Corey Feldman Reacts to Not Being Included in Rob Reiner Oscars Tribute

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 7:21pm

Corey Feldman is speaking out after being excluded from the Rob Reiner tribute at the 98th Academy Awards.

The Stand By Me actor told Entertainment Weekly that Reiner's tribute during the Sunday, March 15 ceremony felt "a little bit like a family reunion I wasn't invited to."

“We're not going to use this time to go into my feeling about that," he said in the joint interview with Wil Wheaton and Jerry O'Connell to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary. "Instead I just want to say that I'm with the rest of us, we're all very destroyed that things went down the way they did, losing Rob when we all thought he'd be joining us at some point for this tour and it's a tragedy."

While Feldman was not present during the Oscars tribute to Reiner, Wheaton and O'Connell joined numerous other stars of Reiner's films on stage during the ceremony.

"I think Jerry and Wil did what had to be done,” Feldman said of his Stand By Me costars. “It was a fleeting moment, so I don't feel like I missed much at all.”

He added, "I personally was probably maybe a little bothered by the fact that nobody got to speak or do or say anything from their own heart. Although they did a wonderful job, I would've liked to have heard from Wil and Jerry and a few other people up there."

Ultimately, Feldman said "it is what it is" and that he liked that the Academy chose to "honor the great memory of Rob."

1977 Career-Defining Classic Was a No. 1 Hit Song 51 Years Ago Today

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 6:47pm

In 1977, ABBA released a song that would mark a turning point in their career.

Their single, "Knowing Me, Knowing You" became a global success, reaching No. 1 on charts in multiple countries, including the UK, and further cementing the group’s dominance during the late 1970s. It followed a string of upbeat hits, but stood out for its more mature, introspective tone.

ABBA was unique in many ways, not the least of which is that the group was made up of two couples: Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. The group formed in the early 1970s, combining their individual careers into a single act. But their breakthrough came in 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest, launching them into stardom to across Europe.

Written by Andersson and Ulvaeus, "Knowing Me, Knowing You" explored the emotional fallout of a breakup, something that would become a recurring theme in ABBA's later work. With its melancholic melody and reflective lyrics, the song offered a deeper look at relationships than many of the group’s earlier releases.

The track appeared on their album Arrival, one of the band's most successful records. While songs like "Dancing Queen" showcased their signature pop energy, "Knowing Me, Knowing You" revealed their ability to balance catchy hooks with genuine emotional weight.

Often considered one of ABBA's most sophisticated songs, the track has been praised for its honesty and restraint. Its themes of separation and acceptance resonated with listeners around the world, helping it endure long after its initial release.

The song also arrived during a period of intense success for the group, as they transitioned from Eurovision winners to global pop icons. It helped solidify their reputation not just as hitmakers, but as artists capable of crafting songs with lasting emotional impact.

"When we won the Eurovision song contest in 1974, we knew we had something in us that we wanted to spread out and to show the world, but icon, I don’t know, that came later. It's still hard to believe," Fältskog told The Guardian in 2023. "It's so difficult to look upon yourself as an icon, because you are with yourself all the time and we get tired of ourselves now and then. But it’s also amazing."

More than five decades later, "Knowing Me, Knowing You" remains one of ABBA’s most beloved tracks, a timeless classic that continues to connect with audiences through its universal message of love and loss.

On This Day 25 Years Ago, a Controversial Music Artist Requested a New Name

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 6:15pm

Right now, he's behind bars. But there was a time when Sean Combs was a top figure in the music industry.

Actually, come to think of — 25 years ago to this day, the controversial artist, now 56, was also in hot water with the U.S. legal system. It was just weeks after Combs — now known as "Diddy" — was found not guilty on charges of gun possession and bribery in a headline-making criminal trial that was certainly unnerving for the celebrity.

And on March 28, 2001, the "I'll Be Missing You" rapper sat down for an interview on MTV and requested that he no longer be called "Puffy" as a stage name. It was "Puff Daddy" before that, as music fans are well aware — but Saturday, March 28 marks 25 years since Combs asked to be called "P. Diddy," in an attempt at a fresh start.

"No more Puff Daddy. I'm not doing it as serious as Prince. I just want something fresh," Combs told the MTV show, per The Guardian, referencing how Prince had revived his original name around that time after briefly changing it to a symbol. "I'm rocking with P. Diddy now. My man Biggie gave me that name."

The former record producer continued, in thinking about his future before taking up his "P. Diddy" persona, "I gotta take a break. I'm going to take a leave of absence just to be Sean Combs [to] have time to think about what's the next level I want to play on."

Several years later, in August 2005, Combs changed his stage name yet again — to simply "Diddy."

The now-convicted felon made headlines recently yet again after fellow inmate Suge Knightannounced a new memoir that will be released in August. Per the book's description, the former CEO of Death Row Records, 60, is expected to address his past "brawls" with "P. Diddy" in the upcoming publication.

Aldi's 3-Tier Floral Serving Piece Is the Stuff of Your Whimsical Tea Party Dreams

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 6:05pm

I drink tea all year round—morning, afternoon, whenever—but for some reason, the second spring hits, I get this overwhelming urge to turn it into a full-on event. Like, suddenly it isn't enough to just sip it from my usual mug at my desk. No, no. I want a whole moment. I'm talking a proper tea party situation, the kind that feels just a tiny bit whimsical and unnecessary in a good way.

Tea parties are wildly underrated as adults. Why did we ever let kids (and their stuffed animals) have all the fun? It feels so darn charming to set out a pretty spread, pouring tea into actual teacups, and leaning all the way into the fairytale of it all for an afternoon. It doesn't have to be fussy—a few sweet treats, maybe some flowers on the table, and you've created this cozy little escape.

Crofton Blue Toile Tiered Server, $12.99 at Aldi

Aldi

Who wouldn't want to catch up with friends around a table adorned with this Crofton Blue Toile Tiered Server from Aldi? It's only $12.99 but feels like something out of a storybook, or maybe Bridgerton. The three tiers are perfect for displaying tea sandwiches, appetizers, cookies and small desserts.

Related: Dollar General Is Selling a Dolly Parton 2-Tier Server That’s So Whimsical, You’ll Think a Fairy Made It

The scalloped trim on each pretty tier just kind of adds to the charm of the whole piece.

Aside from a tiered tray (non-negotiable at $12.99, obviously), a tea party really just needs a few extras to bring the magic to life. Think mismatched teacups that look like they've each lived a little life, a teapot that pours like a dream, and a linen or two that makes everything feel just a touch more special. Add in a vase of loosely arranged flowers (nothing too perfect) and suddenly your table looks like it belongs in a storybook.

Aldi has a bunch of products that fit the bill for a tea party right now. There's a wooden scallop-edged tray for decoration, a dreamy floral cast-iron Dutch oven and chair pads so comfy and cutesy you'll want to sit on them for hours.

If this isn't your sign to start planning a tea party, I'm not sure what is. So, pinkies up, my friends.

Kim Novak, 93, Says Biopic Actress Is 'Totally Wrong' to Play Her

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:44pm

Kim Novak has thoughts about Scandalous, and she’s letting them be known.

The upcoming biopic, directed by Euphoria alum Coleman Domingo and starring The Housemaid’s Sydney Sweeney as Novak, explores the short-lived affair between Novak and Sammy Davis Jr., to be played by Alien: RomulusDavid Jonsson.

But Novak is not happy with a) the potential plot of the film, nor b) the casting.

View this post on Instagram

Sharing her disdain for casting choice of Sweeney, the Picnic star spoke with the Times of London yesterday, March 28, saying that Sweeney is “totally wrong” to play her.

Related: 1955 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 71 Years Ago Today

“Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time,” she said. “She could never play me,” adding that Sweeney “sticks out so much above the waist.”

Novak said she’s also worried the film will focus too much on the salacious and sexual aspects of her relationship with the legendary musician.

“There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time. She was totally wrong to play me,” Novak said, adding she and Davis were more than just sex; they had “so much in common.”

Back in August, Novak shared more with The Guardian about her relationship and how the film, which has apparently stalled in production, might be getting her story wrong.

“I don’t think the relationship was scandalous," she said. "He’s somebody I really cared about. We had so much in common, including that we need to be accepted for who we are and what we do, rather than how we look. But I’m concerned they’re going to make it all sexual reasons.”

Novak and Davis began their romance in 1957 after meeting on the set of The Steven Allen Show. According to Smithsonian Magazine, their first date involved spaghetti and meatballs, and their affair got more serious with every naysayer's reaction.

“She hadn’t thought about me anymore than I had thought about her—until it was forbidden,” Davis wrote in his autobiography Sammy, per SM. “Then we became conspirators, drawn together by the single thing we had in common: defiance.”

The pair’s relationship was reportedly broken up by Columbia Pictures’ bossman Henry Cohn, who thought the interracial factor would be bad for business. They kept their relationship under wraps for the most part but succumbed to pressure from Cohn who reportedly threatened Davis with mob violence.

At the 2025 Met Gala, Sweeney was getting into character with a look that paid homage to the Vertigo star. Taking to the iconic steps, Sweeney wore a peekaboo dress similar to the number Novak wore in The Legend of Lylah Clare (1967).

Speaking with People last October, Sweeney said she’s “incredibly honored” to play Novak. “I think her story is still very relevant today in that she dealt with Hollywood and scrutiny with her relationships and her own private life and the control of her image. And I think that for me, I relate to it in a lot of different ways.”

Iconic '90s Actor With Major People’s Choice Award Turns 56

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:27pm

There's an easy confidence that has long defined Vince Vaughn's performances, and it's a quality that helped shape one of the most recognizable careers of the '90s and early 2000s.

The iconic actor, best known for his People's Choice Award-winning work across film and comedy, is celebrating his 56th birthday.

Born on March 28, 1970, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Vaughn found his way into acting through commercials and minor television roles. His career began to gain traction in the mid-'90s, but it was his breakout performance in Swingers that introduced audiences to his hilarious delivery and natural charisma.

Using this momentum, he soon became a defining face of the entertainment of his era. Roles in films like The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Old School showcased his range, excelling in both comedic and more grounded roles. This versatility allowed him to take on a wide variety of projects, further expanding his career.

One of the highlights of Vaughn's acting was the major hit Wedding Crashers, which became one of the most beloved comedies of its time. He and Owen Wilson won the 2006 People's Choice Award for Favorite On-Screen Match-Up for their incredible performances in the film.

The following year, Vaughn earned another award for Favorite Leading Man. These honors reflected his unique style and magnetic screen presence, defining qualities of one of the era's best film actors.

In a 2024 interview with The New York Times, Vaughn shared, "I never saw success as results. If you feel like you were engaged and you did your best and you feel good about it, sometimes the results aren't there, but you feel good, because you got better."

Over the years, he has continued to take on a mix of comedy and drama, appearing in projects like True Detective and returning to film with a variety of roles that demonstrate his lasting power.

Now at 56, Vaughn's career reflects decades of consistency and talent, with performances that continue to resonate across generations and solidify his presence in the spotlight.

I Tried Cleaning a Dirty Pan With a Potato—Here’s What Actually Happened

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:27pm

Ah, social media. It can give us mouthwatering new recipes, grocery store must-haves, and genius kitchen hacks all in a matter of a few swipes. And of course, along the way, it’s given us some questionable advice too. After all, not every viral trick deserves a permanent spot in your cooking routine. But every once in a while, something strange pops up that makes you pause and think: “Wait…could that actually work?”

The latest head-scratcher circulating online is the idea that you can clean a filthy pan with nothing more than a potato and some salt (seriously). No soap. No sponge. Just a humble potato, sliced in half and used like a scrub brush. So naturally, we had to try it out for ourselves.

The internet was just as excited as we were. “I am going to try this weekend on an old baking sheet I cannot get clean!” said one Instagrammer, and “thanks for showing how to fix a pan 🥰 and not throw it away,” said another. But perhaps the best comment of all was: “Potatoes can be chips, fries, cleaner and vodka. It's like the other vegetables are not even trying.” Truer words have never been spoken.

We wanted to see if this hack was as spud-tacular as it seemed so we went all in, grabbing the dirtiest pan and the biggest tuber we could find and started scrubbing. And what happened next totally surprised us.

What Is the Potato Pan-Cleaning Hack? View this post on Instagram

The potato pan-cleaning hack is exactly what it sounds like: using a cut potato as a scrubbing tool to clean a pan, with the help of coarse salt as an abrasive. The method has been circulating widely on social media, and people are smitten with the idea that you can use a humble potato to loosen burnt-on food or residue from your metal pans with an everyday pantry item. The method even works on cast-iron pans to remove rust.

What Do You Need for the Potato Pan-Cleaning Hack?

Courtesy of Jessica Wrubel

The “ingredient” list is refreshingly short for this one: a dirty pan, some table salt and half a potato. And if you’re concerned about wasting a potato for this hack but still want to try it, @gratefulheartcollective recommends using an old potato: “ Use a potato that’s sprouted or that is going bad/you won’t eat,” they say in their comments section.

Does the Potato Pan-Cleaning Hack Actually Work?

Despite what some internet sources claim, the potato itself isn’t doing much chemically.

Some online explanations point to potatoes containing oxalic acid—the same compound found in cleansers like Bar Keepers Friend. But Paul Adams, science research editor at America’s Test Kitchen, says the concentration in potatoes is extremely low.

“Bar Keeper's Friend contains about 10 percent oxalic acid, while a potato contains closer to 0.05 percent,” he explains. “That's about 200 times less—nowhere near enough to have an effect.”

“A potato on its own has no cleaning power,” he continues. “The potato provides the moisture and the handle, while the salt provides the physical abrasion.”

Instead, Adams says the science behind this trick is mostly mechanical. He says the coarse salt provides the abrasion needed to break up stuck food, but contrary to what your social media feed might say, the starch doesn't have any chemical effect. “It binds with water to create a paste that holds the salt for effective scrubbing,” he says.

He also notes that the potato method is a fairly “low-impact abrasive,” meaning it won’t work well on extremely sticky grease, very heavy burnt-on layers, or severe rust buildup.

“You might want to use a potato if you need to remove stubborn, burnt-on food, or light surface rust on a seasoned pan,” he says. “A sponge typically isn't abrasive enough to knock off baked-on carbon, and steel wool is destructive to the seasoning. The potato (used in combination with an abrasive) acts as a firm, ergonomic scrubbing block.”

Here’s the basic process I followed while testing this hack out: Cut a large potato in half and sprinkle a generous amount of salt over the cut side. Press the potato directly onto the surface of the pan and begin scrubbing in circular motions. As you work, the potato will release some moisture, so add more salt if needed to keep the mixture abrasive. Continue scrubbing until you start to see the grime loosen and lift from the pan’s surface. Rinse and wash the pan after scrubbing and dry thoroughly before storing.

My Honest Thoughts About the Potato Pan-Cleaning Hack

Courtesy of Jessica Wrubel

Courtesy of Jessica Wrubel

The only pan I had available for testing this method out was a very old wok that’s been sitting in my parents’ kitchen for the better part of two decades. It’s never been properly seasoned and has spent most of its life blasting over high heat (as woks tend to do). Over time, it accumulated a thick layer of blackened oil and residue on the bottom that, frankly, had long been accepted as part of the pan itself. In other words, this wasn’t your average greasy skillet or cookie sheet.

Going in, I was skeptical. But after a grueling 15 minutes of scrubbing, I did see improvement in the black rings that had been permanently tattooed on the bottom of the wok. Could this actually have…worked? The surface wasn’t magically restored to brand-new condition, but some of the buildup noticeably lifted. If I had kept going, I’m confident it would have improved even more. Whether the improvement was due to the potato, the salt, or both, I’ll leave up to the food scientists—but the results were convincing enough that I’d happily reach for this trick again the next time a pan gets out of hand.

Tips For Cleaning a Pan With a Potato
  1. Use it on the right pans. This technique works best for cast iron or carbon steel, which have seasoning layers that you don’t want to damage with aggressive scrubbers.
  2. Use plenty of coarse salt. The salt is doing the real cleaning work, so don’t skimp. As the abrasive power declines, simply add more salt to the pan.
  3. Choose a large potato. A bigger potato simply makes a more comfortable scrubbing tool so choose one that fits your hand well.
  4. Try baking soda with this hack. “Baking soda is alkaline, so it would be a helpful addition if you're trying to clean a greasy pan,” Adams says. “When it mixes with the moisture from the potato and the grease in the pan, it helps make the fat pan slightly water-soluble, and hence easier to wash off.”

Lisa Kudrow Reveals Why She Was Nervous About ‘Romy and Michele High School Reunion’

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:19pm

Actress Lisa Kudrowrevealed her role on the sitcomFriendsmade her feel somewhat out of place while filming the beloved 1997 comedy, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.

During a March 2026 interview with Vanity Fair, Kudrow noted that her Romy and Michele's High School Reunion castmates included acclaimed actors like Alan Cumming, Mira Sorvino, and Janeane Garofalo. She explained she felt self-conscious about being a sitcom actress with her roles as Phoebe on Friends, which premiered in 1994, and Ursula on Mad About You.

"I was nervous about dramatic actors. Now, I'm doing Romy and Michele, Mira Sorvino had won an Oscar. And Alan Cumming was in these very cool Miramax movies, and I was a little like, 'Alright, well, let's see, s--t. Just on multi-camera, and was a TV actor, not a movie actor, and it was sort of getting better, but not really. It really didn't feel like we were the same. At all," said Kudrow during the March 2026 interview. "And some people made that transition, good for them. They won't think much of me, and how's this going to go?"

Kudrow said she eventually felt at ease, largely thanks to Cumming's warm and welcoming spirit.

"Alan was just so thrilled, and delighted. And he's nice, and happy, and friendly. And I went, 'Okay, I'm being accepted, that's great. Okay, good, this is good.' And not only that, but I'm really getting along with these people and they like me. And then all of that, 'just a sitcom, on a sitcom,' it went away," said Kudrow to Vanity Fair.

Kudrow referenced that there's a Romy and Michele's High School Reunion sequel in the works during a March 2026 interview withCollider. While she doesn't "know for sure" if the sequel will make it to production, she said, "it's looking good right now." In addition, Kudrow said she "laughed out loud" multiple times while reading the script.

This ‘Beyond the Gates’ Star Just Revealed the ‘Shocking’ Moment She Realized She Was A Lead

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:15pm

Daphnée Duplaix is opening up about joining CBS’s groundbreaking soap opera Beyond the Gates and the pressure she felt stepping into a leading role on the series.

In a recent interview on The Gatekeepers Podcast, Duplaix was asked whether the show, over a year in, has met her expectations.

Duplaix said that when she was cast as Nicole Richardson Dupree, she didn’t initially realize how central the role would be. “Because I literally had two pages of dialogue with not a lot of dialogue,” she explained, noting that auditions can often include longer monologues.

She said she only learned of the full scope of the role shortly before filming began, “When I came to Atlanta for my first fitting, which was probably a month before we started shooting, I'm sitting with [Executive Producers] Julie Hanan Carruthers and Sheila Ducksworth, and they ask ‘do you know anything about the story yet?’”

After telling them she had only seen limited material, Duplaix said the producers outlined the storyline. “They start running it down, and I'm like, ‘This is my show,’” she recalled.

Duplaix added that she was more accustomed to supporting roles on her previous soap operas Passions and One Life to Live, “That's what I've been used to on the two soaps I was on,” she said.

She embraced the challenge, recognizing the responsibility that came with it. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is on our shoulders,’” she said, adding, “It's a heavy load, but we love what we do, and we're so proud of what we're doing.”

Duplaix described the experience as “powerful,” pointing to the show’s impact and storytelling. “We want it to succeed, not just because we're at the top of the call sheet, but knowing what this show is doing for people, the storylines are so deep and raw and real, rooted in reality,” she said.

She also highlighted what she sees as a key difference behind the scenes: a more balanced distribution of storylines. “I was talking to somebody the other day explaining how I feel like everybody has a strong storyline, which is generally not the case. You have your main characters and all your secondaries and the secondaries are just floaters. But on this show, everybody's important and I love that.”

25 Popular Toys Every Kid Wanted in the 1960s

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

For kids, toys are life, and they tend to form close attachments with some playthings more than others. Even when you outgrow your favorite toys, these beloved mementos of childhood always hold a special place in your heart. Flash forward to adulthood, and many kids at heart become collectors who enjoy curating a collection of the toys that shaped their childhood. For instance, if you grew up in the 1960s and still have any toys from the decade lying around, they might be worth a pretty penny now.

Whether it's a doll, an action figure or a board game, there's always at least one nostalgic memento that makes someone light up while reminiscing on their childhood. The 1960s were a treasure trove of entertaining toys, and many adults are willing to pay far more than they were originally worth to travel back in time and relive their younger years.

On our quest to discover the most popular 1960s toys that were all the rage that decade, Parade picked the brains of two toy collectors. Below, they're sharing the standout playthings that every kid wanted during the decade.

What Toys Were Invented in the 1960s?

Christopher Byrne, aka The Toy Guy, calls the 1960s a "transformational time for toys."

"Materials that had been introduced for the war effort had moved into consumer products, notably plastics and advanced metal fabrication," Byrne—a toy analyst, researcher and consultant—says.

Thanks to television and advertising, some toys became wildly popular in a short period of time.

"In the days before what we now call influencers, no one had a bigger impact on kids and the toys they wanted than Captain Kangaroo," he states. "His show could rocket something from zero to peak cultural awareness in just one morning."

During the 1960s, several classic toys hit the U.S. market, including Etch A Sketch, LEGOs, Hot Wheels, G.I. Joe and more.

Since collecting is an unpredictable business, toys are often worth what someone is willing to pay for them based on sentimental value alone.

"Some of the toys below have comparatively huge collector bases (Hot Wheels, G.I. Joe, etc.), but we always recommend collecting something because you love it, not because you think it’s going to fund your retirement," he states. "Collectible markets can change in a moment and you can be left holding the toy."

Additionally, it can be challenging to find toys from this decade that are still in good shape since children avidly played with them.

"That’s the reason they are so beloved," he states. "It’s never the piece of plastic that is compelling to a child; it’s the creative, expressive and emotional experience attached to it. That lives on in memory and gives a toy value decades later."

25 Popular Toys Every Kid Wanted in the 1960s

If you still have any of these 1960s toys, you could be sitting on a goldmine!

1. G.I. Joe

Fondazione Fiera Milano/Mondadori Portfolio via Getty Images

Byrne describes G.I. Joe as the "original action figure."

"In fact, the term was coined to describe G.I. Joe because dolls were for girls," he states. "Initially launched with characters based on the four armed services, the toy gave boys permission to engage in doll play and develop hero-based narratives using the figure."

Even today, many collectors still have their eyes on G.I. Joe.

"Collectors value this toy, especially if they are boxed or rarer pieces, such as the foreign fighters, especially those with the original packaging," Phil Weiss of Weiss Auctions says.

2. Barbie

GAIZKA IROZ/AFP via Getty Images

After the first Barbie doll hit stores in 1959, the toy quickly solidified its place as a mainstay in pop culture.

"Barbie was one of the most popular toys of the 1960s and is still an iconic and top seller today," Weiss says.

Some vintage Barbies are even worth a fortune today.

3. Chatty Cathy

BRUCE BISPING/Star Tribune via Getty Images

A doll that says several phrases when you pull a string that's connected to her? It was an exciting concept for children of the decade.

"Chatty Cathy was one of the more popular dolls of the 1960s. It still appeals to collectors today but would not be a big seller to this generation, I don’t think," Weiss says.

4. Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots

Tim Dominick/The State/Tribune News Service via Getty Images

Weiss grew up loving this toy that featured two colorful robots fighting each other.

"This toy kept kids busy for hours, and it is another example of a toy that still is popular in many offshoot variations," he shares.

Byrne calls this an "iconic game" of the 1960s and says advertising helped propel sales.

"One of the things that drove the popularity of this toy was the commercial that included the now oft-quoted line, 'You knocked my block off!' That line quickly gained currency in the culture, which helped drive awareness, even among those who would never have the toy," he explains.

5. Troll dolls

Evening Standard/Hulton Archive/Getty Images

When the Troll doll craze hit the U.S. in the 1960s, Byrne says they became the "must-have toy on playgrounds."

"Part of the reason that they became so popular was that they were 'ugly cute,' a design that would propel Cabbage Patch Dolls’ popularity two decades later," he shares.

Although the craze died down by the mid 1960s, Trolls have had several revivals over the years.

"Today, Dreamworks and Hasbro have created their own unique look and personalities for trolls, and they’re probably here to stay in one way or another," he says.

6. Easy-Bake Oven

Etsy

"In the 1960s, girls were still being encouraged to be homemakers," Byrne notes. "The Easy-Bake Oven, which made cakes with a lightbulb, became a huge hit for Kenner. The idea of cooking something that you could actually eat was the 'magic' if you will, and the commercials showed girls in the mommy role with their creations."

Hasbro later acquired the toy and started experimenting with different technologies.

"One of the things I think is so interesting about this toy is that over the years, the design has reflected trends in current kitchen design," he shares. "That’s not really all that surprising since toys always reflect the culture at large."

7. Lite-Brite

eBay

Kids loved making pictures with light with this crafting set from the 1960s.

"Kids of the era can still sing the commercial jingle, and it was a lot of fun," Byrne states. "It’s still made today by Basic Fun in a lot of different sets. The big difference today is that the units use batteries instead of a plug. It’s still pretty amazing to watch your creations light up."

8. Hot Wheels

Gabe Ginsberg/Getty Images

After hitting the market in the 1960s, Hot Wheels are still trending today, and some vintage models can sell for thousands of dollars each, according to Weiss, who says they're "as popular as ever" in 2026.

Byrne says the original Red Line series is "especially prized" and notes that "exceedingly rare vehicles" can even be valued in the "hundreds of thousands."

"The thing about Hot Wheels that distinguished it from previous die-cast cars was that Elliot Handler and his team gave the car a metal axle that allowed the wheels to go faster than any previous die-cast cars," he explains. "Others had the wheels attached to the chassis or other configurations."

9. Creepy Crawlers Thingmaker

eBay

"Mattel’s Thingmaker was a huge hit. Kids poured Plastigoop into molds over a heating element to make all kinds of bugs and crawly things," Byrne explains. "In addition to a great commercial, the classic play pattern of making things was what drove this—and the creep element was certainly a part of it."

As a child, Weiss was quite fond of this toy.

"If you were innovative, you could put an open paper clip in the goop so the figures could be bent into various positions. Many a finger was blistered trying this," he shares.

10. Big Wheel

Walter Leporati/Getty Images

Byrne says this ride-on bike "defined many members of the generation."

"It came out the same year as the movie Easy Rider, and it helped kids’ imaginations of taking to the open sidewalk," he shares. "Being able to move under one’s own steam and independently has always been appealing to kids, but this toy, in particular, in its design seemed to capture the essence of the culture at the time. Ironically, because of its design, it was difficult to pedal, but once it got going, kids wanted to keep riding forever, or so it seemed."

11. Mystery Date

eBay

"As teenagers became a more and more prevalent—and powerful—economic cohort, kids aspired to being teens themselves," Byrne tells Parade. "And from watching TV, notably characters like Gidget and Patty Duke, the concept of dating entered younger kids’ world."

With this board game, players prepared for a "big date." If your outfit matched the guy behind the door when you opened the door, you won. Or, you could get a "dud."

"My joke has been that if the guy who was 'the dud' showed up today, most parents would think he looked pretty okay," Byrne shares.

12. Etch A Sketch

skodonnell/Getty Images

Byrne says kids were "fascinated by turning the dials to make pictures" with this toy that's still around today.

"The stylus created lines in a film of graphite, which covered the inside of the screen via static electricity," he explains. "When you were done, you turned it over and shook to fill in those lines. Trying to get curved lines by turning the knobs simultaneously fascinated kids for decades."

13. Play-Doh Fun Factory

eBay

After Play-Doh was introduced in the 1950s, Byrne says the product "was showing signs of maturity." Then, the brand released a "simple pump-activated extruder that allowed kids to play with the compound in a new way."

"That helped revitalize Play-Doh sales and encouraged repeat purchase, which is always the goal with a consumable product," he says.

14. Operation

Riccardo Milani / Hans Lucas / AFP via Getty Images

Byrne says the 1960s was "a golden age of games."

"So many were introduced, though many that were one-year hits haven’t endured. One that has, though, is Operation," he shares.

In the game, which is still around today, players are tasked with "operating" on Cavity Sam by removing his organs with metal-tipped tweezers.

"The way it worked was that each opening had a metal edge, and if the tweezers touched the edge, it completed a circuit and set off the light and buzzer," he explains.

15. The Beatles dolls

Fred Morgan/NY Daily News Archive via Getty Images

"No one can argue the influence that The Beatles had on our culture," Byrne points out. "Screaming, fainting and a playlist that still gets people excited. Though they were only around for a few years, the first dolls based on the group were introduced in 1964 by Remco."

The dolls were around five inches tall with oversized heads and plastic bodies.

"They have a pretty high resale value today, too, though values fluctuate," he shares. "The popularity of these toys and the group itself helped to ramp up the licensing business in the toy industry as well."

16. Mouse Trap Game

H. Armstrong Roberts/ClassicStock/Getty Images

Mouse Trap is one of several popular "skill and action games" that were popular in the 1960s.

"Mouse Trap was based on the concept of Rube Goldberg’s machines, which had originated as comics," Byrne explains. "The comedy of [this] was that they took the most amount of effort to produce a minimal result. The name of the game was to build an elaborate contraption that, when it worked, dropped a cage on a mouse."

17. James Bond toys

eBay

"The James Bond craze of the 1960s brought about loads of merchandise, but the best was the 007 attaché case with all the bells and whistles," Weiss says.

These days, the toy is still a "very desirable collectible," even if its popularity didn't last all that long, per Weiss.

18. Spirograph

eBay

"Reflecting the 1960s movement of pop art and fascination with all things technical, this simple drawing toy was a huge hit," Byrne says.

The series of gears was held to cardboard by pins. You played with it by placing a small gear inside a large, circular one. Next, you placed a ballpoint pen in one of the holes on the smaller gear, then ran it around inside the larger one.

"The hole you chose changed the shape of what you made, and the geometric drawings were fascinating for kids," the toy analyst shares. "You really couldn’t make a mistake since the gears kept everything together. So, almost all the results looked great—no special drawing skill required."

19. Mr. Machine

eBay

"One of the elements of Mr. Machine was that you could take him apart and put him back together again," Byrne explains. "Many kids did. And many kids got frustrated trying to get him back together."

The collector says the brand that created Mr. Machine later tried to redesign the toy in the 1970s, but it wasn't as successful.

"It didn’t flop because the toy was bad. As so often happens when toy companies try to reintroduce successes, they find the world—and kids—have moved on," he states.

20. Major Matt Mason

Keystone-France/Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images

Hot on the heels of the success of G.I. Joe, this toy was another way for Mattel to dominate the boys' action figure market.

"Space was on everyone’s mind. Star Treklaunched that year, but even more impactful in shaping imaginations was JFK’s promise to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade," Byrne shares. "Major Matt Mason would probably get there first—at least in imagination. Coming when it did culturally and capturing the otherworldly zeitgeist, Major Matt Mason and his team took kids' imaginations by storm."

Since finding Major Matt Mason toys that are still intact isn't easy, if you do come across one, they're likely to hold more value.

21. Crazy Clock Game

eBay

This board game was one of Weiss's favorites while growing up.

"Board games that had the player build Rube Goldberg-like contraptions were very entertaining," he says.

The collector notes that the toy wouldn't likely be as popular today, but says it was a "generational toy" that was a hit in the 1960s.

22. Johnny Seven Rifle

eBay

"The Johnny Seven Rifle was a big seller and one of the more popular toys made in the 1960s," Weiss says.

Similar to many other toys, the fact that it came with different accessories made the toy so popular.

"This rifle had multiple components launching many different missiles, grenades etc.," he shares.

23. Air Blaster

eBay

Byrne says this "futuristic looking blaster" harnessed the power of a pump and internal diaphragm "to shoot blasts of wind up to 25 feet."

"You got one blast per pump, but this was a huge hit with kids," he states. "It came in a box with a target that was a picture of a gorilla that when you blasted at it, the strips of the picture would respond to the wind. That was fun enough, but of course, the real fun was sneaking up behind a sibling and blasting them."

Finding an Air Blaster that's still functional might be a challenge, but you never know what you'll find out there.

24. Twister

Kunal Khurana / 500px / Getty Images

Weiss refers to this next one as "the best party game ever invented."

"It's simple with a plastic mat and spinner," he shares.

The objective of the game? Players place their hands and feet on colored spots on the board, all the while contorting their bodies in the wackiest positions. The game is still around today.

25. Big Loo

eBay

Byrne calls this 1960s toy a "cult classic."

"Big Loo was a robot that stood about three feet tall, had a futuristic look and all kinds of fun elements," he explains. "It had a voice changer on the back. His arm shot balls, his feet had a rocket launcher and there were lights and sounds, making it rudimentary by today’s standards."

Even though it only stayed on the market for a year or two, Byrne says eBay auctions for original Big Loo toys "can get fast and furious."

Iconic Crooner Paul Anka Just Relisted His L.A.-Area Home—Take a Look

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 5:05pm

There are legends, and then there's Paul Anka, who is the kind of artist whose music just lives in the background of so many memories. From writing and singing "Diana" as a teenager to penning classics like "My Way"(yes, that one made famous by Frank Sinatra), Anka's career isn't just long—it’s iconic. He's one of those rare figures who never really left the spotlight, he just evolved with it decade after decade.

So the fact that he's just listed his stunning Southern California estate feels like being invited into a piece of that legacy. You can almost imagine the stories those walls could tell, the music that's filled those rooms, and the effortless cool that comes from a life so fully lived.

Anka's Westlake Village, Calif. home sits within the exclusive gates of Sherwood Country Club, a gorgeous neighborhood that instantly makes you exhale a little when you drive in. It's tucked into the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, so you get this dreamy mix of lush green golf course views and total privacy—like a hidden retreat that just happens to be right outside of L.A. proper. It's quiet luxury at its finest.

You can check out dozens upon dozens of images on the home's Zillow listing page. The sprawling estate features four bedrooms and six bathrooms, not to mention a chef's kitchen, "hidden office", billiard room, professional recording studio and, of course, living and dining spaces.

Has Paul Anka Tried to Sell This Home Before?

Yes, he did list this gorgeous abode a few times before, starting back in September 2023. At that time Anka was asking $10M for the home that was so meticulously designed to suit his tastes and lifestyle. However, when he didn't fetch that initial listing price, the property was removed from the market. It's been a back-and-forth situation with the estate and it was relisted a few times since for that same $10M price.

As of March 2026, it's back again but with an asking price of $8.99M, and hopefully this time's the charm for Anka to start his next chapter. For the record, he first purchased the home in 2007 for just $4M, so even if it sells anywhere remotely close to that $8.995M price tag, the musician is set to make a tidy profit.

Jonathan Scott Reveals the Big Decision He & Zooey Deschanel Made About Their Wedding

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 4:16pm

HGTV star Jonathan Scott and his fiancée, actress Zooey Deschanel, aren't interested in having a big wedding.

While speaking to People magazine in March 2026, Jonathan, who divorced his first wife, Kelsy Ully, in 2010, explained that he's just inviting individuals who reciprocate his and Deschanel's effort in friendships to their upcoming ceremony.

“I've sort of entered this phase of my life now where I'm realizing there are a lot of people around you who… you put way more effort into the relationship than they do. People who I find I'm constantly asking if they would like to go out, if I make plans, would you like to join? And they don't reciprocate," said Jonathan during the March 2026 People interview. “I think we have decided we want to be around the people who actually love our friendship and love spending time with us."

He clarified that he and Deschanel don't have any other solidified wedding plans.

“So, I'm okay with the idea of something intimate that's just the people who really care. And at some point, we'll figure out a date and a location and all that stuff, but we haven't done it yet," said the famed home renovator.

Deschanel has two children, fathered by her second ex-husband, Jacob Pechenik, per People.

Drew Scott Opened up About His Large Wedding in a 2024 Interview Alongside Jonathan Scott

Jonathan made similar comments about what he's been envisioning for his wedding with Deschanel during a June 2024 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, alongside his brother and Property Brothers co-host, Drew Scott. Jonathan said that he and Deschanel intend on having a small wedding.

"We just want a kick-a-s party with people we love," said Jonathan during the 2024 talk show interview.

Drew then noted that he and his wife, Linda Phan, had quite a large wedding with over 300 guests in Italy in 2018. Drew also said that his wife felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of wedding guests.

"I'm okay with things being busy and a lot happening. My wife is not. And so we realized that it would be better to have more just us moments," said Drew.

The father of two clarified that he and Phan enjoyed their destination wedding.

"It was very memorable and we loved it," said Drew in the 2024 Kelly Clarkson Show interview.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Former Pima County Sheriff Claims Chris Nanos 'Corrupted' Crime Scene

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 3:52pm

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing eight weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and recently, a former Pima County sheriff claimed that current Sheriff Chris Nanos "corrupted" the crime scene.

For the March 27 episode of Brian Entin Investigates, the NewsNation senior national correspondent spoke with Dr. Richard Carmona, a former surgeon general and a former Pima County sheriff.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

During their chat, Carmona shared "the thing that perplexed all of us" was when "Nanos on TV says that he opened the crime scene... That's not something a sheriff does." He explained, "It's the lead detective that's out there that says we can open this area now because we have made this determination that all of the evidence necessary has been photographed, bagged, tagged, and so on."

"Once it has been corrupted, that's the end of it," Carmona added, of Nanos opening the scene and then closing it again for further investigation. "You cannot reconstitute a crime scene."

Additionally, Carmona criticized footage of a pizza delivery car driving across Nancy's front lawn during the investigation.

"If you're going to court and you're making a case, a defense attorney says, 'Well, that crime scene was corrupted, you had people delivering pizzas,'" Carmona said. "How do we know this is real evidence?"

Carmona also insisted that, despite Nanos reopening the investigation on Nancy's property, "You cannot reconstitute a crime scene. Once it has been corrupted, that's the end of it because you have not maintained the integrity of that space."

He further pointed out, "The public has to have trust in its law enforcement agency," he said. "You cannot lead without trust. And when you have a sheriff that has to keep correcting himself and changing his story every day, the public loses faith in you."

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named.

It’s cozy enough for day-to-day lounging but polished enough to pair with tailored trousers or a midi skirt for a night on the town.

Available for $35, this cutesy sweater is an affordable way to tap into 2000s fashion nostalgia. Whether you style it with loafers for a slightly preppy vibe or keep it casual with jeans and sneakers, it’s versatile enough for everyday wear.

With The Devil Wears Prada 2 set to hit theaters in May 2026 and original cast members like Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reportedly returning, the timing couldn’t be better for a little fashion throwback. If you’ve been searching Target for a sweater that feels equal parts cozy and iconic, this one might just earn a very Miranda-approved nod.

That’s all.

Sat, 03/28/2026 - 3:21pm

Rosie O’Donnell recently shared exciting celebrity baby news! The 64-year-old talk show host and comedian just welcomed her fifth grandchild to the family. According to a recent Instagram post, the baby boy was born on March 26, 2026.

Who are Rosie O’Donnell’s children?

The actress has five children. Parker, born in May of 1995, is her oldest. While she initially adopted him as a single mom, O’Donnell’s first wife, TV exec Kelli Carpenter, later adopted Parker too. O’Donnell and Carpenter adopted their next-eldest, Chelsea, in 1997, and their third child, Blake, in 1999.

In 2002, Carpenter gave birth to O’Donnell’s fourth child, Vivienne Rose. In 2013, Rosie (and her second wife, Michelle Rounds) adopted her fifth child, Clay

How many grandchildren does actress Rosie O’Donnell have?

O’Donnell is now the grandma of five! Daughter Chelsea has four children of her own: Skylar Rose, Riley, Avery Lynn, and Atlas. The most recent addition to the O’Donnell clan was born just days ago, in March, to the comedian’s third child, Blake.

What is Rosie O’Donnell’s newest grandchild’s name?

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rosie shared, “Anthony Joel O’Donnell has arrived! And my heart burst open—congratulations to mama teresa n blake christopher—I love you so. Along with the cute caption, the new grandma (for the fifth time) also revealed the first pic of her grandson. While little Anthony’s face isn’t visible, the black-and-white photo does show his teeny-tiny foot, with his birth date and the words “mommy & daddy love you so” written on top.

Of course, fans were expecting the Emmy Award-winner’s news. Earlier this week, O’Donnell posted a pregnancy picture of Blake and Teresa, captioning it, “here comes the baby boy!!! Any day now!!!” Fans and friends sent the couple (and the soon-to-be grandma) well-wishes, including, “So exciting! Congratulations to you and the future parents,” and, “You are going to be a Granny! Lucky you. All the best for baby’s birth and for Mom and Dad.”

Another fan added, “That baby boy is going to be so loved and cherished,” while another got a bit political, saying, “Wow! That time zoomed by! Wishing them a healthy, happy Democrat boy.”

As it turns out, Rosie and her new grandbaby almost shared a birthday. The celeb grandma turned 64 on March 21, just five days short of Anthony’s big debut. So a big “Happy Birthday” goes out to O’ Donnell and the newest member of her growing family.
