25-Year-Old Who ‘Grew up Dirt Poor’ Claims She’s Saved up 100K for Retirement— Here’s What Gen-Xers and Boomers Can Learn
As a 44-year-old freelance writer, I could only dream of having a solid nest egg waiting for me when I hit retirement. So when I hear about people who are significantly younger than I am who already have a massive head start on their savings, I pay attention.
That's why this story about a 25-year-old woman really caught my eye. She posted on Reddit about her retirement savings, noting she'd saved more than $100,000. And, she was eager to share the wealth, so to speak, so she generously broke down exactly how she made it happen. I'm not going to lie, I definitely learned something from her post, and I think you might too, especially if you're in a position to throw a little extra money into your savings. Keep reading to find out what worked for her.
A Redditor Says She Saved $100,000 for Retirement at 25The young woman shared her story on the popular Money subreddit, posting a photo of her retirement account, which had $101,388.97 in it as of mid-April.
"I frontload my 401(k) contributions at the beginning of the year (to capitalize on time in the market) until I reach the point where I can coast on contributing only my employer match percentage and still max at the end of the year," she explained in the caption, adding that she also maxes out her contributions to her Roth IRA at the start of the year as well.

Her caption continued explaining her finances, noting that with her other accounts, she had amassed another $180,000, with the following breakdown:
- $6,000 in a brokerage account
- $74,000 in a high-yield savings account
- $50,000 set aside for a down payment on a house
- $24,000 in an emergency fund, which would cover about a single year of expenses
The woman closed her post by noting that she didn't have any student loan debt because she received an academic scholarship, and that she had spent the majority of her adult life living below her means, including renting her own place with part of her $100,000 salary (which included overtime).
"Grew up dirt poor and no one in my family has ever been able to retire, so this really means a lot," she wrote in part, adding that she was looking for any advice on how she could further optimize her savings for a better outcome.

Redditors Offered Plenty of SupportPeople rallied around her, celebrating her financial successes while also adding their own stories and suggestions. "Good job. As for optimization, perhaps less focus on high-yield savings accounts and instead all further amounts go into the Nasdaq 100," one person wrote. "Over a 10-year period. This way, you can capture as much growth as possible in that tranche of your portfolio while you're still young. You will dollar cost average (DCA) through the peaks and valleys during this 10-year period."
Another person suggested focusing on the emergency fund, but specifically with a future mortgage payment included to get a head start on that.
"Are you looking for a husband?" a third person joked.
It's really impressive to see how much this woman was able to save, and it gives a lot of context to know how she's managed to put aside so much on her salary. Hopefully, this gives others an idea of what they can accomplish by optimizing their savings, no matter how close to retirement they may already be. If you assume this woman has only been working since graduating college, she has truly been able to do a lot in a short amount of time, highlighting how every little bit helps, especially for those nearing retirement age.

Audrey Hepburn’s Son Opens up About His Famous Mother, Her Marriages, and Her Legacy
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Audrey Hepburn’s son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, shared insights into his famous mother’s life.
Known for roles in some of the most beloved films of the 20th century, Audrey Hepburn starred in classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday, Funny Face, and Sabrina. More than just an actress, Hepburn was known as a style icon whose influence fans still emulate decades later.
The beloved actress is even the subject of a new biopic starring (and produced by) Lily Collins. Last February, Collins revealed her new role, posting (on Instagram), “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I am finally able to share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel.”
Collins certainly isn’t the only one who admires and adores the Holly Golightly legend. And while there are countless books written about her, Hepburn’s son, Sean, is now preserving her legacy through Intimate Audrey: The Authorized Biography (co-authored with Wendy Holden). The 65-year-old biographer/conservator opened up in a candid Vanity Fairinterview, saying, “I liked the idea that the manuscript could be, above all, the one that is placed at the top of the pile, the same as a history book, to ensure that there will always be an authoritative account, narrated in part by herself.”
The recent interview with Hepburn’s son covered everything from World War II to the star’s very public marriages. He also talked about his mother’s lasting legacy as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, noting, “There is a family and cultural component, something that is passed on from one generation to the next. I myself am passing it on to my children, with whom I have traveled and done projects. My daughter, Emma, for example, has worked for UNICEF and UNHCR.”
British actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn (1929 - 1993) with an Ethiopian girl on her first field mission for UNICEF in Ethiopia, 16th-17th March 1988. (Photo by Derek Hudson/Getty Images)During the course of the interview, Hepburn Ferrer discusses both of his mother’s marriages—first to his father, actor/director/producer Mel Ferrer (who already had four children from previous relationships), and later to the Italian psychiatrist, Andrea Dotti (with whom Hepburn shared a son, Luca). Hepburn Ferrer also talked about his mother’s final relationship with Dutch actor Rob Wolders, sharing, “In her third relationship she found peace, beauty, and affection. My mother was able to trust him and in that sense theirs was a good relationship.”
Given that it’s certainly not the first of its kind (but may very well be the most authoritative, considering the source), how does Hepburn’s son view the new bio? He explains, “The goal of this book was to take this woman, whose legend is taking her a little bit to the sky, as if she were a balloon, and bring her back down to earth.”
1981 Hit Power Ballad, Ranked Among Band’s Greatest Songs, Was Released Twice—‘The Whole Country Was Playing’ Breakup Anthem
In 1981, Def Leppard released their song “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak.” The song was the second single from the English rock band’s album High ‘n’ Dry.
Written by band members Joe Elliott, Steve Clark, and Pete Willis, “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak” was a power ballad that featured gut-wrenching lyrics about unrequited love. The song didn’t initially chart, and it wasn’t until MTV began playing the music video in heavy rotation that it got a second life.
The performance video was initially shot for Don Kirshner's Rock Concert when producers for the then-new MTV added it to their playlist as well.
“The High 'n' Dry album was already history on the charts, but then MTV started playing ‘Bringin' On the Heartbreak,'" manager Cliff Burnstein said in the bookAnimal Instinct. "Slowly but surely, we started getting sales reports on the record, and it started selling about 5,000 copies a week – which was enough to get it back on the charts. This was a whole new ball game.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone in 2016, Elliott revealed, “MTV, having nothing to play, liked the idea of this young U.K. rock band, so they picked it up. So six months, maybe a year after High 'n' Dry came out, we were making Pyromania, and we started getting these telexes from the States saying, 'Your album is selling 6,000, 7,000, 8,000 copies a week.' Then it was 10, 15, 20,000 copies a week. It was heading toward platinum by the time we had Pyromania in the bag. Because of MTV, by 1982, the whole country was playing 'Heartbreak.'"
When Def Leppard released their follow-up album Pyromania in 1984, they capitalized on its popularity by reissuing the High ‘n’ Dry album with a revamped version of “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak”. The lush, synth-heavy remix peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 30, 1984. A new music video was also released.
Decades later, Ultimate Classic Rock ranked “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak” at No. 4 on a long list of Def Leppard’s best songs. The only songs that ranked higher were the radio hits “Hysteria,” “Photograph,” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”

The song underwent another rearrangement for live showsMore than 40 years later, “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak” remains one of Def Leppard’s signature songs. It received a third rearrangement for the band’s live shows.
In an interview with Songfacts, co-lead guitarist Phil Collen, who joined Def Leppard in 1982 after the original version of "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" was released, revealed that he came up with an idea to rearrange the song to be primarily acoustic for live shows.
“I think it was just because we were doing it over and over again, and it was the same old, same old, so we thought it would be great if we started it acoustic and then went into Steve Clark's solo,” he explained. “It was halfway, and he'd pick up his twin neck and off he goes.”
“So yeah, it was my idea originally,” the Def Leppard legend added. “What was interesting, around that time Tesla was on tour with us and every time we did that acoustic thing it was a break in the set, and before you knew it, every other band was doing an acoustic set within their set: The Scorpions, Bon Jovi, all the stuff from the '80s, and Tesla who was on tour with us.”

'Below Deck Down Under' Drama Erupts as Mike Durrant Clashes With Daisy Kelliher (Exclusive)
Deck/Stew Mike Durrant is pushing his luck on Below Deck Down Under when he tries to stir the pot, determined to throw stew Alesia Harris under the bus.
In a clip from tonight's episode, shared exclusively with Parade, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher calls out the "selfishness" among some of the crew members who claim they work harder than others. "I've seen people bickering in front of other crew," Daisy says. "It's been actually relentless, and the crux of it's been quite a lot of selfish behavior." Daisy adds that the crew should be leaning on teamwork and that the behavior has to stop.
Second Officer João Franco suggests the crew respect one another, with the heads of department thinking their remarks were enough to squash the squabbling. Unfortunately, their talk may have sparked new negative comments, as Mike snarks that Alesia has "really stepped up a lot."
Daisy immediately intervenes, telling Mike his comment isn't funny, while Alesia quietly tells Daisy she doesn't think she works harder than anyone. When Daisy tells Alesia she doesn't think Mike's comment was directed at her, Mike can't help but add, "Nice to presume, though. I think some people just need to relax."
At this point, Daisy has had enough. "Do that again, Mike, and I swear there will be a consequence." Now Alesia is tense, saying she needs to stay away from Mike.
"Is this real life?" Daisy wonders, exasperated in a confessional. "I'm talking to you about respect, and you're disrespecting me in the conversation of respect! Sorry... no...not how it works."
But now Mike claims he's "being attacked," adding, "So I'm going to react to it, do you know what I mean?"
Daisy asks Mike what he thinks the solution is, but he snipes, "I don't know, I'm not the boss."
"So you're going to put this back on me?" Daisy challenges him. "You're going to tell me I have to sort—" But Mike interrupts her, insisting he doesn't want to bicker with other people.
Now Daisy is getting even more irritated that Mike has put dealing with his behavior back on her. João steps in, telling Mike, "Please, don't get defensive—" Again, Mike interrupts his superior, saying, "It's my duty to tell you about a problem...it's for you to deal with it."
Clearly, Captain Jason Chambers ends up dealing with a crew issue because in the mid-season trailer, he sends one yachtie packing. Will it be Mike after he continues to push back against his chiefs? Stay tuned.
Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.

The 'Healthy' Drink That's Silently Damaging Your Liver, According to Hepatologists
When it comes to protecting your liver, you might think, "As long as I limit alcohol, I'm good." Hepatologists won't argue with part of that—limiting or eliminating alcohol from your life can go a long way in keeping your liver safe. But it's not the only drink that can harm your liver.
"There are several foods, beverages, medications and supplements besides alcohol that have the potential to cause damage to the liver," says Dr. Lee F. Peng, MD., Ph.D., the chief of gastroenterology and hepatology at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center and a professor of medicine at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
In fact, people who don't drink can develop liver disease. "The disease formerly known as NAFLD—nonalcoholic fatty liver disease—is now known as MASLD—metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease," Dr. Peng says. "MASLD develops when fat builds up in the liver because of metabolic syndrome, which consists of conditions including obesity, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol."
So, it's vital to know about how even so-called "healthy" drinks can silently damage your liver, especially given how vital the organ is. There are lots of "detox tips" on TikTok and Instagram, but your liver is actually a built-in detoxifier.
"Among its many tasks, one of the liver's most important jobs is to process the things we ingest," Dr. Peng explains. In general, the organ processes nutrients from the blood, produces bile for digestion, regulates blood sugar levels, synthesizes proteins for clotting and removes toxins such as alcohol and drugs. It also stores vitamins and minerals."
Pretty important, right? If that motivates you to treat this organ right, read on to learn of the healthy drink that's silently damaging your liver.

The ‘Healthy’ Drink That’s Silently Damaging Your Liver, According to Hepatologists"Fruit juices should be consumed in moderation," Dr. Peng reports. Indeed, while cartons and bottles of fruit juice usually hail their high vitamin C content (true), it's vital to look at the entire label. Fruit juices contain and lack some ingredients that can contribute to liver damage if you drink them daily, as many of us did with orange juice as kids—live and learn.
"Gulping down fruit juices with every meal can indeed result in weight gain and insulin resistance," explains Dr. Abdul Nadir, MD, a gastroenterologist specializing in hepatology with HonorHealth.
Dr. Nadir adds that drinking too much fruit juice can also lead to fat accumulation in the liver, resulting in scarring (aka cirrhosis) and damage to the liver's architecture. Dr. Nadir says the consequences are "life-threatening." Dr. Peng agrees, adding that too much fruit juice can raise your risk of developing MASLD (or make it worse if you're already living with it).
Related: One Common Habit That Could Be Damaging Your Liver, According to a Gastroenterologist
Why Fruit Juice Can Damage the LiverFruit juice has a bit of a health halo—it is made of fruit, after all. But it's not the same as whole fruit, and the lack of fiber and added sugar concerns hepatologists like Dr. Peng.
We hear a ton about fiber and gut health. As a reminder, the liver is a part of your digestive system. Fiber matters for liver function. Research, including a 2023 study in Frontiers in Public Health, suggests that increasing dietary fiber can help protect you against MASLD.
"Dietary fiber has the potential to enhance satiety, reduce blood sugar spikes by slowing the release of fructose and other sugars and lower insulin secretion," Dr. Peng says. "All of these things can help combat MASLD."
Speaking of sugar...
"There are no 'hidden' sugars in fruit juice," Dr. Peng adds. "The sugar content is there for everyone to see on the nutrition facts label. The primary sugar in fruit juices is fructose, the same sugar found in high fructose corn syrup."
He explains (and research supports) that consuming too much sugar can make it more likely that you'll experience "fat accumulation within the liver and contribute to the development of MASLD, and make existing MASLD worse."

Wait—Can I Never, Ever Drink Fruit Juice?"Fruit juice in moderation is OK," Dr. Nadir notes. Hepatologists don't think you have to swear off fruit juice completely, but it's not an everyday kind of beverage if you want to support your liver or your overall health. Dr. Nadir notes that excessive fruit juice intake can lead to GI issues, such as diarrhea and heartburn.
If you love the taste of something fruity, may we suggest whole fruit?
"Consume at least two servings of fruit daily," Dr. Peng states. "Choose fresh or frozen fruits. If you consume canned fruit, choose fruit canned in its own juice—not sugar syrup—and drain the juice before eating."
Dr. Nadir shares that there's no one best fruit for your liver. But you should be mindful of ones with high fructose content, especially if you have or are at risk for developing liver disease. High fructose in any form (juice, fruit or sugary foods) can contribute to liver damage and disease.
A doctor can help you better understand your risk for liver disease and even refer you to a dietitian, who can help you eat to support your unique body and health status.

2004 Best-Seller 'The Line of Beauty' Named 'One of the Most Brilliant Novels Ever Written'
It's not very often when a novel is described as one of the best novels of the 21st century yet.
But if anyone is fit to award that unique distinction, it's the always literary-minded critics of The Times.
Evaluating some of the greatest book releases of the century to date, The Times specifically named Hilary Mantel's best-selling novel, Bring Up the Bodies, as the best literary work of the 21st century yet.
However, they were also quick to heap praise on the second best book of the century: Alan Hollinghurst's sweeping 2004 novel, The Line of Beauty.
"This is one of the most brilliant novels ever written about the British class system," The Times said of Hollinghurst's book. "It has comedy, tragedy, political scandal and drug-fuelled hedonism. It even has a dancing Mrs Thatcher. Every sentence is a work of beauty."
The 2004 winner of the prestigious Man Booker Prize, The Line of Beauty takes place in 1980s London during the height of Margaret Thatcher's years as prime minister.
Following a young gay protagonist named Nick Guest, the story explores the wealth, class and social disparity prevalent throughout the United Kingdom in the '80s, exploring the hyprocisies at the heart of Thatcher's England.
"Alan Hollinghurst can write about outdoor 'bumshoving' with a rare elegance and candour," The Times said of the author's work. "This is a novel with a powerful political charge."
Like The Times, many well-respected critics and literary outlets shared a similarly positive response to Hollinghurst's book. Among other honors, The Guardian ranked The Line of Beauty favorably on their list for the best books of the 21st century.
"Thatcher-era degeneracy is lavishly displayed as Nick falls in love with the son of a supermarket magnate, and the novel records how Aids began to poison gay life in London," the outlet wrote. "In peerless prose, Hollinghurst captures something close to the spirit of an age."
This is Your Perfect Mocktail, Based on Your Birth Date
Non-alcoholic cocktails, or "mocktails," are growing in popularity, and for good reason. There’s a noticeable shift that occurs when you begin to pay attention to what you genuinely desire, rather than simply opting for what’s available. Mocktails emphasize this experience by encouraging you to select drinks based on taste, feeling, and your current mood, rather than just going along with what’s on hand. Additionally, they help you stay present in the moment, allowing you to notice the flavors, the texture, and how the drink feels in your body as you consume it.
In my intuitive work and in my book Sober Magic: Using Tarot and Ritual in Your Journey Away From Drinking, I focus on what happens when you start making choices with awareness rather than out of habit. It’s less about taking something away and more about noticing what’s already there through your preferences, your patterns, and what actually feels good to you. Birth date numerology offers a cosmic lens for discovering where our mocktail preferences may lean. Read on to explore what mocktail you should taste test, according to your birth date.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Alison Sweeney ‘Heartbroken’ Over the Sudden Death of Her Longtime On-Screen Love Interest
Patrick Muldoon, best known for his role on Days of Our Lives, has died at 57 following a reported heart attack, according to Deadline. Now, former co-star Alison Sweeney is paying tribute to her former scene partner.
Muldoon portrayed Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from July 1992 until April 1995, later returning for a 10-month stint, 16 years later, in 2011.
During his time on the show, Muldoon’s character, Austin Reed, was at the center of a popular love quadrangle involving Sweeney’s character Sami Brady, her sister Carrie Brady (Christie Clark) and Austin’s brother Lucas Roberts (Bryan Dattilo).
As the storyline evolved, Sami’s feelings for Austin intensified into an obsessive love, becoming one of the show’s most talked about arcs. At one point, she sought guidance from her mother, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), during the show’s infamous devil possession storyline. With ‘her’ advice, Sami set out determined to make Austin hers, no matter the cost.
In a controversial storyline, Sami met Austin at the local dive bar, The Cheating Heart, and proceeded to spike his drink. Sami then decided to take advantage of the opportunity and forced him and have sex. Shortly afterwards she also had sex with his brother Lucas. This led to the conception of her son Will Horton, and the popular love quadrangle would run for decades.
Reflecting on Muldoon’s passing, Sweeney shared a heartfelt message on her personal X (formerly Twitter) account. “This is such heartbreaking news. Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit.”
She also recalled how he supported her early in her career. “I was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away. He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day.”
Sweeney concluded her post sharing, “A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”
Days of Our Lives streams new episodes weekdays on Peacock.
Royal Family Prepares for Major Shake-Up as Key Member 'Will Be Missed'
The British royal family is preparing for a major shake-up, as Prince William and Kate Middleton's eldest son, Prince George, is heading off to boarding school in a few months.
In September, the future king, 12, will begin secondary school, a milestone that royal author Robert Jobson told Hello! magazine will be an "emotional time" for the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Still, boarding school is a great opportunity for Prince George as he continues his education and one day become king. "It's a chance for him to spread his wings and take part in things in the afternoons and evenings instead of going home to Mum and Dad," Jobson explained.
She continued, of Prince William and Middleton, "Both of them know what it was like; they both boarded, so they know how it works. William used to go to visit the late Queen [Elizabeth II] and Duke of Edinburgh [Prince Philip] at Windsor while he was at Eton College, but that has to be organised. You can't just pop home when you want to."

As Prince George embarks on this new chapter of his education, his two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, almost 11, and Prince Louis, almost 8, will remain at Forest Lodge on the Windsor Estate with their parents.
"They are such a tight family unit; George will be missed," Jobson speculated. "It will be like having an empty seat at the table."
In other recent royal news, on April 5, all five members of Prince William's family stepped out for the Easter Service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor for the first time in three years.
Other exciting upcoming events include Prince William and Middleton celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary on April 29. Prince Louis' 8th birthday is also coming on April 23, followed by Princess Charlotte's 11th birthday on May 2. Meanwhile, Prince George will turn 13 on July 22.

Red Lobster Finally Caves to Fan Demand With Revival of Top-Requested Menu Offering for a Limited Time
If you're the type to always order whatever shrimp offering is available when going out to eat, Red Lobster has the perfect selection for you.
Announced today, Monday, April 20, the popular seafood restaurant shared the news that it is officially bringing back its Endless Shrimp offer after overwhelming fan demand.
"As a thank you to fans who have made endless requests to bring back Endless Shrimp, Red Lobster is reviving one of its most popular experiences with five craveable dishes—from iconic favorites like Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Linguini Alfredo, and Parrot Isle Coconut Shrimp," a press release shared directly with Parade stated.

“This is about putting our guests first and bringing back something they truly love,” said Damola Adamolekun, CEO of Red Lobster. “Endless Shrimp has been a part of Red Lobster’s legacy for 20 years and our guests have never stopped asking for it. We’re excited to bring it back, for a limited time, in a way that works for our business today and honors what made it special from the beginning. Because when our fans talk, we listen.”
The change of heart was surprising for fans, as the CEO previously confirmed bringing back Endless Shrimp was not something in his plans.
The offer will be available for dine-in only, and there's no telling how long it'll be around, as Red Lobster hinted it's only here for a limited time.
With the beloved menu staple, the brand is also bringing forth a taste of something fresh with the addition of its brand-new Marry Me Shrimp: "Red Lobster’s take on the viral sensation, featuring tender shrimp in a tomato cream sauce, topped with a garlic and herb crumble."
Endless Shrimp first launched in 2004 as a limited-time offer before becoming a permanent menu item in 2023—a change that reportedly cost Red Lobster $11 million and drove the chain into bankruptcy in 2024, according to WRAL News.

Queen Elizabeth’s Death Marked 'End of an Era' for Royal Family, Expert Says
For 70 years, Queen Elizabeth reigned over the United Kingdom, giving a sense of stability to its monarchy and national identity, a continuity that many now say shifted dramatically following her passing.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward wrote a story for The Sun, where she discussed a significant shift within the royal family since the monarch's 2022 death. It ushered in a period of adjustment and change for its most senior members.
Elizabeth ascended to the royal family's highest role in 1952. She became queen after the death of her father, King George VI.
She was just 25 when she became head of the House of Windsor. Her coronation was not until 1953.

Seward believes that the royal family remains in flux after Elizabeth’s death. The turmoil the family has faced in recent years has tainted the crown’s legacy, including ongoing public scrutiny, internal rifts, and a shifting perception of the monarchy’s role in modern Britain.
"Tiny, reticent and dignified, the queen was always there as a pillar of stability and continuity. A smudge of vivid color on a stormy day," Seward wrote.

"We felt that as long as she was waving from the Palace balcony, surrounded by her expanding family, everything would be all right. The queen represented commitment, not only to the British people, but to everything that was good about Britain to a global audience."
"She exuded what is called majesty, and when her loyal staff went to see her in her private rooms, they talked about going into the presence. We knew it would be the end of an era when we lost Queen Elizabeth, but the chasm she has left in public life is vast," Seward concluded.

Seward believes that King Charles is having a more difficult reign. "He commands great respect, but he has not always done so. The very public breakdown of his marriage to [Princess] Diana and his intimate telephone recording with Camilla [Parker Bowles], published in January 1993, caused huge damage to his reputation."
"In the years since his mother’s death, he has dealt with his own cancer and that of his daughter-in-law Kate [Middleton]. He has battled with son Prince Harry’s endless problems. He has watched on worried that his beloved country could lose, or destroy, so many of the things that made it great over the years," Seward declared.
King Charles has worked to project continuity and stability within the monarchy, even as it adjusts to a period of significant change. Still, the institution continues to navigate shifting public expectations and internal challenges as it defines its post-Elizabeth era identity.
The United Kingdom celebrates Queen Elizabeth's 100 birthday on April 21, 2026.

The 'Dungeon Crawler Carl' TV Series Has the Exciting Update We Were All Hoping For
When the Dungeon Crawler Carl books by Matt Dinniman were optioned for TV, there was a lot of excitement. However, things seemed to go a little silent after the initial pick-up, and we’ve all been through book adaptation projects that haven’t come to fruition. ACOTAR fans know that problem well!
The great news is things are moving ahead with the LitRPG (literary role-playing game) series. Not only does it have a showrunner attached to it, but it also has a streaming home. Now the question is how it will be released.
‘Ted’ Showrunner Attached to ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’There’s some exciting news when it comes to bringing this book series to life. Ted and Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane, will bring the new adaptation to our screens. He is well-known for bringing crazy concepts to life in ways that are enjoyable to watch, and there’s no doubt that he can do the same with this series.
It is a wild concept as well. The Dungeon Crawler Carl series follows Carl and Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, Carl’s ex-girlfriend’s show cat, as the two work their way through a series of levels for TV. They just didn’t exactly choose to do this. After an alien invasion, the two find themselves stuck in a reality show a lot like The Hunger Games, and they need to work together if they want to survive.
Of course, there’s a computer game element to it, and it’s what makes this series so popular for dystopian readers and gamers alike. There’s an AI that makes choices, and the showrunners within this world don’t necessarily have full control over what’s going on!
Ace Books
‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Finally Gets a Streaming HomeWhen the books were initially optioned in 2025, there were questions about where the show could go. With MacFarlane involved, it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that the TV series will head to Peacock. After all, that’s where Ted streams.
What’s not clear right now is how the show will be released. Could this be a binge-watch like the recently canceled The Copenhagen Test, or could it be released weekly? The latter isn’t the most popular for Peacock anymore, as it moves into a Netflix-style binge-model. However, a series like this needs attention, and it could work well released weekly.
There have been no casting updates or other details yet, which makes it hard to tell when we could see the adaptation. It’s likely going to be 2028 at the latest. The good news is there’s an eighth book in the series, A Parade of Horribles, coming out on May 12, 2026, and there may be two more after that!
Anne Hathaway Talks Fashion and Being a Boy Mom Ahead of ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Premiere
The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere is Monday, April 20 (with an official theatrical release date of May 1, 2026), and everyone is buzzing about this sequel’s star. Actress Anne Hathawayrecently opened up in a new interview with People, talking about everything from fashion to parenting.
A lot has happened since The Devil Wears Prada debuted in 2006. The then-24-year-old Hathaway flawlessly captured the wide-eyed naivety of fashion-industry outsider-turned-assistant to the most powerful woman in town (Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly), Andy Sachs. And while she didn’t know cerulean from basic blue, both Sachs and Hathaway have come a long way in the past 20 years. While her fictional self has grown into a confident features editor for Runway magazine, IRL Hathaway won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2013 for her performance in Les Misérables. But that's not all. She also added a slew of film credits to her resume.
Of course, the addition of a few pretty major awards isn’t the only way the actress has changed over the last two decades. Hathaway marriedAdam Shulman in 2012, who she says (in her new interview with People), “Supports me completely.” The couple welcomed two sons, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman (born in 2016) and Jack Shulman (born in 2019), making Hathaway a “boy mom.”
As the actress gets ready for the public to watch her reprise the iconic Devil Wears Prada role, Hathaway reflected on fashion, beauty secrets, and her own sense of style. And now that she’s a parent, the Academy Award winner also opened up about being a boy mom.
Per the People interview, Hathway revealed, “I’m a tomboy! I love that being a boy mom has really informed my fashion.” So, how exactly has her style changed now that she is the mom of two? Hathaway goes on to say, “I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court.” And yes, we get it. As Anne also adds, “Dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably before the end of breakfast.”
In a video clip, posted to People’sInstagram page, Hathaway points out that the blue velvet CJR suit she’s wearing for the interview would, in her words, “absolutely fit the bill.” That is, minus the heels. But Hathaway seems to have that covered too, “Yeah, that’s why you have the bag. You have your mom shoes, and then you have your, you know, business shoes.” Now that’s some sage parenting (scratch that, fashion) advice!

The limited-time collaboration takes Krispy Kreme's iconic doughnut recipe and combines it with Milk Bar's creative passion to "shake up the dessert scene," drawing inspiration from the cookbook of the growing bakery chain's founder and James Beard Award-winning pastry chef, Christina Tosi, according to a press release shared on Monday.
"Krispy Kreme and Milk Bar share a passion for turning familiar flavors into unforgettable experiences," Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, shared in an April 20 statement, noting that working alongside the celebrated chef and founder to "reimagine her most-loved creations as doughnuts has resulted in a collection that’s as bold and craveable as it is unique."

Its treats can also be purchased online for nationwide shipping, and now, some of the "most-loved" Milk Bar originals can be found at Krispy Kreme—in the form of a doughnut, of course.
