‘I’m a Hepatologist, and This Is the One Thing I Tell Every Patient With Fatty Liver To Start Eating’
Fatty liver disease is a common condition, affecting 25 percent of Americans (many of whom don’t even know it). It happens when fat builds up in your liver cells. Fatty liver disease can stem from various health factors, such as insulin resistance, an overconsumption of alcohol, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.
After receiving a fatty liver disease diagnosis, you may want to gain a better understanding of how to treat the condition (or even reverse it, since it is reversible). Your doctor might tell you which foods to limit, for example, or share other liver health tips (after all, health is about more than food). Plus, adding foods—not just limiting them—can be helpful. In the case of fatty liver disease, it’s about opting for foods that decrease fatty liver cells because yes, some do just that.
Ahead, hepatologists reveal the main thing they tell every patient with fatty liver to start eating more of—plus how much, how it helps and other foods to add to your grocery list. For what it’s worth, and perhaps surprisingly, the No. 1 food they mention isn’t a fruit or vegetable. In fact, you might dip your bread in it or use it to bake a cake.

Believe it or not, the main thing hepatologists are begging individuals with fatty liver disease, which is also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, or MASLD, to eat is extra virgin olive oil (which also has brain health benefits, by the way). It has useful compounds, such as monounsaturated fats, or “healthy” fats, and plant antioxidants called polyphenols.
“Think of extra virgin olive oil as a green light for your liver’s fat-burning machinery,” explains Dr. Hal Brindley, a Doctify-reviewed consultant hepatologist and gastroenterologist at HCA London Bridge Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. “These compounds act like a traffic controller: They flip off the biological switches that store fat in the liver and flip on the switches that burn fat for energy.”

Not sure how to incorporate it more into your life? You can use it as a salad dressing, drizzle it over roasted vegetables or swap it for butter, just to name a few avenues. In other words, don’t worry: It won’t be as hard as you might think.
“Replacing butter, margarine and other saturated cooking fats with extra virgin olive oil is a simple, actionable change that can be easy to adopt for patients, and this single substitution can reduce hepatic fat independently of caloric restriction or weight loss,” adds Dr. Pradnya Mitroo, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist, hepatologist and managing partner at Fresno Digestive Health.
Dr. Brindley recommends eating one-and-a-half to two tablespoons a day, while Dr. Mitroo encourages shooting for three to four.

Other Helpful Foods and Drinks for MASLDDietary health is all about incorporating a variety of foods, so hepatologists share a few other options that can help people with fatty liver disease.
Fatty, oily fishThis type of fish comes in many forms, such as salmon, sardines and mackerel. They’re packed with omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA.
“Omega-3 fats get built directly into the lining of your liver cells, making them more flexible and resilient,” Dr. Brindley explains. “They also lower blood levels of triglycerides (circulating fats), preventing extra fat from settling inside liver tissue.”
Dr. Mitroo adds that the omega-3s “decrease de novo fat production in the liver,” meaning they decrease the amounts of fat produced there.
Eating about four to five ounces of oily fish about two to three times a week should do the trick, hepatologists agree. You can switch up how you eat it for variety, too; for example, you could have grilled fish for your dinner entrée, or throw some fish in a salad or sandwich.

NutsNuts—especially tree nuts and walnuts—are another smart choice. They contain another omega-3 fat, ALA, according to Dr. Brindley. Plus, they have fiber that feeds the “good” bacteria in your gut.
He encourages eating a small handful every day. This could be on top of yogurt for breakfast or as a snack later in the afternoon—whatever you’re feeling.
Other helpful nuts, according to Dr. Mitroo, are almonds and pistachios. They’re a great source of “good” fat. He recalls reading studies that said eating more than three servings a week is protective against fatty liver disease.
CoffeeYep, your morning caffeine is doing your liver a favor! Dr. Mitroo has seen studies that three cups of filtered coffee a day, without any additives, can decrease the risk of MASLD and liver fibrosis.
Dr. Brindley explains the science behind it. “When your body breaks down coffee, it produces compounds that block special cells in the liver (hepatic stellate cells) from making scar tissue,” he says. “Over time, drinking coffee helps prevent the formation of stiff, fibrous tissue (fibrosis) that leads to serious liver disease.”
Eating liver-healthy foods like these is crucial—maybe even more so than you think.
“MASLD/fatty liver disease is fast becoming a major cause of liver transplant in this country, and already the number one cause of a liver transplant in women, and it is reversible with the right dietary changes,” Dr. Mitroo says.

Dolly Parton's Sister Sounds Just Like Her in Tribute Shared One Day Before Her Death
Just one day before Dolly Parton’s death, her sister Stella Parton shared a funny story about growing up with the country legend—and fans couldn’t get over how much Stella sounds like her famous sister.
Stella, who is a singer and songwriter in her own right, has the same unmistakable twang, warmth and playful sense of humor that made Dolly so beloved. Hearing her tell a story about the sister she knew long before the rhinestones, hit songs and worldwide fame is especially poignant now. Stella also called Dolly “one of the greatest songwriters of all time,” a simple tribute that carries even more weight following Dolly’s death on August 25.
View this post on Instagram“What’s funny is, I thought, ‘This woman sounds exactly like Dolly.’ I never knew she had a sister,” one fan shared in the comments on Stella’s social media tribute.
Another added, “If they ever do a movie again about Dolly’s life, she needs to play her, as she sounds exactly like how Dolly sounded way back when.”
One more gushed, “Are all of the Parton women naturally funny? I’ve never seen Stella perform, but judging from this clip, she’s great!”
And honestly, they have a point.
There’s something immediately familiar about hearing Stella speak. The twang is there. So is the cadence, the warmth and that perfectly timed Southern humor. If you closed your eyes, you might think you were listening to Dolly tell the story herself.

Stella Parton Gives Fans a Glimpse of DollyWhat’s remarkable about Stella’s post isn’t just discovering that Dolly Parton had a sister named Stella.
It’s getting to see another side of Dolly Parton, this time through the eyes of someone who knew her before the rest of the world did.
Long before the awards, accolades, big hair, movie roles and late-night talk show appearances, Dolly Parton was simply one of 12 children growing up in a one-room house in the mountains of Tennessee.
Stella was one of Dolly’s five sisters, and the two grew up sharing the kind of childhood stories that don’t make it into a celebrity biography.
That’s what makes Stella’s anecdote so charming. She isn’t talking about Dolly the superstar. She’s talking about Dolly the sister.
Dolly Parton Was a Big Sister Before She Was a SuperstarDolly Parton was the fourth oldest of 12 children, with six brothers and five sisters. She was a big sister long before she became one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world.
And while Dolly eventually became known for her enormous career, she never seemed to lose that ability to make people feel like they were sitting in the room with her.
That quality showed up everywhere, from her music and movies to her friendships and collaborations.
Dolly’s 9 to 5 co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin became lifelong friends. Her Trio albums with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt became some of the most celebrated collaborations of her career. Dolly had a way of making professional relationships feel personal, and friendships feel like family.
But Stella’s story gives fans something those famous collaborations can’t.
It gives us Dolly at home.
Stella Called Dolly One of the Greatest Songwriters Ever @stellaparton✨BREAK MY MIND✨1970
♬ original sound – Stella PartonStella’s admiration for her sister is also impossible to miss.
While sharing her funny childhood story, she called Dolly “one of the greatest songwriters of all time,” a fitting description for an artist whose songs have been recorded by generations of performers and whose songwriting became one of the defining parts of her legacy.
Dolly could write a heartbreaking ballad, a hilarious country song or a pop crossover hit, but so many of her best songs had something in common: They felt like stories someone was telling you directly.
Stella knew that gift long before the rest of us did.
And now, following Dolly’s death, hearing her sister talk about that talent feels particularly meaningful.
Dolly Parton’s Sister Sounds Remarkably Like HerThere’s another reason Stella’s tribute is resonating with fans: She really does sound like Dolly.
It isn’t just the Southern twang. There’s a similar musicality in the way she speaks, the same warmth in her delivery and a similar sense of humor that makes even a simple childhood anecdote feel like a performance.
For fans who grew up listening to Dolly, the resemblance is almost startling.
And in the wake of Dolly’s death, it makes the clip feel even more special.
Fans are understandably revisiting Dolly’s performances, interviews, movies and music right now, looking for the moments that remind them why they loved her in the first place. Stella’s video offers something different.
It gives them a glimpse of Dolly before she was Dolly Parton.
A Little Piece of Dolly Lives OnIn the days since Dolly’s death, the tributes have understandably focused on the enormous legacy she leaves behind: the songs, the movies, the awards, the philanthropy and the millions of people she inspired.
Stella’s tribute offers a much more intimate reminder.
Before Dolly belonged to the world, she belonged to her family.
She was a daughter, a sister and a little girl from Tennessee who grew up in a crowded home with 11 siblings and a dream that eventually became bigger than anyone could have imagined.
And somehow, listening to Stella tell her story, with that familiar twang and unmistakable sense of humor, it feels like we get a tiny piece of Dolly back.

1964 Ballad Written by 16-Year-Old Paul McCartney Was Recorded in Just 8 Takes—and Became a Beloved Beatles Hit
Not every teenager can write a hit song while sitting around at home recovering from the flu, but Paul McCartney? Well, that guy was not every teenager. And not every band can record a future classic in less than 10 takes, but the Beatles? Well, they were not every band.
Released in 1964 on Beatles for Sale in the U.K. and the next year on Beatles ’65 in the U.S., “I’ll Follow the Sun” was recorded in just eight takes on Oct. 18, 1964, according to the Beatles Bible. Interestingly enough, the final take was apparently the only one to include electric guitar, as all the others had an acoustic guitar break.
The song’s genesis, however, dates back several years earlier, to 1959, when McCartney was just a kid.
“I wrote that in my front parlor in Forthlin Road. I was about 16,” McCartney explained in Mark Lewisohn’s The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions.
“‘I’ll Follow the Sun’ was one of those very early ones,” he continued. “I seem to remember writing it just after I’d had the flu and I had that cigarette — I smoked when I was 16 — the cigarette that’s the ‘cotton wool’ one. You don’t smoke while you’re ill but after you get better you have a cigarette and it’s terrible, it tastes like cotton wool, horrible. I remember standing in the parlor, with my guitar, looking out through the lace curtains of the window, and writing that one.”
In his book The Lyrics, McCartney expanded on the meaning behind “I’ll Follow the Sun,” calling it a “leaving of Liverpool song.”
“I’m leaving this rainy northern town for someplace where more is happening,” McCartney continued. “It’s an interesting melody too. I’d been searching for striking new combinations of notes. There’s something quite original about it. One of my favorite songs of my dad’s era was ‘Cheek to Cheek,’ the Fred Astaire song, and what I liked was that it starts with ‘Heaven, I’m in heaven,’ and it goes through two verses and comes back at the end of the middle eight to ‘heaven.’ It’s a single sentence. It was like our house in Forthlin Road. You went in the front door, went around through the living room, dining room, kitchen, hall, and ended up back where you started. ‘I’ll Follow the Sun’ does that too.”
According to McCartney, “I’ll Follow the Sun” wasn’t originally a regular part of the Beatles’ live repertoire.
“We had this hard R&B image in Liverpool, so I think songs like ‘I’ll Follow the Sun,’ ballads like that, got pushed back to later,” he said.
Another thing that set “I’ll Follow the Sun” apart from the rest of the band’s early tracks was the fact that Ringo Starr kept the beat in an unusual way.
“On the record we got Ringo to tap his knees. McCartney revealed in Many Years From Now. “We were thinking in terms of singles and the next one had to always be different. We didn’t want to fall into the Supremes trap where they all sounded rather similar, so to that end, we were always keen on having varied instrumentation. Ringo couldn’t keep changing his drum kit, but he could change his snare, tap a cardboard box or slap his knees.”
Of course, the Beatles clearly had the right strategy, considering they went on to have a whopping 20 hits go to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Sandra Bullock Shares Heartwarming Memory of Sleeping Next to Dolly Parton
Sandra Bullock is joining the throngs of celebrities paying homage to the late, great Dolly Parton.
While at the Practical Magic 2 premiere in London, Bullock, 62, opened up about working with the “Jolene” singer on Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous in 2005, and shared her favorite memory.
She detailed how, due to her fear of flying, she avoided planes and would use a tour bus. While filming the sequel in Las Vegas, Parton also traveled via her tour bus, and the two ultimately slept side by side.
“[Parton] came to Vegas, and she pulled her tour bus up next to mine—I think it was pink, of course—And I said, ‘Okay, so, Miss Parton, we’ve got a hotel and room for you that’s massive.’ And she goes, ‘No, I’ll stay in the bus,'” Bullock told People magazine. “Then I’m sleeping on the bus.”
She went on to sweetly add, “She’s here. She sprinkles everywhere. She’s not going anywhere.”
Photo Credit: Warner Bros.In Miss Congeniality 2, Bullock’s character, Gracie, tackles Parton, mistaking her for an impersonator, and at the time, Bullock applauded Parton’s sense of humor while filming the scene.
“I was literally lying on top of her, and I didn’t feel comfortable with this, but she looked at me and said: ‘We’re going to put the Madonna-Britney kiss to shame,'” Bullock said in an interview with the BBC. “Really, she was everything you’d want her to be and more.”
Parton died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80, inspiring many to share their favorite memories of the country legend, including Bullock’s Practical Magic co-star Nicole Kidman.
Kidman shared a rare photo with her two daughters, ex-husband Keith Urban, and Parton in her Instagram Stories, along with the caption, “We will always love you, Dolly.”
She also paid tribute to Parton at the Practical Magic 2 London premiere, adding, “She was so genuine and so philanthropic… what a songwriter, what a woman, and what a person who came from nothing and built herself. Everything she did was extraordinary.”

'60s Hit, Recorded By a 21-Year-Old After Elvis' Version Was Passed Over in the U.S., Became a No. 1 Smash 65 Years Ago Today
In 1961, a 21-year-old singer named Joe Dowell walked into his first recording session with just three hours to learn a song that Elvis Presley had already taken to No. 1 overseas. Within weeks, Dowell’s version of “Wooden Heart” would accomplish something Elvis’ hadn’t: reach No. 1 in America.
Sixty-five years ago this week, “Wooden Heart” was in the midst of its run atop the Billboard Hot 100, completing one of the more unlikely journeys to No. 1 of the early 1960s.
Elvis had introduced “Wooden Heart” in his 1960 movie G.I. Blues. Adapted from the German folk song “Muss i denn,” the tune was written by Bert Kaempfert, Kay Twomey, Fred Wise and Ben Weisman and even retained portions of the original German lyrics.
Elvis’ recording became an enormous international success, spending six weeks at No. 1 in the U.K. in 1961 and topping the charts in several other countries. But American fans couldn’t simply go out and buy “Wooden Heart” as an Elvis single.
And that opened the door for Dowell.
How Joe Dowell Ended Up Recording Elvis’ ‘Wooden Heart’According to music historian Fred Bronson’s “The Billboard Book of Number One Hits,” producer Shelby Singleton Jr. went to a screening of G.I. Blues the day before Dowell was scheduled to record his first four songs for Mercury Records’ new Smash label.
One of the songs Singleton heard was “Wooden Heart.”
Elvis already had another single climbing the Hot 100 at the time, “(Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame,” and Singleton believed it was unlikely RCA would also release “Wooden Heart” as an Elvis single in the United States. He decided Dowell should record it instead.
There was one rather significant obstacle: Dowell didn’t know the song.
He arrived at the recording session at 11 a.m. and was given three hours to learn it. A man named Eddie Wilson came to the office to teach him the German portion.
“I didn’t have any idea what I was singing; I learned the song phonetically,” Dowell recalled to Bronson.
Then he went into the studio and recorded it.
The session also featured a musician who would soon become famous in his own right. Ray Stevens, then at the beginning of his career, played organ on Dowell’s recording.
‘Wooden Heart’ Became Joe Dowell’s First and Only No. 1 HitSmash released Dowell’s “Wooden Heart,” and the record entered the Hot 100 at No. 98 on June 26, 1961.
Nine weeks later, it was No. 1.
“Wooden Heart” knocked Bobby Lewis’ “Tossin’ and Turnin'” out of the top spot after Lewis had spent seven weeks at No. 1. Dowell’s record ultimately spent one week atop the Hot 100 and also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Easy Listening chart.
It was an extraordinary beginning for both singer and label: “Wooden Heart” was Dowell’s first single and became the first Smash Records release to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100.
Dowell remembered that his recording had been completed in just three days before he was sent on what Bronson described as a month-long promotional tour.
The young singer had dreamed about hearing himself on the radio for years. Growing up in Illinois, he listened to WLS and later recalled imagining that one day his own voice might come through the speaker.
With “Wooden Heart,” it finally did.
Elvis’ ‘Wooden Heart’ Eventually Came Out in AmericaElvis’ recording, meanwhile, had already become a major hit across Europe. In addition to its six-week run at No. 1 in Britain, “Wooden Heart” topped the charts in countries including West Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway.
American listeners eventually got an Elvis single release, but not until years after Dowell’s No. 1 run. RCA issued “Wooden Heart” as the B-side of “Blue Christmas” in the United States in 1964.
For Dowell, matching the success of his debut proved impossible. He followed “Wooden Heart” with “The Bridge of Love,” which reached No. 50, and “Little Red Rented Rowboat,” which climbed to No. 23. He was dropped by the label at age 23.
Dowell eventually stepped away from the recording industry and found another use for the voice that had taken him to No. 1, working in radio and television and writing commercial jingles. He died in 2016 at age 76.
But for one week in the summer of 1961, the young singer who had been given only three hours to learn an unusual song from an Elvis movie sat at the very top of America’s biggest music chart.
Leah Remini Has Joined 'Real Housewives' — Here's What Fans Are Saying
She’s no stranger to reality TV, as proven through her competitive spirit on Dancing With the Stars.
So, why not rope Leah Remini into a long-running Bravo show? After all, there’s always a bit of competition amongst The Real Housewives.
Variety reports that the King of Queens star, 56, has joined season 16 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a full-time cast member.
The entertainment website Reality Blurb took to social media to announce the cast addition, and fans didn’t hold back in sharing their variety of reactions in the Instagram post’s comments section. There were plenty of positive responses, with one user writing, “Of Finally someone who is authentic!! I hope she and Tilly get along. They are great.” Another fan commented, “OMG, this will be epic 🙌❤️.”
Others, however, seems to have reservations about the choice. “Ok. We shall see how much is ‘real’ & how much is her acting again,” one Instagram user commented, while another person wrote, “She doesn’t have a inch of Housewife in her.”
Meanwhile, Tracy Tutor is also joining the group, as fans are already well aware. The real estate agent and ex-Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles star, 51, made the announcement via Instagram on August 19.
Remini and Tutor will co-star with returning full-time cast members:
- Kyle Richards
- Erika “Jayne” Girardi
- Dorit Kemsley
- Bozoma Saint John
- Rachel Zoe
- Sutton Stracke
Kathy Hilton and Jennifer Tilly will also be back as “friends” of the cast, Variety also noted on Wednesday, August 26.
Remini Is ‘Proud of the Family’ She Built With Her ExRemini drew attention earlier this year when she posted a heartfelt message about family—and a recent photo that includes her ex-husband, Angelo Pagan. “In a world where so much feels curated and performative, I have come to appreciate the rare beauty of families that change shape, but never lose the love that is real,” Remini, 55, captioned an Instagram post.
“Some may not understand it. But I am incredibly proud of the family we built – and even more proud of the family we chose to remain,” she added.

As Kevin McHale makes his Broadway debut this week, he’s honoring his late costar, Cory Monteith, with a sweet nod in his Playbill biography.
The Glee alum, fresh off of a run in the off-Broadway revival of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, has officially taken over the role of Brad in the Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show—an honor he and Monteith have in common, as the late actor once portrayed the lovable nerd when, in the fifth episode of Season 2, the New Directions took on the cult classic.
Fans who were in attendence when the McHale hit the Broadway stage for the first time on Aug. 25 noted an emotional inclusion for Monteith, who died during the production break between the fourth and fifth seasons of Glee at just 31 years old.
“For Cory, his forever Brad,” the actor’s bio concluded, as seen in a snapshot uploaded to social media.

— alexa! (@unofficialAKP) August 26, 2026It was almost too much to take for dedicated fans of the pair and the series, with one commenter admitting, “Oh I’m gonna sob.”
“I’m sick to my stomach over this 😭,” another wrote, while a third agreed, “Its too early to cry…this is so sweet ♥️😭.”
“Damn it Janet 😭,” another quipped.
Fans would have been emotional over the heartfelt gesture either way, but in light of the week’s other difficult losses, with Dolly Parton and Tim Curry dying back to back, it was an especially tearjerking addition to the zeitgeist.
“OH COME ON😭😭😭😭😭 HIT ME WHILE IM ALREADY DOWN,” another exclaimed.
August has proven to be a heavy month, with the two legends, both 80, dying just weeks after the unexpected loss of Hayden Panettiere at only 36 years old.

’90s Alternative Rock Legends Make History With ‘Greatest Hits’ Spending a Decade on the Charts
Looks like the U.K. loves the Red Hot Chili Peppers as much as the U.S. does. Maybe even more, as the legendary alternative rock band has just passed a major milestone in the country across the pond.
According to Forbes, RHCP’s 2003 Greatest Hits album, which blends bangers from 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik, 1995’s One Hot Minute, 1999’s Californication, and 2002’s By the Way, has now officially spent 520 weeks—10 years—on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart. The compilation is currently at No. 41, making it the band’s first release to reach the decade mark on the tally.
View this post on InstagramAnd the collection isn’t thriving on just the main albums chart. Greatest Hits is currently No. 32 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Streaming chart, where it has accumulated 600 weeks.
Released Nov. 18, 2003, Greatest Hits is a delightful summary of the band’s dominant alternative rock era on Warner Bros. Records. This was around the time that the band had just wrapped their massive global tour for 2002’s By the Way.
Firing on all cylinders, the band’s core lineup—Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and returning guitarist John Frusciante—curated a 16-track collection that focused heavily on their ’90s and early 2000s golden age. Of course, they added two new tracks* for good measure.
Greatest Hits Tracklist- “Under the Bridge”
- “Give It Away”
- “Californication”
- “Scar Tissue”
- “Soul to Squeeze”
- “Otherside”
- “Suck My Kiss”
- “By the Way”
- “Parallel Universe”
- “Breaking the Girl”
- “My Friends”
- “Higher Ground”
- “Universally Speaking”
- “Road Trippin'”
- “Fortune Faded”*
- “Save the Population”*
Upon its original release, the album was a hit, peaking at No. 18 in the U.S. and No. 4 in the U.K. In 2006, the guys followed it with the massive Stadium Arcadium. That album, which spent 66 weeks on the Billboard 200, climbed to the top, peaking at No. 1 in May 2006, and became their first No. 1 album.
These days, the RHCP are writing and recording material for their 14th studio album, hunkered down at Frusciante’s house, no less.

“We’ve been writing music together, recording at John Frusciante’s house, and the music feels great,” they told MOJO, per Consequence. “Ultimately, once we start playing, it’s about … just catching a magic groove and doing it good.”
In addition to solo projects, such as Flea’s debut jazz album and Kiedis’ coffee brand, the West Coast outfit, which performed beachside during the Paris 2024 Olympic closing ceremony handover segment for LA28, has the Summer Games to look forward to. As does the rest of the world.

Tim Curry Never Married, but He Once Revealed the Great Love of His Life
Tim Curry famously kept his personal life private, rarely discussing past relationships and partners.
However, before his death on August 26, 2026, at the age of 80, Curry did reveal the “great love of his life” and simultaneously showed off his signature sense of humor.
Related: Luke Evans Wrote a Letter to Tim Curry Three Weeks Before His Death
In an interview with Charlie Adler in 2019, six years after experiencing a stroke, Curry was asked if there was ever one great love of his life that got away and that he regrets.
Without hesitation, Curry answered, “Sure, there always is. Piggy,” before jokingly adding, “I’ll tell you, once you’ve had pork, you never go back.”
Curry starred alongside Miss Piggy in the 1996 adventure comedy Muppet Treasure Island as a pirate named Long John Silver. Piggy played Benjamina Gunn, an ex-romantic partner of Silver.
Following his death, Piggy paid tribute to the iconic actor, writing, “Moi will never forget vous, Long John,” with a pink heart emoji.
The Muppets also paid homage to Curry. “Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry,” the statement read. “As a performer, he was unparalleled — witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.”
In real life, Curry seldom spoke of his private life, and in his 2025 memoir “Vagabond,” he reassured fans he had experienced love and heartbreak.
“I guarantee you, if it matters, that I have experienced true love, true heartbreak, and everything in between, including no small amount of wreckage. Which, naturally, helps inform who I am,” he wrote. “I have loved and been loved, and I hope you have, too. But I’m not interested in your romances.”
He continued, “And specifics about my affairs of the heart or the bedroom are — respectfully — none of your f–king business.”
I Tried the New Dr. Jart+ BB Cream—and the Shade Range Finally Works for My Skin
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
There is a specific makeup calculus that happens every summer when the temperature crosses 90 degrees and the idea of wearing foundation becomes almost offensive. Foundation is for fall. Foundation is for air-conditioned offices and evening events when you have some serious time to get it right.
In summer, you need something that gives you coverage without making you feel like you’re wearing a second skin—ideally one that also has SPF so you can skip a step entirely. This is the BB cream promise, and it’s a promise the K-beauty category has been delivering on for decades.
I’ve been using Dr. Jart+ BB Cream in various iterations for years, so when the brand updated the formula in 2026 and—crucially—expanded the shade range, I wanted to see what actually changed.
As someone who is very fair and very cool-toned, “lightest shade” products have historically been a gamble. Sometimes they match. More often they leave me looking vaguely peachy or weirdly warm, and occasionally I am serving fully reanimated corpse! Luckily, the new Fair shade is a different story.
The reformulated Premium BB now comes in eight flexible tints—up from six in the previous formula—plus the new shades are designed to adapt more seamlessly across a multitude of fair to deep skin tones.

What Is Dr. Jart+ BB Cream—and What’s New About This Formula?BB cream is beauty balm, for anyone who missed the original K-beauty wave! Welcome to the craze! It is a hybrid product that sits somewhere between a tinted moisturizer and a light foundation.
The Dr. Jart+ version has been a cult product for years specifically because it was developed by a dermatologist-inspired brand with a focus on skin health rather than just coverage.
Laura Beck
The updated Premium Korean BB Cream Tinted Moisturizer keeps the core concept but reformulates the texture and expands the shade options, which is the change that matters most if you’ve ever picked up the “lightest” shade of something and watched it oxidize orange by noon.
The new formula is a creamy-gel texture with glycerin, 2% niacinamide and SPF 30 built in. It’s inspired by Korean post-procedure balms—the kind formulated to be gentle enough for skin that’s just been through a treatment—which explains why it’s non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested and suitable for acne-prone skin.
The clinical results are also pretty spectacular, with 100% of testers showing improved hydration and skin radiance, and 97% said it minimizes the look of acne scars and blemishes after one week of use.
Does Dr. Jart+ BB Cream Actually Replace Moisturizer, Sunscreen and Foundation? This is the question I was testing in real time, and the answer is, in fact, yes, on the days when you want it to. The glycerin and niacinamide do enough hydrating work that I didn’t feel like I needed a separate moisturizer underneath—my skin felt comfortable and not at all tight throughout the day.
The SPF 30 covers daily broad-spectrum protection. And the coverage, while buildable, gives enough of an evening effect that I didn’t feel underdressed for a normal day out.
Of course, it doesn’t replace a full-coverage foundation for events where you need more, a heavy-duty SPF 50 if you’re spending a day outside, or a dedicated serum if you’re working on specific skin concerns. It’s a streamlining product, not a replacement for your entire routine. But on a busy summer morning when I want three steps instead of seven, it’s exactly right.
What Does Dr. Jart+ BB Cream Feel Like on the Skin?Laura Beck
This is where the update delivers. The texture is lightweight in a way that doesn’t feel like a compromise—it glides on smoothly, blends easily with fingers or a brush and dries down to a satin finish that reads as skin rather than product. It’s not tacky, not heavy and not the kind of thing that sits in your pores. It stays put all day and doesn’t come off until you double cleanse that night. (And you should double cleanse!)
The brand recommends waiting up to two minutes after application for the formula to fully adapt to your skin tone, and this step is important. The formula is designed to change toward your natural undertone as it sets, which is part of why the shade matching feels more accurate than previous versions—it’s not just sitting on top of your skin doing its own thing.
For my very fair, cool-toned skin specifically, the new Fair shade adapted beautifully. Previous iterations ran slightly warm on me, which created that “I’m clearly wearing something” effect I abhor. This one settles into something super close to my natural skin tone with just enough coverage to look like a better, more even version of my face.

How Long Does Dr. Jart+ BB Cream Last?All-day wear is what the brand claims, and the clinical testing supports it—97% of testers said skin felt moisturized all day after a week of use. My experience tracks with that. I applied it in the morning, and by early evening it had faded gracefully rather than oxidizing into a weird color or separating into patchy coverage.
The satin finish holds reasonably well through a normal day, though if you’re in intense heat or humidity you may want a light setting powder over the top to extend it.
Who Is This BB Cream Actually For?Laura Beck
Honestly, this BB cream would work for most people who want coverage without committing to foundation. It works for days when you want to look put-together without looking made up—the finish is natural enough that people will assume your skin just looks good rather than that you’re wearing something.
It’s particularly well-suited for fair to medium skin tones given the expanded shade range, and it’s a strong choice for anyone with acne-prone or sensitive skin given the gentle, post-procedure-inspired formulation.
If you have very oily skin and need something more mattifying, you might want a separate setting powder for longevity. If you need high coverage for significant redness or hyperpigmentation, you’ll want to build layers or add concealer on top. But as a lightweight, multitasking everyday product that combines moisturizing, evening and protecting in a single step—it does exactly what it says.

Parade
The Final VerdictFor me, the Dr. Jart+ Premium Korean BB Cream Tinted Moisturizer will be the product I reach for on summer days when I want to look like myself, only slightly more polished, without spending twenty minutes in front of a mirror.
The new shades are a major improvement and the formula feels more refined than previous versions. Plus, the SPF 30 means I can cross one step off my morning routine entirely. At $49 for a product that replaces three, the math works for me.

1992 Nirvana Hit, Covered by Indie Rock Star Phoebe Bridgers, Is Still an Iconic Song 34 Years Later
Phoebe Bridgers brought a little grunge nostalgia to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge last week.
During her appearance on the beloved live music program, the 32-year-old singer performed a beautiful stripped-down cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium,” putting her own spin on the 1990s classic. In addition, Bridgers performed “Lost Boys” and “Bobby,” two songs from her newest album, Lost Weekend, which was released on Aug. 14.
Her session was recorded on Aug. 18 in London, hours before Bridgers’ appendicitis flared up and she was sent to the hospital. The next day, on Aug. 19, she was supposed to kick off a series of intimate shows around the United Kingdom to celebrate the release of Lost Weekend, but had to postpone them.
BBC uploaded her performance to YouTube on Wednesday morning.
Bridgers grew up in Pasadena, California, and studied music as a teenager. After her brief stint as a bassist for the experimental-rock band Sloppy Jane, Bridgers released her debut studio album, Stranger in the Alps, in 2017, then followed it up with Punisher in 2020. The “Kyoto” singer is also a part of the supergroup boygenius, which won three of their six Grammy nominations in 2024 for their album, the record. Also an acclaimed songwriter, Bridgers has collaborated with many artists, including Taylor Swift, The 1975, The Killers, MUNA, SZA, The National and more. She released her third album, Lost Weekend, two weeks ago, which touches on the themes of grief, depression and dissociation.
The singer’s cover of the hit Nirvana song wasn’t the first time Bridgers has alluded to the iconic rock group. Back in January 2023, boygenius re-created the iconic Nirvana Rolling Stone photoshoot for their cover story for the same publication. Later that year, former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl joined the group for a performance of their song, “Satanist,” at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

When Nirvana was formed in 1987 by Kurt Cobain and Kris Novoselic, their success popularized the genre of alternative rock and was often referenced as the flagship band for the baby boomer generation. In 1990, they found success with the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” the lead single for their sophomore album, Nevermind.
Nevermind includes “Lithium,” the fifth track on the album. Written by Cobain, he explained to the California fanzine Flipside that the song was about a man who turned to religion after his girlfriend passed away. Many fans interpret the song as one having a “manic depressive episode” and explains how people use religion as an emotional crutch during psychological crises.
“Lithium” was released as the third single for Nevermind, and peaked at No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 11 on the UK Singles Chart. The accompanying music video was a compliation of footage from their Halloween show at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. Though originally released in 1991, “Lithium” was released again as a single a year later due to its success.
Despite its release more than 30 years ago, “Lithium” still impacts audiences today. Critics have continued to praise the song, and it’s currently used by Seattle’s NHL team, the Seattle Kraken, as their goal tune since their first season in 2021.
Although the band’s career was cut short in 1994 after Cobain’s passing, Nirvana’s influence has continued for decades, inspiring generations of musicians and fans, including Bridgers.

1971 Rock Song by Derek and the Dominos Is Still a Powerful Supergroup Hit 55 Years Later
In 1971, blues-rock supergroup Derek and the Dominos released their single “Layla,” the band’s standout track that has remained one of classic rock’s most enduring songs.
The four-piece band, fronted by Eric Clapton and featuring Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon, all highly accomplished musicians in their own right, delivered a powerful hit that continues to resonate with generations more than five decades later.
The lead vocalist expressed how “incredibly proud” he is of “Layla.”
“To have ownership of something that powerful is something I’ll never be able to get used to. It still knocks me out when I play it,” he told Rolling Stone in a 1988 interview when asked about playing the song for decades.

Featured on their only studio album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, the song was credited to Clapton and Gordon. The 1970 record was also named among the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone.
The publication also highlighted how “Layla” was deeply personal to the lead vocalist, who wrote the song about his forbidden love for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his close friend and The Beatles guitarist George Harrison.
At the same time, Clapton also took inspiration from the 12th-century Persian poem The Story of Layla and Majnun by Nizami Ganjavi, which focuses on a man’s love for a woman whom he can’t have.
As for Boyd, she admitted that she “wasn’t so happy when Eric” wrote the song because she was still married to Harrison at the time.
“I felt I was being exposed,” she told The Guardian in 2008, as mentioned by Medium. “I was amazed and thrilled at the song – it was so passionate and devastatingly dramatic – but I wanted to hang on to my marriage. Eric made this public declaration of love. I resisted his attention for a long time – I didn’t want to leave my husband. But obviously when things got so excruciatingly bad for George and me, it was the end of our relationship. We both had to move on.”

Although it is now considered a timeless track, “Layla” was Derek and the Dominos’ sleeper hit that took years and a re-release to cement its legendary status in music history.
Upon its initial release in 1971, the song peaked at No. 51 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 before its 1972 reissue became a much bigger hit, reaching No. 10 on the chart.
Twenty years later, Clapton’s reimagined acoustic version of “Layla” performed for MTV Unplugged reached No. 12 on the Hot 100 in 1992.
The August Allergy Symptoms Doctors Are Seeing Most Right Now
If you have seasonal allergies, you probably dread April. So when you notice allergy symptoms in August, it may come as a rather unwelcome surprise. However, doctors note seasonal allergies aren’t just a spring (or fall) thing. In fact, for many people, allergies are worse in the summer.
“We tend to think of allergies as more of a spring issue because many of us are allergic to tree pollen, but grass pollen tends to peak in the summer months and can cause just as severe allergy symptoms,” says Dr. Michael Dosik, MD, an internist with Medical Offices of Manhattan and a contributor to labfinder.com. “People also tend to spend more time outside in the summer months, which increases people’s exposure time to outdoor allergens.”
It might also help to understand what’s going on in the body when we experience allergies (in August or any time of the year).
“Allergies are when our immune system overreacts to harmless substances such as pollen, dust or mold,” Dr. Dosik says. “When exposed to one of these allergens, our immune system releases histamine and other chemicals that cause inflammation, itching, sneezing and watery eyes.”
Dr. Dosik adds that it’s not the allergen itself causing all of the above symptoms. “It’s our own immune system’s exaggerated response,” he explains.
The good news is that you can reduce your allergy symptoms. First, doctors reveal the most common August allergy symptoms they’re seeing right now and how they differ from illnesses like COVID and flu. They also shared how to prevent and treat seasonal allergies so you can actually enjoy the dog days of summer.

The Most Common August Allergy Symptoms, Doctors RevealDoctors break the most common allergy symptoms they’re seeing right now into six broad categories: nasal, eyes, skin, ears, throat and overall.
“Nasal symptoms are very common and include sneezing, nasal congestion and clear, watery mucus,” Dr. Dosik notes. “Eye symptoms are also common and can include eye itching, redness, tearing, as well as eye puffiness.”
Sadly, expected August allergy symptoms don’t stop there, at least not based on what Dr. Brintha Vasagar, MD, MPH, a family physician, is seeing. Dr. Vasagar notes you may also experience symptoms with your:
- Skin (itching, redness)
- Ears (itching, popping, feeling of fullness)
- Throat (sore throat, coughing, wheezing)
Dr. Dosik notes that people with asthma are more likely to notice wheezing triggered by allergies and may even report shortness of breath.
Related: Power Up! 17 Simple Health Habits That Can Boost Your Immunity
As for “overall” symptoms, it’s essentially a miscellaneous bucket of misery. Dr. Vasagar says your August allergies may include symptoms like:
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Difficulty sleeping
Some of these symptoms, like coughing and nasal congestion, may sound vaguely familiar. It’s because they are. You may also experience them during bouts of COVID, flu or a cold, all of which you can get in the summer. So, how can you tell if you got unlucky and caught COVID, the flu or a cold or are “just” experiencing allergy symptoms?
“There is a lot of overlap between allergies, cold, flu and COVID,” Dr. Vasagar says. “Systemic symptoms, like fever, chills, body ache, nausea, or vomiting, can point towards cold, flu or COVID.”
When in doubt, Dr. Vasagar suggests speaking with your doctor, who can take a look at your symptoms, order any necessary tests and help diagnose you correctly.
Related: Can Asthma Be Cured? Here’s What Pulmonologists Say
How To Treat August AllergiesAs with so many health issues, prevention (or at least risk reduction) is the best medicine for August allergies. “The best allergy treatment is reducing your exposure to the offending allergens,” Dr. Dosik says, noting that there are plenty of ways to lower your risk of having allergy symptoms.
“One of the most effective ways is to track the daily pollen count and try to limit your time outdoors on days with a high pollen count,” Dr. Dosik notes. “Changing your clothes or bathing after being outside for a time is also helpful to limit your exposure.”
Fresh air can be great, but not so much if you’re having allergy symptoms. Dr. Dosik says keeping windows closed and using your air conditioner to cool your home can help keep allergens out, minimizing your exposure.
If you do regularly get August allergies, Dr. Vasagar says corticosteroid nasal sprays are helpful, especially if you start them a few weeks before your allergy season.
“If you need more to control your symptoms, an antihistamine medication can be added,” Dr. Vasagar adds.
If you’re looking for a more “natural” treatment option, Zyrtec recently released a drug-free allergen shield spray, which provides a protecting gel barrier to stop allergy symptoms before they actually start. That said, your family medicine doctor or primary care physician can help you figure out the next steps for your specific symptoms if none of the above control your allergies.

Professional Organizers Swear By These 7 IKEA Finds—and Say to Skip 3
Whether you love it or hate it, keeping your home organized is a part of life. And fortunately for the organization-challenged people among us, the internet is filled with endless organization tips and tricks.
But on top of tips and tricks, having the right products can also make a huge difference when it comes to staying neat and organized around the house. Personally, IKEA is one of my favorite stores for buying organizing tools, since the products there are generally no-nonsense and pretty affordable.
But which organizing products from IKEA are actually worth buying, and which aren’t? To find out, we spoke with two professional organizers: Olivia Parks, the Lead Professional Organizer and Founder of Nola Organizers, and Blanka Molnar, founder of organizing company Your Sorted Space.
Both Parks and Molnar shared a few of the organizing items from IKEA that they recommend, as well as a few that they say are best left behind. Keep reading for their insights.

The 7 Organizing Items From IKEA That Professional Organizers Recommend 1. SKUBB Box, set of 3, $7.99 at IKEAParks says that the SKUBB drawer dividers are “definitely worth buying from IKEA because you can use them in so many different areas of your home,” such as in dressers, bathroom drawers, junk drawers, office drawers and more.
“They’re great because they help create categories and keep items separated,” she says. “Instead of having everything thrown together in one drawer, each category has its own place, which makes it easier to find what you need and put things back when you’re done.”
2. TROFAST Frame, light white stained pine, $110.99 at IKEAMolnar is a big fan of IKEA’s TROFAST system, especially for kids. Her favorite product is the TROFAST Frame, which can be outfitted with mesh and plastic drawers in varying colors and sizes.
“IKEA is very good about creating versatile furniture and systems, and TROFAST is one of these,” says Molnar. “They are easy to clean, and they are sturdy. And you can choose the bins tailored to the room’s needs. Shallower or deeper, colored … or plain white. This system and the bins can serve the kids for a longer period of time and can grow with them.”
3. UPPDATERA Box, $3.99 at IKEA“These are one of those products you can literally use all over your home,” says Parks of the UPPDATERA organizing bins.
“They can be used in pantries, bathrooms, cabinets, closets, laundry rooms, offices and even deep drawers where they can work almost like drawer dividers,” she adds. “They come in different sizes, have a clean look and they’re also really affordable.”

4. RASSLA, Organizer with 5 compartments, $12.99 at IKEA“This RASSLA hanging organizer is a great addition if you need to ‘extend’ your closet space,” says Molnar, noting that it makes use of vertical space. “It’s super easy to add, and you immediately have space for a couple more pairs of jeans, sweaters, bags or shoes.”
5. SAMLA Box with lid, clear, $9.99 at IKEAParks loves using the SAMLA box for long-term storage for items like “holiday decorations, memorabilia, kids’ clothing, seasonal items and so much more.” She recommends the 12-gallon size ($9.99), but this tote actually comes in six sizes, with prices ranging from $4.99 to $37.99.
“I love that you can easily see what’s inside,” Parks adds. “These are especially great for ‘out of sight, out of mind’ people. Being able to quickly look at a tote and have an idea of what’s inside just makes it so much easier to find things when you need them.”
That said, Molnar is not the biggest fans of the SAMLA containers, mainly because they don’t have fasteners. “You will miss the latches that other clear bins with lids usually have,” she says. “Save yourself a headache, especially if you like to stuff your bins to the fullest.”
6. RÅSKOG Utility cart, $39.99 at IKEA“I love rolling carts because there are so many different ways you can use them,” says Parks. “The fact that you can easily move them around makes them even better.”
Some of her favorite uses for the RÅSKOG carts are in the playroom for art supplies, in your bedroom for nightstand overflow and in a walk-in pantry for extra storage.

7. DRÖNA Box, $4.99 at IKEA“These fabric boxes are a must and can be used anywhere around the house,” Molnar says of the DRÖNA boxes. She adds that “they look clean and simple” and are compatible with the popular KALLAX series from IKEA.
“Visual clutter is stressful and frustrating,” says Molnar. “But with these bins, you can easily reduce visual clutter immediately by collecting items like clothes or toys into one bin.”
3 Organizing Items From IKEA That Professional Organizers Don’t Recommend 1. KLIPPKAKTUS Storage box for fridge, set of 3, $7.99 at IKEA“Fridge organizing containers can sometimes hurt more than they help,” says Parks. “They look great in photos, but I don’t always think they’re realistic for everyday life. They can take up valuable space inside your fridge, get dirty quickly and be a pain to keep up and wash.”
Parks is OK with a few fridge bins to help keep smaller snacks such as fruit cups organized, but she would never recommend anyone fill their fridge with tons of storage containers. “They’re great in theory and can look very aesthetic, but for most households, I think keeping your refrigerator simple is easier to maintain,” she adds.
2. BUMERANG Hanger, $7.99/8 pack at IKEA“I wouldn’t waste money on wood hangers like these BUMERANG Hangers,” says Molnar. “They give you a clean look, but they are chunky, and they take up so much space in the wardrobe. I would skip these and switch to the velvet hangers.”
However, Parks actually doesn’t mind these hangers—so long as they’re not the only ones in your wardrobe.
“I don’t think you need wood hangers for every single thing in your closet, but I do like them for heavier items like coats, jackets, suits and nicer dresses,” Parks explains. “They’re stronger and higher quality than your typical plastic hanger and can hold heavier clothing without bending.”
3. JONAXEL Storage combination,$49.99 at IKEAThough the JONAXEL Storage combination may look practical, “the wire shelves can limit what you’re able to store, especially when it comes to smaller items that can fall through or sit awkwardly,” says Parks.
“You may end up needing additional bins or liners just to make the shelves work for what you have, so you’d have to spend additional money just to make it work,” she explains. “I also wouldn’t choose this for storing a lot of heavier items. I’d rather put the money toward a sturdier storage piece that gives you more flexibility and can hold up better over time.”
