This New Hyatt All-Inclusive in Aruba Makes a Winter Getaway Feel Possible

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 5:10am

If you’re reading this while bundled up, staring at a gray February sky—and yes, even Florida is somehow cold right now—Hyatt has some perfectly timed news. The company has officially opened Secrets Baby Beach Aruba, a brand-new adults-only, all-inclusive resort on one of Aruba’s most beautiful stretches of sand. And yes, it’s bookable with points.

Located along the calm, turquoise waters of Baby Beach Bay on Aruba’s southeastern coast, the new resort feels worlds away from winter. The area is known for shallow, crystal-clear water and soft coral sand—it's almost as if the ocean looks filtered in real life. It’s quieter than Aruba’s high-rise hotel zone, but still close to San Nicolas, a colorful town known for its massive street murals and creative energy.

The resort itself is all suites—304 of them—and every room comes with a private balcony or terrace, daily refreshed minibar and views that lean hard into the Caribbean setting. Some rooms include swim-out access or private pools, while upgraded Preferred Club suites add extras like butler service, a private lounge and dedicated pool areas for guests who want a little more space and quiet.

Because this is a Secrets resort, everything is included. That means four à la carte restaurants serving everything from Pan-Asian dishes to South American flavors, plus a café, grill and 24-hour room service. There are also six bars and lounges, including a swim-up bar—because at some point, a drink in the pool becomes non-negotiable.

When you’re not parked at the beach or drifting between pools, the days can go a lot of different ways. Some guests sign up for bike rides around the area, others duck into cooking or cocktail classes, or linger over a local rum tasting that turns into an unplanned afternoon.

There are dance lessons, pool volleyball, ping-pong, yoga and a well-equipped fitness center if you’re feeling ambitious—or you can do absolutely none of that and float between the infinity pool, the social pool and the quieter Preferred Club pool instead. Bali beds are available if you want to commit fully to the art of doing nothing, and the nightly entertainment and themed events make it easy to stay out later than you planned.

The spa is especially tempting if you’re the type who thinks the post-massage hang is the real main event. There’s a cenote-style reflecting pool with Caribbean views, a hydrotherapy circuit with sauna and steam rooms, and—yes—four different relaxation rooms, which feels like a quiet flex. It’s the kind of setup that makes “I’ll just stop in for an hour” wildly unrealistic.

For World of Hyatt members, this opening is especially appealing. As Hyatt’s first Inclusive Collection resort in Aruba, it adds a new, warm-weather option where points can cover everything—from food and drinks to your room—at a time of year when most of us just want to feel the sun again.

According to The Points Guy, Secrets Baby Beach Aruba is a Category D property in the World of Hyatt program, which means standard award nights for junior suites with a garden view can start at 25,000 points per night during off-peak dates and run up to 35,000 points during peak periods. Pool-view, poolside and swim-out suites price higher, but even at those levels, it’s a notable value for an adults-only, all-inclusive stay.

Hyatt members can also earn 500 bonus points per qualifying night right now through the New Hotels Bonus Offer, making this one of those rare winter getaways that actually feels doable.

In other words: if winter has overstayed its welcome, this might be your sign.

The week before the start of the 2026 Olympics, Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to a hospital after falling in the Crans Montana downhill. In a message shared on Instagram on Jan. 30, the alpine ski racer, who was set to compete in the Games, wrote: "I crashed today in the Downhill race in Switzerland and injured my left knee. I am discussing the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to undergo further exams. This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback. My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it."

On Sunday, Feb. 1, her coach—Chris Knight—told the Associated Press via text message: “She is not racing today but preparing for Cortina as usual." On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Vonn shared the following post on Instagram, updating her fans on her injuries—an ACL tear and bone bruise. However, she remains determined to compete in the Winter Games.

Michael Eisner Congratulates Disney’s Next CEO—and Shares Three Pieces of Advice

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 4:45am

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner had a few things to say following the announcement that Josh D'Amaro will become the next CEO of The Walt Disney Company—and the tone was exactly what longtime Disney fans might hope for: warm, congratulatory and rooted in the company’s creative DNA.

Shortly after the news broke on Tuesday, Eisner took to X to publicly congratulate D’Amaro, as well as the Disney board, for the leadership transition that will officially take effect on March 18. His message also acknowledged another major piece of the announcement: the elevation of Dana Walden to President and Chief Creative Officer.

Congratulations to Josh D’Amaro for becoming the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, and congratulations to Chairman James Gorman for making such a wise pick as well as promoting Dana Walden to president and chief creative officer.  My advice to Josh is continue Bob Iger’s strategy…

— Michael Eisner (@Michael_Eisner) February 3, 2026

“Congratulations to Josh D’Amaro for becoming the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, and congratulations to Chairman James Gorman for making such a wise pick as well as promoting Dana Walden to president and chief creative officer,” Eisner wrote.

But Eisner didn’t stop there. Drawing from his own two-decade tenure running Disney, he offered three succinct pieces of advice for D’Amaro as he prepares to step into one of the most closely watched jobs in entertainment.

“My advice to Josh is continue Bob Iger's strategy that creativity will handle profits, always protect the brand, and keep close the words of Walt Disney: ‘We love to entertain kings and queens, but the vital thing to remember is this—every guest receives the VIP treatment,’” Eisner wrote.

Related: Disneyland Paris Announces Dates for Frozen Land and Disney Adventure World Opening

For Disney fans, that quote lands with particular weight. Eisner’s years as CEO—from 1984 to 2005—were marked by massive growth, creative risk-taking and the expansion of Disney’s theme parks and animation studios during what’s often called the Disney Renaissance. His nod to creativity-first leadership echoes the philosophy long associated with Bob Iger, whom D’Amaro will succeed.

It also neatly aligns with D’Amaro’s own background. As the longtime head of Disney Experiences, he’s spent years overseeing parks, resorts and cruise operations—businesses built on the idea that guest experience comes first. Eisner’s reminder that “every guest receives the VIP treatment” feels like a passing of the torch.

Iger, meanwhile, will remain closely involved during the transition, serving as a senior advisor and board member through the end of 2026. But with Eisner’s public show of support, it’s clear D’Amaro is entering the role with encouragement from multiple eras of Disney leadership—and a familiar reminder of what the company believes matters most.

Joy Behar Returns to 'The View' with a Surprising Secret: Meet Josephine Victoria

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 4:26am

The red chair is finally occupied again. After a multi-episode absence that left fans questioning the status of their favorite co-hosts, Joy Behar made her return to The View on Tuesday. The 83-year-old brought more than her trademark wit back to the ABC panel; she also brought a reveal about her identity that most viewers never saw coming.

Speculation regarding Behar’s health had been mounting after she missed six consecutive broadcasts starting in late January. While she traditionally takes Mondays off, her continued absence throughout the week sparked concern. Last week, moderator Whoopi Goldberg, 70, addressed Behar’s empty seat.

"We want to let you know Joy is out, she's not feeling well, so we want her to feel better and get her behind back here," Goldberg told the audience. Behar’s medical history has been a topic of conversation before, notably last autumn when she missed four episodes after a household mishap. "I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe," she shared at the time.

Back in her usual spot for the Hot Topics segment, the conversation turned to co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin’s journey toward motherhood. Goldberg mentioned a rumor that an audience member was planning to name their newborn after Behar.

“I heard that too, as a middle name,” Behar joked, before dropping the bombshell that her famous moniker isn't on her birth certificate. “My real name is Josephine Victoria, but my grandfather called me Joy, my Italian grandfather.”

The comedian explained that the nickname took hold before she could even walk. “From infancy, I was always known as Joy — as a middle name, I think it's a really good choice,” she added. Despite being one of the most recognizable faces on daytime television for decades, the Josephine Victoria revelation was a fresh twist for her audience.

Living with a name that doubles as a common emotion has its perks and its pitfalls, according to the Emmy winner. Behar noted that the linguistic nature of her name often leads to seasonal mix-ups.

“You have to know that Joy is a noun, so it always comes up in Christmas and all sorts of ways — just remember that — it's confusing sometimes,” she told her co-hosts. In her signature style, she couldn't resist a bit of humor regarding the holiday season, joking that she often assumes the classic carol Joy To The World was written specifically in her honor.

After a week of Goldberg and the rest of the crew holding down the fort, the return of the woman formerly known as Josephine Victoria brings the panel back together.

Scott Foley’s New Role Might Surprise You—And That’s the Point (Exclusive)

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 4:25am

Nearly 30 years into his career, Scott Foley continues to be one of Hollywood's most enduring, endearing and versatile actors. The Kansas City native has starred in a dizzying array of roles, from the friendly RA in Felicity to a calculating killer in Scream 3 and lethal secret agent Jake Ballard on Scandal. He's also played a hospital patient in recurring arcs on both Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs—before donning scrubs himself as Dr. Seth McDale in Will Trent.

Yet despite a resume that covers almost every corner of the human condition, Foley's newest projectIt’s Not Like That—sees him entering uncharted territory: For the first time in his career, the veteran actor is playing a pastor.

But here's the thing: It's Not Like That isn't a "church show" in the traditional sense. While Foley's Malcolm may be a pastor, he's also recently widowed dad of three. The show centers on two families, using faith as a backdrop for a grounded, compelling and emotional exploration of how grief and divorce impacts both adults and adolescents.

The first episode of It's Not Like That is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video via Wonder Project and we got to chat all about it with Foley—a real-life dad of 3—via Zoom. Read on to learn more about It's Not Like That and why the veteran actor is so passionate about the series.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Parade: There aren't many scripted shows for families to watch together on TV right now. As a dad, is that something that drew you to the show?

Scott Foley: That was the main reason I did this show—and it wasn't specifically, “Man, I wish there was something I could watch with my family.” We do need that, right? I have three kids, and we end up watching Survivor or Top Chef.

But what I really like are good character stories. And this is that—there's no guns, there's no aliens, it's not raining acid—it's just the human condition and it's so interesting to me. It's Not Like That is my favorite kind of story and it's my favorite kind of television. It has strong characters and a story that's well-written and well-told.

Related: Exclusive First Look at Scott Foley’s New Family Drama ‘It’s Not Like That’

As a dad, are you bringing any real-life experiences into the storylines?

You know, I have an 11-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old—it's impossible for me not to bring some of that to the show! And the way that comes out is how I interact with the kids. On the show, I have a younger son and then two teenage daughters, so I know how to deal with him and I, unfortunately, know how to deal with teenage daughters now! So that's how the majority of my experience comes to play, for sure. It's very cool—and funny, too.

You're also an Executive Producer—tell me about that.

I loved the script so much and I believe in this type of show so much that I wanted to have some sort of creative input—or as much as they'd let me have! So I'll get the scripts early and I'll be able to give some notes on them—or I'll see rough cuts of the show before they've done anything else to it. I can say, "Oh, man, I love where you're going with this character" or "You know, the music in that scene made me feel like I was at a haunted house."

I loved the first episode—so much happened—especially that kiss between Malcolm and Lori!

It's another layer, right? Any good pilot has a great jumping-off point and we have a couple here. We've got the death of Jenny—Malcolm's wife. We've got Lori and David getting divorced—you basically see that in the first scene when we're dropping the kids off at school.

You see that Malcolm and Lori's families are friends, they have meals together and they live across the street from each other. So to have them act on that in the first episode—on top of him managing the loss of his wife and the mother of his kids, and her dealing with divorce and how that affects her family—it's just one more bit of conflict and drama.

Amazon MGM Studios

What can you share about the rest of the season?

The relationship between Lori and Malcolm will grow and develop in ways that a lot of people won't see coming. The stories that you get hooked on in the first couple episodes will continue as well. My wife and I watched the whole first season, and there was a moment where she was like, “Oh, stop it!" And she's born and raised in Brooklyn! I was like, “Whoa, calm down, babe!”

What do you love about It's Not Like That?

This is a show that you can watch with your family—you can sit down with your kids and watch this show. And the great thing is that whether your kid is eight or 18, everyone who sits down and watches it will relate to a different storyline. And to be able to talk about those storylines as family—or amongst friends and family—is really important. And I miss that. I miss talking about TV, and I hope people do that with this show.

This interview has been edited and condensed for length and clarity.

New episodes of It's Not Like That drop every Sunday on Wonder Project via Amazon Prime Video, which is offering a 7-day free trial now. Wonder Project is a new entertainment company dedicated to telling courageous stories that inspire hope and restore faith, offering original programming alongside an extensive, curated library of licensed titles.

Amazon’s ‘Absolutely Brilliant' $30 Self-Cleaning Mop and Bucket Set Is a ‘Game Changer for Cleaning’

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 2:30am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

While spring may be six weeks away, thanks to Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction, it certainly can’t hurt to get a head start on your seasonal cleaning. Though most wouldn’t describe cleaning as fun and exciting, we found a nifty gadget that’ll make this dreadful chore a little more enjoyable. This Joymoop Self-Cleaning Mop and Bucket Set makes cleaning bearable, and you can currently score it on sale at Amazon!

Normally retailing for $45, this mop and bucket set is now marked down to just $30. This set comes with a white bucket, 60-inch flat mop, and four microfiber pads. It’s also available in 18 other styles, including larger bucket sizes, color variations, and different pad counts. Sale prices for those options range between $30 to $77.

Featuring a self-cleaning bucket, this set streamlines the cleaning process, making it efficient and effortless. Whenever you reinsert the mop to wet it again, the wringer automatically scrapes off dirt, hair, and anything else that’s been lingering around your floor. The bucket also boasts a dry chamber to squeeze out excess water so you can dry your floors and leave them streak-free. Several shoppers raved about the self-cleaning feature, noting that it eliminates the need to bend over and get their hands dirty.

One reviewer mentioned that the mop has “completely revolutionized" their cleaning routine because it delivers “superior cleaning results.” They also described the hands-free wringing feature as “absolutely brilliant.”

Designed so you can clean with minimal elbow grease, the flat mop head has 360-degree rotation with incredibly absorbent four-layer thickened microfiber pads. Unlike traditional round mops, this one allows you to thoroughly clean those hard-to-reach spaces like tight corners and the floors underneath your furniture. It has a 26.5-inch adjustable stainless steel handle that you can extend up to 60 inches so you can reach your walls, ceilings, and baseboards with ease.

Another reviewer said that it’s a “game changer for cleaning” and explained that the microfiber pads are “incredibly effective for grabbing dust and dirt.” They also added that the mop “glides smoothly across the floors, leaves no streaks, and makes cleaning feel effortless.”

The bucket has a 6.5-liter capacity, holding enough water so you don’t have to constantly refill it. While the bucket has a large capacity, the silhouette is sleek and compact, which is ideal for those with small spaces. Tuck it into any corner or throw it in your storage closet without it taking up too much room.

As a bonus, the pads are machine washable. Wash them on a gentle cycle with warm water and toss them in the dryer afterwards. Shoppers noted that the pads wash and dry beautifully, maintaining their effectiveness after multiple cycles.

'80s Icon, 57, Speaks Out on Growing Old as a Rock Star

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 1:31am

Sebastian Bach is not worried about getting older in rock music. The 57-year-old singer, known for his time as the voice of Skid Row, says age has not slowed him down.

While promoting his latest solo shows and projects, Bach shared that he sees many music legends who are still performing well into their later years. For him, they are proof that rock stars can keep going strong no matter their age.

Paul McCartney, he's doing amazing. Willie Nelson is 91 and he's rolling up joints and got his long hair, [he 's] on his tour bus and he's on the road again. I mean, 91. Geez ... Neil Young, Rob Halford, there's many, many examples of guys that keep rocking,” Bach told told Loudwire Nights.

Bach is currently busy touring and connecting with fans, showing that he still has the same passion that made him famous in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His latest North American tour, The Party Never Ends, supports his 2024 album Child Within the Man, his first full album in more than 10 years. The tour features special guest Stitched Up Heart and includes shows across the U.S. through 2026.

Sebastian Bach Reflects on Longevity in Rock Music

Bach says performing live is still one of his favorite parts of being an artist. He explained that his shows are shaped by the crowd’s energy. He has been performing this way for nearly four decades and says he still feels a deep connection with fans.

“What I've been doing for 37 years is, I feel the crowd,” Bach shared. “I feel the emotions in the room and I respond accordingly.”

During recent shows, Bach said crowds in places like Australia inspired him to perform longer sets, sometimes lasting two and a half hours. He believes fans play a big role in shaping each concert, which helps keep his shows fresh and exciting.

Bach’s career started when he joined Skid Row in 1987. The band quickly found success with hits like “18 and Life,” “Youth Gone Wild” and “I Remember You.” The group’s debut album sold millions of copies worldwide. Though Bach left the band in 1996, he built a strong solo career, releasing several albums and touring often.

His newest album, Child Within the Man, has received strong praise from critics. Many reviewers noted that Bach’s powerful voice and songwriting skills remain strong even after decades in music. The album includes tracks like “(Hold On) To The Dream,” which was praised as an inspiring anthem about never giving up.

Even with a long career, Bach says meeting fans continues to surprise him. He shared that strangers often approach him in public to express their love and support.

“You wouldn't believe how many strangers walk up to me in public and say, ‘I love you, man,’” he said. “That never gets old.”

Bach believes these moments happen because fans have followed his music for many years. He says being part of people’s lives for so long is something he does not take lightly.

Looking ahead, Bach plans to continue touring and making new music. While he is not ready to start recording another rock album right away, he revealed that he has a dream project he hopes to complete one day, a traditional Christmas album.

According to Blabbermouth, Bach explained that the album would not be a rock version of holiday songs but instead would focus on classic church-style music inspired by his childhood singing in a choir in Canada.

“It’s going to be traditional, classical,” Bach said, noting that he wants to recreate the type of music he sang as a child. “That’s something I’ve always, always in my heart wanted to do.”

Beyond music, Bach has also appeared in television shows and Broadway productions throughout his career. However, live performance and recording remain his main focus. With his current tour running through 2026, Bach continues to show the same high energy that made him a major figure during rock music’s golden era.

'90s TV Star Loses Home in Unexpected Financial Turn

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 12:12am

Jennifer Esposito has revealed she is being forced to give up her home following a financial setback tied to mortgage issues.

The '90s TV star and leading lady took to Instagram this week to open up about the deeply personal challenge, which she explains is the result of mortgaging her house to finance her 2023 film, Fresh Kills.

"Yeah, I'm looking like a— right now because I've been crying because I'm moving out of my home that I mortgaged to make my film," Esposito, 52, said through tears in a video. The actor turned director wrote, starred in, produced, directed, and ultimately released the film that she'd spent 15 years developing. However, it did not generate enough profits for Esposito to pay back her initial investment and hold onto her house.

Additionally, Esposito voiced frustration that "people who are in the spotlight" didn't bother to say a kind word to help promote the film upon its release.

"And then I said to myself, 'You know what? Nobody owes anybody anything.' And then I thought, 'Do we? Do we as human beings?'" she said.

"Maybe that's why we're in this problem right now where we are. I think actually we do owe each other something. We owe each other decency as human beings. That's what we owe each other," she added.

View this post on Instagram

Several of Esposito's Hollywood friends and peers rallied around her in the comments.

Will & Grace star Debra Messing wrote, "Jen, I am heartbroken for you. Your film was exquisite and I'm better for seeing it. The fact that you have to leave your home in order to give your Art to the world is maddening. Sending love and strength and appreciation."

"Proud of you 🙌 Brava. I have not seen your film and would love to. I'm so sorry," commented Rosanna Arquette.

"Here for you, kiddo! Ya'll check Jennifer's movie out. She put and puts it all on the line. A real artist in the pursuit of truth!" added Don Cheadle.

In a 2024 interview with KTLA, Esposito shared that she'd mortgaged her home as an act of pure faith in herself and her art. "This town tells you what you can be and what you can't be for so many years. I was just so over that and I thought, 'Why am I asking the world to believe in me, I have to believe in me.' So I'm going to put my money down. At the end of my life, am I going to be so happy that my house was paid off? Or am I going to be so happy that I gave myself the opportunity that I’ve been waiting for for far too long? So I thought I'm going."

Fresh Kills offers a fresh take on the age-old mafia story from a purely female perspective. Esposito is one of the rare few female directors to step into the genre, and the film premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival and the Red Sea International Film Festival.

Is Ozzfest Returning After 9 Years? Latest Post Sparks Excitement

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 12:06am

After nearly a decade away, the headbanging heavy metal and hard rock music festival Ozzfest has sent fans into a shockwave of excitement.

The prominent music event, founded by the late Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon Osbourne in 1996, became a mecca for metalhead fans and concertgoers for over 22 years before its final run in 2018.

Following a long period of silence, Ozzfest hinted at a possible return through a cryptic social media post.

In an Instagram update, the post featured text reading, “Ozzfest could return–2027?” along with the caption that asked, “Will Ozzfest return in 2027??”

The post immediately sparked excitement from fans who expressed their enthusiasm and anticipation for the potential comeback of the legendary festival.

View this post on Instagram

“Bring back Ozzfest!” one wrote.

“Bring it back,” a fan echoed.

“Yes, it’s time to bring Ozzfest back!” a commenter said.

“That would be amazing,” another agreed.

“Please make this happen!!” a follower mentioned.

A fan also suggested sticking to the original elements and what OG fans loved about the music festival.

“Would be sick if they brought it back and did these things too!!! Public drum circle, guitar shredding content for anyone interested. Metal trivia contests on bands playing. Skateboard showcase,” one wrote.

Amid the buzz, some fear that Ozzfest may lose its original spark without the iconic Black Sabbath singer.

“It won’t be the same,” a follower noted.

“Nah. Let him rest. Nobody wants to go to something Ozzy won't be at,” a commenter added.

The same sentiment was shared by another who said, “Yo, no way without Ozzy, come on man.”

Sharon Osbourne’s Thoughts on Bringing Back Ozzfest

Speculation surrounding the return of Ozzfest intensified following comments from the music legend's widow about the festival.

Musicians Zakk Wylde, Geezer Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne and singer Corey Taylor attend the Ozzy Osbourne and Corey Taylor special announcement at the Hollywood Palladium in 2016.

In an interview with Billboard, she discussed intentions of bringing back the iconic event, though nothing has been confirmed.

"I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently... “ she said, adding, “It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids."

Regarding the possible lineup, the 73-year-old TV host did not name any specific bands but hinted at mixing up the genres.

Kennedy Center Unions Challenge Trump's 'Revitalization' Plans

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:05pm

The labor unions representing staff at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., have broken their silence regarding Donald Trump's recent announcement concerning the facility's future.

The Kennedy Center Arts Workers United is comprised of several arts unions, including Actors’ Equity Association, the American Federation of Musicians, the American Guild of Musical Artists, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, representing performers and behind-the-scenes staff members across the various organizations.

The Workers' Unions Are Challenging Trump's 'Harmful' Plans

The collective issued a joint statement in response to the president's recently announced plan to shutter the historic performing arts center for the better part of the next two years. In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had "determined that The Trump Kennedy Center, if temporarily closed for Construction, Revitalization, and Complete Rebuilding, can be, without question, the finest Performing Arts Facility of its kind, anywhere in the World."

He wrote, in part, "I have determined that the fastest way to bring The Trump Kennedy Center to the highest level of Success, Beauty, and Grandeur, is to cease Entertainment Operations for an approximately two year period of time, with a scheduled Grand Reopening that will rival and surpass anything that has taken place with respect to such a Facility before."

This news came as a shock to those working there, with the unions' statement adding that there has been no formal notification to those "whose labor sustains the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts."

"A pause in Kennedy Center operations without due regard for those who work there would be harmful for the arts and creative workers in America," the statement continued, revealing that, should the president move forward with his plans and "displace [the] members" of said unions, they will "enforce our contracts and exercise all our rights under the law."

"We expect continued fair pay, enforceable worker protections, and accountability for our members in the event they cannot work due to an operational pause," it concluded, emphasizing the performing arts center's teams' "steadfast" commitment to "bringing to life theatrical, music, opera, dance, and other live artistic performances in the nation’s capital that speak to and resonate with all Americans.”

There Are Contrasting Opinions About the Reason for the Renovations

Maria Shriver, John F. Kennedy's niece, clapped back against Trump's claim, suspecting that the president actually chose to close down the facility after numerous performers pulled out of their scheduled events due to his taking control of the board and programming—not to mention the backlash over rebranding the memorial building with his own name.

“Translation: It has been brought to my attention that due to the name change (but nobody’s telling me it’s due to the name change), but it’s been brought to my attention that entertainers are canceling left and right, and I have determined that since the name change no one wants to perform there any longer,” Shriver quipped. “I’ve determined that due to this change in schedule, it’s best for me to close this center down and rebuild a new center that will bear my name, which will surely get everybody to stop talking about the fact that everybody’s canceling… right?”

Trump's plans are "totally subject to Board approval," but, seeing as he hand-selected the board, it's unlikely he'll face objections on that front. He plans to close the historic venue, which he called "tired, broken, and dilapidated," this coming Independence Day.
