Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick Reveals She Nearly Flipped the MrBeast Coin on 'Survivor 50' (Exclusive)

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 10:28am

Survivor 50 is here! Every week, Parade's Mike Bloom will bring you interviews with the castaway most recently voted off the island.

When Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick heard the words "Welcome to Survivor" for the first time in 16 years, she felt like a completely different person. Regarded as one of the most popular contestants to ever play back in her first season, she had spent years out of the spotlight, focused instead on building her own tribe back at home. But, like a lake festooned with jellyfish, she had dipped herself back into the cloudy, yet electrifying waters of reality TV slowly but surely, with stints on a couple of other shows. So, when Survivor came calling for Season 50, she was fresh out of the oven like a filet mignon pizza, ready to play. And, while she entered the game as a very different Stephenie than the one we last saw, she was actually looking to connect with that younger version of herself, a way to prove that part of her was not permanently left behind like a sacrificed chicken carcass.

Stephenie told Parade going in that her approach was going to be more of a quiet and observant version of herself, hoping her reputation as an old-school player and loyal ally would get her in the numbers early on. And indeed, that's exactly what went down. She immediately linked up with old Heroes vs. Villains ally Colby Donaldson, and formed a majority with Q Burdette, Genevieve Mushaluk and Kyle Fraser. Unfortunately for Stephenie, a series of unfortunate votes would take away all of those allies from her by the time the jury started. Once again, she found herself in an alliance of one.

Much like the last time this happened, however, she was able to metaphorically take her boat, paddle it to another beach, and find new friends. She became part of an old-school postmerge coalition, working alongside Coach Wade, Chrissy Hofbeck, Joe Hunter and Jonathan Young. On top of that, a fortuitous rock draw took her on a literal journey, as she was forced to confront the excruciating pain of the shoulder she dislocated in the opening minutes of her last season. But, showcasing the tenacity that made her a legend forty seasons ago, she pushed through, leaving with a "Steal-a-Vote" in (raised) hand.

As the days went on, Stephenie was showcasing her slow-playing and adapting skills from her time on Snake in the Grass and The Traitors. Unfortunately, the person who would lead to her undoing is the one who was there next to her in both of those shows: Cirie Fields. When Stephenie and Jonathan attempted to take a shot at Ozzy Lusth, Stephenie lied about the plan to Cirie, knowing how close they were. But their experience in a different jungle setting had the six-time player easily catching Stephenie in a lie, which pushed her to start turning the votes against her. It didn't help, of course, that Rick Devens also called her and Jonathan out for targeting Ozzy before his butt even touched the stumps at Tribal Council. But that was only the beginning of one of the wildest nights in Survivor history, which included a cameo from MrBeast, a game-changing coin flip, and a live scramble to figure out where the votes are going. Luckily, the group was able to derive order from the chaos of the day. Unluckily, Stephenie was that order. And so, her chance at the now-$2 million prize was tossed away, like a gold coin with a tiger's profile on it.

Now out of the game, Stephenie talks with Parade about how she nearly flipped the MrBeast coin herself, how she reacted to Rick calling her out at Tribal Council, and the tense confrontation with Cirie that didn't make the edit.

Alright, let's try to break down your perspective on everything that happened at that wild Tribal Council. After all the scrambling that was done in the moment, by the time you sat down, did you think you were going?
No. So the plan, after all the whispering and all of that, they're all a bunch of really great liars. If it couldn't be Devens, it was going to be Aubrey, which is why Aubrey says to Devens, "I don't really want him to flip the coin." Because if he's safe, she knew it was going to come
on her. Or that could have been just like Tribal talk to make me believe that.

So what made you decide not to play your Shot in the Dark and use your Steal-a-Vote against Rick?
I went over and spoke with Jonathan, I spoke with Cirie, I spoke with Ozzy, I spoke with Joe. I spoke with multiple people, and I was like, "I have the Steal-a-Vote. So I can vote and use my Shot in the Dark." And everyone, even Jonathan, assured me, "You don't need to. Don't." And I knew some of them could be lying. But Jonathan was my one person, I felt, since Colby had gone, I could really trust out there, and was really going to be there for me in my best interest. And I was like, "Okay, you're sure?"

And I even considered trying to be the person that flipped the coin. Because I was getting a little nervous after Devens goes on his whole rant and his pitch and all that. A lot of people, told me, "No, you don't have to flip the coin." And I knew it was going to be a battle anyway against Devens if I tried to flip the coin. And then you second-guess yourself, because you're like, "It's a 50/50 shot. Do I want to take this chance? I still have a Steal-a-Vote. I still do have a Shot in the Dark. Let's just see how it plays out first with Devens. Let's just let him do that." So there was a lot going on that a lot of people didn't see.

And then back at camp, after Joe goes and tells Cirie that now we're trying to flip it to Ozzy — I can't believe Joe did that. Because, whether Joe's with me or not, he really is supposed to be main allies with Jonathan, so I don't know what he was thinking. I mean, this is the second time now Joe kind of screws us over, if you will. Because we're supposed to be definitely the three of us, and we're hopeful Cirie and Ozzy are with us.

Back at camp, after everything, I go over, and I talk to Ozzy. And I say, "Well, I heard you threw my name out and you don't trust me. That's how this all started." And he admitted to it. He was like, "You're right. I did. I wanted to see if it would get back to me, and it did." And I was like, "Okay, well, why do you not trust me? Last week at Tribal Council, the whole time your name was out there. And we sat next to each other, and you're asking me, 'Do I play my advantage? Do I play it?' I'm like, 'No, you're good, you're good, you're good.' It was either going to be Christian or it was Devens. 'We'll split the vote with them, I promise you, you're good.'" I gave him no reason not to trust me. Until this week, his name comes up, but it comes up because he's telling Jonathan for a couple of days he doesn't trust me. Even though Jonathan says I exaggerated it a little bit, there was truth to it. Because I went over and I cleared it with Ozzy.

Well, you didn't get a heads-up that you were going, and your departure was due in part to a heads-up on a coin. Do you feel that if Rick hadn't flipped the coin, he would have left instead of you?
I really do. I really, I really do. And that's why Rick went on that whole tangent and then did a whole plea, because he knew he was in the hot seat as well. And then everyone's like, "Well, why didn't you throw Jonathan under the bus?" That's just not who I am. He's the only guy at this point I truly do trust in the game. He and I, as a team, are now in the hot seat. And somebody is throwing us under the bus, I'm not now going to throw my number one ally under the bus. I'm going to try to flip it back on them. And that's what I tried to do.

What was your reaction when Rick sat down at Tribal Council and started calling out you and Jonathan? Did you feel the mood shift towards you?
Yeah, Tiffany and Rizo wouldn't even look at me. So I'm like, "Okay, they're done. They're dead to me." Joe is still acting like he's with me. Joe wasn't with me since, at the beach, I sat him down, like I sat Jonathan down, and I was like, "I want to tell you something. I have a Steal-a-Vote. I should have told you sooner." I didn't, because Cirie immediately got it out of me, and she told me, 'Don't tell anybody. You don't have to tell anybody. Everybody knows everything out here. Your secret's safe with me.'" So that's why I chose not to tell anybody. So when I call Cirie out of Tribal Council, Jonathan, Joe, a few others already knew Cirie knew.

But to answer your question, I'm thinking to myself, "Remain calm. Do not get defensive." Which I did. I think I did a really good job of staying calm. But I did reiterate and re-explain, "Yes, that was a plan that came up, but you guys started that plan." Now, what I meant by that was "you were part of that plan." Because they were really totally interested in that plan. But I think Rick got wind that the whole plan went back to him. It was no longer going to be Ozzy. It was going to go back to him, because Joe screwed that up with telling Cirie. So then we tried to go back to Devens, and Devens was like, "I'm gonna blow up the whole Tribal Council."

We heard a whole slew of names in the chaotic lead-up to Tribal Council. But it sounds like, from what you're saying, the plan had ultimately settled on Rick again. How did that happen?
We came clean. I went over to Ozzy and Cirie, and I said, "Listen, your name was definitely thrown out, Ozzy. And it was thrown out because you said you didn't trust me, and people want to flush your idol. I'm just telling you the honest-to-God truth. Cirie, I know I told you, sitting next to Tiffany, the plan was still Devens. That is the plan. But Ozzy's name was also thrown out there. Did I lie to you in that moment? Sure, because Tiffany's right there. I don't know Tiffany. I'm not aligned with Tiffany. I don't trust Tiffany."

We have this conversation, and you see me saying to Cirie — of course, they cut that all out — "You were going to vote for me. You were going to write my name down." And she's like, "Yeah, yeah." I don't know, whatever she said. And then I say to them, "I'm coming clean. I want to vote Devens. If Devens is safe for some reason, Aubry, if you guys will do that. If not, and you turn it on me, I promise you, you will be next. I promise you keeping me is in your best interest. If you get rid of me tonight, that's fine, but you two will not go to the end. You will be next." I do say that. I cannot believe it doesn't make the cut.

And I said that to Cirie in Season 20, Heroes vs. Villains. I said, "If you don't come with Tom and Colby and I, and you vote me with James and them, you're going to be next." And she was next.

Going back to the live Tribal Council, it ended up being a unanimous vote against you. In hindsight, do you think there was anything you could have said or done to get enough votes off of you?
They were all done. They all turned on me, because the whole Steal-a-Vote came out, and it was just too much back and forth. I mean, the only thing, I don't know about a pitch, but I could have just fought harder to try to probably flip the coin or play my Shot in the Dark. That would have been the only thing that would have saved me in this moment. I now know Cirie and Ozzy aren't with me. Basically, I'm hopeful they are. But I'm like, "Yeah, they're probably not."

Let's stick with the Cirie topic here. Because you two have history across three seasons and three shows before Survivor 50. When the merge hits and you two meet up, did you expect things to pick up from where they left off in Scotland? Or were you feeling it was a different dynamic?
I thought we were solid. And they never show Cirie and I talking at all, which is so funny. It happened on Traitors too. I would never, ever trust somebody ever if I was getting a weird feeling from them or if we never spoke. I would never. I mean, I'm really not that stupid, come on! Cirie is constantly saying to me, "You're like family. We're going to the end. It's going to be like me and Parv. I swear I'm not going to write your name down." I mean, up until the night she votes me out, she says this to me. She's good at what she does, and I believed her.

Now, Jonathan does bring her name up to me quite a few times leading up to this episode. And I'm like, "Listen, I hear you. But unless you have the numbers, you better not come for her. Because that's what happened to Jenna, and that's what happens to everybody, because she somehow weasels her way into getting the numbers, and you're done." And I meant it when Rizo tried to call me out. I'm not ever going to lead the charge up until that point. It was too early in the game. Why would I start calling people out and leading the charge? I wasn't going to do that. So I was not lying to Rizo and to any of them. Now you come to me with an idea, I'll hear it. Everybody's gonna listen to certain ideas. Doesn't mean you're definitely gonna go with it.

What was your reaction when you see she immediately clocks you're lying to her about not targeting Ozzy?
So I go to her, and she's like, "Well, you just lied to me in front of Tiffany." I'm like, "That's because I don't know Tiffany. I'm not in with Tiffany. I don't trust Tiffany. I have not had a chance to talk to you alone." But it still wasn't alone. It was with her and Ozzy. And I was like, "I'm coming to you, and I'm telling you the honest-to-God truth right now. Ozzy's name came up. I entertained it for a minute, and I plan to talk to you about it. But there were no numbers. We were not going to have the numbers. The reason Ozzy's name came up is because he said days ago he didn't trust me. For Ozzy, I've given you no reason not to trust me so."

And she just said, "Okay, alright. Well, I hear you. Then what should we do?" And that's where it's like, "Let's just go back to Devens and Aubrey. Unless it's me and you're lying right to my face. If it is, that's fine. But it's not going to be a good plan for you, because you will go soon after, and so will you." And she says, "Who are you talking to?" Real cocky-like to me. And I said, "I'm talking to you. I promise you, if you vote me out tonight, you will go shortly after me. And so will you, Ozzy. I am a great shield for you to have around." They didn't show any of that.

I want to go back to a point you made earlier. From our perspective, after Chrissy and Coach were voted out, it seemed like you, Jonathan, and Joe were a bloc. But it sounds like it was more like you and Jonathan as a pair, with Joe doing his own thing on the side. Talk to me more about that.
So I thought Joe was always with us, and Jonathan thought Joe was really tight with him. And I learned two episodes ago that Cirie told him the whole plan about Coach and Chrissy, and Joe never comes and tells us. So I learned two episodes ago, "Oh, either Joe is not thinking clearly out there, or he's just not with us, and he's playing both sides." And now he doesn't tell us, right? Cirie, great job again, she's like, "The plan changed to Coach and Chrissy. I can't flip it back. We're out of numbers. I'm just letting you know." I'm like, "Oh, thanks for telling me." She's like, "Just go with the numbers. Because if you're the odd man out, you'd be next to go." So I'm like, "Okay, now I know Joe knows nothing about this." So I think.

Fast forward to last night. Joe's still acting like he's with me and Jonathan, and then he goes and tells Cirie the whole plan. So at this point, I'm thinking Joe's just trying to play both sides, all sides, whatever. Or Joe really is not with us and is trying to be with Cirie. And Cirie says in her interview, "This is a Stephenie vs. me thing, and I can't let like her and Jonathan take control. I've got to take control with my people and take her out."

Which is so upsetting, because in my mind, it was never going to be a me versus Cirie thing. I wanted to work with Cirie. Yes, Ozzy's name came up because of Jonathan, and yes, Ozzy told Jonathan he doesn't trust me. But I went over, like adults do, and I had a conversation with Ozzy. And I said, "I heard you didn't trust me. That's partly why your name came up. Plus you have an idol." He admitted it. We were adults. We shook hands. I'm like, "Okay, so you still want me out?" He's like, "No, let's go back." We all agree to go back to Devens. So I'm like, "Okay, we had a whole conversation about it."

But no, I just unfortunately think Cirie was never with me. I thought she was. All those talks we had pregame. During the game, we talked a ton. They don't show it, probably because this is the end result. She was never with me, so they're not going to show me and her. It doesn't fit the narrative. There's so much else they need to fit in in a short time.

Finally, I know you came out for 50 partially to prove that you still "had it" after so much time away and so many life changes. How do you look back on your fourth time out?
I wasn't out there to play a cutthroat game. I would have been a little cutthroat if I had when I had to be. But honestly, the people to whom I give my words, I really tried to stick with to the end. As you saw! I mean, I went down for Jonathan. I didn't throw him under the bus, because I really am a person of my word. And I figured, "You know what? If I go home tonight, I go home tonight. But at least somebody I'm aligned with, hopefully, they get to the end, because I'm really not a sore loser.

Why Mae West Chose Jail Over a Fine for Her 'Indecent' Play: ‘I Believe in Censorship. I Made a Fortune Out of It’

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 10:12am

Prison wasn't exactly the Waldorf, but for Mae West, the eight days she spent behind bars in 1927 were the best marketing money couldn't buy. The Hollywood star turned her stint in prison on an indecency charge into a badge of honor she wore like a fur coat.

West was already a hurricane in a corset by the time the New York police department decided they’d had enough of her play, Sex. They raided the theater and slapped her with an obscenity charge. And because West understood the value of a headline better than any publicist in Manhattan, she turned down the easy out. She could have paid a fine. Instead, she accepted the jail time.

Looking ahead at her legal troubles, West famously told a journalist, "I expect this will be the making of me." Her prediction unfolded on April 19, 1927, when she received a ten-day workhouse sentence for obscenity and for conduct intended to corrupt the morals of the youth.

Although sentenced to ten days, she earned a two-day reduction for good behavior, a period during which she famously dined with the warden. Reflecting on the experience, the actress maintained that the massive media attention was well worth the incarceration, as it boosted her career. Her only complaint about the ordeal was the requirement to wear cotton underwear.

"I believe in censorship," West later quipped. "I made a fortune out of it."

The authorities wanted to make an example out of West. They thought a stint in the cooler would quiet the double entendres and the swaying hips. They were wrong. Because the arrest didn’t shame her; it validated her. It gave her what every performer craves: publicity and curiosity.

Suddenly, everyone who hadn't seen the show wanted to know what the fuss was about. The jail sentence gave her a seemingly dangerous edge that translated directly to the silver screen. When Hollywood came calling, West didn’t have to change her act. She starred a woman who stared down a judge and won.

West’s career skyrocketed after she leaned into the controversy: she wrote her own lines, she controlled her own image. And she did it all while the moral majority tried to keep her under lock and key.

The prison stint took her from a local theater actress to a national obsession. She proved that if you’re going to be a bad girl, you might as well be good at it.

1973 Oscar-Winning Hit Ranked Among ‘Greatest Love Stories’ by the American Film Institute

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 10:04am

The 1973 film The Way We Werehas been named one of the greatest romance movies of all time by the American Film Institute (AFI) movie club. The organization described the “bittersweet romantic drama” as “among the art form’s greatest love stories – with Streisand’s title song also counted among AFI’s ranking of cinema’s most memorable film music.”

The beloved film also ranked No. 6 on AFI’s 100  Years…100 Passions list, just behind the romance classics An Affair to Remember, Roman Holiday, West Side Story, Gone with the Wind, and Casablanca

Starring Barbra StreisandandRobert Redford and directed by Sydney Pollack, The Way We Were followed the unlikely love story of political activist Katie Morosky and privileged writer Hubbell Gardiner. The melancholy ending, coupled with Streisand’s title ballad, is a tearjerker.

The Way We Were was nominated for six Academy Awards and won two, including one for Streisand’s song.

Streisand wanted Robert Redford in the film

Hot on her film and music career, Streisand was a no-brainer to star as the quirky female lead in The Way We Were. At the time, film critic Roger Ebert wrote that Streisand’s performance was “fantastic” and crowned her “the brightest, quickest female actress in movies today.”

Redford was a bit trickier. Producer Ray Stark originally wanted to cast Streisand’s What's Up, Doc? co-star and short-time romantic partner, Ryan O'Neal, for the role of Hubbell, according to Turner Classic Movies. After Streisand’s real-life romance with O’Neal ended, she suggested Redford.

In her 2023 memoir My Name is Barbra, Streisand wrote that she “fell in love with the story” and that the Katie Morosky character impacted her “profoundly.” But the Barefoot in the Park actor turned down the original screenplay. Streisand noted that she asked producers to give Redford whatever he wanted. After multiple attempts and script changes, the actor agreed.

“The courtship had been tough, but Bob’s reluctance had a big influence on the script and ultimately resulted in a richer, more interesting character,” Streisand wrote.

Following Redford’s death in September 2025, Streisand paid tribute to him on Instagram, where she noted that they were just as opposite as their characters.  “Every day on the set of The Way We Were was exciting, intense and pure joy,” Streisand recalled. “We were such opposites: he was from the world of horses; I was allergic to them! Yes, we kept trying to find out more about each other, just like the characters in the movie."

"Bob was charismatic, intelligent, intense, always interesting — and one of the finest actors ever," the entertainment legend shared. "He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him.“

Heidi Montag Talks Spencer Pratt for the Mayor of LA, the Palisades Fires, and Being a Mom

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:57am

Long gone are the Laguna Beach and The Hills days when Heidi Montag spent her time feuding with Lauren Conrad, event planning for Brent Bolthouse, and constantly defending her hot-and-cold relationship with LC’s nemesis, Spencer Pratt.

Life lately looks different, and Montag is a busy mother of two who is trying to restart her pop career and support her husband’s run for the mayor of Los Angeles. And she’s doing it all while rebuilding a home that was destroyed in the Palisades fires.

Who Are Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s Children?

Montag and Pratt have a very public relationship. They started their romance in front of reality TV cameras, dating, moving in together, and eventually getting engaged on The Hills. The pair married in 2009 during Season 5 of the series, with castmates Brody Jenner, Kristin Cavallari, and Audrina Patridge in attendance.

Heidi and Spencer (a.k.a. Speidi) now have two children: Gunner Stone (born in 2017) and Ryker (born in 2022).

Even though the celeb parents have had a bumpy relationship, they’re still happily married. Heidi recently opened up to pregnant Tay Lautner (who is expecting her first child with actor Taylor Lautner) on The Squeeze podcast, talking candidly about how she and Spencer maintain their relationship, “I have a mandatory once-a-week date night for Spencer and I. Even if he’s on his phone the whole time, I’m like, well, we’re together, and I have no expectation of the time.”

Montag went on to say, “Intimacy is so important…And I think that’s one of our actual secrets of marriage as well…it should be fun. It’s just a time to connect, whatever intimacy is…I want to go to sleep in your arms.”

What Did Heidi Montag Say about the LA Fires?

The reality TV stars lost everything in the 2025 Palisades fire. They are now in the midst of a lawsuit against Los Angeles and its Department of Water and Power, alleging that the city’s water supply system failed.

The mom of two shared with Lautner, “I cried on the way over here thinking about, I know I get so sad about it, just thinking about you work so hard right for everything in your home and you love everything in your home and it’s so curated and your childhood things and just your children’s things and they’re little clay pots they bring home and just stuff you can’t get back. Things you can’t buy back. So it’s challenging.”

Montag tearfully added, “ I’m focused on my three-year-old saying he’s going to push our house back up. He still says that like every day…And so everything is about like houses burning down. He’s three, he thinks it’s somehow his responsibility to push our house back up and that he’s strong enough.”

What Does Montag Think About Spencer Pratt’s Bid for the Mayor of LA?

In what might seem like a shocking turn of events, Pratt is now a serious contender to become the mayor of LA. A now-viral ad has caught the attention of just about everyone, giving the reality star an edge.

During a separate interview, while attending the 2026 Billboard Women in Music event, Montag revealed, “It’s a journey, and I couldn’t be more proud of him for fighting for truth and righteousness and our family and our community and our city. And I am so proud of him. We both have a lot going on, so juggling those two worlds, it’s important to find time for each other and our family.”

Speaking of that balance, how does Heidi do it all? When it comes to her career, she told Lautner, “I always say I’m a full-time mom and a part-time pop star. Because I am a full-time mom.”

1989 Power Ballad, Written By Diane Warren, Became This Glam Metal Band's Only No. 1 Hit

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:55am

Diane Warren is one of the most credited songwriters, having developed chart-topping hits for some of the biggest rock bands and artists. In 1989, she wrote a track for the glam metal supergroup Bad English that would go on to be their most successful and only No. 1 hit.

The British band was just starting to make a name for themselves when they released their self-titled debut album in the late '80s. Lucky for them, the album had two successful power ballads that became love anthems, but only one topped the charts at the time. "Price of Love" peaked at No. 5, while their second single, "When I See You Smile," cemented them as a hit rock band with a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Lead singer John Waite, keyboard player Jonathan Cain, bass player Ricky Phillips, guitarist Neal Schon, and drummer Deen Castronov signed with Epic Records when A&R man Don Grierson pushed them to record a hit track. He suggested "When I See You Smile" by Warren, and the band agreed, knowing it would be exactly what they needed.

"When I See You Smile" is a classic love anthem that's often been interpreted as reflecting the deep, unconditional bond a father feels for his daughter. It's not uncommon for the track to be a popular choice for a father-daughter dance at weddings. The hit song can also be interpreted as a heartfelt love someone has for another person during their darkest moment.

According to SongFacts, Warren wrote the track as a tribute to her father, who had always supported her career. She didn't see it as a major success until it was well-received by higher-ups. The track was originally meant to go to the band Sheriff, but they already had another song lined up for release. Instead, "When I See You Smile" went to Bad English.

While "When I See You Smile" became Bad English's biggest hit and a well-respected love anthem, it didn't lead to stardom for the band. The track was their only No. 1 hit before they disbanded in 1991.

"It was fun for a year. And then people reverted to type. I think the Journey guys wanted to be back in Journey and I wanted to be back solo. We had a very valiant attempt at making a second record, but we weren't given enough time to write it. We tried, and we almost made it," said Waite to SongFacts.

Waite's adds that the label pushed them too hard to produce another hit within a month, and the band was "trying their absolute hardest to come up with the goods." He explains they were running on empty, trying to follow the success of a No. 1 double platinum-selling record that ultimately broke up the band.

According to interviews, Waite also disliked the image they had created as a band and went back to being a solo artist. Schon and Castronovo joined the band Hardline before the latter joined Ozzy Osbourne's band. A while later, Schon returned to Cain, with Castronovo rejoining Journey in 1998.

HGTV Star Jenny Marrs Shares Heartbreaking Reflection on Devastating Loss One Year Later

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:54am

HGTV star Jenny Marrs took to social media to reflect on a devastating loss she experienced exactly one year ago. The Fixer to Fabulous star shared a handful of precious photos on Instagram, and Marrs included a lengthy caption to go along with them.

The caption began, "My body remembered before I looked at the date on the calendar. It was one year ago, I was getting ready for the day when my phone rang and I saw Jill's name on the screen."

As HGTV fans may remember, Jill and her husband Bob Hawn were neighbors of the Marrs family. They even appeared on an episode of Fixer to Fabulous.

Marrs explained in the caption of her new post that on that day, she thought Jill was calling to talk to her about land that she and Bob were in the midst of purchasing in South Africa.

"I answered expectantly — my voice hopeful and excited for her and Bob. A dream fulfilled after all these years!"

What Marrs heard from Jill was heartbreaking. She learned that Bob had died in his sleep. The news brought her to her knees, she admitted, and her husband immediately knew something was wrong as soon as he walked into the room.

View this post on Instagram

Although the HGTV couple had filming they needed to do that day, Bob's death weighed heavily on her. "I'll never forget stepping into an empty bedroom between takes to sit on the floor and weep," she wrote.

She added that Bob's death came just days before she and her husband, her Fixer to Fabulous co-star Dave Marrs, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Celebrating felt "all wrong," Marrs admitted.

However, she added, "Isn't that what this life is all about? Seeking out joy with a stubborn and relentless hope despite circumstances."

Then, Marrs shared a piece of advice with her followers. She encouraged people to follow the advice Bob had given her years ago.

He'd told her, "Jen, my name's already written in the book. I can't control my beginning or my end. Only God can. My job in the in-between is to simply live and love well."

Marrs added, "Let's choose to live and love well today in honor of my unlikely and dearly missed friend."

The HGTV star also shared the post via her Instagram Stories. She added a caption that read, "One year without our Mr. Bob."

Heartbreak came again for the Marrs family just a few months after Bob's death. On September 6, 2025, Marrs revealed in an Instagram post that Jill had also died.

She shared that "Bob had been our neighbor, friend and pseudo uncle for our kids" for years. He met Jill seven years before their deaths. "When Jill came into his life, he seemed to light up from within," Marrs wrote.

View this post on Instagram

Her husband officiated their wedding, and they considered themselves family to one another.

Fans immediately took to the comment section on Marrs' new Instagram post to send their love on this first anniversary of Bob's death.

"Grief and happiness are strange emotions but [they] can exist together. Praying for you, Jenny Marrs, and your beautiful family," one person wrote.

"Thank you for sharing your heart. My heart understands. Sending you hugs," shared another.

'Summer House' Reunion Won’t Be the End—West and Amanda’s Romance Bleeds Into 'In the City' Drama

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:53am

Summer House spinoff In the City won’t leave fans hanging after news broke that West Wilson and Amanda Batula are in a romantic relationship.

In the City, which launches in a couple of weeks — you’ll see in the first episode we have a new scene that we shot with a couple of the cast members,” Frances Berwick, NBCUniversal’s Chairman, Bravo & Peacock Unscripted, told The Ankler. “So, we did pick it up there, but we just didn’t feel like that was the right thing to do on Summer House.”

Months after Summer House filming concluded, West and Amanda announced they were together. This is after West and Ciara Miller were seemingly trying to mend their friendship and possibly start dating, while Amanda and Kyle Cooke's marriage was in serious trouble.

In the City is essentially a continuation of Summer House, following a handful of cast members as they navigate life and love back in New York City that fall. The most explosive storyline previously teased was the dissolution of Kyle and Amanda's marriage, something viewers are currently seeing play out on Summer House. The couple, who had been married for four years, announced their separation in January.

News broke in March that Amanda was dating West, throwing a wrench in the original story. But Berwick said producers wanted to "take a beat before we covered that. And that was obviously in the reunion last week; as everyone now knows, we taped the reunion last week.”

Vanderpump Rules picked up cameras amid Scandoval when it was revealed that Tom Sandoval cheated on longtime girlfriendAriana Madix with mutual friend Raquel Leviss. The series was already complete, but producers filmed an additional episode to address the explosive drama, which aired before the reunion.

In this case, Summer House will play out and conclude with the reunion, which will be filled with questions about West and Amanda’s romance. Now, In the City will also address that storyline.

In the City premieres on Tuesday, May 19, at 9 p.m. ET, after the Summer House Season 10 finale airs.

Major Airline Forced to Remove Passenger After Refusing to Hang Up Phone

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:51am

On a Delta Air Lines flight departing Miami International Airport for Atlanta, a passenger refused to end a cellphone conversation as the aircraft began taxiing toward the runway. According to airline officials, flight attendants repeatedly asked the traveler to hang up or switch the phone to airplane mode. The passenger refused, and the situation escalated. Eventually, the aircraft returned to the gate, and the passenger was removed.

The flight, identified as Delta Flight 1323, ultimately departed roughly an hour later than scheduled after the removal. Video from the cabin captured the frustration brewing among fellow passengers. At one point, travelers could be heard pleading for the individual to comply, while others began chanting for the passenger to get off the plane so everyone else could continue their journey.

“The safety of our customers and crew comes before all else, and Delta has zero tolerance for disruptive behavior. We apologize to our customers for this experience and the delay in their travels.” Delta reiterated its policy in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Don't miss a beat—subscribe now for trending travel updates and destination guides.

Why Airlines Still Care About Your Phone Before Takeoff

If you travel often, you’ve heard the instruction countless times: switch your phone to airplane mode. For many travelers today, the rule can feel outdated. After all, planes are full of Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth headphones, and laptops streaming movies.

But airline procedures still rely heavily on compliance with crew instructions. Aviation experts note that even if a single device might not pose a measurable safety risk, regulations require passengers to follow the flight crew's directions during critical phases such as taxiing and takeoff. Refusing to comply can legally be considered interference with the crew, per the New York Post.

There is also a practical reason for the rule. During taxi and takeoff, cabin crews must ensure that every passenger is attentive and prepared to follow any instructions. A traveler immersed in a phone call may miss safety guidance or fail to respond quickly in an emergency.

The Hidden Cost of One Passenger’s Decision

A one-hour delay may seem minor, yet it can ripple across an airline’s network. Pilots and crew have duty-time limits, connecting passengers risk missing onward flights, and gate availability can shift. What begins as a small disagreement between a passenger and a flight attendant can trigger a domino effect of logistical issues.

For the travelers on that Miami–Atlanta flight, the immediate impact was frustration. Cabin videos show passengers urging the individual to cooperate, some clearly worried about missed connections or lost time, according to WSBTV.

What Travelers Can Take Away From the Incident

Airplanes are among the few places where hundreds of strangers must temporarily act like a coordinated team. Flight attendants are not simply customer service staff. During taxi, takeoff, and landing, they function as safety professionals responsible for the cabin environment.

There is also a simple travel philosophy I try to keep in mind. Once you sit down in that narrow seat and hear the cabin door close, the trip has already begun. The emails can wait, the call can end, and the world on the ground will still be there when you land.

1994 Sitcom Ran for 10 Seasons and Became a Comfort Show That Defined a Generation

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:50am

Could the show Friends be any more of a classic?

Over 30 years ago, the sitcom following the lives of six 20-somethings as they navigated life in New York City premiered, and still remains a favorite today. Launching actors Jennifer Aniston,David Schwimmer,Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, and the late Matthew Perry into stardom, the character's quotes, style, and story lines are solidified into pop culture.

Premiering on September, 22, 1994 on NBC, the show quickly became "Must See TV" alongside shows like Seinfeld and Will & Grace. Viewers were invested in the trajectory of the lives of the characters, through ups and downs of their relationships, careers, and ultimately their dynamics with each other.

From Aniston's character, Rachel Green, and Schwimmer's character, Ross Gellar's on-again, off-again, relationship—in addition to Ross' own struggles with his love life—to Cox's character, Monica Gellar, with her Type-a tendencies, falling in love with Perry's character Chandler Bing, the narratives had fans glued for years. Viewers also found comic relief in LeBlanc's character, Joey Tribbiani, and Kudrow's character Phoebe Buffay.

The show also saw tons of cameos from Reese Witherspoonand Christina Applegate playing sisters to Green, while Brad Pitt—whom Aniston was married to in real life at the time—played an old high school friend with a grudge. Jane Sibbet who had a longterm role playing Ross' first wife while Michael Rapaport andPaul Rudd both played love interests of Pheobe's.

Following its finale in 2004, where the phrase "I got off the plane" will forever live on as one of the most standout quotes in TV history, the show found a new life on Netflix on 2015 where a whole new group were able to discover it while longtime fans revisited it—creating what is now known as a "comfort watch."

While the show remains a go-to, it also strikes a bittersweet chord following the 2023 death of Perry. The actor, who openly struggled with substance addiction, died of "acute effects of ketamine." The investigation into his death, which has been since ongoing, just had a major update as his supplier, known as the "Ketamine Queen" was sentenced to 15 years in prison, a federal judge ruled earlier this month.

His loss was felt greatly among the cast, who regularly talk about him in interviews.

“He was a brilliant human being and an extraordinary talent, loved deeply, and wanted happiness more than anything,” Aniston told Elle Magazine last year. “It makes me sad that he never really achieved that, because he deserved it.”

“We miss him. He’s missed," she added.

Is Fatty Liver Disease Reversible? Experts Share the Truth

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:50am

It’s understandable to feel caught off-guard when you’re given a diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Because the condition is considered a “silent” disease, you likely didn’t have any new symptoms before your diagnosis. With that, it’s fair to have a lot of questions, including whether fatty liver disease is reversible.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, or MASLD, is a common condition where excess fat builds up in the liver, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Nearly 40% of Americans have the condition, with rates increasing by 50% in the last three decades.

“What worries us most is that many people feel completely fine while damage is already happening,” says Dr. Anthony Martinez, MD, hepatologist and associate professor of medicine at the University at Buffalo.

Scientists aren’t exactly sure why some people get fatty liver disease, but the risk is higher in people with overweight or obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It’s usually diagnosed through blood tests and imaging tests, per the NIDDK.

There are treatment options available for fatty liver disease, including lifestyle changes you can make to turn things around. Here’s what you can expect once you get a treatment plan in place.

Is Fatty Liver Disease Reversible?

Yes, fatty liver disease is reversible. “Fatty liver can be reversed, especially if the disease is not very advanced to the degree of significant cirrhosis,” says Dr. Hatef Massoumi, MD, director of clinical hepatology, transplant hepatologist and gastroenterologist, at Montefiore Einstein.

In fact, Dr. Martinez says that fatty liver disease is one of the few chronic diseases with the potential to be reversed. “The liver has a remarkable ability to heal if you remove the underlying stress, mainly excess weight, poor diet and insulin resistance,” he tells Parade

But once significant scarring develops, which happens when the condition remains unchecked and untreated, it becomes harder to reverse the disease, per Dr. Martinez.

“Even then, progression can still be slowed, stopped and potentially reversed,” he explains.

Why Is Fatty Liver Disease Concerning?

There are a few reasons why fatty liver disease is concerning. “Fatty liver disease is often silent—but it’s not benign,” Dr. Martinez says.

The disease can progress into scarring of the liver tissue, liver cancer and even liver failure, Dr. Massoumi warns. “Even without progression in the liver, fatty liver disease can increase the risk of other health issues in other organs,” he adds.

Dr. Martinez agrees, sharing, “It’s tightly linked to diabetes, heart disease and obesity."

Fatty liver disease is also now one of the leading causes of liver transplant in the U.S., per Dr. Martinez. And, again, many people don’t even realize they have it.

How To Reverse Fatty Liver Disease

There are a few things you can do to reverse fatty liver disease. “The most powerful treatment we have is weight loss—losing just 7% to 10% of body weight can significantly reduce liver fat and even reverse inflammation,” Dr. Martinez says.

Your diet matters, too. “A Mediterranean-style diet—rich in vegetables, lean proteins, olive oil and whole grains—is one of the best-studied approaches for liver health,” Dr. Martinez explains. Why? “The Mediterranean diet pattern tends to be high in fiber, low in saturated fats and rich in antioxidants,” saysJessica Cording, RD, author of The Little Book of Game-Changers. All of those are supportive of liver health, she adds.

Related: Here’s How Many Minutes You Need To Walk per Day To Lose Weight in Your 40s

But Dr. Martinez doesn’t recommend trying overhaul your diet overnight. “Small, consistent changes beat extreme diets every time,” he says.

On the lifestyle front, it’s also important to start or continue an exercise routine. “Exercise matters just as much as diet—150 minutes per week of moderate activity can reduce liver fat even without major weight loss,” Dr. Martinez tells Parade

Your doctor may also recommend medications like Rezdiffra (resmetirom) to help remove fat from your liver and reverse scarring, Dr. Martinez adds.

Ultimately, experts stress the importance of working closely with your healthcare provider to try to turn things around. Remember: “Fatty liver can be reversed,” Dr. Massoumi says.

Sand-Loving Retirees Might Want To Reconsider Settling Down in This State as Beach Tag Prices Soar

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:44am

Growing up in Philadelphia is synonymous with summers at the New Jersey Shore. Every neighborhood in Philly has a certain beach they tend to flock to—for those of us in Lawncrest, Wildwood, and Cape May were the spots. Home to one of the best boardwalks in the U.S., Wildwood has so many fun things to do and experience, but admittedly, the beach is subpar. Tourists walk what feels like miles to the shoreline, which is often immensely overcrowded, and it doesn't have a reputation for being the cleanest.

However, it is the state's largest beach and is free to visit. That's right: the other beaches in New Jersey all cost money to step onto during the season, and it reportedly just got more expensive than ever. If you're a retiree on the hunt for your beachfront golden years home, you might want to consider skipping New Jersey altogether.

2026 Jersey Shore Beach Badge Price Increases

Much like everything else in 2026, inflation has raised the prices of NJ beaches, with some areas jumping by $25, according to an NJ.com analysis. Here is how much a summer at these Jersey beaches will set you back:

  • Mantoloking
Day Pass: $15 Seasonal Badge: $145 Increase Difference: +$25 (Seasonal)
  • Avon-by-the-Sea
Day Pass: $14 Seasonal Badge: $110 Increase Difference: +$10 (Seasonal)
  • Bay Head
Day Pass: $10 (est.) Seasonal Badge: $120 Increase Difference: +$10 (Seasonal)
  • Bradley Beach
Day Pass: $14 Seasonal Badge: $80 Increase Difference: +$1 (Daily only)
  • Ocean Grove
Day Pass: $13 Seasonal Badge: $105 Increase Difference: +$5 (Seasonal)
  • Monmouth Beach
Day Pass: $15 Seasonal Badge: $110 Increase Difference: +$5 (Seasonal)
  • 7 Presidents Oceanfront Park (Long Branch)
Day Pass: $10 Seasonal Badge: $80 Increase Difference: +$5 (Seasonal)
  • Surf City
Day Pass: $11 Seasonal Badge: $55 Increase Difference: +$5 (Seasonal)
  • Longport
Day Pass: $5 Seasonal Badge: $40 Increase Difference: +$5 (Seasonal)
  • Sea Bright
Day Pass: $10 Seasonal Badge: $100 Increase Difference: +$2 (Daily only)
  • Avalon
Day Pass: $10 Seasonal Badge: $42 Increase Difference: +$2 (Seasonal)
  • Stone Harbor
Day Pass: $10 Seasonal Badge: $42 Increase Difference: +$2 (Seasonal)

It's important to note that many of these towns offer "pre-season" discounts if you purchase your seasonal badges before May 31, 2026. For example, in Avalon and Stone Harbor, you can secure your seasonal badge for $37 if purchased by the end of May, saving $5 off the regular season price. They also offer senior discounts, which lowers the price for many retirees individually, but isn't helpful when the grandkids come to visit.

New Jersey for Retirees

Regardless of beach prices, retirees may want to skip out on Jersey altogether. The Garden State was recently dubbed one of the worst spots for retirees to settle. In 2025, Seniorly compiled data on all 50 states, calling it “one of the least affordable states in the country.” The report says the tax rate for top earners is 10.75 percent, which could apply to those with substantial retirement savings and investments.

They also noted that the state has poor access to arts and recreation opportunities for seniors and has a very unhealthy senior population, with 65 percent of the seniors living in Jersey having more than three chronic conditions.

For retirees looking to stay in the Northeast part of the country (be it for family or health), there are some East Coast options that are more tax-friendly. Delaware beaches, including Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, are among the country's top underrated retirement destinations. Plus, the state’s beloved tax-friendliness includes the fact that Social Security income isn’t taxed, there is no sales tax, and property taxes are low.

A $5 Trader Joe’s Snack Is Sweet, Buttery and Hard to Put Down

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:37am

Trader Joe’s is known for simple snacks that land a little differently, and a new $5 find showing up in stores is getting attention for its sweet-and-savory flavor.

This limited-time combination isn’t one you see very often, especially in the nut aisle, where most options are often more traditional. That contrast is part of what’s making this one stand out, and why it may be best to grab it when you spot it.

Check it out in this April 26 post from @trader_joes_treasure_hunt:

View this post on Instagram

Trader Joe’s Honey Butter Cashews are a roasted-nut snack coated in a crisp, candy-like glaze that brings together sweetness, richness, and a light salty finish. It’s that contrast between the glaze and the roasted nuts that gives them a more layered bite than standard varieties, adding just enough crunch without masking the cashews themselves.

One early comment on the post reads, “OMG, I’m sure I’d eat the whole bag. All at once,” which reflects how this type of flavor combination tends to land. Sweet-and-salty snacks like this are easy to keep going back to, especially when the coating stays light enough to let the cashews come through.

Related: This Trader Joe’s Spring Spread Is Making Breakfast Sweeter

They also work in a few different ways beyond just snacking. You can add them to ice cream, set them out with cheeses or crackers, or chop them into salads or noodle dishes for extra texture and flavor. The sweetness leans just far enough to stand out, but not so far that it limits how you use them.

At $4.99, the honey butter cashews fit into Trader Joe’s usual snack price range, making them an easy addition to a cart. And because it’s a limited-time item, it may not last long, depending on the store.

Like many Trader Joe’s finds, availability can vary by location, so it may not be everywhere just yet. But for anyone who gravitates toward sweet-and-salty snacks, this is one to keep an eye out for the next time you’re walking the aisle.

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:29am

Nile Rodgers and Duran Duran are bringing love back!

The '80s icons teamed up for an electrifying performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! debuting their single, "Free to Love." The song is Duran Duran's first musical release of 2026. Frontman Simon Le Bon describes the track as "disco for the 2020s," and judging from his group's onstage performance on 'Kimmel,' he's right on target.

In an official statement about "Free to Love," Le Bon declares, "It's up-beat and up-tempo; it's about freedom; it's about loving the modern world instead of hating it, and that is something we need right now. Be free! Be free to love!"

"Free to Love" is Duran Duran and Rodgers' latest musical collaboration. Both first teamed up for their 1984 single "The Reflex" from the former's third studio album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger. "The Reflex" became Duran Duran's first to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart and led to a decades-long partnership between Duran Duran and Rodgers.

"My love for Duran Duran and what our music together has always been about is the love we share for our song's deepest meanings. Whatever chaos is going on outside, inside the studio, we're free to love our peace," says Rodgers.

Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers are having a tremendous year so far. The New York Times named Rodgers as one of the 30 greatest living American Songwriters. The Chic co-founder, six-time Grammy Award winner, and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is known for crafting timeless hits, including "Le Freak" and "I Want Your Love."

As for Duran Duran, the two-time Grammy and Ivor Novello band are gearing up for an appearance at BeachLife Festival on May 1 before heading to their four-night exclusive residency at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas and a European summer tour kicking off in June.

Bassist John Taylor told PEOPLEabout Duran Duran's longevity, "This is all f—king cake at this point, we've had such an extraordinary career, really, and I just feel so incredibly fortunate that I've been around so much great music."

"The fact that there's anything still coming out is remarkable to me."

"Free to Love" is available everywhere now.

Private correspondence between Kaz Brekker and an anonymous sailor have been found, and they could help to uncover the truth behind the latest diaster.

There’s been a massacre on an island just off Ketterdam’s shores. Two investigators need to figure out how this was allowed to happen and who was involved, and all they have are letters between Kaz and this sailor who was aboard the Wraith, a ship with a mysterious sea captain.

The problem? The sailor goes by the name “I.” That’s it, and it means there is a mystery to find out who this sailor is to help uncover the rest of the details.

Bardugo shared on Goodreads that this short story will only be available in physical form. Due to the immersive nature of the story, it couldn’t be told in digital form. There are beautiful E.K. Belsher and some in-world collectables. One of those is a special poster created by Kevin Wada, which is included with proof of purchase of the book for those in the United States and Canada. International readers can pre-order it, all while supplies last.

There may not be an audio version of it either. The Shadow and Bone author has admitted that she can’t see how that would work due to the visual nature of the tale. The whole story is a puzzle piece, as we follow the lead investigator to solve the mystery.

The release marks 10 years of the Crows, and it’s the best way to delve back into the universe.

Your Credit Card Points Are About to Lose Value on This Popular Airline

Thu, 04/30/2026 - 9:10am

If you’ve spent any time in the world of points and miles, you’ve likely heard about the "Air Canada trick." For years, savvy travelers have used the airline’s Aeroplan program as a secret weapon, transferring points from cards like Amex or Chase to snag luxury seats on partner airlines like SWISS or Lufthansa for a fraction of the usual cost. But if you’ve been sitting on a stash of points for a smarter splurge to Europe or Asia, it’s time to move—fast.

Air Canada has quietly posted an ominous note on its website: "As of June 1, 2026, we’re making a few changes to the number of points you may need to redeem for a reward." While this isn't a total "points-pocalypse," it is a classic devaluation that will hit the most popular bucket-list routes the hardest.

Where the Points Hike Hurts Most

The real bread and butter of the Aeroplan program is using points to book partner airlines within the Star Alliance. Unfortunately, according to the Thrifty Traveler, that’s exactly where the biggest price jumps are happening:

  • The Europe Business Class Shuffle: Popular business class flights to Europe (think TAP Air Portugal or Austrian Airlines) are jumping from 70,000 to 75,000 miles each way.
  • The First Class Premium: If you were eyeing a seat in the world-famous Lufthansa First Class, get ready to dig deeper. Those redemptions are soaring from 100,000 to 120,000 points.
  • The Asia Stretch: Long-haul flights to Asia are seeing an 8% to 13% increase, meaning a 75,000-point business class seat will soon set you back 85,000 points.

Where You Still Win

It’s not all bad news. In a surprising twist, Air Canada is actually making some short-haul travel a bit cheaper to help balance the scales. The shortest partner-redemption economy flights to Europe are dropping by about 7%, and some intra-Europe business class hops are also seeing a price dip. Plus, if you're flying out of East Coast hubs like Boston or New York, many of those 60,000-point sweet spots to Europe are staying exactly where they are.

How to Outsmart the Price Hikes

If you have a trip in mind, the best move is to book before the June 1 deadline. Even if you aren't 100% sure of your dates, locking in the current rates now can save you tens of thousands of points per person. Air Canada’s program remains one of the most flexible out there because they don't pass on those massive fuel surcharges that other airlines do—so even with a small price hike, it’s still a powerhouse for the savvy traveler looking to see the world on a budget.

As if it wasn't enough to get the return of the s'mores-flavored Oreos (S'moreos), this season, fans have another summery staple-inspired sandwich cookie to enjoy: Oreo Firecracker Pop.

The new limited-time release is inspired by the childhood favorite ice pop of the same name and even though it was only formally announced today, it actually leaked online earlier this week to the delight of fans everywhere.
