Senate Approves TSA Funding, but Things Aren't Going to Get Better at the Airport Just Yet

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 11:00am

In a surprising turnaround, the U.S. Senate voted early on Friday morning of March 27, 2026 to approve Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funds that were being held up as part of a partial government shutdown. This measure would allow paychecks to finally get cut for Transportation Security Agents (TSA), after the legislative infighting forced agents to work without pay.

However, the relief won't be immediate for TSA agents or the travelers who rely on them for support at the airport. Instead, delays may continue to be felt for days, if not weeks, as a result of the funding breakdown. Here's what you need to know.

The Associated Press reported that the Senate convened early Friday morning to approve funding for the DHS to pay TSA agents. The bill that was passed would allow DHS to pay some other agencies, but would continue to prevent them from paying the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, the issue that was at the heart of the initial shutdown.

The deal was met with unanimous approval, and it will next head to the House of Representatives sometime later today. This could mean the end of the 42 day stalemate that kept some agencies running without funding, and allow money to start flowing to agencies like, but not limited to, the:

  • United States Coast Guard (USCG)
  • Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

“We can get at least a lot of the government opened up again and then we’ll go from there,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune, told the Associated Press of the bipartisan approval. “Obviously, we’ll still have some work ahead of us.”

The TSA Funding May Not Spell Immediate Relief for Travelers

While President Donald Trump has publicly said he will sign off on the funding bill when it reaches his desk in order to stop the "chaos at the airports," the end to this chaotic travel season may not come as quickly as everyone would like.

First, the bill will need to get through the house and to the president in order to be signed. Since this is only a partial funding measure, there may be those who don't want to approve the measure until ICE and Customs and Border Protection—another agency not included in the funding bill—are also fully funded.

Related: What Is the Fastest Way to Get Through the TSA Today?

Then, the funds will have to be released. Even if everything happens today, it could take a few days for some banks to release direct payments to TSA employees.

Lastly, there's the issue of staffing. Many TSA agents were forced to look for other jobs during the shut down, since many people can't afford to continue working without pay. That staff reduction could take a while to be corrected, especially since many people may not be interested in applying for a job where your paycheck frequently becomes jeopardized as part of a political power play. I know that I would be a little leery of taking a job in an industry that has forced its employees to stay home, or otherwise work without pay, several times over the past year, and I can't imagine I'm alone in that thinking.

‘Outlander’ Stars Tease a Risky New Romance — And There’s One Major Problem (Exclusive)

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 11:00am

One of the things that has made Outlandersuch a hit series for STARZ is that in addition to being an epic time-travel historical drama, it is also always a love story. It began with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Beauchamp (Caitríona Balfe), then moved on to the next generation when their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) fell in love with Roger Wakefield MacKenzie (Richard Rankin). And now it looks as if Jamie’s illegitimate son William Ranson (Charles Vandervaart) may have met his soulmate in Amaranthus Grey (Carla Woodcock).

But there’s a hitch before these two can become lovers. Amaranthus is believed to be a widow, but William is not so sure that her husband Ben (Alex Bhat), his cousin, has met his demise, and has tasked himself with trying to track down the truth about his cousin’s death.

“I think there are reasons outside of Amaranthus why he truly wants to know what happened to Ben,” Vandervaart exclusively tells Parade. “Obviously, Ben was his mentor. He really looked up to his older cousin. I think he followed his footsteps, going into the military largely because of his cousin. But I do think that this relationship is charged by the guilt that William feels about potentially having romantic feelings for his cousin’s wife.”

Those feelings will inspire William even more than before to discover the true circumstances of what happened to his cousin.

Charles Vandervaart, Carla Woodcock

“Initially, when he met Amaranthus, he wasn’t even convinced that she was Ben’s wife, because I think he was hesitant to believe her and he was filled with hurt,” Vandervaart continues. “We’re on this journey now, the enemies-to-lovers trope. It didn’t necessarily start off the way a lot of romances do, but I think it is moving in a direction of romance, and they have great chemistry together, so I’m rooting for them.”

What’s interesting for a show set in the 18th century is that Amaranthus is very forward for a woman of her time. In fact, in a previous episode, she actually initiated a kiss with William. Unheard of at the time. So, even taking into consideration that as a widow, she knows more about what goes on between men and women than an innocent maiden from the era, it is bold.

“In my mind, I think she’s always been raised to be outspoken, and I don’t think anyone’s ever told her that she needs to quiet her voice,” Woodcock tells Parade. “I think she feels quite empowered to say what she thinks. She also doesn’t come from this [upper class] world, so I think she doesn’t really buy into its social normalities too much.”

Charles Vandervaart, David Berry

Courtesy: STARZ

There’s also the added factor that, yes, Lord John Grey (David Berry) has taken her under his wing and accepted her as his nephew Ben’s widow, even though Ben had never mentioned her. So, she may feel the need to solidify her position by attaching herself to William, who while not heir to the Duke of Pardlow title, has his own: Ninth Earl of Ellesmere.

“Yes, her son has a title, but she, I don’t think, feels 100 percent safe in her spot, her place in the Grey family,” Woodcock continues. “As I said, she doesn’t come from this world, so I think she does want to be married to have that security, but also, I think she’s probably quite lonely. She doesn’t have her support network around her, so I think when she meets William, and they get on, and they have such a natural friendship, I think she’s like, ‘Oh, this is great. This can be my little pal, my little partner.’ So, I think she gets kind of excited by the idea and the romance of it all again, because she hasn’t got that anymore.”

Related:Sam Heughan Reflects on How ‘Outlander’ Has Changed Everything (Exclusive)

And neither does William, who has made disastrous choices when it comes to women. He was attracted to Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small), who ended up marrying his cousin Ian (John Bell). And then he was attracted to Jane (Silvia Presente), who, as a prostitute, was totally unacceptable, but he liked her anyway and vowed to protect her. And, of course, she took her own life, leaving him bereft that he couldn’t keep her safe.

And now, William is getting involved with his cousin’s widow, who could still be his wife if Ben isn’t dead. And what’s interesting is how intimate their conversations have become because William admits to Amaranthus that he is literally a bastard – though not technically one since his mother was married at the time of his birth – because Jamie is his biological father and Brianna, who she was jealous of is actually his half-sister.

“I think that maybe reveals a level of acceptance of his situation, and I think that he is wallowing in self-pity and he’s very much a wounded animal at this point,” Vandervaart says. “I think he finds security in Amaranthus and he can finally discuss his situation with someone who he feels he can trust that isn’t directly a part of that situation. So, I think a lot of it is getting it off his chest.”

Related: Outlander’s Caitríona Balfe Says Final Season Was Her Most Difficult Yet — Here’s Why (Exclusive)

It also helped that Amaranthus told William that a title is something you hold, not something you are, and they were words that he needed to hear.

Carla Woodcock, Charles Vandervaart

Courtesy: STARZ

“She did a great job of showing William that his title as the 9th Earl of Ellesmere doesn’t have to be his entire identity, it could be just something that he has,” Vandervaart says. “A person has innate worth outside of where they sit on this hierarchy, and I think that that’ll be very healthy for him moving forward. She’s a great influence in that way.”

So, how did Amaranthus get so smart?

“She reads a lot of books,” Woodcock says. “She’s spent a lot of time growing up around people. She says her father was a book seller. I think she probably grew up in quite a rich world full of a lot of different people, so I think she’s innately emotionally mature and quite perceptive and has empathy for what William is going through.”

Researchers Believe They May Have Just Made an Unbelievable Underground Discovery in Egypt

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:55am

I'm always tickled to find that we're still learning more about ancient cultures and civilizations. That's because it's fascinating to discover that there's still so much we don't know about those who came before us, no matter how long ago they existed on this Earth. That's especially true for ancient Egypt, which is believed to have existed thousands of years ago.

But, despite being so old, researchers are always learning more about what went on way back then thanks to emerging technologies that allow us to literally look deeper than ever before. Now, researchers say that their latest round of imaging may have uncovered two massive finds, including an ancient megastructure and a second Sphinx. If true, this will change everything we thought we knew about the region.

Researcher Found Signs of a Second Sphinx

Alright history buffs, you're going to want to hold onto your hats because researchers say that underground scans that were completed in the area surrounding the Great Pyramid of Giza appear to show evidence that a second Sphinx is buried beneath the sand.

Filippo Biondi, One of the radar engineers responsible for the find appeared on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast, where he shared the exciting news, saying that he was "very confident" about his findings, adding that he was about "80 percent" sure that the massive structure he found would turn out to be a second version of the iconic structure.

Related: Most Stressful US Airports 2026: New Data Exposes the Fragility of US Aviation Amid the LaGuardia Runway Investigation

Biondi added that he found "symmetrical correlations" that led him to believe that the structure he found would turn out to be another Sphinx. But, that wasn't all Biondi had to say, he also shared that he thinks there's an "underground megastructure" down there as well due to the presence of "vertical shafts" and "horizontal passages."

But, not everyone believes the hype. According to Lad Bible, several researchers say it's too soon to get excited about this discovery, since there were other structures that were found that would disprove the theory.

Other critics said that the methods used to detect these structures wasn't "scientifically approved."

Researchers Keep Making New Discoveries in Egypt

News of a second Sphinx aside, there are many other exciting finds coming out of Egypt, that hopeful travelers could potentially get to check out the next time they are in town. For example, Popular Mechanics says that archaeologists made a pretty big find on the west bank of the Nile, where excavated tombs were found to hold hundreds of years worth of artifacts and history, including:

  • Hieroglyphics
  • Ceramic pots
  • Personal items
  • Mirrors
  • Jewlery

These items aren't on display yet, but hopefully they will be soon enough. As for those artifacts you can see now, you may want to check out some of the region's most renowned museums, including The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which overlooks the Giza Plateau and pyramids, and contains more than 50,000 pieces that cover around 7,000 years of history.

Daredevil's 'Kingpin' Actor Hung up on Stanley Kubrick

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:40am

Thursday night Vincent D'Onofrio told Seth Meyers about a mistake that almost cost him his career.

D'Onofrio was working the floor at the Hard Rock Cafe on 57th Street in New York when a chance encounter set his career on a different trajectory. His friend Matthew Modine, on hiatus from a film shoot, walked past with his wife. When D'Onofrio asked what he was working on, Modine told him it was a Stanley Kubrick movie, and passed along an address where hopefuls were sending materials.

D'Onofrio, who had a theater agent but no film representation, scraped together about $60 with a friend, rented a camera, and sat on a stoop at 10th Avenue and 21st Street to record a monologue. A film student at NYU edited the tape. D'Onofrio mailed it in, expecting nothing.

About a week later, the phone rang. The voice on the other end claimed to be calling on behalf of Stanley Kubrick. D'Onofrio assumed it was one of his friends, off-duty firefighters and cops who worked second jobs and regularly gave him grief about wanting to be an actor. He hung up.

They called back immediately. 'Don't hang up!' said Leon Vitali, Kubrick's right-hand man. 'Stanley Kubrick wants to talk to you.'

D'Onofrio's mistake was understandable. He told Meyers he had assumed Kubrick was British. He didn't know the director was from the Bronx.

The role was Private Leonard 'Pyle' in Full Metal Jacket, and landing it required D'Onofrio to gain 80 pounds, going from roughly 210 to 290. He was also permitted to sit with Kubrick during the filming of Vietnam sequences before his own scenes began, which he said, was a front-row education in how the notoriously exacting director worked. Kubrick communicated to actors via megaphone from 40 feet away, D'Onofrio recalled, and was known to push well past the takes most directors would consider sufficient. The most D'Onofrio personally did was nine, for a scene called 'The Blanket Party.' He said he witnessed other actors pushed to around 60.

Related: Critics Are Calling 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 One of the Best Marvel TV Seasons Ever

Forty years later, D'Onofrio is back as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a 'Kingpin,' in season two of Daredevil: Born Again, now airing Tuesdays on Disney+. He no longer gains weight for the role. Instead he wears a fat suit, and has been open about finding it miserable. He noted that Colin Farrell, who wore a similar suit for The Penguin, became a friend partly through that shared grievance.

For the boxing scenes this season, D'Onofrio wanted Kingpin's arms and shoulders visible, which meant training hard enough that his upper body looked proportional to the suit. The result is on screen.

D'Onofrio's journey from a stoop on 10th Avenue to the undisputed crime lord of New York has certainly had its ups and downs (if you'll pardon the pun). But it was well worth it.

Classic '90s Character Voiced by Glen Powell in Star-Studded 'Mario' Sequel

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:31am

The list goes on when it comes to A-listers featured in the next Nintendo movie.

Hitting theaters April 1, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has now introduced Glen Powell to voice Fox McCloud, the surprise Nintendo character joining the beloved Mario Bros. in their highly anticipated next outing.

Powell, 37, posted a video on Instagram announcing the news on Friday, March 27. "Born to Barrel Roll" reads his post's caption, referencing the beloved Star Fox 64 video game — which fans grew up playing alongside the Super Mario installments on Nintendo in the 1990s.

View this post on Instagram

Fans have been quick to express their excitement for Powell's inclusion in the Super Mario sequel film as Fox, flooding the comments section of his Instagram post with their support. "Our childhood is coming back to life! đŸŠŠđŸ’«," wrote one user, while another person commented, "⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ casting."

To clear up any confusion, there was indeed a Fox-Mario crossover during the days of Nintendo 64. For gamers back in the '90s, a go-to cartridge was Super Smash Bros., which featured characters from both the Mario universe as well as Fox McCloud himself. Fox's sidekicks were later added to future installments of the Smash gaming franchise.

And if portraying Fox the space pilot feels like a good fit for Powell, that sentiment may be tied to his standout turn in Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise in 2022. Earlier this year, Powell starred in the black comedy film How to Make a Killing.

Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are returning in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as Mario and Luigi, respectively. They’re joined by returning stars:

  • Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Beach
  • Jack Black as Bowser
  • Keegan-Michael Key as Toad

As previously reported, the sequel is also introducing:

  • Donald Glover as Yoshi
  • Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
  • Brie Larson as Rosalina

The inclusion of Fox was a surprise, but die-hard Nintendo fans were able to spot the heroic character in a recent Super Mario Galaxy Movietrailer, Variety reports.

Pfeifer Says She Was Told to Be ‘Sexier’ in ‘Age of Attraction’ Scenes With Derrick

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:28am

Age of Attraction Season 1 showed multiple couples with wide age gaps. They decided whether to stay together or go their separate ways in the finale of the Netflix show.

Pfeiffer Hill was 23 and connected with Derrick Fleming. He was a 43-year-old father of two. She revealed an unseen date was framed to show a sexier side of their relationship, but ended in tears.

Pfeiffer Says She Had an Emotional Breakdown During Age of Attraction Pfeifer Hill and Derrick Fleming on 'Age of Attraction'

Netflix

"I was told while filming Age of Attraction that I needed to be sexier," Pfeiffer said in a TikTok that she posted on March 26. "Just to preface, I am not good with PDA in a means to show our relationship in a more flirty light, Derrick and I went on this date where we were supposed to play sexy truth or dare."

Pfeiffer said she had an "emotional breakdown" because it didn't feel natural to her. "Everybody was very nice to us about it," the student later said. "But they were kind of like, 'It's good for you to explore this side of things.'"

She said the environment inherently puts pressure on you because a crew is there to film. Pfeiffer and Derrick did one question before she started crying. She explained that her past with sex didn't include her consent, which made her uncomfortable with it. Pfeiffer said Derrick was supportive.

Someone in the comments asked if there was a therapist or counsellor for the cast. "Yes!" Pfeiffer answered. "We always had psychologists available, and they were very good about checking on our mental health." She later wrote, "The date didn't impact my mental health, it was more so just rough/upsetting recollecting the past."

We've seen cast on other Netflix shows playing similar games like The Ultimatum Queer Love. Age of Attraction had more natural dates.

The Outfits, the Salary, the Legend: All About Kim Mulkey

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:19am

When the lights go down and the March Madness pressure turns up, there is one undeniable force pacing the sidelines: Kim Mulkey. As her LSU Tigers gear up for tonight's Sweet 16 matchup against Duke, millions of eyes won't just be on the players—they'll be glued to the Tigers' legendary head coach.

To call Mulkey a trailblazer almost feels like an understatement. She is an absolute icon of the sport—the very first person in NCAA women's basketball history to win a national championship as a player, an assistant coach and a head coach. With her signature fiery passion, unapologetic intensity and a championship pedigree that speaks entirely for itself, Mulkey has become a cultural phenomenon.

But beyond her fierce game face is a devoted mentor who shares an unbreakable bond with her team, protecting and uplifting her players both on and off the court.

And of course, you can't talk about Kim Mulkey without mentioning the fashion. From sequined tiger stripes and neon power suits to flamboyant feather accents, her outfits consistently go viral for a reason!

We're breaking down who the woman behind the sequins really is. From her record-breaking salary to her family ties, here is everything you need to know about trailblazing LSU coach Kim Mulkey.

What is Kim Mulkey’s salary?

Kim Mulkey is the highest-paid women's college basketball coach in the country—and it's not even close. After leading the LSU Lady Tigers to their first-ever national championship in 2023, Mulkey signed a 10-year, $36 million contract extension with the university. Her compensation started at $3.15 million in the first year.

On top of her base pay, Mulkey can earn bonuses in the post-season. For example, $5,000 for making the Sweet 16 and $30,000 if the team plays in the national championship.

The investment speaks to just how transformative Mulkey has been for LSU. Since her arrival in 2021, the Tigers have become one of the most exciting programs in the country—literally filling arenas, drawing national TV audiences and recruiting at an elite level.

If you've watched even just highlights from an LSU women's basketball game, you already know Mulkey's got the fashion game on lock. "I'm 62 years old, and I'm a team player," she told TODAY in 2025. "That's how I got talked into this sparkle stuff, and I said I'll do it for the team, it'll sell tickets to those fashionistas that know nothing about basketball."

Most of Mulkey's game day looks come from Queen of Sparkles—a Baton Rouge-based clothing line led by designer Jaime Glas. Glas now creates pieces with Mulkey specifically in mind, and the partnership has become one of the most fun fashion stories in college sports. Mulkey has also been seen in ensembles from alice + olivia, Nadine Merabi and local Louisiana designer Martha Gottwald of Neubyrne.

How old is Kim Mulkey?

Kim Mulkey was born on May 17, 1962, making her 63 years old—and she is showing absolutely zero signs of slowing down any time soon. This season, the Tigers have reached the Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive year.

Inside her young playing career at Louisiana Tech

Before she was a coaching legend, Mulkey was a 5-foot-4 point guard with French braids and a legendary pass.

At Louisiana Tech, she was an All-American point guard who led the team to two national titles—including the inaugural NCAA championship in 1982. But her focus in the classroom was just as intense as her attention on the court: She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in business.

How many national championships has Kim Mulkey won?

As mentioned above, during her time playing for Louisiana Tech, she won two national championships. She also won a title while an assistant coach at the university. Finally, as a head coach, Mulkey led Baylor to three NCAA championships and during her time at LSU, the team took the title in 2023.

That's seven national championships across her career. In fact, she is the only person in NCAA basketball history—men's or women's—to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach. As far as head coaches go, only UConn's Geno Auriemma and the late, great Pat Summitt of Tennessee have won more women's championships.

Why did Kim Mulkey leave Baylor?

After 21 seasons at Baylor—where she built the Lady Bears from a last-place program into a three-time national champion—Mulkey made the decision to return to Louisiana in 2021. However, she's stressed that it was not financial. "I did not come to LSU because they gave me more money than Baylor," she told the Trey Gowdy Podcast in 2023. "It was just a feeling in my gut that said, you need to go help your state."

In 2021, she accepted the head coach position at LSU. In her second season with the team, she delivered the program's first-ever national championship. By the way, this is a team that had gone 9-13 the season before she arrived. LSU is now an absolute powerhouse, reaching the Sweet 16 for four straight years.

What happened between Kim Mulkey and Brittney Griner? Griner and Mulkey hug after Baylor's 2012 NCAA national championship victory.

Doug Pensinger/Getty Images

The relationship between Kim Mulkey and Brittney Griner is one of the most talked-about storylines in women's basketball.

You see, Mulkey coached Griner from 2009 to 2013, and together they achieved incredible things—including a perfect 40-0 season and the 2012 national championship. There's no question that Mulkey's coaching helped develop Griner into the No. 1 overall WNBA Draft pick she became.

However, since then, Griner has revealed that she wasn't comfortable opening up about her identity due to Baylor's culture (it's a private Baptist university). She did not mention Mulkey in particular, but described the tension in her 2014 memoir. Griner also did acknowledge her respect for Mulkey's coaching ability and the way Mulkey defended her against bullies.

But the matter resurfaced in 2022 during Griner's detention in Russia. Mulkey was criticized for not making a public statement of support during that time. However, when asked directly about it at a 2023 press conference, Mulkey said she was glad Griner was home safe.

It's a relationship shaped by the intersection of sports, identity and institutional culture—and one that has clearly evolved over time. What's undeniable is that these women accomplished incredible things together and both have left an extraordinary mark on the game.

Kim Mulkey's health: Did she have cancer?

No, Kim Mulkey did not have cancer—her 2023 health scare was actually related to her heart.

In June 2023—just weeks after coaching LSU to the national championship—Mulkey had two stents placed in a coronary artery that was 95-99% blocked. The discovery happened almost by accident: She had gone in for a carpal tunnel evaluation when further testing revealed the life-threatening blockage. She had zero symptoms.

Mulkey encourages others to be proactive when it comes to their health. "Don't wait for a symptom," she told KWTX. "If the best news is you're good to go, then walk out. If the worst news is we got some problems—fix it. You got time. Just take the time to go do it. It could save your life."

Where is Kim Mulkey from?

Believe it or not, Mulkey was actually born in Santa Ana, California. However, she grew up in Tickfaw, Louisiana—a tiny town with a population smaller than two sections of LSU's basketball arena! She played at nearby Hammond High School before heading to Louisiana Tech.

Is Kim Mulkey married? Her family and personal life Kim Mulkey and her children—Makenzie and Kramer—cut down the net right after Baylor won the 2005 Women's NCAA Basketball National Championship.

Kim Mulkey married Randy Robertson in 1987 after meeting at Louisiana Tech, where he was a quarterback on the football team. The couple had two kids together—Kramer and Makenzie—but after nearly 20 years of marriage, they divorced in 2006.

Kramer Robertson became a professional baseball player for both the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets, while Makenzie played basketball and softball at Baylor. In 2012, she even won a national championship with her mom as head coach. Both children are now grown with families of their own, which sees Mulkey in one of her proudest roles yet: grandma!

'90s Rock Band Teams Up With Unexpected Artist in Surprise Collaboration

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:13am

This is one collaboration we didn't see coming, though we're walking away pleasantly surprised.

One of the best surprises for millennial parents these days? Hearing their favorite rock bands behind the theme songs their kids play on repeat, like Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy teaming up with Disney Jr. for the soundtrack to Spidey and His Amazing Friends, or blink-182's Mark Hoppus delivering the theme song for Marvel's Iron Man and His Awesome Friends.

Now, a popular late '90s and early '00s rock band has teamed up with another kids icon for a new song, and the unexpected collaboration is sending shockwaves and garnering plenty of buzz.

Yellowcard, known for hits like "Ocean Avenue," "Empty Apartment" and "Way Away," released a song with children's entertainer Blippi on Friday, March 27, 2026.

"Look who made his way to Ocean Avenue. đŸŽ¶â " a post from Billboard teased, revealing that Blippi "has joined forces with pop-punk band Yellowcard to put out the brand-new song "Go Go Go."

While the song is aimed at children, the outlet points out that it's "perfect for millennial parents who grew up on pop-punk and now listen to Blippi with their children."

As for the reason behind the collaboration? It's simple: "The Yellowcard members themselves are even all dads now with Blippi fans in their families."

“We’ve all seen Blippi exploring trucks and excavators at home with our families, so stepping into that world and creating ‘Go Go Go’ together was incredibly fun,” the band said in a press release.

View this post on Instagram

"Go go go, can't wait to go go go, oh, can you see, if you just believe," the uplifting and extremely catchy lyrics sing.

Early reactions indicate that Yellowcard and Blippi have quite a hit on their hands, with comments stating, "Love this so much!" "Amazing" and "My millennial parent mind can't process this."

"This beyond made my day!!" someone else mused, while another echoed, "The crossover I never expected but am super excited for! 🙌 Blippi is really tugging at our millennial mom heart strings lately 😂."

A longtime Yellowcard fan even scream wrote, "THIS IS THE COLLAB OF A LIFETIME OMG."

Fans Want to Know — Who Is the New Blippi?

However, some took issue with the Blippi in the video, as it's not Clayton Grimm, who has become synonymous with the character after stepping into Blippi creator Stevin John's orange and blue shoes. John sold the franchise to Moonbug and stepped away entirely after welcoming a baby boy in 2022.

"Did they switch out blippi again?" one asked, as others weighed in, "THERE'S A 3RD BLIPPI?! I just got used to Clayton" and "Who is this Blippi imposter anyways?"

The good news is that Clayton isn't going anywhere, as his high-energy Blippi has won over parents everywhere, but as the franchise expands, there's seemingly been a need for another actor to fill the role.

In 2024, Ben Mayer joined the Blippi-verse to spearhead a new show, Blippi's Vroom Vroom Vehicle Show.

The General Manager of Blippi, Mike Katzman, addressed the news series with Parents, stating, “We decided to introduce a new Blippi actor because the demand for Blippi content has grown so much that it's simply too much for one person to cover."

“With more exciting themes and adventures to explore, having another actor allows us to continue delivering high-quality, engaging content at the pace our fans love," allowing the franchise to "dive deeper into the Blippi-verse, creating fresh experiences that embody the fun and curiosity our audience expects. We’re thrilled to have an incredible performer join the team, and fans can look forward to seeing Clayton Grimm continue to bring Blippi to life in many more adventures as well."

Yellowcard's Got New Music With Another Beloved Rock Band

Yellowcard and Good Charlotte announced the release of a collaborative version of Yellowcard’s song “Bedroom Posters,” which dropped earlier this year on Jan. 16.

The updated release arrived a month before the bands headed out on their joint tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Kimberly Van Der Beek Shares Heartbreaking Photo of James and Daughter: ‘Just a Few Heavenly Months Ago'

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:11am

Kimberly Van Der Beek, the wife of the late actor James Van Der Beek, shared a touching photo of James and their daughter, Emilia, in honor of Emilia's 10th birthday.

James, who rose to fame as film-loving teen Dawson Leery on the beloved WB series Dawson’s Creek, went on to a diverse career with roles in series like CSI: Cyber, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, and Pose. In film, he became a teen idol in Varsity Blues and possessed a terrifying side in The Rules of Attraction. He showed a natural ability to flow between comedy and drama. However, it was his deep bond with his children that touched the hearts of many, and that was in full force in the sweet photo shared by Kimberly.

Pictured leaning on her father as they sat outside by the glow of a campfire, Emilia can be seen smiling as she hugged her dad.

"Just a few heavenly months ago. Missing you my love," Kimberly wrote over the photo.

What Did James Van Der Beek Say About Explaining His Health to His Children?

Van Der Beek, who died after a long battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer, had spoken candidly about keeping an honest dialogue with his six children about his health.

“I’m far from an expert, but our approach was just be as honest as possible, as honest to the degree of their understanding, right?” Van Der Beek explained on the July 30 episode of TODAY.

That method of being open and honest also went for when Van Der Beek was having a tough day in his treatment regimen.

“Because they know. They can sense that Dad’s having a tough day. They know if Dad’s in pain. They know, and so by not telling them I think you’re confusing them even more,” Van Der Beek continued. “And just allow yourself to be surprised by their resiliency. When you tell them what you’re doing, and you tell them the approach, they can see it and they can feel it, and I think it’s also your journey is their journey.”

The kids also did their best to show up for their dad emotionally, making him tea and asking what he needed to feel his best. Van Der Beek said there’s a lot of beauty that has come out of the difficult experience.

The bottoms tied at her hips and plunged dangerously low as she struck a sultry pose for the photoshoot in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Her followers flooded her with compliments in the comments, with one Instagram user writing, "Phone just over heated."

Another shared, "Go, Brooksie, go!!!!"

The news of Nader's casting in Baywatch came on March 9. As Varietyreported, she will play a series regular character, Selene, described as the "sharp-tongued captain of the Zuma beach lifeguards."

On March 10, Nader wrote via Instagram, of her Baywatch reboot casting, "I believed in this long before it made sense đŸ’« . Never give up, chase your dreams no matter how wild they are!!!!! @baywatchtv@foxtv LETS GO! ❀."

In response to backlash over several influencers joining the cast, Nader told the Daily Mail in a March 24 interview, "I think that the times are different and everyone is so multi-hyphenate now, and you can be both an actor and an influencer and have influence. And that's the beauty of the culture that social media has created."

She continued, "We now have platforms. I think, during the 90s, you didn't have social media, you didn't have Instagram or TikTok, and so people could use their voice now, and I think as long as they're using it for good... I think that it'll bring a vibe to the show."

'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Jessi Draper Apologizes to Miranda Hope After Kissing Ex-Husband Chase McWhorter

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 10:04am

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Jessi Draper has apologized to Miranda Hope after allegedly kissing Miranda's ex-husband Chase McWhorter.

Miranda, 27, shocked fans on Thursday, Mar. 26 when she posted a photo of flowers from Jessi, 33, alongside an apology note to her Instagram Story.

"I completely understand you being upset with me but wanted to send you a little something to let you know I'm thinking about you and I am so, so sorry. Jessi," the note read.

The post came amid a report from gossip site DeuxMoi that Jessi and Chase, 31, were spotted kissing at a recent event. This is the fourth "MomTok" member Chase has been linked to, following Miranda, Taylor Frankie Paul, and Layla Taylor.

Later on Mar. 26, Miranda posted an Instagram Reel that read, "GRWM while I process my friend group being a waiting room for my ex-husband."

In the caption, she wrote, "it’s not even a betrayal at this point, it’s a tradition đŸ„°đŸ„°."

Following the buzzy social media posts, Miranda then released a statement to Entertainment Tonight confirming the kiss, saying, “Unfortunately I am familiar with this territory. I knew there had been communication between Chase and Jessi but not to what extent. Then Chase was upfront and told me that they were talking and they kissed. Jessi reached out only after she knew Chase had told me something was going on with them. And today, at the same time a rumor started spreading online that something was going on with Chase and Jessi, I received apology flowers from Jessi.”

“What I never want to get misconstrued is that there is not any emotional attachment to Chase. He is my co-parent," she continued. "Although I do feel disrespected by Chase, I feel slighted by my friend. Chase and I are no longer partners, and while I have high expectations of him as a co-parent, I also hold my friends to a high standard and believe in girl code.”

She concluded, “With everything going on and all the chaos, I am just focusing on my kids. As unfortunate as the film break is and then this betrayal I’m going to try and focus on my kids and reground myself. I am processing it and moving forward.”

Miranda and Chase announced their divorce in August 2024, but have not finalized it yet. The pair share two children, son Brooks, 6, and daughter Cohen, 4.

Jessi, for her part, is currently going through a contentious divorce from Jordan Ngatikaura, with the latter officially filing on Thursday, Mar. 19. The couple share two children, son Jagger, 6, and daughter Jovi, 3.

A Buried Government Report Suggests Your TSA Pre-Check ‘Perk’ Could Be a Major Security Risk

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 9:38am

For over two decades, the ritual has been the same: Belt off, laptop out, and most famously shoes in the bin. We’ve done it so often that "shoes off" has become synonymous with airport security. But a recently unearthed internal watchdog report suggests that a shift in this policy may have created a dangerous gap in our national defense, proving that TSA screeners might not be as security saavy as travelers are led to believe.

Related: Are ICE Agents Replacing the TSA? Here's What We Know

The Origin of the "Shoes Off" Mandate

The policy wasn’t born out of bureaucracy, but out of a near-catastrophe. In December 2001, just months after the 9/11 attacks, Richard Reid, the infamous "shoe bomber," attempted to detonate explosives hidden in his sneakers while on a flight from Paris to Miami. While his attempt failed, it fundamentally changed aviation security. By 2006, the TSA implemented a mandatory "shoes off" policy for most travelers to ensure that footwear wasn't being used as a vessel for liquid or plastic explosives.

For years, this remained the gold standard. While it added time to security lines, it offered a layer of tangible protection against a proven threat vector.

♬ original sound - Sisterhood Travels - Sisterhood Travels Efficiency Over Security?

The landscape changed during the Trump Administration, which pushed for a "shoes on" policy to streamline the checkpoint process. The logic was simple: reducing the friction of travel would improve the passenger experience and move crowds faster.

A classified inspector general audit recently utilized "red team" testing (undercover investigators who attempt to smuggle simulated weapons and explosives past security) to see if the new "shoes on" protocol held up. The results were alarming. As per Travel Pulse, the audit found "serious vulnerabilities" in TSA screening procedures, suggesting that the technology currently deployed at many U.S. airports is not yet capable of consistently detecting threats concealed in footwear while passengers are wearing them.

Related: What Is the Fastest Way to Get Through the TSA Today?

A Buried Warning

Perhaps more concerning than the findings themselves is how they were handled. The report, which identified these critical security risks, was reportedly provided to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) five months ago. According to internal communications reviewed by CBS News, the report was largely "buried."

Despite claims from leadership that these concerns were addressed, Inspector General Joseph Cuffari noted that his office has received no evidence of corrective action.

@fox13utah

NEW POLICY-For the first time in nearly 20 years, travelers will no longer be required to remove their shoes at airport security checkpoints.   TSA just announced it’s ending the post-9/11 policy, originally put in place after a failed shoe bombing attempt in 2001. Upgraded screening technology now allows agents to detect threats without passengers having to take off their shoes.   Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says the change will help speed up the screening process without compromising safety.

♬ original sound - Fox13Utah Should the Policy Change?

The debate now centers on a difficult trade-off: convenience versus absolute security. Proponents of the "shoes on" policy argue that modern intelligence and PreCheck programs mitigate the risk. However, the "red team" results tell a different story. If undercover auditors can successfully slip simulated explosives past screeners because of a policy change, then the vulnerability is real and exploitable.

The TSA is currently under immense strain, facing staffing shortages and high traveler volume. In this high-pressure environment, relying on a policy that intentionally bypasses a known threat vector seems like a gamble the flying public didn't sign up for.

If we are to keep our shoes on, the technology at the checkpoint must be advanced enough to "see" through them with the same precision as an X-ray bin. Until that technology is universally deployed and proven effective, returning to the "shoes off" mandate may be a necessary inconvenience to ensure that the "security" in TSA isn't just an illusion.

‘70s Teen Idol's Comeback Classic TV Role Was Short-Lived 48 Years Ago

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 9:29am

David Cassidy became a household name in the early 1970s thanks to fame from the Partridge Family TV show and its accompanying hit music.

The actor played Keith Partridge on the ABCsitcom from 1970 to 1974 before launching a solo recording and touring career. Cassidy then took some time to decompress from the mass superstardom he achieved as a teen idol. His return to TV—four years after The Partridge Family—was a total turnaround.

In May 1978, Cassidy guest-starred in an episode of Police Story, titled “A Chance to Live.” The actor and singer played Dan Shay, an undercover police officer who pretended to be a teenager in order to bust a high school drug ring.

The episode was so popular that Cassidy was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Comedy or Drama Series.

The “I Think I Love You” singer was also offered his own spinoff show, David Cassidy—Man Undercover.  The NBC drama series premiered on November 2, 1978. It aired just 10 episodes, ending for good in July 1979, nearly a decade before 21 Jump Street would successfully pull off the youthful undercover cop theme.

David Cassidy had high hopes for the series

When Man Undercover first came out in 1978, Cassidy told The Asbury Park Press that his new series wasn’t looking for a young audience like The Partridge Family had. While he admitted that it would be nice if his old fans tuned in to the drama series, he clarified that he didn’t want to become “the hottest T-shirt item” again.

“I've gone through it,” Cassidy said at the time. “You really get sucked into that audience. This new series is not designed, sketched, directed, or fixed for kids.”

Cassidy also noted that he had never set out to become a singing sensation.

“I was an actor, that's all I ever wanted to be,” he said. “It was never presented to me that I would be a teeny bopper star. It just took that bizarre turn. I had to get out. It wasn't calculated, I just walked away.”

RELATED: 1970 No. 1 Hit Ranked One of  the ‘Top Love Songs of All Time’ Was by a Made-for-TV Band

David Cassidy admitted the series was a disaster

Cassidy had worked hard to break out of his Partridge Family image. In a 1998 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, he revealed that after closing “the cover” on his bubblegum past, he took three years off and “came back as an actor.”

"I got nominated for an Emmy for a two-hour movie that was a dramatic role, and subsequently did a series [David Cassidy—Man Undercover],” he shared. “They used the movie as a spinoff for that series, which it wasn’t intended to be, and the series was pretty disastrous.”

“It was night shooting, most of it, in downtown L.A. in the wintertime. It was just so unpleasant,” Cassidy added. “I was going through so much personally; I’d lost my father the year before, and I’d lost my manager. I was in really bad shape. The show wasn’t successful, and it shouldn’t have been. But I got wooed into doing it.”

Man Undercover producer David Gerber told the Television Academy Foundation that the series broke a barrier with the high school drug theme. He also described Cassidy as “very good” in the role.

As for why the show was titled David Cassidy—Man Undercover when the character’s name was Dan Shay, Gerber admitted producers wanted to capitalize on Cassidy’s famous name.

“I mean, because we were trying to get it on and he was hot as a pistol at the time,” he said of Cassidy. “And he created, helped write the theme, and all that you know, and it was very good.”

8-Foot Great White Shark Caught Circling Surfer at Popular California Beach

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 9:25am

Sharks have always been my favorite animal, and I’ve been fascinated by them for as long as I can remember. Their sleek movements, power, and the mystery surrounding them have always drawn me in. However, my admiration turned into a rush of nerves one morning while surfing with a friend at Doheny Beach. We had just paddled out of the water when we got a call that a 16‑foot great white had been spotted right where we were. That certainly sent a shiver down my spine.

On a warm afternoon near Newport Beach, California, an 8‑foot great white shark made headlines by circling a surfer before lifeguards cleared a mile of ocean and temporarily closed the beach. Nobody was hurt, but the dramatic moment reminded locals and visitors alike that we share the Pacific with remarkable wildlife.

It wasn’t a horror story, just nature cruising through. Lifeguards monitored the waters from towers, patrol boats, and even a helicopter, then reopened the beach by evening. What feels unusual to many is actually part of the ecological rhythm of these coastal waters.

As travelers, we often imagine California beaches as sunbathing, surfing, and sea lions soaking up rays. But the ocean is also a dynamic ecosystem teeming with life, and that includes apex predators like great whites. Witnessing that balance firsthand can be one of the most unforgettable aspects of visiting the Golden State.

Fuel your wanderlust with our top travel stories—join our newsletter today.

Is There Really “Shark Season” Along the California Coast?

Short answer? There isn’t a strict season when sharks suddenly show up, but there are predictable patterns to their presence. Sharks occur year‑round off the California coast, but white shark activity tends to rise during warmer months as water temperatures climb.

Typically, late summer through early fall attracts the highest concentrations of juvenile white sharks in Southern California because warmer waters and abundant prey make these coastal zones ideal nursery grounds. Meanwhile, larger adults migrate along the coast to central and northern feeding hotspots around seal and sea lion rookeries.

So while the Newport Beach sighting happened unusually early in the year, scientists have pointed to warm ocean temperatures and an oncoming El Niño pattern as factors that could make 2026 a “very sharky summer.” From a traveler’s perspective, this means more wildlife encounters in the waters you surf.

A Traveler’s Guide to Sharks and Safety

If you’re planning a beach trip to California, especially Southern California hotspots like Huntington Beach, Laguna, or Newport, here’s what you should know:

1. Sharks are part of the ocean, but attacks are rare: Great whites are the only species in California considered dangerous to humans, but unprovoked encounters remain infrequent relative to the number of people who swim or surf here. Trails of data show that while the number of “shark incidents” recently hit record highs compared to past years, most are minor and happen without fatalities.

2. Early morning and dusk are peak times for many ocean predators: These periods often coincide with lower water visibility and higher animal activity, not just for sharks but for fish, rays, and other marine creatures. As a traveler, choosing midday swims with calmer conditions and clearer water can reduce surprise sightings.

3. Know the local conditions and watch for wildlife signs: If seals, sea lions, or fish are schooling near shore, you’re in an active marine environment. These are normal and wonderful parts of Pacific life, but they also attract sharks who follow their food sources.

Where Sharks Really Hang Out — and Where You Can Watch Them

For travelers fascinated rather than freaked out, there are places where you can observe these animals safely:

  • Shark spotting tours: Around places like Dana Point or Guadalupe Island off Baja, organized boat tours let you watch sharks from a secure distance. These trips mix science and spectacle in a way that feels like getting a backstage pass to the ocean’s food web.
  • Drone and viewing spots near Santa Cruz: Locals affectionately call one area “shark park” because juvenile great whites often cruise just beyond the surf break in summer and fall, making them visible from cliffs and aerial footage.
  • Seal colonies and protected areas: Watching seals and sea lions along the central California coast can sometimes mean spotting sharks offshore. These marine mammals draw predators in predictable, seasonal patterns.

In all these places, binoculars, patience, and a respect for nature beat fear every time.

That Newport Beach moment, a sleek 8‑footer shadowing a surfer, wasn’t a horror flick clip. It was nature doing what it’s done for millennia: apex predators following their instincts in ancient waters. For travelers, these are the stories that make a trip memorable. They’re reminders that the Pacific coast is not a zoo but a living, breathing ecosystem.

So, yes: some call it “shark season.” Others say it’s just shark life happening right where humans want to play in the surf. Either way, treat the ocean with curiosity and respect, and let stories like this shape your journey, not scare it.

5 TV Shows Based on Books Coming in 2026 You Need To Read First

Fri, 03/27/2026 - 9:21am

Like with movies, there are many TV shows coming in 2026 that are based on books. There are some shows that will work by watching first and then reading afterwards, especially when it comes to the longer seasons and book series. However, there are newer shows based on books that you’ll want to read first.

Reading allows for more time with characters and stories. It creates a deeper understanding of the world, and it helps to form attachments that you may not get with a TV show. It’s also fun — and sometimes infuriating — to see how the show adapts the story to suit that medium. Here are five shows based on books coming in 2026 that you really should read first.

‘The Testaments’

Hulu will bring the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale in April 2026. The Testaments is set years after the events of June’s story, telling the tale of Aunt Lydia, Agnes, and Daisy. The three characters end up within the same part of the world, and all three end up on a mission to take down the state.

The novel by Margaret Atwood was released in 2019, much to the surprise of The Handmaid’s Tale fans, who had waited since 1985 for more to this story. It helped to add more depth to Aunt Lydia, while also giving us a look at what happened to Baby Nichole and Hannah. On top of that, there was a look at indoctrination and how it affects those growing up in a state who can’t remember what came before.

‘Imperfect Women’

While the series has already premiered on Apple TV, if you haven’t started watching it yet, try to get to the book first. Imperfect Women by Araminta Hall helps to delve into the women, including their guilt and their motivations.

It can be hard for a TV show to show the full nuances of a character. At the same time, it’s hard to add in the small teases of details, as books make it possible to add small lines in that you either need to read between or that you need to pay attention to without realizing. Books allow for more of the “ah ha!” moments that TV shows can end up spoiling as it all plays out on screen.

‘Every Year After’

Prime Video is leaning more and more into book adaptations, and the summer will bring Every Year After, based on the book Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. All eight episodes will drop in June, but the good news is that you have plenty of time to read the book first. And you need to!

The novel is more than just a sweet romance. There’s a tale of grief and loss, while also a story of dealing with past mistakes and finding a way to live with them. One thing with this novel is how it’s told over the course of six years and a weekend, which is easy to break down in a novel, jumping from chapter to chapter. There’s also the time to fill in the important gaps, which you may need before jumping into the TV series.

‘The Five-Star Weekend’

You may be looking forward to seeing Jennifer Garner in another book adaptation, as she will star in The Five-Star Weekend on Peacock. This July release is based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand, and you’ve got time to read first. It is the first in her “Nantucket” series, but don’t worry too much about reading the others, as they follow other characters.

The novel delves deep into what it takes to make a life look perfect. That’s the world that Hollis Shaw has always wanted to appear as having, but things start to crack after the unexpected death of her husband. Rather than deal with the fallout, she decides to try to patch it up by inviting her friends for a “five-star weekend,” and this is where the drama really starts. Hilderbrand has a way of crafted deeply flawed characters that you can still root for, and you’ll want to read first.

‘Lucky’

If you’re more in the mood for a thriller, Lucky will arrive on Apple TV in July, and it’s based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. There’s no doubt that Anna Taylor-Joy is a selling point for the TV series, but this is one that you need to read first to understand the ins and outs of the lead character’s life.

Lucky is running out of luck. After successfully crafting a life as a con artist, it’s all threated to be turned upside down all thanks to a lottery ticket taht she purchased on a whim. Throughout the novel, we get to see all sides of Lucky pulling at her, as she needs to reconcile with family members past, finding out who her mother is, and simply figuring out what she needs to do to feel like she really is as her name suggests.
