Jane Fonda Fights Back Tears While Revealing the Important Lesson Dolly Parton Taught Her

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 11:18am

Jane Fonda is reflecting on what made her longtime friend and 9 to 5 costar Dolly Parton so special following the country legend’s death.

Speaking after Parton was laid to rest to Democracy Now! on Monday, August 31, Fonda became visibly emotional when asked what the singer ultimately meant to her. “She had love. She really did. She loved everyone,” Fonda said, fighting back tears.

Fonda recalled witnessing that compassion firsthand while traveling with Parton through Appalachia in the late 1970s. Despite arriving in her unmistakable “full regalia,” Fonda said Parton treated everyone they encountered with genuine respect. “She taught me the importance of acknowledging and respecting fans,” Fonda said.

The actress also shared a lighter memory from 9 to 5, which marked Parton’s first movie role. According to Fonda, Parton arrived on her first day having memorized the entire screenplay because she thought that was expected of her.

Several weeks into filming, Parton called Fonda and costar Lily Tomlin over during lunch and revealed she had written a song. Using her famous fingernails as percussion, she performed what would become “9 to 5.” “Lily and I looked at each other. We both had the biggest goosebumps we’d ever had,” Fonda recalled in the interview.

There’s no doubt Klute star considered Parton a feminist. “Oh, absolutely. Absolutely,” she responded when asked, explaining that Parton understood how others perceived her but remained firmly in control of her image, career and business. “She was always in charge of her life,” Fonda said.

Parton’s death rocked the world last week and prompted tributes from generations of musicians and fans. Fonda remembered Parton as fiercely intelligent and unusually perceptive about other people. She said her friend had an ability “like X-ray vision” to look beyond someone’s exterior and see who they really were.

Parton died August 25 at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones in Nashville, Tennessee. The music icon was laid to rest on August 28 during a private burial beside her late husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025.

OnlyFans Star Donna Mills, 85, Revealed the One Soap Opera Scene She Refused To Film

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 11:16am

Donna Mills starred in the CBS soap opera Knots Landing, which aired from 1979 until 1993. She played Abby Cunningham, who was the main antagonist on the show. This week, she spoke to “That’s Classic” about the one storyline that she refused to film.

“They wanted me to be the one who stole Valene’s twins,” she explained. “Well, she was told that they died at birth. It’s not true. Somebody stole them. And when they first laid this whole storyline out, it was supposed to be me.”

The storyline, which took place during season six, involved Valene Ewing’s twins, Bobby and Betsy. Erwing was played by Joan Van Ark, who is currently 83.

“I went to David [Crane], and I said, ‘David, if you don’t want me on the show anymore, go ahead with the storyline the way it is because the audience will not forgive me for that,’” Mills recalled. “I can do a bunch of other stuff. I could steal somebody’s husband. I can cheat it, you know, in the corporate world, you know, whatever. But to steal someone’s babies, they will never forgive me.”

Mills continued, “I don’t think Abby would ever do [that]. She’s a mother. That’s her one vulnerability. She’s a mother, and she loves her children, and she loves children, and she couldn’t do that to someone else.”

In the end, everything worked out. “They listened to me,” Mills revealed. “And there were innuendos that I had done it or whatever. But in the end, it came out that it wasn’t me.” Instead, it was revealed that the twins were stolen by a doctor.

Mills is still working to this day and recently joined OnlyFans. When speaking about her fans, she told Creators Inc., “They just want to be friends. They want to know what I do during the day when I’m home. They want to see my home. They want to know much more about my personal life than we ever experienced back in the ‘80s and the ‘90s.”

Jewel Shares Behind-the-Scenes Memory of Working With Dolly Parton: 'She Was Flawless'

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 11:03am

As celebrity tributes to Dolly Parton have poured in following the news of her death last week, singer Jewel shared a special memory of when she worked the late country star.

“I’ll never forget @dollyparton coming into the studio to record ‘My Father’s Daughter’ with me,” Jewel wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “She told me the song reminded her of her own life story, and of ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ which meant so much to me.”

View this post on Instagram

Jewel then recalled actually recording the 2015 song with the country legend, where Parton entered the room in her full “Dolly” look.

“At 8 o’clock in the morning, she walked into the studio in full leather pants, lucite high heels, perfect hair, with sparkly butterflies woven through it — completely and unmistakably Dolly,” she recounted. “She was prepared, gracious, funny, and consummately professional. And when she opened her mouth to sing, she was flawless.”

Jewel went on to rave about Parton, who died last week at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer.

“There are some people you admire from afar and somehow admire even more once you get to work beside them. Dolly is one of those people,” she wrote. “An extraordinary artist, songwriter, storyteller, and woman. I feel so lucky that our voices got to meet on this song and that I have it as a memento to keep of her extraordinary life.”

Jewel’s post consisted of a video that she took at the time of their recording where she described getting to meet and bond with the country legend over their shared upbringing.

Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, confirmed the news of her passing in an Instagram video shared to her account last week.

“It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly,” he said, in part. “Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens.”

Following the release of the news, music icons including Cyndi Lauper, Paul McCartney, and Linda Ronstadt all shared social media tributes to the late singer.

Ghirardelli‘s “so cute” fall-inspired chocolates are making a comeback for the 2026 season.

Now that it’s officially September, stores have a healthy stock of autumn-inspired items and Halloween candy on their shelves and among the offers are Ghirardelli’s Jack O’Lantern Chocolates. This Parade editor spotted them on shelves while perusing the grocery store yesterday, and lo and behold, the century-old chocolate company confirmed the treats return today, September 1.

“Chocolate has always been part of the moments people look forward to each Halloween season,” Bobby Oliver, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company’s vice president and head of marketing, shared in a statement. “Our Jack O’Lantern chocolates bring a playful twist to the Ghirardelli flavors fans know and love, making the season a little more special.”

Ghirardelli’s Chocolate Jack O’Lanterns Return in 3 Flavors for Fall 2026

If the Jack O’Lantern-shaped chocolates are new to you, there are really only two things you need to know: the first is that the candies are available in three flavors; the second is that last year, shoppers admitted to purchasing these “on sight”, calling them an instant favorite and earning them the title of “best-seller”—so don’t expect these to stay on shelves for long!

‘The Challenge 42’ Sneak Peek: A Mutiny Threat Looms as a Terrifying Daily Arrives (Exclusive)

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 11:00am

We’re only five episodes into Season 42 of The Challenge, and fans are already heralding it as one of the best installments in years. We’ve had heartwarming moments, like Nelson Thomas winning his first elimination after the amputation of his foot. We’ve had shocking storylines, like the possible adulterous flirtations between Anna Leigh Wilson and Leo Dionicio. And we’ve certainly had a lot of conflict between the players. In short, this version of Cutthroat has seemingly taken The Challenge to new heights.

And, in a sneak peek of this week’s episode, the show takes that literally.

The Challenge Season 42 Episode 6 Sneak Peek (1:14)

In the clip above, TJ Lavin welcomes the remaining 18 competitors to their next daily challenge. Before getting into the proceedings, however, there’s a little matter to address: Mutiny. Last week, each of the three teams was tasked with picking a captain, who would not only be safe from elimination, but also choose who from the other two teams would be sent into the sand. Two longtime vets and a rookie, Tori Deal, Cory Wharton, and Josh Goldstein, were elected. But their position may not be permanent.

While in theory the captains have been determined for the rest of the season, Lavin told the players that, if the rest of the team desires, they can overthrow their leader. If everyone but the captain agrees to it, they will be dethroned, and a new person will step into power. At the end of last week, we certainly had the seeds of rebellion. Nelson Thomas, the only other guy on the Blue team, is already looking to unseat Josh so he’s not forced into every guys’ elimination by default. And Cory is worried Chris Underwood will eventually get the ears of the entire Grey team to take him out.

Related: Two-Time ‘Challenge’ Champion Dies at 44

Luckily for them, the kindlings of a coup have barely sparked. Before getting into the daily, Lavin asks if anyone would like to conduct a mutiny (something he’ll do every episode). After a lengthy pause, nobody speaks up. But, given how bloodthirsty some of these players are, it won’t be long before they try to make Cutthroat worthy of its title.

At any rate, it’s time to officially move into this week’s daily: Trial By Terror. The centerpiece for this challenge is a giant rig suspended 30 feet above the water. Two platforms sit at either end, with a series of colored rings in between them. There is also a code of specific colors that each team must take on their way from one side to the other. Get the right color, keep on swinging. But pick any wrong shade, and the ring comes loose, as it (and the person holding on) go tumbling into the water. The team that gets the most people across gets the win, earning safety for the week, while the other two captains must decide who from their groups will go into elimination.

Can Orange continue their run of daily dominance and ensure they don’t lose anyone for another week? Will Grey get redemption after losing two of their biggest heavy-hitters last week? Or can the ragtag Blue bunch actually earn the win? Check out the sneak peek above, and check out new episodes of The Challenge: Cutthroat Wednesdays on Paramount+.

1988 Dance Hit Became a Signature Song for the British Duo, Erasure

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 10:34am

Erasure released “Little Respect” in 1988. The hit, which became one of their signature songs, reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was written by band members Vince Clarke and Andy Bell.

Clarke spoke about his songwriting process in an interview with SongFacts. “I’ve tried to write lyrics that perhaps express the way I feel sometimes,” he explained. “I’ve struggled with that feeling. I find it easier to write lyrics about someone else’s situation other than my own. I can’t, with any of my songs, say, yeah, that was me when I was half drunk, hungover or something or other. They are more situations about other people. Andy is much better at offering his heart to the world, and expressing how he feels. He’s a king at that, I think.”

“Little Respect” is about asking for empathy and respect. According to the February 1989 issue of Spin magazine, Bell, who is an openly gay man, would occasionally introduce the song by saying, “When I was a little girl, I asked my mummy, ‘Can I be gay when I grow up?’ She replied, ‘Yes, if you show a little respect.'”

Erasure’s other big hit was “Chains of Love,” which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also released in 1988.

Related: 1960 Rock Song, From a Singer Who Died in a Boating Accident, Became a No. 1 Hit for Ringo Starr

Clarke is currently 66. Bell is 62. When asked how their friendship has endured four decades, Bell told The Guardian, “Vince is a sweetheart. He makes out he’s really tough on the outside, and I know that he’s not. We just balance each other really well.” He added, “He’s been a great teacher. He was in the industry five years or more before I joined him. He’s taught me a lot about being sensible. As much as you can be.”

The pair is still making music to this day. According to their website, “Vince Clarke and Andy Bell are still working together as Erasure and have no plans for that to stop. Erasure are currently in the studio working on a new album, and Vince and Andy are involved in discussions about various possible touring scenarios to promote that release.”

1962 Rock Song, Written About a Teenage Crush, Launched a 20-Year-Old’s Career

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 10:23am

Before Tommy Roe became a No. 1 hitmaker, he was a 14-year-old songwriter with a few guitar chords and a song inspired by a teenage crush.

That song would eventually become “Sheila,” Roe’s 1962 rock and roll hit that topped the Billboard Hot 100. But it took years of tweaks, a name change and a little help from Buddy Holly before it got there.

“I started so young. I was like 14 years old when my dad taught me a few chords on the guitar, and I wrote ‘Sheila’ soon as I learned how to play the guitar,” Roe recalled in an interview. “That was one of the first songs I wrote, it was originally called ‘Freda,’ sweet little Freda.”

The title came from the girl who inspired it. Roe had a crush on a classmate named Freda, whom he remembered chasing around the playground. “Before I was able to give her the poem, she just didn’t show up at school anymore. She moved away,” he recalled. “And so, she never knew about the poem … as far as I know.”

The song also went through a name change before it became “Sheila.” When Roe auditioned for a record producer in Atlanta, the producer liked the song but was not sold on the title. “He said, Man, I really like that song ‘Freda.’ But I’m not crazy about the title,” Roe recalled. “Then we changed the title. We just changed it to ‘Sheila’ because it fits so well and sang so well.”

Roe recorded the song for the first time while still in high school with his band, The Satins. It got plenty of airplay in Atlanta and became a regional success, but never broke out nationally.

After graduating, Roe connected with producer Felton Jarvis, who believed the song deserved another shot. Jarvis wanted to re-record “Sheila” in Nashville, giving the song a stronger rock and roll edge influenced by Roe’s idol.

His idea was to add what Roe later called “Buddy Holly drums” to the recording, hoping to capture some of the energy associated with Holly’s music. “I was a huge fan of his, and that was my way of respecting Buddy Holly,” Roe said.

The re-recording took “Sheila” in a new direction, with Jarvis adding the rolling drum sound that helped define the hit. Roe, though, initially had his doubts. “I HATED ‘Sheila’ when we left the studio,” he recalled. “I felt like we had really screwed my song up here.”

It turned out he had nothing to worry about. Buddy Dean, a Baltimore DJ who also hosted a local television show, flipped the record and started playing “Sheila.” The song quickly caught on in Baltimore before spreading to stations across the country. “And next thing it was No. 1 everywhere,” Roe recalled.

Released in 1962, “Sheila” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for two weeks. Roe was just 20 years old when the song reached the top of the chart, six years after he first wrote it as a teenager.

What began as a song written by a kid with a crush had become his first No. 1 hit and gold record, launching a recording career that would go on to produce several more successful singles.

1994 True Crime Movie, Starring a Pre-'Titanic' Kate Winslet, Ranked Among 'Greatest Movies of the '90s'

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 10:11am

True crime probably isn’t what comes to mind when you think of Peter Jackson. The New Zealand filmmaker got his start in horror with films like Braindead (aka Dead Alive) and Bad Taste before making history in fantasy with The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. But the road between those two chapters of his career included one of his most brilliant, underappreciated films: Heavenly Creatures.

Rolling Stone named it one of the greatest films of the 1990s. The movie stars a young Kate Winslet, in the years before Titanic made her a household name, alongside Melanie Lynskey, playing real-life friends Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker. Jackson drew on Pauline’s actual diary to keep the story as accurate as possible, and shot on location where the real events unfolded. The film follows the girls’ friendship as it spiraled into the murder of Pauline’s mother, driven by their terror of being torn apart.

Juliet and Pauline became friends at Christchurch Girls’ High School in 1952, and their bond quickly grew into something all-consuming. Together they invented an elaborate fantasy kingdom called Borovnia, building out detailed backstories and characters until the imaginary world felt as real to them as their own lives. They even adopted alter-ego names, Deborah and Gina, for use inside their shared fantasy.

Everything changed in 1954, when Juliet’s family began preparing to relocate to South Africa. The girls became fixated on the belief that Pauline’s mother, Honora, was the one thing standing between them and staying together, and they ultimately decided to kill her with a brick wrapped in a stocking.

“When Fran Walsh (Jackson’s wife and filmmaking partner) and I decided to write a script based on this case, which no one has really seriously re-evaluated over the past 40 years, we really wanted to take it back to the human beings,” Jackson told Bobbie Wygant at the time. “And to say, ‘Well, they weren’t evil.’ I mean, they were two 15-year-old girls.”

“You know, they did this extraordinarily tragic thing, but there had to have been some forces at work within their friendship or outside of their friendship that led them to this action,” he added.

Jackson brought Juliet and Pauline’s dreamlike inner world to the screen with haunting effect. Within just a few years, Winslet would become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, while Lynskey has gone on to standout roles in Two and a Half Men, Yellowjackets, and beyond.

To determine its ranking, the Action Network analyzed 1,651 unannounced drive-thru visits across 10 major fast-food chains and ran the numbers the way a sportsbook would price them. From there, it converted those findings into an American moneyline.

Based on its findings, the Action Network ranked the following fast food chains based on the chance they’ll get your drive-thru order incorrect:

  1. Taco Bell: 15 percent chance
  2. Wendy’s: 13 percent chance
  3. Dunkin’: 13 percent chance
  4. Burger King: 12 percent chance
  5. Raising Cane’s: 12 percent chance
  6. Arby’s: 11 percent chance
  7. KFC: 11 percent chance
  8. Carl’s Jr. / Hardee’s: 10 percent chance
  9. McDonald’s: 7 percent chance
  10. Chick-fil-A: 7 percent chance

Across the board, 11 percent of fast food drive-thru orders are wrong. Another interesting finding from this research is that the faster the fast food is, the more likely it is to get your order wrong. Which leads us to that number one spot: Taco Bell.

Well, if you thought you had a bad year, Taco Bell says, “Hold my Crunchwrap Supreme.” For starters, it was affected by that whole diarrhea-causing parasite. And now, according to the Actions Network, it’s the top spot for getting your order wrong at the drive-thru.

That said, we’re all doing our very best, including Taco Bell and its employees. Remember, mistakes happen, and it’s always good to be patient and kind, especially if your taco order comes back wrong. Just double-check before you drive away so you can remedy the error more easily.

King of Country George Strait Returning ‘One Final Time’ for Major 2027 Event

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 10:05am

George Strait is already making plans for 2027, and his latest announcement comes with four words guaranteed to get fans’ attention: “one final time.”

The King of Country announced that he will return to New Mexico in 2027 for major country music festival Boots in the Park weekend, but according to both Strait’s announcement and the event’s website, it will be his final return to the state. The festival is taking place May 14-16, 2027 in Albuquerque.

“George Strait is returning to New Mexico one final time! 🌄” read the announcement shared on Strait’s Instagram account.

The event’s website echoed the news with an even more definitive declaration: “The King of Country Returns to New Mexico One Final Time.”

George Strait’s Boots in the Park Return Already Has a Huge Lineup

While Strait’s social media announcement teased that the “full lineup” is coming soon, the event website already features some enormous names alongside the country legend.

Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Zach Top and Jon Pardi are all currently featured on the lineup page with Strait.

The weekend will also offer several different ticket tiers, including general admission, VIP Weekend and King’s Club options, as well as hotel packages. Additional experiences advertised for the event include the Whiskey Barrel Saloon, Country Club Dance Hall and Cactus Cantina.

Presale tickets are scheduled to become available Thursday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. MT, followed by the general sale Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. MT. Fans can also register in advance for presale access.

George Strait Has Kept His Live Performances Limited

The announcement is particularly notable because Strait has been increasingly selective about his live performances since ending his traditional touring career more than a decade ago.

The 74-year-old country superstar wrapped his massive Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, but he didn’t actually retire from performing. Instead, the country legend has continued to play carefully selected concerts, residencies and special events, making each new batch of dates a hot ticket.

His 2026 schedule followed that pattern.

Earlier this year, Strait expanded a run at Austin’s Moody Center after what promoters called “overwhelming demand,” adding May 15 and May 16 performances to previously announced April dates. At the time, the May concerts were confirmed as his final shows of 2026.

His limited 2026 schedule also included stadium dates in Lubbock, Texas, and Clemson, S.C., with guests including Miranda Lambert, Cody Johnson, Wyatt Flores and Dylan Gossett.

Now fans know Strait isn’t disappearing from the stage when 2026 ends.

His newly announced 2027 event will bring the “King of Country” back to New Mexico, albeit with one significant caveat: If the announcement holds true, fans in the Land of Enchantment are getting their last chance to see Strait perform there.

Supermodel Christy Turlington, 57, Is a Gray-Haired Goddess in Sweet Vacation Photos

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 10:02am

Christy Turlington may be one of the world’s most famous supermodels, but she isn’t afraid to show off her graying hair.

Turlington, 57, rose to stardom in the ’90s as one of the fashion world’s legendary supermodels alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford. In a fun vacation snap, the statuesque beauty showed off her gray hair. At a time when women feel the pressure to cover every inch of their grays, it’s refreshing to see Turlington, who has made a name for herself in recent years as an activist and documentarian working to advocate for the health of mothers during pregnancy and childbirth, take hold of her natural beauty and show it off. What a beauty!

“A wonderful visit with @cturlington ❤️ Always so great to reminisce about our trips!” Arthur Elgort captioned the photo series, which showed several shots of Turlington with a giant smile on her face.

Turlington Can Still Rock the Runway

Back in February, Turlington headed to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to close out the Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2026 Runway Show in a stunning black ensemble. But one of the most noticeable components of her look was the gray roots in her hair peeking through.

Here’s a look at Turlington closing out the runway at Kors:

After going back to school at 26 to get her undergrad degree at NYU, Turlington returned to school at 39 to get a master’s in public health. She’s the founder of Every Mother Counts, a maternal health care nonprofit organization. While she has two children, she previously told Glamour that the organization is “very much like my third child.”

In regard to her best professional advice, Turlington advised that people “cultivate meaningful relationships.”

“I really do try to listen very attentively to any kind of personal story that someone is sharing with me. Not in any kind of game way, but in a true way. Because the more I can absorb in whatever amount of time that I spend with anyone, the more closely we can connect and the more that I will be able to take forward into another relationship at some point,” she said. “There are so many relationships I’ve had since I was a teenager in my first profession that, while I don’t see people very frequently, they come in really handy in other areas of life. The more you put in at the very beginning, I think, the possibilities are that much greater. You just never know where anyone is going to move on to or be.”

Legendary Rock Guitarist From Fall Out Boy Turns 42

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 9:55am

Joseph Trohman is the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Fall Out Boy. The iconic band has had four top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down,” “Dance, Dance,” “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” and “Centuries.”

Today, Trohman turns 42. He was only a teenager when the band formed, and he was 20 when they released their breakthrough album, From Under the Cork Tree, in 2005. The album reached number nine on the Billboard 200 and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

In 2022, Trohman released a book called None of This Rocks: A Memoir, which has a 4.7-star rating on Amazon. In the book, he speaks in detail about his mental health.

When promoting the book, he spoke to Variety about the fact that the band has never shied away from discussing their emotions. “When we started Fall Out Boy, we were doing things lyrically that were very much about tapping into deep, emotional dark wells that were not okay to talk about,” he said. “Yeah, we were made fun of for that, of course, but it didn’t seem to hurt the band.”

He also spoke about the struggles that he has faced throughout the years. “There were still moments that were incredibly fun, and I had to be really present for, but then there were all these other moments where things were moving so fast,” he said. “They’re blazing past me, and I just couldn’t catch up to it and I felt lost. I just desperately want to find some sort of identity. When you’re a creative person, you do want to put your mark on stuff, and I felt like I was having a really hard time doing that in a band that was so prolific. Everybody was such a heavy brute-force creatively.””

Trohman’s book is available for purchase on Amazon. He is still a member of Fall Out Boy, and the band is still making new music to this day.

‘I'm a Cardiologist—This Is The First Thing I Ask About When Someone Says They're Dizzy’

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 9:50am

Feeling dizzy can certainly be disorienting. It can make you feel woozy, off-balance and even nauseous.

What causes this strange feeling? Typically, feeling dizzy is a sign that something has impacted your sense of balance. The central nervous system, ears and eyes all play important roles in maintaining spatial awareness and balance.

Dr. Dara Lee Lewis, MD, a preventive cardiologist with Mass General Brigham Heart & Vascular Institute, says that dehydration is a common cause of dizziness. “Most people will feel dizzy at times, and often this is due to dehydration. Any time we lose more salt and fluids than we take in—such as through sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, skipped meals or certain medications, including diuretics—we can become dizzy. If drinking fluids and electrolytes helps you feel better, then dehydration was the most likely cause,” she tells Parade.

But it isn’t just dehydration that can cause dizziness. Dr. Lee Lewis says that it could be a sign that your blood pressure is off. Here, she shares how you can know for sure what’s causing dizziness and when it’s important to see a doctor about it.

Related: Feeling Dizzy? Here Are 11 Possible Reasons Why Your World Is Spinning

The First Question a Cardiologist Asks About When Someone Feels Dizzy

If a patient tells Dr. Lee Lewis that they’re feeling dizzy, she says that the first questions she asks are geared toward getting a better understanding of what they mean.

“The term ‘dizziness’ can mean different things to different people, so I start by asking them to describe exactly what they are feeling. Some people feel lightheaded, as if they might faint. Others feel a sense of motion or that the room is spinning.  Then I ask, ‘What makes the dizziness worse, and what makes it better?’” she explains.

Related: Is It Normal to Feel Lightheaded Every Day?

After asking these initial questions, the first test Dr. Lee Lewis runs is checking blood pressure. “I often see patients who have low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness that is worse when they stand up and better when they lie down,” she says, explaining that dizziness caused by low blood pressure feels different from dizziness caused by a problem in the inner ear or brain, which feels more like a spinning sensation.

“This type of dizziness is often worse with head movement rather than the upright position,” she tells Parade.

This is exactly why she asks questions about what exactly the dizziness feels like: Dizziness caused by a problem with the cardiovascular system feels different from dizziness caused by a problem in the inner ear or brain.

Cardiovascular Issues That Can Cause Dizziness

As Dr. Lee Lewis has explained, low blood pressure can lead to feeling dizzy, specifically when standing up. “Any condition that causes the blood pressure to drop can cause dizziness. These might include excessively slow or excessively fast heart rate, overmedication with blood pressure-lowering medicines and dehydration,” she says.

The reason why low blood pressure can cause dizziness is because it leads to cerebral hypoperfusion, which means the brain is temporarily receiving less blood flow and oxygen than it needs.

Dr. Lee Lewis adds that some health conditions, such as advanced diabetes and Parkinson’s disease, can also cause a drop in blood pressure and lead to dizziness when standing upright. She explains that it isn’t unusual for people with advanced diabetes or Parkinson’s disease to frequently experience dizzy spells.

Diabetics experience dizziness for a different reason than why people with low blood pressure experience it. The dizziness that diabetics experience is due to low blood sugar. When blood sugar drops below 70 mg/dL, the brain loses its main source of fuel. This lack of energy is what causes the dizziness.

When To See a Doctor About Dizziness

If you’re feeling dizzy, Dr. Lee Lewis says that the first step is to sit down, drink some water and have something to eat. Remember, dehydration is a common cause of dizziness. If you’ve been outside in the heat, working out or have lost a lot of fluid through sweat for some other reason, she recommends drinking an electrolyte drink.

If the dizziness is so severe that you come close to fainting or you do faint, that’s when Dr. Lee Lewis notes it’s important to see a doctor ASAP.

“If dizziness is accompanied by a feeling of palpitations, racing or skipping heartbeat, this would also be a reason to see a doctor. But if the dizziness is mild and gets better on its own, it can usually be managed at home,” she adds.

Certainly, if dizzy spells are something you’re experiencing frequently, that’s another reason to see a doctor. With your doctor’s help, you can pinpoint the root cause of your dizziness and treat it accordingly. No one should have to suffer through dizzy spells, and once you know the reason they’re happening, you’ll no longer have to.

Which Pablo Picasso Painting Are You? Your Birth Date Reveals the Answer

Tue, 09/01/2026 - 9:39am

There’s a Picasso painting for everyone—you just need to look at your birth date to discover yours.

Between the numerological energy of birth date and understanding who Picasso is as an artist will point you to the painting that represents your soul.

Everyone knows that Pablo Picasso is a renowned Spanish artist who co-founded the Cubist movement. His artistic style is beloved because it’s distinct yet dynamic. Picasso can accredit some of his talent to his own birth date, April 8. Since he’s born on the 8th, Picasso embodies the numerological qualities of 8, making him powerful and masterful. Themes like control, money, authority, and spiritual balance play a significant part in not only Picasso’s life, but his art.

Picasso’s empowering birth date and skilled creativity touches everyone. No matter when you were born or the numerological energy you’re assigned, there’s a Picasso painting for you, based on your birth date.

Your Picasso Painting, Based on Your Birth Date

Check if your date of birth is listed. Disregard birth months.

Some of Picasso’s works might be too intense, but these birth dates will feel a strong kinship with At the Lapin Agile. People born on these dates feel nostalgic, since this painting transports them to another life. The distinctly humanistic vibration of At the Lapin Agile perfectly captures these birth dates’ empathetic spirit.

With her hair pulled back into a ponytail, McCarthy epitomized ’70s chic and looked happy and healthy.

McCarthy herself has spoken about her weight loss journey, sharing in a May 2018 interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club that she had been losing “a lot” of weight gradually, over the course of five years.

“I think everybody’s always kind of working on something,” she said. “And I was like, ‘If I can de-stress and just do it slower and stop constantly trying to be on something.’ And then it actually worked better instead of being like, ‘I’m gonna not do this and do this and only drink this.’ ”
