Handicapped Rescue Cat’s Loving Gaze at His Mom Has Everyone Emotional

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 5:55am

There is something about a senior rescue cat that just hits different. Maybe it is everything they have been through, maybe it is the way they love once they finally feel safe, or maybe it is just that quiet, steady kind of affection that feels really earned.

Whatever it is, this sweet cat named Roman has it in full force. You can see it in the way he looks at his mom like she hung the moon and also controls the snack supply, which, honestly, might be the same thing to him.

@ciarajfaulkner

MY SHAYLA 😭 #cattok #cats #fyp

The emotional video was shared on the @ciarajfaulkner TikTok account, and it tells the story of Roman, a gray-and-white rescue cat who was found on the street and later adopted as a senior with special needs.

Roman has a cleft lip, no teeth, and no tail, and when he was adopted four years ago, the shelter believed he might only have about a year left.

Instead, he is thriving.

In the clip, Roman is glued to his mom in the most loving way possible. He gazes up at her with a soft, adoring look, purring, making biscuits, and gently licking her face, like he is just so happy to be there, he doesn't know what to do with himself.

And honestly, same. I would also be doing all of that.

The caption says it perfectly.

“Rescued the handicapped elderly gentleman from the shelter, but turns out he rescued me.”

The comments were just a collective emotional breakdown.

“He waited his whole life for you.”

“Oh my god, he loves you so much. Thank you.”

“Geriatric cats are the sole reason I exist, actually.”

Others pointed out something really important.

“Thank you for choosing not only a special-needs kitty, but a senior kitty.”

“These are the kitties who really need help the most and are the most overlooked.”

And that is the part that really sticks with you. Because as much as this video is about how much Roman loves his mom, it is also about the fact that someone chose him.

Exactly as he is.

Why To Adopt the Senior Rescue Cat @smittensrescue

5 Reasons to Adopt a Senior Cat 🐱💛 Featuring Peony! Kittens may steal the spotlight, but senior and adult cats have just as much love to give, and often make purrfect companions. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Calm and Mellow – Senior cats are past the chaotic kitten stage. They’re usually content to lounge, cuddle, and enjoy the quiet life with you. 2️⃣ What You See Is What You Get – Their personalities are already fully developed, so you’ll know exactly who you’re adopting. 3️⃣ Gratitude and Love – Many senior cats have lost their homes and are incredibly affectionate and loyal when given a second chance. 4️⃣ Easier to Manage – They’re typically litter box trained, less destructive, and more settled into routines. 5️⃣ You’re Saving a Life – Senior cats are often overlooked in shelters. Giving one a loving home is truly life-changing, for both of you. Did we convince you? Then meet Peony! Peony is a 10-year-old brown tabby with a gentle, affectionate personality. She came to Smittens Rescue after being surrendered to Los Angeles Animal Control due to her former owner’s financial hardship. At the time, she was living outdoors and in need of medical care. Since then, she’s had hernia surgery and dental work and is now healthy and ready for a new home. Peony enjoys being brushed, lounging near her people, and playing with toys, especially feather wands and her own tail. She’s talkative, loves head scratches, and will politely ask for more attention with a little head-butt. While she appreciates affection, she’ll let you know when she’s had enough. Peony would do best in a calm home, and she may do well with other cats and dogs after a slow introduction. She’s ready to settle into a safe, loving environment for her golden years. Ready to adopt Peony? Here’s how to get started: 1️⃣ Go to smittensrescue.org/adoption-application 2️⃣ Fill out the application 3️⃣ Wait to hear back from one of our volunteers to set up a meeting Peony can’t wait to meet her forever family! 💕 #smittensrescue #seniorcatlove #adoptdontshop #sandiegocats #rescuelove #fureverhome #adoptaseniorcat #catadoption #tabbylove

♬ Pretty (Sped Up) - MEYY

Senior cats are often overlooked in shelters, but they can make some of the most loving and rewarding companions. Many are already past the chaotic kitten phase, which means you are getting a calmer, more settled pet who is just looking for comfort, safety, and connection.

They also tend to form incredibly strong bonds with their humans, especially after being given a second chance. There is something very real about the way they love, like they understand what it means to finally be home.

Cats with special needs, like Roman, may require a little extra care, but they often give back so much more in affection and companionship.

And if you ever find yourself being looked at the way Roman looks at his mom, you will understand immediately.

You didn't just rescue them.

They absolutely rescued you, too.

If you're interested in giving a senior or special-needs cat a second chance at a happily ever after, please check with your local humane society or animal shelter.

Rescue Dog Meets His New Auntie, and It's Clearly Love at First Sight

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 5:18am

Cactus, the sweet pup who was rescued from the California desert, had not met any of his human's close relatives. Cactus and his dad reside in Miami, while his extended family lives in Pittsburgh. But when his auntie came for a visit, their introduction "couldn't have gone any better. They clicked instantly," said Cactus' dad. Based on the video, it was love at first sight for both of them.

Cactus showered her with kisses and begged for affection every chance he got. He also snuck into her room to wake her up, his dad finding him in there in the morning. What started as him warning Cactus that "he'd better be nice" turned into a total lovefest.

@cactustherescue

Cactus met my sister for the first time She’s the first immediate family member of mine he’s met. My family’s in Pittsburgh and I haven’t been able to fly with him yet, so this meant a lot. I was hoping it would go well and it couldn’t have gone better. They clicked instantly. Pretty sure he loves her as much as she loves him

♬ Up - Piano Soundtrack - Oscar Castaño Chavez

If his real aunt ever tires of Cactus' attention, one viewer among several is ready to step in: "Such a sweet boy!! I'd like to volunteer to be his auntie and cuddle with him!!"

And it seems Cactus has come a very long way from the timid puppy his dad rescued. Says one fan, "Oh my! He has become such a good boy. I remember when you wouldn’t even get out from under the bed." Here's a video capturing his first few hours in his new home:

@cactustherescue

This was the first day I brought Cactus home. Ive never had my own dog before and really didn’t know what to do. He clearly didn’t know what to do either! What a learning experience it has been for the both of us. Look how far we’ve come!

Heartbreaking, but his transformation is inspiring. Now, Cactus can't wait to meet new people and be spoiled with attention.

Calming a Timid Pup

Bringing home a fearful dog requires patience and a slower, more thoughtful approach than most people expect. These dogs aren’t being difficult—they’re overwhelmed and trying to figure out if they’re safe.

The most important first step is giving them time to decompress. Set up a quiet, low-traffic space where they can settle in without pressure. Skip the introductions and excitement at first—keeping things calm and predictable will help them adjust more comfortably.

When it comes to interaction, let the dog take the lead. Avoid forcing affection or engagement. Move slowly, offer treats like Cactus' dad did, and allow them to approach you on their own terms (commonly called "treat and retreat"). Building trust happens gradually, and giving them space actually helps that process move forward.

Consistency also matters. A steady routine—feeding, walks, rest—helps them understand what to expect, which can reduce anxiety over time.

It’s also important to be mindful of new people and environments. Even after some progress, fearful dogs may still feel uneasy in unfamiliar situations, so continuing to advocate for their comfort is key.

Overall, helping a fearful dog adjust is about creating a sense of safety, keeping expectations realistic, and allowing confidence to build at its own pace.

6 Best Emotional Support Cat Breeds for Veterans, Say Experts

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 5:10am

Welcoming a new pet into your home can be beneficial in so many ways. However, the right cat for every family depends on a unique blend of factors, including lifestyle, whether you want a cuddly pet or not and their overall temperament. But if you are a veteran or have a loved one who is, they may have special requirements they are looking for in a cat that aren’t shared by everyone. In fact, they may need an emotional support cat. To help you narrow down which cat breeds fall into that category, we rounded up 6 emotional support cat breeds for veterans, accordng to experts.

The best cat breeds for veterans depends on what the former service member needs in a pet. “Veterans are a diverse group of people,” notes Julie Hunt, DVM, a veterinarian contributor at Embrace Pet Insurance. "Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or unresolved trauma may be looking for an affectionate cat, while more active veterans may prefer a dog-like cat that can be taken on regular walks without the same required level of care as an actual dog. Some veterans may also prefer a quiet household." On the other hand, Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel, says others may want to consider certain cat breeds that are a better choice for older veterans due to their laidback and easygoing nature.

So, what cat breeds are the best for veterans? While there is no one cat for all veterans, there are tons of therapy cats that can offer love and emotional support, as well as help you feel less stressed. So, if you’re on the hunt for the perfect cat and aren’t sure where to kick off your search, veterinarians recommend starting with these some of these cats for anxiety and depression.

According to Hunt, Ragdoll cats are one of the best emotional support cat breeds for veterans to consider if you're looking for a cuddly, affectionate companion. Known as one of the most calm cat breeds for anxiety and stress, Ragdolls form strong bonds with their owners and thrive on close human interaction. “Some veterans, particularly if they have been involved in traumatic events, may be very happy to have a cat that loves to be picked up and snuggled,” Hunt says. “A cat that relaxes when held can help to regulate the human owner’s emotions and help with calming them.”

Another plus? Ragdolls are also a large, affectionate cat breed with a dog-like personality due to their friendliness and intelligence. These loyal companion cats enjoy following their owners from room to room and being involved in daily activities. The breed can even be taught to play fetch, making them a great choice for veterans who want a dog-like pet with the calm temperament of a cat and fewer responsibilities than owning a dog. Their relaxed nature and loving personality make them one of the best cats for emotional support and companionship.

  • Weight: 12-18 pounds
  • Lifespan: 15+ years

If you're a fan of large cats, the Maine Coon is the biggest domestic cat breed, with some of these felines growing larger than small dogs. This friendly feline is a hit with nearly everyone due to its social, affectionate and laidback nature. Because of their gentle temperament and loyal personality, Maine Coons are often considered one of the best emotional support cat breeds for veterans seeking a calm and affectionate companion. "Maine Coons are a large, long-haired cat that has the reputation of having dog-like behavior, including being outgoing, friendly and affectionate,” Hunt says.

This breed is relatively outdoorsy as far as domestic cats go, with Hunt noting that they’re usually “happy” to spend time outside. “They often can be leash trained,” Hunt says. “Some veterans may appreciate a cat that has a dog-like personality without the labor associated with dog ownership.”

Overall, their easygoing personality is one reason they are frequently recommended as emotional support cats and companion pets for people dealing with stress, anxiety, or PTSD, and why Maine Coons can make excellent therapy cats and emotional support animals.

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Gentle, friendly, affectionate
  • Weight: 12-22 pounds
  • Lifespan: 12.5+ years

The Russian Blue is a fairly independent cat, making it a good fit for people who want a pet, but don’t want one who is on top of them all the time. This medium-sized cat is known for its calm, gentle demeanor, Hunt says. "They tend to be quiet cats, which may be appreciated by veterans who have PTSD or other trauma-related conditions that can be exacerbated by loud noises,” Hunt explains.

She also praises this breed’s intelligence and sensitivity, along with its ability to do its own thing. “They are likely to give the owner more space than the super affectionate Ragdoll or Maine Coon,” Hunt says. Because of this independent nature, the Russian Blue can be a good choice for veterans looking for a low-maintenance emotional support cat that still provides companionship and comfort without constant attention.

The Ragamuffin was once considered to be a variant of the Ragdoll, but it was established as a separate breed in the mid-1990s.Because of its calm personality and loving nature, the Ragamuffin is often considered one of the best emotional support cat breeds for veterans. “Ragamuffins are known to have an exceptionally gentle and affectionate temperament,” Warner says. That makes this breed a great choice for veterans looking for a cuddle buddy, as well as older vets who want a companion.

“They are known to be extremely focused on their humans and often prefer to just sit next to them or follow them from one room to another,” Warner says. This breed thrives in relaxed homes, and is usually very receptive to touch and cuddling, according to Warner. “This may prove to be a big plus to possible owners who love to establish a comforting and strong bond with their cat,” Warner says.

  • Personality: Affectionate, smart
  • Weight: 10-20 pounds
  • Lifespan: 15-18 years

Persians are a pretty cat breed with a big, fluffy coat. But there’s so much more to them than strikingly good looks. “Persians are extremely affectionate but in a gentle manner,” Warner says. “Unlike other cat breeds, which may require their owners to shower them with affection and attention, Persians often show their attachment by simply staying close by, lounging nearby or quietly seeking attention.”

This can be a big perk for veterans who want a sweet pet who doesn’t come on too strong. Another upside to owning one of these loving cats is that they’re a quiet breed. In fact, Warner says that many owners find the Persian’s temperament “extremely comforting and relaxing, which add to the calming vibe of their homes.”

Breed Stats
  • Personality: Gentle, quiet, easy-going
  • Weight: Varies
  • Lifespan: 8-11 years

Siamese cats love to be around people, making them excellent companion pets for veterans or anyone seeking a furry friend. “Siamese cats are known to form strong bonds with their owners, which is why having them can be rewarding,” Warner says. “If you have one, know that they are social and often require interaction throughout the day.”

Since Siamese cats are known to be attentive, loyal and emotionally sensitive, they are well-rounded pets and easy to bond with. “Owners feel that they can establish a very personal relationship with them,” Warner says.

Gigantic Ragdoll Cat the 'Size of a House' Lets Eager Little Sis Win Game Time

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 9:20pm

There are some pet parents who think they have a large cat until they see a kitty who's twice the size. A few breeds naturally produce bigger kitties or in some cases, layers of poofy, fluffy fur that masks their actual size and makes them look like giants.

If you've never seen Juni the Ragdoll cat, you're about to be in for a shock. Not only is she one of the biggest gals I've ever seen, but in comparison to her British Longhair sister, Winnie, she's also the sleepiest. Good luck getting Juni to do anything but nap—even if she's competing in agility against Winnie!

@lyssielooloo

Different effort levels, same motivation: @Jinx . My cats aren’t picky, they just know good taste and texture when they find it. Available only at Walmart. #JinxPartner

As mom @lyssielooloo put it, "Different effort levels, same motivation," and that hit the nail on the head. The sisters are besties, and they do get along, but Juni is just a sweet girl in the world who loves her naps. Everything else is secondary, even playtime with Winnie—until food's involved!

Related: 'Chonky' Ragdoll Kittens Are the Cutest Snow-Colored Clouds

When the elegant Ragdoll is side by side with her little sis, it's clear we all fall to one team or the other. I'm definitely a Juni fan and proud of it. She's not always sleeping, and when she's participating in the fun games, she gives her almost effort!

@lyssielooloo

Ms girthquake almost hit the triple digits

♬ original sound - LyssieLooLoo How Big Do Ragdoll Cats Get?

As a Ragdoll mom myself, I can say these majestic felines are usually so fluffy, it's hard to tell what their actual frame looks like.

Juni is in a league all her own with such a massive figure, but generally speaking, female Ragdolls can weigh up to 15 pounds and make upward of 20 or more! My sweet boy, Milo, looks gigantic with his poof, but he's only about 14 pounds.

The big appeal of these kitties isn't only because of their good looks and plush coats. They're docile, affectionate, and some of the most laid-back companions you'll ever have. Slow to mature (around 3 to 4 years old), this is a breed guaranteed to be your cuddliest, biggest baby in the house—but if you have a big girl like Juni, she'd much rather nap, thank you very much!

Tiny Frenchie Named Maisie Couldn't Look Cuter in the Car Ride to Her Forever Home

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 8:55pm

There is nothing like that first car ride home when you are a puppy.

Though the puppy has no real concept of what is happening on a spiritual level, maybe they know they are beginning a new chapter.

In a new video from the account @mackgbowen, we see tiny French Bulldog puppy Maisie in the car, in her big pink bag (which is way too big for her at this point).

The caption reads, "Welcome home, Maisie!" and we know this is her journey to her forever home.

Though the little Frenchie is mostly chewing on the side of her bag, as puppies do, it is still a very special moment.

@mackgbowen

We're not sure how old Maisie is, but from her small size, she looks quite young.

In another video on the same account, we see the pup exploring her big yard. Looks like she is settling right into her new digs!

♬ som original - anix nerd1 Do Dogs Know Humans Are Their Parents?

The question when puppies get adopted by their human parents, do they understand what is happening?

Well, that is an interesting answer.

Dogs don’t cognitively understand the concept of parents, so no, they don’t think humans are their parents.

According to AnimalWised, when dogs are born, they know their canine mother is their mother only in terms of instincts: she feeds them and keeps them clean and safe (hopefully).

Related: Fashionista Frenchies in Designer Fits Judge Mom's Dog Walking Outfit

Then, with the humans who adopt them, dogs view them as significant companions whom they count on to take care of them and essentially keep them alive.

They pay close attention to the behaviors and signals of these humans because they instinctively know that people are their guardians.

So when little Maisie saw her parent for the first time, perhaps she did instinctively know that they would take care of her.

Tiny Dalmatian Puppy Gets the Hiccups and Looks Deeply Concerned About It

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 8:20pm

There is something about a tiny puppy having a brand-new experience that just gets you, and apparently, hiccups are at the top of that list. Because no one warned this little Dalmatian that her own body was about to start doing weird little “hic” interruptions out of nowhere. One second, she is just sitting there being soft and perfect, and the next… betrayal. You can literally see the moment it clicks that something is off.

And she does not freak out. No chaos. Just quiet concern. A little side-eye. A full “excuse me???” expression while she tries to process what is happening to her tiny life. She looks like she is personally offended by each hiccup, but also too polite to make a scene, and honestly, that makes it 10 times cuter.

@ceecuh

♬ Up - Piano Soundtrack - Oscar Castaño Chavez

The ridiculously cute clip, shared on TikTok by @ceecuh, shows baby Willow having what the caption calls “her first case of hiccups and side-eye,” which feels extremely accurate.

Each little hiccup hits, and she just kind of freezes, blinking, processing, absolutely unsure how to proceed with her day. At one point, she looks up like she is asking for help in the most polite, confused way possible.

“Mama… what’s happening?”

The commenters were fully in their feelings.

“She’s only one hiccup big.”

“Tiny. No thoughts. Just hiccup.”

“She looks so shy about her hiccups.”

Others were focused on the overwhelming cuteness of it all.

“I just know she smells good and is soooo soft.”

“Those tiny hiccups, omg, my heart.”

And honestly, yes. This is the kind of video you watch and immediately lose all ability to function for a minute.

Do Puppies Get Hiccups? Little Golden Retriever puppy.

Image Via: Martin Gardeazabal/Shutterstock

Yes, puppies get hiccups all the time, and it is actually very common, especially when they are young. It usually happens because of excitement, eating too fast, or just their little bodies still figuring out things out as they.

Unlike humans, though, you should not try things like scaring a puppy or making them drink water in weird ways to stop the hiccups. Their hiccups typically go away on their own and are not something to worry about unless they are constant or seem to be causing distress.

In most cases, it is just another one of those weird, adorable puppy phases.

And if it looks anything like Willow’s tiny, confused little hiccups, it might also be one of the cutest things you will ever see.

Labrador Retriever Goes Full Sneaky Mode While Stalking Her Boyfriend on a Walk

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 7:55pm

One of the best things about being a pet mom is getting to know your pet's personality, which is always so unique to them. And it can impact everything that comes with the daily life of pets—including how walks go.

In this video, we see that play out, true to form, when a silly but adorable Labrador Retriever turns into a totally different dog when she spots her boyfriend at the park. It's hilarious and very charming. Take a look!

On March 18, @kellynicole171 shared a video of their sweet Labrador, Koda, who spotted something that captured her attention. Yes, it was another dog, and she was in love.

Look at how adorable Koda is, hovering behind that post, ducking her head, and trying to take a peek around it while also hoping the ground swallows her up. Seeing her crush across the field with another girl dog, sweet Koda wanted to make sure she gathered everything she needed to see before she continued walking with her mom.

A Little About Labrador Retrievers

Koda seems like the sweetest dog, and she's very clearly intelligent, too. And that makes a lot of sense, given the typical temperament and personality of the Labrador.

According to the American Kennel Club, Labrador Retrievers are described as "active, friendly, [and] outgoing," and since they're part of the sporting group, they're also naturally alert, active, and well-rounded pups who are happy to put in the hard work. They also have a reputation for being "friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited."

Hopefully, Koda knows she’s loved and worthy of all that love and attention in return. We’re betting she does, even if her crush isn’t paying her any mind, because of how beautifully her mama is not rushing her through this moment.

This New Open Farm x Lifeway Collab is a Probiotic Powerhouse And My Pup Loves The Salmon

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 7:50pm

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Dog gut health is the latest hot topic in the pet wellness space. Brands are focusing on keeping a pup's gut microbiome balanced, which translates to an equally happy and healthy pup. At this point, a solid kibble isn't good enough on its own; it needs to have pre-, pro-, and postbiotics to achieve optimal pup performance.

Open Farm enters the conversation with their GoodGut kibble line. The product line emphasises optimal gut nutrition, with a vet-formulated line made in partnership with Lifeway™ CanineCulture™, which lent its 10-strain probiotic blend to the food, giving your pups 2 billion CFUs per pound.

Open Farm X Lifeway GoodGut Dog Kibble 3.5LB, $34.99 at Open Farm Pet

Open Farm

Shop It!

Open Farm is known for its high-quality pet food, so partnering with America's top kefir brand on a gut health-oriented dog food makes perfect sense and addresses dog parents' top concern. In fact, 70% of dog moms and dads say that they are most concerned about their pet's gut health. The brand also points out that #GutTok is more than just trending on everyone's favorite social media app. It has more than 1 billion views, which clearly demonstrates how important the topic is to today's pet parents.

It's a top concern in our household as well. Our German Shepherd has an interesting relationship with food. While he is motivated by just about any type, not all foods agree with his gut, so it is vital to us that his microbiome is supported at all times.

The GoodGut line is designed with that very goal in mind, balancing a dog's gut from puppyhood into adulthood. The 2 billion CFUs per pound of CanineCulture's 10-strain probiotic blend definitely does a lot of the heavy lifting.

The line is the design of Open Farm's Head of Veterinary Nutrition, Dr. Moran Tal-Gavriel, who is also one of the few board-certified veterinary nutritionists in North America. Dr. Tal-Gavriel creates a food that not only offers amazing benefits for pups' overall health but also tastes good.

Related: Wellness Pet Company Just Reimagined Dog Food, and It Doesn’t Need a Fridge

GoodGut comes in three single-protein recipes: Wild-Caught Salmon, Grass-Fed Beef, and Harvest Chicken. All ingredients are non-GMO, humanely raised, and sustainably sourced. The food is a blend of high-nutrient kibble with freeze-dried raw pieces scattered throughout.

Grizzly is one lucky pup and tried all three recipes. Unsurprisingly, he loves the Wild Salmon and wolfs it down as fast as his slow feeder will allow. The Grass-Fed Beef was also a big hit. The chicken wasn't his favorite, but his cousin gave it a try, and she absolutely adores it. To the point where she finishes her bowl and looks around for some more.

I love that it can be used as his main meal, a topper, and it makes a pretty handy high-value treat. Grizzlies' only complaint is that the kibble is on the smaller side, so his slow-feeder is able to efficiently do its job, making him take his time to grab up the final pieces from the recesses of the bowl. Though I love it because he can't inhale his food so easily, something tells me he'll survive.

Over the couple of weeks that he has been eating the food, his overall gut health has improved. His fur looks great, and even though we are heading into a heavy shed time, he doesn't seem nearly as shaggy as he did last year. Overall, it seems to have had a fairly positive effect on his overall health and well-being.

Why Does a Healthy Gut Matter?

While there's no denying there is a lot of discussion around gut health, you may be wondering why it matters in the long run.

“A healthy gut microbiome is central to nearly every system in the body,” said Dr. Tal-Gavriel in a press release. “With GoodGut, we focused on building a balanced, resilient foundation that supports digestion, nutrient absorption, immune health, and overall vitality, starting early and continuing through every life stage.”

Cornell's Richard P. Riney Canine Health Center points out that your dog's gut health also affects their overall mental health. So if your pup's gut is balanced, so will their mental and emotional state. In addition to improving their mental well-being, probiotics can also help treat conditions such as allergies, bad breath, coat quality, intestinal issues, skin issues, and urinary tract infections. They recommend anywhere from 1 to 10 billion CFUs per day, which falls within GoodGut's range.

If you're looking to make a change in your pup's diet and want to give Open Farm a try, you can find it on Openfarmpet.com and in pet stores throughout North America. It's available in a 3.5 and 19-pound bag.

Dramatic Dachshund Throws Theatrical Tantrum Over Having To Share With Family

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 7:20pm

When you have a dramatic dog, it's hard not to stop and laugh at whatever tantrum they're throwing to get their way. I have two pups, and while one prefers to stare at what he wants longingly until I cave from guilt, the other grunts and nudges me with her nose until I make the correct decision. It's in doggy DNA to communicate somehow, some way, and it's not always the way we expect.

In Dachshund Land, Finn wins this year's title as "Most Dramatic Fit Thrown By a Dog," and it's all because he's not interested in sharing his things... with his family. This is one funny boy who says SO much without ever speaking a word.

It's clear Finn isn't interested in being the best dog dad or life partner because those are his things, and his things alone. The feisty boy has become known for these little episodes, but to have a toddler tantrum over sharing is a little extra. This diva has no bounds for what he'll squabble over!

It's not only sharing beds and toys that gets Finn riled up. It can be anything, really. Like when he wants to go to bed but Mom's not ready yet—full-on tantrum.

Even by the already-adorable Dachshund standards, Finn is so cute, you almost forget he's being naughty. Such is the plight of any pet parent!

When you're a dog breed used to being courageous and independent badger hunters, you're bound to get a little theatrical from time to time. All that personality and tenacity Dachshunds have in their low-slung frames can sometimes translate to being stubborn, opinionated, and expressive. Finn just happens to vocalize his displeasure with funny silent tantrums!

Dachshunds and their hilarious wiggles are sassy little pups who border on exaggerated when they want to convey something they're not a fan of. Not all Doxies are like this, but mostly, yes, they are (IYKYK)! Finn doesn't want to share his things with his lady and children, and he's not going to sleep until everyone knows about it!

Bougie Orange Cat Gets Treated to Stay at 'The Plaza' Complete With a Bottle of Veuve

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 7:12pm

Some cats act like royalty in their own homes. Mango, an extremely handsome Orange cat, apparently decided that was no longer enough. In this wildly delightful video, he gets treated to the kind of birthday staycation most humans would happily accept, and honestly, he wears the luxury lifestyle better than most people ever could.

The video sets the tone immediately with the line, “when you treat your cat to a staycation at the plaza for his birthday,” and from there it only gets more fabulous. This is not a simple birthday treat. This is a full orange-cat takeover of an iconic hotel fantasy.

@mangotheqat

#spoiledcat #orangecat #cutecat #scottishfold #cathumor

♬ original sound - Tae&Glo👉🏽👈🏽🖤🖤

We see Mango being served a meal on real china while perched on a very fancy bed, looking completely at ease with the arrangement. Not confused. Not startled. Not even a little unsure. He looks like he has been expecting this level of service for years and is only mildly pleased that everyone finally caught up.

That is what makes the whole thing so funny. Mango is not just in a luxury setting. He belongs there in a way that feels almost ridiculous. Every little detail adds to the absurd charm of it all. The bed is elegant. The setup is polished. And then there is Mango, sitting there like a tiny orange celebrity on a private birthday retreat.

And just when you think the video has peaked, you see him next to a bottle of Veuve, looking so perfectly matched to the moment that it is almost suspicious. He truly looks like he was made for this life. Like he has strong opinions about room service, thread count, and whether the suite properly reflects his personal brand.

View this post on Instagram

That is part of why this works so well as internet content. It's not just a cute cat in a cute place. It is a full personality match. Mango’s whole vibe says luxury. He's bringing quiet confidence, a little vanity, and the exact level of dramatic elegance needed to sell the fantasy.

Orange cats are usually known for chaos, nonsense, and very questionable decisions. Mango has taken a different path. He said yes to glamour. Yes to presentation. Yes to birthday indulgence on a scale most of us can only dream about. And the result is one of those pet videos you immediately want to send to someone with the message, this is the standard now.

Because really, if your cat is going to have a birthday, why not let him live like the plush little icon he clearly believes he is?

Enrichment Can Be Glamorous Too

Mango’s birthday staycation is funny because it is over the top, but it also taps into something real about cats: they love comfort, novelty, and being treated like the center of the universe. Special experiences for pets do not have to mean luxury hotels, but they can mean cozy spaces, safe new environments, puzzle feeders, special treats, and a little extra attention built around what your cat actually enjoys. According to the ASPCA’s cat care guidance, enrichment, routine, and a comfortable environment all help support a cat’s well-being, and you can read more in their guide to cat care and behavior tips.

Honestly, Mango looked at that Plaza bed and that bottle of Veuve like he was one manicure away from asking the concierge to hold his calls.

Police K-9 Enjoying a Weekend Off With Pittie Bestie Redefines Happy Hour

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 6:10pm

There are countless reasons Belgian Malinois are chosen for police and military work. They’re agile, smart, fearless, and always ready to go. But even the most dedicated K-9 needs a day off with a best friend. And for Dembe, that means a weekend spent playing with his Pit Bull bestie, Mayleigh.

Even after a 20-hour shift, this good boy still had plenty of energy left for some fun. And their joy is absolutely contagious.

Watch their spirited play session unfold in this March 22 Instagram shared by Kimberly Sheridan (@kimberly_sheridan23):

View this post on Instagram

It sure looks like Dembe understands it’s finally the weekend and time to let loose. Much like people meeting up with friends after a long week for happy hour, this playful duo isn’t worried about anything except enjoying the moment. And while this hardworking Malinois has a serious job with his police officer dad, at home, he’s just a brother, and Mayleigh couldn’t be happier to have him back.

Fans loved watching every minute. Viewer @mannduni commented, “That K9 put a ‘governor’ on his speed so his buddy could keep up. Amazing.”

While @lewcycowboy added, “Awe, he could soooo catch her, but letting her lead the run. Fun times, thanks for sharing.”

Another noted, “Adorable. Priceless seeing a K-9 just being a dog playing with his sibling.”

This winter, Dembe and Mayleigh even spent snow days playing together, as seen in this January 25 Instagram:

View this post on Instagram Belgian Malinois Can Run Up to 30 Miles Per Hour

As fans pointed out, if he really wanted to, Dembe could easily catch up to his canine sister. Belgian Malinois are incredibly fast and athletic dogs, capable of reaching speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, according to Timberwolf Pet Foods

That kind of speed isn’t something they can maintain for long stretches, but it’s part of what makes them one of the fastest dog breeds in the world. Bred originally for herding, they’ve since become a top choice for police and military work thanks to their agility, endurance, intelligence, and quick response times.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

It’s a perfect example of how his athletic ability, paired with the breed’s intellect, allows him to adjust his pace rather than simply showing Mayleigh how fast he can go.

And moments like this are a good reminder that, underneath all that training, they still love to run, play, and simply be dogs.

18-Year-Old Senior Cat Looks Like a 'Well-Loved Teddy Bear' and We Can't Unsee It

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 6:10pm

I have a special place in my heart for senior pets. Older dogs and cats tend to have a spirit of gratitude and thrive on affection. My Dachshund is now 15 years old and she's most content when she's snuggled on my lap.

This 18-year-old gray cat clearly gets plenty of cuddles from his mom and is even compared to a well-worn stuffed animal.

In the TikTok from @sophiebri98, the adorable gray cat sat on the couch in a cozy blanket. His fluffy fur looked a little worn but well-kept, where some thought he resembled a beloved child's toy.

"Someone told me recently that my 18-year-old cat looks like a well-loved teddy bear," the onscreen text read as the pretty kitty enjoyed lots of hugs and kisses from his mom. "They weren't wrong."

Clips of the feline fur baby showed different angles of his ruffled fur, tousled from so much affection. The pretty kitty looked very content and secure, like a cat who knows how much he's loved.

Followers raved over the senior cat and noted his over-the-top cuteness.

"Oh my, he looks like a very loving comforting grandpa," one remarked.

"He's all mushy and cute," another gushed.

"I absolutely adore him. He is beautiful and looks so loved," a follower commented.

"I can't decide if I love his gorgeous eyes or his Puma face more — such a sweet baby," someone shared.

Tips for Parents of Senior Cats

Cats are considered seniors at 11 years of age. Some tips to keep your older cat healthy include:

Related: Maine Coon Cat's Crystal-Clear Blue Eyes Have People Asking If He's Real

  • Monitoring their weight and food intake so they are within a normal range.
  • Making sure they are well-hydrated every day.
  • Keeping plenty of soft and warm beds around.
  • Assisting in grooming if they can no longer do it themselves.
  • Keeping an eye on the litter box for any changes.
  • Assessing changes in behavior or physical issues, such as limping or lack of appetite.
  • Having regular 6-month checkups at the vet.

Exercise is also important for your cat to maintain optimum health. And as this gray cat beautifully demonstrates, giving your feline plenty of affection is key for your cat to thrive.

Gray Maine Coon Cat With the Face of a Human Has the Internet Smitten

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 5:24pm

Many cat lovers are sure their feline friends are more human than cat. Maine Coon Catfamilies often cite their cat’s human-like facial features as proof their furry family member is actually part person. While we’re fairly certain Maine Coon Cats are one hundred percent feline, the breed is known for its hauntingly familiar facial features that can feel like a mirror reflection of one’s self. A Maine Coon Cat recently appeared on social media (okay, it was his humans), and commenters are gasping at the cat’s face. This cat may be all feline, but he sure does look like he’s part person. Don’t you agree?

In a video that crossed our TikTok feed, a stunning gray Maine Coon Cat can be seen proudly perched on the living room coffee table, as cats are known to do. The Maine Coon’s eyes look slightly sleepy, and his pronounced jaw is giving him serious granddaddy vibes. If there were ever a cat making a case for the breed looking like people, it would be this gorgeous Maine Coon.

Viewers were quick to observe the cat’s human-like features, with one writing, “That’s a human face on a cat.”

“You look so distinguished and handsome with your one white whisker,” gushed another.

One more added, “The best kitty ever.”

Maine Coon Cats are known for their striking resemblance to humans thanks to their square-shaped heads and prominent cheekbones, which are similar to human facial structure. Maine Coon Cats are also known for their wide-set eyes, which give them a thoughtful—or in this case, “distinguished”—appearance often associated with people.

Dogs notoriously have a reputation for looking like their humans (or is it the other way around?), but this Maine Coon Cat is making a strong case for some seriously human-like vibes in these beautiful cats.

These Three Sibling Cats Insist on Sleeping Together No Matter How Cramped—and It’s Too Cute

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 4:55pm

Some cats like their space when it comes to other cats in the home. These three? Not even a little.

In a popular Reddit post on r/Bondedpairs, three black cat siblings have captured hearts for their insistence on squeezing into the same tiny sleeping spot, no matter how impractical it looks. Whether it’s a small cat bed or a single perch on a cat tree, they somehow manage to pile on top of each other, creating the most adorable cuddle puddle ever.

They’ve Been Inseparable From the Start

According to their cat parent, these three are part of a rescued litter that was found living under temporary construction offices in Spain. While some workers cared for them, others reportedly wanted them gone, so their now-guardian stepped in.

One by one—and eventually with the help of a trap for the more skittish kittens—the cats were brought to safety. The Reddit poster adopted all seven of the kittens, giving them a secure, loving home.

Now approaching three years old, the trio has formed an especially tight bond. “These 3 are inseparable,” the cat parent shared in the post, noting that while there are other cats from the litter, these three are the ones who are almost always glued together.

Viewers Are Completely Obsessed

Naturally, the internet fell in love with this adorable trio.

“First photo looks like a cat-themed Cerberus. Purrberus,” one person joked in the comment section.

Another added, “Oh my gosh…I love these void biscuits so much.”

Others shared their own theories, suggesting the cats might find comfort in being packed together like they were as kittens.

Why Cats Cuddle Like This

While every cat is different, bonded siblings often retain strong social connections into adulthood, especially if they were raised together from a young age.

Sleeping close together can provide warmth, comfort and a sense of security. It’s also a sign of trust. Cats are most vulnerable when they sleep, so choosing to pile together is a clear indication they feel safe with one another.

In this case, it’s also just really, really cute.

This Abandoned Tiny Kitten Found His Hero, and the Snuggles Won’t Stop

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 4:48pm

There’s something powerful about being chosen by an animal that had every reason to stay afraid. One moment you think it is just another day, and the next you have a tiny baby animal glued to you and refusing to let go. For that furry friend, you feel like their forever home.

In a viral video shared on the social media platform Reddit, we see a tiny kitty finding his forever human and refusing to let go.

What started as a quick stop on the road turned into the sweetest story. The kitten was alone and vulnerable, small enough to fit in one hand. That is the type of kitty that makes you instinctively slow down and pick them up.

quick start up question
by u/Headacher in chromeos

In this case, the kitten clung to his rescuer, remained close, followed him around and refused to let go.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

Most cat fans talked about how this is fate. They talked about how the kitty has chosen his future parent, saying things like, “You have been chosen. Accept your fate!” and “Cats have been choosing humans for millennium. They know what they're doing. Go with it, you won't be disappointed.”

Related: Bonded Cat Brothers Refuse to Be Apart—and It's Pure Love

There were also funny comments about the "cat distribution system." These Redditors talked about how the guy needs to pick up the kitty and give him a forever home. They said things like, “The cat distribution has spoken. You are the chosen one. Please enjoy your new cat and spoil him rotten."

Why Some Kittens Bond So Quickly

Kittens don’t just randomly attach themselves to humans. There’s a reason moments like these happen.

Early in life, kittens go through a sensitive socialization period. During this time, they learn who is safe, who provides comfort and where they belong.

If a human steps in at the right moment, especially when the kitten feels vulnerable, their bond can form fast.

Warmth, gentle handling and a calm voice can be enough to flip a switch from “survival mode” to “this is my person.”

During this period, a kitten might walk past several people and climb into one person’s lap and stay there. It is not random. They are attuned to body language and energy, drawn to softness and stillness. A person who moves slowly and speaks gently might feel the safest to them.

As it appears in this video, once kittens make their choice, they become incredibly loyal, following their chosen person like a determined shadow and not letting go.

Golden Retriever Is 'Visibly Upset' Leaving Grandma's and His Sneer Says It All

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 4:45pm

Getting picked up unexpectedly early from somewhere fun? Nobody likes that. Echo the Golden Retriever? He's especially not having it.

There's a TikTok where Echo's at grandma's house, presumably living his best life, when the worst possible thing happens: mom shows up early.

The caption reads "Tell this woman to scram please!" which pretty much sums up Echo's entire mood.

The video's captioned "When mom picks you up early from grandma's house," and Echo's reaction is everything you'd expect from someone whose good time just got ruined.

Grandma announces: "Your mom's here."

Echo's face? Pure and utter betrayal. The look he gives is what people in the comments are calling "stank face" and to be perfectly honestly, they are not wrong. Echo is visibly not happy with mom’s early arrival.

The dubbed-over dialogue captures what's probably exactly going through his head about the early pickup situation, and he doesn’t have anything nice to say.

People in the comments immediately related.

"Told you I'll call you when I'm ready to come home, mum," somebody wrote from Echo's perspective.

"I told you I'll call when I'm ready to go home," I dont know why buy I definitely hear it this comment in Napoleon Dynamite font.

Related: Shih-Tzu Who Legit Looks Like a 'Living Teddy Bear' Is Stealing Hearts Everywhere

"Please just five more minutes," the universal child’s plea when the fun police arrive.

"The stank face 😭😭" because that expression deserves t be called out.

Echo's sitting there giving mom this look that clearly communicates he did NOT approve this early departure. He had plans. Grandma time is sacred time. Mom just showing up three minutes ahead of schedule absolutely ruined everything in Echo’s mind.

Golden Retrievers Are Naturally Friendly Dogs Who Love Making Everyone Happy

Here's the thing about Golden Retrievers that makes Echo's attitude so funny: they're typically the most easy-going, people-pleasing dogs around. They're calm, loving, incredibly smart, and usually want nothing more than to make their humans happy.

Goldens are naturally warm with pretty much everyone. Kids, other pets, strangers—they treat everyone like a al friend they haven’t met yet. They're not big barkers and aren’t suspicious of people. Some Retrievers will alert you when someone they don’t know is at the door, but mostly they're greeting strangers like long-lost buddies.

That eagerness to please is why they're so good at training and why they're top choices for service work. They genuinely want to do what you ask.

So when a Golden Retriever gives you attitude? When they give you that look that says "I'm not happy about this situation"? That's something you should definitely take heed of. That's above and beyond.

Echo sitting there with that sneer, clearly communicating his displeasure about leaving grandma's early? That's a Golden Retriever breaking character. That's a normally cheerful, agreeable dog deciding that no, actually, this specific thing is unacceptable and he’s preety irate.

Mom showed up at 3:07 instead of 3:10. Those three minutes made a huge difference to Echo. And he wants her to know it.

The stank face says everything.

Mom’s 'Well-Behaved' Yorkie Is Actually a Tiny, Snarling Tasmanian Devil

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 2:55pm

Every dog mom thinks their dog is well-behaved. It is part of the job. You say it confidently. You believe it in your heart. You ignore all evidence to the contrary. And then sometimes… the dog immediately disproves you in real time.

That is exactly what is happening here, and honestly, I respect the confidence.

@rosezhae

Do you think Yorkie is well behaved?#tino #petsoftiktok #viral #pets #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp

♬ suara asli - Gado-Gado Semesta (Gagas) - Visnarey

The chaotic masterpiece was posted on the TikTok account @rosezhae, and it starts with the dog mom calmly introducing her Yorkie, Tino, to the world.

“Hello everyone, it’s me and Tino. Tino is very excited to say hi to everyone. Tino is a well-behaved Yorkie…”

And from there, things unravel immediately.

Related: 5-Ounce Yorkie Puppy Is So Small, He Could Be Mistaken for a Mouse

Because while she is saying all of this, Tino is actively losing his mind. Twisting, flailing, attempting to escape her arms like a tiny, furry tornado who has absolutely no interest in being perceived as “well-behaved.”

He is not sitting. He is not posing. He is not helping.

He is… spiraling.

Like a full Tasmanian Devil situation. A blur. A concept. A warning.

The people in the comments did not hold back.

“Girl, do Tino know you?”

“Tino says I have never behaved a day in my life.”

“Is the well-behaved Yorkie named Tino in the room?”

And then the brutally honest ones.

“That’s a gremlin, not a Yorkie.”

“Yorkie and well-behaved never go in the same sentence.”

One person summed it up perfectly.

“That’s a Tasmanian Yorkie.”

And honestly, yes. That is the official breed now.

Why Small Dogs Have Such Big Attitudes @momof3hellyons

Small dog big attitude! #smalldog #smalldogsoftiktok #bigattitude #fiesty

♬ original sound - Muneeb

Small dogs are famous for having personalities that feel about 10 sizes bigger than their bodies. Breeds like Yorkies were originally bred to be alert, bold, and fearless, which means that confidence can sometimes come out as… a lot.

They tend to be vocal, expressive, and very aware of their surroundings, which is why they often react to everything from strangers to suspicious leaves blowing across the yard.

I can confirm this personally. Our Pomeranian fully believes he is a large, intimidating guard dog. He barks at everything, stands his ground, and carries himself like he is in charge of national security.

So when you see a tiny dog like Tino acting like a chaotic little whirlwind, it is not bad behavior.

It is just a very big personality in a very small, very loud package.

Golden Retriever Puppy Is Clearly a 'Big Movie Buff' and It's Total Cuteness Overload

Mon, 03/23/2026 - 2:32pm

The life of a puppy seems like a pretty sweet one — eating, naps, playtime, and repeat. When dogs are new to the world, they need a lot of sleep as their brains and bodies keep developing at a very high speed, but during their waking hours, it's all about exploring their new home and everything that came with it.

And as far as the Golden Retriever puppy in the video below goes, that also includes discovering a new favorite movie.

@goldenskyenyc

Big movie buff 🍿 #goldenpuppy #nycpup #goldenretriever

♬ original sound - Skye the Golden | NYC Puppy

Skye the puppy is completely locked in to what's playing on the TV in front of her — it's like she can't help but stare at the screen! It probably also helps that she is on a comfy couch and snuggling her teddy bear, though.

She's so focused on the TV that she's barely even blinking as she keeps her eyes glued to the screen, and as her mom explained in a comment, the movie she's watching is Jurassic World. It may not be as good as the original movies in the franchise as far as many fans are concerned, but that doesn't seem to matter much to Skye.

All she needs is popcorn and she's set for the night!

Do Dogs Actually Watch TV?

There have been plenty of times I've caught my dog plopped down in front of the living room TV, seemingly totally captivated by whatever is on the screen and a look on her face as if she's actually following the plot of the movie or show she's watching. But how much of that is humans projecting onto their dogs and how much are dogs actually comprehending what they're watching?

According to PetMD, plenty of dogs actually watch TV and enjoy it, even if they're not following what's happening the same way that we humans do. Supposedly, their favorite types of shows and movies are featuring live animals, which kind of adds up when it comes to Jurassic World. The dinosaurs do look pretty realistic!

It's also more likely that your dog enjoys watching TV when you're around, too, because then it's an experience they can share with their human. Is that not the cutest thing ever?

Once again, we do not deserve dogs... and they deserve all the animal shows that we can find for them!
