Popular Discount Retailer Is Opening 12 New Stores This Month—Is One Near You?

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:58pm

If you love hunting for designer deals without paying designer prices, Burlington may soon be opening a store closer to home.

The off-price retailer is continuing its rapid nationwide expansion, with 12 new stores set to open across six states throughout July. Burlington recently announced a goal of opening more than 100 new locations by the end of 2026 as it pushes past 1,000 stores nationwide.

Where is Burlington opening new stores?

Per the company’s website, new Burlington stores are scheduled to open in:

  • Hillsboro, Oregon
  • Houston, Texas
  • Montclair, California
  • Quakertown, Pennsylvania
  • Paris, Tennessee
  • Austin, Texas
  • Forney, Texas
  • Lubbock, Texas
  • Keizer, Oregon
  • Moscow, Idaho
  • Salem, Oregon
  • Denton, Texas

The openings will roll out throughout the month, beginning July 3 and continuing through July 31.

Burlington's expansion is just getting started

The retailer plans to open more than 100 locations by the end of 2026 while continuing to modernize with an updated store design.

"Delivering incredible value on brand-name and on-trend merchandise is at the heart of what we do," Burlington CEO Michael O'Sullivan said in a statement to USA Today. The company is also investing behind the scenes. Earlier this year, Burlington broke ground on a two-million-square-foot distribution center near Phoenix that's expected to open in 2028.

The store first opened as Burlington Coat Factory in Burlington, New Jersey, in 1972. The retailer originally offered first-quality, brand-name coats at prices well below traditional department stores. As its merchandise expanded far beyond outerwear, the company eventually dropped "Coat Factory" from its name, rebranding as simply Burlington in 2009 to reflect that it had become "more than just coats."

Burlington isn't the only retailer expanding

Burlington joins a growing list of retailers opening new locations across the country.Costco recently announced several new warehouse openings across the country as part of its long-term expansion strategy, with company leaders saying they expect to add roughly 30 new locations each year moving forward. Aldiis also in the middle of a major growth push, planning to open more than 180 stores in 2026 while investing billions into new distribution centers and an expanded digital shopping experience.

Meanwhile, Trader Joe's continues to grow its loyal fanbase by adding new stores in multiple states throughout the year, with plans to open a whopping 21 stores across 13 states by the end of the year. And for road trippers, Buc-ee's has its own ambitious plans, announcing 15 new travel centers through 2031 as the beloved chain expands farther west.

Country Star, 64, Cancels Upcoming Missouri Concert Due to 'Medical Emergency'

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:50pm

Clint Black is recovering after a medical emergency.

The country singer, 64, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share that he's canceling his Black on the Blacktop Tour stop in Choctaw, Missouri, after being hospitalized over the weekend with an infection in his tonsils.

"Clint Black's performance at the Pearl River Resort Casino, scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, has been canceled due to a medical emergency," the statement began. "Clint was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with infected tonsils requiring emergency intravenous antibiotic treatment."

While the "Killin' Time" singer's team assured that Black is on the mend, the statement did note that country crooner is still receiving treatment, and "is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week."

"Clint and his management team sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this cancellation may cause. All tickets will be fully refunded from the original point of purchase," it concluded.

The post was met with plenty of well wishes and words of encouragement for Black amid his reovery, with fellow singer Ernest writing, "Hang in, CB!" Comedian Theo Von also commented, writing, "Heal up, champ!," as well as Black's daughter, Lily, who kept her comment short and sweet, leaving behind three white heart emojis.

Black's next tour stop is scheduled for July 9 in Minden, Nevada, and as of now, he's set to perform. The country singer's tour is slated to run through the summer and into the fall, with the final show taking place in Charles, Louisiana on November 14.

The multi-city tour comes amid a busy year for the "Like the Rain" performer, who released his memoir, Killin' Time: My Life and Musc, in May.

In the book, Black details the ups and downs he's experienced both in the public eye and away from it, including a myriad of health challenges he faced as kid.

"I was just a scrappy little kid, trying not to drown, finding my way into the nightclubs and then the record business," Black said in an interview with People after the memoir's release. "[I was] pushing through hurdle after hurdle, injury after injury, surgery after surgery, and all those things that happen in every life and continuing to strive for excellence."

He added, "It's a regular life, sometimes lived in the spotlight."

’70s Rock Band’s Version of a Classic Anthem Named One of the Best Covers of 2026 So Far

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:47pm

The greatest songs don’t stay with one artist for very long. From Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” to Sturgill Simpson’s “In Bloom,” the best tracks are built to survive different voices, genres, and generations. And this year is full of stellar reimagined rock standards.

According to Grunge, there are a few covers that stand out among the rest. One in particular is from the ’70s-era post-punk/Gothic rock band The Damned. Their rendition of the 1966 debut single from The Creation, “Making Time,” takes a freakbeat classic and transforms it into a “gritty party song.”

“Cool and crunchy, ‘Making Time’ became fully unrestrained and rollicking when The Damned got ahold of it and made it into a gritty party song,” Grunge wrote, praising the track for transforming a cult '60s favorite into something louder, looser, and unmistakably Damned

Formed in June 1976, The Damned have evolved from pioneers of the U.K. punk scene and architects of ’80s Gothic rock to today’s theatrical punk-rooted, dark-psychedelic pop rockers. With their latest LP, a covers album celebrating hits originated by Pink Floyd, TheKinks, The Rolling Stones, and more, they also pay tribute to The Creation, who bridged '60s mod rock and '70s psychedelic rock.

Originally released in 1966, “Making Time” became one of the defining songs of the British freakbeat movement, influencing generations of garage rock, punk, and alternative rock musicians. These days, it’s perhaps best known for its inclusion in Wes Anderson’s 1998 cult classic, Rushmore. That, or the fact that the track is one of the first to feature a guitar played with a bow, courtesy of The Creation’s trailblazing guitarist, Eddie Phillips. It’s a trick that was later perfected by the great Jimmy Page

Grunge’s praise comes at a fitting time. Nearly 50 years after helping launch the U.K. punk movement, The Damned are celebrating the music that inspired them with their new covers collection. Not Like Everybody Else, which is also an homage to the band’s late founding guitarist, Brian James, who passed away in March 2025, features 10 tracks, all renditions of James’ favorite songs, recorded over five days with producer Mikal Blue at Revolver Recordings in Westlake Village, California, Billboard reported.

“We just thought that since Brian was such a big influence on pretty much a whole generation, and us in particular, wouldn’t it be good to do an album that was an homage to the people that influenced him,” drummer Rat Scabies, whose contribution marks his first time in the studio with The Damned in 30 years, said. “We chose a set of songs that were specifically by people that influenced Brian, and in turn influenced us.”

The Damned’s current lineup includes Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies, Paul Gray, and Monty Oxymoron. Not Like Everybody Else marks the band's first album in three years. And it's available now in multiple formats.

Anthropologie’s $15 Hoop Set Is a ‘Dainty’ and ‘Unique’ Addition to Any Earring Stack

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:30pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Summer style calls for effortless, breezy outfits, and heavy jewelry can feel sticky or uncomfortable in the heat. That said, you don’t have to limit your earring stack to just small huggies and studs. There are plenty of larger options that still offer that same lightweight feel for those days you want to make a statement.

One standout option is the Delicate Chroma Hoop Earrings Set. Right now, this two-piece set is 72% off at Anthropologie during its summer sale, bringing the price down from $54 to just $15 when you add it to your cart. Whether you're shopping for everyday jewelry, vacation accessories, or special event pieces, it's an impressive deal.

The set comes in four colors: lime, light azore, light amethyst, and clear. Each option adds a subtle pop of color that's easy to style and brings personality to your look without overpowering it. Measuring 1.25 inches long and 0.25 inches wide, they’re crafted from 14-karat gold-plated brass, cubic zirconia, and glass.

Each pair features a unique dual-stone design with contrasting cuts. The top stone is oval-shaped, while the lower stone features either a pear-shaped or round-cut design. The combination creates an eye-catching look that feels both modern and elegant.

Because the set includes two pairs of earrings in different sizes, you can wear them individually or mix and match them for a curated ear stack. They're versatile enough to suit minimalist styles while still offering plenty of visual interest.

For a simple everyday look, wear a pair on its own and let the design stand out. If you have multiple piercings, they pair beautifully with small gold huggies, classic gold studs, or delicate cubic zirconia earrings. A thin chain necklace or dainty pendant complements the look without competing for attention.

These earrings are versatile enough for a wide range of occasions. Their delicate look makes them appropriate for work, brunches, and casual outings. At the same time, the sparkling stones and elegant design make them a natural choice for weddings, date nights, and vacations.

They also make a thoughtful gift. The coordinating set feels stylish and unique, while the versatile colors work with a wide variety of wardrobes. The combination of stone shapes and subtle color gives them the feel of a boutique find rather than a typical mass-produced accessory.

One reviewer described the earring set as “pretty,” writing, “I love these. They are so unique and can be for casual or dressy wear.” Another dubbed them the “perfect pair,” adding, “I’m obsessed! This has to be one of my favorite stacks. They’re lightweight, beautiful, classy, and dainty.”

Air Force One Makes History on Maiden Flight — But the Real Story Is Karoline Leavitt's Breakfast

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:21pm

Air Force One made its maiden voyage on July 1, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt documented the historic first flight.

Leavitt shared a series of photos on her Instagram Stories, showing off the $400 million VC-25B. The luxe Boeing 747-8 is famously a controversial gift from Qatar.

The series of snapshots and videos starts off with a clip of the President boarding the plane. Donald Trumptells the press, “This will be the first flight in what may be the greatest commercial plane ever built. It’s the first flight; we’re going to be going to the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library opening.”

He continues, “To be honest with you, I’m excited about the first flight. It's something nobody's ever seen anything like it.”

After takeoff, Leavitt talks to Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller, who says of the new Air Force One, “It’s majestic. It’s perfect. America 250.”

Sure, hearing what the President and one of his key White House staffers have to say is par for the course. But the next pic is really the star show of the show. Leavitt posts a photo of her in-flight meal, and it looks absolutely delicious.

Meals On Air Force One

Air Force One is an opulent 4,000-square-foot aircraft equipped with a lavish Presidential suite, a medical suite, and two galleys for food prep. If you’ve seen the teeny-tiny snack carts and cramped prep areas on commercial flights… let’s just say Air Force One’s galleys are nothing like these mini kitchens. The three-story plane’s cooking quarters are large enough to prep meals for up to 100 people at a time.

So what exactly is everyone eating on Air Force One’s first flight? Well, let’s just say that it’s not a greasy Egg McMuffin.

According to the menu Leavitt posted, the morning meal consists of a ham and cheese croissant with “Tavern ham, Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard layered between a warm croissant. Accompanied with a fresh green salad tossed in a blush wine vinaigrette”. A seasonal fruit bowl filled with “Watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and dragon fruit” and a “Choice of beverage.” Yum!

FYI, if you can catch Leavitt’s Stories before the pics disappear, check out the title on her food photo.

Leavitt titles the image, “Bon appetite!” And yes, that mix of French and English is a common flub that should actually say “Bon appetit!” But we get it. As a sleep-deprived mom of two kiddos under two who just returned from maternity leave, that extra “e” is totally understandable.

'80s Metal Band Announces New Dates for 2026 North America Tour

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:13pm

The band Obituary has some exciting news for their fans.

The metal rock band revealed on Instagram this Wednesday that they will be going on tour later this month, starting on July 24 at the Handlebar in Pensacola, Florida, and concluding at Revival in North Carolina on Aug. 4. Most of the tour stops are concentrated in the Midwest region of the United States.

"New US headline dates this July & August around our 2 Wisconsin shows with Megadeth!" the band wrote in their caption. Tickets will go on sale on Thursday at 10 a.m. local time.

The announcement comes three weeks after Obituary made an appearance at the Milwaukee Metal Fest, which took place from June 4-7 at The Rave/Eagles Club. Obituary was also on tour around Latin America and North America earlier this spring, celebrating the 35th anniversary of their second studio album, Cause of Death.

"I like performing both big festivals and small venues. They are both fun and exciting in completely different ways and I really enjoy both experiences equally," Obituary drummer and frontman Donald Tardy told Metal Sucks back in 2015. "We have played nearly every corner of this planet, and it all is just amazing and a blast to be able to do."

Donald Tardy of Obituary performs at Arena Birmingham on November 7, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Obituary was formed in 1984 in Tampa, originally called Executioner. Mostly rising throughout the 1980s, Obituary became one of the fundamental acts in the development of the death metal genre. Though they had a five-year hiatus from 1998 to 2003, Obituary is still one of the most successful bands in the genre and has released 11 studio albums so far, with their most recent being Dying of Everything in 2023.

Though Obituary does have a demanding touring schedule, as they are constantly playing festivals and supporting various bands, Tardy told Alejandrosis in an interview earlier this year that the band is "constantly writing," and ideas for songs are "constantly being gathered in fragments."

"We've just been so busy, but it is kind of our goal to go ahead and start putting some of that stuff together this year. Getting some of these ideas put down and start that slow process towards maybe doing another release here, maybe next year or so," Tardy said. "But we're always collecting rhythms and ideas and songtitles and things like that all day long. It's kind of what we do."

1978 Rock Classic Became a Timeless Jukebox Anthem, Despite Never Reaching No. 1

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:11pm

Before it became one of the most recognizable songs in American rock, "Old Time Rock and Roll" was simply another single climbing the charts.

Released in 1978 on Bob Seger's Stranger in Town album, the nostalgic rocker peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. While that chart position may seem modest compared to many classic hits of the era, the song's popularity only grew with time, eventually earning recognition as one of the greatest jukebox songs ever recorded.

The song celebrated rock's earliest roots.

Written by George Jackson and Thomas E. Jones III before being reworked by Seger in the studio, "Old Time Rock and Roll" paid tribute to the rhythm and blues pioneers who inspired the first generation of rock musicians. Its infectious piano, driving beat and singalong chorus struck a chord with audiences looking for a reminder of rock’s simpler beginnings.

"We knew that Bob didn't really cut other people's stuff very much, but we thought, well, there's a chance," Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section bassist David Hood told Songfacts. "So we sent it to Bob. He liked it, wanted to make a couple of changes to make it suit him a little bit more. So he came back in and re-recorded the song with us and also recorded it with his band, the Silver Bullet Band, and it just never came off. And so he ended up putting his voice on our demo, the demo that we had done at our Studio B with George Jackson. They just took George's voice off, put Bob's voice on there, and that's the hit record."

Although it never became a No. 1 hit, the recording quickly established itself as one of Seger's signature songs.

Its reputation grew even larger in the years that followed, particularly after its unforgettable appearance in the 1983 film Risky Business. Tom Cruise's now-iconic scene dancing through the house in a dress shirt and socks permanently linked the song with one of the most memorable moments in movie history, introducing it to millions of new listeners and helping it become a fixture on classic rock radio.

The song's enduring popularity also extended far beyond radio. In 1989, the Amusement & Music Operators Association of America, the trade organization representing the jukebox industry, included "Old Time Rock and Roll" on its list of the greatest jukebox songs of all time. The recognition reflected what bar owners, diners and music operators had already witnessed for years: listeners kept coming back to Seger's celebration of classic rock whenever they had a few coins to spend.

"I've seen so many kids perform that song in so many talent shows," Seger told Huff Post of the famous tune. "My son did it in a talent show when he was eight with two of his buddies."

That staying power has become one of the defining features of Seger's career. Alongside classics such as "Night Moves," "Against the Wind" and "Turn the Page," "Old Time Rock and Roll" remains one of the songs most closely associated with the Detroit rocker, continuing to soundtrack bars, road trips, sporting events and celebrations decades after its release.

Nearly 50 years later, "Old Time Rock and Roll" has long outgrown its original chart performance. Though it never reached No. 1, its place among America's greatest jukebox songs proves that a timeless classic isn’t measured solely by where it peaked on the charts, but by how often people choose to hear it again.

No. 1 Charting '80s Rock Band Shocks Fans With Candid Backstage Footage at Concert - 'This is So Cool'

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 5:00pm

There's no decade of rock music that has perfected the art of showbusiness quite like the 1980s. Between the outfits, the pyrotechnics, and the stunts, '80s hard rock and metal bands were dominating the stage with spectacles that were just as important as the music. England's Def Leppard are no exception, gracing the stage with spectacle all the way to now.

Def Leppard were dominant throughout the '80s for both their music and onstage presence. They dominated the charts, especially with their number one hit "Love Bites," which climbed all the way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Their massive sound has filled arenas for decades, making them one of the best acts of the '80s.

Recently, fans got to take a glimpse behind the magic to see what goes in to actually being Def Leppard. During one of their concerts, fans were treated to a backstage look at one of the most important parts of any concert: the encore.

@defleppard

Not all encores are planned... 🎟 DefLeppard.com/tour 🎥 Ryan Sebastyan ontour rock rockandroll rocknroll

Turns out, it's much more spontaneous than we thought! The band decided on the spot that the applause was loud enough to warrant an encore, and then they spent the next while figuring out what song to do.

The moment was humanizing as well as revealing, showing how even the bands all the way at the top are still improvising and figuring things out on the fly. Fans were blown away by the look into band life, taking to the comments to share their reactions to the improvised encore.

"Was such a great performance!! Absolutely loved every second of it!"

"I love seeing DL handle their business like they’ve never aged a day. No nostalgia act here. Let’s wing it and play the new one. 😎👍🏼"

"This is so cool!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥"

The band has clearly not aged a bit, and the spontaneity of this performance just goes to show how truly skilled these guys are.

Karlie Kloss Gets Candid About Her and Josh Kushner's Relationship to the Trump Family

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:56pm

Karlie Kloss knows how to say neutral.

In an interview with Bloomberg Originals, published July 1, the model, who is married to Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner and husband to President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, opened up about how she navigates politics in her famous family.

"Well, I know who I am," Kloss, who shares children Levi, 5, Elijah, 2, and Rae, 9 months, with the venture capitalist, told the outlet. "I know the values that guide my life and the issues that I care about. So, you know, I haven't lost sight of who I am, but also, it's my husband's family."

While Kloss, who grew up in Missouri, considers herself a Democrat, she said she's always been exposed to different points of view.

"We're sitting here in St. Louis, which is a blue dot in a red state," the 33-year-old noted. "Since as long as I can remember, I've always been exposed to a lot of different political points of view, and I think that trained me for my life. You know, I'm a Democrat."

Having that perspective is something the former Victoria's Secret Angel said has helped her find common ground with others — family included — even in the most divisive of political climates.

"I think it's possible to have relationships with people who you politically don't align with," she continued. And I think this country has always been a place for dialogue. We have to be able to talk to each other."

When asked if she and President Trump have ever discussed politics, Kloss revealed she's never met the preisdent. And though she's not in the Oval Office having tough discussions on policy, Kloss has had some important conversations with her husband's family about faith, with the model converting to Judaism early on in her decade-plus relationship with Kushner.

"I fell in love with somebody whose faith was a huge part of who he is," Kloss, who has been with the Thrive Capital founder since the age of 19, said. "And I knew that from the start, and choosing that I wanted that in my life. I'm really proud of that choice."

'70s Rocker and Founding Member of Iconic Rock Band Turns 75

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:35pm

Fred Schneider helped make rock music a little stranger, louder and more fun.

Fred Schneider, the singer and founding member of The B-52s, turns 75 on July 1. Known for his unmistakable speak-singing delivery, offbeat humor and wild stage presence, Schneider became one of the most recognizable voices to come out of the late-1970s new wave scene.

The B-52s formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976 after Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Keith Strickland started making music together. Their sound was unlike almost anything else happening in rock at the time, mixing surf rock, dance music, punk energy and campy retro style into something instantly recognizable.

The band released its self-titled debut album in 1979, introducing listeners to songs like "Rock Lobster," "Planet Claire" and "Dance This Mess Around." Schneider's deadpan vocals became a major part of the group's identity, giving the songs a playful weirdness that helped separate The B-52s from other bands of the era.

Schneider later described the band's early sound as something that happened naturally rather than through a strict plan. "We just did what we did," he told Goldmine. "Who cares if it's weird as long as people like it, and we like it. We're gonna do it." The quote helps explain why The B-52s stood out so quickly, with a sound that felt strange, playful and completely their own.

Although The B-52s first built a cult following, they later reached a much wider audience with 1989's Cosmic Thing. The album included "Love Shack" and "Roam," two of the band's biggest hits, and helped bring their colorful, party-ready sound to a new generation of listeners.

Schneider's role in the group has always been hard to separate from the band's personality. His voice did not sound like a traditional rock frontman, but that was exactly the point. With The B-52s, he helped prove that rock music could be funny, stylish, danceable and deeply original all at once.

Decades after the band first emerged from Athens, The B-52s remain one of the most beloved and unusual acts in rock history. For fans, Schneider's birthday is a reminder of the voice and personality that helped turn the band's oddball sound into something lasting.

1973 Soap Opera Storyline Made TV History With a Decision That Shocked America

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:34pm

As an only child whose parents could not afford camp, my summers were synonymous with soap operas. From 12:30 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST, the TV was always turned to ABC 6, where my mother and grandmother would lock in for hours on their favorite soaps.

It's easy to write off these over-the-top storylines and B-rated acting as "trash TV," but the truth is, there have been many poignant, culturally shifting moments that have aired since their inception. Perhaps one of the most jaw-dropping moments occurred when the long-running soap All My Children introduced a controversial topic through its resident "bad girl," Erica Kane, famously played by the ever-elegant Susan Lucci.

The "Shocking" TV First

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court settled Roe v. Wade, a landmark case that ultimately established a woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion. To call it a culturally polarizing moment is an understatement.

"It changed how people talked about it. It changed how people experienced it," Kristin Luker, professor emerita of law and of sociology at UC Berkeley, said on a 2022 episode of the Berkeley Voices podcast. "And, most importantly — and this is, by and large, being left out of the current debate — it permitted women, that is, women like me, to invest human capital in themselves, confident that they would not have to interrupt their education or their professional career by having a child."

That same year, All My Children aired the first nationally legal abortion storyline on TV. It was preceded by the sitcomMaude in November 1972, when Bea Arthur's character made waves by choosing to undergo an abortion that was legal under New York state law at the time. Agnes Nixon lobbied for months to get the daytime storyline pushed through. At the center of the controversial storyline was Lucci's Erica Kane, who at the time was portrayed as a callous, ruthless woman who opted to get an abortion in order to preserve her budding modeling career.

The storyline was "undone" years later in 2005 when the soap revealed that Kane's abortion didn't actually go through, and her doctor had transferred her pregnancy to another woman. Still, the moment left an indelible mark on TV history.

Susan Lucci Discusses the Pivotal TV Moment

Though this was obviously a fictional storyline, Lucci recalls the episode's aftermath as pretty impactful. In an interview with the Archive of American Television, Lucci recalled being snubbed at her local Catholic church and being stopped in New York City elevators over the controversial episode. Still, to Lucci, it was well worth it.

"I didn't feel any trepidation. I don't know what Agnes [show writer] had to go through to get it on the air. I don't know that part, but for me, no, it seemed quite right," the actress said.

Abortions have been played out countless times on television and in films since that fateful day. However, on June 24, 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned, leaving it up to state discretion on what allows a woman to be able to get an abortion.

Perhaps Lucci's character can address it if the rumors are true that Erica Kane will be returning.

The Staggering Amount Amazon Paid for the ‘Melania’ Documentary

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:26pm

President DonaldTrump has released his 2025 financial disclosure report.

According to the 927-page document, he made quite a bit from the licensing fee for the Melania documentary.

The 2026 film, directed by BrettRatner, follows the First Lady of the United States 20 days before the 2025 presidential inauguration.

Amazon MGM Studios reportedly paid a $40 million fee to acquire Melania and gave the film a $35 million marketing budget. The documentary came up short, earning $16.6 million at the theatrical box office. It now lives on Prime Video.

Melania received polarizing reviews. On RottenTomatoes.com, it earned a 10% score from reviewers and a 98% rating from audience members.

According to the disclosure report, Trump earned a $10.71 million licensing fee for Melania

Skyhorse Publishing paid a $521,161 licensing payment for the First Lady’s memoir, Melania. The company also sent a payment of $6 million in net proceeds from “NFTs and other collectibles” associated with MelaniaTrump.

In total, the president reported an income of at least $2.2 billion. This is more than twice his minimum income from 2024, which totaled $622 million.

In 2025, Trump earned close to $1.4 billion from his family’s crypto businesses, such as the World Liberty Financial, as reported by The New York Times

On the entertainment side, he owns a diverse portfolio of stocks and bonds in media corporations such as Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Skydance and Fox Corp.

"Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged - or will ever engage - in conflicts of interest," White House deputy press secretary AnnaKelly said in a statement

She continued: "All actions by President Trump and his administration are taken in the best interest of the American people – and any so-called 'reporters' pushing otherwise are recycling the same, tired, false narrative that Democrats and the legacy media have been pushing for a decade."

Mug's First Limited-Edition Flavor Is the Nostalgic Dirty Soda You Didn't Know You Needed

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:15pm

Root beer float lovers have a new reason to stock the fridge this summer. Mug has officially introduced Root Beer Floats Vanilla Howler, the brand's first-ever limited-edition flavor, giving fans a grab-and-go take on the classic root beer float — without needing to scoop a single spoonful of ice cream.

Inspired by the booming dirty soda trend, the new release combines Mug's signature bold root beer with a smooth, creamy vanilla flavor designed to recreate that nostalgic float experience in every sip.

😋😋 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter 🍳🍔

Unlike a traditional dirty soda, which is typically made by mixing soda with cream and flavored syrups, Vanilla Howler delivers that rich, dessert-like taste straight from the can or bottle. The result is a sweet, creamy twist on classic root beer that's made for anyone craving a little nostalgia with their refreshment.

Dirty Soda Fans, This New Mug Root Beer Flavor Is Made for You

The launch is especially notable because it's the first time Mug has ventured into the limited-edition flavor space. While plenty of soda brands have experimented with seasonal and specialty releases over the years, Mug has largely stayed true to its original recipe—making Vanilla Howler a milestone for longtime fans of the brand.

The new flavor is now available nationwide in both original and zero-sugar varieties. Shoppers can find it in 12-ounce can multipacks or 20-ounce single-serve bottles anywhere Mug Root Beer is sold, making it easy to enjoy whether you're filling the cooler for a cookout or grabbing a drink on the go.

Fans Say Mug Root Beer Floats Vanilla Howler Is "Absolutely Awesome"

Its arrival also reflects the continued popularity of dirty sodas, a trend that has exploded from regional favorite to nationwide obsession thanks to social media and consumers' growing appetite for indulgent, unique beverages. Rather than asking fans to mix their own drinks, Mug has bottled the flavor combination into a ready-to-drink soda that captures the essence of a frosty root beer float in a convenient package.

And fans are certainly here for it. "MUG SAVED THE SUMMER!!" exclaimed one person. "Getting thirsty already," said another. "Bought a 12 pack yesterday and made a root beer float with it last night. Was absolutely awesome. I love MUG!!" raved one more.

Whether you're a lifelong root beer fan or simply curious about the latest soda craze, Mug's Vanilla Howler offers a fun new way to revisit a timeless dessert. Since it's a limited-edition release, fans may want to keep an eye out during their next grocery run before this special flavor disappears from shelves.

'70s Adult Film Star Says She Thought Sarah Jessica Parker Hated Her for 30 Years

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:09pm

It took three decades for Robin Byrd to get clarity on her relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker.

The former adult film star turned New York City public-access TV host was convinced SJP hated her after a tense encounter at a New York City nightclub 30 years ago — that is, till the Sex and the City star executive-produced a documentary about her life.

Byrd shared the story behind her longtime misconception with Jess Rothschild on a bonus episode of the GLAAD Award-nominated docu-series, Finding Fire Island, in which she detailed what she believed was a joke gone wrong.

It all went down at a local jazz club, where Parker was promoting one of her early films ahead of SATC. Byrd was also set to be there that night and was hired by a publicist to bring a group of scantily-clad men to the club, to play into the film's "sex in New York" theme.

"30 years ago or more, she was at Iridium, this jazz club, promoting one of these movies before Sex and the City, but it sort of had a sex in New York type of theme," Byrd recalled, before sharing where things took a turn.

"So, the publicist for that movie had called me to get six or eight guys in Speedos or G-strings and jockstraps to walk around Iridium, and I said, 'Sure,'" the former adult star continued. "And we did, and we walked by the table where she was sitting, and out of the corner of my ears, I heard: 'What is she doing here with them?'"

It's then that The Robin Byrd Show host said she shot a witty comeback at the actress that she would come to regret.

"And I just turned, and I said, 'It's a movie that has something to do with sex, and they asked me to bring the boys,'" Byrd told Rothschild.

Byrd was sure she made an enemy for life in Parker after her "little wisecrack," so much so, that when she found out SJP was one of the executive producers on the doc, she told her team not to remind Parker of their history.

It wasn't until they were on the red carpet together for the premiere of the Parker-produced HBO documentary Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story, that the Debbie Does Dallas alum had the guts to bring it up.

"So when we were on the red carpet at the premiere for the Tribeca Film Festival, and I whispered in her ear while we're hugging: 'I don't know if you remember, but I always thought for 30 years you hated me because I came up with some wisecrack because of something that you had said," Byrd shared, to which she said Parker responded with an adamant, "No, no, no."

30 years later, the pair are not only partnered on the film, but friendly, marking a "full circle" moment for the former late-night host.

"It was like a full circle. Here in my mind, I created something, and how ironic that 30 or 40 years later, here we are, and she's producing my film, and she's such a big fan. She gave me such kuddos, without knowing that I paved the way for Sex and the City for her," Byrd gushed of the "meant-to-be" moment. "I was so flattered and so humbled by that because of the fact that, here I thought in my mind that she hated me, and she's producing my film!"

'70s Rock Icon and Lead Singer of Beloved Rock Band Turns 78

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 4:07pm

John Ford helped shape one of the Strawbs' most recognizable eras, and his work is still tied to some of the band's biggest moments more than 50 years later.

Ford, the bassist, guitarist and singer best known for his time with the progressive folk rock band the Strawbs, turns 78 on July 1. Born in London in 1948, Ford joined the group in the early 1970s, a period when the band was moving beyond its folk roots into a heavier rock sound.

Before joining the Strawbs, Ford performed with several British acts, including the Five Proud Walkers and Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera. His background in rock, folk and psychedelic music made him a strong fit for the Strawbs as the band continued diversifying its sound.

The Strawbs first formed out of the Strawberry Hill Boys, a group led by Dave Cousins. Over time, the band moved from folk clubs into a wider rock audience, becoming known for mixing acoustic songwriting with progressive arrangements and more dramatic instrumentation.

Ford joined the Strawbs in 1970, along with drummer Richard Hudson. Together, the two helped give the band a stronger rhythm section and rock edge, adding a different energy to the group's early '70s recordings.

Ford later reflected on his writing process in a 2004 interview with Lindsay Sorrell, explaining that "anything and everything" could inspire him. "I'm not a poet like Dave Cousins though," he said, adding that he usually had to "work around a title or start off with a tune" before adding lyrics later.

One of Ford's biggest contributions came with "Part of the Union," which he co-wrote with Hudson. The song became one of the Strawbs' most famous releases, reaching No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart in 1973 and giving the band one of its most widely remembered hits.

After leaving the Strawbs in 1973, Ford and Hudson continued working together as Hudson Ford. The duo released several albums and found chart success with songs including "Pick Up the Pieces," "Burn Baby Burn" and "Floating in the Wind."

Ford later worked with the Monks, who became known for the 1979 single "Nice Legs Shame About the Face." He also released music as a solo artist and remained connected to the Strawbs through later reunions and performances.

Across his career, Ford moved through folk rock, progressive rock, pop and other styles without being tied to only one era of music. While his time with the Strawbs remains his best-known chapter, his work after the band showed the range that kept him active long after the group’s 1970s peak.

As Ford turns 78, his place in music history remains important. His playing, songwriting and vocals helped define one of the Strawbs' most successful periods, and his work in the Hudson Ford duo produced many unforgettable pieces. Now, Ford carries a legacy still honored by longtime fans of British rock.

You could make a store-bought cake, a tray of cookies, or a few cupcakes look right at home on a plate with this much color. There’s room to arrange treats without stacking everything too closely, and the pink finish would look pretty next to lemonade, a fruit salad, berry desserts, or a few small bites on a patio table. You could also use it for strawberries, tea sandwiches, wrapped candies, or pastries if you want something that works beyond a traditional cake plate.

One reviewer wrote, “This is a beautiful plate that is sturdy and a great value for the money,” adding that “the pink color is so pretty.” Another called it “super cute,” while a third described it as “perfectly pink.” A couple of reviewers did mention issues with the finish, including small chips or pitting, so it’s worth checking the plate when it arrives.

This plate would look fabulous paired with pastel dishes, scalloped glassware, floral napkins, or gold flatware if you’re setting up a brunch or dessert table. And while it’s great for summer parties now, it could easily come back out later for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, bridal showers, tea parties, birthdays, or anniversaries, so it’s not a one-season-only buy.

Country Star Abruptly Cancels Show Amid 2026 North America Tour

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 3:40pm

Clint Black has been on the road this summer for his Back on the Blacktop Tour, but unfortunately, one of his shows got cancelled.

The country star's team posted on Instagram that Black was admitted to the hospital on Sunday for an emergency surgery to cure infected tonsils, and is on an intravenous antibiotic treatment. Unfortunately, this means that his show, which was originally scheduled at the Pearl River Resort Casino in Mississippi on Friday, has been cancelled.

Thankfully, the 64-year-old singer is set to make a full recovery and is "expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week." So far, his management has not commented on his concerts scheduled in Nevada and California, which are set to take place from July 9-11.

Black and his management also "sincerely apologize for the inconvenience" the cancellation may have caused. All tickets will be refunded from the point of purchase.

Black kicked off his U.S. tour on May 8 in Minnesota, and has so far visited various cities in Tennessee, Illinois, Florida, Alabama and Georgia. He is also scheduled to tour throughout the summer and fall, making stops in Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington and Texas, and will revisit various cities in Florida, Illinois and more. Some of his stops on his Back on the Blacktop Tour are book conversations, where he will be promoting his memoir, Killin' Time: My Life and Music.

"Every night is a World Series game to me. I want to be at my best. I’m striving for excellence. And what it gives me is a chance to entertain people," Black said on the Takin' a Walk podcast in May when asked by host Buzz Knight about what live performances mean to him today. "It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. But doing it on my terms, I’m not running around swinging from ropes and all that. There’s no pyro explosions. It’s really about the music and a little bit about the comedy."

Black is a multi-Grammy-nominated artist, as well as a songwriter, actor and producer. He signed with RCA Nashville in 1989 and released his debut album, Killin' Time, which produced four straight No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Throughout his career, he has had more than 30 singles on the Billboard country charts, 13 of which have reached No. 1. So far, he has released 14 studio albums, with his most recent being Out of Sane in 2020.

The "Like the Rain" singer revealed in multiple interviews that he is a self-taught musician, and learned how to play the harmonica and guitar when he was just a teenager. When Black was 17 years old, he was trying to decide between becoming an astronaut or a musician — obviously, he chose the latter.

"I really had grown up dreaming of being an astronaut. I decided I was either going to join the Air Force in an attempt to make my way into the space program, or I was going to pursue music," Black shared to Musicribe. "I think I was 17 or 18 when I made that call. Fortunately, [with my grades] the Air Force wouldn’t have let me in either way."

Despite his cancelled show on Friday, for now, Black is set to take the stage again on July 9 in Minden, Nevada. Tickets and more information for the rest of his Back on the Blacktop Tour can be found on his official website.

Times Square Ball Will Drop in July for the First Time Ever—Here’s Why

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 3:38pm

Celebrations for the 250th birthday of the United States will take place all across the globe this weekend, and New York City is no exception. But while those in the Big Apple will be treated to patriotic parades and festivals this Independence Day, another event will take place in a familiar location.

During a 21-hour period from July 3 through July 4, the Times Square Ball will drop to mark the historic event, in a summertime first since the tradition began in 1907.

View this post on Instagram Eight Drops for Eight Time Zones

The Ball Drop will happen eight times as the clock hits midnight in each U.S. time zone. The eight distinct ball drops ensure that every U.S. time zone is included in the historic 250th birthday.

The first drop, at 10:00 AM ET, will be for the American territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, which are on Chamorro Standard Time. It will then drop at 11:59 PM ET for the New York City countdown and continue every hour or two to mark Central Time, Mountain Time, Pacific Time, Alaska Time, and Hawaii-Aleutian Time. The last Ball Drop will occur at 7:00 AM ET in American Samoa, which observes Samoa Standard Time.

"This is more than a countdown. It’s a moment that brings the entire country together, one time zone at a time," Rosie Rios, Chair of America250, said in a press release. "From Guam to New York to Alaska to American Samoa, we are creating a shared experience where every American can see themselves in this celebration and be part of something bigger than any one city or moment."

How to Watch

The Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show main show will air from 9:00 PM ET on July 3 until 12:15 AM ET on July 4, after the New York City Time Ball Drop. It can be livestreamed at america250.org or on the America's Block Party Mobile App. Unlike the New Year's Eve Ball Drop, the 250th birthday celebration will feature a closed set, and no one will be allowed in the plaza or streets around Times Square.

Comedian Jeff Gaffigan will host the main show, while Grammy-winning musicians Mary J. Blige, Brad Paisley, NE-YO, and others are expected to perform. While they aren't part of the Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show, the first Ball Drop and those that follow New York City's can also be livestreamed online or through the app.

McDonald’s ‘Wild’ Breakfast Item Needs to Come to the U.S.

Wed, 07/01/2026 - 3:28pm

If you’re a fan of the sweet and salty flavor combination, you’re likely familiar with the popular breakfast staple at McDonald’s that’s an on-the-go take on a pancake meal: the McGriddle.

Related: McDonald’s Says Its New Menu Item Is Like All Your Favorites ‘In One’

With eggs, cheese, and a breakfast meat of your choice, like sausage or bacon, all sandwiched between two maple-flavored griddle cakes, the breakfast sandwich has delighted McDonald’s customers since 2003. Now, a new version is getting major buzz on social media, prompting fans to argue vehemently over whether or not they would try it.

Popular food blogger Snackolator took to Instagram to share an image of Choco McGriddles, which are just like traditional McGriddles, but instead of being maple-flavored, they taste like chocolate. “I don't know how to feel about this,” wrote the influencer before continuing, “This is exactly what it sounds like - the McGriddle patties we all know but with a chocolate flavoring. You can get them now in Hong Kong as a sandwich or on their own in their deluxe breakfast. Would you try these if McDonald's brought them here?”

Commenters flocked to share their take on the new menu item, writing, “On their own sure, with cheese? Not so sure,” and stating, “This is very iffy, would’ve been better with like cinnamon.” A third simply wrote, “Wild!”

But others seemed more intrigued, commenting, “On its own…I’d smash 50,” and “I love sweet and salty so I would have tried this. It's like sea salt and chocolate. It's not that far-fetched.” Others agreed that the combination is not unusual, explaining that it “Doesn’t seem all that weird when it’s essentially chocolate chip pancakes as the bun.”

“Probably would have been better as a chocolate chip McGriddle but I would try it,” said one commenter, as others griped that they “wish it was in the U.S.”

It sounds to us like the Choco McGriddles need to make their way stateside so American customers can try them out firsthand and settle the debate for themselves.
