4 Zodiac Signs Destined to Thrive in Their Golden Years
Some people seem to instinctively know who they are and how to navigate the world from a young age, while others may take time to discover themselves and find their path. But how does one truly thrive? Good things, such as success, often require time and patience. Through the wisdom gained from life experiences, many people become more grounded, more certain of their desires, and less concerned with external expectations and others' opinions. Rather than trying to keep up with what everyone else is doing or forcing something to work, they focus on building a life that feels right for them.
Astrology reveals that certain zodiac signs exhibit a unique pattern when it comes to personal growth and timing. Some people inherently grasp the importance of patience and are open to learning from their experiences. Many of these individuals may be late bloomers, naturally inclined to think long-term. As life progresses, they refine their understanding, gain clarity, and build trust in their choices. With this in mind, here are four zodiac signs that tend to flourish and thrive as they age.

CapricornCapricorns are one of those signs that just seem to enter the world as old souls. They appear to be born with an innate awareness of responsibility and a serious demeanor that can make them feel older. Ruled by Saturn, the planet of discipline and time, they’re comfortable moving at a steady pace to build something that lasts rather than chasing quick results. Because of their devotion to long-term goals (paired with a heavy dose of patience), they tend to create sustainability for themselves, but many of their biggest milestones, whether in career, stability, or finances, unfold later and continue to strengthen with age. Capricorns tend to face significant challenges early in life, but this shows them resilience at a young age and an expansive understanding of their priorities. Because of this ability to understand what is truly a big deal as well as what isn’t, they know what is worthy of investing their time and energy into. They understand there is more to life than just working and tend to shift their values later in life, allocating more time to pleasure and actually feeling present in the lives they have created for themselves. That sense of balance and personal satisfaction is what helps them to thrive later in life.

VirgoVirgos are known for their tendency toward perfection as they pay attention to every little detail, hold high standards, and have little tolerance for mistakes, especially when it comes to themselves. That inner critic can be loud, and in earlier years, it shows up as overthinking, second-guessing, or replaying how something could have gone differently. That’s an immense amount of pressure to navigate at any age, but especially in one's youth, it can become quite prohibitive to taking chances or trying something new. As Virgos age, though, they begin to understand and embrace self-care, which leads them to be kinder to themselves. Decisions don’t require the same level of over-analysis, and there’s a stronger sense of what actually deserves their energy as well as what doesn’t. When they realize that mistakes are simply a part of life and that the burden of the world isn't solely theirs to bear, life feels far more enjoyable and lighter. It can just take time to get to that understanding. The more Virgos learn to care for themselves in the same way they care for others, the more grounded and fulfilled they feel, and that’s where Virgo really begins to thrive.

ScorpioScorpios understand that life is always changing. Their empathy and willingness to face difficulties help them navigate transitions better than most others, even as they feel everything so intensely. Being so sensitive can be challenging, so it takes time to understand their own feelings and energetic boundaries without getting thrown off course. They also tend to protect themselves so intensely that it veers into isolation. With age comes a stronger sense of how to handle this intensity as they learn to trust themselves more, understand their own resilience, and navigate hard times by asking others for help. They begin to let go of old pain more easily because they understand what’s actually worth holding onto and what isn’t. Starting over doesn’t feel as daunting because they’ve already done it in so many forms, and there’s growing comfort and trust in their ability to navigate change without losing themselves in the process. Later in life, Scorpios find their steadiness as their confidence builds and they become more intentional with their energy.

AquariusAquarians are truly unique, as they value their individuality, accept a wide worldview, and rarely feel compelled to follow a traditional path just because it’s expected of them. They think for themselves and march to the beat of their own drums; their independence is a strength, but sometimes being SO different can feel isolating and out of place. It takes time for those born under this sign to fully understand where they actually belong in this world. As they get older, though, that question matters far less as their sense of self and confidence grow. By the time Aquarius hits their golden years, they have fully settled into themselves and no longer feel the need to be understood by everyone else. The strong self-esteem they find later in life helps them thrive as they lean into a life that reflects their values and who they have always been at their core.

Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Reveal 2 New Shows After 'Married to Real Estate' Cancellation
Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson just revealed that two new shows are in the works after HGTV canceled Married to Real Estate.
During an interview with USA Today published on April 20, the married couple shared the big news. The upcoming series are called Home Abroad With Egypt and Mike and Deserving Design.
Sherrod and Jackson did not reveal the network or the premiere dates for their new shows—just that they would release in 2026.
“These shows reflect all the things that are important to us,” Sherrod told the publication. “For those who have watched us for years, they know we believe in giving back and paying it forward. That is what we are passionate about. At the core, these projects speak to our desire to help people, to build legacy and to use real estate and design to build impact.”
View this post on InstagramThe news of Sherrod and Jackson's upcoming shows came on the heels of her teasing a return to TV. In the caption of an Instagram video of herself walking through doors to reveal a gorgeously decorated space filled with tables, she hinted at something big.
"Babies… God is opening doors for YOU that were ordained long before you ever arrived at them," she wrote. "And the best part is they aren’t random opportunities…they are divine appointments."
View this post on InstagramIn the comments, one follower shared, "I need y'all back on TV...I need my kitchen remolded by y'all...You look absolutely Gorrrrrgeous Egypt 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽."
Sherrod then replied, "Stay tuned."
In June 2025, HGTV announced a major shakeup by axing four shows: Farmhouse Fixer, Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate and Izzy Does It.
View this post on Instagram“HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate,” Sherrod confirmed via Instagram on June 24. “While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all—grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other).❤️."
2013 Hit Film Was Just Ranked the 'Most Romantic Sci-Fi Movie' of All Time
Typically, science fiction films tend to focus on topics like feats of technology and the exploration of space. However, Hollywood has produced a few sci-fimovies that examine romantic relationships.
For instance, Collider recently shared a list of the "eight most romantic sci-fi movies of all time." The films on the list included The Girl Who Leapt Through Time from 1983, 2004's 2046, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, also from 2004, and the 2008 animated film, WALL·E.
The Academy Award-nominated 2013 film, Her, was crowned the most romantic sci-fi film ever released. Collider reported that Her took the list's top spot because its story regarding Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) and his AI girlfriend, Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), has become quite timely.
Her has a score of 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 91.
Spike Jonze Revealed How He Came up With 'Her' in 2013The film's director and writer, Spike Jonze, shared how he came up with Her in a 2013 interview at the Academy Theater. He explained that he got the "idea for the film" around 2003 after he visited a website where users could chat with an "artificial intelligence program." Jonze said that he was initially impressed with the website.
"It had this sort of, like, this banter. And I was like for the first 20 seconds, like, 'This thing is talking to me. What?' It was funny. It was responding," recalled Jonze.
He clarified that he soon "realized it was just sort of paroting things that had heard before and was just a very cleverly written program."
"So that was the initial idea, like, 'What if a man falls in love with an artificial intelligence operating system,' just, you know, sort of based on that sort of buzz I got in that first 20 seconds," explained Jonze in the 2013 interview.

McDonald’s Unveiled This World-Famous Burger 59 Years Ago Today
As prices on everything around us continue to rise, more affordable food options like McDonald's remain ever popular in the U.S. To all the haters of fast food, sometimes a quick burger from its drive-thru just hits the spot.
That includes the Golden Arches' legendary Big Mac, which is now celebrating 59 years since it was introduced to customers of the beloved fast-food joint.
On April 22, 1967, a McDonald's franchisee in Pennsylvania unveiled the double-decker burger — for a whopping 45 cents, HISTORY.com reports.
Jim Delligatti was the genius behind the Big Mac, being allowed after some pushback to create a bigger burger using only the chain's ingredients on hand.
McDonald's mastermind Ray Kroc — portrayed by Michael Keaton in the 2016 film The Founder — then took the sandwich national in 1968 and made a fortune from it.
HISTORY.com also reports that it was in 1974 when the Big Mac's iconic assembly was immortalized in an advertising jingle that you might just know by memory: “Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame-seed bun.” Check out a vintage commercial from that year below.
Delligatti died in 2016 at age 98, and obituaries reportedly claimed that he ate at least one of his creations per week for decades.
These days, fans might read about the O.G. price of 45 cents and cringe, given that the Big Mac alone costs roughly $6.72 in 2026. And of course, that total goes up several dollars if you dare make it a meal with fries and a beverage.
On a similar note, when McDonald's first opened in 1955, the price of a seven-ounce soft drink was a meager 10 cents. And the price of a full meal at that time — a regular cheeseburger, fries, and a drink — came out to just 39 cents.
‘I’m a Cleveland Clinic Rheumatologist—This Habit Matters More for Arthritis Than Many People Realize'
When you daydream about your golden years, you likely don’t envision yourself with joint pain. Unfortunately, arthritis is more common than many people realize, especially for people 65 and older. Nearly half of adults 75 and older have arthritis and it’s the leading cause of disability in the U.S.
Arthritis is defined as acute or chronic joint inflammation and symptoms can include joint stiffness, pain, decreased range of motion or joint deformities. Dr. M. Elaine Tse Husni, MD, MPH, a rheumatologist with Cleveland Clinic, explains that there are many different types of arthritis, but the most common type that impacts adults 65 and older is osteoarthritis.
Related: The One Thing You Should Never, Ever Do if You're Living With Arthritis
“Osteoarthritis comes from wear and tear. It happens over time,” Dr. Husni tells Parade. She explains that developing osteoarthritis takes decades but eventually causes joint cartilage to wear away, causing bones to get closer together. This, she says, can cause joint stiffness and pain.
While there are medications that can help with managing osteoarthritis, there’s one everyday habit that’s particularly powerful both in terms of lowering your risk of getting osteoarthritis as well as helping to decrease your pain and stop its progression if you already have it.

The Best Habit for Preventing or Managing OsteoarthritisAccording to Dr. Husni, the most effective way of lowering your risk of osteoarthritis is engaging in daily movement, and daily movement also helps prevent osteoarthritis from getting worse.
“The biggest myth when it comes to arthritis is that moving will make arthritis worse, but actually exercising is the best habit you can have for keeping joints healthy,” Dr. Husni says. Knowing that osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear, this guidance can be confusing to hear. But she explains that consistently moving the body through activities where joint load is manageable keeps ligaments healthy.
Related: The #1 Early Sign of Arthritis Most People Miss, According to a Rheumatologist
Scientific research backs this up, showing that a mix of regular aerobic exercise and weight-bearing exercises increases proteoglycan content, which is one of the major components of the cartilage extracellular matrix, the material that makes up cartilage. In fact, strength training regularly is linked to a decreased rate of space narrowing between the joints.
Dr. Husni notes that consistent exercise is much safer for joint health than going from a sedentary lifestyle to a super active one, which could lead to injury. With this in mind, if you aren’t used to exercising regularly, it’s best to increase exercise gradually over time.
Related: 'I'm a Rheumatologist and This Is the Little-Known Arthritis Tip I Swear By'
How To Exercise Regularly if You Are Experiencing Pain From ArthritisArthritis can be very painful, so if it’s a condition you’ve been diagnosed with, exercising regularly can seem impossible. A great first step is meeting with a rheumatologist. Together, you can discuss potential medications that can help decrease your pain as well as figure out the types of exercise that will help, not hurt.
“Low-impact exercises are the best type of movement for people with osteoarthritis,” Dr. Husni says. Walking, swimming, water aerobics, cycling, tai chi, yoga and Pilates are all examples of low-impact exercise.
Dr. Husni recommends that everyone (both people with osteoarthritis and without it) do some form of strength training a couple of times a week. Scientific research shows that regular strength training lowers the risk of osteoarthritis and can benefit adults who have osteoarthritis. When you start strength training, increase your weight load gradually to avoid putting too much pressure on your joints.
While movement is important, it’s important not to push through pain. If you feel sharp pain when moving your body a certain way (such as when swinging a pickleball racket), it’s important to allow your body time to heal and recover. “It’s important to strike a balance. You want your joints to be well-lubricated [through movement], but you don’t want to overextend them,” Dr. Husni says.
Even though regular movement is helpful for joint health, sometimes medications are needed to relieve pain. With this in mind, Dr. Husni says to talk to your doctor if you have joint pain and regular exercise has not helped.
When it comes to joint health, motion is lotion. Consistently engaging in aerobic exercise and regular strength training is a winning combination when it comes to decreasing your risk for osteoarthritis.

What Is New Kids On The Block Day?New Kids on the Block Day is an annual celebration held on April 24 in honor of the legendary '80s boy band. The day started back on April 24, 1989, when then–Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis officially proclaimed it to recognize the group’s cultural impact.
At the time, the Boston-based band was dominating the charts with their album Hangin’ Tough and helping spark the modern boy band phenomenon, so the proclamation served both as a hometown honor and a reflection of their nationwide popularity. Since then, fans and the members of the band have continued to mark the date each year as a tribute to the group’s legacy and influence on pop music.

It's not uncommon for popular series to sometimes write off popular characters as the actors leave. When Wayne Rogers left M*A*S*H, actor Mike Farrellwas excited to join as a new character, but he had his doubts about replacing the original cast member.
During an appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, Farrell revealed that he had his initial doubts when he was cast in the hit '70s series as Captain B. J. Hunnicutt for Season 4. At the time, his character was written into M*A*S*H after Rogers' abrupt departure as the well-loved Captain Trapper John McIntyre.
Farell admitted that when he first learned about landing the role, he "screamed aloud" and "ran down" to his car. The news felt like a dream come true for the actor, and he spoke with Alan Aldaabout "his hopes for it, and his dreams, and his intentions, and about the hopes for this character, and what it could be, what it could mean after Trapper left."
Amid the joy, Farrell was inherently worried, knowing he was ultimately replacing Rogers in a central role. He knew the M*A*S*H ensemble cast had gotten close over the course of three seasons, and he was coming in as a newbie.
“M*A*S*H is thought of as being a kind of family, a group that really cares about each other, and they’re very connected,” Farrell explained. “And I thought, ‘Oh, am I going to be the stepchild who forced out one of their brethren?’”

To his surprise, Farrell walked onto set and was welcomed with open arms. The first person to shake his hand and say "Welcome, Mike. Happy to have you here," was Gary Burghoff. Farrell would end up becoming a M*A*S*H fan favorite and played the role for eight years.
According to Remind Magazine, Rogers left feeling like his character, Captain Trapper John McIntyre, was being pushed to the sidelines. He joined the series, excited to work with Alda, but as the series progressed, a bigger emphasis was put on Hawkeye (Alda). Rogers ultimately felt he would feel dissatisfied if he stayed on the show, and was able to leave, seeing as he never signed an official contract.

1967 Hit Was Just Ranked the 'Top Rock Song of All Time'
Rock bands have consistently produced countless hits, making it difficult to narrow down the best songs from the genre. However, Ultimate Classic Rock did just that and recently released a list of the 100 best rock songs of all time.
The ranking, published on April 22, featured classics like Fleetwood Mac's 1977 hit, "Dreams," David Bowie's "Heroes" from 1977, Pink Floyd's 1975 "Wish You Were Here," the 1986 song, "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, Prince and the Revolution's 1986 "Kiss," "Purple Haze" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience from 1967, Queen's 1975 "Bohemian Rhapsody," Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" from 1975, 1980's "Once in a Lifetime"by Talking Heads, and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," released in 1991.
Ultimate Classic Rock's top five songs included Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" from 1975, The Beatles' 1967 classic "A Day in the Life," Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" from 1965, and 1971's "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin.
The Beatles' 1967 hit single "Strawberry Fields Forever" took home the title of the best rock song ever released. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the song deserved the list's top spot because of its unique production and how much it has influenced the rock genre.
John Lennon & Paul McCartney Shared Details About the SongThe official Beatles TikTok account shared a video of John Lennon discussing writing "Strawberry Fields Forever." He shared that he began writing the song while in Spain during the production of the 1967 film, How I Won the War, wherein he played the character Gripweed. Lennon, who died in 1980 at the age of 40, said it was a relatively long process to come up with the iconic tune.
"It took me a long time to write it. I was writing bits and bits and bits," recalled the musician.
He also shared that he "just wanted the lyrics to be like conversational."
"I just wanted it to be like we're talking and then I just happen to be singing, you know like that. And it was very quiet," said Lennon.
In a separate interview, Lennon's bandmate Paul McCartney noted that Lennon was inspired to write the 1967 single "because he used to live next door to this place called Strawberry Fields," a Salvation Army children's home, in Liverpool. According to McCartney, he would visit the real Strawberry Fields with Lennon.
"It was just his little garden to play in. So whenever I would visit him, and we'd go past, and he'd say, 'This is Strawberry Fields,'" recalled McCartney, now 83.

Originally released in Sweden in October 1961, Through a Glass Darkly made its U.S. debut on March 13, 1962, marking the first installment in Bergman's "Trilogy of Faith". While not a mainstream box office hit, the film was a critical triumph, earning a rare score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. During the 1962 awards season, the film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, attesting to the film's beauty and Bergman's artistic prowess.
Through a Glass Darkly is a psychological drama set on a remote island. The film follows Karin, a young schizophrenic woman who was recently released from a mental hospital, as she vacations with her husband, father and brother. 2007 Hit Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of the Century’
It wasn't a box office smash when it first arrived, but over time, one 2007 Western quietly earned a reputation as one of the most striking films of its era.
When The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford premiered in theaters in 2007, it wasn’t your typical Western. Led by Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck, the film leans into mood and character over action, taking its time with a story about fame, obsession and betrayal. It didn’t dominate at the box office, but over the years, it’s become a favorite among critics — now named as one of the “best movies of the 21st century” by Rolling Stone.
Based on Ron Hansen's 1983 novel of the same name, the movie dramatizes the relationship between Jesse James (Pitt) and Robert Ford (Affleck), focusing on the events that led up to James' assassination. The movie was directed by Andrew Dominik, and also featured Sam Shepard, Mary-Louise Parker, Paul Schneider, Jeremy Renner, Zooey Deschanel and Sam Rockwell in supporting roles.

After the film had its world premiere at the 64th Venice International Film Festival, it was theatrically released in the United States on Sept. 21, 2007, by Warner Bros. Pictures. Though it received positive reviews, it was criticized for its runtime (clocking in at about 160 minutes) and bombed at the box office. The Assassination of Jesse James earned two Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actor for Affleck and Best Cinematography for Deakins. In addition, Affleck was nominated for a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and a Critics' Choice Award, while Pitt won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor.
Actors Garret Dillahunt, Casey Affleck, Mary-Louise Parker, Producers Dede Gardner, Jules Daly, Director Andrew Dominik and Brad Pitt arrive at The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford premiere at the Ziegfeld Theater on September 18, 2007, in New York.Since its release almost 20 years ago, it has gained a large fan following, with many of them organizing re-releases of the film under the "Jesse James Revival" banner. Pitt even revealed, a decade after the film's release, that The Assassination of Jesse James is his "favorite movie."
"My favorite movie is the worst-performing film of anything I've done, The Assassination of Jesse James," the 62-year-old actor told GQ in 2017. "If I believe something is worthy, then I know it will be worthy in time to come."
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford can be rented on Google Play Movies, Apple TV, Fandango at Home and Amazon Prime Video for $5.99.

‘Sopranos’ Star Opens Up About Keeping Life-Changing Health Diagnosis Secret
Jamie-Lynn Sigler is opening up about the difficult decision to keep her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis private for 14+ years. In a new interview with Us Weekly, the former Sopranos star reflected on why she chose to keep the life-changing condition out of the public eye for so long and how it impacted her personal and professional life.
"My brother was suffering from terrible OCD, but we were told, 'Let’s not tell anybody.' My mom was always like, 'Put lipstick on and say everything’s fine.' Your problems are not for anybody else to judge, and it’ll keep you safe," Sigler told Us Weekly in an interview published on Wednesday, April 22.
The actress went on to say that keeping her health a secret ended up taking its toll.
"I was always acting. I had no idea what authenticity felt like. Everything was a lie and for show. I didn’t even know who I was. All these secrets had piled up, and I was suffocating. I was constantly in fight or flight and survival mode. I’m sure that it contributed to a lot of the flare-ups I experienced," she told the outlet.
Sigler, 44, was diagnosed with MS during the third season of the hit HBO show. She revealed the diagnosis in an interview with People magazine back in 2020.
"I wasn’t ready until now," Sigler told the outlet of the decision to reveal her illness. "You’d think that after all these years, somebody would be settled with something like this, but it’s still hard to accept."
View this post on InstagramDuring the interview, Sigler shared some of her symptoms, explaining that every day things, like walking up stairs, was frustrating for her. She opened up about her diagnosis shortly after tying the knot with Cutter Dykstra.
"I'm at a point in my life with my son, with my new marriage, it’s a new me. I don’t want to hold a secret where it feels like I have something to be ashamed of or have something to hide. It’s part of me, but it’s not who I am," she said of the timing of her reveal. "I don’t know what’s to come. But I’m excited for the first time in a long time,” she says. “I’ve got my brain and my heart and I’ve prepared myself for everything that could happen. But I’ve got an amazing husband, the best son, and I hope that we can make more babies and just keep having fun. I’m the luckiest girl in the world."
In 2024, Sigler teamed up with actress Christina Applegate for a podcast called MeSsy. Applegate was diagnosed with MS in 2021. The women discuss MS and every day life on the pod, which has been very well received.
'90s Star Jennifer Love Hewitt Debuts a Dramatic Hair Transformation Fans Are Loving
Jennifer Love Hewitt was clearly waiting for a change, and now that she's on hiatus from filming 9-1-1, that's exactly what she did. And she seems to be loving the new 'do because the 47-year-old former brunette has shared two different photos of the hair transformation in less than 24 hours.
The first photo, which Hewitt shared to Instagram on Tuesday, Apr. 21, was a close-up of the Heartbreakers star, giving us a good look at her fresh color and style.
With a minimal no-makeup look and a neutral expression, all the emphasis was on her hair, which is now shoulder-length and honey-blonde.
In the caption, Hewitt wrote, "We always do a hair change for hiatus! I loved time with my girls and this new look @nikkilee901 @tarynhoustonn @seama901"
View this post on InstagramJust two hours after posting the first picture, Hewitt reposted a video to Instagram showing the hair change, with a before-and-after transition that was initially shared by one of the three stylists she tagged in the first post. It was also shared by the salon, Nine Zero One, which also boasts celebrity clients like Emma Roberts, Selena Gomez, and Julianne Hough.
View this post on InstagramIn the newest share, Hewitt did the voiceover of a very viral clip from Legally Blonde where Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) says, "I think I dropped something on the floor that I need to pick up."
Hewitt then bends over with her pre-colored hair out of view, and when she snaps back up into the frame, she fluffs her perfectly colored and curled new hair as Fergie's "London Bridge" plays.
The simple but effective transition had Hewitt's fans going ga-ga for her new hair with one calling it "The perfect honey blonde 🍯"
Another weighed in, calling her "Beautiful absolutely beautiful 😻"
"Literally she looks so good😍" another wrote.
Country Singer Who Was Born Today Didn’t Have a Say Until This Grammy Hit
Glen Campbell was born on April 22 in Arkansas. He played with the Beach Boys, and other legends. Campbell revealed which hit changed his career, putting him in the driving seat instead of taking orders.
‘Gentle on My Mind’ Was Pivotal for Glen CampbellThe True Grit actor played guitar on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and more. "Oh, I did their sessions from '64 to the end of '67," the singer told Gary James, according to Classic Bands. "The last thing I worked on with 'em was the 'Pet Sounds' album. I was on the road with 'em maybe a year, year and a half, off and on."

"Gentle On My Mind" is about the singer always traveling but always thinking about a loved one. The lyrics beautifully paint the picture of this person in the back roads in his mind.
"I didn't have hardly any say up until 'Gentle On My Mind,'" Campbell said. "That was my first project to go into the studio and do what I wanted to do. I never was one to rock the boat."
The country song won a Grammy for country, and Campbell outsold The Beatles in 1969. Although Campbell wrote some of his songs, John Hartford wrote this banjo-forward hit.
Hartford said he wrote the song in 30 minutes and was inspired by his tumultuous marriage and Doctor Zhivago. "I think the melody is the most important part of [writing]," the songwriter once said, according to Paste Magazine. The words later came to him.
Campbell died in 2011 at 81 years old after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, leaving behind a great catalogue of work. He had nine children.
