Already in position to win the 2005 Masters, Woods arrived at the 16th on Sunday. He held a one-shot lead, but the tournament was still anyone’s to win. With Chris DiMarco chasing Woods, every shot mattered.

Then Woods hit a shot that seemed to defy gravity, becoming one of the most famous moments of his career.

His chip toward the hole looked good, but as the ball reached the cup, it didn’t immediately fall. Instead, it teetered on the lip of the hole, seemingly suspended between going in and rolling away.

For a moment, nobody knew what was going to happen. Woods would later confess that the moment felt like an eternity.

Then the ball finally dropped.

The reaction was immediate. Woods raised his arms in celebration, while the crowd erupted. Verne Lundquist’s call—”In your life, have you ever seen anything like that?”—became permanently attached to the moment.

The timing couldn’t have been better. Woods went on to win the tournament by a single stroke over DiMarco, making this gravity-defying chip more than just an awe-inspiring moment. It was consequential.

Fans were used to Tiger Woods’ ability to seemingly make any shot, even those that would otherwise seem impossible. At the height of his career, there was a mythology around Tiger Woods. He had achieved almost idol-like status. This shot only added to his fame.

It wasn’t simply that Woods chipped the ball in. It’s what happened after it reached the hole.

With cameras zooming in and a silent crowd on the edge of their seats, the ball seemed to teeter and pause on the lip of the 16th hole before finally dropping in. For roughly a second and a half, Woods, the crowd, the announcers and everyone watching from home had to wait to find out if the ball would cooperate and fall in—or leave room for DiMarco to take the tournament.

Fans of Led Zeppelin are well-aware that the legendary English rock band occasionally used J.R.R. Tolkien‘s writings as a source of inspiration. For instance, the 1971 tune “The Battle of Evermore,” off the band’s celebrated record Led Zeppelin IV, was inspired by The Lord of the Rings novels, published in 1954 and 1955.

In an August 2022 Rolling Stone magazine interview, Robert Plant, who co-wrote “The Battle of Evermore” with his bandmate Jimmy Page, revealed that the tune gave him a sense of embarrassment. He referenced that he is from Staffordshire, England, a location that worked as a basis for different settings in Middle-earth.

“I can see from this window the hill where Tolkien used to sit and look out over the landscape, and that’s the Shire, and the village just below it is called Bagginswood. I was living in a dream then, talking about C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. And of course it brings hoops of derision into everybody who picked up a guitar or got near a microphone by 1980. But I was a kid,” said Plant during the interview

He then shared he had let his collaborator, Alison Krauss, know that he wasn’t all that proud of “The Battle of Evermore.” According to Plant, Krauss encouraged him to appreciate his work as a young lyricist inspired by Tolkien.

“And the thing about “Evermore” is … I said to Alison, ‘I’m embarrassed by this,'” said Plant, now 78. “She said, ‘But you can’t be embarrassed, because it’s a young person’s moments by living in an area which is like that, which resonates that period.'”

During a 2025 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Plant shared why he deeply appreciated Tolkien’s writing. He said that the British writer, who died in 1973 at the age of 81, “opened the door to all of that sort of dark age meander of history.”

In addition, he said that The Hobbit (1937) and the Lord of the Rings books “spoke to [him] because the points of reference were very close to where [he] live[d]” and “where [his] parents unwittingly used to take me through this landscape.”

“You can read what the landscape gave you from the old times before there were highways and stuff like that. So it’s quite evocative, and I think that J.R.R. Tolkien had it down. And It’s so remarkable,” continued the singer during the 2025 interview.

Despite the song being 55 years old, modern-day fans still enjoy “The Battle of Evermore.” For instance, in a 2024 Reddit thread on the Led Zeppelin subreddit, one commenter started a conversation about the tune, asking other fans to share their “[t]houghts about the battle of evermore.”

Several Reddit users took to the comments section to share that they thoroughly enjoyed the 5-minute-and-51-second song.

“Great song. Love the dueling vocals and amazing musicianship,” wrote a commenter.

“Tremendous piece of music. Guitar, rhythm, lyrics, vocals… all first rate,” added another.

“Really great song,and quite unique in the Zeppelin cannon,” shared a third person.

“This is the song that made me a Zeppelin fan…it was an overwhelming build of musical emotion that I had never experienced before,” commented a social media user.

“Takes me into another world. Beautiful musically, lyrically and vocally. A great Zep song.🎶,” stated a fan.

“Probably my favourite off IV closely followed by ‘When the Levee Breaks,'” chimed in a fifth Led Zeppelin listener.

We’re over halfway through Big Brother 28, but it’s so far created enough conflict to fill an entire 87 days. After balancing her way to victory, Dee Valladares decided to put up Drew Campbell, LaTrice “Lala” Verrett, and Taylor Brown on the block. During her speech, she mentioned a meeting that occurred during Lala’s HoH between the newbies, where they schemed to go after the “icons.” While Dee offered to talk to her nominees about it one-on-one, Taylor was eager to air it all out in the open right there and then.

“I would love to know who said to put Dee up,” Taylor says. “‘Cause I never said put Dee up ever.”

“Nor did I!” adds Lala.

Taylor immediately asks Drew if he was the person to throw her under the bus, which he vehemently denies. He counters that Lala had said Rick Devens‘s name, which Lala immediately negates.

“That never came out of my mouth,” she says. “And you’re a known liar.”

Taylor then begins to raise her voice, again asking Drew if she or Lala said Dee’s name. Drew, unblinking, tells her, “Yes.” Melody Morris then vouches for her “fauxmance” in the DR, saying multiple conversations happened in the HoH with both women about going for the icons.

“All that’s happening here is everyone is trying to push off responsibility,” she adds. “Because nobody wants to publicly admit what we all know: That the icons need to be targeted. This is buffoon-ass behavior.”

In real-time, the war of words continues between Drew and Taylor. But things ramp up even more when the dental associate drills into her, saying she was in the shower when all of this was happening.

“How, if I was in the shower?!” Taylor screams, standing up. “How can I say something if I was in the shower?”

Taylor does do some clarification in the Diary Room, saying, “Don’t get me wrong. I was in the conversation when it was just me, Lala, Melody, and Mallory. But Drew knows damn well I was not in any of his conversations when it came to targeting the icons. There’s no possible way I’m gonna let Drew drag me into any of his mess, but it’s okay. I have something for him.”

And we see what that “something” is right away. Seated, but still bringing the same energy, Taylor airs out everything that happened during that one fateful night in the HoH room. “So let me tell y’all exactly what happened,” she recounts. “We was in the H.O.H. room. Lala, Melody, and Mallory were sitting there. Lala said,'”Who would y’all put up?’ These ladies did say who they would like to go up because they had not been up yet.”

While Barrett Pfeiffer is able to corroborate that Taylor was in the shower when him, Drew, and Yash entered the conversation, Lala’s not able to get the same support. She continues to insist she only said Devens’ name specifically, while both Barrett and Drew vouch for their fellow “Crossovers” by saying she brought up all of the icons’ names.

“You said you would vote off the icons first!” Lala replies, trying to turn the conversation onto Drew.

“Not true,” he says back.

“You said you would come after the icons,” Mallory says. “So did everybody f—king else! Period.”

This entire fracas has been about the icons. But noticeably, none of the icons themselves have said anything over the course of this fallout. And if there’s one to do it, naturally, it would be Angela. She closes the clip out, interrupting the back-and-forth by banging her hands on the table before offering a simple “hi.”

We shall see what Angela has to say about the idea of a newbie “revolution” happening against her and the other icons. But, as any Big Brother fan can attest to, when she gets involved, it can only get more intense from here.

Garth Brooks has announced more shows.

The country singer announced back in July that he was embarking on an arena tour across the United States. Instead of revealing all of the dates at once, he has been slowly teasing new shows on his official Instagram every few days.

On Wednesday, Brooks revealed that he will be heading to Florida on Sept. 25 and 26, headlining the Kia Center.

“ORLANDO… IT’S ON!” his team wrote as the caption. “Garth’s Blame It All On My Roots Tour is coming to the Kia Center for TWO NIGHTS!”

All seats in the arena will cost $154.50, which includes all fees and taxes. The tickets will go on sale next Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 am ET on Ticketmaster.

Brooks made his debut in 1989 and has since released 16 studio albums and has won several awards in his career, including two Grammy Awards, 17 American Music Awards and the RIAA Award for Best-Selling Solo Albums. His signature and most famous song is “Friends in Low Places,” which was released in 1990. Other of his major hits include “The Dance,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Callin’ Baton Rouge” and “Unanswered Prayers.”

Unlike most artists, Brooks’ official discography is not on Spotify or Apple Music. Instead, he has an exclusive streaming agreement with Amazon Music. Though he had productive conversations with both the heads of Spotify and Apple Music, he ultimately decided to keep his catalog on Amazon Music because he aligns with their business model adn commitment to supporting songwriters.

“I stick up for the songwriters because I’m freakin’ one of them! Everything I do for the songwriters, I do for myself,” he explained in an interview at the Country Radio Seminar back in 2023. “I’m the most selfish guy you’ve ever met, okay? But if we don’t take care of these songwriters, what do you guys have to play?”

As for his ongoing Blame It All On My Roots Tour, he kicked off the shows in Indianapolis from Aug. 20-23. Next weekend, he will performing in Denver’s Ball Arena on Sept. 4 and 5, then four shows from Sept 10-13 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, then another two shows on Sept 18 and 19 in Washington D.C.

The current tour attempts to mirror his World Tour he embarked on in 1996. That tour ran for two years and he performed 344 shows. It marked his final tour Brooks headlined before taking a hiatus from 2001 to 2005. The “If Tomorrow Never Comes” singer made his best-known album, Double Live, while on the World Tour, and that’s another tradition he’s carrying on into 2026.

“When you get in these arenas and you hear them sing, it sounds like songs they were raised on, it sounds like them. It’s easy for them, just like breathing in and out,” he told ABC7 in Washington DC. “That’s very flattering as an artist to get up here and hear your stuff sang back to you.”

In 1966, Fred Neil recorded a song about escaping somewhere quieter, reportedly while longing to leave the recording studio behind and return home to Florida.

“Everybody’s Talkin'” appeared on Neil’s self-titled album that year, capturing his deep baritone against an understated folk-rock backdrop. The original failed to become a major hit, but the composition’s story was only beginning. Within a few years, Harry Nilsson would transform it into his breakthrough and one of the era’s most recognizable recordings.

Neil was already an important figure in the Greenwich Village folk scene.

Before establishing himself as a performer, he had written songs recorded by other artists and worked alongside musicians who would become major names in the folk revival. “Everybody’s Talkin’,” with its yearning to escape the noise and pressures of everyday life, proved especially well suited to travel beyond his own catalog.

Nilsson recorded his interpretation in 1968.

His soaring vocal brought a markedly different character to Neil’s composition, and the recording was initially released on the album Aerial Ballet. It attracted limited attention as a single, but an unexpected opportunity soon gave the song another chance.

The turning point came with Midnight Cowboy.

Director John Schlesinger used Nilsson’s recording prominently in the 1969 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. Nilsson had actually written another song, “I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City,” hoping it would be used in the movie, but “Everybody’s Talkin'” ultimately remained the filmmakers’ choice.

Its second release changed everything.

Following the film’s success, Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talkin'” climbed to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. His performance also earned him a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Male, establishing him with a much broader audience before later hits including “Without You.”

Even still, Nilsson remained largely out of the spotlight.

“I don’t know how much I want out of music or how much I’m willing to pay for it,” he said in a 1969 interview. “It’s acceptance we all want, isn’t it? If it’s my music that’s being played and sung am I accepted? Or do I have to play it and sing it myself? Maybe, that’s why I don’t perform. I don’t feel comfortable before an audience. I don’t think I’m afraid to perform, but I’m afraid of becoming a performer. It can be a trap.”

Neil, meanwhile, gradually retreated from the music business.

“A guy can only take it for so long, then he has to get away,” Neil told Parader in 1966, the only interview of his career.

However, his composition continued to flourish. “Everybody’s Talkin'” has since been interpreted by numerous performers and remains closely tied to both Nilsson and Midnight Cowboy.

Sixty years after Fred Neil first recorded it, “Everybody’s Talkin'” still carries the restless longing at the heart of the original. A modest 1966 folk-rock recording became something far bigger in Harry Nilsson’s hands, giving Neil’s song an enduring place in popular music.

Ryan Gosling produced Barbie. It made $1.44 billion for Warner Bros. Now Gosling and his producing partner, Jessie Henderson, are in early development on a live-action Flintstones movie at Warner Bros centered on a grown-up Bamm-Bamm Rubble. The toddler with a club and superhuman strength who could only say his own name is getting the full Hollywood treatment. No writer attached yet. No casting confirmed. But given that Gosling just played Ken and made Warner Bros the most money it’d ever made from a single film, the obvious question is: will he play Bamm-Bamm too?

So who exactly is Bamm-Bamm Rubble? The Flintstones debuted September 30, 1960 — 66 years ago — as a Hanna-Barbera animated series running six seasons on ABC. Bamm-Bamm was the Rubbles’ adopted son — a toddler with inexplicable superhuman strength who communicated almost entirely by swinging his wooden club and repeating his own name. Two words. That was it. He stayed a toddler for the entire original run.

Then, in the 1971 animated spinoff The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, he suddenly could speak in full sentences, attending Bedrock High School, fronting a band called the Bedrock Rockers, and dating Pebbles Flintstone. Nobody in Bedrock ever explained how that happened. He and Pebbles eventually married as adults in later animated installments. Gosling’s version will be the first time anyone’s told that story in live-action.

Here’s why Gosling makes perfect sense. During Barbie’s press campaign, he said he was drawn to Ken because the character had no identity outside of Barbie and he wanted to explore what that meant. Bamm-Bamm has the same issue. He’s defined entirely by his superhuman strength and his relationship to Pebbles. What does he become when he grows up and has to figure out who he actually is? Ken wasn’t the lead of the Barbie movie. He was the breakout. Bamm-Bamm wasn’t the lead of The Flintstones. He’s the fan favorite. The template’s identical.

Yabba Dabba Do It Again

The previous live-action Flintstones films offer useful context. The 1994 film starred John Goodman as Fred, Rick Moranis as Barney, Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma, and Rosie O’Donnell as Betty. Financially successful. Critically dismissed. The 2000 prequel Viva Rock Vegas rebooted the cast with Mark Addy, Stephen Baldwin, Kristen Johnston, and Jane Krakowski. It grossed $59.5 million. Critics hated it. Both films combined: $401 million. Gosling’s Barbie: $1.44 billion. That’s more than three times both Flintstones films combined. The math explains why Warner Bros said yes.

The Barbie lesson was simple: take the IP seriously. Trust that adults who grew up with these characters want to see them treated with real creative ambition. The Flintstones has never received that treatment in live-action. Gosling proved with Ken that he can find the emotional core of an absurd premise and make audiences care. That’s exactly what the Bamm-Bamm project needs. His current slate only adds to the intrigue — Star Wars: Starfighter with Shawn Levy, Ghost Rider for Marvel in 2028, Barbie sequel in development. He’s adding Bedrock to an already extraordinary list.

The last live-action Flintstones movie was 26 years ago. The next one’s being produced by the man whose last Warner Bros film made $1.44 billion. The man who made Ken cool is heading to Bedrock.

Tim Curry starred in the 1975 cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter. And following news of his death at the age of 80, his co-star Susan Sarandon, who played Janet, paid tribute in an emotional Instagam post.

“What a funny, sexy, original he was,” She wrote. “But what I loved about him most was his heart. Even wheelchair bound he continued to be so sweet and generous with his fans. Thank you Tim for meaning so much to so many people. Love you, S”

Curry, who also starred in movies such as It, Annie, and Home Alone 2, died on Tuesday, Aug. 25 amid health issues following his 2012 stroke.

Sarandon was just one of many who paid tribute to the legendary actor.

“Three weeks ago, I wrote a letter to Tim Curry… I want to share it with you,” Evans wrote. “He was a force, a bright fierce flame, an exquisite charm and that rich vocal tone, he was an inspiration to me and to so many people for the roles he played and the effect he had on so many of us. There will only be one Tim Curry. All the rest of us will just have to do our best to emulate some of the magic of that role that I’ve just spent 7 months playing,” Luke Evans, who played Frank-N-Furter on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show, shared.

“There will only be one Tim Curry,” Evans continued. “All the rest of us will just have to do our best to emulate some of the magic of that role that I’ve just spent 7 months playing. Read on,” Carol Burnett, who starred with him in Annie, wrote.

“It is with an exceptionally sad heart and misted-up eyes that I share these words with you,” Rocky Horror writer Richard O’Brien said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “Tim Curry was a wonderful man by nature who was also a wonderful performer and understood the difference between such delightful achievements. He never sought attention and never put himself before the roles that he played. He was, in short, a good egg and class act. It was both a privilege and delight to have known him and worked with him. Rest in peace dear Tim.”

Cheri Oteri is opening up about her breast cancer journey, revealing why she rejected a mastectomy recommendation and the lesson she learned from a second opinion.

The Saturday Night Live alum, 63, was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, or stage 0 breast cancer, in February after an annual mammogram showed abnormalities.

Although Oteri initially believed catching the cancer early would mean relatively straightforward treatment, doctors recommended a mastectomy because they weren’t confident they could remove the cancer while leaving her breast looking “normal.” Oteri ultimately sought a second opinion, underwent a lumpectomy and radiation, and says the experience taught her a crucial lesson: “Trust your gut. Get a second opinion.”

“They said, ‘We think you should have a mastectomy.’ I lost it,” Oteri told People. “I said, ‘I’m not even at stage 1. What are you talking about?’”

Instead of scheduling the mastectomy, Oteri turned to close friend actress Camryn Manheim for guidance. “Growing up the way I did, doctors were gods,” Oteri said, so she needed a gut check. “But Camryn is Miss Second Opinion.”

At Manheim’s urging, Oteri consulted L.A.-based gynecologist Dr. Sherry Ross, who advised her not to make any decisions until she had completed further testing. Oteri then met with Dr. Janie Grumley, director of the breast program at St. John’s Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, who recommended a lumpectomy followed by radiation.

Oteri underwent surgery in April, followed by a second procedure in May to remove residual cancer. She began radiation in July and says the treatment was surprisingly manageable. “I never felt any pain,” she says. “And aesthetically, I couldn’t be happier.”

She also feels as though she “didn’t suffer enough to ring the bell” despite enduring surgery and 20 rounds of radiation. Again, Manheim set Oteri straight. “She said, ‘Why are you comparing your suffering to anyone else’s? Everybody suffers to different degrees. You had a win. You get to ring that fricking bell!’”

But beyond the physical experience, Oteri says she’s most surprised by the peace she’s found throughout her cancer journey.

“I have a peace about this,” she says. Usually, she’s “always up to panic,” but when faced with a situation that could have sent her spiraling, she found herself taking it one step at a time. “It was like, ‘Okay, what do I have to do? Boom, boom, boom.’” She says she grew up with fear “almost like a protective thing,” making her ability to stay calm through treatment all the more meaningful.

The 2026 Primetime Emmys are fast approaching, with HBO Max dominating both the comedy and drama categories.

It’s no surprise Jean Smart has won Best Lead Actress for every season that’s competed for Hacks, whose fifth installment set a record this season with a whopping 24 nods heading into the September ceremony.

Fans have streamed and binged it for years on HBO Max, but where will media be 20 years from now? Sure, the streaming platforms might still be around, but with all the industry merging that’s been happening, who’s to say?

Variety is now reporting that all five seasons of Hacks are about to be packaged in a complete DVD box set, just in time for the holidays. Cue the nostalgia as we remember this kind of physical media being the ideal Christmas gift back in the day…

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed plans to sell Hacks: The Complete Series as a Blu-ray collection. The set, set to go on sale sometime this fall will include never-before-seen bonus features, Variety also noted on Wednesday, August 26.

Previously, individual seasons of the Emmy-winning series have been available for sale on discs, but this is the first time the entire series has been sold as a package, given that Hacks has completed its run.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that the Hacks creators spoke out about their desire for a DVD box set to preserve the show’s legacy amid the Hollywood merger fears. See the Instagram update below.

Fans echoed the showrunners’ desire for a box set in the post’s comments section. “The things I would do for a couple of hours of bonus material (but pls give us like 500h),” wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, “I think we all need to start getting our dvd collections back so we can treasure these gems for ever ❤️.”

Rachel Uchitel has changed her look.

The former mistress of golfer Tiger Woods took to Instagram to let her followers know that she’d planned to undergo a Facelift. Following the procedure, Uchitel has shared some updates, including videos of her day-to-day, and showing off her dramatic transformation.

“From walking into the building, getting marked up, changing into my gown and trying to process the fact that this was actually happening,” Uchitel captioned an Instagram post on Aug. 23. “…to waking up after a 9.5-hour surgery and realizing just how intense the first hours of recovery were going to be. The pain was real. Talking was difficult. I was exhausted. But I was finally on the other side of surgery.”

She shared her most recent post-surgery update on Aug. 26.

“Everything is still tender, I’m trying not to mess anything up, and doing this without a nurse standing next to me is a whole different level of recovery,” she captioned an Instagram post, in part.

As the public has gotten a glimpse of Uchitel’s new look, some of her followers shared their support in the comments section of the post.

“I love that you are sharing this journey! Also I’m so nervous watching you brush and dry your hair,” one person wrote.

“Wow your face looks amazing only couple days after wow,” someone else said.

“You look so much younger already, it’s crazy!! Not that you needed it but really there’s a big difference,” a third comment read.

Uchitel’s name was plastered all over the headlines back in November 2009 when she was identified as one of the women that Woods was having an affair with.

“People remember me in so many different ways based on whatever article they’ve read,” she said during a 2017 episode of Scandal Made Me Famous, according to People magazine. “Whether they’ve seen me on Celebrity Rehab or in the newspaper, people shape me in so many different ways. I’m just a girl from Anchorage, Alaska who grew up in New York City who fell in love a couple of times and had some tragic things happen.”

These days, life looks very different for Uchitel, who married Dan Donovan on New Year’s Eve 2025. The couple exchanged vows at their home in Palm Beach, Florida, in front of 130 guests.

She explains that the brain processes color before language, so your clothing hue can actually send signals before you even describe your credentials or title.

“High-level thinkers who understand this stop leaving that signal to chance,” Lewis, the author of Color Secrets: Learning The One Universal Language We Were Never Taught, tells Parade. “They make deliberate choices that support the outcome they’re working toward—and in doing so, gain a meaningful advantage that most people in the room aren’t even aware is happening.”

The 5 Colors Color Psychologists Link To High-Level Thinking

High-level thinking is a coveted skill in the workplace, and some clothing color choices can exude these vibes before you even open your mouth. Lewis describes five colors that make you look smart, and why high-level thinkers often wear them (perhaps, ironically, without even thinking about it).

1. Blue

Lewis notes that research consistently documents that blue projects trust, credibility and calm authority. She points to 2009 research in Science, which indicated a direct link between blue and creative cognitive performance.

“Blue lovers naturally embody that same orientation,” she explains. “They think before they speak, process before they act and create the kind of calm internal environment where ideas can breathe. In a professional context, blue signals calm, deliberate thinking—qualities that build instant credibility.”

2. Deep navy

Lewis says this color deserves its own space.

“Deep navy takes blue’s authority and deepens it,” she says. “In my own production work dressing executives and public figures on camera, deep navy consistently builds audience trust and loyalty faster than almost any other color.”

She explains that deep navy carries blue’s effects, but the saturation adds a hint of seriousness, signaling that you’re a dependable, credible person.

3. Deep green

Lewis describes deep green as one of the most underused colors in professional wardrobes—and one of the most effective.

She points to research suggesting that it can reduce heart rate and stress, producing a calming effect on the people around someone wearing it.

“In my work, deep green consistently builds audience trust in a way that feels very warm and authentic,” she reports. “People drawn to green are the stabilizing force in any room: kind, clear and acutely attuned to the people around them.”

4. Gray

Specifically, Lewis says that warm or mid-tone gray is good for removing emotional responses in the wearer, which high-level thinkers may need to do at times.

“For example, it can be necessary when deciding on layoffs or figuring out how to pivot in a work crisis,” she shares. “It carries no chromatic stimulation, which means it creates zero perceptual friction while communicating seriousness and objectivity. It’s the visual equivalent of a well-organized mind that has removed everything unnecessary.”

5. Black

Lewis says it’s important to talk about the psychology of wearing black, which, she reminds us, is technically not a color.

“It absorbs all frequencies of light rather than reflecting any of them,” she explains.

One 2004 study found that achromatic colors, such as black, consistently elicit no emotional response in observers. Lewis notes that this feature puts black in a distinct category, separating it from colors that can generate positive or negative feelings.

“What black does generate is a perception of sophistication, seriousness and efficiency,” she says. “High-level thinkers who wear black consistently are often using it as a cognitive strategy—removing the daily wardrobe decision entirely so that mental energy stays where it matters.”

Lewis points to Steve Jobs‘ famous black turtleneck as an example.

The ‘Decision Fatigue’ Factor: Why Geniuses Wear Neutrals

Decision fatigue in successful people is a common experience. Knowing what colors mean and using that information when getting dressed every day can help soothe it.

For starters, it might help to understand precisely what people mean when they talk about this concept.

“Decision fatigue is the documented psychological phenomenon where the quality of decisions deteriorates after an extended period of decision-making,” Lewis explains. “High-level thinkers make hundreds of consequential decisions daily… and for someone whose thinking is their greatest asset, that adds up.”

She notes that understanding the color psychology of clothing is an underrated professional tool.

“When you understand what each color communicates—and you’ve made deliberate, pre-decided choices about your wardrobe based on that knowledge—getting dressed becomes a pre-decided system rather than a daily question,” she shares. “That preserves the mental energy that actually matters.”

The color analyst says the most intellectually driven people she’s worked with have wardrobes that are “intentional, limited and mapped to specific outcomes.” Often, these wardrobes go big on neutrals.

“The most intellectually driven people tend toward minimalism in their wardrobe for the same reason they minimize unnecessary meetings, notifications and commitments—every input that doesn’t serve the mission is a cost of time or energy,” she tells Parade. “A neutral wardrobe—gray, black, white, beige—is a pre-made decision system. The combinations are predictable, the signals are consistent, and the cognitive load is essentially zero.”

Importantly, Lewis shares that neutrals aren’t passive choices in color psychology.

“Each one carries a distinct psychological signal that a high-level thinker can deploy deliberately,” she adds. “The question shifts from ‘What should I wear today?’ to ‘What do I need to communicate today?’ Once you’ve mapped your neutrals, color choices become deliberate and strategic…the wardrobe starts working for you rather than requiring something from you each morning.”

The 3 Colors High-Level Thinkers Usually Avoid (And Why)

While people often focus on power colors for leaders, Lewis notes that it’s also important to understand which hues high-level thinkers usually avoid. She says these movers and shakers think twice before donning any of these colors.

1. Bright saturated yellow

Lewis warns that bright saturated yellow can evoke a neurological restlessness, something high-level thinkers don’t need taking up real estate in their heads.

“Yellow also connects to aposematism—the biological warning signal system hardwired into human perception—meaning its brightness triggers alertness rather than receptivity in the people around you,” she adds. “In a room where your judgment needs to land clearly and calmly, yellow is working against you.”

2. Highly saturated orange

Lewis explains that this color creates warmth and social connection. There’s a time and a place for it, but she says formal professional contexts are not usually one of them.

“Authority and clear judgment need to be unquestioned,” she shares. “Orange creates equals rather than hierarchy. For a high-level thinker whose decisions need to carry weight in a room, that social leveling works against the moment. Orange is a genuine asset in collaborative and creative settings, just not in the boardroom.”

3. Washed-out or very pale versions of any color

Highly saturated oranges and yellows aren’t the only culprits. Lewis reports that washed-out or pale versions of colors can more subtly (but consistently) undermine your credibility in professional settings.

“A faded, low-saturation color reads as uncertainty—someone who started to make a statement and thought better of it,” she says. “They can also read as non-serious and lighthearted, leaning into a lack of credibility due to the white tint of the color.”

The color analyst urges high-level thinkers to avoid indistinct tones because they unintentionally “signal the kind of ambivalence they spend their professional lives working to avoid.”

Before Christopher Cross had one of the biggest debut albums in music history, a jam on a Paul McCartney & Wings song helped spark one of his signature hits.

Released in 1980, “Ride Like the Wind” became Cross’ breakthrough single, pairing his smooth vocals with a propulsive rhythm and unmistakable backing vocals from Michael McDonald. Decades later, the song earned another distinction when Amazon Music included it among its 50 Greatest Soft Rock Songs of All Time.

“We were living in Houston at the time, and on the way down to Austin to record the songs, it was just a beautiful Texas day,” Cross told Songfacts. “I took acid. So I wrote the words on the way down from Houston to Austin on acid.”

Part of the song’s foundation stretched back several years.

Cross and his band used to perform the 1973 Wings song “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five,” from Band on the Run, during their live shows. The musicians would stretch the song into a jam, and Cross began singing a wordless “ba da da da” refrain during the middle section.

That musical idea stuck with him.

“I took that part, and I went, ‘you know, there’s something about this that’s got the thing,’ so then I wrote the tune around that,” Cross told Music Radar. “I had that part first, and then I wrote the verses. And I don’t think I’ve ever told Paul that. He’s probably gonna say ‘I should have gotten royalties.'”

The refrain eventually became a centerpiece of “Ride Like the Wind,” but Cross paired it with a far different story. He wrote the lyrics from the perspective of an outlaw racing toward the Mexican border, creating a cinematic sense of urgency that complemented the song’s relentless forward motion.

McDonald added another distinctive element.

The Doobie Brothers singer contributed backing vocals to the recording, his powerful voice echoing Cross throughout the chorus. The combination gave “Ride Like the Wind” a harder edge than many of the mellow recordings that would become associated with Cross, while still retaining the polished sound that helped define soft rock at the dawn of the ’80s.

The song raced up the charts.

“Ride Like the Wind” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent several weeks behind Blondie’s “Call Me.” It appeared on Cross’ self-titled debut, which also produced “Sailing” and helped fuel his extraordinary sweep at the 1981 Grammy Awards, where he won Album, Record and Song of the Year, as well as Best New Artist.

“I never expected in a million years that my first album would be successful at all,” Cross told Write on Music. “It was pure belief in the process and in the craft and the desire to do it.”

More than four decades later, “Ride Like the Wind” remains one of Cross’ defining recordings. Its place among Amazon Music’s greatest soft rock songs underscores its longevity, while its unexpected connection to Paul McCartney reveals that one of 1980’s biggest hits began years earlier with a band simply stretching out onstage.

Global icon Dolly Parton may be gone, but the legendary entertainer made sure some of her dreams would continue coming to life long after her death.

One day after Parton died at age 80, her team revealed the extraordinary number of projects the country icon had in development, from unreleased music and a Broadway musical to a biopic, documentary, scripted series and even an avatar show.

More remarkably, Parton’s longtime manager Danny Nozell says the singer didn’t simply leave behind a collection of unfinished projects. She spent years working with a handpicked team on a roadmap designed to carry out her plans far into the future.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died,” Nozell said in an Aug. 26 statement. “She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy.”

According to Nozell, Parton was also characteristically prepared for a future she knew she wouldn’t necessarily be around to see.

“Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked, for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come,” he continued.

Dolly Parton Left Behind Projects for ‘Decades to Come’

Nozell said Parton’s team intends to ensure that “the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life,” explaining that numerous projects had reached various stages of development before her death.

The manager also addressed what could become an important question for fans as new Parton projects continue appearing months and even years from now: How much involvement did Dolly herself actually have?

According to Nozell, fans can be confident that projects released through Parton’s official channels carry her approval.

“If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences, and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it,” he said.

That means Parton’s death won’t bring an immediate end to new material from the country legend. In fact, some of the projects she was developing are scheduled to arrive within weeks.

Dolly Parton’s Final Projects Revealed

Among the projects already on Parton’s calendar was Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel, which is scheduled to begin welcoming guests Sept. 14 before celebrating its grand opening Sept. 29.

Her Life of Many Colors Museum is also scheduled to open Sept. 29, while Dolly Dolls are slated to launch online Sept. 15 and Cup of Ambition Coffee will debut online Sept. 29 before arriving at retail in spring 2027.

Other projects already in the works at the time of Parton’s death include:

• Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops celebration for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, beginning Sept. 13, 2026
• Dolly on the Holly, arriving during the 2026 holiday season
• Kendra Scott x Dolly’s “The 9 to 5 Collection,” launching in January 2027
• Dolly’s Dog Treats, coming in early 2027
• Dolly Bedding & Home Decor, planned for the third quarter of 2027

And those are only the projects with announced launch windows.

Parton’s team says additional projects in the pipeline include unreleased music, a Dolly avatar show, a Dolly musical documentary, a biopic, a docuseries, a scripted series and an animated Billy the Kid series, with further details to be announced.

Dolly Parton’s Broadway Musical Will Open After Her Death

One of the biggest projects Parton left behind is DOLLY: A True Original Musical, the Broadway production inspired by her life and career.

Previews are scheduled to begin Dec. 7, 2026, with opening night set for Jan. 19, 2027, which would have been Parton’s 81st birthday.

The musical was among the major projects Parton had continued developing late in her life. Before her death, it was scheduled to officially open in 2027 and include both new songs written by Parton and some of the biggest hits from her decades-long career.

Her team is promising more details about the other projects she left behind in the months and years ahead.

For Nozell and the people Parton personally chose to safeguard her work, however, the mission is already clear: The projects that emerge after her death aren’t intended simply to capitalize on the legacy she left behind. According to her manager, they’re part of a plan Parton herself spent her final years putting into place.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died,” Nozell said.

And if everything goes according to the roadmap she left behind, her work isn’t finished yet.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright‘s split continues to heat up as Taylor shared on Instagram that Cartwright is trying to “sabotage” any efforts he’s making to move forward with his life.

In a deleted post, captured by several fan accounts, Taylor shared a screenshot of a direct message from Cartwright to a sponsor telling them she has “some information” about Taylor she’d like to share. Taylor hit back, saying he’s 637 days sober and every time he tries to move forward, something like this continues to happen. He claims he’s “stayed quiet for close to a year” but had no “choice but to post this stuff publicly.”

“This is just another example of her contacting every company, brand, or opportunity I get, trying to sabotage my ability to work and move forward with my life,” he wrote.

The Valley and Vanderpump Rules fans have mostly sided with Cartwright during the split. But several people expressed concern that Cartwright went too far if she, indeed, was reaching out to companies and brands.

Fans on X were sharply divided over Cartwright’s latest comments, with some accusing her of “harassing” him and insisting she needs to move on. Others defended her, arguing there was “nothing wrong” with what she wrote, while some took a more neutral stance and said both Taylor and Cartwright need to stop badmouthing each other. Meanwhile, another fan suggested his silence may have been strategic, claiming he “thought that’s what he had to do to get back on the show.”

But Redditors largely rallied behind Cartwright in the latest drama, with many arguing that the screenshot Taylor shared didn’t actually show her doing anything wrong.

Several users pointed out that she appeared to be asking an event organizer whether Taylor was involved and offering to donate, while others said they understood why she would want organizations to know about her alleged experiences with him.

“I don’t see anything wrong with her post,” one Redditor wrote, while another said they would also warn organizations about an alleged abuser. An original cast member of Disney’s High School Musical just hit the stage in the latest live adaptation of the hit film, breathing life into an entirely different character in a move fans are calling the “most iconic casting ever actually.”

KayCee Stroh, who portrayed Martha Cox in the trilogy, takes on the role of the iconic drama teacher, Ms. Darbus, in the stage version of the beloved musical currently running at The Lyric Theatre in Lowry, Salford.

“This will be my love letter to the fans,” she said in a clip uploaded to TikTok by the stage production’s official account.

“When I did receive the call, I was a little bit shocked,” she added, joking that, 20 years later, she wasn’t sure if she could still “pull off this whole Martha thing.” But it hit her that, “Yes, I need to do this,” and fans quipped that the “Martha to Ms Darbus pipeline feels so right.”

“I am so honored that I get to usher High School Musical into the next generation of Wildcats,” Stroh added, but it’s the OG fans who are really living for it.

Clips of the new production’s megamix, which comes at the end alongside the bows and is permitted to be filmed, flooded the social media platform, and fans of the beloved Disney franchise were floored by the creative choices on display.

Stroh takes center stage in her oh-so-sparkly costume during the mashup of the production’s music, breaking out her iconic “Pop & Lock, Jam & Break” move from the original film, and then boldly mouthing “Don’t!” before the lyrics “stick to the status quo.”

The message was well-received, with one applauding, “A baddie never really stops being a baddie 🤌✨.”

“This is so cool!” someone else commended. “Glad to see her still shining!”

“She looks brilliant 💪,” another agreed.

International fans also vented their frustration, lamenting their inability to see her perform live: “So jealous really want to see this! She’s awesome and such a star 🤍.”

The production, which is the first UK non-replica production, runs through Sept. 19 before transferring to the West End.

Dee Snider, the former Twisted Sister frontman, recently told his fans a major life update and revealed on Instagram that he broke his shoulder.

“The toughest thing about the break, besides the discomfort, pain, the annoyance of wearing the sling, [is that] sleeping’s a [explicit] if it’s the hand you favor. I’m a righty; broke my right shoulder,” the 71-year-old musician explained.

He started the video talking about how he was playing basketball with his adult kids, where he got knocked over and “went down like a ton of bricks.”

“Slammed my whole right side,” he continued and joked, “I could’ve sworn out of the corner of my eye I saw one of my sons doing a victory dance.”

Snider shares four kids with his wife, Suzette — Jesse, Shane, Cody and Cheyenne — all born between 1982 and 1996.

He started off the video talking about how many parents can relate to the joys of when their kids were younger and how they “tend to dominate them” but also “letting them win because we’re so much bigger.”

“They’re laughing, they’re having fun with us, but the fact is we are these larger-than-life individuals,” Snider advises. “There will come a time they are our size or bigger than we are. They will dominate us. This will be their revenge. Whether it’s conscious or subconscious, they’re out to get even with us and watch us laying on the floor, writhing in pain.”

The legendary frontman continued on, saying that his recovery includes being in a sling for eight weeks and going to physical therapy. Afterward, he will go in for surgery.

Despite the scary update, he told his fans not to worry about him.

“Don’t cry for me, Argentina. Other than that, I’m doing great, all things considered. It’s just a real pain in the [explicit], aka shoulder,” he concluded.

With his unmistakable look and larger-than-life stage presence, Snider helped make Twisted Sister’s anthems, including “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock,” staples of the 1980s rock scene.

Twisted Sister was formed in 1972 by Jay Jay French, Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda, Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, AJ Pedro and Snider in New Jersey. They have released seven studio albums, with their most recent being a Christmas album in 2006.

Beyond music, Snider became known as an outspoken personality and advocate for musicians’ rights, while also working in radio, television, film and as a solo artist. Twisted Sister’s music and image have remained closely tied to ’80s rock culture, with the band eventually being inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame. In February 2026, Snider stepped down from Twisted Sister after five decades with the band, citing health challenges such as arthritis and heart strain, and has been living in North Carolina.
