‘S’mores-Colored’ Bernedoodle Has the Sweetest Graham Cracker Paws
I'm both terrified of and in love with Doodles. I think they're awesome dogs, but I'm also of the belief that they might be humans in dog suits. There's just something about them that makes them look so... Sentient.
When there's a cute enough pup, though, I can get past my heebie jeebies. For example, this adorable Bernedoodle! He looks like a little s'more with legs, and his cute graham cracker paws just seal the deal:

♬ original sound - Bernedoodle Puppy For AdoptionAnderson Jones has some of the cutest puppies ever! I don't think a Bernedoodle is the right fit for my lifestyle, but I love to admire them, and especially that one. You can really see both breeds in her! She has a few defining features:
- Her curly coat, which is the Poodle part.
- Black, white, and tan splotches in her fur; those graham cracker paws are 100% Berner.
- A round head and "teddy bear" eyes, which are typical of any Doodle.
The hashtags claim she's specifically a Mink-Coated Micro Bernedoodle. That just means she's a cross between a toy Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog, and her coat is more plush than a standard Bernedoodle. It's softer.

They seem to specialize in Mink-Coated Micro Bernedoodles. The most interesting thing about Mink Bernedoodles is that their fur sometimes takes on a very silvery-grey tone. Mixed with their other colors, these pups look almost purple:

How Many Kinds of Bernedoodles Are There?Bernedoodles are one of those breeds that you might not think would be super diverse, but they are. Most Doodles, regardless of their second parent breed, typically come in three distinct sizes. The Bernedoodle is no exception!
A Merle Bernedoodle sitting in the grass.Image via Shutterstock / Wirestock Creators
Bernedoodles are typically black, white, and tan, though they can be Merle as well, depending on what their parents have been crossed with. As for sizes, you'll usually find:
- Standard Bernedoodles: Bernese Mountain Dog x Standard Poodle.
- Mini Bernedoodle: Bernese Mountain Dog x Mini Poodle.
- Micro Bernedoodle: Bernese Mountain Dog x Toy Poodle.
A Micro Bernedoodle will be a little bigger than a toy Poodle, just because the Bernese Mountain Dog is so large. If you do decide you really want a Doodle of any kind, always make sure you do extensive research: this breed is so popular, and often comes from unethical breeders. Be careful!

Stunning Half-Orange Cat Looks Like a Halloween Dream
Halloween is still several months away, but if you're anything like me, you're preparing now. There are skeletons in my front yard as we speak, and I'm already trying to find my Halloween decorations so that I'm ready when the time comes. I can't wait!
One cat has me beat, though: she is ready for Halloween at all times. She's half orange, half black, and 100% Frankenstein vibes! You simply have to see her to believe it:
@thejacketcat ♬ original sound - MyuuThe Jacket Cat is so cool. Her name is Kitty, and she's gone viral a few times before because of the amazing way her coat looks. Though we don't know exactly how old she is, she's full-grown, and she's been in her forever home with her mom and her grey cat brother since she was a baby.
A lot of people have different ideas about why she might be like this: some people claim she's a Chimera, which is impossible to prove without genetic testing, and she doesn't have the right markings for that. Others think she's half Tuxedo, while some people also think someone just glued two cats together.
Related: Ragdoll Cat With Rare ‘Split Splatter’ Coloring Looks Like a Shining Star
Her colors have definitely deepened over time, but she's had the same split since she was a baby. She was so tiny that it genuinely looked like someone had dipped her in Cheeto dust or something:
@thejacketcatRisposta a @erin
♬ my love mine all mine sped up - ✰She was so little! My favorite part is that she still has those little white paws. She could not get cuter if she tried, especially with all of her spooky vibes!
Why Does Kitty Look Like That?Kitty's coat is not typical at all. Most of the time, cats don't have such defined color blocks: it's usually more like specks, flecks, or spots. Not her, though. Her blocks are huge, and she's stunning.
An orange cat lying down.Image via Shutterstock / Maliflower73
Kitty is a Calico cat: she has defined patches of white, orange, and black. It's as simple as that. The way her coat ended up looking is purely random, though a few people speculate that she might be mixed with a Tuxedo. That would explain the defined blocking, especially on her legs and chest.
Whatever the case may be, Kitty is awesome! She's happy, healthy, well-loved, and perpetually ready for Halloween. What more could you ask for?!

Adorable Labrador Does 'Extreme Wiggle Butts' for Peanut Butter—We're All Jealous of His Joyful Vibe
Drake the black Labrador is living his absolute best life! He experiences more excitement and pure joy in three seconds of anticipating peanut butter than most humans feel all month.
The TikTok posted on @drake_theblacklab captures exactly what happens when his human pulls out that magical peanut butter jar. Drake doesn't just get whipped up with excitement. He literally vibrates. His entire back half of his body transforms into a non-stop wiggle machine operating at maximum capacity.
The caption reads: "EXTREME wiggle butts for the peanut butter 🙌🏻"
@drake_theblacklabEXTREME wiggle butts for the peanut butter 🙌🏻 #dog #dogsoftiktok #labrador #funnyvideos #funnydog
♬ Break My Stride - 80s Super HitsExtreme is not an exaggeration for effect. In fact, Drake's butt wiggles so hard it seems as if it could detach from his body. His tail becomes a canine propeller. His paws do a little tap dance. His whole body vibrates anticipation and joy at a frequency visible from space.
The text overlay hits completely different though: "The fact that I have to take an SSRI just to get out of bed and this is my dog because I pulled out a jar of peanut butter."
Ouch. But also, 100% relatable to many.
The comments captured the bittersweet humor perfectly:
"Maybe life is just a matter of finding our own jars of peanut butter. 😂"
"This is how I feel about Taco Bell."
"That jar of peanut butter is his Lexapro."
"Dogs are very emotionally intelligent. Bro's probably like 'LOOK WHO'S OUTTA BED TODAYYY WITH THE PEANUT BUTTTERRRR!!!!!'"
"BPRI (peanut butter reuptake inhibitor)."
"It's because he's never had to hop on a Teams call at 6 am."
"He is your peanut butter."
That last one. That's the whole point, isn't it? Drake has peanut butter. His human has Drake. Both are sources of absolute joy in completely different ways.
Why Dogs Lose Their Minds Over Peanut ButterHere's what's actually happening in Drake's canine brain when that jar of peanut butter appears: millions of years of evolution meeting modern deliciousness. Hello? Who doesn’t go a little cuckoo for peanut butter?
According to research highlighted in The Scientist, dogs' peanut butter obsession comes from multiple different sources—biological, behavioral, and learned.
The protein pull: Kate Shoveller, a nutritional physiologist at the University of Guelph who studies canine nutrition, explains that dogs have strong evolutionary reasons to seek protein. "Like most mammals, dogs will select for things that are selectively higher in protein, and peanuts fall in that category," she said.
Unlike carbohydrates and fat, dogs have no protein reserve in their bodies. When they find a protein-rich food source, their instinct says "eat this immediately." Peanuts deliver exactly what their bodies craves.

The sweet tooth factor: Unlike many ancestral carnivores who lost their sweet taste receptors, dogs kept theirs. So when peanut butter contains added sugar—which most brands do—dogs aren't just responding to protein. They're getting a triple hit of goodies: protein, fat, and sugar.
The training connection: Dogs may also instinctually associate peanut butter with positive experiences. Since it's often used as ingredients in treats and training rewards, they've learned early that peanut butter means good things are happening.
Shoveller suggests that dogs have co-evolved with humans when it comes to peanut butter. As long as humans have eaten peanuts, it;s likey that dogs' ancestors did too. When humans created peanut butter, dogs developed that taste preference and craving alongside us.
"It might be smell. It might be taste. It might be physiological feedback which is positive," Shoveller said. "But what all dog owners know to be true is that every good dog deserves a tasty peanut butter treat."
Drake's extreme wiggle butts? That's biology, evolution, and learned behavior colliding into one perfect storm of pure canine joy.
We should all be so lucky to find something in life that makes us wiggle like that.
'Unique'-Looking Chihuahua Mix Has the Internet Guessing His Heritage
Popular hybrid dogs include the Goldendoodle, Labradoodle, Puggle, and Maltipoo. Some crossbreeds are more rare and produce a physically intriguing combination. While one genetic line can be definitive, the other parental heritage is tougher to pin down.
This Chihuahua mix has some people shaking their heads as to what his other breed is, with many posting some solid suggestions.

"My brother brought his new 'Chihuahua' puppy over — Am I crazy or does he look a little special?" the onscreen text asked.
The camera cut to the small cinnamon-colored dog, who definitely resembled a Chihuahua, yet there were clearly other genetics at play.
"I’m not saying he’s not cute," the caption added. "I’m just saying that’s a real unique Chihuahua if I’ve ever seen one."
The precious pooch's face was larger than a typical Chi's and had wider-set eyes. The dog boasted a bulkier, more muscular build than the traditional small dog breed, giving hints of a Terrier line. Followers flocked to post their opinions on the canine cutie's potential gene pool.
"He looks like a Pitbull Chihuahua — he’s a total cutie," one remarked.
"Does he have some Jack Russell mixed in?" another suggested.
"I have one that looks like him. I think he’s a Chug (Chihuahua Pug)," a follower shared.
"He kinda looks like my dog and he’s a Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher mix," someone commented.
"That's a Staffhuahua," a fan noted.
Popular Chihuahua MixesChihuahuas are a top pick for many pet parents due to their small size, affectionate disposition, and relatively easy maintenance. These tiny fur babies are often crossbred with other breeds similar in nature.
Some popular breeds that are mixed with a Chihuahua include a Pug (Chug), Dachshund (Chiweenie), Pomeranian (Pomchi), Poodle (Chipoo), Rat Terrier (Ratchi), Shih-Tzu (Chichi), Yorkie (Chorkie), Maltese (Malchi), and Beagle (Cheagle).

Maine Has the Worst Tick Problem for Dogs in the U.S.
Ticks are one of those hidden risks most dog owners don’t think much about until they suddenly become a problem. From backyard grass to hiking trails, these tiny parasites can latch on quickly, often going unnoticed until after exposure.
What many pet parents don’t realize is that tick risk isn’t the same everywhere. Weather, wildlife populations, and seasonal conditions can all play a major role in how common ticks are—and how often dogs come into contact with them during everyday outdoor activities. Nevertheless, ticks are a problem for both humans and dogs and therefore pups can contract tick-borne illnesses. "Ticks are among the most efficient carriers of disease because they attach firmly when sucking blood, feed slowly, and may go unnoticed for a considerable time while feeding," reports the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Recently, pet health tracking service Maven Pet evaluated Internet searches for on tick bites, removal and treatment. Certain states were head and shoulders above the rest, especially one. Here's the number one worst state for tick problems for dogs, plus the rest of the top five. Scroll on to see if you live there and also learn more about tick safety so you can refresh your memory before all of your summer adventures with your furry family member.

Why Tick Risk Varies by State A close up of a tick with a dog in the background.Getty Images Andreas Häuslbetz
Tick risk isn’t the same across the country because ticks depend heavily on climate, vegetation, and wildlife to survive. States with warmer temperatures, higher humidity, and longer growing seasons tend to support larger tick populations because those conditions allow ticks to remain active for more of the year.
Landscape also plays a big role. Areas with dense woods, tall grasses, and abundant deer or small mammals provide ideal environments for ticks to feed and reproduce. In contrast, drier or colder regions often have shorter tick seasons and fewer suitable habitats, which lowers overall risk.
Because of these differences, some states naturally see far more tick activity affecting dogs than others, especially during peak outdoor seasons.
When Tick Season Peaks for DogsTick season typically peaks in the warmer months, especially from spring through early fall, when temperatures and humidity create ideal conditions for ticks to become active. In many parts of the U.S., activity starts increasing in early spring as the weather warms and continues through summer, when ticks are most abundant.
During these peak months, dogs are at higher risk of exposure because ticks are more active in grassy, wooded, and brush-heavy areas where pets commonly walk or play. In some warmer states, tick activity can last nearly year-round, but spring and summer remain the highest-risk periods overall.
What’s the Worst Tick-Infested State for Dogs? What state has the worst tick problem for dogs? Maven Pet ranked Maine as the state with the worst tick problem for dogs based on data.
According to the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services, 13 different tick species live in the "Pine Tree State." Not all of these ticks will bite, but some, like the deer tick, American dog tick and woodchuck tick, will. These bites can pose risks to dogs, which is why it's good to know if the state you live in is a hotspot for ticks or not.
Texas A&M shares that ticks can carry diseases that can affect your dog's health, such as:
- Babesiosis is a red blood cell infection that deer ticks (and other species) can have.
- Ehrlichiosis, an infection that can cause flu-like symptoms and death
- Rocky Mountain spotted fever, an infection that can cause fever and lower appetite
- Lyme disease, an infection that can trigger joint pain, low to no energy and fever (dogs can get vaccinated for Lyme disease)
According to Maven Pet, four of the five most tick-infested states for dogs are located in the Northeast. Maine has the worst tick problem for dogs, according to Maven Pet's data. The top five tick-infested states for dogs are:
- Maine
- Vermont
- New Hampshire
- Michigan
- Connecticut
If you live in one of these states or plan to travel to one with your dog, you'll want to take steps to keep your pup safe. But one vet shares that everyone could use an annual refresh on tick safety and dogs.
How to Tell If Your Dog Has Ticks? A dog owner checking their dog for ticks.Ticks are small, but you don't need a microscope to spot one on your pet. "Ticks are visible to the naked eye, even when they’re not engorged," explains Dr. Chyrle Bonk, DVM, an Embrace Pet Insurance veterinarian contributor. "They’re black-brown insects about the size of an apple seed. Engorged ticks are those that are attached to your dog’s skin and filled with blood. Most become whitish and can be as large as the end of your finger."
Dr. Bonk shares that frequent grooming is the best way to check for ticks. "After being outside, run a brush or fine-toothed comb over your dog’s body to help remove debris and prevent mats," Dr. Bonk advises. "Also, be on the lookout for small black-brown insects that often hide in the groin, armpits, ears and under your dog’s collar."

What to Do if You Find a Tick on Your DogEarly removal is crucial if you find a tick on your dog’s coat. "Ticks can transmit diseases to your dog, most of which require them to stay attached for a length of time, so early removal is key to preventing disease transmission," Dr. Bonk says.
Whether you do the job yourself or call a vet is highly personal. "If you’re comfortable with it, you may remove a tick at home," Dr. Bonk says. "If you’re unsure, consult your veterinarian. If your dog has multiple ticks, consider speaking to a vet first."
How to Remove a Tick From Your Dog SafelyTo remove a tick from your dog, you'll need a few tools, plus patience, precision and know-how. Whether you live in Maine, the state with the worst tick problem for dogs, or somewhere else, Dr. Bonk's tick removal tips can be life-changing for your pet.
- Get the best view. Dr. Bonk instructs dog parents to begin by parting your dog's fur so you can get a "good look at the tick."
- Grab your tools and use them right. Use a pair of tweezers or a specific tick removal tool. "Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible," Dr. Bonk says.
- Go easy and deliberately. "Gently pull straight out without twisting the body," Dr. Bonk says.
- Get rid of the tick correctly. Dr. Bonk recommends disposing of the tick in alcohol.
- Clean the bite area. Use warm water and mild soap, Dr. Bonk advises.
- Keep an eye on your pet and call for help if needed. "See a veterinarian if the area is overly red, swollen or has a rash," Dr. Bonk states.

Tips to Keep Your Dog Safe from Ticks This SummerPrevention is the best strategy for eliminating the risk of tick-borne illness in your dog. To keep your dog safe from ticks, Dr. Bonk recommends:
- Use a flea and tick preventative. There are many on the market that are safe and effective. "They come in the form of an oral chewable, topical or collar," Dr. Bonk says. Your vet can help you choose.
- Avoid ticks' favorite hiding spots. Dr. Bonk says these spots include long grasses, woody shaded areas and thick shrubbery where ticks. A playdate in a well-manicured park will help your dog get their energy out, with fewer risks for ticks.
- Groom your dog after being outside. That way, you can remove ticks before they attach.
- Check yourself as well. Ticks can't jump like fleas, but they can pass from human to pet if you're snuggling really close. So, check yourself for ticks, as well. It'll keep you safe and is a way to show love to your pet.

This Ragdoll Cat’s Bizarre Sleeping Position Looks Uncomfortable—but Experts Say It’s Normal
If you're a cat parent, you know they like to sleep and spend much of their day taking short cat naps to have enough energy for all their zoomies. You also know that when you walk past your sleeping cat, you never know what position they'll be in, but it's often weird and doesn't look comfortable in any sense of the word.
In this video, we meet a Ragdoll cat who has a very bizarre sleeping position that 100% looks anything but comfortable. But according to experts, this awkward nap position is a sign of a relaxed, perfectly contented kitty. Take a look!

He's taking one of the many naps of the day, and it really looks like it's a good one. He's in the sun that's coming through the window, but if you didn't see his eyes closed, the position he's sleeping in doesn't look like he could possibly be catching any rest. His chin is straight up in the air, mouth slightly open, but he's in the sleep zone, and it's so charming.

Another shared, "What bills is he paying to be THAT exhausted?"
Someone else added, "Oh, to be a spoiled rotten ham of a cat. Freaking hilarious!"
Other comments included, "Ma’am, your floof is out of service," "My post-gym nap," "I have three cats, and they act like they work 12-hour shifts," "That... is an amazing sleeping position," and "Honestly, what a mood."

Why Cats Sleep in Strange Positions and When Experts Say It’s Completely NormalZiti and his brother, Panini, are really cute when they sleep, especially when caught in a weird position, as this video shows. Cats are known for having strange sleep positions, and for the most part, they're totally normal, experts say, and it might actually be a good sign.
Purina UK explains that there are several sleep positions your kitty may take a nap in, and even those vary from cat to cat. One of the 10 positions Purina UK describes is called "the acrobat," and that's probably the one that would fit the way this silly Ragdoll was taking a nap. The acrobat is described as a cat who sleeps in weird twists or "contorted positions" that look odd at a glance.
But they explain that a cat asleep in a strange position is likely in a very deep sleep, and it signals an animal who is "playful or confident," completely at ease and protected, since they're not at all worried about anything potentially harming them.
So, if your cat is snoozing just like Ziti does or his brother Panini, it's completely normal, and your cat is one happy feline.
Coming Home to 2 Dachshunds Was the Best Part of Vacation
Dachshunds are tiny, dramatic, and about one missed cuddle away from filing an emotional complaint. They are built like low-clearance sausages and somehow still carry the energy of Victorian widows waiting by the window for a loved one to return from sea. So when a person comes home from vacation to not one but two Dachshunds, you already know the reaction is going to be huge, loud, and just a little unreasonable in the best possible way.
This video proves it immediately.
@christinakirkmanThe little sounds they make 🥹😭💖 @WINSTON_DA_WEEN #dachshund #dogs
♬ Little Things - Adrián BerenguerMom is still outside walking up to the door, and you can already hear the little Weens from inside. That alone is enough to make any dog person’s heart fold in on itself. Before she's even fully back, before the key moment, before the camera gets inside, those little voices are already announcing that something major is happening.
Then she gets through the door.
And that's when the whining and wiggling really begin.
Not polite excitement. Not a casual tail wag. Full-body, emotional collapse. The kind of greeting that makes you feel like you have just returned from war instead of, say, a normal vacation with luggage and overpriced snacks. Their whole energy says the same thing: Where have you been? Why did you leave? And also, thank God you're back because we were seconds from losing our minds permanently.
View this post on InstagramThis clip taps straight into the thing dog lovers know but maybe can't always explain to other people. Coming home to this kind of unfiltered joy is one of the best feelings on earth. No one in your house is pretending to be cool. No one is acting like they forgot you were gone. These two Dachshunds are giving pure, immediate, deeply sincere hysteria.
One comment says, “Only dog lovers know THIS is the best part of any trip 🥰🐾,” and yes, exactly. You can have the views, the food, the hotel, the memories, all of it. But there is something about being greeted by your dogs like you are the single greatest event of their week that hits harder than all of that.
That is the real luxury.
Not the trip.
The return.
And Dachshunds in particular are so good at this because they don't believe in subtlety. If they missed you, you will know. If they love you, the neighborhood will know. If they think your reappearance deserves screams, wiggles, and total emotional disintegration, then that is exactly what you're getting.
Which, frankly, is as it should be.
View this post on Instagram Why Dogs Get So Excited When You Come HomeDogs often react so strongly to reunions because they form powerful social bonds and become deeply attached to their people’s routines, scents, sounds, and daily presence. 4 Fun Facts About SlothsSloths Were Once the Size of ElephantsSloths today are much smaller than their ancient relatives. At one point, over 80 species existed, including giant ground sloths, which could reach over 19 feet tall. Some sloths even had armored skin and are believed to have been hunted to extinction by early humans.
Sloths Are Surprisingly StrongDespite their lethargic reputation, sloths are actually three times stronger than humans relative to their size. They can lift their entire body weight with just one arm and their specialized grip allows them to hang from trees for hours at a time without breaking a sweat.
Sloths Are Faster in Water Than on LandSurprisingly enough, sloths are much better swimmers than they are walkers. They can swim through water three times faster than they can move on the ground, and their long necks help them rotate their heads in a way that makes it easier to keep their noses above the water.
Sloths Take 30 Days to Digest a LeafSloths happen to have one of the slowest metabolisms in the animal kingdom, which means digestion takes a long time. They also have an incredibly large and permanently full four-chambered stomach, which can account for up to a third of their body weight. In two-fingered sloths, this over-sized stomach is supported by 46 ribs (23 pairs) which is more than any other mammal.

People in the Comments Quickly Became Just as Obsessed With the Wholesome Neighbor Friendship as Wednesday Clearly Is:• “I would trust that man with everything just by her reaction to him.”
• “I have a crush on your neighbor, too!”
• “Well, damn, now I have a crush on your neighbor.”
• “You can’t be posting a sweet, bearded man and not expect to cause a commotion.”

Are Dogs Good Judges of Character? @yngjefe_95I think it is a deal breaker if your dog doesnt like your significant other 😂 #jeffmorrow4 #viral #fyp
♬ original sound - JefeMany dog parents believe their pets are excellent judges of character because dogs are incredibly observant of human body language, tone of voice, energy, and behavioral patterns. Research suggests dogs can often recognize emotional cues and may respond differently to people based on previous experiences and social signals.
While dogs are not magical lie detectors, they do tend to form strong bonds with people who make them feel safe, calm, and loved.
And judging by Wednesday’s reaction, this neighbor appears to have been fully accepted into her inner emotional circle.

Retired Barn Cat Meets a Taxidermy Bobcat—Then Things Get Weird
Barn cats live their lives with a specific set of rules that don't necessarily apply anywhere else. Bringing one of these somewhat feral felines inside the house may come with a few challenges as they adjust to everyday "civilian" life, where things aren't as primal.
This is what a newly retired barn cat named Cookie is trying to do, but there's a catch. While she can't stand the resident Sphynx kitty who begs for Cookie's acceptance, she found a friend in, of all things, a taxidermy bobcat. This is about to get very, very weird!
@brenbates4 ♬ Tchaikovsky "Dance of the Reed Flutes"(1257471) - kzyThe funny moment that @brenbates4 caught on camera shows Cookie falling head over heels for the mysterious new guy! He doesn't have to try very hard to get her attention because her barn cat instincts are going off. I'd say this is the start of a beautiful new romance!
Related: Barnyard Kitten's Sweet Friendship With Fluffy Cow Is Straight out of a Storybook
You'd think that Cookie hasn't been inside long enough to adapt to all the exciting, random objects in the house, but as far back as January 2025, the inquisitive Tabby cat has had a taste of what domestic life is like.
I guess all that time spent securing the perimeter is still a big part of her. You can take the cat out of the barn, but not the barn out of the cat!
@brenbates4 ♬ My Love Mine All Mine - Mitski Why Cats Become Fascinated With Unusual ObjectsWe can chalk up Cookie's admiration of the taxidermy cat to her predatory instincts, but many kitties become fascinated with random things. Along with the typical kitty curiosity and her ongoing need for environmental stimulation, like she had while patrolling the property as a barn cat, if something has a certain sound, texture, or scent, it triggers her need to hunt, chase, pounce, and kill.
The sensory stimulation alone is enough for a cat to explore new, interesting objects, and they're notorious for testing cause and effect (e.g., pushing things off a counter). Whether it's because they're bored, to keep their surroundings safe from predators, or because they're a little weird, cats like Cookie couldn't pass up something like a taxidermy bobcat.
I'd be willing to guess Mr. Bobcat's particular brand of smell reminds Cookie of being outdoors. So, when she stumbles onto a quiet, handsome, excellent listener who loves to cuddle without complaint, she's going to make her move! Give them some privacy, please!

People Assume This Pittie’s Muzzle Means He’s Aggressive, but the Truth Is Much Sweeter
There’s something about seeing a dog in a muzzle that immediately makes people start building dramatic backstories in their heads. Meanwhile, sometimes the actual explanation is simply, “This idiot keeps trying to eat landscaping.”
A sweet Pit Bull named Salem is currently going viral after his family revealed the hilariously wholesome reason behind his new muzzle.
@thatdogsalemyayyyy salems new muzzle is here!!! #dogsoftiktok #servicedog #muzzleddog #muzzletraining #gooddog
♬ original sound - Nicola & Scott 💗👀The video was shared on TikTok by @thatdogsalem, and the clip shows Salem calmly sitting while wearing his new muzzle.
And honestly? He looks extremely polite about the entire situation.
The funniest part comes after viewers notice the wording printed directly on the muzzle itself:
“I’m friendly! I eat rocks.”
Which immediately explained absolutely everything.
People in the Comments Lost It Over the Chaotic Little Confession• “There’s probably an expensive vet bill behind that story.”
• “Is good boy, just a little weird.”
• “I love how it clarifies he’s a sweetheart but just a weirdo.”
• “The way I would be cracking up if I saw this in public.”
• “Wow. Talk about no privacy, you guys just have to tell everyone his business.”
Salem’s dog mom later confirmed there was indeed a reason for the extra precautions.
“One chipped tooth!” she replied.
Honestly, the muzzle somehow makes Salem even more lovable because you can immediately tell this isn't a dangerous dog situation. This is a “sweet giant baby with absolutely no survival instincts” situation.
Other commenters also appreciated the reminder that muzzles aren't automatically a sign of aggression.
• “Not gonna lie, whenever I see a muzzled dog in public, I always assume it's for the dog's safety, not my safety, LMAO.”
• “Love the add-on. We need to work on understanding that muzzles have a variety of reasons.”
And honestly, that conversation might be one of the best things to come out of the video.
Reasons Why a Dog May Wear a Muzzle Border Collie in a muzzle.Image via Shutterstock/Reshetnikov_art
Dogs may wear muzzles for many reasons that have nothing to do with aggression. In fact, properly trained muzzle use can often help keep dogs safer and less stressed in certain situations.
Some Common Reasons Include:• Preventing dogs from eating dangerous objects
• Veterinary visits or medical recovery
• Grooming appointments
• Anxiety in crowded environments
• Preventing scavenging on walks
• Training or behavioral support
• Safety during emergencies or injuries
Many trainers also emphasize that muzzle training should be introduced positively so that pups feel comfortable and confident while wearing them.
And in Salem’s case, it may simply be protecting one extremely sweet dog from his own deeply questionable snack choices.

Chocolate Lab Declares War on Dad’s Crocs—and His Guilty Face Says Everything
Oh, Jackie. Even though your name is perfection, your defense needs work.
A handsome Chocolate Lab named Jackie is suspect numero uno in the case of his dad's chewed-up Croc (and the disappearance of the other), and he clearly knows it. As Jackie's human questions him about the evidence, the guilty-looking pup feigns sleep and refuses to make eye contact as if the entire situation will go away if he can’t see it. It's an ineffective strategy, but a hilarious one at that.
@seb_aubreySomeone had a fight with my crocks😂🐶🤎 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #labrador
♬ original sound - seb_aubreyMy favorite part is how Jackie can't resist sneaking a peek here and there while maintaining his innocence throughout the inquisition. It seems that viewers are obsessed with Jackie's reaction as well.
"Jackie is not available right now," explains one of his advocates.
"Jackie isn’t speaking until the attorney arrives," adds another.
"Pretty sure he’s invisible when his eyes are closed," jokes a third.
While the verdict might not go as Jackie hopes, the jury is certainly unanimous in its support for this dog.
Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Sees First Sunrise and Realizes How Big the World Is
Do Dogs Actually Feel Guilty?Despite Jackie's dramatic, sheepish reaction, is he actually experiencing guilt? Maybe not, according to an article in the Scientific American. Despite how convincing those expressions can look, experts say dogs may not actually experience guilt the same way humans do. Research suggests the classic guilty face—avoiding eye contact, lowering the head, pinning ears back, or looking nervous—is more likely a response to their human’s tone or body language than true remorse. In other words, dogs are often reacting to the fact that they know you’re upset, not necessarily because they understand they committed a crime against your Crocs.
Experts also say that “dog shaming” may do more harm than good. What people interpret as a guilty expression is often more likely to be anxiety, stress, or fear in response to its human being upset. In many cases, dogs don’t actually understand why they’re being scolded—especially if the reaction comes long after the incident happened.
Behavior issues like destructive chewing or accidents in the house can also sometimes point to boredom, stress, anxiety, or even an underlying medical issue rather than intentional “bad” behavior. Because of that, many experts recommend focusing more on training, redirection, and positive reinforcement instead of punishment after the fact.
At the end of the day, most dogs simply want to keep their humans happy. And while Jackie’s dramatic face may look undeniably guilty, chances are he’s reacting more to Dad’s disappointment than feeling true remorse.

Bulldog Realizes Mom Is Talking to the Vet — and Her Dramatic Reaction Is Too Funny
Both of my dogs dread going to the vet. The second they catch sight of the parking lot, they get nervous. My Dachshund starts shaking, and my Pug mix refuses to go inside by planting his ample tush on the ground. Needless to say, I'm glad we usually only go for their yearly appointment.
Pancake the Bulldog seems to have the same aversion to anything veterinary-related. She heard her mom on the phone with the office and the look on her face spoke volumes.
@thebabypancakePancake said “reschedule without me” #englishbulldog #funnydog #cutedog #dogsoftiktok
♬ Awkward Moments - AstroMusicIn the TikTok from @thebabypancake, the Bulldog beauty's mom had the vet's office on speaker phone. The conversation seemed to involve collecting some sort of sample from Pancake. The curious canine was on the couch listening to the dialogue, where she slowly pieced together who was on the other end of the phone.
"The moment Pancake realized we were calling the vet," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "Pancake said, 'Reschedule without me'."
No words from Pancake were needed. Her expression clearly showed fear mixed with revulsion, putting her distaste for the vet on full display. The fur baby finally couldn't listen any longer and jumped off the couch in protest.
Followers got a kick out of Pancake's reaction and felt she was justified in her response.
"Waffles the Bulldog just posted, 'Go hype up the post for love and support with Pancake'," one joked.
"How do they know something is up, but they sure do! Crazy. Oh no Pancake!" another commented.
"Pancake said, 'I gotta dip, goodbye now'," a follower posted.
"She said, 'Immediately no',” someone shared.
Why Dogs Don't Like the VetMany dogs experience anxiety during a vet visit. Their nervousness can begin on the ride over, almost like they sense where they're headed.
Past traumatic experiences can cause this fear. If your dog had to endure a previous painful or invasive procedure at a vet's office, returning to that location can bring it all back.
Related: Bulldog's Puppies Invade Her 'Me' Time and We Can Relate
Being around other nervous dogs in the waiting room can also raise your pooch's anxiety. Add to that the sights and smells of a doctor's office that may be foreign to your dog or recall negative memories, and it's easy to understand why they get scared.
Some ways to help your dog relax include calm reassurance, positive reinforcement through treats, and booking appointments during quiet, less busy times with your vet.
Pancake's reaction was very common and completely understandable. Hopefully her mom was able to smooth things over after the call.

One-of-a-Kind Purple Hummingbird Is an Actual Glitch in the Matrix
Hummingbirds are out in full force, now, and there are so many different kinds to try and spot. Some will be cooler than others, but some will also be much easier than others. I'd be grateful to have any hummingbird sightings at all!
This Hummingbird caught everyone by surprise. When he showed up at the feeder, he looked like he was purple, only for him to reveal the coolest built-in little trick:
@flockaroundfindoutActually, this is a total glitch in the matrix! My hummingbird is pulling a “chameleon” move because of this purple feeder. Because their feathers are so reflective (iridescent!), they can actually pick up and "bounce" the color of nearby objects. #HummingbirdTok #BirdWatching #NatureGlitch #PurpleFeeder #BackyardScience
♬ Broken Window Serenade - Isaiah SheffieldFlock Around and Find Out is no stranger to Hummingbirds in her yard. She has a few different feeders, and lots of flowers that might help attract them, too. While they love seeing all of the birds, this one is the best!
When he gets to the feeder, he legitimately looks like he's almost entirely purple. That's not what's going on, though: he's basically turned into a little Chameleon. His feathers are so iridescent and shiny that they're reflecting the color of the Hummingbird feeder.
Related: Rare Hot Pink Hummingbird Is Pure Fairy-Tale Magic
This Hummingbird feeder is a true hit with all of the neighborhood birds, and not just the cool "purple" ones. She has a camera pointed at it at all times, so she can see all of the awesome birds who come and go:
@flockaroundfindoutThe Ruby-throated hummingbird’s signature hum comes from its wings beating at an incredible 50 to 80 times per second. And that squeaky chirp you hear—often described as a "chee-dit"—is usually used while they are chasing each other or defending a feeder. I’ve seen another bird flying around so it looks like we have some competition. #birdsoftiktok #hummingbird #birdwatching #birdnerd #HummingbirdTok
♬ original sound - FlockAroundandFindOutThis one actually features the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, which has a slightly less-reflective ruby-red throat. What is it with Hummingbirds and being such incredible colors?!
Hummingbird Feathers Are ShinyThis Hummingbird appearing to be purple is purely a result of his super shiny feathers! You can see in the video that as he gets farther away from the feeder, his gorget turns darker, almost black.
A Hummingbird with a purple throat.Image via Shutterstock / Element allqulity Designe
There is a special, pancake-like prismatic structure in all Hummingbird feathers that makes them shimmery and iridescent like this, though males are often more vibrant. Having shiny feathers helps them when it comes to mating, and they often flash their colors when defending their territories, too.
If you put out feeders of all different colors, you could actually watch their colors change as they went down the line. How cool is that?!

This Boykin Spaniel Teaches Baby Asher to Roll Over in Adorable Viral Video
Sibling bonds run deep, even when those siblings are of the human and dog variety. A clever Boykin Spaniel is taking the internet by storm thanks to a recently posted viral video that shows the precocious dog trying to help his human baby brother tackle a major developmental milestone — rolling over. The dog’s skills are impressive, showcasing this breed’s intelligence and ability to emulate human behavior.

Parents of young babies know that tummy time can be stress-inducing as babies take on the necessary challenges needed to strengthen their necks and eventually roll over, a major milestone in every baby’s life.
That’s where the family dog, a gorgeous Boykin Spaniel, locks in and goes into full older sibling mode. Watching and encouraging his human baby brother isn’t enough for this dog. Instead, the precious pup shows off his rolling-over skills in an attempt to teach baby Asher how to do the same.

In this case, the dog does more than mimic behavior — he’s trying to teach his baby brother what to do. Asher may not be ready to roll over just yet, but his remarkable teacher is making growing up much more fun.
Nearly 75,000 viewers have liked the video on social media, and more than 15,000 have shared it. Comments range from followers calling the moment “the cutest thing ever” to others sharing what they imagine the baby or dog might be thinking.
Spaniels may have a reputation for being “Velcro dogs” who never want to leave their humans’ side, but they’re also loving companions known for understanding human emotions, intent, and even helping babies practice their newest skills.

Rescue Staffy Gets Worried When Her Humans Go in the Pool—And It’s So Sweet
Pool season is almost here. It's only in the 60s where I am, so I wouldn't even dream of getting in a pool right now, but the time is coming! For some, it's already here, and they're living their best lives.
For one family, living their best lives apparently means driving their sweet Staffy crazy. They love getting in the pool, but every time they do, she loses her marbles. In a past life, I'm pretty sure she was a lifeguard:

That's just not the case. She's as sweet as can be, and she loves everyone. The only time she even really raises her voice is when she hears her favorite humans getting in the pool! She doesn't like it, okay? She just wants everyone to be safe!

Staffies Are Natural ProtectorsStaffordshire Terriers are some of the most underrated, overhated dogs in the world. It's unfortunately common for breeds like these: people see pups with big, blocky heads and huge mouths and assume the worst.

Staffordshire Terriers are strong-willed, independent dogs. However, they also love their people: if you want one, you need to be prepared for some antics! These dogs often:
- Whine.
- Yell.
- Cry.
- Sit on you.
- Firmly tell you what to do.
They don't know personal space in any way, and if someone comes at you too fast... Good luck! They'll do anything they have to in order to protect the people they love!

Bull Terrier Missed His ‘Blankie’ So Much, He Climbed in the Dryer to Snuggle It
It's not uncommon for dogs to have a favorite thing. What they choose is going to depend on lots of factors; one rescue dog, for example, chose a bucket because it was the only toy he's ever had. However, for a lot of dogs, it's either a blanket or a toy.
One Bull Terrier definitely chose a blanket. It's his favorite thing in the entire world, but unfortunately, it needs to be clean. His mom ran it through the washer and dryer... But he was not having it, and ended up deciding that desperate times call for desperate measures:
@kabukis.worldThe nose tuck got me🥰
♬ Heart and Soul - Theme from "Big" - SimplyloveKabuki's World apparently revolves entirely around that blanket, as it should. This looks like it was an entire load of his things in the washer, since there's a toy in there as well! After the dryer had run, he hopped right in to snuggle his best blankie friend!
It was nice and warm, which only made it more enticing. He jumped right in and tucked his nose in, completely unaware that what he was doing was absolutely wild. All he cared about was getting his blanket back.
Related: Sweet Bull Terrier With ‘Broken Heart Nose’ Has the Best Transformation
Kabuki needs his blanket to relax. Every day, he spends all day causing chaos and trying to make everything as crazy as possible. Luckily, with so many siblings, it's not hard at all:
@kabukis.world647 am and the #crazytrain has already left the station….
♬ sonido original - David LopezHe's either hopping in the dryer or running around outside. Those options seem so tiring, but I know their mom just adores all of her furry friends. Chaos and all!
Keeping Pets Safe In the Laundry RoomDryers are warm, and washers make lots of funny noises. These machines can be very enticing to lots of pets, not just dogs, but they can also be incredibly dangerous. Safety practices are vital.
A Golden Retriever by laundry machines.Image via Shutterstock / 135pixels
Ideally, you should put a gate up in your laundry room or keep the door shut to keep curious animals at bay. However, that's not always an option, and a willful pet will find a way! Before you shut and turn on the laundry machines, you should:
- Do a headcount and make sure everybody is accounted for.
- Bang your hands on the machines to hopefully make enough noise to rouse them if they're in the mix.
- Put clothes/blankets in one at a time so you can make sure no one is hiding in them.
It's better to be safe than sorry. Luckily, Kabuki is a little too big to go unnoticed, even when he's wrapped up in his blankie!

Cat Refuses to Make the Leap Until Dad Pulls Out His Secret Technique
Every cat parent knows the sound. We use it for almost anything cat-related: psst, psst, psst. It's the sound of encouragement, but also serves as a negotiation tactic with your feline friend. And sometimes, it is the full emotional support system for a nervous cat.
In a YouTube video from the channel Hope and Trunks, we see a man using this exact tactic to convince his hesitant cat, Trunks, to jump from a chair into his arms.

He holds out his arms patiently, gently encouraging his cat as he says, "Psst, psst!" And as he writes in the video's caption, sometimes, all cats need is a little psst, psst persuasion
Cats Do Not Always Trust Things They Cannot MeasureCats are extremely cautious, which is an instinct they inherited from their days in the wild. In the wild, cats are both predators and prey. They are naturally suspicious and carefully observe new environments, sounds and people. They need time before they can relax.
Unlike dogs, they calculate before they act. Dogs leap first and think later, while cats prefer to calculate the outcome before committing to movement.
From a cat's perspective, your arms are unpredictable. If you shift slightly, your balance will change, and while you smell familiar, you are not a stable countertop.
How to Teach Your Cat to Jump Into Your ArmsTraining a cat to jump to you is not just a party trick; it is an exercise in trust. Start with a high-value treat as a lure, and place your arm or lap just a few inches away from where your cat is sitting.
Be consistent with your verbal cue, whether it is a whistle, a click, or the classic "psst, psst" as in this case. When your cat makes the jump, reward them immediately.
Never force the movement. Cats are calculating creatures. They will calculate the risk in their head before trying to make the jump. They need to feel the stability of your arms before they commit to anything else.
As your cat gets comfortable, slowly increase the distance. Eventually, you can replace the treat lure with the emotional reward of a snuggle.
Building Your Cat's ConfidenceWe have to applaud the cat parent in the video and his patience. He never forces Trunks to do anything. He doesn't grab or rush. He lets the cat make her own mind up.
When building confidence, always start low to the ground. Sit on the floor or kneel nearby and encourage your cat to step or hop short distances first.
Timing also matters. Cats are more likely to participate during playful moments rather than when they are sleepy. Sometimes, all they need is encouragement for the same reason people do. They know they are capable of doing something. But a little more of psst, psst persuasion will take them higher.

Great Danes Lounging by the Pool Look Just Like Walruses
Great Danes will never cease to amaze me. For some reason, the universe decided we needed dogs the size of small horses, and the universe was absolutely right. Great Danes are excellent workers, but they're also amazing companions. They're the kind of dog that everyone admires, even if they're intimidating.
Just look at these Great Danes: they're huge, and they recently decided that they wanted to take over their mom's pool. When they did, they literally looked like a couple of walruses sitting by the sea:
@eurodanebrosHope the new neighbors like big dogs who love to lounge in the sun #dogsoftiktok #doglife #dogmomlife #cutedog #fy
♬ original sound - LeviThe Euro Dane Bros are so lucky. This house is not only right on the water: it also has a pool! These two sunbathing waruses... I mean, dogs... Have so much space to swim and work on their tan. They're amazing, and I bet their neighbors have a blast watching them!
I hope their mom is ready, though, because I bet the neighbors are going to be coming over and asking to meet them. Whenever I see a big dog like this, I know I can't help myself! I would love to have one, but I let my dogs sleep in bed with me, and I don't know if I could handle a horse in there.

The two pups are Asa and Tiny Tim, and they serve very different purposes in their home. While Tiny Tim is more of a lounger all the time, Asa is a protector. When joggers come by, he makes sure they know not to mess with his family... And that he has a really cool fish:
@eurodanebrosGood job Asa and fish 👏#dogsoftiktok #greatdane #dogtok #cuteanimals #petsoftiktok
♬ Clumsy Tunes - Eitan Epstein MusicThe fish is also a security guard. After all, there's safety in numbers! If Tiny Tim won't help, Asa's fish is going to step in!
Are Great Danes Good Swimmers? You might notice that Asa and Tiny Tim like to lounge around the water... But they never actually get in the water. They will on occasion, but they definitely prefer to lounge around out by the water instead. Same, boys!
Great Dane looking out at the ocean.Image via Shutterstock / SeaRick1
Great Danes definitely can swim, and some might even enjoy it. For the most part, though, they usually don't like it, and it doesn't come naturally to them, meaning they'll likely need lessons. Great Danes typically don't like swimming because:
- It's cold, which is uncomfortable and can exacerbate their aching joints.
- They're heavy, so it can be hard to stay above water.
- They're an awkward shape and have long legs, which can make it hard to kick.
You can give it a try, but don't be surprised if they prefer to go "walrus mode" by the side instead. It looks like a lot of fun!
