The Best Songs From 'Love Island USA' Season 8 and How to Stream Them

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 7:30pm

Let’s get real here, you don’t watch Love Island USA for the soundtrack. But that doesn’t mean the music won’t somehow creep into your mind.

You’re glued to your TV, laptop, or tablet, unable to tear your eyes away from the drama that only a raunchy reality series packed with hook-ups, verbal smackdowns, and plenty of tea could deliver. And while the Casa Amor recoupling or sudden, unexpected exits are the pull, like any other show, the music makes a major (if not subtly subliminal) difference in how you view the action.

How does the ‘Love Island USA’ production team choose music for the reality show?

Unlike scripted TV, the soundtrack isn’t scored specifically for the show or planned in advance of filming. But that doesn’t mean the team waits until the last minute to pick and choose songs. Instead, they take a proactive approach that leaves room for interpretation and provides options for almost every possible scenario.

Last year, Love Island USA executive producer James Barker told Rolling Stone, “We work to get hundreds ot sometimes thousands of songs ready to go, because we don't know where the story’s going. ‘OK, this track is going to be great for when somebody eventually breaks up with somebody, or this track is going to be the perfect first-kiss song when that comes up.”

Barker added, “It’s all based on the feeling and the lyrical content and just making sure that in our minds, whatever story could come of Love Island, that we have something locked and ready to go for that.”

What songs are on ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8?

The list is long. Each episode features more than a few tunes. But if you’re interested in the best of the best, here’s a sampling of a few fan favorites from the first few episodes of Season 8:

2026 Hollywood Breakout Star Walked Dogs to Pay Rent Before ‘Obsession’ Became a Super Hit

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 6:49pm

Inde Navarrette may be one of horror's biggest breakout stars today, but not long ago, she was wondering when her next acting job would come.

The actor broke out as Nikki Freeman in Obsession, the supernatural horror hit that turned into one of 2026's biggest surprises. According to Box Office Mojo, the film has defied all expectations, grossing roughly $339 million worldwide against a reported production budget of just $750,000. Amid that runaway success, social media is now flooded with Obsession fan theories, Nikki edits, and praise for the performance that made Navarrette a household name. But that recognition didn't happen overnight.

After filming wrapped, Navarrette hit a rough patch, a stretch she recently opened up about in an interview with Complex.

"I didn't work for a year and a half after Obsession," she said. "I was auditioning, I was doing everything, just nothing was sticking. I wanted to pay rent and I wanted to do things. So I was walking dogs, I was streaming, doing everything I could."

Getting the part was a climb of its own. Navarrette described the casting process as a true roller coaster, one that included a Zoom read that nearly cost her the role.

"The audition process for Obsession was so crazy," she told the outlet. "I sent in a tape, they liked it, I went in for a Zoom read, it was awful. Because I felt like I knew where I wanted to take it but my body just wasn't reacting. I think I was in a space personally where I was so shut off from my own emotions, and with Nikki, you need all of them."

One final chance turned everything around. "Then you have the opportunity for the chemistry read, which was the third and final thing," she continued. "I was like 'If I have this opportunity, I'm doing everything that I possibly can,' then I left feeling proud that I did it, and then I felt even more excited when I got the phone call that I got it."

These days, audiences cannot get enough of her. Long before Obsession, Navarrette streamed titles like Call of Duty, Halo, Red Dead Redemption, and Fallout, and even assembled her own gaming PC during the pandemic.

Curious new fans have started combing through Navarrette's old livestreams, sending view counts climbing on clips of her playing The Last of Us long before Hollywood took notice.

Born Danielle Fabiola Navarrette on March 3, 2001, the actor picked up the nickname "Inde" early in life. In a conversation with USA Today, she revealed that her mother started calling her that because she was such a fiercely independent child, and the name stuck, eventually becoming her professional identity.

Jenifer Lewis Explains Why None of Her Four Engagements Ever Led to Marriage

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 6:43pm

Jenifer Lewis is opening up about the multiple times she got engaged and started entertaining the best wedding planning tips, just to stop a bit short each time. Fans get to learn more about the relationships that nearly led her to the altar—and why, in the end, she walked away every time.

During an appearance on Keke Palmer's Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, the veteran actress reflected on being engaged four times throughout her life. Looking back, Lewis explained that each relationship taught her something different, from prioritizing her career at 19 to realizing she couldn't fix someone else's pain.

Jenifer Lewis Says Every Engagement Taught Her Something Different View this post on Instagram

When Palmer asked why none of her engagements resulted in marriage, Lewis walked through them one by one.

Her first engagement happened when she was just 19 years old.

"I wanted to be in show business," Lewis recalled, explaining that although she deeply loved her fiancé, she knew she couldn't give up her dream. "I do have to be a star, so I got to go."

Lewis said her second fiancé was someone she also loved, but later realized he was gay at a time when many people didn't feel safe publicly coming out.

Her third engagement ended for a different reason.

"I loved him too," she said. "But he was so damaged."

That relationship ultimately led Lewis to one of the biggest lessons of her life. Lewis seemed to have gotten caught up in explaining how these decisions shaped her path forward. So, we never quite got to the specific reason that her fourth engagement ended. Ultimately, it seems that she always chose herself.

'You Can't Save Nobody'

Reflecting on that relationship, Lewis said she eventually realized that love alone couldn't heal someone else's struggles.

"You can't save nobody," she said.

Rather than placing blame solely on her former partners, Lewis said she learned to examine her own role in the relationships she chose.

"When somebody that is that close to you, they're a reflection of you," she explained. "Don't do too much finger pointing and blaming. You chose that, and you figure out why you there with it and why you can't leave it."

Lewis added that, ultimately, "I pretty much chose myself in all four of them."

She also addressed criticism she's seen online from people who assume repeated broken engagements mean something is wrong with her.

"'Oh, well, something must be wrong with her,'" Lewis recalled reading. "Well, something was wrong with both of us."

The actress closed the conversation with a broader reflection on judgment, encouraging people to think twice before criticizing others online.

"You want to know who you are? Read your comments," she said. "Whatever you talking about, that's who you are."

Rather than framing her past relationships as failures, Lewis presented them as experiences that helped her better understand herself—lessons that ultimately taught her to choose honesty, accountability and self-worth over simply making it to the altar.

Jeremy Allen White Reveals What He'll Miss Now That 'The Bear' Has Ended

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 6:42pm

On the heels of Hulu's The Bear coming to an end following a five-season run, the show's star Jeremy Allen White is revealing what part of the series he's having difficulty letting go of.

In a June 25 interview with Extra TV, alongside his castmate Liza Colón-Zayas, who played Bettina "Tina" Marrero, White said he's felt a sense of camaraderie with his Bear co-stars since shooting its first season, which began airing in 2022.

"I've become so, like, reliant and, like, dependent on these performers on our crew. We start every year, we shoot the show, January, February, March, you know, at the top of the year, and it's such a beautiful way to start every year," said the 35-year-old actor.

He explained that he felt secure and safe while on the show's set.

"I've counted on that time the last five years to get really centered on what I want for the rest of the year because I feel in a creative place. I feel in a safe place. I feel like I'm doing work that I love with people that I love. And that's the thing I'm going to miss, you know, come January, you know, 2027. I think I'm really going to feel that absence of this, like, community during that time," said White, who played chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, while speaking to Extra TV.

During a June 2026 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, White shared that he "took many momentos" from the show's set after the Bear cast and crew wrapped "in early March." The actor said that he specifically took "this big butcher block table," weighing "about 400 pounds," that he shipped to his house. He explained that fans of The Bear will understand the significance of the table, as it was an original piece from The Beef sandwich shop.

"It's the only thing that really remained during the evolution from, you know, The Beef into The Bear, which is the fine-dining restaurant. It remained in the same corner. It was the only thing from the old world that came into our new world. And I stole that," said White during the June 2026 interview.

1964 Hit, Written in Prison, Became a Timeless Road Trip Anthem

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 6:38pm

In the mid-'60s, one of the pioneers of rock and roll released a hit song that would become one of his most beloved tracks.

Released in May 1964, Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place to Go" was the lead single of his Nov. 1964 album, St. Louis to Liverpool. The song was a huge commercial success, soaring to No. 3 on the U.K. Singles Chart and peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. In March 2025, Rolling Stone ranked the track at No. 9 on its list of the "50 Best Road-Trip Songs." According to the outlet, cars weren't legally required to have fitted seatbelts when the song was released, and Berry leaned into the then-novelty of car safety.

The track tells the tale of a young couple riding in a car, but their efforts to cuddle are stopped by a stubborn seatbelt that gets in the way. During the song, Berry's lyrics call the car a "calaboose"—an old-time slang word meaning prison—which is very fitting given the the origins of "No Particular Place to Go."

Berry penned the track during his time serving a prison sentence. The musician was incarcerated at a federal prison in Indiana between Feb. 1962 and Oct. 1963. According to reports, this sentence was served after Berry was found guilty of violating the Mann Act, but it wasn't the first — or last — time that the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner was sentenced to prison.

His first-ever single, "Maybellene," was released in July 1955 via Chess Records and was a major crossover hit. The beloved track was Berry's big breakthrough, and it charted high on several charts. It spent multiple weeks on the top spot of the Billboard Rhythm and Blues Chart, and reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Berry, who died on March 18, 2017 at the age of 90, was one of music's most influential songwriters. John Lennon famously called him his hero, stating, "If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry.'"

Don Jr.'s Wife Bettina Trump Reveals Her Chic, Simple Wedding Cake in New Photos

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 6:30pm

Even though it’s been a minute since Bettina Anderson (now Bettina Trump) married Donald Trump Jr. in a chic, but surprisingly simple, wedding in the Bahamas, the new bride is still sharing pics of her big day. And this time she posted a sweet snapshot of what appears to be her wedding cake.

Over the weekend, the new Mrs. Trump added a photo to her Instagram Stories of a two-tiered cake covered in ivory icing, with tasteful (and probably tasty) palm trees frosted on the sides. Delicately displayed on a brown natural woven stand and surrounded with greenery, the cake isn’t really what you might expect from someone who is…let’s just say, pretty darn posh.

Instead of an overly ornate and fussy four or five levels of opulent icing, decorative details, and flamboyant finishes, Bettina and Don Jr.’s wedding cake is just as understated as the couple’s wedding.

The beachside nuptials featured a teeny-tiny chapel, the pair’s closest friends and family (sans the father-of-the-groom, President Donald Trump, and his wife, Melania Trump), an effortlessly understated silk sheath dress, and apparently this supremely simple palm-tree-covered cake.

Along with posting a photo of the cake on her Instagram Stories, Bettina tagged Sweet Stacy’s in Palm Beach (we assume the bakery that crafted the cake) and her event planner, Lewis Miller Design.

The Lewis Miller Design Instagram page also shared photos from the wedding (including the cake) with the caption, “One Bahamian elopement for the books. Pulled together in under six weeks—practically overnight in wedding germs, and exactly how I like it.”

Trump’s wedding planner’s post continued, “LMD transformed one earth angel bride’s vision into a heavenly weekend layered with laughter, beauty, and all the thoughtful details that make a celebration feel deeply personal.”

View this post on Instagram

If you’re wondering what these “thoughtful details” are, just check out the rest of the LMD post. The planner shared shots of the flowers, the place settings, and the scenery, adding, “The timeline was fast and furious. The experience felt slow, easy, and intimate. A reminder that the most magical weddings aren’t always years in the making.”

Bettina replied to the post, writing, “You brought my dreams to life and more! Thank you for making our little Bahamian elopement utter perfection. So easy, so chic, so intimate, and so us.”

Even though the carousel includes plenty to see, the cake certainly wasn’t lost in the mix. So, what did fans think of the beautiful, but basic, bespoke bakery creation? One commenter gushed, “Gorgeous. And that’s the perfect cake!” as another added, “Just beautiful and that cake.”

Iconic 1966 Album Just Topped a New Ranking of the '60s' Greatest Records

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:54pm

Throughout the 1960s, music fans were treated to countless high-quality albums that experimented with genre and explored themes of love, equality, and the horrors of war. The publication Far Outmagazine recently released a ranking that spotlighted some of the most acclaimed albums of the decade.

The list, titled "10 albums from the 1960s that we would rate an 11/10," included still beloved records like The Beatles' Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band from 1967, Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix, released in 1968, and The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, released in 1966.

According to Far Out magazine, Nina Simone's 1966 album Wild Is the Wind, with classic songs like "Lilac Wine" and "Four Women," is the most perfect album released in the '60s.

Nina Simone Discussed Her Career as a Musician in a 1999 Interview

In a 1999 interview with BBC HARDtalk, four years before her 2003 death at the age of 70, Simone discussed her long-lasting and influential career as a musician and civil rights activist. During the interview, she said she agreed that her performances were "a political weapon." She explained that her music had "helped [her] for 30 years defend the rights of American Blacks" and those in developing countries "to defend them with protest songs."

"It helps to change the world," said the singer.

In addition, Simone said that she wanted her performances "to make [the audience] aware of what has been done to [her] people around the world." She also shared that she was proud of her legacy and success as an iconic musician.

"My success means a great deal to me, and my stage presence and being on stage means a great deal to me. My music is first in my life," said Simone in the 1999 interview.

She also said that being on stage was "always a huge kick" for her. Simone clarified that she would make audiences wait for her to perform to ensure she played piano and sang to the best of her abilities.

"I have to be composed. I have to be poised. I have to remember what my first piano teacher taught me, you do not touch that piano until you are ready. And until they are ready to listen to you. You just make them wait," said Simone during the BBC HARDtalk interview.

How Jean Smart Saved a Show After Carrie Fisher Suddenly Walked Out

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:32pm

If you’ve been keeping up with some of the most popular shows in recent times, chances are you’ve watched one with AlannaUbach

The actress has been featured in Euphoria, Ted, Hacks, and The Last of Us. She is known for her roles in films such as Legally Blonde, Meet the Fockers, andBatman: Gotham Knight.

Ubach spoke to People about how she balances switching genres and characters so often. She explained she is "like a mother juggling four kids at one time, and it's doable, but it's a challenge, to say the least."

She shared that what helps her with this challenge is "the cast, the crew, they're just lovely. And the directors, if you're having a great groove with the directors, it's super important. Working with SethMcFarlane [on Ted] and SamLevinson [on Euphoria] is just an actor's dream."

The 50-year-old was reconnected with Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce co-star JeanSmart after joining the cast for the final season of Hacks. Ubach reflected on when Smart helped bail out the Bravo show.

"She swooped in and saved the day when CarrieFisher decided that she no longer wanted to work on Girlfriends' Guide, and so they immediately wrote a new character, named Katherine, who was going to be managing Lisa Edelstein's character," Ubach shared. "Jean Smart was hired that day, flew up to Canada, and just killed it. She walked in and saved us because we didn't know what we were going to do without that character."

Working on Hacks reminded Ubach how talented Smart is.

"She's just phenomenal. It's amazing to see this woman, who has been such a treasure for so many years, win this role that seems tailor-made for her. It's such a moment for her right now, and I'm so excited for her," she said about the 74-year-old comedian.

The comedy drama aired its final episode on May 28. Ubach enjoyed being able to see how close the cast was while she joined for the fifth season.

"They are a family through and through. Clearly, they've been spending 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, together. They can basically finish each other's sentences. They truly are one big family, from the director and the writers to Jean," she said. "They're brothers and sisters. They're all joined at the hip, and it was so exciting to be working with them because you're joining a jazz group, and playing with them is playing jazz. They're the greats."

Hacks is available to stream on HBO Max.

1969 No. 1 Song, the ‘Perfect’ One-Hit Wonder, Became a Timeless Anthem

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:32pm

Perfection lies in the ear of the beholder. But sometimes, a track comes along that everyone can agree is a hit. One of those tracks is the Zager & Evans1969 prophetic gem, “In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus).”

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Going beyond its purpose of just being a bop, the iconic track has become something of a crystal-ball anthem, predicting the future by acting as an eerily accurate parable for today’s reality.

“Did this song by Zager & Evans actually predict the future?”American Songwriter wrote. “In a way, it did. This unique folk-rock song from 1969 has been analyzed by many music nerds (including me), and it boasts lyrics that seem to predict climate change, AI, and other interesting tidbits that came to be after 1969. Give the lyrics a read and come to your own conclusion.”

Tracing a dystopian timeline, during which unchecked technology replaces humanity, “In the Year 2525” foreshadows medical and digital advancements like IVF, AI, and Big Pharma. Yeah, it’s weirdly on point, y’all. But that isn’t the most interesting part of AS’s write-up.

The outlet goes even further than pointing out the track’s fortune-telling accuracy to call Zager & Evans’ tune a perfect one-hit wonder, explaining, “In the end, I added this song to our list because it’s a musically sound one-hit wonder with forward-thinking (and somewhat surreal) lyrics that you won’t find elsewhere at the time.”

First released locally in 1968, the song caught the attention of RCA Records, which scooped it up for national and global releases in April 1969. Good thing the company did, because the futuristic sci-fi single became an international phenomenon.

Chalk it up to genius, lightning in a bottle, or just perfect timing—the track became a hit during a particularly unusual moment in pop music. It was a time when hippie-era hits like "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" and pop classics like "Sugar, Sugar" were topping the charts, trading the No. 1 spot with legends including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and TheTemptations.

Per Songfacts, “In the Year 2525” managed to squeeze its way in there and dominate the Billboard Hot 100, starting in July 1969, for six weeks, kicking off its run around the same time as the first moon landing. The track even boosted its parent record, 2525 (Exordium & Terminus), to gold certification via the RIAA, selling more than 4 million copies by 1970.

The duo behind the track, Nebraska natives Denny Zager and Rick Evans, didn’t start their music career with the goal of becoming a one-hit wonder. But their subsequent singles, including “Mr. Turnkey,” simply couldn’t capture lightning in a bottle twice.

Their magnum opus—a structurally unconventional novelty song—became a cultural touchstone and enduring cautionary tale. It also holds the unique distinction of being the only song to hit No. 1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. while its creators never landed another charting single again.

This is a legendary case of a band that achieved musical immortality from one single perfectly executed track.

‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Star Catherine Bach, 72, Makes Rare Appearance After Health Scare With Dyan Cannon, 89

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:26pm

Catherine Bach is a TV legend thanks to her role as Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, but she's been to hell and back recently with health issues.

Bach, 72, rose to stardom on the hit program, which had her character hanging with cousins Bo and Luke (played by Tom Wopat and John Schneider) on a Georgia farm. The show ran from 1979 to 1985 on CBS, and went down in history as a fan favorite. But as Bach has navigated horrific health issues in recent years, it’s great to see the TV icon looking better than ever alongside fellow acting icon Dyan Cannon and friend Patrick Foley. With her brunette hair kissed with blonde highlights, Bach made it clear that she's thriving after a difficult period.

What Happened to Catherine Bach?

Last year, Bach was hospitalized due to an embolism that developed after surgery, Parade reported.

Wopat, who played Luke Duke, shared a sweet throwback photo of the duo and expressed his love for his former co-star.

“Tom and the Wopat Webcrew are sending our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Catherine Bach, who was recently hospitalized. Wishing her comfort and a full, speedy recovery. ❤️,” Wopat captioned the photo.

Schneider, who played Bo Duke, took to Facebook to express similar sentiments.

“Attention, Dukes of Hazzard family! I just texted Catherine, and thankfully, she responded right away,” Schneider wrote. “Yes, she is in the hospital, but she assures me that she is going to be fine. She appreciates all our prayers and support and is truly disappointed not to be traveling this weekend. We love you, Catherine!”

While the stars of Dukes met decades ago on the fan favorite show, they’ve managed to stay close throughout the years, maintaining a strong bond that’s navigated many ups and downs.

“It never occurred to us that we weren’t going to be friends for life,” Schneider told Fox News in April. “I’ve met other people from other shows, and particularly other bands… there’s a lot of bands that can’t stand one another. I couldn’t imagine a life without Tom Wopat being one of my best friends, without Catherine Bach being one of my best friends. It couldn’t possibly exist.”

North West's Latest Public Appearance Reignites Debate Over Child Fame

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 5:18pm

North West just celebrated her 13th birthday, and she's once again at the center of an internet conversation—not because of anything she said or did specifically, but because of a recent celebrity event appearance that has reignited a longstanding debate about children growing up in the spotlight.

A viral social media clip showing the 13-year-old posing for photos and interacting with adults at a high-profile event prompted thousands of comments from viewers questioning whether someone her age should already be navigating celebrity culture.

Others, however, argued that the public was reading far too much into a brief moment and unfairly projecting emotions onto a child they don't know.

Related: Here’s Why Fans Are Calling Kim Kardashian and Kanye’s Daughter North West a ‘Young Emo Icon’

Fans Question Whether Children Should Grow Up in the Celebrity Spotlight View this post on Instagram

While much of the discussion is about how Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are guiding their child through what some deem as “Hollyweird,” there's also the broader issue of child fame.

Some commenters felt she appeared uncomfortable during the event, with one person writing, "She looks miserable."

Another added, "This little girl looks so sad and confused."

Others questioned whether children should be attending adult-oriented celebrity events at all, with one viewer commenting, "She's too young for this type of exposure."

Several users pointed to the pressures that have historically accompanied growing up in the public eye.

"We've seen so many child stars start at a very young age," one commenter wrote. "Unfortunately many of them struggle during their teenage years or young adulthood because of the pressures that come with fame."

Others referenced former child stars like Drew Barrymore as part of the broader conversation surrounding young celebrities.

Some comments also questioned whether famous children should have a visibly present parent or trusted adult during public appearances, while others expressed concern about North posing for photos with adult celebrities.

Importantly, none of the comments suggested any specific interaction in the clip was inappropriate. Instead, they reflected a wider discussion about how much public exposure is healthy for children whose parents are already household names.

Others Say It's Unfair to Judge North From a Short Clip

Not everyone agreed with the criticism.

Many commenters argued that the internet was making sweeping assumptions based on only a few seconds of video.

One person wrote, "If her parents are ok with it. Why is it our business."

Another noted that North is hardly the first child of famous parents to attend celebrity events, commenting, "She's not the first or last celebrity child that mingles at events. Why do people make everything so weird?"

Others pointed out that facial expressions captured in a brief clip aren't enough to determine how someone is feeling, particularly during a crowded event where cameras are constantly flashing.

The discussion ultimately became less about North herself and more about a question that has followed child stars for decades: Should children be introduced to public fame early if it's simply part of their family's life, or is there value in waiting until they're older to navigate the pressures that come with constant public attention?

While opinions remain divided, the viral reaction shows that conversations about childhood fame continue to resonate whenever a young celebrity steps into the spotlight.

Kathy Garver is making the most of the season.

The Family Affair star, now 80, treated her followers to a sun-soaked moment this week, sharing a cheerful poolside selfie from Palm Desert.

In the photo, the iconic sitcom star beams beneath a white sun hat and tortoiseshell sunglasses, the turquoise water and palm trees glowing behind her. "After a full work week R and R in Palm Desert," she captioned the snap.

Fans were quick to send love, with one calling the scene "so serene."

For longtime viewers, that smile is instantly familiar. Garver shot to fame as teenage Cissy on Family Affair, one of the most cherished sitcoms of the 1960s.

The CBS series starred Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot alongside young actors Garver, Johnny Whitaker, and Anissa Jones. It followed a well-to-do New York bachelor who was suddenly tasked with raising his late brother's three orphaned children in his upscale high-rise.

The show ran for five seasons, from September 1966 to March 1971, and quickly became a national favorite.

In a new interview with Woman's World, Garver pulled back the curtain on what made the show tick, crediting a lesson from producer Ed Hartmann.

"He told me the formula was like climbing a palm tree," she said. "You introduce a problem and start climbing. You get to the top, look around for a solution, and then you slide back down. That was our show: Here's the problem, how do we solve it, we've solved it, now everyone is happy."

Family Affair also broke ground as one of the earliest TV series to air in color, giving its cozy stories an extra glow.

1979 No. 1 Song of Summer Is Still One of the Most Defining Hits of the Disco Era

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:25pm

Every summer has a song that completely takes over and sets the vibe. In the summer of 1979, that song was "Bad Girls" by Donna Summer. The iconic disco track became the No. 1 song of summer and remains synonymous with disco's peak years.

Long before there was a "Brat Girl Summer," there was the "Bad Girls Summer" of 1979, dominated by one Ms. Donna Summer, who will forever be known as the "Queen of Disco."

In June 1979, "Bad Girls" was released as the second single on Summer's seventh studio album of the same name, which was released in April. The song was co-written by Summer with members of '70s group the Brooklyn Dreams, which included Bruce Sudano, Joe "Bean" Esposito, and Edward "Eddie" Hokenson.

With its infectious vocal hook "Toot toot! Hey, beep beep!" along with the streetwise "Bad Girls" lyrics and Summer's feisty and incredible vocal performance, the song stood out among other disco hits. Having a brazen backstory linked to sex workers, the track felt both edgier and more socially conscious than many disco songs of the era.

By July 1979, the track topped the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for five weeks. "Bad Girls" was the top song of summer 1979, ahead of major disco hits like "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward at No. 2 and "Good Times" by Chic at No. 3. The singer further dominated that summer, too, as her song "Hot Stuff" hit No. 1 the month prior and stayed at the top for three weeks and remained at No. 4 that year beneath "Bad Girls." Summer wasn't just scoring hits — she was defining a summer and an era.

"Bad Girls" received nominations for "Favorite Pop/Rock Single" at the 1980 American Music Awards and for "Best Disco Recording" at the 22nd Annual Grammy Awards, but it didn't win either. However, Summer did take home the "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist" from the American Music Awards that year.

Almost 50 years later, the iconic disco anthem still endures and ranks among the greatest disco songs of all times. The beloved funk-pop track still gets plenty of radio play and, to date, the song has almost 115 million streams on Spotify alone.

Disco didn't survive 1979. "Bad Girls" did — and it's still playing.

Britney Spears's Sons Make Rare Appearance in Paris Fashion Week

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:24pm

Britney Spearsshared on social media a happy moment spending time with her sons, Jayden James Federline and Sean Preston Federline, earlier this year. Now they're back and making their Paris Fashion Week debut.

Jayden and Sean Federline Walk in Paris Fashion Week View this post on Instagram

On June 26, the brothers walked the runway for Vetements menswear Spring/Summer 2027. Sean, 20, wore a black shiny blazer with patches over a black shirt and tie.

Jayden, 19, wore a white tank top and jeans styled with a brown belt and silver chains hanging on his hip. The brothers are being seen at public events more often this year. Jayden previously attended the Dior 2027 Cruise collection fashion show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in May.

"Thank you so much @gvasalia for having me walk your INSANE fashion show for @vetements_official I will forever be grateful for this incredible opportunity," Jayden caption his Instagram photo of his runway appearance. "It was an honor to walk alongside such an incredible group of models. Thank you to everyone who made this such an amazing experience."

Those weren't the only celebrity kids at the fashion show. North West attended wearing all black, and her aqua hair was styled in two ponytails.

Britney Spears Posted About Spending Time With Her Sons View this post on Instagram

Spears usually posts videos of her dancing on Instagram or art. She shared a video of herself standing next to the much taller Sean on May 4. It looked like they were on a boat. The next month she shared a picture of Jayden walking with coffee in his hand.

The singer was arrested on March 4 in Ventura, California, for a DUI. She entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge in May. Her representative gave a statement on how she planned to spend her time besides going to rehab after that.

"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being," the rep told PEOPLE in March.

Spears didn't attend the fashion show, but posted an Instagram video of herself dancing in pink sparkly dress on the same day. It's unclear if their father, Kevin Federline, attended.

He released a memoir called You Thought You Knew earlier this year. Spears's spokesperson accused the father of trying to make money after he is no longer receiving child support payments, which he denied on This Morning. He said he wanted to tell his story in his own words.

The father claimed nothing in his memoir would be surprising to their two sons. "They've known most of these stories for a long time, and they've been able to sit on them for a long time," he said. Federline said they supported his decision.

It looks like the family is moving on in different ways. Hopefully, there are more runways for the sons in the future.

1976 Rock Classic, Once Spent 27 Weeks Charting, Became a Soft Rock Anthem

Sat, 06/27/2026 - 4:23pm

For one unforgettable stretch in the late 1970s, Kenny Nolan's biggest hit seemed to be everywhere.

Released in late 1976, "I Like Dreamin'" steadily climbed the charts before peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1977. The romantic ballad ultimately spent an impressive 27 weeks on the chart, becoming Nolan's signature recording and one of the defining soft rock hits of the decade.

The success was years in the making.

Before stepping into the spotlight as a recording artist, Nolan had already established himself as a successful songwriter. He co-wrote Frankie Valli’s No. 1 hit "My Eyes Adored You" and penned songs recorded by artists including Engelbert Humperdinck, Tavares and others, earning a reputation as one of pop music’s most gifted melodic writers.

"I Like Dreamin'" marked Nolan's own breakthrough as a performer.

"I had originally written it for Andy Kim, when he asked me if I would have a song for him," Nolan told Goldmine. "I played it for Andy, and he loved it, but he said, 'It's not me.' I said, 'OK, maybe it’s me.' I guess the rest is history, becoming my debut hit."

Built around lush orchestration, gentle acoustic guitar and Nolan's warm vocal delivery, the song captured the romantic, introspective style that defined much of soft rock during the era. Its heartfelt lyrics about longing and imagination resonated with audiences, while its crossover appeal helped it reach No. 4 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart in addition to its pop success.

Although Nolan never matched the commercial impact of "I Like Dreamin'," the song became the cornerstone of his recording career. It has remained a fixture on classic hits, oldies and soft rock radio for decades, continuing to evoke the easygoing sound that made the mid-1970s such a memorable period for melodic pop.

"They're quick thoughts," Nolan told Classic Bands of his songs. "They come quickly, the hooks. Here's something that people probably don't know. I'm a title writer. When I hear a title in my head that I like, it comes to me in melody form as well."

The song also stands as a reminder of Nolan's remarkable versatility. While he found enormous success writing hits for other artists, "I Like Dreamin'" proved he could deliver one himself, creating a recording that became just as memorable as many of the songs he wrote behind the scenes.

Nearly 50 years after it first climbed the charts, "I Like Dreamin'" continues to enchant listeners with its timeless melody and romantic optimism. Its remarkable 27-week run on the Billboard Hot 100 helped cement its place as one of the era’s defining soft rock anthems, ensuring Kenny Nolan’s biggest hit still lives up to its title.
