This Squad of 4 Dachshunds Walks Like They’ve Got Adult Problems
Dachshunds are one of the funniest dog breeds alive because they are built like novelty items and carry themselves like middle management. They are long, low, dramatic, and permanently moving as if someone just told them there has been a scheduling error. No breed that tiny should have that much urgency in their body, and yet here they are, stomping through life like they have three meetings, a blood pressure issue, and exactly 12 minutes to fix both.
This video is that energy times four.
@oliveyoufreddieThey move like the rent is due 🐾 #busy #runway #hustle #dog #dachshund
♬ original sound - not chris olsenWe see a whole squad of Dachshunds marching through the park, all pulling tight on their leashes, moving fast with that signature little bounce that makes it look like the rent is due, the power bill is late, and someone has just texted “we need to talk.” The caption says exactly that: “They move like the rent is due 🐾.” And once you see it, you can't unsee it.
The video caption makes it even better: “Someone said that Dachshunds walk like they're late for work and now I can't unsee it.”
Correct.
Because these four aren't strolling. They're not casually enjoying a nature outing. They are commuting. There is purpose in every tiny footstep. The little synchronized urgency of it all is so absurdly specific that it stops being just “cute dog video” and becomes an entire working-class narrative.
One comment says, “Truth. It’s either 100 mph or 0 mph 🤷♀️,” and that is one of the most accurate summaries of Dachshunds I have ever seen. There's no in-between setting with these dogs. They are either racing through the world like tiny sausages with unresolved debts, or they are fully horizontal and unavailable for comment.
And honestly, I get it. My dog Lola only knows one speed, and that speed is trying to break the sound barrier on a daily basis. So I deeply respect an animal who treats every walk like the opening scene of an action movie.
This clip is simple, visual, and immediately funny. Four Dachshunds. One park path. Maximum urgency. Zero explanation. Sometimes that's all the internet really needs.
Why Dachshunds Walk So Fast on LeashDachshunds may be tiny, but they are not low-energy dogs. The AKC describes them as bold, clever, and lively, and notes that they were bred to hunt badgers, which explains a lot about that forward-pulling, no-time-to-explain attitude.
That quick, determined walk often comes from a mix of excitement, prey-drive wiring, and pure Dachshund self-importance. In other words, they are not “just walking fast.” They're pursuing a mission only they understand, and frankly, it's rude of us to question it.

Golden Retriever Has the Sweetest Reaction Whenever He Meets Little Kids
At first, it just looks like a normal meet-and-greet… a couple of little kids, a friendly dog, nothing out of the ordinary.
Then you realize this Golden Retriever is having a full emotional event about it. Like tail going nonstop, eyes locked in, entire body committed to this moment like he’s been waiting all day for it.

It’s not even subtle. It’s like he genuinely believes small humans were created specifically for him.

• “This is just too sweet.”
And honestly, that first comment feels accurate.
Because this isn’t just friendliness—it’s recognition. Like he’s met his people.
My Pomeranian, Kingston, would also follow them… but for entirely different, much louder reasons. Or because he thinks they have snacks. This is the calm, wholesome version.

• They tend to read human emotions really well.
• Physical affection is basically their favorite activity.
• They’re eager to please, which makes them more tolerant and calm.
So when they meet kids?
It’s not just excitement—it’s like a perfect match.

• Show kids how to approach slowly and calmly.
• Avoid sudden movements or loud noises around dogs.
• Teach gentle petting instead of grabbing or pulling.
• Let the dog come to them first when possible.
• Always supervise interactions, especially with younger children.
• Explain basic dog body language so they know when a pup needs space.
Moments like this are adorable… but they’re also a great reminder that good interactions go both ways.

Rare Hot Pink Hummingbird Is Pure Fairy-Tale Magic
Spring is my favorite season, as a lady who loves birds. I have several, and we have an acre of land with a whole lot of trees: it's basically bird city in my backyard. One bird I am working on finding better ways to see more of is the Hummingbird! They're my favorite.
Recently, one bird lover showed off a Hummingbird that I'd love to see, and he just turned up at her bird feeder! She was so lucky to see him, and she was kind enough to slow it down so everyone could get a look at his awesome, hot pink coloring:
@crystals.p.o.vI slowed it down so we can admire this beauty #hummingbird #bird #birdsoftiktok #backyardbirds #backyardvibes
♬ Sneaky Shenanigans - SolisCrystal's POV includes this gorgeous Hummingbird, so I need to see more of her POV at once. I never get to see Hummingbirds! This one in particular is just so cute, with his little Barbie pink head. It's really interesting, because the color changes at certain angles.
From the side, you can still see some of that purple/pink shimmer, though it looks a little darker. When he turns toward the camera, though, wow! This is Barbie's dreamhouse, but on a bird.

Though it's a little hard to tell what kind of Hummingbird this is from the video alone, it looks like it could be an Anna's Hummingbird.
While the species isn't uncommon at all, seeing one with an entirely pink head is definitely a rare treat! If that's not enough, though, there are other Hummingbirds who love to visit her garden:

♬ Art of Now (Nature Sounds) - Dennis KornShe has several of the cutest Hummingbird feeders ever in her garden, where she also has a bunch of beautiful flowers. No wonder the Hummingbirds love it there!
Where Are Anna's Hummingbirds Most Common? If you want to try to find a Hummingbird who has an entirely pink head, too, looking out for a mature Anna's Hummingbird is the way to go. Typically, they just have little patches of pink/orange/red on their throats.

Anna's Hummingbirds are found along the Pacific Coast, and they're easiest to spot in the springtime. They're a mid-sized Hummingbird, and they're most attracted to:
- Red flowers.
- High-producing nectar flowers, like Jasmine.
- Certain types of berry plants, like gooseberries and red currants.
You can also go the typical "feeder" route with a nectar mixture inside, but if you can swing it, having some natural flowers as well will help your chances. Having a mix of both is great, too!

Attract Painted Buntings to Your Yard with Amazon's Highly-Rated Bird Feeder & Seed
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
It's the most wonderful time of year — the season for beautiful painted buntings! If you live in the right part of the country, then you've no doubt been seeing friends and strangers post on social media about all the gorgeous painted buntings in their yard. (I know I've been seeing a lot of posts.) If you want to improve your chances of attracting these beautiful flying rainbows, then we've got the details for you right here on the best seed and feeders.
First, here's a quick rundown of what to get, followed by more details below.
- Pennington Pride Wild Finch Blend Wild Bird Seed for $16 on Amazon
- Backup option: Cole's MI20 White Millet Bird Seed, 20 Pound for $46 on Amazon
- Kingsyard Cage Bird Feeder with Tray for $28 on Amazon
- Backup: Wild Wings Cedar Hanging Tray for $17 on Amazon
Painted Buntings are beautiful rainbow-colored birds. They're medium-sized, and the males are so vibrant with their bright blue heads and multiple shades of red, orange, green, and yellow feathers. The females are a more subtle green-yellow color.
If you want Painted Buntings, first make sure they visit your region. They are seen most commonly in the south-central U.S., typically from North Carolina to central Florida along the Atlantic coast. But they do travel west from there too (as I've been hearing of lots of sightings in Texas recently.)
According to The Helpful Birder, the best way to attract painted buntings is by supplying them with their favorite food: white millet seeds (also called white proso millet.) But because so many larger birds also like this seed (and they may scare off little buntings), it's a good idea to provide them with a caged feeder if you can. These are simply feeders made for smaller songbirds. They're basically a cage that enclosed a tube or dish that holds seed inside. The wires of the cage let songbirds fit through, but larger birds and other predators can't.
Now here are some great options you can get from Amazon, based on your budget.
Kingsyard Cage Bird Feeder with Tray for $28 on AmazonCourtesy of Amazon
Shop it!This cage bird feeder is made for bluebirds, and since they're a little bigger than buntings, your target bird will definitely fit. It comes in Brown, Blue or Green and is designed to be squirrel resistant and easy to refill and clean. It's made of durable metal material and great for year-round use. The bottom tray can be filled with seeds, and the tray has drainage holes in case it rains.
This has a 4.4 out of 5-star rating on Amazon. One buyer writes, "Great sturdy feeder. Birds love it. Brings all the bluebirds just ad meal worms for them! Holds a day or 2 worth of sunflower seeds or meal worms. Easy to fill and clean."
Wild Wings Cedar Hanging Tray for $17 on AmazonCourtesy of Amazon
Shop the cedar feeder! If you don't have the budget for a caged feeder, this hanging tray is an excellent alternative. In fact, two reviewers specifically mention that it attracted Painted Buntings!
One buyer writes, "This morning I looked out my window and 4 Painted buntings were all sitting around the edge of tray feasting! This really is a bird attaching magnet!"
Another writes, "I love this bird feeder. We get cardinals, titmouse, painted buntings and doves to the feeder."
It's a simple but effective feeder that measure 10x10 inches. It's easy to fill and clean and accommodates birds of all sizes. It also has rain drainage to keep seeds dry, and is made of durable material.
Pennington Pride Wild Finch Blend Wild Bird Seed for $16 on AmazonCourtesy of Amazon
Shop the seed!I'm recommending this Pennington blend because the first seed on the list of ingredients is "white proso millet seeds," followed by other types, along with vitamin supplements and more. If you're looking for a less expensive bird seed with buntings' favorite food, then this would be a great start.
Cole's MI20 White Millet Bird Seed, 20 Pound for $46 on AmazonCourtesy of Amazon
Shop the white millet seed!If your budget's a little bigger, consider this one. The only ingredient is white proso millet, a bunting's favorite food. It comes out to $2.30 a pound, which is less than $1 more per pound than the seed listed above. So if you have the budget, you might want to try this one!
The Bottom LinePainted Buntings love white millet seed. And the two feeders recommended above are ones either designed specifically for birds their size, or known to attract buntings by other birders. If you're wanting these beautiful rainbow-hued birds in your yard, then give these options a try!

Feral Cat Refuses to Return to the Wild After Falling in Love With Her Rescuer
Feral cats do not get enough love. While they can be dangerous at times, and approaching them should only be done by people with experience (for everyone's safety), these cats deserve happy, healthy lives just like any other cat in the world!
One feral cat was going to find a way to have the happy life she wanted, no matter what. She was picked up by a kind community worker volunteering with a TNVR program... Only the "R" part was really not her jam:
@sew_catty#tnr #spayandneuter #catsoftiktok
♬ original sound - The Simple LifeAngela has dealt with a lot of feral cats in her time, but this particular case was a rarity. Most of the time, these cats can't wait to get back to their lives on the streets. They're not used to life with humans. They don't want to be with us.
When it came to this cat, though, things were a lot different. She just wouldn't quit, even after her meds had worn off. It was time for her to go home, or back to the lack thereof, but she just... Couldn't. She didn't want to leave her favorite human behind.

What was Angela supposed to do, just shove this sweet baby back out into the wild, kicking and screaming? No way! Naturally, she decided to keep this sweet girl safe in the way that's most comfortable for her. She's chilling in the backyard:
@sew_cattyReplying to @malissachicago #catsoftiktok #communitycats
♬ Fairytale (From "Shrek") - Geek MusicI really like that she's not forcing the cat to come inside before she's ready. She keeps her in her yard, so she can feed and care for her, and so far, the kitty has stayed put! Eventually, she might come inside, but it's not time for that just yet.
TNVR Is Life-Saving For CatsTNVR stands for Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Release (or Return, depending on who you ask). The last part is the one the cat in these videos wasn't fond of. She's a lady in love! She doesn't want to go back out on the street!
Feral kittens eating together.Image via Shutterstock / Natalia de la Rubia
There are organizations all over the world that focus on TNVR, and for good reason. It's unrealistic to think you could find a home (or even shelter space) for every feral cat, but TNVR helps:
- Prevent pregnancy and population growth.
- Quell aggression, since neutered cats are often a little more docile.
- Stop the spread of diseases.
Most of the time, it goes very smoothly. This time, though... Not so much. That's her cat now!

Beggin' Just Named Every Dog a Winner in This Hilarious New U.S. Soccer Contest
With the World Cup on the horizon, the "sports pet" trend is exploding. We recently saw Adidas launch a dedicated World Cup pet jersey collection, and now, another major brand is trying to use the World Cup for branding.
Beggin' has officially teamed up with U.S. Soccer to become the organization's official dog treat, and they are celebrating with a contest where "participation trophies" are actually worth something.

While many contests have a catch, this one seems straightforward. Every single dog that joins gets free treats. That would surely make our furry companions happy, right?
Simple Idea, Happy DogsCourtesy Purina
Beggin' has a straightforward idea. They are building what they call the ultimate roster of dogs, inspired by a soccer starting lineup.
For the contest, the brand launched a Crest Bacon Flavor Dog Treats, shaped like the team crest. They are made with real bacon as the main ingredient.

How Can You ParticipateCourtesy Purina
The process is simple and requires almost zero effort. All you have to do is head to the Beggin' XI Contest Page, upload a photo of your dog, and submit a short description of your dog. The contest lasts until May 17. After that, the company will choose eleven finalists to create the official Beggin' XI lineup. The public voting will determine the winner.
The winner will get a once-in-a-lifetime flyaway experience to a U.S. Soccer match this summer during the World Cup. And a team prize box to enjoy while watching the game.
The company encourages pet parents to write as witty and as fun information as they can. The goal is to identify what makes your dog feel soccer-worthy. Some great photo ideas include goofy expressions, action shots, or a face that looks like it belongs on the field.
Here is the best part: even dogs that will not make the final roster will walk away with free treats. That makes this contest feel less competitive and more like a nationwide excuse to show off your dog online and score some free treats.
Even Celebrities Are Part of ItFamous actor Brendan Hunt, best known for Ted Lasso, is hosting the campaign.
He says the contest is "the crossover event I didn't know I needed." So, are you ready to put your dog in a fun and creative campaign?
We treat our dogs like part of the family. Beggin' gives them jerseys and positions. This is one soccer game where there are no losers. Every dog is a winner.

This Chihuahua and Dachshund Duo Are Served a Puppy 'Pawella'—and It's Just Adorable
If you're hungry, get ready to feel even hungrier. This dog parent has prepared a delicious, home-cooked meal for her dogs, Cedric and Edith, a dachshund and a Chihuahua mix. The meal is a puppy "pawella." An adapted meal for puppies inspired by the traditional Spanish dish, paella, which is typically prepared in a wide, shallow pan, featuring rice, vegetables, and various types of protein, such as chicken and seafood.
In the video, Cedric and Edith patiently wait as their food is prepared — they even make time for a quick nap while the meal cooks. Adorable, right?

Cedric and Edith's mother starts by seasoning the chicken and shrimp with turmeric and beet powder. First, she adds the chicken to the pan and, once it's cooked, adds it to a plate. Then she repeats the process with the shrimp. Once the chicken and shrimp are cooked, she uses the same pan to sauté sliced bell peppers, rice, and riced cauliflower, adding water to the mixture. Finally, she adds the cooked chicken and seasons the ingredients with "doggy nutrients."

While she brings the mixture to a boil, the puppies are served strawberry "pawgria," inspired by the Spanish and Portuguese sangria. The original recipe calls for red wine and chopped fruit, but for Cedric and Edith, their mother served a dog-appropriate recipe: beet, coconut water and strawberry. They even had their drink in a little wine glass—how cute is that? And Cedric seemed to love the recipe because when he finished his drink, he even had some of Edith's glass. Sharing is caring!
When the ingredients are ready, Cedric and Edith's mother garnishes the pan with the cooked shrimp and mussels. She closes the pan to finish cooking the meal, then sprinkles basil on the dish. The puppies are then served on a little plate, appropriate for their size.
The Dog's Table CookbookCedric and Edith's mother, Joelle Jay, is a musician, designer, author, and content creator. On YouTube, her channel @itsthecedlife has over 200,000 subscribers, and she posts videos about her puppies' nutrition and the elaborate, delicious meals she cooks for them. Alongside R.A. Young, a technologist, researcher, author and content creator, she wrote The Dog's Table, a cookbook with over 120 home-cooked recipes for dogs.
The recipes are balanced and healthy for dogs, and are all approved by Cedric and Edith. Given their refined taste, we can assume these recipes are incredible.

Sneaky Golden Retriever Tries to Scam Stranger Into Buying Him a Cookie
Our canines can be quite convincing when they want something. They give us those sweet eyes and heart-melting expressions to sweet-talk us into an extra treat or more time outside — and it usually works. Some fur babies are master manipulators when they have a specific objective.
Charlie the Golden Retriever seems to be an expert at this practice. The gorgeous Golden spotted his mark in a local café and worked his magic to get another bakery item.
@laurenandcodyHe sees a kind stranger and the performance begins
♬ original sound - Lauren and CharlieIn the TikTok from @laurenandcody, Charlie approached a young man sitting in a local coffee shop and showed off his sweet personality. Yet the clever canine was up to something.
"POV Your Golden Retriever manipulates a random kind man into buying him his third cookie of the day," the onscreen text explained.
The man smiled at Charlie and seemed unaware that there was a con job at play.
"He wants to see if he could try to get you to get him a cookie because he knows I'm done now," Charlie's mom warned, telling her pup, "No, you already had two!"
The young man stood up, so Charlie took another shot at getting that cookie. The fur baby poured on the charm with his tail in full wag mode, hoping the customer would cave. Though Charlie's mom revealed the dog's motive, the nice man found Charlie's methods quite amusing and bought him a cookie.
"How does he do this?" his mom asked, bewildered. "He convinces everyone. He's so manipulative."
She thanked the generous cookie giver profusely as he gave Charlie his beloved treat. "That's so nice of you," she remarked.
Followers admitted that they would've fallen for Charlie's tactics as well.
"Who could resist that face?!" one wrote.
"Not gonna lie, I'd probably empty my pockets if I was there," another remarked.
"He is smart — I would buy him a cookie,' someone revealed.
Can Dogs Manipulate Humans? Our dogs most likely know exactly what they're doing when they give us those big, pleading eyes and soft whine that goes straight to the heart. Fur babies tend to lay it on extra thick with that look and those whimpers when we're eating or they want to go outside.

Why do they do it? Because it works! And they know it. So yes, dogs can totally manipulate humans to do certain things for them, but we're the ones who fall for it every time. Yet in the big scheme of things, it's totally worth it to see them so happy.

Sweet Cat Trying to ‘Pet the Baby’ Just Won’t Quit
Bringing home a baby is hard and scary for a million reasons, but for people who also have pets, one of the biggest reasons is our furry friends. You just have no idea if things will go well or not, and they're the two beings you love most in this world!
Luckily, one new family has had exceptional luck with getting their cat and their baby to bond. Honestly, it might be going too well. The cat will not stop trying to pet the baby:
@aeiou682Literally had been home for less than an hour before being turned into a bop it by her fur brother 👊🏻 @sverdlin kitties #newborn #catsoftiktok #babygirl #bopit #trending

He's being gentle about it, which is good: this baby is probably not even a week old yet. Getting hit with a cat paw would really hurt! Amy only lets him near the baby under supervision, though, just to make sure things don't go wrong.

Though this is the first baby the cat has encountered, he's been a big brother for a while. There are a couple of other cats in the house, and evidently, he wasn't this nice to them when they were babies:
@aeiou682They’ll be friends one day #catsoftiktok #kittensoftiktok #wicked @Yori Sverdlin
♬ What Is This Feeling? - Ariana Grande & Cynthia ErivoThe reason for that is pretty simple: human babies don't hit back. Kittens hit back. Hopefully, they get along better now that there's a baby in the mix!
Cats Can Be Gentle With BabiesThere are typically two types of cat/baby introductions that go viral: really sweet ones and really spicy ones. There are also a lot of cats who fall somewhere in the middle, though those aren't typically as easy to find.

If you want your cat to be gentle when they meet your baby, you need to be extremely cautious and on top of the entire situation at all times. The key is to prevent:
- Accidents.
- Aggression.
- Fear.
One of the biggest risks in this situation is that your cat will get too close or move too fast or something, which will freak you out. You'll yell, or swat, or shove the cat, purely out of instinct, and that could legitimately sour the relationship forever. Keep them separated by at least a few feet of space, just to be safe!

He Saved a Belgian Malinois From California Traffic, but a Health Diagnosis Has Him Torn
Some promises are easy to keep. "I'll never eat gas station sushi again." "I'm going to the gym on Monday." But one man in Bellflower, Calif., made a promise that felt foolproof until it wasn't. He promised himself not to get another dog unless one found him.
He'd had a German shepherd for 13 years. When that dog died, the grief didn't leave room for another. So he drew a line and meant it.

Then, on the drive home from work, a Belgian Malinois came sprinting through traffic. He watched her weave between cars, close enough to get clipped, and pulled over. Thirty minutes later, he finally caught her. He posted the Ring camera footage to track down the owner, took her to the vet, and checked for a chip.
There was nothing more than a young dog with nowhere to go, and a man who was trying to keep his promise. She found him. The question now is whether he keeps her.
What Happens Next?He shared his thoughts with the Reddit community. As he explained in the comments, he was secretly hoping that an older, sleepy little couch companion would find him. But it turns out, he got a young, high-energy breed.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma on Thanksgiving Day. He explained that he has two more treatments, but the scans are looking good right now.
His biggest dilemma is what happens if he gets sick in the future? Comments filled quickly, and many people thought the same thing: this didn't feel random.
One commenter said, "She found you." Another added, "Sometimes dogs come into our life for a job and that job can include healing."
Related: A Rare K-9 Emergency Just Led to a First-of-Its-Kind Moment in the Sky
A Gift of Healing?Sometimes, one single moment can change your whole day. For this guy, that moment was finding a young girl on the road.
At first, he panicked, as the dog was weaving near cars, close enough that her life was in danger. There's something darkly funny about the universe sending a Belgian Malinois to someone who secretly hoped to get a lazy dog.
The dilemma is hard to answer: Do you keep the dog that chose you, even if the timing feels impossible?
Rescue dogs have a strange way of giving people purpose back. As one commenter said, "That dog could be your best friend in a year's time."
Taking Care of a High-Energy DogBelgian Malinois are some of the most active dogs in the canine kingdom. Brilliant and intense, these athletic dogs thrive on structure and purpose.
Knowing what is ahead, the guy is torn between the two options. Should he accept the risk, knowing that he might get sicker, or try to find her a new home?
Taking care of a high-energy dog like the Belgian Malinois requires plenty of time, effort, and patience. These dogs need mental stimulation as much as physical activity. Some activities that help tire them out include active games like fetch, tug of war and flirt poles or mental stimulation activities like agility training.
And they make some of the best companions for hiking, jogging and running.

Raw Chicken Dog Food Sold Nationwide Is Being Recalled for a Potentially Deadly Reason—Here's What to Know
Just like what foods we put in our own bodies is important, what our pets eat has a major impact on their health too. And no matter how diligent you are in sourcing only the finest, most natural ingredients, there’s always a chance something can slip through the cracks due to mass production and general human error.
That said, pet parents are being asked to practice caution as a popular pet food brand voluntarily recalls a number of its raw chicken dog food products. Citing contamination concerns involving a potentially deadly bacteria, Albright’s Raw Pet Food has identified a single lot of its Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced meals as potentially at risk, and the company is encouraging shoppers to refrain from feeding it to their pets.

Dog Owners Warned After Raw Chicken Pet Food Tests Positive for Salmonella Albright's Raw Pet Food – Chicken Recipe for Dogs Compete and Balanced FormulaFDA / Albright's Raw Pet Food
The products being recalled are sold as frozen 1-pound bricks in clear vacuum packaging and distributed in 30-pound cases. The recall follows routine sampling conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), during which product samples were tested for Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli.
One lot tested positive for Salmonella in a composite sample. The contaminated lot was identified as the below:
- Brand: Albright's Raw Pet Food Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced Formula
- Size: 1-pound pouch distributed in a 30-pound case
- Best Buy/Expiration: 28-Apr-27
- Lot Code: C001730
The at-risk products were distributed directly to consumers nationwide and to a small number of retailers in Massachusetts, California, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin and New York, as well as through direct online sales. At the moment, no illnesses linked to the recall have been reported, though the investigation is still ongoing in conjunction with the FDA.

What Exactly Is Salmonella?Salmonella is a potentially dangerous bacteria that can cause illness in pets and can even be transmitted to humans. Pets infected with Salmonella may show signs of lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain, though some dogs may show no symptoms at all. Even asymptomatic pets can still shed Salmonella through their feces and saliva, potentially spreading it to people or other animals.
If your pet has consumed a product infected with Salmonella and starts showing symptoms, it’s encouraged that you contact your veterinarian immediately. That said, humans are just as much at risk, as Salmonella can be contracted through handling contaminated pet food, touching infected pets or simply coming into contact with contaminated surfaces like bowls, utensils and countertops. If you begin experiencing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, it’s recommended that you contact a healthcare provider immediately.

Deaf Cat's Adorable 'Pokémon Greeting Ritual' for Mom Is Melting Hearts
Coming home to a happy pet is one of the best feelings in the world. Whether it's a tail-wagging, happy-hopping reaction from dogs or a cute trilling from cats, their love for us is unrivaled.
Otter may be deaf, but this Black Cat has his own special way of showing Mom the love. He doesn't need the ability to hear to give Mom the sweetest "hellllooo" because his unique Pokémon greeting is total cuteness overload as it is.

Hundreds of Otters fans chimed in to give him some love, with many of them noting how precious his little trills are—and I 100% agree! It's one of the cutest sounds a gentlemanly, polite cat like Otter can make, and yet, somehow, he makes the trill even better!
The rescue cat left an imprint on the world the moment Mom started sharing his journey, and I think much of it has to do with the variety of sounds he makes when he realizes Mom's beside him. Take a listen to this throwback clip, volume way up, and try not to fall in love.

♬ original sound - goose, otter & lettuce How To Communicate With a Deaf CatCommunicating with a deaf kitty takes slightly more care than that of a feline with full use of their hearing, so as not to startle them.
They're smart, which means you can train them to learn sign language through hand signals for the basics (eat, come, etc.). While teaching, practice gentle stomps to create vibrations on the floor—or tap a nearby table or chair—so they know you're there.
Flashlights and laser pointers can grab their attention, but you can also turn on a light switch every time you enter the room, but make sure to approach them from the front. Touch and scent go a long way and help your deaf kitty recognize when you're in their vicinity. Bonus: All of these things help strengthen the bond between the two of you.
I can't imagine anything better than a cat like Otter greeting me each day. He's a special boy and Mom's one lucky gal!

Great Dane Puppy’s Paws Are Already Bigger Than Some Dogs’ Heads
Great Danes are some of my favorite dogs to admire from afar, and up close whenever I get the chance, though it's pretty rare. I could never have one of them in my own home, but I'll be dreaming about it forever!
The puppy stage for Great Danes is especially cute. They have such huge paws, and absolutely no idea what to do with them most of the time. Right now, one of these pups is only a few months old, but his paws are the size of some other dogs' heads!

- Huge paws.
- Floppy, massive ears.
- Big lip flaps.
He's only going to get bigger from here, and that means he's going to get even more awkward. There will be many more months where his paws are bigger than they need to be! I bet his little stumbles are so cute!

Whelen is such a puppy right now. Nothing can ever be easy, which is tough for everyone, but I feel like it's probably a little harder when your 4-month-old puppy is the size of a small horse. He's recently discovered every puppy's worse nemesis:

Why Do Great Danes Have Such Huge Paws?Great Danes are famous for being huge, and one of everybody's favorite features of the breed is their paws! They're massive, and even when they outgrow their puppy phase, their paws stay a little floppy.

Great Danes need to have big paws to support their bodyweight. Though they look lean, these dogs can easily weigh 150 pounds or better. If they had smaller paws, they wouldn't be able to keep themselves up. However, these paws also often lead to:
- Stumbling.
- Tripping.
- Very loud walking/stomping.
For the most part, Great Danes prefer to walk at a slower pace. It helps them make sure they're not going to trip and tumble... Though tripping and tumbling is all part of puppyhood. I bet Whelen is great at it!

Dog Finds a Tiny Stray Kitten and Immediately Starts Caring for Her
At first, it just looks like a sweet dog being curious… and then you realize she’s not just interested—she’s taken responsibility.
Because this isn’t a quick sniff-and-walk-away situation. This is a full “this is mine now” decision, and Luna has already committed.

And yes, that part is real.
A Vet Tech Chimed in To Explain:• Dogs can sometimes produce milk without ever giving birth.
• This is something that does happen in practice.
• As long as the kitten is being properly fed and gaining weight, it can be safe.
• Having a warm “fur mama” can be incredibly comforting for a young kitten.
So while it looks surprising… It’s not unheard of.

• “Finders, keepers.”
• “That’s her daughter. No one can tell her differently.”
• “The cat distribution system doesn’t only apply to humans.”
• “Sometimes the true mother isn’t the one who carried her, but the one who loved her.”
And honestly… that last one lands.
Because this doesn’t feel like confusion. It feels like instinct.

What To Do If You Find a Stray Kitten @neg0278Replying to @Elizabethalonso566 Day 3 update still loving on her baby
♬ original sound - NgMoments like this are sweet, but there are a few important things to keep in mind.
• Check if the kitten is truly abandoned—mom cats sometimes leave temporarily.
• Keep the kitten warm and safe, especially if the kitty is very young.
• Contact a local rescue or veterinarian for guidance.
• Bottle-feeding may be necessary if the kitten is too young.
• Introduce other pets slowly and supervise them closely.
• Monitor weight and health to ensure the kitten is thriving.
Even when animals step in like Luna did, human support still matters.
But having a protective, gentle dog in the mix?
That doesn’t hurt.

Indian Ringneck Parrot Asks Baby Brother for Kisses—and It's Too Sweet To Miss
I've always been a supporter of getting your pet a pet so they have someone to hang out with, play with, and love when we're not around. Some fur companions would make the best little buddy to any newcomers. You can tell by how affectionate and sweet they are that they might benefit from a sibling.
That's exactly what Boo got, and as an Indian Ringneck Parrot with a heart of gold, he wasted no time showering his new baby brother, Bowser, with all the compliments, kisses, and excited banter.

♬ original sound - Danielle Why Parrots Mimic Human BehaviorsParrots may not fully understand the context of our language, but they're smart enough to learn meaning through association. Mimicking is one way they bond with and become part of their flock, and that includes their humans! In the wild, they'll use a variety of vocalizations to form connections and socialize, and domesticated Parrots do the same through mimicking their humans for the same reasons.
As some of the smartest birds around, repeating words, phrases, and sounds is a great way to get attention or engage in interaction. Parrots adapt through mimicry for a few reasons, but mainly because these little rascals are vocal learners who think it's fun! It can also help with learning routines and adapting to a new environment, but communicating this way is another reason these special birds are so impressive.
Boo clearly learned these sweet words from listening to his humans, and now he gets to use them in his new, adorable role as big brother. There's nothing more precious than that!

Rare ‘Orange Creamsicle’ Ragdoll Looks Like He’s Made of Sweet Dreams
When you think of a Ragdoll cat, you're probably thinking of a creamy white and brown cat, typically with stunning blue eyes. Those cats are definitely the ones to beat: they're so pretty!
Recently, though, another Ragdoll came in and is giving the originals a run for their money. He's fluffy and wide-eyed, just like a regular Ragdoll, but... He's orange! You rarely see this kind of coat color on these cats, which makes him so stunning:

Mink Ragdolls are often:
- Less fluffy than Ragdoll cats/their fur is shorter.
- Different (solid) colors, like orange, brown, or lilac.
- Not blue-eyed: their eyes can be green, amber, gold, or any other color.
These cats have been the cause of some debate in the cat community, since standard Ragdolls all have a few iconic looks and features about them. No matter what, though, they're so beautiful!

This Miniature Dachshund 'Turns Into a Cow' the Second He Hears the 'Happy Birthday' Song
Dogs have big personalities and all kinds of strange quirks. Some dogs howl at sirens and others bark at the doorbell. Apple the miniature Dachshund, she transforms into a full-blown cow the instant anyone starts singing "Happy Birthday."
Not a demure cow. Not a gentle cow. A cow who has opinions and wants to be heard.
His mouth opens. And what emerges is not a bark, not a howl, but a MOO so powerful it could register on the Richter scale.
@appletheminidappleSausage dog or cow? You decide! #sausagedog #sausagedogsoftiktok #dachshund #dachshundlove #dachshundaddict
♬ original sound - Appletheminidapple"MOOOOOOO."
The text overlay explains the situation: "POV: You accidentally trained your dog to make cow noises whenever anyone sings 'Happy Birthday!'"
Accidentally. Which means this wasn't planned at all. Apple's humans didn't sit down and think "let's teach our Dachshund to moo like a cow." It just happened… organically. And now they're living with the consequences every single birthday.
The caption asks: "Sausage dog or cow? You decide!"
The comments had thoughts—mostly about cows and sausage:
"He was a cow in his past life and a dinosaur in the one before that 😭😂"
"That's a powerful MOO."
"He got that cow in him."
Related: Dachshund Mix Is So Excited for Walks, He Jumps Just Like a Kangaroo
"I did not expect that level of moo! Amazing!"
"Wdym? That is a baby cow."
"Beef sausage."
"It's a sausage cow 😂"
"Could we get a step-by-step tutorial, please?"
That "beef sausage" comment is criminally and hilariously underrated. Also, whoever asked for a tutorial? Solid question that we all want to know the answer to. Because how exactly does one accidentally train a Dachshund to channel his inner Holstein?
For all intents and purposes, the running theory in the comments suggests reincarnation from the once great state of cow. Apple was definitely a cow in a past life, possibly a T-Rex before that. Now, he's living his best life as a tiny sausage-shaped dog, but every time "Happy Birthday" plays, his inner cow soul is awakened.
Why Dogs Try to Join the Family ConversationHere's what's actually happening when Apple unleashes his inner bovine: he's just trying to be in the thick of it—part of this special family moment.
According to research by animal behaviorist Patricia McConnell, dogs see their humans as family members in a very real, attachment-based way. Studies show dogs display "secure base behavior"—meaning they're more comfortable exploring and interacting with their environment when their humans are present to supervise. That’s safety and security.
But this behavior goes much deeper than just feeling safe. Dogs actively want to participate in family activities. When everyone gathers together, having a good time and starts singing—which is a communal, emotional event—dogs often feel the need to join in the family fun.
🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾
Think about it like this: "Happy Birthday" is when the whole pack comes together, makes noise as a group, and celebrates the milestone. Dogs are pack animals. Group vocalizations are a big part of how dogs bond and communicate. So, when Apple hears everyone singing, his instinct says "I should be a part of this too!"
The fact that he chose to MOO instead of howl? That’s the head scratcher. That's the ‘accidental training’ part. Somewhere along the way, Apple tried to sing along and made that mooing noise during a birthday celebration.
Maybe people laughed and thought it was cute. Maybe that immediately got him the attention he wanted. Perhaps someone even said, "Good boy!" And now Apple's brain has permanently linked "Happy Birthday" with "time to sound like a cow."
Dogs are social creatures who genuinely see themselves as part of the family and consider you part of their pack. They don't want to sit on the sidelines during important family events. They want to celebrate too.
Apple's not being a weirdo—he's being part of the family. In his own, extremely bovine way.
So yes, Apple is technically a sausage dog. But in his heart? He's definitely a grade-A sausage cow. And every single birthday celebration is his chance to prove it.
Pit Bull Sisters Try Using New Doggy Door and It's Not Going Smoothly
Doggy doors provide easy access to the outdoors for canines and convenience for their parents, who get relieved of door duty. While these floor-level flaps give some fun-loving fur babies a taste of freedom, other pooches find the contraption a bit challenging to navigate.
Cocoa, Bean, and Toast are three Pit Bull sisters who recently received a doggy door so they could go in and out as they pleased, yet figuring out how to actually use it wasn't easy.
View this post on InstagramIn the Instagram video from @thechonkettes, the pretty Pitties waited patiently in the living room until they were allowed to try out the new doggy door. Cocoa and Toast gave it a shot, but didn't know where to place their paws when going from indoors to outdoors. The look of confusion on the canines' faces communicated they were a little lost.
Bean came over to check things out and lend a paw, but she had no idea how to help and just sniffed the area for more information.
At one point, the female fur babies just went back to lying on the floor in surrender, feeling discouraged about the failed attempts. The frustration was palpable.
"I was so excited for the girls to use our new dog door — they do not share my enthusiasm," the caption noted, along with several modifications that were implemented to assist the precious pooches with the transition. "We taped up the flaps. We removed the flaps. I crawled through on my elbows. I tried to lure them out with pizza."
Despite the strong effort, the three sisters still couldn't cross over into the outdoors. "At this point, I think they'd rather pee inside," the story concluded. "We'll try again later."
Tips to Help Your Dog Use a Doggy DoorThere are some practical ways to acclimate your dog to this new way of entering and exiting your home. Tips include:
- Familiarize your dog with the door by letting them smell it, opening and closing the flap in front of them, and putting your hand through it so they see it's not dangerous.
- Coax your dog through the door by staying on the other side and cheering them on.
- Use positive reinforcement with lots of treats and praise.
- Practice several times a day and make the door a part of your daily routine.

The more your dog is exposed to the doggy door and its function, the less intimidated they'll be. Lots of practice, patience, and praise go a long way to help your fur baby figure it out. These Pittie sisters just need a little time before they'll be cruising through the door on their own.

7 Signs You’re Your Dog’s Favorite Human
If you’ve ever wondered whether your dog has a clear “favorite human” in your house, you’re not alone. Many pet owners notice subtle changes in dog behavior—some almost impossible to explain—when it comes to how their dog interacts with different people. Pet experts say canines often form strong attachments to those they love and those preferences can show up in everyday habits, routines and reactions. But how can you really tell where you stand? To find out, we gathered 7 signs you're your dog's number one human, according to a trainer.
From the way your dog follows you from room to room to how they respond when you walk through the door, there are small but meaningful clues that may reveal a deeper bond. Understanding the signs your dog prefers you or how dogs choose their favorite person can offer surprising insight into your relationship—and what your dog might be trying to communicate without words.
So, why do dogs pick a favorite human? "To your dog, you’ve become both their safe place and a source of joy," says Alexandra Bassett, the founder and head trainer at Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training. "Through consistent routines, positive experiences and shared moments, you’ve become a steady source of comfort, predictability and joy. In your dog’s world, that’s everything."
Read on to find out signs your dog loves you the most and how to tell if your dog has a favorite human or not!

If you've ever wondered, "Why does my dog prefer one person over others?" you're not the only dog mom or dad that's had that question cross their mind. Bassett explains that the most special part of being a dog's favorite person and having that special bond is that your dog didn't choose you as their go-to person out of obligation, politeness or social pressure. "If you're your dog's favorite person, that preferences was earned," Bassett says.
Bassett notes that meeting your dog's basic needs for food, water, exercise and shelter lays the foundation. "Becoming a dog's favorite person goes a step further. It’s built through training, play, and enrichment, which provide a dog with much-needed mental stimulation, life skills and joy," she shares.
Therefore, if you do all of the above, you may start to notice many signs that you're your dog's go-to human.
7 Signs You’re Your Dog’s Favorite HumanDogs don’t always show affection in obvious ways, but trainers say there are clear signs your dog likes you over others in your household. From subtle changes in behavior to everyday routines, these patterns can reveal how dogs choose their favorite human and form strong emotional attachments.
1. They choose to sleep with youOne of the clearest signs your dog prefers you over others is where they choose to sleep. Some people assume their dog sleeping near or on them is just about warmth or routine, but trainers say it goes far beyond that. As Bassett explains, this behavior is “deeper than people think” and often points to strong dog bonding behavior and emotional attachment.
“Sleep is when dogs are most vulnerable,” Bassett says. “Choosing to sleep near—or on—you signals trust in your presence, comfort with your proximity, and a sense of physical and emotional safety.”
2. They choose to cuddle with youAnother one of the signs your dog loves you most that you can look out for is cuddling behavior. Pet owners often assume dogs are cuddly creatures, but Bassett says that's untrue. "Not all dogs are naturally cuddly, so when they seek it out, that matters," Bassett says. "Voluntary affection—especially when they’re not cold, not tired and not prompted—means your dog associates you with comfort, relaxation, safety, positive touch and affection."
Therefore, they make an active choice to cuddle with you rather than tolerate affection. When your dog does this, they’re signaling they feel connected to you and that you are their whole world.
3. They “check in” with youOne strong sign your dog prefers you over others is when they regularly “check in” with you during everyday activities. Bassett says this one is more than a telltale sign you're your dog's number one human. "It's one of the clearest signs of behavioral attachment," she says. "When your dog looks back at you during walks, circles back while playing, pauses mid-exploration to orient to you, they’re essentially saying, 'You’re still my reference point.'"
Bassett says these check-ins come from a history of strong engagement, secure attachment and positive reinforcement. "In training terms, you’re not just present—you’re relevant, even when the environment is exciting because you are your dog’s home base," Bassett says.
Related: Experts Name the No. 1 Companion Dog: A ‘Highly Intuitive, Sensitive Breed’
4. They initiate play with youOne of the more overlooked signs your dog is obsessed with you is when they consistently initiate play with you. "Many dogs are selective about who they invite into it," Bassett reports. "When your dog brings you toys, offers you a play bow and wants to chase or be chased by you, they’re expressing trust because play requires vulnerability and cooperation."
Because of this, this is an easy way to see if your dog shows favoritism to one person over another.
Additionally, when your dog does this, they are letting you know they associate you with something positive and fun. "It also means they see you as an active participant, not just background noise in their environment," Bassett notes.
5. They wait by the door/windowWhen it comes to dog bonding signs and dog emotional attachment signs, seeing them waiting for you by the window is one.
In fact, if your dog perks up at specific sounds, like your footsteps, or strategically places themselves by the door or window, Bassett says this behavior isn't just a routine. "It's emotional attachment," she says. "They’re not just noticing patterns they’re looking forward to your return. That is true devotion in action."
6. They lick your face (without a food context)Does your dog have a favorite person? They might! This sign is one trainers say show you're your dog's number one person. Though, sometimes it is often misunderstood and written off as them thinking they are "licking food off your face."
"Affiliative licking is a natural social bonding behavior," Bassett reveals. "When it’s not about leftover food, it signals social connection, deference and emotional closeness."
Bassett says this behavior starts in puppyhood. "Dogs would lick caregivers to greet them and elicit attention, which is why it often shows up most strongly toward their primary person," Bassett says. "Face-licking is your dog’s way of saying, 'I love you,' and checking in on your mood. It’s like a furry little hug and mood boost rolled into one."
7. Their reunion behavior is intense and investigativeThe way your dog greets you after time apart can reveal a lot about your bond. If you’ve ever wondered about how dogs choose their favorite human, this moment of reunion is one of the most telling.
It’s not just excitement—you may notice a focused, almost investigative energy as your dog greets you. They’re not only happy you’re back, but actively trying to take you in. “They’re thrilled to see you and want to gather information about you,” Bassett explains. “Yes, the excitement matters, but so does the sniffing. Dogs experience the world through scent, so this combo of excitement and investigation is a strong indicator that you are highly significant in their world.”

Chunky Gray Cat Makes for the Cutest Micromanager to His Work-From-Home Mom

At least this chunky gray British Shorthair cat, named Clyde, is super cute.
Why Cats Love Interrupting Their HumansCats feel very territorial toward their humans, which is why they want to be close to them.
Maybe rubbing their head up against your shoulder or plopping themselves right on your keyboard.
They also know that humans will (hopefully) welcome this behavior, unlike maybe another kitty in the house.
Another reason is that humans are warm creatures, especially in their laps.

That's just such a cozy seat for a kitty!
We can also see in this video that his mom's lap offers him the perfect view of her bright computer screen, which probably has some interesting things for him to look at.
Humans also offer protection to cats.
Cats, especially when they're sleeping, may feel quite vulnerable, but if they're close to you, they can relax a bit.
You may also be encouraging your kitty to act this way by constantly giving them affection, promoting a cycle of codependency.
Hence, Clyde the chunky cat, is rewarded when he acts as his mom's adorable micromanager with affection and pets.
