Fifty-five years ago, J.J. Cale released “Call Me The Breeze,” a song that, despite not being an initial chart hit, became a foundational staple of the country rock genre.

“Call Me The Breeze” was released on October 25, 1971, as the opening track to Cale’s debut studio album, Naturally. Although the song never garnered enough initial traction to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, it would go on to experience its first mainstream revival in 1974 when it was covered by rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The band’s rendition appeared on their sophomore album, Second Helping, transforming Cale’s stripped-down, blues-inspired track into a high-energy Southern rock anthem. While the cover reignited public interest in the song, it again failed to break into the Hot 100 chart.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s rendition of “Call Me The Breeze” was far from the last time an iconic artist preformed the song. In 1988, country icon Johnny Cash brought the song to life with a beloved version recorded alongside his son, John Carter Cash, for the collaborative studio album Water from the Wells of Home.

Cash’s version adopts a more traditional country approach, incorporating a rootsy sound with driving acoustic arrangements and high-energy bouncing piano. The pair’s twangy vocals come together to create a homely atmosphere, curating a sound that feels like a front-porch jam session.

Written by Cale, “Call Me The Breeze” tells the story of an easygoing drifter traveling the highway with nothing tethering him to one place. With no baggage or home, the narrator is content with his freedom to go wherever the wind takes him. Its themes of independence and the open road made for a quintessential Americana anthem that remains deeply appreciated today.

In 2024, Ultimate Classic Rock ranked their pick for the top 35 best country rock songs. Cale’s “Call Me The Breeze” took the No. 20 spot alongside other iconic tracks like The Rolling Stones’ 1971 song “Wild Horses” and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1970 song “Up Around the Bend.”

The song’s legacy extends far beyond industry lists. In the digital era, “Call Me The Breeze” continues to resonate with modern demographics. On Spotify, Cale’s original version has accumulated over 81 million streams, with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s version garnering over 118.7 millions listens.

The popular chain BJ’s Wholesale Club is opening eight new locations.

The Costco rival currently operates 267 locations in 22 states and has 206 gas stations. The chain is on target to open 25 to 30 new locations every two years as part of its growth strategy.

BJ’s Wholesale Club recently opened four stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area earlier this year and recently announced plans to open new locations in Kentucky and Indiana in 2026.

The Massachusetts-based chain also plans to open a store in Tyler, Texas, in spring 2027, a company spokesperson told USA TODAY. The Texas location is expected to create between 100 and 150 jobs in the area.

BJ’s has been delivering unbeatable savings and convenience to families for more than 40 years,” said Bill Werner, executive vice president, strategy and development, BJ’s Wholesale Club, in an Aug. 21 press release. “We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm we’ve seen from members in Texas and look forward to taking care of families in Tyler and the surrounding communities.”

While Valderrama was the guest of honor at the event, he wasn’t the only celeb Winkler welcomed to his home. Kim Kardashian also made an appearance, later posting pics on Instagram of herself, Winkler, and Winkler Reinis.

Along with a flock of famous faces, three of Winkler’s grandchildren, Ace, Jules, and Gus, attended the Soirée. The proud actor recently opened up to People, sharing some advice he gave all of his grandchildren (he has seven in total): “These are lessons, like no matter how you learn, it has nothing to do with how brilliant you are. If they have a learning challenge, if school is difficult, if they’re trying something and it’s hard, that tenacity and gratitude are two of the roads to live your life down.”

This isn’t the first time Winkler has hosted the event. Four years ago, Winkler spoke with Today about the 2022 Soirée: “We got an invitation (that read), ‘Come because your daughter and her friends are having an event.’ And then we look to where we were going, it was our house!” 

Sometimes the simplest sentiments make the greatest love songs.

Such is the case with Billy Joel’s 1977 ballad “Just the Way You Are,” a tender declaration of unconditional love that became the singer-songwriter’s first Top 10 hit and helped propel him to an entirely new level of fame.

Written by Joel for his then-wife and manager, Elizabeth Weber, “Just the Way You Are” almost didn’t make the record. While working on his fifth studio album,The Stranger, Joel wasn’t super keen on the “mushy” ballad and was considering leaving it off entirely. Luckily, fellow singer Linda Ronstadt heard his recording and set him straight.

“Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Snow were in the studio, and we played the song for them,” Joel told Rick Beato in a recent interview. “I said, ‘I don’t like this song that much.’ Linda Ronstadt goes, ‘Are you out of your mind? That’s a hit record. You got to put that on the album. That’s a great song.’ ‘Really?’ She talked me into it. So I have to thank Linda Ronstadt for that song.”

And it’s lucky for us he listened.

Released as a single in November 1977, “Just the Way You Are” climbed all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, becoming Joel’s first U.S. Top 10 single. In the U.K., it reached No. 19. The song would go on to win both Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 1979 Grammy Awards—Joel’s first two Grammys.

But someone else heard something special in Joel’s romantic ballad.

Just one year after its release, musical giant Barry White boldly recorded “Just the Way You Are” for his 1978 album, The Man. With his unmistakably deep and velvety voice, a new spoken preamble, and lush R&B treatment, White took Joel’s epic composition and moved it squarely into his own musical world.

The move was an inspired one.

Released as a single in the U.K. in December 1978, White’s version entered the chart at No. 61 before steadily climbing to No. 12. It remained on the chart for 12 weeks, making it the second-longest-running U.K. hit of White’s career at the time, and, remarkably, giving his cover a higher British peak than Joel’s original.

Back home, however, the story was very different. White’s version reached No. 45 on Billboard’s R&B chart and stopped at No. 2 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, never reaching the Hot 100 itself. Nonetheless, White’s sensual soul rendition of Joel’s heartfelt soft rock song was a giant international success. Even today, the question of whose version reigns superior is still hotly debated.

Of course White was not alone in seeing the song’s possibilities. At least 15 artists covered “Just the Way You Are” in 1978 alone, including Dionne Warwick, Johnny Mathis, Isaac Hayes and Grover Washington Jr.. Frank Sinatra added his own interpretation in 1980, and Willie Nelson followed in 2017.

The song was recently endorsed by another major legend. In an interview for the HBO Max documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, Paul McCartney shares that he “Just the Way You Are” is the one song he wishes he had written, which landed as a huge honor for an ever- humble Joel.

“That blew me away,” Joel told Beato. “I mean, he’s like the melodic king. He he can do no wrong with melody, Paul. His melodic sense is incredible.”

Nearly five decades later, Amazon Music ranks “Just the Way You Are” among its 100 Greatest Soft Rock Songs of all time. It is still blasting out of car speakers, playing on bar jukeboxes and making ultimate love song playlists. No one sings the song quite like Billy Joel.

But that hasn’t stopped the rest of the world from singing along.

Jethro Tull’s “Baker St. Muse” remains one of the most overlooked long-form songs from the classic rock era. 

Released in 1975 on Minstrel in the Gallery, the 16-minute-and-39-second track mixes progressive rock, folk, classical sounds, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and Ian Anderson’s signature flute.

The song was ranked No. 7 on Collider’s list of the “10 Most Underrated Classic Rock Songs of All Time.” It was praised for bringing together several musical sections that move through different moods while still working as one complete piece.

“Baker St. Muse” is also one of Jethro Tull’s longest studio recordings. Ian Anderson, the band’s singer, composer and lyricist, called it a “marathon piece” and described it as a “mini concept piece,” according to Fidelity Magazine.

The song appears on the second side of Minstrel in the Gallery, Jethro Tull’s eighth studio album, released in September 1975. 

“Baker St. Muse” is not built like a simple verse-and-chorus song. Instead, it moves through six connected sections, with changes in tempo, sound and mood.

The main “Baker St. Muse” theme appears at the beginning and returns near the end. Between those parts are four smaller sections: “Pig-Me and the Whore,” “Nice Little Tune,” “Crash-Barrier Waltzer” and “Mother England Reverie.”

The opening section sets the scene around Baker Street in London. Anderson’s lyrics look at everyday people and places, including a bus stop, shop windows, an underpass, Indian restaurants and newspaper sellers.

The song then moves into “Pig-Me and the Whore,” a section about a prostitute and her suitor near Blandford Street. “Nice Little Tune” follows as a short instrumental passage with glockenspiel.

“Crash-Barrier Waltzer” changes the mood again. It presents an encounter between a homeless woman and a policeman in a surreal, almost theatrical way.

“Mother England Reverie” turns the focus back toward the narrator. The section deals with loneliness and a feeling of being lost, before the main “Baker St. Muse” theme returns near the 14-minute mark.

The track also moves between acoustic and electric sounds. Acoustic guitar, piano and strings are joined by electric guitar, drums, bass and flute. Some sections become louder and more rock-driven, while others are quieter and more reflective.

The setting of “Baker St. Muse” was closely connected to Anderson’s life when he wrote it.

Anderson was reportedly living alone in a small cottage near Baker Street, a busy London street between Regent’s Park and Hyde Park. He described feeling lonely and unfamiliar with that part of the city.

Anderson explained that he would often walk along Baker Street toward Oxford Street, where record companies were located. At night, he would walk in the opposite direction to an Indian restaurant. He described this routine as part of his life after returning from long tours and while writing songs for a new album.

Those walks helped shape the song’s view of city life.

Rather than telling one simple story, “Baker St. Muse” observes the people Anderson saw around him. The song moves between street scenes, characters and personal feelings.

The track was also written during a difficult period for Anderson. He had divorced his first wife, Jennie Franks, while also dealing with an unsuccessful courtship. These experiences formed part of the album’s emotional background, although Anderson said the album mixed personal material with fantasy.

Minstrel in the Gallery itself followed Jethro Tull’s earlier progressive rock successes, including Aqualung and Thick as a Brick. The 1975 album returned to a blend of electric and acoustic music while adding long instrumental passages and orchestral elements.

The track’s length also helped set it apart. At 16:39, “Baker St. Muse” is nearly 17 minutes long and is longer than most conventional rock songs. Yet its changing sections give the piece a clear structure rather than making it one continuous instrumental passage.

Nearly five decades after its release, the song remains a deep cut for listeners exploring Jethro Tull’s progressive rock catalog. 

For listeners who know Jethro Tull mainly through Aqualung or Thick as a Brick, “Baker St. Muse” offers another look at the band’s distinctive approach to progressive rock.

• The Butler: “I was down in the wine cellar, retrieving a bottle for dinner.”
• The Maid: “I was in the dining room, setting the table for the evening meal.”
• The Gardener: “I was outside in the yard, pruning trees with a pair of shears.”
• The Husband: “I was out in the garden, doing a bit of stargazing, a beloved pastime.”

Hints To Figure Out the ‘Who Killed Mrs. Smith’ Riddle

It is tempting to place blame on the butler for being conveniently out of sight, or the gardener for admittedly having access to a sharp object. The chef could even be a suspect due to their access to sharp objects, as well.

The crucial detail that can easily be overlooked lies in Mr. Smith’s beloved pastime. The riddle states that Mrs. Smith was killed on a Sunday evening, not night. Stargazing can only be enjoyed after true darkness of night has set in, and the phrase “evening” commonly refers to twilight, or the period of time as the sun is just setting beneath the horizon.

Each suspect, aside from the husband, had an entirely plausible alibi for what they were doing that evening. The maid, butler and chef were all preparing dinner while the gardener was pruning while he still had enough daylight left to do so. It could be argued that perhaps Mr. Smith was awaiting the darkness in order to properly stargaze, but considering that it’s such a beloved pastime of his, he should know exactly when the most appropriate time to begin is. Jelly Roll and Carly Pearce sang a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton at the Grand Ole Opry on Aug. 29.

This past Saturday night show in Nashville, Tennessee, was dedicated to the legendary late musician. Patron passed away on Aug. 25 from an undisclosed battle with cancer. She was 80 years old.

A portion of each ticket purchased for the sold-out event will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the singer’s nonprofit focused on literacy. The organization donates over 1 million free books to children monthly.

The show included performances and tributes from musicians such as Kathy Mattea, who sang “Jolene”; Dan Tyminski, who sang “Smile When You’re Alone”; and Ketch Secor, who joined Molly Tuttle to perform “Just Someone I Used to Know.” The show also included performances by T. Graham Brown, Belle Frantz, Channing Wilson, and Parton’s niece, Jada Star.

The finale brought everyone on stage to sing the hit track 9 to 5.” Jelly Roll appeared as a surprise for fans. The emotional evening concluded with a clip of Parton performing “I Will Always Love You,” while the performers watched on stage.

Jelly Roll gave a sincere tribute to Parton while Guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week on Aug. 25.

“Now, on a serious note, speaking of country music, I do want to mention the big story on everyone’s heart and mind,” he said. “We lost a legend today, the great Dolly Parton. She was such an inspiration to so many, myself included. We’re both from Tennessee, and she meant a lot to my family, y’all. We used to sit around the kitchen table and listen to her music together as a family. I’ll never forget it.”

Lindt is ready for fall, even if we’ve technically still got a few weeks of summer left.

The century-old Swiss chocolatier has begun quietly rolling out its warmer, deeper seasonal flavors, and at least one of the autumn exclusives is a re-release of a limited-time Lindor Truffle that’s won consumers over for the past several years.

Just a few days ago, a popular snack influencer spotted the Lindt Milk Chocolate Maple Lindor Truffles on shelves at their local grocer and despite admittedly not being a huge fan of maple flavors, they remained curious and intrigued by the returning offer.

“I’m not a huge of maple especially with chocolate,” they wrote, asking their over 75,000 followers, “Have you tried these yet?”

While there weren’t many direct responses to the post itself, reviews on retailers’ websites make it clear that this particular milk chocolate truffle is adored by customers.

Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away,” the 1986 hit song, not only remains one of the era’s most iconic tracks but continues to captivate listeners 40 years later.

Known for their new wave and synth-pop music, the band, made up of Terri Nunn on lead vocals, John Crawford on bass and vocals and Rob Brill on drums, delivered a defining song that earned a spot on Amazon Music’s curated playlist.

The music platform featured “100 Greatest Soft Rock Songs,” highlighting notable classics from pop rock, soft rock and ballads that have remained beloved of all time.

The playlist features music icons and legends including Toto, The Police, Air Supply, Kansas and Billy Joel, with Berlin’s song securing the No. 29 spot.

“Take My Breath Away” was best known as the soundtrack for the blockbuster movie Top Gun.

Written by Italian producer Giorgio Moroder and American lyricist Tom Whitlock specifically for the 1986 action film, Whitlock shared how he came up with the title.

According to him, it was an overwhelming feeling of being so deeply awestruck by someone.

“The title was a phrase that had been running through my mind, in terms of asking for that kind of awe, something so striking that you can’t breathe,” he shared in an interview as cited by Songfacts.

From there, he created the song’s verses around romantic experiences that could inspire such intense and indescribable feelings.

After trying out other singers, Moroder asked the Berlin frontwoman to record the song, having previously worked with her on the band’s 1984 song “No More Words.”

Initially, Crawford had hesitated about Berlin recording the track because, according to him, it was not their song, as cited by Spin Magazine.

However, the record label encouraged the band to move forward and told them, “You’re doing this. You need all the help you can get. This is a movie. Regardless of whether it does well or not, your song will be on it.”

“We had no idea it would be a single. We were in the right place at the right time,” the bassist added.

Fortunately, Nunn’s version, which conveyed plenty of emotion and feeling, impressed the Top Gun producers and was ultimately used on the movie’s soundtrack.

Months after the release of the movie, “Take My Breath Away” became a huge hit, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

From being a smash hit and selling over half a million copies, the Gold-certified song also won Best Original Song at the 59th Academy Awards.

Decades later, Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away” is still making waves in the world of music, earning a spot on Collider’s list of the 20 Best Movie Soundtrack Songs of All Time.

Shrinkflation is real, and now Trader Joe’s shoppers are accusing the grocery chain of quietly shrinking something important.

One customer called attention to a change to the store’s bag size in a recent Instagram video after noticing that her usual grocery haul wasn’t fitting quite as easily into a single bag. According to the shopper, she asked the employee packing her groceries whether the bags had gotten shorter and was told they had.

Out came the tape measure. Pulling out one of Trader Joe’s older paper bags for comparison, the shopper placed the two versions side by side and measured what she said was a four-inch difference in height. “This bag is 4 inches shorter,” she said. “4 inches is not a small amount.”

According to the shopper, the employee told her the change was made because customers had complained that the handles weren’t strong enough on the taller bags, so making them shorter would help address the problem. Trader Joe’s has not publicly confirmed that explanation.

What particularly bothered the shopper, however, was the beloved chain’s failure to announce such a change. “Why don’t [you] just say we’re making smaller bags?” she joked, before adding, “The fact that you did it in the dead of the night, it gives Trader Joe’s and not Trader Joe’s.”

She wasn’t the only shopper to notice the shrinkage.

“Everything is so expensive these days so making the bag smaller gives the perception that you are leaving the store with more items,” one noted in the comments.

Another pointed out, “Did you notice the texture change too?? Went from rough and rustic to smooth and glossy.”

A third said, “My assumption was that since some states have always had the small bags they just universalized across the company,” referring to some stores on the West Coast.

The bag debate comes as Trader Joe’s is making a much more noticeable change to its footprint across the country. The grocer recently announced nine upcoming stores across Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Utah, bringing its cult-favorite groceries to even more shoppers.

Those stores are part of an even larger expansion. A Trader Joe’s representative previously said the company planned to open 21 locations across 13 states over a six-month period, with several new stores already welcoming customers.

A 1965 classic rock song by The Beatles has been ranked as having the greatest opening line among classic rock songs, with “Help!” taking the No. 1 spot on Collider’s list.

Released in 1965, “Help!” begins with John Lennon immediately calling out, “Help! I need somebody.” The short but powerful opening sets the tone for a song that sounds energetic on the surface but carries a much more serious message underneath.

The song was written primarily by Lennon, with help from Paul McCartney, and became the title track of The Beatles’ fifth studio album, Help!. The album was released by Parlophone on Aug. 6, 1965, while the “Help!” single arrived in July of that year.

Collider placed the song at No. 1 on its ranking of “10 Classic Rock Songs With the Greatest Opening Lines” and pointed out that the upbeat sound can make listeners overlook the meaning behind the first words.

For Lennon, the plea was not simply a catchy line. It reflected a real feeling of pressure and vulnerability during The Beatles’ rapid rise to worldwide fame.

“Help!” became one of The Beatles’ most recognizable songs, but its cheerful pace can hide the emotions in Lennon’s lyrics.

The second verse makes the message clearer as Lennon sings about losing his independence, feeling insecure and needing another person more than before. The song therefore creates a strong contrast between its lively musical arrangement and its troubled subject.

Lennon explained the personal meaning behind the song. In a 1980 interview with Playboy, he said: “The whole Beatles thing was just beyond comprehension. I was subconsciously crying out for help”.

The Beatles Anthology documentary also revealed that Lennon wrote the lyrics to express the stress he felt after the group’s quick rise to success. Lennon described himself as being depressed at the time and said he really was crying out for help.

The song was described by music writer Ian MacDonald as an important moment in Lennon’s songwriting. It represented a break from the emotional distance he had maintained while The Beatles became one of the biggest bands in the world.

Lennon himself also considered “Help!” one of his favorite Beatles songs. In the 1970 Rolling Stone “Lennon Remembers” interviews, he said that “Help!” and “Strawberry Fields Forever” were among his most honest and genuine Beatles songs.

The impact of “Help!” extended beyond its lyrics. The song became a major international hit, reaching No. 1 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart in 1965.

The track was part of the Help! album, which also featured “Ticket to Ride” and “Yesterday.” The album contained 14 songs, with seven appearing in the film Help! and filling the first side of the original British release.

“Yesterday,” found on the album’s second side, later became one of the most covered songs ever recorded. The album itself also became an important point in The Beatles’ growing artistic reputation, particularly in the United States.

Help! was also nominated for Album of the Year at the 1966 Grammy Awards, marking the first time a rock band had been recognized in that category.

The “Help!” recording itself earned further recognition when the 1965 Capitol Records version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008.

The song was recorded in 12 takes on April 13, 1965, using four-track equipment. Lennon handled the lead vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar, McCartney played bass and provided backing vocals, George Harrison played lead guitar and added backing vocals, while Ringo Starr played drums and tambourine.

The song’s opening remains one of the clearest examples of how a few words can immediately grab a listener.

While not every thriller features a deeply surprising moment that rattles viewers, some of the very best movies in the genre are famous for their startling revelations. For instance, the publication Collider recently spotlighted a few thrillers with major curveballs by releasing a ranking of “20 thriller movies with the best plot twists.”

The list, published on August 26, featured films like 2001’s Mulholland Drive, Oldboy, released in 2003, 2019’s Parasite, and Se7en, from 1995. According to Collider, the thriller with “the best plot twist” is 1960’s Psycho, adapted from Robert Bloch‘s 1959 novel. The publication referenced that the Alfred Hitchcock film includes a very iconic twist involving Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) and the identity of his “mother.”

Psycho, which also stars Janet Leigh and Vera Miles, holds a score of 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hitchcock, who died in 1980 at the age of 80, discussed Psycho in a 1960 interview for Picture Parade. He said that Psycho was his “first attempt at a shocker.”

“In other words, it has in its content certain episodes which do shock in some sense, it could be called a horror film, but the horror only comes to you after you’ve seen it when you get home in the dark,” teased the filmmaker, who also directed The Birds (1963), Rear Window (1954), and Vertigo (1958).

He also shared that he believed audiences enjoy being scared from the safety of their theater seats.

“Audiences love to enjoy the very thing that they have built in, and that’s fear. That all started when the mother said, ‘Boo,’ but for some inexplicable reason they like to, how shall I say, put their toe in the cold water of fear to see what it’s like. But when the country icon thought about her own funeral, she had a different song in mind—one that wasn’t hers at all.

One of the nation’s most prolific and influential gospel songwriters with more than 800 songs in his own catalog, Albert E. Brumley was famous for tunes like 1929’s “I’ll Fly Away” and 1936’s “I’ll Meet You in the Morning.” It was in 1945, however, that he wrote the country-gospel hymn that would put him directly in the spotlight more than eight decades later, courtesy of the Queen of Country Music.

According to Brumley & Sons Music, Brumley was inspired to write “If We Never Meet Again (This Side of Heaven)” after attending a singing convention in Memphis, Tennessee. A master of shape-note gospel music and deeply emotive songs rooted in church traditions, he was struck by the likelihood of never seeing the same group of people together in the same room ever again.    

“As he was returning home, he realized that group of people would likely never all be together again until they were in heaven,” Brumley & Sons Music wrote.

With lyrics that contemplate the finality of death and imagery that paints an eternal afterlife, the song has become a fitting choice for funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life. Its promise of moving beyond “this world and its strife,” where “charming roses bloom forever and where separations come no more,” offers comfort and reassurance of a heavenly reunion.

Before Parton chose the song for her final farewell, “If We Never Meet Again (This Side of Heaven)” had already passed through the hands of two of country and rock’s biggest legends. Elvis Presley recorded the hymn in 1960 for His Hand in Mine, while Johnny Cash recorded it the following year for Hymns From the Heart. Merle Haggard, Porter Wagoner, and Parton herself have also covered the song.

Beyond its appropriateness and star-studded legacy, though, this song held a deeply personal meaning for Parton. It was the favorite song of her father, Robert Lee Parton, who died in November 2000. Dolly even sang a rendition of the song at his funeral. And even though she was very aware of her association with her song “I Will Always Love You” and the high probability that it would be sung at her own funeral, she was once quoted saying she’d much rather Brumley’s song be performed.

“I’m sure they’ll be playing ‘I Will Always Love You’ when I die, just like they did with Whitney Houston,” Parton told Entertainment Weekly in 2014. “When they picked her coffin up and started in on that song, I started to cry, and I thought, ‘Oh my Lord.’ That’s when it hit me that she was really gone.”

She added, “But there’s a song called ‘If We Never Meet Again.’ It’s an old country-gospel church song that talks about if we never meet this side of heaven again, I will meet you on that beautiful shore. That was my daddy’s favorite. We did sing it at his funeral, and I would like it to be sung at mine.”

Parton’s family honored her request for a small, private funeral, with the service held Aug. 28 at Nashville’s Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, E! News reported. Whether “If We Never Meet Again (This Side of Heaven)” was performed at the service has not been publicly confirmed, and the family has yet to announce a public memorial service.

But the song’s place in Parton’s final wishes gives it an especially poignant connection to her legacy. For a woman whose voice carried millions through heartbreak, joy, and every emotion in between, she chose a song about the promise that goodbye is never truly goodbye.

During an August 2026 interview on The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast, Bialik, who started her career as a child actress on the ’90s series, Blossom, disclosed she didn’t feel at ease attending red carpet events for The Big Bang Theory. She explained that she had stepped away from Hollywood following the end of Blossom in 1995.

“I was out of the industry for 12 years, and when Blossom ended, that was a time in history like when you didn’t hire a $5,000 stylist to dress you. It just wasn’t like that. Like nothing was at that level. No one was wearing false lashes. Spanx didn’t exist. Like what does your body look like the best way you can hide it if you’re not a size two?” said Bialik, who joined the Big Bang Theory cast during its third season, which began airing in 2009.

She said that when she ended up attending the Emmy Awards for The Big Bang Theory, it felt “like a whole other world.”

“There’s like publicists, and like all the photo paparazzi, like, everything was much, much different,” said the actress.

In addition, she said stylists had a difficult time dressing her for award shows while she was starring in The Big Bang Theory, which had a 12-season run until 2019.

“If you’re not a size two or below, you’re very hard to dress. And I remember in those early days like, I had stylists who were like, ‘We just can’t fit a size 6. It’s just we can’t, I’m sorry. I can’t dress you.’ Like what? But that’s what it was like. So it was like a lot of like custom things because you’re maybe a 6 or an 8 and you have breasts and a butt,” said the actress, who holds a PhD in neuroscience.

She clarified that she enjoyed attending award shows alongside her Big Bang Theory castmates, which included Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco.

“When we were nominated as a cast and we got to like go together and be together, that was super fun. But when you’re by yourself, you know, it’s very, very different. It’s fun doing things as a group. It was always fun doing things as a group. Much better than being by yourself,” said Bialik during the podcast interview.
