’70s Rock Legend, Who Shared a Historic Stage With Paul McCartney, Turns 83

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 4:26am

Roger Waters turns 83 today, and more than five decades after co-founding Pink Floyd, he’s still one of rock’s most towering, and most polarizing, figures.

Waters was born on September 6, 1943, in Surrey, England. Five months later, his father was killed at the Battle of Anzio during World War II, a loss that would go on to shape huge portions of his songwriting, from The Wall to The Final Cut, the latter dedicated entirely to his father’s memory. He co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965 alongside Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright, and after Barrett’s departure due to mental health struggles, Waters gradually took over as the band’s chief lyricist and conceptual driving force.

Under his direction, Pink Floyd released some of the most successful concept albums in music history, including The Dark Side of the Moon in 1973, which has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide and spent an astonishing 14 years on the Billboard 200 chart. The Wall, released in 1979, has sold more than 23 million certified units in the U.S. alone, making it one of the best-selling albums in American history.

Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 following creative disputes with guitarist David Gilmour, and the two have had a famously contentious relationship ever since, occasionally thawing enough for reunions, including their 2005 Live 8 performance in London. Since leaving the band, Waters has built a substantial solo career, releasing albums like Amused to Death and touring extensively, including the record-breaking “The Wall Live” tour, which became the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo artist.

More recently, Waters revisited his most famous work directly, releasing The Dark Side of the Moon Redux in 2023, a full re-recording of the classic album made, in his words, with the perspective only an 80-year-old could bring to it.

1984 Hit, From the English Band’s Debut Album ‘Diamond Life,’ Is Still an Unforgettable Hit 42 Years Later

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 4:13am

The smooth and sophisticated sounds of the four-piece English band Sade helped define the mid-1980s, but the third track from their debut album, Diamond Life, stood out and continues to captivate audiences more than four decades later.

“Smooth Operator” was released in August 1984, introducing listeners and the mainstream to a mesmerizing fusion of jazz, soul, and pop, with Grammy.com noting that the album even laid some of the “groundwork for Neo-Soul.”

The sound set them apart from their contemporaries, with the song quickly gaining momentum and earning global recognition. Additionally, the album became one of the best-selling and most acclaimed of the decade, selling 7 million copies worldwide. Sade even set the record for the best-selling debut album by a British female singer, per the site.

The laid-back tune told the story of a charming two-timer (with the video portraying him as a professional criminal) who traveled the globe and lived a double life, giving the track an almost movie-like quality.

Co-written by lead singer Sade Adu and Ray St. John, the song was written years before it was even heard by the public, when the duo was part of another band called Pride. John was not a member of Sade.

While chart success is the goal for every artist, it doesn’t necessarily equate to staying power.

“Smooth Operator,” with its seductive saxophone and warm, understated vocals, continues to be an unforgettable tune 42 years later, despite never soaring to No. 1.

It did, however, reach the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, peaking at No. 5 in February 1985 and spending a total of 20 weeks there. It also topped the Adult Contemporary chart for two weeks, marking the band’s first major breakthrough in America, while becoming a major international hit, peaking at No. 19 in the U.K.

To this day, “Smooth Operator” remains Sade’s highest-charting and most iconic commercial success, garnering over 400 million Spotify streams and remaining a tour staple.

The World’s First Harry Potter Land With Both Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley Is Officially in the Works

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 4:10am

For more than a decade, visiting the Wizarding World has meant making a deliberate park-hopping choice.

If you want to stroll the cobblestone alleys of Diagon Alley and watch a dragon breathe real fire over Gringotts, you buy a ticket to Universal Studios Florida. If you want to gaze up at the soaring stone turrets of Hogwarts Castle, you head over to Islands of Adventure—or book a flight to Hollywood, Osaka, or Beijing. Even with the Hogwarts Express stitching parks together, theme park fans have never been able to walk through both legendary movie locations within the exact same gates.

Now, that boundary is officially about to disappear.

According to a Forbes report, government construction filings and recent teaser reveals show that Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is constructing a brand-new Harry Potter theme park expansion that will feature full-scale recreations of both Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley, alongside a trek through the Forbidden Forest.

The move will make the Yas Island destination the only theme park in the world to house all of those flagship environments under one climate-controlled roof.

While Universal has long held the exclusive operational reins for Harry Potter theme park lands under a landmark 2007 licensing deal with Warner Bros., this development marks an industry turning point: it will be the seventh theme park worldwide to feature Potter attractions, but the very first outside the Universal network.

Instead, the land is being built directly within Warner Bros. World, which opened on Yas Island in 2018 as the world’s largest indoor theme park at roughly 1.65 million square feet (153,000 square meters).

According to project construction permits reported by Forbes, the ambitious expansion will boost the indoor park’s footprint by approximately 26 percent. In addition to the multi-part Harry Potter development, the broader expansion plans also include a high-speed Superman roller coaster tied to the park’s existing DC Metropolis zone.

What the Experience Looks Like Inside

Beyond the juxtaposition of Hogwarts’ Gothic spires and Diagon Alley’s crooked, Dickensian shopfronts, fans have plenty of new ride engineering to anticipate.

Official teasers and park permits point to at least three new rides and attractions alongside dedicated themed dining and interactive wand-shopping venues.

One of the most heavily anticipated headliners teased by the park centers around Arthur Weasley’s enchanted flying Ford Anglia. While Universal built world-class rides around the Hogwarts Express, broomstick flight, and Hagrid’s motorbike, the reckless flying car sequence from Chamber of Secrets has never had its own signature ride—fueling buzz that guests could soon dodge the Whomping Willow and swoop into the Forbidden Forest themselves.

And because the entire Yas Island park is built indoors and fully air-conditioned, visitors will be able to wander through chilly Scottish castle corridors and shaded London alleys in complete comfort, completely shielded from the desert heat outside.

With the Potter franchise continuously expanding—from billions in global box office receipts to Warner Bros.’ upcoming television reboot for HBO—putting the boy wizard’s most famous stomping grounds side by side proves there is still plenty of new magic left to bring to life on the theme park stage.

Will 'Practical Magic 2' Stream on Netflix? Explaining the Streaming Window

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 4:00am

It’s finally happening. The long-awaited Practical Magic sequel is on its way. Of course, not everyone has the money to head to the theaters right now, so you’ll want to know when and where Practical Magic 2 will stream online.

While Netflix is the most popular streaming service, it’s not the only one. And sadly, the new Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock movie will not head to that streaming platform at first. Practical Magic 2 is a Warner Bros. movie, and it’s going to put it on its own platform first.

Yes, that means HBO Max will get the witchy sequel. It won’t necessarily stay there. A lot of Warner Bros. movies have made the rounds on the streaming platforms, both exclusively and non-exclusively. However, it doesn’t make sense for the production studio to license it out at first when it can gain subscribers for its own platform.

Now the question is when. When will Practical Magic 2 head to HBO Max? HBO Max doesn’t have a clear window, but we can look at Superman and One Battle After Another for an idea. Those movies took 70 days and 84 days, respectively, to go from theaters to a streaming platform. The movies that continue to perform well in the box office are likely to stay in theaters for longer.

So, with that in mind, we’re looking at somewhere between Nov. 19, 2026 and Dec. 3, 2026. Considering that’s right around Thanksgiving, Warner Bros. will likely want to take advantage of families gathering together and wanting to watch a movie about a witchy family, so just before Thanksgiving weekend makes a lot of sense.

The titles usually remain on HBO Max for a year or two, and then can be licensed to other platforms. This is when Netflix could get access to it for a short period of time.

Practical Magic 2 is going to be a movie you want to see in theaters as much as possible. It’s set 25 years after the events of the first movie, with the kids now all grown up. Joey King takes on the role of Kylie Owens, and the family is about to learn that the Owen curse isn’t over just yet. They’ll have to travel to England to learn more about the beginning of their family and how this curse came about.

Get ready for a Sept. 11, 2026, release date in theaters, with some advance viewing options on Sept. 10.

Will Target Be Open on Labor Day?

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 2:30am

Labor Day feels like it’s arriving a little late this year, landing on Monday, Sept. 7, but that doesn’t make the three-day weekend any less welcome. And, as with any federal holiday, there’s one practical question that tends to come up before the long weekend gets underway: What are Target’s Labor Day hours? If you’re hoping to squeeze in a last-minute grocery run, pick up a few things for a backyard gathering or browse the aisles while you have the day off, it’s worth knowing whether your local store will be open.

Because here’s the thing: Target isn’t just about grabbing groceries or that cute top you probably don’t need but want to buy anyway; the retailer also often includes a Starbucks for a caffeine jolt or a pharmacy for healthcare needs. So a day without Target can really throw a wrench into your routine.

What are Target’s Labor Day Hours?

Current store listings show locations maintaining their regular hours on Monday, Sept. 7, though opening and closing times can vary by store. For example, some locations are scheduled to be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while others stay open until 11 p.m.

As far as Target pharmacies, optical and mobile, those are listed as having their usual hours as well; however, each of those departments typically opens later and closes earlier than the rest of the store. So keep that in mind if you need to use those services on Labor Day (or any day, for that matter).

While you’re shopping the aisles, take a peek at some of our favorite recent Target finds, like a stunning five-quart mixing bowl from Joanna Gaines’ line. There’s also a great six-tier arched bookcase that gives Anthropologie vibes (and it’s on sale), as well as a spot-on Longchamp dupe for a fraction of the cost of the real thing.

Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Beautiful’ Scalloped Table Lamp Creates a ‘Cozy Ambiance’, and It's Nearly 70% Off

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 1:45am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

A small table lamp is one of the easiest ways to transform the feel of a room. Instead of relying on harsh overhead lighting, it creates a softer, more inviting atmosphere that instantly makes a space feel cozy and relaxing. Best of all, table lamps deliver plenty of ambiance without taking up much room.

If you’re looking for an affordable option, the Kelly Clarkson Home Accent Table Lamp is worth a look. Right now, it’s on sale for up to 69% off at Wayfair during the retailer’s Labor Day sale, bringing the price down from $110 to just $34.

The lamp comes in seven base finishes, including neutral shades like black, cream, and white, along with bolder options like burnt orange and green. You can also choose from three shade colors: tan, beige, and white. With so many combinations available, it’s easy to find one that complements your space.

Measuring 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide, this compact lamp fits comfortably on nightstands, desks, side tables, and consoles. It uses a standard E26 bulb with a maximum 60-watt rating and weighs just 3.5 pounds.

The design strikes a nice balance between minimalist and eye-catching. Its asymmetrical ceramic base has an urn-inspired silhouette and a matte, pottery-like finish that gives it a handcrafted feel. The woven rattan empire shade adds texture while softening the light for a warm, welcoming glow.

Its smaller footprint makes it especially useful in spaces where every inch counts. A simple on-off switch keeps operation easy, while the translucent cord helps maintain a clean, uncluttered look.

One shopper wrote, “The base feels sturdy and well made. It’s a beautiful piece but also small enough to not take up too much space. The shade helps the light put off a soft glow and is not too glaring.”

Another said it creates a “cozy ambiance,” sharing, “The lamp has a unique, minimalist look that adds a touch of sophistication without overpowering the space. The size is ideal for an accent table or bedside, and it doesn’t take up too much space, which I really appreciate.”

Yes, Chick-fil-A is open on Labor Day 2026. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants will be open on Monday, Sept. 7, as Labor Day is not one of the chain’s regular nationwide closure holidays.

Chick-fil-A typically closes its restaurants on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, while remaining open for other major holidays, including Labor Day. However, individual locations can have different schedules, particularly restaurants located inside airports, malls, universities, hospitals and other facilities.

If you’re visiting a Chick-fil-A you don’t normally go to, it’s a good idea to check its hours before leaving home.

What are Chick-fil-A’s Labor Day Hours?

Chick-fil-A’s Labor Day hours generally follow its regular schedule, although hours can vary by location. Most restaurants typically operate from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, but some locations may have different hours.

For the most accurate information, check your local restaurant using the Chick-fil-A app or the restaurant locator on the company’s website. This is especially helpful if you’re planning to visit early in the morning or later in the evening.

Keep in mind that Chick-fil-A restaurants are generally closed on Sundays, so if your Labor Day plans extend through the weekend, be sure to account for that when making your plans. Checking your specific restaurant’s hours before heading out is always the best plan.

Mariska Hargitay Wins 2 Emmys Ahead of Hosting Gig

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 12:55am

Twenty years after winning an Emmy for the first time, Mariska Hargitay just picked up two more.

The beloved Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress, 62, took home a pair of trophies on Saturday, September 5 at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, where Night 1 of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards was held.

The honors, however, had nothing to do with her Law & Order: SVU work. As fans may know, she directed the recent documentary My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay, which chronicles Hargitay’s journey to understand the legacy of her mother, Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield.

During the Saturday ceremony, formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys, Hargitay won for:

  • directing for a documentary/nonfiction program
  • outstanding documentary or nonfiction special

The Television Academy took to social media to celebrate her wins. “Mariska Hargitay makes an entire room stop and look,” reads the Instagram post’s caption. Check out the flashy reel below.

View this post on Instagram

Fans have since flooded the post’s comments section to show their love and support for Hargitay. “YES QUEEN!!!!! Congratulations!!!! You absolutely deserve it!!! 💕🫶” wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, “This is the year of MARISKA.”

“It feels extraordinarily new, and it’s deeply meaningful for me to have gone into a completely different arena [than SVU]. And to be recognized like this is really beyond my wildest dreams,” she told reporters backstage on Saturday, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Oh, and all this is happening before Hargitay’s main event: hosting the Primetime Emmys. It was announced back on July 7 that she’ll be taking the stage as emcee on Monday, Sept. 14. According to Variety, Hargitay will be the first woman to host the ceremony in 15 years. The most recent woman to host the award show was Jane Lynch in 2011, when the Emmys aired on Fox.

1984 Country Classic, Recorded by Garth Brooks, Reimagined by Lainey Wilson at College GameDay

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 12:51am

Lainey Wilson returned to her roots on Saturday, Sept. 5, visiting her home state of Louisiana, where she served as the first celebrity guest picker for the kickoff of ESPN’s “College GameDay” 40th season.

Opening the pregame show broadcast at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, the country music superstar, 34, delivered a high-energy performance of the show’s theme song, Big & Rich’s “Comin’ To Your City,” alongside the LSU marching band. She also performed a mash-up of her 2026 single, “Can’t Sit Still,” and a cover of “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” made famous by Garth Brooks.

“Callin’ Baton Rouge” is special to the city, serving as the longtime pregame tradition for the LSU football team as well as the run-out song for the LSU baseball team, the Tigers.

Onstage, as shown in the YouTube clip above, Wilson can be seen throwing all of her energy into her “Callin’ Baton Rouge” performance, while backed by her band and a fiddler.

She dons a cowgirl hat and sports a sparkly-gold-and-purple tiger-print ensemble while treating the crowd to the memorable sing-along. Cheerleaders, as well as the LSU mascot, are also shown dancing in the background as Wilson, who is married to former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, gets the crowd amped for the big game between LSU and Clemson.

“Callin’ Baton Rouge,” written by Dennis Linde, was originally recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys for their 1978 album, Room Service, and also appeared on Billie Jo Spears’ 1980 album, Standing Tall. Various other artists put their spin on the country tune, but Brooks’ version became the song’s best-known and most commercially successful recording.

Though not a No. 1 hit in the U.S., Brooks’ rendition of the song, which was released as a single in 1994 and appears on his 1993 album, In Pieces, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The song also topped the RPM country charts in Canada.

Aside from her “College GameDay” appearance, it was announced that Wilson will return to host the upcoming 60th annual Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards).

This will mark Wilson’s third consecutive year hosting the show and second consecutive year serving as a solo host.

What Are Walmart's Labor Day Hours?

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 12:30am

Labor Day is officially here, and you know what that means—summer is pretty much over. Although the weather hasn’t exactly gotten the memo, it’s time to pack up your board shorts, hang up your sun hat and put away the pool floaties as we ease our way into fall. But before we start pulling on our sweaters and swapping out our strawberry matcha for a PSL, what better way to send off the season than with one final hurrah?

We’re talking the kind of bash that gets the whole neighborhood out, complete with burgers on the grill, impromptu water balloon fights, and more than a few summery cocktails. One last tomato-tini, anyone? Of course, pulling off a Labor Day cookout that feels apropos for the end of summer might require a few reinforcements.

And if you want to do it right, you might be wondering what Walmart’s Labor Day hours are so you can grab everything you need. Lucky for you, you’ve come to the right place to find the answer.

Whether you need to pick up a last-minute pack of hot dog buns or a set of outdoor safe plates and glasses, the World’s largest retailer has it all (and then some). And the good news is, they’ll be open on Labor Day. That means there’s no sweat if you end up needing to make an emergency run for potato salad or an extra set of grill tongs. You can even grab all the ingredients you need to make that no-churn Strawberry Shortcake ice cream everyone has been raving about. Spoiler: you’ll want to make a double batch.

That said, Labor Day is still indeed a holiday, and it’s always a good idea to keep in mind that some locations might decide to close early. There’s nothing worse than making it all the way to Walmart only to realize you can’t even get in.

While the main grocery and retail areas will operate during regular business hours, additional services, like the pharmacy and Walmart Vision Center, may operate on a reduced schedule or be closed altogether. Typically, you can drop in any time between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m, but it still doesn’t hurt to double-check with your local store to be on the safe side.

Bad Bunny Is Now Halfway Toward Achieving E.G.O.T. Status

Sun, 09/06/2026 - 12:10am

Could Tony-winning music and an Oscar-winning song be in store for Bad Bunny’s future?

If so, the 32-year-old rapper would be what showbiz calls an “EGOT,” given that he just won Emmy gold for that historic Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year.

The early wins announced on Saturday, September 5 already secured Apple’s annual event as a big winner — but fans were undoubtedly wondering if Bad Bunny himself would receive an Emmy Award.

Then, it happened. His show-stopping mini-concert held on Sunday, Feb. 8 won in the outstanding variety special (live) category, meaning the Puerto Rican superstar was among the winners handed a trophy.

During Night 1 of this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards — formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys — the Super Bowl Halftime show also won in a whopping six other categories:

  • directing
  • lighting design
  • music direction
  • sound mixing
  • choreography
  • technical direction

As fans might recall, high-profile guests of the halftime show included Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, while an actual wedding and real-life business owners were also amongst the crowd.

“The performance is celebrating normal people, and what it is to be human and love and have joy, and really appreciate one another,” the show’s creative director Harriet Cuddeford previously told Variety. “This was to show how much he values his community, to celebrate normal people on the world’s biggest stage, especially people who are of importance in Latino culture. He’s a very authentic person, Benito, and it’s about just being authentic and very real and very human.”

Bad Bunny Continues to Outdo Himself

Earlier this summer, the chart-topper hit yet another new career milestone with his latest Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour. And his continued dominance means he has now extended his own record, earning another No. 1 on Billboard’s monthly Top Tours chart.

As the outlet reported, the feat marks the second time this year that the “NUEVAYoL” singer topped the chart, a third time while on this specific tour, and a “record-extending 10th time since the ranking launched in 2019.” Find out more here.

The top is a bit flowy, giving it a “flattering” fit, according to shoppers. It has a subtle ribbed design, and elastic crewneck, and a curved hem. All of these trendy details result in a shirt that’s just a little more elevated than your everyday long-sleeve shirt.

With colors like brown, maroon, gray, and cream on sale, this top just screams fall. It’s “perfect” for layering, according to shoppers, but also lightweight and enough to wear now in the late summer weather.

Iconic ’90s British Rock Band Could Be Headed to Las Vegas

Sat, 09/05/2026 - 11:06pm

A beloved British rock band could be making its way to Las Vegas.

Oasis is reportedly planning a string of shows at Allegiant Stadium as part of a massive 2027 tour, according to The US Sun. The concerts are expected to be formally announced in the coming days, alongside additional dates across North America and Europe.

The potential Las Vegas shows would mark another major chapter in the band’s long-awaited comeback. Noel and Liam Gallagher reunited for Oasis Live ’25 last year, their first tour together since the band split in 2009.

According to The Sun, Oasis is also expected to perform at Boston’s Gillette Stadium, while its European plans reportedly include shows at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Stadium and Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium. The band is also set to return to several major venues in the U.K., including Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Knebworth House, where Oasis famously performed in 1996.

And now, Noel himself has seemingly added fuel to speculation that Oasis could return to the stage next summer. During a recent appearance on talkSPORT Drive, the singer was asked about rumors of another Oasis tour in 2027. While he initially appeared to brush off the idea, his response quickly became more intriguing.

After noting that Liam had recently stepped away from social media, Noel said, “Well, then there must be something happening,” before adding, “Let’s just say there’s no football tournament on next year, so we’ve got to do something in the summer, right?”

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement.
