Thu, 09/10/2026 - 12:24pm

One of the most dramatic, key astrological, cosmic events of 2026 is this year’s Venus retrograde. Starting in Scorpio and ending in Libra, this Venus retrograde is sure to shake up our understanding of love, relationships, and money.

What Is Venus Retrograde in Astrology?

Let’s clarify the meaning of Venus Retrograde in astrology. What happens during a Venus Retrograde? Venus Retrograde occurs only once every 18 months and can significantly impact our relationships, love lives, and financial matters. Venus is the planet that governs love, attraction, luxury, and resources; it relates to all things we desire. During its retrograde, Venus appears to move backward from our perspective on Earth. This period marks a spiritual and reflective journey concerning our longings, desires, connections, and self-worth. The retrograde phase typically lasts about 40 days.

  • Venus enters the pre-shadow period of the retrograde on August 31, 2026, at 22°52′ Libra

  • Venus exits the post-shadow period of the retrograde on December 15, 2026, at 8° 29′ Scorpio
How To Navigate Venus Retrograde 2026

During the 41 days of Venus retrograde, it’s important to avoid starting new initiatives in love, relationships, and finances. Instead, focus on closing old chapters and allowing past cycles to come to an end before starting new ones. This period encourages us to slow down, which is a powerful yet often overlooked tool. Rather than automatically agreeing to do things the same way as before or speaking impulsively, practice saying, “I need time to think this over.”

Pay attention to any relationship or career issues that arise, and approach them with curiosity, open communication, and patience. The confusion this retrograde brings will often resolve itself during the post-shadow period. During the retrograde, avoid trying to solve problems right away; instead, surrender to the universe’s timing. Being present and acknowledging your emotions will be much more beneficial than forcing premature resolutions.

With this year’s Venus retrograde occurring in Scorpio and Libra, there are zodiac-sign-based astrological insights and a collective horoscope to keep in mind. Read on to discover more.

Venus Retrograde in Scorpio

Beginning on October 3, 2026, Venus will begin its retrograde in Scorpio. During this transit, we will reevaluate issues related to intimacy, soul ties, sexuality, and trauma surrounding money and relationships. As a Water sign, Scorpio is intuitive and perceptive, driving us to uncover deeper truths. This may lead to an obsession with unraveling mysteries about our crushes, clarifying uncertainties in our financial relationships, and clinging to outdated patterns of emotional control. To embrace the transformative power of Scorpio Venus, we need to surrender and allow for greater ease in our lives. This process requires us to trust our gut instincts, engage in self-reflection, and recognize that the only path out of darkness is through it. We must release power struggles to achieve true empowerment.

Venus Retrograde in Libra

During the latter part of Venus’ retrograde, the planet of love will move backward, back into its previous zodiac sign, Libra, on November 13, 2026. Venus in Libra teaches us about diplomacy and charm, showing us that a personable, classy approach can help us achieve life’s greatest rewards. However, while Venus is retrograde in Libra, we are urged to reflect on the negative aspects of superficiality, people-pleasing, and losing our voice due to the influence of others’ opinions. Resentments that have built up from keeping quiet for too long will come to the surface, demanding expression. We’re encouraged to be open and honest, defending our autonomy, needs, and viewpoints. To navigate this transit with greater ease, we must remember that kindness does not equate to being a doormat.

After years of being social media-less, Jennifer Lawrence has finally made her Instagram debut.

On September 10, 2026, the 36-year-old actress uploaded a video to the social media platform, and it was as chaotic and hilarious as fans expected.

“So, yeah, I am givin it a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately, no questions asked,” Lawrence says in the IG reel. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know. And I’ll quit.”

Within two hours of joining Instagram, Lawrence hit the 1 million followers mark, and that count is expected to keep rising.

In a separate Instagram story, Lawrence reiterated what she meant by mean comments, writing, “Please be mindful that any mean and aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It’s me. I’m the baby.”

Previously, Lawrence shared that while she did not have a public profile, she was on social media secretly.

“I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak,” she told InStyle. “There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything. I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me.”

While Lawrence is finally on Instagram, fans should not expect to see her two children with her husband, Cooke Maroney, on the social media platform. Previously, the Hunger Games star opened up about keeping her kids out of the public eye.

“I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence,” she said in an interview with Motherly. “And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

She continued, “I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence,” she said. “And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

Kate Middleton’s Surprise Appearance With Prince William Comes Amid Royal Family Drama

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 12:07pm

Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance alongside her husband Prince William today!

Her outing to Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool marked the first time that the Princess of Wales has stepped out in public since she went on summer break—and since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their shock return to the UK.

However neither Kate nor William betrayed any sign of stress that the Sussexes’ return may have caused.

Kate wore a beautiful cornflower blue pantsuit by Edeline Lee that she wore earlier this year in Italy, a trip that marked her first international solo trip since she underwent treatment for cancer two years ago.

In Liverpool today Kate accessorized her look with the chunky chain necklace that she was pictured in earlier this week when she and William accompanied their oldest son Prince George to his first day at Eton.

Originally only William was scheduled to appear at the launch of a new suicide prevention ‘toolkit’ with Everton Football Club, but in the end he was joined by Kate for the engagement on World Suicide Prevention Day.

Yesterday William was in Oslo for the funeral of King Harald V, on until his death on August 28 was Europe’s oldest reigning monarch at 89 years old.

He was joined in Norway by Princess Anne, but Kate stayed at home to as it was the same day that the couple’s two youngest children started back at school.

Princess Charlotte (11) and Prince Louis (7) are students at Lambrook School, which costs around $14,000 per year.

Meanwhile Eton, where their 13-year-old brother and future king George has officially enrolled as a boarder, costs $84,000 per year.

During this busy week for the Wales family, the royal family drama that has surrounded Harry and Meghan’s return continues to simmer.

On Monday Buckingham Palace circulated a letter on behalf of King Charles III re-clarifying that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no longer working members of the royal family.

“In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests,” the letter said.

It also confirmed that Harry and Meghan’s HRH status is in abeyance, meaning that they may not be styled as His or Her Royal Highness.

The Sussexes gave up their HRH status after they moved to California six years ago.

A source close to Harry and Meghan told People that the couple was “surprised” not to have been warned about the letter in advance.

Shortly after the letter was circulated, Uganda announced that it was withdrawing from Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, which are due to be held in the UK in 2027.

A source told ITV News that the prince is blaming Uganda’s decision on his father’s decision to circulate the letter to the media.

“Intended or unintended, this is clearly a consequence of the Lord Chamberlain’s guidance regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that was rushed out without consultation on Monday,” the source said.

“Sadly, the only people who will suffer are the Invictus Games competitors.”

It is not yet known where in the UK Harry and Meghan are living with their children Prince Archie (7) and Princess Lilibet (5) but it is widely thought that they are currently residing in the Cotswolds region.

Today was also the day that Archie and Lilibet started at their new British schools.

A source told People that the couple has been “really busy getting the kids settled.”

They went on, “Their focus has been on that, and will remain on that, for the time being. They are happy to be back.”

8 Secret Hacks for Scoring the Freshest Bakery Items at Costco

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 12:04pm

If you are looking for the best ways to score the freshest bakery items at Costco, there are a few smart strategies worth knowing. Like any trip to the wholesale giant, most shoppers want to get the best value and highest quality products available, whether they are shopping for baked goods, fresh desserts or basic sandwich bread.

One major advantage you can take advantage of with an upgraded membership is early store access, which allows you to browse before the crowds and pick from the freshest batches of baked goods. This is often why shoppers upgrade their memberships—early entry can mean newly stocked items and having the first choice of the day’s bakery selection.

However, not everyone has access to these perks, and arriving early is not always an option for everyone. The good news? There are still plenty of ways to find fresh bakery items at Costco without relying on premium membership benefits.

With a little planning and the right timing, you can consistently walk away with high-quality baked goods. Here are eight simple, reliable tips that make it easy to shop smarter and bring home the freshest bakery items Costco has to offer.

Secret Hacks for Fresh Costco Bakery Items

This is how you can shop smarter in the Costco bakery section.

1. Go early in the day.

No matter when you visit the bakery department at your local Costco, the staff is typically there working early each morning to get fresh products out for customers. That makes the early hours your best opportunity to shop. Heading to the store while they are doing morning prep usually means the best selection is available before the lunch rush starts to roll in.

By arriving early, you gain first pick of freshly baked breads, pastries and other treats straight from the oven. The shelves are fully stocked, the aisles are less crowded and the quality is at its peak. If you want the freshest baked goods and the widest variety, make morning shopping part of your Costco routine if you can.

2. Ask which items were baked today.

Sometimes a simple conversation with a staff member in the bakery department goes a long way. Asking a quick question to the bakery staff can help you find the freshest cake, bread or pastry batch available that day. The employees know exactly when items were baked, which treats are still warm, and which ones are about to be marked down or replaced.

A friendly question like “What just came out of the oven?” or “What is the freshest item today?” may point you toward the best Costco bakery options on the shelves.

3. Check the newest date on the package.

For packaged bakery items, the most recent sell-by date is usually your best clue for freshness. When browsing shelves filled with wrapped breads, rolls, cakes and pastries, take a moment to compare the dates printed on each package. The date that is furthest out typically means the product was made most recently and has the longest shelf life ahead of it.

Items with sooner sell-by dates may still be safe to eat, but they are often closer to losing their peak texture and flavor. By scanning the packages and choosing the one with the latest date, you can bring home bakery goods that stay fresh longer and taste better. It is a quick habit that takes only seconds, but it makes a noticeable difference in quality.

4. Look for items that are still warm or just set out.

Freshly placed goods are often the closest to peak texture and taste, especially when it comes to breads and pastries. When bakery staff restock the shelves with items straight from the oven or prep area, those products are at their absolute best. The crust on a fresh loaf of bread has the right snap, the inside of a croissant stays soft and airy, and pastries hold their flaky, tender layers.

As baked goods sit out, they slowly lose moisture, firm up and lose the qualities that make them special. Spotting freshly placed items is easy when you know what to look for. Warm packaging, soft textures and a noticeable aroma are all signs that something was just set out. Choosing these items means every bite delivers the quality you expect.

5. Buy frozen bakery items when possible.

Some Costco bakery goods are sold frozen, and those items can be a smart way to get fresher results at home while saving money. Items like dinner rolls, croissants and danishes often come frozen, which means they were freshly prepared and then quickly stored to lock in quality.

With frozen items, instead of buying fully baked goods that may sit on the shelf for a day or more, you bake them at home on your own schedule. This gives you that warm, just-out-of-the-oven texture and taste whenever you want it. Frozen bakery items also tend to cost less per serving, making them a budget-friendly choice for families or anyone who likes to stock up. You control the portion size too, so you can bake only what you need and save the rest for another time.

6. Order ahead if you need a specific item.

If a bakery item is not on the shelf, asking about frozen or special-order options can get you a fresher batch later. Many bakery departments keep extra inventory in the freezer or have the ability to place a custom order with their suppliers. When you do not see what you are looking for, a quick conversation with a staff member may open the door to options you might not know existed at Costco.

They can check the back, set aside frozen stock for you or arrange a special order that arrives at peak freshness. Special orders are especially useful for cakes, large bread loaves and seasonal treats that sell out quickly. Instead of settling for whatever is left on display, you walk away with a product made closer to the time you actually need it.

7. Use the freezer for extras right away.

If you buy more than you need, freezing bakery items soon after purchase helps lock in texture and flavor. Bakery goods begin losing quality the moment they leave the shelf, as exposure to air slowly dries them out and changes their consistency. By freezing items quickly, you pause that process and keep them tasting close to the day you bought them. Breads, rolls, pastries and even sliced cake all freeze well when wrapped properly.

Use airtight bags or containers, and remove as much air as possible before sealing. For the best results, slice bread before freezing so you can thaw only what you need. When you are ready to enjoy, let the bakery item thaw at room temperature or warm it briefly in the oven. This simple habit cuts down on waste and keeps your favorite treats tasting fresh even if you can’t eat them ASAP.

8. Choose simple breads and core bakery staples.

Costco’s bread and basic bakery items are often the best bets for freshness and value because they are among the store’s strongest bakery offerings. Staples like sandwich bread, dinner rolls, bagels and tortillas usually move quickly off the shelves, which means the bakery constantly restocks them with fresh batches. That fast turnover works in your favor, giving you products that were likely baked or packed within the last day or two.

Because these items are produced in large volumes, the prices stay low compared to smaller stores or specialty bakeries. You get dependable quality without paying a premium. The simplicity of basic bakery goods also means fewer additives and a longer window of peak freshness at home. Whether you are feeding a family or stocking the freezer, Costco’s everyday bread and bakery staples combine freshness, consistency and savings in a way that is hard to beat.

The Difference Between the ‘Packed-On’ and the ‘Sell-By’ Date

If you’ve ever stood in the Costco bakery aisle staring at two different dates on the same package, you’re not alone. The packed-on date is simply when the item was wrapped up fresh that day, while the sell-by date is the last day the store plans to display it. Costco keeps that window short—usually just two to four days—so by the time you get it home it’s still in great shape.

And remember that the sell-by date is not an expiration date. In most cases, your bakery items are perfectly good for several more days in the fridge, or you can freeze them for later.

What Is the ‘Cookie Dough Box Trick’?

If you love Costco’s bakery cookies as much as we do, this little hack is about to change your freezer situation. Instead of grabbing the 24-pack of already baked cookies, you can ask a bakery employee for a bulk box of the frozen, unbaked cookie dough they use to make them. You get 120 pre-portioned pucks for about $23 to $25, which comes out to roughly 20 cents a cookie instead of closer to 50 cents. Keep the dough stashed in the freezer and bake however many you want whenever the craving hits. Availability is hit or miss, so it’s worth calling your store ahead of time to see if it offers cookie dough this way.

'Doctor Who' Star Noel Clarke Formally Hit With Six Disturbing Charges Over Alleged Sexual Abuse Claims

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 12:00pm

Actor Noel Clarke, best known for his starring role in the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who, has been officially charged for alleged sexual offenses in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC.

The six specific charges include two counts of sexual assault, three charges of voyeurism and one charge of exposure. The date of the alleged offenses range from 2007 to 2016, involving five separate women.

As per the BBC, the Crown Protection Service recently allowed the Metropolitan Police to formally charge the 50-year-old Clarke in connection to the reported offenses.

“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so,” the CPS said in an official statement earlier this week.

Clarke has yet to respond to the charges. He is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 21 of this year at 10:00 BST.

Of the case, Det. Supt. Mike Cagney, whose team is spearheading the investigation, said, “The women connected to these charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers.”

“We urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to contact police,” Cagney continued. “The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity and we have trained investigators on hand to support you.”

As viewers might recall, Clarke is best known for his on-screen role as the Doctor Who regular character Mickey Smith. Initially portrayed as the love interest to Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, Mickey eventually becomes the unlikely companion to Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor and David Tennant’s fan-favorite Tenth Doctor.

Appearing with the revival series’ first episode in 2005, Clarke’s final appearance on Doctor Who came in 2010. In addition to Doctor Who, he is also known for appearing in Kidulthood, Adultood, Brotherhood and Bulletproof, among others.

1970 Country Rock Song, Written by Graham Nash, Is Still a Generational Hit 58 Years Later

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 12:00pm

It took some time for Graham Nash to develop one of his country rock ballads between being a member of the Hollies and moving to America, but it became one of his most recognized generational hits.

“Teach Your Children” was born from Nash’s own beliefs on justice and teaching the youth about how to deal with humanity. He first started writing the track in 1968, in the final weeks of him still being a member of the Hollies in the UK. According to Guitar Player, he explained having been doing back-to-back gigs with the band and had stayed at a hotel in Leeds.

At the time, he admits to having been doing drugs and wrote one entire track, “Lady of the Island,” and half of “Teach Your Children.” It wasn’t until he left the Hollies, moved to America, and began working with David Crosby and Stephen Stills that he was inspired to finish the song.

The Hollies ultimately never ended up recording an official version of the song, and it was initially recorded for the album Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1969. In 1970, the group released a more enhanced version for their Déjà Vu album. That version would land them at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and at No. 28 on the Adult Contemporary chart. While moving to the States is what inspired Nash to finish “Teach Your Children,” he was also moved by a photograph.

An avid photographer himself, Nash had lent a Diane Arbus photo, Boy in Central Park with Hand Grenade, to a gallery exhibit in Santa Clara, California. He was moved having seen the photograph next to one by Alfred Krupp, and it sparked inspiration.

“They had put a picture of [Alfred] Krupp, of the German arms magnate family that provided all of the German war material for World War I and II, right next to the Diane Arbus shot of the seven-year-old boy with a grenade,” he said.

“I realized right there that we had better start teaching our children better; otherwise, civilization was in jeopardy. That was it. I went back and finished what I’d started in England.”

Nash also recalls knowing it was going to be a hit, but Stills had a suggestion that truly made the track worthwhile. Stills thought it was a “very interesting” song, but thought Nash sounded like Henry VII and that it was “too stately, too English.” Stills soon picked up his guitar and began playing in a “beautiful picking pattern that made him so distinctive” and gave the song a “gentle flow.”

“Teach Your Children” did well on the charts, with Nash commenting, “It’s a song that has spanned generations. It’s certainly a beautiful-sounding record, but I think it also contains a valuable message, and that’s why I wrote it in the first place. It was relevant then, and it’s just as meaningful now.”

Pappy Van Winkle’s Coveted Bourbon Collection Is Back For 2026 — Here’s How Much Each Bottle Will Cost

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:58am

Bourbon fans, it’s time to start looking. The Van Winkle family has officially announced the return of its highly anticipated 2026 Van Winkle Whiskey Collection, bringing six sought-after bourbon and rye whiskeys to retailers, bars, and restaurants across the United States.

As in previous years, the collection will be released in highly limited quantities, making the annual drop one of the most closely watched releases in American whiskey, and for collectors and Pappy fans, there’s another number worth paying attention to – the suggested retail prices range from $169.99 to $499.99.

The 2026 collection includes six expressions, ranging in age from 10 to 23 years:

  • Old Rip Van Winkle Bourbon 10-Year-Old — $169.99
  • Van Winkle Special Reserve Bourbon 12-Year-Old — $199.99
  • Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 15-Year-Old — $299.99
  • Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13-Year-Old — $299.99
  • Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 20-Year-Old — $399.99
  • Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 23-Year-Old — $499.99

The collection is produced by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery and Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, continuing a partnership that dates back to 2002.

“Every year, we look forward to the opportunity to share these whiskeys with people who have followed our family’s story and appreciate the time and care behind each bottle,” Preston Van Winkle, Vice President and fourth generation of Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, said in a statement shared with Parade. “There are no shortcuts when you’re talking about whiskey that has spent this many years aging.”

While the six expressions return as part of the annual collection, the Van Winkle family says no two releases are exactly alike.

“I’ve had the privilege of watching this collection become something that means a great deal not only to our family, but to people around the world,” Julian P. Van Winkle III, President of Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, said in a written statement. “For me, each bottle is a connection to the generations who came before us and to the patience, pride and traditions they passed down. Seeing that same appreciation carried forward by the people who seek out these whiskeys year after year is incredibly special to our family.”

The Van Winkle family and Buffalo Trace Distillery emphasize that they do not control the prices retailers charge for their whiskeys. Fans are encouraged to purchase Van Winkle products only from licensed retailers, as bottles sold through unlicensed secondary markets or online sellers may carry a higher risk of counterfeits, fraud and alcohol scams.

Glassman, for her part, responded in the post’s comments writing, “Love you babe.”

The first episode of the new season showed Glassman in her daily life, which included a conversation about her past with Gosselin. While she has spoke about their relationship in interviews leading up to the show’s premiere, she also discussed the dad-of-eight on camera in a scene with fellow cast member Erin Lichy, as well as in a confessional interview.

“There was a show called Jon and Kate Plus 8, and what the tabloids put out there is [that] I’m the girl who ruined that marriage,” she said. “‘Mistress Hailey,’ ‘Home-wrecking Hailey, the mistress that ruined a family of eight.’ It wasn’t true.”

It’s worth noting that Glassman dated Gosselin the same year he and ex-wife Kate Gosselin finalized their divorce.

The RHONY newbie has shared on the premiere episode that she’s in a “lavender marriage” with a businessman who will not appear on camera. She also dates women.

Along with Lichy, Sai De Silva and Jessel Taank have made their returns, while Glassman, Daisy Toye, and Erika Hammond are making their RHONY debuts. The Season 16 premiere also marked the long-awaited comeback of Carole Radziwill after she stepped away from Bravo for eight years.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs on Tuesdays on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.

Hollywood Starlet, Who Appeared in a Kirk Douglas Film, Vanished Without a Trace 77 Years Ago

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:43am

Jean Spangler was on the verge of the Hollywood career she had always wanted when she vanished one misty October night in 1949. The 27-year-old actress had appeared in several movies, including one starring Kirk Douglas, but she would become better known for the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

Seventy-seven years later, no one knows exactly what happened to Spangler after she left her Los Angeles home on Oct. 7, 1949.

Her disappearance became one of Los Angeles’ biggest mysteries at the time. The city was still captivated by the “Black Dahlia” murder, which had happened two years earlier, while police were also investigating the disappearance of Bel-Air socialite Mimi Boomhower. For nearly two weeks, Spangler’s case remained a major story as investigators looked for possible links between the two.

After graduating from Franklin High School in Highland Park in 1941, Spangler began pursuing a career in entertainment. She worked as a model and dancer at Hollywood venues such as the Florentine Gardens and Earl Carroll Theatre and landed several small movie roles.

Her credits included When My Baby Smiles at Me, The Miracle of the Bells, Chicken Every Sunday and Young Man With a Horn.

Spangler’s Hollywood ambitions grew alongside a complicated personal life. She married plastics manufacturer Dexter Benner in 1942 at age 19, but filed for divorce six months later. The two continued an on-and-off relationship for several years and had a daughter, Christine.

When their divorce was finalized in 1946, Benner was given temporary custody of their 2-year-old. He later denied Spangler visitation several times, but a judge eventually ruled that the child should be with her mother. Spangler and Christine moved into a Park La Brea apartment with her mother, brother and sister-in-law.

On Oct. 7, 1949, Spangler kissed Christine goodbye before telling her sister-in-law she was meeting Benner about a child-support payment that was a week overdue. She also said she had a night shoot scheduled for a new film.

She reportedly crossed her fingers, winked and said, “Wish me luck,” before walking out. After that, Spangler vanished without a trace.

It wasn’t until two days later that a Griffith Park worker discovered Spangler’s purse in Fern Dell, a wooded area of the park. One of the straps was torn, raising suspicions that she may have struggled with someone.

Inside the purse was a cryptic note addressed to someone named “Kirk.” It read, “Kirk, Can’t wait any longer. Going to see Dr. Scott. It will work best this way while mother is away.”

As investigators tried to piece together Spangler’s final hours, Kirk Douglas reached out to Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Thad Brown, a former investigator on the Black Dahlia case.

Douglas was vacationing in Palm Springs when Spangler disappeared and said he had heard about the case in news reports. He told Brown that Spangler might have worked as an extra on Young Man With a Horn, though he said he hardly knew her.

Given the note found in Spangler’s purse, the connection to Douglas quickly became a point of interest. Police ultimately cleared Douglas of any wrongdoing.

For years, the search for Spangler continued both officially and unofficially. Police kept circulating her photograph, and the Los Angeles Times ran several stories about the missing actress around the anniversary of her disappearance.

Hollywood gossip columnist Louella Parsons and Spangler’s mother each put up a $1,000 reward for information that could lead to Spangler. Still, the young starlet’s whereabouts remain a mystery.

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Heading back to school means less time at home and less control over whether or not your kids actually eat what you pack them for lunch. My own children often fail to consume more than a bite or two of anything other than chips or a granola bar, leaving me questioning all of my life choices as the fruits and veggies I sent for lunch wither away uneaten, lost to the depths of their backpacks.

Founded by a dad who’s intimately familiar with the lunchbox struggle, Grüns Kids was created to solve nutritional gaps in a child’s diet. According to information from the retailer, nearly 90% of kids in the United States aren’t eating enough vegetables, and most fall short of recommended fiber intake. And those apples and carrots you packed them for lunch? They’re the most likely foods to come back home untouched. That’s where Grüns Kids Superfood Gummies come in. Shaped like a gummy bear, but packed with essential nutrients, they’re one thing you can pack in your child’s lunchbox and feel good about.

Always consult a healthcare professional before starting a new supplement routine.

Reportedly made with organic fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms, each serving of Grüns Kids Superfood Gummies contains more than 60 whole-food ingredients, over 20 essential vitamins and minerals, plus prebiotic fiber. Recommended for children ages 2 to 13, they come pre-packaged in individual daily snack pack servings (28 packs in each order).

Grüns Kids Superfood Gummies are vegan-friendly and free from artificial colors and synthetic sweeteners. It’s important to note, however, that these gummies do contain sugar or sugar alcohols, depending on whether you choose the low-sugar or sugar-free version. Supplements aren’t designed to replace healthy eating, so it’s important to make sure to check with your doctor or pediatrician before adding new vitamins or supplements to your kids’ daily intake.

The gummies come in an original strawberry flavor, as well as a new raspberry lemonade version. “My daughter who will barely touch a veggie ate all of these immediately,” one parent who called these gummies a “game changer” raved. Another customer shared that “the ease of use and being prepackaged makes it convenient to grab and carry,” which makes them especially perfect for packing as a daycare snack time and in school lunches.

Iman Reveals The Meaning Behind Her Tattoo

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:29am

Iconic supermodel Iman has opened up about the meaning behind a tattoo she had inked in January to mark the 10th anniversary of her husband David Bowie’s death. The design is taken from the cover of Blackstar, the haunting, critically acclaimed album Bowie released just two days before he died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, at the age of 69. But the tattoo holds a secret that even devoted fans might have missed.

“It actually says Bowie in stars,”  Iman exclusively told PEOPLE,  explaining that the unique typeface from the Blackstar album cover spells out her late husband’s name. “People [were] trying to decipher in the first couple of years what it meant,” she added with a smile.

For Iman, the tattoo is less about grief and more about keeping love alive. “It’s trying to keep the memory alive that is joyful,” she said. “And that’s why I did this in ten years.”

The love story she is honoring is one for the ages. Iman and Bowie met on a blind date in 1990 and fell for each other immediately. Two years later, Bowie proposed on the banks of the River Seine in Paris and the couple married at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Italy in June 1992. In August 2000, they welcomed their daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones. Their marriage, by all accounts, was a rare and genuine partnership between two singular icons.

View this post on Instagram

When Iman first unveiled the tattoo on Instagram in January, she captioned the video with words that said everything: “Jan 10th. The pain didn’t vanish… it left in its place a loving permanent mark.”

Ten years on, the mark remains and so does the love.

1981 Soft Rock Hit, Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of All Time,' Reimagined for 'Monday Night Football'

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:16am

Phil Collins’ haunting 1981 hit “In the Air Tonight” returns as the signature opener for one of the biggest stages in sports.

Billboard reports that Ludacris will join Chris Stapleton and Cindy Blackman Santana for Monday Night Football’s opener with Collins’ hit.

“The second you hear that song, you know something big is coming,” the rapper revealed to the outlet, noting that it allowed him to “bring new energy to Monday Night Football.”

“Monday night magic/ Closing out the weekend/ Luda on the mic/ It’s football season!” the Grammy winner and actor rhymes, closing out his rap with “Put ‘em in the air, new year, new anthem,” as Blackman Santana drums the fill from “In the Air Tonight,” often recognized as the greatest and most iconic drum fill in history.

“Chris and Cindy have helped make ‘In the Air Tonight’ an integral part of the Monday Night Football experience over the last three seasons,” Julie McGlone, ESPN vp, production and executive producer of the In the Air Tonight project, said in a statement.

“Adding Ludacris to the legacy MNF anthem brings a new dimension to the creative and continues our tradition of celebrating the intensity, anticipation and shared emotion of American sports culture, where music, competition and spectacle come together to make each game feel like a cultural event.”

With Monday Night Football just around the corner—it kicks off on Monday, September 14, 2026, with the Denver Broncos visiting the Kansas City Chiefs—the segment will lead into each match for the 2026 season.

It’s officially the fourth season that Stapleton and Blackman Santana have reimagined the track for the ESPN broadcast, marking Luda’s first time joining the duo. Snoop Dogg was previously involved in 2023, the year it launched.

The classic Collins tune was one of the most recognizable songs of the 1980s, ranked among “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” by Rolling Stone.

It charted at No.19 on the Hot 100 and became the singer’s signature solo hit, known for its moody atmosphere, “eerie synth-and-drum-machine moodscape,” making it a natural fit for high-profile sports events.

With its continued presence on Monday Night Football, the legendary song continues to reach a new generation of fans, more than four decades after its release.

Male Juror in Lindsay Clancy Case Alleges Disturbing Behavior by Holdout During Deliberations

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:13am

After the highly publicized Lindsay Clancy trial ended in a mistrial last week, attentions largely turned to the yet unidentified male juror who other jurors have claimed had reasonable doubt but refused to apply the law to come back with a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict for Clancy, resulting in the mistrial.

Recently, several female jurors spoke out about their experience with that holdout juror during the seven days of deliberations, and Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, likewise expressed his own frustrations in a speech after the mistrial was declared. Now, one of the three male jurors has also spoken about the experience, sharing new disturbing accusations about the holdout juror’s behavior in the jury room.

Speaking with ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Aaron Katersky, juror Nick Dargie alleged that the holdout juror at one point used the exercise band that was actually used to strangle the children to “mimic” strangulation using a water bottle.

Dargie said, “There was several times I would ask him to show us evidence or, you know, describe a witness testimony that helped to prove what he was saying, and he couldn’t…There was times he wouldn’t engage. Like, he’d be scrolling on his phone while people are talking to him. Yeah, things like that.”

“He took the exercise band out of the bag, grabbed an empty water bottle and tied the band around the water bottle and pulled it,” Dargie continued. About whether the juror explained why he did that, Dargie said, “He might’ve, I’m not entirely [sure]. I think I was just so shocked that he did that.”

Dargie confirmed that it was meant to mimic how Clancy killed her three children, Cora Clancy, Dawson Clancy and Callan Clancy, saying, “I assume so, yeah,” and he called the behavior “disgusting.”

The next hearing for the Clancy trial is scheduled for Sept. 29, at which point many are hoping to find out whether the prosecution will be retrying the case, as they are currently expected to do.

1987 Michael Douglas Film, With 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, Ranked Among the ‘Best Psychological Thriller Movies of All Time’

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:05am

In the 1980s and ‘90s, Michael Douglas helped define the psychological thriller genre. The actor played complicated, morally flawed characters in films such as Wall Street, A Perfect Murder, and more. But it was the Oscar-nominated 1987 erotic thriller Fatal Attraction that would first cement his status as one of the most compelling leading men of the era.

In Fatal Attraction, Douglas plays Dan Gallagher, a New York lawyer who has a one-night stand with a book editor, Alex Forrest (Glenn Close), while his wife Beth (Anne Archer) is out of town. When Dan tries to end the affair, Alex becomes obsessive and begins to stalk him and his family. It’s his wife who must take matters into her own hands in a violent bathroom scene at the end of the film.

In a recent ranking post, Fatal Attraction was ranked among the “best psychological thrillers of all time” by Marie Claire. The outlet also credited Close for her “stellar” performance, describing the Adrian Lyne film as “the original erotic thriller and one of the most classic ‘80s movies for a reason.”

Nearly 40 years later, Fatal Attraction has a “fresh” score of 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, where it’s described as “a potboiler in the finest sense…sultry, juicy thriller that’s hard to look away from once it gets going.”

Douglas once revealed that he took a new approach to acting while filming Fatal Attraction.

“Somebody had advised me early in my career that the camera can always tell when you’re lying, and I took that to heart and became a bit of a method actor, just sort of taking me down to the bare skeleton,” he told Halifax City News in an interview.

While preparing for Fatal Attraction, he thought to himself, “Wait a minute — acting is about lying. Acting is just about being a good liar. I remember having this hysterical, cathartic giggle and then laugh and almost like a switch went off.”

“After that, acting became joyful and fun, because it was a game,” Douglas added. “Whether it was dramatic or funny, it was a game in seduction, of convincing somebody that you were telling the truth.”

Sunset Boulevard / Getty Images

As for Fatal Attraction’s tragic storyline, the film originally had a different ending in which Alex killed herself and framed Dan for the murder. But producers changed it to the bathroom scene with Beth.

“The big one on that picture of course, was the ending, which was an interesting debate,” Douglas told the American Film Institute, explaining that test audiences didn’t like the original ending.

“Glenn, of course, felt strongly for her character, but then there was a lot of criticism, reviews about changing endings based upon audiences, you know, viewing it,” Douglas recalled. “So we talked and I felt the same way, I saw it just wasn’t there. We were so successful at what we had done that they wanted me to kill her, and we looked at I think it was and basically, you know Adrian came up with the bathtub scene and all of that.”

Close was not happy with the ending and argued with the studio for two weeks over not addressing the reasons behind Alex’s mental breakdown, according to The New York Times.

“Now she’s considered one of the greatest villains ever,” Close said of her troubled character. “That to me is a mistake. I’ve never thought of her as a villain, just in distress.”

Thirty-nine years after its release, Fatal Attraction remains one of the most memorable films of the 1980s, with both Douglas and Close delivering iconic performances.

Remember the 'Man in the Red Bandana'? — One of 9/11’s Greatest Heroes Honored

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:04am

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, many people are reflecting, not on the tragedy, but on the heroes who stepped up on the deadly day.

One of those heroes was known at first only as the “Man in the Red Bandana,” but was quickly identified as 24-year-old Welles Crowther. A volunteer firefighter and equities trader, Crowther was working in the South Tower on 9/11 when the attacks started.

Instead of running for safety, he covered his face with the now-iconic bandana and stayed, helping as many as 18 people survive.

Welles Crowther was 24, an equities trader on the 104th floor of the South Tower, and a volunteer firefighter who still carried the red bandanna his father gave him as a boy.

When the second plane hit, survivors on the 78th-floor sky lobby remembered a young man with that… pic.twitter.com/orlOUWlrhH

— Mila Joy (@Milajoy) September 9, 2026

One of the people Crowther saved, Ling Young, spoke of his bravery following the attacks.

“He’s definitely my guardian angel — no ifs, ands or buts —‚ because without him, we would be sitting there, waiting [until] the building came down,” she told CNN, eventually meeting Crowther’s mom in person. “It really helped me tremendously, and helped me heal a little bit more, at least mentally.”

Another person saved by Crowther, Judy Wein, added, “In his mind, he had a duty to do — to save people.”

Sadly, Crowther did not survive, and his body was found in March 2002, along with those of several firefighters and emergency workers. In his room, a mostly completed application to the FDNY was discovered following his death.

On September 8, 2026, President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Crowther the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. His mother, Allison Crowther, accepted the award on his behalf.

“That Welles’ light still shines brilliantly today, even after 25 years, is a testament to his legacy of courage, compassion, and love for humanity that continues to inspire and uplift others,” Allison said at the ceremony.

President Barack Obama also honored Crowther during his presidency, saying during a dedication to the National September 11 Memorial in 2014, “They didn’t know his name. They didn’t know where he came from. But they knew their lives had been saved by the man in the red bandana.”

How ‘Bed Bug Dogs’ Detect Hidden Infestations—And How Accurate Are They?

Thu, 09/10/2026 - 11:00am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Bed bugs are notoriously good at staying out of sight. Their flat bodies allow them to hide along mattress seams, behind headboards, under carpeting and inside cracks around baseboards and furniture. Finding an infestation can therefore require more than simply looking for live bugs.

Some pest control companies use specially trained scent-detection dogs to help locate hidden activity. Instead of relying on sight, the dogs are trained to recognize odors associated with bed bugs and alert their handlers when they detect them.

Orkin uses canine bed bug inspections in select areas, pairing trained dogs with experienced handlers and follow-up visual confirmation when a dog alerts. So, how accurate are bed bug dogs, and when does a canine inspection make sense?

If you suspect bed bugs but can’t find where they’re hiding, an Orkin Pro can inspect the property and recommend an appropriate detection and treatment plan.

How Accurate Are Bed Bug Inspection Dogs?

Well-trained bed bug detection dogs can be highly accurate, particularly under controlled conditions. Real-world performance, however, varies depending on the dog, handler, training and inspection environment.

One University of Florida study found that trained dogs correctly identified bed bugs with a 97.5% positive indication rate and no false positives during controlled testing. The dogs also achieved 98% accuracy when locating live bed bugs placed in hotel rooms.

Those results show what properly trained detection dogs are capable of, but they shouldn’t be interpreted as a guaranteed 98% accuracy rate during every inspection.

A later field study published in the Journal of Economic Entomology evaluated commercial canine teams in naturally infested apartments and found substantial variation between dogs and even between inspections performed by the same team. Researchers concluded that training and real-world conditions can strongly influence results.

That makes the quality of the complete dog-and-handler team particularly important.

How Do Dogs Find Bed Bugs?

Bed bug dogs aren’t searching for something they can see. They’re following scent.

During training, dogs learn to distinguish bed bug odors from other insects and household smells. Research from the University of Florida found that trained dogs could distinguish live bed bugs and viable eggs from dead bed bugs, shed skins and feces.

That ability can be useful because bed bugs often occupy areas that are difficult to inspect visually. Orkin lists common hiding places such as mattress seams, box springs, furniture, carpets, baseboards and cracks or gaps around a home.

A trained dog can move through the room sniffing those areas and alert the handler when it detects the target odor.

Bed Bug Dogs vs. Visual Inspections

Inspection Method

Main Advantage

Potential Limitation

Canine inspection

Can rapidly search large areas using scent

Accuracy depends on training and handler performance

Visual inspection

Allows an inspector to physically confirm evidence

Hidden or low-level infestations can be difficult to locate

Canine + visual confirmation

Combines rapid scent detection with physical evidence

Requires a trained canine team and inspector

Monitoring devices

Can detect activity over time

Results are not immediate

Canine detection can be especially useful when the infestation is small or spread through a large property. Visual inspections still matter, however. Finding an actual bed bug, egg, fecal spot or shed skin provides physical confirmation of activity.

That’s why Orkin’s canine inspection process doesn’t rely on the dog’s alert alone. When a canine alerts, an Orkin Pro performs an additional inspection to confirm bed bug activity.

If bed bugs are suspected but a visual search hasn’t located them, Orkin can evaluate whether a canine or conventional inspection is appropriate for the property.

Why Training Matters for Bed Bug Dogs

A sensitive nose isn’t enough by itself. Dogs need to be trained to recognize the correct odor, ignore distractions and communicate consistently with their handler. Handlers also need to interpret alerts without unintentionally influencing the dog’s behavior.

Orkin says its canine teams complete a six- to eight-week training program and receive third-party certification. Ongoing practice matters as well because real homes contain far more competing smells than a controlled training environment.

Can Detection Dogs Find Bugs Behind Walls?

Detection dogs can identify odors coming from areas that would be difficult for a person to inspect directly, but an alert doesn’t necessarily reveal the exact number or precise location of every insect. That makes canine inspections useful around locations such as baseboards, furniture, carpeting and other concealed areas.

Orkin says its trained dogs can detect bed bug scents in locations that are difficult for humans to reach. A professional can then concentrate the physical inspection around the alerted area rather than dismantling large portions of a room in search of a tiny infestation.

When Is a Canine Bed Bug Inspection Worth Considering?

Canine inspection makes the most sense when bed bugs are suspected but difficult to confirm, or when a large area needs to be checked quickly. It can also be useful for post-treatment purposes, when the goal is to determine whether live insects remain.

The strongest approach combines the dog’s scent-detection ability with professional inspection rather than treating the canine alert as proof by itself. Orkin follows that model by using the dog to locate suspected activity and inspecting an alerted area before determining the next step.

For homeowners, that’s worth considering when the evidence isn’t obvious. Bed bugs can remain hidden long before an infestation becomes easy to see, and identifying the affected areas early can make it easier to develop a targeted treatment plan.

If you’re seeing possible bed bug signs or simply can’t determine where they’re coming from, request an inspection from Orkin to identify the problem and discuss treatment options.
