Costco Just Dropped a New Kirkland Signature Snack, and Fans Are Raving

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 8:25pm

Costco shoppers are always on the lookout for a new snack, especially when it comes from the Kirkland Signature line. At Costco, there is always something fresh showing up in aisles that keeps members coming back. Now, Costco dropped a brand-new Kirkland Signature snack that rivals a popular low-calorie find.

The buzz started with sightings of a simple but addictive-looking snack that has people comparing it to popular name brands and even calling it better than some long-time favorites. Early reactions from shoppers suggest this might be one of those understated Costco drops that quickly build a loyal following.

New Kirkland Signature Sea Salt Popcorn

The latest Costco snack to catch attention is Kirkland Signature Sea Salt Popcorn, sold in a 36-count box for $9.99 in some locations. It is a classic warehouse-style find: simple packaging, bulk quantity and a price that makes it easy to toss into your cart without hesitation.

But what is really driving the conversation is the taste. Shoppers on Costco forums have described it as surprisingly rich for a basic popcorn snack. Some say it has a buttery consistency that almost melts in your mouth, while others have gone so far as to say it gives strong competition to popular brands like SkinnyPop. For a Costco snack that looks so straightforward, the reaction has been anything but.

Costco regularly rolls out new Kirkland Signature items across categories, from bakery and prepared foods to household essentials. This steady rotation of products keeps shelves feeling fresh and gives shoppers something new to try on nearly every visit. Costco has even leaned into expanding its private label as a way to offer high-quality items at lower prices while maintaining control over supply and availability.

Why Costco's Kirkland Snacks Are Popular

New products often appear alongside seasonal items or quietly replace older offerings at Costco, which creates a sense of discovery for frequent shoppers. It is not unusual for Costco to introduce dozens of new items each quarter across different categories.

That unpredictability is part of what keeps fans engaged. One week, it might be bakery items like cookie bars or muffins; the next, it could be prepared foods like wings or salmon; and then suddenly, a new Costco snack like popcorn starts making the rounds online.

There is also a comfort factor at play. Popcorn, in general, is one of those snacks that feels nostalgic and familiar, often tied to movie nights or casual snacking at home. When Costco adds its own spin through Kirkland Signature, it taps into that familiarity while offering bulk value that makes it even more appealing.

For now, this new snack is still flying under the radar in some warehouses, but if early reactions are any indication, it may not stay quiet for long. Costco shoppers tend to move fast when something tastes this good and this affordable.

Prince Philip's Most Thoughtful Custom Jewelry Gifts for Queen Elizabeth Over the Years

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 8:24pm

Prince Philip had many hobbies throughout his life, and his talent for jewelry design was one that his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, displayed proudly.

Not only were his creations beautiful, but they also carried sentimental meaning. When Philip turned to London jeweller Philip Antrobus to create Elizabeth’s engagement ring, he acquired materials that were important to his family and lineage. Philip’s mother, Princess Alice, gave him an antique diamond tiara to use to create the ring. The result was a sparkler featuring a three-carat diamond center stone set on a platinum band surrounded by 10 smaller pavĂ©-set diamonds.

RELATED: A Look Back at Queen Elizabeth's Most Glamorous Moments

The Duke of Edinburgh used the rest of the diamonds from the tiara to create a dazzling bracelet as a wedding gift to his bride. Elizabeth wore the precious gift on a number of occasions, and it has since been borrowed by her granddaughter-in-law, Kate Middleton.

The gifts weren’t just sparkly accessories. Philip took his vow to Elizabeth very seriously and wrote a letter to her mother shortly after their wedding, referring to his bride by her nickname.

“Lilibet is the only ‘thing’ in the world which is absolutely real to me,” Philip wrote at the time, per Vanity Fair. “My ambition is to weld the two of us into a new combined existence that will not only be able to withstand the shocks directed at us, but will also have a positive existence for the good.”

In the early days of their relationship, Philip had a brooch made for Elizabeth in the shape of his naval badge. The couple and their young kids, then-Prince Charles and Princess Anne, lived in Malta from 1949 to 1951 while Philip was stationed there as a Royal Navy officer. As it was before Elizabeth ascended to the throne in 1952, they lived a private life, and she was able to be a "regular naval wife." This was a special time for the young family, and Philip had several jewelry pieces designed for Elizabeth that incorporated his naval badge.

Philip went on to make several pieces of jewelry for Elizabeth throughout their 73-year marriage. When the couple celebrated their 50-year anniversary, Elizabeth said Philip had, “quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.”

Elizabeth wore her engagement ring consistently throughout her life until her death in September 2022 at the age of 96. Her engagement ring was not considered a crown jewel, items that belong to the sitting monarch, but rather part of her personal collection. One of her family members likely inherited the family heirloom, or it is locked away in the vault of Buckingham Palace.

Philip’s dazzling wedding gift, which he designed and had crafted by Philip Antrobus, sat on Elizabeth’s wrist for several royal outings throughout her life. The bracelet proved to be one of her favorite pieces.

Philip outdid himself with the bracelet he tapped Boucheron to create for Elizabeth’s fifth anniversary gift. The Duke’s naval badge is encrusted in diamonds and surrounded by two sapphire crosses, seemingly a nod to the Greek flag. A ruby cross, perhaps representing the flag of England, is bordered with two roses of York, a nod to Elizabeth’s first royal title as Princess Elizabeth of York. The symbols are connected by gold links in the shape of interlocking Es and Ps.

In 1966, Philip awarded Andrew Grima the Duke of Edinburgh’s Prize for Elegant Design for his contribution to the craft during post-WWII and for raising the international reputation of modern British jewellery. Philip purchased the “Venus” brooch, made of gold, carved rubies, and diamonds, from Grima’s collection that year as a gift for the Queen. Elizabeth wore the piece throughout her life, notably for her and Philip’s portraits commemorating their 70th wedding anniversary in 2017.

West Wilson’s Cringey ‘Summer House’ Apology to Ciara Miller Is One of the Show’s Most Brutal Moments Yet

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:59pm

Now we know exactly why Andy Cohen warned fans to watch Summer House with “one eye open.” West Wilson’s attempt to apologize to Ciara Miller—after making out with another girl right in front of her—wasn’t just cringe. It was brutal to watch.

The already multi-layered episode lands even harder in hindsight, delivering an emotional aftershock from Amanda Batula and West's new offscreen romance—one that rattled the entire house, but cuts deepest for Ciara and Amanda's estranged husband, Kyle Cooke.

By the end of the episode, after several awkward, fumbled attempts to apologize, West and Ciara finally come face-to-face in a conversation that’s as jaw-dropping as it is uncomfortable—especially given the real-life fallout.

West starts one of his apologies by telling Ciara that it will only take "30 seconds" and that he doesn't feel much better, and after a week, he's "pretty bummed about it and I apologize." Meanwhile, she’s on FaceTime with Amanda, and the two laugh after West slinks out of the room.

In confessional, Ciara admits, "But it is really hard to keep up the front that I do. And it's just getting exhausting at this point." While she doesn’t hate him, the emotional toll is clearly catching up.

When they finally sit down the next day, the conversation turns raw. Ciara points out it’s been about two years with nothing really moving forward and admits she worries about being herself around him for fear of being embarrassed.

"Last weekend was so weird," she says, referring to West and his guest’s makeout at Jesse Solomon’s Vegas party. "'Cause it's the very thing I'm afraid of...happened. You sat right next to me and didn't see me. I feel like all of that's very triggering in this whole cycle of whatever the f--- our relationship is."

West admits that putting her in that position was "f---ed up" and apologizes. But Ciara reminds him that what came after their split was the real breaking point, calling his comments in the media the "nail in the coffin."

"I did really consider you my best friend. I feel like we had such a great friendship, and I think that's the part that was so hurtful about it. Because I don't call people my best friend lightly."

West responds that hearing this makes him feel sad, explaining he felt "under attack" and that since they weren’t communicating, "naturally I tried to defend myself."

Ciara, being the bigger person, still takes accountability. She apologizes for not reaching out and acknowledges how much the situation has been shaped by outside noise.

View this post on Instagram

Then comes one of the more surprising admissions: West says that seeing negative chatter about their relationship made him "naturally" resent her—something that only deepens the tension in the conversation.

"I do miss you as my friend," Ciara says through tears. "And I don't want people talking s--- or bad about you or saying mean things to you because you're not a bad person. I've never thought you were a bad person, yet last year, I don't think I was ready to be in this space. And then this year I'm just a little tired of having to carry it."

West says he can tell Ciara still has walls up and insists he’s ready to move forward however she wants, even suggesting they could be close again.

"Can we just be best friends again?" Ciara asks, breaking down into sobs as they hug, an ending that feels less like closure and more like emotional whiplash.

Earlier in the episode, and notably, Amanda confronts West over how he’s treated Ciara, pointing out the disconnect between how supportive he’s been toward her versus his behavior toward Ciara.

"What upset me the most is that you've been such a good friend to me all summer long," she tells him. "Like it bothers you when you see Kyle disrespecting me and someone so supportive of me and looking out for me and standing up for me to watch you disrespect Ciara in that way, it puts this weird dynamic in play."

While West says he understands why his behavior was disrespectful, he still seems unsure of what he actually jeopardized. When he asks for advice, Amanda keeps it simple: take accountability and apologize—no caveats.

It’s advice that hits differently now, considering how their dynamic has evolved off-camera.

1975 Anthem Became the Most Misunderstood Classic Rock Song

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:57pm

No one would blame you for thinking Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” is a simple song about love and longing. In fact, it tops American Songwriter’s list of classic rock songs with lyrics that “mean something completely different than you think.”

At first listen, the title track from Pink Floyd’s 1975 album of the same name feels like a message to someone who’s gone — an aching reflection on distance, memory, and love. But beneath its gentle sound lies something way more complex.

Originally written as a poem before guitarist David Gilmour added the music, the track poured out of singer-songwriter Roger Waters, who told journalist Dan Rather in a 2017 interview, via Radio X, “It was one of those happy times when the stream of consciousness works, and words come out.”

Since its release, many have linked the song to the absence of original frontman and chief songwriter Syd Barrett, who left the group in 1968 due to declining mental and physcial health. But according Waters, the meaning runs deeper than Barrett alone.

He instead says the song reflects not just the absence of Barrett, but the band’s evolving sense of alienation following the massive success of The Dark Side of the Moon, explaining it as far more existential — a rejection of passivity and a call to stay engaged with life.

“It’s to encourage myself not to accept a lead role in a cage, but to go on demanding of myself that I keep auditioning for the walk-on part in the war, ’cause that’s where I want to be,” he explains in a 2012 documentary, via Radio X. “I wanna be in the trenches. I don’t want to be at headquarters; I don’t wanna be sitting in a hotel somewhere. I wanna be engaged.”

Shaped by sadness, tension, and isolation, the album is brimming with anecdotes and stories, including one in which Barrett reportedly visited Abbey Road Studios unannounced while the band was recording their ninth studio album -- a moment Billboard describes as deeply emotional for the band.

Over time, the legacy of “Wish You Were Here” has only grown. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and charts worldwide, and the title track remains among Pink Floyd’s most celebrated songs.

Today, the song has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify — and yet, more than 50 years later, its meaning remains open to interpretation, further contributing to its continued influence in music. One thing not up for debate, though? This song still absolutely rocks.

Los Angeles Dodgers Player Freddie Freeman and Wife Chelsea Welcome Their 4th Baby

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:53pm

The baseball season is in full ‘swing’ and one player just got something better than a home run. Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, just welcomed their fourth child.

Who Are Freddie Freeman’s Children?

The journey to fatherhood wasn’t exactly easy for Freeman. MLB player Freeman and his wife of 11 years now have four children. The couple’s eldest child, Frederick Charles Fremman II, was born in 2016, making him nine years old. Their second son, Brandon John Freeman, followed four years later (in 2020). Maximus Turner Freeman arrived two months later, via surrogate.

In 2021, Freeman opened up to ESPN about the rocky road to becoming a parent. “Every pregnancy and fertility journey is a little bit different for everyone, and we wanted to respect our surrogate’s privacy as well.” He continued, “We tried for a couple of years, and it didn’t happen. We were talking with doctors, and they suggested surrogacy. We jumped at that, because we wanted to be blessed with more kids.” And they certainly were!

Freddie Freeman’s Newborn Baby Arrived Via Surrogate

Like Max, the newest addition to the family was also through surrogacy. Freddie and Chelsea recently announced their baby news, sharing a cute carousel of photos on Instagram with the caption, “London Rosemary Joy Freeman. April 19, 2026.” Little London’s middle name, Rosemary Joy, is a loving tribute to Freeman’s late mother.

View this post on Instagram

Chelsea revealed some of the backstory behind the surrogacy in a heartfelt Instagram post last February, writing, “Baby #4 is on the way and our hearts are already so full. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing woman helping bring our baby into our lives, and we’re choosing to honor her privacy as we walk this chapter.”

View this post on Instagram

After the pregnancy announcement, friends, fans, family, and some famous faces took to social media to congratulate the family. Livvy Dunne, gymnast, influencer, and girlfriend to Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, commented, “Congratulations y'all!!!” and Didgers player Miguel Rojas added, “I’m so happy for you guys.”

Is Freddie Freeman Still On the Dodgers’ Paternity List?

Having a baby is a big deal. Even sports stars need a few days off to welcome a new child. Enter the paternity list. The list is exactly what the name implies. It’s a roster of players who will miss games due to the birth of a child. The MLB allows players on this list to take between one and three games off from the regular season.

Freeman was placed on the L.A. Dodgers paternity list on April 19. According to an MLB statement, he missed two games and was reinstated on April 21.

1988 Smash Hit Power Ballad About Forbidden Love Became a Timeless Anthem

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:42pm

If you didn't have the immense privilege of growing up in the '80s, then it might be hard for you to understand just how incredibly huge Bon Jovi was back then. No exaggeration: From about 1986 to 1994 (and way beyond), it seemed like you couldn't go five minutes without either hearing one of their songs on the radio or seeing one of their videos on MTV.

Their third album, Slippery When Wet, featured three top 10 singles...and people thought that was a big deal. Then, their next album, 1988's New Jersey, made Bon Jovi just one of a few rock bands to ever have five Top 10 singles off the same record on the Billboard Hot 100.

The fifth and final chart-topping single from New Jersey, the power ballad "Living in Sin," didn't make it to #1 like "I'll Be There for You" or "Bad Medicine," but it did peak at #9 on Dec. 12, 1989.

"Living in Sin" is the timeless tale of a young couple whose romance is being threatened by the girl's conservative parents:

"I don't need no license to sign on no line / And I don't need no preacher to tell me you're mine / I don't need no diamonds, I don't need no new bride / And I just need you, baby, to look me in the eyes / I know they have a hard time, your daddy don't approve / But I don't need your daddy telling us what we should do"

In addition to lyrics that were super relatable to countless teen listeners, the song came with a video that — as some of us will remember — was one of MTV's steamier clips at the time: A black-and-white love scene on a beach, angry parents, close-ups of Jon Bon Jovi crooning sexily into a microphone.

'Living in Sin' showcased Jon Bon Jovi's 'gale-force vocals'

Known for his powerful, full-force style of singing, Bon Jovi (the singer, not the band) really belted his heart out on "Living in Sin." When Ultimate Classic Rock ranked all 359 of Bon Jovi's songs, "Living in Sin" took the #22 slot.

"Digging into his Catholic upbringing, Bon Jovi carefully peels off layers of lyrics while the band dexterously follows his lead, sounding larger than life," UCR's Anthony Kuzminksi wrote.

"'Living in Sin' really opens up after the second chorus and guitar solo, where you can feel the pressure ready to pop," Kuzminski continued. "A four-piece rock orchestra, led by David Bryan’s keyboards, [Richie] Sambora’s substantial guitar and Bon Jovi’s gale-force vocals, then signals the song home."

Decades later, the song still slaps, as the kids would say...even if you're not a teenager anymore, and you're not worried about what your parents catching you in the backseat of a car.

1995 Hit Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies’ of All Time

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:29pm

In 1995, an edgy, evocative French film premiered that would leave a lasting mark on global cinema.

La Haine, directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, has since been ranked among the best movies of all time by Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting its undeniable lasting cultural and critical impact.

Set in the suburbs of Paris, the film follows three young men. Vinz, SaĂŻd and Hubert, over the course of 24 hours in the aftermath of a violent riot sparked by police brutality. As tensions simmer, the story unfolds as a raw and unflinching portrayal of life on the margins, exploring themes of inequality, anger and systemic injustice.

Shot in striking black and white, La Haine uses its visual style to heighten the sense of realism and urgency. The film's gritty aesthetic, combined with its powerful performances, creates an atmosphere that feels both immediate and deeply unsettling.

"When you look at black-and-white footage from the war, it changes when you see that footage put in color," Kassovitz told BFI. "What black and white does is bring poetry into reality. That's why when you do a movie about poverty where you don't have control over the environment and things are supposed to be ugly, it's very difficult. It costs a lot of money to make it look good. But it doesn’t cost anything to make it look good in black and white. If I showed you La Haine in color, it's horrible."

Rather than offering easy answers, Kassovitz presents a snapshot of a society on edge, where frustration and hopelessness can quickly spiral into violence. Its famous closing line underscores the film's central message about cycles of conflict and the consequences of ignoring deeper societal issues: "It's not how you fall that matters. It's how you land."

Upon its release, La Haine was widely acclaimed, winning the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival and earning recognition as one of the most important films of its generation.

Decades later, the film continues to resonate with audiences around the world, remaining a touchstone for discussions about social justice and urban life.

"It's extraordinary to be able to make something that lasts, even if the problems it confronted are still as sharp," Kassovitz told France 24. "There will always be police brutality. We should be aware of that. We have to remind ourselves it exists. We also have to learn our history and at a certain moment say, 'That's enough.'"

With its inclusion in Rotten Tomatoes' ranking, La Haine stands as a timeless classic—one that continues to challenge, provoke and inspire.

Bestselling Author’s Steamy Romance Series Is Being Adapted for TV

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:15pm

If you’re in love with smut, there is one steamy romance series you must have read. T.L. Swan’s Miles High Club book series became a huge success, and it was only a matter of time before it would be picked up as a series.

Well, that time has come. Amazon MGM Studios agrees with the fans that this is a series worth picking up, according to Deadline. There is some bad news in this in that the show hasn’t got a writer yet, but Swan is set to executive produce along with Counterpoint Productions and QC Entertainment.

About the ‘Miles High Club’ Books

For those who haven’t read the books yet, the “Miles” part isn’t a typo. The four-book series follows the four Miles brothers. They are hot billionaires who have carefully crafted lives. They are media moguls, after all, and the last thing they need is for bad press. They also think that bachelor life is the best life.

You know what they say when it comes to people not looking for love. That’s when love finds us, and that is certainly the case for the four wealthy brothers.

It all starts with The Stopover, which follows Emily Foster, who finds herself thrown off when her new boss turns out to be the one-night stand that was supposed to remain that way. Jameson Miles is a powerful and ruthless billionaire, who is ready to pick up where he and Emily left off during her unexpected first class upgrade, but is she willing to risk her dream job for this one man?

The Takeover, The Casanova, and The Do-Over are the next books. The great thing about the series is that they can be read out of order.

Could ‘Miles High Club’ Get a ‘Bridgerton’ Style Adaptation?

The question now is how Amazon MGM Studios will develop the series. There is room to do something like Bridgerton, where each season gets a new lead. This would be the most obvious choice for a book series that is so focused on separate couples.

Each story has its own motivating factors and storyline. While the first book is a one-night-stand-to-lovers storyline, the second novel is more enemies-to-lovers. It wouldn’t make sense to combine everything across seasons.

This could depend on the direction a writer and showrunner would like to take. All eyes are on the series' development. Until then, there is a new steamy romance book, The Heart You Kept, coming in May 2026.

How to Politely Say ‘I Already Told You’ in a Work Email, Etiquette Expert Reveals

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:11pm

Navigating the professional world can be tricky at times. It isn't always easy to interpret tone over email or Slack, and no one knows that more than etiquette experts. While they say that there are plenty of common mistakes that job-seekers can make before even setting foot in the workplace, learning to communicate politely and effectively once there should be priority number one.

Tough situations at work are sometimes unavoidable, but you can at least learn to navigate them with grace without becoming unlikable to your colleagues. One common phrase etiquette experts say to avoid? "I already told you," which is a phrase that can come off condescending or rude in a professional setting if you aren't careful. That's why we asked an etiquette expert to share exactly how to politely say this in a work email.

There are multiple ways you can go about this, but etiquette coach Heidi Dulebohn says that keeping it simple, direct and polite is key in these types of situations. Whether you're looking for ways to professionally clear up a misunderstanding or need to remind someone of a due date without being harsh, Dulebohn shares some of her favorite phrases to politely say "I already told you" in a work email, to help you become a poised and articulate master at your job. Plus, other phrases you can use to be politely assertive in the workplace so you don't end up becoming a people-pleaser, either.

Why You Shouldn’t Use ‘I Already Told You’ in a Professional Email or Setting

The phrase "I already told you" doesn't always give off the classiest or most professional energy in a work setting—just ask Dulebohn, an international etiquette coach and speaker. This especially applies if you're a manager. The language you use as a superior is important in setting the tone with your direct reports. Even if you've already explained something, patience is key.

"It can be frustrating to repeat yourself at work, but you can do so in a professional, collegial and polite way that keeps momentum moving forward and does not create hard feelings," she shares. "At work, how we say something can be as important as what we say. When you find yourself about to say, 'I already told you,' stop, take a beat, and engage your emotional intelligence, read the room and keep your credibility, relationships and executive presence in check."

She also says it's important not to directly say "I already told you" because it can come across as dismissive and perhaps, in some cases, confrontational.

"It may even shut things down," she adds. "Consider, who are you speaking to—your boss, a colleague or a client—and the circumstances."

How to Politely Say ‘I Already Told You’ in a Work Email, According to an Etiquette Expert

It's all about striking the proper tone when you're trying to politely say "I already told you." Dulebohn shares some key ways to get your point across without coming off standoffish or confrontational.

1. "As I mentioned earlier..."

This helps move the conversation in a more positive direction instead of feeling condescending.

"This is a simple reminder to keep things moving without assigning blame," Dulebohn adds. "As an example, you can say something like, 'As I mentioned earlier, the deadline is Friday.'

2. "Just to reiterate
"

This kind of language works because it applies emphasis instead of being hostile or snooty. You're merely trying to emphasize the due date of a project or assignment to make sure everyone is on the same page.

"This phrase also positions you as organized and clear, not frustrated," explains Dulebohn. "As an example, you can say, 'Just to reiterate, we'll need final approvals by Thursday.'"

3. "I may not have been clear—let me clarify
"

While this language works well for anyone in the workplace, Dulebohn says it's key in certain types of scenarios.

"This is especially helpful when dealing with someone who holds a superior position to yours," she shares. "This is a gracious option that immediately [diffuses] tensions by taking partial responsibility, otherwise called saving someone else's face.  As an example, you can say, 'I may not have been clear—let me clarify the next steps.'"

4. "Happy to confirm
"

For an even more positive spin, Dulebohn says to try something like the above.

"This is warm, confident and especially effective in client-facing communication," she shares. "As an example, you can say, 'Happy to confirm that we'll proceed with option B.'"

5. "Circling back to my earlier note
"

Dulebohn says this feels more like a gentle nudge than a back-handed comment.

"It feels collaborative rather than corrective," she explains. "As an example, you can say something like, 'Circling back to my earlier note, we'll move forward next week.'"

Other Phrases You Can Use To Be Politely Assertive at Work

Learning to say "I already told you" in a professional way is just a drop in the bucket when it comes to polite yet assertive communication at work. But getting your point across without rubbing people the wrong way is easy thanks to Dulebohn's tips.

"You can be a strong and effective leader while conducting yourself in a polite manner," she says. "Gracious does not mean passive. The best leaders are kind and clear. Try using these phrases at work to accomplish your goals."

Setting expectations:

When you're trying to assert your expectations for a project or assignment, being direct and clear is key. Dulebohn says the following phrases are her top picks for setting the tone early on.

  • "Going forward, let’s
"
  • "To keep things on track, we’ll
"
Redirecting a conversation:

If you feel like time is being wasted on something or a meeting is going much longer than needed, Dulebohn says that's when it's time to gently and politely redirect the conversation. A couple of her favorite phrases to do that include:

  • "Let's refocus on
"
  • "The priority here is
"
Holding boundaries:

The workplace is one of the most important places to assert your boundaries. Whether that's being honest about what's possible or what's a realistic workload for you, learning to politely protect yourself is key. Dulebohn outlined what to say in that case below.

  • "I won't be able to accommodate that timeline, but I can
"
  • "That's outside our current scope, but let's talk about what I can do to achieve your goals and expectations."
Encouraging accountability:

Making sure others take accountability for their share of work can be tough. If you're looking for a polite way to be assertive and make sure someone does their part, Dulebohn has you covered.

  • "What would be the next step from your side?"
  • "Can you walk me through your plan here?"

'90s Rock Legend Releases 'Sublime' New Single and Fans Say It's an 'Instant Classic'

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:11pm

It's no exaggeration to say that Beck has had one of the most innovative, diverse careers of any rock star in history. From the moment he burst onto the scene with the '90s anthem "Loser," the musician has experimented with just about every genre, from folk to country to pop to hip-hop, all with great success. Now, if Beck's latest single is any indication, it seems he might be gearing up for another introspective, reflective period, similar to the music on two of his most beloved albums, Sea Change (2002) and Morning Phase (2014)

Following the late-January release of his EP, Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime — a collection of covers and rarities — Beck just dropped a new single, "Ride Lonesome," which reunited the Grammy winner with the team that worked on Sea Change (guitarists Jason Falkner and Smokey Hormel, drummer Joey Waronker and producer Nigel Godrich).

Fans on YouTube were quick to rave about the track.

"When Beck writes a lonely acoustic song in the key of E, it's an instant classic," declared one person, with a second calling it "sublime."

"Love it! Beck is truly the most talented musician imo! Just so amazing!" wrote another fan, as yet another commenter confessed, "This song soothes my soul."

Beck was going through a 'lonely time' when he wrote 'Ride Lonesome'

In a recent interview with NPR, Beck opened up about the inspiration behind "Ride Lonesome."

"It was a bit of a lonely time," he said. "It was one of those times in your life when you're taking things in, where you've been and where you're going. You know, when you're going through difficult things, often you have to get through it yourself. You just have to move forward through whatever landscape of your life and circumstances you find yourself in. And I think it's sort of that dark comfort of pushing through the parts of life that are maybe not as comfortable or easy, and having some distant faith that it will pull you through to the other side."

As for whether or not fans can look forward to a new full-length album and what else he's been up to, Beck admitted that while he "had to wait a couple of years to get back to work [after COVID]," he's been "writing a lot of songs."

"It's been a very prolific time for me," he said. "I did a song with Gorillaz and I did one with Paul McCartney, and we did a fun video together. I helped write a Black Keys album called Ohio Players. I think I wrote like 10 or 12 of those songs. And then I've just been working on my music pretty constantly. I built a recording studio."

"You know, I've been living life. I've probably made multiple albums' worth of music that probably no one will ever hear, but hopefully it leads to something," Beck continued. "I've got lots of things cooking. I've been in the studio a lot on and off the last four years with my band. There's a group of musicians I came up with that were my touring band for a lot of my early records. And everybody's gone off to bigger and better things, but we still get together and we'll find a couple of days here and there and make some music. And yeah, I have a lot of different projects I want to do, so hopefully there's time to get to all of them."

Five Below's Sweet and Stackable 3-Piece Organizer Is Perfect For Storing the Small Stuff

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 7:05pm

There was a time not that long ago when all I asked of storage was that it did its job and didn't cost a fortune. Old me was perfectly content with a basic plastic bin as long as it held my stuff and stayed out of the way. But somewhere along the line, that shifted. New me? She has standards. She still wants functional and affordable, obviously, but now there's a third non-negotiable: it has to be cute. Apparently, the new me also talks about herself in the third person.

Blame it on this whole dopamine decor era, but I've realized I actually like being surrounded by things that make me smile—even the most boring, utilitarian items. After all, why shouldn't a storage bin have a little personality?

Stackable Flowers Storage Bin 3-Pack, $5 at Five Below

Five Below

Which is exactly why I'm suddenly very invested in a three-tier, flower-shaped plastic organizer from Five Below that feels less like storage and more like a tiny, happy upgrade to my everyday life. As the product name suggests, there are three separate "tiers" that snap together. The tiers have small compartments so you can organize everything from craft supplies to other little stuff. (Hair accessories, maybe?)

Before heading to the store, it's worth noting that this leans more toward decoration than toward heavy-duty use. The plastic construction keeps it lightweight and affordable, but it's not meant for anything super heavy. Instead, it's exactly the kind of piece that makes organizing feel less like a task you've been avoiding and more like a small, satisfying upgrade to your space. And if you're in your dopamine decor era like me, this is the kind of find that makes you weirdly excited to tidy up.

Elsewhere at Five Below, you can find other cutesy, affordable items to refresh your space. There are these flower-shaped drinking glasses with a sort of retro vibe, and a dainty little serving tray that's just as good at corralling small items as it is at serving up snacks. That's the great thing about Five Below—it's like your retail bestie always at the ready with something to make you smile.

'Purple State’ by Dana Perino Is More Than a Romance — And It Makes It Worth the Read

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 6:33pm

Purple State by Dana Perino is her fictional debut, and it’s certainly marketed as a romance. At the heart of it, that’s certainly the case. However, the soul of the novel offers something much more, and it’s easy to overlook that at first.

In fact, it takes a good half of the story to really get into the romance of it all. While Dot is involved with someone at the beginning, she knows it’s not going anywhere, and so, I don’t really count that as the romance part. Instead, we get a story of life and of friendships, and I definitely didn’t expect that.

‘Purple State’ Asks What You Want to Do with Your Life

The start of the novel brings focus to the friendship of three women in their 20s. They are all in different lines of work, but they’re close and they tell each other everything. This is the type of friendship so many women would love to have, but it’s not always that easy. Yet, I appreciate seeing it in fiction, as it’s proof that something like this can exist.

Dot, Mary, and Harper are all at a stage in their lives where they’re not all that sure about what they want. Well, Dot and Harper are. Mary seems to have it figured out, but she’s also willing to make a huge move. The stars align when they’re offered the chance to move out of New York City to Cedar Falls, Wisconsin for a few months.

That’s where the journey begins. They’re there temporarily to help with the upcoming election. The aim is to turn this purple state blue, and that means none of them are looking for love. Of course, we find love when we’re not expecting it, and that’s what happens to Dot. She doesn’t think it will at first, though, as a Democrat who is sure that she can’t have a life with a Republican.

It’s the friendship that is the soul of this story. We get to see what it means to have friends who support each other, and I’d have been happy to have remained focused on that. One of my small complaints was that the trio didn’t seem to have enough time to showcase the close friendship that they had — close enough to move to another state on almost a whim!

Courtesy of Harper Collins Publishers

Harper Collins Publishers

Can Romance Cross Party Lines?

Yes, there is a cute romance at the heart of Purple State. There are political elements throughout. After all, it starts with a move to a purple state to get people to vote blue, and there are a lot of mentions of Democrats and Republicans, the past elections, and the upcoming 2028 election, and more.

If that is going to trigger you, then I would recommend skipping the novel until you’re in a place that you can think more about politics. I get it — we’re not all in a place to think about what’s to come with everything going on in the world.

Something that surprised me was seeing reviews of the novel without reading it. People on Goodreads chose to give their opinions on the plot, but that isn’t fair and it doesn’t work for this one. It’s easy to jump to conclusions, and I love that Dot does just that a lot. She is very much like many readers.

Yet, she is willing to give people a chance. She is willing to open her mind a little, and it’s a message for readers throughout. There’s a nuance to the debate, and Perino is able to offer us that.

You can tell that this is her fiction debut, but that she’s also a writer to watch. The characters and some arcs could do with a little more development. As I said, I would have loved to see more of the friendship, but I also think the characters themselves need a few more layers. However, it’s a great start, and the story is believable rather than the Hallmark Christmas movies that you can sometimes end up rolling your eyes at.

Perino is able to find a good balance between the story and the politics. It doesn’t get preachy, but it still touches on important topics, and that’s not an easy task. Perino is an author to look out for.

'Farmer Wants a Wife' Star's Grandfather Had a Hit Song With Willie Nelson

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 6:28pm

As Farmer Wants a Wife season 4 gets underway, one contestant is already sparking curiosity with a surprising family connection to country music history.

Carsyn Hughes, one of the women vying for love this season, hints at it in her official bio, writing: “My grandfather wrote and performed some of the biggest country hits of his time.”

So who was he?

Carsyn’s grandfather was Ronald “Ronny” Goff Hughes, a longtime Nashville musician, songwriter and performer who worked with a wide range of country stars throughout his career.

According to his 2023 obituary, Hughes was already performing as a lead singer and guitarist before he could even drive, fronting a band called The Prodigys alongside his brothers. His talent quickly opened doors in the industry, and he went on to play bass and collaborate with artists including Hank Williams Jr., Jerry Reed and Porter Waggoner, among others.

Hughes also spent time performing on the Grand Ole Opry as part of The Vic Willis Trio, while building a career as a studio musician, songwriter and publisher. Over the years, he contributed to hundreds of recordings, becoming part of the fabric of Nashville’s music scene.

He was also connected to Danny Davis & The Nashville Brass, a group that found chart success with collaborations including a 1980 Top 20 country hit with Willie Nelson called "Night Life."

Following his death in 2023, Danny Davis & The Nashville Brass paid tribute on social media, writing, “Remembering original band bass guitarist, Ronnie Hughes who passed away November 22, 2023.” In the comments, a fan clarified that Hughes was part of the group’s touring “original band” — a term used for the core musicians who regularly performed with the ensemble from the late 1960s through the early 2000s.

Beyond his work in the industry, Hughes remained deeply connected to his faith and community, often sharing his music through church worship teams across Tennessee.

He died on November 22, 2023, at the age of 73.

Farmer Wants a Wife season 4 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

Joe Buck Set To Host Upcoming ‘Jeopardy!’ Spinoff

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 6:26pm

I’ll take “newest Jeopardy! spin-offs” for $500, please.

The most recent addition to the Jeopardy! universe is ESPN Jeopardy!. The new series will ask sports-based trivia in the iconic reverse answer-question format.

JoeBuck, lead play-by-play announcer for Monday Night Football, was revealed to be the game show's host by Front Office Sports.

But Buck is not new to the Jeopardy! stage. He guest-hosted the game show in 2021 after the death of former host AlexTrebek.

The spin-off host has been the announcer for Monday Night Football since March 2022 and has worked in broadcast sports for over 30 years. Buck has called 33 conservative NFL seasons, as well as 24 World Series, 22 MLB All-Star games, and five golf U.S. Opens.

The original series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, and for the sports version, the production company is working with ESPN. It is expected to stream on Disney+ and Hulu this summer.

The show will use the sports network’s talent to compete for the grand prize of $500,000. The winner will grant the reward to their chosen charity. No contestants have been revealed yet.

This isn’t the first time the game show has attempted a sports-themed competition. The aptly named series Sports Jeopardy! aired on the (now bankrupt) Sony-owned streaming service Crackle. The show ran from 2014 to 2016 but was not a success.

Other brand extensions include Rock & Roll Jeopardy! (1998 to 2001), Jep! (1998 to 2000), and Pop Culture Jeopardy! (2024). The second season of Pop Culture Jeopardy! will premiere on Netflix in May 2026.

The original game show premiered in 1964, and the current syndicated version began in 1984. The first host was ArtFleming, who held the position from 1964 to 1979. He was succeeded by Alex Trebek, who hosted from 1984 until he died in 2020. It has been hosted by the show’s highest-earning contestant, KenJennings, since 2023.

The official ESPN Jeopardy! premiere date has yet to be announced.

1973 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 53 Years Ago Today

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 6:22pm

In 1973, Donna Fargo released a song that would further cement her place as one of country music's most distinctive voices and become one of the most beloved country hits of the era.

Her track, "Superman," went on to become a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles, marking another major milestone in her career during a breakout era of success.

Following the massive popularity of her earlier hit "The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.," Fargo quickly established a signature style, one that blended optimism, sincerity and a conversational approach to storytelling. "Superman" fit seamlessly into that mold, offering a heartfelt look at love, admiration and everyday devotion.

The song's lyrics center on the idea that while no one is truly perfect, the person you love can still feel larger than life, like a superhero in the most meaningful ways. Fargo's warm, expressive delivery brings that sentiment to life, making the track both relatable and emotionally resonant.

"It's funny about songs that become hits. Since songs come from the creative spirit, I've sometimes thought they might have a mind of their own and the version of the idea becomes bound and determined to find a way to be heard and felt," Fargo told Goldmine in 2019. "I know that may be kind of out there thinking, but there must be an energy or something that reaches hearts in great numbers of listeners if a song becomes a legitimate hit."

At a time when country music was evolving, Fargo stood out for her ability to write and perform songs that felt both personal and universally appealing. "Superman" helped reinforce her reputation as a songwriter who could connect with audiences through simple but powerful themes.

More than five decades later, the song remains a staple of classic country, remembered for its uplifting message and timeless charm.

"Sometimes I'll have an idea just stew around in my head for a day or two or three and if I’m smart I'll take notes of my thoughts so I don't lose the context, and other times I'll just start playing and something will come out and I’ll go with it," Fargo said in a 2023 interview. "Songs almost have a mind of their own, like they insist on being written, and you have to do it their way. I love that. So I just let those kind lead me."

Its chart-topping success in 1973 stands as a testament to Fargo's enduring appeal and to a song that continues to resonate with listeners who believe in love that feels a little larger than life.

The Egyptian Way To Make Rice 10x Better

Tue, 04/21/2026 - 6:22pm

Rice can be prepared in all sorts of ways, though a surprising number of them fade into the background. But I recently stumbled across the Egyptian way of making rice, and suddenly, plain rice felt like a missed opportunity. This particular method, known as vermicelli rice (or roz bil sha'areya), transforms a simple pot of rice into something nutty, aromatic and quietly impressive.

Curiosity got the best of me after spotting this method a handful of times across social media and online, so I tried it myself—and the results genuinely surprised me. What starts out as a few pantry staples quickly turns into something far more flavorful, with a rich, toasty flavor and aroma.

I've now made this Egyptian-style rice multiple times and have learned what techniques to prioritize to get the best results. Plus, I can fill you in on what mistakes to avoid (keep a close eye on the pot while you're cooking!), so that you'll hopefully get the ideal outcome on your very first try (we're talking a dish that's fluffy, buttery and oh-so delicious).

The method is surprisingly easy, and I can almost guarantee that you'll likely never want to make rice another way again.

What Is the Egyptian Way To Make Rice 10x Better?

Fadwa Fadi / Shutterstock.com

At its core, the Egyptian method is beautifully simple—you toast thin pasta strands (vermicelli) in ghee or butter before cooking them together with rice. That one extra step completely changes the flavor and texture. The vermicelli develops a deep golden color and nutty aroma, which then infuses the rice as everything cooks together.

The result is rice that's fluffy, lightly buttery and dotted with toasted strands that add both flavor and visual appeal. It's not heavily spiced or complicated—it just tastes better. In many Egyptian households, this isn't a special occasion dish; it's the default way rice is made, often served alongside stews, grilled meats or vegetables.

When I made it myself, the biggest surprise was how the textures complemented each other. The rice stayed soft and separate, while the vermicelli added just a slight bite and toastiness. It's subtle, but once you notice it, you'll want to make it again and again.

Ingredients Needed for Vermicelli Rice

Julie Andrews

The beauty of this dish is its short, unfussy ingredient list. You likely already have most of it in your kitchen.

You'll need rice (traditionally medium or short-grain, though long-grain works too), vermicelli pasta (those thin spaghetti-like strands broken into smaller pieces), ghee or butter for richness, broth (or water, but highly recommend broth), and salt. Some variations add a little butter or oil at the end for shine, or even onions for extra flavor, but the classic version keeps things minimal.

A few ingredient tips can make all the difference here. Be sure to rinse the rice until the water runs clear—this removes excess starch and helps the grains cook up light and separate, which is a big part of what makes this dish so appealing.

As for fat, ghee is similar to clarified butter with the milk solids and water removed, giving it a higher smoke point and making it less likely to burn (plus a nuttier, more intense flavor). That said, I used regular butter and still had great results—you just need to keep a closer eye on the vermicelli as it toasts, so it doesn't go too far.

When I tested this at home, I used exactly these ingredients, and it came out tasting like something you'd get at a restaurant. That's part of the magic—it's not about expensive ingredients, it's about technique.

How To Make Vermicelli Rice

The process is straightforward, but there's one step you don't want to rush—toasting the vermicelli.

You start by melting the ghee or butter in a pot over medium heat. Then in go the vermicelli pieces. Stir constantly as they toast—you'll watch them go from pale to golden to a deeper brown in just a few minutes. This step is where all the flavor develops, and it happens quickly, so don't walk away. Even a few extra seconds without stirring can cause the vermicelli to burn.

Next, you add the rice directly into the pot and stir it around so every grain gets coated in that buttery goodness. This quick sauté helps keep the rice fluffy and separate later on.

Then comes the liquid—preferably broth—plus salt. Bring everything to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and let it gently steam. After about 15 to 18 minutes, the liquid is absorbed, and the rice is cooked through. Let it rest for a few minutes before fluffing with a fork.

When I followed these steps, the hardest part was resisting the urge to lift the lid mid-cooking. But once I finally fluffed it, the grains were perfectly separate, with those golden vermicelli threads woven throughout—exactly the kind of result you want to eat immediately.

Vermicelli Rice Recipe Tips and Tricks

If there's one thing I learned from making this at home, it's that vermicelli rice is simple—but a few small details make a big difference.

First, watch the vermicelli like a hawk. It can go from perfectly golden to burnt in seconds, and burnt vermicelli will give the entire dish a bitter taste. Stirring constantly is your best defense.

Second, don't skip rinsing your rice. Washing away excess starch helps ensure the grains stay fluffy rather than clumping. That's especially important here, since the goal is light, separate grains with a bit of texture for contrast.

Another tip: Use broth or stock instead of water for a deeper flavor. It's not traditional in every version, but it adds a subtle richness that pairs beautifully with the toasted pasta.

Finally, let the rice rest after cooking. It might seem like a small step, but giving it a few minutes off the heat allows the steam to settle and the texture to finish developing.
