If you've never seen a Wirehaired Dachshund like Charlie until now, welcome to the fan club! The lesser-known breed isn't exactly rare, but they're not as common as other Dachshunds. They resemble other breeds (like Miniature Goldendoodles) thanks to their scruffy hair and long ears that look like a Poodle's pigtails.

With expressive faces and huge, plush paws like a polar bear, they certainly look like they belong to another dog group entirely. Well, if it wasn't for their size, which gives them away.

Both my dogs love their plush toys. My Dachshund actually hides several of them from her Pug brother so she can snuggle with them when she naps. She's very strategic when it comes to stuffies.

In the TikTok from @wally.meets.world, the gorgeous Golden was practically asleep yet still had his new toy in his mouth. It was like he considered the new plushie, which looked like a toy apple, as a part of himself. Maybe it provided him comfort, or he was making sure no one would steal it. Either way, Wally definitely felt a kinship with the squishy toy.

When his dad tried to pull the toy out of Wally's mouth as he dozed, the persistent pooch held on to the object and refused to let go. Finally, his dad gently removed the toy despite a sleepy whimper from Wally.

Followers were charmed by Wally's devotion to the stuffed apple, with some relating to that strong an attachment.

TikTok user @george_thegoldenboy shared a video of what was supposed to be a fun day at the beach with her young Golden Retriever. The two were hanging out on the sand, but Mom was stressed, and when she turned the camera to George, the Golden Boy, it became very clear why she was struggling a little. 

George is lying down in the sand, not enjoying the sights and sounds of the beach but doing his very best to eat all the sand.

Why Vets Warn Against Dogs Eating Sand and the Risks Pet Parents Should Know

George is just a baby, so he doesn't know much yet, but his mama is probably stressed out since vets warn against dogs eating sand. 

According to Gulf Coast Veterinary Center, dogs are at risk of a condition called "sand impaction," which can occur when they swallow sand. They explain that this condition occurs when sand accumulates in a pup's digestive tract, leading to a blockage. Some symptoms include loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. 

Dogs aren't designed to digest sand, so when some accumulates in the stomach or intestines after ingesting it, the sand can form a hard mass that blocks a pup's intestinal function, which could lead to a perforation, which is very serious. But that's not the only potential risk from sand; dogs may also experience electrolyte imbalances and dehydration, discomfort, and/or abdominal pain, even without a blockage. 

Gulf Coast Veterinary Center offers some ways to help prevent sand impaction, including providing fresh water, which can help dilute any sand that might be ingested, monitoring their eating habits, keeping a close eye on them when they're playing at the beach, and if you notice any symptoms or your dog isn't being their typical self after a beach visit, it's always good to check in with your veterinarian. 

Hopefully, George has learned his lesson after being redirected several times at the beach with his mama, so they can continue to build the best memories out in the sun.

There's a moment when a dog realizes getting off the sofa requires effort, and then there's the moment when that dog decides… absolutely not. That's exactly where this very round Chow Chow puppy lands, and once you see it, you understand the decision completely.

The adorable clip was posted by @bunglebear4, and it shows the puppy attempting to dismount the sofa before immediately sliding off like gravity just took over. I will say: This is very familiar behavior. My Maine Coon, Meatball, does the same thing when he's somewhere he absolutely should not be, like the kitchen counter, and instead of climbing down, he just rolls. Full commitment. No awareness of size. Just… gravity handles it. It never ends well, but it never stops him either.

Niall Harbison never gives up on a dog. He helps street dogs suffering from illness, abuse, and trauma through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, and gives every dog he finds a chance at recovery.

Rocky is one of those canines that needs lots of support, and Harbison is up for the challenge. The senior dog was abandoned due to his failing health and longed for human touch. Thankfully, Harbison was called in.

Harbison immediately took Rocky for medical attention, where tests revealed he has glaucoma causing his blindness, blood parasites, skin issues, and pressure on his organs. Though Rocky acted a bit aggressively when Harbison first rescued him, the senior dog was defensive due to fear. Harbison spent time with Rocky and saw that the pooch actually loved being spoken to and held.

Rocky was in such poor shape that it was hard to tell if recovery was possible. Yet after a few days at Happy Doggo, the sweet canine is beginning to let his guard down and shows signs of healing.

"I think you can see from his whole body language, his wagging tail, and how hungry he is that this is a dog that very much wants to live," Harbison explained in the caption from the Instagram video from @niall.harbison.

Rocky Is a Fighter

Harbison has Rocky on a comfortable schedule of nutritious food, rest, and affection.

"Every day we have a little routine where I change his bandana and bring him some smoked salmon and poached chicken," the Happy Doggo founder shared. "It's a little boy's picnic and it's the most magical time."

Rocky has already grown accustomed to Harbison's voice and is feeling at home at the rescue. No matter how long it takes, Harbison is committed to being right by the pooch's side during every step of his healing journey.

"We're slowly getting towards a stage where we might be able to do more for him with his eyes, but there's no rush on that because he has so many ailments," the caption noted. "What I am noticing is that he's fantastic at navigating around using my voice, the smell of food, and by learning the different types of grass and trees in his small area."

Harbison concluded the post by adding, "A truly special little creature is Mr. Rocky."

Baby reindeer, also known as calves, are surprisingly capable right from the start, even if they look a little… unfinished at first.

Birds are some of the smartest species on the planet, and as it turns out, they're also big music buffs. Animal advocate Joey Graceffa shared the story of the mama dog, whom he saw on the euthanasia list at his local shelter. He immediately sprang into action to bring her home.

The precious pooch was huddled in her kennel when Joey arrived. Her large belly made it clear that her litter would be born very soon. The stress in her sweet eyes was clearly visible as she nervously left the shelter.

As soon as he brought her back to his house, she cowered in the corner out of fear.

"You could just tell she had a lot of anxiety and she had clearly been through a lot in her life," Graceffa remarked as he tried carefully petting the pooch. "Earning her trust is going to take some work but I'm up for the challenge."

First, we meet Freya, who is nearly all white with bright blue eyes, and we see that she has three friends behind her who all look different. Surprisingly, those three are all related. And all four are the same dog breed, despite looking so different from one another.

How Genetics Can Make Dogs From the Same Family Look Completely Different

Freya is such a gorgeous dog, and so are her siblings, but it's interesting how different they all look, thanks to genetics and the various coat colors and markings common in the Yakutian Laika.

According to the American Kennel Club, the Yakutian Laika can have seven different coat variations and three different markings and still be genetically related. The site explains that colors include brown and white, like Freya, white, white and black, black and white, gray and white, white and gray, or white and red. In addition, their markings can include black, tricolored, or buff markings in all the above colors. 

That's why Freya and her siblings can all be of the same breed, even the same family, and look so different. Genetics are cool, and so is the Yakutian Laika.
