Polka-Dot Bunny Has the Most Dramatic Way of Saying 'I Love You'
There are a lot of ways pets show their love, but one little polka-dot bunny named Rocket may have topped them all. This sweet and sassy boy performs the most Oscar-worthy scene when he wants his mom to know he loves her. If you've never heard of a "love-faint," Rocket will show you exactly what it looks like:
@rocketthebunbun‘Mama THIS is how much I LOVE YOU’ #bunny #love #iloveyou #pet #rabbit
♬ original sound - Deo M. Divinagracia - RetroSibs 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭Rocket, the "Bun Bun," is cute as can be as he rushes up to say, "Mama, THIS is how much I love you," in the most dramatic, adorable way. The smitten bunny literally falls right over at Mom's feet as if he can't contain his emotions, bursting with joy for his one and only lady. Swoon!
Rocket isn't just one giant lovebug; he's well-known on the web to his more than 27k TikTok followers for his dog-like personality. Throughout the dozens and dozens of videos, you'll spot the polka-dot darling zooming around the house, circling Mom when he wants to play or say he loves her, or just being an all-around gentleman.

With so many great qualities, it seems there's nothing Rocket can't do, and his fans agree.
"The little leggie in the air," one fan commented. "Omg, my heart just melted," another shared. Another wondered if the real-life Velveteen bunny may have been asking for a belly rub, but Mom replied with this little tidbit:
"Oh, they hate their bellies being touched, especially this breed! It’s a flop! Used when they are either super relaxed or very bonded to someone."
This little guy truly is bonded with Mom. They even have a really cute ritual, equally as perfect as the love-faint. In the evenings, Rocket fetches her from the couch and leads her to the center of the living room so he can perform his love dance:
@rocketthebunbunBunny language is soooo cute #love #loveyou #bunny #cute #funny
♬ Cena Engraçada e Inusitada - HarmonicoHCO How Bunnies Say 'I Love You'Not all bunnies will act out a dramatic scene to show their love, but there are other obvious signs. Some might gently groom their humans through nibbling or licking, as if you're the best bunny friend ever.
Others like to be stroked on their head and will purr like a kitten or grind their teeth from the happiness it brings. Rabbits have scent glands under their chins, so if they rub their chin on your legs or the furniture, that's them claiming you as their favorite person.
They might even do a happy hop-twist called binkying, run around the house at your feet, or flop down in front of you the way Rocket does to make sure you understand how hard their hearts beat for you.
It's clear how Rocket feels about his people, but however bunnies say "I love you," they sure are cuties!

Rare Blue-Eyed Maltipoo Puppy Looks Almost Too Perfect To Be Real, and She Needs a Home
Sometimes puppies are so cute they almost look not real, and this extremely rare, blue-eyed Maltipoo puppy with her fluffy coat and tiny size definitely falls into that category.
Even when she's just sitting on a couch, she almost looks mythological with those stunning blue eyes and that pink-and-red nose.
Viewers can't get enough of this rare-looking, adorable puppy.

As you can imagine, the comments section was busting with people wanting to adopt this blue-eyed Maltipoo puppy who is currently located in Quebec, Canada.
According to the caption, she's a very sweet and affectionate little dog and would make the perfect canine companion!
This puppy and many other cute, small-breed puppies, such as Poodles, Cavapoos, Maltipoos, Cockapoos, are available for adoption through a company called Puppies of Montreal.

Are Blue Eyes Rare in Maltipoos? So the question is, how rare are blue eyes in Maltipoos?
Typically, Maltipoos, which are the offspring of a Maltese and a Poodle, have dark brown or amber eyes.
Now, many puppies are born with blue eyes, but by the time they are 10 weeks old, their eye color changes to a darker shade.
If a Maltipoo has blue eyes in adulthood, this means they have most likely inherited a gene that impacts their eye and coat pigmentation.
Blue eyes in dogs are often linked to the merle gene, but this isn't usually found naturally in the Maltese and Poodle breeds.
So if you have a Maltipoo with blue eyes, consider yourself and the dog special!
However, you may need to be on the lookout for certain health issues that can accompany this rare eye color.
Though there isn't a ton of research on the link between blue eyes and health issues, blue eyes can be associated with higher sensitivity to the sun as well as other eye conditions or even congenital deafness, due to the lack of pigmentation, according to Muffin's Halo.
The best thing you can do is just be vigilant about getting your blue-eyed pup's eyes checked out regularly by the veterinarian.

Kind Doodle ‘Fosters’ 7 Kittens—and They Couldn’t Love Him More
People who foster pets are some of my favorite people in the world. I don't do it because my dogs aren't very nice, but I wish I could. Fostering saves lives, and if you have the opportunity, you should do it!
One dog mom recently did just that. She has a Sheepadoodle, and when she took in 7 kittens and their mama... That sweet pup took right over. He's their parent now:
@ziggysheepadoodle*And surprising your husband
♬ sonido original - Vibes by LeyZiggy the Sheepadoodle is so sweet. My favorite part of this is the caption, where she mentions that she was also surprising her husband with these 7 kittens and their mama. Whether he or Ziggy was more surprised remains to be seen, but everybody seems happy.
Ziggy doesn't seem to mind at all that he became the dad/uncle to 7 kittens overnight: he loves them! The kittens aren't quite old enough to be adopted out yet, so they'll be there for a little while longer. He has the best playmates!
Related: Stray Cat Brings Her ‘Rainbow Kittens’ to Woman’s House for Dinner
The thing with being the foster dad to these kittens is that he's not the one responsible for actually raising them. All Ziggy has to do is teach them the most important thing to do: play! He's doing a great job:
@ziggysheepadoodleHe’s a natural
♬ Fe4r Jiggy - fe4rdjHe's just straight up gnawing on that kitten, which is absolutely hilarious. Those kittens will be well-suited to forever homes with dogs, which is always good.
Should You Foster Kittens With Dogs?If you have dogs, especially a larger breed like Ziggy, you might be a little apprehensive about the idea of fostering kittens. It makes sense, but to be honest, you shouldn't let having a dog hold you back!
Not all dogs will be well-suited to life with kittens, but if they are, it's definitely worth a try. Raising kittens with dogs, even in the short term, offers several benefits:
- The kittens have someone to bond with, which is especially great if they don't have their mom.
- It helps them figure out different ways to play.
- It increases their "adoptability" factor.
A lot of prospective adopters are looking for kittens that would fit in well with their existing dog(s), or they want their kitten to be familiar in case they ever want to get a dog. Luckily, Ziggy is the best!

Golden Retriever Stops in Her Tracks After Spotting a Pup Who Looks Just Like Her Late Best Friend
When dogs lose another dog, we can’t always know exactly what they understand. We can see the change, though. The quieter days. The searching. The way a familiar routine suddenly has an empty space in it.
That’s why this Golden Retriever’s reaction feels like it hits somewhere deep.
In the video, she suddenly notices another dog nearby, and everything about her body changes. She stops in her tracks, fully locked in on what she’s seeing. To anyone else, it may have looked like another dog down the beach. To her, it looked like something impossible.
@kaliincaliBless her little heart. #DogFriends #DogPack #RainbowBridge #DogBesties #SoulDog
♬ sonido original - Abi.Vigilante_OficialThe dog looked almost exactly like her best friend, who had passed away just a few months earlier.
Her human explains in the caption that, for a moment, it seemed like the Golden Retriever was wondering if it could really be him. That thought alone is enough to ruin your mascara. You can feel the ache in it: the hope, the confusion, the little pause where her heart seems to catch up before the rest of her does.
Her human gently let her smell the other dog so she could understand. It wasn't him. It was another pup. But that moment mattered anyway.
The post caption simply sends love to her sweet little heart, and honestly, what else is there to say? This is the kind of video that doesn't need much explaining because every dog person understands the look. She wasn't being dramatic. She saw someone who looked like the friend she missed.
Then the other dog looked back at her.
One commenter pointed out that part, and it really is the detail that makes the whole thing feel even more emotional. The look back almost feels like a tiny acknowledgment, like the world paused just long enough for her to have this strange, tender little moment.
Another commenter said that maybe, even if only for a second, her best friend really did show up through that lookalike pup to say hello. Whether you believe that literally or just emotionally, it’s a beautiful way to describe what the video feels like.
Sometimes grief does that. It finds you in ordinary places. A familiar face in a crowd. A sound that reminds you of someone. A dog who looks so much like the one you loved that your whole body stops before your mind can make sense of it.
And if you’ve ever lost a pet, you probably understand why her human needed to let her sniff him. That small act gave her information, but it also gave her kindness. She wasn’t rushed away from the feeling. She got a second to process it.
No, it wasn’t her best friend.
But maybe it was still a little hello.
How To Help a Dog Cope With Losing a FriendDogs can grieve changes in their household, especially when they lose an animal companion they were bonded with. You may notice them searching, sleeping more, acting clingy, losing interest in play, or seeming unsettled. The best thing you can do is keep their routine steady, offer extra comfort, and let them move at their own pace.
The AKC shares that dogs may show grief through changes in behavior after losing another pet. If your pup is struggling, gentle walks, familiar activities, and calm attention can help them feel grounded again.
And when a moment like this happens, give them the grace to pause. Sometimes a dog just needs a second to remember someone they loved.

This Golden Retriever Found a Tennis Match in the Park and Became Its No. 1 Fan Immediately
Golden Retrievers were basically engineered in a laboratory to believe every tennis ball on Earth belongs to them. It doesn't matter whether the ball is at the park, under the couch, or currently being used in a professional sporting event. In their minds, all tennis balls are community property.
Which is why one adorable Golden Retriever recently had the greatest day of his life after stumbling across a tennis match during a walk. Honestly, if Disney made movies specifically for dogs, this would be the plot.

Can you blame him?
To a Golden Retriever, this probably looked like an organized fetch tournament.
The video shows him running back and forth alongside the court as the players rally, carefully tracking every shot like he's analyzing game footage for ESPN.
I swear you can practically hear him thinking:
"These humans are pretty bad at fetch. Why do they keep hitting it away from themselves?"
Thankfully, the tennis players eventually gave the sweet boy a ball of his own.
Which is truly the happiest ending imaginable.
The Comments Section Was Full of Fellow Dog Parents Who Completely Understood:- "We tried to get our sweet Lab certified as a therapy dog for senior centers but he failed because he was OBSESSED with the tennis balls on the walkers."

- "I love how he is trying to find an opening to get in!"
- "That's the most Golden Retriever thing I've seen today and I have a Golden!"
- "I would 100% start attending tennis matches if this is what their cheer teams looked like."
Honestly, same.

Grey Mama Maine Coon Has a Litter of Every Color Kitten—and No One Can Figure Out How
When you see two cats, you probably expect that their babies will look like them. Why would two grey cats have an orange kitten? That just seems crazy to me.
However, for one Maine Coon, that's exactly what happened. She was paired with another grey Maine Coon, although a little lighter, and their kittens ended up being every color of the rainbow. It's like the genes just couldn't decide what to do:
@evermoremainesMoms printer had zero plan #mainecoon #mainecoonsoftiktok #mainecoonkitten #mainecooncat #mainecoonlovers
♬ stompin demons - EluzaiEvermore Maine Coons combines two of my personal favorite things: Maine Coons and Taylor Swift. That might not have been intentional on their part, but I'm going to pretend it was. Anyway, at Evermore Maine Coons, they're very intentional about who they breed together.
In putting these two together, they were probably hoping for some medium-grey kittens. Mom is super light, while Dad is all dark and moody! However, what they got was also some white ones, a few patchy grey kittens, and... an orange one?
Related: Maine Coon Cat Gives Birth to a Litter of Tiny Storm Clouds
They were definitely not expecting that. The cattery doesn't have answers, either, and that's just how it is sometimes. The one with the split-colored little nose is my favorite, and they actually posted a close-up video of her:
@evermoremainesEste is definitely a lover girl🥹🥹 #mainecoon #mainecoonsoftiktok #mainecoonkitten #mainecooncat #mainecoonlovers
♬ original sound - aryaWith a caption like "Este is a lover girl," I'm officially choosing to believe the Taylor Swift references are intentional, and I love that almost as much as I love the surprise kittens. Everything about this is so perfect!
What Causes Color Variation In Kittens? The singular orange kitten really trips me up with this litter, because he really comes out of nowhere. The rest of them make some sense: they're varying shades of grey/white/black. But orange?!
Image via Shutterstock / Nadia Cruzova
In some instances, coat variation happens when a cat mates with multiple males. Kittens in the same litter can have different fathers! However, in a controlled breeding environment like this one, that isn't the case. So, coat variation comes down to:
- Their parents' coats.
- The random assignment of those genes.
- Unexpected genes.
Typically, catteries do genetic testing on every cat before they breed them. The two parent cats in this situation must have both been carriers of the orange gene, which led to their singular orange kitten. Whatever the case may be, we're in love!

Dapple Dachshund Puppy Curled Up for a Nap Looks Exactly Like a 'Cookies and Cream Donut'
Certain dog breeds stand out due to their size, fluffiness or coat patterns. Great Danes turn heads thanks to their giant stature, Pomeranians win the poof prize, and Australian Shepherds have eye-catching mosaics for fur.
Vienna is a Dapple Dachshund puppy who could make you do a double take with her unique coloring that resembles a sweet treat.
@viennadappleddoxieThe sweetest donut ever #minidachshund #donut #dogtok #weinerdog #doxielove
♬ Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby - Cigarettes After SexIn the TikTok from @viennadappledoxie, the precious puppy was curled up in a cozy bed and fast asleep. Vienna was the picture of peace and calm as she slumbered and was obviously in no hurry to wake up.
The canine cutie's speckled coat could make stop and stare. The dark espresso base marbled with creamy ivory fur and honey-cinnamon markings made for a stunning combination. Her fluffy, floppy ears beautifully blended into her body as she napped.
Vienna's circular position put a different spin on her appearance, where her coat resembled vanilla frosting swirled into some crushed chocolate cookie pieces.
The video likened the look to a favorite, deep-fried pastry. "One cookies and cream donut please!" the onscreen text read.
The description was spot-on, where the Dachshund's mottled marbling of fur mimicked the richness and decadence of a donut.
What Causes a Dapple Dachshund's Unique Coat?A dapple dachshund's coat pattern is caused by the merle gene, which produces a patchy dilution of the base coat color. This gene can also affect eye pigmentation, resulting in blue or "wall" eyes.
The colors of dapple Doxies range from chocolate to black, white and gray combo patterns. Standard Dachshunds have three coat types: smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired. The dapple effect is possible in all three varieties but is least likely in wire-haired coats.
Related: Dachshund Watches His iPad Just Like a Human Kid — and It's Straight Out of a Pixar Movie
Like standard Dachshunds, dapple Dachshunds are prone to certain health issues, including Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). This condition produces bulging or slipped discs in the spine.
Dapple Dachshunds have a higher chance of eye conditions, and are more susceptible to sunburn due to their light pigmentation.
Vienna perfectly represents the beauty and mystique of a dapple Dachshund, even when she's sound asleep.

10 Signs You and Your Dog Are in Perfect Sync
Building a strong bond with your dog doesn’t happen overnight, it grows through daily routines, shared experiences, and subtle communication. But even for devoted pet owners, it’s not always easy to tell if you and your durry companion are on the same page. After all, you and your pup communicate differently, which can make things tricky at times. To help you understand your relationship better, we rounded up 10 signs you and your dog are perfectly in sync.
The love signs are always there, according to dog trainers, but many pet parents don't know what to look for or how to click with their furry companion.
The truth is, experts says dogs often feed off of their owner’s energy. "Dogs are designed to live in a balanced state, but it takes a balanced human to bring that out in them and to keep them there,” says Shannon Walker, dog trainer and founder of Northwest Battle Buddies. “They are always responding to us, always taking their cues from the person they are bonded to. When your dog is genuinely relaxed in your presence, that is the relationship working exactly as it should.”
Of course, every dog has their own personality and off days. So how can you tell if you and your dog are truly in sync? Trainers say these key signs are the clearest clues.
Related: If Your Dog Sleeps Like This, It’s a Sweet Sign They Feel Safe with You
Here Are 10 Signs You and Your Dog Are Perfectly in Sync Young man playing with A dog gazing intro its pet parents eyes and bonding. The best dog-human points of connection often show up in quiet, everyday moments. If you recognize several of these behaviors, it may mean your dog is far more connected to you than you realize.
You Share a Heartbeat, LiterallyA 2024 study published in Scientific Reports found that dogs and their owners can synchronize heart rate variability—the subtle fluctuations in time between heartbeats. Researchers studied 25 dog-owner pairs using ECG electrodes while they relaxed, played, and petted together.
What they found was striking: the dogs’ and pet parent’s heart rhythms tended to align, regardless of the activity. In other words, your nervous systems may actually sync when you spend time together.
You Naturally Match Your Walking PaceA shared walking rhythm is one of the clearest everyday signs of a tight relationship between a dog and pet parent. Because dogs can move faster than humans, a pup that comfortably matches your pace without constant leash tension or correction is actively choosing to stay connected with you.
“It sounds simple, but a shared walking pace is a quietly powerful indicator of how well-tuned a dog and owner are to each other,” says Molly Jespersen, Camp Bow Wow training specialist.
This means a lot, according to Walker. “Walking is not simply exercise for a dog. It is one of the most instinctively fulfilling things they can do,” she says. “When your dog walks beside you in that way, matching your pace and checking in regularly, they are not just exercising their body. They are fulfilling something deep and primal, and they are doing it with you as their leader.”
You Hold Eye ContactSoft, relaxed eye contact between you and your dog is a powerful bonding signal, says Amanda Farah, CPDT-K, of Best Friends Animal Society
"When your dog can comfortably meet your gaze without tension or avoidance, it suggests emotional safety and trust. It’s often a sign they feel in sync with you and socially secure in your presence," she points out.
Related: 7 Dog Breeds That Always Seem to Know How You’re Feeling
Your Dog Checks in With You on Walks"Having your dog glance back at you on walks or at the park is one of the clearest signs of a secure attachment,” according to Jespersen. “Dogs who do this know where you are because they want to,” she explains. “It reflects a bond built on consistency and positive association, where you are a source of safety rather than a restriction.”
Walker agrees and adds, “A dog that keeps looking for you, ensuring you’re always in their periphery, is saying 'I see you, I'm with you,’” she says. “It's one of the clearest signs of a trusting, connected relationship.”
They Mirror Your EmotionsOne adorable way to tell if your loyal dog is on the same wavelength with you is if they copy your emotions.
"You and your dog have shared energy," Walker reveals. “When you are calm and settled, your dog is calm and settled. When you are animated and excited, they light up right alongside you. It happens almost without thinking, and yet it is one of the most telling signs of a truly connected relationship.”
Jespersen adds that this reflects deep attunement: dogs in close relationships don’t just respond to behavior, they respond to emotional tone.
They Want to Sleep with YouDogs are naturally social sleepers, and choosing to rest near you is a strong indicator of trust and security.
“As pack animals, proximity during rest signals safety,” Jespersen notes. "So if your dog curls up beside you—or seeks your bed at night—it means they view you as their safe base during vulnerable moments like sleep."
Your Yawns “Catch” Each Other More Than You’d ExpectYawning isn’t just fatigue—it can be socially contagious, especially between bonded pairs.
Jespersen explains that dogs are more likely to yawn in response to their owners than to strangers, which is a phenomenon linked to emotional attunement and empathy. It’s a subtle but fascinating sign of social connection across species. How cute is that?
Your Dog Comes When Called (Even When Distracted)Some devoted dogs are better at this than others. But reliable recall is more than training, it reflects trust and relational value.
“A dog who comes when called consistently is a dog who has learned that responding to you leads to good things, and who trusts that you are worth orienting toward, even when something more interesting is competing for their attention," Jespersen states.
Over time, recall becomes less about obedience and more about connection and confidence in the relationship.
They Don't Need to Follow You EverywhereBelieve it or not, if you dog doesn't follow you around like your shadow, this is actually a sign that your dog feels secure and well-bonded with you, Jespersen says.
“The distinction between a dog who chooses to be with you and one who cannot bear to be without you is significant,” she says. “A dog who is truly in sync with their owner has enough trust in the relationship to relax independently.”
They Lean Into YouWhat's it mean when your dog leans on you? The answer is actually really heartwarming. When a dog leans their body against you, it’s more than affection, it’s physical confirmation of trust.
Walker describes it as a grounding gesture: “It is one of the most instinctive expressions of connection a dog can offer.” Whether they rest on your foot or press into your side, they’re choosing closeness as a form of comfort and security.

7 Best Cat Breeds for Seniors
For many older adults, home is more than just a place, it’s where daily routines slow down and companionship becomes especially meaningful. That's why getting a cat can be a great idea. To help you find the perfect one for you, we rounded up the seven best cats for seniors that are affectionate, calm and easy to care for, according to experts.
However, when looking for a senior-friendly cat, the right match isn’t just about personality, but about their care needs and how well they will fit into your life so they'll feel more like family to you than a pet. “There’s a lot to consider beyond just temperament when you're looking for a cat for older adults,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. “You also need to think about grooming needs, diet, and how much daily interaction the cat will require.”
After all, some felines are naturally better suited to relaxed routines, while others may need more stimulation or attention. Neither is better than the other, it simply depends on what you're looking for. However, for older adults living by themselves, in a small apartment, or who aren't super active, low-maintenance cat breeds may be a better option.
Of course, every cat is an individual, and personality can vary widely even within a breed. But if you’re an older adult looking for a feline companion to be by your side that is easy to care for, experts says these are the top cat breeds for seniors to consider.

These easygoing cats are known for their gentle personalities and quiet nature, making them a natural fit for peaceful households. While they form deep connectioned with their pet parents, they aren't overly needy and can comfortably spend time on their own, which may appeal to seniors who travel or maintain busy schedules.
Russian Blues also enjoy playtime and benefit from interactive toys that keep them mentally engaged. Despite their plush, velvety coat, grooming is relatively simple, with brushing once or twice a week typically enough to keep them looking their best.
Breed Stats- Personality: Playful, affectionate
- Weight: 7-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 10–20 years
The British Shorthair may be chill, but they will make you feel super loved. So, if you're looking for an affectionate cat breed that can be your furry sidekick, these felines are all about being close to their humans. Though the way they may show you how much they adore you can vary. “Some British Shorthairs are lap cats while others prefer to rest nearby instead,” says Julie Hunt, DVM, a veterinarian contributor at Embrace Pet Insurance.
Another reason why seniors adore this breed is because they don't require much grooming. “Their short fur requires no maintenance, as they groom themselves to perfection without any help,” Hunt shares. "As a result, they are a great companion for anyone, including older adults. Plus, these laid-bakc cats aren’t loud, demanding, or known for terrorizing the house with midnight zoomies.
Breed Stats- Personality: Gentle, easy-going
- Weight: 8-16 pounds
- Lifespan: 12-20 years
If your dream pet is one that is emotionally attached to you follows you from room to room, the Balinese may be the perfect match. Their affectionate, people-oriented nature makes them stand out among cat breeds for seniors.
"Balinese are highly intelligent, chatty and have a dog-like personality," Hunt points out. She adds that makes them a great fit for older adults who want an interactive companion without the demands of caring for a larger pet.
Since Balinese cats are playful, they thrive on interaction and mental stimulation. So, if you're an older adult with one, there are a few simple things you can do to keep them entertained. “It's best to have lot of toys for them and a climbing structure to meet their needs," Hunt suggests.
Breed Stats- Personality: Social, talkative
- Weight: 5-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 10–20+ years
For seniors who want a devoted cat that feels more like a friend than a roommate, the Bombay cat is hard to beat. "This breed is an ideal pet for just about everyone," says Warner. “The Bombay can be quite easy to care for and is really affectionate."
Though they are social cats, so they aren't the right fit for every household. Ultimately, Warner says that Bombays are perfect for older owners who can give them plenty of interaction, cuddle time and occasional playtime. Plus, since these cats can be leashed trained, they can be great walking buddies as well.

Few breeds as are cute and sweet as Scottish Folds. Known for their signature folded-over ears, along with their love of people, experts say these companion cats are great pets for seniors who live alone.
"This breed is known to be affectionate and calm,” Warner notes. "They are loyal to their humans and enjoy being around people. While they are a loving breed, they also enjoy being in your vicinity verses hanging out on your lap all the time."
Another plus? The Scottish Folds get along well with other pets, making them a good choice if you’re a senior looking who want to bring in another feline to your family. It's no wonder these gentle cats are a favorite of so many.

If you've always wanted a furry cat, the Birman is one experts recommend for seniors. “The Birman is a beautiful, long-haired cat known for its intense affection for its owner, earning it the nickname the ‘Velcro cat,’” Hunt reveals. “They are sweet, sociable and loving.”
Their loyalty and strong bond with their owners also make them perfect pets for active seniors who are home most of the time. "Birmans don’t like to be left alone for long periods of time, making them a good fit for homebodies or those who don’t travel a lot," Hunt says.
Overall, for seniors who can meet their needs, this devoted cat breed can be the perfect housemate.
Breed Stats- Personality: Gentle, affectionate, easy to handle
- Weight: 12 pounds
- Lifespan: 9-15+ years
Did you know American Shorthairs are one of the top cats for seniors? It's true! "These cats offer the best of both worlds as they bond well with their owners and also retain some independence." Hunt says. “Some American Shorthairs can be lap cats, while others may choose to rest nearby instead."
These cats can also be talkative, allowing you to have plenty of chats together if you're a senior who lives alone. "They are typically intelligent, low-maintenance and calm cats that can also easily be trained," Hunt notes.
While they are beloved for their chill personalities, Hunt says each cat if different. “American Shorthair cats can vary somewhat in their temperaments and their coat colors," she says. “However, they are overall senior-friendly cats you can have an unbreakable bond with."

5 Hacks for Getting Your Stubborn Dog to Finally Take Their Medication
Whether your dog is sick and needs a course of antibiotics or they've been diagnosed with a condition that requires a daily pill, you may have trouble figuring out how to get your pup to actually take their medication, especially if they're a bit on the stubborn side. (As someone with a very willful shih-tzu mix, believe me when I say that I completely understand the struggle.)
Of course, you’ve probably tried all the usual tricks, like hiding it in their food or a piece of cheese, but sometimes, this approach just doesn’t work. So, what do you do then—and is there anything else you can do?
Luckily, there absolutely is. To find out some hacks about getting a stubborn dog to finally take their medication, we spoke with veterinarian Dr. Jessica Gilliam, senior manager, expert advice at Mars Petcare Nutrition North America, to learn some ways to help get your dog to take a pill without ruining your bond and help keep your dog safe, happy and healthy.
Here’s how to finally get a stubborn dog to take their medication. Learn why you can't easily fool your dog, how your first instinct may backfire and cause more problems, the best way to give your dog a pill and what to do if they really, really don't want to take their medication.
Why Dogs Are So Good at Finding the PillKarsten Winegeart / Unsplash
Have you ever tried to hide your dog's pill in their food or in a piece of cheese, only to discover it in the bowl after your pup is done eating or spit out on the floor? This is all thanks to your dog's keen sense of smell.
"Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell, which is far more powerful than ours and allows them to easily detect the scent of medication," Dr Gilliam says. "When pet parents try to hide a pill in human food, a dog’s super-powered nose can easily identify the contrasting scent of the pill inside."
How Your Dog Knows Exactly What You're HidingR+R Medicinals / Unsplash
In addition to the pill's scent, dogs can also read you through your body language, especially if you're nervous about administering the medication.
"If you’re hovering, acting tense or staring at them to make sure they swallow, your dog can pick up on that shift in energy and become suspicious," Dr. Gilliam says.
Why Forcing the Issue Can Damage Your Bond (and Backfire)Tamas Pap / Unsplash
"We advise pet parents to use alternate easy-to-follow techniques to make pill time a positive, rewarding and safe experience that allows them to build trust with their pets," Dr. Gilliam says. "Veterinarians and vet technicians are trained to safely administer medications orally. Without proper training, pill time can turn into a high-stress battle, which can damage the bond you share with your pet, create a long-term negative association, and put both the pet and pet parent at risk of physical injury."
5 Hacks to Get Your Dog to Take Their MedicineHere are five helpful hacks for getting your dog to take their medicine.
1. Wash Your Hands"A dog’s sense of smell is roughly 10,000 times stronger than yours, so if the scent of the pill is clinging to your hands, your dog might be able to smell it and be suspicious of whatever you’re trying to give them," Dr. Gilliam says.
2. Use a Purpose-Built, Vet-Recommended Treat"GREENIES Pill Pockets for Dogs treats is a hassle-free and healthy alternative to disguising medicine in human food," Dr. Gilliam says. "The No. 1 vet-recommended choice for giving pills, these GREENIES Pill Pockets treats have a built-in pouch and shapeable texture that completely encloses the medication to mask the smell and taste of the pill, so your dog never knows it’s there."
3. Try the 'Decoy Routine'"Offer your dog a plain, empty pill-disguising treat first to get them excited. Capitalize on the excitement, and once they gulp that down, immediately feed them the second one containing the sealed medication," Dr. Gilliam says. "Make sure your dog doesn’t see you preparing the pill treat. To stay within feeding guidelines, you can also pinch or break off smaller pieces from a single treat to use as a medication-free decoy, or pair the medicated treat with other low-calorie, high-value rewards."
4. Pair It With a Walk or Playtime"Give your dog their medication right before a highly anticipated event, like a walk or mealtime," Dr. Gilliam says. "When dogs are excited about a fun activity, they’ll be more likely to swallow the treat quickly without inspecting it."
5. Create a Positive Association"Act exactly as you do when giving them a normal, everyday treat. Keep your voice light and happy, avoid staring at them while they chew, and walk away casually," Dr. Gilliam says. "Always reward the dog with a treat and praise to create a positive association with the whole experience."
Capsules vs. Tablets: Why You Can't Always Crush the PillThe type of medication you're administering will also determine how you give it. For example, capsules and tablets are different types of medication, so how they're processed in your dog's body will be different.
"Tablets are typically compressed powder, whereas capsules consist of a powder or liquid enclosed in a dissolvable outer shell. Beyond how they look, they dissolve differently in your dog's digestive system," Dr. Gilliam says. "Because of this, you should never crush tablets or open capsules to mix into food without consulting your veterinarian first, as altering the pill can destroy the medication's effectiveness, cause an upset stomach, and make the medicine more detectable and bitter tasting."
What to Do If Your Dog Flat-Out Refuses Their PrescriptionOf course, if you're still having trouble getting your dog to take their medication, stay patient and keep trying positive methods. However, if all else fails, contact your veterinarian for alternative strategies.
"First, don’t force it. Try switching up the flavor of the treats you’re offering (just be sure to check the feeding guidelines for the treats first). If they still refuse, contact your veterinarian to discuss alternative options," Dr. Gilliam recommends.
Armed and empowered with this information, you can get your doggie to take their meds while still keeping your bond positive.

Cow Sees the Ocean for the First Time and Has the Best Beach Day
Most people don’t look at a cow and think, “That girl needs a beach vacation.”
Maybe that’s our mistake.
Matilda is making a strong argument that cows deserve adventure days, too. In the video, she gets to check out the surf for the very first time on Australia’s Mid North Coast, and the whole thing has the energy of someone discovering vacation mode after years of only knowing farm mode.
View this post on InstagramThe video caption makes a simple point: Bring your cow along, because they only get to see the parts of the world you show them. That line is dangerous to anyone already vulnerable to farm-animal feelings. Suddenly, you're not watching a cow near the ocean. You're wondering if every cow secretly has a bucket list.
Matilda certainly looks like she does to me.
She walks toward the water with curiosity, taking in the movement, the noise, the waves, and the strange new world in front of her. The post caption says she had the time of her life checking out the surf, and it’s easy to believe. She doesn’t look like a prop in someone else’s beach day. She looks like the guest of honor.
View this post on InstagramI love seeing a farm animal in a place we don’t usually picture them. Dogs at the beach? Normal. Kids at the beach? Expected. A cow having a gentle little ocean adventure? That feels like the internet handing us a tiny gift and saying, “Here, this will make your day weirdly better.”
One comment begged not to be shown things like this because they don't have room for a cow, and that's an extremely valid concern. This video does make cow parenting look dangerously tempting. I have to agree with the panic, except my problem is slightly different: I may have the space, but I don't have the beach. Matilda has set an unfairly high standard.
The video doesn’t just show a cute animal doing something weird. It shows care. Someone thought Matilda might enjoy seeing something new, and then they made it happen in a way that feels calm and happy. She got a safe little field trip, a first look at the ocean, and probably the best story in the pasture when she got home.
View this post on InstagramThere’s no big dramatic twist here. No chaos. No cow running wild through beach towels. Just Matilda meeting the surf like a thoughtful little traveler in a very large body.
Some animals don’t need much to remind us that their worlds are only as big as we let them be.
Matilda saw the ocean.
Now I’m wondering what else she wants to see.
How To Safely Take Farm Animals on AdventuresIf you ever take a farm animal somewhere new, the goal should be calm, controlled, and safe. A good adventure is still about the animal’s comfort first.
The RSPCA Queensland shares helpful livestock care reminders, especially around heat, water, shade, and transportation. A few smart tips:
- Choose the right animal. Not every cow wants a beach day. Pick an animal who's calm, handled often, and comfortable with people.
- Keep trips short at first. New sights, sounds, smells, and surfaces can be a lot, so start small and watch their body language.
Matilda made the ocean look magical, but the sweetest part is that she got to explore it safely.

Dachshund's Adorable Reaction to Mom's New Boyfriend Is Melting Hearts
When a new human enters the picture of an already-existing family, dynamics can always be tricky.
Especially when that family is a dog mom and her Dachshund named Lady, who have basically been inseparable since she adopted her.
However, on a recent incredible trip to France and Italy, Lady got to spend a lot of time with her mom's new beau.
It turns out this Dachshund loves Mom's boyfriend, and it couldn't be sweeter.
@abbybaffoeThat’s her man tbh

What a sweet compilation of this cutie-pie dog forming an emotional connection with her mom's new boyfriend.
Clearly, Lady had an instant connection with her mom's new guy, and we couldn't be happier for the trio.

Can Dogs Tell When Someone Is Good for Their Parent? We know dogs can have brilliant instincts when it comes to hunting and finding things, using their incredible sense of smell, but can they tell if a person is inherently good or bad?
Especially a new boyfriend or girlfriend?
According to Petscare.com, dogs aren't able to assess if a person is morally good or bad, but they are very attuned to threatening or dishonest behavior by reading body language and observing emotional cues.
Dogs will also mirror the emotions of humans, so if the person is showing caring and kind behavior, the pup is more likely to approach them and interact positively with them.
We're guessing Lady's mom, influencer Abby Baffoe, has very positive interactions with her new beau, and Lady has been observing that and now feels very comfortable around him.
Baffoe even wrote in the caption of the video, "No one talks about watching your girl dog fall for him also."
It also helps that the three of them were on the most fabulous trip together in Paris, St. Tropez, and Monaco.
That would put anyone in a good mood!

This Labrador Has One Job at Fetch—Ruining It for the Golden Retriever
Playing fetch with a Golden Retriever usually feels like a pretty safe bet. They’re built for it emotionally. You throw the ball, they light up, they retrieve it with joy, and everybody has a wholesome little moment.
Unless there’s a Labrador involved.
Then all bets, balls, and pool turns are apparently off.
@rachaelsteinlePiper has given up #lab #golden #dogsoftiktok
♬ original sound - rachaelsteinleIn this video, Piper, the Golden Retriever, is trying to enjoy what should be a very simple game. Mom throws a ball pretty far for Lady, the Black Lab, who immediately takes off after it. That should be Piper’s opening. Lady is busy. The pool is clear. Another ball is available. This is finally Piper’s time.
For about half a second.
Mom tosses a ball into the pool for Piper, but before Piper can fully process her opportunity, Lady has somehow returned from her other mission, launched herself into the water, and stolen that ball, too!
The caption on the video sets it up perfectly: Trying to play fetch with a Golden Retriever when there’s a Lab in the mix is not really fetch.
It’s more like fetch with a tiny black hole that absorbs every ball within a 40-foot radius.
Piper’s reaction is what makes it. She really doesn’t seem that shocked. The post caption says Piper has basically surrendered, and you can see it in her whole body. This isn't her first meeting with the Department of Labrador Interference.
She knows the system is broken.
A comment joked that Piper seemed to realize there was no point in chasing anything because Lady was already on her way back. Piper has done the math. Why run? Why swim? Why believe in fairness? Lady is already airborne, probably with two balls and a backup plan.
I find the difference between the two dogs absolutely hilarious. Piper has Golden Retriever softness. She looks like she would enjoy a turn-based activity with rules, emotional balance, and maybe a nice compliment afterward.
Lady, meanwhile, is running a hostile takeover of fetch.
And yet, you can’t really be mad at her. Labs are famously overly enthusiastic, and Lady is giving 110% to every single ball, even the ones that were absolutely not meant for her. Is she being rude? Technically, yes. Is she also deeply committed to the sport? Also yes.
It’s not just a dog stealing a ball. It’s a full sibling dynamic in 12 seconds. One pup is trying to participate. The other is winning a game no one else agreed to play.
Piper may have given up, but she also gave us the perfect face of someone who has accepted that her coworker is doing too much.
Lady got the ball.
Piper got the sympathy.
Honestly, both girls won.
How To Keep Fetch Fun With Multiple DogsIf you have more than one dog, fetch can get chaotic quickly. Some dogs love the chase so much that they’ll steal every turn without meaning to. You can help by using separate toys, giving each pup their own space, or taking turns so the quieter dog still gets a fair chance to play.
The AKC shares that fetch can be a great way to exercise and bond with your dog, but the game works best when your pooch understands the basics and stays engaged in a healthy way.
If one dog keeps taking over, don’t punish the enthusiasm. Just add structure. Piper deserves a turn, and Lady clearly needs about 14 extra balls.

Great Pyrenees Is So White and Fluffy, She Looks Like a 'Domesticated Polar Bear'
There's a white, fluffy Great Pyrenees named Pippa who has something to say, and she wants you to know it.
Pippa is so massive and so fluffy, like a white cloud, that the people in the comments section of the video below have a lot to say about this beautiful Great Pyrenees—even comparing her to a "highly domesticated Polar Bear."
@pippathepyreneesBarking just because she can at this point #greatpyrenees #dogsoftiktok #bark

Her stature and size, and of course, the white fluffiness, do make her a Polar Bear doppelganger.
Another person wrote, "Oh… the Pyr temper tantrum. I know it well!"
And going back to the cloud comparison, another person wrote, "It’s a cloud with legs and an attitude."
Apparently, this friendly, bullying attitude is common among the Great Pyrenees breed, according to the comments section, as another person wrote, "This is my Pyr, and I love him very much, but GAH DAYUM is he loud. They bark to hear their own voices, ISTG. He also throws the nastiest side-eye."
Finally, another favorite comment is this perfect description of Pippa: "100 lbs of floof."

Are Great Pyrenees Good Family Dogs? What To KnowThough Pippa may be having a bit of a diva moment in this viral video, you might be wondering if Great Pyrenees dogs are overall good for families.
According to VetsExplainPets.com, the answer is yes.
They are very affectionate dogs who love people, including children.
And though this video may suggest otherwise, Great Pyrenees are actually very calm and gentle pups.
They love to lounge all around the house if you're looking for a cuddle buddy!
But at the same time, they are excellent guard dogs.
Their imposing size and prominent bark definitely make them the perfect protectors.
The only thing that may stress out Great Pyrenees dog parents is that they can be loud barkers, and if it's not controlled, it may annoy neighbors.
Another possible issue is that their beautiful, fluffy, cloud-like coats mean a lot of shedding.
Otherwise, they're the perfect family dogs, even when they bark at you in the kitchen!

14-Year-Old Blind and Deaf Cat 'Still Has a Strong Will to Live' Despite Ending Up in a Shelter
Senior dogs and cats in shelters often get passed over for adoption due to their age and potential health issues. These wonderful fur babies hope for a forever home just like their younger furry friends and have so much to offer a loving family.
Joe is a 14-year-old blind and deaf cat currently staying at the NAWS Humane Society. Despite his senior status and physical challenges, this sweet cat has more life left to live.
@franflightJoe deserves to live whatever time he has left in a comfortable home. We should have Joe’s bloodwork results back tomorrow, but for now he’s comfortable with us. Animal control said that Joe has a, “strong will to live”… and that’s where the water works started. Joe primarily sleeps throughout the day, except for meal time of course. If you are willing to make Joe apart of your home regardless of his medical/hospice state please e-mail me directly or message me. I’m sending you guys all of my love as always. Let’s find Joe’s person. 🥹🤍🫂 #adopt #adoptdontshop #cat #catsoftiktok #catadoption
♬ Sand Drawing - Judah EarlThe TikTok from @franflight told Joe's story and gave some details on his medical condition.
"Joe is blind and deaf," the on-screen text shared as the NAWS staff member spent some one-on-one time with the pretty kitty. "At 14 years old, he's at the shelter. We are anticipating that Joe will become a hospice cat as we wait for his bloodwork to come back."
The feline fur baby was found as a stray, so the shelter doesn't have extensive background information on Joe's history. He is not neutered and is positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
In spite of these issues, Joe clearly has a huge heart and a sense of adventure, and animal control officers noted that he has a “strong will to live.”
"We do know that Joe is a great lap cat," the story continued. "He has a great appetite, and he likes to explore."
What to Know Before Adopting a Senior Cat With Special NeedsParenting a special-needs cat comes with challenges and a great deal of responsibility. Some things to consider before adopting one of these wonderful cats include:
- Commitment — These felines often require daily medication, prescription diets, regular grooming and bathing, and environmental modification.
- Safe environment — Specific safeguarding is sometimes necessary such as blocked access to stairs and windows, special food bowls, and easily accessible litter boxes.
- Cost — Some special needs cats require frequent veterinary care, medication, and prescription diet, which can impact finances.
- Advanced care — Injections and other procedures may be necessary to administer at home, so make sure you are comfortable with what is required.

8 Human Foods You Didn't Know Were Highly Toxic to Cats
Cats are mischievous and sneaky creatures, and most of the time, that kind of behavior means you're in for funny moments and a little troublemaking. However, that sly nature also means you have to be wary of leaving food out on the table or counter. Your curious feline may try and steal a bite, but not all of the foods we eat as humans are cat-safe. In fact, some of them can actually be toxic to our furry friends.
Even when they don't look interested, cats have their eye on our food, and like any pet, they'll stop at nothing to sneak a bite. While there are certainly foods you can safely share with your cat, others are considered highly toxic to your feline friend. These toxic human foods could very well be sitting in your pantry or kitchen right now, making them easy targets for a curious cat at any time. Experts agree that foods toxic to cats should be stored out of reach, but as any cat parent knows, accidents may happen.

Knowing exactly what to store and keep away from your cat's reach is the best way to protect your pet. These are the eight human foods veterinary experts say are toxic to cats. Know them so you can keep your cat healthy and safe.
Why Cats Can’t Process Our LeftoversKari Shea/Unsplash
It's not uncommon for cat parents to cave when their feline has them wrapped around their little paws (no shame in that). However, even when leftovers mean just a small bite, that still doesn't make them a safe option for cats because even a tiny taste can be toxic.
"The foods we eat contain a lot of different ingredients that don’t always agree with a cat’s digestive system," says Dr. Chyrle Bonk, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. She adds that foods that are heavy in carbohydrates can be difficult for cats to digest, while other common ingredients found in your pantry or kitchen can be toxic because cats don't have the enzymes they need to break certain foods or ingredients down. Even foods that aren't considered highly toxic may still cause digestive issues for your cat, even in small amounts.
Why Cats Are Especially Vulnerable to ToxinsCintya Marisa/Unsplash
Cats may have a reputation for being independent and resilient, but their biology actually makes them quite susceptible to certain toxins.
“Cats have some unique metabolic characteristics that make them sensitive to certain compounds,” says Dr. Joy Myers, a veterinarian on Vetster. “They are also meticulous groomers, which means substances on the skin or fur may eventually be ingested.”
That said, Dr. Myers notes that cats tend to be more selective eaters than dogs. While a dog might rummage through the trash, your cat is far less likely to seek out food there or off the street, though that doesn't mean they won't find other ways to get into things they shouldn't.

Bones aren't toxic in the traditional sense, but they can still be very dangerous for cats. As Dr. Myers explains, cooked bones can fracture, cause choking, or lead to gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation. It's best to keep leftover or discarded bones well out of your cat's reach.
Grapes and RaisinsGünter Hoffmann/Unsplash
While the dangers of grapes and raisins are well documented in dogs, exactly how they affect cats is still being studied. Despite this, researchers have determined that they can still be dangerous.
“Nevertheless, ingestion should still be taken seriously because kidney injury has been reported in other species and the exact mechanism remains poorly understood,” Dr. Myers says.
Though more research is needed, it’s always best to steer on the side of caution and keep grapes and raisins safely locked away from your cat.
Raw Bread DoughNadya Spetnitskaya/Unsplash
Unlike some of the other items on this list, raw bread dough can create direct toxicity inside your cat's body. Dr. Myers says that yeast dough can expand in their stomach while simultaneously producing alcohol through fermentation, both of which are extremely dangerous and toxic to cats.
AlcoholMatthieu Joannon/Unsplash
As with the majority of pets, alcohol is a toxin to cats.
“Cats are sensitive to alcohol, and their small size puts them at risk with even small amounts,” Dr. Myers says. “Beer, wine, liquor, raw bread dough and foods containing alcohol can cause profound neurologic depression, low blood sugar, respiratory failure and other serious complications.”
To prevent accidents from happening, it’s best to keep your alcoholic drinks covered or away from the reach of cats.
Chocolate and CaffeineTowfiqu barbhuiya/Unsplash
When it comes to anything containing chocolate or caffeine, your cat's sneakiness is your biggest concern. Dr. Myers says that chocolate, energy drinks, tea and supplements containing methylxanthines are highly toxic to cats and can trigger vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heart rhythms, tremors, seizures and potentially life-threatening complications.
Onions, Garlic and Similar Plantsmayu ken/Unsplash
Anything from the allium family—such as onions, garlic, chives and leeks—should be kept far away from your feline friends. These plants and spices can damage red blood cells and cause anemia in cats, Dr. Myers says.
This applies not just to the whole foods themselves, but also to soups, gravies, seasoning packets, baby foods and table scraps that contain them as ingredients too.
Excessively Fatty FoodsThomas Park/Unsplash
While very delicious to humans, excessively fatty foods aren’t the best human foods to keep around cats. “Fatty leftovers such as bacon grease, turkey skin or large amounts of table scraps are not necessarily 'toxic,' but they may trigger vomiting, diarrhea or pancreatitis in susceptible cats,” Dr. Myers says. Just like with grapes and raisins, it’s best to be cautious with these foods rather than risk any potential harm to your cat.
Products Containing XylitolElsa Olofsson/Unsplash
Xylitol may not be a household name, but it's a common sugar substitute found in gums, mints, candies, baked goods and some peanut butters. While it's perhaps better known as a toxin for dogs, cats exposed to xylitol should still be evaluated by a veterinarian or poison control expert if they ingest a food item containing this sugar substitute.
The Early Warning Signs of Feline ToxicityEmily Crawford/Unsplash
Many of the early warning signs of feline toxicity will depend on the type of toxin they consume. While some may have more visible symptoms, other symptoms may fly under the radar.
“Signs of toxicity will depend on what your cat ate, but may include drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, incoordination or lethargy,” Dr. Bonk says.
Many of these symptoms may be confused for other medical issues, making it even more vital to keep a close watch on what your cat is consuming.

Although the symptoms of toxicity might be your first sign that your cat has ingested something it shouldn’t have, they might be appearing too late. Dr. Bonk says that by the time symptoms appear, it’s typically too late to decontaminate their stomachs before it’s fully absorbed into their system.

Acting fast is the key to protecting your cat after eating something toxic. Instead of waiting to see if symptoms develop, Dr. Bonk suggests that you “contact your veterinarian or the Pet Poison Hotline immediately, even if you’re unsure if it’s toxic or not. They will direct you on what actions to take next depending on what your cat ate and when.”
Our feline friends can be mischievous, but when it comes to food, a firm watch is your best protection. Not every toxic food contains life-threatening ingredients, but all of them can escalate into dangerous situations. When it comes to your cat's diet, it's always best to err on the side of caution and stick to foods developed specifically for cats.
