Popular Breakfast Chain Einstein Bros. Bagels Issues Recall for 'Life-Threatening' Production Error
A national bagel chain has issued a recall for a popular flavor of its beloved cream cheese spreads after a major production error that could cause "life-threatening" reactions was discovered.
144 cases of Einstein Bros. Bagels cream cheeses were incorrectly labeled as "Plain" when the containers actually contain the brand's "Honey Almond" flavor, which could put those with almond sensitivities at risk for a severe allergic reaction if consumed.
Affected products were packaged in six-ounce cups and sold at locations in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming, with a "Best If Used By" date of July 21, 2026. No illnesses or adverse reactions had been reported at the time of the recall, which was initiated after shipments of the Schreiber Foods, Inc.-owned brand's products were discovered to have contradictory lids and cups, with the Honey Almond cream cheese stored in a Plain-labeled cup with a Honey Almond lid. According to the FDA, an investigation confirmed that it was a "limited packaging...issue" that has since been corrected, and no other products were involved.
Why Is This Error 'Life-Threatening?'If a customer with an allergy to almonds consumes the mislabeled cream cheese, it could lead to a mild reaction, like GI upset, or an anaphylactic reaction, depending on the severity of their sensitivity. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can quickly become deadly if not treated quickly.
What Should You Do If You Have a Recalled Tub of Cream Cheese?Customers who purchased impacted products are encouraged to return them to the store for a full refund.

In an Instagram update, Metallica’s non-profit organization, All Within My Hands (AWMH) donated $125,000 through local organizations.
“All Within My Hands is granting $125,000 to flood relief efforts in Hawaii through three local organizations: the @hawaiiancouncil, the @lahuifoundation, and @huioheenalunorthshore. Hawaii is facing the worst flooding it’s seen in more than two decades, leaving the islands suffering an estimated US$1B in damage statewide. The torrential rains, saturated soil, and surging rivers have ravaged hundreds of homes and farms across the island. While the heaviest rains have passed, flash floods remain possible in the coming days,” the caption reads.
View this post on InstagramIn addition, the 2009 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee also teamed up with Jason Momoa’s foundation Pride of Gypsies, along with “many other organizations and individuals working to provide critical relief and recovery assistance to the islands.”
This bold and meaningful action stole the hearts of Hawaiians and fans worldwide.
The comment section was filled with messages from fans expressing gratitude for the band’s support.
“Mahalo @metallica,” one wrote.
“Mahalo! Metallica’s the best,” a commenter said.
“Thank you!!!” a follower echoed.
The same goes for another who said “Mahalo Nui Kākou!!” which means "Thank you very much."
“Thank you, @metallica, for this. We love you. Sincerely @andhawaiiforall,” a commenter added.
Together with their management, the iconic band established its non-profit organization in 2017. AWMH focuses on building better communities by creating sustainable livelihoods, supporting workforce education, combating hunger and funding critical local services.
During the 2023 Maui wildfire, Metallica has donated $200,000 to the Hawai'i Community Foundation. This generous move to the people in Hawaii was rooted in their philanthropy and personal connections. In addition, guitarist Kirk Hammett has a property in Hawaii where he usually spends time surfing.

1984 Pop-Rock Classic, Named One of the Top '80s Movie Soundtrack Songs, Hit No. 1 Exactly 42 Years Ago
On this day in 1984, Kenny Loggins made both movie andmusic history.
Exactly 42 years ago on March 31, 1984, Loggins' hit pop-rock track "Footloose," written for the iconic movie of the same name, soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it remained for three straight weeks.
A defining song of the '80s, "Footloose" served as the backdrop for two of Kevin Bacon's legendary dance scenes in the movie and quickly reached mainstream success. Co-written by Loggins and Dean Pitchford, the catchy tune would go on to be named one of the top songs of that year. It was ranked No. 4 on Billboard's 1984 year-end chart, and in 1990, it was certified Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA, signifying over one million copies sold.
View this post on InstagramNot only did the song become a massive success on the music charts, but it also garnered major critical acclaim, earning nominations for Best Original Song at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes in 1985. (Both awards that year went to Stevie Wonder for "I Just Called to Say I Love You" from The Woman in Red.)
"Footloose" was ranked by the Retro Network at #5 on their list of Top 50 '80s Movie Soundtrack Songs, and it was also included on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Top Movie Songs of All Time, coming it at #96.
The song has since surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, making Loggins an official member of the platform's Billions Club in November 2025.
"Footloose" is Loggins' only song to reach the No. 1 spot, though his hit song "Danger Zone," from the blockbuster film Top Gun, came close when it peaked at No. 2 in July 1986.
Loggins, often nicknamed the "King of the Movie Soundtrack," is renowned for several other hit movie songs, like "I'm Alright" from 1980's Caddyshack and "Meet Me Half Way"from 1987's Over the Top, among many others.

2000s Heavy Metal Rocker Makes $1.5 Million Move Before 2026 Tour
A major life update is making waves in the rock world as Dan Donegan, guitarist and co-founder of Disturbed, has officially put his Illinois home on the market for $1.575 million, signaling a personal shift just as the band prepares to ease off touring in 2026.
According to Blabbermouth, public records show the 57-year-old musician originally bought the sprawling 7,000-square-foot property in Orland Park, Illinois, in March 2023 for $1.3 million. Now, less than three years later, Donegan is ready to move on—both literally and emotionally.
"I'm selling my home!!!!!! 3 yrs was enough for me & it's time to move on. Lots of great memories & parties here but I'm going back to the OG & those backyard parties. 10 minutes away, lol!" Donegan announced the news on Saturday.

He also revealed his next step, adding: "I'm gonna be splitting my time between the Glen and Sarasota, Florida."
Donegan quickly clarified that his roots remain firmly in Illinois despite the big move. In an updated message, he said: "I had to re-edit this, so let me be clear, Illinois is still home, I'm going back to Homer Glen & I'll still be here 80%."
View this post on InstagramAt the same time, he confirmed a second home in Florida, explaining: "I just got a place to escape too from time to time & experience the salt life & the sun."
The guitarist shared that he is already preparing for the transition: "I already got my place and headed down next week to pick out furniture, discover new places & meet new people."
Just days later, Donegan posted a video of the property and hinted that the listing is drawing strong attention.
"My home in Illinois is for sale! Just 40 minutes south of Chicago. Many showings already that happened over the weekend. This will go fast,” he wrote.
Donegan’s real estate move comes at a key moment for Disturbed. After a busy 2025 run celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sickness, the band has signaled plans to step back in 2026.
In late 2025, Donegan shared that the group would "take quite a bit of time off [in 2026]", echoing comments from frontman David Draiman, who said: "We all need a nice long break."
While fans continue to speculate about new tour dates and festival appearances, the overall plan points to a lighter schedule rather than a full-scale global tour.
Still, momentum around the band remains strong. Disturbed released the single "I Will Not Break" in early 2025 through their own label, and reports confirm that new material is already recorded, waiting for the right time to be released.
The band, formed in Chicago in the late 1990s, has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, with multiple multi-platinum records. Donegan, known for his heavy riffs and melodic solos, has played a central role in shaping the group’s sound since its breakthrough debut The Sickness in 2000.
Whether it’s new music, selective performances, or a full return down the line, one thing is clear: change is underway for Donegan, both on and off the stage.

1976 Hit Changed Everything for This Heartland Rocker
In 1976, Bob Seger went from obscure Heartland rocker to national superstar. But it wasn't overnight; it took years of grit and determination, and, well, a killer live album.
According to American Songwriter, it was Seger's ninth album and first live album, Live Bullet, that changed everything. And to think, he wasn't keen on the idea at first.
View this post on InstagramSeger’s professional music career started in 1961. Following his time with The Decibels, he moved on to Doug Brown & The Omens, The Beach Bums, and The Last Herd. In 1968, per the outlet, Seger scored his first Top 40 single, “Ramblin’, Gamblin’ Man” with The Bob Seger System. He went on to produce seven more albums -- two with the band, five solo -- yet still remained but a blip on the radar.
In 1975, however, that was about to change. While Seger was crafting music for his next record, the artist and his manager, Punch Andrews, decided a live album would hold over Seger’s fans until the forthcoming album’s release. Not thrilled with the idea, Seger thought the market was way too saturated with live albums, but went along with the idea anyway. Equipped with The Silver Bullet Band, the crew recorded two nights at Detroit’s infamous Cobo Hall.
The resulting 15-track double album was released in April 1976, with live versions of Seger hits “Beautiful Loser,” “Turn the Page,” and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man." The album, which broke into the Top 40, was acclaimed critically and even attracted new fans outside the Midwest market who couldn’t wait to see what Seger and The Silver Bullet Band would do next. Night Moves, now widely considered an essential and landmark record, dropped in October later that year, and the band never looked back.
“[Live Bullet] now stands as one of the finest live albums ever," AS writes, "in part because you can hear the excitement of a local audience that already knew what the rest of the world was about to discover.”
Speaking to SiriusXM in a June 2021 video interview, Seger, 80, said he regarded the band's two-night event as business as usual and nothing out of the ordinary.
“Honestly, it was just kind of another show, but the size of it was really fun," he said. "There was no limit to what we could play, because we were the headliner. … We were unleashed. We were ready for it, frankly. I remember it being a lot of fun.”

Legendary Rocker Released 2 Albums At Once 34 Years Ago Today
Bruce Springsteen released Human Touch and Lucky Town 34 years ago today!
On March 31, 1992, the legendary rocker made an unprecedented move by dropping not one, but two, new albums on the same day. The new records marked his first studio albums since 1987's Tunnel of Love.
During the 1988 Tunnel of Love Express Tour, it was widely reported that Springsteen, who had kept his personal life out of the tabloids until this point, was having an affair with backup singer Patti Scialfa and had separated from his wife Julianne Phillips. He would go on to marry Scialfa in 1991.
In October 1989, a year after wrapping the tour, Springsteen shocked fans when he fired his E Street Band. Shortly after, he and Scialfa left New Jersey for Los Angeles—getting married and having their first child in a relatively short time period.
During this time, the only new music Springsteen released were six songs debuted at two benefit concerts in 1990.
RELATED: Beloved ’80s Musician With No. 1 Debut Album Turns 63 Today
Initially, Springsteen planned to release Human Touch in 1990, but the project took him longer than he anticipated. He shelved the project in early 1991, ultimately circling back to it in September of that year.
Though he meant to record one more song for the album, Springsteen soon found himself with 10 brand new songs. He decided to put those tracks on a separate record, which eventually became Lucky Town.
Of the two albums, Human Touch was more commercially successful, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Lucky Town peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, with its lead single "Better Days" reaching number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Despite Human Touch performing better on the charts, Lucky Town was generally received better by critics.
At the time, Bill Wyman of The Chicago ReadercalledLucky Town “obviously the superior work” and “a much more interesting beast, primarily because of the potency of the first three numbers [which] could have made a respectable anchor to a strong album.“
Human Touch is also regarded as one of Springsteen's most inconsistent batch of songs, with fans noticing the absence of the E Street Band in favor of seasoned pros like bassist Randy Jackson and drummer Jeff Porcaro.
On Lucky Town, Springsteen played nearly all the instruments himself, with the exception of the drums.
Springsteen toured both albums from 1992 to 1993, but has rarely performed the songs from these records since then.

'Last Chance Kitchen' Spoilers: 'Top Chef' 23's First Two Chefs Battle Back
Top Chef: Carolinas finally sent its first two chefs to Last Chance Kitchen after sending the first two eliminated cheftestants straight home with no chance to battle their way back into the competition. So, which chef emerged victorious from the inaugural season 23 battle?
Spoilers ahead: This post discusses what happened on the first episode of Last Chance Kitchen for season 23. Don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

'Last Chance Kitchen's' First Face-OffThe first Last Chance Kitchen face-off came between Chef Nana Araba Wilmot of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, who was sent home last week, and Chef Brittany Cochran of Charlotte, North Carolina, who was sent home on the most recent Top Chef episode.
Ahead of the first battle, judge Tom Colicchio served them a delicious dish that consisted of braised red snapper with rosemary lemon vinaigrette and eggplant. He talked a lot about how he was classically French-trained, which, when he was younger, made him nervous to go back to his roots and cook Italian food. The ladies were excited, though obviously suspicious about why they weren't jumping right into their cook-off.
But Tom quickly explained that they were to prepare one plate of food that would showcase who they are as chefs and help them get back to basics.

Brittany made pan-seared halibut with grilled corn and tomato panzanella. Nana prepared pan-seared salmon with curry sauce and a tomato salad on top.
Tom liked both dishes, nobody put up a bad dish. He said of the food, "These are both really good. If you were cooking like this, you wouldn't be here right now," but in the end, he had to cut Brittany and kept Nana. Basically, it boiled down to Brittany not letting her bread chunks soak in all the delicious sauce because traditionally, that's what a panzanella salad does.

Nana Araba Wilmot: 1-0
Last Chance Kitchen drops on BravoTV.com immediately following each Top Chef episode on Monday nights at 10:45 p.m. ET, streaming the next day on Peacock.

What Were the Challenges on 'Top Chef' Season 23 Episode 4?Last year's winner Tristen Epps was on hand as the guest judge this week. The Quickfire Challenge tasked the chefs with creating a food flight using the Josh brand of wines as the inspiration. They had to use one red, one white and one rose and create a food flight, one dish to pair with each wine. They drew knives for their wine type and then had to split themselves into four groups of three that contained one of each wine type.
The groups were:
- Jennifer, Justin and Sieger
- Laurence, Rhoda and Sherry
- Anthony, Duyen and Jonathan
- Brittany, Oscar and Brandon
The winning team was the Blue Team (Jennifer, Justin and Sieger) with their egg dish flight. They won $15,000 to split.

The Elimination Challenge was based around traditional Southern side dishes: fried okra, hoe cakes, collard greens, potato salad, Charleston red rice, Hoppin' John and smothered cabbage.
They were tasked with each taking a side dish and turning it into an elevated main dish. They got to pick fresh, locally grown ingredients from nearby Deep Roots CPS Farm and were tasked with serving not only the judges' table but 40 other diners within a 90-minute window. Wow, that is tight.
The side dishes broke down thusly:
- Fried Okra: Sieger
- Hoe Cakes: Jonathan and Jennifer
- Collard Greens: Brittany and Anthony
- Potato Salad: Justin and Sherry
- Charleston Red Rice: Rhoda
- Hoppin' John: Laurence and Oscar
- Smothered Cabbage: Duyen and Brandon
Poor Brittany was using the steamer feature of the oven and discovered with about 19 minutes left to cook that her steamer wasn't on. Oof. She pivoted as best she could to a collard green wrap.
Related: Meet the Full Cast of ‘Top Chef’ Season 23
The best three dishes went to:
- Sieger with his braised okra and pork belly with seeded tempura for texture.
- Sherry with her marble potato salad with smoked trout, crispy potato chips and potato nage (nage is a light, aromatic broth).
- Laurence with his "Hoppin' Huang," a Chinese take on Hoppin' John with shitake mushrooms, butter beans and a cured egg yolk.
The winning dish went to Sieger—with OKRA, which regular Top Chef viewers know is one of Tom Colicchio's least favorite foods of all time and guest judge Tristen is also not a fan, so hats off to Sieger. He has immunity next week.
The three least successful dishes were:
- Anthony with his black eyed peas and ham fritter with braised collard greens and chadon beni sauce (a Caribbean sauce made with garlic, citrus, hot peppers and cilantro).
- Jennifer with her yeasted hoe cake with pot likker, butter beans, triple cream cheese and hot honey.
- Brittany with her collard green wrap with pork and fennel sausage inside on top of smoked tomato butter sauce.
Two of them (Anthony and Jennifer) got dinged for basically serving side dishes not main courses and both of their dishes were overly salty, while Brittany got dinged because her dish was just weird (but again, she had her issue with the steamer and had to pivot super last minute).
In the end, Brittany was sent home, which felt correct based on how the episode played out. But she's obviously a well-regarded chef and can maybe fight her way back from Last Chance Kitchen.
Top Chef airs Monday nights from 9:30 to 10:45 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. All season 23 episodes will be supersized to 75 minutes.
