Taylor Sheridan's Best Series Is Finally Coming to Netflix
After the success of 1883 and the excitement of SEAL Team arriving on Netflix, it was only a matter of time before more of Paramount+’s catalog of shows made their way over. Taylor Sheridan’s best show on the streamer is finally heading to Netflix.
It’s all about the Jeremy Renner series Mayor of Kingstown. This is not set within the Yellowstone universe, and is instead, a gritty crime drama that focuses on one man who wants to bring order to his town. Of course, he’s not necessarily doing it in the most legal sense, but it works. Netflix has set the date for Oct. 5, 2026.
Mayor of Kingstown follows Renner’s Mike McLusky, the head of the McLusky family, who has become the unofficial Mayor of Kingstown. He is ruthless when he needs to be, making sure the balance between street gangs, local police, prison guards, and prisoners remains steady. Like many of Sheridan’s other shows, he focuses on racism, power struggles, and the class system, while also creating an entertaining and thought-provoking series.
The series consists of four seasons to date, with a fifth and final season in the works. While the fifth season will only have eight episodes rather than the 10 that the first four seasons have had, at least Paramount+ is offering the show time to wrap up all the storylines.
What’s not clear is how many of the seasons will join Netflix. The recent move is connected to the deal inked between Netflix and Paramount earlier in 2026, which will see a number of shows stream on the global giant under a non-exclusive license. Some shows, such as SEAL Team, have already been added, and Mayor of Kingstown is part of the October releases.
What’s on Netflix confirms that multiple seasons will join Netflix, but it hasn’t given an exact number. That’s because Netflix hasn’t confirmed the exact number of the current 40 episodes available.
While other Sheridan shows have joined the streaming platform, only the first season or two have joined. Usually, the plan is to make sure viewers need to come back to Paramount+ for one season, where possible. However, other shows have joined in full, such as Halo, which is set to depart the streaming giant soon.
This deal is international, but the deals will vary. Oct. 5 will see Mayor of Kingstown join Netflix in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and a few other locations. Then other international locations will get it at a later date. The exact length of time the show will be available also differs depending on the series and location, with most deals being between one and three years.
So, if you have been on the fence about Paramount+ just to watch Renner’s series, this is a chance to check it out. Make sure Oct. 5, 2026, is in your diary for Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan’s best show on the streamer.

1998 Tom Hanks Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of the 1990s’—Despite 69% on Rotten Tomatoes
In the 1990s, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan co-starred in a trio of movies, but it’s their final foray together that has surprisingly stood the test of time.
The 1998 film You’ve Got Mail was ranked among GQ’s list of the “best movies of the 1990s.” In the 2026 ranking list, the outlet described the film as “a perfect rom-com with the two of the absolute best to ever do it”— despite an outdated premise and modest score on Rotten Tomatoes.
“So much of the core concept of You’ve Got Mail feels wildly alien at this point,” GQ acknowledged of the film’s storyline, which is set around the excitement of hearing a dial-up America Online email notification. Still, it was noted that the Nora Ephron film “arrived at an interesting historical precipice, when technology was starting to change the way we do absolutely everything.”
You’ve Got Mail stars Hanks and Ryan as Joe Fox and Kathleen Kelly, rival New York City bookstore owners who anonymously meet in an AOL chat room and fall in love. The movie features cute banter, an impressive soundtrack, the beauty of all of the seasons, and obvious star power.
Decades later, You’ve Got Mail has a score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes, with just enough positive reviews from critics to stay “fresh” but short of the highest “certified fresh” honor.
The film’s charm is highlighted by Hanks and Ryan’s undeniable chemistry.
“It’s just a natural thing,” Hanks told Entertainment Tonight in 1989. “[Meg and I] see each other every now and again. It’s like, we don’t hang out for coffee. … But when we pick up, we just pick up where we left off and it’s an effortless thing that I don’t think either one of us examines it too much because if we did, it’d be a problem.”
The actor also told Access Hollywood in 2023 that Ephron knew to rush through making the movie “while email is still a going thing.”
Nearly 30 years after You’ve Got Mail’s release, the premise of finding love in email chat rooms is outdated, but a New York love story never goes out of style. Even with a modest Rotten Tomatoes score, You’ve Got Mail has endured as one of the great love stories of its era.
Eric Stonestreet Shares Wedding Dance Video 1 Year After Surprise Ceremony
Eric Stonestreet has a lot to celebrate!
On Tuesday, September 8, the soon-to-be 55-year-old Modern Family alum shared a post on Instagram commemorating his first wedding anniversary with wife Lindsay Schweitzer. The couple’s relationship milestone falls between their respective birthdays.
“September 7th is Lindsay’s birthday. September 9th is mine. So we decided to get married on September 8, one year ago today,” his post began.
The Instagram carousel kicked off with a video of Stonestreet and Schweitzer sharing a special wedding dance as Brothers Osborne crooners John and TJ Osborne performed “Pushing Up Daisies,” which the actor revealed was “one of our favorite songs.” Stonestreet also noted that while the pair “surprised our family with a wedding,” he had “surprised” his wife with the live performance “in our gosh darn living room.”
Further detailing the special moment, Stonestreet called it “a memory for a lifetime.”
“They are as kind and generous as they are talented…and they win awards for how talented they are. AND they’ll be in KC [Kansas City] this week, almost a year to the day, playing the T-Mobile Center,” he said of the Brothers Osbourne. “Full circle.”
View this post on InstagramThe remainder of Stonestreet’s post was a tribute to his wife. “Happy anniversary, Lindsay. Every day, I’m more grateful that you’re in my life and that you’re my wife. My only regret is that you weren’t sooner,” he began.
“So here’s to many, many, MANY more fun, happy, loving, surprise- and laughter-filled days together,” he concluded. “‘We ain’t getting out of this love alive.’ You’s the best. ❤️❤️.”
News of Stonestreet and Schweitzer’s relationship was first reported by People in 2017. The pair later announced their engagement on Instagram in August 2021, sharing a candid photo of the pair posing together as Schweitzer flashed her gorgeous diamond engagement ring.
“She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people,'” he jokingly captioned the post.
View this post on InstagramThe pair’s intimate and private Kansas City wedding was a surprise to many, including Stonestreet’s Modern Family costars. No members from the close-knit cast were in attendance for the big day.
“We literally have a group chat going right now, and he sent us all—he didn’t tell us that they were doing that,” fellow series alum Ariel Winter told People in October 2025. “They, like, invited just their close friends and family at their house where they are. Like, literally, I think they had maybe 10 people there. And they, like, invited them over for something and just did that. Came out and got married.”
Winter, 28, noted that it was all “very sweet.”
“They just sent us the pictures in the group chat, and it was really sweet, and, of course, we congratulated them,” she continued. “Eric and Lindsay are absolutely incredible. She’s so wonderful. She’s been a part of our family really for a long time, and I’m just so happy for them because she’s awesome. So I’m so happy that they made that happen.”

Earlier this year, Stonestreet opened up about his reasoning for excluding his Modern Family companions from his nuptials while joining TV husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson‘s podcast, Dinner’s on Me.
“We didn’t invite anyone to our wedding other than our family,” Stonestreet said.
“The equivalent to an invitation to our wedding was a phone call before the wedding. Which was like, ‘Hey, this is your non-invitation. Because we love you and we want you to know about it first,'” he explained. “So there was a group of people that we called and told. And then, we got married and I had a text all set up ready to go. And then the moment we got married, we just sent it out to everyone, other people.”
Stonestreet also added that he “didn’t want to offend anyone” by excluding them from the wedding.
1970 Rock Song, Created in 25 Minutes in London, Is Still a Major Hit 56 Years Later
Black Sabbath created an iconic heavy metal song with the 1970 hit “Paranoid.” Fifty-six years later, it is more than just the band’s iconic anthem as it remains a defining rock classic in music history.
Featured on Black Sabbath’s sophomore album Paranoid, it was the record’s lead single, with the lyrics written by Geezer Butler while all four original members are credited as songwriters.
According to the legendary bassist, the song, which he described as an “afterthought,” explores feelings of depression, paranoia and the emotional effects of drug use.
“Basically, it’s just about depression, because I didn’t really know the difference between depression and paranoia,” he mentioned in Mojo magazine in June 2013, via Farout Magazine. “It’s a drug thing; when you’re smoking a joint, you get totally paranoid about people; you can’t relate to people. There’s that crossover between the paranoia you get when you’re smoking dope and the depression afterwards.”
Black Sabbath: Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne (Photo by Chris Walter/WireImage)The lead guitarist Tony Iommi also revealed that it wasn’t originally “intended” as a song for the album and was created as filler.
At the time, the band needed a filler song to round out the album, so they ended up creating the entire track in just 25 minutes.
According to Butler, after quickly writing the lyrics, Iommi with the guitar riff while “Ozzy was reading them as he was singing.”
After releasing the single, “Paranoid” peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2024, “Paranoid” hit another milestone after joining Spotify’s Billions Club after surpassing 1 billion streams.
Continuing to resonate with listeners, the song currently has over 1.7 billion streams with more than 600,000 streams daily.
Following the death of Ozzy Osbourne in July 2025, the track experienced a new resurgence and landed at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and No. 5 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart.
It also made its debut at No. 43 on the Streaming Songs chart, making it Black Sabbath’s first-ever appearance on that list.
From the chart resurgence to its continuous streams, “Paranoid” also captured the attention of fellow musicians.
Some of the notable covers of the song include Megadeth’s, which was initially recorded as part of the Black Sabbath tribute album Nativity in Black and later released on their EP, Hidden Treasures, in 1995.

During the meal, one of the friends asked if they had set a date for their wedding, to which Tammy revealed, “December 12, ’26. We’re thinking, like, ice princess.”
“Are you going to wear, like, a coat and tails for the horse and buggy?” one friend asked. “That would be cool. And, like, shorts. You could wear shorts and then, like, long tails. White tux thing. Top white.”
Andrea replied, “Yeah, you might be onto something.”
The friend then turned to Tammy and asked, “Would you let her do that?” with a laugh, to which Tammy bluntly said, “No.”
This elicited surprised reactions from Andrea’s friends and a strong response from Andrea herself. “Ain’t nobody gonna let me do nothing!” she declared.
To that, Tammy joked, “I think this is getting to you a little bit,” pointing to Andrea’s alcoholic beverage.

Jenny‘s seen me drunk before,” Andrea pointed out. “We’ve been friends since we were alive, like literally. My mom was in one hospital room, and her mom was in the other. Screaming. Your mom was screaming.”
Jenny added, “And your mom looked at your dad and said…” However, Tammy cut her off to state, “My mom loves Andrea.”
After an awkward beat, the small talk continued. Tammy eventually got the hiccups, which Jenny acknowledged, before Tammy rested her head on her hands at the table.
“Are you OK, Tam Tam?” the first friend asked, prompting Andrea to echo, “What’s wrong?”
“Just tired,” Tammy insisted, as the clip ended.

1990 Rock Ballad, Written for a Western Sequel, Scored Bon Jovi His First and Only Solo No. 1 Hit 36 Years Ago
In 1990, a Western film helped inspire one of the most unexpected milestones in Jon Bon Jovi’s career.
“Blaze of Glory” was written and recorded for the Young Guns II soundtrack.
It marked a bold creative shift for the musician, who was still riding high on the success of his band’s massive late-’80s run.
The sequel, starring Emilio Estevez as “Billy the Kid,” originally wanted to use Bon Jovi’s earlier hit “Wanted Dead or Alive.” Instead, the singer wrote a song tailored to the film’s themes of rebellion and redemption.
Little did he know, he was also penning a power ballad that would go on to define his legacy outside of his band.
As Parade previously reported, while sharing a meal with Kiefer Sutherland, Bon Jovi famously scribbled down a whole set of lyrics onto a napkin in less time than it takes to place an order.
“With Jon Bon Jovi, we went out to dinner and had some drinks. We were sitting in a bar, and Jon looked at Emilio Estevez and said, ‘I want to do the music for the sequel,’”Sutherland recalled of the moment following the 1988 original film.
“And Emilio looked at him and said, ‘I don’t know if there’s going to be a sequel’ and Jon just shook his head and said, ‘There’s gonna be a sequel.’”
“We weren’t paying attention, and Jon started writing this stuff down on a napkin. And he wrote ‘Blaze of Glory’ in 15 minutes. He pushed the napkins to Emilio and said, ‘That’s your first song.’”
Bon Jovi later revealed the songwriting process, telling Rolling Stone years later, “I was pretending that it was Billy the Kid, but it was my pain and distrust and things that I wasn’t brave enough to write in the first person,” adding, “It was questioning the celebrity and now you’re the big boy in the room — all that stuff.”
“Blaze of Glory,” described as a cinematic rock ballad boasting soaring vocals and emotional intensity, resonated with rock fans and mainstream audiences alike.
The chart success was swift, as it climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Sept. 8, 1990.
36 years ago, Bon Jovi landed his first—and only—solo chart-topper outside of his work with his band.
It later became one of the biggest rock hits of 1990, earning a Golden Globe for Best Original Song – Motion Picture in 1991, while also being nominated in the category of Best Original Song at the 1991 Academy Awards, and Best Song For a Motion Picture or Television and Male Rock Vocal Performance at the 1991 Grammy Awards.
It also secured its place as one of the standout movie soundtrack singles of the era.
As for Bon Jovi, the success led him to expand the project into a full solo album of the same name.
The film, also starring Christian Slater, Lou Diamond Phillips, Alan Ruck and William Petersen, wasn’t as positively received by critics, earning a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes, despite a 66% Popcornmeter from audiences.

Lori Loughlin Files Divorce Papers Nearly a Year After Split From Mossimo Giannulli
Former Full House star Lori Loughlin filed for divorce from her husband of 28 years, Mossimo Giannulli.
Page Six confirmed on Tuesday that Loughlin had filed paperwork on September 4, citing irreconcilable differences. Based on the documents, the couple parted ways over one year ago. Per TMZ, the actress listed the date of separation as August 31, 2025.
Along with the date of separation and date of filing, Loughlin’s documents also stated that the couple signed a prenup on October 28, 1997, and amended the agreement on August 11, 2015.
News of Loughlin and Giannulli’s divorce isn’t exactly surprising. In October of 2025, Page Six confirmed that the couple had separated. A rep for the actress told the media outlet, “Lori and Mossimo are living apart now,” but added, “There are no legal proceedings underway.” Fast forward to September of 2026, and things have changed.
Laughlin and Giannulli tied the knot in November of 1997. The pair have two daughters together: Olivia Jade Giannulli (born in 1999) and Isabella Rose Giannulli (born in 1998).
The celeb’s involvement in a high-profile college admissions bribery scandal in 2019 led to a two-month prison sentence in 2020. Her soon-to-be ex-husband was sentenced to five months in prison and was released in April of 2021.
Following Loughlin’s release, she slowly made her way back into the spotlight, guest starring on shows such as Blue Bloods and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She also starred in the holiday movie Fall Into Winter and reprised her role as Abigail Stanton in Season 2 of When Hope Calls.
Loughlin recently made headlines by returning to Instagram after a seven-year hiatus, posting a star-studded throwback-themed video featuring her Full House family and the caption, “Wake up, San Francisco! I’m back on IG.”
View this post on InstagramShortly after her initial post, Loughlin shared a carousel of pics and videos, including a clip from her birthday celebration and a Disney photo with fellow Full House alums John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.
The actress’s fans flocked to her post to comment on her return. “I’m proud of you for taking responsibility for what you did and not asking for anybody to pardon you. Looking forward to you coming back to When Calls the Heart,” wrote one of Loughlin’s supporters.
View this post on InstagramThe comments didn’t end there. Others added, “Aww Lori, I love seeing your smiling face pop up in my feed again! These pics are gorgeous,” and “Welcome home! We missed you, Lori! Love the pics!”
As of now, neither Loughlin nor Gianulli has publicly commented on their divorce.
'Adolescence' Emmy Winner Joins Cast of 'Heat 2'
The award-winning performers from Netflix’s Adolescence are continuing their hot streaks with exciting new projects.
The latest example is Stephen Graham, co-creator and star of the streamer’s smash-hit series. The English actor, 53, scooped up a pair of Emmys and a number of other prestigious awards last year for his astounding work on Adolescence.
Next comes Michael Mann‘s highly anticipated sequel to Heat, Deadline reports, arriving more than 30 years after the original. That one starred Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, as fans well know, and Heat 2 has already confirmed Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale as part of the cast.
Also starring alongside Adam Driver, Jason Clarke and Odessa Young, Graham is rumored to be playing a younger version of master thief Neil McCauley, portrayed by De Niro, 83, in the first Heat, Deadline also noted on Tuesday, September 8.
Some fans might not know this part, however: Heat 2 is also a No. 1 New York Times bestselling novel published in 2022 that Mann, 83, wrote with Meg Gardiner.
The book serves as both a sequel and prequel to the original, looking at the early lives of both McCauley and Vincent Hanna (played by Pacino, 86). It also delves into the story of Chris Shiherlis (played by the late, great Val Kilmer) after he survived the first film’s bank robbery climax.
Breaking Down the Classic Edge of HeatHeat was a landmark blockbuster that saw De Niro and Pacino sharing the screen for the first time ever. For such a timeless classic, film buffs might find it surprising that the crime thriller only holds a 84% average critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
As Parade put it earlier this month, the reason Heat really works outside of being a really engaging and entertaining crime thriller is the masterclass Mann puts on as both a director and a writer. Heat is ultimately a film exploring the destructive side of obsession, and how that relates to the inherently selfish pursuit of violence.
'70s CBS Sitcom, Ranked Among 'Best' TV Shows of All Time, Still Holds Up 49 Years Later
The Mary Tyler Moore Show, starring Mary Tyler Moore herself, is more than just a hit ’70s CBS sitcom; it became one of the most influential classic comedies to stand the test of time.
Despite the countless new and modern series, it remains widely celebrated among the 100 best TV shows of all time.
In a ranking released by Rolling Stone, The Mary Tyler Moore Show made it to the top 10, claiming the No. 7 spot on the list.
The publication emphasized how the actress “invented a whole new TV archetype in the 1970s” by portraying the role of “an adult single woman in the big city, where she’s gonna make it after all.”
Created by legendary writers and producers James L. Brooks and Allan Burns, Moore played the role of Mary Richards, a highly independent and career-driven 30-ish woman.
Mary Tyler Moore plays Mary Richards an October 1971 episode of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”She moved to Minneapolis after a breakup and landed an associate producer position at a fictional lowest-rated TV news station, WJM-TV.
With its pilot episode airing on Sept. 19, 1970, the series introduced a game-changing portrayal of a career-oriented single woman and went on to become one of the “greatest TV comedy pilots” in television history.
After seven seasons and 168 episodes, The Mary Tyler Moore Show aired its final episode on March 19, 1977. The series won the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series three consecutive times, in 1975, 1976 and 1977. The show’s 29 Emmys overall include notable individual awards for cast members Edward Asner, Valerie Harper, Ted Knight, Betty White and Moore for their performances.
According to the actress, she was saddened but was also prepared to move forward after the show ended.
“I was ready to move on once they told me I had to move on,” she said in an intimate interview with award-winning writer/director Carlos Ferrer.
Moreover, she added that seven years was “a lot” for a sitcom and was considered a milestone at the time.
“I knew it was right for me to move on,” Moore admitted. “Then I did Ordinary People and a play on Broadway. So those were all good things, but it was like losing my family. They really became a part of me and saying goodbye to them, even though we all knew we weren’t going to different continents, the likelihood was never the same.”
With its innovative approach to television, the ’70s sitcom became a fan favorite and cemented its place among the best TV shows in history.

1975 Rock Song, Written on a Flight to Los Angeles, Is Still a Powerful Hit 51 Years Later
As Kerry Livgren looked down at the American landscape from an airplane in the mid-1970s, the view gave him an idea for one of Kansas’ most ambitious early songs.
The guitarist and keyboardist wrote “Song for America” while the band was touring behind its 1974 debut album, drawing inspiration during a flight to Los Angeles. The sprawling composition became the title track of Kansas’ second album in 1975 and an early showcase for the progressive rock sound the band would soon bring to a much larger audience.
Livgren wasn’t interested in writing a conventional patriotic song.
Instead, “Song for America” looks back at the country before European settlement, describing an expansive natural landscape before turning toward colonization, development, and environmental destruction. The aerial view that inspired Livgren gave him an unusual vantage point from which to consider the relatively young nation and the enormous changes it had undergone.
The music was equally ambitious.
Running just over 10 minutes, the album version opens with an extended instrumental passage and moves through intricate shifts in tempo and arrangement. Livgren’s synthesizers and keyboards are joined by Steve Walsh on vocals and keyboards, Robby Steinhardt on violin, Rich Williams on guitar, Dave Hope on bass, and Phil Ehart on drums.
“That’s definitely a full drum workout,” Ehart told Classic Rock Here and Now of the track.
Kansas recorded the album at Wally Heider Recording Studio in Hollywood, marking another step forward for a group that was still working to establish itself nationally. Song for America eventually reached No. 57 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified gold.
The title track was also released as a single in 1975, but its length presented an obvious problem for radio. Label head Don Kirshner cut the 10-minute composition down to roughly three minutes, removing much of its instrumental material. Although the single failed to chart, the full version became one of the most enduring songs from Kansas’ early progressive period.
“Kerry Livgren has written passages of music that are the most powerful things that I have ever heard,” Williams told Classic Rock Revisited. “He is my favorite writer. Hearing the way that we play those things, the way it is put together and the way it ends up after it is put through the Kansas meat grinder, has a dynamic power to it. Look at ‘Song for America,’ where that groove sets in and then it really kicks in and it is like ‘holy s**t.’ This is not just a bunch of blues licks; it is a gigantic, majestic, beautiful melody.”
Bigger commercial success was just ahead. The band broke through with 1976’s Leftoverture and “Carry On Wayward Son,” followed by Point of Know Return and “Dust in the Wind.”
More than five decades later, “Song for America” captures Kansas just before that breakthrough. What began with Livgren gazing out an airplane window became a sweeping 10-minute composition that helped define the band’s ambitious early sound.

Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Brain When You Eat Walnuts
Your afternoon snack can make or break your productivity. It’s something you’ve likely experienced first-hand. Maybe someone from the office brings in cupcakes and the sugar high has you firing off emails at record speed. But once that high wears off, it’s replaced by the feeling of intense sluggishness and you feel your eyes glaze over as you stare at your screen.
The secret to avoiding intense energy highs and lows is keeping your blood sugar stable. That means prioritizing foods with protein, fiber and healthy fat. One food that has all three nutrients packaged together is walnuts, and it turns out the nut is very good for your brain in other ways too.
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that walnuts and brains look alike. Walnuts really do have an impressive nutrient profile when it comes to brain health,” Sydney Lappe, RDN, a registered dietitian at Top Nutrition Coaching, tells Parade.
Related: ‘I’m a Neurologist—This Is the One Diet Trend I Beg My Patients To Avoid’
Lappe says that what makes walnuts stand out from other nuts is that they’re high in polyunsaturated fats and are especially rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid, while other nuts tend to be higher in monounsaturated fats.
What exactly happens to your brain when you eat walnuts? Keep reading to find out.

How Walnuts Support Brain Function and Cognitive HealthWhen it comes to diet and brain health, Eric Finley, RD, CSSD, a registered dietitian with food service management company Sodexo, explains that what matters most is overall diet, not zeroing in on one specific food. “Consistency matters more than looking for one ‘brain food,’” he says. Still, incorporating walnuts into a healthy diet can benefit cognitive health.
“I would not call any single food a magic bullet for brain health, but walnuts are certainly a nutrient-dense choice and fit well into an eating pattern that supports healthy aging and cognitive function,” Finley says. He explains that walnuts have a unique nutrient makeup that supports brain health. Walnuts have omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds, vitamin E, copper, manganese, protein and fiber. That’s quite the nutrient load for one little nut!
“Walnuts are rich in polyphenols, including ellagic acid, and contain gamma-tocopherol—a form of vitamin E—and melatonin. These compounds offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may protect brain cells from damage over time. This combination of polyunsaturated fats, ALA and antioxidants is one reason walnuts have received so much attention for brain health,” Lappe says.
Walnuts’ ability to help keep blood sugar stable supports cognitive health too. Scientific research shows that fluctuating blood sugar levels disrupt critical brain metabolic pathways, impairing memory, attention and executive functioning. Maintaining stable blood sugar helps prevent this.

The Role of Omega-3 Fatty Acids ALA in Brain PerformanceAs Lappe explained earlier, part of what makes walnuts different from other nuts is that they are particularly high in ALA omega-3 fatty acids. Cristina Caro, RDN, a senior area managing dietitian for Sodexo, explains that omega-3s helps with maintaining the structure and flexibility of brain-cell membranes, supporting efficient communication between neurons.
“More than half of the brain is composed of fat, and omega-3 fatty acids are important components of neuron membranes,” she tells Parade. “They help keep those membranes flexible, allowing signals to move efficiently from one brain cell to another.”
Caro explains that communication is at the heart of how we think, learn, remember and pay attention. “So while we often talk about omega-3s in terms of specific benefits like memory or mood, their bigger role is supporting the brain’s ability to communicate and function effectively,” she says.
Finley echoes this, explaining that research has found that omega-3 fatty acids support cognitive function, memory, learning and mood. He adds that it’s important to know that walnuts specifically contain ALA omega-3 fatty acids, which is different from the DHA omega-3 fatty acids found in fish.
“The body can convert some ALA into EPA and DHA, but that conversion is limited,” he says. This is why having a diet that includes different sources of omega-3s is better than relying solely on walnuts for them.
Besides supporting cognitive function, memory, learning and mood, Lappe points out that omega-3 fatty acids are good for the heart too, and what’s good for the heart is good for the brain.
“Healthy blood vessels and blood flow help deliver the oxygen and nutrients the brain needs, while many cardiovascular risk factors are also linked with cognitive decline,” she says.

Can Eating Walnuts Improve Memory and Focus? There’s no question that walnuts are a brain-healthy food, but Finley cautions that you shouldn’t expect to experience the benefits right away.
“I would not expect someone to eat a handful of walnuts and suddenly feel more focused that afternoon. The potential benefits are more about what happens when walnuts are eaten consistently over time,” he says.
Caro agrees, explaining that eating walnuts is more of a long-term investment in brain health.
“You’re not going to eat a handful and suddenly have a better memory. The potential benefit comes from making walnuts a consistent part of your diet, giving your brain the nutrients it needs to support healthy cognitive function over time,” she says.
That said, incorporating walnuts into your meal or snack on days when you really need to focus certainly can’t hurt. Lappe points to one 2025 study that found that young adults who ate a walnut-rich breakfast had faster reaction times on attention and decision-making tasks later that day. However, the study’s results weren’t clear on how eating a breakfast with walnuts impacted short-term memory.
As mentioned earlier, walnuts can also help keep blood sugar levels steady, and this is something that can help with focus. A 2025 scientific review published in Food Science & Nutrition shows that low-glycemic foods were associated with a longer attention span.
Antioxidants and Polyphenols: Fighting Neuroinflammation and AgingWalnuts’ high antioxidant and polyphenol content also makes them a particularly great brain-healthy food. “Walnuts contain several antioxidants, including polyphenols, vitamin E, and melatonin, that can help protect cells from oxidative damage,” Lappe says.
She adds that studies on polyphenols, a type of antioxidant commonly found in plants, have shown that polyphenols help regulate inflammation and strengthen the brain’s natural defenses against oxidative stress.
Why is preventing inflammation important for brain health? Kelsey Rosenbaum, RD, a senior area dietitian with Sodexo, explains that preventing inflammation combats oxidative stress and helps reduce plaque from forming in the brain that is associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
“In that sense, antioxidants are part of the brain’s defense system, helping protect the environment in which our brain cells need to function,” Rosenbaum says.
Recommended Daily Serving Size of Walnuts for Brain HealthRemember, walnuts should only be one of many nutrient-dense foods that are part of your diet if you want to support your brain health. Finley says that a standard serving of walnuts is roughly seven whole walnuts or 14 walnut halves.
“That amount provides a significant amount of healthy fats, including ALA omega-3s, while also giving you some protein and fiber,” Finley tells Parade. He points out that, while walnuts are nutrient-rich, they are also calorie-dense, which is why he recommends sticking to one serving. Don’t think that will be enough to fill you up? Pair your walnuts with berries and dark chocolate to up the antioxidant content of your snack even more.
Rosenbaum notes that a serving of walnuts fits naturally with the MIND diet, an eating plan that was specifically created to lower the risk of dementia. “The key is consistency. It’s not about eating a mountain of walnuts once in a while; it’s about making a modest serving a regular part of your diet,” she says.
Remember, no single food determines how your brain will age. All four dietitians emphasize that what your overall diet looks like matters more than whether or not your go-to snack is walnuts. That said, incorporating walnuts into your meal or snack will instantly up its nutrient value, and that’s something your whole body will benefit from.

1998 Nintendo Classic Is Getting a Major Makeover 28 Years Later
If you were anywhere near a Nintendo 64 in the late ’90s, you probably remember The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Maybe you spent entire Saturdays wandering around Hyrule, trying to figure out where you were supposed to go next. Maybe you still remember the ocarina songs, the first time you rode Epona or the sheer excitement of seeing Link in a fully 3D world. For a generation of players, Ocarina of Time wasn’t just another video game—it was the game. And now, nearly three decades later, Nintendo is giving those players a reason to dust off some very happy childhood memories.
@nixstahThe Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake looks amazing! #nintendo #nintendoswitch #zelda #gaming #nixstah
♬ original sound – NixstahIn honor of Nintendo’s Zelda 40th anniversary, the iconic gaming company just announced a remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic. Scheduled to arrive on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Switch 2, the new version will feature updated graphics and modernized gameplay while keeping all of the original’s signature features.
And honestly, that’s a pretty big deal for anyone who remembers just how huge this game felt the first time around.
Ocarina of Time Changed The Legend of Zelda ForeverOcarina of Time wasn’t just a huge hit for The Legend of Zelda. The beloved game introduced the series to a fully 3D world and helped influence features across future adventure games, including lock-on targeting, horseback exploration and a world that felt enormous at the time.
This game’s release was also a cultural moment for Nintendo fans. More than 500,000 copies were preordered in the U.S., and more than a million were sold in less than a week. Worldwide sales reached 7.6 million copies, but this game’s impact was so much bigger than the sales numbers.
Why Ocarina of Time Still Means So Much to Fans View this post on InstagramFor many people who first played Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64, the game is tied to a very specific moment in their lives. This was a game that could consume an entire Saturday, or even an entire weekend. It was the discovery of a 3D world for the first time, and it seemed like everybody, of every age, was talking about it.
There was something different about video games in that era, too. You didn’t have a walkthrough on your phone sitting beside you. You couldn’t instantly search for the answer when you got stuck. You explored, experimented and probably argued with your friends about what you were supposed to do next.
By bringing back the game, Nintendo isn’t just revamping a classic—it’s bringing back childhood memories and the joy of discovery for an entire generation that is now grown up and, in many cases, sharing those memories with their own children.

Jack Osbourne Shares Signs He's Received From Late Dad Ozzy Osbourne: 'Message Heard'
Jack Osbourne recently shared an unexpected and personal moment where he says he felt a sign from his late dad Ozzy Osbourne.
Speaking on the YouTube show, Make It A Good Night, the son of the late rocker shared that the presence of the Black Sabbath frontman, who died last year, came to him at a time when he may have needed it most.
Specifically, he recalled two instances where he received a sign from his dad while enduring a hectic travel day.
“I was on a shoot. I had to go down to Mexico. It was like a hellacious travel day, and I woke up and I’m in a pissed off mood. I end up getting to the airport, and I’m just in my head having one of those like real negative, like sh—y whatever moments … and someone comes running up next to me and like bumps me,” he said. “At which point, I’m like, “The f—! And I look up, and this guy runs off. He was clearly late for a flight, and he’s wearing a Black Sabbath patch on the back of his vest, and I’m like, okay, ‘Message heard.'”

On a second flight, Jack recalled once again how he got another “message” from his dad.
“I get a connecting flight through Guadalajara. I’m in the back of the plane. I’m sat here. I just want to get home to see my kids. I take my headphone out because I’m making the announcement. I’m like, just making sure I’m on the right plane,” he explained. “All of a sudden, I hear my dad’s music playing, and I look over to my right, and there must be this 65-70 year old Mexican cowboy dude sat there just watching one of my dad’s music videos.
“I’m just kind of like, ‘What the f—?'” he added. “Okay, ‘Message heard. Message heard.”
Ozzy died in July of 2025 of a heart attack. He also suffered from Parkinson’s for years ahead of his death. He was 76.

1976 Rock Song, Written in a Little Encino Apartment, Is Still a Powerful Hit 50 Years Later
Tom Petty wrote “American Girl” in a small apartment in Encino, California, while the sound of cars racing along a nearby freeway reminded him of ocean waves.
Fifty years after Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers recorded the song in 1976, it remains one of the band’s most recognized rock songs and a lasting part of Petty’s musical legacy.
The song appeared on the band’s self-titled debut album, released in November 1976. Although “American Girl” did not become a hit in the United States when it was first released as a single in 1977, it found an early audience in the United Kingdom, where it reached No. 40.

Its chart performance was only the beginning. Over the decades, “American Girl” grew into a classic rock staple. It has been ranked No. 169 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and has appeared in films, television shows, major live performances and tribute projects.
In June, the Tom Petty Estate marked 50 years since the formation of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers by releasing extended versions of “American Girl” and “Breakdown.”
The recordings were remixed from the original multitrack tapes in high-resolution audio and Dolby Atmos, giving fans another way to hear music first recorded half a century ago.
The story behind “American Girl” is different from the popular legend that followed it.
For years, a story circulated in Florida claiming that the song was inspired by a University of Florida student who died after jumping from Beaty Towers in Gainesville, according to Songfacts. The rumor became closely connected to the lyrics about a young woman, a balcony and cars traveling along Route 441.
Petty repeatedly rejected that story.
In Conversations with Tom Petty, he described the supposed Florida connection as an urban myth and explained that the song was written while he was living in California.
Petty said, “I was living in an apartment where I was right by the freeway. And the cars would go by. In Encino, near Leon Russell’s house. And I remember thinking that that sounded like the ocean to me. That was my ocean. My Malibu. Where I heard the waves crash, but it was just the cars going by. I think that must have inspired the lyric.”
He also explained that the words came quickly and marked the beginning of a songwriting theme that would appear throughout his career: people wanting something more from life.
Petty later said the character was not based on one specific person. Instead, she was a composite character who wanted more than life had given her. That idea helped give “American Girl” a meaning that reached beyond its title.
One unusual part of the recording came from Campbell’s guitar. The song was originally meant to have a 12-string guitar, but the band did not have one available, per Guitar World. Campbell instead used his 1951 Fender Broadcaster to create an octave effect that could imitate the sound they wanted.
“We didn’t have a 12-string, but we wanted one on the song,” Campbell says.
Campbell played octaves on the guitar to simulate the fuller sound of a 12-string. He did not initially like the result, but Petty wanted him to keep it. Campbell doubled the part, and the guitar became a key part of the finished recording.
Campbell described the relationship between the guitars as part of the sound that defined the Heartbreakers.
“It was the harmonics between the rhythm and the Broadcaster on top of it. That became the Heartbreakers’ sound.”
On Sept. 25, 2017, Petty and the Heartbreakers performed their final concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. “American Girl” closed the encore and became the final song Petty ever performed live.
Petty died on Oct. 2, 2017, just over a week after that concert.
Fifty years after the Heartbreakers formed, “American Girl” continues to carry the sound of their earliest days.
Understanding Warranties: Andersen vs. Pella Lifetime Guarantees
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
When a window fails, the warranty is supposed to make the problem easier—not leave you decoding legal language while staring at a fogged pane or damaged frame. That makes the warranty a meaningful part of any replacement-window decision.
The catch is that “lifetime warranty” does not mean the same thing across every window or manufacturer. In an Andersen vs Pella warranty comparison, the product series matters, as do glass coverage, non-glass components, installation labor and what happens when a home changes owners.
The Federal Trade Commission recommends reading a warranty before purchase and checking what it covers, how claims are handled and whether labor is included.
Need help determining whether your existing windows need repair or replacement? Schedule a free Renewal by Andersen consultation to have the windows evaluated and receive a written project price.
Does Andersen or Pella offer the better window warranty?Neither manufacturer has one universal warranty for every window. Andersen’s current standard residential warranties generally provide 20 years of glass coverage and 10 years for non-glass components, with Owner-to-Owner transferability. Several Pella product lines advertise limited lifetime coverage, but the duration and transfer rules vary by product.
Warranty Factor
Andersen
Pella
Glass
Generally 20 years on standard residential products
Varies by product; some current lines offer limited lifetime coverage
Frame/non-glass components
Generally 10 years
Varies by product; some lines offer limited lifetime coverage
Transferability
Owner-to-Owner transferability on current standard residential warranties
Varies; some lifetime coverage converts to a shorter transferable period
Labor
Product warranties generally state that replacement parts are provided and labor is not included
Product warranties vary; Pella states product warranties cover labor for the first two years
Installation
Depends on the specific warranty/product
Depends on the product and purchase channel; Pella Care Guarantee has separate terms
Warranty terms vary by series, product, purchase date, location and installation. Review the written warranty for the exact window.
Andersen’s Warranty: Strong Transferability, Defined CoverageAndersen’s current 100, 200, 400 and A-Series warranty comparison lists 20 years of glass coverage, 10 years of non-glass component coverage and Owner-to-Owner transferability.
The 400 and 200 Series warranty illustrates why the numbers need context. It covers factory-glazed glass for 20 years and non-glass components—including frame members, locks, hinges, handles and weatherstripping—for 10 years. However, Andersen explicitly states that labor is not included when replacement parts are provided.
Andersen also notes that its warranties vary according to product line, features, accessories and original purchase date. Homeowners should identify the exact series before assuming a particular coverage period.
Pella’s “Lifetime” Coverage Has ConditionsPella is more complicated to compare because its warranty terms differ substantially among wood, fiberglass, vinyl and newer product lines. Pella currently lists separate warranties for Reserve and Lifestyle wood products, Impervia fiberglass, and vinyl lines, including the 250 Series and Encompass.
For example, Pella’s current Vista Series warranty provides limited lifetime coverage for the frame and sash and contaminated insulated glass for the original purchaser of an owner-occupied single-family home. When ownership transfers, that coverage converts to 10 years. The same warranty provides two years of labor coverage, with labor coverage itself transferable.
Pella also states that its limited lifetime coverage, where offered, applies to the original purchaser in an owner-occupied single-family residence, subject to the written warranty’s exceptions and limitations.
What does the Andersen vs Pella warranty comparison mean for glass?Glass coverage deserves special attention because insulated-glass failures are not always obvious at first. Condensation or fogging between panes can indicate a failed seal, while cracks and other damage may have separate exclusions.
Andersen’s standard residential warranty covers manufacturing, material and workmanship defects in factory-installed glass for 20 years on the cited product lines. The warranty excludes certain specialty glazing products, and replacement glass does not automatically mean free installation labor.
Pella’s coverage depends on the exact series. Some current Pella warranties provide limited lifetime coverage for qualifying glass, while others use different periods. That makes a product-specific warranty document more useful than relying on a sales brochure’s “limited lifetime” language.
What happens to the warranty when you sell the house?Transferability is one of the biggest differences homeowners overlook. Andersen promotes Owner-to-Owner transferability across its current standard residential product warranties.
Pella’s rules depend on the product. In the current Vista warranty, for example, lifetime frame, sash and qualifying glass coverage for the original owner becomes 10-year coverage after a transfer of ownership.
The distinction is especially relevant if you expect to sell within the next several years. A warranty that follows the window can provide the next owner with documented protection, but the length and scope of that protection should be confirmed before purchase.
If you’re looking at damaged, drafty or fogged windows and aren’t sure whether repair makes sense, a professional inspection can separate a warranty issue from a replacement problem. Request a free Renewal by Andersen consultation.
Does a window warranty cover installation labor? This is where “lifetime” warranties often become less impressive. A manufacturer can replace a defective component without paying someone to remove the old part and install the replacement. Andersen’s 200 and 400 Series warranty expressly says replacement parts are provided with labor not included.
Pella says its product warranties cover labor for the first two years after purchase, while the length of product coverage varies by component.
Renewal by Andersen takes a different approach in its replacement-window warranty. Its limited warranties include 20 years on standard glass and Fibrex® material, 10 years on components and two years on professional installation, with parts, labor and installation services included for valid warranty claims.
The company also emphasizes that transferability and installation coverage should be evaluated alongside the length of a warranty—not treated as separate afterthoughts.
A Warranty Claim Still Depends on the Cause of the ProblemA warranty generally addresses covered manufacturing, material, workmanship or installation defects. It does not automatically cover every broken or deteriorated window.
Pella, for example, says modifications that contribute to a defect are not covered, and failure to follow applicable installation or maintenance requirements can affect coverage under its written warranties. That is why documenting the window’s condition and identifying the product before making a claim matters.
New Windows From Renewal by AndersenRenewal by Andersen
Professional window replacement from Renewal by Andersen can help you save money on your utility bills.
Which warranty details should homeowners compare? Before choosing between Andersen and Pella, get the exact written warranty for the product being quoted. Check:
- Glass coverage: How long does it last, and what glass defects qualify?
- Frame coverage: Is the frame covered for the same period as the glass?
- Hardware: Are locks, handles, balances and weatherstripping included?
- Labor: Does the manufacturer pay labor, and for how long?
- Installation: Is installation separately warranted?
- Transferability: Does coverage follow the house, and does the term change after a sale?
- Exclusions: Look for maintenance, modifications, storage, installation and geographic restrictions.
- Claim requirements: Keep the purchase documentation, product identification and warranty itself.
For homeowners, the most useful warranty isn’t necessarily the one with the biggest number. It is the one whose coverage matches the component most likely to fail and whose claim process is clear.
If your windows are already showing condensation between panes, damaged frames, air leakage or operating problems, the next step is to determine whether the issue calls for a repair or full replacement. Renewal by Andersen offers a free in-home consultation with an evaluation of existing windows and a written price for replacement options.

And while Confetti is the only flavor being handed out for free during National Bring the Joy Day, that’s not exactly a bad consolation prize. The colorful cake is finished with Nothing Bundt Cakes’ signature cream cheese frosting and comes in the bakery’s personal-sized Bundtlet format.
Just remember the magic number is 300. Once your local bakery hands out 300 Confetti Bundtlets on Sept. 15, the free cake party is over—so don’t wait until your afternoon commute to swing by your nearest location.
