'70s Rocker Swears by This Controversial Diet, but Experts Warn Against It
There is quite a lot you could rely on Bruce Springsteen, 76, for. His staunch and steady political views, his ability to hype up a crowd, and his 110 percent effort in a show are all things he's been reliably known for, as well as his unflinching frankness. In 2024, when The Times asked the legendary rocker how he stays so fit and energetic, and if it was due to his rumored "one meal a day" (OMAD) diet, he didn't hesitate to answer.
“Pretty much. I’ll have a bit of fruit in the morning, and then I’ll have dinner. That has kept me lean and mean,” he candidly replied.
Photo by Kevin Mazur on Getty Images
On its face, it sounds pretty logical. Just as Springsteen's music is an American pastime, so is overeating. Recent studies indicate that nearly 42 percent of U.S. adults are obese, defined as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher. While the BMI scale is an antiquated measurement, and more and more Americans are turning to GLP-1s to trim their fat, Springsteen's approach is fairly appealing on the surface. But is the act of eating one meal a day actually good for you, let alone effective? Several dietitians aren't so convinced.
What Dietitians Really Think of OMADOMAD is essentially a form of intermittent fasting, which is the practice of blocking out windows of time during which you eat and do not.
"An eating pattern like OMAD can work for some individuals under specific conditions, but it’s a fairly extreme approach that asks the body to do a lot in a very short window," Dr. Wendy Bazilian, a registered dietitian and host of the podcast1,000 Waking Minutes, tells Parade. "From a nutrition standpoint, it can be challenging to meet protein, fiber, and micronutrient needs in a single meal—especially nutrients that benefit from being spaced out for absorption and utilization."
Particularly for people over 50, this approach can significantly affect the ability to meet nutrient needs throughout the day. Protein, which is essential for those over 50, should ideally be spread throughout the day to better support muscle mass, which naturally deteriorates with age.
"An individual who is limiting their food intake to just one time per day will likely feel less energized and have difficulty focusing or concentrating during the course of their day," Kezia Joy, a registered dietitian nutritionist and medical advisor at Welzo, tells Parade. "As time progresses, extended periods between each meal will often disrupt your body's ability to recognize when you are hungry. When individuals wait too long between meals, they tend to eat much larger portions at the next meal, which can lead to poor digestion and fluctuating energy levels."
What's more, it can lead to some intense side effects.
"Intermittent fasting has been studied for its potential effects on weight loss, insulin sensitivity, and cardiometabolic health," explains Dr. Charlotte Markey, a clinical health psychology professor at Rutgers University who specializes in body image and social influences on health. "Evidence from randomized controlled trials suggests that intermittent fasting can be effective for short-term weight reduction and metabolic improvements, with outcomes often comparable to those achieved by traditional continuous calorie restriction."
"However, questions remain regarding its long-term sustainability, safety for specific populations, and potential side effects such as hunger, irritability, and the possibility of leading to disordered eating," Markey continues. "A recent systematic review and meta-analysis concluded that intermittent fasting does not appear to be superior to other calorie-restricted diets in the long term. And since most diets don’t work in the long run, there’s reason to believe that IF won’t offer long-term weight loss."
What Should People, Especially Over 50, Do Instead? When it comes to feeling your best and achieving Springsteen-level stamina, it's better to do the opposite of his daily routine.
"A healthier way of consuming food would be to distribute all your food intake throughout the course of an entire day," advises Joy. "As well as eating a variety of foods at every meal that are rich in complex carbohydrates, fat, and protein for adequate nutrition and energy. Most people will find that simply establishing a routine of regularly timed meals and paying attention to portions will result in a better and longer-lasting outcome than trying to follow a diet."
Bazilian concurs, adding, "A more balanced approach that includes consistent nourishment across the day often better supports satiety, energy, and overall satisfaction, while still allowing for flexibility based on personal preference and lifestyle."
Maybe stick to The Boss's catalog instead of his dietary advice.
Niall Horan Admits He 'Still Hasn't Wrapped His Head Around' Liam Payne's Death
Niall Horan is reflecting on the death of his longtime friend and One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, 18 months after his October 2024 death. The 32-year-old admitted he still "hasn't wrapped his head around" the unexpected tragedy.
“Shock was definitely the first thing [I felt,]" the The Voice coach shared on the The Tommy Tiernan Show on April 4. The singer remembered meeting up with his old pal in Buenos Aires just weeks before his death, and said that "it was great to see him."

"We met up, had a chat, he came around to my hotel room in the daytime and we had a coffee, and then he came to the gig that night," he recalled. "He was in the dressing room before, and came to the show."
Horan's tour ended, and very soon after returning home, he saw a notification on his phone before bed. "It was just pure shock," he said of finding out about his friend's death. "I knew he’d had a couple of issues but I wasn’t around him like I was previous years all the time, I didn't realize to what extent. I wasn’t aware of the depth."
What followed were "the stages of grief" and confusion. "I grew up with this fella and then all of a sudden just… It’s no more. It’s just such a strange thing. You go through, like, what could I have done, if I’d known more? Should I have dug more into it? Could I have talked to other people to get an angle on it? I still just haven’t wrapped my own head around it."
In the following weeks and months, Horan avoided news about the tragedy, instead focusing on being present for Payne's funeral and thinking about their good times together.
"I’ve shared a room with him, I’ve known him since I was 16 years old. I also just kept thinking of his little son... All that [other] stuff is just kind of irrelevant to me," he said. "I also have memories, I want to think about him in that way, rather than the crap they’re going to talk."
Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024, at age 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities said emergency services had been called to the hotel shortly before the incident after staff reported a guest who appeared to be acting erratically and “trashing the entire room,” according to a 911 transcript.
Payne was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering catastrophic injuries from the fall, officials said. In a statement following the tragedy, Payne’s family said they were “heartbroken” and asked for privacy while they grieved.
Payne rose to global fame as a member of One Direction—one of the best-selling boy bands of all time—after appearing on The X Factor in 2010 before later launching a solo career.
1965 Classic Took 44 Takes to Record 61 Years Ago Today
There are summer songs, and then there's the summer song.
Sixty-one years ago today, on April 6, 1965, Brian Wilson walked into Western Studio in Hollywood with a head full of ideas and a band full of session players, ready to record what would become one of the most instantly recognizable pop songs ever made: "California Girls" by The Beach Boys.
It just took him 44 takes to get it right.
Wilson started piecing the song together at a piano after his very first LSD experience, with the now-iconic orchestral intro inspired by the way heroes rode into town in old cowboy movies. "The music started off like those old cowboy movies, when the hero's riding slowly into town, bum-ba-dee-dah," he later wrote in his memoir. The trippy origin story stayed a secret from his bandmate Mike Love, who co-wrote the lyrics, until Wilson finally spilled the beans on the band's 50th anniversary tour in 2012.
That dreamy intro almost didn't make the final cut. Wilson's father Murry pushed him to scrap it, arguing it made the song too complicated. Thank goodness Wilson didn't listen, because that prelude is the part everyone remembers.
The April 6 session at Western Studio was no breeze. The song carried the working title "We Don't Know" and ran the dozen-plus session musicians ragged. Tempo issues and that tricky guitar part in the introduction wore out Wilson, engineer Chuck Britz and the rest of the room. By the time Wilson called it a day, the clock had ticked past midnight and they'd burned through 44 takes of the backing track alone.
The finished song hit shelves on July 12, 1965, and shot all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It anchored the band's album Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) and became shorthand for everything sun-soaked, top-down and Pacific Coast Highway. More than six decades later, you still can't hear those opening notes without picturing a beach.
The song has a different weight now, too. Wilson, the brain behind the band's most ambitious work, died in June 2025 at age 82, making every Beach Boys anniversary feel a little more like a love letter. "California Girls" stands as proof that genius sometimes shows up after midnight, on take 44, when everyone in the room is exhausted but the song just won't quit.

In March 2018, 8 years prior to his passing, Rex was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent 100 hours of chemotherapy before being declared cancer-free in June, returning to the Syracuse football team later that year.

Alyssa Milano’s Daughter Elizabeth Looks Just Like Her on ‘Who’s the Boss’ in Sweet Family Easter Photo
Alyssa Milano won the hearts of America's TV viewers in the role of Samantha Micelli on the '80s sitcomWho's the Boss. Flash forward to 2026, and her adorable daughter Elizabeth could tackle the same role today!
Milano, 53, rose to stardom in the role, playing the daughter of Tony Micelli (played by Tony Danza, of course), who moves to suburban Connecticut from Brooklyn to work as a housekeeper for a wealthy advertising executive, played by Judith Light. Milano skyrocketed to fame as a pre-teen in the role, and grew up over the next decade in front of the cameras.
Now married to David Bugliari, Milano is a mother of two, and her daughter, Elizabeth, is basically her twin. If they even decide to do that Who's the Boss reboot, we know exactly who could play Samantha!
In a sweet Easter photo, Milano reflected on how fast her family has grown up.
"Too fast. Happy Easter. Love you all," she captioned the present-day photo, while also featuring one with her children as babies.
View this post on Instagram What Are the Chances of a Who’s the Boss Reboot?Rumors of a Who’s the Boss reboot have gotten fans of the classic series curious in recent years. Last year, Milano told Entertainment Tonight that she thinks a reboot would be a great idea.
“I think it could be really funny because, in my head, Tony is gonna be the exact same character but everything around him is just changing and growing,” Milano told ET. “So I’m excited about the prospect. I think it could be really, really fun.”
However, Light isn’t sure she’d be able to commit to the show just yet. However, she made it clear that she also can’t guarantee what will happen in the future.
“In terms of where I am and the workload that I have right now, I don’t know what my availability would be,” the actress told PEOPLE last year. “When I started my career, I said I’d never do a soap opera and I’d never do a sitcom,” she continued. “Well, I did both those things. Then I said I would never marry an actor. And I did just that. So, I learned to never say never.”
Who could forget that classic series opening theme?
’90s TGIF Star and Primetime Emmy Winner, Adorably ‘Getting Loaded’ on Margaritas, Turns 78
Funny lady Patrika Darbodeserves a toast today, as the ’90s icon is celebrating 78 years young.
Darbo — who you’ll recognize from a myriad of classic television shows (Punky Brewster, Growing Pains, Step by Step, Seinfeld), soap operas (Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, St. Elsewhere), and movies (Corrina, Corrina, Babe, Charlie Wilson’s War) — often takes to her social media to share peeks into her life with fans.
In her latest Instagram post, the Acting Dead Emmy winner shares that she and her friends are at a Mexican food restaurant — “I’ve had a margarita!” she says — when she runs into Broadway legend Marsha Mason. Together, they show some love for ArtCo, a program that teaches kids to perform.
“We’ve been getting a little loaded here,” Darbo jokes, before passing the camera to Mason to share her background in theater, which includes starring in Cactus Flower (1965), The Good Doctor(1973), and Steel Magnolias (2005).
“She’s my competition,” Darbo quips. “I’m going to kill her later, but you don’t have to worry about that right now.”
“She’s funnier than me,” Mason jokes back.
Darbo then goes around the table introducing her pals, all allies and staffers of Los Angeles’ ArtCo production coaching company.
The actress and comedian is still booked and busy today. Following her voice-acting contributions to the adult animation series Haha, You Clowns, Darbo has short film Open House, TV series The Bubble, and drama You Did What? - A Father and Son Reunion all on the docket.
Happy birthday!
Zepbound vs. Wegovy: Which Weight Loss Medication Is Better Right Now?
If you are among the 40% of people in the U.S. with obesity, one of the most powerful actions you can take for your health is working with your healthcare provider to treat it. Obesity is nothing to be ashamed of; it’s a chronic health condition and is in no way a moral failure. For many people, maintaining a balanced diet and exercising regularly does not lead to significant weight loss. And that's okay!
That’s where prescription weight loss medications, such as Zepbound and Wegovy, come into play. Both of these medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration and have been scientifically shown to lead to significant weight loss.
Related: Wegovy Could Be Silently Treating a Serious Health Risk You Didn't Know You Had
Here’s why that matters: Obesity is a significant risk factor for many life-threatening conditions, including cardiovascular disease, liver disease, kidney disease and several forms of cancer. This means that reversing obesity (with or without the help of prescription medication) reduces these risks.
Maybe you are thinking about going on a weight loss medication, but aren’t sure which one is the best fit for you. You may be wondering if there’s one that works best or is least expensive, and what the difference is. With this in mind, we talked to obesity medicine doctors about how Zepbound and Wegovy (two of the most popular weight loss medications) compare.

How Zepbound and Wegovy Compare When It Comes To Cost and EffectivenessZepbound and Wegovy are both GLP-1 medications, so you may be wondering how they're different. “The difference between Zepbound and Wegovy comes down to both mechanism and magnitude of effect,” says Dr. Betsy Dovec, MD, FACS, a bariatric surgeon with BodyByBariatrics.
Dr. Dovec explains that Wegovy is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which means that it mimics a single incretin or gastrointestinal hormone that regulates appetite, slows gastric emptying and improves blood sugar control.
Related: Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro—Is There a Difference Between These Medications? Here's What Experts Say
“Zepbound, on the other hand, is a dual agonist that targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which creates a more comprehensive metabolic effect. This dual pathway enhances satiety, improves insulin sensitivity and appears to have a greater impact on fat metabolism,” she says.
The difference between how Wegovy and Zepound work matters when it comes to their efficacy. According to Dr. Dovec, semaglutide (Wegovy) produces an average weight loss of approximately 10 to 15% of total body weight, while tirzepatide (Zepbound) has demonstrated closer to 15 to 20%.
“While both medications are highly effective, tirzepatide is often considered the more potent option based on current evidence,” she explains.
In addition to leading to greater weight loss, Dr. Wiljon Beltre, MD, a bariatric surgeon at Beltre Bariatrics in Orlando, Florida, notes that people on Zepbound tend to experience fewer side effects than people taking Wegovy.
How do the two medications compare when it comes to cost?
According to Dr. Beltre, if insurance doesn’t cover it, both medications can cost anywhere from between $200 to $500. Dr. Dovec adds to this, noting that she’s seen costs for both medications reach $1,000 per month out of pocket. “Cost remains one of the biggest barriers to access for both medications, and unfortunately, they are similar in that regard,” she explains.
If you are considering taking a weight loss medication, it’s important to talk to your health insurance company about what they cover, what they don’t cover and what your out-of-pocket costs will be.
Related: We Asked 3 Metabolism Experts What People on GLP-1s Should Never Skip—They All Agreed
How To Know Which One Is Right for YouConsidering that Zepbound has been shown to lead to greater weight loss, is associated with fewer side effects and costs roughly the same as Wegovy, you may feel like you have a clear decision on which medication is right for you. But this is still something you should work with your doctor to determine. Both doctors say that there isn’t one GLP-1 that’s the perfect fit for everyone.
For example, Dr. Beltre says that if one of his patients has a history of heart attack or stroke, he typically prescribes Wegovy because it has a track record for reducing cardiovascular risk. But if a patient has severe insulin resistance or a significantly high body mass index, he typically prescribes Zepbound.
“Determining which medication is the best fit is not simply about choosing the one with the highest percentage of weight loss, but rather about aligning the treatment with the individual patient. In my practice, this decision is based on a combination of factors, including baseline BMI, metabolic health, prior medication history, tolerance to side effects and patient lifestyle,” Dr. Dovec says.
In addition to these factors, Dr. Beltre emphasizes that what your insurance covers also plays a role in which one is the best fit for you. As both doctors previously explained, these drugs can be expensive. If someone is unable to afford a medication because of the cost, they won’t experience the benefits long-term.
It bears repeating that there isn’t one perfect weight loss medication for everyone with obesity. It’s important to work with your doctor—and your health insurance provider—to determine which one is the best fit for you. The good news is that there are options. If one GLP-1 is causing you to experience significant side effects, switching to a different one may work better.
In order for a GLP-1 to be most effective, it needs to be taken long-term. With this in mind, be honest with your doctor about any barriers that may prevent you from taking a medication continuously, whether it’s the cost, side effects or accessibility. Together, you can figure out which one is the best fit for you.

How Myrtle Beach Became a Household Name 50 Years Ago—and Why It Still Is
Fifty years ago, Myrtle Beach wasn’t the iconic vacation destination we know today. It was a modest town along the Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of soft sand and Atlantic shoreline that quietly drew regional visitors. But everything changed in the 1970s.
This was the decade when Myrtle Beach exploded onto the national scene. Families from across the East Coast began piling into station wagons, heading south in search of sun, surf, and something new.
Developers took notice. High-rise oceanfront hotels began reshaping the skyline, replacing small motels and beach cottages. Attractions multiplied almost overnight, from amusement parks, water slides, arcades, and shopping centers turned the once-sleepy beach town into a full-blown entertainment hub.
@itsrhyanjsMy only play to stay!!! #fyp #resort #myrtlebeach #fy #northbeach
♬ Love is in the air - noxz Why It Took OffSo what made Myrtle Beach stick while other beach towns faded in and out of popularity? It came down to a simple but powerful formula: accessibility, affordability, and variety.
Myrtle Beach is easy to get to, easy to navigate, and easy on the wallet. Families could spend a full week there without breaking the bank and still feel like they’d had a complete vacation.
Another key factor? Golf. The area rapidly built course after course, eventually earning its nickname as the “Golf Capital of the World.” That gave Myrtle Beach something many beach towns lacked: a year-round draw that went beyond summer.

Reinventing the Beach ExperienceFast forward to today, and Myrtle Beach has managed to do something many destinations struggle with: staying relevant without losing its identity.
The beach is still the star of the show. That same Grand Strand coastline continues to deliver sunrise views, warm Atlantic waters, and space for everything from peaceful morning walks to lively summer crowds.
But step off the sand, and you’ll find a destination that has grown far beyond its roots. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, completed in 2010, brought new energy to downtown. It’s now a lively stretch filled with restaurants, shops, and oceanfront views that feel straight out of a postcard.
Just steps away, the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach lifts visitors nearly 200 feet into the air, offering panoramic views of the coastline, especially unforgettable at sunset.

Traveling with family? You’ll find endless mini-golf courses, classic arcades, and live entertainment theaters that carry on the town’s long-standing tradition of all-ages fun.
Looking for something more relaxed? Nearby escapes like Myrtle Beach State Park offer a quieter side of the area, with maritime forests, fishing piers, and scenic trails that feel worlds away from the busy boardwalk.
And for golfers, the appeal hasn’t faded. With over 100 courses in the region, Myrtle Beach remains one of the top golf destinations in the country, drawing players from beginners to pros year-round.

NY Times Praises Best-Selling New Book As 'Proof Why the Novel Will Never Die' in Glowing Review
Though there's still plenty of exciting books to look forward to in the months ahead, Ben Lerner's new novel Transcription has already been called one of the best novels of 2026 among some of the prestigious publications in the literary world.
Lerner's first full-length novel in seven years, Transcription follows an unnamed writer attempting to piece together the final interview between himself and his aged, world-renowned mentor. Without a means to transcribe the interview word-by-word, the writer tries his best to recreate their conversation from memory, leading to some unexpected results along the way.
As with most of Lerner's novels, Transcription offers a moving meditation on life, memory, technology and the intricacies behind layered storytelling. A comparatively slim book of about 144 pages, it's also been praised for its surprising complexity yet overarching accessibility among mainstream readers, leading to its favorable reviews among critics.
Above all else, many critics felt the book perfectly illustrated the qualities that make a strong work of art worth audiences' time and attention, most especially in an age where there's growing concern about AI's place in the artistic community.
"Transcription reveals itself as more, far more, than an anthropology of digital modernity," wrote The Guardian. "Across generations there is strange weather, war and its collaterals, isolation, confusion. And it’s precisely in these moments of storytelling and connection that we might, just might, escape the noose of nowness, become touched by an enriched sensation of time."
"Above all, he makes a case that reading — our experience of decoding, observing patterns, interpreting and misinterpreting language — is not merely a means of accessing a version of reality but an event in itself, and a profound encounter," said The New York Times.
"This is slighter fare for Lerner but surprisingly potent given its length, interested in the ways that we manufacture our identities and how technology speeds the process along," echoed Kirkus Reviews.
Lerner's new book, Transcription, arrives on shelves April 7, 2026.
I Asked Dietitians What Women Over 50 Are Getting Wrong About Their Diets, and They All Said the Same 2 Things
It's honestly kind of annoying how much bodies change. Just when you feel like you've got into a rhythm, you enter a new age bracket, and with it comes a whole new host of issues. The thing is, keeping up with your body means being adaptive, so your exercise and eating habits need to evolve as you grow older. If you're entering your 50s, the things that worked for your 20-year-old body won't hold up.
Whether your goal is to lose weight, build muscle, or just stay stable, there are things you should do with your diet to make sure you're taking the best care of your body. And while everyone and their mom seems to have a different opinion on what that is, we spoke with several dietitians who all noted the two major things women over 50 get wrong about their diets:
- Lacking Protein
- Lacking Fiber
Protein in and of itself is a vital macronutrient for repairing cells, building muscle, and supporting the immune system. It also supports you in achieving goals like weight loss by making you feel fuller, improving blood pressure control, and lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Despite all of this, nutritionists say most women over 50 make a major mistake by not getting enough of it throughout the day.
"It’s very common for women to underestimate their protein intake when most women over 50 need at least 1.0–1.2 grams of protein per kg of body weight per day," Jordan Hill, a registered dietitian at Top Nutrition Coaching, tells Parade. "Ideally, women should strive to get at least 25–30 grams of protein at each meal. Adequate protein intake helps retain muscle mass when aging, and adequate calcium and vitamin D help retain bone mineral density."
It is also a key factor in helping manage the havoc menopause wreaks on the body.
"During midlife, particularly around menopause, women become more susceptible to insulin resistance," said Avery Zenker,a registered dietitian and writer for MyHealthTeam's Crohn's and Colitis Team. "This means that the body isn’t as good at managing blood sugar as it used to be, which can lead to high blood sugar and type 2 diabetes. Protein has a significant impact on stabilizing blood sugar by slowing the absorption of carbohydrates from food."

Fiber's Role in the Health of Women 50 and OlderFiber acts as a "buffer" in the bloodstream. By slowing down how quickly sugar is absorbed, it prevents the sharp spikes and crashes that lead to:
- Mood & Energy: Irritability, "brain fog," and midlife energy slumps.
- Cravings: Sudden urges for sugar or high-fat foods.
- Insulin Resistance: A condition more common during perimenopause that can lead to type 2 diabetes.
"Fiber is one of the key nutrients to focus on during peri- and post-menopause. It’s estimated that about 95% of Americans aren’t meeting daily fiber recommendations," warns Zenker. "Fiber helps combat multiple risk factors that are common during peri-menopause and post-menopause, including insulin resistance, obesity, fatty liver, dysbiosis, and high cholesterol. In addition, fiber helps support a healthy body weight by regulating appetite."
Another thing most women get wrong, according to registered dietitianElizabeth Ward, is the tendency to blame a different culprit for weight issues over 50.
"Women tend to blame carbohydrates for weight problems and drastically cut back on them, but you can't get the recommended amount of fiber on a low-carbohydrate diet," Ward warns. "I advise women to eat whole grains, legumes, lentils, fruits, and vegetables to get the carbohydrates and fiber they need. Women need at least 25 grams of fiber daily. Fiber keeps you fuller for longer, and a higher-fiber eating plan is associated with a decreased risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and colon cancer."
Other Diet Factors Women Over 50 Should ConsiderOf course, those two factors aren't the only things women over 50 struggle with when it comes to diet. Frequently, women skip breakfast, don't eat enough at lunch, and end up consuming most of their calories at night.
"This is a cycle that a lot of women are locked into," claims Ward. "Breakfast is a cup of coffee and a slice of toast, lunch is a salad that's lacking adequate fiber and protein to keep them full, and they're starving by 3 p.m. Dinner is a heavy meal, and there's snacking after dinner to make up for not properly fueling themselves during the day."
To break the cycle, Ward suggests eating half as much at night and planning for balanced meals earlier in the day, such as whole-grain cereal with fruit for breakfast or a protein-rich sandwich for lunch.
Zenker also warns that, on average, older women tend to skip an important food group altogether: fruit.
"Fruits are nutrient-dense sources of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants," says Zenker. "Regular fruit intake is associated with better health outcomes and reduced menopause symptoms. The fiber in fruit helps slow the absorption of their natural sugars, reducing the impact on blood sugar."
If women over 50 make an effort to improve these areas of their diet, they'll likely start seeing the results they've been longing for.

Celeb Parents Who Don’t Share Their Children on Social Media and Why
Celebrities sign up for the spotlight. But their children don’t. And that’s why some of the most famous faces choose to shield their little ones from the public’s ever-watchful eye.
From A-list power couples to action stars, these parents prefer to keep their kiddos’ identities private on social media. Of course, celebrities aren’t the only moms and dads who engage in “sharenting” (the growing trend of parents sharing pics and videos of their kids online). A 2023 article published in The Journal of Pediatricsnoted that a European study found parents share an average of 300 photos of their kids annually—naming Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter the top places to post.
So which celebs don’t share photos of their kids or hide their identities under emojis? Here are the most well-known parents who like to keep their families private:
Kristen Bell and Dax ShepardActress Kristen Bell and hubby Dax Shepardspearheaded the “No Kids Policy” against the paparazzi to protect the privacy of celeb children. The couple rarely shares pics of their two daughters, Lincoln and Delta. But occasionally you can catch a glimpse. Last March, Bell celebrated her eldest’s 13th birthday with a cute carousel of clips. Instead of showing her kiddo’s face, she chose back angles and used hearts as camouflage.
View this post on Instagram Eva Mendes and Ryan GoslingThis famous couple won’t post pics of their kiddos until they are old enough to consent. And while we’re sure an Eva Mendes-Ryan Gosling genetic mashup is nothing but beautiful, it looks like fans won’t get to see Esmeralda or Amada on their famous mom’s Instagram page anytime soon.
But if you want to see photos of Mendes as a child, she shared a sentimental story about her own mother and a few sweet snapshots of her earlier years last December.
View this post on Instagram Orlando BloomThe Pirates of the Caribbeanactor is dad to two children: Flynn Christopher BlanchardCopeland Bloom (with ex-wife Miranda Kerr) and Daisy Dove Bloom (with ex Katy Perry). Like other celebs, Orlando Bloom rarely posts pics of his kids on social media. But occasionally, he adds a few in. The actor faced a backlash in August of 2025, after sharing a photo of then-four-year-old daughter Daisy with her naked bum exposed. He later edited the shot to cover her backside with an emoji.
View this post on Instagram Mila Kunis and Ashton KutcherActors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have two children: a daughter, Wyatt Isabelle, and a son, Dimitri Portwood. The celeb parents are fiercely protective of their children’s privacy, hiding their faces from the public.
While Kutcher does have a social media presence, you won’t find his wife on Instagram. In a 2018 interview withCosmopolitan, the actress said, of social media, “it took an ugly turn and became all about who can be the loudest, when can be the angriest and most negative.”
View this post on Instagram Emily Blunt and John KrasinskiLike Kunis, you won’t see actress Emily Blunt on Instagram. The celeb parent stays off social media to maintain her privacy. On the other hand, actor JohnKrasinski does have an Instagram account. But instead of posting pics of the couple’s kids (the pair have two daughters, Hazel and Violet), Krasinski uses the platform to share info about his upcoming projects.
View this post on InstagramReality Star's Award-Winning Memoir Dubbed 'Incredibly Honest and Painful'
Few celebrity memoirs pull back the curtain quite like Reality Check.
The bestselling book by Mike Sorrentino—best known as "The Situation" from MTV's reality series Jersey Shore—earned recognition as a USA Best Book Award winner in 2024, a nod to its impact beyond the typical reality TV audience.
Originally released in 2023, Reality Check traces the 43-year-old's rise to fame during the early days of Jersey Shore, when the show became a cultural phenomenon and turned its cast into overnight celebrities. But instead of focusing solely on the glitz of reality TV success, the memoir quickly shifts into something much deeper.
Sorrentino opens up about the pressures that came with fame and how they contributed to struggles with addiction, legal issues and personal setbacks that played out both publicly and behind the scenes. At its core, the book is about accountability, growth and what it takes to rebuild when everything falls apart.
The narrative follows his journey through some of his lowest moments, including his path to sobriety and time served in prison, before moving toward a more hopeful chapter centered on family, stability and a renewed sense of purpose.
Blending humor, reflection and hard truths, Reality Check offers a candid perspective on the highs and lows of reality TV life—while also exploring broader themes of resilience, redemption and self-awareness.
The book has resonated with readers for its emotional honesty, with many praising Sorrentino’s willingness to confront difficult parts of his past without sugarcoating them. One fan of the original Jersey Shore series claims they didn't care much for Sorrentino when the show was on, but reading his memoir changed all that.
"This memoir made me gasp, laugh, recoil, and cry," their GoodReads reviewreads. "But, that’s what any good memoir will do to you. His story is told in an incredibly honest and painful way."
"If you are a huge Jersey Shore fan like me, this is a must read!" another reviewer reads. "It was exciting, devastating, and overcoming! Absolute 5 star read! I think it’s time to rewatch Jersey Shore for the millionth time..."
"It was interesting of course, but also really heartbreaking reading his recounts of what was really going on behind the cameras," another GoodReads review says. "It truly shows that you don’t know what people are going through."
Over the years, celebrity memoirs have become a crowded space—but Reality Check stands out for how personal it feels.
With its award recognition and continued buzz among readers, Sorrentino’s story proves that sometimes the most compelling narratives come not from fame itself, but from what happens after it.

Nia and Danny Booko Just Upgraded the Valley—and Their Santa Clarita Home Is Everything
It’s official: the national crisis is over, and Bravo has blessed us with the return of arguably the greatest show on TV, The Valley. Yes, that’s my hot take (and, let’s be honest, TikTok agrees). I’ve been counting down the days until Nia and Danny Booko graced my screen again. Fun fact: Danny was on Hannah Montana. ICONIC. Yet somehow, despite all the glow-up energy, the show isn’t getting the attention it deserves.
Meanwhile, the Bravo universe has been a nonstop rollercoaster—from Taylor, Frankie and Paul’s Bachelorette chaos to the mysterious West Wilson/Amanda BatulaSummer House saga (#TeamCiara)—but let’s bring the spotlight back to the SURvers we actually care about.
Season three kicked off with serious Vanderpump Rules vibes: Jax Taylor is gone, Brittany Cartwright is back, and LaLa Kent and Tom Schwartz (ugh, love him) have entered the chat. If last season was about losing your sparkle, this one is all about reclaiming it—or at least that’s the Schwartz-approved version. And while some of that glitter may be hiding elsewhere, it certainly isn’t lost on our favorite couple.
Nia and Danny finally ditched their penthouse and dove headfirst into Santa Clarita life. Danny got the space, the pool and a new house, while Nia got all that plus baby number four (Six days before Kristin Doute has hers!). Honestly, can life get any more chef’s kiss perfect?
Which is why we can’t be a little curious: what does this upgraded home actually look like? Last season, we were left squinting at square footage after Jasmine showed them that notoriously tiny home and left praying that they’d finally bid their Encino penthouse condo goodbye. And, fortunately, they did.
Shortly after filming wrapped, the pair went all-in on a $1.3 million Santa Clarita house. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms and 2,845-square-feet, everyone finally has space to call their own. However, since we haven’t gotten much screen time inside yet, we’re here to give you the full tour. Here’s a look inside Nia and Danny Booko’s Santa Clarita home.
Danny's DomainIt’s tricky to sum up the open-concept chaos-slash-chic of the Booko house, so it makes sense to start where the magic (and the mess) begins: the kitchen. It flows straight into the living and dining areas, but what keeps it from feeling generic is all in the details—tall, medium-dark wood cabinets with brushed brass handles that add warmth, and a sleek white quartz waterfall island that quietly becomes the home’s catchall, equal parts prep station and “drop everything here” zone. Nothing feels overstyled or precious, which tracks with the couple themselves; a leaning wooden cutting board, a few neutral ceramics and a bit of greenery keep things grounded and livable without tipping into staged.
Overall, the kitchen is practical and polished, but our favorite part? When Entertainment Tonight asked who actually cooks, Nia just smirked and answered in sync with Danny: “Danny.” Which works out perfectly—as long as he’s not sneaking shots in the pantry first (Mostly kidding).
Nia’s Neutrality Runs DeepNia’s neutrality isn’t just for TV—it shows up in her design, too, and it’s doing real work. The open-concept living room and kitchen are big, but they don’t feel chaotic. Two cream-gray sofas quietly divide the space, while a wall-mounted TV hangs above it all like a calm center point. And right beneath it? The reality check: bins of kids’ toys tucked out of sight. They joke about having “toys stuffed everywhere,” but this is the trick—you don’t see the mess unless you go looking for it. As long as her soft, tonal palette holds, Nia gets her calm, and the kids still get their chaos.
A few steps over, that balance gives way to full kid mode. There’s a miniature kitchenette, a small table and chairs. Danny says it’s where they “eat” and “homeschool,” which clearly depends on the day. Art projects pile up, things get loud, and nothing stays still for long. Which is exactly why the expanding oval dining table nearby works so well. It pulls the whole space back together when it needs to—whether it’s for an actual family dinner or, as Danny jokes, a The Valley season three reunion (Honestly, someone call Andy).
Twice the Trouble View this post on InstagramRemember how they said every kid would eventually have their own room? That’s still the plan…in theory. For now, it’s a little more strategic. The two-year-old twins, Isabella and Zariah, share the only bedroom upstairs, while big brother Asher, 4, and baby Adelaide, 1, each carve out their own corners of calm elsewhere.
The twins’ room looks sweet at first glance, but it’s built for real life. Two cribs sit side by side—not styled, but positioned for quick reshuffling when needed. As Nia says, “the cribs have to be moved,” basically making it a part of her daily workout. The pink walls lean playful, almost princess-coded, but they’re grounded with woodsy, cottage-style touches that give each twin a bit of individuality without pushing the room into full-on bubblegum territory.
Pools, Push-Ups and Tiny Warrior Princesses View this post on InstagramWalk a step or two more, and the backyard unfolds. “Very sunset, indoor-outdoor living,” Nia says, as the pair opens the ceiling-to-floor double doors. Instantly, you’re outside, facing one of the most magical scenes we’ve seen: Plummer Canyon stretches fully into view, looking straight out of a movie—or, in this case, a TV show. Your eyes naturally drift to the pool, which dominates the space with sharp lines, clean stone decking and a geometric shape that feels completely one-of-a-kind.
For the couple, the pool was non-negotiable. “Living in Southern California, it was non-negotiable; we had to have a pool,” Danny says. Nia laughs: “People say you don’t need a pool, but no [...] Daniel is in it multiple times a day. It is well used.” Danny grins. “I need to start heating it; before, it was basically a cold plunge.”
Just beyond the pool, the home gym stakes its claim. “Don’t get too close, there is some clutter,” Nia warns. There’s a weight bench, dumbbells, a pull-up bar—but the highlight is watching the family in action. Danny jokes this is where the “Booko body is built,” while Nia adds, “The girls want to work out like Daddy, which is great.” A few steps further, a pink mini playhouse pops into view, and the couple laughs, saying that’s where the girls “live.”
Despite all the different stations: the pool, the gym, the playhouse; the open layout keeps everything feeling cohesive. “It is heaven out here,” Danny says. Nia grins: “They say it’s God’s country, ya know.”
Keys and ChaosTrying to keep up? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Back inside, a black upright piano stands in the corner, serious and commanding…right next to a ridiculously large stuffed giraffe. “Indoors there is plenty of space for Danny’s piano (next to a stuffed giraffe),” the tour notes—and seeing it in person, it’s clear: this is where music collides with life in glorious noise. Light floors and open walls keep the room airy, while sheet music waits patiently for Danny…or maybe one day for one of the kids.
High Above the Booko-nessThe primary bedroom is Nia and Danny’s retreat from it all. The bed is swathed in soft, cloud-like white sheets, and windows frame sweeping Plummer Canyon views, letting in natural light that makes the space calm and serene; a sharp contrast to the chaos of the kitchen, kids and pool below. Add in the walk-in closet and consider me officially sold.

1988 Career-Defining Hit Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of All Time' Released 38 Years Ago Today
Tracy Chapman released her eponymous debut album in April 1988, the world’s first introduction to her soulful voice and storytelling songwriting.
Leading the album was “Fast Car,” released as a debut single on April 6, 1988, by Elektra Records.
Even though it never hit number one on the charts, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, it’s widely considered her career-defining song, putting the singer-songwriter on the map.
The acoustic folk-pop single was deeply relatable, as the minimal production and lyrics addressed economic hardships and working-class struggles amid a narrative of hope and escape.
The message still resonates with listeners to this day, even ranking on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list in 2021 and 2024.
It inspired countless covers and tributes, includingLuke Combs’ country version, released in 2023, which scored the Academy of Country Music Award for Single of the Year.
Combs’ single soared to the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the original, but as his single gained traction, so did Champan’s. Combs’ success helped Chapman’s reach the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Country Songwriters chart, a rare feat as she was credited as the sole songwriter.
A year after the song’s release, Chapman hit the Grammys stage to perform the song alongside Combs, who introduced the classic to new audiences, including younger listeners, decades after the song’s release.
Tracy Champan's Debut Album SuccessThe debut album was equally groundbreaking, with standout tracks that addressed social issues and personal narratives like “Talkin’ ‘bout a Revolution” and “Baby Can I Hold You.”
The social media account Discogs celebrated the anniversary of the album, writing, “While “Fast Car,” a heart-grabbing close-up on institutionalized poverty, is the tune that made the former busker a star, this song is surrounded by equally impactful tunes taking on materialism (“Mountains o’ Things”) and crying out for a major wave of change (“Talkin’ ‘bout a Revolution”).”
And the praise pouring into the comment section was reminiscent of the reaction the album got in real-time from critics and fans, who underscored the authenticity and credibility of her minimalist yet powerful arrangements.
View this post on Instagram“38 years of a masterpiece that will never go out of style. For me this is one of those 10/10 albums where you never, ever skip a track. A total essential for any collection! 👏🏼” one wrote.
Another echoed, “Timeless masterpiece! One of the best 80’s albums!” as a third declared, “Got me through some really hard times still does 🙌😢.”
38 years later, Chapman’s debut album and “Fast Car” remain a testament to the enduring power of storytelling in music and the voice of a truly iconic artist.
‘Deadliest Catch’ Star Todd Meadows’ Family Reportedly Filing Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Todd Meadows' family is reportedly filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the family is trying to open Meadows' probate estate and is looking to hold someone legally responsibly for his death.
Meadows died at the age of 25 while filming Deadliest Catch in February. He fell overboard while crabbing on the Aleutian Lady fishing boat in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska, and his cause of death was later confirmed to be "drowning with probable hypothermia" and "submersion of body in cold water."
It's unclear who will be named as a defendant in the forthcoming lawsuit, however, the Deadliest Catch cameras were rolling at the time of Meadows' accident. The family has previously told TMZ that they do not want Discovery Channel to air any footage of the incident.
"We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility," Todd's mother Angela Meadows told the outlet. "We will have justice for Todd."

The news of Meadows’ death was first announced by his Deadliest Catch co-star Capt. Rick Shelford via Instagram on Mar. 2.
“February 25, 2026 was the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea,” Shelford wrote. “We lost our brother, Todd Meadows. Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.”
“Todd’s love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything he did,” he continued. “He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him. Right now, our hearts are broken in a way that words can’t fully express. We ask that you lift Todd’s children and family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him.”
He concluded, “Todd will forever be part of this boat, this crew, and this brotherhood. Though we lost him far too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him. Rest easy brother, till we meet again.”
Meadows is survived by his wife and three children. The Coast Guard's investigation into his death is ongoing.
