What Were the Challenges on 'Top Chef' Season 23 Episode 10?

The Quickfire Challenge this week was the iconic mise en place race. The first part was a team event (first team to 3 wins would win) where the winning team's members got the chance to cook for the individual win. Laurence, as the winner of last week's elimination challenge, got a fast-pass to the individual portion. The teams were:

Team Blue: Sherry, Jonathan and Anthony
Team Red: Sieger, Duyen and Rhoda

The rounds were:

  1. Seed and peel a pint of Scuppernong grapes (the state fruit of North Carolina. The teams put up Jonathan vs Sieger, with Jonathan winning, though Sieger could've called check and possibly been ruled that he had completed a full pint and he didn't.
  2. Peel and de-vein 12 shrimp. The teams put up Duyen vs Sherry, with Duyen winning, so the teams were tied 1-1.
  3. Crack and pick an ounce of pecans. The teams put up Jonathan vs Sieger again, with Sieger winning, though Jonathan could have called check and wasn't paying attention to the scale.
  4. Shuck and kernel five ears of corn. The teams put up Anthony vs Rhoda, with Rhoda winning, which means the team race is over.

The individual challenge was that they could cook any dish they wanted, but it had to feature the four items they just worked with (grapes, shrimp, pecans and corn) and they only had 20 minutes. The favorite dishes were Duyen's soup and Rhoda's salad, with the winner declared Rhoda for her first Quickfire win and $10,000.

The Elimination Challenge tasked the chefs with having a fishing derby since Green Pond landing is the site of the annual Bassmaster Classic. They got 60 minutes to catch fish, with advantages being awarded for smallest fish, largest fish and total caught. They also were given a few fish from professional anglers so that they would have fish to prepare for the challenge in case they came up completely empty during their fishing derby.

The advantages went to:

  • Smallest fish: Duyen, who earned an extra $5 for shopping
  • Most caught: Duyen, who earned an extra $50 for shopping
  • Largest fish: Jonathan, who earned 30 extra minutes of cook time

The chefs who didn't catch any fish got three spotted bass from their professional anglers. And Duyen had so much extra money that she actually purchased a few ingredients for her competitors with the money she didn't need.

The top dishes went to Rhoda, Anthony, Jonathan and Laurence, with the winning dish going to Laurence (AGAIN) for his Cantonese steamed fish with ginger, scallions, fried leeks, rice and bok choy.

The bottom dishes were from Duyen and Sieger, with Duyen being sent home for her severely undercooked fish. She prepared "Canh Chua," which is a Vietnamese hot and sour soup with fish, pineapple, tomatoes and bok choy.

It's a bit shocking to see her go, she's been such a strong competitor. I'm super bummed that she's out of the competition, I really like Duyen.

Next week: It's Swamp Rabbit Trail time and Sherry and Tom Colicchio might be butting heads.

Top Chef airs Monday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

1966 Pop Hit That Topped the Charts for Seven Weeks Was First Written With a Country Music Legend in Mind

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 9:26pm

One of the catchiest pop hits of the 1960s wasn't originally meant for the made-for-TV band that turned it into a No. 1 smash. Neil Diamond wrote "I'm a Believer" while working at music publisher Sunbeam Music in 1966 and first envisioned country star Eddy Arnold recording it.

Neil Diamond's Country Vision

In 1966, Diamond was a working New York songwriter on the verge of his own solo breakthrough. His single "Cherry, Cherry" reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 1966, introducing him to a wider audience as a performer. Around that time, he wrote "I'm a Believer" with Eddy Arnold, the country crooner behind hits like "Make the World Go Away," in mind.

From Sunbeam Music to The Monkees

Don Kirshner, the music supervisor for the made-for-TV band The Monkees, had a different plan. He brought the song to the group, who recorded it with producer Jeff Barry and Micky Dolenz on lead vocals. The made-for-TV pop band, formed for the NBC sitcom that premiered in September 1966, was already a chart force by the time the single dropped.

A Seven-Week No. 1 Run

Released in November 1966, "I'm a Believer" was certified platinum within two days and racked up more than 1 million advance orders. The single topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending Dec. 31, 1966, and stayed at No. 1 for seven weeks. It went on to become the biggest-selling single of 1967, eventually moving more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Diamond released his own version on his 1967 album Just for You, the same year The Monkees' recording finished its run atop the chart. The song has since been covered by acts across genres and reentered the Top 10 decades later through a famous animated-film cover.

1992 Top-Ranked Video Game's Realistic Graphics Sparked Political Debate

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 9:22pm

Video games these are realistic beyond our wildest dreams — although fans have been saying that about next-gen releases for decades.

Take Mortal Kombat, for example. When the original installment was released in 1992, gamers far and wide praised the fighting game for its incredible realistic depictions of violence and fatalities.

The launch of Mortal Kombat for home consoles by Acclaim Entertainment was one of the largest video-game launches of all time. All four home versions — SNES, Genesis, Game Boy and Game Gear — were released on September 13, 1993, otherwise known as "Mortal Monday."

View this post on Instagram

In fact, the ultimately controversial release ultimately caught the eye of U.S. politicians. According to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Senator Joe Lieberman put together a case presented to the media in 1993 arguing that the lack of regulation of the video game industry — particularly how easy it was for children to access violent video games like Mortal Kombat — opened the door for dire consequences in child development.

The result of the new-found media attention surrounding video games was the implementation of the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) in 1994. As gamers might well known, it was designed to not only rate video games from “Early Childhood” and “Everyone” to “Mature” and “Adults Only 18+," but also provide advertising guidelines for how particular games should be marketed through media channels.

More than 30 years later, the live-action Mortal Kombat film franchise is still going strong, with the sequel currently competing with another follow-up — The Devil Wears Prada 2 — at the box office. While the Meryl Streep starrer still led the charge this past weekend with $43 million, Mortal Kombat II launched impressively with $40 million, Variety reports. The R-rated fighting movie has a 65% average critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes average and “B” grade on CinemaScore exit polls.

1978 One-Hit Wonder Ranked as Having the 'Best Opening Line in a Song' Was Written in 15 Minutes

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 9:20pm

Years after his death, Warren Zevon was described by Bob Dylan as a "musician's musician" (and a "tortured" one at that). Dylan's admiration for Zevon is so great that he's even covered some of the late Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's songs live, including ”Accidentally Like a Martyr," "Lawyers, Guns and Money" and "Mutineer" — but he apparently never performed his own version of Zevon's biggest hit of all time, "Werewolves of London."

Interestingly enough, Zevon himself was surprised when "Werewolves of London" was a huge success. As George Plasketes wrote in Warren Zevon: Desperado of Los Angeles, the song started out as a joke: After watching the 1935 movie Werewolf of London on late-night TV, Phil Everly suggested Zevon write a song inspired by the film. Zevon took the idea to LeRoy Marinell and Waddy Wachtel, both members of his band, and the trio wrote "Werewolves of London" together in a 15-minute session.

Zevon, who later called the track a "dumb song for smart people," didn't want "Werewolves of London" released as the debut single from his 1978 album, Excitable Boy, but the record label insisted...and the decision paid off.

"Werewolves of London" (which happens to feature Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood and John McVie on drums and bass, respectively) became Zevon's only top 40 hit, peaking at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2004, BBC Radio 2 listeners ranked the track as having the "best opening song line" of all time:

"I saw werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand / Walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain / He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fooks / For to get a big dish of beef chow mein"

Warren Zevon thought of 'Werewolves of London' as a sort of 'novelty' song

Years later, Zevon called "Werewolves of London" a novelty song, but "not a novelty the way, say, Steve Martin's 'King Tut' is a novelty."

He also took issue with the public perception that "Werewolves of London" was massively successful, saying, "I don’t think it was as big a hit as people think it was."

"People remember it from year to year more — it’s been in movies and it gets trotted out regularly — but it’s not as if it sold four million copies, like a Paula Abdul single, you know what I mean?" Zevon quipped.

It might not be "Opposites Attract," but "Werewolves of London" is definitely one of the funniest and most beloved songs in rock history.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Brian Entin Addresses 'Twist' in Case

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 9:17pm

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing for 100 days—and reporter Brian Entin just addressed a "twist" in the investigation.

On Monday, May 11, the NewsNation senior national correspondent shared the latest on Nancy's case on Brian Entin Investigates, in an episode titled, "Another twist in Nancy Guthrie investigation—are they really getting closer? Day 100."

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Entin referenced a recent video published by Fox News Digital, during which a reporter asked Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos for an update on the 84-year-old's case outside the sheriff's department.

He recounted, "They asked, 'Are you any closer to solving the case?' and it was kind of like an awkward moment, an awkward exchange, but he responded, 'We are.' And then he got into his Corvette, and he drove off."

Entin then revealed, "I thought that was interesting because my sources close to the investigation, sadly, have been telling me that they are not much closer in terms of solving the case."

Additionally, he pointed out, "Now, that doesn't mean they're not doing a ton of work behind the scenes, I mean, just like working all day, every day, tracking down every possible tip. But I don't get the sense that, from my sources, that they're getting much closer."

Related: Today Co-Anchor Savannah Guthrie to Host New Show

To conclude his thoughts on the topic, Entin acknowledged, "Again, there are still tips coming in every day. There were thousands and thousands of tips initially, and more tips that come in. And it's not a cold case, but it's just interesting that the sheriff said that they're getting closer. That's not exactly what I'm hearing."

He added, "Hopefully, that changes. I mean, it can literally change in a second. DNA evidence, a hot tip could come in—it could change all of that."

Later in the episode, Entin also addressed the Pima County Supervisors Board's push to remove Nanos from office.

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of Jan. 31, with her family reporting her missing on Feb. 1. Since then, the FBI released video and still images of a masked man on Nancy’s front porch, and Savannah offered a $1 million reward. No suspect has been named, as of writing.

If you're trying to build a garden while working with a small patio, balcony, or yard, the challenge is often figuring out how to make everything fit. Herbs by the kitchen door, flowers along a fence, or even a few homegrown vegetables are all possible, as long as your setup is designed to make the most of what you've got.

That’s where vertical gardening comes in. By helping plants to grow upward instead of outward, tiered planters make it easier to get more out of every square inch. For gardeners working with compact spaces, the Costway 3-Tier Raised Garden Bed is currently on sale at Walmart for $85, down from $149.

The standout feature is its staggered three-tier layout, designed to maximize sunlight for every level. Each 43-inch planter box has a 33-pound capacity, giving you plenty of room for kitchen herbs, leafy greens, colorful flowers, or compact vegetables like lettuce and radishes.

Each planter box also includes a leak-resistant liner, which helps with drainage while protecting the wood from excess moisture over time. There’s also a built-in rear storage shelf that holds up to 22 pounds, giving you an easy spot to keep everyday gardening essentials nearby while you work.

Walmart shoppers have given this planter strong reviews. One called it “perfect for flowers” and said it’s also suitable for lettuce, spinach, and herbs. Others pointed to the “sturdy” build quality as a standout feature. One shopper wrote, “Definitely nice quality wood. Smells of fresh cedar.”

Booktok Darling’s Romantasy TV Series Adaptation Is Officially Moving Forward — And It’s Found Its Streaming Home

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:55pm

It was just earlier this month when Rebecca Yarros delivered some exciting news about her Fourth Wing adaptation. The script looked great, and she was excited to see how that would develop into a TV series. For many, the biggest question was whether the adaptation would find a home.

With Michael B. Jordan and Amazon MGM Studios behind the adaptation, it was always expected to head to Prime Video. However, we were just waiting for confirmation, and that came during the Amazon Upfronts.

Prime Video Orders ‘Fourth Wing’ by Rebecca Yarros to Series

The Amazon streamer, which is the home of other major fantasy adaptations such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and the unfairly canceled The Wheel of Time, shared the update that Fourth Wing is officially picked up to series. It’s just the next stage in the adaptation process, and while plans can fall through at this point, they’re less likely to.

Not only did Jordan announce that Amazon had picked up the series, he also introduced his fellow executive producer, Lisa Joy, who will direct the first episode. Meredith Averill will be the showrunner on the series.

When speaking about Fourth Wing, Deadlinereports that Averill shared that, “Rebecca’s books have become one of the fastest-selling franchises of the 21st century, with a fandom so passionate, so devoted, they don’t just read these books, they live in them, and it’s because Fourth Wing is everything at once.”

She continued with, “The emotional stakes are sky high, the battles are epic, power dynamics are thrilling, and underneath it is so much humor and heart and a romance that will consume you.”

Adapting the Entire ‘Empyrean’ Book Series

The plan is to adapt the entire Empyrean series, which currently has three books published. While fans had hoped that the fourth book would be released in September 2026, Yarros has made it clear that it won’t happen.

She wrote for 12 to 15 hours a day on the third book, Onyx Storm, and that led to her missing out on a lot of other parts of her life. To allow for that, it means reducing her writing time to just eight hours a day.

She has also been working on another novel, Peculiar Stars, which is set in another universe compared to the Empyrean series. Yarros has described her new book, which will release on November 17, 2026, as a “castaway romance.” It follows Callista, a woman who ends up stranded on a deserted island with her cousin’s fiance for more than 500 days.

The delay for the book could be a good thing, as it will allow Jordan and his team time to craft the TV show in full. Each season — should it get renewed — will follow each subsequent book, meaning the second season will follow Iron Flame.

There is no word on when the Fourth Wing TV series will be ready. The scripts are being written, but casting needs to happen.

’70s Rock Band, With No. 1 Hit, Ranked Among 'Best Supergroups' of All Time

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:52pm

More than five decades after dominating the airwaves, legendary rock band Bad Company continues to earn recognition as one of the greatest supergroups of all time.

Long before modern megabands such as Audioslave, The Winery Dogs and others, the English rock band, formed in the early 1970s, consisted of an “all-star team” of members with the original lineup consisting of Paul Rodgers on lead vocals, keyboards and rhythm guitar, Mick Ralphs on lead guitar, Simon Kirke on drums and Boz Burrell on bass guitar.

Despite being members of other successful British bands such as Free, Mott the Hoople and King Crimson, the quartet joined forces as they carved out a lasting legacy in the music scene.

Years later, Bad Company still holds a lasting influence, earning a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the “10 Best Supergroups.”

The rankings were based on readers’ votes, with fans selecting their top supergroups of all time.

Landing in the top 5 were Traveling Wilburys, Cream, Temple of the Dog, Them Crooked Vultures and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

As for Bad Company, the quartet secured the 10th spot.

Known for defining the 1970s sound with a "stripped-down" style of music, the band stood out with its unique blend of hard rock, blues and soul.

Throughout its successful music career, Bad Company released notable signature songs such as "Feel Like Makin' Love," "Can't Get Enough,” which was their biggest international hit, "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" and the title track "Bad Company.”

Although the supergroup had a string of hit singles to its name, Bad Company never landed a No. 1 song on the Billboard charts.

However, they still proved to be a commercial powerhouse by reaching No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with their self-titled album in September 1974.

Bad Company Vocalist Reveals Challenging Part of Writing Journey

Creating such iconic hit songs was never truly a walk in the park, as Rodgers shared in an interview with Uncut in 2016.

“It’s hard to sit down and write a song specifically to translate into large stadiums,” the frontman admitted. “Sometimes it just happens.”

As for Ralphs, he reflected on the group’s early years in the music industry, noting that their sudden rise to stardom felt both exciting and overwhelming.

“The first few years were amazing, because we had a lot of quite sudden success,” the lead guitarist shared, adding, “But it’s only in later years, when you look back and reflect on it, that you realise what a nice time it was, because it was all happening so fast. We all did everything together, we lived together and played together, worked together, hung out together, as bands should do.”

Following their legacy in music, Bad Company was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.

The supergroup was inducted by Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood, who described Rodgers as the "north star" for rock vocalists.

I Tried Summer Fridays' Best-Selling Beauty Products for 30 Days—Here Are the 4 Favorites I'd Buy Again

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:32pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

When Summer Fridays first entered the beauty scene in 2018, I remember thinking, "Wow, what a great brand name." Those two simple words represent such a visceral feeling of freedom, sunshine, possibility and excitement. But does the brilliant marketing hold up to its promise?

The brand was founded by two influencers, Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Ireland from Southern California, who wanted to create clean and sustainable beauty. The products are cruelty-free, vegan and formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates. The packaging aims to be sustainable, using recycled plastic, aluminum and glass where possible, and you can recycle your empties by sending them back to the company in exchange for a gift card towards their products.

Over the past eight years, Summer Fridays has grown significantly. They now have over 20 makeup and skincare products, ranging from retinol night cream to fun lip balms. As Parade's Beauty Editor, I decided to put some of their best-sellers and new launches to the test to see what is truly innovative, effective and worth buying.

How I Tested Summer Fridays Beauty

After getting 11 Summer Fridays products, I tried the popular makeup and skincare for a month so I could spotlight the true standouts. I was searching for feel-good, but effective formulas that you want to use daily and are worthy of their viral, cult-favorite status.

These are the products I tested:

4 Best Summer Fridays Products Worth Every Penny1. Light Aura Vitamin C + Peptide Eye Cream, $44

Sheila Baylis

An eye cream with vitamin C is such a good idea (especially for those of us with darkness under the eyes) since it's one of the top brightening ingredients. And yet, it's not a common element in everyday eye creams.

Eye creams that do have vitamin C are typically more expensive than this one (some of them much more), and though it's mid-priced it has a lovely look and feel that makes me want to put it on each morning. I've encountered several vitamin C products that cause a stinging sensation, but this one has no sting and feels hydrating.

I would recommend using this product in the morning only if you put on retinol at night, since mixing the two can cause irritation and increase sun sensitivity.

I've noticed the skin under my eyes feels softer and more hydrated, but I haven't noticed a lightening of the dark shadows just yet. (They are very stubborn.) I feel like an eye cream with vitamin C is such a good match for me, I plan to keep using it and restock to see if my dark circles ease up. For now, I'm using a good neutralizer and concealer to cover them.

2. CC Me Serum with Vitamin C + Niacinamide, $68

Sheila Baylis

Shop It at Summer Fridays

I usually have to force myself to put on vitamin C serum in the morning, which I feel I have to do since every dermatologist I've ever interviewed recommends it as part of an anti-aging morning routine, but applying this one is a pleasure.

A lot of vitamin C serums are very runny, which is some people's preference, but if you like something a bit thicker, this could be the serum for you. I loved the slightly heavier texture along with the light, fresh scent. I also enjoy the bright and happy packaging that truly emanates Summer Friday vibes.

I noticed a slight, not significant improvement in my skin tone, but experts have told me a month usually isn't long enough to have a big transformation with any active ingredient. Since I like the product so much, I don't think it will be a problem to keep up the routine.

3. Dream Lip Oil, $26

Sheila Baylis

Shop It at Summer Fridays

I know everyone on social media is crazy about the Lip Butter Balm, but I actually preferred the lip oil. Again, it's probably a personal preference as far as texture, but I like oils for hydration, and this one includes a combination of nine plant-based oils along with vitamin E.

It's also very shiny but not sticky, which is a hard-to-find combination, and the shades are beautiful. I'm a big fan of using it with my next pick, and the two together are my current go-to lip combination.

4. Flushed Lip Stain, $22

Sheila Baylis

Shop It on Summer Fridays

I love that this lip stain is in pen format, so it's basically a marker for your lips. It's so fun to use and and very-long wearing—it lasted all day for me through eating and drinking— I want one in every shade. The downside is you need to work quickly and get it right on the first try if you don't want to cleanse and start over, because once it's on, it's on.

It's a great choice if you want a fuller lip that won't feather or bleed. Use it on bare lips to get the full-stain effect and then you can layer on other lip products. I use it lightly and just where I want to add fullness. I am turning 50 next month, so it's not a good idea for me to line my lips all the way around. It makes me very frowny. So I just used it at the cupid's bow and on the center of the bottom lip, and then applied the lip oil over the lips on top. This is a natural look, but you could definitely go full-glam by lining the whole lip (if that works on you!) and even filling it in and then putting a lipstick and then a gloss on top.

The website provides a smart reminder to store the pencil tip-side down with the cap tightly closed. It really is like an art marker, so doing this will keep color in the tip and prevent it from getting dry.

Final Thoughts on Summer Fridays

You really can't go wrong with Summer Fridays. Many of the products I tried were excellent, but the market is so saturated with beautiful products, especially moisturizers and retinol night creams, so it's rare to find a true standout.

The Jet Lag Mask and Lip Butter Balm are fan favorites for a reason—they are good products and the lip balm flavors are fun and collectable. I also really liked the Gentle Reset Exfoliating Pads and would consider buying them again if they weren't individually wrapped. Although great for travel, it's a lot of packaging for 30 pads, even though they are using more sustainable materials.

I think it's fair to say the brand lives up to it's carefree California-girl marketing, and the price point is good for the high quality you're getting. I hope to see more great launches from them in the future.

1977 Power Pop Classic Was a Total Flop—Then It Became a Top 10 Hit

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 8:00pm

In some cases, live performances of songs never quite live up to the original, studio-recorded release. But in others, the true power of a song is only fully realized when it's being played live onstage...in front of thousands of screaming fans.

Perhaps one of the most famous examples of this particular phenomenon (if not the most famous) is Cheap Trick's signature song, the classic "I Want You to Want Me." Originally released as the first single from Cheap Trick's second album, In Color (1977), the studio version didn't even make the charts.

But when a second take on the song from the band's smash live album Cheap Trick at Budokan was released in 1979, it absolutely exploded, peaking at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (and hitting #1 in Japan, where it was recorded). What changed? Well, anybody who's listened to both renditions can tell you immediately: The live version rocks, the studio recording...not so much.

As Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson told Classic Rock years later, guitarist Rick Nielsen drew from pop and disco hits when he was writing "I Want You to Want Me."

“My recollection is that he just did that song as a bit of a joke, because at the time when we had done that song there was a lot of pop music on the radio — ABBA, and all sorts of things, disco,” Petersson explained.

"He thought: ‘I’m just going to do an over-the-top pop song. I just want to do one that’s so silly — total pop — and then we’ll do a heavy version of it,'" he continued. "He didn’t know what was going to happen with it. The idea was to have it like a heavy metal pop song. Cheap Trick doing ABBA — except a very heavy version.”

Cheap Trick wasn't happy with the original production on 'I Want You to Want Me'

Unfortunately, the studio version of "I Want You to Want Me" "was not produced in the way we would have done it.” Petersson said. “And we’ve never done it since like that anyway — with a little ‘Shakey’s Pizza Parlour piano’ and twinky little sounds. It was like, ‘Ugh!’.”

While the crowd can clearly be heard going wild in the live version of "I Want You to Want Me," Petersson says the song wasn't more popular than any of the others they played during that legendary concert at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.

Cheap Trick

Photo by Koh Hasebe/Shinko Music on Getty Images

“That in particular was no more of a hit than anything else," he recalled. "We had, for some reason, had several hit singles over there, so they were just going bonkers no matter what we did. It wasn’t that they were sitting there politely applauding, and then all of a sudden 'I Want You To Want Me' came on and they went wild, they were going wild no matter what.”

So it was a "surprise" for Cheap Trick when the song became their biggest hit up to that point, but a welcome one. And decades later, they still aren't tired of playing it live, according to Nielsen.

“We play to a different audience every night, so it’s not like you’re playing it to somebody who’s heard it every night like we have," he said. "It makes people clap, smile and have fun. Gee, if we were certain bands we wouldn’t do it. But we’re Cheap Trick — it’s good to get applause.”

Barbie Pascual Ignites Jealousy and Crew Chaos Moments After Joining 'Below Deck Down Under'

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:59pm

Below Deckstew Barbie Pascual is back — and despite insisting she wasn’t there to stir the Below Deck Down Under pot, she wasted no time whipping up chaos within hours of stepping aboard.

Though relieved to have a quick replacement for deck/stew Mike Durrant, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher immediately knew she needed to proceed with caution after learning Barbie was friends with galley hand Elena “Ellie” Dubaich. Ellie had already been pushing Daisy’s buttons, with Daisy admitting Ellie’s insubordination could ultimately get her fired.

Barbie previously appeared on Below Deck Season 11, so Daisy reached out to close friend Chief Stew Fraser Olender for insight. According to Daisy, Fraser confirmed her biggest fears. “Not my favorite employee,” he texted back. “She’s stubborn. Good worker though.”

And Fraser’s assessment quickly proved accurate. After hearing Ellie was clashing with the crew, Barbie immediately slipped into ride-or-die mode — starting with second stew Jenna Woudberg. Barbie quickly became convinced Jenna disliked her from the second she arrived on board the boat.

“Massive resting bitch face,” Barbie quipped in a confessional. “Girl hates me.”

When Jenna and Barbie finally had a moment alone together, Jenna immediately staked her claim on some of the men aboard the boat — namely Chef Ben Robinson and deckhand Eddy Hounsell.

View this post on Instagram

That instantly made Jenna Barbie’s first target.

While getting ready for a crew night out, Barbie told Ellie that Jenna “gave me a weird look when I first got on here,” adding that Jenna also made a face when she hugged Ellie. As Ellie and Barbie gossiped about the crew, Barbie admitted she liked the way Eddy “says my name, he has a very nice accent.”

In a confessional, Barbie said, “Jenna is not a humble person. And its not actually all about you. I will respect her as my superior, but maybe I'll just flirt with Eddy and piss her off.”

She later told Ellie, “I'm going to hook up with everyone!”

That likely won’t end well for Jenna, who admitted in a confessional that she’s “an extremely jealous person” who has “problems.”

After initially giving Eddy the cold shoulder in favor of Ben, Jenna circled back to flirting with Eddy while Barbie ended up in the galley drinking and flirting with Ben. Flirting with both crew members quickly came back to haunt Jenna after Ben and Eddy compared notes, with Ben feeling like he’d been “played.”

At dinner, Barbie cozied up next to Eddy while Jenna struggled to hide the annoyed look on her face.

“Is it just me or is there a lot of tension at this table?” Barbie asked Ben as she sat between him and Eddy.

“Jenna is quite obviously threatened by Barbie,” Daisy observed in a confessional. “Feel it but don't let everyone know you feel it.”

Eddy, meanwhile, said in a confessional that he could practically see the “steam coming out of Jenna's ears,” adding, “I don't really care.”

Ben was also fed up with Jenna’s behavior.

“I like Jenna but what kind of person are you?” he asked, concluding that she needs “attention from at least two guys at the same time.”

He later pulled Jenna aside and suggested they “cool” their relationship because “it's too much drama.” Ben then revealed that Eddy had shared Jenna’s text messages with him. Although Jenna attempted to explain herself, Ben first tried to friend-zone her, and then ultimately walked away from the conversation.

Meanwhile, Barbie continued bonding with Eddy, telling him he could “do a thousand times better” than Jenna.

Below Deck Down Under is on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Nordstrom Rack Has 'Very Comfortable' $40 Clarks Sandals That 'Go With Everything'

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:45pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If your footwear collection could use a refresh, this is your reminder that the sandals you reach for most shouldn’t require a backup pair in the car. They also shouldn’t cost a fortune, which makes the Clarks Arla Stroll Sandals worth a look right now. They’re on sale at Nordstrom Rack for just $40, down from $70, and come in a pretty blue combination color in sizes 6 to 11.

They feature a lightweight double-strap design, contoured cushioning, and an adjustable back strap for a secure fit. They’re also made with a textile upper, synthetic lining, and synthetic sole. The blue combi color is a little softer than black or brown, but it’s still easy to wear with denim, white pants, and other summer basics.

These work well for days when flip-flops are too casual but dressier sandals aren’t quite the vibe either. The double straps give them a more put-together look, while the adjustable back strap helps keep them from sliding around on errand runs, travel days, or warm-weather plans that involve more walking.

One reviewer described them as “cute and comfy,” noting that the sandals “go with everything” and are “well made” and “very comfortable." They added, "The band across the toes actually stretches, so no pinching!” Other shoppers also rated the sandals five out of five stars.

The blue combi color would work with denim shorts, white jeans, casual dresses, and wide-leg linen pants. You could wear them with a tank and shorts during the day, then keep them on with a breezy dress or button-down for dinner. And if your summer closet has a lot of navy, white, beige, chambray, or lighter colors, these should be a breeze to wear often.

1956 Ballad That Won the Oscar for 'Best Original Song' 70 Years Ago Was Recorded in One Take

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:34pm

Even though it's been 70 years since it first came out, most people are familiar with Doris Day's signature song, "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)." But music lovers who don't know the tune's history might be surprised to learn that the breezy, cheerful track was originally on the soundtrack for a suspenseful thriller...and it even won an Academy Award.

Penned by successful songwriting partners Ray Evans and Jay Livingston, Day sang "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" in Alfred Hitchcock's 1956 remake of his 1934 film The Man Who Knew Too Much. The song serves a crucial purpose in the movie: Day plays a retired singer who gets mixed up in an assassination plot along with her husband (James Stewart) and little boy; at one point, Day uses the song to rescue her son from an attempted kidnapping.

As Livingston explained years later, Hitchcock gave him a set of very specific parameters to work with.

"We got a call from Alfred Hitchcock," Livingston told Paul Zollo in an interview featured in the book Songwriters on Songwriting.

"And he told us that he had Doris Day in his picture, whom he didn't want," Livingston continued. "But MCA, the agency, was so powerful that they said if he wanted Jimmy Stewart he would also have to take Doris Day and Livingston and Evans. It was the only time an agent got us a job that I can remember. Hitchcock said that since Doris Day was a singer, they needed a song for her. He said, 'I can tell you what it should be about. She sings it to a boy. It should have a foreign title because Jimmy Stewart is a roving ambassador and he goes all over the world.'"

"Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" was a major success both commercially and critically. Not only did it win the Oscar for Best Original Song, but it also peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

Doris Day didn't originally want to record 'Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)'

Even though it would go on to become her signature song, Day didn't even want to record "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" in the first place, according to Livingston, because she thought it sounded too much like a children's tune.

"She didn't want to record it but the studio pressured her," Livingston said. "She did it in one take and said, 'That's the last you're going to hear of this song.'"

Day couldn't have been more wrong about that one. Not only did she sing the song again in the movie Please Don't Eat the Daisies, but she even used it as a theme song for her sitcomThe Doris Day Show.

'Sex and the City': An Anthony 'Politically Incorrect' Line Wasn't Planned

Mon, 05/11/2026 - 7:22pm

Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone) often surprised Sex and the City fans with his blunt lines. The character didn't fear hurting any of his friends' feelings. Cantone, 66, revealed one of his lines in the first movie wasn't planned, but was given to him because no one else could say it.

Anthony's Line About Samantha's Gut in 'Sex and the City' Wasn't Scripted

Cantone appeared on Still Here Hollywood With Steve Kmetko to talk about his career. He revealed the one Anthony line that was unexpected.

"When Samantha goes back and she's gained weight, she comes through the door and I'm like, 'What's with the gut? Forget about the puppy, what's with the gut?'" Cantone said.

Samantha (Kim Cattrall) gained weight after her breakup with Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis). Her friends were shocked when they saw her for the first time in a crop top.

Related: Sex and the City’s Mr. Big Was Almost Played by This Controversial Comedy Actor

"[Michael Patrick King] gave me that line on the spot because he's like, 'I'm the only one that can get away with it,'" the actor continued. "And even when And Just Like That... came along I was like, 'Give me everything that's politically incorrect.'"

The writers tried to balance out the unfiltered character's lines to avoid him getting "canceled." Cantone was also surprised that Anthony married Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) in the second movie.

Anthony had to move on in And Just Like That... and Cantone assumed he would be hooking up with his Hot Feelas employees. "You don't sh-t where you eat, you've evolved," King told Cantone.

The character got a new boyfriend, Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi). Cantone said he became good friends with Pigazzi while working together. Sadly, the spinoff ended after three seasons.
