Sharon Tate's Hollywood career was brief, but more than five decades after her death, her legacy continues to capture the public's attention.

Tate was born on Jan. 24, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, and began working in entertainment as a model and actress. By the mid-1960s, she was quickly making a name for herself in Hollywood, landing television roles before moving into feature films.

Her breakthrough year came in 1967, when Tate appeared in three movies: The Fearless Vampire Killers, Don't Make Waves and Valley of the Dolls. The latter became her best-known role, with Tate portraying Jennifer North, an aspiring actress and model.

The performance helped establish Tate as one of Hollywood's rising young stars. She received a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer—Female following the film's release, further highlighting the momentum her career had begun to build.

Tate's life and career were also closely connected to the Hollywood filmmaking world.

She married director Roman Polanski in 1968, and the couple worked together on The Fearless Vampire Killers, which was released the previous year.

At the time of her death in 1969, Tate was just 26 years old and expecting her first child. She was among five people murdered at her Los Angeles home on Aug. 9, 1969.

Tate's death became one of the most infamous tragedies in Hollywood history, but her family later worked to make sure her story was about more than the circumstances of her death.

Her mother, Doris Tate, became an advocate for victims' rights and spent years campaigning for changes to California's criminal justice system. The Tate family's activism helped contribute to the passage of California's Victims' Bill of Rights in 1982.

Today, Tate is still remembered for the career she was building before her life was tragically cut short. Her performances, particularly in Valley of the Dolls, remain part of Hollywood history, while her family's advocacy created another lasting part of her legacy.

From the Harry Potter franchise to OnlyFans...

Jessie Cave, best known for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, decided to join OnlyFans as a way to earn some money. What she didn't realize, perhaps, is that she'd earn more money from the online subscription service than she has across the entirety of her career—in just one year.

"I’ve earned more, easily, than my entire acting career within one year,” Cave, 39, told The Sunday Times.

"I thought I’d make five grand, be on it for a few months and it would buy me time to work out what we’re going to do," she told the outlet, adding, "but it’s now been over a year and a half and it’s genuinely saved our lives."

Cave joined OnlyFans in 2025, and while she only charges $6 for a subscription, she earns a lot of money through "paid-for messages." Per her interview, she's earned upwards of $20,000.

The actress explained that she made the decision to join OnlyFans after she reached "a point of complete desperation" when it came to auditioning for roles. Though she has well over a dozen credits to her name, Cave's career just didn't take off the way in the same way as some of her Potter co-stars. As a mother of four, the actress just decided to give it a go.

"I couldn’t go and, say, work in a supermarket because I can’t afford the childcare, and also I don’t want people shouting ‘Harry Potter’ spells at me as I work at Tesco," she told The Sunday Times. "I could retrain but I can’t afford to do a degree. I had a breakdown and I thought, that’s it with acting, I give up. But also we have no money."

Though Cave does have two projects in the works, according to her IMDb page, she's just having fun.

"For so long I’ve just been this quirky figure," she said. "After having four kids and feeling invisible for so long that was really appealing to me."

Cave is set to star in Curse in a Frame, co-starring Susan Wokoma, and The Potters, an animated project co-starring Frances Fisher and Kurt Fuller.

Every legendary band has a starting point.

For The Rolling Stones, it came with "Come On," a spirited cover of Chuck Berry's 1961 song that became the group's debut single. Released on June 7, 1963, the record featured Mick Jagger, who was still just 19 years old, arriving only weeks before his 20th birthday. More than six decades later, the song remains a fascinating snapshot of one of rock's greatest bands at the very beginning of its journey.

At the time, the Rolling Stones were still finding their identity.

"The first single was Chuck Berry’s 'Come On,'" Keith Richards said in a 2003 interview. "It was middle ground, but it was also very, very pop. We threw it in along with a couple of Bo Diddleysongs and I think it was chosen because it was so obviously more chart-orientated."

Manager Andrew Loog Oldham encouraged the young band to record a song that showcased its love of American rhythm and blues, and Berry's "Come On" fit the bill perfectly. Although the group would later become celebrated for its original songwriting, its earliest recordings paid tribute to the blues and rock 'n' roll artists who inspired them.

"At the time it was done just to get a record out," Richards explained. "We never wanted to hear it. The idea was Andrew's – to get a strong single so they'd let us make an album which back then was a privilege."

The single also marked an important milestone.

While "Come On" wasn't an original composition, it introduced audiences to the chemistry between Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts. Jagger's youthful vocal performance hinted at the charisma that would soon make him one of rock's most recognizable frontmen.

Listeners responded positively.

"Come On" reached No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart, giving the Rolling Stones their first chart success and laying the foundation for an extraordinary career. It also opened the door to a remarkable run of hits that would include classics such as "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Paint It, Black," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and "Gimme Shelter."

Although the band eventually stopped performing "Come On" live, its historical importance has never faded.

"We didn't want to do blues forever, we just wanted to turn people on to other people who were very good and not carry on doing it ourselves," Jagger told Rolling Stone in 1968. "So you could say that we did blues to turn people on, but why they should be turned on by us is unbelievably stupid. I mean what's the point in listening to us doing "I'm A King Bee" when you can listen to Slim Harpo doing it?"

Still, the recording captures the excitement of a young group still rooted in its musical influences while standing on the brink of worldwide fame. It remains a favorite among longtime fans eager to revisit the earliest chapter of the Rolling Stones' story.

Sixty-three years after its release, "Come On" continues to hold a special place in rock history. Featuring a 19 year-old Mick Jagger on lead vocals, the Rolling Stones' first single became far more than a cover—it marked the beginning of one of the most influential careers music has ever known.

Hollywood has a new it girl!

Zendaya has been named the highest-grossing actor of 2026, ABC News confirms. The 29-year-old earned the title after three hugely successful film releases: The Drama, The Odyssey, and Spider Man: Brand New Day. And she's not done yet. Dune: Part Three is set to be released on December 18, and is sure to only solidify Zendaya's name atop the highest-grossing actor list.

What makes Zendaya's rise even more impressive is just how much her career has evolved since her Disney Channel days. She went from playing a teenager on a hit children's network to taking on some of Hollywood's biggest and most demanding projects. Along the way, she's also become a major fashion name and one of the industry's most recognizable young stars. 

The actress' road to fame wasn't an easy one. She started off doing commercials for companies like Macy's and Old Navy before landing a gig as a backup dancer. From there, she auditioned for Shake It Up, landing a role on the popular Disney Channel show. Zendaya's career has exploded in recent years, with her roles in Euphoria and Spider Man leading the charge.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Zendaya has an estimated net worth of $40 million—which is pretty impressive for someone who hasn't even celebrated their 30th birthday yet!

It wasn't uncommon for aspiring musicians to cover a Beatles track or two, but singer Joe Cocker ended up covering "With A Little Help From My Friends," which launched his career in 1968 and became a pop culture staple for a few reasons.

In 1967, the Beatles had decided to take a break from touring, but were adamant about being in the studio to develop new music. They began working on the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, withJohn Lennon and Paul McCartney wanting to create a track specifically for Ringo Starr.

While everyone else in the band had the vocals, Lennon and McCartney purposely made "With A Little Help From My Friends" in a vocal range that Starr could sing as lead vocals.

"Poking a little fun at Ringo was actually a lot of fun. ‘What would you do if I sang out of tune?’ Actually, John and I wrote this song within a vocal range that would cause no problems for Ringo, who had a style of singing different to outs. We tailored it especially for him, and I think that’s one reason why it was such a great success for him on Sgt Pepper," he explained in The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present.

Just as "With A Little Help From My Friends" was a success for the Beatles, it was for Cocker in 1968. He released his debut album of the same name, with the song being its title track. Unlike the Beatles, Cocker's version was a radical rearrangement, with his gritty vocals and the bluesy sweep ending up launching his career.

The track may have landed at No. 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but it became a No. 1 single in the UK and garnered worldwide attention. According to Mel Magazine, McCartney commented “I remember him and Denny Cordell coming round to the studio in Saville Row and playing me what they’d recorded and it was just mind blowing, totally turned the song into a soul anthem and I was forever grateful for him for doing that."

Cocker's version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" would also be chosen as one of the many covers to become a pop culture classic. He gained recognition when he played it live at Woodstock 1969 and received the most favorable reaction from audiences of any other act. It would end up becoming an anthem for the iconic music festival.

The track would gain a resurgence years later when it was covered by John Belushion stage in the Windy City before taking it to Saturday Night Live, where he duetted with Cocker himself. Cocker found it "amusing" and never had any issue with Belushi's caricature portrayal.

"I thought vocally, he did quite a clever job with it. It put a print on me that kind of stuck to this day. [Belushi] was quite shy really whenever we did any gigs together. He was almost like a schoolboy. He’d come in the dressing room, just watch everything I was doing," said Cocker to the Broward Palm Beach New Times.

Years later, Cocker's version was selected to become the main theme song for The Wonder Years and once again cemented a new legacy.

Wedding bells rang for Tallulah Willis in the mountains of Idaho this weekend.

The 32-year-old, youngest daughter of Hollywood actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, married musician Justin Acee in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday, Aug. 8, as per Vogue.

For the ceremony, Tallulah wore a custom gown designed by Balenciaga creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, one of the first bridal looks he has created in his role at the fashion house, as per the outlet.

Tallulah is the youngest of Moore and Willis's three daughters together, alongside sisters Rumer and Scout. Willis also shares two younger daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, with his wife, Emma Heming Willis.

Tallulah and Acee, who performs music under the name NIGHTIES, announced their engagement in December 2024, sharing an Instagram photo of the couple holding hands along a rose-petal pathway. "Everyday," Tallulah wrote in her caption at the time.

The news brought an outpouring of joy from her family. Rumer, 37, commented that her heart was "so full," writing, "The most beautiful love to witness and watch grow. I love you both so much. Justin I'm so lucky I get to call you my brother... Obsessed with you both."

Moore, 63, shared her own Instagram post marking the proposal, writing, "A Christmas proposal. Congratulations to our @buuski and her @justinacee, we love you." The Substance star has been open about her joy for her daughter's new chapter.

Tallulah has spoken openly about how much comfort Acee has brought her, particularly as she navigates her father's health journey. Willis, star of the Die Hard franchise, was diagnosed with aphasia in March 2022, followed by a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis less than a year later.

Reflecting on their relationship in an August 2024 interview with People, Tallulah said, "Waking up laughing with my partner would be the best kind of day, which I will be honest happens a lot."

Tallulah has also spoken candidly about her relationship with her father since his diagnosis. Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, she reflected on how their connection has remained steady. "He is the same, which I think in this regard I've learned is the best thing you can ask for," she told Drew Barrymore. "I see love when I'm with him, and it's my dad and he loves me, which is really special," she added, of her legendary dad.

Willis's family shared his FTD diagnosis publicly in a joint statement, writing in part, "Bruce has always found joy in life, and has helped everyone he knows to do the same... Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible."

As Tallulah begins this new chapter with Acee by her side, that same spirit of love and support continues to carry the family forward.

Robert Carradine's family is suing the University of California in a wrongful-death and elder-abuse lawsuit. It was filed on Friday, Aug. 7, according to documents obtained by TheWrap.

His family claims that the actor went into UCLA’s psychiatric unit seeking treatment, hoping that the environment there would "help with his anxiety." However, the family believes that UCLA failed to follow safety procedures during his stay, specifically referring to the fact that Carradine's belt had been with him when he was admitted. And with that, UCLA’s policies identify belts and belt buckles as prohibited items in the psychiatric unit.

According to the documents, Carradine attempted suicide 19 hours after he arrived at the facility, with his family further alleging that UCLA failed to conduct the required 15-minute checks, saying the actor was not observed properly for extended periods of time. The lawsuit adds that he never regained consciousness after the incident, saying he suffered an anoxic brain injury and was in intensive care for five weeks before his death.

Carradine's family says that UCLA’s investigation did not reflect what happened, adding that hospital records conflicted with surveillance footage from the facility.

Carradine's death was announced in February, with his family sharing a statement.

“It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away," they wrote. "In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon on light to everyone around him. We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby’s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness. At this time we ask for the privacy to grieve this unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion.”

We’re only human, meaning that we can mess up, put our foot in our mouth and come off as less-than-nice, especially when stressed or frustrated. But if you’re prepared ahead of time with social tools and phrases to shut down arguments or politely find footing, even when you’re not aligned with someone, you’re less likely to upset others. And that’s where expert tips come in handy.

In a past article about phrases that make you “instantly likable,” psychologists told Parade some ways you could say things that make you more amicable, often in times where there’s disagreement. Handling tense situations with care and tact can really make or break whether you come off as “likable” or not. 

But even if you don’t mean to be likable, and you just want a way to communicate in good faith during times of discontent, there are good statements to use to do just that. And one phrase that offers “a healthy way to agree to disagree” involves honesty and just five words to start. 

Read on to find out what the phrase is, other alternatives to saying you “agree to disagree” in professional, familial and other scenarios, and when this phrase can backfire.

A way to disagree in a respectful way that doesn’t make people dislike you is the phrase, “I like your opinion. However…” It might even impress others so that they see you as admirable in their minds. 

“This phrase provides a healthy way to agree to disagree,” Dr. Cashuna “Shun” Huddleston, PhD, a licensed psychologist and founder of New Way Psychological Services, shared with Parade at the time. “This statement shows that you can value and respect the other person’s opinion despite differences that exist, which allows space for productive conversation.”

We’ve all been there, right? Where we really dislike what someone’s saying, or you just know that you two aren’t going to come to any common ground. So instead of storming off or shutting down the conversation completely, you might want to “agree to disagree.” However, saying that exact thing can turn people off because it might come off as condescending and the person you’re saying that to could get defensive because they feel dismissed. 

If you validate them first—by saying, “I like your opinion”—then you’re reassuring them and complimenting them before you follow it up with a contradictory “However,” and then whatever you need to tack on to that. They might be more likely to hear your message if you validate them first as opposed to only hearing you disagree. 

When you just say, “Let’s agree to disagree,” you might see it as passive-aggressive and a conversational dead-end. And it essentially is a way to kill communication. It’s very finite and definitive. So that’s why that can fail. 

But even “I like your opinion. However…” can fall in the same category if you say it in the wrong moment, or if you don’t mean it.

“Also, avoid this statement during emotional conversations as it can be perceived as dismissive and could escalate tension,” Dr. Huddleston added.

When you go to use “I like your opinion. However…” in real life, you have to remember two things first: mind your tone and be pleasant. Even if you’re aiming for that polite “agree to disagree” route in a conversation, you want to still go at it from a friendly place, smiling and not adding to any tension that might already be there. 

“Managing your tone is seen as more attractive and impressive,” Dr. Huddleston told Parade at the time. “If you’re looking for longevity in relationships or to boost your social status, being able to lower or moderate your pitch helps facilitate those connections.”

She also said that smiling is a must if you don’t want to escalate any arguments or bad blood.

“This is a staple to being likable,” she stated. “Smiling conveys happiness, approachability and a positive sense of self. Smiling even affects your tone of voice and disposition.”

“I like your opinion. However…” is almost like a compliment sandwich, something that is often encouraged in the professional world. You’re validating them with a true statement that you like and value their opinions. “However,” you also have a differing thought or stance, and you want to share that as well. 

So in the workplace, when there are disagreements between team members, this phrase is good to bridge the gap between two or more people who are arguing. It’s also a good phrase to respectfully disagree, share your thoughts and move on. 

Sometimes, in relationships, it’s not good to “be right”; you might want to just “be happy” or keep the peace. While it’s not a good idea to roll over and “die,” so to speak, sometimes neither one of you—you nor your partner—can both be correct, so you have to just agree to disagree and move on. 

But, “Let’s agree to disagree” sounds super condescending in the moment, as stated above, especially when said to your significant other. So, “I like your opinion. However…” is such a diplomatic way to acknowledge your partner’s belief while sharing your own, different stance, in a bid to hopefully squash whatever disagreement you’re having.

As stated before, if you don’t mean this part of the phrase—if it’s a lie for you to say this because you actually don’t like that person’s opinion—it can backfire. 

If their opinion is bigoted or just not something you vibe with, it’s bad to lie and tell that person you’re on their side in that sense. But even if it’s nothing controversial, it’s never good to go forward with a straight-up lie. That won’t solve anything and will find a way to come back and bite you in the butt. This phrase is meant to create common ground while also making space for both of your sides; lying just won’t accomplish this as well (or at all). 

This phrase can also backfire because of the “but/however” trap. I don’t know about you, but growing up, if I apologized to my siblings, then followed it up with, “But…” my mom would immediately stop me and tell me that the “but” just erased everything I said before it. 

• “I’m sorry I hit you, but you were in the way.”
• “I’m sorry I yelled at you, but I needed to say something.”
• “I’m sorry I didn’t let you play with me, but I didn’t want to share with you.”

While the statement after the “but” might be honest, it does make your apology feel like an afterthought or less genuine. 

With the “but/however” trap, you create what could be taken as a less sincere statement before those words. So if you say, “I like your opinion, however…” to the wrong person, at the wrong time, in the wrong tone, or something else, you might create a situation where the other person doesn’t hear the rest of what you’re saying. They might not receive any of the statement well, because they feel like the “however” was dismissive. 

So as with anything said during an argument or disagreement, be careful of your tone and know your audience. While this phrase is a good way to say you agree to disagree, it might not work in all scenarios.

Following a tour stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, R&B superstar Usher found himself at the center of yet another controversy. This time, fans debated whether or not Usher used a body double during the performance.

"Usher, why'd you have to play us all like that last night? That is NOT Usher," read the caption of a TikTok post uploaded by a concert goer.

Dozens of hilarious comments poured in on the post, with many taking a closer look and agreeing that something seemed off.

"That's Unsure," one TikTok user wrote.

"I'm confused. I see Usher, but then I don't," someone else said.

"Lmaoo that’s gusher," another person added.

"That's Un-sher," a fourth comment read.

Usher got wind of the internet chatter and has denied the use of a clone.

"Usure? Wesure," read a message on the official Raymond and Brown Tour Instagram page.

"Ya'll are funny .... clone? They can’t clone this??" Usher wrote on social media, later adding, "How y’all come up with this. A.I. ain't that advanced."

The "Love in This Club" singer seemed to get a kick out of the rumors, however, as he added crying with laughter faces to his responses. He also took to his Instagram Stories to add a few videos of himself performing shirtless without a hat or glasses, which left little doubt that he wasn't using a body double or a clone during his show.

Usher is currently on tour with Chris Brown for The Raymond and Brown Tour. The guys have tour stops through the end of the year, with their last date being in Tampa, Florida, in December.

Sixty years after The Monkees scored their first No. 1 hit, the band's last surviving member is proving he still has plenty of new music left to share.

Micky Dolenz released his new single, "Waiting For Day," on Friday, Aug. 7, giving fans the first taste of his upcoming EP TIMELESS, which arrives Sept. 4.

Dolenz announced the song on Instagram, calling it "a wonderful song" written by The Bangles guitarist Vicki Peterson. He also revealed that he recorded it as a duet with his sister, Coco Dolenz.

"To my ears, it has a little bit of everything I love: melody, color, harmony, and a nice swirl of bubblegum psychedelic pop," Dolenz wrote. "It feels bright and dreamy in all the right places, and just a little mystery floating around the edges."

He encouraged fans to give the song a listen and let him know what they thought.

Judging by the early response, listeners were more than happy to do exactly that.

One longtime listener was especially impressed that Dolenz's voice has barely changed over the decades, writing, "I can't get over u sound the same and amazing and better than ever keep being amazing we all love you."

Alongside the new single, Dolenz has begun taking pre-orders for TIMELESS, which will be released on Sept. 4.

The six-song EP features material written by an impressive lineup of songwriters, including Paul Westerberg, Andy Partridge, Vicki Peterson, Sam Hollander, Adam Schlesinger, Pete Donnelly, Shelby Lynne and Jonny Polonsky.

Dolenz also joked that fans can order signed editions "for those who would like proof that I was actually there."

Dolenz is the last surviving member of The Monkees, the chart-topping group created for the NBC television series that became one of the biggest pop culture sensations of the 1960s.

The band scored its first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with "Last Train to Clarksville" in 1966 before adding classics including "I'm a Believer," "Daydream Believer" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday."

Following the deaths of Davy Jones in 2012, Peter Tork in 2019 and Michael Nesmith in 2021, Dolenz has continued performing and recording, keeping The Monkees' musical legacy alive while also releasing new solo projects.

With "Waiting For Day" now available and TIMELESS arriving next month, the 81-year-old singer is showing that he's still looking ahead, even six decades after The Monkees first reached the top of the charts.

Jenna Bush Hager will not be left out!

The Today anchor hosted alongside Willie Geist on Friday, Aug. 7, and learned something interesting along the way. During their morning chat, Geist shared that his wife, Christina, has been playing Mahjong every week with some friends.

"What? Wait … excuse me?" Bush Hager responded, taken aback. Quickly realizing that Bush Hager was feeling left out, Geist explained that the get together is just a "local" event.

"Uh, I live within a 20-minute radius!" Bush Hager, who is a big fan of the popular tile-based game, said. She then called out Christina, whom she calls "teeny," directly.

"Teeny? Teeny, I’d like to just say, who introduced you to mahjong? It was me! Who taught you the Charleston and such? Call me!" she said. While the whole conversation was had in good fun, Bush Hager continued teasing Geist.

"I’m gonna text Savannah right after this," she told him, referring to Today anchor and one of her best friends, Savannah Guthrie, who is also a big Mahjong fan.

Several celebs have shared their love of the game, which is played in groups of four and is often compared to the card game, Rummy. Julia Roberts, Meghan Markle, and Sarah Jessica Parker have all spoken out about their Mahjong nights.

"I think, post-COVID, there has been such a big explosion because it’s literally a convening," producer Suzanne Todd told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year. "It feels like once you start, that it’s required. It’s that sharing of actual air space together. Also, it's this thing now of all the hot girls having grandma hobbies."

Hopefully "Teeny" has enough tables to add Bush Hager and Guthrie to her weekly Mahjong get-togethers!

Most vices aren’t exactly the best for you, health-wise. While you may already know about the health benefits of coffee, what many people don’t know is that how you brew your coffee matters—especially when it comes to heart health. As a cardiologist explains here, coffee brewing methods impact cholesterol in a small, but important way.

Considering that the habits we do regularly most impact health, if you drink coffee every day, it’s important to know how that morning ritual affects your heart. “As a cardiologist, I often get asked whether coffee helps or hurts heart health,” says Dr. Majid Basit, MD, an interventional cardiologist with Memorial Hermann Medical Group.

As long as you keep your daily coffee intake under 4 cups, Dr. Basit explains it can benefit your heart. “Moderate coffee consumption can be part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. There is now evidence showing the cardiovascular benefits of coffee. Research shows that drinking two to four cups of coffee per day is linked to a lower risk of serious cardiovascular issues, including coronary artery disease, stroke and heart failure,” he says.

Dr. Basit adds that studies have found an association between regular coffee consumption and a 15% lower risk of heart disease, sharing, “Interestingly, decaffeinated coffee shows similar benefits."

Why is coffee so beneficial for heart health? Dr. Basit says that the compounds in coffee (specifically polyphenols and antioxidants) play a big role. He explains that they help protect blood vessels by decreasing levels of inflammatory markers and reducing oxidative stress, adding, “They can improve vascular function, allowing blood vessels to react better to exercise and fluctuations in blood pressure."

In addition to lowering blood pressure, Dr. Basit notes that the polyphenols and antioxidants in coffee indirectly support blood sugar control.

If you want to reap the heart-healthy benefits of coffee, how you brew it matters. When brewing coffee, Dr. Basit urges coffee drinkers to use one important tool: a paper filter. He explains that unfiltered coffee contains natural oils with the compounds cafestol and kahweol, sharing that cafestol and kahweol can raise LDL cholesterol.

“Paper filters remove more than 90% of these compounds, essentially eliminating their negative effect on LDL cholesterol,” Dr. Basit tells Parade. He adds that it’s important to know that machine-filtered coffee does not remove these compounds as well as the paper-filtering method. Because of this, switching from machine filtering to paper filtering has been shown to reduce cardiovascular disease risk. 

This also means that brewing methods that don’t use a paper filter—such as French press and Turkish coffee—are not as beneficial for cholesterol as coffee brewed with a paper filter.

“If you have a history of high cholesterol or cardiovascular disease, consider switching to paper-filtered coffee or instant coffee to help meaningfully lower your LDL and cardiovascular risk,” Dr. Basit says.

In addition to how you brew your coffee, what you add to it can also impact your heart health. Dr. Basit explains that adding sugar, sweeteners or heavy cream to your coffee isn’t as healthy as having it black.

If you want to add some flavor to your black coffee, consider adding spices such as cardamom, allspice or cinnamon. Cinnamon in particular is linked to lowering cholesterol, so it’s a great way to make your coffee even healthier.

Like most things in life, moderation is key when it comes to drinking coffee. “Excessive coffee intake—more than six cups a day—can lead to harmful effects such as increased anxiety, sleep disruption and even irregular heart rhythms,” Dr. Basit says.

How you brew your coffee is one small way to support your cholesterol every day. Don’t underestimate the power of small, healthy habits. They matter!

Violet Hensley, who is known as the Whittlin’ Fiddler, was a fiddle player and builder who made her Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 99. She also appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies, Captain Kangaroo, and Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee. She died on August 7 at the age of 109.

The Leslie, Arkansas, Facebook page posted a tribute to honor such a beloved member of their community. “Today, it is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ms. Violet Hensley, a true Arkansas legend and an honorary member of the Leslie community,” it stated. “Although Ms. Violet called Yellville home, she held a special place in the hearts of the people of Leslie. As the world-renowned Whittlin’ Fiddler, she embodied the traditions, craftsmanship, and spirit that have made our community the Whittling Capital of America."

The post continued, “Although Ms. Violet called Yellville home, she held a special place in the hearts of the people of Leslie. In 2025, it was our great privilege to honor Ms. Violet by proclaiming Violet Hensley Day and presenting her with the Key to the City of Leslie in recognition of her lifetime of preserving the art of whittling and traditional Ozark music. Her kindness, humility, and passion inspired countless people, and she graciously became part of our Leslie family.”

A rep for Silver Dollar City also shared a statement with PEOPLE, saying, “She wasn’t simply one of America’s most respected fiddle makers and musicians, she was the heart of an Ozarks tradition that connected generations to this special place. To know Violet was to experience genuine kindness, quiet humility and an unwavering love for others and her deep, deep love for her family.”

Hensley, who had nine children, was celebrated for her talents, getting inducted into the National Fiddler’s Hall of Fame. In 2014, she released a book called Whittlin’ and Fiddlin’ My Own Way: The Violet Hensley Story. The book speaks about her journey from learning to fiddle in 1928 to becoming a music legend in her state.

Christopher Lambert, best known for his roles in Mortal Kombat and Highlander, collapsed while signing autographs at Steel City Comic Con in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to TMZ.

The actor, who was taken from the venue to a nearby hospital by ambulance, is said to be doing better following the health scare. Lambert's rep told TMZ that he didn't have much to eat, which caused his blood sugar to drop.

Before the news broke, Steel City Con shared an update on its official Facebook page.

"Christopher Lambert had to leave the event due to a personal issue. Return time TBD. Photo op canceled," the post read.

Many fans took to the comments section to share uplifting messages and prayers for Lambert, 69.

"Was wondering what happened but wanted to be respectful and stay out of the way. Really hope everything is ok," one person wrote.

"I was getting an autograph from him when it happened. I hope he's going to be okay," someone else said.

"I really hope he’s going to be ok. I’m glad the con acted so fast. That had to have been scary," a third comment read.

A short while later, Steel City Con shared an update, announcing that Lambert would be in attendance at today's event.

"Christopher Lambert will be attending Sunday. He will be there at 11:30 AM. Lisa & Louise Burns will do 12 PM Panel. Also, Karen Gillan will be doing Solos and Duos on Sunday (with Arthur) as well," the Facebook post read.

Lambert is also scheduled to appear at FAN EXPO in Chicago next week.

Arion Salazar was the bass guitarist for Third Eye Blind from 1993 until 2006. According to Riff Magazine, he wrote multiple songs from the first three albums, Third Eye Blind, Blue, and Out of the Vein. Today, he turns 56.

When asked about his favorite song from his iconic band, he told Pass the Aux, “My favorite song has pretty much always been ‘Losing a Whole Year.’ It was one of the last written before recording. The day we spent tracking it is a great memory. We went crazy experimenting with soundscapes and triple-tracked the bass using lots of vintage gear Eric Valentine had on hand. Playing that one is great live as well. For me, that tune sort of summed up what set the band apart from your average ’90s pop band. And, as an opener on the record, it really gets things off to a powerful start.”

He also shared one of his favorite memories from playing with the band, which occurred at a radio show in the early 2000s. “We’re in the middle of playing the bass and drum breakdown of the song ‘Jumper.’ I turn around and see Stevie Wonder being walked on stage!" he explained. "Then someone hands him a harmonica! Suddenly, he’s jamming with us for a couple minutes, stops, gets an ovation, and is led offstage. As he’s leaving, I run up to thank him, and he gives me a hug. Maybe it sounds cheesy, but it was surreal, amazing, and thankfully someone got photos for me!”

Lately, he has also been reflecting on his musical journey. “During my 10-plus years in the band, there were eventual pressures, distractions, etcetera, that I let pull me away from the live show after a while," he said. "The first few years were pretty pure. Because I’m older and hopefully wiser, I can see what the songs meant to people — and even to me — a bit clearer. I can concentrate on every note, every feel, and being totally in the moment. And appreciate my good fortune, blessings, and the folks in front of me while in that moment.”

Third Eye Blind has sold millions of records worldwide. Some of their biggest hits are “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “Never Let You Go.” Although Salazar is no longer part of the band, they are still performing to this day.

Black Sabbath's “Warning,” a 10-minute-and-28-second rock song from the band's 1970 debut album, remains one of the most striking long tracks from the early days of heavy metal.

The song was originally recorded as a cover of the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation's “Warning.” Instead of keeping the original song's shorter blues-rock format, Black Sabbath turned it into a long, free-form performance that moved through blues, metal, progressive rock and jazz.

Released on the band's self-titled debut album, Black Sabbath, “Warning” became the album's longest standard track. More than five decades later, the recording stands out for the raw sound of Ozzy Osbourne's vocals, Tony Iommi's guitar work, Geezer Butler's bass and Bill Ward's drums.

In 2023, Ultimate Classic Rock placed “Warning” at No. 40 on its list of Rock's 40 Best Long Songs. The publication noted that Black Sabbath transformed the three-minute blues-rock song into a 10-and-a-half-minute epic.

The track is also an important snapshot of Black Sabbath before the band fully developed the heavy, dark sound that would help define metal in the years that followed.

“Warning” closes the standard European edition of Black Sabbath, which was released in the United Kingdom on Feb. 13, 1970.

The album was recorded under tight conditions. The band had only a small studio budget and limited time at Regent Sounds in London. Production notes say two 12-hour sessions were booked, with much of the second day used for mixing and editing.

Because of the limited studio time, Black Sabbath approached the recording much like a live performance. The musicians played with very few overdubs.

That approach can be heard clearly in “Warning.”

The instrumental section gives Iommi, Butler and Ward plenty of space to move beyond a simple song structure. Their extended playing creates a loose blues jam that Ultimate Classic Rock compared with the sound of Cream.

Osbourne's vocals also have a different character from the high-pitched style often associated with his later recordings. On the debut album, his voice carries a deep and powerful low end.

The recording session was physically demanding. According to the production notes, Osbourne overdubbed his vocals after the instrumental tracks had been recorded and was hoarse by the end of the nearly 11-minute performance.

Iommi also thought he had made a mistake during his guitar solo and asked to record it again. However, the first take was the one that remained on the album.

The guitar used on the recording also has an important place in Iommi's history. One of the pickups on his Fender Stratocaster stopped working, forcing him to use a customized Gibson SG as a backup. That guitar later became his signature instrument.

The recording of Black Sabbath was done at a time when the group was still largely unknown. Producer Roger Bain and engineer Roger Allom helped capture the band's sound during the short sessions.

Allom later recalled that the group was “outspoken and a bit wild,” but also “well prepared, and very tight.”

The band's volume created problems inside the studio. Butler's bass was so loud that people in a studio upstairs complained, leading him to use direct injection into the mixing desk.

Bain and Allom were also responsible for some of the album's final production touches. They added rain and a church bell without telling the band first. The group approved the additions.

The result was a debut album that sounded different from much of the rock music of its time.

At first, Black Sabbath received negative reviews from many critics. Yet the album sold well and reached No. 8 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 23 on the US Billboard 200. It later gained a much stronger reputation and is now widely regarded as a landmark in the development of heavy metal.

“Warning” helped show another side of the band.

While songs such as the title track established the dark atmosphere that became closely linked with Black Sabbath, “Warning” looked back toward the band's blues-rock roots. Its long instrumental passage allowed the four musicians to stretch beyond a traditional rock arrangement.

“Warning” also represents a turning point for Black Sabbath. It was the final song on their debut album and closed the first chapter of a band that would soon become one of heavy metal's most important names.

The original lineup, Osbourne on vocals, Iommi on guitar, Butler on bass and Ward on drums, created the recording during a short and intense studio period. Their limited time forced them to rely on the power of their live performance rather than elaborate studio production.

That raw approach became an important part of the band's early identity.

Black Sabbath would go on to release Paranoid later in 1970 and Master of Reality in 1971, two albums that further established their role in the development of heavy metal.

For listeners exploring Black Sabbath's beginnings, “Warning” offers a long look at the four musicians finding their sound in real time.

2027 will mark the 30th anniversary of the made-for-TV film Cinderella, starring Whitney Houston and Brandy. The film broke records and was praised for its diverse casting, with Brandy and Houston starring as the first Black Disney princess and fairy godmother pairing. Three decades later, the music is still a standout. Unfortunately, the completed soundtrack has never been released and cannot be found on any streaming service, aside from YouTube clips from the film.

Insiders tell Vanity Fairthat the soundtrack, which took an unprecedented 48 hours to create, was one of Houston’s greatest musical accomplishments. Its shelving, however, was the greatest heartbreak of her career.

It didn’t make sense to her that there was no album; she just couldn’t understand,” Craig Zadan says. “The fact that the album was never released - it’s one of the biggest mistakes, which needs to be rectified,” says Neil Meron. Zadan and Meron were producers on the film.

Debra Martin Chase, also a producer on the film with Houston, echoes similar sentiments. “Oh my God, it’s so ridiculous that this album has never happened,” she said. “For Disney purposes, let’s be crass: it’s money you’re leaving on the table.”

Pat Houston, the late singer’s sister-in-law, who also managed her and now manages her estate, said, “The absence of a soundtrack has devastated many of her fans.” The soundtrack featured remakes of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella classics, as well as original selections, such as “There Is Music in You,” a song Houston performed solo at the end of the film.

The reason the soundtrack has never been released is due to complex label issues. Reportedly, Brandy’s label, Atlantic Records, felt the music from the soundtrack did not fit her R&B image and refused to approve the release. Pat says she’s still committed to seeing the project get its just due, no matter how long it may take. 

Despite it never being released, there were a few live performances. Brandy performed a rendition of “The Sweetest Sounds” on the Emmys, and Houston performed “There Is Music in You” on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. 

“The Lonely Bull” was a song released by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass in 1962. The song peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and on Cash Box, but it went all the way to No. 1 in Australia. The song was originally recorded in Alpert’s garage, but the final sessions were recorded at Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.

When speaking about the song on his website, Alpert said, “When ‘The Lonely Bull’ came out, three days after its release, it was known internationally. We were getting calls. That was our first release on A&M Records. And we were getting calls from distributors all over the world wanting to distribute the record. And when the record finally hit the top 10, I got a letter from a lady in Germany thanking me for taking her on a vicarious trip to Tijuana.”

When asked about his process by Gary James, he said, “I'll tell you the truth, I never tried to make a hit record. One record I did, ‘The Lonely Bull,’ I was concentrating on what was on the radio and what could be played. But after that, it was all up for grabs for me 'cause I realized our distributors... ‘The Lonely Bull’ started A&M Records in 1962, and our distributors from around the country said, ‘Why don't you guys just take the money and run?’ That intrigued Jerry (Moss, the M in A&M Records) and I. So, I just kept recording.”

He continued, “I didn't want to do ‘The Lonely Bull’ sideways and try to capitalize on what had been. I just tried to see how far I could take my sound. And that's what happened. I was just making music that made me feel good, and I thought there might be some other people who thought the same way, and that's always the way I've approached it. I've never been desperate to try and make a hit record.”

Alpert has recorded 28 albums that have made it onto the Billboard 200 chart. Five of those albums reached the number one position. Alpert has also won many awards, including two Tony Awards and nine Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, and President Barack Obama awarded him the National Medal of Arts in 2012.
