Jen Hamilton Reveals Powerful Way She's Moving Forward After Separation

Sat, 07/18/2026 - 1:24am

Nurse influencer Jen Hamilton is turning her difficult situation into something positive for others.

"I had therapy today, and Shamika does not allow me to stay down," Hamilton explained in a Friday, July 17, Instagram video. "Yes, feel those feelings, but get your ass up...And I got to thinking, what is my routine when something really bad happens? It's to take that thing and turn it into something good."

She continued, "I would not wish what I am going through right now on anybody in the world. But, what I'm finding is so common, is how many women had to leave a bad situation. In my situation—yes, it sucks so hard—I am so very blessed to have been the breadwinner so that I can actually leave."

Hamilton — who recently announced her split from husband Brian — went on to explain that she wants to raise money to help women who are unable to leave their difficult situations.

She called on her 2 million followers for help coming up with a slogan that she hopes to put on T-shirts to fundraise.

The labor and delivery nurse first announced her separation in a heartbreaking social media update on June 13.

"Day 1: absolutely devastated. Please don’t try to reach out to anybody on my behalf. That would make everything so much worse for me. Please just let me grieve," she captioned a since-deleted video. "My heart is absolutely shattered."

She later confirmed that she and Brian, who share two sons, had called it quits after nearly 15 years together.

"Yes, we are separating. This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship," the former couple said in a joint statement. "What we are committed to is loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center."

14-Year-Old Delivered the First Perfect 10 in Olympic History 50 Years Ago Today

Sat, 07/18/2026 - 1:11am

Fifty years ago, one of the most unforgettable moments in Olympic history unfolded in Montreal, and it wasn't just because of an extraordinary routine. It was because the technology wasn't prepared for what came next.

On July 18, 1976, 14-year-old Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci became the first athlete ever to receive a perfect 10.0 in Olympic gymnastics competition, forever changing the sport. Her flawless uneven bars routine stunned judges, spectators and television audiences alike, but perhaps the most famous reaction came from the electronic scoreboard itself. Built to display only three digits because no one expected a perfect score, it flashed "1.00" instead of 10.00, leaving the crowd momentarily confused before realizing they had just witnessed history.

Looking back nearly five decades later, Comăneci said she arrived in Montreal with modest expectations. "There was no expectation," she told Olympics.com in 2024. "I knew I was good at what I was doing, but I didn't know how good I was compared to others."

Since every gymnast performed the same compulsory routine, she said what separated her performance was what she now calls the "Nadia touch."

“Everybody had to do the same routine by the book,” said Comaneci. “What does it mean to be better because everybody will do the same thing. Like, what can I add to that? I call it the Nadia touch. I added amplitude to every skill, so it looks like in the book, but I just added a little something. It was my personal touch."

"I didn't even think about the score," she said. "I was more into not making a mistake ... That was the only thing that was in my head."

That first perfect score proved to be only the beginning. By the end of the Montreal Olympics, Comăneci had earned seven perfect 10s, won three gold medals, a silver and a bronze, and became the youngest Olympic all-around champion in gymnastics history, a record that still stands because the sport later raised its minimum age requirement from 14 to 16.

The performance instantly transformed the teenager into one of the biggest stars of the Games. Sports Illustrated described her as "brilliant and beguiling," writing that her "precision and daring have never been seen before in an Olympics." The magazine added that she "so captivated the Games" that fans gladly paid far above face value simply for the chance to watch her compete.

Her longtime coach Béla Károlyi believed her greatness extended beyond remarkable athletic ability. As he explained to Sports Illustrated, Comăneci possessed "the physical qualities—strength, speed, agility. The intellectual qualities—intelligence and the power to concentrate," before adding the trait he valued most: "Nadia has courage."

Comăneci's influence reached far beyond the medals she collected. Her artistry, precision and composure helped spark a worldwide surge in gymnastics' popularity and inspired generations of future champions. Five decades later, she remains one of the most recognizable Olympians in history, and the image of a scoreboard displaying "1.00" instead of 10.00 remains one of sports' most iconic reminders that sometimes greatness exceeds even our expectations.

Walmart's Flowy $10 Lounge Pants Are 'Super Soft,' 'Comfy,' and Available in 3 Classic Colors

Sat, 07/18/2026 - 1:01am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

There are at-home lounge pants, and then there are presentable-enough-to-go-outside lounge pants, and every well-rounded wardrobe needs at least one of each. If your closet still needs the latter, Walmart is running a great deal on a pair that’s flowy, lightweight, and comfortable enough for summer. The Wqd Crossover High-Waisted Wide-Leg Lounge Pants are now just $10, down from $25, and they come in black, gray, and navy blue, with sizes ranging from small to 2XL.

The pants feature a high-rise crossover waistband that dips into a V shape at the front, along with wide legs that fall loosely. The fabric is designed to feel lightweight, breathable, stretchy, and soft, with two deep side pockets for your phone, keys, or anything else you want close by.

These pants are versatile enough to put on in the morning and keep wearing long after you’ve left the house to run errands. The loose fit gives your legs more room than leggings, while the crossover waistband adds shape without making them feel uncomfortable. They would be perfect for a coffee run, grocery pickup, a casual lunch, or any other plan where jeans feel like more effort than the day requires. They’d also be cozy enough for a long car ride or flight, making them ideal for travel.

“These yoga pants are soft and comfy,” one reviewer wrote, noting that this was their third pair. Another said, “The material is super soft and feels wonderful,” though they mentioned that the sizing was off. Walmart also lists them as running large, so checking the measurements before ordering may help you avoid an exchange.

For an easy summer outfit, you could pair these with a fitted tank top, a cropped T-shirt, or a lightweight cami, and add slides or sneakers. And since all three colors are neutrals and simple enough to wear with a variety of hues, getting dressed should be a breeze. The pockets also make them convenient when you’re moving around the house, and the wide legs give them a relaxed feel.

March Madness has come and gone, but college teams are undoubtedly spending the summer training for next season.

That includes the University of Connecticut, whose women's dynasty is arguably the most successful college basketball program in history, under Hall of Fame head coach Geno Auriemma.

When it comes to the fans, they can spend this waiting period tuning into an upcoming docuseries about the East Coast franchise on Apple TV.

An explosive trailer dropped on Friday, July 17 for The Dynasty: UConn Huskies, a three-part documentary event premiering globally on August 21, 2026. Check it out below.

Fans have taken to the YouTube upload's comments section to show their support and excitement for the upcoming release. "Never considered Apple TV until today. This will be the highlight of all the docus i watch this year," wrote one user, while another person commented, "Not sure if this is overdue or right on time. Either way can’t wait. Long time Huskie fan."

The Dynasty is said to feature exclusive interviews with the 2025 National Championship team and legendary voices spanning generations of UConn basketball. Through never-before-seen archival footage and intimate access, the series promises to dig into the obsession, pressure, sacrifices and ruthless culture that transformed a basketball program into an unrivaled phenomenon.

The docuseries joins Apple’s expanding offering of nonfiction programming featuring some of the biggest stories in sports, including Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series, which spotlights the revival of MLB's playoff rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

At the recent Paris Olympics, meanwhile, four former members of the UConn women's basketball team were able to earn medals. Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi earned gold with USA Basketball as the team won its eighth straight Olympic gold medal. Plus, Gabby Williams led host nation France to silver as Les Bleues battled the U.S. in the gold medal game.

Johnny Cash's Last Time on Stage Is Still Difficult to Watch

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 11:33pm

For more than four decades, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash were one of country music's most beloved couples, sharing the stage almost as often as they shared their lives.

So when Johnny made what would become his final public performance on July 5, 2003, it came just two months after losing the woman he called the love of his life.

June died on May 15, 2003, at age 73, following complications from heart surgery. Her death marked the end of one of country music's most enduring partnerships, leaving Cash devastated after 35 years of marriage.

Still grieving, the "Ring of Fire" singer made one final appearance during the Carter Family Fold concert in Hiltons, Virginia. Joined by his son, John Carter Cash, he performed several of his signature songs, including "Folsom Prison Blues," "Ring of Fire" and "Understand Your Man."

Those in attendance later recalled that Cash appeared physically frail, but his unmistakable voice and presence remained as powerful as ever. The performance would ultimately become the last time fans saw him onstage.

Cash never performed publicly again.

Less than two months later, on September 12, 2003, the country icon died at age 71 from complications related to diabetes.

In the months leading up to his death, Cash often spoke about the profound impact June had on his life and career. Following her passing, he wrote in a statement that "the spirit of June Carter overshadows me tonight with the love she had for me and the love I have for her," adding that they remained connected "somewhere between here and heaven."

The couple's love story had inspired generations of fans, culminating in the 2005 Academy Award-winning film Walk the Line, which introduced their relationship to an entirely new audience.

More than two decades later, Cash's final public performance remains one of the most poignant moments in country music history. It wasn't just the end of an extraordinary career.

It was a final tribute from a man still mourning the partner who had shared nearly every step of his remarkable journey.

Clarks' ‘Extremely Comfortable’ Flip Flops That Can Be Worn ‘All Day’ Are on Sale for Just $25

If you're in need of a summer wardrobe refresh, then you might want to start with your footwear. With the heat and upcoming seasonal vacations, it's important to own shoes that are breathable, comfortable for all day wear, and still stylish for all of your social media pictures. Clarks is one of our favorite go-to brands, and Macy's is currently selling the Clarks Breeze Cove Flip Flop Flats for 58% off.

The sandals originally cost $60, but have been reduced to just $25. You can purchase them in 10 colors: red, black, tan, bright blue, gold, green, dark blue, off-white, white, and a blank patent. The sizes range from 5 to 12, and only come in whole sizes, but several shoppers wrote that they're true to size. Another customer said that "they have very narrow feet and [the sandals] adjust to your foot."

The design features a 1.125-inch flat heel, round tow, and buckle closure that you can adjust to your comfort. What we love about these flats is that the buckle is decorative, as it leaves a shine and comes in a unique octagonal shape. The insole features a textile lining with a synthetic upper, and thermoplastic rubber outsole with minimal traction (therefore, you should wear them in more casual settings, not necessarily on rough terrain).

Each flip flop has a fun tropical leaf design decorated on the insole, and the colors depend on which hue you choose (for example, the black colorway has a green, blue, and pink graphic). Shoppers described the flip flops as "extremely comfortable," "stylish," "well-made," "beautiful," and of "excellent quality." Another customer noted that they have "great eye appeal."

The exciting part about this sandal design is that they're a little bit dressier than classic flip flops, so you can easily wear them with more upscale outfits. We think they'd particularly look cute with resortwear, like beach dresses, maxi skirts, and pleated shorts. Shoppers said that they give you "just enough support to be comfortable," so they can be "worn everyday."

1982 Rock Song, Once Spent 21 Weeks Charting, Became a Timeless Anthem

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 10:26pm

Rick Springfield proved he was more than a one-hit wonder when "Don't Talk to Strangers" became one of the biggest rock songs of 1982.

Released as the lead single from his album Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet, the track climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it remained a chart favorite for 21 weeks, cementing Springfield's place among the biggest rock stars of the decade.

The song became Springfield's second-biggest hit in the United States, following the chart-topping success of "Jessie's Girl" in 1981. Although "Don't Talk to Strangers" spent four weeks at No. 2, it was prevented from reaching the top spot by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder's "Ebony and Ivory."

Its commercial success helped prove that Springfield's breakthrough was no fluke. Instead, it marked the beginning of a run that saw him score five Top 10 singles in the United States and become one of the most reliable hitmakers of the early 1980s.

Following the massive popularity of Working Class Dog and its No. 1 single "Jessie's Girl," many expected Springfield's success to fade. Instead, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet delivered another major hit with "Don't Talk to Strangers."

The single peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached No. 3 in Canada, climbed to No. 10 in Australia and also appeared on several international charts. By the end of 1982, it ranked among the year's biggest songs, finishing No. 20 on Billboard's year-end Hot 100.

The song also earned Springfield a 1983 Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, adding another milestone to his career following his Grammy win for "Jessie's Girl."

American Songwriter noted that "Don't Talk to Strangers" helped solidify Springfield as a lasting star rather than a short-lived pop sensation.

Springfield wrote and recorded "Don't Talk to Strangers," drawing inspiration from an earlier composition titled "Spanish Eyes," first recorded during the Sound City sessions in 1978.

The lyrics reflected concerns about a long-distance relationship with his then-girlfriend, Barbara Porter, who later became his wife. Years later, Springfield openly discussed the emotions behind the song.

The confession revealed that the song's themes of jealousy and distrust came from his own experiences rather than fictional storytelling.

American Songwriter also described the record as taking "a paranoid view of long-distance love," noting that Springfield later admitted he was projecting his own infidelity into the lyrics.

Born Richard Lewis Springthorpe on Aug. 23, 1949, in Guildford, Australia, Rick Springfield first found success with Australian bands before launching his solo career in the early 1970s.

International stardom arrived in 1981 with "Jessie's Girl," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Springfield the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.

He followed that breakthrough with additional Top 10 hits including:

  • "I've Done Everything for You"
  • "Don't Talk to Strangers"
  • "Affair of the Heart"
  • "Love Somebody"

Beyond music, Springfield built a successful acting career. He became widely known for portraying Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime television drama General Hospital. He later starred in the 1984 film Hard to Hold and appeared in series including High Tide, Californication, True Detective, Supernatural, American Horror Story and The Goldbergs.

His achievements also include publishing the bestselling memoir Late, Late at Night in 2010 and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014 for his contributions to music.

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 10:25pm

Zooey Deschanel is opening up about her fiancé, HGTV personality Jonathan Scott's latest venture.

During a July 2026 episode of the Zach Sang Show, hosted by radio personality Zach Sang, Deschanel, who has been in a relationship with Scott since 2019, noted that the Property Brother star will possibly have a daytime talk show. People magazine reported that the show, titled BETTER! with Jonathan Scott, could have a fall 2027 premiere date, provided that it gets the green light.

During the Zach Sang Show interview, Deschanel said that she has known for quite some time about Scott's possible talk show.

"Well, it's so funny 'cause I've known he was doing this for like a really long time, but I have to remember that like every milestone you have to be like, 'Yay!'" quipped the New Girl star.

After Sang said the possible talk show is "a big deal," Deschanel agreed that "it's a huge deal." She also said she's always believed that Scott would excel as a talk show host because of his personable nature.

"I think since I've known him, I've been like, 'You'd make a great talk show host.' Like he's just very easy to talk to and fun. And, you know, I just was like, 'Oh my god, he would just be so good at that,'" said Deschanel.

Jonathan Scott Revealed the News on Instagram

In June 2026, Scott took to Instagram to let his fans know that he was taking steps to host a talk show. The caption referenced that he has been a long-time HGTV personality, hosting several renovation shows, including Celebrity IOU and Property Brothers: Under Pressure alongside his twin brother, Drew Scott.

"For years, you’ve invited me into your homes through renovation projects, design challenges, and some pretty wild adventures. Along the way, one of my favorite parts has always been connecting with people and sharing ideas that can make life at home a little better," read a portion of the caption of the June 10 upload. "That’s why I’m so excited to finally share something I’ve been working on for a long time. We’re developing BETTER! with Jonathan Scott — a new daytime talk show built around great conversations, practical home tips, inspiring stories, and amazing guests and lifestyle experts who can help all of us live a little better (while having some fun along the way)."

In a June 29 Instagram post, Scott confirmed he filmed "the pilot for [his] talk show."

'70s Rock Legend Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 42 Years After No. 1 Hit

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 10:09pm

Bruce Springsteen is climbing the Billboard charts again more than four decades after the release of his landmark album Born in the U.S.A., proving the lasting appeal of one of rock music's biggest records.

The 1984 album has re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 69, marking another milestone for Springsteen's classic release. The album originally peaked at No. 1 on the chart and has now spent 145 weeks on the Billboard 200 across its chart history.

The renewed momentum comes during the week following the Fourth of July holiday, when listeners across the United States streamed and purchased patriotic songs in large numbers. The increased interest also fueled a major comeback for the album's title track, "Born in the U.S.A.," across several Billboard rankings.

Released on June 4, 1984, Born in the U.S.A. became Bruce Springsteen's seventh studio album and the biggest commercial success of his career.

The record debuted inside the Billboard 200 before reaching No. 1 just two weeks later. It remained in the Top 10 for 84 consecutive weeks and spent nearly three years on the chart during its original run.

The album produced seven Top 10 singles in the United States, including:

  • "Dancing in the Dark"
  • "Born in the U.S.A."
  • "I'm on Fire"
  • "Glory Days"
  • "My Hometown"
  • "Cover Me"
  • "I'm Goin' Down"

Over the years, Born in the U.S.A. has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, making it Springsteen's best-selling album and one of the best-selling albums in music history.

The album's return follows a strong resurgence for its title track.

According to the latest Billboard rankings, "Born in the U.S.A." debuted at No. 30 on the Streaming Songs chart. The appearance marks Springsteen's first-ever entry on Billboard's all-genre streaming ranking.

On the Digital Song Sales chart, "Born in the U.S.A." climbed to No. 8 after selling 2,650 downloads, according to Luminate. The ranking represents the song's highest position on that chart.

The renewed streaming and download activity also helped "Born in the U.S.A." re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 36. During its original release in the 1980s, the song reached No. 9 on the Hot 100.

The Fourth of July holiday has increasingly become a major streaming period for patriotic songs, with listeners returning to classics each year. This year's surge benefited several well-known tracks, but "Born in the U.S.A." posted one of the strongest gains.

Recorded with the E Street Band between 1982 and 1984, Born in the U.S.A. blended rock music with a more pop-oriented sound while continuing Springsteen's storytelling about working-class life, patriotism, personal struggles and relationships.

The album transformed Springsteen into a global superstar and topped charts in multiple countries, including the U.S. and the U.K.

Its influence has continued long after its original release. The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012, has appeared on numerous lists of the greatest albums of all time, and received a 40th anniversary reissue in 2024.

Springsteen, known as "The Boss," has released 21 studio albums during a career spanning six decades and has sold more than 140 million records worldwide.

More than 42 years after Born in the U.S.A. first reached No. 1, the album is once again finding an audience, showing that one of rock's defining releases continues to resonate with listeners across generations.

Lenox’s Fluted Stoneware Vase Delivers the Grandma-Chic Look of ‘Fine China’ Without the Heirloom Price Tag

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

For years, scoring beautiful, genuine china meant spending weekends wandering antique malls, estate sales, and thrift stores, hoping to stumble across that one perfect heirloom piece. But today's "grandmillennial" decorating trend has people chasing the same timeless look without the unpredictable hunt or the eye-watering price tags that often come with antiques. More shoppers are mixing vintage-inspired pieces into modern homes, creating collections that feel curated over generations, even if they all arrived in a single delivery.

If you've been dreaming of that collected-over-time aesthetic, Amazon has an easy shortcut. The Lenox French Perle Fluted Vase is on sale for $28, down 21% from $35, and delivers all the charm of a treasured china cabinet find. The same Lenox style is currently on sale at Macy’s for $32, making Amazon's deal the best way to bring home this heirloom-inspired look for less. There's also a slightly smaller version of the same vase at Amazon, discounted to $24.

At first glance, you might swear this vase came straight from an antique shop. The soft blue glaze gives it that perfectly aged, heirloom feel, while raised beaded detailing wraps around the rounded body in graceful scrolls and vintage-inspired medallions that almost look hand-carved. A gently flared neck and subtly distressed rim complete the look, giving it the kind of old-world charm usually reserved for pieces tucked inside a china cabinet. It channels classic French pottery and vintage European ceramics without feeling overly ornate, looking just as at home in a modern living room as it is in a cozy cottage kitchen.

Measuring 8 inches tall, it's an ideal size for holding a bouquet. Grocery-store roses instantly look florist-worthy, while hydrangeas, peonies, tulips, and fresh-cut flowers fill out the rounded silhouette beautifully. The wide body lets fuller arrangements fan out naturally, while the narrower neck keeps stems gathered instead of splaying every which way. It would also look just as lovely holding eucalyptus, olive branches, dried lavender, or pampas grass when fresh flowers aren't available.

Beyond its traditional use, this vase could easily act as a stylish organizer throughout your home. Keep makeup brushes neatly displayed on a vanity, corral pens and pencils on a desk, or use it to hold decorative wreath picks and seasonal accents when decorating for the holidays. Even left completely empty, the fluted shape and raised detailing make it a statement piece that deserves a spot on a shelf, console table, or countertop.

Amazon shoppers adored the “elegant” design of this “lovely” little vase, calling it an affordable alternative to “fine China.” One reviewer wrote that it's not only “beautiful to look at, but also very sturdy.”

Country Star Reveals He May Retire in the Next Two Years: ‘I’ve Been Really Looking at It’

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 9:57pm

Darius Rucker enjoys being at home. So much so that the country music superstar, 60, and beloved frontman of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish revealed he could retire sooner rather than later.

While chatting in a sit-down interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Rucker, who is currently on his 2026 Songs of Summer tour, was asked by longtime sports radio personality Dan Patrick when he plans to retire.

“Two years,” Rucker answered with little hesitation, as shown in the promotional video clip for the interview, shared on X.

— Dan Patrick Show (@dpshow) July 17, 2026

“I’ve been really looking at it. I played 110 shows last year… What am I doing?” he reasoned. “I still like making records and playing and everything, but I’m really starting to be at home a lot. I like being at home a lot.”

Fans will know that Rucker first found fame as the lead singer and guitarist for Hootie & the Blowfish — a band he founded in the ‘80s at the University of South Carolina with Bryan Smith, Mark Bryan, and Dean Felber in his home state of South Carolina. While on the show, he promised that if the retirement does happen, he will mark the finale on a high note — at Williams-Brice Stadium.

“I’m looking at maybe doing a tour,” he shared. “One more big ‘Hootie’ thing. If we call it, if we call it, I gotta do one more ‘Hootie’ thing because we have to finish at Williams-Brice Stadium. Our last show, when we say ‘we’re done,’ it’s gotta be at Williams-Brice Stadium.”

Throughout the years, Rucker and Hootie & the Blowfish released a handful of albums and charted with hits like “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”

In 2008, Rucker launched a career in country music as a solo artist after signing with Capitol Records Nashville. He is known for hits like “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” “It Won’t Be Like This for Long,” “Alright,” “Come Back Song,” “Beers and Sunshine,” “Wagon Wheel,” which is an Old Crow Medicine Show cover song, and many others.

1970 Rock Classic, Inspired by a Dating Mantra, Became an Unlikely Love Anthem

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 9:57pm

In 1970, when free love reigned supreme, Stephen Stills kicked off his first solo album with a track that served as the perfect anthem for the time: "Love the One You're With."

At the time, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were on hiatus, with the members pursuing solo projects. Stills struck gold, literally, with his self-titled debut album...partly thanks to the strength of the aforementioned hit single, "Love the One You're With," which peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1971.

Why was the song so popular? The catchy chorus is a singalong classic, especially for anyone trying to...lower their expectations in love, so to speak (at least temporarily). According to Stills, it all started with a dating motto he heard from iconic keyboardist Billy Preston: "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."

"This song has been very good to me. The title came from a party with Billy Preston," Stills explained in the liner notes for the CSN Box Set.

"I asked him if I could pinch this line he had, and he said, 'Sure,'" Stills continued. "So I took the phrase and wrote a song around it. It's a good times song, just a bit of fun. My favorite part is the steel drums. I played them before a little bit but I just kept diddling around till I found the right notes."

In an interview with Uncut, Antiguan-born musician Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuel recalled suggesting the addition of those steel drums to "Love the One You're With."

"When I first heard it, it was a jingle-jangle 12-string song," Samuel said, per Songfacts. "I said to Stephen, 'Why don't you give me some money and I'll go and get some Africans.' So I got Jeff Whitaker and we took a steel drum back to the studio."

"I thought we'd finished the song, totally finished it," he continued. "But one night, Stephen dragged me out of bed at four o'clock in the morning, 'We're going back to the studio.' I had been playing something at rehearsals on my own. It's a thing I developed playing bass with one finger one way and another finger another way. He said, 'That kind of thing you were playing at rehearsal? Let's try it on 'Love the One You're With.' That became the bassline. To keep that in his head like, 'Oh, this could actually work, not the one we thought was going,' that was genius. Then what's funny, he took off the steel drum. I love it."

Stills also got some help in the studio from CSNY bandmates David Crosby and Graham Nash, who contributed to the background vocals.

"Stephen called and said, 'You remember that song of mine, 'Love the One You’re With,' that I cut in London?'" Nash recounted in his book Wild Tales. "'Well, I’ve brought the track back and we’re in Wally Heider’s with it. I need voices for the choruses. Any chance you and David would come down?'"

Decades after "Love the One You're With" first climbed the charts, people continue to find inspiration, comfort and humor in the lyrics:

Don't be angry — don't be sad
Don't sit crying over good times you've had
There's a girl right next to you
And she's just waiting for something to do

Well there's a rose in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies with the dove
And if you can't be with the one you love honey
Love the one you're with

The YouTube clip above, posted on Stills' official channel 11 years ago, is still getting comments from fans:

"This song has become my signature song," one person wrote. "At 73, I find myself a widow. My husband passed away 5 years ago. I'm dating and working hard at being happy. This song popped into my mind and now I use it to remind me that I'm still alive and can 'Love the one I'm with.' Thank you!"

"This is one of those songs you can listen to 'until the grooves grow old.' I have and still do. Stephen you're the best!!" added someone else.

Little did Preston know his dating advice would stand the test of time.

Tom Brady Slaps WWE Star in Viral Moment That Has the Internet Questioning What's Real

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 9:45pm

Tom Brady and Logan Paulshared a stage at Fanatics Fest in New York on Friday, and by the time their panel wrapped, things had taken an unexpected turn.

A clip posted to Fanatics' X account captured the moment: Brady and Paul exchanging heated words near center stage before Brady pulled his hand from his pocket and swung. At first glance, it looked like a clean slap to the face, though closer replays show his hand actually landed on Paul's shoulder. New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns quickly stepped in to separate the two.

The clip spread fast, racking up more than 5 million views within three hours. Paul addressed it on X, joking that the confrontation stemmed from Brady still being sore about losing to him at a flag football event back in March. Brady fired back on the same platform, needling Paul before adding a short jab of his own: "I tried America…will try again next time I see this nerd."

Reaction across social media was swift, and mostly skeptical. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel summed up the general mood, writing on X, "This has to be so fake…Tom Brady slapping Logan Paul. Right??"

The timing only added fuel to the fire. Just a day earlier, Brady had appeared on Cody Rhodes' podcast and openly talked about wanting a WWE moment of his own, saying he'd relish playing the villain in the ring. Paul, for his part, has been a signed WWE performer since 2022, though he's currently sidelined with a torn tricep. His injury makes any actual in-ring showdown with Brady unlikely in the near term, even if the appetite for one is clearly building online.

Whether Friday's exchange was a genuine flare-up or a preview of something bigger remains unclear to everyone. Even AI chatbot Grok, when asked to weigh in on the footage, wasn't convinced the confrontation was real.

1981 Rock Classic Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 45 Years Later

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 9:34pm

Nearly 45 years after it first became a Billboard Top 10 hit,Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" is climbing the charts once again.

The beloved 1981 rock classic re-entered this week's Billboard Hot 100 at No. 35 for the chart dated July 18, marking another remarkable chapter for one of the most enduring songs in rock history. The song also debuted on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart at No. 33, the first time Journey has ever appeared on the ranking, which measures the week's most-streamed songs across leading digital music services.

It has always been a radio staple, but it may be surging on the charts due to its being played at the June 19 World Cup match in Seattle between Team USA and Australia.

And the Journey resurgence isn't limited to the single. The band's 1988 Greatest Hits album continues its astonishing longevity on the Billboard 200, climbing to No. 44 this week while extending its run to an incredible 917 weeks on the chart.

Originally released in October 1981 as the second single from Journey's blockbuster album Escape, "Don't Stop Believin'" peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 before taking on an even bigger life decades later.

Part of the song's staying power comes from the way each new generation seems to rediscover it. Over the past two decades, "Don't Stop Believin'" has enjoyed repeated revivals through The Sopranos, Glee, Rock of Ages, sporting events, streaming playlists and social media, transforming it from a classic rock hit into one of the defining songs of the digital era.

Its unforgettable opening piano riff, slow-building structure and emotional payoff have also made it a favorite for movie trailers, television shows and live sporting events, keeping the song in constant circulation long after its original chart run.

The renewed chart success also comes just weeks after Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain shared a deeper interpretation of the song's famous message. Speaking with The Christian Post in a June 2026 interview, Cain said he has long viewed the anthem through a spiritual lens.

"A song like 'Don't Stop Believin'' is really disguised as a song about the Holy Spirit if you really think about it," Cain said. "We don't stop believing, we never do. And when we say 'hold on to that feeling,' that might just be the Holy Spirit."

Cain explained that the title itself came from advice his father gave him when he was a struggling musician considering giving up on his dream.

"He said, 'No, you've got to stay. Don't stop believing, God has a vision for you,'" Cain recalled.

Whether listeners hear it as a story about hope, perseverance or faith, "Don't Stop Believin'" has continued connecting with audiences in ways few songs ever have.

The anthem has become one of the defining success stories of the streaming era. Billboard previously noted that it became the biggest-selling digital song originally recorded in the 1980s, and in 2024 it was certified 18-times Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, making it the highest-certified digital song in U.S. history. In 2022, the Library of Congress also selected the song for preservation in the National Recording Registry in recognition of its cultural, historical and aesthetic significance.

Now, 45 years after it first entered the Billboard Hot 100, "Don't Stop Believin'" is proving once again that some songs never really leave.

Legendary '90s Metal Band Has 'At Least 50' New Songs After Finding Creative Spark

Fri, 07/17/2026 - 9:31pm

Imagine winning a Grammy and not caring.

Yep, that's Slipknot — the head-banging group of 9 masked men shamelessly terrifying grandmas, all while charging through some of heavy metal's most recognizable hits over the last couple of decades.

The faces behind the ever-changing masks may have also changed over the years, but according to guitarist Jim Root (#4), it sounds as if they're turning back the clock, recalibrating their experimental side to recapture their signature sound diehard fans have been begging for.

'At Least 50' New Songs In The Works

After Slipknot's last two albums, We Are Not Your Kind and The End, So Far, received mixed reviews from longtime loyalists, frontman Corey Taylor's self-admitted "Radiohead" vibes seemed worlds away from the blast-beat mayhem fans had come to expect from a band that continues selling out arenas year after year.

Now with many band members in their 50s, one might expect their softer side, like their hits "Vermillion Pt. 2" and "Snuff" to be the North Star going forward.

Not so fast.

Since Slipknot is now on their second drummer since Joey Jordison's departure, former Sepultura standout Eloy Casagrande is now behind the kit and is apparently a dream collaborator.

Root was quoted, saying on the RIDE BYND podcast, "Having Eloy in the band is like such an honor to be able to jam with that guy.”

“He lives, eats and breathes his drums,” Root added.

Even with a revamped lineup since the band burst on the scene in the '90s, Root adds the songwriting process nowadays is "so organic and it’s so real" as he, Eloy, and Slipknot founder Clown all jam for hours on end, and now have "at least 50 arrangements" that have rejuvenated the band's creative juices after Root once said his "inspiration is nearly zero."

He adds certain songs thus far sound "like nothing I’ve ever heard before," which stirred confusion from fans on the last record's opening song, "Adderall" — but this time Root says he's working on the "fastest picking riffs" imaginable as the beloved fans they call "maggots" hope for a resurgence of the blistering ferocity that defined their 1999 self-titled debut.

Like every Slipknot album, expect some curveballs, too. Root capped things off by saying, "I couldn't tell you what the direction of this next record is gonna be," adding there may be some "Pink Floyd" elements sprinkled in.
