This 1969 Rock Classic Hit No. 1 — But It Was a Cover
It's unsurprising that Elvis Presley, AKA the King of Rock and Roll, has dozens of rock hits. However, some fans might not realize that a few of his most famous and beloved works weren't originals.
For instance, his 1969 song, “Suspicious Minds," which reached the number 1 Billboard's Hot 100 spot during November 1969, was written by Mark James, who released his original take on the classic in 1968, as reported by American Songwriter.
Mark James Discussed Writing 'Suspicious Minds' in a 2014 InterviewIn a 2014 red carpet interview with Artisan News, James discussed writing Presley's big hit before being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
"I wrote it for myself years ago. I had a record out in '68. Same arrangement," said James. "And so that's why I use the same arrangement hoping [Presley would] do the same thing and make it greater when he came in American Studios."
According to James, he "knew the song was perfect for" Presley, who was 42 when he died in 1977.
While speaking to Artisan News, James also shared his thoughts about the lasting legacy of "Suspicious Minds."
"I'm really honored about that. Matter of fact, 'Suspicious Minds' is now the all-time biggest single ever of Elvis Presley. That's a great honor. Yeah, Elvis had a lot of great songs," said the "Always on My Mind" songwriter, who died in 2024 at the age of 83.
Mark James Said He Appreciated Elvis Presley's Take on 'Suspicious Minds'While speaking on stage before an audience in 2021, James said he appreciated Presley's take on "Suspicious Minds."
"The bottom line is yeah, they did record it. They tried to make it greater and they did, providing Elvis would sing it, and get a great performance and he did," said James while holding a microphone.
James also said the success of Presley's recording benefited him.
"It was number one in 27 countries and Elvis was on top again and so was I," said James with a laugh.

Costco's 5-Piece Gourmet Gift Set Is Perfect For Celebrating a Special Someone
My mom has taught me a lot over the years, like how to write a thank-you note, how to trust my gut, and, perhaps most importantly, how to maintain a very healthy appreciation for Costco.
This is a woman who treats a warehouse run like a well-planned excursion, and she's never steered me wrong. So when Mother's Day rolls around, it only feels right to head straight to the source and see what treasures are tucked between the oversized snack packs and industrial-sized olive oil. Whittard Mother's Day Tea Gift Box, $69.99 at CostcoCostco
The gourmet gift sets alone, like this Whittard Mother's Day Tea Gift Box, are enough to make you feel like you've really outdone yourself. The beautifully-packaged treats look far more expensive than they actually are (a Costco specialty, of course).
If your mom's idea of bliss involves a cozy corner, a good cup of tea, and a little something sweet on the side, this Whittard of Chelsea gift set feels like a no-brainer. It features two loose-leaf teas (English Rose and classic Earl Grey), plus a pair of indulgent biscuits that sound almost too good to share (strawberries and cream, and Earl Grey).

The whole set yields around 40 cups of tea, so it isn't just a one-and-done situation; it's something she can savor over time. All it takes is a teaspoon of loose-leaf tea, a cup of freshly boiled water, and a few minutes to steep to her liking.
Even better, it comes with a one-cup tea infuser, so everything mom (or any important woman in your life) needs for the perfect steep is right there in the box, beautifully packaged and finished with a bow for that extra giftable touch.
You could easily make this the whole gift, or pair it with a cute tea kettle if you want to add on a little something more. There's also a really fun MacKenzie-Childs-inspired tea cup candle at Aldi that would kind of be the perfect accompaniment to this gift set, and it's only $8.99.
Of course, whatever you choose, Mom's gonna love it, because it's from you.

1992 Rap Hit Inspired by a Popular '90s Beauty Trend Became a Timeless Anthem
As soon as you hear the opening line, "Oh my God, Becky, look at her butt," you know you're about to listen to "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot (aka Anthony Ray), one of the most recognizable rap songs ever. What you may not know about the song, known for its humor and bold "I like big butts" lyrics, is it was a reaction and a rejection of a '90s beauty trend.
During the early '90s, a major beauty trend favoring an ultra-thin, sweaty, and kinda dirty aesthetic took off. Sir Mix-A-Lot took notice and didn't like what he was seeing or the ways he was hearing people talk about women with curvier body types. The word "body shaming" wasn't around yet, but that's exactly what Mix-A-Lot aimed to stand up against with this song.
"Basically, pop culture was waif-thin, heroin addict, big hair, fake boobs—you know, that was what they thought beautiful was," Mix-A-Lot explains in an interview with NPR. "And because of the way it was discussed publicly, it made women who had naturally curvy bodies ... run around with sweaters wrapped around their waist."
Iconic supermodel Kate Moss was the primary face of the trend, particularly through her Calvin Klein campaigns in the early '90s. This beauty trend even got the nickname "heroin chic."
Here's Kate Moss in the '90s:
So Sir Mix-A-Lot got to working on a "body positivity" song, but we didn't have those words yet then either.
“We saw one of the Spuds MacKenzie ads for Budweiser during the Super Bowl,” Mix-A-Lot explained in a Vice interview. “You’d see these girls in the ad: Each one was shaped like a stop sign, with big hair [and] straight up-and-down bird legs. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I was so sick of that s**t.”
“When [men are] crooning to women about how beautiful they are in an R&B song, the ladies you see in the video don’t reflect what those guys like,” Mix-A-Lot explained. “Every time an R&B video was on, I heard women say, ‘I just saw him down in Oakland, and his girls wasn’t like that.’ That made me think that this was more than a funny song, and it wrote itself.”

The song “Baby Got Back” was originally released on May 7, 1992, as the second single from Sir Mix-A-Lot's album, Mack Daddy. On April 11, 1992, the song debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and it hit No. 1 on July 4, 1992. The timeless anthem remained at the top for five weeks and ultimately won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
With "Baby Got Back," Sir Mix-A-Lot started nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Not only did the song and its lyrics spark conversation and a little controversy, it became a defining '90s anthem.
The song has been widely referenced across pop culture, too. For example, the song ignited an awkward but funny scene in Charlie's Angels (2000), made for a hilarious storyline in a memorable episode of Friends (2002), and even showed up on S3 of The Masked Singer (2020).
Of course, decades later "Baby Got Back" still resonates. The nostalgic '90s hit is one of those songs that everyone knows. It's played at parties and events, and it's as recognizable to a Gen Z teen as to a Gen X grandmother. Plus, now that we have language to talk about body positivity, the song has been given new life within those conversations.
It's impossible to imagine a world without "Baby Got Back"—the song has stood the test of time and helped drive a confidence-boosting cultural shift for women throughout the decades.

'Chicago Fire's Jocelyn Hudon on Lyla Novak's Trust Issues and Friendship with Violet Mikami (Exclusive)
One of the most soul-satisfying relationships on Chicago Fireis that between Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) and Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) because we’ve been able to watch it develop over time and because the two women recognize that they have something special in their friendship.
Novak arrived as a new paramedic following Sylvie Brett's (Kara Killmer) exit in the "Something About Her" episode in April 2024. At that time, Novak was a fill in on the ambulance, but when Violet saw how well they worked together, she asked Novak to take the job permanently, which Novak was reluctant to. She had an aversion to commitment. But she eventually said yes, becoming a series regular the following season.
On tonight’s “Instinct” episode, the bond between the two women is tested when the paramedics find themselves in a dangerous situation after a man, initially seeking help for a pregnant woman, takes them hostage at gunpoint. The trust they’ve built between them helps them survive, and nothing shows that more than at the beginning of the episode when Novak talks to Violet about trusting her.
Apparently, Novak is still thinking about a conversation from the previous episode in which Violet admitted to Novak that she slept with Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente) and hadn’t told her, but she did it when she thought Novak was interested in Chicago Med’s Dr. Frost (Darren Barnet). Novak is hurt that Violet didn’t tell her sooner, and she wants to express her feelings.
Jocelyn HudonPhoto credit: Madelene Lisella
“I think for Novak, based on where she came from, she was a little non-committal and flighty, and she didn’t want to stay at one firehouse or the other,” Hudon exclusively tells Parade of her early days on Chicago Fire. “I think for her evolution, staying at 51 and having a conversation instead of maybe running away from it is a big development for her. So, I think in 17 when Violet says, ‘I slept with Vasquez,’ Novak’s kind of like, ‘Ugh,’ and then it just weighs on her.”
But again, back to their having built a mutual trust, for the women it’s sisters before misters, and Novak isn’t going to let what happened between Violet and Vasquez destroy what they’ve built, and so she approaches Violet with her concerns.
“For her to just rip off the Band-Aid and say how she feels, I like that she’s like, ‘You don’t have to say anything, I just had to say it,’” Hudon continues. “I think that was a big deal for her, and I think that’s a big evolution for the character. To just even say how she’s feeling instead of running away from it, I think she trusts Violet as a partner, but I think she was like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re partners and we’re also best friends.’ But I think that made her doubt the friendship part of it, so she just wanted to make sure that Violet was on the same page as her, and just flush that out before going into any other situations.”
Below, Hudon talks with Parade about what's coming for Novak and the other changes happening at Firehouse 51 in Chicago Fire.

We’ve watched Novak date Dr. Frost, which looked like it was a great relationship, but then she broke it off with him. And then she seemed kind of interested in Vasquez, but not enough that it kept Violet from sleeping with him. What happened in her past? What is the backstory that they told you or that you created for her that makes her this flighty?
I know from the episode where there was the suicide last year, I don’t know exactly what happened, but I know they lost a parent, and based on what we’ve seen already, Novak had to support her sister Heidi and her brother Will. I don’t know if having that kind of troubled beginning made her less committed in the present, but I know she is committed to her job now, and she found her family at 51, so maybe I think it might come with time and with trust. I don’t really know exactly why she is like that, but I hope to find out.
Speaking of her sister, she has reconnected with her as well, so it seems like she is making progress on several fronts, and she wants to have her family back in her life as well.
Agreed. I think having that episode where Heidi was introduced this season was huge, to bring that into Novak’s character’s life. I think that was really cool to see, and maybe gave us a peek inside her mind. Because from the firehouse perspective, Novak’s kind of the wild one, but then in her personal life, you’re like, "Oh, she’s the parent here, and Heidi’s more of the wild one." It was cool to learn about the character.
Is there anything about Novak that you relate to on a personal level?
The martial arts, for sure. I do martial arts as well. I think I’m funny, goofy, light, like she is, but I also take my job very seriously, like she does. So there’s the "work hard/play hard" aspect of her personality that I also have. I think helping other people, I like doing as well. I think being in a service industry and taking care of other people, I like doing that in my personal life. I think those are the main things that I relate to about her.
There’s a lot you relate to, so could you see playing the character for several more seasons?
I remember when I got this audition, I was like, “This is for me.”
This role on the ambulance, it’s gone through several changes, starting with the death of Shay, and then there have been a couple of other characters, do you think it’s because it’s hard for people to spend so much time Chicago, away from home? Why do you think there has been so much cast turnover?
I don’t know, but this is my dream job. The writers and showrunners give me such great material. I love Chicago, I love being part of an ensemble cast, I love being part of the Wolf family. It’s just a dream for me personally. They also give me so much: They give me comedy, drama, action, it’s like the perfect job. I’m never bored; I’m always inspired by every script they give me. I’m like [Makes a panting sound.]. And I don’t know if that will ever go away, even if I’m here for 14 more years, but every script I come at it with the same amount of excitement. But yeah, I love when they’re like, "ooh, today you’re funny, today you’re crying, today you’re this," yeah, they just give me everything, which I’m very grateful for.
Is there anything you would like to see for her future? Would you like her to get into a committed relationship?
Honestly, Episode 18 was something where I was like, "Oh, they should take Violet and Novak and have them get abducted, that’s what they should do," and then they did it. And I was like, "Did you read my brain, because that’s what I wanted to see?" So it was cool that they somehow came up with that. I loved her with Frost, so I don’t know. I don’t know if that can come back, but I loved that.
Novak’s job is very important; she’s saving people’s lives. Talk about what it’s like. Is the jargon hard to learn?
No, the jargon’s been all right. I was also a lifeguard for a little bit. In Canada, it’s called Bronze Cross, Bronze Med. And then the NLS training, and then I worked at a camp as a lifeguard, so I felt like I had a base knowledge of CPR, lifeguarding, and lifesaving. I love doing the medical training with Michelle; it’s super fun, and it’s so specific.
But yeah, it’s a lot of C-collars, IVs, backboard, putting them on the stretcher, EKG, the leads, ventilating. I like criking, that was really fun when we got to crike that guy last year. Because you learn the medical, the why, it makes acting it out more tangible if you know how to do it for real. But yeah, the medical training is great for me, I don’t know, because it’s hands-on, it just goes into my brain easily.
Doyou watch other medical shows?
Yes, I do, but I’ve watched procedurals my entire life. I was a kid watching procedurals, and my parents were like, “What is wrong with you?” But I’ve loved procedurals my whole life, so it’s cool to be on one.

The other big change in the firehouse has been the changing of chiefs. First, Boden (Eamonn Walker) and now Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) are gone. Does that affect Novak at all?
I think it’s not affecting her right now because she’s so separate from it. She’s living off in her own land. That’s like a Severide-Hopkins storyline, but I think she would be very concerned if anything happened to Severide . That would affect all of them. So, I think she would just be like, “Okay, leave him alone.”
Is there a chance that Pascal could come back?
Stay tuned. I loved working with Dermot. He’s such a great energy for the group. He’s just such an iconic, talented actor, and it was really cool when he joined the cast. I was like, "Oh, my God!" Because My Best Friend’s Wedding was one of my favorite movies growing up, so it was really cool to get to work with him.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.

This New Trader Joe's Find Has Everyone Saying the Same Thing
Trader Joe's just debuted a new item that has customers swooning. The Parmesan Tapenade recently started popping up on store shelves, and it is quickly building a significant fan base.
The new Parmesan Tapenade takes the basic concept of an olive tapenade and elevates it with the addition of Parmesan cheese and a few other tweaks. The result is a home run that has customers racing back for more.
In the Trader Joe's subreddit, one customer initiated a thread on the Parmesan Tapenade. "It is GOOD," the Reddit user wrote. That person described it as "Slightly spicy, garlicky, and the cheese is so tasty." They noted that they ate it with sea salt pita chips.
The photo of the new tapenade indicates that it includes Parmesan cheese, oil, olives, jalapenos, garlic, and herbs. The ingredient list indicates the mix specifically includes Manzanilla olives along with red wine vinegar, cilantro, sea salt, thyme, oregano, sunflower oil, and olive oil.
The original poster wasn't the only one who had already tried the Parmesan Tapenade and found it delightful. Everybody who has tried it seems to be thoroughly hooked.
"Grabbed today, opened it while making dinner. It's so good! Ready to buy another tub or make my own," one fan shared.
View this post on InstagramWhen one Reddit user asked how "cilantro-y" it tastes, someone noted they hadn't even realized there was cilantro in it when they ate it.
Someone else questioned how "olive-y" it tastes. The response was that it didn't have a very strong olive taste, as the "cheese and garlic are the flavor forward ingredients." In addition, that person noted, it's "Not super spicy, but definitely [has] a little kick."
"WHY must this place torture me so much," questioned someone else.
An additional commenter noted that the Parmesan Tapenade "tastes good warmed up too." Several pizza-related suggestions popped up in the thread, and someone else suggested it would "slap with some steamed or boiled artichoke."
The Trader Joe's Parmesan Tapenade is also starting to hit Instagram as customers discover it. As was the case on Reddit, the consensus from those who have tried it seems to be that it's delicious. Many who are just learning about it now seem quite eager to get their hands on it.
The containers of Parmesan Tapenade contain 8 ounces and are priced at $4.99. One person noted that in their store, it was located near all of the cheeses.

A Seasonal M&M’s Flavor That Fans ‘Can’t Stop Eating’ Is Back at Target
A sweet M&M's flavor is making a limited comeback after fans thought it would be long gone for the season.
Originally released in 2023, M&M's White Chocolate Marshmallow Treat flavor has become synonymous with spring, as the brand has brought the variety back on several occasions in festive, Easter-themed packaging. The line usually begins to appear on shelves in early February and disappears around the time of the early spring celebrations, but this year it looks to be hanging around a little longer at one retailer—just sans holiday packaging.
Earlier this week, an eagle-eyed shopper spotted share-size bags of M&M's White Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy in-store and excitedly posted about the "goodie" online.
M&M's Marshmallow Crispy Flavor Is Back—Here's WhereThe returning favorite is M&M's take on the popular dessert bars made with marshmallow and Rice Krispies cereal. According to an official description, the variety features a white chocolate shell filled with a marshmallow-flavored, crunchy rice crisp center.

Fans agree, with one reviewer noting that the variety is sweeter than a regular M&M and "delicious."
"My favorite," a second wrote online. "It tastes like Lucky Charms."
"I can't stop eating them!" a third wrote, noting the candies "taste kind of like a Rice Krispies treat but better—super crunchy and sweet."
View this post on InstagramAlthough this version has a slightly different name and M&M's colors, we're pretty certain that the White Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy and White Chocolate Marshmallow Treat M&M's should be pretty indistinguishable from one another—aside from the aesthetics, of course.
The newer bags lack the festive Easter themes and pastel candy assortment, opting for a plainer light blue bag and a trio of M&M's colors: white, light blue, and deep blue.
So far, M&M's White Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy flavor has been spotted at select Target stores, where it will be available exclusively for about $5.79 per share-size bag (presumably for a limited time this summer based on the product's online listing).
Parade reached out to a spokesperson for comment.

Who Won ‘Jeopardy’ Today? (April 22, 2026) Plus, the Final Jeopardy Answer
There are three things guaranteed in the world today: Death, taxes, and Jeopardy! being on. Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people's trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. And so many of the greats to grace those podiums started by simply watching the show as it aired on weekdays, as millions have done for over half a century.

In an Instagram post, the streaming service shared a behind-the-scenes look at the actors, writing, “Sharing a little behind the scenes filming interviews and promos for the All My Children channel!”
Outside of the United States, All My Children are currently streaming on Beyond TV+, Plex and Pluto TV Canada.
The platform also reassured U.S. viewers that interviews and additional content would be available ‘soon,’ though specifics, including a release date, have not yet been announced.
All My Children aired on ABC from January 5, 1970 until its final episode on September 23, 2011. The series was briefly revived by Prospect Park, which produced a 43-episode reboot for Hulu before it was canceled again.
Former All My Children star Kelly Riparecently revealed that she and her husband and former co-star Mark Consuelosare developing a follow-up film series for Lifetime. While details remain limited, Ripa shared that two films are currently in development. Lucci has also indicated she would be open to reprising her role as Erica Kane if the opportunity arises.
Ripa previously attempted to reboot the series for ABC with the primetime project Pine Valley. The official description of the series shared, “A young journalist with a secret agenda comes to expose the dark and murderous history of a town named Pine Valley only to become entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.”
While it remains unclear whether All My Children will officially return, the reunion, and new content from Beyond TV, offer longtime fans a nostalgic glimpse back into Pine Valley.
This 1972 'Maude' Episode Became One of the Most Controversial in Sitcom History
The first season of the classic sitcom Maude tackled a topic that not many would have dared to cover with its main characters. In the early '70s, certain topics like sex and abortion were considered taboo, with one of Maude's episodes having caused immense backlash after airing.
Maude was created by Norman Learas a spinoff sitcom of the popular series All in the Family, instead focusing on the well-loved character Maude Findlay (Bea Arthur). It focused on Maude, a political liberal, outspoken middle-aged woman living in suburban New York with her fourth husband, Walter (Bill Macy). The sitcom quickly established itself for combining comedy with social issues, which was groundbreaking for TV.
In Season 1, the sitcom released a two-part episode in November 1972 that brought the topic of abortion into family homes. "Maude's Dilemma" had a storyline that focuses on Maude discovering she's pregnant at 47 years and stands at an emotional crossroads of what to do. Her father encourages her to get an abortion, while her husband insists he'll support any decision she makes. He also promises to get a vasectomy.

According to producer Rod Parker, to The Chicago Tribune, "The funny thing is that initially we weren't even thinking abortion ... The group Zero Population Growth announced they were giving a $10,000 prize for comedies that had something to do with controlling population, so everyone came in with ideas for vasectomies."
Producer Norman Lear was also against the idea of Maude having a miscarriage or a false pregnancy. He felt it was a cop out and was already done in All in the Family, and believed that, given Maude's age, an abortion made more sense.
Part 1 of "Maude's Dilemma" aired on Nov. 14 on a majority of CBS's network affiliates except for two. The episode's subject matter led to almost 7,000 letters with a protest by the United States Catholic Conference. Reruns of the episode led to over 40 affiliate networks banning the premiere of the episode and a spike in letters. It just so happens that the episode was also released two months before Roe v. Wade.
The Muade episode has since become iconic for bringing the topic of pro-choice into the space of primetime TV and the homes of its viewers. It wasn't the only controversial episode, when the sitcom aired "The Election" with Maude advocating for premarital sex and "The Gay Bar" tackling homosexuality.
Margaret Atwood Shares a Squeal-Worthy Tease About ‘The Testaments'
There is still a lot to look forward to on The Testaments. While there are some major changes from the book — such as Daisy definitely not being Baby Nichole — the story is clearly brewing for a rebellion. The timeline has shifted from Margaret Atwood’s novel, written in 2019, but it doesn’t sound like she minds all that much.
Atwood has only had good things to say about The Handmaid’s Tale spinoff, and while chatting with Slash Film, she had an exciting tease. It turns out that we’ll get to see her on the screen again!
Margaret Atwood Gets a Cameo on ‘The Testaments’Atwood revealed that she will have a cameo during the spinoff series. She didn’t share any other details than that, which means we have no idea when she will appear on the series. Nor will she offer details about who she plays.
All Atwood shares is that she had the chance to work with Ann Dowd, who plays Aunt Lydia. With that clue, it’s possible that she plays an Aunt, although she doesn’t seem to be in the school, as we would have seen her by now. Another comment hints that she is an Aunt, as she shared, "I have a cameo in [The Testaments], though I can't say as what, except that it's scowly."
Author cameos are growing more and more popular. Stephen King has certainly helped to boost the wish for them, but authors like Diana Gabaldon, Stephanie Meyer, and even Lee Child have made cameos in the past. There are sure to be more to come as there is a growing voice for authors to be more involved in the TV and movie production of their works.
THE TESTAMENTS - “Precious Flowers” - In the halls of Aunt Lydia's premarital preparatory academy, the finest in Gilead, Agnes is assigned to mentor a new Pearl Girl, and a fragile alliance begins.Disney/Russ Martin
Not the First Margaret Atwood CameoThis isn’t the first time Atwood has cameoed in work based on her books. She makes a cameo during The Handmaid’s Tale series premiere, while the characters are at the Red Center. Atwood plays an Aunt, who chastizes June, even slapping her, during a shaming circle moment.
Many fans likely expected to see her return to The Testaments because of that cameo. One of the best moments to connect back to the first one would have been during the shaming circle moment on The Testaments Season 1 Episode 2.
So, while fans are disappointed that there has been a major change to the story, it doesn’t sound like Atwood is all that bothered by it. We can just treat the two formats as completely separate.

Who Plays Anne Hathaway's Love Interest in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'? Why the Australian Actor Looks Familiar
While some were disappointed that Adrian Grenier wasn't reprising his role as Andy Sachs's (Anne Hathaway) boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada2, Patrick Brammall probably isn't one of them. Despite not even auditioning for the role, the Australian actor is thrilled to step into the role of Peter, her newest love interest.
"They asked me to audition, and I was like, 'Look, I don't have time.' As an actor, you put down tape all the time... I have been around the block," he told Today'sSheinelle Jones and Willie Geist. "I was busy, I had to be dad -- it was my wife's turn to work, and I had to be dad, and it would be inconvenient if I got it. Also, no one's going to give me this role."
However, to his surprise, they did give him the role. Shortly after he declined to audition, director David Frankel sent him a text begging him to reconsider. Frankel informed Brammall that the studio, Hathaway, and "America" wanted him to audition.
After getting over the shock of being aggressively pursued for the part, he agreed. "Yes, absolutely, when do you need me?" he recalled responding.
With 59 projects under his belt, Brammall's face is probably familiar, even if you can't place him. His first major screen role was playing medical student Matt Marione in the 2004 Australian TV movie The Alice, which he reprised in the spin-off of the same name. Like Chris Hemsworth, Heath Ledger, Isla Fisher, and other Australian stars, he also spent time on the soap Home and Away early in his career.
While he became popular in his home country for playing quirky characters, American audiences were introduced to him when he guest-starred on two sitcoms in 2016: New Girl and Life in Pieces.
He earned an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AACTA) for Best Performance in a Television Drama for the Australian comedy series No Activity, in which he starred from 2015 to 2018. He and the show's creator, Trent O'Donnell, developed an American version, which Brammall also starred in from 2017 to 2021.
Those with kids may recognize his voice for a very unexpected reason. Brammall has voiced Uncle Rad, the uncle of Bluey and Bingo, on the uber-popular kids' show, Bluey, since 2020.
View this post on InstagramBetween 2019 and 2024, Brammall played Andy Bouchard, Kristen's (Katja Herbers) husband, on the drama Evil. Since 2022, he's starred with his wife, Harriet Dyer, in Colin from Accounts, the series they created together.
