Wed, 07/22/2026 - 3:00pm

There are three things guaranteed in the world today: Death, taxes, and Jeopardy! being on. Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people's trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. And so many of the greats to grace those podiums started by simply watching the show as it aired on weekdays, as millions have done for over half a century.

Here's a spoiler-filled recap of who won Jeopardy! today, plus the answer to Final Jeopardy.

Final Jeopardy today was in the category "MUSICAL PIECES"

The clue: "Words later applied to this 1867 piece include 'Far from the Black Forest you hurry to the sea.'"

The answer: What is the The Blue Danube?"

Despite overtaking the game just the day prior, Biermann didn’t stand a chance next to Zach’s commanding lead at the end of DJ. He pulled in $36,000 compared to her $14,400, while Canterbury trailed behind with $2,400.

None of the contestants got the FJ correct, as Biermann wagered everything, got it wrong, and dropped down to the third-place spot with a symbolic $1. Canterbury wagered nothing, used her answer to write “Happy annive,” and took home the second-place spot. Meanwhile, Zach wagered nothing, got it wrong, and ended as the new champion with $36,000.

Zach will be back on Thursday for attempt number 2.

This 1991 Classic Rock Concert Made History — and Now, It's Heading to Theaters

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 2:47pm

Time to pull out those tie-dye shirts... because the Dead are rising once again.

Thirty-five years ago, Jerry Garcia and his bandmates jammed all night long at Giants Stadium in San Francisco — a performance that would become one of the Grateful Dead's most historic of all its endless shows.

And now, as part of the beloved annual tradition known as the "Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies," the famous June 17, 1991 concert will be screened in theaters next month.

The first date of showings, August 8, falls during “The Days Between,” the annual period honoring Garcia from August 1 (his birthdate) to August 9 (his passing) — as Deadheads well know. Night 2 of screenings across the world will be August 10.

On Wednesday, July 22, the Grateful Dead's official YouTube account dropped a trailer for the upcoming cinematic event. Check it out below.

Fans have since flooded the YouTube upload's comments section to show their support and excitement. "I was there. Gonna do this again!" wrote one user, while another person commented, "Bought my ticket already :))."

"The Summer Tour of 1991 was widely considered one of the best of the 1990s, and the June 17, 1991 show at Giants Stadium was nearly universally acclaimed as the best of the tour. From the 'Eyes of the World' opener to the sixpack of 'Dark Star' teases woven throughout the night, the one show from 1991 whose reputation grew as time went on was this concert,” said Grateful Dead legacy manager and archivist David Lemieux. "Because it's one of only two shows captured on 48-track analog tape, the audio quality is spectacular. Hearing this mix in a theater with fellow fans is going to be transportive, and we're thrilled to sweeten the pot with an exclusive look at 'Shakedown Street' from the upcoming '85 Merriweather release."

Tickets for the “Meet-Up At The Movies” are now on sale here.

White House Revives Richard Gere's Most Notorious Rumor After He Slams Trump

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 2:25pm

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung recently took to X, defending Donald Trump and recirculating a bizarre decades-old rumor about actor Richard Gere.

Confused? It seems like everyone else is too. The Washington, D.C., insider couldn’t seem to get past an interview Gere did with theAP last month, in which the actor criticized the President, saying, “USAID was probably the most pure thing America did up to that moment. It was a giveaway program to needy people. Whether it was health, education, it was women’s issues, it was all kinds of stuff. Big things, small things. What they did with HIV/AIDS saved tens of millions of lives. Continuing. He stopped that day one.”

Gere added, “It was insane
He wouldn’t even know what it stands for, USAID. He has idiots around him who have the same ignorance about it. Are we ashamed of it? Yes. That was the good part of us. He keeps saying we’re the wealthiest, most powerful country in ther world. What do you do if you’re the wealthiest, most powerful? You help people. “

Richard Gere: “USAID was probably the most pure thing America did up to that moment. It was a giveaway program to needy people. He stopped that day one. It was insane. He wouldn’t even know what it stands for, USAID. He has idiots around him who have the same ignorance about it” pic.twitter.com/6N6GF3fuki

— Marco Foster (@MarcoFoster_) July 19, 2026

Cheung was clearly not thrilled about the interview. And when this particular clip (about USAID) was reposted online, he decided to fire back in a
well, interesting way.

Instead of directly addressing Gere’s concerns, Cheung took a much more salacious approach. The Coms Director shared on X, “Sorry, not going to listen to a guy that may have put a gerbil up his a**.”

Of course, Cheung is referring to the widely debunked rumor that surfaced sometime in the 1980s about Gere being rushed to the ER with a gerbil stuck in a, let’s just say, odd area.

Now considered an urban legend, the story made tabloid headlines in the pre-social-media days.

Even though it is completely false, the gerbil-rectum tale periodically resurfaced, putting Gere’s name in the spotlight again and again. Each time, the myth has been debunked, and the story eventually went away. But it looks like the Trump insider is bringing it back in some sort of strange clapback against the actor.

Cue the critics. It’s no surprise that Cheung’s post incited a wave of criticism on X. Comments ranged from “You’re disgusting. I can’t believe how low our country has gotten” to “Ah yes, nothing like responding to a legitimate criticism of US policy with a 1980s rumor to really show em, Steven. That’s why we pay you the big bucks.”

1963 Rock Classic, Reimagined by a 15-Year-Old, Became a Hit Twice

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 2:12pm

In 1963, The Beach Boys made “Surfin’ U.S.A.” a surf-rock classic. Fourteen years later, a teen idol revived the hit and gave it a second life on the charts.

Leif Garrett recorded a cover of “Surfin’ U.S.A.” for his 1977 debut album and turned it into a hit again for the second time in 14 years.

“Surfin’ USA” was one of several cover songs Garrett recorded on his self-titled album. The young star was just 15 when he recorded his version of the Beach Boys hit as well as the tracks “California Girls,” “Runaround Sue,”  “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” and more.

Garrett’s “Surfin’ U.S.A.” reworked the surf-rock classic with a polished pop sound, trading the Beach Boys' signature layered harmonies for a smoother style that introduced the song to a new generation of fans.

While the Beach Boys’ original was a bigger hit, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963, Garrett made the song a teenybopper favorite when it went to No. 20 on Billboard in the fall of 1977.

“Surfin’ U.S.A.'s" melody is credited to Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Sixteen,” while Beach Boys band member Brian Wilson penned new lyrics celebrating surf culture.

Wilson once told The Guardian that he considered the song to be the Beach Boys’ breakthrough. “It came out on a Los Angeles label and was a hit straight away,” he said.

Garrett's path to the song was completely different from the Beach Boys’. The young singer was told by his management which songs to record and had little say creatively.

In an interview with Icon vs. Icon, Garrett admitted, “Musically, I wasn’t so much of a trendsetter, but that was only because management didn’t allow me to have much say in the song choices. ... I think that if I would have had a little more control, my career may have had a little more longevity.”

Garrett certainly had the image for a song like “Surfin’ U.S.A.”  He once told The Washington Post that he was marketed as a California heartthrob at the height of his teen stardom.

“I was the full California image of blond, somewhat androgynous looking pretty boy, full-on skateboarder and surfer actually living that lifestyle,” he shared.

More than 60 years after its original release, “Surfin’ U.S.A.” remains a timeless summertime anthem that celebrates carefree days on the beach for generations of fans.

Could AI Actor Tilly Norwood Ever Win One of Cinema's Highest Honors?

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 2:00pm

Tilly Norwood didn’t become a headline-news actress through impeccable comedic timing or show-stopping performances, but by being the first mainstream AI “actor.”

In an ever-changing world, artificial intelligence has become increasingly relevant. This has pushed those high up in the entertainment industry to change rules and regulations.

The British Academy recently announced that Tilly Norwood would not be eligible for a BAFTA Film Award, one of the highest honors an actor can receive.

“[Artificial intelligence] is obviously evolving at a very fast pace,” executive director of awards and content at BAFTA, EmmaBaehr, told The Hollywood Reporterduring a recent media briefing.

She continued: “We’re aware that AI and digital tools are used in some areas more than others. But we felt that it was very important that we expanded that and acknowledged that if anything comes up, we have the right to request further information because ultimately BAFTA is about recognizing human achievement.”

BAFTA emphasized its awards are “presented annually to recognise, honour and reward individuals for outstanding human achievement in originating, shaping and realising the final artistic outcome, regardless of the tools used to bring this work to life.”

The British Academy announced it now reserves the right to request information about “the extent of human creative involvement” and the use of AI for projects submitted for award consideration.

THR inquired about the extent of the limitations on AI. They used the example of  AdrienBrody’s performance in The Brutalist, which earned him a BAFTA and an Academy Award. It is said that the filmmakers used AI to improve his Hungarian accent.

“[The updates] would rule out an AI actor. It’s going to be a human that collects a BAFTA. We’re never going to allow an AI actor [to win a BAFTA],” Baehr explained. “But we never really comment on what’s happened in the past because the rules are the rules for that year, and every year it changes. So Adrien Brody was eligible; he won. We celebrated that win, and that was within that year in that rulebook. So, as we said, AI is moving so fast, but we have to go back to what we’ve already said about human creativity, and that is the essence of it. We want to celebrate that.”

Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff Speaks Out After Another Home Invasion in the Area

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:52pm

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred about 30 miles from Nancy Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital that there is "nothing to indicate the cases are related," despite some similarities.

Law enforcement arrived at a home after a call came in about an assault. The report indicates that an attack occurred in the middle of the night, just before 3 a.m. local time.

"An unknown male suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door, physically and sexually assaulted the female victim and prior to fleeing the scene, attempted to burglarize the home. The investigation is ongoing," reads an official media release that was sent to Parade by the department.

Per the release, the suspect is described as either Hispanic or White, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. Also of note, the suspect is believe to have a gray beard.

Residents in the area are asked to check their home security footage and report anything suspicious by dialing 911 of 88-CRIME.

Meanwhile, Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that at least one suspect broke into her home in the overnight hours and abducted her. The FBI, who has been working in tandem with Pima County, was able to obtain footage of a masked individual on Guthrie's front stoop the night she went missing. However, the person in the videos has not been identified and a suspect has not been named.

Anyone with information about the Guthrie case is asked to call Tucson’s 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Ryan Reynolds Reveals the Heartfelt References to John Candy in Each 'Deadpool' Movie: 'I've Had a Lifelong Obsession with Him'

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:40pm

Ryan Reynolds will be the first person to tell you just how deeply John Candy means to his body of work.

To that end, the famed Marvel actor has included references to the late Canadian comedian in many of his most prominent movies, including all three Deadpool films.

“I’ve always found something weirdly familiar with him, and he shows up in all of my work,” Reynolds said back in 2025 while speaking about the new documentary he helped produce, John Candy: I Like Me (via People).

In a separate interview with David Letterman on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Reynolds explained further about his references to Candy in each of his movies, as well as the profound impact the comedian had on his approach to comedic subject material.

“Growing up, I had a real obsession, quite genuine, with John Candy,” Reynolds said. “And I still do.”

Illustrating that point to a T, Reynolds showed the character of Deadpool reading the same book that Candy's character reads in Planes, Trains and Automoblies.

“There’s a book (Candy) is reading in Planes, Trains and Automobiles called The Canadian Mounted,” Reynolds explained. “And it’s supposed to be this nonfiction, sort of soft porn, basically. Sort of trash. Sub-Danielle Steele. Like, we’re talking nasty.”

“I’m carrying it under my arm in a number of scenes,” the actor continued. “I don’t think it’s ever actually seen on camera.” Interestingly, the book did appear on screen in both Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine.

Likewise, Deadpool 2 features a brief scene where Wade Wilson quotes Candy's famous "I like me" scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles, while Deadpool 3 features a mug with the same phrase.

“It’s just one of those little things,” Reynolds said to Letterman. “You try to never forget those people who have helped grow you where you are.”

Paul Wesley Reveals Surprising Connection to 'Jersey Shore' Star Before 'The Vampire Diaries'

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:27pm

Jersey Shoreholds some fond yet chaotic memories for fans, withPaul Wesley revealing he used to "hang out" with a member of the cast when he was younger, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

Wesley made a name for himself as a teen heartthrob in the 2000s when playing the leading role of Stefan Salvatore in the CW's The Vampire Diaries. The beloved vampire series, based on the books of the same name, propelled the cast into stardom amid the pop-cultural phenomenon of Twilight.

Before sporting fangs and drinking blood, Wesley was all about "gym, tan, laundry," as he revealed on an episode of Call Her Daddy that he ran in the same friend circle as The Situation. The actor grew up 20 minutes away from the beach at a house in Belmar, NJ.

Looking back at his younger years on the shore, he comically says it was "pathetic" and wore tank tops all the time.

“Of course I got a spray tan,” he said. “I shouldn’t be admitting this but, I’m telling you, when I was 17 and we used to — it was all about how big our muscles are. I was 40 pounds heavier. It was all about muscles and being tan and making sure you have no chest hair," he said.

Unknown to the actor, he had been hanging out among friends who knew the Jersey Shore star. By the time he started working on The Vampire Diaries and the MTV series blew up, Wesley learned of the surprise connection.

“I remember I was in my 20s and I was doing something for The Vampire Diaries. Somehow, they’re like, ‘The cast of the Jersey Shore is here,'" he explained. "The guy who plays The Situation. ... That guy, he comes up to me, and he’s like, ‘Hey Paul.’ I was like, ‘Hey.’ He’s like, ‘We used to hang out in the Jersey Shore.’”

Wesley would later confirm through friends that he and Mike 'The Situation' had a core group of people in common that they would hang out with. Without Wesley having ever realized it, the actor says he may as well have crossed paths with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. He admits that before becoming the teen vampire heartthrob, he was a "part of the Jersey Shore. Fist-bumping," and got "into fist fights all the time" with his friends.

We Asked 3 Oncologists What They Never Order at Restaurants and They All Said the Same Thing

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:25pm

There’s a reason you never see doctors smoking. According to an article published in JAMA, less than 2% of healthcare workers use tobacco. It’s because they see firsthand how much it can negatively impact the body, including drastically increasing the risk of cancer.

Similarly, oncologists regularly see how diet and lifestyle habits can influence cancer risk, which in turn impacts their own diet and lifestyle habits. Dr. Nathan Handley, MD, the director of the Integrative Cancer Recovery Program at Jefferson Health’s Marcus Institute of Integrative Health, says that when it comes to cancer prevention, diet certainly plays a role.

Related: 'I'm an Oncologist—This Is the Cooking Oil I Always Choose'

“Recent American Cancer Society data suggest that diet alone accounts for about 4% of U.S. cancer cases. This isn't a huge number, but the reason we often emphasize diet so much is that diet goes hand in hand with a lot of other major modifiable risk factors that cluster together, including body weight, alcohol and inactivity. This combination accounts for about one-fifth of all cancers. Globally, 30 to 50% of cancers are linked to modifiable lifestyle and environmental factors,” Dr. Handley says.

He adds that adults who adhere most closely to American Cancer Society guidelines on diet and physical activity have a 10 to 20% lower risk of a cancer diagnosis and a 24 to 30% lower risk of cancer death. That’s pretty powerful!

Similarly to how the vast majority of doctors don’t smoke, there is one specific food they almost always pass up on because it can increase the risk of cancer in several ways.

General Tips for Lowering Your Risk of Cancer Through What You Eat

Parade talked to three oncologists about the connection between diet and cancer risk, and while all three said that diet does play a role in cancer prevention, they also emphasized that it’s 100% okay to still eat the foods you love, even if they have no nutrient value.

“Rather than worrying about one food or one meal, I encourage people to focus on healthy eating patterns they can maintain over time,” says Dr. Sudarsan Vishnu Kollimuttathuillam, MD, an oncologist at City of Hope Orange County in Irvine, California.

After all, food isn’t just about nutrients. It’s about comfort, joy and community—all of which also play a role in cancer prevention and general well-being.

Related: The 1 Type of Food Oncology Dietitians Are Begging People To Eat More of in 2026

While no singular food or meal will give you cancer, all three oncologists say it is important to consider your overall diet. “While not the only factor that contributes to cancer risk, a poor diet can absolutely increase the risk of certain cancers. Processed foods, increased alcohol consumption and diets high in red meats and low in fruits, vegetables and fiber can put someone at higher risk,” says Dr. Dillon Cason, MD, a hematologist oncologist at Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, part of Jefferson Health.

If you want to lower your risk of cancer through what you eat, Dr. Handley recommends eating mostly plants and maintaining a healthy weight. “Practically speaking, this includes emphasizing vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans and nuts,” he says. In terms of how to get your protein, plant-based proteins, poultry and fish are better options than red meat and processed meats, like deli meat and bacon.

Again, this doesn’t mean you can never enjoy a slice of pepperoni pizza. The goal is to enjoy nutrient-dense, minimally processed foods the majority of the time and save nutrient-void or ultra-processed foods for special occasions.

“You don't have to eat perfectly to improve your health. Small, sustainable changes are much more effective than restrictive diets, and they're much easier to maintain over the long term,” Dr. Kollimuttathuillam says.

The One Food Oncologists Avoid When Eating Out

When going out to eat, there’s one type of food that the oncologists we talked to skip over completely: fried food. All three oncologists say that fried food increases the risk of cancer in several ways.

“Research shows that regularly eating deep-fried foods is associated with a higher risk of several cancers, although no single factor fully explains that relationship,” says Dr. Kollimuttathuillam. He explains that deep frying exposes foods to very high temperatures, which can produce compounds such as acrylamide and other chemicals that researchers continue to study for their potential role in cancer risk.

Dr. Handley explains that cooking meat at very high heat, like frying, grilling or charring, creates compounds called heterocyclic aromatic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) that damage DNA and have been shown to cause cancer in animal studies. He adds that reusing oil at high temperatures produces more of them.

Another way that fried food can increase the risk of cancer is because it can contribute to obesity, which is a known risk factor for cancer, when eaten regularly. “There is strong evidence that obesity increases the risk of many types of cancer. I believe it is one of the major reasons we are seeing higher incidences of cancer in many age groups, especially people under 40. Obesity puts the body in a state of chronic inflammation, which causes the release of inflammatory markers that can allow abnormal cells to have a better chance to survive and grow,” Dr. Cason says.

Even though foods like French fries, fried calamari and fried chicken can increase the risk of cancer when eaten regularly, all three oncologists say that it’s okay to enjoy foods like these every once in a while. “It's important to keep this in perspective. I don't want people to feel anxious about enjoying a favorite fried food once in a while. What matters most isn't one meal; it's what you eat most of the time. Choosing healthier foods more often is one of the best ways to support your long-term health,” Dr. Kollimuttathuillam says.

What To Eat Instead

Okay, so chances are that if you’re sharing a meal with an oncologist, they’re not going to want to split an order of fries with you. What foods on the menu do they gravitate toward instead? All three that we talked to say that they favor entrees with lean proteins and lots of veggies.

Some examples of this include a salad with chicken or salmon, tofu or lentil curries, grilled fish with roasted vegetables, fajita plates, burrito bowls, poke bowls and sushi.

Dr. Hadley explains that when foods are baked, steamed, poached or stewed, it doesn’t lead to the development of the cancer-causing chemicals that are produced during deep frying. “Baking and roasting at moderate temperatures are reasonable. The key is to avoid prolonged exposure of foods, especially meats, to very high temperatures and direct flame. If grilling, it is better to use lower heat, marinate meats beforehand and avoid charring,” he says.

Remember, preventing cancer doesn’t mean never enjoying fried food. “I am a strong believer in moderation. Even with my cancer patients, I want them to eat and drink the things they love, but responsibly. We all know you can do all of the right things in life and still get a bad hand,” Dr. Cason says.

As long as you’re eating fried foods only occasionally and not regularly, it’s nothing to lose sleep over.

Zachary Levi Is Playing the Role John Wayne Bet His Own Money On

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:19pm

Some film roles carry weight regardless of screen time. When Angel Studios brings its version of Angel and the Badman to theaters on October 9, Zachary Levi will be stepping into a character John Wayne cared enough about to finance himself, in a film the Wayne family has already circled back to once before.

The 1947 original was the first picture Wayne both produced and starred in, a departure at a moment when he was still consolidating his standing in the genre. He played Quirt Evans, a gunfighter who collapses near a Quaker family's land and is nursed back to health by their daughter, Penelope, played by Gail Russell. Harry Carey appeared as a marshal content to wait and see which way Evans would turn. Critics at the time noted the film's unusual softness for a Wayne vehicle, built more on persuasion than on gunfire.

That premise is intact in the new version. Julio Quintana directs, with Levi as Evans, Tommy Lee Jones and Neal McDonough alongside him. The studio's synopsis describes an outlaw who arrives expecting to die and is offered something else instead, before a marshal and an outlaw gang force the question of what he has actually become.

McDonough, working with Angel Studios for the third time, called the production a career highlight and singled out Quintana's direction. The film arrived as part of a five-picture expansion to the studio's 2026 slate.

What most viewers will not know is that this is the second remake, not the first. In 2009, the Hallmark Channel aired a television version directed by Terry Ingram, with Lou DiamondPhillips as Evans and Luke Perry as the rival gunman Laredo Stevens. Wayne's grandson Brendan Wayne appeared in a supporting role as Evans' sidekick. Reviews were middling, and the film has largely receded from view.

Brendan Wayne has since spoken about what he took from his grandfather's work. Discussing his role as the physical performer behind the helmet in The Mandalorian, he described learning stillness, and recalled John Ford's habit of telling Wayne that the less the director gave him, the better the picture would be. (We at Parade have covered Wayne's Mandalorian suit struggles in the past).

That is the specific challenge facing Levi, an actor known for range and volume in Shazam! and Chuck. The 1947 film asked audiences to watch a man reconsider himself with very little dialogue devoted to the process.

Wayne made 179 films across five decades, and Angel and the Badman rarely appears near the top of the lists. It remains the one he put his own name on the ownership line for, which says a lot.

2000 Horror Novel, Known for Its Unusual Format, Was Just Named the Most Intense Book of All Time

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:12pm

While some readers want to escape into a peaceful world, others prefer their books to be more on the unsettling side. Colliderrecently spotlighted some of the most stressful and terrifying novels ever published with a ranking of "the 10 most intense books of all time." The list, published on July 21, included novels like Stephen King's 2011 book 11/22/63, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, published in 1939, and Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian from 1985.

Collider put the 2000 horror novel The House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski at the ranking's top spot. The book, which is known for its unusual format, has a score of 4.09 out of 5 from 210,205 readers on Goodreads.

In a 2000 interview with Borders Vision, Danielewski shared the book's basic plot.

"The story is about a family that moves into a small house in Virginia where they discover that the inside is bigger than the outside by only a quarter of an inch. And yet, that discrepancy begins to threaten everything in their family, the relationship between the man and the woman, between the children, and between the children and the parents," said the author.

In addition, he said he was very purposeful with how he positioned words and sentences throughout the book's 709 pages.

"So in 15 minutes you can read 100 pages, and you'll feel it, you'll feel the density in it, of the book. It has a visceral effect on you," said Danielewski.

Danielewski also discussed the use of footnotes in The House of Leaves. He said that while some may feel somewhat intimidated by footnotes, which are often used in academic texts, he intended for those who picked up The House of Leaves to realize that they make the novel unique and more interesting.

"They suddenly realize, 'By God, wait a minute the book can be read in a different way. It can be read backwards, forwards, upside down.' It's a wonderful analog computer, if you will, and it has all sorts of possibilities," said Danielewski during the 2000 interview.

MacKenzie-Childs is beloved for its iconic checkered prints, found on everything from coffee cups to tea kettles and so much more. Many retailers are now offering dupes of the popular style, and World Market is no different. In fact, the store just dropped a chic new wood cutting board that looks strikingly similar to a popular MacKenzie-Childs style that costs five times more. Score!

Dark Brown and Natural Wood Checkered Trencher Cutting Board, $39.99 at World Market

World Market

Dark Brown and Natural Wood Checkered Trencher Cutting Board is giving major MacKenzie-Childs vibes for a fraction of the cost. Priced at just $39.99, it looks almost identical to the MacKenzie-Childs Checkered Cutting & Carving Board you can purchase at Williams Sonoma, but for $199.95.

World Market's version is a bit smaller, measuring 15.11 inches in length, 11.1 inches in width and .98 inches in height. Meanwhile, MacKenzie-Child's measures 13 inches in width, 17.5 inches in length and 1 inch in height. However, this isn't that large of a difference, all things considered.

Besides the difference in size, the two cutting boards are twinning. Both feature a dark brown and natural wood finish in a checkered pattern. While MacKenzie-Child's board has a slightly darker wood stain and the checks are a tad smaller, the look and feel is basically the same. Both the World Market and MC version of the cutting board also feature a juice trench.

While this World Market cutting board is a great addition to add to your kitchen for functional purposes such as meal prep, it's pretty enough to keep on display as well. You could also use it as a charcuterie board. It's a super versatile piece you'll be happy you grabbed.

If you want to get the MacKenzie-Childs look for a whole lot less, definitely consider picking up this charming wood cutting board from World Market. You can find it online or in select World Market stores.

Oasis' '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' Overtakes the Beatles in U.K.'s Music Charts

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 1:08pm

It's not very often that a contemporary musician manages to outsell the Beatles, but in a miraculous turn of events, Oasis has officially beaten out their musical idols on the U.K.'s list of the popular albums of all-time.

As per the outlet, Oasis has managed to outsell the Beatles with their second album, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, edging out the Beatles' classic 1967 album, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

The revised list specifically places Oasis' 1995 album on number three on the country's all-time best-sellers list, following Queen's 1981 Greatest Hits (number one) and 1992's Abba Gold (number two).

Meanwhile, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has dropped down to the number five spot, behind Adele's 2011 album, 21.

The full top 10 list of the U.K.'s best-selling albums include:

  1. Greatest Hits - Queen
  2. Gold - Abba
  3. (What's the Story) Morning Glory - Oasis
  4. 21 - Adele
  5. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
  6. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
  7. The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
  8. Thriller - Michael Jackson
  9. Legend - Bob Marley and The Wailers
  10. Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits

Released in 1995, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? received surprisingly mixed reviews from critics upon its initial debut, with many seeing the album as inferior to Oasis' first effort, 1994's Definitely Maybe.

"What's the Story [sounds] laboured and lazy. On this evidence, Oasis are a limited band ... they sound knackered," wrote Melody Maker.

Conversely, other critics felt the album a natural progression for the up and coming British band, with Rolling Stone sharing, "What's the Story is more than a natural progression, it's a bold leap forward that displays significant musical and personal growth."

Regardless, the album proved to be incredibly endearing among ordinary listeners, with the band's "Wonderwall" becoming one of the most iconic songs of the 1990s, as well as the band's most beloved song to this day.

Everyone Hates Angela — But as a 'Big Brother' Superfan, Here's Why I Love Her

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 12:47pm

On July 20, 2024, Angela Murray walked down the stairs into the kitchen of the Big Brother house. And straight into my reality TV obsessive heart.

To say the real estate agent has been one of the most polarizing houseguests in recent memory would be an understatement. After all, she established herself from the jump on Season 26 of the CBS summer series as an agent of chaos and conflict, someone not afraid to provide a cutting remark with the ferocity of slicing meat and cheese for a charcuterie board. And, only two years later, Big Brother fans find themselves living through deja vu, yet again watching Angela, despite her better judgment, kicking off another season with big moves and even bigger fights.

Given Angela's penchant for drama, she's earned a wide variety of reactions over the past two years. Some can't stand her, feeling she actively derails gameplay happening in the house and gets too personal with her digs. Others simply sit back and smile watching her shenanigans on the live feeds. I can say I proudly put myself in the latter, always eager to pull down the lap bar, throw my hands in the air, and get ready for the roller coaster.

Here are all the reasons why I love Angela Murray on Big Brother, and why you should, too!

Angela changed the game for older houseguests Angela showcased the power that older players can wild against their decades-younger competition

Courtesy of CBS

Big Brother prides itself on showcasing myriad personalities and backgrounds every summer. Admittedly, though, across 27 years and counting, there are some tropes that casting will fall into. We'll always get a handful of "bros," eager to treat the entire competition like one big at-home workout. On the opposite end of the high school spectrum, there's always a "quirky" guy or girl (or, if we get lucky, both) whose nerdom either endears them to the house or makes them an early pariah. And, for some reason, we always have to have an alumnus from Texas A&M involved.

But one of the biggest consistencies across casting are the "older" houseguests (that is to say, players in their late 40s and above). From a pure demographic perspective, Big Brother is, for all intents and purposes, a young man's game. Out of every year's cast, at least half of them are in their twenties. And the rest aren't that far out, usually topping out at around 35. The oldest houseguests in a Big Brother season typically max out in the 50s (including Angela herself). Suffice it to say, having the majority of your peers in the house be decades younger than you is not the most welcoming environment. Staggeringly, across 27 winners of Big Brother, a grand total of two were over the age of 30 at the time of their victory.

And so, we'll often see the older houseguests get largely disregarded in the competition. They don't have enough in common with their younger compatriots to be brought into the early alliances. They have difficulty keeping up physically, especially as competitions turn more intense towards the endgame. For the modern-day seasons in particular, we can look at people like Terrance Higgins, Cliffton "Will" Williams, and Kenney Kelley (the latter of whom actually played with Angela on Big Brother 26), who all did not wield much power during their time in the house. Even if we go old-school to some of the most iconic older houseguests in the show's history, Big Brother 10 standouts Jerry MacDonald and Renny Martyn are much more fondly remembered for their over-the-top character moments, rather than game-changing moves.

That is not the case with Angela. When she found herself at the top in the very first week of her Big Brother career, she took a massive shot, backdooring the biggest alpha male in the house. The vast majority of the time, the first HoH tends to go for an "easy" house target, in the hopes of establishing a majority alliance, then fading to the background to avoid getting thrown up on the block the next week. But Angela showcased from the jump that she was willing to play fearlessly, wielding a power in the very beginning that's usually quite unseen for houseguests in her age bracket. Angela is proof positive that age is just a number when it comes to being a mover and shaker in the Big Brother house.

Despite claiming she was a changed player, we're arguably getting an even bigger example of this in Big Brother 28. While she hasn't directly held power or even won a competition, Angela has consistently been pushing to go for the "big move." Most recently, she was able to successfully get Rick Devens to gun directly for Rome Seymour and his allies, fearing the influence the pickleball coach was amassing. And, true, Felicia Cannon and Cirie Fields showed in Season 25 that they were also able to be power players, birth date be damned. But Angela was able to showcase that while also bringing a penchant for drama. Which leads me to...

Angela reminds us why conflict is necessary in Big Brother Through her infamous "Crazy Eyes" rant against Matt Hardeman, Angela cemented herself as one of the most dramatic houseguests in 'Big Brother' history.

Now, just to clarify here, I don't necessarily mean all conflict is necessary for the show to succeed. After all, across 27 seasons, we have seen some truly abhorrent behavior, including racism, sexism, homophobia, inside the walls of the house. And, as much as the Big Brother community may look back on something like Season 19 with an "I can't believe that actually happened" lightness, that doesn't obfuscate the dread that exists watching an entire summer of unpleasant, ugly behavior.

But that's not to say that Big Brother should be a "kumbaya" type of show. First off, that's just antithetical to the concept of reality TV itself. Yes, on paper, the unscripted genre has existed for so long that there is nowadays more of an "it's just a game" attitude among contestants. But the entire conceit is that it's meant to be personal. These are games that require full immersion to succeed, giving your blood, sweat, and tears in an effort to make it one step further towards your goal. Especially in an environment like Big Brother, the game becomes your life, as there's the additional element of eating and sleeping alongside your competition, at least some of whom have been put on the show specifically to bristle with your personality.

In the first few days of Big Brother 26, true to her trope, Angela was regarded as the loving mother of the house. But that all changed the minute she quite literally woke up and chose violence. What followed is one of the most dramatic and instantly iconic moments in the show's history, as she chided people who had approached her for an alliance, decrying their performances to the quality of a low-budget movie. But the bluest part of her flame was reserved for Matt Hardeman, whom she went in on for allegedly having her name in his mouth. It was theatrical, scathing, and absolutely riveting, made even funnier by the fact that she continued to state throughout that she still wanted to have a great summer with the people she was calling out (only interrupting herself to throw a stray Matt's way, telling him, "Except you, don't talk to me").

But she wasn't done there! Perhaps riding the high of successfully getting "Crazy Eyes" out of the house, Angela was more than happy to lay her eyes on other people who irked her. Mere days later, she and Lisa Weintraub were getting into it, as she called the celebrity chef a "twit," and even mocked her walk. Yet again, while Angela came into her second season saying she was here to play a calmer game, in true time travel fashion, the past came back to haunt her. When she found out Jason De Puy had been fake crying to her and claiming she was his new mom in the house, she was ready to rain down fire and fury. And, at the end of this week's nomination ceremony, we are getting a proper poaching. Right now, we're eagerly counting down the hours until tonight's episode, where the cliffhanger of the fallout will resolve, and Angela will add yet another tally mark to the rivalries she's accrued across her Big Brother career.

It takes a rare houseguest to stand up and call somebody out when she doesn't like what they're doing or how they're playing. It takes a once-in-a-lifetime person to have the confidence to do it while dressed like a giant egg.

Angela created the blueprint for the "BB Block Buster" era Angela was the first-ever HoH to contend with the 'BB Block Buster' twist — and immediately showcased how it can be used to take out a big threat

Courtesy of CBS

Angela's first season happened to be the start of one of the biggest game changers in Big Brother history — and also one of its most celebrated. For the past three summers, the "BB Block Buster" (then known as the "AI Arena") permanently shook up the structure of the typical week. Rather than a traditional two nominees, the HoH puts three people up on the block, leaving them all vulnerable going into eviction night. Luckily, the trio has one last chance to compete for safety. Minutes before their fellow houseguests go to vote, they take part in another competition. The winner gets immediately removed from the block, with the two losers becoming the final nominees for the week.

I could pen an entire ode to how I think the Block Buster is one of the best twists in Big Brother history, second only to the Power of Veto. How it's brought necessary dramatics to arguably the most straightforward part of the week. How last-minute victories led to some of the most shocking blindsides in the show's history. Angela was the very first person to ever have to contend with the "Block Buster" as HoH. And she came out of the gate strong.

To put it bluntly, men like Matt Hardeman are typically positioned to do well in Big Brother. Between their early positioning, charisma, and competition prowess, they often evade being early targets. The previous summer, we had seen that happen to one of its biggest extremes, as Jag Bains and Matt Klotz ran the table in the latter half of Season 25, taking a grip of the game that they never relinquished until the Final 2 chairs.

Perhaps that's what Angela had in mind when she decided to both call out Matt publicly and follow it up with putting him on the block. And, with him now vulnerable for eviction, talks began to stir in the house about whether they want to give him the leverage to succeed in a way many like him have before. Even so, the talk was mere whispers. There was the fear of the unknown that was the eviction night competition, and whether it would be favored for Matt, by far the most athletic out of the three nominees.

Fortunately, the players and fans alike quickly realized that the Block Buster competitions are much more equitable than expected. They reward those with good observation, perfect touch, and puzzle skills, rather than simply the strongest and fastest. So, despite the expectations, Matt lost and remained on the block. And the majority of the house decided that moment was the time to strike.

While Big Brother 26 would provide much bigger power moves from the Block Buster results, it set an important precedent from the jump. The young, athletic types were no longer effectively immune for the early part of the game. In fact, if you were looking to take care of one before they became a threat, the first week may now be the best time to do it. I think it's no coincidence that the past two seasons have also seen the first HoH nominate a "bro" in Zae Fredrickson and Yash Patel. Angela was able to showcase how much power the HoH can hold in the Block Buster era, and how it can be used to create relatively unconventional early boots.

Angela Murray is "expect the unexpected" Whether starting a rivalry, turning on her allies, or chewing the scenery dressed as a giant egg, Angela knows how to constantly keep 'Big Brother' fans guessing

Courtesy of CBS

"You want good TV?" Big Brother Canada Season 2 contestant Sabrina Abbate asked rhetorically as part of a post-nominations meltdown. "Does everybody want good f—king TV?!"

And my answer is a resounding yes!

Of course, you may quibble with whether or not you like the shenanigans Angela has brought to our screens going on two seasons of Big Brother. But you cannot argue that she has given us plenty to talk about. Again, she is definitively one of the most-dsucssed houseguests of the modern era of the show, and may stack up there with some of the biggest personalities Big Brother has ever offered. Whether you go onto Twitter/X, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or just ask the biggest superfans in your inner circle, they are all going to have an opinion about Angela one way or the other.

And that's because she's been the source of some of the most unbelievable situations in the show's history. Either watching the episodes or the 24/7 live feeds, getting to see what Angela does sometimes is truly unbelievable. What do you mean she started the morning by dramatically slow-clapping, then launching into a tirade directed towards one person in the first week of the game? What do you mean she created a one-sided grudge against someone for eating her HoH food, grousing about her simultaneous anger and despair while lying on the floor of the Diary Room in a pose straight out of a Calvin Klein ad? What do you mean she decided to hijack a nominations ceremony and call an impromptu house meeting to air out her dirty laundry with a two-time RuPaul's Drag Race contestant, all while — I must repeat for emphasis — dressed as an egg detective?

Look, I don't ask much when it comes to my enjoyment of reality TV. Yes, it's always nice to see mind-bending, next-level gameplay. I love watching unconventional friendships develop, and for those to even occasionally turn romantic. But, at the end of the day, I'll get the most enjoyment out of someone if they are simultaneously showcasing their willingness to play, displaying their larger-than-life personality, and making some incredible TV moments. Luckily for me, I get all three, contained within a 52-year-old grandma from Utah. And hopefully I will continue to do so not only for the rest of this summer, but for many seasons — and shows — thereafter.

Mount walked onto the stage and greeted Behar's co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines, as the crowd cheered. But when he got to Behar, she embraced him and went in for a kiss on the cheek. She then puckered her lips, and when Mount leaned in, wrapped her arm around him and pulled him in for a lengthier kiss, EW continued. Mount was left with Behar's lipstick on his face.

Behar and Mount's Previous Encounters

After the kiss, Sunny Hostin said, “This year marks the... are you okay?” wondering if Behar needed to collect herself. Behar responded by saying, “I need a little bit of a touch-up. Last time he was here, he brought me flowers for my birthday, and it’s never been the same between us.”

Mount replied, “I got married, so...” which had Behar saying, “That’s what I mean!”

Mount married his longtime girlfriend, Darah Trang, in 2018.

Mount plays Captain Christopher Pike on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Check out the trailer for season 4 of the series, which debuts Thursday on Paramount+.

Behar Has Navigated Health Problems

Earlier this month, Behar admitted on The View that she's been navigating health problems that include dizzy spells.

“I got acupuncture because I’m dizzy,” she shared, PEOPLE reported. “I walk, and I’m dizzy. Has anybody noticed that I walk like I’m drunk? I’m not drinking, I don’t drink.”

Behar joked that "Between the Botox, the Ozempic, and the acupuncture, I’m more full of needles than a drug addict.”

However, the star also made it clear that she needs to keep an eye on the behavior.

“Well, you know, I fall a lot. The main thing, just to talk seriously, when Bob Saget fell, he died. If you hit your head and you feel dizzy or you have blurred vision or you feel like you want to go to sleep, go to the doctor because that will kill you,” she said. “But I’ve fallen a lot. I fall all the time. I’m a klutz! But this chair, this chair was like the exorcist. It was spring!”

The Best After-School Snacks From Your Childhood, Ranked By Pure Nostalgia

Wed, 07/22/2026 - 12:37pm

Growing up, the best part of the day was always coming home after a long day at school and heading straight to the kitchen to grab one of your favorite snacks. It was something you looked forward to all day, especially during those last few slow-moving classes when your mind would wander to whatever treat was waiting for you at home. The moment you walked through the door, you would drop your bag without hesitation and rush to the kitchen, eager and hungry.

In most cases, the timing felt perfect, almost like everything was planned just right, giving you the chance to settle in and catch your favorite after-school show. There was something comforting about that routine, a simple but meaningful pause between the responsibilities of school and the rest of the evening. The familiar taste of your favorite snack, combined with the sound of the TV and the feeling of finally being able to relax, created a sense of peace that made even the longest school days worth it. Those small moments became some of the most memorable parts of growing up, and why those after-school snacks have lingered in our memories long into adulthood.

Here, we've rounded up some of our favorite after-school snacks from childhood and ranked them based on pure nostalgia. Our afternoons may look pretty different these days, but our memories of these after-school snacks still remain. See if your favorite made our list.

Best After-School Snacks From Your Childhood, Ranked

From least to most nostalgic, these are the after-school snacks of our childhood we think about the most—and many of them are still available today.

10. Bologna

Bologna was one of those simple foods that always showed up in my lunches and felt familiar every time. I remember plain bologna sandwiches with a little mustard or mayo, and somehow they always tasted better when they were packed by someone I loved. It wasn’t fancy, but it was dependable and easy, which made it a regular part of my childhood. Sometimes I’d roll up a slice just for fun or eat it with crackers as an after-school snack.

9. Uncrustables

Growing up, as a kid Uncrustables always felt like a special treat I could count on. I remember grabbing one from the freezer and waiting just long enough for it to thaw, knowing it would be perfectly soft and ready to eat. There was something exciting about having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the crust, like it was made just for me. Whether it was in my lunchbox or eaten after school, it made things simple, fun and comforting.

8. Oatmeal Creme Pies

Oatmeal Creme Pies were one of those snacks I always looked forward to no matter what. The soft oatmeal cookies with that sweet, creamy filling in the middle felt like the perfect treat after school. I remember slowly pulling them apart or just taking a big bite and enjoying the mix of textures and flavors. They always had a way of making an ordinary day feel a little more special.

7. Cheez Balls

Cheez Balls were one of those after-school snacks that made everything more fun. I remember popping open the giant container and going straight in, grabbing a handful and trying not to eat them too fast. They were crunchy, cheesy and impossible to stop at just a few. Half the fun was licking that bright orange cheese dust off my fingers afterward. Whether I was watching TV or hanging out with friends, they always made the moment better.

6. Cosmic Brownies

Cosmic Brownies always felt like a special kind of after-school treat. I remember opening the wrapper and seeing those colorful candy pieces on top, which somehow made them even more exciting to eat. They were rich, fudgy and just the right amount of sweet, especially after a long day at school. Sometimes I’d eat the candies first, other times I’d go straight for a big bite. Either way, they never lasted long.

5. Pizza Rolls

Growing up, Pizza Rolls were the go-to snack whenever I wanted something hot and satisfying when I came home from school. I remember waiting impatiently for them to come out of the oven or microwave, knowing they’d be crispy on the outside and packed with that cheesy, saucy filling inside. Of course, I’d always burn my mouth on the first bite because I couldn’t wait long enough. No matter what kind of day I had at school, they always hit the spot.

4. Toaster Strudel

Toaster Strudel was one of those treats that always felt a little more exciting than the typical pastry from the grocery store. I remember waiting for it to pop out of the toaster, then carefully spreading the icing on top and trying not to burn my fingers because I wanted to eat it right away. It was warm, flaky, sweet and somehow made afternoons feel special, even on a busy day. It always felt like a small reward.

3. Lunchables

Lunchables felt like the ultimate lunch upgrade. Opening one up was like having my own little build-it-yourself meal, whether it was stacking crackers, cheese and meat, or putting together mini pizzas. It made the after-school rush feel less like a routine and more like something fun I actually looked forward to. I remember taking my time with it, making each bite just right. It wasn’t just about the food; it was the experience that made it special.

2. Bagel Bites

Bagel Bites were always a snack I got excited about. I remember pulling them out of the oven, watching the cheese bubble up on top and trying to wait just long enough so I wouldn’t burn my mouth. Each little bite felt like a mini pizza packed with cheesy, saucy flavor that never disappointed. Whether it was an after-school snack or a weekend hangout with friends, they were always a crowd-pleaser.

1. Dunkaroos

Dunkaroos felt like one of the most fun snacks I could have. I remember opening the pack and seeing the cookies paired with that sweet frosting, ready to be dipped just how I liked them. Sometimes I’d go heavy on the frosting, while other times I’d try to make it last, but it never really worked. It wasn’t just a snack; it was something I got to play with while I ate. Dunkaroos always made the after-school transition sweeter and a little more exciting.

"I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have. The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone - me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients. The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace," he added.
