Lab Heeler Mix’s DNA Results Are a Shocking Combination of Dog Breeds

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 5:50am

When you adopt a pup from the shelter, you know that the breed listed is generally based on an educated guess from shelter staff. Sometimes they know exactly what mom is, but dad is a mystery, so staffers adorn the pup with the all-encompassing "mix" label.

However, sometimes the breed is just a wild guess based on characteristics and what the staff has seen in the past. It can lead to the staff nailing the breed mix; other times, the pup turns out to be completely different. One dog parent thought they were adopting a Labrador mix, but DNA tests told a different and rather surprising story.

This Lab/Heeler Was Quite the DNA Shocker

DNA tests are ever-popular in the world of dog adoption. While all pet parents care about is having a healthy, happy companion, sometimes it is nice to know what exactly you got yourself into. That's where the Reddit group, DoggyDNA, comes in handy.

While dog owners await the results of their dog's DNA test, other Redditors can guess what breeds they think your pup is. User MahoganyLoggins shares pictures of their sweet pup, Atlas, in the thread, saying the dog was listed as a Lab/Heeler mix, but they think he is a Lab/Pit combo with a little bit of cattle dog.

Redditors threw in all kinds of guesses including German Shorthair Pointer, likely thanks to the spots on Atlas's legs. But, I don't think anyone was quite prepared for what Altas really is. His parents chose Embark for his DNA test, and it came back with a truly remarkable mix of dog breeds that blew my and everyone else's minds.

Related: Mixed-Breed Dog Has a Potato Body and a Tiny Tater Tot Head

Redditors Blown Away by Results

According to his Embark results, Atlas is 32% Great Pyrenees and 31% Cane Corso. I'll be honest- neither of those two breeds crossed my mind as a possibility for this sweet pup's genetic makeup. But the surprises didn't stop there.

Altas is also almost 19% Doberman Pinscher, 13% Golden Retriever, and, to top it off, 3.6% German Shepherd Dog. While I can see the Doberman, especially with Atlas's sleek fur, the Golden Retriever and German Shepherd Dog completely threw me. Also, this is truly a testament to how strong the short-haired genes of the Doberman and Cane Corso are to overcome the fluff that comes with the three other breeds.

Redditors were just as shocked. One writes, "What a mix. Atlas is precious. Thank you for adopting.....and good luck. That's gonna be a whole lotta dawwwg." MahoganyLoggins says in the comments that Embark estimates that he will top out around 86 pounds. Of course, with that mix of big dog DNA running through his veins, I would expect nothing less. Despite being blown away, Redditors all agreed on one thing: his sock feet are amazing.

'Beautiful' Brown Newfoundland Bats Irresistible Eyes and the Internet Can't Stop Swooning

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 10:08pm

To know a Newfoundland Dog is to love one. The affectionate breed is known for its even temperament and affinity for kids, but these gentle giants are also known for their stunning coats and captivating eyes.  As if humans don’t have a hard enough time laying down boundaries with their pups, one Newfoundland Dog’s dreamy eyes are giving social media viewers a run for their money with one commenting, “It’s just not fair. I would be totally manipulated."

Keep reading to see the Newfoundland Dog social media is calling “perfect.”

In a video that graced our TikTok feed, Copper the Newfoundland puppy can be seen doing what Newfoundlands do, basking in his cuteness. This dog doesn’t need to do much to send humans near and far into a full-on frenzy with some stating they’ve never seen a cuter dog.

Copper’s carefully groomed ears and coats have viewers swooning, but it’s his eyes that are getting commenters to fill the comment section with gushing comments.

“Grabbed my heart with those beautiful eyes. Big precious baby,” one confessed. Another added, “Oh my goodness, what a beautiful baby! Those eyes! Absolutely precious.”

“This can’t be real,” another stated, “ What a gorgeous baby.”

Others commented on this puppy’s size writing, “You have a bear,” and “Big precious baby.”

One of the world’s biggest dog breeds, a male Newfoundland will weigh 120pounds-150 pounds as an adult, which explains this pup’s size.

While Newfoundlands are known for their size and sweet temperament, a hazard of welcoming a Newfie into the family is its likely impossible to get anything productive done with a Newfoudnland nearby.

Affectionate and doting, these big beauties are so affable, one will be hard pressed to do anything but cuddle and play with theirs all day.  Still, if Copper is indicative of what it’s like to have a Newfie in the house, it’s well worth the ioss of the ability to get anything done each day.

Tiny Gray Kitten's Happy Little Trills Are Pure Wholesome Goodness

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 9:20pm

Sometimes you hear a cat make a sound and you just… pause. Like, hold on. What was that? Was that a purr? Was that a squeak? Did this tiny creature just unlock a secret bonus sound???

Because this little gray kitten named Tino is out here making the most joyful, ridiculous, tiny little trilly noises while being petted, and it sounds like a happy squeaky toy that came alive. It is soft. It is weirdly musical. It is making people immediately fall in love.

@softfaithdays

Calling all vets!! I got Tino about a month ago and he has always made this sound when I pet him. I took him to the vet the week I got him for them to check it out and they said he may have a URI and gave him shots. However, it’s been 3 weeks and no change. Anyone have a cat that makes this noise? #veterinarian #vettok #cat #kitten #kidsoftiktok

♬ Little Life - Robert Gromotka

TikToker @softfaithdays shared the adorable clip, and the cat mom was actually a little worried at first. She explained that Tino had been making this sound since she got him and even took him to the vet just to make sure everything was OK.

Turns out… he’s just extremely happy.

Like next-level happy.

Related: 8 Cute, Strange and Funny Reasons Cats Purr, According to a Vet

The viewer in the comments immediately reassured her.

“That is a trill. He’s a happy little velociraptor.”

“He is purring and trilling at the same time. He will likely do this forever. Congratulations.”

Others made it very clear that this is elite cat behavior.

“This is the top tier of cat happy. Trilling. The level above purr.”

“That’s the ultimate purr. The final form.”

And honestly, I love that for him. Imagine just existing at maximum happiness like that. No thoughts. Just vibes. Just trills.

My Maine Coon, Meatball, does this all the time, way more than my Orange Cat, Tarkus, or my Calico, Elvis. Meatball will just walk into a room announcing himself like a tiny motorized pigeon and expect everyone to acknowledge him immediately, which we obviously do because we are not monsters.

What Is Trilling? @mother_ofcats_

Morning trills from the baby #catsoftiktok #fyp #cats #foryoupage

♬ original sound - Mother of Cats

Trilling is a sound cats make that is kind of like a mix between a purr and a chirp, and it usually means they are very happy, very content, or trying to communicate something positive.

Kitties often use trills to greet their humans, get attention, or show affection. It is especially common in kittens or very social cats, and some breeds, like Maine Coons, seem to do it more than others.

Basically, if your cat is trilling at you, you are doing something right.

Like, really right.

You have achieved peak cat approval, which is honestly one of the highest honors available in life.

Golden Retriever Teaching New Puppy Sibling To Swim Is a Lifeguard at Heart

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 8:55pm

Deciding to bring home a new puppy playmate for your resident pup comes with many perks. Not only do they become each other's best friend, but your older dog might even teach the little one a thing or two.

This is exactly what happened when Golden Retriever puppy Stevie joined her new family. Her dog brother, Chili, was instantly smitten with her and loves being the big brother. Now, he's teaching the sweet girl to swim, and it's one of the most heartwarming scenes you'll see all week.

@goldenchilidog

the sweetest boy 🥹 he was drastically slowing down to match her speed 😭 #goldenretriever #swimmingdog

♬ Island In The Sun - Weezer

It's like @goldenchilidog knew we all needed a clip like this because it's 21 seconds of doggy sibling perfection. The video shows a dedicated Chili swimming alongside little Stevie, guiding her with the toy in both of their mouths. This is all safe thanks to the human lifeguard wading next to them.

The swim lessons are part of Green Leaf Pet Resort's coolest offerings, providing an aquatic center for dogs to learn how to swim, get acclimated to the water, fitness training, water therapy, and recovery—or to just have fun. This sounds like every dog's dream, and I think Stevie and Chili would second that!

The adorable duo has captured the internet's collective heart, with many praising Chili's patience and devotion to his sibling. If you're wondering how things went beyond the two of them lapping around the pool together, you're in luck!

A much-needed second installment shows it didn't take long before sweet Stevie caught on and realized she's got this swimming thing in the bag! As Chili watches the Golden Retriever puppy find her "sea legs," he looks like a proud big brother. It's incredible to watch Stevie's confidence grow, and it's all because Chili believed in her.

With the help of an older, more self-assured dog sibling, younger pups can learn a lot when it comes to swimming (as you saw!).

Their confidence, calm demeanor, and encouragement are one thing, but the little ones look up to them to model the correct behaviors. Then, they'll follow suit. Dogs have a natural instinct to follow their leader because of their innate pack drive mentality, so watching another pup enjoying the water shows young ones it's safe and maybe even a little fun.

Look how quickly Stevie caught on to swimming. Now, she's having the time of her life—and it's all because of her loving big brother showing her the ropes!

10-Year-Old Dog Escapes Pet Sitter And Spends a Harrowing 43 Days in the Wild

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 8:50pm

Every dog owner's nightmare scenario is their pup going missing while they are away. Whether it's them running away from home while you're miles away on vacation, or taking them to the destination with you and them getting out in an unfamiliar place, either scenario is terrifying.

Unfortunately, for one dog dad, it became a heartbreaking reality: his dog, Rocky, escaped from a pet sitter. The 10-year-old pup spent the next 43 days in Colorado's snowy wilderness: a place that was miles from home.

Colorado Pup Goes Missing for 43 Days

Rocky, his dad Steve Maa, and his girlfriend were in the middle of a cross-country move for Maa's new job in California when the pup went missing on a stopover in Colorado. The plan was to ski in Summit County.

Rocky was dropped off with a pet sitter near Montezuma. But he slipped out of his harness and took off, according to Summit Daily. A search was underway as soon as Maa heard the news. But after hours of no luck, the couple turned to Summit Lost Pet Rescue, a non-profit.

Co-founder Brandon Ciullo and the organization's volunteer team went to work the next morning, setting up cameras and a scent station with the pup's items and things that smelled like Maa, which are key to retrieving a lost dog.
Cuillo told the outlet, "Especially if it’s an unfamiliar area, a dog will come back, smell something that smells familiar, and then end up just staying in that particular area."

Since it was late December, the temperatures were frigid, which is concerning for an older dog who doesn't know the area. Rocky was seen multiple times in the area, but would not come to the volunteers. The sightings gave everyone hope, but the pup wasn't seen again for 39 days, and Maa and his girlfriend couldn't stay in the area any longer. Maa was set to start his new job in Los Angeles and couldn't stay to support the search any longer.

Just as the volunteers were getting ready to stop searching for Rocky, he was captured on someone's porch camera. Volunteers set up a trap in the area and, after multiple attempts, captured the pup. In the 43 days he was missing, Rocky lost 22 pounds, going from a healthy 50 to a dangerously low 28.

While Maa drove from Los Angeles to Summit County, Rocky was cared for by the Summit County Animal Shelter, the Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital, and the Rescue. Maa and Rocky's emotional reunion was captured on video by Summit Lost Pet Rescue.

What to do if Your Pet is Lost

If you find yourself in the unthinkable situation where your dog is lost, there are a few things you can do to increase your ability to find them. Things like calling local animal shelters, animal control, rescues, and veterinarians can help your odds of finding your lost dog. Many cities also have Facebook and other social media groups where you can share your lost pet, letting people in the area know to look out for them.

Whether you're at home or traveling, placing familiar items outside will give your pup a scent trail to follow. Also, be sure to keep your pet's microchip information up to date. They will be returned to you faster if the veterinarian or rescue can scan their chip.

I came here to say something, but I can’t remember. Do you know? Let me think... It’s coming back... It’s gone again... which makes you wonder... where do thoughts go? Do they leave us? Or were they never really ours? Am I forgetting? Or am I being forgotten? And now I’m left here awake in the dark. Everyone keeps saying go back to bed! But what is a bed, and who decided I belong in one? These are the questions that keep me up."

So funny! Although maybe less amusing if you're the one trying to get some shut-eye. If you have an early wake-up, you may be tempted to find the kitty version of melatonin.

Viewers love Bean's monologue and encourage the family to join him in his antics.

"Poor Beanie. He’s lonesome and wants to play. GET UP!! 😂😂😂," one viewer wrote.

"Sooooooo, when’s his audiobook coming out? 🤣🤭," another asked.

He does have a lot to say!

"Jeeze Bean. We heard you way down here in North Carolina 🙀," another fan joked.

How Do You Quiet a Vocal Kitty?

As much as we adore Bean's voice, it could make it tough to get some much-needed sleep. Once you've ruled out that there isn't anything medically wrong with your kitty, you may have success minimizing meowing by not rewarding each vocalization with treats or attention.

Of course, cats may be trying to tell you they're hungry or they'd like their litter box refreshed. In this case, it seems like Bean is just a little bored. Maybe he heard a noise outside and wants to protect his family.

Of course, it's easy for Bean to do this; he gets to catnap all day! I hope he decides to save his monologues for midday instead of the middle of the night!

Rescue Dog With Face of a Human Man Has Everyone Swooning

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 7:55pm

If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that you can't dictate when a pet chooses you to be their forever person. Nearly every cat and dog I've ever rescued entered my life at random, kismet ways, and I don't argue with fate! It's a real gift to be the one they deem worthy of caring for them (whether we're ready or not).

One rescue dog named Max survived in the woods as a stray before puttering up to his new mom and silently saying, "I choose you." Once you get a view of his human man-looking face, you'll understand why Max's mom immediately scooped this boy up and gave him the life of his dreams!

Max has been one of my favorite dogs to follow, if only for his overly expressive face! You never know what he's thinking, but it's probably philosophy or some challenging physics equations. The curly-haired Poodle mix has been compared to Will Ferrell and John Candy in Spaceballs, but I'm calling it—he's 100% that guy who'll steal your girl if you don't watch out!

This pup knows what it takes to keep viewers engaged. Whether he's thrilled about his newly discovered agility skills or just maintaining his stud muffin status, I doubt there's a single thing in the world better than quietly sitting and admiring Max.

That said, please. Admire as long as possible. I think he's communicating something really deep here.

@max.hawt.dawg

Forget the old adage that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, because it's nowhere near the truth. If anything, older, more experienced pups have the patience to nail down new skills, where puppies prefer chaos! I adopted my senior Staffy three years ago, and he's still picking up new things (namely, he's teaching me to give him more treats)!

As a former stray dog with an unknown history, Max knows what it takes to be charming, adorable, and smart all on his own because it helped him survive. Now that he's in a safe, stable, and loving home, he's happy to share what he's capable of. So, the next time a stray dog appears out of nowhere and chooses you, just say yes!

This Adorable Pug Trend of 2026 Is Catching Owners Off Guard

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 7:48pm

Several years ago, the wrinkly pug was the most popular breed of toy dog. While they've dropped down the list, they remain one of the most popular toy dog breeds, and now it seems like they're surging back in popularity again.

The American Kennel Club recently released its list of the most popular dog breeds. The pug was ranked in the 38th spot. But when it comes to the toy dog category, the pug is among the most popular. According to the Royal Kennel Club, the pug is the fourth most popular toy dog breed.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

The club does its ranking by registrations of new dogs. While people might expect tiny fluffy dogs to dominate the toy dog rankings, that is not the case. For example, the cavalier King Charles spaniel holds the No. 1 spot.

The humble pug continues to show up in conversations as the perfect companion for a variety of reasons. There is something about their face and that slightly worried expression, the way they follow you from room to room, the quiet insistence on being included in everything.

Related: Golden-Hearted Hero Dog Saves the Day in Missing Toddler Search

If you have ever had a long day and sat down, only for your dog to climb into your lap like it has been waiting for that exact moment, you understand the appeal. Pugs are built just for that moment.

Why Pugs Keep Appearing on Popularity Lists

The Royal Kennel Club tracks registration, which reflects real decisions people are making. And it seems like people are wanting smaller dogs that fit apartment living, have a calmer temperament and show a strong human attachment.

That is the definition of the pug. What they excel at is providing companionship to real households. If you want to know more about this dog breed, take a look at the video below.

This dog provides less chaos and more closeness. In 2026, that close relationship might be the biggest trend of all.

Understanding the Toy Dog Group

The Royal Kennel Club separates dog breeds into seven different groups, each with a particular set of attributes.

For example, the toy group is where you can find a dog that is affectionate and small enough that can fit in an apartment.

One surprise from the list is there is no toy poodle on it. That is potentially because pet parents might have moved toward miniature and standard poodles instead.

Some of the other popular toy dog breeds include Pomeranian, Chihuahua (both long coat and short coat variations), Maltese and bichon frise.

Golden Retriever Insists on Escorting People Down the Stairs Like a Tiny Gentleman

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 7:20pm

Some dogs fetch balls. Some dogs nap professionally. And then there are dogs like Lenny, the Golden Retriever, who has appointed himself as a full-time safety coordinator for stairs, no training required, just vibes and a deep personal commitment to making sure no one absolutely eats it on the way down.

Because in Lenny’s world, you are not going down those stairs alone. That is simply not happening. Liability risk. Unacceptable.

TikTok user @wanderingwallyandsaber shared the adorable video, which shows Lenny very gently taking his job seriously while his dog sitter explains what is about to happen.

“So I’m dog sitting, and the dog that I take care of needs to hold my hand when we go downstairs… come on.”

And sure enough, Lenny walks over, gently takes her wrist in his mouth, and carefully escorts her down the stairs like a tiny, fluffy gentleman with a clipboard.

He walks her all the way down, over to his bed, releases her arm like “my work here is done,” and then immediately accepts praise like the professional he is. Tail wagging. Job complete. No incidents to report.

The comments were, as expected, perfect.

“Dog POV: So I’m human sitting. The human I take care of needs me to hold her hand when we go downstairs. She’s only got two legs, and stairs can be treacherous.”

“He probably thinks you were dropped off for him to babysit.”

“OK, but did you fall? No? Lenny did his job.”

And honestly, that is the only metric that matters.

Others pointed out how serious he is about this.

“Lenny takes his human sitting job very seriously! No one is falling down the stairs on his watch!”

“What a kind and considerate young man.”

And then this one, which I will be thinking about forever.

“He is a Retriever. You have been retrieved.”

Yes. Exactly. Case closed.

Why Golden Retrievers Make Such Great Service Dogs Golden Retriever service dog.

Image via Shutterstock/SasaStock

Golden Retrievers are known for their intelligence, patience, and strong desire to work closely with humans, which makes them one of the most common breeds used as service and assistance dogs.

They are naturally gentle, highly trainable, and very attuned to human behavior, often picking up on emotional and physical needs quickly. That combination makes them ideal for roles like guiding, mobility assistance, and emotional support.

They also tend to enjoy having a “job,” even if no one officially gave them one, which is exactly how you end up with a pup like Lenny, who has decided that stair safety is his personal responsibility.

And honestly, after watching him work, I would trust him with my life.

Meerkat Floats Through His Bubble Bath Like He's the King of the Jungle

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 7:17pm

The Lion may technically be considered the king of the jungle, but don’t tell the Meerkat. Actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s Meerkat King Julien in the animated Madagascar movies took on the self-imposed role as king of the jungle, not to mention the film’s scene-stealer, which seems to be indicative of Meerkats. Judging by a recent social media video that crossed our feed and left us with a full laugh-out-loud moment, King Julien is alive and well—and enjoying his bath time.

In the video, which graced our TikTok feed, a real-life King Julien can be seen floating in the tub, taking the ultimate bubble bath. This Meerkat even has the requisite soap mohawk and couldn’t look any more content soaking in the tub while hanging out in his green floatie.

Pet lovers rushed to the comment section on the post, with Meerkats gaining a myriad of new fans falling in love with the charming mammal.

“I didn’t know I needed a Meerkat until now,” shared one. Another added, “Stop, this is too cute.”

Another gushed, “The cutest Meerkat I have ever seen.”

Before you join the legions of viewers Googling “where to get a Meerkat,” know that these exotic animals require highly specialized care. That means a veterinarian who specializes in exotic animals, an insect-rich diet, and constant attention.

Meerkats love to dig and run and require a large amount of space to explore and play. These animals can’t tolerate cold weather, and their intense desire to dig can wreak havoc on carpets, floors, and furniture. They're also considered exotic or wild animals in most U.S. states with strict regulations prohibiting their domestication.

Meerkats are adorable, but might be best left in the movies and on social media.

Rescue Steps In to Save Cat—What Vet Finds Leaves Everyone Stunned

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 6:55pm

What started as a heartbreaking surrender turned into a life-saving rescue—and a shocking discovery.

According to a March 16 Facebook post from HALO No-Kill Rescue Shelter in Sebastian, Florida, a 6-year-old cat named Midnite was brought to the vet by her now-former guardian after showing signs of illness. The vet discovered a serious blockage, but when the cost of treatment wasn’t feasible, the cat was sadly signed over for euthanasia.

That’s when the vet reached out to the rescue, asking if they could take on her care, cover the cost of surgery and, if all went well, help her find a new home. The vet believed Midnite had a strong chance of recovery—and the rescue said yes.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

A Close Call That Could Have Ended Differently

Shortly after Midnite underwent surgery, veterinarians discovered the cause. Twenty-six hair ties. Seeing them laid out on the medical tray is absolutely shocking.

The hair ties had built up in Midnite’s system, creating a dangerous blockage that required immediate surgery. Without intervention, she wouldn’t have survived.

Thankfully, Midnite was one of the lucky ones. Now, she’s recovering well, and according to the rescue, she’s very happy to be eating again, “ravenously attacking her bowl the moment it’s put down.”

Pet Parents Share Similar Stories

In the comments section, many people shared just how common and scary this issue can be.

“Exactly the same thing happened with my cat,” one person wrote, explaining their cat needed abdominal surgery after swallowing hair ties.

Another added, “My son’s cat had a blockage from one hair tie.”

Others admitted the post was a wake-up call, with one commenter saying they had just caught their own cat trying to eat one.

Related: Pregnant Cat Found Injured on the Streets—Now This Resilient Feline Is Living Her Best Life

Why Hair Ties and Small Objects Are So Dangerous

As harmless as they seem, hair ties can pose a serious risk to cats.

Cats are naturally drawn to small, stretchy or string-like objects. Hair ties, rubber bands, ribbon and similar items can trigger their hunting instincts, making them fun to bat around. And, unfortunately, they’re easy to swallow.

The problem is that these items don’t break down in the body. Once ingested, they can become lodged in the digestive tract, causing a blockage that may require emergency surgery. In some cases, string-like objects can even cause internal damage as they move through the intestines.

Because of this, it’s crucial to keep small objects like hair ties out of reach and be mindful of what your pets have access to, especially if they have a habit of playing with them.

If you notice symptoms like vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy or unusual behavior, contact your veterinarian right away.

The Bottom Line

Midnite’s story is a powerful reminder that everyday household items can quickly become life-threatening hazards for pets.

Thankfully, she got a second chance—and hopefully, her story helps prevent similar situations for other cats.

Pit Bull Reacts Like a Diva When Bath Time Is Interrupted

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 6:10pm

We all have our moments when we just need some downtime. Whether it's reading a book, taking a nap, self-pampering with a pedicure, or listening to some soothing music, everyone has a certain ritual to unwind and prefers not to be disturbed when trying to relax.

Zara the Pit Bull has the same expectations when she's enjoying a bath and gets a little miffed when that zen time is disrupted.

@zarathepit

Like I’m off the clock rn relaxing smh #dogsoftiktok #pitbullsoftiktok #pittiesoftiktok #dogbath #bathtime

♬ original sound - Zara the Pit🩶🐾

In the TikTok from @zarathepit, the canine cutie stood in the tub to get a good soak. The pretty Pittie heard a noise and was obviously irritated.

"When the doorbell rings during bath time," the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, "Like, I’m off the clock right now relaxing."

Zara didn't appreciate the unnecessary interruption. She obviously expected silence during her tub time, and the doorbell rudely broke the quiet serenity she requires during her bath. Zara expressed her frustration with several "boof" barks, telling her mom to send away any visitors.

"Relax," her mom said, laughing at Zara's diva-like demands.

Followers got a kick out of the Pit Bull's prima donna personality, and understood why she was annoyed.

"Literally, how dare they when you are at the spa!" one remarked.

"Mother, there’s someone at the door," another joked.

"I feel this exact way when the doorbell rings when I'm in the shower — just vulnerable," a follower shared.

"She’s like 'the one time I'm busy'," someone pointed out.

Tips for Bathing a Pit Bull

Pit Bulls don't require frequent baths since they have short hair and produce natural oils that protect their coat and skin. A good shampoo every one to six months is sufficient to keep your Pittie's fur clean and healthy.

A few tips to keep in mind when bathing your Pit Bull:

Related: 3-Legged Rescue Pit Bull Receives Prosthetic Leg and Jumps for the First Time

  • Be consistent — have a routine for your Pittie's bath with a structured set of steps that acclimates them to the process.
  • Slowly wet your dog's fur — don't rush your fur baby. Take your time getting their fur wet so they can ease into the sensation of the water on their coat and skin.
  • Protect your Pittie's eyes and ears — Avoid getting shampoo in or near their eyes. Pit Bulls are prone to ear infections, so keep their ears dry during their bath. Gently insert cotton balls into their ears for extra protection.

Your Pittie may grow to love their bathing routine and, like Zara, consider their tub time sacred.

Woman Got a Cat to Avoid Daily Walks—But Her Kitty Had Other Plans

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 5:55pm

If you thought getting a cat meant saying goodbye to daily walks, you might want to think again.

One cat mom learned this the hard way after adopting a curious kitty who quickly decided the outdoors was very much part of his routine. The video, shared on Reddit r/cats, shows the cat confidently trotting down the street on a leash. Since it’s nighttime, the kitty is wearing a glowing collar for safety, which also makes the whole scene even cuter.

Dania Ramirez
by u/CatWieldingChainsaws in SexyWomanOfTheDay

Ironically, the cat mom originally got a cat rather than a dog to avoid this kind of commitment. As the post title puts it: “Got a cat to avoid the daily walks…and yet here we are.”

It Started With the Front Yard

According to the cat mom's comments, the kitty had a habit of bolting for the front door, so she introduced a harness and leash as a way to safely let him explore the yard without risking him running off.

It seemed like the perfect compromise—fresh air for the cat, peace of mind for the human. But this agreement didn't last long.

Before she knew it, the cat was demanding to explore more, and those short, supervised backyard outings turned into full-on neighborhood walks. And judging by the video, the cat is more than happy to keep the routine going.

Related: Ragdoll Cats Go on Dreamy Hike and the Views Are Wild

Viewers Had Thoughts

People in the comments were equal parts amused and impressed.

One person wrote that they "love the glow collar lol," clearly appreciating the cat’s nighttime visibility.

Others had more practical questions, especially about walking cats in areas with lots of dogs. The cat mom reassured viewers that most dog parents keep their distance. And in the few instances where a dog has gotten too close, her cat has confidently swatted them away.

Another person joked, “lol as long as he doesn’t like to walk in the rain that’s a win,” to which the cat mom replied, “Unfortunately he will ask to go out in all weather 😔 but the walks will be shorter the heavier the rain haha.”

Do Cats Like Going on Leash Walks?

Leash walks can be a great way to provide cats with enrichment, exercise and safe outdoor time. But walking a cat is very different than walking a dog.

The key is starting slow. Most cats need time to get used to wearing a harness indoors before ever stepping outside. Once they’re comfortable, short, low-stress outings can help build their confidence.

It’s also important to let your cat take the lead—literally. Unlike dogs, cats don’t want to be guided by you (typical cat behavior). They prefer to lead the way, exploring at their own pace.

Of course, not every cat will enjoy it. Personality plays a big role—more confident, curious cats tend to adapt best, while more timid cats may find it overwhelming. Always pay attention to your cat’s body language to gauge how they’re feeling, and take proper safety precautions to keep outings as stress-free and secure as possible.

Rare ‘Flame-Point’ Siamese Cat’s Curly Ears Have Everyone Smiling

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 5:00pm

I love cats. I love them all, even the most "boring" cats you could imagine. There's not a cat I wouldn't take in if they needed me... But if I got to take my pick, I would definitely want a cat that was a little out of the ordinary.

For example, this Flame-Point Siamese cat with adorably curly ears. It's not the fur on his ears that's curly, it's literally his ears, and I will never stop thinking about him:

Sylvester the Siamese is so amazing. The way his ears curl really shows off all of that fur in there! He got to play in the snow in this video, and unlike most cats, he seemed to really like it. His fiery face thought the snow was the perfect way to cool him down!

Sylvester is from Seattle, and he's actually a rescue! That's really special: a lot of people think you can't find rare colors/designer cats in shelters, but that's not the case. It's just a combination of luck and knowing where to look! Luckily, he's settling into his forever home.

Siamese Cats Are Silly

Siamese cats are some of my favorites because a lot of them look a little cross-eyed. It goes hand-in-hand with their colorpoint coat; the gene for the points often comes with a mutation that causes cross-eyedness. As for their personalities, they're super outgoing and silly!

Most Common Siamese Colors

Almost all Siamese cats have a colorpoint coat of some kind. In fact, in order for a Siamese cat to be considered purebred, they must have a colorpoint coat. Anything else, even though it might check all the other boxes, is not a true Siamese.

The most common colorpoints for Siamese are:

  • Seal-point (grey-black).
  • Lilac-point (beige-purple).
  • Chocolate (true brown).

Flamepoint Siameses like Sylvester are very rare! It just goes to show that you should never count out the shelter when you're searching for the cat of your dreams!

Golden Retriever Overcome With Pure Joy Reuniting With Mom After 2 Days Apart

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 4:33pm

Normally, two days isn't that long away from anyone. Just a simple forty-eight hours; nothing more than a weekend getaway. It’s a perfectly acceptable amount of time to be away.

Unless you're Donut the Golden Retriever. In which case, forty-eight hours equals an eternity.

There's an adorable TikTok that's basically the visual representation of pure unadulterated love. Mom was gone for just about 48 hours—that’s two whole days—and when she returned home, Donut was waiting patiently and affectionately at the front door.

The caption reads, "To be loved by a golden retriever 🥹💜" and it tracks.

@the_goldendonut

To be loved by a golden retriever 🥹💜 #dogsoftiktok #dogmom

♬ lovers’ carvings - Bibio

The video's titled, "POV: You're reunited with your Golden Retriever after 48 hours apart," and what follows is honestly beautiful on a whole other level.

Donut is situated right in front of the door. He knows, "I think I smell mom."

Someone arrives, and the door slowly begins to open.

"MOM!!!"

And then pure canine affection induced chaos. The best kinds: hugs, kisses, jumps, tail wags—all of it happening at once. Mom's petting him, returning every bit of that love and energy, and Donut is absolutely beside himself.

Then he runs off. Immediately, comes back with his favorite baby stuffy in his mouth as a gift.

Apparently, giving mom his most precious possession is the only appropriate response to her return.

When he finally starts to calm down, he lies on the floor and takes a breath.

Related: Giant Schnauzer Becomes Ultimate 'Helicopter Parent' and Refuses to Let Dad Swim

Just as quickly, he remembered what he had forgotten. He loves Mom. Like, he really, really loves mom. So, just to make sure she doesn’t leave without him again, he's just gonna crawl into her arms and live there forever now. That's Donut’s plan.

Mom's never leaving again. It's been decided.

The hot take in the comments hit different: "If you are a fur parent, you know that this is exactly what happens every single time you leave the house. When we leave our fur babies, time is not measured in minutes; it is measured in moments away from one another, so every single time reuniting feels like the first time after a long time apart. It's beautiful and bittersweet."

Personally, I've watched our three dogs do this every single time our girls come home to visit from college.

Because that's what happens when someone you love returns. You love on them.

Golden Retrievers Experience Time Differently and Bond Deeply With Their Families

Here's what's actually happening when Donut loses his mind reacting to his mom’s return: to him, she's not just the person who feeds him. She is his entire world. That devoted greeting isn't transactional—it's genuinely purely emotional.

Dogs don't experience time the same way that we do. They can't check a clock. Forty-eight hours might as well be forty-eight years from their perspective. The longer you're gone, the more they feel your absence.

Golden Retrievers are especially wired to worry when their pack splits up. Dogs are pack animals, and when you leave, something in them registers that the family is incomplete. For some dogs, it's less of a big deal. But, for others, like Donut, it's intense.

By the time mom actually walks into the house, the excitement's been building. Dogs can pick up your scent, hear your car, and recognize your footsteps before you even touch the door. In fact, my dogs go crazy as soon as they hear the Life 360 ding that we are near. It’s actually insane to watch how excited they get. Donut probably knew she was home a full minute before that door opened.

That sweet reunion? That's not a performance, that's honest emotion. He genuinely missed his mom, and bringing her his baby proves it. That's his most valuable possession, and he wanted her to have it. He’d give anything just to have Mom back.

She is. The pack's complete again. Everything's right with the world.

Donut's not letting her out of his sight for a while.

Cat With Actual Prescription Glasses Looks Like the Nicest Gentleman

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 4:00pm

As a lifelong glasses wearer, I remember the first time I got them. I didn't like wearing them and never remembered, but I have to admit that I did like seeing stuff. These days, I never even get out of bed without them on!

Apparently, humans aren't the only ones who have glasses. In a recent video, one cat mom showed off that one of her cats only has one eye... And another has prescription glasses. I've never seen anything like it:

@squishyyboy

The best part about Squishy Boy wearing these glasses is that he's doing the quintessential look-over; you can tell he's judging his siblings. The orange kitty only has one eye, and though the video doesn't focus on the grey one for very long... It looks like he's wearing a unicorn horn?

Their mom hasn't shared any specific information about how or why her cat ended up with glasses, but it's hysterical all the same. Commenters can't get over it, with someone saying, "I'm the first generation to ever see a cat with glasses!

Squishy Boy is not freaking out at all while he's wearing his glasses, which is a miracle. If I tried to put glasses on my dogs, they'd probably lose their minds! From another angle, you can see how well they fit:

I'm in love. I need a cat with glasses! He looks like a little kid!

Why Would a Cat Wear Glasses?

Cats actually needing prescription glasses is exceedingly rare: more often than not, cats have bad vision anyway. They really can't see in great detail, especially up close. Technically, kitty "reading glasses" might help improve their vision.

Typically, if you see a cat wearing glasses:

  • They've been trained to tolerate them since they were babies.
  • They're part of a costume or an outfit.
  • They're "working" with kids, helping them feel more comfortable in them.

As long as you get cats used to the feeling of glasses early enough, they won't have any problems wearing them. A strap around the arms will help keep them on, too! If I had seen this when I was a kid, I would have been more inclined to wear them for sure.

Giant Schnauzer Becomes Ultimate 'Helicopter Parent' and Refuses to Let Dad Swim

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 3:02pm

Having a private pool should mean freedom. Swim whenever you want; day or night. Float around in the sunshine. Relax under blue skies. Enjoy the easy life.

Unless you have a Giant Schnauzerwho's appointed himself Head Lifeguard and Safety Manager.

There's a TikTok where dad's just trying to enjoy his pool, and his Giant Schnauzer, Vader, has completely different plans. The caption reads, "He is not taking his eyes off me. When you can't even swim in your pool because our dog thinks we will drown!"

What's happening is obvious: Dad's not progressing past the pool steps. Vader has him cornered there and will not allow him to venture into deeper water.

Dad tries to explain the situation to his wife off-camera: "He won't let me swim. Watch if I try to go swimming. No chance. Like, he thinks I can't swim."

Vader has positioned himself between Dad and the rest of the pool. Dad's not going anywhere past Vader the Giant Schnauzer.

"See, he says, you stay right there."

"He put papa in the corner."

The assessment's completely accurate. This Giant Schnauzer has decided beyond a reasonable doubt that the steps are the safe zone, and Dad's staying there whether he likes it or not. Safety first.

Vader can't handle it if Dad swims or does anything at all. “We literally can't swim. He'll either drown me or drown himself. He is not taking his eyes off me."

People in the comments had thoughts.

The internet has strong opinions: "Go get a full checkup. He might be sensing a health problem."

Others had jokes, "That lifeguard runs a strict program 😂"

"He is protecting you as he thinks you are in danger."

Vader said, “Go back to the safe zone, sir."

The reality: "He loves you. You're giving him anxiety."

At the end of the day, it all boiled down to the same sentiment: "Just sit in the corner and let that baby protect you! 😂💕"

Giant Schnauzers Are Intensely Protective Dogs Who Bond Deeply With Their Humans

Here's why this Giant Schnauzer's behavior is so intense: these dogs have extremely strong protective instincts and bond deeply with their people. They're velcro dogs who follow you room to room and make it their business to know where you are at all times.

Giant Schnauzers are working dogs at heart. They need a job, and this one's decided his job is Pool Safety Paw Patrol. Dad swimming into the deep end? No thank you. That’s definitely an unacceptable risk. Dad staying on the steps where it's shallow? Vader approves that activity. He’s a keen believer in better safe than sorry; such a helicopter pet.

That protectiveness is part of what makes the breed so special. They take their role as guardians very seriously. Sometimes too seriously, like when they won't let you use your own pool.

The dog's not being aggressive at all. He's being careful and protective. Dad's his person, and he's keeping him safe whether Dad wants his help or not.

Dad's trapped on those steps by pure love and an overabundance of caution. The pool's open. Swimming's just... not currently available as an activity.

The lifeguard has spoken.
