Grey's Anatomy alum Chyler Leigh announced her split from her husband Nathan West on a recent podcast experience.

In a Tuesday, May 12 episode of the podcast Books That Changed My Life, Leigh revealed to host Chris Collins that her relationship with West had "reached a point where it was just time" to "let it go."

"Even after such a long time, we'd been together — it would have been 26 years this year?" she said. "It's amicable and we're co-parenting, we're doing all the things that we can. But [we] just hit a point where it was like, 'OK, what you want and what I want aren't really lining up anymore. And I'd rather us be on good terms and us not harbor the resentment and the anger... all that stuff.'"

She continued, "It's not worth it. And when it becomes so abundantly apparent and the kids are picking up on it and the whole family, it just shifts the mood and the dynamic of everything."

Leigh and West met in 1999 at an audition and got married in 2002. They share three children together.

Leigh portrayed Dr. Lexie Grey on Grey's Anatomy from 2007 to 2012 and reprised the role briefly in season 17. Leigh is currently starring in the Hallmark drama The Way Homealongside Evan Williams, Sadie Laflamme-Snow, and Andie MacDowell. The show will soon wrap up its fourth season which premiered in April 2026.

Summer love doesn't always last...but those fleeting romances are great for inspiration when it comes to writing a hit song. One of the best examples? Richard Marx's smash '80s hit, "Endless Summer Nights."

Released as the third single from Marx's self-titled debut album in January of 1988, "Endless Summer Nights" was written as a "theme to the summer love you cannot have because you go your separate ways in the fall," according to Billboard, which ranked the tune #6 on their list of "All-Time Hottest Songs of Summer."

But in real life, Marx actually ended up marrying the woman who inspired "Endless Summer Nights" (they later divorced).

"'Endless Summer Nights' was an old song, written around the same time that I wrote 'Should Have Known Better,'" Marx explained in a video commentary on his official YouTube channel.

"So I was maybe 20, 21 when I wrote 'Endless Summer Nights,'" he continued. "Actually, I know I was 21 because it was soon after I started dating Cynthia [Rhodes, his future wife]. And a lot of people, because of the title, they think it's a song about present day summertime, but it's really set in the winter. It's a song about a summer gone by...and it's a sad song, 'cause we're not together in the song."

Indeed, the lyrics say it all:

"Summer came and left without a warning / All at once I looked and you were gone / And now you're looking back at me / Searching for a way that we can be / Like we were before"

Clearly, the song was relatable to plenty of lovelorn listeners, since it peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. In a 2021 interview with Forbes, Marx opened up about how the success of his first album took him by surprise.

“I felt really good about 'Endless Summer Nights' and 'Should've Known Better,' because those had been on my demo tape for a couple of years, even though they'd been rejected by everybody," he recalled. "I was just hoping that it wouldn't be a thing where I got dropped after my first album and had to start from scratch again. Once I sold a few hundred thousand copies, everything else was gravy. But then to go triple platinum, crossing genres, having a number one rock track, and then going into the pop chart and MTV really blowing me up — it was all a hurricane of good fortune.”

Lionel Richie discovered Richard Marx when he was still in high school

Marx was just a high school student with dreams of making it big as a musician when Lionel Richie got ahold of his demo tape. The star was so impressed with what he heard that he called the teenager, telling him to finish school and head straight to Los Angeles (he even spoke to Marx's parents about his career when they visited L.A.).

“To have the stamp of potential approval from someone like Lionel Richie at the time, it was just massive,” Marx said.

“He ended up spending his evening post-show on the floor of my parents' hotel room talking to them for over an hour — basically, make them feel more comfortable about their little boy going out to L.A. and the music biz," he continued. "I know how much that meant to my parents. Again, I could tell story after story about the kind of guy Lionel Richie is. That tells you everything about him.”

I love being outside as much as the next person—fresh air, crackling campfires, lazy afternoons by the water, all of it. Colin Jost and Travis Kelce think they have one thing in common regarding their romantic relationships

The two bonded over having two very famous partners, Scarlett Johansson andTaylor Swift, when Jost appeared on Kelce's podcastNew Heightson Wednesday, May 13.

"How nice is it to be the less famous person in the relationship?" Kelce joked with Jost. To which Jost responded, "Huge relief. Really."

Jost then added, "It's really funny because I feel like ... I'm probably almost approached more because she's less approachable. So, you know what I mean? Because I'm on TV, I have like a lesser ... people are just like, I'm in their living room, so they're just like, 'Hey what's up man, how's it going?'"

Jost and Johansson have been married since 2020 and the two first started dating back in 2017. They welcomed their first child together, Cosmo, in August 2021.

As Jost continued to admire his wife's success, Kelce shouted out all the "plus ones out there."

Jost continued, "The other thing I noticed too is that if we're ever ordering food, you know the order is not going to be right. Because if we like go to like go buy a sandwich or something, she'll order and the person will recognize her and then doesn't write down anything about the sandwich. Completely distracted, all the ingredients are wrong. We'll open the sandwich and nothing is [right]. It's really funny. It's like bread and just, like, a pickle."

Jost then noted he feels he and Kelce could bond over their experiences with their partners with Kelce agreeing, saying, "I'm on the team. I'm here for it."

Kelce is currently engaged to Swift after they had first gone public with their relationship in 2023. Kelce had previously commented on navigating his relationship with Swift while dealing with paparazzi.

"Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people. When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love," he told GQ back in 2025.

On May 13, 1977, a 23-year-old Howard Stern stepped into a small studio at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, New York, and began his first professional radio shift. 

That day, he worked as a disc jockey at a modest progressive rock station, playing music, reading advertisements, and giving basic updates like weather reports, per Cord Cutters News. It was a simple job, but it became the starting point of a broadcasting career that would later reshape American radio.

Fresh out of Boston University with a communications degree, Stern entered WRNW with no national fame, no shock value reputation, and no syndication deals. What he did have was curiosity and a growing sense of how radio could sound if the host brought more personality into it. WRNW gave him that space, and he used it immediately.

At first, his duties were standard. But even in those early shifts, Stern stood out. He began adding humor and unexpected commentary into routine segments. Listeners and station staff noticed that his delivery felt different from that of typical DJs of the time. That early style would become the foundation of his later identity in radio.

WRNW was a small progressive rock station in Briarcliff Manor, and it wasn’t designed to create national stars. Still, it became the first professional platform where Stern could experiment on-air. His early role included spinning records and reading scripts, but he quickly started shaping his own voice behind the microphone.

During this period, Stern was still learning how far he could push boundaries. His time at WRNW was described as a “critical stepping stone,” allowing him to build confidence and test ideas that would later define his career. The station may have been local, but it gave him real broadcasting experience that classroom learning could not match.

After WRNW, Stern moved through several radio stations, including WCCC in Hartford, WWWW in Detroit and WWDC in Washington, D.C. Each stop helped him refine his delivery and build a stronger audience. By the early 1980s, he was already known for blending humor, personality and controversial topics into his shows.

At WWDC, he also teamed up with Robin Quivers, a partnership that became one of radio’s most recognizable. Together, they built a morning show that mixed comedy, interviews and social commentary in a way that stood out in a crowded radio market.

Stern’s early experiment at WRNW eventually led him to larger stations and national recognition. By the mid-1980s, his career took a major turn when he joined WNBC in New York City, and later WXRK, where The Howard Stern Show became a national sensation.

As his audience grew, so did his influence. His show entered syndication in multiple markets, eventually reaching millions of listeners across North America. By the 1990s, Stern had become widely known as the “King of All Media,” a title that reflected his presence in radio, television, books, and film.

Later in his career, Stern made another major shift by moving his show to Sirius Satellite Radio in 2006, gaining full creative control without traditional broadcast restrictions. 

Today, nearly five decades after that first WRNW broadcast, Stern’s early start remains a key moment in entertainment history. It was the quiet beginning of a career that would later dominate American talk radio and reshape how personality-driven media is built.

Long before comic-book movies dominated Hollywood, one animated fantasy film fused science fiction, horror and hard rock into a cult phenomenon unlike anything audiences had seen before.

Released in 1981, Heavy Metal, directed by Gerald Potterton, later earned recognition as one of the best rock movies of all time according to Ultimate Classic Rock, thanks in large part to its unforgettable soundtrack packed with some of the biggest rock and heavy metal artists of the era.

Inspired by the adult illustrated magazine Heavy Metal, the film combined multiple surreal and often violent animated stories into one overarching sci-fi fantasy narrative. While the movie's striking visuals made it stand out, the soundtrack became just as legendary as the film itself.

One of the standout tracks was "Heavy Metal" by Sammy Hagar, which played over the movie's opening sequence and immediately established its rebellious, high-energy tone.

The soundtrack also featured major rock acts including Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Journey, Cheap Trick and Devo, helping transform the movie into a full-blown rock experience.

Many of the songs became closely associated with the film's identity, particularly because the music wasnt treated as simple background noise. Instead, the soundtrack actively shaped the movie's atmosphere, giving different sequences their own emotional and sonic identity.

At the time, Heavy Metal stood apart from traditional animated films because it was unapologetically aimed at adult audiences. Its blend of fantasy, sexuality, violence and rock music made it controversial in some circles but deeply appealing to fans looking for something edgier and more experimental.

"We based [Heavy Metal] on the "Fall of the House of Usher,'" said Potterton in a 2015 interview. "I think it was an Edgar Allan Poe thing. They often use it when things burn and blow up at the end. It's a kind of ongoing thing. Everything blows up when the house blows up, including the evil. There obviously will be more wars – we suggest that – but we wanted to uplift it a bit at the end. There are so many films now where there is no happiness at all. It's just death and destruction, A to B."

Over the years, the movie developed a passionate cult following, especially among rock and metal fans who connected with its soundtrack and rebellious spirit.

The film's influence also extended beyond cinema, helping inspire later generations of adult animation, fantasy storytelling and music-driven filmmaking.

More than 40 years later, Heavy Metal remains a one-of-a-kind cult classic, one where the soundtrack is just as iconic as the story itself.

When all else fails, give ’em beer. That might as well have been the unofficial motto of George Miller’s directorial debut, which was made on a shoestring budget of just $350,000 — a production so lean the closest thing to currency the crew had on hand was lager.

The result was Mad Max (1979), a raw, chaotic Australian action film that was about as far from a polished Hollywood production as you could get. With cast and crew working under makeshift conditions, the film was barely held together at times. To save money, Miller spent a year editing the movie alone in his kitchen while his producing partner, Byron Kennedy, handled sound from the living room of their rented apartment.

At the time, Miller was still working full-time as an emergency room doctor, developing the film in his spare time. He even used his medical earnings to help fund production. To stretch the budget further, the team enlisted a real-life biker gang, The Vigilantes, who reportedly agreed to appear as extras in exchange for beer. According to Far Outmagazine, one truck driver was even paid $50 and a case of beer to run over a motorbike during filming.

Mel Gibson, who would go on to play the titular road warrior, landed the role almost by accident. While giving a friend a ride to an audition, Gibson showed up bruised from a rugby game and a bar fight. The crew initially photographed him as a possible background “freak” before realizing he might be perfect for the lead role.

What followed was one of the most surprising success stories in film history. The movie became a global breakout hit, earning more than $100 million worldwide and, for a time, holding the title of most profitable film ever made until The Blair Witch Project surpassed it decades later. It also launched a franchise that would span five films and counting.

With all five entries written and directed by Miller himself, the series has remained firmly under his creative control. Long before Hollywood success, Miller drew inspiration from his years as an ER doctor, where the road trauma he witnessed would later shape the violent postapocalyptic world of Mad Max. A real-world foundation that ultimately became one of cinema’s most influential action franchises.

The streaming giant teamed up with AEG Presents to bring the mega-popular animated series (and HUNTR/X) to stages in a live experience. 

What Is KPop Demon Hunters?

Just in case you’ve spent the better part of the last year and a half in the basement, bathroom, or anywhere that doesn’t have a TV, computer, smartphone…you get the picture, every time your child turns on Netflix, chances are you’re already acquainted with this show. And just in case you missed it, the streaming service made sure you got the opportunity to check out the trio on the big screen when it released a sing-along in movie theaters across the country. 

For those of you who do need a teeny tiny refresher, here’s a basic breakdown: The three K-pop superstars who make up the girl group HUNTR/X (Rumi, Mira, and Zoey) pack stadiums, top the charts, and, as the name of the series implies, hunt demons. And of course, their adorable adversaries are demons disguised as a rival boy band. Whew!

Even though it’s an animated series, the in-real-life voice cast of HUNTR/X has one of the biggest hits of the—year? The decade? The century?

Not only is the tune beyond popular with KPop Demon Hunter fans, but it also became the first K-pop girl group song to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won Best Original Song at the Oscars in 2026.

What Should Fans Know About the KPop Demon Hunters Tour?

Netflix may have announced the tour, but they haven’t shared the specifics. That is, yet. Dates, cities, and other details are coming. Superfans who are worried that they could miss the sale date can visit Netflix’s website to sign up for more info. 

In 1963, Bob Dylan walked out of The Ed Sullivan Show during rehearsals after a disagreement over censorship. 

The moment happened at a time when Dylan was still unknown to most Americans, but it quickly became one of the most talked-about early turning points in his career.

According to This Day in History, the issue began when CBS Standards and Practices rejected the song Dylan planned to perform. The network raised concerns about “Talkin’ John Birch Paranoid Blues,” a satirical folk song that criticized political extremism. Instead of changing the song or choosing another one, Dylan refused to appear.

At the time, the planned TV performance was supposed to be a major national breakthrough for the young folk singer. Instead, it never aired.

The controversy unfolded during rehearsals for The Ed Sullivan Show, the highest-rated variety program in the United States at the time. Dylan had already auditioned the song without issue, but CBS executives stepped in before the live broadcast.

During the dispute, producer Bob Precht recalled the moment clearly:

“I explained the situation to Bob and asked him if he wanted to do something else, and Bob, quite appropriately, said ‘No, this is what I want to do. If I can’t play my song, I’d rather not appear on the show.'”

The network’s concern centered on possible legal risks tied to lyrics that mocked the John Birch Society. The song used humor and exaggerated imagery to criticize Cold War political fear.

Rather than compromise, Dylan left the production.

The decision became public quickly and spread across entertainment media. Ed Sullivan himself later criticized the network’s handling of the situation in interviews, adding pressure to CBS Standards and Practices for blocking the performance.

The walkout also shaped Dylan’s early reputation. At the time, he was still building his name in the Greenwich Village folk scene and had not yet released his breakthrough album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

Although the television appearance was canceled, Dylan’s career did not slow down. Instead, attention around the incident added to growing interest in his music.

Shortly after, his second album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan was released in 1963. It included “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall,” songs that became widely known through performances and covers by other artists.

A cover of “Blowin’ in the Wind” by Peter, Paul and Mary helped bring Dylan’s songwriting to a national audience. By the end of the summer, he was performing at major cultural events, including the March on Washington.

Dylan’s early work was part of a growing folk movement tied to civil rights and anti-war messages. His lyrics stood out because they combined simple language with strong social ideas.

More than six decades after the 1963 incident, Bob Dylan remains active in music and public life.

Dylan will turn 85 on May 24, 2026. He continues to perform live and release archival material while maintaining a busy touring schedule across the United States.

Dylan is in the middle of a 2026 U.S. tour with multiple stops across the Midwest, Northeast, South and West Coast. Plenty of hit songs have been pulled from the radio through the years, but one ‘60s rock anthem was temporarily banned for a much more unexpected reason.

Released in 1965, “My Generation” quickly became one of The Who’s most iconic songs. It’s a loud, rebellious anthem that captured the frustration and energy of young people during the height of Britain’s swinging ’60s.

Today, the track is widely considered one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. It has earned spots on countless “best songs of all time” lists, including Rolling Stone’s famed 500 Greatest Songs ranking, and has since been recognized by both the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

But despite its legendary status now, the song almost never made it onto British airwaves. At the time of its release, some believed the BBC may have objected to the song’s rebellious themes or the increasingly chaotic live performances associated with the band, which famously included smashing instruments onstage. 

But instead, the broadcaster reportedly took issue with something far more specific—lead singer Roger Daltrey’s vocal stutter throughout the track.

The BBC allegedly worried the repeated stammering could be viewed as offensive to people who stuttered in real life, leading the network to temporarily ban the song.

The band strongly pushed back against that accusation, stating that the style simply served as a musical device to emphasize the angst at the center of the song. They also pointed to older blues musicians who had used similar vocal techniques long before My Generation, like artist John Lee Hooker.

“Chris picked up on a stutter on my vocal on the second demo, so I played him John Lee Hooker’s ‘Stuttering Blues.’ Roger had been experimenting with stuttering on stage,” lead singer Pete Townshend wrote in his 2012 autobiography Who Am I. “Before I completed the third demo we experimented until the stutter became exaggerated and obvious.”

And Daltry seemed to agree: “It wasn’t a stutter…to me, it wasn’t a sign of weakness. It wasn’t a slip of the tongue,” he declared in his memoirThanks A Lot Mr. Kibblewhite: My Story.

Ironically, the controversy may have only made the song more popular. As My Generation gained traction on pirate radio stations and in underground music circles, the BBC eventually lifted the ban.

In 1977, a brutally honest country song about workplace frustration struck a nerve with millions of Americans and turned into one of the biggest outlaw country hits of the decade.

"Take This Job and Shove It" by Johnny Paycheck became a No. 1 country hit, cementing its place as both Paycheck’s signature song and one of the most recognizable blue-collar anthems in music history.

Written by fellow country artist David Allan Coe, the song captured the anger and exhaustion of workers feeling trapped in difficult jobs with little appreciation or dignity. Its direct, rebellious title immediately grabbed attention and reflected the growing outlaw country movement of the 1970s, which pushed back against polished Nashville conventions.

Unlike traditional country songs that often focused on heartbreak or nostalgia, "Take This Job and Shove It" tapped into workplace resentment in a way that felt raw and relatable.

Listeners connected instantly.

The song's narrator announces he's quitting a miserable job after years of frustration, delivering the message with a mix of bitterness, humor and emotional exhaustion. For many fans, it became more than just a song; it became a phrase people used in everyday life whenever they felt fed up with work.

The track also perfectly matched Paycheck's outlaw image. Known for his rough-edged voice and rebellious persona, he became one of the genre's most recognizable anti-establishment figures during the era.

"There wasn't enough rebels, there wasn't enough people to tell 'em off, so those that did automatically got shut down," Paycheck said a 1976 interview, describing his early days in Nashville. "The only thing I regret is I compromised to a certain degree, because I felt in my case it was the only way I could get my foot in."

The success of the song eventually expanded beyond music. Its popularity inspired the 1981 film Take This Job and Shove It, loosely based on the song's themes of labor frustration and working-class struggles.

Back in the summer of 1983, The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” dominated the airwaves. You couldn’t take one step or make one move without hearing that instantly recognizable opening riff and those too often misunderstood lyrics.

Released on May 20, 1983, the track spent eight whole weeks in the coveted No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, becoming the band’s sole No. 1 and the best song of 1983. So, it’s easy to see why the moody ballad was also ranked the greatest of all time classic rock song of summer by the same music authority.

But there’s gotta be a twist, right? Yep, there is. “Every Breath You Take” is often interpreted by listeners as a romantic soft rock tune, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Sting himself has actually gone on the record, explaining that the song is about a stalker. He even called the hit “a nasty little song” and “really rather evil.” 

“It's about jealousy and surveillance and ownership,” Sting, who wrote the song after separating from his first wife, Frances Tomelty, explained in a 1983 interview with New Musical Express, via Songfacts. “I think the ambiguity is intrinsic in the song however you treat it because the words are so sadistic. On one level, it's a nice long song with the classic relative minor chords, and underneath there's this distasteful character talking about watching every move. I enjoy that ambiguity. I watched Andy Gibb singing it with some girl on TV a couple of weeks ago, very loving, and totally misinterpreting it. [Laughter] I could still hear the words, which aren't about love at all. I pissed myself laughing.”

Released as the lead single off what would become The Police’s final album, Synchronicity, “Every Breath You Take” soared to the chart pinnacle, where it stayed for eight weeks, with Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean holding steady at No. 2 for seven weeks. The song also earned Sting, guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland two Grammys. 

In 1997, Puff Daddy sampled The Police’s song in his tribute to the Notorious B.I.G., “I’ll Be Missing You.” The combined total weeks of both songs at No. 1 makes “Every Breath You Take” the longest-running No. 1 tune in Hot 100 history. So, of course, The Police had to perform the hit when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. 

More than 40 years later, the emotional ballad remains one of the most-played songs in radio and streaming history. It’s one of those rare tracks that feels comforting, unsettling, and deeply nostalgic all at once. And with summer right around the corner, there’s a good chance “Every Breath You Take” will once again be blasting through car speakers, backyard parties, and classic rock playlists.

An elderly man in Ventura County, California, was scammed out of $25,000 by a pair of fraudsters claiming he was linked to an illegal child exploitation ring in Canada. The scam began as a text message and quickly spiraled out of control.

A Scary Situation

Shaohua Sun, of Monterey Park, and Yanwen Gu, of Rosemead, both located near Los Angeles, pleaded guilty this month after being caught scamming an elderly Ventura resident out of $25,000 with plans to extort an additional $50,000 from the man and his wife. 

The victim received a text message asking him to verify a $350 purchase at the Apple Store. A phone number urged the man to call “immediately” if he hadn’t made the purchase.

The Ventura Police Step In

According to the Ventura County Police, “Once on the phone, an unidentified co-conspirator falsely claimed the elder victim’s local credit union account was linked to supposed child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) content based in Canada. The elder victim was then directed to call a telephone number supposedly belonging to the 'Ventura County Credit Union Fraud Department.'”

The caller, identifying herself as “Jade,” instructed the victim to immediately withdraw $25,000 in cash and meet a purported undercover police officer in the City of Ventura to surrender the funds as “evidence,” the police report concludes.

After delivering the money, the victim and his wife began to suspect they’d been scammed and called the police. “Jade” reached back out, demanding an additional $50,000. Ventura police helped the man complete the next drop and arrested Gu and Sun at the scene. 

Elaborate Scams

These scams often target older adults, but can claim victims of any age. They are sometimes initiated as text messages, but can also be phone calls or emails. You should always ignore these messages, no matter how official they look. If you’re uncomfortable ignoring them, you can independently call your credit card company or bank to discuss the potential charges. 

You should never respond to messages like these or call a number provided by the scammer. Always contact financial institutions or companies through their official communication channels, as listed on your card or on the company website.

The Recovery

Lucky for the victim, the scammers did surrender the original $25,000 cash. Now they both face up to 4 years in prison, with an additional 2 years of probation. Hopefully, the scammers will receive the longest possible punishment, and the victim will never have to endure an ordeal like this again.
