The Beach Boys Most Romantic Song Was Written in Less Than 1 Hour
It’s hard to imagine that one of The Beach Boys’ most swoon-worthy love songs came together in less time than it takes to watch a sitcom episode.
In an interview with The Guardian, Brian Wilson revealed, "I wrote 'God Only Knows' in 45 minutes. Me and Tony Asher."
He added, "It’s my favorite song. Of mine."
In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, Wilson elaborated on the song further. He reflected on the inspiration behind the track and explained how the melody and lyrics came together so quickly.

"God Only Knows is a very spiritual, religious song, with the word God in it," Wilson explained.
"Tony Asher and I came up with a very clever love song," he added.
In an interview with The Beatles producer George Martin, Wilson discussed the song, its recording, and his feelings about this enduring piece of music.

Martin said that "God Only Knows" was always one of his favorite Beach Boys songs. In the video clip, the producer stripped down the song to take a better look at its components via the song's original master tapes.
Wilson admitted that he had a blueprint in his head "arrangement-wise, but not sound-wise." After watching Martin tinker with the song in the studio, Wilson joked, "You're making a better mix of this than I did on the master!"
Parade previously reported that the beloved song has a surprising twist. Only three Beach Boys members, Carl Wilson, Brian Wilson, and Bruce Johnston, contributed their voices to the track, producing an unforgettable sound that has resonated with fans since the tune's 1966 release.
"God Only Knows" remains one of the Beach Boys' most beloved pieces of music. Ironically, it only hit a chart peak of No. 39 on the Billboard charts in 1966.
The song remains widely regarded as one of the most influential love songs in pop history, praised for its emotional vulnerability and sophisticated harmonies. "God Only Knows" helped redefine what a pop ballad could be, raising the bar for songwriting and studio artistry in the decades that followed.
How Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Iconic Style Helped Shape Sarah Pidgeon’s 'Love Story' Role
FX's Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette has taken the streaming world by storm with lead actress Sarah Pidgeon, who plays Bessette, at the helm.
Speaking to People in an interview published on Saturday, February 21, Pidgeon, 29, opens up about how Bessette’s fashion influenced her portrayal of the late fashion icon.
"She was a private citizen until she got into this relationship with John [and was thrust into] the center of the public eye. So I think her clothing, it really helped inform the character,” Pidgeon explains, referring to Bessette’s whirlwind romance with John F. Kennedy Jr.
"My favorite pieces were the [Yohji] Yamamoto pieces she wore. And I'm not sure if she was aware of this, but Yamamoto describes designing clothing as armor for women,” the Wilds actress continued.

(Photo by Donato Sardella/Penske Media via Getty Images)"I think understanding — or at least my interpretation of her relation to the press — she was fiercely private, so I think it made so much sense, and you could feel it when you put the clothes on. It makes you stand in a different way, and it sort of holds you in and protects you,” Pidgeon added.
While Pidgeon and Bessette no doubt look alike due to hair and makeup choices, the former said that ultimately, it was the wardrobe that "felt very transformative.”
Kennedy and Bessette famously began dating in 1994 while the latter was a publicist for Calvin Klein. The pair later got engaged in 1995 and married on September 21, 1996. During their time together, their relationship was heavily scrutinized by the tabloids, as they were constantly being sought after for paparazzi coverage.
Their love story came to a tragic end on July 16, 1999, after Bessette and Kennedy died in a plane crash off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.

'King of Queens' Star Imagines Where His Character Would Be Today
From 1998 to 2007, Patton Oswalt was a regular on The King of Queens. The CBSsitcom starred Kevin Jamesand Leah Remini as working-class New York couple Doug and Carrie Heffernan, with comedy legend Jerry Stiller playing basement-dwelling father-in-law, Arthur Spooner. Oswalt played Spence Olchin, a self-deprecating high school friend of Doug’s who worked in the subway as a token booth operator, where he sold MetroCards after tokens were phased out.
In December 2025, New York City's subway system permanently retired the swipeable cards in favor of OMNY (One Metro New York), a contactless payment system that allows riders to tap their credit card or smart device to pay fares. The Associated Press described the retirement of the yellow MetroCards as “the end of an era.” In The King of Queens era, it would have also marked a major change for Spence—and his job security.
Speaking with Clutchpoints in February 2026, Oswalt, 57, admitted that Spence probably wouldn’t have liked the change if TheKing of Queens was still on the air.
”He would definitely rail against it,” Oswalt told the outlet. “He would think that this is an era that is ending. But also, knowing Spence, he wouldn’t do a whole lot about it. He would just kind of silently gripe, and then that’d be it.”
‘King of Queens’ fans still recognize SpenceOswalt, who stars in the new movie GOAT, became a fan favorite when he first appeared on The King of Queens more than 20 years ago. His beloved character still lives on in heavy syndication.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Oswalt revealed that he began getting noticed in public around "the fifth or sixth season of King of Queens," when the sitcom really hit its stride.
“Whenever I would go in someplace, people were just like, 'Spence!'" he shared, adding that his newfound fame felt "very, very surreal” at the time.
“I don't think that I'm like a Tom Hanks, but I'm one of those faces that's like, ‘Oh, I've seen you in things.’” Oswalt noted. “ And listen, that's the exact kind of career I want – that character-actor career. I want the Paul Giamatti career or the Tracy Walter career of like, ‘Oh, there's that guy!’”
Patton Oswalt would join a ‘King of Queens’ reunionFans have been begging for a King of Queens reboot for years, but James has said that the death of key cast member Stiller makes the idea unlikely.
But before Stiller’s 2020 death, Oswalt told Entertainment Weekly that he would totally be on board for an onscreen reunion with his KOQ co-stars.
“King of Queens, God, I had so much fun on that show,” he said. “I love doing King of Queens. One, because it got me a house, and this show was where I learned how to act. Basically, I didn't really know how to act until I got to do scenes over and over again with Jerry Stiller and Kevin James and Leah Remini and Victor Williams.”
At the time, Oswalt said he’d love to make a cameo on James’ follow-up sitcom Kevin Can Wait, which added Remini to its second and final season. “Look, if they asked me back on to be on that show too, I would totally do that in a second!” the King of Queens alum said.
Gordon Ramsay Shares a Devastating Family Secret He’s Carried for Decades
Gordon Ramsay has built a career on intensity and perfection, but in his new Netflix docuseries, Being Gordon Ramsay, he opens up about a painful family reality that has followed him his entire life.
Known for reducing even the toughest chefs to tears, the fiery restaurateur reveals a deeply vulnerable side in the series, opening up about his younger brother Ronnie's 40-year heroin addiction and how it shaped him. “I have a brother who’s a heroin addict,” he revealed in the second episode of the series. “We shared a bunk bed together. He’s 15 months younger than me, and he’s been an addict for the last four decades. I’ve gone to hell and back with him, and so I have a guilt complex."
Ramsay understood that he could have been the one battling addiction. "That could have been me. It could have been switched ... Born in the same house, grew up in the same bedroom, shared bunk beds, and so similar ... but how can it be so different now?” he wondered.
Addiction seemingly runs in Ramsay's family as he described his father as a "violent alcoholic," and he admitted it made life harder. "It's very hard to relate to that, because you're just nervous," he remarked in the first episode. "You're worried about hitting the end of the bottle and seeing that bottle of Bacardi disappear because you know what happens at the end of that."
Ramsay recalled that his father believed “cooking was for women and it wasn’t a man’s job,” a mindset that fueled their strained relationship. “My father called me a snob once. And I said, ‘No, definitely not a snob. I just wanna get out of the s--- mess I was born in,'” he said.
Despite these early struggles, Ramsay said the challenges only strengthened his resolve. “I’m not embarrassed of my past. I got dealt a dysfunctional card. Big f---ing deal," he said. "So that drives me, that puts fuel in my tank because I was so close to not making it."
Timothy Busfield Pleads Not Guilty to 4 Counts of Child Sex Abuse
Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert's husband, Timothy Busfield, pleaded not guilty to four counts of child sex abuse.
On Saturday, Feb. 21, People reported that Busfield, 68, pleaded not guilty to the charges—all third-degree felonies—against him on Feb. 10.
Additionally, the West Wing actor waived his arraignment and court appearances for pre-trial proceedings on Feb. 11. Judge Joseph Montano granted this on Feb. 18.
The news came after the district attorney for New Mexico’s Bernalillo County, Sam Bregman, announced via Facebook that a grand jury had indicted Busfield on the four charges of criminal sexual contact of a child.
On Jan. 9, the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) issued an arrest warrant for Busfield, alleging that he engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with twin actors, 11, after they met on the set of The Cleaning Lady. One of the victims was 7 when the alleged incidents began.
Busfield turned himself in to the police on Jan. 13. That same day, he denied all allegations against him in a video obtained by TMZ.
“They’re all lies, and I did not do anything to those little boys, and I’m gonna fight it," he declared. "I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
On Jan. 20, Busfield was granted release on his own recognizance as he awaits trial.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN‘s National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.

World's Best-Selling Single of 1998 Went to the Top of the Charts 28 Years Ago Today
Near, far, wherever you are: in 1998, you heard Céline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." As the love theme to James Cameron'sTitanic, Dion's song was everywhere, a truly unsinkable pop music phenomenon that began its historic run nearly thirty years ago today (Feb. 21) when it topped the UK Singles Chart; a week later, it would debut atop the Billboard Hot 100.
It only spent two weeks at No. 1 in the United States, but much like how the bulk of an iceberg is concealed underwater, you can't look at the Hot 100 to gauge "My Heart Will Go On's success. In fact, by the end of the year, it was the best-selling single in the entire world.
The Story Behind 'My Heart Will Go On'Céline Dion actually hated "My Heart Will Go On" at first. "When I recorded it, I didn't think about a movie; I didn't think about radio," she said when Billboardcompiled the song's oral history in 2017. "I thought, 'Sing the song, then get the heck out of there.'"
Director James Cameron also hated the idea of ending his movie with a pop song. But, early buzz for Titanic was not good, with many predicting that the film would sink like its titular ship.
"Cameron was getting pressure from the studio to try and have something that would be an additional powerful marketing tool," said Tommy Mottola, then-head of Sony Music Entertainment. "And because the studio was on the hook for this picture, for what they'd spent, they were looking for every marketing opportunity that they could get."
According to Billboard, composer James Horner originally composed "My Heart Will Go On" as an instrumental motif for the film and adapted it into a vocal with help from lyricist Will Jennings. Horner then met with Céline Dion and her late husband and manager, René Angélil, to perform a rendition in hopes that she would sign on. Angélil heard the song's quality and suggested that his wife record a demo.
"I wanted to choke my husband. Because I didn't want to do it!" said Dion, and that anger carried over to the recording booth. "I was mad! I [didn 't] feel good. I [had] belly pains. My girl days [were] starting to happen." But she recorded the demo in one take, which left everyone with "chills," per Mottola.
Cameron heard the song and knew it was a perfect way to end his movie. Audiences would soon agree.
Chat Performance And Awards."My Heart Will Go On" was first released in November 1997 as part of the Titanic soundtrack. The song was released as a promotional single and slowly began to build on radio airplay.
Motolla explained to Billboard why it took a while for "My Heart Will Go On" to reach No. 1: because the soundtrack was released near Christmas, radio programmers were locked into playing holiday music.
Titanic then hit theaters on December 19, 1997. When January 1998 rolled around, and the movie was a colossal hit, "My Heart Will Go On" exploded in popularity, per Billboard. The song was released as an official single (as opposed to a promotional single) and debuted at No. 1 on both the UK Singles chart and the Hot 100.
From there, it also went No. 1 across the world. Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy—it was a global sensation.
It eventually became the best-selling single of 1998 worldwide and one of the best-selling singles of all time, having sold more than 18 million copies.
"My Heart Will Go On" would also win big at awards shows. It won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and took home the Grammy for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture or Television.
Why The Song Still ResonatesWith the power in Dion's voice, the romance of Horner's music and Jennings' lyrics, "My Heart Will Go On" endures as a dramatic declaration of love.
"You hear it at karaoke, drifting in from neighboring booths in Farsi. And it feels like all is right in the kingdom," said Titanic star Billy Zane."The song is an easy target for postmodern millennial hipster angst. Why? Because it's sincere? It's the rarest of things: It's quality."
Dion reflected on the song's legacy, especially when she performed it during her sold-out Vegas residencies. "Every night when I start to sing that song, I think, 'Gee, what a song. What a moment.' I'm so thankful that they did not listen to me," she said. "I'm so glad that my husband said, 'I really think that you should do that song.'"

Wait, Does Chris Nanos Really Have a Reality Show? What to Know About the Sheriff in the Nancy Guthrie Case
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has been both in the spotlight and under a microscope following the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie'smomNancy Guthrie.
Nanos, 70, currently leads the local investigation into Nancy's suspected abduction and is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to crack the case, get her home and bring her captor(s) to justice ... but it hasn't exactly gone smoothly so far.
From raids that went nowhere to questions about the proper testing of DNA evidence, the case has frustrated both investigators on the scene as well as armchair experts at home with the lack of developments.
One critic argued that Nanos is on an "ego trip" and impeding with the FBI investigation into the case, but it's important to note context: That critic was Sgt. Aaron Cross, a longtime vocal opponent of Nanos, including in the most recent Pima County sheriff's election, and the criticism was published in the right-leaning New York Post, and Nanos is a Democrat.
For his part, Nanos told Parade of the allegations, “Right now, our focus is on this investigation and serving the victims and this community. Internal or political commentary distracts from this active investigation, and it is very unfortunate. My focus remains on justice and transparency.”
All that said, Nanos isn't making headlines just for the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Here's everything to know about Sheriff Chris Nanos, including the drama behind the scenes before Nancy even went missing.
What is Chris Nanos famous for?Sheriff Nanos became a star overnight and pretty much against his will when Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Ariz., which is under his jurisdiction as part of Pima County. Pima County is huge, with a 9,000-square mile area, and also includes about 130 miles of the Mexican border with the United States.
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Nanos has 50 years of law enforcement experience under his belt, beginning his career with the El Paso Police Department in 1976.
In 1984, Nanos became a corrections officer for the Pima County Sheriff's Department and was promoted to a deputy within a year. He rose up the ranks as Chief Deputy and appointed sheriff in 2015, with a special focus on investigations into sex crimes, narcotics and violent crimes.
After being appointed to the sheriff's department in 2015, Nanos ran for election for Pima County Sheriff in 2016 but lost to Mark Napier. Nanos ran against Napier again in 2020 and won. Nanos then won re-election in 2024, but by quite a narrow margin: He got 243,891, while his opponent Heather Lappin had 243,410. The race was close enough to require a recount before declaring Nanos the winner.
The election itself wasn't without controversy, either. According to Arizona Luminaria, Nanos put Lappin, as well as union leader and vocal opponent Sgt. Aaron Cross, on administrative leave during the last weeks of the election cycle after early voting already started. Lappin argued hurt her reputation and chances at a fair shot at winning the election.
Arizona Luminaria reported that the Pima County Board of Supervisors requested that the Arizona and U.S. Attorneys General perform an outside investigation into Nanos' conduct leading up to the 2024 election.
In September 2024, the Board reportedly also requested to meet with Nanos regarding his handling of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a female Pima County Sheriff's Office employee by her supervisor.

Did they ever find the Guthrie family?Nancy Guthrie hasn't yet been found as of this writing on Feb. 20, 2026. The investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.

Is Sheriff Nanos Republican or Democrat?Sheriff Nanos is a Democrat. In 2020, he won against Republican incumbent Napier. In 2024, he ran against fellow Democrat Lappin.
Is there a Chris Nanos' reality show?Yes and no.
There is a show on A&E called Desert Law that follows the Pima County Sheriff's Department, but Nanos doesn't appear on it.
A logline for Desert Law reads, "When the blistering Arizona sun finally sets over Tucson’s Sonoran Desert, the temperature drops—and the crime rises. With elite access to one of the largest sheriff’s departments in America, Desert Law follows the high-intensity work of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department—its patrol deputies, DUI unit, and night detectives—as they cover more than 9,000 square miles of rugged terrain, taking on the trouble that thrives after dark. Immersed in the pressure and danger of policing the desert night, the series captures a world where the spirit of the Old West still lingers and the fight for order never ends."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nanos coordinates with the show's producers, but has never been featured on the reality series himself. A source said that it was Nanos' own call not to be in front of the camera.
Desert Law airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. local time. The first two seasons of Desert Law were filmed in 2025, so don't expect to see any episodes about the Nancy Guthrie case anytime soon.

What happened to Chris Nanos' brother?Sheriff Nanos didn't go into detail, but revealed to the Daily Mail that his own brother died in hospice the day after Nancy Guthrie was abducted.
“People out there can get pretty ugly and mean and nasty and not have the facts,” he said, explaining that his personal grief made him more sensitive to the Guthrie family's plight. “I tell my journalists, you guys need to be a little more responsible … because that’s just really nasty stuff.”
13 Best Hair Gloss Treatments for 2026, Tested by Stylists
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
If your hair color looks dull, flat or like it's lost its vibrancy between salon visits, a gloss treatment can bring it back to life without the commitment or damage of a full color service. Think of it this way: hair gloss is essentially the topcoat of hair color—it enhances shine, refines tone, softens harsh demarcation lines and makes your color look exponentially more expensive. Ooh la la!
Whether you're blonde dealing with brassiness, brunette wanting richer depth or simply someone whose hair has lost its luster, the right gloss treatment can transform lackluster strands into glossy, reflective locks.
Understanding what gloss actually does helps explain why it's become a non-negotiable step in professional color services. Unlike permanent color that opens the cuticle and deposits pigment deep in the hair shaft, gloss works primarily on the surface level. It smooths down the cuticle so it lies flat and reflects light better, deposits subtle tonal adjustments to enhance or correct your existing color and creates a protective barrier that reduces frizz and boosts shine. The result? Hair that looks healthier, feels smoother and catches light like you just walked out of the salon.
The gloss market has evolved significantly, with both professional and at-home options delivering impressive results when chosen correctly. Professional glosses offer custom color correction and longer-lasting results, while at-home treatments provide maintenance between salon visits. The key is understanding your hair goals—whether you need toning to neutralize unwanted warmth, deep conditioning to repair damage or simply shine enhancement to refresh your color. The wrong gloss can leave hair looking muddy or overly toned, while the right one creates that expensive, just-colored gleam.
We consulted hair stylists and celebrity colorists who work with A-list clients to find out which gloss treatments actually deliver salon-quality shine, whether you're maintaining blonde brilliance, enriching brunette depth or keeping red tones vibrant. Here are their top picks for the best hair gloss treatments of 2026—and the products to use at home to make it last.

Hair gloss delivers multiple benefits that go beyond just adding shine.
Jeremy Cohen, colorist at IGK Salon, explains it perfectly. "A gloss is the topcoat of hair color," he says. "It enhances shine, refines tone, softens harsh lines and makes color look more expensive without a full color service.” Essentially, when your hair feels dull or flat, a gloss brings it back to life.
If you want to get more technical, Stanley Nolan, stylist, Ogle School Stafford cosmetologist and beauty education specialist, gets a little more specific, telling us that a hair gloss treatment enhances shine and boosts vibrancy by smoothing the hair cuticle, which helps reflect light and refresh the overall look of the hair.
"Hair glosses add a silky barrier on the outside of your hair,” says Chaz Dean, founder of WEN, hairstylist and colorist. This helps reduce frizz and give an overall high, reflective shine.
The bottom line? Gloss smooths the cuticle for shine, adjusts tone for better color and creates a protective layer that makes hair look healthier and more vibrant.
The terminology can be confusing, but the experts offer clarity on whether there's actually a difference.
"Hair glosses and glazes are very similar and share many of the same benefits," Nolan explains. The main difference is that a glaze slightly penetrates the first layer of the cuticle, which helps the results last a bit longer compared to a traditional gloss.
Dean offers a different take on the distinction, sharing, "Glosses are generally colorless and glazes can help boost a color close to your natural tint."
The consensus? The terms are often used interchangeably, with only minor technical differences that most consumers won't notice. Focus on the formula and results rather than getting hung up on terminology.
The stylists are honest about the limitations and risks of DIY glossing.
Cohen warns about the most common mistake. "The biggest mistake is over-toning," he says. If the shade is too ashy or left on too long, hair can go flat or muddy.
If you want to do this at home, he advises that you stick close to your current tone and follow the timing on the box exactly.
The takeaway? At-home glosses can work for simple shine maintenance but professional glossing delivers superior, customized results.

How Long Does a Gloss Last on Hair? The longevity varies based on hair type, washing frequency and the specific formula used.
Depending on how often you wash your hair, it can last up to six to eight weeks, shares Cassie Cohen, colorist at Chris McMillan Salon. However, it must be said that some of the stylists we talk to said that eight weeks is very much the upper range.
For example, Jeremy Cohen had more conservative estimates with important context. "About three to five weeks depending on how often you shampoo and the condition of the hair," he says. "Blondes fade faster, brunettes usually hold tone a bit longer."
So, expect three to six weeks of results depending on your hair color, washing frequency and the products you use. Less frequent washing and sulfate-free shampoos extend gloss longevity significantly.
The stylists agree that when done properly, glossing is beneficial for hair health.
"Yes. Most glosses are acidic, which helps close the cuticle, boost shine and improve the overall feel of the hair," Jeremy Cohen says. "Done properly, they actually make the hair feel healthier."
Dean offers the most measured perspective. "Typical Shine Glossings don't harm the hair, but don't necessarily heal it in any way," he notes. "They improve their appearance for a short amount of time."
The verdict? Gloss treatments seal the cuticle and improve hair's appearance and feel, though they're cosmetic enhancement rather than deep repair. They won't fix damaged hair but they absolutely improve how healthy hair looks and behaves.

The 13 Best Hair Gloss Treatments for 2026, Tested by StylistsBest Overall: Redken Shades EQ, $25Redken Shades EQ
Jeremy Cohen calls this his best overall and best luxury pick. "Redken Shades EQ keeps blondes bright and clean without looking over-toned or dull," he explains. The acidic demi-permanent formula is beloved by colorists because it deposits tone while simultaneously lowering the hair's pH to seal the cuticle and enhance shine.
It's versatile enough to work on any hair color and offers precise tonal control that's nearly impossible to achieve with at-home glosses. The conditioning base leaves hair feeling noticeably softer and more manageable. This is the professional standard for good reason; it delivers consistent, beautiful results every time.
Jeremy Cohen specifically chose this as "one of the few at-home options that enhances tone and shine without grabbing unevenly." For a drugstore option, it delivers impressively salon-like results. The ammonia-free formula is gentle enough for frequent use and comes in multiple shades to enhance your existing color without dramatically changing it.
The conditioning treatment works in just 20 minutes and rinses out easily without staining. While it won't offer the customization of professional glossing, it's perfect for maintaining shine and tone between salon visits.
Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic Strengthening Gloss
Cassie Cohen loves this high-end option for its dual benefits. The Japanese rice water-infused formula not only adds incredible shine but also strengthens hair from within. The lightweight treatment doesn't weigh hair down but creates that coveted glass-hair finish that looks reflective.
It's particularly effective on damaged or chemically treated hair that needs both strengthening and shine. While it's definitely a splurge, the results are visible and long-lasting. Apply it as a final rinse after conditioning for maximum glossiness.

Best for Blondes: Milbon Illuminating Glow Treatment, $45ecosmetics
Cassie Cohen specifically chose this for blonde hair. The formula is designed to enhance light-reflecting properties in blonde shades while neutralizing unwanted yellow or brassy tones. The treatment creates a luminous, multi-dimensional finish that makes blonde hair look expensive and freshly highlighted.
It's particularly effective on platinum and ash blonde shades that need brightness without warmth. The conditioning base prevents the dryness that often comes with toning treatments. Use weekly to maintain that salon-fresh blonde brilliance.
Jeremy Cohen loves this specifically for brunettes. "[It] makes brunette shades look richer, deeper and incredibly reflective," he explains.
The demi-permanent formula enhances natural and colored brunette tones without making them look flat or one-dimensional. It adds depth to darker shades while creating that glossy, light-catching finish that makes brunette hair look incredibly healthy and vibrant.
The formula is gentle enough for regular use and fades gracefully without leaving harsh lines. It's perfect for maintaining rich chocolate, chestnut or espresso tones between full color services.
CosmoProf
Nolan specifically recommends this for exceptional longevity. The demi-permanent gel formula deposits vibrant long-lasting color while refreshing and glossing, leaving hair looking healthy and hydrated with up to 2x the shine compared to untreated hair.
The impressive longevity sets it apart—it lasts through 30 shampoos or up to 10 weeks, which is significantly longer than most glosses. The 31-shade collection offers extensive color options for precise tonal customization, making it versatile enough for any hair color. The gel consistency applies smoothly and evenly for professional-quality results that truly last.
Sephora
Cassie Cohen chose this intensive treatment for hair that needs serious repair along with gloss. The mask deeply conditions while adding shine, making it ideal for damaged, over-processed or very dry hair.
The Japanese technology penetrates deep into the hair shaft to repair from within while creating a glossy surface finish. It's particularly effective on bleached or heat-damaged hair that's lost its luster. Use it as a weekly treatment to rebuild strength and shine simultaneously.
Jeremy Cohen specifically loves this for texture improvement. "Ideal for porous or rough hair that needs shine and polish," he explains. The formula is designed to seal raised cuticles and create a smooth surface. It's particularly effective on frizz-prone, coarse or chemically treated hair that feels rough to the touch.
The smoothing effect is immediate and visible—hair feels silkier and looks noticeably sleeker. Combined with the gloss benefits, it transforms textured hair into smooth, reflective strands.
Amazon
Jeremy Cohen recommends this when hair needs both repair and gloss. The protein-rich formula rebuilds damaged hair structure while adding shine and smoothness. It's particularly effective on bleached, colored or heat-styled hair that's become weakened and dull.
The mask works in just five minutes but delivers salon-level conditioning and gloss. Use it weekly to maintain both strength and shine, especially if you color or style your hair frequently.
Milbon Copper Shampoo
Jeremy Cohen loves this specifically for maintaining red tones. "[It] keeps copper and red tones vibrant and glossy without dulling the color," he says.
Red hair color notoriously fades faster than any other shade, and this formula deposits subtle copper pigments while cleansing to maintain vibrancy. The glossing effect adds shine while the color-depositing properties refresh fading reds. It's perfect for natural redheads wanting to enhance their color or dyed redheads maintaining between salon visits.
Use two to three times per week for best results.
Wella
Jeremy Cohen calls this "perfect for rebalancing warmth or cooling down tones while keeping shine." Wella's professional gloss formulas offer precise tonal control, making them ideal when you need to neutralize brassiness in blonde hair or cool down unwanted red tones in brunette shades.
The acidic formula seals the cuticle while depositing toner, so you get both corrective color and shine enhancement. It's particularly effective for blonde highlights that have turned yellow or brunette color that's pulled warm. Professional application is recommended for best toning results.
Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment
Cassie Cohen chose this luxury treatment for its exceptional gloss delivery. The name says it all—this creates that coveted glass-hair effect with mirror-like shine. The treatment smooths the cuticle to an almost imperceptible level, creating maximum light reflection.
It's formulated with Oribe's signature fragrance and conditioning agents that leave hair feeling silky. While it's definitely an investment, the results are dramatic and immediate. It's perfect for special occasions or when you want your hair to look its absolute best.
Chris McMillan
Cassie Cohen loves this innovative prep spray for achieving glossy finishes while styling. The lightweight, heat-activated mist provides heat protection up to 450°F while delivering super-powered frizz control and that coveted glassy shine. The formula contains HS3 Complex for heat protection and strengthening, Plysilicone-29 to boost reflective shine without heaviness, and TCM Mushroom Extract to retain moisture for healthier, more hydrated hair.
It helps create that salon-quality blowout with mirror-like shine at home. The fragrance Copper Skies features notes of sea water, orange blossom and warm amber. Apply it to damp hair before blow-drying for smooth, glossy results.

I Made a 'Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese' for My Local Bagel Shop—and It Sold Out Twice
If you know me, you know I’m a bagel girl deep into my soul. I will absolutely die on the hill that New Jersey has the best bagels in the country. I love them so much that after consistent visits to the best bagel shop in my area, Bagel Nosh in Waldwick, NJ, they've finally befriended bagel-loving little ol' me.
The owner, Christie Pollack, is truly the bagel queen of North Jersey. She’s built an incredible woman-and mom-owned business, and there’s a constant line out the door because her stuff is just that good. Christie and I connected after she saw me popping in a few times a week (okay… maybe more than a few). I’ve admired her hustle, her warmth and the community she’s created around something as delicious—and as sacred—as a stellar bagel.
So you can imagine how honored I was when she asked me to come up with my very own cream cheese flavor to feature in the shop. I've worked in food media as a culinary producer, recipe developer and food writer for years. I've won awards for my work, including two Emmys, but this was something extra special: my true Jersey girl food moment!
The challenge was to come up with something seasonal, delicious and creative. After giving it some thought, I had the perfect idea: Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese. Now it proudly sits in the case at Bagel Nosh alongside so many other beloved flavors and has become one of the top sellers.
When I shared info about this sweet spread on my Instagram, I got plenty of questions, including lots of requests from out-of-town family, friends and followers to share the recipe. It’s a simple four-ingredient combo, but there are a few steps along the way that make it an extra-special—and I'm sharing all of that here. Read on to find out how to make it at your house.

The idea for Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese came to me over the holidays while my kids were drinking hot cocoa and enjoying bagels for lunch on a cold day. I immediately ran to the kitchen to see what it would taste like if we combined the two into a delicious schmear.
My kids are very into sweet flavors of cream cheese, so I had a feeling that if it was a hit in my house, it would be a hit at the bagel shop—and it absolutely has been. It’s rich, chocolatey, fluffy and nostalgic in the best way…and it’s already sold out twice.
You'll love Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese because it’s pure comfort in a schmear. It's rich, creamy, chocolatey and nostalgic—your favorite warm winter beverage, turned into breakfast. The marshmallows add little pockets of sweetness, and it feels fun and indulgent without being overly complicated. It’s the perfect cozy treat for winter mornings and is the perfect thing for fun kids’ breakfasts (or for anyone else who's looking for a little breakfast magic).

Ingredients for Hot Cocoa Cream CheeseTo make this at home, you only need a few simple ingredients: 16 ounces of cream cheese, 2/3 cup of your favorite hot cocoa mix, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2/3 cup of mini marshmallows, plus a few extra for sprinkling on top. It's only four ingredients, but the result tastes like something straight out of a snow day dream.

How To Make Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese YourselfStart by adding your cream cheese, hot cocoa mix and vanilla extract to a mixing bowl. And here's where Christie's piece of advice for mixing comes in. She taught me that the best flavored cream cheeses are mixed by hand, not with a mixer. Overmixing can make the texture too loose, and you want this to stay thick enough to spread on your bagel.
Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma
And when she says, "by hand," she means that literally, so put on some gloves and get squishing! Gently mix until the cocoa is fully incorporated and the cream cheese turns that perfect hot-cocoa brown.
Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma
Once the mixture is smooth and combined, fold in the mini marshmallows by hand. Transfer it to a serving bowl or storage container, top with a few extra marshmallows and it’s ready to serve (or chill until breakfast).

Final ThoughtsI know I'm a little biased because this flavor was something I thought of, but I genuinely think it's fantastic and crowd-pleasing. I'm so proud of this flavor, not just because it’s delicious, but because it represents something I love so much: local community, thriving small businesses and the joy of creating something special that people actually get excited to eat.

Seeing Hot Cocoa Cream Cheese sitting in the Bagel Nosh case feels like such a pinch-me moment. I can't wait for you to try it, or if you're nearby, go grab a tub! And stay tuned for what flavors might be coming next.

You’ve Put Everyone Else First for Years—Why This Bahamas Resort Is the Ultimate Gen X Reset
As a mom of two, my kids always come first. Of course, that also applies to our family vacations. From Disney World to Universal Studios, we’ve visited countless theme parks and family-friendly destinations for a guaranteed good time. Don’t get me wrong, all those places are great, but my recent trip to the Bahamas was all about me.
Yes, you read that right. I removed my mom “hat” and welcomed some much-needed me time. The Rosewood Baha Mar was the perfect place for me to unwind and reconnect with myself. Admittedly, I relish in luxury resorts, and this property answered the call.
Set within the sprawling 1,000-acre oceanfront complex on Nassau’s Cable Beach—home to Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, SLS Baha Mar, a 15-acre water park, and private residences—Rosewood Baha Mar stands apart as the most refined and luxurious of the three hotels.
It’s a restorative haven for Gen-Xers and elder millennials like me who need a place to reset, recharge, and return home better equipped to care for ourselves and the people who depend on us. Plus, there’s plenty to do if you want to have some fun too!
Here’s my honest review on my multi-night stay at Rosewood Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas.

The LobbyAs soon as I arrived, the off-the-charts hospitality was already in full effect. Before I could make my way to the check-in counter, I’d already been offered a cool, cucumber-scented towel and a refreshing, rum-spiked welcome drink.
The lavish, British colonial-style lobby was awash in neutral, calming tones creating an airy, coastal vibe. The pristine marble floors sparkled, capturing flecks of light cast by the recessed lighting. The sprawling lobby served as the hub connecting the East and West wings of the resort.
The hum of attentive staffers buzzing about let me know that I would be in good hands during my stay.

The Rooms Courtesy of Rosewood Baha MarCourtesy of Rosewood Baha Mar
With 131 guest rooms and 90 suites, the beach oasis is big, but not overwhelming. I stayed in a sizable garden suite in the West Wing, with a spacious, private balcony overlooking a fortress of lush palm trees and tropical foliage with partial views of the sparkling, cerulean ocean.
Decorated with modern Bahamian flair, the room boasted a king-size bed, writing desk, and a sectional couch, perfect for lounging after a long beach day. A flat-screen TV and thoughtfully styled shelving—lined with artful coffee table books, cocktail essentials, and a Nespresso machine—completed the space.
The contrast of dark hardwood floors and creamy hues throughout added an elevated elegance that many Caribbean resorts lack.
Plus, the roomy bathroom had a freestanding bathtub and double-vanity, which I always appreciate—even when I’m traveling solo.
The Food and Drinks Courtesy of Rosewood Baha MarCourtesy of Rosewood Baha Mar
If you consider yourself a die-hard foodie with discerning taste buds, dining at the Rosewood will be a treat. The resort has six restaurants and bars, including a breakfast spot and poolside dining. I dined at several of the eateries and was delighted with just about every bite.
Café Boulud, arguably, the resort’s crown jewel features classic steakhouse cuisine with a French twist from legendary culinary master, Daniel Boulud. Since I’m not a steakhouse person, I was pleasantly surprised by the shrimp and lobster rigatoni dish that I ordered. It had just the right amount of spice and the pasta was cooked to perfection.
Costa, my favorite restaurant on the property, serves fresh traditional Mexican fare mixed with Bahamian influences. I had the best ceviche of my life, along with a flavorful paella that was as beautiful as it was delicious. I also sipped a spicy strawberrymargarita that complemented my meal. The best part? The restaurant’s unique and inviting design. Meals are served in spacious, open-air cabanas, surrounded by a koi pond. Watching the colorful koi swimming underfoot was an unusual dining experience. For me, those kinds of distinctive details are what sets properties apart and creates lasting memories for guests.
Courtesy of Rosewood Baha Mar
I also enjoyed The Library, a light-filled comfortable lounge where breakfast and Afternoon Tea are served. I dropped in for Afternoon Tea and had an array of sweet and savory pastries and chamomile tea that soothed my soul and settled my temperamental stomach.
Stopping by Manor Bar is also a must. As soon as I entered, it was as if I had been transported back in time thanks to refined, early 20th century decor and overall vibe. Plus, the bartenders and male staff are decked out in tailored suits, which adds a level of sophistication. The crafted cocktails were strong, so keep that in mind when ordering.

Amenities and Fun ActivitiesK
Whether you want to stay onsite or venture off on an excursion, the resort offers a variety of activities to meet your needs. Because I prefer quieter, more meaningful activities, I chose The Ocean Guardian Experience—a half-day boating excursion with renowned Bahamian dive guide and filmmaker André Musgrove, who shared his deep knowledge of the island’s marine life. Other guests on the excursion snorkeled while I soaked up the sun and took selfies. It was a relaxing and enlightening way to see more of the island.
Again, I’m very chill and laidback when it comes to activities and after all, this trip was intended to be a reset. So, what better way to accomplish that then by joining in a yoga session with some eye-catching special guests: flamingos!
Doing yoga moves with flamingos was not on my bingo card, but it was an enjoyable and memorable experience that I won’t soon forget.
Of course, the sprawling resort also has several pools. Each of the pools are designed for relaxation. During my stay, I didn’t hear any blaring music pumping from the speakers. Instead, I heard nature’s soundtrack of chirping birds and crashing ocean waves. I don’t know if I just got lucky or if the low-key vibe is typical. Nonetheless, I was happy to not be subjected to loud music throughout the day and night.

Family-friendly OfferingsK
If you want to bring your kids with you, there’s plenty to keep them busy and entertained. The Explorers Club has daily activities like treasure hunting and nature-inspired games. There are also childcare services for parents who might want a break. Plus, the spa even has a thoughtful selection of kid-friendly treatments.

The SpaL
Speaking of pampering, the resort’s Sense Spa has seven rooms and offers Bahamian-influenced treatments. I indulged in a 60-minute, full body, deep tissue massage with just the right pressure, leaving me relaxed, yet rejuvenated.
The spa also offers facials, pedicures, manicures, makeup, and hair services.
Getting ThereNo need to worry about a long ride to the resort. Thankfully, the property is only a 15-minute drive from Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) airport. Guests can book private transportation or hail a taxi to and from the resort. Keep in mind that ride-sharing app services like Uber and Lyft are unavailable in the Bahamas.

This Costco Find Is a Total Weeknight Dinner Game-Changer
If you’re looking for a quick way to add big flavor to your weeknight dinners without a big lift, this Costco find has you covered.
Eagle-eyed shoppers recently spotted a six-pack of Kevin’s simmer sauces at the warehouse giant for $13.89, giving shoppers the opportunity to easily upgrade proteins and vegetables and get dinner on the table in minutes.

View this post on InstagramThe six-pack includes individual sauce packets of both teriyaki and Thai coconut flavors, which, like all Kevin’s products, are gluten-free and made with clean ingredients.
The teriyaki sauce is soy-free, made instead with coconut aminos, and contains ginger and garlic. Additionally, it is both paleo and keto-certified. The Thai coconut sauce combines coconut milk, basil, and Thai spices, and is currently sold out on the Kevin’s Natural Food website, so if you’re interested in trying it, Costco may be the move.

In addition to the simmer sauces, Kevin’s products have been a longtime staple at Costco warehouses, with customers finding sous-vide chicken and beef options in the refrigerated sections in a variety of flavors like cilantro lime and Korean BBQ.
Reddit users have taken notice of the simmer sauces, posting on social media that they “really like the Thai coconut chicken. I actually just got the simmering sauce packet from my grocery store yesterday…first time I’ve seen just the sauce. Should be cheaper this way too.”
A Redditor on another thread praised the brand’s offerings at Costco, writing that they “really enjoy Kevin’s for a quick meal. The meat always seems to be juicy and the flavors are bold.”
Though some users on the social media platform have griped about the quality of the product, saying it’s not as good as comparable items at restaurants, others defended the brand’s Thai-style coconut chicken, writing, “I don't know if the hate is coming from people trying to compare it to honest to goodness Thai cooking, or if you're comparing it to your favorite restaurant's dish, but it's actually pretty good for what it is.”
More agreed, commenting, “Yeah, exactly. It’s a great, quick meal that’s not frozen pizza. I can do that, a side of rice, and veggies in 20 minutes. Boom. Dinner done.”

Baz Luhrmann Reveals What He Would've Told Elvis Presley Before His Death
Baz Luhrmann knows exactly what he would say to Elvis Presley if he were given the chance.
Luhrmann, who directed the new movie EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, as well as the 2022 biopic Elvis, was asked in a recent interview what he would tell Presley if he was able to speak to the late King of Rock and Roll when he was still alive.
"If he was here in this room, what would it be [that you would say]?" Jermaine D'Vauz asked Luhrmann on a recent episode of the Jermaine Plane podcast.
"I think I'd say to him, 'Elvis, you've got to go on tour and I'm going to help you do it,'" Luhrmann replied.
Presley was never able to embark on a world tour, due to what is widely believed to have been a decision made by his manager Colonel Tom Parker, who was an undocumented immigrant from the Netherlands and feared that leaving the U.S. would mean he could never return.
As a result, Presley spent the last years of his life performing in Las Vegas at the International Hotel (later renamed the Hilton Hotel, and now called the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino). He died in August 1977 at the age of 42.
View this post on Instagram"I think Elvis lives in a very rarified space to where other artists live...maybe one other artist is that famous," Luhrmann explained during the podcast interview, noting that he would've felt compelled to "help" Presley before his tragic downfall.
"I think your compulsion would be to do something to not protect him, but help him get through that kind of chamber that he was locked into that was self-destructive," Luhrmann stated.
"In a crazy way, I'm taking Elvis on the world tour he never had," he added.
EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is now in theaters for an exclusive 1-week IMAX engagement, followed by a nationwide release beginning Friday, Feb. 27.

The groundbreaking mission quickly turns into a terrifying fight for survival as the crew uncovers deadly secrets about their creators and the universe.

Prometheus Resurgence on NetflixFourteen years after its original release, Prometheus is finally getting its due thanks to a favorable Netflix algorithm. As of February 2026, the film tops Netflix’s global charts, reaching No. 1 in multiple regions around the world.
The Power of Streaming PlatformsPrometheus’ newfound popularity highlights the influence of streaming platforms. While the streaming landscape can be crowded, services like Netflix and Amazon Prime allow viewers to rediscover previously released content or find titles that may have been overlooked or underappreciated during their initial release.

'70s Rock Legend Sounds Off on the Future of Music
Paul Stanley shared his thoughts on the future of rock music. The legendary KISS frontman recently told People magazine that he hopes the next generation of musicians will stop relying on technology and instead go old school.
“I'd like to see people playing instruments,” Stanley, 74, told the outlet in late January. “I'd like to see people relying less on computers and technology and relying more on passion.”
“Perfection, that's not what I consider music,” the “Detroit Rock City” singer added. “Music is passion.”
Stanley, who co-founded KISS in 1973 with Gene Simmons (bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar), and Peter Criss (drums), previously said the best music is not perfect.
In 2021, he told Audio Media International, "Too often, people replace passion with perfection. If you listen to all the music that you love. It’s not perfect. Sometimes that music is almost going off the rails, and that’s what makes it so great!”
Stanley also noted that all of his favorite music was made with “passion.”
"All the great music that I loved when I was younger was not made under a microscope or on a computer," he previously told Cleveland magazine. "Whether it was all the great Motown stuff, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, or the Beatles — the list goes on and on — that music was made from passion.”
RELATED: ‘80s Glam Rocker Was Told He’d Never Sing Again
While he did not call out any artists or bands directly, Stanley has acknowledged that he was bound to see technology come into play after so many years in the music business.
“I think if you manage to survive and thrive through multiple decades, you are bound to see technology and it’s part of evolution,” he admitted to Digital Journal in an interview.
The KISS rocker, who penned hits such as "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "I Was Made for Lovin' You" over his 50-year career, warned up-and-coming artists that they must be passionate about music or they will be set up to fail.
“If you have any doubts about becoming a musician, then find something else,” Stanley said. “It is very difficult, and you will only be doing it if you have no choice. Do it if you must do it, and you are compelled to do it, and if it’s something inside of you. Don’t make the intellectual decision, make the emotional decision.”
A New Buttery Bakery Treat at Costco Pairs Perfectly With Coffee
Heading out for a weekend Costco run often means taking a stroll down the bakery aisle. Between rotating seasonal items and familiar comfort classics, it’s one of the easiest places to find something that brightens the day.
This week, if you plan on browsing the bakery section, you may notice a sweet new addition: Hand-Dipped Shortbread Cookies.
Sold in an 18-count package for $12.99, these generously sized squares begin with a buttery shortbread base. Each cookie is half dipped in rich chocolate and finished with a drizzle of white chocolate, creating a layered sweetness that still lets the classic shortbread flavor come through.
The treat was shared on TikTok by @costcobuys4u on February 14, where you can get a closer look at the cookies’ size and chocolate finish.

♬ All Eyes On Me - Instrumental - Dj BeliteShortbread is widely loved for its delicate texture and simple ingredients, and adding chocolate introduces a contrast that enhances both the sweetness and the buttery base. Because the cookies are portioned into generous squares, they work well for sharing, serving alongside coffee, or keeping on hand for an easy dessert. Their familiar flavor and crumb make them just as suited for a quiet afternoon treat as they are for weekend gatherings.

Shortbread’s Origins Trace Back to Medieval ScotlandHistoric UK explains that Scottish shortbread developed from medieval “biscuit bread,” a practice in which leftover bread dough was dried in a low oven until it hardened into a rusk. Over time, butter replaced yeast in the mixture, transforming the twice-baked bread into the rich, tender biscuit now recognized as shortbread.
Classic plain shortbread cookies.I
As butter became more accessible, the recipe evolved into the simple combination of flour, sugar, and butter that defines traditional shortbread today. Because butter was once considered a luxury ingredient, the cookie was reserved for holidays and special celebrations. Historic UK also notes that in Shetland, shortbread was traditionally broken over the head of a new bride as a symbol of good luck.
That heritage still shapes how shortbread is enjoyed today, with its crumbly texture and buttery flavor connecting modern bakers and shoppers to centuries of Scottish baking tradition.
For anyone who appreciates a classic bakery flavor with a chocolate twist, this newest addition provides a simple option that feels both familiar and special.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what you want waiting on the kitchen counter to start the day, or wind it down.

Stoneware also retains heat well, so you can enjoy things like oatmeal and soup for longer periods.

If the Winter Olympics Has You Dreaming of a Dolomites Trip, Here’s Where to Go According to a PBS Travel Host
If the 2026 Winter Olympics has you dreaming of a Dolomites trip, you aren't alone. While the Games officially wrap up on February 22, the world-class terrain and alpine culture that defined the events are just getting started for the season. I recently spoke with Kathy McCabe, a PBS travel host and Italy expert, who says that while Milan is the heartbeat of northern Italy, Cortina and the Dolomites are the soul.
Shaped by dramatic landscapes and a strong mountain culture influenced by World War I, when the Alpini mountain troops defended strategic high passes that can still be explored today, the region tells a story of survival and beauty. After the war, many of those military routes were repurposed into hiking trails and via ferrata, which is why so many outdoor experiences in the Dolomites follow historic wartime paths. As McCabe notes, “that legacy continues to shape the region’s sense of resilience, respect for the mountains, and traditions of guided alpine travel, as well as its local culture and cuisine.”
Whether you are inspired by the elite downhill courses or the rugged history of the peaks, here is how to experience the best of the region.

In Cortina d’Ampezzo, the legendary Olimpia delle Tofane course on Tofana di Mezzo is the site of the women’s alpine skiing events. While the specific Olympic courses may be restricted during competition, the surrounding Faloria–Cristallo ski area remains a favorite. McCabe suggests that “being in Cortina at that time allows visitors to witness elite racing on one of the most storied downhill courses in the world, while skiing nearby areas that remain open.” She recommends booking sessions to “ski with elite instructors and former Olympians, providing a deep connection to the region’s ski culture.”
For travelers who want to experience the sheer scale of the Dolomites, a Dolomiti Ski Safari is an exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Over the course of a week, skiers move across the vast Dolomiti Superski network with a private instructor and seamless luggage transfers. This particular journey connects top resorts, luxury hotels and iconic panoramas such as Pordoi and Marmolada, offering one of the most immersive ways to explore the region.
Meanwhile, for adrenaline seekers, heliskiing in Livigno delivers an unforgettable experience. After a helicopter ascent to remote alpine peaks, skiers enjoy a freeride descent through pristine, untouched terrain in the heart of the Alta Valtellina mountains. Each outing is led by a certified UIAGM mountain guide, ensuring both safety and access to extraordinary landscapes far from crowded slopes, with rates starting at approximately €1,200 for up to four people.

For an intimate experience, McCabe gravitates toward smaller, design-forward hotels. “With just 33 rooms and suites, it feels intimate and personal, while still delivering a high level of luxury,” she says of Rosapetra Spa Resort. “The design blends natural materials like wood and stone with contemporary alpine style, and the spa is considered has been voted the best in Italy.” Another legendary retreat is Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano, which she notes “is deeply connected to local culture and outdoor life, combining elegant design with a strong sense of place.” For those who love a bit of history, she points to Hotel de la Poste, a landmark property on Piazza Roma. “It is known for its old-world Alpine character and its iconic Bar del Posta, once frequented by Ernest Hemingway, which remains one of the town’s most atmospheric spots for an aperitivo.”

Mountain dining in the Dolomites focuses on traditional, warming dishes that feel earned after a day on the slopes. McCabe suggests that Da Aurelio, perched on Passo Giau, is as much about the setting as the food. “Sitting at over 6,000 feet, it offers sweeping views of some of the Dolomites’ most iconic peaks, including Marmolada. The menu highlights traditional mountain dishes, and dining on the terrace on a clear day is one of the most memorable food experiences in the region.” For a fine dining experience, she recommends Tivoli, led by Michelin-starred chef Graziano Prest, which “focuses on refined Alpine cuisine made with seasonal ingredients and meticulous technique.”

If you aren't a skier, the region offers plenty of high-altitude recovery. McCabe is a fan of Bormio Terme, where the thermal baths offer “a modern spa experience with indoor and outdoor pools fed by naturally hot spring water.” She adds that, “surrounded by snow-covered peaks, it is an ideal place to slow down after days on the slopes.” For travelers visiting outside the winter season, she recommends a via ferrata, as it is "the experience that best captures the spirit of the Dolomites." These secured mountain routes follow historic paths carved into the rock, many of them originally built during World War I. “Walking them today combines adventure, history and extraordinary views, offering a powerful way to experience the mountains beyond skiing.”

45 Years Ago Today, Rock Hall Icon Scored Their First and Only No. 1 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100
On Feb. 21, 1981, Dolly Parton began a two-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “9 to 5,” marking the first—and only—time she topped the all-genre singles chart as a solo artist.
While Parton had already racked up numerous No. 1 hits on the country charts, “9 to 5” represented a breakthrough on the broader pop landscape. The song simultaneously topped the Billboard Country chart and the Adult Contemporary chart, making her only the second woman in history up to that point to lead both the country chart and the Hot 100 with the same single (the first was Jeannie C. Riley with her 1968 hit "Harper Valley PTA").
Written and recorded for the 1980 comedy film 9 to 5, which starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Parton in her feature film debut, the song quickly became something far bigger than a soundtrack single. Its sharp, witty lyrics about workplace frustrations—and that instantly recognizable “typewriter” rhythm Parton created by clicking her acrylic nails together—helped turn it into an anthem for working women across America.
Released as a single in November 1980, “9 to 5” earned Parton an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song at the 53rd Academy Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, ultimately winning Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance, Female. In 2004, the American Film Institute ranked it No. 78 on its “100 Years…100 Songs” list.
Commercially, the song was a juggernaut. It was certified gold by the RIAA in February 1981 and has since gone multi-platinum, with millions of copies sold and streamed worldwide. It topped charts in Canada and reached the Top 10 in several international markets.
Despite Parton's catalog full of hits, “9 to 5” remains her only solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Though she later returned to the top of the chart in 1983 with “Islands in the Stream,” that song was released as a Kenny Rogers single with Parton as a featured artist.
Before “9 to 5,” Parton had come close to pop chart supremacy. “Here You Come Again” reached No. 3 in 1977, while songs like “Two Doors Down,” “Baby I’m Burnin’,” “Starting Over Again,” and even “I Will Always Love You” all charted on the Hot 100 without claiming the top spot. But it was “9 to 5” that finally pushed her all the way to No. 1.
More than four decades later, the song’s legacy continues. It inspired a Broadway musical adaptation, has appeared in countless films and television series, and remains one of the defining tracks of Parton’s career—a career that led to her 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
