Isabel Klee is well-known in animal advocacy circles. Fostering over 30 dogs to date, Klee usually fosters canines with severe emotional or physical issues. Her current foster, a small and shaggy light brown dog named Marmie, is slowly letting her guard down after experiencing major trauma.

Marmie is particularly fearful of men, so Klee's fiancé, Jacob, had to take things very slowly when they were first introduced.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee explained that Jacob and Marmie hadn't met yet and were about to have a face-to-face introduction.

"Jacob has been gone for a couple of days, and he's about to meet Marmie for the first time," she shared.

Jacob walked in the door, which prompted Marmie to bark. Her fur baby brother, Simon, greeted Jacob with cuddles and tail wags while Marmie continued to voice her distress. Klee called her over to help her calm down.

Jacob sat on the couch and offered his hand to Marmie. He was very patient and didn't make the first move. Marmie sat with Klee on the couch, where Jacob was able to give her a few gentle pets.

"You're so scared. I'm sorry," he told her.

Marmie Started Warming Up

Jacob let Marmie sniff his hand and gave her plenty of time to get used to his scent. "I'm nice — I promise," he said as he gave Marmie some affection and words of affirmation. "You're beautiful.

"She had a hard life," Klee told Jacob as Marmie kissed her nose.

The precious pooch was still wary of this "newcomer" as they continued interacting, but started to give him a chance. She even walked up to Jacob on the couch, gave him a sniff, and got cozy next to him. Then she gave the ultimate sign of trust by rolling on her side and allowing Jacob to give her a belly rub.

"I'm so honored," Jacob said.

It will take some time, but these two are obviously off to a promising start. Klee praised her fiancé for his gentleness and understanding.

Peppa, the Mini Jack Russell Terrier, might be the most energetic dog on TikTok, and her zoomies are legendary. Ok, maybe legendary is a little strong, but her account is known for its numerous videos documenting her epic – and epically hilarious hallway sprints. In this latest one, Peppa races back and forth from room to room, and all the while, her Labrador spectator sibling pants away as usual. He's exhausted just from watching her strenuous routine. This zoomie session, however, comes on the heels of a walk, which apparently isn't enough exercise for this sprightly pup.

Peppa has plenty of repeat fans, with one commenting, "Makes me laugh, every time."

One calls her antics "draining the battery," while other Jack Russell parents find this whole scene extremely familiar. Some, however, seem to relate more to Peppa's sibling than to the Mini JRT herself.

Just How Much Exercise Is Enough For a Jack Russell?

If you have a Jack Russell Terrier like Peppa, think less “daily walk” and more “daily workout.” These dogs are extremely high-energy and need at least 90 minutes of quality exercise every day—and not the slow, meandering kind. 

In other words, the exercise should be vigorous. Jack Russells do best with activities that actually burn energy: running, fast-paced walks, fetch, agility training, or anything that lets them sprint, chase, and stay fully engaged (sound familiar?). A couple of casual laps around the block won’t even scratch the surface.

Ideally, their exercise should be a mix of:

• high-intensity activity (running, chasing a ball, agility work)
• active play (tug, games, off-leash time in a secure space)
• mental stimulation (training, problem-solving, anything that gives them a job)

Because they were bred to hunt and work all day, dogs like Peppa have serious stamina. Without enough vigorous exercise, that energy doesn’t just disappear—it usually turns into digging, barking, or general chaos at home.

I suppose some would consider Peppa's zoomies chaotic, but we think they're perfection.

In the video, the clever content creators place a camera at the bottom of a grocery bag to capture what their cat, Pepper, looks like while inspecting new groceries. Some cats come home from the groomer looking mildly refreshed. Mario the Orange cat? He came home looking like an entirely different cat; like he just walked off the Savanna.

There are so many dogs like Penelope, sitting in shelters, waiting and hoping for their second chance—their happy ending.

When we decided to add another pup to our home, I found my soul dog, a Staffy named Franklin, who was so malnourished and defeated, he'd all but given up. In fact, shelter staff informed us that not one person asked about him or asked to see him, and it broke my heart. To this day (three-plus years later), my senior boy is thriving and happy, and he'll never be overlooked again.

It's tough to say how pets might react when someone new enters the home. Dogs, depending on the breed, may be friendly or protective of their family members. A Pennsylvania family has been reunited with their beloved dog, 40Cal (Forty for short), more than a decade after he was stolen. And yes, it’s every bit as emotional as it sounds.

The Details

Back in 2015, the family had two dogs taken from their backyard in Philadelphia. While one was eventually found, Forty was nowhere to be seen.

Days of searching turned into weeks. Weeks turned into years. Eventually, life moved forward. The family relocated, but they never forgot about Forty.

But this is where the story gets truly incredible: just two months ago, Forty's original family updated his microchip information on a hunch, even after more than a decade had passed. That small decision ended up changing everything.

A Call They Never Expected

A senior stray was brought into a local shelter, ACCT Philly, where staff did what they always do—scanned for a microchip. And just like that, Forty's story took a turn.

Because his original family had just recently updated his microchip information, the shelter was able to contact them with the news they never thought they’d hear: Forty had been found.

“I thought it was a joke," the dog's mom, Jourdyn, said in an ABC7 interview, fighting back tears. "It’s just amazing, and I can’t believe after years that he was brought back to us."

A Bittersweet Reunion

Forty-Cal isn’t the same energetic pup he once was, but that only makes the reunion more meaningful.

“He’s very old, and he’s going to go home with us and just live his best life for the rest of the time that we have with him," Jourdyn said.

It’s the kind of ending that feels both joyful and a little bittersweet. They lost a lot of time with Forty and likely will never know where he’s been all these years. But all that matters now is that he’s back where he belongs and will spend the rest of his days safe, loved and surrounded by family.

Why Microchipping Matters

If there’s one takeaway from Forty’s story, it’s this: microchipping works.

A microchip is the most reliable way to reunite lost pets with their families, but it’s only effective if the information is kept up to date.

Moves, phone number changes and email updates can all impact whether a shelter can reach you if your pet is found.

In this case, keeping that information current made all the difference. More than 11 years later, it’s what brought Forty home at last.

Dogs getting zoomies is one of the best things ever. My Corgi, Tater, usually experiences her sudden bursts of frenetic energy when Dad's home, because he's the special chosen one. It's funny to watch her lap around the house until all of a sudden, she's done (until next time)!

Franklin is a 2-pound Chihuahua made from spice, sass, and a little engine that could as he zips and zooms around the living room. The very mention of the magic word, "Mom," is enough to crank him into second and third gear, and it's quite the sight!

Pet parents know this feeling well! The relatable video shows an excited Franklin using everything he's got left in the tank, and it's all in the name of Mom! If you've never had a dog who gets the zoomies, you haven't really lived! As PetMD explains, frenetic random activity periods (FRAPs) are random and sudden bursts of energy that dogs get when they have too much energy built up or when they're stressed, excited, or just being a goofball.

No matter what age, pups of all breeds can get the zoomies. They're most likely to happen when their favorite human comes home, after bath time, or during the witching hours (5 to 8 p.m.) when it's time to release what's left of their energy storage. At least that's the stance of every French Bulldog who's ever heard their human get up in the middle of the night.

There's a very sweet TikTok where mom's trying to sneak off to the bathroom at 2 AM, and her Frenchie is having none of that. No, Sir! The caption says "He's so clingy 😂," which is putting it mildly.

French Bulldogs Are Social Dogs Who Bond Deeply and Struggle Being Apart From Their People

Here's why this little guy can't let mom pee alone at 2 AM: Speaking as someone who is currently mom to two Frenchie siblings, they are genuinely social dogs who just love being around their people. They don’t just "enjoy company"; they love it. More like "you are my entire world and I need to know where you are at all times" love it.

Frenchies are known to  bond deeply with their people. They follow you room to room. They are lap dogs who love to cuddle on the couch. They're affectionate to a degree that can definitely tip into clingy territory. Usually, this is just a sign of how attached they get rather than anything being wrong.

They can get restless when left alone for long periods of time. Being apart from their person? This is definitely not their favorite situation. Even if "apart" means you tried to go potty in private at 2 AM and they're still in bed.

That bond is real. Once a Frenchie claims you as their human, that loyalty's forever. They're gentle, easygoing dogs who adapt well to various different situations—except the situation where you're in out of their sight.

Niall Harbison continues to work tirelessly saving street dogs through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. Some canines are in such horrific medical and emotional conditions that their recovery seems almost impossible. But Harbison never gives up on any dog.

Sienna was found with serious health issues and completely shut down due to trauma. After receiving treatment and rehabilitation at the Happy Doggo sanctuary, she has a new leash on life.

Harbison previously shared that Sienna was initially afraid of human touch and suffering from “horrible skin infections and mange”. She had previously carried several litters of puppies, which further stressed her health.

With unwavering dedication from Harbison and his team, Sienna began the slow process of healing. She received medication, special baths and a special diet along with plenty of love and affection. Soon, Sienna began to blossom.

Harbison recently shared an update on Sienna and her miraculous recovery.

"Sienna’s journey started on the streets of Thailand, where she was struggling with no fur and skin covered in sores," he wrote in the caption. "We knew she needed us, but we truly had no idea just how beautiful she’d become once she healed."

Sienna Has a Forever Home

Sienna looked stunning in Harbison's recent video. Her fur grew back in a lush, beautiful golden-brown coat and she reached a healthy weight. Her entire demeanor exuded joy and contentment, where she finally felt safe and loved. Best of all, Sienna would soon join her forever family.

"She is officially a golden girl now," the story continued as Sienna enjoyed a day at the ocean with some special treats, decked out in her colorful bandana. "We took her out for some beach time and ice cream this week to celebrate her recovery. It won’t be long now until she’s off to her forever home in Wales."

Harbison praised the precious pooch for her resilience and courage, raving, "We’re so proud of you, Sienna."

What Did Researchers Find?

The researchers identified a dog by the bones found in the Pinarbasi region in Turkey. According to their findings, the bones are from a dog that people used to accompany them during hunting and gathering. And according to their DNA research, the bones are 15,800 years old.

What makes this discovery stand out is not just its age, but its clarity. Earlier finds hinted at early domestication, but this one carries genetic proof that these animals were already distinct from wolves.

In simple terms, this was not just a wolf hanging around humans. It was something closer to what we would recognize as a dog. And that difference matters. According to the study, 15,800 years ago, humans and dogs were already building a relationship strong enough to leave a genetic mark.

According to William Marsh, a postdoctoral researcher in the Ancient Genomics Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute in London who was a co-lead author of one ​of the studies, the DNA evidence suggest dog-like animals were present in western Eurasia by 18,000 years ago.

Previous studies have shown dogs have evolved from wolves, but what this study shows is when.

Dogs Were More Than Companions, They Were Partners

The study also shows something else. Dogs were not just passive companions, following humans for scraps. The evidence shows something mutual.

At that time, humans were hunter-gatherers. Life was unpredictable, often harsh. A dog that could help track prey, alert when there was danger or even provide warmth during cold nights would have been valuable.

And in return, those early dogs received something wolves never had: consistent food, protection and a place within a social group.
