The Most Powerful Zodiac Signs Ranked, According to Astrologers

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:41am

Every day worldwide, expert astrologers are eagerly asked, "Which zodiac signs are the most powerful?" What a loaded question! While some star signs are more likely to be more influential than others, every zodiac sign can be a strong force to be reckoned with in its unique ways.

According to professional astrologers, the most powerful zodiac signs can be ranked. Read on to discover where your star sign ranks from the most to least likely to be powerful.

The Most to Least Powerful, Influential Zodiac Signs

Read for your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. Your sun sign is significantly tied to your visibility, persona, and public image.

Pro Tip: Every zodiac sign possesses unique strengths and powers. We all have the ability to choose a confident and empowered lifestyle. While the following ranking of zodiac archetypes is helpful, it's important to remember that there's more to consider beyond just sun sign astrology. Your entire natal chart plays a significant role in determining your inner power and how you utilize its inherent energy. Astrology is a cosmic tool, not a set determination of your fate. Nonetheless, this guide can help you understand which zodiac signs are commonly associated with traits of power.

COSMIC CALLINGS: Your Birth Month Describes Your Soul’s Journey

Scorpio

Scorpios are known for their alluring presence. Part of their appeal is their dark mystery, reserved first impression, and intensity. This zodiac sign isn't afraid to make their passions known, heard, and, most of all, felt by everyone in the room. Sometimes, their aura can be intimidating to those caught off guard by their unfiltered attitude. Ruled by Pluto, the planet of transformation, this Water sign transmutes everything they touch.

Leo

Ruled by the Sun, Leo shines the brightest in any room they enter. People take notice of their presence and feel the light vanish when they make their exit. They are influential, whether people are akin to them or not. As Fire signs, they don't back down from wearing their heart on their sleeve, making their desires known, and eagerly pursuing whatever they long for until it's theirs.

EXPAND: 3 Most Lucky Zodiac Signs, According to Astrologers

Aries

A pioneer, Aries is a trailblazer. While many fall back into the background out of fear of opinions, this Fire sign stands on their truth. Authenticity allows them to navigate new and familiar situations with confidence, capability, and self-assuredness. While they may not be everyone's cup of bold tea, one thing is for sure: you cannot deny the Ram's headfirst approach and how successful it usually is.

Capricorn

While Capricorn may be more silent or reserved about their influence, it is evident. This Earth sign is mature, disciplined, and unwilling to budge on their intentions. No one can distract them from their integrity once they lock in on what they think is the right thing to do. There's a reason this zodiac sign is associated with worldly aims and success - Capricorn becomes a leader, guide, or mentor to many who look up to them.

Libra

Regardless of gender, Libra is associated with societal norms of feminine charm. They are diplomatic, alluring, and easy to like. This Air sign has the gift of gab, able to convince you to do what they want, all while making you feel as if it was your idea in the first place. Many underestimate their power. With exceptional social skills and the ability to mirror almost anyone, they tend to befriend influential people or be at the right place at the right time.

NEXT: How You're Spiritually Gifted, Based on Zodiac Sign

Taurus

Taurus tends to be successful in life, placing them in a decently high ranking in terms of influence. They are resourceful, mindful, and attuned to social and materialistic aims. Their charming, Venusian nature often grants them opportunities, as others find them warm, nurturing, and easy to get along with. While they can be stubborn at times, this allows them to stick to their goals for the long haul, while others give up.

Cancer

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which is associated with the collective's emotions. People easily project their innermost feelings onto this zodiac sign, making them appear relatable, reliable, and familiar. Even strangers feel as if they've crossed paths before. This intuitive Water sign can achieve greatness through empathy, reliability, and comforting presence. Their strong intuition makes them informed, even when it's not apparent to others.

FURTHER: 3 Zodiac Signs With a Rare Mix of Genius and Intuition

Gemini

Known as the jack of all trades of the zodiac, Gemini is intelligent. This star sign doesn't hesitate from a problem-solving challenge, leading them to collect many valuable skills. Associated with The Twins, this star sign is dualistic and can see the truth from multiple perspectives. Therefore, it's easy for them to make friends and connections and build affinity with even those who differ from them.

Virgo

Ruled by Mercury, the planet of intellect, makes Virgo eager to stimulate their mind intellectually. Therefore, they tend to be influential in strategy, data analysis, and the mundane details of life. With a strong work ethic, they tend to reach high in their professional goals. However, their focus on being of service can, at times, lead them to undermine their potential, lack boundaries, or give up before things get good.

Aquarius

Aquarius is a humanitarian eager to connect with the world at large. Their objective lens allows them to remain impartial and detached when emotions run high. Therefore, they can be skilled at meditation and conflict resolution. However, sometimes, their avoidance can prevent them from overcoming hurdles. They hold themselves back from growth when they turn the other cheek instead of confronting problems head-on.

NEXT: The Most Disliked Zodiac Signs (and Why They're Misunderstood) Ranked, According to Astrologers

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is a free spirit. Therefore, they tend not to be too concerned with influence or power. This Fire sign craves adventure above all else. While they spread positivity and good vibes wherever they go, they opt for a more noncommittal approach, taking things one moment at a time.

NEXT: These 4 Birth Months Transform Pain Into Pure Power

Pisces

While the rest of the world strives for power, Pisces seeks love, connection, and affinity above all else. This sensitive water sign doesn't often get lost in the ego. Therefore, they tend to find contentment in the simple things in life, such as reliable connections. Their gentle nature can lead them to wear rose-colored glasses, missing opportunities right before their face. Boundaries help them heal this dilemma.

You’re Definitely Touching the Germiest Part of the Airplane—Here’s What It Is

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:30am

I'll be honest: there is very little about an airplane or any public transportation that screams "clean" to me. Even if you think you've diligently avoided all of the typically gross areas like the bathroom, the truth is even the most innocuous surfaces can hide a lot of germs.

“Anything that people touch a lot is prone to getting contaminated because we carry a lot of germs on our hands,” Kelly Reynolds, a professor, environmental microbiologist, and public health researcher at the University of Arizona, recently toldReader's Digest.

Related: I Travel Every Month—These Are the Only Carry-On Essentials I Bring

And the place on a plane that carries the highest risk of sanitation issues you likely never thought twice about? The seatbelts. Both the fabric strap and metal buckle are high-touch and highly contaminated, and they are not the easiest surfaces to clean. Plus, they are often missed by cleaning crews.

“Any time you touch something that is a hot spot and then rarely clean, you should have the expectation that it’s going to harbor a lot of germs,” Reynolds reminds readers.

It's also fair to say that while the seatbelt buckle is easier to clean, the fabric strap could present an additional hurdle. Most airplane seatbelts are made of industrial-strength nylon or polyester. These are synthetic, relatively hydrophobic (water-repelling) fibers. A study recently determined that while bacteria may struggle to "soak" into hydrophobic fibers initially, once they do adhere, they can create stubborn colonies. If a seatbelt is synthetic, it may trap the oils from passengers' hands, providing the "food" (sebum) bacteria need to survive.

How Can You Protect Yourself from Germs?

While you might not be able to inspire the airlines to be more diligent, you can show up for yourself. Some of the best ways to combat this dirty area are:

  • Wipe it down: Make sure you thoroughly wipe the area with a disinfectant wipe. Be sure to include both the buckle and the straps. Then, use hand sanitizer to disinfect your own hands.
  • Avoid touching your face: The easiest way to keep yourself healthy post-flight is to keep bacteria away from your nose or mouth.
  • Choose a window seat: This could make a big difference. Studies show only 43% of window seat passengers left their seats during the flight, compared to 62% of middle seat passengers and 80% of aisle seat passengers, meaning they are inherently less "high-touch."

Germs are an inevitable part of life, but the last thing you want is to kick off a trip or end one on a sick note.

'40s Jazz Legend Released His Genre-Defining Studio Album 56 Years Ago Today

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:28am

Hailed as the most influential and acclaimed figure in the history of jazz in the 20th century, Miles Davis had more than a few outstanding hits. In 1970, the jazz trumpeter, composer, and band leader released his Grammy-winning studio album, which marks 56 years since its inspiring release.

Recorded in mid August 1969, Davis created a studio album that would receive a mixed critical response, but became an overall commercial success. Columbia Records released the hit album Bitches Brew on March 30, 1970. It became a continuation of Davis's innovative style and experimentation with electronic instruments that was first heard in his previous album, In a Silent Way.

The album was a deviation from Davis's usual style and dipped its toes into the influence of the rock genre during the time period. While the album wasn't initially well-received, it has gained traction years later for being one of the greatest jazz albums that was a progenitor of the jazz rock genre. Davis and record producer Tero Macera were reported to have used the studio in "radical" ways with special effects, editing, tape loops, and more to create a unique sound.

Bitches Brew had six different tracks on a total of four sides, with hits like "Pharaoh's Dance," "Bitches Brew," "Spanish Key," "John McLaughlin," "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down," and "Sanctuary." The album included an array of artists, some were part of Davis's main group, like Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Bennie Maupin, and included Chick Corea, Joe Zaqinul and more.

For Davis, the album became his highest-charting success on the Billboard 200 at No. 35. It also landed at No.1 on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums chart and No. 4 on the R&b/Hip-Hop Album charts. It also won him a Grammy for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album and landed him his first-ever certified Gold album by the RIAA.

The album has sold over one million copies since its release, and was tagged by musicians for having resurrected jazz into mainstream popularity during the '70s. It opened the eyes of music producers to the success the genre could once again achieve and was reported to be one of the "most remarkable creative statements of the last half-century."

Bitches Brew received one of the ultimate honors and was selected in 2025 by the Library of Congress to be preserved by the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

This Novel Turned Into the Popular 2007 Movie Turns 25 This Year

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:22am

Cast your mind back to 2007. It’s been almost 20 years since Keira Knightly and James McAvoy stole our hearts with a heartbreaking story. That movie was based on the novel Atonement by Ian McEwan, and it reaches a major milestone this year.

Atonement turns 25 in 2026, and it was quickly named one of Time magazine’s 100 greatest novels in the English language since 1923. It wasn’t surprising to see it land on the Booker Prize for fiction list in 2001 and land a movie adaptation within six years.

‘Atonement’ Tells a Story of What Could Have Been

Told over the course of three time periods, we get a story of what could have been. It all starts in 1935 England, where a young girl makes a mistake that changes the course of multiple lives. Had she been honest with both herself and the police, the events that would lead to her sister Cecilia and the former housekeeper’s son, Robbie, being separated would have never happened.

As the story progresses, Briony writes about the events that happened throughout her life, giving us a sense of hope. The two end up finding each other again, and they get the relationship that they always wanted.

That is, until we get to the end. In a shocking turn of events, we learn that the reunion was all in Briony’s head. It’s her attempt to atone for the things that she did in the past, for the lies that she told and the mistakes that she made. Within the story of what could have been, we get a story of heartbreak, leading to some mixed feelings about the author of the tale.

The Debate Over the Ending

As Atonement was released, McEwan faced criticism over his novel. One reason was due to the ending, which led to questions about whether Briony had atoned for her sins by sending an innocent man to prison.

Arguably, this could be seen as a good thing. It shows how stories can be changed, how the ending is always told by the victor. Authors have a duty to tell the truth, but the reveal at the end of Atonement shows that they don’t.

In the end, Atonement was quickly picked up and turned into a movie. The 2007 movie of the same name kept much of the story the same, especially the twist at the end, as we learned what really happened to Robbie and Cecilia.

Usha Vance Talks Pregnancy and Parenting as the VP’s Wife in New Interview

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:15am

The Second Lady, Usha Vance, just opened up in a new interview about pregnancy, parenting, and her new podcast for children. The wife of Vice PresidentJ.D. Vance is currently pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. And that makes her part of the first vice-presidential family to have a baby while in office in well over 100 years. Yes, that’s right—the birth of baby boy Vance this coming July will be the first for a sitting VP since 1870!

The lawyer and mom to three, eight-year-old Ewan, six-year-old Vivek, and four-year-old Mirabel, recently sat down with NBC News’ Kate Snow to talk about her family, her newest venture, and life in the White House. When Snow asked Vance how her pregnancy is going this time around, the Second Lady candidly answered, “There’s some differences obviously. I have to dress up a lot more. My last pregnancy, there were a lot of sweatpants.”

Vance went on to discuss how she adds some normalcy to her family’s lives, saying, “If I wear my jeans and a t-shirt and pull my hair up and go to the grocery store or go to the library, maybe someone will notice, but for the most part I can do these kinds of things.” When Snow seemed somewhat shocked and asked, “You can just walk out the door and go to a grocery store?” Vance replied, “We do that. We have our neighborhood shops and our Costco membership.” Wait, the Second Lady shops at Costco? Maybe she is just a regular mom like us.

The Yale-educated lawyer also opened up about work and having a family. Snow noted that Vance stopped working in 2024 when her husband, J.D. Vance, was chosen for the role of Vice President. When asked if she missed her former life as a lawyer and whether she would go back to it, the soon-to-be mom of four explained, “Oh, certainly. It was disorienting at first to lose that…But it was an opportunity. There are things that I really care about and want to do, and when the time comes, I mean, I do intend to work.”

Even though she doesn’t have plans to return to the legal field anytime soon, Vance is starting a new book-based “Storytime” podcast for children that she calls “Sort of just an advertisement for reading.”

So why did Vance choose to start her podcast right now? She went on to say, “I have a long-standing interest in education. It seemed like a really natural fit because we have young children…As I was teaching them to read, I was starting to see some statistics about the decline in literacy rates, and this is a long-term trend and worrisome.” Vance’s “Storytime with the Second Lady” just launched, but already has three episodes, including a dramatic reading of a Disney fan favorite by racecar driver Danica Patrick

Bob Dylan Reveals Bizarre New Career Move That Has Fans Aksing ‘What?’

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:15am

Bob Dylanhas a Patreon, and fans have one reaction: What are you thinking, Bob?

Patreon, for those who don’t know, is a subscription platform meant to help out creative folks. It’s a play on the term “patron of the arts.” Fans pay a monthly fee to financially support their favorite creatives, such as writers, comic artists, musicians, and video content creators. This pledge usually grants users access to special perks, like behind-the-scenes breakdowns, bonus comics, personalized chats, and more.

Those who sign up for Bob Dylan’s Patreon expecting to hear unreleased demos or get his insights on records like Blonde on Blonde or Highway 61 Revisited will be sorely disappointed: for $5 a month, you can hear Lectures From The Grave, Bob Dylan’s historical fan-fiction.

Dylan announced this new venture on March 29, posting an image to his Instagram Story. The flyer advertised “The Dead speak” with “featured lectures” from Aaron Burr (“On the Art of Survival”), The Last Will and Testament of Frank James (a Civil War outlaw and the older brother to outlaw Jesse James), and the life and death of Wild Bill Hickok.

The “Dead Speak” series is historical fiction, with AI voices as narrators. There are also “Letters Never Sent,” fictional letters from historical figures. One of the first letters, credited to “Herbert Foster,” details Mark Twain writing to Italian silent cinema star Rudolph Valentino.

Dylan has previewed these AI “lectures” on his Instagram in recent months. “I love you, Bob, but someone really needs to take your phone away from you,” commented one fan on a snippet of the Wild Bill lecture in February. “Bro, no one has time for this,” wrote another fan on a clip of the Aaron Burr “lecture” that Dylan posted in September.

In May 2025, Dylan posted a trio of clips titled “Al Capone in his own words." A few months prior, Dylan shared "Edgar Allen Poe speaks from the grave." These might clue fans in on what's coming next on Dylan's Patreon.

View this post on Instagram

In addition to the fictional Twain letter and the three “Dead Speak” essays, Dylan’s Patreon has a short story called “Bull Rider” (credited to “Marty Lombard”) and a post with a YouTube video of Mahalia Jackson performing on The Ed Sullivan Show.

As of the time of publication, Dylan’s Patreon has roughly 1.4k members.

Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, credited with creating “new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” In 1964, he released Tarantula, an experimental novel. He has published multiple collections of his lyrics, his memoir (Chronicles: Volume One), and The Philosophy of Modern Song, a collection of essays on popular songs.

These 4 Birth Months Transform Pain Into Pure Power

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:11am

Everyone faces tough times, but some individuals have an extraordinary ability to work through their experiences and transform them into personal growth. In astrology, this resilience can be reflected in the energy associated with their birth month. The time of year in which you’re born can influence how you handle challenges, process pain, and ultimately move forward in life. Here are the four birth months that are particularly known for turning pain into power. Each month carries its own unique strength, shaped by the energy of that time of year. This strength manifests in how challenges are confronted, how experiences are processed, and how life moves forward. Those born in these months possess an innate ability to work with their circumstances and transform them into opportunities for growth.

Which Birth Months Turn Pain Into Power?

Check for your birth month. Disregard your birth date.

April

People born in April often possess a strong sense of determination that enables them to overcome challenges quickly. Whether they are pioneering Aries or practical Taurus, they embody a combination of initiative and resilience that manifests in their approach to setbacks. They demonstrate a willingness to try again, adapt their strategies, and persevere, even when initial attempts fail. Over time, this resilience fosters a confidence that comes from experience. They have learned to recover, adjust, and rebuild, which influences their future endeavors. This quality also reflects in their relationships, as they tend to be direct, grounded, and clear about their desires, leading to stronger and more meaningful connections.

Those born in July tend to learn from their mistakes and strive not to repeat them. Additionally, July birthdays are known for being fiercely protective of themselves. October

People born in October are either Libras, who have a deep awareness of relationships, or Scorpios, who carry profound emotional depth. Individuals born in this month tend to be highly attuned to the dynamics between themselves and others. They quickly notice shifts in tone, effort, and balance, and they don’t ignore it when something feels off. This heightened awareness can feel intense, but it sharpens their judgment over time. They learn to recognize what is genuine, what isn’t, and what they are no longer willing to tolerate. With experience, they become more selective about whom they invest in and more honest about their expectations in return. As a result, their relationships become more direct and reciprocal. They are willing to step away from dynamics that don’t meet their needs, and this clarity shapes the way they move forward.

December embodies the expansive vision of Sagittarius and the practical discipline of Capricorn, allowing individuals born in this month to transform their adversities into valuable experiences. With their innate ability to understand different perspectives, they don’t linger in pain for long; instead, they feel a natural pull towards the future and new possibilities. Their resilience drives them to keep going, allowing them to rebuild, and their discipline helps them create something solid from their experiences.

'Hollyoaks' Confirms Rebecca Ryan’s Surprising Connection to the Village

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:02am

After months of speculation and fan theories, Hollyoaks has confirmed who Rebecca Ryan will be playing, and her surprising connection to the village.

In the show’s spring trailer, viewers see Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) come face-to-face with Ryan’s character in a hospital bed, before he reveals that she is his daughter, Beth.

Bethany “Beth” Johnson, is the biological daughter of Jack and Dawn Cunningham (Lisa Williamson). Jack  was initially unaware of her existence until Beth developed kidney failure and required a transplant, one that Jack was able to provide.

When the truth was publicly revealed by Dawn’s sister Jude, the fallout was significant. Jack’s then-wife, Celia (Carol Noakes), left town with their son Darren (Adam Booth), upending his family life.

Beth later arrived in the village in 2004, where she reunited with members of her biological family, including meeting her half-brother Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) for the first time and reconnecting with her uncle Max Cunningham (Matt Littler).

Most recently, Jack last reconnected with Beth off-screen following the death of his then wife, Frankie (Helen Pearson) in 2017.

In the present day, Beth returns to Hollyoaks village, having decided to move there permanently with her husband, Jonah (former Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden) and their son played by former Coronation Street star Lewis Walton.

The soap has also confirmed that singer Sam Meyer, known for participating in Simon Cowell: The Next Act, will portray the fourth member of the Keane family, expected to arrive on the soap opera later this year.

Ryan is an established television actress, having worked professionally since 2001. Her credits include Debbie Gallagher in Shameless, Vicki MacDonald in Waterloo Road, Gemma Dean in Casualty and most recently Lydia Chambers in Coronation Street.

For her portrayal of Lydia, she received a nomination for Best Villain at the 2022 Inside Soap Awards.

He Voiced Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters—Now He’s Headlining Netflix’s Next Rom-Com

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 10:01am

For many, the names in the credits of KPop Demon Hunters are new, but most of the actors who voiced the characters in the global animated hit film already had successful onscreen careers either in the U.S. or in Korea or both prior to the global success of KPop Demon Hunters. Ken Jeong, who voiced Bobby, the manager of Huntrix, is a well known actor here in the U.S. Daniel Dae Kim (Healer Han) and Yunjin Kim (Celine) starred as husband and wife Jin-Soo and Sun-Hwa Kwon on Lost. Yunjin Kim has also appeared in several Korean projects as well as Season 1 of XO, Kitty.

So it's not surprising that Ahn Hyo-seop, who voiced Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters, has had a successful career in Korean television and is much sought after in the industry over there. His turn in 2022's Business Proposal helped to make it one of Netflix's more popular international rom-com series. With more interest in Asian cultures breaking into the mainstream, hopefully we'll see Ahn in more predominant and widespread projects in the future. His next project is a new KDrama called Sold Out on You premiering next month. Read on for more about the upcoming Netflix series.

Emily Henry’s Popular 2025 Release Is Finally Arriving in Paperback

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:52am

If you’re one of those who prefer paperback to hardback, that’s understandable. Paperbacks are easier to hold, lighter to carry, and tend to be easier to fit on the shelves. You may have been waiting for Emily Henry’s Great Big Beautiful Life to come to paperback, and now the wait is almost over.

Great Big Beautiful Life was released in April 2025, so the wait for the paperback isn’t all that long. The push is on the hardback sales at first. Of course, not only have we been waiting for a paperback release, but we’ve also been waiting for news on this one being adapted into a movie.

‘Great Big Beautiful Life’ by Emily Henry Coming to Paperback

Last year, Great Big Beautiful Life debuted on the New York Times bestseller list in the #1 position and spent an impressive 17 weeks on the list. It wasn’t surprising to see it picked up by Reese’s Book Club, and of course, the eyes were on when the trade paperback would be released.

The good news is that it’s soon. Get May 17, 2026, in your diary.

The good news is that the cover hasn’t changed between the two releases, so if you are a hardback fan, there’s no need to worry about adding another version to your collection. There’s no doubt that we love adding the different cover types to our shelves! It also continues to fit the styles of all of Henry’s other beach reads.

Penguin Random House

4 Emily Henry Books Coming as Movies After ‘People We Meet on Vacation’

Henry’s name is certainly everywhere right now. The “queen of beach reads” has just had her book People We Meet on Vacation adapted into a movie, which is now available on Netflix. There are four more to come, and while Great Big Beautiful Life isn’t on the list just yet, we expect to see it soon!

Look out for Beach Read, Book Lovers, Happy Place, and Funny Story. As of now, Beach Read is the only one with a lead attached to the project, with Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor in the role of January Andrews. The others are still in early development stages.

Great Big Beautiful Life is one of the newer novels, so it’s not surprising that it hasn’t been picked up yet. With the success of People We Meet on Vacation and the hype around Beach Read, we can only hope!

The Classic ‘70s Toy Every Little Girl Wanted—Fans Still Talk About It 50 Years Later

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:48am

The 1970s were known for some of the most iconic toys in history. Barrel of Monkeys, Stretch Armstrong, G.I. Joe’s adventure team, Easy-Bake Oven, and Lite-Brite were just a few of the toys that defined the decade.

But for many children, the dream toy was Crissy. The 18-inch fashion doll with flowing red hair was first developed by the Ideal Toy Corporation in 1968. According to the Strong National Museum of Play, the doll’s hair was adjustable and could be worn short or pulled to a longer length. The hair would "rewind" to its shorter length via a small knob on the doll’s back.  The original Crissy doll’s hair could be pulled all the way down to her ankles.

Crissy became even more popular in the early ‘70s when her slightly shorter, blonde cousin, Velvet, was introduced. The mechanism to adjust the length of Velvet and Crissy’s hair was patented by Ideal in 1972, per Toy Tales.

Crissy was no Barbie, but she had just as many friends

Doll historian Beth Colvin, author of Crissy and Her Friends: A  Guide for Collectors, shared on her website that when the Crissy doll was created by Ideal, it wasn’t meant to compete with Mattel's already successful line of 11.5-inch Barbie dolls, thus its larger size.

The initial Crissy line was available from 1969 to 1974, and, in addition to Velvet, later included new friends named Kerry, Brandi, Tressy, Mia, Cricket, Tara, and more.

Other versions of Crissy included “Movin… Groovin… Crissy,” and "Beautiful Crissy" with a Swirla-curler.  In addition, Talky Crissy and Talky Velvet not only talked, but each came with their own set of curlers, ribbons, bobby pins, and a brush, as seen in a vintage commercial advertising the product. The Crissy and Velvet phenomenon was also promoted on The Dean Martin Show in a segment with young guest Laurie Ichino.

A few other incarnations of the beloved dolls came out in the late 1970s and early 80s, including a Country Fashion Crissy.

After a series of mergers, Ideal became part of the Mattel family in 1997, per The New York Times, but by that time, Crissy was long out of production.

Fans still talk about Crissy decades later

More than 50 years after the Crissy and Velvet dolls were first introduced, fans still talk about them online. In a retro-themed Reddit subreddit, fans described the fashionistas as “very much the precursor to the American Girl dolls.”

“I loved my Crissy! A redhead, like me! That’s the first doll with red hair I remember seeing,” one fan wrote.

“I got Crissy for Christmas when I was nine and she was my all-time favorite doll!” another wrote.

“I had Velvet! My mom would sew outfits for her!” a third chimed in.

“I had Crissy and Velvet. Somehow Crissy’s hair got all raggedy, but Velvet’s stayed silky and shiny so I played with her most,” another wrote.

“I  had them both, I used to practice braiding on their hair,” added another fan.

A few fans recalled misunderstanding how to play with the dolls.

“My sister and I had these dolls. My sister cut Velvet's hair and thought it would grow back, lol!” another Reddit user recalled.

“I got a Crissy doll from Santa Christmas morning, and by noon had cut off all her hair, then got upset because all the commercials said she had ‘hair that grows’ so was expecting it to all grow back,” another admitted.

Gina Gershon Rejected Major Horror Franchise Over Topless Scene: 'Exploitation 101'

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:40am

Not all major lead roles are meant to be, especially for Gina Gershon, who would have made her film debut in one of Hollywood's biggest horror franchises. Looking back on the start of her career, she turned down Friday the 13th Part 2 due to a topless scene she found "silly."

By the '80s, slasher horror was on the rise, and big box office hits like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and killers like Jason Voorhees. WhileJamie Lee Curtis cemented herself as the scream queen, Gershon was also given the chance at horror icon status but rejected the offer.

The Showgirls star told Fox News Digital that she was offered the lead in the second installment of Friday the 13th, "And, of course, I was so excited to act in movies, but it definitely felt kind of exploitative to me and a little silly that right before she gets killed, her top has to come off."

Slasher horror or horror in general isn't scared to show some nudity or love-making scenes before the killer rips them apart. While it was common during the time, Gershon felt it wasn't worth it for her character.

"At the time, those kinds of slasher movies always had girls dying with their breasts exposed," she wrote in her memoir AlphaPussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs. "My character would be killed by a stake through the heart, blood dripping down her t---. That seemed pretty lame to me: exploitation 101."

Related: Bruce Willis’s Mother Receives Special Recognition From the LAPD: ‘This is My Family’

Gershon added that she had nothing against nudity and even "grew up on European films." In the end, the actor simply wasn't comfortable at the time and felt nudity was only acceptable, "if it makes sense for the character and the story. But when it just seems silly, I don’t know. It just felt like it was something that wasn’t for me."

For the actor, she had to trust her gut feeling and even asked her father what he thought about the matter. Instead of lashing out, saying she couldn't do a nude scene, he simply said it was her choice and her body. Looking at Friday the 13th Part 2, the role Gershon rejected likely went to actor Kirsten Baker.

Gershon would ultimately still make her big-screen debut as a dancer in Beatlemania: The Movie. She later appeared in Pretty in Pink and got recognition for her roles in Sweet Revenge, Red Heat, and Cocktail. Her biggest career hits were the 1995 movie Showgirls and Bound.

Fran Drescher Reunites With 'Nanny' Co-Star Charles Shaughnessy: 'Y’all Haven’t Aged At All'

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:37am

It was date night for Fran Fine and Mr. Sheffield at the theater this weekend.

In a sweet photo posted to Instagram on Sunday,Nanny icon Fran Drescher shared a snap of her and longtime co-star Charles Shaughnessy as the two attended the premiere of "Somebody to Love," a musical written by Rob Sternin and Prudence Fraser, who were also executive producers and writers on the beloved sitcom.

"Twas great as always to see my dear Charles Shaughnessy as well as other The Nanny alumni! GO!" Drescher wrote in her caption recapping the show.

View this post on Instagram

However fans were simply struck by seeing the two together, and couldn't get over how youthful they looked.

"What’s up Miss Fine and Mr. Sheffield! Y’all haven’t aged at all, the years have been so good to you both!" one commenter added.

"She’s still 29," another wrote. "Good for her and he looks amazing."

"Omg! I love this photo so much!!! @officialfrandrescher @charlesshaughnessy you both look fantastic!!" a third said. "Love you both so much. Brings back so much nostalgia and memories! Fran and Maxwell back together again!! Love it!!"

"You both look amazing!!!!!" said another agreed, saying the two are "aging like fine wine."

Other fans though, were quick to comment asking when the two would be reuniting on screen.

"Reboot WHEN??????? We need to see Max & Fran as grandparents," one suggested.

"Can we get a reboot? Would love to see Ms Fine & Mr Sheffield 20 years later," agreed another.

"I think we are due for a reboot," another simply said.

The likelihood of the show returning in a reboot format may not be very high as Drecsher, who recently starred in Oscar-nominated film 'Marty Supreme,' said she didn't enjoy her last sitcom role.

“You know, it’s just the idea of going into the soundstage every day,” she said. “The last one that I did wasn’t my show. I played the mom in it, and I really didn’t… I loved the people, but I didn’t enjoy the experience that much because we were shooting it over the winter months.”

While she didn't name the show specifically, it's possible she's alluding to the 2020 series Indebted where she played a mom.

"I felt like I could’ve been doing other things during my day,” she said.

1973: Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s Split Had the Whole World Talking

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:31am

In 1973, no celebrity breakup captured more attention than Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla Presley.

The couple announced their separation in 1972 after a five-year marriage. However, their romance spanned even longer, over 14 years in total.

Their split dominated the tabloids, which made claims as to why their relationship ended. Some blamed Presley, while others painted Priscilla as the villain.

So what happened between Presley and his wife that led to their split? Here are the details.

Elvis and Priscilla Met in 1959 Bettmann/Getty Images

The couple met in 1959 when Elvis Presley was 24 and Priscilla Beaulieu was 14. He was mourning the loss of his mother, Gladys Presley, when the two met in Germany during his Army tour of duty, per Biography.

Presley tried to ease the concerns of Priscilla's stepfather, Paul Beaulieu, about his interest in his daughter. He told the Army captain, “Well, sir, I happen to be very fond of her. She’s a lot more mature than her age, and I enjoy her company.”

Priscilla discussed the early days of their relationship with The Hollywood Reporter. "It was a different time. I lived in his world. I wanted to please him. I wanted to fit in. I wanted to have fun with him. I wanted to see what it was that he liked.”

After he left Germany, Priscilla's parents were said to have told her that her fling with Presley was over. However, after settling back into life in Memphis, Tennessee, he began calling her and soon, she visited Graceland.

By the time she was 17, Priscilla had moved into Presley’s home, beginning a relationship filled with love and laughter, but also marked by insecurity and Presley’s infidelities. PEOPLE Magazinereported in 2024 that Priscilla stated, "Whether he was going on tour or going to Palm Springs or Vegas, obviously I know there are other things going on as well."

"That made me realize that things go on. Listen, there was him and four or five of his guys who were always together, so they’re men, right? And they were all married and they were all fooling around," she continued.

"I mean, the opportunities were there constantly," Priscilla concluded. "Constantly. Even when he would go on the road in other states, they knew he was coming, and they were making offers. He was Elvis Presley, and every woman, every girl, went after him. I can see being him, how he would take it.”

Priscilla documented many of her feelings about that difficult time in an autobiography, Elvis and Me. This bestseller was made into a movie, Priscilla, in 2023.

Despite these relationship issues, the couple became engaged and married in May 1967. Nine months to the day of their marriage, they welcomed their only child, a daughter named Lisa Marie Presley.

Elvis and Priscilla's split made headlines

In a 1973 interview with Ladies' Home Journal, Priscilla Presley discussed her split from Elvis Presley.

At that time, Presley was always on the road, and Priscilla was left alone with Lisa Marie for weeks on end. She told the publication, "Someone once said in jest that I should see other men, simply as friends, and that it would take my mind off being alone. But when you're married, you just don't date other men."

"In mid-1972, I finally realized that things were not going to change. We had separate lives completely," she explained. The couple then announced their separation.

She didn't start dating karate instructor Mike Stone until after splitting from Elvis. In turn, he began dating Linda Thompson.

Contrary to scandalous tabloid rumors of a hostile split, the couple famously left the Santa Monica courthouse arm-in-arm in late 1973, smiling and holding hands, having agreed to a friendly, amicable separation.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley continued to co-parent Lisa Marie Presley until Elvis' death in August 1977. Lisa Marie died in 2023. Priscilla Presley has never remarried, telling PEOPLE Magazine, "I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire,” she said. “No one could ever match him.”

'Game of Thrones' Star Injured, Pausing New 'Tomb Raider' Series Production

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 9:21am

Sophie Turner fans, Game of Thrones die-hards and video gamers at large are simply counting the days until the new Tomb Raider series premieres.

Unfortunately, filming has faced a minor hiccup and was just halted, Deadline reports.

“Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury,” Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement to Deadline. “As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”

It's unclear whether Turner suffered the injury on set. According to sources, the shutdown is expected to last two weeks, and the crew will be paid during it, Deadline also noted on Sunday, March 29.

Tomb Raider is an adaptation of the popular video game franchise about the adventures of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. Turner is joined in the cast by other big names such as Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs.

Back in January, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios released a first-look image of Turner donned as Croft while the show was in production. Fans flooded the studios' Instagram post's comments section with support for Turner’s look in the upcoming show. “OH MY GOD! SHE LOOKS PERFECT! I didn’t expected they would go with a look so classic!” wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, “Not gonna lie she looks perfect.”

The first Tomb Raider game was released in 1996, launching the Croft character to stardom as a female action icon. The most recent game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, hit shelves in 2018, and two new installments — Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst — are slated for 2026 and 2027, respectively, Variety reports.

Turner famously played Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones. Earlier in January, the English actress revealed in a new interview that she was pleased with her character’s fate by the end HBO’s hit fantasy series — but that she was one of the only actors to feel that way. Learn more here.

From Texas to Maine People Might Need To Be Very Worried About Hurricanes This Summer— Is Your State at Risk?

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 8:37am

As summer approaches, meteorologists are already sounding the alarm: the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season could bring serious risks across a wide stretch of the United States, from Texas all the way up to Maine. While early forecasts don’t point to a record-breaking year, experts warn that this season may be deceptively dangerous, especially for travelers and coastal communities.

What’s Coming This Hurricane Season

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30, with peak activity typically occurring between August and October. Forecasts suggest a “near-normal” season, but that doesn’t mean it's safe. In fact, predictions indicate anywhere from 11 to 16 named storms, including several hurricanes and a handful of major ones.

Even more concerning: multiple storms could make direct impacts on the United States, with the Gulf Coast, Southeast, and parts of the East Coast all in the potential path. From Florida and Texas to the Carolinas, and occasionally even farther north, no coastal region is entirely off the radar.

And here’s the key takeaway: it only takes one storm to turn a “normal” season into a devastating one.

Why 2026 Could Still Be Risky

One of the biggest factors shaping this year’s forecast is a developing El Niño weather pattern. Typically, El Niño helps suppress hurricane activity by increasing wind shear in the Atlantic, which can disrupt storm formation, but 2026 isn’t that simple.

Meteorologists are watching a transition from La Niña to a potentially strong El Niño, with some models suggesting an 80–90% chance it develops later in the summer. While that might reduce the total number of storms, it can also create unpredictable conditions, especially early in the season.

At the same time, unusually warm ocean waters remain a major concern. Warm water acts like fuel for hurricanes, increasing the risk of rapid intensification, where a storm strengthens dramatically in a short period of time.

This combination: fewer storms, but potentially stronger and faster-developing ones, is exactly why experts are urging caution.

Related: Why This Major Hotel Chain Is Offering to Pay for Your Teenager’s Vacation This Summer

Where to Watch Closely

Forecast models are already highlighting a few “hot spots” for 2026. These include:

  • The Gulf Coast, particularly Texas through Florida
  • The Southeast coastline, including Georgia and the Carolinas
  • Parts of the Mid-Atlantic, with storms sometimes tracking farther north

Even areas that don’t typically see direct hits, like the Northeast, can still experience heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds from weakening but still dangerous systems.

What Travelers Need to Know

If you’re planning summer or early fall travel, hurricanes don’t mean you need to cancel your plans, but they do mean you should plan smarter.

  • First, timing matters. The early part of the season (June and July) is generally quieter, while peak risk ramps up from August through October. If you’re heading to hurricane-prone destinations, earlier travel dates may carry less risk.
  • Second, flexibility is key. Booking refundable accommodations or travel insurance can make a huge difference if a storm suddenly develops. With rapid intensification becoming more common, storms can escalate with little warning.
  • Third, stay informed. Forecasting tools are improving, including new updates from the National Hurricane Center designed to better communicate storm paths and inland risks. Checking weather updates regularly, especially in the days leading up to your trip, is essential.
Keeping It in Perspective

It’s easy to focus on storm counts, but numbers don’t tell the whole story. A below-average season can still produce catastrophic hurricanes, while an active season might spare major population centers. That’s why experts continue to emphasize preparedness over prediction. Whether you live along the coast or are just visiting, awareness is your best defense.

The 2026 hurricane season may not look extreme on paper, but the underlying conditions suggest it shouldn’t be underestimated. With warm waters, shifting climate patterns, and the potential for fast-developing storms, travelers and residents alike should stay alert.

Rapper Fat Joe Looks Incredible as He Lights up the Stage After Dropping 250 Pounds

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 8:14am

Fat Joe is performing better than ever after dropping 250 pounds.

The talented rapper, 55, best known for hits like “Lean Back” and “What’s Luv?”, previously weighed as much as 470 pounds. But after undergoing a lifestyle transformation, the musical icon is looking like a new person. He just hit the stage during the "Thank You, NYPD" campaign concert at Madison Square Garden this past weekend, and shocked attendees with his svelte appearance.

What Made Fat Joe Decide to Lose Weight?

The loss of his best friendBig Pun, from a heart attack in his 20s was a shocking revelation for Joe about how his future could end up if he didn’t change his habits.

‘ “I went to his funeral and I felt like Ebenezer Scrooge. Like, I seen me,” he told Men’s Health in 2023. “And I’m looking at his little daughter. She was the same age as my daughter. I said, ‘You gotta lose weight; otherwise you outta here.'”

It also kicked off a period of major depression for the rapper.

“That’s what depression was like to me,” he continued. “When you’re fighting yourself, there isn’t a wall high enough that you can build. There isn’t an island you can go to. There isn’t a place you can go to where you get away from it, because you’re fighting your mind. You wake up, and then the minute you think about it, your brain sends you a message to say, ‘We’re not supposed to be happy.’ And then you fall right back into depression.”

How Did Fat Joe Lose the Weight?

When Joe decided to make changes, he knew he had to overhaul his habits.

“We just try to eat everything with the least carbs as possible,” Joe told Us Weekly last year. “So we try to stay away from the bread, the pasta, the rice. That’s the smartest way to eat.”

He went on to say that portion control is the most important lesson, so he still eats carbs in moderation.

“Like this morning, I ate breakfast, I had this toast. I cut the corner off, ate it and kept it moving,” he shared. “Normally I would’ve ate the whole thing. But you know, that’s what we do. We cut carbs and try to be smarter.”

He also takes Ozempic to treat his diabetes, which helps keep him in check.

“Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” he continued.

Will Fat Joe Finally Change His Name?

Don’t expect Fat Joe to be changing his name to “Slim Joe” anytime soon. The rapper says that a switch-up wouldn’t be okay with his wife, Lorena Cartagena.

“My wife would kill me. She likes me being a big boy,” Joe added. “She hallucinates like I’m still that big boy. She loves that.”
