Kenny the Pony does not care that Eddie is a sheep. He never got the memo that horses and sheep are supposed to ignore each other. Every time his caretaker lets him back into the front pasture at Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary, a 10-acre farm in Ontario, Canada, he trots straight to Eddy’s fence, plants his hooves, and waits.

It’s like he is saying, “Can Eddie come out and play?”

Their friendship started about four months ago, and in that short window the two have become inseparable. Kenny dances at the gate, while Eddy bolts over the second it opens. They then chase each other across the main pasture like brothers who haven’t seen each other in a week, even though it’s been maybe an hour.

Some Friendships Don’t Need an Explanation

Kenny and Eddie live on Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary, a nonprofit animal sanctuary for farm animals in need.

In the sanctuary’s most recent video, Kenny just finished his massage session. After that type of pampering, most animals would just lie around, but the second he was released, he hurried to the front pasture and found his friend Eddie hanging out behind the fence.

Eddie has been separated from the female sheep on the farm because he has not yet been neutered. He spends his days in a section of the pasture where he can see the flock but cannot mingle with them unsupervised.

That arrangement had the unexpected side effect of making Kenny Eddie’s primary companion. The moment the gate opens, the two go into their usual routine. They graze side by side, play chase, and bump into each other.

At the end of the latest video, Kenny delivered his signature move, a drive-by booty bite. That’s his love language.

Animals Thrive in Cross-Species Friendships

Farm animals can form bonds that don’t follow the species chart. Goats pair up with dogs. Cows adopt barn cats. And now we have a sheep and a pony becoming brothers. That’s not even the strangest combination out there.

I would like to know whether this veterinary clinic is licensed to treat bears because there appears to be one waiting inside a kennel. The vet cheerfully says, “Hey everyone, meet Ivan,” before reaching inside and lifting out an absolutely enormous black Maine Coon.

The reveal is incredible. Ivan just keeps coming out of that kennel until the vet is holding what looks like 40 feet of shiny black fur, giant paws, and tail. She explains that he weighs 20 pounds but somehow feels even heavier, which makes sense. Ivan has the presence of a cat who requires two people and a loading dock.

The glorious introduction was shared by veterinarian @dr_lindsaybutzer, who asks viewers, “Isn’t Ivan so beautiful, you guys?” Yes. Ivan is beautiful, but I also feel like we should offer him a salmon and slowly back away.

Viewers were equally stunned by the gentle giant’s size and appearance. “Looks like a big furry black panther,” one person wrote.

Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, and adult males can sometimes reach or exceed 20 pounds. Their long bodies, muscular builds, enormous paws, and thick coats can also make them look even larger than the number on the scale suggests.

These cats grow slowly compared with many other breeds and may continue filling out for several years. Still, being a Maine Coon does not automatically mean every higher weight is healthy. A veterinarian can evaluate a cat’s body condition, frame, muscle mass, and overall health instead of judging by pounds alone.

Ivan certainly carries his size well. He remains calm while the vet lifts and displays him, looking less like a nervous patient and more like the clinic’s new management.

There is something especially striking about an all-black Maine Coon. The long dark coat, big ears, and serious expression create the appearance of a wild animal, while the sweet personality underneath remains pure house cat.

The TikTok from @sharing.lov3 told Molly’s story and how fearful she is in her new environment.

“She looked terrified, almost like she just wanted to disappear,” the caption explained.
“I went into her kennel and she was so sweet and let me pet her. I could tell she wanted love, but she was just too scared by this unfamiliar place.”

Molly’s family was relocating and decided to leave her behind because of her energy level. The tenderhearted dog was completely confused and brokenhearted.


“She had lived with her family her entire life, but just five days ago, they surrendered her to the shelter,” the story continued. “They said they were moving and couldn’t handle her energy anymore. Molly doesn’t understand what happened. She doesn’t know why she suddenly lost the only home and family she had ever known… She’s scared.”

Molly Has Heartworm

A shelter staff member took Molly out of her kennel and saw the precious pooch transform with a simple loving gesture.

“This terrified dog who had been hiding in the back of her kennel suddenly climbed onto my lap, gave me the biggest hug, and started licking my face,” the caption shared. “Inside her kennel, all she does is hide. But outside of her kennel, I saw a completely different Molly. She was sweet, loving, and happy to be around people. She has never met a stranger and loves everyone she meets.”

Molly tested positive for heartworm, putting her at more of a health risk in a shelter environment. The shelter will cover all of Molly’s treatment at no cost to potential in-state adopters.

The tenderhearted canine cutie needs a true forever home that will give her the love she deserves. Molly would make a wonderful addition to any family and is just waiting for someone to give her a chance.

I’m not sure how a dog can look like he spent 40 years working at the docks before retiring to a quiet seaside cottage, but this adorable hairless Dachshund has managed it. It’s the combination of his bald little head, magnificent gray beard, and cozy sweater that makes him look less like a dog and more like somebody’s tiny grandpa waiting for the morning paper.

I have never walked into a doctor’s office and thought oh good, snacks, but apparently I have been doing appointments all wrong. Little Azure is a tiny silver and dark grey Pomsky puppy who recently went to the veterinarian for her vaccinations, and she found something MUCH more interesting than whatever everyone else thought she was there to do.

The tiny Pomsky ends up crawling around on her veterinarian’s shoulders, which is already adorable enough, but then she spots all that long hair dangling right there in front of her face. And you can practically watch the puppy thought process happen: Hmm. What is this? Should I eat it? I’m going to eat it.

Puppies explore the world with their mouths, so grabbing, chewing and trying to eat things they absolutely should not is pretty standard puppy behavior. Niall Harbison often places the street dogs he saves through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, into forever homes. People from around the world follow Harbison on his social media accounts and frequently find a fur baby they want to add to their family.

Jimbo is a sweet dog rescued by Harbison who recently found out that he is adopted and literally couldn’t contain his excitement.

The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo told Jimbo’s story and showed how he was abandoned and left to fend for himself before his rescue.

“When we first found Jimbo, he had been abandoned and left all alone on the streets,” the caption explained. “He was in a bad way and suddenly had to figure out how to survive by himself.”

Jimbo had extensive wounds on his neck and was in severe pain, so Harbison and his team immediately took him for medical treatment. The precious pooch recuperated so well, he was given a job at the rescue organization.

“We brought him in, got him the help he needed and slowly watched him become the happy, healthy boy you see today,” the story continued. “He even landed himself the very important role of kitchen guard here at the land.”

Jimbo Is Headed to England

The canine cutie won over the heart of a family in England and was officially adopted. He’ll be going there soon and is sure to be greeted with a very warm welcome.

As soon as Jimbo heard the news, he broke into a ‘roll in the grass’ happy dance and then sprinted down the street in the hopes of going straight to his forever home.

“When we broke the news to him, he was so excited that he immediately ran off to start his journey,” the caption shared. ‘We had to explain that there are still a few things to sort out first.”

While he waits to go to his new home, Jimbo is back on the job and getting plenty of love and affection from the Happy Doggo team.

“For now, it’s back to his kitchen guard duties, but it won’t be long, Jimbo,” the story concluded. “Your family is waiting for you.”

Every dog around Mary Poppins found a family. She watched them go, one by one, from the same kennel at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The 5-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix has been the shelter’s longest resident for some time now. While staff and volunteers call her perfect, would-be adopters keep walking past her kennel, so they decided to do something about it.

The shelter took Mary out of the kennel for the day, gave her the full MVP treatment, and introduced her to someone who knows a thing or two about being an MVP.

Mary’s dream day started the way most great days should: with zoomies in the garden. Staff took her outside and let her run. Then came fries, shared with her handler, because even MVPs need a good meal.

The best moment came when she visited the VIP section at the Florida Panthers IcePlex. There, she met Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett and greeted him as she does with everyone else—with lots of kisses. He returned the favor with a Panthers jersey.

In the video shared by the Humane Society of Broward County, Mary does not look like a dog who has been stuck in a kennel for months. Instead, she looks like a dog waiting to show someone exactly who she is.

How Mary Lost Her Home

Mary did not end up in the shelter because she was abandoned or did anything wrong. Her family’s landlord stopped allowing dogs in the building. One policy change, and Mary lost her home.

Since arriving at the Humane Society, she developed skin allergies. Shelter environments can aggravate the condition. The staff manages her skin, and whoever adopts her will have to continue that maintenance with a loving indoor home and routine veterinary care.

The Dog Everyone Loves

Everyone at the shelter knows Mary is a great dog. She comes when they call her, loves playing with toys, gets plenty of treats and enjoys walks. Mary is happiest when she’s around people.

On Instagram, people can see why she’s so special. “What a Sweetheart. Somebody will be lucky to have her. I hope this Sweet Soul gets a loving home soon,” one person wrote.

“I hope Mary gets adopted soon, she will make a new family happier and deserves a chance to be loved,” another person added.

The Hockey Connection That Can Change Mary’s Future

In addition to playing in the NHL, Bennett founded Benny’s Buddies after his fiancée began volunteering at the Humane Society of Broward County.

The organization’s mission is pretty straightforward: every time Bennett scores a goal during the season, a pet at the shelter has its adoption fee paid. The couple has also adopted a dog from the shelter themselves.

To date, dozens of pets have found homes through the program with their adoption fees covered by Bennett. Mary’s fee has already been paid, so whoever decides that Mary belongs in their family has one less financial hurdle.

I’ve always thought you can learn a lot by stopping long enough to watch what animals are doing.

The woman behind this video clearly feels the same way. In her post caption, she remembers being 10 years old and believing a robin might communicate with her and lead her to a secret garden.

Now in her 30’s, she’s apparently still listening.

And this time, it may have saved a little life.

The video begins with several ducks floating together. Nothing seems particularly unusual until the camera focuses on one bird whose head is slumped into the water.

Something is very wrong.

The other ducks seem to notice too.

The woman describes them as looking heartbroken, but then they do something even stranger. The ducks appear to guide their struggling friend toward the human watching them.

I immediately got chills.

When the duck gets closer, the woman notices her eyes are still open. She’s alive, but she can’t seem to move properly and is breathing in water.

The woman reaches down and gently lifts her head above the surface.

My goodness.

She gives the exhausted bird a chance to breathe and rest before eventually letting her go. The duck I still wobbly when she leaves, but she’s moving again.

And her friends stay right there with her.

I cannot imagine witnessing this in real life.

The woman asks the same question everyone watching probably has: Were these ducks actually trying to get a human to help their friend?

We can’t know exactly what they understood or intended. But watching them stay close and seemingly move the struggling duck toward her certainly makes you wonder.

One commenter firmly believed the flock knew their friend needed help, pointing out that birds can be far cleverer than people sometimes assume.

Another had a much funnier interpretation of animal rescue moments: animals either seem cautiously hopeful that they’ve finally found a decent human or absolutely thrilled that “the ones with thumbs” have arrived.

I laughed, but honestly?

That’s exactly what this looks like.

The original video calls it on elf the craziest duck stories she’s experienced, and I understand why.

Whether those ducks deliberately asked for help or the woman simply noticed their behavior at exactly the right moment, she was paying attention when it mattered.

Thank goodness she was.

What Should You Do If You Find an Injured Duck?

If you find a wild duck that can’t stand, move normally, or keep itself safely above water, getting professional guidance is important. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recommends contacting a licensed wildlife rehabilitator when a wild bird is genuinely injured rather than attempting long-term care yourself.

A few things you can do:

• Observe before intervening. Make sure the bird is actually injured and not simply resting or behaving normally.
• Keep people and pets back. Giving an injured bird space can help reduce additional stress.
• Call a wildlife professional. Get instructions before capturing, transporting, feeding, or treating the bird yourself.

I still don’t know whether those ducks were asking for help.

But I’m awfully glad someone was listening.

Sometimes, a dog’s name is so perfectly fitting for what they resemble that it is a true match made in heaven. That is definitely the case with this rare Albino Shih-Tzu named Marshmallow.

What Makes an Albino Shih-Tzu So Rare?

There is a good chance this is the first Albino Shih-Tzu you have ever seen, which indicates that this is a very rare type of dog. So how rare is an Albino Shih-Tzu?

Genetics-wise, Albino Shih-Tzus are unique.

Both parents have to carry a mutated gene for the puppy to be Albino, even though they may not display the Albino trait themselves.

In many dog breeds that produce Albino dogs, it is the TYR gene, which helps the body produce an enzyme called tyrosinase, that is affected.

Tyrosinase contributes to the production of melanin, the pigment that determines the color of a dog’s coat, skin, and eyes.

If the TYR gene has certain mutations, the dog may not produce enough melanin.

But for Shih-Tzus, it is mutations in the SLC45a2 gene, which also affects tyrosinase, that make the dog Albino.

Albinism is most common in the following breeds, according to The American Kennel Club:

• Doberman Pinscher
• Pug
• Pekingese
• Lhasa Apso
• Pomeranian
• Dachshund

Even though Albino is not a color recognized by the AKC, they are still quite in demand as a color for this popular dog breed.

Some people love the coloring of an Albino Shih-Tzu.

Like Marshmallow, Albino Shih-Tzus typically have blue eyes instead of black or brown.

This beautiful herding dog named Ghünter might look like your typical pup, but he’s got a special influence in his life that makes him different from other pups. 

It looks like it’s family naptime for these guys, and while mom is sitting on the couch with her legs up and two furry cats cuddle up on top of her, the camera pans to the back of the couch where silly Ghünter is sleeping. he doesn’t fit quite as well as a smaller dog might, but he’s channeling his inner cat, and it just works.

Can Dogs Pick Up Behaviors From Cats? What Experts Say

Ghünter, this silly pup might think he’s a cat since all his siblings are, and it really does look like he’s picked up on some of their quirks and traits. According to experts, dogs can really start acting like cats.

According to Wag!, there are some common signs that point to your dog thinking they might actually be a cat, and it’s so cute. They point out that, of course, your dog isn’t consciously deciding to act like their sibling cat, but you can see some of the mannerisms can pop up since dogs are pretty easily influenced by those around them. 

Examples include your dog trying to use the kitty litter, cuddling on the bed pillows like a cat instead of at the foot of the bed, or trying to climb onto the cat tree.

Other quirks you might see your dog doing that are usually more cat-like behavior could be an interest in sitting in a box they don’t fit into, kneading their paws on a soft blanket, or, like this silly pup in the video, sleeping on the back of the couch, despite clearly not fitting there as well as a cat would.

Both of my dogs can have the funniest expressions at times. My senior Dachshund has a way of looking at you that could make your heart melt, then a second later seems like she’s got a major ‘tude. Her Pug brother has a host of expressions that range from friendly to freaked out, and it’s all just part of his charm.

This Australian Kelpie was basically a Scooby-Doo doppelgänger when he caught sight of something that definitely made an impression.

In the TikTok from @jessie_lb, the precious pooch was in the backseat of a car and very well-hidden behind the driver when the video began. The camera panned over to the curious-looking Kelpie, whose expression radiated both disbelief and fear at whatever caught his eye.

“Help, why does he look like this,” the on-screen text asked, with the caption adding, “Is something wrong with this dog?”

The canine cutie gave off total Scooby-Doo vibes with his hilariously startled expression, as his face froze in a look of sheer panic. The fur baby’s wide-eyed, jaw-dropped look hinted that he just saw something very spooky.

Followers picked up on the similarities between the Kelpie and the iconic cartoon character, and noted some additional observations:
