1958 Film That Inspired a Bruce Springsteen Cover 20 Years Later Ranked Among Best Rock Movies

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 1:11pm

As this year’s graduating classes walk the stage and turn their tassels, there’s no better time to revisit the glory days of high school. And for classic rock fans, few movies capture the teenage experience quite like High School Confidential!

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

A campy 1958 cult classic devoted to rock ’n’ roll energy, juvenile delinquency, and an unforgettable performance from Jerry Lee Lewis, the film was recently named the best rock movie of 1958 by Ultimate Classic Rock. Here’s why.

Released June 13, 1958, the film stars Russ Tamblyn, Jan Sterling, John Drew Barrymore, and Mamie Van Doren, with Lewis appearing as himself. It follows the transfer student Tony Baker as he sniffs out the drug scene at Santa Bella High, where rich teens are hooked on marijuana cigarettes (hey, it’s the ’50s). But what kicks off as a cautionary tale ends up being a showcase for Lewis’s explosive rock ‘n’ roll performance.

“Once again, the ties between rock 'n' roll and juvenile delinquency were depicted on film,” UCR writes, noting that the opening scene of the film features Lewis performing the title track from the bed of a moving truck with a flock of teenagers following close behind.

Capturing the raw energy and rebellious spirit of the early rock ‘n’ roll scene at the height of the genre’s cultural panic, High School Confidential! became one of the earliest films to fully embrace rock music as its identity. And that opening scene is widely considered one of the most iconic intros in early rock cinema.

Produced by Albert Zugsmith and directed by Jack Arnold, the movie was a hit at the box office, bringing in $2 million against a $6,000 budget. Its success was boosted by Lewis’ track, which became a Top 40 Billboard hit.

Though critical reviews were mixed, the film’s camp and sensationalism helped build a devoted cult following — including one very famous fan: Bruce Springsteen, who liked the title track so much he recorded his own version 20 years later, performing it live for the first time with E Street Band during the Darkness tour of summer 1978.

High School Confidential! is streaming on YouTube.

1968 Classic Film With Iconic Songs Ranked Among ‘Greatest Rock and Roll Movies’ of All Time

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 1:06pm

Among the countless music documentaries produced over the decades, only a select few stand as true cinematic milestones. That is the legacy of this 1968 masterpiece, which overcame network rejection and a lackluster box office performance to become a defining work in the genre.

In 2019, Consequence ranked the 50 greatest rock and roll movies, compiling a list of the best films that incorporate the beloved genre through both soundtrack and plot. Ranked among classics such as Alan Arkush’s 1979 film Rock ‘n’ Roll High School at No. 25 and Alan Parker's 1991 film The Commitments at No. 23, D.A. Pennebaker’s 1968 documentary Monterey Pop secured the No. 24 spot.

Released in the U.S. on December 26, 1968, Monterey Pop was initially a box office failure. Upon its limited theatrical rollout, the film brought in only about $1,500. Despite famously being rejected by ABC for a a planned television broadcast due to its radical content, the film persevered, building a cult following from glowing word-of-mouth reviews.

Monterey Pop provided groundbreaking, in-depth coverage of the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival. The film perfectly captured the spirit of the late '60s counterculture while offering stunning, first hand looks at the festival's historic sets. By utilizing immersive, cinéma vérité-style camera work with no voiceover narration, Pennebaker placed audiences in the front row of legendary performances by artists like The Who and Jimi Hendrix. The intentional cinematography allowed viewers to experience raw crowd reactions and lively stage presence from the comfort of their theater.

Some of the greatest moments in the film featured iconic hits that set the tone for the documentary. Scott McKenzie's "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" served as the opening track, immediately immersing audiences in the festival's hippie roots. The Mamas & the Papas also had a major showcase with "California Dreamin'," spotlighting the West Coast folk-rock explosion that defined the era.

To this day, Monterey Pop remains one of the most critically recognized musical documentary films in cinema history. On Rotten Tomatoes, the picture holds an 89% audience score and 96% critic score, affirming its status as a legendary testament to the power of rock and roll.

Aldi's Colorful 4-Pack of Lidded Tumblers Are Perfect For Stylish Summer Sipping

Not to get all, "Well back in my day...," on you with tales from the '80s, but, seriously, hasn't 😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔 come such a long way? Forget the oversized 40-ounce tumblers for a minute (though they are amazing), and just focus on the simple lidded can-style glasses that have kind of taken over our kitchen cabinets.

The trend didn't just randomly appear out of nowhere, it really started with the rise of iced coffee culture and our collective obsession with making everyday drinks feel a little more aesthetic. The actual can-shaped glass design was inspired by classic beer can glasses, but things really shifted when small shops on Etsy and social media creators started giving them a glow-up with bamboo lids, reusable glass straws and cute custom designs. It gave your morning cold brew a whole new vibe.

Crofton 4 Pack Ombre Can Glasses, $6.99 at Aldi Aldi's Crofton 4 Pack Ombre Can Glasses

Aldi

Never ones to shy away from a trend, Aldi is selling the prettiest four-pack of ombre can glasses with matching bamboo lids and straws for $6.99. That's roughly $1.75 per glass which makes for a pretty sweet deal. The glasses come in blue, pink, yellow and orange—just a really lovely assortment of colors (not to mention making it easier not to mix up your glass with someone else's).

As cute as these can glasses are, they're really meant for cold drinks only. Most are made from standard glass that can be sensitive to sudden temperature changes, so pouring in hot coffee or tea could cause cracking or even shattering. The bamboo lids also don’t love heat or excess moisture, which can lead to warping over time. Ultimately, they're perfect for iced lattes, cold brew or matcha, but for anything steaming, it's definitely smarter (and safer) to reach for a mug.

Head to Aldi right now for all kinds of seasonal finds, particularly fun stuff for your patio or outdoor space. There are the sweetest little fairy garden solar lights that add whimsy anywhere, and don't even get me started on the portable hammock chair for easy summer relaxing. It jut feels like Aldi is looking out for everything ahead of the warm weather season to make sure you have just what you need to enjoy yourself.

Bill Maher Says Trump Fell for China’s ‘Red Carpet’ Treatment in Brutal Monologue

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 1:03pm

Bill Maher is once again taking aim atDonald Trump, and this time it’s over the president’s recent visit to China.

During the Friday, May 15, episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the comedian delivered a lengthy monologue mocking Trump’s trip to Beijing and joking that Chinese President Xi Jinping appeared to win the president over with spectacle and ceremony, per multiple outlets.

“I can just tell they’re better now. I ordered take out today [and] the menu said go ahead, make some substitutions,” Maher joked while discussing U.S.-China relations. He suggested the summit largely avoided difficult political issues, instead becoming what he portrayed as a carefully staged display designed to flatter Trump.

“Our two countries have a lot of issues between them,” Maher said. “But it seemed like in this summit they were mostly avoided. No demands except: you have to try these dumplings.”

He also poked fun at Trump’s praise of Xi throughout the visit, joking, “Trump says with Xi there’s no games with him. It’s getting a little weird, at one point Xi told his translator: tell Trump don’t catch feelings.”

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Much of Maher’s criticism centered around the pageantry of the trip, arguing that China understood exactly how to appeal to Trump’s personality. “China knows what Trump likes. What does he like? He likes the pomp, and the parades, and he likes the red carpet,” Maher said.

Trump also addressed comments he made earlier that day about not considering Americans’ financial situations while negotiating with Iran. Speaking to Fox News, Trump doubled down on earlier remarks in which he said his primary concern was preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, rather than the potential economic impact the conflict could have domestically.

Maher has increasingly used his HBO platform to criticize what he sees as political spectacle and presidential overreach. Earlier this year, he also sparked headlines after calling the State of the Union address a “stupid, boring, performative after-dinner speech from hell,” arguing the tradition makes presidents appear “like a king.”

Brooks Koepka Opened Strong at PGA Championship Following Personal Struggles

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 12:50pm

Brooks Koepka opened strong at the PGA Championship in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The pro golfer returned to the PGA Tour this season after officially leaving LIV golf in December 2025.

As Koepka competes for his sixth major win, the 36-year-old opened up about the challenging year he's had, sharing a rare family update. Koepka said that things going on in his personal life affected his golf game.

“We had a lot of family issues go on last year. It was noted, and that took a toll on me. It definitely took a toll on Jena," he said after Thursday's opening round, according to the New York Post. "That was kind of tough to deal with. Yeah, I mean, at home it’s in a much better place. It’s easier to come out to work when everything at home lines up. Everything’s a lot better. Last year was just difficult personally with what was going on off the golf course, nothing to do on it. It was just off."

"So, yeah, just being in a better place. It’s exciting," he continued, adding, "It’s a little bit of a fresh start as well. I think that’s a big piece of it. Yeah, when all that kind of lines up, it makes it enjoyable to be out here."

In October 2025, Sims, 37, shared the devastating news that she'd suffered a miscarriage.

"At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating. This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Crew a sibling one day," she wrote.

Koepka and Sims, who tied the knot in 2022, have one son, Crew, 2.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Has Strong Opinions on Which '90s Trends Should Stay in the Past

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 12:41pm

Sarah Michelle Gellar's biggest hits came out in the '90s. She was that girl inBuffy the Vampire Slayer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, and Cruel Intentions. But even though she was one of the era's biggest stars, Gellar recently admitted that she is not a fan of the "Mom, what were you like in the ’90s?" trend that took over TikTok and Instagram in recent months.

While chatting with Glamour about her Olay Regenerist endorsement, Gellar got on the topic of '90s trends, sharing that there are some she really didn't enjoy while admitting to one that she never let go of. All the while, the latest addition to the Ready or Not 2 cast defended the era, saying, "By the way, the ’90s were cool AF."

View this post on Instagram

Indeed, the '90s were quite a time to be alive, but the decade had its disappointments too. For example, Gellar pointed out the thin eyebrow trend that had ladies plucking or waxing their eyebrows down to nearly nothing. The other downside is that, for many, those lush brows never fully grew back.

"I don’t want overtweezed eyebrows back," Gellar confessed. "We all look better with an eyebrow."

Another trend she is not on board with, despite it unfortunately making a rebound recently, is choker necklaces. She quipped, "And I don’t get the choker thing. It just cuts your neck off. It looks like you’re a weird bobblehead. I am not a choker girl. Those are my two."

When it comes to '90s style trends that Gellar never gave up, she shared, " Thank God for Love Story bringing back slip dresses. I never stopped wearing them."

To that, we'd have to ask, did slip dresses ever go out of style? There's no question that they were huge in the '90s, but they never really left. Now, the simple, body-skimming style is rebounding in popularity, proving to be a classic minimalist piece that can be styled several different ways.

'80s Star and Cult-Classic Leading Man Cancels Tour: ‘I Don't Think It's Fair’

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 12:38pm

Kiefer Sutherland is an '80s film icon, known for his roles in coming-of-age films like Stand by Me and cult classics like The Lost Boys. He's still making movies, too, along with music, having recently released his fourth album, Grey.

To promote the new music, Sutherland was scheduled for a US leg of his Love Will Bring You Home tour in June and July 2026, kicking off in Patchogue, New York, and ending with a show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Unfortunately, those shows have now been canceled after Sutherland was unable to drum up enough ticket sales to fill his venues. On Friday, May 15, the actor, who plays a blend of Americana, country, and classic rock, shared the news with fans with an Instagram post on his official account, with a caption that read, "See kiefersutherland.com for all upcoming gigs."

🎬SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

The post itself was just words and read, "With great disappointment, I am going to have to cancel the US leg of my tour due to very low ticket sales. I don't think it's fair to the people who have bought tickets, or the venues, to play to half empty houses."

He continued, "I look forward to touring the United States again at a more suitable time. I hope you understand. Sincerely, Kiefer Sutherland. (Refunds will be available from point of purchase)."

View this post on Instagram

Sutherland's cancellation news mirrored a message shared from another group recently forced to cancel the US leg of their tour for the same reason. Less than two weeks ago, The Pussycat Dolls dropped all but one date from the US leg of their tour because of lackluster ticket sales.

Other bands, including the Psychedelic Furs, Living Colour, Zayn Malik, Post Malone, Meghan Trainor, and Dolly Parton, have canceled several US shows for various reasons.

Not everyone has a large backyard to work with, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still grow a thriving garden this season. Whether you’re starting small with herbs or carving out space for vegetables and flowers, the right setup can make gardening feel a lot more manageable.

If you’ve been looking for a compact raised garden bed that fits comfortably on a patio, balcony, or in a tight backyard corner, this Amazon find is worth a closer look — especially while it’s currently on sale. The planter box measures 25 inches wide, though larger 32-inch and 48-inch options are also available if you need more growing space. Since it’s elevated on legs, it reduces the need to bend or kneel while planting and caring for your plants, which is beneficial for anyone with back or knee pain. That extra height can also help keep small animals from easily getting to your harvest.

A slatted bottom panel with drainage gaps helps excess water flow through instead of pooling, supporting healthier roots and more consistent plant growth over time. It’s crafted from natural fir wood, which gives it a rustic look, but you can paint it if you prefer a different look.

The foldable side table is the standout feature. Flip it open when you need a surface for potting soil, seedlings, or tools, then fold it back down when you're done. One Amazon shopper noted it was "easy to assemble," which is a bonus for anyone who just wants to get straight to planting.

Melissa Gilbert Shares Emotional Update About Loving Life ‘Even When It’s Hard’ Amid Timothy Busfield's Legal Woes

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 12:07pm

Melissa Gilbert is showing off her resilience during what is seemingly an especially emotional chapter in her life.

The Little House on the Prairie star returned to Instagram over the weekend with a makeup-free selfie and an encouraging caption, pushing her followers to keep moving forward, even when life feels difficult.

“Ok @officialmodernprairie so many women posted photos on our app, I’ll accept the challenge and bring it here to IG,” Gilbert, 62, wrote on Saturday, May 16, alongside an early morning photo of herself fresh faced with zero filters.

View this post on Instagram

“This is me. No makeup. Early morning. Jammies. No filter,” she continued before adding, “Definitely getting into the picture of my life today. So much more to come.” the actress also included several hashtags in the post, including “#KeepMovingForward,” “#NeverGiveUp” and “#LoveLifeEvenWhenItsHard.”

The actress tagged Modern Prairie, the lifestyle brand and online community she co-founded for women over 50. Just days earlier, Gilbert teased that “something BIG is coming” for the brand as she officially returned to her personal Instagram account for the first time since January.

The recent social media activity comes amid legal troubles surrouding her husband Timothy Busfield. Busfield, 68, was indicted earlier this year on four felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor connected to alleged incidents in 2022 and 2023. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Gilbert has publicly continued standing by her husband throughout the legal proceedings. In a previously submitted court letter, she described Busfield as “my love, my rock, my partner in business and life” and called him “the beating heart of our wild and wonderful extended family.”

She also acknowledged the emotional toll the situation has taken, writing, “This is the strangest letter I’ve ever had to write. Please, please, take care of my sweet husband.”

Notably, Gilbert has disabled comments on both of her recent Instagram posts.

1970 Classic Film, Originally Rejecting ’60s Rock Band, Ranked Among ‘Best Movie Soundtracks’ of All Time

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 11:35am

While some films are celebrated for their groundbreaking cinematography and storytelling, others possess a soundtrack so iconic that it defines the movie's entire legacy.

In 2024, Rolling Stone ranked the 101 greatest movie soundtracks of all time, curating a list of cinema's finest scores. Ranked among films such as Tim Burton's 1989 film Batmanat No. 86 and Harmony Korine’s 1990 film Kids at No. 90, Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1970 classic Zabriskie Point secured the No. 87 spot.

Released in the U.S. on Feb. 9, 1970, Zabriskie Point was a massive box office failure. The movie only grossed $1 million against a $7 million budget, resulting in a significant financial loss for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Along with its commercial flop, critics slammed the film upon release, considering it clumsy and a misrepresentation of American youth.

Despite the harsh reviews, the film grew a passionate cult following over time due to its visually stunning desert imagery and phenomenal soundtrack. Antonioni commissioned several legendary musicians for the project, most notably Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead, both of whom wrote original material for the film. Other popular artists such as The Youngbloods, Kaleidoscope, John Fahey and Patti Page were also featured.

Famously, Antonioni rejected the iconic psychedelic rock band The Doors, turning down their song submission after deciding their sound was too overpowering for his vision. The talent ultimately chosen for the movie shaped a cohesive soundscape that amplified the project's nostalgia factor, creating a perfect time capsule of the late '60s counterculture scene.

Zabriskie Point follows a rebellious college student fleeing a false accusation that he killed a police officer during a campus riot. While on the run, he encounters a young woman in Death Valley, and the two form a romantic connection. Throughout the film, the pair explores themes of anti-capitalism and youthful rebellion within a temporary desert oasis, away from the pressures of a conforming society.

Today, Antonioni's film remains a resonating work within its cult audience. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie holds a 74% audience score—an impressive feat for a project that initially failed so spectacularly. Its enduring popularity and dedicated fanbase attest to its ability to stand the test of time.

1976 Boxing Film's Star Just Recalled Being Told He'd Lose Best Picture Before His Stunning Oscar Win

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 11:18am

Sylvester Stallone never thought Rocky was going to win.

The 79-year-old actor opened up about being warned by industry insiders that he had no shot at Best Picture at the 1977 Oscars. The piece marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic 1976 boxing film.

The Warning Before the Oscars

"You're new in this town. First of all, your screenplay is never going to win," Stallone recalled being told ahead of the ceremony. "You're not winning Best Picture either, because Network is going to win."

Network, the Paddy Chayefsky media satire, was widely tipped as the Best Picture frontrunner. It won four Oscars that night, including Best Actor for the posthumously honored Peter Finch and Best Actress for Faye Dunaway. But the top prize went to Rocky, beating out Network, Taxi Driver, Bound for Glory, and All the President's Men.

"When we won, I was so stunned, I just went, 'Oh my god,'" Stallone exclaimed. "If I wasn't holding onto the chair, I probably would've just done a back flip."

Why It Hit

Stallone's theory on why Rocky connected, post-Vietnam and post-Watergate: "People were looking for something life-affirming."

The film was written in three days in March 1975, shot in 24 days in Philadelphia, and made on a budget of under $1 million. It grossed $225 million worldwide, the top-grossing film of 1976. Director John G. Avildsen also won Best Director.

Stallone's reaction to his sudden stratospheric rise was less straightforward than it looked from the outside. "The good news is, I've peaked, and the bad news is, I've peaked," he said.

What's Coming for the 50th

Rocky returns to theaters in a remastered 4K edition Nov. 7–11.

The Stallone biopic I Play Rocky, starring Anthony Ippolito and directed by Peter Farrelly, hits theaters Nov. 20, just before the film's true 50th anniversary on Nov. 21.

Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert Make Country Music History With Rare Chart Achievement

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 11:14am

Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert have accomplished a rare Billboard feat.

On Musgraves' sixth studio album Middle of Nowhere, released on Apr. 30, the pair debuted the duet "Horses and Divorces" about their past feud.

The track debuted at No. 84 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, making Musgraves and Lambert the first women to debut on the chart with an all-female country duet since 2014.

At that time, Lambert achieved the feat with Carrie Underwood when their duet “Something Bad” debuted at No. 39 on the chart.

RELATED: Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves Seem to Confirm Past Feud—and Tease a Collab

The origin of Musgraves and Lambert's feud is often traced back to the song “Mama’s Broken Heart,” which was released as the fourth single from Lambert’s Four the Record album in 2013.

The track was written by Musgraves alongside Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. According to long-standing rumors, Lambert was eager to record the song, while Musgraves was initially reluctant to give it up because she believed it had potential to be a hit.

It’s been speculated that Lambert asked Musgraves for the song during her wedding to Blake Shelton—either at the reception or the rehearsal dinner—and that Musgraves ultimately agreed, as Lambert was the bigger artist at the time. Neither woman has ever corroborated the story.

“We’d lost touch for years and wouldn’t consider each other friends,” Musgraves recently told NPR of her relationship with Lambert. “I saw her on Instagram one day, riding one of her horses, and I was like, ‘Well, we ain’t friends, but I guess we have two things in common, horses and divorces, that’s for sure. Wait, that could be a really funny song. What if it’s a duet with her? What if I got her to write on it?’”

How Thrift Flipper Connor Sweeney Updated Two Dated Ethan Allen Nighstands

"I almost walked past these at Goodwill," Connor Sweeney captioned his YouTube video. "A matching pair of Ethan Allen side tables for $40 total — in incredible condition, just feeling a little dated and desperate for a refresh. I grabbed them without thinking twice and got straight to work."

To get started, he removed the drawers from the night tables, and removed the drawer pulls, too. Then, he applied a chemical stripper to the nightstands and used a putty knife to scrape off the old top coat and stain. Next, he wiped everything down with acetone, and then used his electric sander.

Next, it was time to stain the wood. After cleaning away all the sawdust, Sweeney applied a pre-stain followed by a spray-on stain in a dark walnut shade.

Then, it was time to really take these pieces to the next level. Using leftover trim from a previous project, Sweeney created and applied custom box molding on the drawer fronts. Once these were securely attached, Sweeney sanded down the drawer fronts and legs of the piece.

For this project, he opted for an all-in-one paint in a light blue hue — which means he didn't need any primer or top coat. After applying three coats of paint, he drilled in his new drawer pulls, and then applied a wipe-on polyurethane seal to the wooden top of the table.

Sweeney was thrilled with how this project turned out, and he listed the pair of night tables on Facebook Marketplace for $300 — meaning he'll make a total of $260.

"The goal was to honor the quality of the piece while completely modernizing the look," Sweeney wrote on YouTube. "Raw wood tops, custom box molding on the drawer fronts, a beautiful dusty blue body, and antique brass hardware to tie it all together. The result is something that looks like it belongs in a high end boutique — not a thrift store."

Taylor Frankie Paul’s ‘Bachelorette’ Season Gets Major New Update

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 10:35am

A new update on Taylor Frankie Paul's Bachelorette season has emerged.

Earlier this month, longtime Bachelor insider Reality Steve claimed the season will air this summer on ABC.

There has been no official word from the network just yet, but the blogger and podcaster has correctly spoiled numerous BachelorBachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise seasons beginning in 2009.

Adding fuel to the fire, gossip site DeuxMoi posted a submission on Thursday, May 14, that confirmed Reality Steve's reporting—but with a slight tweak.

"The rumors of Taylor Frankie Paul's Bachelorette season returning are true, but it's a little different than it's being reported," the anonymous submission read. "Most of the season will be released only on Hulu between July and August, but the live finale will air on ABC at the end of August; this will also be where the new Bachelor is revealed."

The post added, "ABC is hoping to finalize a deal with Robert Irwin to lead the show this fall, but if not, the next choice is Taylor's runner-up from her season. Should be an exciting next few months for the Bachelor Franchise."

After the DeuxMoi report went viral, Reality Steve confirmed it aligns with what he's heard from his sources.

"It's coming from DeuxMoi so take it with a grain of salt. But the only thing I've heard since my initial report that it was going to air this summer on ABC was it is still going to air in 2026. This thing will not get shelved," he said in a video posted on Friday, May 15. "This report makes somewhat sense to me because ABC has announced their summer schedule and their fall schedule and the Bachelorette isn't on it. So it seems like the only way they could do it would be this way."

"I really don't think that they are just never going to air Taylor Frankie Paul's season," he added. "I would expect to see Taylor Frankie Paul's season airing sometime in 2026."

Paul’s season was scheduled to premiere on Mar. 22. On Mar. 19, ABC pulled the plug on her season after TMZ released a never-before-seen video that appeared to show Paul assaulting her ex-boyfriendDakota Mortensen in 2023.

In a statement to TMZ, a Disney Entertainment spokesperson said, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”

The Draper and West Jordan police departments in Utah also opened separate domestic violence investigations regarding alleged altercations between Paul and Mortensen that occurred in February 2026.

In April, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office announced they declined to file charges against Paul for the alleged incidents.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of domestic violence, help is available 24 hours a day through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.

'Lost' Star Just Got Candid About Behind-the-Scenes 'Difficulties' on the Iconic ABC Drama 16 Years Later

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 10:33am

Daniel Dae Kim is still processing Lost.

The 57-year-old actor opened up about behind-the-scenes "difficulties" he says he didn't know about at the time while making the iconic ABC drama.

On the 'Difficulties' He Didn't Know About

"I think there were difficulties on the show — most of which I didn't know at the time. But at the same time, I've made lifelong friends through that show. It helped my career in a way that no other job has," Kim said.

In the years after the show's 2010 finale, several Lost writers and cast members came forward with claims of toxicity, sexism and racism on set, including in a 2023 Vanity Fairexposé where one former writer called the work environment "nakedly hostile." Co-showrunner Damon Lindelof has publicly acknowledged he "failed" to maintain a safe set.

Kim said he keeps in regular touch with Harold Perrineau, Henry Ian Cusick, Josh Holloway, and "the raft boys from season 1." "We bonded over that experience," he said.

He Hasn't Rewatched It Yet

Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai in Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, has not actually rewatched Lost since it ended. "I haven't done a rewatch, actually, and it's something I've been meaning to do. So I think it's in my near future," he explained.

On the divisive finale: "I cared most about the characters, and the fact that the characters were all together at the end of the series was the thing that mattered most to me."

What He's Up To Now

Kim hosts and executive produced K-Everything, a new four-part CNN docuseries covering K-beauty, K-pop, K-drama and K-food. All four episodes are streaming on HBO Max.

1979 ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Episode Was the Darkest in the Series, According to the Cast

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 10:17am

Little House on the Prairie is mostly known for being a wholesome, family-friendly show. However, there were a few episodes that explored the darker side of humanity. During the Little House on the Prairie 50th Anniversarypodcast, Alison Arngrim (who played Nellie Oleson) and Dean Butler (who played Almanzo Wilder) spoke about one storyline in particular that was quite dark.

The 1979 episode that the cast discussed was titled “The Return of Mr. Edwards.” The episode centered around Isaiah Edwards, who was played by Victor French. French left the series to appear on his own sitcom, Carter Country, in 1977. However, when it ended in 1979, the writers were happy to write him back into the show.

“I haven't seen it in a very long time,” the co-host of the podcast, Pamela Bob, said. “And trigger warning for everyone: This is a very sensitive episode.”

After Edwards reappeared on the show, he was involved in a logging accident that left him unable to walk. As a result, he fell into a deep depression and tried to die by suicide multiple times.

When speaking about the episode, Angrim said, “'The Return of Mr. Edwards' is actually one of the series' darkest examinations of despair.”

When asked whether the same episode could be made today, Angrim said that there would be “warnings at every commercial break” and that although a topic like this might be covered on streaming, Little House on the Prairie aired during “the family hour at 8 p.m. on network television. I think people would have 14 fits if you showed this now.”

She continued, “There's a couple of scenes I was slack-jawed, going, ‘I cannot believe this is actually happening in an episode of Little House on the Prairie.'”

She also called the episode “one of the scariest things I've ever seen.” However, everyone on the podcast praised French’s performance. “If Mr. Edwards was just the funny guy, we'd still like him," Bob said. "But the reason why we love him is because of the darkness of the character.”

Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff Warns There Could Be a 'Problem' as Investigation Continues

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 10:04am

The search for Nancy Guthrie is in its fourth month and there seem to be more questions than answers. Investigators are working diligently, sorting through tips, data, and other evidence to try to piece together what happened during the overnight hours of Feb. 1.

In a new interview with People magazine, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos warned that there's a chance the case could go cold.

"There’s thousands and thousands of video out there from intersections and Ring cameras that we have to catalog,” Nanos told the outlet. “Maybe it’s all the white trucks are over here, all the red sedans are over here; you’ve gotta have it so that when you do find a suspect … ‘Hey, the suspect is John Doe, we got him,’ now we go and say, ‘Well, what else do we know about John Doe?'"

Nanos went on to discuss the DNA evidence that was recently sent to the FBI. He believes that authorities are "getting closer to finding out" who that DNA belongs to. Despite having "confidence" in the labs, Nanos says it's possible that the DNA won't yield a result.

"When the labs tell us, 'Hey, there's nothing else we can do,' well, then maybe we've got a problem… we've got a cold case… but right now, the labs aren't telling us that," Nanos said.

Still, the sheriff remains optimistic.

“When you have the best minds of the country working on problems, I think they’re gonna solve them. It just takes a while," he said.

Authorities say that Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Arizona home. Further details about who may have been behind her disappearance or a possible motive are still unknown.

1995 Film, Once Banned in Malaysia, Is Climbing the Charts 31 Years Later

Sat, 05/16/2026 - 10:03am

Family-friendly films often follow a specific formula that makes them an entertaining watch for both kids and adults alike: a wholesome plotline, little to no profanities, and a touch of whimsy. However, that doesn't mean they're free from controversies.

An Academy Award winner that has become one of the most beloved feature-length movies of the last several decades, one classic family favorite movie has faced its fair share of backlash, including being banned from a country upon its initial release.

Babe was released in 1995 and features a human and animatronic voice cast. James Cromwell starred as Farmer Arthur Hoggett and Magda Szubanski played his wife, Esme Hoggett. Christine Cavanaugh voices the titular character, Babe the Gallant Pig.

The 1990s movie was briefly banned by the Malaysian Film Censorship Board due to religious sensitives, but the ban was overturned a year later and Babe was permitted for home release.

Elsewhere, it was reported that there was some tension behind-the-scenes surrounding the film's crew. While Chris Noonan is credited as the movie's sole director, various cast members have said that writer-producer George Miller "ghost-directed" the movie and was his input heavily influenced the overall production.

Despite its controversial qualities, the film is as popular as ever. Rotten Tomatoes has ranked it as one of the best Prime Video movies in May 2026. Placing eight out of 100, the classic has a Tomatometer of 98% and has received rave reviews from film critics.

"Babe is an ancient genre, the beast story updated with animatronics, computerized effects and voice-dubbing by some good actors," Newsweek critic Jack Kroll wrote. "Director Chris Noonan is clearly having fun...Babe is a loining experience."

"A film that is exceptional in its technical effects and its graceful ability to entertain," said Seattle Times' Doug Thomas.

In 2023, actor Cromwell opened up about his famous last line: "That’ll do, pig. That’ll do."

During the movie's iconic final scene, Hoggett and Babe the pig are competing in a sheep herding competition. As the crowd waits with bated breath, Babe successfully herds the sheep into their pen, with Hoggett closing the gate.

“I opened the gate, the sheep walked in, they erupted. So, the difficult shot was done," Crowell, who was nominated for an Oscar in Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his perfomance, told Turner Classic Movies’ Ben Mankiewicz for CBS. "Put the camera low. I said, ‘Where do you want me to take this to?’ I knew what I wanted to do."
