Michael J. Fox’s Foundation Surpasses U.S. Government in Parkinson’s Funding

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 11:44am

Michael J. Fox may be best known for his decades-long acting career, but more than 25 years after launching his foundation, the Back to the Future star has built the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research in the world.

In a new interview with Time published Friday, February 20, Fox, 64, reflected on the origins of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and how it’s grown since its founding in 2000. Today, the organization has provided more than $2 billion to scientists — surpassing even the U.S. government in Parkinson’s research funding.

When the Shrinking actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at age 29 in 1991, he said the condition didn’t receive very much attention.

“It was an old person’s disease,” he told the publication. “It was not a disease that got much attention.”

After coming to terms with the fact that he would be living with the disease for the rest of his life, Fox immersed himself in learning about the science behind it.

“I was motivated by what I heard from the science people who said that the science is ahead of the money,” he said. “They said, ‘If you can direct money toward the right research, we can speed things along.’ And then I was touched and motivated by the patient community. They just needed someone to step in and push things along.”

In 2000, Fox co-created the foundation with Deborah Brooks, formerly of Goldman Sachs, with a clear purpose. He described the organization’s early role as being “to be a noodge; I wanted to push things along.”

He also took a direct approach to fundraising, appealing to competitive instincts in the business world.

“He went where the money is — to businesses and hedge funds — and appealed to the ‘ego side of them, to the winners who wanted to win, and I said, ‘Let’s win [against this disease],’” the outlet reported. Fox added, “I’ll come in your office, I’ll take pictures with all of your employees, and I’ll pound you for money.”

More than two decades later, the foundation’s work has become more than just about raising money. According to Brooks, who oversees fundraising and marketing efforts, the goal has always centered on patients.

“Our goal was to put ourselves and the capital we would raise into the perspective of the patients: what are their unmet needs, and what could be done?” she said. “What we saw at that time was not much in the way of novel targets for drug development. And I think today there are 175-plus therapeutic interventions being tested in humans.”

Fox acknowledged that while significant progress has been made, the work isn’t close to being finished.

“I know we’ve done a lot, but we haven’t cured Parkinson’s,” he said. “I’m always pushing and never happy until we get this done. We’ve changed the way people think about the disease, and we know there’s an end, and we’ll find it.”

Even with the foundation’s unprecedented scale and funding impact, the Family Ties alum made it clear that his ultimate goal is eliminating the disease entirely.

“I’d like to see a world without Parkinson’s, and I think that will happen,” he said. “I think in 30, 40 years, this will be done. Optimism is a powerful thing.”

How Eric Dane's Girlfriend Is Remembering the Late Actor

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 11:43am

Janell Shirtcliffis remembering her boyfriendEric Dane in her own quiet way.

Just days after the Grey’s Anatomy star’s death at 53, the filmmaker and photographer shared an emotional series of photos to her Instagram story, offering a glimpse into their private relationship.

The multiple images showed the couple holding hands, laughing together, and posing during intimate moments away from the spotlight.  In one particularly striking photo, Dane appears to be getting a tattoo, smiling. Another video shows him getting his photo taken by what is presumably one of Shirtcliff's two children.

Dane and Shirtcliff, 42, made their red carpet debut together in 2025 at the premiere of his Amazon Prime series Countdown. Though they reportedly had been together for years, they largely kept their relationship private after that appearance.

At the same time, Dane remained legally married to actress Rebecca Gayheart, who stood by him throughout his battle with ALS. In the months before his death, Gayheart withdrew her divorce filing following his public diagnosis in April 2025—a decision she later said was about family.

Speaking on the Broad Ideas podcast last November, Gayheart explained she wanted their daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, to learn to “show up for people no matter what. He is our family. He is your father,” she said. “We will get through it the best we can.”

She described their dynamic as “super complicated” but emphasized that her priority was ensuring her daughters would have no regrets. “I just want to make sure I provide them with the opportunity to spend time with him so that they don’t ever look back and go, ‘I wish I would have spent some time with my dad,’” she shared.

Dane died on Thursday, February 19, 10 months after revealing his ALS diagnosis. In a statement released to Parade, his family said, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

Snooki’s Cervical Cancer Warning Hits Hard, Echoing a Country Star’s Tragic Fight

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 11:23am

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 38, had a clear message for fans after being diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer: "Make sure you get your pap smears."

The Jersey Shore alum recently revealed that a biopsy confirmed she was in an early stage of the disease and that she will undergo a hysterectomy — a procedure that 40-year-old country singer Joey Feek had hoped would help put her own stage 4 cervical cancer into remission. Joey was diagnosed shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana, in 2014. The diagnosis came as a shock to her and her husband, Rory, and she initially treated the cancer with a radical hysterectomy. Sadly, in 2015, she learned the cancer had returned and spread to her colon.

Joey underwent more surgery and intensive chemotherapy and radiation, but after a handful of months, doctors learned that the treatments were ultimately unable to stop the disease from progressing further.

"Then the doctor explained that the scans revealed that two quarter-sized tumors have already grown back in the same area that they had been blasting daily with chemo and radiation," Rory wrote in his blog at the time via The Boot. "And that many more smaller tumors were visible all throughout the abdominal region.  She said that the cancer was aggressively spreading in spite of all they’ve been doing."

He continued: "So we did what you do when the medicine isn’t working, and the doctors are at a loss…and when the ‘statistics” say you can do more chemo, but it will only buy you a little time…We came home. Not to die. But to live."

Joey entered hospice care in Nov. 2015 at her family home in Indiana. Surrounded by her parents, siblings, husband, and infant daughter, Joey spent her remaining days with loved ones. By springtime 2016, Rory shared that Joey's "body is shutting down quickly," he wrote in his blog via the IndyStar. "The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days ... at the most."

Joey died on March 4, 2016, while Rory held her hand, her obituary reads. “My wife’s greatest dream came true today,” Rory Feek wrote in his blog, shared in her obituary. “She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her Savior.”

In a triumphant feat, Alysa Liutook home the gold medal in women’s singles figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, becoming the first American woman to win Olympic gold in the event since Sarah Hughes in 2002.

At just 20-years-old, the Olympian has taken the world by storm, and that includes some of Hollywood’s elite. Taking to Instagram, Barbara Streisand praised Liu and shared a special connection between the pair.

“We were so happy to see Alysa Liu win the gold medal in Milan yesterday. My husband just showed me that in 2019 she skated to my song ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade,’” Streisand, 83, began, referring to her husband, James Brolin.

“I’m so proud of her. I heard that she is half Chinese. My second family in Brooklyn that lived above us was a Chinese family called the Choys. I worked in their Chinese restaurant since I was 12 years old and also babysat for their children. She was like a second mother to me,” Streisand concluded.

In the photo, Streisand and Brolin, 85, appear to be posing with the Choy family.

DWTS Fans Predict Olympic Gold Medalist Will Be on Season 35

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:56am

Many Dancing With the Stars fans are tuning into the Winter Olympics—and they haven't missed a beat. Over the past 24 hours, some DWTS pros, including Alan Bersten, have congratulated Alysa Liu for winning gold in women's figure skating. It didn't take long for DWTS fans to consider the possibility that Liu could be case on Season 35 of the popular dance competition show.

After seeing the pros share congratulatory messages, tagging Liu in their Instagram Stories, one fan started a new Reddit thread, wondering if Liu could be asked to join the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.

"I would die so happily if she does dwts. Her mentality of would be so awesome for the show," one person wrote.

"I would love her with Brandon he could finally get a mirrorball and I think they would have sm fun together they have similar personalities," another Redditor said, suggesting that Liu join the competition and be paired with pro Brandon Armstrong.

"With her general attitude towards skating, I could definitely see her taking a break for a season to do DWTS just because she thinks it's a cool opportunity," someone else added.

"She will absolutely be asked I cannot imagine TPTB passing on at least asking for the first American female in 24 years to win figure skating gold. But idk if she’d say yes. Never really know with Alysa," a fourth comment read.

Liu made history as the first U.S. women's figure skater to take gold since Sarah Hughes back in 2002.

"I'm very happy with how I skated," Liu said after the medal ceremony, according to NBC. "[It was an] unbelievable feeling when I was done skating. And when I was skating — hearing the cheers — and I felt so connected with the audience. I want to be out there again."

Liu has thousands of fans behind her and certainly wouldn't be the first Olympian to compete on DWTS, if she was offered the gig. Others include gymnasts Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, and Jordan Chiles, as well as figure skaters Kristi Yamaguchi, Adam Rippon, and Meryl Davis, to name a few.

Dolly Parton’s Blunt Confession About This Country Music Icon

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:55am

Dolly Parton once gave a strikingly honest assessment of a fellow country legend’s singing ability — and her blunt remark still stands out years later.

The country superstar sat down for an interview for Dave Grohl’s 2014 HBO docuseries Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. There, Parton discussed her career, songwriting, and the Nashville music scene with Grohl for the band's 20th-anniversary album.

However, one series of remarks stood out among the others. It was her blunt confession about a fellow, legendary country superstar, Johnny Cash.

“Johnny was not a great singer as far as a voice, but I always think of Johnny as the John Wayne of country music. He just had a presence, had an authority. He just had a way about him that was just so different," she admitted.

She added that Cash embodied "sex appeal." She watched him perform at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time as a teenager. "I was sittin' in the audience, and I was just a girl, and my hormones were probably beginning to rage."

"Johnny came out on stage and all that weird moving and all. It just really stirred me. I just couldn't understand. I had a terrible crush on him," she continued.

"That's what true charisma was. Magnetism, the way he moved."

Parton concluded, "We got to be friends through the years, and I told him he was my first crush. June (Carter Cash) used to get a bit jealous when I would tell him I had a big crush on him; in a good way."

Cash would later introduce Parton to the Grand Ole Opry community as a young performer in 1959, reported PEOPLE Magazine. This milestone moment was one she never forgot.

Parton sang the George Jones song “You Gotta Be My Baby” alongside her uncle, Bill Owens. She would go on to receive three encores, as reported by PEOPLE.

Parton told the publication, "Having him introduce me that night as a very young girl — I was just a teenager, and I got to sing on the Grand Ole Opry — that was a magic night. I felt special that night, too.”

The country legend later spoke of Cash and his wife during an appearance on BunnieXo's Dumb Blonde podcast. She said that her friendship with the Cash's lasted for many years.

“He was a real nice guy and very quiet. She was a loudmouth like me, so we got along just fine,” Parton quipped. “And I remember when somebody said something about, ‘Johnny, don’t you get tired of hearing June talk all the time?’ And he said, ‘No. I do some of my best thinking when June’s talking.’”

Dolly Parton continues to record and perform. June Carter Cash died on May 15, 2003. Johnny Cash died four months later. They were married for 35 years.

Exactly What To Eat and Drink When You Haven’t Pooped in Days

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:45am

When you haven’t pooped in days, you may feel bloated, sluggish and just miserable. And, you want to get things moving quickly. Fortunately, there are a few foods and drinks that can help.

Everyone has different bowel habits, and how frequently you poop can sometimes vary based on your diet and exercise habits. But when you've had fewer than three bowel movements a week, it's technically considered constipation, according to the National Institutes of Health. Other constipation symptoms include having hard, dry stools that are difficult to pass or feeling that you can’t fully empty your bowel.

Women tend to experience constipation more often. So do older adults, people with gastrointestinal diseases or those who don’t consume enough fiber and water.

Eating enough fiber and drinking plenty of water are essential ways of preventing constipation and staying regular. But most Americans don’t consume enough fiber or water, which is likely why constipation can be common. Increasing your intake of both could help when you’re backed up.

“Dietary fiber is important for relieving constipation because it increases stool bulk and water content,” says Dr. Sandhya Shukla, MD, a gastroenterologist at Atlantic Coast Gastroenterology Associates, a division of Allied Digestive Health, in Brick Township, New Jersey. “This softens stool and accelerates intestinal movement.”

But, “Fiber needs water to work,” says Dr. Aditi Stanton, MD,a gastroenterologist at Gastro Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. “If you add a lot of fiber but don’t drink enough, you can actually feel more bloated and constipated.”

So, what should you eat or drink when you haven’t pooped in a few days? Here’s what gastroenterologists recommend.

Why Fiber and Water Improve Regularity

Fiber adds bulk and softness to stool, Dr. Stanton says. This tells your gut to start moving.

Fiber can be soluble or insoluble, Dr. Shukla adds. Soluble fiber attracts water and becomes gel-like during digestion, which slows the process, while insoluble fiber adds bulk to your stool so that it passes more quickly, according to the National Library of Medicine

“Soluble fiber, particularly psyllium, is best for softening stool and has the strongest evidence for treating chronic constipation,” Dr. Shukla says. “When gut bacteria ferment soluble fiber, they produce short-chain fatty acids and gases that further promote intestinal movement.”

Related: ‘I’m a Gastroenterologist—This Is the Most Overlooked Cause of Digestive Issues’

Certain fibers, like psyllium and inulin, may act as prebiotics, stimulating beneficial intestinal bacteria, she adds. Women need 25 to 28 grams of fiber per day, and men need 28 to 34 grams, according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Just make sure you increase your fiber intake slowly.

You also need to pair your fiber with water, Dr. Stanton says. Otherwise, it could make your constipation worse.

“Water helps keep stools soft and makes the passage easier,” Dr. Shukla says. “However, water helps with constipation primarily when someone is dehydrated or has inadequate baseline fluid intake. Increasing water alone does not treat constipation.”

Related: Gastroenterologists Are Begging People To Avoid This One Common Fiber Mistake

3 Things To Eat (And Drink) When You Haven’t Pooped in Days

When you haven’t pooped in days, start by increasing your fluid intake, Dr. Stanton says. Here are a few other foods and drinks to try:

1. Kiwi

Research suggests that eating two kiwifruits a day can be as effective as psyllium supplements in relieving constipation, Dr. Shukla says. The fruits are high in fiber and water.

2. Prunes

Prunes also help, Dr. Shukla says. They’re rich in fiber, but also contain sorbitol, a naturally occurring sugar alcohol, which doesn’t break down in digestion. So when it reaches the colon, it triggers a bowel movement, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine

3. Warm beverages

“Warm drinks in the morning, like coffee or tea, can also stimulate the GI tract to start moving,” Dr. Stanton says. Caffeine stimulates the bowels, and the temperature of the beverage can quicken digestive motility.

When To Worry

Talk to your doctor if you’re constipated and have severe belly pain, can’t pass gas, are vomiting, see blood in your stool or have bowel habits suddenly change (and don’t return to normal), especially if you’re over 45, Dr. Stanton says. Doctors will discuss your diet, medications and any red-flag symptoms.

“Treatment can involve fiber and an over‑the‑counter osmotic laxative, or it can involve colonoscopy to evaluate the symptoms, or prescription medications and pelvic floor therapy if constipation is chronic or more complicated,” she says.

Why Olympian Alysa Liu’s Hug With Ami Nakai Is Going Viral

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:35am

Alysa Liu didn’t just win gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics—she also delivered one of the Games’ most heartwarming moments.

After final results were announced at Milano Ice Skating Arena on Thursday, Friday 19, confirming that Liu, 20, had secured gold and Japan’s Ami Nakai, 17, had taken bronze, the American skater immediately rushed across the ice to embrace her fellow competitor. And it wasn't just a hug—Liu squeezed Nakai so tight, lifting her off the ground at one point.

For Liu, the moment was simple. She told PEOPLE she has competed against Nakai several times in the past and genuinely admires her. “She's just so cute,” Liu says. “She's so happy on the ice.” She added that she “could tell” Nakai loves to skate and was “really happy with her scores,” which made the celebration feel natural. “I was like, 'I gotta celebrate like she did,'” Liu explained.

The spontaneous hug quickly went viral, with fans praising the wholesome show of sportsmanship.

“Alysa Liu setting the standard for sportsmanship and joy,” one TikTok user wrote.

Another shared, “Alysa has to be one of the most likable athletes I’ve ever watched.”

“This is what America is supposed to be about. Winning and embracing your opponent. Respect,” noted a third.

The hug capped off a whirlwind week for Liu. Just days earlier, she helped Team USA capture gold in the figure skating team event—a medal she famously damaged during her enthusiastic celebration. “I was just jumping up and down, as one does to celebrate, and it just dropped,” she said. “It just literally fell off of the ribbon. It got very scratched up…pretty dented.” Though she admitted, “I actually liked it when it was off the ribbon, but that’s not allowed,” Olympic officials required her to exchange it for a new one.

Her individual gold made history, too. “I literally can’t process this,” Liu said shortly after her victory on Thursday, becoming the first American woman to win Olympic singles gold since 2002. Reflecting on her performance, she shared, “The feelings I felt out there were calm, happy, and confident.”

A prodigy who won her first U.S. title at 13, Liu stunned fans by retiring after the 2022 Beijing Olympics to focus on life beyond skating. She enrolled at UCLA and stepped away from elite competition before returning in 2024—this time on her own terms. As she’s said to the outlet, “Taking breaks is okay,” adding, “Sometimes, taking a step back is what's needed to see the full picture.”

KATSEYE's Manon Bannerman announced on Friday that she will be temporarily stepping away from the girl group as she focuses "on her health and wellbeing."

The group posted a statement on Weverse and on their various social media platforms to share the news of Bannerman's hiatus, stating that scheduled performances and events will still occur in her absence.

"We fully support this decision. KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right."

Bannerman posted her own statement on Weverse through her personal account to reassure her fans that she was doing alright.

"Sometimes things unfold in ways we don't fully control, but I'm trusting the bigger picture," she wrote. "Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and I can't wait to see you again."

Bannerman is one of six members who were selected by major global record labels HYBE and Geffen Records in 2023 to join KATSEYE during a year-long training program and reality series called The Debut: Dream Academy. During the series, 20 candidates from all over the world completed various "missions" which involved choreographed performances that tested their dancing, singing and stage presence skills. Fans and judges voted on the candidates to select the final six that would join the new girl group. In the end, the six that were chosen were Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Sophia Laforteza, Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung.

In 2024, the Netflix series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE was released, which documented the entire Dream Academy experience from beginning to end in a documentary style. Following the formation of KATSEYE, the girl group quickly began to dominate the pop music scene all over the world — their single "Touch" (2024) went viral on social media platforms. In August of 2024, the group released their first EP SIS (Soft is Strong), which landed KATSEYE at the top of the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. Their 2025 single "Gnarly" would be the first track to secure them a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

KATSEYE was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2025, which ultimately went to Olivia Dean during the ceremony in February of 2026. Their song "Gabriela" (2025) was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

'Euphoria' Creator Donates Massive Amount to GoFundMe for Eric Dane’s Daughters After Actor's Death

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:19am

The death of beloved actor Eric Dane has his friends rally around his two teenage daughters, Billie Beatrice Dane, 15, and Georgia Geraldine Dane, 13, with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart.

On Friday, friends of Dane’s launched a GoFundMe page to help Dane’s girls financially.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and Ashley Levinson are among the nearly 1,000 people who have donated to the GoFundMe. The couple donated a staggering amount of $27,000, which made a nice dent in the $250,000 goal set.

Levinson and Dane became close while working on Euphoria. Dane told Variety last year that working with Levinson allowed him to be free as an artist.

“I just have so much trust in Sam Levinson that I don’t really need to know what’s happening. On the day, he can just tell me what to do and where to go, and I’m good with it,” Dane shared.

Following the news of Dane’s death, Levinson paid tribute to him. “I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift. Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing,” Levinson shared in a statement to Variety.

Now, Levinson and others are helping to ensure the belovedGrey’s Anatomy star’s family are taken care of after losing him to ALS.

“Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric's friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs,” read part of the message on the GoFundMe.

As of this writing, almost $150,000 of the $250,000 goal had been reached in less than one day since the GoFundMe was created.

Dane’s friends setting up the GoFundMe comes hot on the heels of James Van Der Beek’s friends setting up one following his death for his family. Van Der Beek’s GoFundMe saw large donations from Hollywood but also drew serious backlash as the amount raised reached over $2.7 million.

Costco Shoppers Say ‘The Future Has Arrived’ With New Self-Checkout Terminals

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:19am

Self-checkout terminals can be a pretty polarizing topic for some people.

While a lot of shoppers are all for it, praising the faster lines and added convenience, others prefer the traditional checkout experience and the assistance of a cashier, and worry that automation can sometimes create longer waits or technical hiccups.

The topic becomes even more polarizing as it relates to big box retailers like Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and beyond.

Taking to Reddit, one Costco shopper started a now-popular thread after sharing a photograph of the new self-checkout terminals at a store in Issaquah, Washington.

“Nice. So, I don’t need to unload my stuff from my cart!” one user commented, referring to the addition of a scanner gun, to which another replied, “The future has arrived!”

To the dismay of some Costco shoppers, their locations still don’t have the scanner guns, or they’ve been removed after a trial period gone wrong.

“Denver locations used to have scanner guns out for members, but now only a staff person can check you out at self-checkout. So it’s slower than ever. If they are moving to that they should make it express 10 or less items or get rid of it completely,” one person wrote.

“My warehouse hasn't decided to keep the hand scanners at the self-checkout yet. Sometimes they are out in the open, and other times, I have to find the person working the self-checkout because they are the only ones with a scanner and have to pair it with the station manually,” a second person said of their store.

With around 640 Costco warehouses across the U.S., Costco began rolling out new self-checkout terminals in the early 2020s as part of its efforts to streamline the shopping experience and reduce wait times for members.

U.S. Re-Issues Travel Advisory for Popular Tourist Destination

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:04am

On February 18, the United States reissued a travel advisory for people planning or wanting to visit the Ivory-Coast. According to the U.S. Department of State's official website, the African country is currently at a Level 2, which warns travelers to "exercise increased caution."

The risk indicators listed as the reason for the advisory include unrest, crime, health, terrorism, and piracy. This is not a new advisory, however, but an updated advisory, which stems back to 2024.

As part of its update, the U.S. Department of State clearly warns travelers hoping to enjoy a trip to the region. "Do not travel to the northern border region of Côte d’Ivoire for any reason," the advisory reads.

"The main terrorist threat to Côte d’Ivoire is from a group called Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM). JNIM is linked to al-Qa’ida and mostly operates in the Sahel region, including Burkina Faso and Mali. In the past, JNIM has crossed the border from Burkina Faso to conduct attacks in northern Côte d’Ivoire. Attacks have occurred in the Savanes and Zanzan Districts, including Comoé National Park. These attacks have mainly targeted Ivoirian security forces, and sometimes civilians," it continues.

In addition to exercising caution when traveling to the Ivory Coast, the U.S. included a list of things to do before heading to the region. Some of these things include having an emergency plan to leave the country, telling a relative or close friend about travel plans, and not displaying "signs of wealth," such as wearing a pricey watch or expensive jewelry.

The Ivory-Coast has become an emerging travel destination in recent years. The country's historic town of Grand-Bassam is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Other attractions include the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro. Additionally, the country is also known for its beautiful beaches.

‘Gilmore Girls’ Star Says Fans ‘Hated’ Her When the Show First Aired

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 10:03am

While actress Arielle Kebbel only appeared in a handful of Gilmore Girls episodes, her character made quite the impact on the show.

During a February 2026 interview withUs Weekly, alongside her I Can Only Imagine 2 and Gilmore Girls co-star, Milo Ventimiglia, Kebbel noted that she played Dean Forester's(Jared Padalecki) wife, Lindsay.

According to Kebbel, who began filming for the show during its third season, Gilmore Girls viewers weren't fond of her character when the show originally aired, presumably because Dean was Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) first boyfriend. Kebbel clarified that newer fans of the series, which originally ran from 2000 to 2007, view Lindsay in a kinder light.

"People hated me. It’s only recently that people have said, 'Justice for Lindsay,' and I’m like, 'Yes!'" said Kebbel during the Us Weekly interview.

Kebbel also said that a Gilmore Girls fan told her she hated her while she was "at a Coffee Bean."

Ventimiglia, who played Rory's complicated love interest Jess Mariano, shared he had a similar interaction with a Gilmore Girls enthusiast while "at an LA Fitness."

"The only time in my career I’ve ever had somebody walk up and say, 'Hey, are you that guy from Gilmore Girls?' And I’m like, 'Oh, yeah.' And she goes, 'Oh my god, I hate you,'" said Ventimiglia.

The This Is Us star clarified that he didn't mind the comment.

"And I’m like, 'Oh, thanks.' And then I walked away going, 'I did my job.' Because that’s Jess," said the actor during the Us Weekly interview.

Jared Padalecki Spoke About Dean's Decision to Cheat on Lindsay in a 2016 Interview

Dean and Lindsay's marriage ended after he had an affair with Rory during the show's 4th season.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Padalecki, who appeared on the show's first five seasons, shared his thoughts about Dean being unfaithful in his marriage. He referenced that Dean still had feelings for Rory when he walked down the aisle.

“I knew that the entire marriage to Lindsay was a cry for help and not a union for a lifetime. He’s in love with somebody who he thinks he doesn’t deserve so he’s found somebody else and convinced himself he can be happy with that person," said Padalecki to the publication.

Padalecki reprised Dean for the 2016 Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which consisted of four episodes.

‘Sopranos’ Star Drea de Matteo Has Barely Changed 19 Years After the Show Ended

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 9:59am

Drea De Matteo skyrocketed to stardom as Adriana La Cerva on the groundbreaking HBO series The Sopranos, and she hasn't changed a bit since the show ended 19 years ago.

De Matteo, 54, played Adriana, the fiancée of Tony Soprano's nephew, Christopher Moltisanti, on the iconic series, which ran from 1999 to 2007 and earned endless acclaim for its depiction of a New Jersey mob boss, played by the legendary James Gandolfini, struggling with his mental health. With her sharp nails, impeccable makeup, and barrel curls, De Matteo looked every bit the part of the mafia girlfriend on the series. However, it was her wise attitude and knowledge about the organized crime world that made it clear she had staying power throughout most the show's run.

These days, one look at De Matteo makes it clear that she's barely changed a bit in the almost two decades since the show ended. In a new post on her Instagram page, the beauty showed off the same glam looks that made her famous back in the late '90s.

De Matteo Never Planned on Being a Career Actress

Earlier this month, De Matteo opened up in a new interview about how the acting life isn't really for her. Instead, it was really just a way to make a living. Her passion lies elsewhere, and she recently launched THE ULTRAFREE PODCAST.

"It never interested me," she told Fox News Digital. "After The Sopranos, I really had no interest in doing it anymore. I did it to pay bills when I needed to. I would take jobs when it was absolutely necessary. But to just continue being in that hamster wheel of Hollywood, I just didn't have an interest in it."

However, things went downhill when the pandemic hit, and her house went into foreclosure. That's when she decided to join OnlyFans to make ends meet.

"The breaking point was when I had to join OnlyFans to save my home," De Matteo continued. "We were in foreclosure over the mandates. Not even over the mandate. They [the California government], this whole thing that was set up, forbearances, 'Take a forbearance, take a longer forbearance, do this, do that. We got you covered. We're going to take care of everybody.' And then nobody was taken care of. And then letters were coming to the door."

Original 'Star Trek' Star, 88, Feels New Klingon Character Is ‘Meaningful’ Amid Backlash

Sat, 02/21/2026 - 9:50am

While some Star Trek viewers have had negative responses to actor Karim Diané's Star Trek: Starfleet Academy character, Jay-Den Kraag, George Takeiis a fan.

In a February 19 Instagram video, Diané noted that Jay-Den, a Starfleet cadet, is the first openly gay Klingon in Star Trek history. He said that he has been met with both backlash and praise because of Jay-Den's sexuality.

"I knew that I was going to receive a lot of negative comments that were rooted in homophobia and racism and bigotry. But what ya'll have to understand, I have recieved ten times more messages from LGBTQ people around the world, telling me how much this character Jay-Den means to them. And that is all that matters to me," said Diané in the video.

Diané then shared that he ran into George, who played Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek: The OriginalSeries, which ran from 1966 to 1969, and his husband, Brad, at a Broadway show. Diané said that he introduced himself to George and Brad and shared information about his Star Trek: Starfleet Academy character. Diané said that after he exchanged contact information, he received an email from Brad. The 23-year-old let his fans know that he was given permission to share the message on social media.

In Brad's email, he said that George was pleased that Star Trek: Starfleet Academy had an openly gay Klingon character.

"For decades, he lived in quiet fear that being openly gay would mean the end of his acting career. It wasn't until 2005, at the age of 68, that he publicly embraced his truth. And with that his career took on a new life -- suddenly, he was cast in roles as 'Gay George Takei,'" read a portion of the email. "That's why seeing you step into a queer role -- especially in Star Trek, a franchise George holds so dear -- is so meaningful to us."

Brad also wrote that George had spoken to the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry, during the show's original run about showcasing LGBTQ+ couples. According to Brad, "Roddenberry feared that tackling same-sex love themes might result in outright cancellation," after the historic kiss between Captain James Kirk (William Shatner) and Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) during season 3 "led to blacklisting in several Southern states."

"How extraordinary that we have now arrived at this moment where characters like yours exist in Star Trek Starfleet Academy -- something George always hoped for," continued Brad in the email.
