2004 Film Was Just Ranked the 'Most Exciting Movie Masterpiece of All Time'

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:33pm

Even though action movies aren't always considered masterpieces, there are quite a few remarkable films that have plenty of thrills. For instance, on August 29, the publication Collider shared a list of the "10 most exciting movie masterpieces of all time."

The ranking included popular films like Mission: Impossible - Fallout from 2018, 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, Everything Everywhere All at Once from 2022, 2008's The Dark Knight, and Jaws from 1975.

The publication named the 2004 movie, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, which consists of Kill Bill: Volume 1(2003) and Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), as the most exciting movie masterpiece ever. Collider reported that Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, directed and written by Quentin Tarantino, is a thrilling, violent tale of revenge, led by Uma Thurman, who plays The Bride.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair has a score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 95 on Metacritic.

Quentin Tarantino Explained Why There Are Two 'Kill Bill' Films

Collider reported that Tarantino didn't plan on splitting up Kill Bill into two volumes, meaning Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is the film he had wanted to release. In a 2023 interview with CinemaBlend, the Pulp Fiction director said he "does think of it as one movie."

"Since I made it as one movie, and I wrote it as one movie, that's just some chicanery that I did in editing, now it looks really good that way," said Tarantino in the 2023 interview.

He then explained that the film was released in two parts because he didn't think audiences would want to watch a movie over four hours long.

"Frankly, the truth of that matter is, I don't think it would have been as popular as a four-hour movie. I literally had a guy say that to me. It was one of those weird diamond bullets. Every once in a while someone will say something to you, like okay, I can't unhear that. And he goes, 'Look Quentin, here's the thing man, my uncle Artie would love this movie. I mean he would love it. He wouldn't love it at four hours,'" said Tarantino.

1961 Classic Coming-of-Age Book is 'Heartbreaking, Sentimental, and Utterly Charming,' According to Goodreads

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:23pm

Since 1961, Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann have captured the hearts of readers who to this day comment on how "utterly captivating" and "heartbreaking" the novel is on Goodreads. Readers have lauded the book for decades and comment on how it has stuck with them even into adulthood them since they read it in grade school.

Written by Woodrow Wilson Rawls, Where the Red Ferns Grow was one of several unpublished novels Rawls would go back to multiple times over the course of three decades. Rawls would work on his stories in between being a carpenter and even spending time in prison in the 19030s for stealing chickens. Because of his lack of formal eduction, Rawls was very insecure about his writing and even burned his manuscripts in 1958 feeling too embarrassed by them. At the encouragement of his wife, Rawls would rewrite the story that would eventually become Where the Red Ferns Grow, published by Doubleday in 1961.

Sales of the novel initially were mediocre, but by 1974 the book had sold over 90,000 copies. Publisher's Weekly has estimated that the book has sold more than 6 million copies world wide.

What is the novel 'Where the Red Ferns Grown' about?

Where the Red Ferns Grow tells the story of Billy Coleman, who is reminiscing about his childhood growing up in the Ozarks. At 10 years old, Billy works odd jobs to procure the $50 he needs to purchase two coonhounds, who he names Old Dan and Little Ann upon purchasing them. After teaching the hounds to hunt, the trio become famous as the best hunters in the area. But tragedy strikes and leaves Billy contemplating what it all really means and what his purpose in life really is.

What is the legacy of 'Where the Red Ferns Grow?'

The novel was turned into a film in 1974 starring Stewart Petersen as Billy Coleman and James Whitmore as his grandfather. In 2003, Disney remade the film starring Joseph Ashton as Billy Coleman and Dave Matthews as Will Coleman.

On top of the multiple adaptations, Where the Red Ferns Grow is a story that has proved to leave an impact on generation after generation. It is a story of growing up, but also one that answers the ultimate question: how can life and death are both necessary in having a life worth living.

Janel Parrish and Chris Long Divorce as She Goes Public with Sasha Farber Romance

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:21pm

Janel Parrish and her husband Chris Long have filed for divorce, the same week that she became Instagram official with Dancing with the Stars pro Sasha Farber.

According to TMZ, the Pretty Little Liars star and her husband of seven years officially cut ties in a joint filing. Reported on Wednesday, the news comes just as she and Farber announced that they're dating after weeks of speculation. The outlet reported earlier this week that 37-year-old Parrish, and Long were separated, and have been for a few months.

Farber and Parrish sealed the deal on their relationship with a loved-up video posted on Wednesday where the two were dancing and ended their routine with a dip and a kiss.

"I'm the luckiest man in the world," Farber captioned the video, to which she commented, “My heart,” with heart emojis and a crown emoji.

The dancer also took to his Instagram Stories later in the day with a candid photo of Parrish captioned, "My view are you kidding me," with a heart face and rose emojis.

The dancing video wasn't there first post together that sparked rumors of a romance though, as the two also took to Instagram with a clip of them doing salsa recently. Farber and Parrish also posted April photo dumps where the two were looking quite cute together.

Parrish and Long tied the knot in 2018.

“He just is my person. My soul knows him,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “He’s my best friend in the entire world. And no matter what, if I’m having the worst day ever, I feel like I have somebody who understands me. And even if he doesn’t quite understand me at that moment, he tries to. And that feels so nice.”

However, Parrish and Farber were in the same world for a bit before she married Long, as the actress was a contestant on DWTS for Season 19 in 2014. She was partnered with Val Chmerkovskiyand came in third place. Farber, for his part, was a part of the show’s troupe at the time.

The DWTS staple was previously married to fellow pro Emma Slater from 2018-2023.

Ellen Made This Unexpected TV Announcement 29 Years Ago Today

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:15pm

Ellen DeGeneres is back in the spotlight amid news of a new Dory-centered short film.

Yes, millennials and plenty of others will recall that the Emmy winner, 68, once voiced the beloved fish in Finding Nemo and its hit sequel, Finding Dory.

DeGeneres was also very much in the spotlight nearly three decades ago, meanwhile. Thursday, April 30 marks exactly 29 years since the comedian made a major announcement on television that might have caught fans by surprise.

Here's the logline of the two-part episode of her beloved sitcomEllen, titled "The Puppy Episode": Ellen's life is changed when she meets Susan (Laura Dern), a lesbian whom she surprisingly finds attractive, and wrestles with accepting her sexuality.

As fans will recall, DeGeneres herself comes out to a co-star within the episode, which ultimately received critical acclaim, won awards and influenced Hollywood in the long run — even if the comedy series only lasted one more season.

The cancellation of Ellen in the late 1990s came amid reported clashing between DeGeneres and ABC following the episode, despite all the acclaim she received from fans simultaneously, per The New York Times.

Even though she reportedly struggled to find work following the axing of her sitcom, DeGeneres would ultimately thrive — particularly with her daytime talk show. In 2016, then-President Barack Obama awarded her the Medal of Freedom, saying:

“Just how important it was not just to the LGBT community, but for all of us to see somebody so full of kindness and light, somebody we liked so much, somebody who could be our neighbor or our colleague or our sister challenge our own assumptions, remind us that we have more in common than we realize, push our country in the direction of justice.”

In more recent years, however, DeGeneres faced a new kind of backlash due to reports of toxicity on set of her long-running talk show. But looking ahead, Pixar fans will certainly be tuning in to see her bring Dory back to life in the all-new short film.

Best-Selling Author Abby Jimenez Gets ‘Busted’ ‘Vandalizing’ Books and Fans Love It

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:11pm

Best-selling contemporary romance author Abby Jimenez recently shared a fun social media post that her fans loved. The author of The Night We Met and seven other novels got "caught" doing a bit of well-intentioned "vandalism" at a local Target store. Luckily, Jimenez didn't actually get into any trouble.

On April 29, Jimenez shared a new video via her Instagram page. Her caption on the video read, "Watch me get busted by Target staff vandalizing my own books."

Jimenez was signing copies of her books in the aisle of a local Target store. As she noted in the caption of her post, her The Friend Zone series of books was just re-released in a Target exclusive with new covers and artwork.

View this post on Instagram

The video showed Jimenez grabbing stacks of the books, The Friend Zone, Life's Too Short, and The Happy Ever After Playlist. She then crouched down and quickly signed an inside page of each of the books before she returned them to the shelves.

Jimenez glanced around somewhat anxiously from time-to-time, watching to see if she'd be caught. At one point, a Target employee did approach her. "Oh my God, I'm getting busted," she joked.

She then looked to the employee and told them, "Please don't bust me, I'm the author."

As she laughed, the employee told her, "No, you're good, you're good," as he kept walking.

One fan pointed out that this isn't the first time that Jimenez has done a "sneaky signing." The fan noted, "I can't tell you how much I love that you do this. It makes me smile each time...what a nice surprise for some readers!"

Another fan gushed, "If I ever found a secret signed edition I would pass away."

Some fans pointed out that the spot where Jimenez got "busted" was a bit ironic. "Getting busted for vandalism in front of the bible study section is too good," someone joked.

View this post on Instagram

Jimenez shared in a separate Instagram post that the three books in The Friend Zone series were just released with new matching covers in a deal with Target.

She explained, "The Friend Zone has brand new covers with sprayed edges, interior black & white art, and all have matching heights!!" Available now in-store and online "

Jimenez also noted that this was the series that "started it all."

Country Star Set for First TV Appearance Since Husband’s Tragic Death

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:06pm

Country music star Kellie Pickler is set to return to the show that made her famous. Pickler will return to AmericanIdol on the Monday, May 4, episode alongside some other Idol alums, including Taylor Hicks, Paris Bennett, Elliott Yamin, and Bucky Covington. The news was confirmed on the April 29 episode of the show's companion podcast, hosted by Danielle Fishel.

This will mark the first time that Pickler has appeared on television since the sudden death of her husband, Kyle Jacobs.

Pickler, who came in sixth place on the fifth season of American Idol, has not made many public appearances since Jacobs' death. She returned to the stage in 2024, performing during Walkin' After Midnight: The Music Of Patsy Cline at Ryman Auditorium on April 22, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. However, she has kept a very low profile over the past three years. In fact, she hasn't even posted to Instagram since May 2022.

According to E! News, Jacobs died by suicide in February 2023. He was just 49 years old.

"One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still.' I have chosen to heed his advice," Pickler said in a statement given to People magazine in August 2023.

“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way. It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers," she continued, adding, "I am planning an intimate memorial for my husband, which will happen later this fall, that is what Kyle would have wanted."

Pickler’s return to American Idol marks a meaningful step back into the spotlight after years out of the public eye.

‘Blue Lagoon’ Star Christopher Atkins, 65, Has a Laugh After Getting an Empty Amazon Package

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 12:04pm

The Blue Lagoon star Christopher Atkins is wondering where the rest of his Amazon package is.

The former teen heartthrob, 65, starred alongside Brooke Shields in the iconic movie about two teens who were marooned on a tropical island as children, and then grew up and fell in love. In later years, Atkins appeared on the legendary TV show Dallas. While his curls have fallen by the wayside over the years, Atkins is still as blonde as ever. These days, the actor is having a laugh after he received an Amazon package that contained absolutely nothing inside. Holding up the empty envelope, Atkins wondered where the rest of his package had gone.

Celebrating His 65th Birthday

For his recent 65th birthday, Atkins used that trademark sense of humor. While his head full of blond curls may be gone forever, his rugged good looks are still going strong. In a funny video, the actor pretended to lift a car over his head.

“Thank you all for the many wonderful birthday wishes from all over the world! I’m officially way over the hill but I still got it!” Atkins captioned the video.

View this post on Instagram What Does Atkins Say About Working With Brooke Shields?

A couple of years back, Atkins joined Shields on her Now What? podcast and talked about how a movie like Blue Lagoon, which had extensive nudity, “wouldn’t be allowed” to be made these days.

“You were right next to me, and that was even stranger because you were only 14 at the time,” Atkins said, Entertainment Weekly reported. “There were scenes that I was butt-naked with you, if you remember, sliding down that slide and things like that. And that was a little awkward, but it was kind of funny for me because, at this point, I just did it. But your reaction was, ‘Ugh, oh God.’”

“I was like, ‘Oh God, why do I have to look at this?’” Shields recalled. “‘I’ve never seen one of those before, and I’m not going to start now!’”

Emily Blunt Draws Backlash for ‘Out of Touch’ Career Advice That’s Angered Fans

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:58am

Hollywood actors have often been asked during interviews about how others should pursue their careers, seeing as they have reached fame. While promoting TheDevil Wears Prada 2, Emily Blunt was asked to advise women who hate their jobs, and the actor's response didn't sit well.

Blunt appeared alongside Stanley Tucci in a YouTube interview for Betches, where the actor was asked to give some career advice. In terms of women who are in fields or job titles they "hate," Blunt responded under her breath, saying, "Quit... no." Her real remark is what has rubbed fans the wrong way, and even called it a privileged response.

"Just find something that you deeply want to do. Even if you’re earning no money, as long as you love it, you’ll be happy," added the actor.

Blunt's response has since caused a stir on social media. Many have called it "awful" career advice, and something only someone with a net worth of millions can say. One fan commented, "That can only be said by an (over)privileged person. I'm sure she did not mean it like that, but damn, does that sound entitled lol. Not everyone's an overpaid Hollywood actor, some people can't choose a job just because, the majority of people in the world do a job because they need the money to pay for their lifestyle...especially in these times we're living in."

Another fan came to Blunt's defense, saying that there's really no good way to answer the question. They even call it a common, but "awkward" question, and believe Blunt was simply trying to convey that people can "still be working towards a job that you enjoy."

Related: ‘Jurassic Park’ Star Sam Neill Reveals He’s Cancer-Free After Five-Year Battle

Fans on social media came out to disagree with the advice, one fan commenting on X, saying, "It's a cross between vapid strip mall spirituality and the exploitive Boomer 'money isn't everything' exhortation."

"'Even if you're earning no money", but your bills are increasing," said another.

"Yeah we’re all happy with no money and no health insurance," one fan said.

Others have even joked using Blunt's the Devil Wears Prada character, saying, "I can't pay rent with DREAMS, EMILY!" and "I won’t be happy if I can’t pay rent or bills EMILY."

One fan also came to her defense, stating that Blunt's comment has some truth to it. They don't advocate for quitting everything that makes you a living, but "the quiet reminder not to abandon yourself completely" working a job that doesn't satisfy you.

KFC Launches New Lemonade, Sauces and a Big Bucket Deal

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:55am

KFC is refreshing its menu with new sips, dips and deals that fans don't want to miss.

The popular fried chicken joint recently added a slew of exclusive new Pepsi drinks, including Salted Caramel Pepsi and Tropicana Energy Escape. Still, social media users are all fawning over another new drink it's adding to its menus: Prickly Pear Lemonade.

The arrival of the tart and tangy new beverage is tied to a larger menu update that KFC has planned for this spring, one that offers two bold new dipping sauces, a Boneless Bucket deal and even more rotating $10 steals.

"Figuring out what’s for dinner is something everyone deals with," Melissa Cash, chief marketing officer at KFC U.S., shared in a statement. "We took what our fans love about $10 Tuesday and expanded it into something bigger—a weekday experience with more options at the same $10 price—so you can switch things up without spending more."

KFC Adds a New Prickly Pear Lemonade, Honey Chili Crisp and Jalapeño Ranch Sauces to Menus

According to an official statement shared with Parade, KFC's new Prickly Pear Lemonade makes the "perfect pear-ing" to any meal or snack. It starts with KFC's Signature Lemonade that's then infused with the sweet taste of prickly pear for a "vibrant, refreshing sip that perfectly complements your fried chicken favorites."

Along with the new beverage, KFC has two new sauces for customers to "dip, drench, and dunk" their chicken in.

  • Honey Chili Crisp, which the brand says offers the perfect balance of sweetness and heat.
  • Jalapeño Ranch, something KFC calls a combination of creamy ranch, cilantro and jalapeño for a fresh, "herb-forward kick."

All of which fans seem already enamored with, as one gushed on Instagram, "That prickly pear lemonade sounds delicious."

"Damn KFC STEPPIN up to da plate," a second declared.

A third simply said, "Yum."

"Definitely trying that prickly pear signature lemonade," someone else shared on Facebook. "Yum."

"Oooh that sounds delicious!" another cheered, noting, "Ten bucks isn't bad."

"I shouldn’t have seen this at this hour 🤤," one more joked.

KFC's New "Bucket of the Day" and "Boneless Bucket for One" Deals Promise to Deliver Big Flavor and Value

Nobody Puts Levi in the Corner—She’ll Be Sending It at the ‘Summer House’ Reunion

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:34am

Nobody puts Levi Sebree in the Summer House corner— and she's coming out, guns blazing at the reunion.

One of the new cast members, Levi, arrived alongside Bailey Taylor, the duo giving off pre-Giggly Squad, Hannah Berner, and Paige DeSorbo vibes. The twosome pulled one of the most legendary Summer Housepranks, dressing up as greenery in the house, and jump scaring nearly every cast member as they arrived at the house.

But well into the season, fans have noticed a lot less of Levi, worrying she may be phased out. She replied to a fan's comment on her Instagram about why she isn't featured more on the season. "Not yall debating why im not on the season in my own comment section hahaha," she wrote. The fan's comment wasn't in a silo—several people expressed that they were unhappy that they hadn't seen more of Levi on the show, also concerned she may not return next season.

View this post on Instagram

Not so fast. Levi recently confirmed at a Page Six live event that she throws down at the reunion and that she, Bailey, and Dara Levitan "go at it."

She also had some sharp words for West Wilson and Amanda Batula. “It was hard watching that version of [Amanda at the reunion] because we were all like, ‘What is happening? Like, snap out of it. This is not going to last,” she said during the same event. “This situation is not going to last. Like, what are you doing sacrificing… it was really hard.”

Much to nearly everyone's surprise, West and Amanda announced in March that they were dating. This announcement comes after they both denied rumors, and this season, fans are seeing West and Ciara Miller try to rebuild their friendship and possibly start dating. At the same time, Amanda told a publication that after her separation from husband Kyle Cooke, she wasn't planning to date anyone on Bravo.

So while Levi hasn't been front and center this season, don't count her out just yet. It appears she will send it at the reunion, which could help her return to the Hamptons.

Summer House is on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

‘Fear Factor’ Spinoff ‘48 Hours of Fear’: See the Cast, First Look and Terrifying Twist (Exclusive)

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:30am

Earlier this year, FOX gave fans of 2000s reality TV a nostalgia hit in the most exciting — and frightening — way. Fear Factor received its latest reboot in House of Fear, hosted by Johnny Knoxville. The series added more of a serialized strategic element to the familiar formula, albeit still with its fair share of terrifying scenarios. But, just when you thought it was safe to get out of the carnivorous fish-laden water, there's more on the way this year.

Fear Factor: 48 Hours of Fear is a new two-week special, once again hosted by Knoxville. Shown in two parts on May 14 and May 21, a group of six players will take on five challenges that will push their physical and mental fortitude to their limits. As you can see from the exclusive first look below, their tasks will range from getting covered in bees to sticking their faces into troughs filled with bugs to even walking on broken glass. But there's one key difference that makes this edition stand out from the rest: They'll be doing it on no sleep.

Like House of Fear, the players will be living together during the duration of the game. But they've all been outfitted with shock collars, which go off every time they attempt to doze off. How will this fatigue factor into performance? Will it fry their nerves even more? Could someone take a nap while tarantulas are dumped on their heads?

Take a look at the six contestants competing in Fear Factor: 48 Hours of Fear below, as well as the official trailer. Part 1 premieres on May 14, coming to a conclusion with Part 2 on May 21. Both episodes will air at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:25am

The queen of home decor and hosting, Martha Stewart, had a glamorous evening with a more official king on Wednesday night.

Taking to Instagram Thursday morning, Stewart shared a photo of her and King Charles during his stop in New York City, which was a part of his larger visit to the United States, along with Queen Camilla, that kicked off on Monday.

"Despite the myriad problems facing the world, and the rigors of demanding international travel, His Majesty was in excellent humor and form last evening in NYC at a Gala Dinner for the Kings trust international, his eponymous charity supporting young people and their entrepreneurial dreams," she wrote.

The gala, which took place at Manhattan's Christie's auction house celebrated The King's Trust, which according to the New York Times, is a charity that was founded by King Charles in 1976 "to expand opportunity for young people."

The event, which was a bit of a starry affair with celebrities like Iman, Anna Wintour, and Donatella Versace, and Lionel Richie, as attendees, along with Stewart, was complete with a red carpet.

As for specific interactions that Stewart had with Charles, the Times reported that she "complimented the king’s gardening talents and remarked at their shared passion."

Charles who spoke at the event, as part of his many speaking engagements during his U.S. visit, welcomed guests with a unifying message.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity, if I may say so, apart from anything else, that at this reception we can celebrate both my King’s Trust and the enduring cultural bond between the people of the United Kingdom and the United States,” he said. “Which is of course a relationship rooted in shared creativity, enterprise and value, reminding us that we are truly greater together.”

Also at the event was model Karlie Kloss, Stella McCartney, and Charlotte Tilbury.

1983 Single Ranked Among Best-Selling Songs of All Time Became a No. 1 Hit

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:24am

Michael Jackson's "Beat It" hit No. 1 on the charts 43 years ago today!

On April 30, 1983, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, staying at the top spot for three consecutive weeks and marking Jackson's fifth No. 1 hit from the Thriller album.

In 2021, Rolling Stone ranked "Beat It" No. 185 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time," with magazine also naming it the 81st greatest guitar song of all time.

“I wanted to write the type of rock song that I would go out and buy,” Jackson said of the song, per Rolling Stone, “but also something totally different from the rock music I was hearing on Top 40 radio.”

"Producer Quincy Jones wanted Jackson to write something like the Knack’s 'My Sharona,'" the outlet continued in its review. "The result was a throbbing dance single with West Side Story gang-war imagery and a fingers-flying guitar solo provided by Eddie Van Halen."

When Eddie Van Halen, lead guitarist of rock band Van Halen, was first asked by Quincy Jones to perform the guitar solo, he thought he was being prank-called.

After realizing the call was real, Van Halen agreed to record two takes of the now-famous solo free of charge.

"I did it as a favor," he said. "I was a complete fool, according to the rest of the band, our manager and everyone else. I was not used. I knew what I was doing—I don't do something unless I want to do it."

Rolling Stone music critic Christopher Connelly famously described "Beat It" as "maybe the best song" on Thriller, adding that it is "a this-ain't-no-disco [album-oriented rock] track if ever I heard one."

The track's music video, which featured members of rival Los Angeles gangs the Crips and the Bloods, established Jackson as a pop icon and helped make Thriller the best-selling album of all time.

"Beat It" won Record of the Year and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the 1984 Grammy Awards, is certified 8x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and is one of the best-selling songs of all time.

Michael, a biographical film covering Michael Jackson's life from his childhood in the Jackson 5 to his later superstardom and starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson is out in theaters now.

JD Vance on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, ‘It Was Tougher for My Wife’

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:18am

Vice President JD Vance recently opened up, sharing his experience at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. While on The Will Cain Show, Vance talked candidly about the terrifying ordeal, the Secret Service’s role, and his pregnant wife, Second Lady Usha Vance.

The VP told Cain, on Fox News, “Honestly, it was tougher for my wife, who was at home with the kids and started hearing things through text messages and social media, than it was for me. I really didn’t know what was going on.”

Vance also applauded the Secret Service for their quick action, adding that after two years, he's almost used to having agents around. “They’re the people who hang out with your kids when your kids are running around outside…It’s easy to forget that the reason they’re there is for nights like what happened Saturday night.”

Why Wasn’t Usha Vance at the WHCD?

When suspected shooter Cole Tomas Allen charged the security checkpoint and allegedly attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump along with other key members of the White House staff, SLOTUS Usha Vance was safe at home. So, why didn’t she attend the event?

The former lawyer and current Second Lady has three young children and another on the way. And that can make going to events, such as the Correspondents’ Dinner, almost impossible. Usha and J.D. Vance are parents to Ewan (born in 2017),  Vivek (born in 2020), and Mirabel (born in 2021).

In January, the Vances announced the pregnancy on Instagram with a post reading, “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.” While the Second Lady still has a few months until her due date, we completely understand the challenges wrangling three kiddos under nine while pregnant with a fourth.

Will Usha Vance Attend Other White House Events?

Yes, it’s hard to parent three (and one on the way). But that doesn’t mean Vance can’t live her life. And while she didn’t attend the WHCD with her husband, she may still make appearances at other White House events. Case in point, the Second Lady was photographed on Tuesday waiting to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla as they arrived for a multi-day tour of the U.S., including a State Dinner, a visit to New York City, and a speech to Congress.

Vance is also staying busy with ventures of her own. As a public figure, she’s often in the spotlight. The mother of three recently launched a new podcast, StoryTime with the Second Lady. This literacy-focused children’s series features interviews with notable guests and, of course, a story!

2011 Hit Film Ranked 'Best Romantic Comedy Movie' of All Time

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 11:04am

If you're the type to always go for something funny and heartwarming on movie night, there's a good chance you've seen the hit film that was ranked No. 1 on a list of the 63 best romantic comedymovies of all time—but if not, here's your opportunity to check it out.

The title given the honor of holding the top spot on the expansive roundup, published by Good Housekeeping in March 2025, is the star-studded Crazy, Stupid, Love, featuring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, and more.

For those unfamiliar, here's the plot: "Middle-aged Cal (Carell) divorces his wife after she has an affair. He meets pick-up artist Jacob (Gosling) who helps transform his look and teaches him how to seduce women — but is that really what they both want?"

Written by Dan Fogelman and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the PG-13 film released in 2011, first hitting theaters during the summertime on July 29. With a runtime of just under two hours, it received a 7.4/10 overall score rating on IMDb, collected from 588 user reviews.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the rom-com notched an 80% Tomatometer score. "It never lives up to the first part of its title, but Crazy, Stupid, Love's unabashed sweetness—and its terrifically talented cast—more than make up for its flaws," the Critics Consensus reads.

When casting Stone for the role of Hannah, who plays Gosling's love interest, the decision was easy, despite not initially fitting the bill for the part. "If I remember correctly, she wasn’t exactly what was described on paper, but John and I had both been taken with her in Superbad and then in Zombieland. It felt inevitable that she was going to hit," Ficarra told Entertainment Weekly ten years ago when the movie was released.

He continued that "it was very evident very early," further noting that of all the auditions, "she was the only one not to be intimidated by him, and in that moment John and I knew, 'All right this is it, she’s right for the part.'"

As for chemistry, the two actors hit it off from the very beginning. "They love each other in real life, and they get on like a house on fire. It wasn’t a lot of heavy lifting on our part. It’s making a move to hire the right chemistry," Ficarra added at the time.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max.
