The Original ‘Jurassic Park’ Is Back — in a Super Bowl Ad

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:55am

Xfinity is bringing 'Jurassic Park' back to the Super Bowl with a single, somewhat weird idea: what if the park never failed in the first place? During Super Bowl LX on NBC, Comcast will air a 60-second commercial that reunites Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum as Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm, revisiting the world ofSteven Spielberg’s 1993 classic from a very different angle.

Titled 'Jurassic Park… Works,' the ad removes the catastrophic power outage that defined the original film. Instead of fences failing and dinosaurs escaping, Xfinity’s connectivity keeps everything running. The scientists are free to enjoy the park, happily moving through familiar locations minus the fear that a raging dinosaur will jump out and eat them at any moment.

The spot is directed byTaika Waititi, who keeps the scenes close to the originals until the solved network failure lets everyone go enjoy themselves. Iconic moments return (rewritten, of course), including the rain-soaked T. Rex scene, the power scare in the control room, and the brontosaurus lumbering out of the lake. John Williams’ original score underscores the nostalgia, while Industrial Light & Magic handles visual effects. Costumes and set details were recreated using original production materials for a remarkably accurate reimagining.

Related: 7 Universal Orlando Rides Will Be Closed in February—including Some Fan Favorites

The crossover also makes sense from a corporate standpoint. Comcast owns NBCUniversal, which includes NBC, Universal Pictures and Xfinity, turning the Super Bowl broadcast into a potential showcase for a series of linked businesses. The campaign extends beyond the game, with 'Jurassic Park'-themed items planned across San Francisco, including dinosaur projections on the Hobart Building, branded Lyft vehicles and appearances by a baby velociraptor from Universal Orlando Resort.

Still, not everyone is sold on the concept. Some critics have pushed back on the idea of rewriting 'Jurassic Park' as a tech success story, arguing that the film’s central warning about unchecked innovation gets lost in translation. SlashFilm, in particular, criticized the spot as a nostalgia play that misunderstands the original movie’s message, calling out the digital de-aging and dialogue as distracting rather than charming. That reaction reflects a broader discomfort some fans feel when beloved stories are repurposed for advertising.

For others, though, the appeal is in that odd shift from movie to silly ad. Personally, I was sold when Goldblum's Ian Malcom sauntered up to a seafood bar, took off his sunglasses, and said 'that is one big pile of shrimp.'

The Monkees ‘Best Song of All Time’ Became a No. 1 Hit Twice

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:54am

In the mid-1960s, The Monkees shot to fame with hit records fueled by their self-titled TV show. The pop-rock band, which featured Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, scored three No. 1 hits between 1966 and 1967.

In a reader’s poll conducted by Rolling Stone, the song “Daydream Believer” was ranked as the Best Monkees Song of all time. The song, which hit No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1967, weeks after its release, was written by the Kingston Trio alum John Stewart. Rolling Stone described “Daydream Believer” as “the finest performance” of Jones’ career and “a pop standard.”

The song was rare in that all four Monkees either played or sang on the track, which was not the case with their other No. 1 hits, Stereogum noted.

“I’m a Believer” was later recorded by Anne Murray, whose version hit No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart, No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Country chart, and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in Feb. 1980.

The Monkees and Anne Murray loved 'Daydream Believer'

In a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone, Nesmith named “Daydream Believer” as his favorite Monkees song. He also credited Jones as the lead of The Monkees and the other band members as his “side men.”

“The sensibility of the song is John Stewart at his best, IMHO,”  he added. “It has a beautiful undercurrent of melancholy with a delightful frosting, no taste of bitterness. David’s cheery vocal leads us all in a great refrain of living on love alone.”

In a separate interview, Tork revealed that the opening piano riff was his idea. “I was on the piano, and I came up with this opening lick which I thought was just sparklingly original,” he said. “When you play it today, everyone thinks of ‘Daydream Believer.’”

Murray revealed that her love for the Monkees' song led her to cover it. In an interview posted on her YouTube channel, she recalled, “I heard ‘Daydream Believer’ when it was a big hit by The Monkees. And I loved it.”

Murray first performed the song in the 1960s on a Canadian TV show called Let’s Go. “We just did the hits of the day, and that was one of them,” she shared. "It was [the 1960s] and it was a No. 1 record by The Monkees. And I got a chance to sing it on the show."

"And later on, when [record producer] Brian Ahern and I were doing our albums, that came up, 'Let’s think of an oldie to put on this album,'" she added. "We quite often did that, put an oldie on there. I immediately thought of ['Daydream Believer’]. I never dreamed it would ever become a hit for me. But it’s kind of an up-tempo, fun song.”

Written in minutes

Stewart also admitted he never dreamed “Daydream Believer would be a hit. "I never thought it was one of my best songs,” he said in an interview with American Songwriter. “Not at all. And then when I heard The Monkees do it, I said, 'My God!' ... Within three months it was number one around the world."

“I lived off the song totally for more than a year,” Stewart revealed. “And then Anne Murray recorded it, and it came up again. It was just a song I wrote in a few minutes.”

Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mom: Sheriff's Latest Update Is Sobering

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:54am

Savannah Guthrie and her family are facing the unthinkable as their matriarch, Nancy Guthrie, has disappeared. Last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills of Arizona on Saturday, January 31, Nancy's whereabouts are currently unknown. Authorities are working around the clock to find her after finding evidence that she may have been abducted in the middle of the night.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared a sobering update about the search efforts. "It is a race against time, and I hope that window hasn’t closed," he told NBC's Liz Kreutz on Today.

Nanos also made it clear that there is enough evidence that suggests that Nancy was taken against her will, based on what was found inside Nancy's home.

"When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go somewhere, that’s an abduction," he said. He clarified that his phrasing was figurative. "[I] did not mean that she was literally taken from her bed," he said. It is unknown what the motive is if Nancy was, in fact, abducted. However, authorities are one step closer to finding out who might have been involved.

"We took some samples that we hope would have profile of a DNA, profile that gives us some identification as to what we’re looking at," Nanos also said.

Nancy, 84, is not in good physical health though her family has confirmed that she doesn't have any cognitive issues.

In the early hours of February 3, Savannah took to Instagram to ask fans to pray for her mother and her family.

"We believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him," she wrote.

"thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. we need you," she continued before quoting scripture and ending her latest statement with "bring her home."

Bad Bunny Update Announced After Grammys Win

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:48am

Just days after making history at the 2026 Grammy Awards, Bad Bunny is once again at the center of global attention, this time for a major fashion update that reflects his growing influence beyond music

Adidas officially rolled out new details surrounding the BadBo 1.0, the Puerto Rican superstar’s first-ever signature sneaker, following his Album of the Year win. The announcement arrived alongside an Instagram video promotion that captured the artist’s core message about freedom, identity and possibility.

In the video shared by Adidas, Bad Bunny reflects on how people are often pushed to choose just one path in life. The caption, taken directly from his words, reads: “Kids always ask us what we want to be when we grow up, as if there is only one answer. Why choose just one thing, when everything is possible.”

Bad Bunny poses with the Album of the Year, Best Música Urbana Album, and Best Global Music Performance Awards during the 68th GRAMMY Awards.

The message neatly ties together his music career, cultural voice, and now, his evolution as a design partner with one of the world’s biggest sportswear brands.

Bad Bunny’s Grammy win, marking the first time a Spanish-language album has taken home Album of the Year, has placed him at a new peak of cultural momentum. Adidas appears to be leaning into that moment by positioning the BadBo 1.0 not just as a sneaker, but as a symbol of creative growth.

View this post on Instagram

As the first major release of 2026 for the duo, the BadBo 1.0 sets the tone for what’s next. The “Chalk White” version is scheduled to drop on Feb. 9, arriving right as Bad Bunny prepares for another massive milestone: his Super Bowl halftime performance.

The first released version of the BadBo 1.0 is limited to 1,994 pairs, a nod to Bad Bunny’s birth year and the beginning of his story. Retailing at $160, the sneaker is available exclusively through badbunnyadidas.com, adding to its collectible appeal.

With a Grammy win, a Super Bowl halftime show and his first signature shoe all unfolding within the same week, Bad Bunny’s latest update feels bigger than a product launch. It’s a reminder that his journey doesn’t fit into just one box.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy: DNA Testing of Crime Scene Could Take Several Days

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:22am

Today co-anchorSavannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing after she was abducted from her Arizona home—and it could still take days to complete DNA testing from the crime scene.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Today offered an update on Nancy's missing case after the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) launched a search for Nancy, 84, on Sunday, Feb. 1. They described her as a “vulnerable adult” who was last seen at her home outside Tucson on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31. The PCSD  declared her home a crime scene on Monday, Feb. 2, revealing later that day that she Nancy was “taken” from her bed “against her will,” in the middle of the night.

Tuesday's episode of Today saw Sheinelle Jones stepping in again for Savannah alongside Craig Melvin as the search continued for her mother. To begin, the duo shared Savannah's Instagram post asking for prayers.

Reporting from Tucson, NBC correspondent Liz Kreutz explained, "While the sheriff tells us they have received many tips from the public and community, he says they still don't have a solid lead."

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos pointed out, "When you're taken from your bed and you don't want to go there, that's an abduction," as Kreutz clarified that he "meant that figuratively" and that Nancy "wasn't literally taken from her bed."

Overnight, Nanos also reported possible DNA evidence found at the crime scene. "We took some samples that we hope will have enough profile of a DNA—profile that gives us some identification as to what we're looking at," he said.

Additionally, Nanos said it could be "several more days" before they will have conclusive DNA test results for the samples from the crime scene.

On Monday, Nanos told Tom Llamas on NBC Nightly News, “We believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and that’s how this investigation is moving,” per Today.com. He added, “I can’t think of the last time, where in the middle of the night, in someone’s bed, an 84-year-old woman disappeared on us.

As of writing, Nancy still had not been located.

United Touts Its New Fast, Free Starlink Wi-Fi in Super Bowl Ad

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:10am

United Airlines is taking its inflight Wi-Fi victory lap on the biggest advertising stage of the year.

This weekend, United Airlines will spotlight its rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi in a new Super Bowl ad—timed to a milestone the airline quietly hit behind the scenes. In less than a year, United has installed Starlink on more than 300 two-cabin regional aircraft, meaning fast, reliable connectivity is now available on a growing share of flights many travelers take every day.

To date, more than 25% of United’s daily departures now offer Starlink Wi-Fi, and over the past 10 months, about 7 million passengers have flown on Starlink-equipped planes. According to the airline, customer satisfaction scores for inflight Wi-Fi on those aircraft have nearly doubled—a notable shift for a perk travelers have long treated with skepticism.

"United customers are loving the new Wi-Fi experience onboard our Starlink-equipped aircraft," said United's VP of Digital Technology, Grant Milstead. "We're rolling out Starlink at an unprecedented speed and scale, and our milestone for our regional fleet is just the beginning."

United Spotlights Starlink Wi-Fi in New Big Game Ad as Airline Completes Installation on 300+ Regional Aircraft

United

United’s new ad marks the milestone in reverent fashion, evoking another giant leap forward. Styled like a conversation between ground control and the cockpit in a space mission, the spot imagines passengers streaming live sports, playing online games and staying connected in ways that historically just weren’t realistic at 30,000 feet. “It’s Wi-Fi that actually works? That’s one giant leap for inflight Wi-Fi,” the voice-over says.

“We are focused on what we call ‘travel truths’ in our advertising,” said Maggie Schmerin, United’s chief advertising officer. “Starlink is transforming the inflight experience on United planes with reliable connectivity that enables everything from productivity to streaming the biggest football game of the season.”

Related: Delta's New WiFi Milestone Has Travelers Saying 'It's Amazing'

The campaign will air in select U.S. markets where Starlink-equipped regional jets already make up a large share of United’s operations, including cities like Indianapolis, Kansas City and Cincinnati—places where more than half of United flights now offer the upgraded Wi-Fi.

And this is just the beginning. United expects to install Starlink on more than 500 mainline aircraft by the end of 2026, bringing the total number of Starlink-equipped planes in its fleet to more than 800. The airline plans to accelerate installations across a wide range of aircraft types, from narrow-body jets to long-haul wide-bodies, pending regulatory approvals.

For travelers, the days of rationing screen time, crossing fingers before opening a laptop or waiting until landing to reconnect are starting to fade. United’s bet is that once passengers experience inflight Wi-Fi that feels closer to what they have on the ground, there’s no going back—and the Big Game spotlight is its way of telling flyers it’s already happening.

Cleveland Clinic’s 2026 Heart Survey Reveals What We Do and Don’t Know About How Our Heart Ages

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 7:00am

Every February, in honor of American Heart Month, Parade's longtime partners at the Cleveland Clinic share the results of a survey on the state of heart health in the United States. Their findings reveal what knowledge gaps we have, risky behaviors we may be unknowingly engaging in and how certain technologies and medications are actually impacting us.

This year, their focus is on how the heart ages. This is a topic near and dear to Parade readers, who work hard to keep their bodies in the best possible shape as they age while doing everything they can to prevent chronic disease.

1,273 adults were surveyed, and some of the results were surprising. “One of the main things we saw is that a lot of people who took the survey didn’t realize that they have risk factors for heart disease," Cleveland Clinic cardiologistDr. Ashish Sarraju, MD, tells Parade. "There’s still a surprising lack of awareness, according to the survey, about even things that we might think are obvious at this point, like smoking."

This speaks to the importance of physicians and people in public health not assuming that everybody knows the standard risk factors for heart disease, Dr. Sarraju continues. "They should use every opportunity when you interact with a patient to reinforce what they might think are the most basic risk factors."

Below, we get into what the survey results found regarding what people do and don't know about risk factors for heart disease—and what lifestyle changes we can make to keep our hearts in tip-top shape well into old age.

1 in 4 Americans Don’t Know if They’re at Increased Risk for Heart Disease

Nora Carol Photography/Getty Images

24% of Americans don't know if they're at risk for heart disease, but most of them (69%) have factors associated with increased risk. These include:

  • High blood pressure (31%)
  • High cholesterol (24%)
  • Family history (23%)
  • Obesity (20%)
  • Poor diet (18%)
  • Sedentary lifestyle (17%)
  • Daily unmanaged stress (16%)
  • Sleep apnea (15%)
  • Smoking (14%)
  • Diabetes (13%)

Further, most adults think of longevity as sustained physical and mental health later in life, and they don’t see it as something that’s out of reach for most people. To them, longevity means staying physically active and mobile as they age, maintaining cognitive health and mental sharpness and lowering the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease.

Related: Cardiologists Are Begging People To Stop Ignoring This Important Cholesterol Number

70% of Americans Believe the Heart Physically Peaks in Their 20s or 30s

While the majority of Americans do believe heart health is optimal when they're younger, 95% say there are things a person in their current stage of life can do to increase their longevity and reduce the risk of heart disease.

And they're right about that. According to Dr. Sarraju, the American Heart Association has a framework called Life's Essential 8. "It addresses eight very basic, fundamental risk factors for heart disease, starting with diet and exercise," he says. "For example, eating a heart-healthy, Mediterranean-style diet, exercising for 150 minutes at a moderate intensity level per week (or 75 minutes of high-intensity exercise per week) and strength training two or three times per week."

Sleep is another important (and often overlooked) one. "You want to try to get seven to eight hours of good quality sleep," Dr. Sarraju says. "It's important to work on good routines or sleep hygiene to get that under control. And along with those risk factors, it's important to visit your physician to make sure other risk factors you may not know about are also controlled. Those include cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, controlling your weight and of course, avoiding smoking."

If we try to hit a perfect score on controlling at least these risk factors, he explains, "you're going to do a tremendous job of controlling your risk for heart disease as you age and improving quality of life."

Related: The Heart-Healthy Habit Cardiologists Say Most People Quit Way Too Soon

Many Americans Are Unaware of Factors That Impact Heart Disease Risk

As discussed above, 34% of survey respondents are unaware that smoking greatly increases a person’s risk of heart disease. Other numbers stand out, too: 44% of people are unaware that physical inactivity is a major risk factor for heart disease, and 71% are unaware that a woman’s risk of heart disease increases after menopause.

Related: This Is Hands Down the Worst Food for Artery Health, a Cardiologist Warns

"With menopause, there’s a higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome," Dr. Sarraju explains. "This means high triglycerides, more weight gain, higher blood pressure and cholesterol levels that may go up."

And, he says, the hormonal changes associated with menopause lead to a higher risk of heart disease overall. "So when you’re in that perimenopausal or post-menopausal period, it's important to keep an eye on these risk factors if you weren’t before. Make sure you know that whatever treatment strategy you were using for these risk factors before menopause may need to be updated after menopause to overcome the biological changes you’re making."

Prince William Finds Comfort in His ‘Other Mother,’ According to a Royal Butler

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 6:33am

Behind the royal spotlight, Prince William has quietly relied on a trusted figure he considers his “other mother.” According to a royal butler, her support has been a steady presence, helping him carry on the empathy and grace demonstrated by his mother, Princess Diana.

Former royal butler Grant Harold told Marie Claire (on behalf of Heart Bingo Online) that William has found a trusted confidante in his mother-in-law, Carole Middleton. They have a close relationship built over two decades.

"William always had a good relationship with both Kate’s parents, but especially her mother, Carole,” Harold began. “When I was working with the family, he used to go and spend weekends at their house, which I know he really enjoyed.”

“They are a warm and welcoming family, and I imagine they gave him some of the normality he craved during his 20s and 30s,” the former staffer continued. Harold believed the prince felt that Middleton was "a second mother.”

Michael spoke for himself and his wife, telling the cameras, "Carole and I are absolutely delighted by today's announcement and thrilled by the prospect of a wedding sometime next year. As you know, Catherine and Prince William have been going out together for quite a number of years, which is great for us because we've got to know William really well."

The statement concluded, "We all think he's wonderful and we're extremely fond of him. They make a lovely couple. They're great fun to be with, and we've had a lot of laughs together. We wish them every happiness for the future."

Carole and Michael Middleton are regularly included in major royal family events. They have attended Kate's Together at Christmas annual holiday celebration, as well as Queen Elizabeth's funeral, King Charles' coronation, and Royal Ascot.

Over the years, Carole Middleton has become more than a mother-in-law to Prince William; she’s a trusted confidante. Their close bond shows how family support continues to shape William's life.

Iconic 2000s Indie Rock Band Announce Return to Japan's Music Festival After 15 Years

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 6:30am

The Strokes announced their return to Asia for a highly anticipated music festival.

The iconic indie rock band sparked excitement after Summer Sonic 2026 unveiled the headliners for this year’s event.

The forthcoming event, which is considered one of the largest urban music festivals in Japan, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

To ramp up the buzz, the festival has invited global music artists to headline the three-day event, including The Strokes.

In an Instagram post, the five-piece American rock band, fronted by Julian Casablancas, teased fans with news about their upcoming performance.

“Japan, we’re headed your way this August for @summersonic_official,” the caption reads.

The post sent fans into a frenzy, with many expressing how thrilled they are to see the band in person and to hear them perform their classic hits.

“See you in Tokyo!” one wrote.

“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SING MY WAY IN JAPANESE AGAIN,” a follower said.

“SING WELCOME 2 JAPAN IN THE GHOSTBUSTERS SHIRT BABY JULES,” a commenter said.

“Welcome to Japan, again,” a fan echoed, referring to their 2013 hit song.

On the other hand, fans speculated that their upcoming concert in Japan is more than just a festival performance and might hint at a possible album release.

“YALL. Every time they’ve done Summer Sonic, they dropped an album. 2003, 2011 and now 2026. THIS IS HUGE,” an Instagram user pointed out.

The same goes for another who said, "I have a feeling we’re getting an album this year.”

Japan’s Summer Sonic 2026 will kick off on Aug. 14 to Aug. 16 in two locations: ZOZO Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe in Tokyo and the other at Expo '70 Commemorative Park in Suita, Osaka.

Joining The Strokes as headliners is the Japanese rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel.

In addition, the event also features a slew of international acts, including the ‘90s funk and acid jazz band Jamiroquai, British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, Kasabian, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Steve Lacy, Pendulum, Suede, Alex Warren and David Byrne as special guests.

Furthermore, K-pop group LE SSERAFIM will also make their festival debut.

Besides the lineup of local artists and bands such as Sakanaction, Cornelius, Suchmos, Hitsujibungaku and Tatsuya Kitani, Irish band Kodaline is set for a farewell performance before disbanding.

As mentioned, this will be the third time that The Strokes have been invited to Japan’s Summer Sonic. The first was in 2003 when they performed in Osaka and Tokyo while touring for their second album, Room on Fire.

Eight years later, the band returned as headliners with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

7 Best Travel Beauty Sets, According to Celebrity Makeup Artists

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 6:15am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you’ve ever overpacked your makeup and toiletry bags only to use the same few products on repeat, a thoughtfully curated travel beauty set can completely change how you pack. Travel puts different demands on your skin, hair and makeup, especially when you’re dealing with dry cabin air, changing climates and limited space. The right beauty sets can simplify your routine while still giving you everything you need to feel put together upon arrival.

No matter where you’re headed, a well-curated travel beauty set can make all the difference once you arrive. After years of frequent travel, I’ve learned that the best kits aren’t just about saving space. They help streamline your routine while still allowing you to look and feel like yourself, even far from home.

To find the best travel beauty sets worth packing, I spoke with two celebrity makeup artists and beauty experts, Jewels Grogan andAnn Benjamas Liendo, about what they look for when traveling and the kits they recommend. “When I’m looking for a travel beauty set, it’s the best time to try a new brand without committing to a full line. Similarly, if you are married to a routine, having travel sizes is essential so you don’t end up trying to decant your ride or die products into random plastic bottles, and then remembering to use them up after my trip,” says Grogan.

Ahead, 7 standout beauty kits spanning hair, makeup and skincare to help you look and feel flawless while traveling.

Hydration is essential for any type of travel, especially when you’re heading somewhere sunny or dealing with long days in dry cabin air. A well-rounded set should support your skin morning to night without requiring extra products. “This set from Belif is packed with their best-selling hydration line. This has all the essentials for a full routine and will work for a multitude of climates,” says Grogan.

Best Skincare Essentials Set: Ogee The Discovery Set

For Grogan, a well-edited discovery set makes it easier to explore a brand without committing to full-size products. "Ogee is one of my favourite organic and truly considered and curated skincare brands. I use the cleansing face oil religiously. It’s perfect for face and eyes and leaves the skin so soft. The exfoliator is perfect for face but in a pinch you can also use it on your body, especially the décolletage, to remove the day’s sunscreen and sweat. The eye cream is so brightening and nourishing. This set has more than enough swag for a full hydrating and restorative skincare routine," she says.

Sometimes hotels and vacation rentals lack reliable, high-quality hair care products, especially when your hair is adjusting to new climates. Having a hydrating shampoo and conditioner duo that is suitable for all hair types is very helpful. This kit also includes a microfiber hair towel, which is a great add-on. “Once you try the travel size and feel how light and decongested your scalp feels after using it, you’ll want to try the entire line. I also highly recommend their leave-in conditioner. It’s incredible, especially after a day in the pool or by the beach, to rehydrate your hair," Grogan says.

Best Makeup Staples Set: ILIA Minis For Any Mood Clean Travel Makeup Set

For Grogan, a travel makeup set should include versatile staples you actually use on vacation. "I love this ILIA set, and it has all my favourites. I love the multi-stick—it’s perfect for a glowy blush and lip color on vacation. The mascara is a very clean formula, and mini wands are often easier to use. The pencil is also a favourite of mine for really precise application and can double as lip liner and lipstick in a universally flattering shade," she says.

For Liendo, brows are the quickest way to look polished when traveling, especially with a compact, no-fuss routine. “I love brow products that are efficient, forgiving and travel- friendly. I always start with the brow mascara to softly coat greys and add dimension, then follow with the pencil only where needed to fill sparse areas—this keeps brows looking fuller without looking harsh," she says.

Best Makeup Complexion Set:Sweed Beauty Complexion Kit

When it comes to complexion products, Liendo looks for formulas that hydrate well and still look natural on the skin, which is ideal for a glowy day-time makeup look. “Sweed is one of my go-to brands for mature, dehydrated skin because the foundation is deeply hydrating with beautiful medium-to-full coverage that never looks heavy. It builds seamlessly and pairs effortlessly with their bronzer and blush, no over-application required. The result is polished, healthy skin that still looks like skin," she says.

Best Glow Set:ICONIC London Everyday Glow Set

Liendo gravitates toward glow products that enhance skin without emphasizing texture.
“These products aren’t just for professional kits—they’re incredible for everyday wear, especially if your skin is dry or textured. They give an instant glow that softens the appearance of fine lines and brings life back to the complexion without emphasizing texture. Think healthy, luminous skin with minimal effort," she says.

A Major Cruise Line Is Expanding Its Concierge-Class ‘Ship Within a Ship’ Experience

          Tue, 02/03/2026 - 6:10am

Luxury at sea is getting a little more accessible—at least for travelers who know where to look.

MSC Cruises has announced plans to expand its signature MSC Yacht Club experience to two additional ships, bringing the cruise line’s most exclusive “ship within a ship” concept to even more itineraries starting in late 2026.

If you’ve never heard of it, the MSC Yacht Club is essentially a private enclave tucked inside a larger cruise ship. Guests stay in spacious suites and enjoy an all-inclusive experience that includes 24-hour butler service, a dedicated concierge and access to private spaces that feel worlds away from the main decks—while still being just steps from the ship’s theaters, pools and restaurants.

Related: MSC Cruises Announces a New Class of Mega Ships With an Adventurous New Name

The expansion will add the MSC Yacht Club to MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra, completing the rollout across the entire Musica class. MSC Musica is scheduled to debut the experience ahead of its South America season in late 2026, followed by MSC Orchestra in early 2027 when it begins sailing Mediterranean itineraries from Bari, Italy.

For guests, the appeal is all about contrast. Inside the Yacht Club, the vibe is quiet, polished and exclusive, with a private restaurant, lounge and sundeck reserved just for Yacht Club guests. Outside, the rest of the ship offers the full cruise experience—big entertainment, multiple dining venues and lively public spaces. It’s luxury without isolation.

Related: MSC Cruises to Add Two New Ships to International Fleet for 2030 and 2031

Yacht Club guests receive daily in-suite treats, premium bath amenities created specifically for the experience, and even services like unpacking and packing. Private shopping hours in onboard boutiques and customized shore excursions can also be arranged, adding another layer of personalization.

With these additions, the MSC Yacht Club will soon be available on 19 ships across the fleet, signaling just how central the concept has become to the brand’s identity.

For guests who want the energy of a big ship with a little more breathing room, the expansion makes that balance easier to find.

Norwegian Cruise Line Is Quietly Bringing Back Some of Its Most Epic Routes

          Tue, 02/03/2026 - 5:45am

If your idea of a dream cruise involves places that feel far-flung, a little rugged and very much worth the journey, there’s some good news from Norwegian Cruise Line. After a few seasons focused heavily on the Caribbean and Bahamas, the cruise line is bringing back sailings to some of its most bucket-list-worthy regions for 2027 and 2028.

The biggest return? South America—and even a taste of Antarctica.

After a two-year absence, Norwegian will once again send ships to the southern tip of the world beginning in late 2027. From December 2027 through March 2028, travelers will be able to book 15- and 16-day itineraries sailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago,Chile. These longer voyages visit ports in Argentina and Chile, stop in the Falkland Islands, and include scenic cruising near Antarctica—one of those rare moments where you’re standing on deck, bundled up, watching ice and sea stretch endlessly in front of you.

To open and close the season, Norwegian is also planning transatlantic sailings between Lisbon and Buenos Aires, with stops in Brazil, Uruguay and Cape Verde—an old-school ocean crossing with a distinctly modern itinerary.

South America isn’t the only region getting renewed attention. Norwegian’s winter 2027/2028 plans also skew heavily across Asia, with cruises sailing from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. These itineraries are designed to spend more time in port, including overnight stays that make it easier to explore beyond the usual highlights—whether that means temples near Kyoto or late nights sampling street food in Hong Kong.

Farther south, Australia and New Zealand are also back in a big way. From late 2027 into early 2028, Norwegian will offer a wide range of itineraries in the region, from shorter eight-day trips to longer, nearly three-week journeys. Highlights include overnight stays in major Australian cities and first-time visits to lesser-known ports, giving repeat visitors something new to look forward to.

“We’re thrilled to unveil our new immersive winter season, giving travelers the ultimate freedom to create their own adventure,” said Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Harry Sommer. “With longer port stays, overnight calls, and our award-winning onboard experiences, guests can explore at their own pace and personalize every moment at ease.”

For cruisers who’ve been waiting for Norwegian to lean back into exploration, this feels like a return to form—and a reminder that not every unforgettable cruise stays close to home.

Don McLean Explains 'American Pie' as America ‘Coming Apart at the Seams’

          Tue, 02/03/2026 - 5:42am

More than half a century after “American Pie” first topped the charts, Don McLean is still reflecting on the song that turned a childhood memory into a sweeping portrait of a changing nation.

In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, McLean described "American Pie" as “the requiem for the kind of life that we all had dreamed would be in the sixties,” framing the song not simply as a tribute to fallen musicians, but as a meditation on an America losing its sense of unity.

“I was conscious of the fact that I was trying to create a rock’n’roll dream sequence,” McLean said. “But it was way more than rock’n’roll. It was about an America that was coming apart at the seams.”

McLean has long explained that the song’s opening verse was rooted in a real moment from his adolescence. On February 3, 1959, the day Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and JP "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed in a plane crash after performing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, McLean was a 13-year-old paperboy in New Rochelle, New York.

“The opening part of the song was born in one piece,” he said. “I wrote it remembering how it was the day I saw the newspaper, and the article that said my favourite artist had been killed. That got me started.”

From there, "American Pie" grew into an eight-and-a-half-minute epic that stitched together music, memory, and metaphor. While listeners have spent decades debating the identities behind its cryptic lyrics, McLean has consistently resisted providing a definitive roadmap.

“There are many interpretations of my lyrics, but none by me,” he said. “I was trying to write about America, not Elvis or The Beatles. They were missing the point really, by trying to say who’s this and who’s that in the song.”

Despite its unconventional length, "American Pie" became a cultural juggernaut. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972, later earned a place in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, and was reintroduced to a new generation when Madonna scored a global hit with a shortened cover in 2000.

Even as McLean has resisted pinning down fixed meanings, "American Pie" continues to evolve alongside the culture it reflects. The song’s legacy now stretches beyond the recording itself, inspiring books, documentaries, and live performances that revisit its themes through new lenses. In 2026, that includes Inside American Pie, a docu-concert created by Canadian musicians and theater artists that deconstructs the song line by line while tracing the musical and historical moments it references.

Now, more than 65 years after the tragedy that inspired its opening lines, McLean’s song continues to resonate as both a personal elegy and a broader reflection on American disillusionment. As he put it, "American Pie" endures not because it answers questions, but because it invites listeners to keep asking them.

The Three Dog Night ’70s Hit Fans Loved—but Chuck Negron Didn’t

          Tue, 02/03/2026 - 5:40am

Three Dog Night ruled ’70s radio, but according to lead singer Chuck Negron, the band’s most beloved hit wasn’t one of his favorites.

In 2023, Negron spoke to Forbes about the band’s legacy and its biggest hit. With a string of unforgettable tunes that ruled the Billboard charts, he offered a surprising look at how he viewed the song fans loved most.

"['Joy to the World'], it's not one of my favorites in the essence of a song," Negron explained. "It’s not close to being something representative of the band. It does show how eclectic we could be, though. Of course, we all love it because it changed our lives."

He explained that the band recorded the song and then hit the road. They then learned "Joy to the World" was going to be released as a single.

Despite his feelings about the tune as not representative of Three Dog Night, Negron "did have a feeling" that it would be a hit. He explained, "I just didn’t know if it was the right song for the band."

"Anyway, it became bigger than us. It was so big that the Grammys invited us as guest artists to sing 'Joy,' and we weren’t even eligible for nomination that year! The following year, we sang it again at the Grammys - it was nominated for two of them," he added.

Negron concluded, "The song was a hit for an entire year. By the end of that time, people hated it. The DJs played it every hour. You couldn’t get away from the damn thing!"

However, when he was asked why "Joy to the World" was ultimately so popular, Negron responded, " It was a carefree, fun song, and those lines, 'Joy to the world, all the boys and girls' - I mean, joy to everybody, even the fishes. That sentiment hit all the demographics, the core of America."

According to the band's official website, Three Dog Night released 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including a trio of No. 1 hits: “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”, “Joy to the World”, and “Liar." Other beloved tunes include "Old Fashioned Love Song," "One (Is the Loneliest Number)," "Shambala," "Never Been to Spain," and "Celebrate."

In a 2023 interview with Forbes, Chuck Negron said he hoped to be remembered as “a good parent and husband, and yes, a hell of a singer, too.” He died on February 2 at age 83.
