1990s Britpop Anthem That Gen Z Has Misunderstood Thanks to a New Cover

6 hours 41 min ago

Pulp's 1995 Britpop anthem "Common People" is one of the defining songs of the era and the band's most famous track. But, with the release of My Chemical Romance's cover, fans who weren't alive during the 1990s have misinterpreted the lyrics.

The song is, according to The Guardian, about "the long-term disenfranchised and perma-skint, who spend their lives feeling broke, scared and hopeless, without a safety net."

In the song, the poor, working-class protagonist meets a rich woman who pretends to be penniless. Frontman Jarvis Cocker wrote the song while studying film at Central Saint Martin’s College in London and it is based on a real person he met during his studies.

“It turned out she was from quite a well-to-do background and somehow thought it would be interesting to go and live in a kind of scummy area, as she found that exotic," Jarvis Cocker explained. “I was studying film, and she might’ve been doing painting, but we both did sculpture for two weeks.”

As The Financial Timessays, the song "railed against class tourism, the naive desire of bohemian sons and daughters of fortune to blend into the underclass."

"Common People" has found a new life as My Chemical Romance released it as part of the reissue of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

“[It] is a song that, growing up in New Jersey, it was very important to me and Mikey [Way],” frontman Gerard told NME. “It was very relevant to us, feeling like you were in a place you could never get out of, that you were never going to escape.”

On platforms like TikTok, some fans of the New Jersey rockers mistook the "common people" line for "non-alternative" or "mainstream" people, ironically using the lyrics to claim it's about celebrating uniqueness. Many younger fans have made videos celebrating how they are not like the "common people", losing the initial message of the track.

While everyone is allowed to interpret a song in their own way, some commentators have found the "misinterpretation" offensive. After all, the themes of class tourism are still as important today as they were in the 1990s when Jarvis Cocker wrote the track.

'Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman' Star Dies at 87

6 hours 53 min ago

Actress Louise Lasser, whose unforgettable performance in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman helped reshape television comedy in the 1970s, has died at age 87. Her friend Susan Charlotte confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Lasser died of natural causes Monday, June 6, at her Manhattan home.

Lasser was married to writer/director Woody Allen from 1966 to 1970, though their creative partnership extended far beyond the end of their marriage. She appeared in five Allen films, including Take the Money and Run, Bananas and Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask), it was her starring role as Mary Hartman that made her a television icon.

Premiering in 1976, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman was unlike anything audiences had seen before. Developed by Norman Lear as a satire of soap operas and American consumer culture, the syndicated series aired five nights a week and mixed absurd comedy with surprisingly dark storylines involving family dysfunction, consumerism, religion, violence and mental health. Its influence can still be seen in later offbeat series that blended comedy and discomfort in equal measure.

Ironically, Lasser almost passed on the role.

In a 2014 interview with Parade, she admitted she "literally didn't get it" when Lear first approached her about the series. It took five meetings before she agreed to star in it, trusting the legendary producer's instincts.

"How could you not be crazy about his work?" she said. "We could try anything. They'd let us try pretty much anything... We found the show as we went along."

Lasser's performance as the endlessly overwhelmed Ohio housewife became the show's emotional center. Wearing Mary's trademark braids and blue smock dress, she portrayed a woman trying to maintain normalcy as increasingly bizarre events unfolded around her. The role earned Lasser an Emmy nomination in 1976 during an era when the television industry struggled to categorize the groundbreaking series.

Looking back decades later, Lasser said she never believed the show was simply ahead of its time.

"I always thought it was a really good show because it touches so many aspects of everything," she told Interview magazine in 2013. "People always say it's way ahead of its time. I never thought it was ahead of its time. I always thought it was of its time."

She also explained that beneath the show's quirky humor was something much more serious.

"The humor came from a great angst inside," Lasser said. "I see it as a sad story."

That emotional depth reached its peak during Mary's famous nervous breakdown storyline, an arc that Lasser herself suggested. Recalling the creative decision, she said that she felt the whole show was leading up to that storyline.

"For me, everything led up to that ... because you can’t be this bombarded without… Do you know what I mean? ... I once said that I thought she was like a survivor that lived in a world that might not be worth surviving in, you know?" Lasser recalled at the time.

Before Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Lasser had built an impressive résumé on stage and screen. She replaced Barbra Streisand in the Broadway production of I Can Get It for You Wholesale, studied with legendary acting teacherSanford Meisner, and became one of Woody Allen's earliest collaborators.

Following the success of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Lasser continued acting with roles on Taxi, It's a Living and, decades later, a memorable recurring role as eccentric artist Beadie on HBO's Girls. She also appeared in films including Requiem for a Dream, Happiness and Mystery Men.

Fifty years after Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman premiered, the series remains one of television's defining cult classics. It was ranked among TV Guide's greatest cult shows and is widely remembered for proving that television comedy could be surreal, unsettling and deeply insightful all at once. Through Lasser's singular performance, Mary Hartman became one of the medium's most unforgettable characters.

’70s Rock Legends Announce Update Amid 2026 Residency

6 hours 54 min ago

The Eagles aren't leaving Las Vegas anytime soon.

On Tuesday, July 7, the '70s rock legends announced yet another extension to their Vegas residency at the Sphere.

The most recent social media announcement read, "Due to overwhelming demand, four additional shows — Friday, December 4, Saturday, December 5, Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12 – have been added to Eagles – Live in Concert at Sphere, the longest-running residency at the revolutionary venue with 68 shows in total."

The presale signup is open now on the website, with presale kicking off on Wednesday, July 15, at 10 AM PT.

The general on-sale for the newly added shows will begin Friday, July 17, at 10 AM. There are also packages available via the Vibee Hotel & Experience starting July 9 at 10 AM PT. Ticket prices reportedly start at $175, including taxes and fees, per Variety.

This isn't the first time the Eagles have extended their multi-year residency, previously adding 6 additional dates in May spanning Sept. and Nov. 2026.

The rockers will now be hitting the stage for two weekends in Dec., ending the year on a high note with their biggest fans.

The Eagles’ residency is now the longest-running at the iconic venue, with a total of 68 shows across their decades-long career. It began in September 2024, giving fans an immersive experience spanning the group’s catalog of hits, including DesperadoTequila Sunrise and Witchy Woman

The current Eagles lineup includes founding member Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with additional touring members including Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, the son of late co-founder Glenn Frey.

While most of the year has seen the rock band playing the Sphere, they also hit the stage for a handful of shows earlier in the year as part of their “The Long Goodbye, Act III” tour.

Henley previously told CBS Sunday Morning that despite the demand, the Sphere residency likely will not extend beyond 2026.

“I think this year will probably be it,” he admitted, acknowledging, “And I’ve said things like that before, but I feel like we’re getting toward the end and that will be fine, too.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Son Reveals the Adorable Reason He Thought His Mom Was Famous

7 hours 14 sec ago

Soon-to-be White Lotus star Charlie Hall recently shared the most heartwarming reason why he thought his mom, Seinfeld icon Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was actually famous.

"It's funny, I don't remember when I sort of figured out the Seinfeld of it all, but I do remember when I was really young, I was convinced that my mom was famous for like just being a mom," he said in a Jenna and Sheinelle interview on Tuesday.

Hall, 29, who is currently starring in Apple TV's Maximum Pleasure, and was just 1 year old when the iconic sitcom wrapped, went on to explain that, "I thought people were asking for her autograph and stuff because she was my mom. I don't remember when that switched, but I do remember being surprised when other moms wouldn't get [asked] because I'm like, 'Wait, they're also moms, what's going on here?'"

Fast forward and Hall has been following in his mom's footsteps, first by attending her alma mater of Northwestern University and now going on to star in several TV series, including Ryan Murphy's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story in 2024.

When it came to scoring a coveted role on The White Lotus, Hall recalled the moment he shared the news with her.

"I called her, and she was with my dad, and I remember her kind of being [like], 'He got it, he got it, he got it, he got it,'" he said. "It was really, really sweet. She's just so stoked, really just excited for me to be on a show of this quality, just because it's really, really, really good."

The HBO series, which has followed a changing cast of characters during their hotel stay at 'The White Lotus' for three seasons now, will head to Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, and Paris for its fourth installment. Along with Hall, the series will also star Laura Dern, who will be replacing Helena Bonham Carter after she exited the show,Sandra Bernhard, Steve Coogan, and Kumail Nanjiani.

"It's so good, and Mike White is incredible," Hall said of the series' creator.

Louis-Dreyfus shares Hall with husband, actor, and filmmaker, Brad Hall. The couple, who got married in 1987, are also parents to Henry, 34, who is a musician and also an actor.

1969 Soft Rock Track, Inspired by a Bandmate's Wife, Became a No. 1 Anthem About Love

7 hours 9 min ago

George Harrison was ready to prove he was just as good a songwriter as his Beatles bandmatesJohn Lennon and Paul McCartneywhen he wrote the track "Something," which became one of their biggest love songs of all time.

While the Beatles undoubtedly have plenty of love songs, "Something" has quite an interesting backstory about its inspiration based on certain accounts, even Harrison's. The track's development began in September 1968 while the band was working on their self-titled double album. It wasn't released until 1969 as part of Abbey Road before it became a single.

According to reports, Harrison stopped working on the track when he felt the lyrics were coming to him too easily and worried he was taking the melody from another song. In reality, the opening lyrics were taken from James Taylor's "Something in the Way She Moves," with a composition inspired by Ray Charles.

Believe it or not, "Something" was rejected by the band at the time due to Lennon and McCartney showing little interest in his ideas. Producer George Martin was also unimpressed and called it "too weak and derivative." By the time Abbey Road was worked on, Harrison became more assertive about including his work.

"Something" was originally eight minutes long due to a jam-session piano solo by Lennon. It was later cut down to the released version by almost three minutes. The track was considered the best from the album by Lennon and landed at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Tagged as one of the Beatles' greatest love songs, its inspiration has a few different stories. Many believe "Something" was written about Pattie Boyd, Harrison's first wife, with her even claiming the musician told her it was about her.

“George wrote a song called ‘Something,’” wrote Boyd in her 2007 book, Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me. “He told me in a matter-of-fact way that he had written it for me. I thought it was beautiful and it turned out to be the most successful song he ever wrote, with more than 150 cover versions."

Well, Harrison would debunk what she said and give another backstory behind the track's inspiration. He would at first claim it was "maybe Pattie, probably" that inspired the classic. Harrison would later reveal to a friend from the Hare Krishna Movement that the song was about the Hindu deity Krishna, and told Rolling Stone that his love songs focused on "all love is part of a universal love. When you love a woman, it's the God in her that you see."

By the late 1990's, Harrison would deny "Something" being about Boyd because "everybody presumed I wrote it about Pattie." He explained it was likely due to how the film that accompanied the track showed scenes of them and other couples together.

11 Best Caffeine Eye Creams That Actually Combat Puffiness and Dark Circles, Tested by Dermatologists

When you need a jolt of energy in the morning, you likely reach for your favorite caffeinated beverage. Whether coffee or tea is your preferred drink, you know it'll do the trick and leave you feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, as a popular saying goes.

If you're actually seeking bright eyes, caffeine can also work wonders when used in skincare products, particularly eye creams. Not familiar with this brilliant skincare trick? That's OK, because we consulted dermatologists to get their picks for the 11 best caffeine eye creams that actually combat puffiness and dark circles.

But first, we wanted to understand what causes these two beauty concerns in the first place. As it turns out, there are a number of possible reasons.

"Puffy eyes and dark circles are usually caused by a combination of aging, genetics, fluid retention, allergies, irritation and lifestyle factors, including lack of sleep, irritating cosmetics and high-salt diets," Dr. Jodi LogerfoDNP, APRN, FNP-BC, DCNP, tells Parade.

Logerfo, who specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, says the tissues and ligaments around the eyes weaken as we age.

"Fat pads can shift and the lower eyelid may lose support, creating the appearance of under-eye bags or puffiness," she explains.

Ready to tackle puffiness and dark circles like a pro? We're outlining everything you need to know.

Top Caffeine Eye CreamsHow Does Caffeine Help With Puffiness and Dark Circles?

Dr. Mona Foad, a board-certified dermatologist and the founder of MONA Dermatology, says eye creams often contain caffeine because it can temporarily constrict blood vessels and reduce fluid buildup under the eyes.

"This can make puffiness appear less noticeable and may improve the appearance of certain types of dark circles, particularly those with a vascular or bluish component," she tells Parade. "While caffeine can provide visible improvement, it's important to remember that not all dark circles are caused by the same factors, so results can vary from person to person."

Related: 15 Best Eye Creams for Mature Skin, According to Celebrity Dermatologists

What Percentage of Caffeine Should You Look for in an Eye Cream?

Unfortunately, Foad says most brands don't reveal the exact percentage of caffeine in their eye creams. Moreover, there's no magic number to look for.

"In general, I encourage patients to focus less on the percentage and more on the overall formulation. The ingredients that accompany caffeine and the product's ability to be tolerated consistently are often more important than a specific number on the label," she explains.

How Long Does It Take for Caffeine Eye Cream To Work?

In the world of skincare, there are no miracle cures, but caffeine is an ingredient that works quicker than most.

"Some patients may notice an improvement in puffiness relatively quickly, sometimes within hours of application. However, concerns like dark circles, fine lines and overall skin quality typically require more consistent use over several weeks. Like most skincare products, the best results come from regular, long-term use rather than expecting an immediate transformation," Foad says.

How To Apply Eye Cream Correctly

Sometimes, applying a product incorrectly can spoil the results you could have seen with proper usage. For that reason, it's best to follow the pros' tips below before applying eye cream.

  • Watch your pressure: Foad recommends applying eye cream gently using your ring finger. Logerfo agrees, saying, "Gently dab the product along the orbital bone (under the eyes and around the outer corners), avoiding rubbing or pulling the skin."
  • Less is more: "One of the biggest mistakes people make with eye cream is applying too much product or putting it too close to the lash line. This can cause irritation and dryness and even allow the product to go into the eyes. I recommend applying a dot of eye cream (like a piece of rice) along the orbital bone with gentle pressure and patting it in," Logerfo says.
  • Beware of harsh ingredients: "Another common mistake is using an eye cream that is too strong for the delicate skin around the eyes. Fragrances, harsh active ingredients or products that aren’t formulated for the eye area can trigger irritation, redness, swelling or allergic reactions," Logerfo says.
  • Stay consistent: "Use it morning and/or night after cleansing the skin, and allow it to absorb before applying other products or makeup," Logerfo says.
What Other Ingredients Work Well With Caffeine in Eye Cream?

Certain ingredients simply make each other better. In caffeine's case, the ingredient typically plays well with hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants and niacinamide.

"Hyaluronic acid helps improve hydration, peptides can support collagen production and antioxidants help protect against environmental damage. I generally look for formulations that address multiple concerns at once since puffiness, dark circles, dehydration and fine lines often occur together," Foad tells Parade.

Jodie Foster Says F1's Oscar Win Proves Her Point About AI

7 hours 24 min ago

A packed room at the Aspen Ideas Festival went quiet when Jodie Foster floated a theory about one of last year's biggest hits. F1, she suggested, might not have strictly come from a screenwriter at all.

Foster shared the idea during a conversation titled "Who Owns the Future of Hollywood," seated alongside former Sony Pictures chief Michael Lynton. She wasn't trying to insult Joseph Kosinski's racing drama, which grossed more than $634 million worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Sound. She was making a broader point about how formulaic modern blockbusters have become, and how easily that formula gets mistaken for the fingerprints of generative AI.

Foster prefaced the comment by noting she wasn't being critical, since the film made the studio a fortune. Then she said it outright: "F1 was made by AI. Wasn’t it?"

She backed up the theory with specifics. The story beats hit exactly where a film school syllabus would put them, she said, and the dialogue sounded as though it was written by a computer trained on big box office successes. Foster credited the filmmakers with using that formula to make something big and beautiful, even as she wondered how much of the underlying material came from elsewhere.

Foster isn't alone. A review from Consequence had already flagged Brad Pitt's performance as a somewhat distorted version of his basic movie star persona, and pointed to long stretches where corporate logos dominate the frame, the kind of surface-level polish critics increasingly describe as algorithmic.

Related: Fans Beg Amazon to 'Cancel' Movie Over Colleen Hoover News

The comment comes during a tense time for Hollywood, where AI has become the industry's most divisive subject. Foster acknowledged the technology is already displacing crowd scene actors and other jobs, but said unions could adapt by requiring studios to pay performers for every use of their likeness. She added that she thinks that's fair.

She isn't opposed to AI outright. Foster said the tool can help with small tasks like previsualization and storyboarding, and revealed that her 2025 French film "A Private Life" used AI to generate a dream sequence. The resulting images made no sense, but she found them striking anyway.

Foster's larger argument was about control, not prohibition. If filmmakers can master the technology rather than be replaced by it, she said, the industry can use AI to make films that still reflect human judgment. Whether that balance stays long-term, she admitted, is an open question. After all, the industry has been reshaped by new technology every few decades, from the studio system's birth in the 1920s through television, home video and streaming.

Representatives for F1 and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Foster's remarks.

GMA Selects Author Daniel Mason's 'Joyful' New Novel 'Country People' as Book Club Pick For July 2026

7 hours 29 min ago

Good Morning Americahas officially selected best-selling writer Daniel Mason's new book, Country People, as its pick for July 2026's GMA Book Club, providing readers with their next beach book read of the season, according to People.

The publisher's description for Country People reads, "Miles Krzelewski is a devoted husband, a doting father beloved for his outlandish bedtime stories, and the proud owner of a truffle-hunting dog in a land with no truffles. He is also a bit lost, twelve years late with his PhD on Russian folktales and increasingly haunted by a sense that he’s become a disappointment to his family."

"So when his wife, Kate, accepts a visiting professorship at a prestigious college in the faraway forests of Vermont, he decides that this will be the year to finally move forward with his life," the descirption continues. "No sooner does he arrive than he finds himself entangled with a cast of characters as colorful as those of any of his folktales, from a ghostly tree surgeon to a scythe-mad biochemist, from a Shakespearean temptress to a photographer of snowflakes obsessed with chronicling, on thousands of index cards, the world’s delusions in an Inventory of Wrong Ideas."

Arriving in bookstores nationwide on July 7, Country People has already won significant renown from mainstream readers and critics, with many favorably comparing it to Mason's critically well-received 2023 novel North Woods.

"This is, put simply, a joyful book – and the deeper you dig, the more joyful it becomes," deemed The Guardian.

Discussing his new book with People, Mason said that he believes Country People taps into the tradition of Alice in Wonderland and other transformative works, something he believes will help transport readers to a world beyond their wildest imaginations.

“Miles is a folklore scholar and he comes to Vermont thinking it’s gonna to help him with his research into Russian folktales,” Mason said. “What happens, though, is he encounters a real-life legend of southern Vermont [and] meets a group of enthusiasts who believe that somewhere in the mountains there’s a kind of portal, almost like a magical portal, into an underworld and really into an earth that is somehow hollow.”

1978 No. 1 Hit Is One of the Greatest Disco Songs Ever— and Science Says It Boosts Your Mood

7 hours 38 min ago

Turns out, the urge to blast an up-tempo anthem after a bad breakup does more than set the vibe. According to cognitive neuroscience, it creates a predictable physiological response to a precise sonic formula.

Dr. Jacob Jolij, a researcher analyzing the relationship between sound and brain chemistry, shared the reasoning behind how a song can make a listener feel better. His study evaluated tracks based on three criteria: a tempo tracking at a minimum of 150 beats per minute, positive lyrics, and a major or minor key.

The resulting data explains why tracks like Gloria Gaynor’s "I Will Survive" make listeners feel better after a break up. The notes hit the mathematical sweet spot required to alter a listener's psychological state. While traditional break up songs mirror the slow, minor-key cadence of grief, Jolij’s research suggests the brain requires a physical jolt to turn away from negative emotions. At 150 beats per minute, a track forces an involuntary response. The nervous system is piqued by the rhythm, reading the melody as forward momentum.

The song, which made the list of one of the greatest disco hits of all time, also relies on narrative contrast. The song begins in a vulnerable position, acknowledging the pain of the split, before transitioning into a message of self-reliance. When that thematic shift pairs with a scientifically proven driving bassline, it essentially rewires the listener's immediate emotional outlook.

Though Jolij’s final list of songs that make listeners happy leans on older, Anglophone pop titles, the underlying mechanics remain consistent across eras, populating a ten-track playlist of scientifically verified mood lifters.

Queen’s "Don’t Stop Me Now" is a win for mood elevation, followed by the driving pop rhythms of ABBA’s "Dancing Queen" and The Beach Boys’ "Good Vibrations." The data highlights a pattern: high-velocity hooks deliver the fastest emotional recovery. Billy Joel’s "Uptown Girl," Survivor’s iconic anthem "Eye of the Tiger," and The Monkees’ "I’m a Believer" all meet the 150 BPM threshold, proving that rock and pop can often utilize the exact same neurological triggers.

While the music industry frequently turns out sad songs for the heartbroken, the data indicates that crying in slow tempo can prolong an emotional slump. Instead, those looking for a boost should turn to Cyndi Lauper’s "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," Bon Jovi’s "Livin’ on a Prayer," or Katrina & The Waves’ "Walking on Sunshine", with each utilizing momentum to override the stress hormones that keep listeners glum.

Publix Issues Recall of Popular Freezer Staple for This Concerning Reason

7 hours 51 min ago

Let me guess: you’ve suddenly got blueberry fever and can’t seem to get enough of the sweet-tart purple (yes, purple) berry now that summer is in full swing? Your fridge is brimming with clamshells full of them, ready to be turned into jam or folded into pancakes, and you’ve already been berry-picking at least twice so far this season. We can’t say we blame you. Blueberries are at their peak during the warm summer months, and while you can find them pretty much year-round, there’s something about enjoying them at the epitome of ripeness that feels almost transcendent.

Pies taste sweeter, smoothies are more vibrant and even our drab morning oatmeal transforms into a moment worth waking up for. Of course, when it comes to reliability, fresh blueberries can vary drastically in terms of taste and they’re notorious for spoiling before you even get a chance to enjoy them. It’s a chance we’re willing to take for some of the season’s best, but we’ll also settle for frozen blueberries if we’re in a pinch.

Publix Issues Recall of Greenwise Frozen Blueberries Over E. coli Concerns

Miami Herald / Getty Images

Not only are frozen berries picked and packed when they’re at their ripest, but they’re typically cheaper in comparison to their fresh counterparts and you can find them long after berry season is over. Sounds like a win-win to me! But before you race to the freezer aisle to stock up, you might want to think twice before tossing them into your cart. In an earth-shattering blow to berry lovers everywhere, Publix just issued a recall of its popular Greenwise Organic Individually Quick Frozen Blueberries over potential E. coli contamination.

How to Identify Recalled Berries

The berries in question were first recalled by the company Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. of San Carlos, Chile, which produces the fruit for Publix. According to a news release from the retailer, the affected product was shipped and sold in 8 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. You can identify the affected blueberries by using the following information:

  • Product: Frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries
  • Package Size: 10 oz
  • Lot Code: 60401
  • Best By Date: February 9, 2028

Publix is advising customers who may have purchased any frozen GreenWise blueberries on or before July 3, 2026, to return or discard them immediately. So far, no other lot codes or products have been included in the recall. Unfortunately, the news comes amid 12 confirmed cases of gastrointestinal illnesses, with some being reported after consumers ate the potentially contaminated frozen blueberries.

What E. coli Symptoms to Look Out For

As far as E. coli symptoms go, they typically include diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting and can appear after three to four days. Luckily for most healthy adults, an E. coli infection doesn’t require special treatment and will go away on its own with rest and hydration. With blueberries being such a hot-ticket item this time of year, it might be a good idea to double-check your freezer, just to be on the safe side. We’ll be keeping an eye on this situation as it unfolds, but in the meantime we’ll just stick to strawberries.

Taylor Swift's Wedding Dress Designer Has This to Say About the Process

7 hours 55 min ago

It's a love story, she said yes... and now, everyone waits patiently for the pics.

At least it's been confirmed that both Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were dressed in Christian Dior haute couture for their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, per Women's Wear Daily.

The fashion magazine actually just spoke to the brains behind the operation — AKA the designer of Swift's wedding dress we're all dying to see. Jonathan Anderson reflected on his experience with the 36-year-old billionaire pop star.

“It was a joy to work with her. We became very good friends,” the fashion designer, 41, told WWD. “It’s an emotional thing doing someone’s wedding.”

View this post on Instagram

“This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity,” read a statement confirming the couple’s nuptials, per Billboard, adding that Swift and Kelce, 36, both wore custom Christian Louboutin shoes.

Swift accessorized her wedding day attire with pieces of Cartier jewelry, per WWD. Numerous high-profile figures joined the couple on Friday to celebrate, dressed in monochrome, black-tie attire.

The reception reportedly featured surprise performances from Paul McCartney, who sang the Beatles classic “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” as well as Stevie Nicks

Even fans outside Madison Square Garden found themselves joining the celebration. Videos circulating online appeared to show one lucky Swiftie receiving a pastry box that many believed had come from the wedding reception, turning an ordinary dessert into one of the weekend’s most talked-about souvenirs.

Adam Sandler officiated, and according to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, the comedian's biggest piece of advice for the newlyweds couldn’t have been simpler. “Adam Sandler conducted the service there, and he told them to ‘keep kissing.’ In its simplest form. That’s a good thing,” Reid recalled in a video shared by Deseret.

“It’s hard to argue when you give your wife a kiss or your wife gives you a kiss… And make sure you do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to. Knock it out, and you won’t have any problems.”

'90s Rock Band Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 38 Years After Forming

7 hours 57 min ago

Nearly four decades after forming, Deftones are still finding new ways to climb the charts.

The influential alternative metal band has returned to the Billboard charts this week, with its landmark 2000 album White Pony re-entering the Top Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 24. The latest milestone continues a remarkable resurgence for the Sacramento group, whose music has found an ever-growing audience more than 38 years after the band first came together in 1988.

The renewed success follows one of the biggest achievements of Deftones' career.

In 2025, the band earned its first-ever No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with "My Mind Is a Mountain," a milestone that arrived more than three decades after frontman Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter and their bandmates first began performing together.

The momentum has also sparked renewed interest in one of the group’s most celebrated albums.

Released in 2000, White Pony marked a creative turning point for Deftones. Expanding beyond the aggressive sound of the band's earlier releases, the album blended alternative metal with elements of shoegaze, dream pop and experimental rock, producing a collection that has since become one of the defining records of the era.

"We came off a couple of records that were pretty successful, but I felt like we had a lot more to do," Moreno told Louder of making White Pony. "A bigger voice, and really no rules."

That freedom laid the groundwork for a fun, yet productive series of recording sessions.

"I had a little recording set-up in the kitchen, and we'd throw around ideas real quick, and then do a little bit of work, and we drank a lot of champagne," Moreno recalled. "We'd have Mimosa Mondays, and then it turned into Mimosa Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Thursdays. We had a blast, seriously, hanging out and being young adults in a nice studio making a record that we wanted to make. We were living our best life at that time."

Moreno, who had up until that point been strictly the band's vocalist, started playing guitar. His rudimentary skills were a sharp contrast to Carpenter's deft approach, resulting in creative tensions.

"I suppose I came round a little to Chino's way of thinking when we were doing White Pony, and I like those songs a lot better now than I did," Carpenter told Guitar World. "I guess it's important to explore different directions, and it was time for a change."

Songs including "Change (In the House of Flies)," "Digital Bath," "Knife Prty" and the Grammy-winning "Elite" helped establish White Pony as both a commercial and critical success. The album eventually achieved platinum certification in the United States and is now widely regarded as one of the most influential rock albums of the 21st century.

Its impact has only grown with time.

Long embraced by devoted fans, White Pony has experienced a remarkable second life thanks to younger listeners discovering the album through streaming platforms and social media. The record's atmospheric production and genre-blending approach have also influenced countless modern rock and metal artists, cementing its reputation as one of Deftones' defining achievements.

"At that time, especially after Around The Fur, a lot of bands were coming out and the nu-metal stigma was starting to brew and we were getting tossed in with that whole category of music," Moreno told Kerrang!. "White Pony was our answer to it, just to get experimental and try different things and not follow any formulas that we had stumbled upon before."

Now, its return to the Billboard charts serves as another reminder that the band's legacy continues to evolve.

Thirty-eight years after Deftones first formed, the group is reaching new milestones while introducing classic albums like White Pony to another generation of fans. Few bands remain this relevant so deep into their careers, and the latest chart resurgence suggests Deftones' influence is only continuing to grow.

Low-Profile Royal Shares Photos of 'Madly Magical' Wedding on Instagram

8 hours 2 min ago

A distant cousin of Prince William who recently said, "I do" is giving her followers a glimpse into her big day.

Lady Marina Windsor, who is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth's first cousin, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, took to Instagram on Monday to share a carousel of photos of her wedding that took place on June 20, 2026, in North Yorkshire, England.

View this post on Instagram

"Well that was FUN!!" she wrote of the photo gallery. "Magical madness and madly magical moment to moment. Lots of glowy hearts gathering to celebrate love on the summer solstice. We feel so lucky and grateful and still revelling in all the joy and beauty of these special days."

The photos, which of course included shots of the 33-year-old and her now-husband, Nico Macauley, also featured their ceremony and its colorful seasonal aesthetic. Pics also showed her posing with loved ones and gorgeous decor details. Additional photos shared by Hello! also showed the bride at what looked to be her after party where she changed into a second look — a white cropped tank top and matching skirt.

According to the Telegraph UK, her wedding dress was made by sustainable designer Larissa von Planta, and her tiara was a family heirloom that was also worn by her mother Lady Helen Windsor and her grandmother, Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, who died last year. While Prince William and Kate Middleton did not attend Lady Marina's nuptials, they were together at the Duchess' funeral in September of 2025.

While Duke Edward, 90, is 42nd in line for the throne, Lady Marina was confirmed in the Catholic church in 2008, and therefore removed herself from royal succession. According to UK outlet Tatler, she is the philanthropic executive of nonprofit, The Big Give.

Lady Marina isn't the only under-the-radar royal to tie the knot in June, as earlier in the month Princess Anne's son Peter Phillips got married for the second time to Harriet Sperling. First cousin to William, he and Middleton attended the nuptials.

You May Want To Stop Pairing This Popular Food With Your Morning Coffee, Dietitians Warn

8 hours 16 min ago

"But first, coffee" is a phrase that's been engraved on coffee mugs everywhere. And it's a saying for a reason: For many of us, coffee is something we often brew before we pick up a spoon to eat rolled oats, chia seed pudding or other breakfasts rich with a nourishing mix of fiber, protein and healthy fats.

Sipping coffee first thing in the morning has its pros and cons. "Coffee is usually consumed on an empty stomach, so when it's paired with certain foods, it's much easier to notice how they interact," explains Dr. Chris Mohr, Ph.D., RD, a fitness and nutrition advisor for Garage Gym Reviews. "Since a lot of people have a morning routine they repeat every day, those pairings can affect both your digestion and how you feel throughout your day."

That's not to say that you can't drink coffee and eat at the same time. In fact, food can help slow the absorption of caffeine (so your energy picks up without you getting shaky) and help guard against heartburn. But it's important to choose the right foods.

"Knowing how different foods or drinks may affect you throughout the day can help you make more informed breakfast choices," Dr. Mohr tells Parade

To help you make these choices, registered dietitians share the one food they're begging people to stop (or at least think about before) pairing with morning coffee.

Stop Pairing This Popular Food With Their Morning Coffee, RDs Say

According to registered dietitians, it's best to think before pairing grapefruit with your morning coffee, and to tune in to your body if you do. It's not "bad" for everyone, but whole grapefruit and grapefruit juice can prolong the effects of caffeine, trigger heartburn and interact with certain medications.

"I suggest you space grapefruit at least 10 hours away from caffeine to allow most of the caffeine—about 75%—to clear from your body on its own," explains Julia Zumpano, RD, a Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian. "Caffeine can take up to 25 to 30 hours to be almost completely cleared from your system."

That said, keep in mind that we're all different in how we metabolize caffeine. "If you are a slow metabolizer of caffeine and notice increased negative side effects when consuming caffeine and grapefruit on the same day, it should be avoided completely," Zumpano clarifies. "For medications that interact with grapefruit, you should avoid it completely or ask your pharmacist."

She says that grapefruit juice is often more concentrated than whole fruit, so you may notice even longer caffeine buzzes or worse heartburn or interactions with medications.

Does Grapefruit Make Caffeine Last Longer?

Grapefruit may make your coffee-induced energy jolt last longer. Decades-old (1990s!) research is mixed, with some studies suggesting it does and others not finding the effect.

Here's why grapefruit and coffee can combine to make caffeine last longer: Grapefruit may slow a pathway in your body, CYP1A2, explains Malina Malkani, MS, RDN, CDN, LDN, a nutrition expert and the owner of Malina Malkani Nutrition. It's responsible for breaking down caffeine and helping your body clear it.

The extended buzz may or may not be a selling point. "For people who are already sensitive to caffeine, having it stick around longer can tip them into feeling overcaffeinated—jittery, anxious or like their heart is racing even hours after their last sip," says Malkani, who is also the author of Safe and Simple Food Allergy Prevention. "It can also disturb sleep if the caffeine hasn't fully cleared by bedtime, but for most people, this possible change in clearance is subtle and often not noticeable."

Other Ways Pairing Grapefruit and Coffee Can Affect Your Body

Besides extending caffeine's effects, whole grapefruit and grapefruit juice might interact with medications and contribute to heartburn.

Dr. Mohr says that CYP1A2, the same enzyme that helps your body clear caffeine, also helps it break down many medications before they reach your bloodstream. "When that enzyme is blocked, more of the drug remains in your system and can build up to higher-than-intended levels, an effect that can last a couple of days," he explains.

Dr. Mohr notes that the medications most likely to be affected include:

  • Cholesterol-lowering statins
  • Some blood pressure and heart rhythm drugs
  • Organ-transplant medications
  • Certain anti-anxiety medications
  • Some allergy medicines

Zumpano notes that you'll want to get specific about the medications that you're taking with your healthcare provider or pharmacist if you want to pair coffee and grapefruit. She also suggests reading any information provided with your prescription or non-prescription drug to find out:
