Alison Sweeney on Why Success Isn't a Straight Line

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:32am

There's a reason why so many people feel like they grew up alongside Alison Sweeney. On January 22, 1993—at just 16 years old—she made her Days of Our Lives debut as Sami Brady. Sweeney quickly cemented herself as a fan favorite, playing the role through every twist and turn to the delight of audiences across the globe and becoming soap opera royalty in the process.

And yet, despite the grueling hours and the relentless production schedule that daytime television demands, Sweeney refused to get comfortable—or let anyone put her inside a singular box. If she wanted to try something new, she leapt right into it.

In 2007—while still starring on Days of Our Lives—Sweeney began hosting NBC's reality weight loss show The Biggest Loser. During her 13-season run, she became the heart of the series—displaying much-needed warmth and compassion as vulnerable contestants shared their journeys.

She's authored five books—including the memoir All The Days of My Life (So Far), the health and wellness guide The Mommy Diet, and three novels—The Star Attraction, Scared Scriptless, and Opportunity Knocks. She architected her own media empire, serving as the executive producer and star behind record-breaking Hallmark franchises like Murder, She Baked and The Wedding Veil.

To the outside world, her trajectory looks like a steady, upward climb. But she's the first to admit that life is rarely that simple. Success requires flexibility—a willingness to step into the unknown and the courage to take on completely new challenges. And that's exactly why Alison Sweeney is today's quote of the day.

Quote of the Day by Alison Sweeney

"The best lesson I've learned in this town is how important it is to understand the road to success isn't a straight line. It's curvy and twisted and doubles back plenty. You have to be willing to take chances, and understand that sometimes something that seems sideways actually gets you way closer to your goal!"

While her words may seem tailored to Hollywood, they apply perfectly to anyone navigating life's unpredictable twists. We are so often taught that the only way is up, but Sweeney reminds us that the best opportunities usually come when we're brave enough to step off the expected path. And even when something initially feels like a setback or disappointment, hold on and stay positive—because it could very well be the catalyst for something incredible!

Deeper Meaning of Alison Sweeney's Quote—Courage and Conviction

Because Sweeney has been a fixture on our screens for decades—and her breezy personality makes everything seem so effortless—it's easy to overlook the immense courage it took to step back from Days of Our Lives. Sweeney was walking away from over two decades of guaranteed stability. However, taking that leap would allow her to build an entirely new chapter—not to mention a media empire—on her own terms.

Her philosophy is a masterclass in having the courage to spread your wings—especially when things feel comfortable—and trusting the process. Because like she says, the road to success is not a straight line! It's curvy and windy and rarely follows the linear path we were taught as kids. So whatever goal it is that you're reaching for, remember that those twists and turns aren't setbacks. They are the exact stepping stones you need to reach your ultimate destination.

More Quotes From Alison Sweeney
  • "It seems to me that it's the little things that add up. So, maybe just letting someone into your lane when you're driving, or being patient with a harried server at a restaurant. Those little moments could make a big difference in someone else's day."
  • "I think having children helps you keep your perspective. You can't get obsessed with any one thing in your life because you're reminded every day of what's most important—the people you love."
  • "I am a big believer in finding a workout that you enjoy. If you hate what you're doing, you're never going to stick with it."
  • "You have to be open-minded. You never know when you're going to learn something from someone you didn't expect to learn from."

Torrential Rain in Hawaii Has Finally Stopped—but Is It Smart to Still Visit? Here’s What Travel Experts and Locals Say

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:27am

After weeks of intense rain and flooding across Hawaii, conditions are finally beginning to improve but travelers are still asking the same question: is now a good time to visit?

The answer isn’t a simple yes or no. While skies are clearing and locals are working to clear up the debris and fix anything that was damaged, there is still a ways to go before everything returns back to normal.

What Happened: A Rough Few Weeks for Hawaii

Earlier this month, parts of Hawaii experienced heavy rainfall that led to flash flooding, landslides, and road closures, especially on islands like Maui and Oahu.

In Maui, some of the worst impacts were seen along the famous Road to Hana, where flooding and debris made portions of the route unsafe for days. On Oahu, heavy rain caused localized flooding in low-lying areas and temporarily disrupted transportation.

While the worst of the weather has now passed, the effects haven’t disappeared overnight.

@askdeewaikiki

The weather is looking absolutely gorgeous for the foreseeable future here in Hawaiʻi 🌞 Pretty much all tours and activities are back up and running, with the exception of a few water activities up on the North Shore. That said, we still want to be respectful and sensitive to what’s happening in Haleiwa and Waialua while those communities continue their recovery. Other than that, we’re truly blessed with beautiful weather again and there’s plenty to do around the island. If you need help planning anything while you’re here, let me know or head over to Ask Waikiki 🤙 #waikiki #hawaiitravel #oahu #askwaikiki #fyp

♬ original sound - AskDeeWaikiki What’s Still Impacted

Many major attractions across Hawaii are open again but a few spots remain partially closed or limited.

  • Road to Hana (Maui): Some sections have reopened, but travelers may encounter delays, restricted access, or ongoing cleanup efforts
  • Hiking trails: Certain trails on both Maui and Oahu remain closed due to mudslides and unsafe conditions
  • Beach conditions: Some beaches are experiencing higher debris levels or murky water due to runoff
  • Local infrastructure: Minor road closures and detours may still be in place in flood-affected areas

The good news? Major resorts and airports are operating normally, and most visitors won’t experience major disruptions if they plan carefully.

Should You Visit Right Now?

For most travelers, visiting Hawaii right now is still a good option as long as you have a flexible mindset. Tourism is a major part of Hawaii’s economy, and local businesses are eager to welcome visitors back. At the same time, being mindful of recovery efforts and avoiding heavily impacted areas is key.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority shared, "Conditions continue to improve across Hawaii, with most visitor services operating and most areas and attractions are either reopened or reopening," so if your itinerary is focused on beaches and relaxation, you’ll likely have a smooth trip but if you’re planning more remote hikes or scenic drives, you may need backup plans.

♬ original sound - Nobody Fits Why You Should Avoid Oahu’s North Shore Right Now

Even as conditions improve across Hawaii, one area travelers are being specifically asked to avoid: the North Shore of Oahu. Communities like Waialua, Haleiwa, and Mokuleia were among the hardest hit by the recent storms, experiencing severe flooding, infrastructure damage, and ongoing cleanup efforts. Local officials and residents have made it clear that now is not the time for sightseeing in these areas, noting that roads are still damaged, businesses remain closed, and increased traffic from visitors can slow down emergency response and recovery work.

Officials emphasize that this isn’t about discouraging tourism across Hawaii, it’s about respecting communities in recovery. The broader message is clear: visit the islands, but be mindful of where you go.

Tips for Visiting Hawaii Right Now
  • Check conditions daily: Weather may have improved, but conditions can still change quickly. Check local updates before heading out, especially for hikes or scenic drives like the Road to Hana.
  • Be flexible: Have alternative plans in case a trail, beach, or road is closed. Flexibility will make your trip far less stressful.
  •  Respect local guidance: If areas are closed, they’re closed for a reason. Avoid restricted zones and follow all safety advisories.
  • Support local businesses: Many local businesses were impacted by the storms. Choosing local restaurants, tours, and stores helps support recovery efforts.
  • Expect some imperfections: Water clarity, trail conditions, and scenery may not be at their peak just yet. Adjust expectations and focus on what’s open and accessible.

So, should you visit Hawaii right now? If you’re prepared, flexible, and respectful of ongoing recovery efforts, the answer is yes.

Iconic Director With Major Golden Globe Awards, Turns 63

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:13am

Quentin Tarantino, one of the most iconic directors in film history, is celebrating a personal milestone.

Today marks the 63rd birthday of the award-winning filmmaker whose movies have become cult classics and blockbuster hits, thanks to his bold, daring and distinctive storytelling.

From cult classics to blockbuster hits, his films have left an enduring mark on cinema and continue to inspire filmmakers worldwide.

With his decades-long career as a director, Tarantino has introduced a string of notable films that continue to define modern cinema.

As we look back on his legacy behind the camera, here are Quentin Tarantino’s top five movies.

In a ranking shared by Collider, the list includes Tarantino’s top movies that are considered masterpieces.

Landing in fourth place is the 2003 and 2004 martial arts revenge film Kill Bill, starring Uma Thurman, Daryl Hannah and David Carradine as lead stars.

The story focuses on the protagonist Beatrix Kiddo, also known as "The Bride," played by Thurman. She is a former assassin seeking revenge against her ex-lover and mentor, Bill, portrayed by David Carradine and his elite group, the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.

Her vengeance was rooted in the fact that he orchestrated a massacre at her wedding rehearsal, which caused her to fall into a coma for four years.

Thurman was nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes for the first volume.

Released in 1997, the crime film was based on the 1992 novel Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard.

Written and directed by Tarantino, the movie stars Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro. The influential director was nominated for Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival but lost to Central Station by Walter Salles.

Inglourious Basterds View this post on Instagram

Making it to third place is the 2009 film Inglourious Basterds.

A black comedy war film, the movie highlights an alternate-history story of World War II.

Unlike his two other movies, Inglourious Basterds received extensive awards, including Tarantino winning the Critics' Choice Award for Best Original Screenplay, and Christoph Waltz winning Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, SAG Awards, Critics' Choice Awards, and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival.

No list of the best Tarantino movies would be complete without Pulp Fiction.

The 1994 independent black comedy crime film features multiple storylines that intertwine the lives of a boxer, hitmen and a gangster’s wife.

Pulp Fiction features Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis as lead stars.

Tarantino won Best Original Screenplay at the 67th Academy Awards, as well as at the Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and Independent Spirit Awards in the same category.

The renowned filmmaker also took home Best Director at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Unfortunately, despite his significant influence in film, he has yet to win Best Director at any of the Big Four awards.

This Is the One of the Most Relaxing Caribbean Islands for Families—and It’s Not the Bahamas

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:10am

Some island vacations are better in theory than they are in actuality. Bonaire is not one of them. It's the rare Caribbean destination that feels even more appealing once you arrive as a family: from the water that looks so blue you question if it's real, pink tinted beaches and wild flamingos and donkeys wandering the edge of the coastline. It feels like a place a kid would dream up, and that simple fact alone makes it an absolute wonderland for younger travelers.

There are mornings for boat rides to Klein Bonaire and its pale, gently lapping shoreline, afternoons spent in the calm shallows of Sorobon and Lac Bay, and easy detours to see flamingos at Gotomeer. The beauty of Bonaire is not just that it is breathtakingly gorgeous, but that so much of what families come for is easy to do once you are there. The snorkeling begins close to shore, and the island is mercifully manageable. For parents who want a trip that feels special without feeling complicated, Bonaire is very hard to beat.

“What feels especially compelling is how authentic and easygoing the island remains,” Chris Opgenoort, General Manager of Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire, Tapestry Collection by Hilton says. “Bonaire has the feel of a small village, compact, friendly and safe, where everything is close and the pace is naturally slower.” As a father of two, his passion lives in telling everyone who visits that Bonaire gives families the Caribbean they imagine they are booking without the friction (and overly packed beaches) that usually comes with it.

Why Now?

Delfins Beach Resort

Spring is an especially smart time to go. Opgenoor describes the island as blessed with sunshine, boasting warm trade winds nearly every day of the year. Plus, the island sits outside the hurricane belt. Getting there has also become easier in the last two years: Air Century launched service from Santo Domingo in June 2025, and as of March 2026 Bonaire’s published flight schedule shows direct North America service from Miami, Atlanta, Newark and Houston, plus regional links from Santo Domingo.

Just as important, the island has fresh energy through it's growing hospitality offerings. Grand Windsock Bonaire has brought 72 newly built villas and an oceanfront beach club to the island, while Delfins joined Hilton’s Tapestry Collection in 2024, giving one of Bonaire’s most appealing family-friendly resorts a wider profile. On the dining side, newer names like Bar Restaurant Bubbles in the middle of Kaya Grandi and Momento at Plaza Beach have helped elevate the island's already booming culinary scene.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“There’s a strong sense of connection, both to nature and to each other,” Opgenoor says, “and much of the experience comes from simple, shared moments outdoors.” That is the real why now. Bonaire feels more accessible than it once did, but it still has that slow-paced, hidden-gem quality that makes the island almost feel specially curated for you.

Where to Play

Defins Beach Resort

One glance at the water and you'd be remiss not to start, middle, and end your day right inside it. Opgenoor recommends snorkeling first, calling it “the most immediate way to experience Bonaire,” especially because access to the reef is so incredibly accessible. For older kids ready for something more ambitious, Dive Friends Bonaire offers Open Water scuba certification starting at age 10, which feels especially doable here thanks to the island’s calm conditions and famously clear water.

One of the best outings is a water taxi to Klein Bonaire, where families can spend the day at No Name Beach, a pale stretch of sand with gentle water and good snorkeling just offshore. Sorobon’s shallow, protected water is ideal for younger kids, and Jibe City offers windsurf lessons and kids’ clinics for ages 7 to 16. Nearby, the Mangrove Center runs guided kayak tours through the mangroves that showcase a different side of the island, home to dozens of species of fish, bird, and reptile species.

On land, Bonaire is just as rewarding. Washington Slagbaai National Park offers a more rugged look at the island, with habitat for flamingos, parrots, iguanas, and sea turtles, while Gotomeer and the southern salt ponds are among the best places to spot flamingos in the wild. Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire is another easy family stop, home to hundreds of rescued donkeys and the kind of place kids tend to remember long after the trip is over.

Where to Stay

For families, Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is the strongest all-around pick. As Opgenoor says, "it combines “space, ease, and direct access to what makes the island special." The resort offers spacious rooms and apartment-style accommodations, including one- and two-bedroom options with kitchens, plus multiple pools, a private beach, and several dining venues. What makes Delfins especially useful is how seamless it is. Dive Friends is right on site, so families can easily snorkel and scuba when it works for them. For those who would rather spread out in a house, Bonaire Oceanfront Beach House KR14 is a strong Airbnb pick in Hato, with a private pool, ocean views and its own small beach just steps away, all within easy reach of both the airport and downtown Kralendijk.

Dining on Bonaire tends to work well for families because the island’s rhythm does, too. As Opgenoor notes, meals start earlier here, with many kitchens closing around 9 p.m., which makes dinner feel far more manageable with kids in tow. In Kralendijk, visit Bar Restaurant Bubbles for something like the ceviche or sesame-crusted tuna steak. Set on the main street of Kaya Grandi, it is one of the newer addresses worth knowing for coffee, lunch, or dinner, while Cactus Blue Food Truck remains a Bonaire classic for its lionfish burger or wrap.

Families also recommend Club Tropicana BBQ at the Beach at Delfins for lowkey dining with open-air tables, grilled, fresh-caught seafood, and picturesque water views. When you want something a little more elevated, Sebastian’s Restaurant is one of the prettiest dinners on the island, with an oceanfront setting and an inspired Mediterranean-leaning menu that blends fresh-caught fish with local island flavors.

Delfins beach resort

For a last-night splurge, Brass Boer offers a more romantic atmosphere and standout dishes, including its signature Egg Caviar. Set right on the waterfront in Kralendijk, It Rains Fishes is another strong option in town, serving dishes like the tuna trio, salmon bombe, and fresh local catch. And while Bonaire has more high-end restaurants than it once did, Opgenoor also points families toward local staples like pastechi, a stuffed savory pastry, arepa di pampuna, a fluffy pumpkin pancake, and fresh seafood, plus a stop at The Cadushy Distillery in Rincon for locally made cactus liqueur.

Savannah continued, “I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real,” she continued. “I will have joy. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it’s not, I’ll say so. And I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family.”

‘Happy Days’ Signed Off Forever With a Flashback Powered by Elvis Presley’s Saddest Song

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:03am

After 11 seasons, ABC's Happy Days signed off with an emotional flashback powered by one of the saddest songs Elvis Presley ever recorded.

"Passages" was the finale of the beloved comedy series. It featured the wedding of Joanie Cunningham (Erin Moran) and Chachi Arcola (Scott Baio).

The episode was a one-hour special, as reported by Remind Magazine. Joanie and Chachi become engaged, and past cast members returned to celebrate their marriage, tying a big bow on the beloved series.

The series had come to a natural end after many of the original cast members left, such as Donny Most (Ralph), Ron Howard (Richie), Pat Morita (Arnold), and Lynda Goodfriend (Lori Beth) and the storylines began to age out the characters. By the finale, Fonzie (Henry Winkler) was a teacher with an adopted son, the main characters were married, and the show's youngest characters were all college-aged and beyond.

The finale episode tugged on viewer heartstrings, as Elvis Presley's 1968 song "Memories" played in the background of a montage of the series' most memorable moments. The sad Mac Davis and Billy Strange–penned song perfectly captured the bittersweet farewell as the beloved show came to a close.

Just before the montage, Tom Bosley (Howard) broke the fourth wall of television by looking directly into the camera, according to Remind Magazine. The actor delivered a speech thanking fans for being loyal viewers for over a decade.

“Well, what can I say? Both of our children are married now and they’re starting out to build lives of their own," he began.

"And I guess when you reach a milestone like this, you must have to reflect on what you’ve done and what you’ve accomplished. Marion [Marion Ross] and I have not climbed Mount Everest or written a great American novel. But we’ve had the joy of raising two wonderful kids, and watching them and their friends grow up into loving adults."

"And now, we’re going to have the pleasure of watching them pass that love on to their children. And I guess no man or woman could ask for anything more. So thank you all for being part of our family … To happy days.”

Happy Days aired its final episode on May 8, 1984. It marked the end of an era, closing the chapter on a beloved show that had become a defining part of 1970s and ’80s television culture.

The Cast of 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 1: Where Are They Now?

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 7:00am

The people who were born when Grey's Anatomy premiered are now in their second or third year of college. The show is not just a hospital drama but an institution at this point. But do you remember the beginning? The series revitalized Patrick Dempsey's career and made household names out of the Season 1 cast.

Grey's Anatomy was the show you had to watch every Sunday night (yes, it used to air on Sundays!) so you wouldn't miss out on the watercooler conversation in the office the next day. It brought all the great hospital drama of ER but was soapier and messier. You know what makes intense surgeries and emotional patient storylines more appealing? A side of on-call-room hookups and romantic speeches in the hospital elevator.

We are now watching Season 22 of Grey's Anatomy, which is an incredible accomplishment for the creative team and the fans who have followed along for two decades. To celebrate, Parade is looking back at Grey's Anatomy Season 1 and the fictional doctors who helped make this show iconic. Here's a look at the series's regular actors from Grey's Anatomy Season 1 and where they are now.

She became the first actress of Asian descent to win the Lead Actress in a Television Series – Drama Golden Globe in 2019 for Killing Eve. Her other credits include lending her voice to Disney's Turning Red and Paramount's Smurfs, The Chair on Netflix and most recently appearing in HBO's The Sympathizer opposite Robert Downey Jr. and the 2025 comedy film Good Fortune.

Then: Alex Karev was the bad-boy intern turned beloved pediatric surgeon on Grey's. Once Cristina left, he and Meredith were the only members of their intern class remaining on the show. After marrying Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), Alex abruptly left Seattle in Season 16 to reunite with Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) off-screen. He was last seen during the 350th episode of the series.

Where is he now: Chambers' sudden exit from the series prompted a lot of questions that frankly still haven't been answered. The actor said he wanted to leave the show to diversify his acting choices and that "there's no good time to say goodbye to a show and a character that has defined so much of my life." Since leaving the show, Chambers played Marlon Brando in the Paramount+ limited series The Offer about the making of The Godfather. He also appeared in the crime drama Accused.

Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens)

Then: Izzie Stevens was one of the most compassionate interns in Meredith's original class. Her big heart often got her in trouble, whether it was operating on deer or cutting a patient's LVAD wire to move him up on the transplant list (RIP Denny). Heigl won a Primetime Emmy for her early work on Grey's Anatomy, but her controversial statements after the big win, including withdrawing herself from the race in 2008 because she claimed the Grey's writers hadn't given her anything worth submitting, led to a reputational hit. Heigl officially left the series in 2010, citing wanting to spend more time with her family. Her contract was renegotiated so that she could leave partway through Season 6.

Where is she now: Heigl went on to star in multiple movies and TV shows in her post-Grey's Anatomy career. She starred opposite Josh Duhamel in 2010's Life as We Know It and returned to TV in 2014 to head up the short-lived NBC drama State of Affairs. Heigl also headlined the CBS legal drama Doubt, played Samantha Wheeler in the final seasons of Suits and portrayed Tully Hart in Netflix's Firefly Lane series based on Kristin Hannah's novel. Heigl reunited with her Grey's Anatomy co-stars at the 2023 Emmys to celebrate the series' legacy.

T.R. Knight (George O'Malley)

Then: George (T.R. Knight) was one of the most beloved interns in Meredith's class. He was a little clumsy, earning the nickname 007 during his first year, but quickly wormed his way into everyone's hearts. Knight left the series in 2009 after his screentime and George's storylines were reduced on the show. "Leaving Grey's Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much," the actor said in a statement at the time.

Where is he now: Knight left Grey's and went to Broadway for a spell before returning to the silver screen in the Jackie Robinson biopic 42. He followed that up with a guest-starring arc on The Good Wife and then appeared in the Stephen King mini-series 11.22.63. He reunited with Shonda Rhimes in the 2017 ABC series The Catch and returned to Grey's Anatomy during Season 17 when Meredith was in her COVID-19 coma and saw the important people she had lost over the years in her coma dreams. Knight most recently appeared in The Flight Attendant with Kaley Cuoco and the indie films Adam the First and Forge.

Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke)

IMAGO / Album

Then: Derek Shepherd wasn't the only hospital attending with a thing for interns. Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) also struck up a relationship with Cristina Yang in the early seasons of the show. The couple almost got married, but Burke left Cristina at the altar in the Season 3 finale. Washington was written out of the show after using a homophobic slur referencing T.R. Knight during an on-set argument with Patrick Dempsey.

Where is he now: Washington has appeared on several TV shows since leaving Grey's Anatomy, most notably Survivor's Remorse on Starz and in a series regular role on the CW's post-apocalyptic drama The 100. He returned to Grey's Anatomy in 2014 for Sandra Oh's final episode. Burke was the one to offer her the job at the hospital in Switzerland. Washington's most recent credits include the critically acclaimed series P-Valley and the 2026 action film Oscar Shaw. He will next be seen in the prison thriller Escape from Black Water.

Grey's Anatomy continues Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Drew Barrymore and Kevin Bacon Are Obsessed With This Suddenly Trending 1998 Power Ballad

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 6:41am

Scroll through social media for five minutes right now and you'll hear it. A sweeping mandolin intro, immediately recognizable, coming from back in 1998. The Goo Goo Dolls' 'Iris' has gone viral again, and this time it's brought Hollywood along with it.

Drew Barrymore posted a string of grainy, never-before-seen photos from the Never Been Kissed era, timed to the song's chorus. Kevin Bacon went a different direction, leaning into self-deprecating humor with a then-and-now career montage. Both posts racked up millions of likes and set off a wave of Gen X and Millennial nostalgia in the comments sections that followed. Fan accounts dedicated to '90s pop culture have seen their follower counts jump overnight, and the clip of Bacon's video has been reshared across platforms well beyond its original audience.

View this post on Instagram

The song's hold on people was never a mystery. Written for the City of Angels soundtrack, 'Iris' spent 18 weeks at number one on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, a record at the time. It was inescapable in 1998, and apparently still is. As of this week it has climbed back into the UK Top 50 and is surging across Spotify's viral charts. Streams are up across every major platform, and playlist adds have spiked in markets as far apart as Brazil, South Korea, and Germany, suggesting this isn't a purely American wave of nostalgia but something broader.

Related: One Direction's Niall Horan Wrote a Heartbreaking New Song After Losing Liam Payne

John Rzeznik appeared on Todayrecently and seemed genuinely caught off guard by the whole thing. He called the trend a 'blast' and said the song's central theme (the desire to simply be seen) still seems to connect with people. A 2026 remix from DJ Steve Aoki has added some fuel, though it's the original recording that's driving most of the streams.

Brooke Shields and Cameron Mathison have both posted throwback content set to the track. The pattern is consistent: people pairing the song with old photos, old footage, old feelings. In a media environment that moves fast and discards faster, there's something notable about a 28-year-old power ballad demanding people slow down for four minutes. The lyrics were always nakedly emotional and that directness, which might have felt dated a decade ago, feels great today.

The Goo Goo Dolls are reportedly planning an anniversary tour later this year. Whether that materializes or not, the moment is already real. The song is charting, the celebrities are posting, and surely people are hearing a classic for the first time.

Is ‘Sheriff Country’ on Tonight? (March 27, 2026)

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 6:32am

Sheriff Country hasn’t had a new episode in a couple of weeks. The new hit CBSFriday night drama just came back from a two-month break, after which it went on another hiatus.

Unfortunately, that hiatus isn’t over just yet. There is no new episode of Sheriff Country tonight, March 27, and it's all because of college basketball.

Each year around this time, CBS is taken over by March Madness, and that is why, for the second week in a row, Sheriff Country won’t be on. The Sweet 16 will air in place of Sheriff Country, as CBS preempts its regularly scheduled programming.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. New episodes of Sheriff Country are back on Friday, April 3, in a big way. The first-ever Sheriff Country and Fire Country crossover event happens when the CBS drama is back.

As Parade reported, a teaser for the epic event was released, and it did not disappoint. The crossover focuses on a new mystery in Edgewater that forces Sharon (Diane Farr) and Mickey (Morena Baccarin) to have their departments work together before it’s too late.

Sharon, Bode (Max Thieriot), and Eve (Jules Latimer) will guest star on Sheriff Country, which kicks off the crossover. Then it continues onFire Country, where Wes (W. Earl Brown), Boone (Matt Lauria), and Mickey will guest-star.

Once Sheriff Country returns, fans can expect new episodes until the finale in May. Although CBS has yet to announce a finale date, based on the 20-episode order, there are eight new episodes left to air.

It also means the finale should air on Friday, May 22. In more good news for Sheriff Country fans, the show was renewed months ago for Season 2.

Those in need of a Sheriff Country fix can rewatch all Season 1 episodes on Paramount+.

Along with Baccarin, Lauria, and Brown, Sheriff Country also stars Christopher Gorham (Travis), Caroline Rhea (Gina), Michele Weaver (Cassidy), and Amanda Arcuri (Skye).

Sheriff Country airs Fridays at 8/7c on CBS.

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

When the weather can’t decide between sunshine and a breeze, it’s tempting to just hide inside under a cozy sweater. But while sandals and sundresses might still be on hold, that doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to stay in hibernation. A subtle touch of spring — like delicate florals, soft pastels, or sparkling accents — can brighten your outfits and your mood, even when the skies are grey. Jewelry in particular lets you wear the season without worrying about whether it’s warm enough to fully commit.

Right now, Macy’s has the Diamond Accent Rose Flower Pendant Necklace on sale for just $23, marked down 55% from its original $50 price tag. “Delicate,” “beautiful,” and easy to wear, according to shoppers, it injects a hint of spring into your wardrobe, whether you’re headed to brunch, the office, or a spring wedding.

This pendant necklace features a delicate, fine-link 18-inch chain that gives it an airy, lightweight feel while still maintaining a classic polish. Suspended from it is a sculptural rose motif, rendered in a warm gold-plated brass that brings a rich, luminous glow. The petals are outlined in gold but filled with a contrasting silvery, pavé-textured patch made of tiny diamonds, adding dimension and a subtle shimmer without overwhelming the design. The stem curves gently for a fluid, almost whimsical silhouette, with small leaf accents that echo the same two-tone treatment.

Style-wise, it leans into a romantic, slightly vintage-inspired aesthetic with a touch of costume-glam sparkle. Thanks to its adjustable chain extender, you can wear it higher as a delicate collar-length piece with scoop or crew-neck tops, or let it hang a bit longer over V-neck tops and wrap-style blouses for a more dramatic effect. It pairs beautifully with spring dresses, button-down shirts, lightweight sweaters, and even formalwear, too. Layer it with other chains for a curated, modern vibe, or let it shine on its own — the choice is yours to make.

Marriott’s New ‘Series’ Brand is the Answer to Your Mid-Range Europe Travel Prayers

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 6:10am

If you’ve ever planned a trip to Europe, you know the "mid-range" struggle all too well. While finding a five-star splurge in London or a luxury villa in Venice is easy if you have the budget, the affordable scale is often a total roll of the dice. You end up staring at a list of independent guest houses or smaller hotels where the quality is—to put it lightly—hit-or-miss. One place might have "charm" (read: no elevator and spotty Wi-Fi), while the next is just plain dated.

For those of us who are Marriott loyalists, that uncertainty is usually why we stick to what we know. But now, there’s finally a way to get that predictable quality without the high-end price tag. Marriott is officially bringing its new Series by Marriott brand to the UK and Italy, and it feels like the answer to every traveler's "value vs. vibe" dilemma.

Related: Marriott Just Launched a First-of-Its-Kind All-Inclusive Resort in Barbados

Marriott

The magic here is that these aren't cookie-cutter new builds; Marriott is partnering with local experts like the Amapa Group in Italy and Splendid Hospitality Group in the UK to convert existing, character-filled hotels into the Series portfolio. You get a property that actually feels like the neighborhood it’s in—with locally inspired designs and regional flair—but with the "Marriott guarantee" on the things that actually matter: a comfortable bed, a seamless check-in and reliable essentials.

In the UK, this means you'll soon find these trusted hubs in prime London spots like Kings Cross, Euston and Earls Court. If you’ve ever tried to find a reasonably priced, reliable room near the center of London, you know exactly why this is a game-changer. Meanwhile, in Italy, the brand is popping up in Venice, along with coastal gems like Rimini and Peschici, and even the outskirts of Rome in Pomezia.

For the points fans, the best part is obviously the Bonvoy connection. You can finally book those mid-range European "discovery" trips, stay in a hotel that feels authentic to the locale, and still rack up points (or use them!) with the peace of mind that comes from a brand you actually trust. It’s about time the "middle ground" in Europe got a little more reliable.

1980 Gritty Honky Tonk Love Song Turned a John Travolta Movie Soundtrack Into a Smash Hit

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 5:52am

In 1980, John Travolta was riding high off the success of Saturday Night Fever and Grease when he slipped into cowboy boots for a new role, backed by a gritty honky-tonk hit that helped propel its soundtrack to the top of the charts.

Urban Cowboy seemed like an unlikely bookend to Travolta's hugely successful run as a box office star. However, its message of love, resilience, and ambition struck a chord with audiences, helping turn the film and its soundtrack into a cultural phenomenon.

The breakout hit from the film soundtrack was the song "Lookin' For Love," performed by Johnny Lee. The track quickly became a barroom favorite and helped bring the film’s honky-tonk spirit to audiences far beyond the theater.

However, the story behind the song is a perfect mix of being in the right place at the right time, a killer hook, and lyrics that pull at the heartstrings. It’s the kind of lightning-in-a-bottle moment that turns a simple track into a lasting classic.

According to Rolling Stone Australia, Lee led the house band at the Houston, Texas bar Gilley's. Named for country superstar Mickey Gilley, the bar became the backdrop for Urban Cowboy, giving the film the authentic atmosphere needed to sell the story of Bud Davis (Travolta), who finds escape there from his troubled marriage to Sissy (Debra Winger).

The Eagles manager, Irving Azoff, approached Lee and asked him if he wanted to be a part of a movie soundtrack he was working on. Lee agreed, but didn't have any idea that his song would be the track that propelled its popularity.

"I knew ['Lookin For Love'] was a hit," Lee said in a vintage interview shared on his Instagram page. "I didn't know if it was going to be a hit."

RELATED: 1980 Freewheeling Country Classic That Became the Ultimate Road Trip Anthem

"What the Urban Cowboy movie did was give it the exposure that it needed. A lot of young people who would have said, 'I don't like country music,' came to see John Travolta in the movie, all this music hits them, and they say, 'hey, I like that.'"

In a twist of fate, the song that became Lee's signature tune was found in a cardboard box. He said in an interview, "I found that song in a cardboard box in Houston, Texas, written by Patti Ryan, Wanda Mallette, and Bob Morrison. Two schoolteachers from Gulfport, Mississippi, who never had a song recorded before in their lives."

Lee continued, "That got their idea for that song from a classroom of second-grade children. There were thousands of cassette tapes in boxes. But within the first 15 to 20 songs, I pulled out a song called 'Lookin' For Love' and fell in love with the lyrics."

"Lookin' For Love" would help propel the Urban Cowboy soundtrack to the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Country Charts. The song stayed on the charts for 37 weeks, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and at No. 5 on the pop charts reported the Sun Herald.

Iconic '80s Boy Band Impresses With 'Amazing' Live Performance

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 5:33am

New Edition continues to impress with their longevity after nearly five decades in music.

The iconic boy band—which formed in 1978 in their hometown of Boston, Mass., and charted their very first No. 1 R&B hit with their 1983 debut, "Candy Girl"—is still treating fans to the "best concert they've ever been to," and let longtime supporters tell it, they've still not skipped a beat, even after all these years.

A glorious concert comeback for the R&B ensemble, The New Edition Way Tour comprises all six members: Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill (who joined in 1987 to replace Brown, at the time).

Dressed to impress in matching all-white ensembles, later switching to coordinating powder blue suits and sparkly black 'fits, they've put their enduring talent and timeless moves on full display at each show—and the sold-out Washington, D.C. stop was no different.

BPC / Jamece Hall

Alongside Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton, the group delivered nothing short of an epic show while performing at the city's Capital One Arena on Friday, March 13.

The musical collective took fans through their catalog of legendary songs, including "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," "Telephone Man," "Can You Stand the Rain," "If It Isn't Love," "You're Not My Kind of Girl," "N.E. Heart Break," and more. And it didn't stop there. They also stunned with solo hits: Gill's "My, My, My," Tresvant's "Sensitivity," Bel Biv DeVoe's "Poison" and "Do Me Baby," and Brown's "Tenderoni" and "Don't Be Cruel."

Boyz II Men—discovered by NE's Bivins in 1989 after they caught him backstage as teens and impressed him with their voices—also brought fans to their feet, belting out soulful renditions of their hits "Motown Philly," "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," and more.

Not to be left out, Braxton gripped the crowd with her deep, smooth vocals and sultry displays of "Un-Break My Heart," "Breathe Again," "He Wasn't Man Enough," "Just Be a Man About It," and "Long As I Live."

One aspect that particularly left a lasting impression is the unique way in which the show was curated: the trio of acts was woven in seamlessly, alternating hit for hit.

The New Edition Way Tour kicked off on Jan. 28 in Oakland, Calif. Now on the tail end of the concert series, the tour is slated to wrap up next week on Saturday, April 4, when they hit Houston, Tex. to perform their final presentation at Toyota Center. Based on the overwhelming fan response, though, it won't be their last time on the road.

BPC / Jamece Hall Fan Reactions Pour In After the "Amazing" Show

Fans across social media raved over the set, dropping in with comments to express their emotions.

"We need a 2nd show in DC!!! Show was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️," one insisted, while another said, "The show was amazing 🙌."

"DC WAS LIT!🔥🔥 y’all def brought the energy 😎," a third exclaimed, with a fourth chiming in, "NE is #1🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥," and a fifth agreeing with that sentiment: "Only group to top New Edition is New Edition ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #NE4LIFE."

Someone else campaigned, "Man I hope this concert recorded for release."

Others were upset at the rate the tickets were purchased: "I’ma be mad at y’all for a while DC needed a 2nd show those tickets were gone too fast & the reseller prices were ridiculous."

Fifty years ago, Diana Rosshad her first disco hit with “Love Hangover.” The song, from the Supremes legend’s self-titled 1976 album, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 29, 1976, and remained there for two weeks.

Just ahead of the song’s 50th anniversary in 2026, Billboard named “Love Hangover” one of the top 50 love songs of all time.

The outlet described the Pam Sawyer/Marilyn McLeod-penned disco song as an “anomaly” for the Motown-based Ross, who was reportedly hesitant to record it, although she’d go on to release future disco hits “Upside Down,” “I’m Coming Out,” and more.

“Ross had no problem with the slow, seductive first half but started laughing when the beats-per-minute increased, protesting she couldn’t sing that part,” the outlet noted. “Producer Hal Davis created a club atmosphere in the studio and Ross got into it.”

Didn’t like disco—at first

“Love Hangover”  helped define disco and dance music in the late 1970s, and its dreamy, lovestruck vibe remains timeless more than five decades later. But it almost didn’t happen.

Davis shared the backstory on “Love Hangover” in J. Randy Taraborrelli's biography, Diana Ross, admitting that “no one really liked disco here at Motown.”

Still, the producer knew “Love Hangover,” which starts as a dreamy ballad before flipping to an upbeat disco groove, had the potential to be a hit.

Ross wasn’t as sure. “She liked the lyric to 'Love Hangover,' but people thought I was a little off for even suggesting that Diana do this song,” Davis said.

The music producer planned a nighttime recording session with a strobe light. And although Ross liked the club-like atmosphere, she still playfully protested the disco half of the song, claiming she didn’t think she could do it. In the end, she had fun with the song and can even be heard laughing on the disco part of the track.

According to Taraborrelli ‘s book, Ross once said, "It was a spontaneous thing that we captured on record, and if I had to go back in and do it again, I couldn't have. The music was me and I was the music. Things came out of my mouth that I didn't even expect."

A cover version spawned a rush  release

While Ross included “Love Hangover” on her album, it wasn’t the first choice for a single. Ultimately, the lead single, "I Thought It Took A Little Time," was cut short.

According to Classic Motown, “Love Hangover” was rushed as the second single after The Fifth Dimension heard the song and recorded a quick cover version. Ross’s original quickly topped the cover version on the charts.

Ross would go on to perform “Love Hangover” everywhere from The Midnight Special to The Muppet Show.

The music legend followed up the success of “Love Hangover” with the album Baby, It’s Me in 1977, as well as a lead role in the big-screen funk/disco musical The Wiz.

Speaking with Rolling Stone in 1977, Ross noted, “You see, I’ve done so much in the last 15 years. I started off doing tunes like this, then I went into another area, then got all the way up to Billie Holiday songs, jazz and all that. …I wanted to follow up ‘Love Hangover’ with a disco-type album.”

We Asked 3 Metabolism Experts What People on GLP-1s Should Never Skip—They All Agreed

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 5:25am

If you’re among the one in eight adults in the U.S. currently taking a GLP-1, you already know how the drug can support weight loss and type 2 diabetes management. Part of what makes it so effective is the impact it has on metabolism.

GLP-1 medications affect metabolism by altering how our brains balance fat burning and fat storage. They make it slightly easier to lose a certain percentage of weight, depending on the medication,” explains obesity medicine doctor Dr. Meghan Garcia-Webb, MD

Dr. Talal Khan,MD, an internist and obesity medicine specialist at Khan Longevity Care, adds to this, saying that GLP-1s can lead to metabolic resilience, which is the body’s ability to adapt to changes and bounce back quickly. For example, a metabolically resilient person experiences less dramatic shifts in blood sugar, uses nutrients more efficiently and responds better to environmental stressors.

According to Dr. Khan, the benefits of this go beyond weight loss; it increases longevity too. Dr. Pooja Gidwani, MD, an internal medicine and obesity medicine doctor, agrees, explaining, “GLP-1 medications can improve several metabolic markers independent of weight loss, including insulin sensitivity, inflammation and cardiometabolic risk factors.”

But in order for you to get the full metabolic benefits while taking a GLP-1, there’s one habit that all three of the metabolism experts we spoke to say you should never skip.

The Habit People on GLP-1s Should Never Skip, 3 Obesity Medicine Doctors Say

To best support your metabolism while taking a GLP-1, all three of the doctors we spoke to told Parade that it’s important to get enough protein. “Protein is critical during weight loss because it helps preserve lean muscle mass, which also helps to protect bone density,” Dr. Gidwani says.

She explains that maintaining muscle directly impacts metabolism. “Muscle plays an important role in metabolic health because it is one of the most metabolically active tissues in the body and helps regulate glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. If protein intake is too low, the body may break down muscle along with fat during weight loss,” she says.

Dr. Gidwani adds that if someone consumes too little protein while losing weight, they may lose a greater proportion of muscle. “Over time, losing muscle can reduce resting metabolic rate, increase fatigue and make weight maintenance more difficult,” she says.

Dr. Khan agrees that getting enough protein is important for maintaining muscle mass, something he says is key to healthy aging and longevity. He says that losing too much muscle can lead to fatigue, weakness and make weight regain more likely over time.

Scientific research backs up the connection between muscle loss and reduced longevity. According to a 2023 study published in the Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, low muscle mass was linked to a 36% higher risk of all-cause mortality.

In terms of how much protein you should aim to get each day, Dr. Garcia-Webb says a good goal is 1 to 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight per day. “For someone who has an ideal body weight of 150 pounds, this works out to roughly 70 to 80 grams of protein per day,” she says.

How To Make Sure You’re Getting Enough Protein While Taking a GLP-1

All three doctors say that it can be challenging to consistently get enough protein while taking a GLP-1 because the primary way the medicine works is by suppressing appetite.

According to Dr. Gidwani, one way to make sure you’re consuming enough protein is by structuring meals around it. When you start eating your meal, she says to eat the protein first. That way, if you feel full before eating everything, you can still check off your protein box.

If you find that your appetite is really low, Dr. Gidwani says that drinking smoothies made with protein powder can help. She also says that spreading protein out throughout the day with various small meals and snacks may be easier than having three bigger protein-centric meals, if you find that you’re often not hungry. Additionally, Dr. Gidwani recommends prioritizing protein early in the day to avoid playing protein catch-up later.

Dr. Khan cosigns all of these suggestions. Not sure what protein-rich foods to build your meals around? He says that Greek yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, fish, chicken, tofu and edamame are all great options.

There are other ways you can support your metabolism while taking a GLP-1. All three doctors say that strength training is also important. This is because it helps preserve muscle, which, as explained earlier, is key for supporting metabolism.

“Regular movement throughout the day also plays a role. Non-exercise activity, things like walking, standing and daily movement, contribute meaningfully to overall energy expenditure,” Dr. Gidwani adds, sharing another metabolism-supporting habit. Additionally, she says that getting adequate sleep, staying hydrated and avoiding extremely restrictive calorie intake are also important for maintaining metabolic health during weight loss.

“GLP-1 medications are powerful tools, but they work best when paired with a deliberate plan for nutrition, strength preservation and follow-up. [It’s important] not to think only in terms of pounds lost. Body composition, strength, energy level and long-term sustainability matter too,” Dr. Khan says.

With that in mind, if you have any questions about how to support your metabolism while taking a medication like Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro, or how to make sure you’re getting enough protein, consider working with a registered dietitian. Together, you can create a plan that fits your dietary preferences and lifestyle.

Taking a GLP-1 can certainly support metabolism, but for it to work its magic, it’s important that you’re doing your part too. Even with the best drugs, nothing can replace the power of healthy diet and lifestyle habits.

Why This New W Hotel Is Turning Sardinia into 2026’s Hottest Island Escape

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 5:10am

If your group chat is currently debating which Mediterranean island is worth the long-haul flight this year, let me end the argument: It’s Sardinia. While the jet set has been flocking to the Amalfi Coast for decades, there is a "hidden gem" energy in Northern Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda that is finally, officially, having its major moment—and it's all thanks to a very chic new neighbor.

For the first time ever, Delta has launched a nonstop flight from JFK to Olbia, effectively rolling out the turquoise carpet for U.S. travelers starting in May 2026. What used to be a multi-leg trek involving a stressful connection in Rome or Milan is now a direct shot to the "Emerald Coast." And the destination at the end of that flight? The brand-new W Sardinia–Poltu Quatu.

The hotel is tucked into Poltu Quatu—which literally translates to "hidden port"—a natural fjord that feels like a secret carved into the granite cliffs. The design, spearheaded by the visionaries at Meyer Davis, is a love letter to Sardinian heritage. Think whitewashed walls, cedar joinery and Moorish curves that mimic the wind-swept landscape. It’s "cool luxury" at its finest—the staff even wears playful blue safari jackets as a nod to the area’s cinematic history (this is James Bond territory, after all).

The "Suite" Life and Liquid Gold

For a milestone trip, the W Suites are the move. They’ve managed to capture a "Balearic-meets-Sardinian" vibe with calming beach tones and Italian marble bathrooms. But the real star is the culinary scene. You haven't truly lived until you’ve had the squid “tagliatelle” at TANIT—fresh mollusk sliced so thin it mimics pasta, served overlooking the picturesque bay.

For something a bit more "Soho House" casual, the W Lounge by the pool is the place to be. Do not sleep on the lime-zested fries; they are the snack you didn't know you needed between dips in the grotto pool.

New for 2026: The Ultimate Recharge

If you’re planning your trip for late spring, you’re in luck. The resort is debuting its brand-new AWAY Spa and an exclusive W Beach Club in April 2026, making it a fully realized sanctuary. When you aren't lounging under the waterfall in the "Secret Garden" pool area, you can hop on the hotel’s shuttle to explore the nearby boutiques or head to the La Maddalena archipelago for a day of sailing in water so clear it looks like it’s been filtered for Instagram.

Between the new direct flights and the "approachable luxury" of the W, the Costa Smeralda isn't just a destination for the yacht-owning elite anymore—it’s the definitive 2026 escape for anyone who wants a little more "emerald" in their life.
