Rosie O'Donnell Reveals the Eerie Coincidence That Made Her Instantly Bond With One of the World's Biggest Pop Stars
When filming began in 1991 for the women's baseball comedy A League of Their Own, Rosie O'Donnell had recently watched Truth or Dare. Thanks to the documentary, which followed Madonna's Blond Ambition World Tour, O'Donnell already knew a few things about her new co-star. One specific detail would cement a lifelong bond between the two.
"I had never met another woman whose mother died and they‘re named after their mother and then when you go to the gravesite, you see your name on the tombstone," O’Donnell told PEOPLE. "The first thing I said was, ‘My mom died when I was young and I was named after her too,’ and it was like we became sisters at that moment."
A Shared Loss That Brought Them TogetherO'Donnell was 10 when her mother, Roseann Teresa O'Donnell, died from breast cancer. Madonna's mother, Madonna Louise Ciccone, died from breast cancer when Madonna was five. Both women have spoken about how their mothers' deaths have affected their lives. O'Donnell's one-woman show, Common Knowledge, is about her perspective of motherhood without her own mother around.
Praising Madonna's ParentingWhile O'Donnell adopted her first child in 1995, Madonna gave birth to Lourdes (Lola), her first child, a year later. Madonna is now a mother of six, while O'Donnell has five kids. The formerThe View co-host reminisced about what a "phenomenal" mother Madonna is.
"I have to say Madonna has done one hell of a job raising those children," she said. "She ran a very tight ship and I had a very not tight ship. Her kids, Lola and Rocco, would come over for a playdate when they were little and as soon as she left, I would give them an ice pop and turn on the cartoons. They didn’t get to watch TV. But she’s an amazing mother and those kids are concert pianists and artists and singers."
1972 Yes Epic, Lasting Nearly 19 Minutes and Ignored by Radio, Became Greatest Long Rock Song Ever Recorded
Yes released "Close to the Edge" in 1972, and radio ignored it almost entirely. The song runs for 18 minutes and 43 seconds. It takes up the entire first side of a vinyl record. In 1972, radio stations played three-minute songs. "Close to the Edge" wasn't a three-minute song. It wasn't close. And yet more than 50 years later, Goldmine Magazine called it the greatest long song ever recorded, across every genre, full stop.
In 1972, three minutes was the length of a song. That was the rule radio had built its entire structure around. Record labels wanted three-minute singles they could promote. Yes were commercially successful at this point. They had options. They could've chased radio. They could've made something shorter and more accessible and probably more profitable.
Instead, they recorded 18 minutes and 43 seconds and called it one piece of music.
The song's lyrics were inspired by Herman Hesse's novel Siddhartha, a meditation on spiritual self-discovery. That context explains what Jon Anderson is doing with his voice throughout. The song opens with nature sounds. Birds, water, the world before anything human intrudes. Then it shifts into something more unsettling, unusual rhythms and a kind of controlled chaos before things settle into a shape you can follow. Rick Wakeman's keyboards give the whole thing its cathedral scale, the sense that you're hearing something being built rather than played. Steve Howe's guitar is what Goldmine calls "unique and wiry," cutting through the architecture Wakeman creates. And then there's Jon Anderson's voice, which Goldmine describes as "speaking in tongues, all mystical and just a little bit scary, like if you follow him and his flowing robe, you're gonna get locked in the church basement."
The church basement line is a joke. It's also accurate.
The ending is completely different. Goldmine calls it "vaulted and heavenly," the kind of finish that makes the previous 17 minutes feel earned rather than self-indulgent. You have to commit to the whole thing before you understand what it was building toward.
Atlantic Records knew radio wouldn't play 18 minutes, so they cut a special radio-only version of the song into 3-to-5 minute segments and distributed it to disc jockeys with markers showing where to cut. Most stations still didn't play it. The album still reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Listeners found it without radio's help.
The cover, painted by Roger Dean, showed floating islands and impossible landscapes. It told you exactly what kind of journey you were about to take before you'd heard a note.
Goldmine's most important sentence about "Close to the Edge" is its most quietly extraordinary: it calls the song the greatest long song of all time "whether you buy into what Yes is selling or not." That qualifier is doing a lot of work. You don't have to love progressive rock. You don't have to care about church organ or mystical vocalists or 18-minute structures. The achievement exists independent of your taste. The song is still the greatest of its kind.
Fifty Years Later, New Ears Are Still Finding ItThe five musicians who made "Close to the Edge" never made it again as a unit. Bill Bruford, the drummer whose playing holds the song's most ambitious sections together, found the sessions particularly laborious and left immediately after recording to join King Crimson. Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Chris Squire and Bruford played together for the last time on that record. Every note carries that weight now whether they knew it at the time or not.
In March 2025, Rhino released a Super Deluxe Edition of Close to the Edge as a five-CD, one-LP and Blu-ray set. New listeners are finding what that lineup made in 1972 through a Dolby Atmos mix by producer Steven Wilson, previously unreleased recordings including alternate mixes and edits, and a two-CD live album recorded at the Rainbow in London on December 16, 1972. The same month the original was being ignored by radio, Yes were playing it live to crowds who understood exactly what they were hearing.
In 2026, vinyl copies of Close to the Edge are still selling. The album radio wouldn't play in 1972 is being pressed onto new vinyl and bought by new listeners more than 50 years later.
In 1972, radio stations played three-minute songs. Yes recorded 18 minutes and 43 seconds and called it one piece of music. Radio ignored it. Atlantic Records even chopped it into segments, trying to force radio to play it. It still didn't work. The album reached No. 3 anyway. The Super Deluxe Edition is still selling. The vinyl is still moving.
Some music refuses to be made smaller. "Close to the Edge" has always known exactly how long it needed to be.

Fan-Favorite Chain Ranked ‘Best Fast Food Taco’ in the Country
Some people can’t get enough of tacos made with soft flour tortillas, while others prefer a crispy shell. And while there are people out there who love a dollop of sour cream on their tacos, some taco purists think the best ones only need some chopped onion and cilantro. But when it comes to fast food tacos, there’s an undeniable champion.

Instead of taking up half a garage shelf like a standard chest cooler, this 45-quart cooler pops up, holding up to 76 cans. It then snaps down flat to about a third of its original size when you're done.
The Snap 'N Go hard side cooler was the highlight of the event, and it won't be available until Fall.Coleman

"From the cups that we use on stage every night to toast the fans to the limited-edition Snap ’N Go cooler coming this fall, I have really enjoyed working with the Coleman team on this collection and showing fans the products I use at my home, on the road, and at the beach. Richard Dreyfuss Claims Bill Murray Was a 'Bully' on Set of 'What About Bob?': 'Terribly Unpleasant Experience'
As most ordinary viewers are sure to tell you, What About Bob? remains a certified classic of '90s comedy, featuring two of the entertainment industry's most beloved comedic actors.
While Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Murray might have delivered comedy gold with their energetic chemistry in the film, things were more than a little tense between the two stars behind the scenes.
In a 2009 interview with The AV Club, Dreyfuss reflected on his experiences working with Murray, confessing that he outright "didn't like" the SNL alum during their time on the film.
"Funny movie. Terribly unpleasant experience," Dreyfuss admitted. "We didn’t get along, me and Bill Murray. But I’ve got to give it to him: I don’t like him, but he makes me laugh even now. I’m also jealous that he’s a better golfer than I am. It’s a funny movie. No one ever comes up to you and says, 'I identify with the patient.' They always say, 'I have patients like that. I identify with your character.' No one ever says that they’re willing to identify with the other character."
Elsewhere, Cracked.com mentioned a similar story that saw the Jaws star recount a particularly acrimonious dinner with Murray. "Bill just got drunk at dinner,” Dreyfuss alleged. “He came back from dinner one night, and I said, ‘Read this script tweak, I think it’s really funny.'”
“He put his face next to me,” Dreyfuss continued. “Nose-to-nose. And he screamed at the top of his lungs, ‘Everyone hates you! You are tolerated!'”
“There was no time to react because he leaned back and took a modern glass-blown ashtray," the Close Encounters actor continued. "He threw it at my face from only a couple of feet away. And it weighed about three-quarters of a pound."
As Cracked pointed out, Murray shrugged off the rumors surrounding his prickly relationship with Dreyfuss years later in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It worked for the movie. I mean, I drove him nuts, and he encouraged me to drive him nuts.”
Lego's New 1,478-Piece 'X-Files' Set Takes Fans on a Nostalgic Trip Back to the '90s

Are you a fan of the cult-favorite TV series The X-Files and looking for a chance to revisit the gritty '90s sci-fi drama with a new Lego tribute? Well, you're in luck. The Lego Group and Disney Entertainment have just unveiled Lego Ideas The X-Files (21369), a massive 1,478-piece model that celebrates the beloved TV series.
To help celebrate the launch, Lego tapped Emmy Award-winning actor Gillian Anderson, who stars as Dana Scully in a cinematic mini-film tribute to the show. Packed with a familiar cast of characters and plenty of Easter eggs to discover, the new build brings some of the series' most memorable moments to life in Lego form.
Inside the New Lego Ideas The X-Files SetCourtesy Lego
The Lego Ideas The X-Files set features a detailed build of Fox Mulder's office, complete with a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO. The set comes with eight minifigures: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, the Flukeman and a gray alien, giving you plenty of ways to recreate a variety of key investigations and encounters.
Where this set really shines is in its authentic series details. Builders can find pieces like a "The Truth Is Out There" tile, an "I Want to Believe" poster, an X-Files dossier and even a nod to Mulder's sunflower seed habit. There are also pencils stuck in the ceiling of Mulder's office, a fun reference to one of the agent's quirkiest habits.

Further bringing the set to life, it also offers a variety of display options. The forest diorama can be showcased on its own, while Mulder's office can be opened or partially disassembled to reveal interior details. As for the UFO, it can be mounted on a transparent stand to give the illusion of hovering above the forest or removed and displayed separately, giving fans more than one way to showcase their favorite series moments.
Submitted as part of the Lego Ideas '90s Nostalgia Challenge, the Lego Ideas The X-Files set was created by Brisbane-based 3D artist and fan designer Brent Waller. The Lego Ideas platform invites fans to submit product ideas, which are then voted on by the community before being considered for production as official Lego sets, giving creators the chance to see their designs become a reality.
Where and When to Buy Lego Ideas The X-Files SetIf you're looking to get your hands on a set, the LEGO Ideas The X-Files (21369) set will be available for Lego Insiders early access from Aug. 1, before becoming available on Lego.com for everyone on Aug. 4. The 1,478-piece set will retail for $199.99 and is geared toward ages 18 and up.
And to sweeten the deal, while supplies last, shoppers who purchase the set between Aug. 1–10 will receive the Lego Ideas The X-Files: Scully's Lab (40896) as a free gift with purchase. The set recreates authentic details of the classroom lab at the FBI National Academy and includes a Dana Scully minifigure wearing her lab coat and scrubs.
Make sure to set a reminder for August and sign up to be a Lego Insider while you're at it. While the gift with purchase is only available while supplies last, fans will likely be just as eager to add the main build to their collection as well.

'80s Star Says She's Still 'Chasing the Holy Grail' As Her Biggest Hit Turns 40
Forty years after recording the song that would become her biggest international success, Kim Wilde says she's still driven by the same ambition that launched her career: writing the perfect pop song.
The British singer first broke through in 1981 with "Kids in America," but it was her electrifying 1986 cover of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" that became her biggest hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 the following year and cementing her place among the defining pop stars of the decade.
Now, as she prepares for an Australian tour this November and works on another studio album, Wilde says she has no interest in simply revisiting her past.
Instead, she's still chasing what she calls the "holy grail" of songwriting.
"We're still chasing the holy grail of the perfect three minute pop tune," Wilde told Noise11. "It still feels like a great idea to us. It still inspires us."
That philosophy shaped her 2025 album Closer and is already guiding its follow-up, which she revealed is scheduled for release next year.
Rather than trying to recreate the sound of "Kids in America" or "You Keep Me Hangin' On," Wilde said every new song begins with one question: will it belong on stage alongside the classics?
"We do a lot of live work, so when we write, we write for what we think will work live with our band," she said. "It's not about looking back. It's not about trying to recreate 'Kids In America' or 'Cambodia.' It's about writing songs that we feel belong on stage next to those songs."
That creative process has remained a family affair throughout her career. Wilde first collaborated with her father British rock-and-roll pioneer Marty Wilde and her brother Ricky Wilde, who wrote much of her early material. Today, Ricky's daughter Scarlet Wilde has joined the songwriting team.
"When I started making records I was working with my dad, who was only about 40 at the time," Wilde said. "Now I'm working with Scarlet, who's 20 years younger than me. We exchange ideas, write songs together and inspire each other."
The collaboration has helped keep Wilde looking forward rather than backward. While fans still expect to hear classics including "Kids in America," "Cambodia," "Chequered Love" and "You Came," she says creating new music remains just as important as celebrating the songs that made her famous.
"We're writing again today," she said. "The next album comes out next year. We're still inspired to write new stuff, but we haven't forgotten how to celebrate the past."
Wilde also believes she's a stronger singer today than she was in the early 1980s, even if revisiting her biggest hits requires a little restraint.
"My voice is a lot stronger now. Sometimes I have to remind myself to soften it because people want to hear those songs the way they remember them."
Retirement, meanwhile, isn't on her mind.
"I can't imagine ever wanting to stop," Wilde said. "The only thing that would stop me would be ill health. I'm doing everything I can to stay as healthy and as strong as I can."
For Wilde, the biggest hits are part of her legacy. The search for the perfect three-minute pop song, however, is still very much a work in progress.
1952 Cinema Masterpiece, Famous for a 9-Minute Fight Scene, Left the Lead Actress With a Broken Hand
By 1952,John Wayne had established himself as the top Western actor in America. But those weren't the only roles he was winning at. While Wayne's Western persona is well-known, his reputation for playing a hardened but righteous man is even more prevalent. That persona shone through in his iconic performance in The Quiet Man.
Rather than saddling a horse for a showdown in some dust-bowl town, Wayne played Sean Thornton, an Irish-American ex-boxer who, in an effort to escape his dark past, returns to his ancestral homeland in Innisfree, Ireland. Wayne's character hopes to live a peaceful life in the town, but circumstances force him to settle his dilemmas through his fists. The role pushed beyond Wayne's stereotypical portrayal of a macho man, drawing out a more tender, serious, and hilarious side of the revered actor.
Movie Poster Image Art / Getty Images
A Tumultuous Movie SetWhile the movie challenged Wayne's standard persona, the behind-the-scenes drama was brimming with testosterone. The film culminated in a famous nine-minute fight scene between Wayne's character and the brother of his love interest (played by Maureen O'Hara), portrayed by Victor McLaglen. The two take their brawl across the entire town, with comedic relief shots of them stopping for a pint before continuing the fight.
However, director John Ford used unusual methods to bring out the best in his cast. The day before the fight scene was shot, he baited McLaglen by berating him in front of his son, ensuring he was properly enraged when the cameras rolled. He tried to provoke O'Hara similarly, but she didn't back down and often put Ford in his place, according to Express.
While the fight scene was very "real" in the sense that there was genuine anger on set—and both actors performed their own stunts, resulting in heavy bruising—the actual "hospitalization" came from an earlier, smaller moment.
O'Hara's character attempts to slap Wayne for kissing her, but when Wayne blocks her strike, she ends up suffering a hairline fracture in her hand.
Related: 1976 Classic John Wayne Western, Which Was His Final Film, Had an ‘Intense’ Feud on Set
“Now let me tell you about that slap,” wrote O’Hara, according toJohn Wayne's official website. “That day on the set, I was mad as hell at Duke and Mr. Ford for something they had done earlier in the day. My plan was to sock Duke in the jaw and really let him have it.”
“Duke came over and said, ‘Let me see that hand. You nearly broke my jaw,’” she continued.
Though she went to the hospital to have it looked at, the film was being shot in chronological order, so O'Hara had to go without a cast so her hand could reset naturally while filming continued.
Despite the drama on set, the film remains one of Wayne's most beloved classics.

Rosie O'Donnell Beams Alongside Her Son and Daughter Following Her New One-Woman Show
Rosie O'Donnell always has her kids in her corner, even on opening night.
O’Donnell, 64, who is currently taking the stage in her new one-woman show, "Rosie O'Donnell: Common Knowledge," was joined by two of her children backstage after her first performance at the Daryl Roth Theatre in New York City. Her son, Blake O'Donnell, 26, and her daughter, Vivian O'Donnell, 23, flanked their mom in the dressing room as they smiled in celebration of her first big show.

How Many Children Does Rosie O'Donnell Have?O'Donnell has five children in total. Her other kids, Parker, 31, and Clay, 13, were not pictured, and her daughter Chelsea, 28, is currently in prison.
While five may be a busy household, O'Donnell told PEOPLE that “all I wanted my whole life was to have a bunch of kids.”
“I would have had more, but five already is a lot, and I didn’t know that when I was adopting children in my 30s,” she told the publication.
O’Donnell Had a FaceliftO’Donnell recently took to her Substack page to share a deeply personal essay about how she previously vowed never to have plastic surgery. However, she had a change of heart earlier this year when she decided to have a lower deep plane facelift.
“I used to feel very strongly about facelifts,” O’Donnell wrote on Substack. “Not casually — morally. I had assigned myself as head of all women who would never – ever. I thought it was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide. And then I lost 50 pounds.”
Feeling like gravity was getting the best of her after her dramatic weight loss, O’Donnell would look in the mirror and say, “This isn’t aging, this is melting with intention.” Her 13-year-old child, Clay, didn’t like the idea of plastic surgery, telling O’Donnell she “earned her wrinkles.” While she put off the procedure for months, she finally went under the knife in January.
O’Donnell shared a photo of her results on Instagram.
View this post on Instagram O’Donnell’s Weight Loss TransformationIn the last couple of years, O’Donnell has been open about her 50-pound weight loss as a result of using Mounjaro. She went into more detail in a March 2025 TikTok video, sharing why she had started taking the medication. She also noted that, in addition to starting the medication to deal with her health issues, she had been spending more time cooking for her child, Clay.
“I’ve lost more weight. I am on Mounjaro for my diabetes, and one of the side effects is you lose weight,” she explained. “But it’s also because I had a chef for over two years in Los Angeles and I don’t have a chef now. It’s me cooking for Clay and me.”

'The Sound of Music' Actress Shares Emotional Photo 60 Years After the Classic Film
Angela Cartwright recently experienced a moment few actors ever get to have. Six decades after portraying Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music, she watched her granddaughter bring the beloved character to life on stage.
"This weekend, I watched my granddaughter, Addie, perform as Brigitta in her theater production of 'The Sound of Music.' It was an emotional moment, thinking back 60 years to when I played Brigitta in the film," Cartwright captioned an Instagram post on July 21.
"To sit in the audience and watch a new generation bring this beautiful story to life was truly special. And for my grand daughter to play Brigitta, well some moments remind you just how timeless a story—and the memories it creates—can be," she added.
Many fans were delighted to see the full circle moment and took to the comments section to react.
"What an incredibly special blessing for you. Warms my heart just reading about it," one fan wrote.
"Oh how fabulous is that. How proud you must be and how nostalgic for you," someone else said.
Cartwright got her start in the 1956 film Somebody Up There Likes Me. She went on to star in shows like Whirlybirds and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour before landing a recurring role in The Danny Thomas Show from 1957 to 1964. Marvel Legend Chadwick Boseman's Brothers Are Fighting His Widow Over Mismanagement of Estate 6 Years After His Death
On July 17, 2026, late Marvel actor Chadwick Boseman's brothers filed a petition to have his widow removed as administrator of his estate. In documents obtained by TMZ, they allege that she has been mismanaging Boseman's estate.
Kevin and Derrick Boseman laid out many reasons in the court filing for why they believe Boseman's wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, should be removed. They are also asking that attorney Jason Rubin be appointed instead.
Boseman died on August 28, 2020, after battling colon cancer for several years. It was revealed that he had married Ledward six days before his death. However, since the Black Panther star died without a will, the courts eventually decided that his widow would control 50% of his estate, and his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, would control the other 50%.
Brothers Allege Mismanagement of Boseman's EstateThe Boseman brothers allege that Ledward never distributed the estate's assets to his parents, but has continued to control it herself. They claim that she still hasn't distributed money from his bank accounts, residual payments, or unclaimed property. They also say that there's a $40,000 long-term care insurance policy that also needs to be transferred to Carolyn. According to PEOPLE, it's all part of a "Final Order" issued by the court in 2022, demanding Ledward distribute the assets.
Ledward's "lack of transparency creates the appearance that she is concealing assets from Decedent’s family and from the Court," the petition alleges. It also says that they have asked Ledward many times to distribute the money to his parents. Now, they want her held in contempt and made to disclose the estate's more-than $3 million in assets within 30 days.
Boseman and Ledward's Relationship TimelineBoseman and Ledward were first linked in 2015. In 2019, they got engaged after he proposed.
"We did a little staycation and we were sitting in front of the fireplace and I wanted to turn a movie on," she told Craig Melvin on the Today show. "And I’m feeling under the blanket for the remote and he was like, ‘Right here,’ and he puts the ring box in my hand, so I pull out my hand and I’m holding this ring box."
This 2-Minute Move Is One of the Best Things You Can Do for Your Core, Instructors Say
When it comes to self-care and supporting your overall well-being, there are several maintenance steps you should have in place. For instance, good oral care means scheduling routine dentist cleanings and flossing and brushing at home, while regular check-ups with your physician are essential to stay on top of your health. Living a healthy lifestyle, including consuming a nutritious diet and exercising regularly, can also help lower your risk of chronic conditions while keeping your muscles, bones and joints strong. These habits support an active, independent life—hopefully, well into your golden years.
The key is finding exercises you’re likely to stick with in the long haul. If carving out time to work out is difficult, learning a few productive moves you can do at home can make all the difference in the world. After all, any bit of exercise is better than none at all.
To help you get started, we spoke with Pilates instructors who share the one move you should do every day—and there’s no equipment required. All you need is a little bit of time and the desire to spend that time on yourself.
“Pilates is one of the most well-rounded forms of exercise because it combines strength, mobility, flexibility, balance and breath into every movement. Instead of isolating one muscle group, it trains the body to move as one connected system. This translates directly into everyday life by improving posture, reducing aches and pains, increasing stability and making daily activities like bending, lifting, reaching and walking feel easier and more efficient,” explains Nicolle Lopez-Lamberty, a certified Pilates instructor specializing in strength, mobility and core stability and founder of NuPilates Fitness.

The Best 2-Minute Move for Core Strength, According to Fitness ExpertsPilates instructors agree that the Hundred is an excellent no-equipment move to do daily. While most fitness enthusiasts consider the Hundred a solid core workout, Lyndsey Meade, founder of BODY Hot Pilates and certified Pilates instructor, says it’s a breathing workout first and foremost.
You may be surprised to learn that many of us don’t know how to breathe in an efficient manner. Poor posture, stress and long hours being sedentary can result in shallow chest breathing instead of full, functional breaths, Meade explains.
“The Hundred teaches lateral breathing, a foundational Pilates breathing technique that encourages expansion through the rib cage while maintaining engagement through the core,” she tells Parade. “This breathing pattern helps activate the transverse abdominis, the deepest layer of the abdominal wall. It's one of the most important muscles for spinal support and stability, yet it's often difficult to access through traditional exercise.”
Connecting to your breath can be a total game-changer, helping you stand taller, move better and feel stronger.

How To Do the Hundred- Start by lying flat on your back with your legs extended.
- Place your arms by your sides.
- Lift your head, neck and shoulders off the mat, gazing toward your hips.
- Lift your legs to a 45-degree angle.
- Begin to pump your arms rhythmically up and down to coordinate with your breathing.
- Perform 100 counts or breath, or 10 cycles of 5-count inhales and 5-count exhales.
- As you breathe in, expand your rib cage; as you breathe out, draw your abs in toward the center of your body.
When the Hundred is performed properly, you should feel deep core engagement while keeping your breath steady and controlled. According to Meade, your shoulders should remain relaxed, your neck should feel supported, and your ribcage should expand laterally as you breathe in.

Common Mistakes To AvoidJust like any other Pilates exercise, there are certain mistakes to avoid. A big one is sacrificing form to make the movement more challenging. According to Lopez-Lamberty, this could be lowering your legs too far, causing your lower back to lift off the ground, or creating unnecessary tension in your shoulders and neck.
“Holding the breath, pumping the arms too aggressively, and forgetting to engage the deep abdominal muscles are also common mistakes. Remember, quality of movement is more important than the number of repetitions,” Lopez-Lamberty stresses.

What Makes the Hundred Well-Suited for Daily Practice? The Hundred blends core activation, endurance, breathing and body awareness in one exercise.
“While many movements focus on strength alone, The Hundred teaches people how to coordinate breath with movement while maintaining deep core engagement. It targets the transverse abdominis, rectus abdominis, obliques, pelvic floor, diaphragm and other deep stabilizing muscles that support the spine and pelvis,” Meade says.
It’s a seamless exercise to add to your daily routine because it doesn’t require fancy equipment and it can be adjusted for basically any fitness level.
The Benefits of Performing This Exercise ConsistentlyCore training isn’t just about sculpting a six-pack. A strong, capable core supports essentially every movement you do. It supports spinal stability, improves balance, promotes better posture and helps your body move more efficiently.
“The Hundred also teaches something many workouts overlook: how to breathe under load. Learning to maintain deep core engagement while breathing fully is a skill that carries over into everyday life, workouts and even stress management,” Meade explains.
The Hundred embodies many of the foundational principles of Pilates, making it a stellar exercise to include in your daily routine.

Beloved Sports Reporter Reveals Private Cancer Battle
Longtime sports reporter Curt Sandoval revealed he's been quietly battling cancer since May.
"What a cancer diagnosis taught me. I always thought I had pretty good perspective on life. Then God tapped me on the shoulder around 1 May. My lymphoma has returned," the ABC7 icon shared via social media on Wednesday, July 22. "I’ve been off a lot this summer, enjoying vacation time and doing treatments."
Sandoval went on to share that the purpose of his announcement was to remind fans to "live day by day."
"We all need to put pride down and hug and tell every person you love, they are important in your life! The past is only something to learn from - not to live in," he wrote. "The loved ones in my inner circle have been amazing!!! Your calls and supporting words carried me more than you know!!!"
View this post on InstagramSandoval — who joined ABC7 in 1999 — explained that his diagnosis was eye-opening and has forced him to slow down, prioritize sleep and maintain a healthy diet.
"Yes, I have lymphoma. I’m so grateful mine is still a slow-growing cancer. But that tap on the shoulder is real!!" he wrote."I’ll be back to work tomorrow. My ABC 7 family- has been nothing short of amazing, incredible and supportive!!! I rang the bell to put radiation in the rearview mirror!!! Oscar-Winning Film, With a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, Gets Named the 'Most Thrilling' Movie Since 2000
One of the best ways for a film to captivate and enthrall its audience is to have plenty of thrills. On July 22, Collider shared a ranking of the "6 most thrilling movies released since 2000," which highlighted a few films that are brimming with heart-pounding scenes.
Movies like 2008'sThe Dark Knight, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 from 2003, and Whiplash, released in 2014, were spotlighted on Collider's list. The publication gave the title of the "most thrilling" film from the 21st century to 2019's Parasite, which received the Academy Award for Best Picture. The publication complimented Bong Joon Ho's stylish work as the film's director and his and Han Jin-won's powerful script, focusing on classism.
In a 2020 interview with Alamo Drafthouse, Joon Ho shared that he intended Parasite, which holds a score of 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, to reflect the issues of class discrimination within South Korea.
"When directing the movie, I tried to express a sentiment specific to the Korean culture. And I thought that it was full of Koreanness if seen from an outsider's perspective," said the filmmaker during the interview.
He said, however, that he soon realized how universal classism is in all capitalist countries.
"But upon screening the film after completion, all the responses from different audiences were pretty much the same, which made me realize that the topic was, in fact, universal. Essentially, we all live in the same country, called capitalism, which may explain the universality of their responses," said Joon Ho.
He also clarified that he "didn't set out to deal with the theme of class struggle" when making Parasite or his other films, like Snowpiercer (2013).
"When we look around, however, we can identify the poor and the rich, and this disparity can be seen everywhere. In depicting their unique stories and situations, the topic emerged originally. It's not that I wanted to make a propaganda movie, nor were political themes my starting point," said the Academy Award-winning director.
