Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson Says She 'Burnt' One of Her Kids Out After Pushing Them Too Hard
Shawn Johnson is opening up about a parenting decision she wishes she had handled differently.
During an appearance on The Bossticks on Thursday, July 2, the Olympic gold medalist admitted that she and husband Andrew East accidentally pushed one of their children too hard after a coach encouraged them to fast-track the child's athletic development.
"We have already learned firsthand and we've done it wrong already," Johnson, 34, revealed. "I will openly say this, I burnt our one of our children from like a passion that they had because I drank the Kool-Aid."
She explained that after a coach suggested their child needed to be placed on a faster development track, she bought into the idea. "I[I put] one of our kids, you know, in the fast track, and within a month, they were like, 'I'm done.'" she recalled. "It just took it from being fun and from being a passion to being serious, and no kid needs to do something serious yet."
Now, Johnson says she and East, also 34, have completely shifted their approach. "We've just found that our job now is to say, 'I'm so excited for you. How can I help you?'" East agreed, saying they've become much more intentional about encouraging their children without projecting their own ambitions onto them. "You have to give people space to figure out what they like and what they don't like," he said. "What I definitely don't want to do is project my own thing... onto my kids."
Elsewhere in the conversation, Johnson reflected on her own athletic career, explaining that she believes her age actually worked in her favor when she competed at the 2008 Olympics.
"I was 16," she said. "I was not mature enough to be able to digest the magnitude of it, which I think was also a blessing." She later attempted a comeback for the 2012 Games before retiring, saying that as she got older, she better understood the literal gravity of things.
Johnson became a household name at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she won four medals, including gold on the balance beam and silver in the all-around, team, and floor exercise competitions. She officially retired from gymnastics in 2012 after a knee injury ended her comeback bid.
She married East, who is a former NFL player, in April 2016, and the couple share three children: daughter Drew, 6, son Jett, 4, and son Barrett, 2
1971 Ballad, the Decadeās Most-Covered Song, Became a Cross-Generational AnthemĀ
InĀ July 1971,Ā John LennonĀ was putting the finishing touches on a masterpiece that, according toĀ Grunge, would become the most-covered song of the decade and an enduring anthem that would transcend borders, time, and generations.
OnJuly 4, Lennon traveled to theĀ Record PlantĀ inĀ New York CityĀ to record the iconic string arrangements for āImagine.ā Later that summer, he was famouslyĀ filmedĀ at his English estate,Ā Tittenhurst Park, singing different versions of the song on his magnificent white piano.
Co-written with his wife,Ā Yoko Ono, and drafted on a sheet ofĀ Hilton HotelĀ stationery, the track made its official debut later that year inĀ October. Music fans immediately embraced the song for its soft, hypnotic melody and hopeful vision for a world without borders, religions, or material possessions.
Seen as an idealistic, universal anthem of peace, the track was a natural evolution of Lennonās earlier peace activism. Despite slightĀ controversyĀ caused by the opening line, āImagine thereās no heaven,ā the song became a cultural symbol of unity and one of Lennonās defining works. It also became the most successful single of his solo career.
Reflecting on the songās creation, Lennon shared the following, which was published on the artist's officialĀ website:
āāImagineā is a song conceived in my head without melody. The first verse came to me very quickly in the form of a childlike street chant āda da da da da dee dee, da dee da ee a eeeh.ā
āThe piano intro Iāve had hanging around in my head for a few yearsāthe chords and melody followed naturally from this.
āThe middle eight was āconceivedā to finish off the song. I think it works as a song. Of course, there is always room for improvementāotherwise I wouldnāt make any more.
āThe third verse came to me in an eight-seater plane.
āItās a song for children.ā

The songās simple beginnings ultimately produced one of popular musicās most enduring standards. SinceĀ 1971, āImagineā has been coveredĀ more than 760 times,Ā GrungeĀ reported.Ā Ā
āBack when Lennon released āImagineā off his 1971 album of the same name, he might not have known how big it would become or how many people would pick up their acoustic guitars and strum away to the track,ā the outlet wrote. āYet by the year of his death, 1980, Lennon considered āImagineā to be āthe best song [he ād] ever writtenā and āalmost like a prayer.āā
InĀ 2024,Ā Rolling StoneĀ ranked āImagineā in theĀ Top 20Ā of its list of theĀ top 500 songsĀ of all time. The recognition followed the trackās chart success on theĀ Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked atĀ No. 3, and its inclusion in theĀ Library of Congress'Ā National Recording RegistryĀ inĀ 2023.
āIn this simple paean to global unity and fellowship,ā authorĀ Kenneth WomackĀ wrote, āLennon had the courage, incredible as that may seem both then and especially now, to imagine new possibilities for living in a better, and as of yet unrealized world.ā
WithĀ notable coversĀ stemming fromĀ Elton John,Ā Neil Young,Ā Ray Charles,Ā Joan Baez, andĀ Chris Cornell, the anthem is proof that an incredible song never belongs to just one voice.

Will Hugh Jackman Help the Next Actor Who Plays Wolverine?
It's hard to imagine anyone but Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine. Jackman, 57, debuted as the beloved X-Men character in 2000. He then returned in nine more movies.
He revealed whether he'll be involved when it's time to step away from the mutant character, and another person wears the Adamantium claws.
Hugh Jackman Won't Help the Next Wolverine Actor In 2000, Jackman hit it big when he scored the role of Wolverine in X-Men. Since then, he's starred in six X-Men movies as the haunted mutant hero, including July's box office smash, The Wolverine.20th Century Fox
Project Big Screen asked Jackman if he would help the next person who takes on the role. His knowledge from over 25 years of playing the character would be invaluable.
"Iām 57. Iām doing it till Iām 90," the actor said first. "So, you know, Iāll do a little time capsule for them. Iām not going to say anything to whoever plays him, ācause no one said anything to me, which I really am thrilled about."
The Broadway star continued with honesty about his lack of knowledge going into the first movie. "And I had not read the comics, so I was just coming to it fresh," the Oscar nominee said. "And I learned a lot over the years. Of course, Iāve got my own take, but it must be melding in with me in some way. I hope someone just comes in and does whatever the f--k they want and makes it their own."

Who Is Writing and Directing the 'X-Men' Reboot? Jake Schreier attends the World Premiere of Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts*"Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney
Jake SchreierĀ is set to direct the X-Men reboot to integrate them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first movie will be released after Avengers: Secret Wars in 2028, according to Collider. Schreier already showed off his superhero chops directing Thunderbolts*.
Lee Sung Jin, who created Netflix's Beef,Ā and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo are writing the script for the movie. Schreier, 44, explained why they're the best fit for the job.
"When you go back and read X-Men [comics], there's ideology but also interpersonal drama, almost of a soap opera quality," he said. "Having writers who understand both how to drive ideology from personal stakes, if we get that right, that's what will feel most honest to what X-Men can be."
Technically, The Fantastic Four: First Steps starring Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, was the newest return of mutants to the cinematic universe. Its post-credit scene jumps forward four years, and Sue Storm gets a book to read to her toddler son. She sees Doctor Doom kneeling in front of her boy.
There is a good chance Jackman will be involved with the future X-Men movies since there is no announcement of him stopping to play Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine already played with the character interacting with familiar and new X-Men characters through the multiverse.
Tyler Mane played Sabertooth in the 2024 movie. Liev Schreiber previously played the same character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. There is still time to see which actors will step into the familiar roles that involve Wolverine.

ā70s Rock Band Announces New Dates for 2027 Tour
Public Image Ltd (PiL) has announced four new Japan concert dates for February 2027, marking the band's first performances in the country since 2018.
The announcement was made on the band's official website on Tuesday. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on July 18, at 10 A.M., while the pre-sale opens on July 9 at 12 P.M.
The newly announced dates are:
- Feb. 3, 2027 ā Diamond Hall, Nagoya
- Feb. 5, 2027 ā Namba Hatch, Osaka
- Feb. 7, 2027 ā Bay Hall, Yokohama
- Feb. 8, 2027 ā Toyosu PIT, Tokyo
The Japan concerts become the latest addition to PiL's busy international touring schedule, which already includes European, Australasian and North American performances stretching from 2026 into 2027.

The Japan shows arrive after the band announced its extensive North American This Is Not... The Final PiL Tour, which runs across late 2026 and early 2027.
The first North American leg begins on Sept. 3, 2026, in Pioneertown, California, before concluding on Oct. 9 in Nashville. A second leg resumes on Feb. 17, 2027, in Salt Lake City and finishes on March 24 in Cleveland.
Earlier this year, PiL also confirmed an Australia and New Zealand tour scheduled for January 2027. Those concerts will mark the band's first Australian performances since 2013 and its first New Zealand appearance since 1989.
The newly announced Japan dates fit between the Australasian shows in January and the second North American leg beginning later in February, giving the band a packed global itinerary for early 2027.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, frontman John Lydon recently explained why returning to the road became important after the deaths of his wife Nora Forster and longtime manager John "Rambo" Stevens in 2023.
"After losing Nora, and Rambo, I couldn't see a way through," he said. "The thing is, people were so overwhelmingly positive, they really showed me a lot of love, and they asked me to tour PiL again. With so many people asking and with the band meaning so much to them, I couldn't just stay on my sofa and not tour ā tempting though that obviously is."
Lydon also shared the band's excitement about reconnecting with audiences and working on new music.
"We're looking forward to playing to our friends in North America. It feels like it's been a long time and we're pleased to be coming back. We've just been into the studio for four weeks to start work on our new record. You'll be hearing a lot more from PiL."
The band has also confirmed that a new studio album is currently in production for release in early 2027. In addition, PiL plans to release a live album, Alive, recorded during its 2025 tour.
Public Image Ltd was formed in June 1978 by vocalist John Lydon following the breakup of the Sex Pistols. The band was originally created with guitarist Keith Levene, bassist Jah Wobble and drummer Jim Walker.
Over the decades, PiL became known for blending post-punk with elements of dub, experimental rock, progressive rock, alternative music and pop. Their early albums, including First Issue, Metal Box, and The Flowers of Romance, helped shape the post-punk movement.
Lydon has remained the group's only constant member throughout its history. After reforming PiL in 2009 following a 17-year hiatus, the band has released three additional studio albums: This Is PiL (2012), What the World Needs Now... (2015), and End of World (2023).
The current lineup features John Lydon, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and drummer Mark Roberts.
PiL continues one of its busiest touring periods in years, giving fans across multiple continents opportunities to see the pioneering post-punk band live throughout 2027.

1994 Country Song Is Often Mistaken for a Patriotic Anthem, But Its Real Meaning Is Much Darker
One of Martina McBride's most powerful songs might also be the most misunderstood song of her discography.
Her popular 1994 track "Independence Day" is frequently mistaken for a song about patriotism and American freedom, but that's not exactly what McBride was thinking about when she wrote the emotional lyrics.
Despite the common misinterpretation, "Independence Day" is actually a poignant song about domestic abuse. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a young girl who witnesses her mother being abused by her father. By the end of the song, her mom ends up burning down their house to escape the violence, breaking free of her husband's abuse and therefore marking a sort of "Independence Day."
But fans haven't always understood the deeper meaning to the lyrics, and even McBride is aware that the song is frequently misunderstood for a patriotic anthem.
"I have mixed feelings about it, to be honest," McBride told Rolling Stone in 2019. "I have always had such a connection to the real meaning of the song, and itās ⦠'annoying' isnāt the word...interesting that some people just don't understand what the song is about at all."
But McBride famously performed "Independence Day" in at the 2001 Farm Aid concert just weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks, even though she knew the song had been misinterpreted.
"We were all so raw, weād never been through anything like that before. The decisions that we were making ā that I was making ā were based on emotion, and trying to have solidarity and pulling together as a country," she said. "When I realized that the words to that chorus, ālet freedom ring,ā kind of mirror what we were all feeling at the time, I made that decision to do that. But looking back, I never want to take away from what the song is really about."
Even considering the confusion around the song's meaning, "Independence Day" is widely considered one of McBride's signature tracks, and it's been called one of the āmost powerful country songs of all time,ā according toĀ Country Cord.
Itās also been named among some of the best country songs in the entire genre, withĀ Rolling StoneĀ including the McBride track at No. 45 on its list of the 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time.
Tommy Lee Reveals the Surprising Reason He's Stayed the Same Weight Since High School
Tommy Leehas never been one to count caloriesābut according to the Mƶtley Crüe drummer, he hasn't had to.
During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience on Tuesday, June 30, the 62-year-old revealed that he's maintained nearly the same weight since high school, despite never following a strict diet.Ā
Curious about how that was possible, Lee decided to do a little experiment. "I was, like, 'Okay, how come I've weighed the same weight since f**king high school till today?'" he recalled. "And I'm, like, 'That's f**king weird.'"
To get some insight, Lee explained that years ago he clipped a pedometer to his shoe before one of Mötley Crüe's concerts to see just how much ground he covered during a typical performance. And after a two-hour show, he finally had his answer.
"I f**king took it off after the show, and I looked down, and it said 13.3 miles," he said. "And I was, like, 'So that's why I'm a skinny f**k.'"
For Lee, drumming has always been far more demanding than many fans realize. "It's more like a sport. And you're the f**king heartbeat, man," he explained. "People say your band's only as good as your drummer...it is physical, and it's draining. But it's f**king rad. I live for it."
Lee is about to hit the road with Mötley Crüe on the band's Return of the Carnival of Sins North American tour, which runs through the end of September. Fans will also be able to pick up a new premium Mötley Crüe trading card collection later this year.
Away from the stage, Lee has also weathered his share of personal headlines the past year. Rumors of a split with wife Brittany Furlan surfaced after Furlan revealed she'd been catfished by someone pretending to be Falling in Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke in May 2025, prompting her to temporarily stay in a hotel while the couple worked through the situation. She later said the ordeal "weirdly brought [them] together," explaining on her This Is the Worst podcast per People, "The big thing is healing."Ā
Lee eventually put the speculation to rest, sharing a smiling photo of the couple on Instagram alongside the caption, "Hey fake news we're not separated or divorced!! Get your s**t together!!" The pair married in February 2019 after about two years of dating.
Before marrying Furlan, Lee was famously married to Pamela Anderson, with whom he shares sons Brandon, 30, and Dylan, 28.
Wrestling Legend Called 'The Hitman' Turns 69
Wrestling legend Bret "The Hitman" Hart celebrated his 69th birthday on Thursday, adding another milestone to one of the most respected careers in professional wrestling history.
Widely recognized as one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time, Hart remains one of the sport's most influential figures decades after stepping away from full-time competition. His technical wrestling style, championship success and memorable rivalries helped redefine mainstream North American professional wrestling throughout the 1990s.
The Canadian-American wrestling icon built a Hall of Fame career that spanned five decades, winning championships from the 1970s through the 2010s. During his career, Hart captured 32 championships, including seven world titles, with five WWF Championships and two WCW World Heavyweight Championships.
Hart is also remembered as the wrestler who brought technical wrestling to the forefront during the WWF's New Generation era, earning the nickname "The Excellence of Execution" while competing under his famous moniker, "The Hitman."
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart makes his entrance during Monday Night RAW at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sept. 9, 2024 in Calgary, Canada. His list of accomplishments includes becoming the second WWF Triple Crown Champion, winning the King of the Ring tournament twice in 1991 and 1993, sharing victory in the 1994 Royal Rumble with Lex Luger and headlining WrestleMania IX, X, and XII. He also became the first WCW World Heavyweight Champion born outside the United States.
In addition to his championship achievements, Hart became the first wrestler inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame three separate times; first as an individual in 2006, again with The Hart Foundation in 2019 and once more in 2025 when his Submission Match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 became the inaugural inductee into the Immortal Moments category.
Hart's impact on professional wrestling continues to be recognized in 2026.
Earlier this year, the Cauliflower Alley Club announced that Hart will receive the prestigious 2026 Lou Thesz Award during CAC 60, scheduled for Aug. 24-26 at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The organization praised Hart's lifelong contributions to wrestling, stating:
"Few names in professional wrestling carry the respect, legacy and excellence of Hart. A world champion, a master of his craft, and one of the most influential performers of all time, Bret's career represents everything the Lou Thesz Award stands for."
Making the occasion even more meaningful, Natalya "Nattie" Neidhart, who received the award in 2025, will present the honor to her uncle during the ceremony.
Although retired from regular competition, Hart continues to share his views on the wrestling business. During an interview in late 2025, the WWE Hall of Famer expressed concerns about the modern wrestling style.
"I have a hard time watching today's wrestling⦠It's too fake for me. I think that today's wrestlers are actors. Most of them are actors pretending to be wrestlers. And, you know, they don't actually know how to wrestle, and they don't even know what a headlock is⦠I see guys throwing punches, and they open their hand at the last second and slap the guy⦠Why don't you take 10 minutes and go down have someone teach you how to throw a punch instead of throwing that embarrassment of a punch?"
Despite those criticisms, Hart praised several modern and recent wrestling stars, including John Cena.
"I would love to have wrestled Dwayne Johnson a lot more times⦠John Cena would be up [there]. I found John Cena was very comparable or similar to me in the sense that he was a serious professional, that he was a detailed guy that went over every little detail in the match."
Born on July 2, 1957, in Calgary, Alberta, Hart grew up in the legendary Hart wrestling family under his father, Stu Hart. He began his wrestling journey in Stampede Wrestling before rising to international fame in WWF and later WCW.
Outside the ring, Hart has appeared in television and films, authored biographies, supported stroke recovery and cancer awareness causes and remained active through public appearances and wrestling events.
As he celebrates his 69th birthday, Bret "The Hitman" Hart continues to stand among wrestling's most respected legends, with his accomplishments and influence still recognized throughout the industry.

Fellow Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure celebrated the couple in the comments. "Awwww happy anniversary!!!! to two of the BEST people I know. Your love truly is patient and kind, it protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. I love you!!" she wrote.Ā

1966 Western With a Legendary 15-Minute Showdown Was Just Named the Greatest Blockbuster Western of All Time
When it comes to ranking the greatest movies of all time, blockbuster status doesn't always mean a film is among the best ever made. A new ranking celebrates both, naming the best blockbuster Western of all time. Featuring a legendary 15- to 20-minute finale shootout that has been studied and admired by generations of movie fans and filmmakers alike, the newly crowned No. 1 blockbuster Western stars Clint Eastwoodin a career-defining role and cements the mastery of director Sergio Leone, whose influence can still be seen in the work of today's most accomplished filmmakers.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is often ranked among the greatest films ever made. Whether compared with other Westerns or epic films in general, Leone's 1966 American Civil War drama is widely considered the director's crowning achievement. A recent ranking named The Good, the Bad and the Ugly the greatest blockbuster Western of all time. Here's why:
āEven if The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was nothing except an amazing climax, it would still probably be among the best Westerns ever made. You could suffer through about two and a half hours of so-so ā or even tedious ā stuff, but then if the payoff to it all was as amazing as the last 15 to 20 minutes of this, itād make all the lesser scenes that came before feel forgivable.
Thankfully, what you actually get with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a movie thatās amazing throughout, and then somehow a little more amazing at the very end. Itās about three guys trying to get to some buried gold before anyone else, and itās riveting, doing so much with a simple premise, and also feeling about as big, entertaining, and exciting as Westerns can conceivably get.ā
Why The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Still Defines the Western GenreConsidered a cinematic masterpiece, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly stars Clint Eastwood as Blondie, alongside Lee Van Cleef as the ruthless Angel Eyes and Eli Wallach as the cunning Tuco. The film follows three gunslingers racing to uncover a cache of buried Confederate gold during the American Civil War and remains a favorite of director Quentin Tarantino.
Its sweeping cinematography, morally complex characters, and slow-building tension helped redefine the Western genre, but it's the iconic final sequence that truly sets The Good, the Bad and the Ugly apart.

Using the same slow-burn, less-is-more style Leone would later bring to Once Upon a Time in the West, the finale builds suspense not through relentless action or heavy dialogue, but through prolonged silence, extreme close-ups, lingering camera movements, and deliberately paced editing.
The result is one of the most famous shootout scenes in movie history, proving that patience and atmosphere can be every bit as gripping as nonstop action.
Why the Film Remains a Timeless ClassicNearly 60 years after its release, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly remains one of the most successful Westerns ever made and one of the most critically acclaimed films in cinema history. Its deliberate pacing, unforgettable close-ups, iconic musical score, and outstanding performances transformed the Western genre, making it not only a blockbuster hit but also one of the most influential and studied films of all time.

No matter how you prefer to listen to tunes, thereās no denying that record players and vinyl collections are firmly back in style in 2026. Vinyl sales have been on the rise for nearly two decades and surpassed $1 billion in 2025 ā and itās easy to see why. In a time when enjoying music often requires a streaming subscription, collecting and listening to physical copies of your favorite albums can feel incredibly refreshing and grounding. Whether you like to scour used record store shelves for hidden gems or snag freshly printed editions from your favorite artists (hello, Swifties!), thereās a way for everyone to get in on the fun.
Every vinyl collector benefits from having a few key tools in their arsenal, and a safe place to store all those bulky albums is absolutely essential. In my nearly 10 years of owning record players and collecting vinyl albums, the best solution Iāve found is the Tewinko Record Player Stand. This thoughtfully designed unit is the centerpiece of my living room and the best upgrade Iāve ever made to my record setup. Better yet, itās a steal at just $76 on Amazon right now.
Tewinko Record Player Stand, $76 (was $80) at Amazon Shop at AmazonThe beauty of this stand is in the details. The Tewinko model I chose features a powder-coated metal frame and a three-tier center shelf thatās great for displaying turntables, speakers, and other audio equipment. For all of your traditional vinyl albums, there are six layers of record storage shelves lining the center tier (three on each side) made from durable oxford fabric. That gives buyers a total of nine tiers to work with! Assembly was fast and simple with the included directions, and the stand hasnāt shown a hint of instability in the roughly three months Iāve owned it.
Measuring 49 inches long, about 12 inches wide, and 29 inches tall, the brand notes that the whole structure can store over 200 albums. While I havenāt tried filling it to that capacity, I have successfully piled my turntable, a duo of speakers, a mini preamplifier, multiple bulky box sets, and dozens of albums onto its many tiers. I love that it keeps all my vinyls upright and safe while also displaying the vibrant cover art.Ā
I keep the rest of my collection in basic record boxes nearby, so itās easy to add new albums into the mix whenever Iām craving a change. Itās like a mini, customizable gallery that highlights all my favorite music!Ā
Tewinko Record Player Stand, $76 (was $80) at Amazon Shop at AmazonTewinko has several additional record stand options with slight variations in size and design up for grabs, so itās easy to find a model that suits your space. For smaller spaces (or smaller vinyl collections), there are versions with record storage on one side instead of both sides starting at $54. You can also shop Tewinko models that feature enclosed backs or nifty rolling vinyl storage carts. The stands come in black, white, brown, and gold hues, and they range up to $123 depending on the version.
Iām not the only vinyl collector who has fallen in love with this stand. Other reviewers have also raved about the āvery attractiveā design, āeasyā assembly, and ample shelf space. āItās amazing. Everything fit on it perfectly,ā one customer wrote.
Even if youāre not in the market for a record stand, these Tewinko units arenāt limited to vinyl storage. The center shelf is great for any plant, picture, cooking pot, or piece of decor that needs a home. Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Already Married?
Rumors are flying! Taylor Swiftand Travis Kelceās supposed wedding is this weekend, and from the food to the decor, everyone is buzzing about the superstar coupleās reported Madison Square Garden July Fourth nuptials. But some sources say the pair secretly wed in an intimate ceremony ahead of their enormous arena event.
NEW YORK, NY - June 30: General views around Madison Square Garden on June 30, 2026 in New York City. (Photo by Andrea Renault/Star Max/GC Images) Getty ImagesA source who is close to the singer and her NFL player future husband recently told Page Six, āThey are already married.ā But thatās not the only clue. Swiftās private jet reportedly made a series of stops last Sunday, touching down in Philadelphia, Tampa, Nashville, and New York City.Ā
Why Philadelphia? Kelceās father, Ed, lives in the city. Older brother Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie live in Haverford, Pennsylvania, a Philly suburb.Ā
Of course, thereās no official statement on whether the couple has already wed or will tie the knot in front of 1,000 or so guests at MSG.Ā
A smaller, private civil ceremony before a larger, lavish, or public wedding isn't out of the norm for celebs. Recently, Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump married in Palm Beach, Florida, before heading to the Bahamas for a second wedding in front of family (sans the President) and friends. Likewise, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner married in a small, secret ceremony and later flew to Sicily for an opulent event.Ā
What do we know about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelceās upcoming wedding?Whether theyāre already legally married or not, the speculation about the coupleās wedding weekend just wonāt stop. So far, here are the supposed highlights:
- Per the AP, an application for a āSpecial Event at MSGā was approved Wednesday night and includes a schedule of events from 8:00 a.m. on July 2 through 7:00 p.m. on July 4.
- ESPN reported that a law enforcement official briefed on the security plans said the wedding will take place at MSG on Friday (July 3) night, starting at 5:00 p.m.Ā
- Travis Kelceās mom, Donna Kelce, arrived in New York City on Thursday, according to TMZ.
- A large, mysterious silver SUV arrived at MSG late Thursday afternoon.
- NBC News revealed that Madison Square Garden staff members and corporate employees were not allowed to enter the venue.Ā
- Multiple media outlets spotted food deliveries to the arena on Wednesday and Thursday.Ā
- Speculation about a whoās who celebrity guest list with stars such as Selena Gomez, Stevie Nicks, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and the New York Knicks starting five made the rounds.
- Rolling Stone claimed Stevie Nicks isn't just a guest; sheās also a possible musical performer.
And yes, every second that ticks closer to Swift and Kelceās alleged nuptials brings new revelations. But with the couple staying silent, it looks like their fans will just have to wait and see. Or they could just bet on it. There are currently over $2 million in bets on prediction markets (like Kalshi), according to CBS News.
These 9 'Selfish' Habits Actually Signal High Intelligence, Psychologist Says
Is there someone in your life who comes across as a bit selfish? For instance, maybe you know a person who draws strong boundaries, spends a lot of time alone or always takes forever to reply to your messages. These are just a few of the many habits that can make someone seem egocentricĀ but in actuality, they may be indicators of high intelligence.
Think about popular TV characters like Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, Tony Soprano from The Sopranos or Selina Meyer from Veep. All of these protagonists were out for themselves and wanted things done their way, making them unquestionably selfish (at least, most of the time). However, they were also all brilliant enough to ascend to the top of their respective professional fields.
And according to Dr. Sari Chait, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist working in private practice in Massachusetts, there are actually quite a few "selfish" habits that can signal high intelligence. She tells Parade why these nine often-misunderstood behaviors (from setting boundaries to changing one's opinion to using sarcasm and more) can be tied to both strong IQ and EQ (emotional intelligence), and shares four common kind actions and considerations that are just as indicative of intellect and cleverness. Here's what to know.
Related:Ā 9 Signs Someone Is Emotionally Overstimulated, Not Actually Angry, According to a Psychologist
9 'Selfish' Habits That Signal High Intelligence, According to a PsychologistAs Dr. Chait tells Parade, the below nine habits "may be signs of high intelligence but donāt necessarily mean someone is in fact highly intelligent." That said, every individual is differentāshe adds that "someone with high intelligence may not engage in any of these habits."
Dr. Chait also notes that while the below habits can all potentially signal high intelligence (IQ), many of them can signal high emotional intelligence (EQ), too.
1. Saying no"When people say no to doing things, helping with things, or attending social events, it is often perceived as selfish," Dr. Chait says. However, setting that boundary may actually "indicate that the person is actually very aware of their own time constraints and is smartly protecting their time."
She adds that "being able to judiciously decide what to attend to and what not to takes a great deal of thoughtfulness and planning."
Related: 15 Phrases to Politely Decline an Invite Without Offending the Person
2. Spending time aloneWhen a friend chooses to spend time alone rather than with you, it can feel hurtfulābut according to Dr. Chait, "it may be because they have enough self-awareness to know they need alone time to rest and recharge."
She adds: "Without that alone time, many people become socially burned out and then are not able to show up as their best selves with others, negatively affecting those relationships."
3. Relying on sarcasm or dark humorHumor like witty sarcasm or dark jokes "requires a level of intellect to not only form the joke or comment but to be able to do so quickly in the moment."
However, a mean remark is a mean remark, no matter how clever it may be. "While sarcasm can be perceived as mean or hurtful, someone with high intelligence or EQ will also be able to know when and how to use sarcasm so it adds humor without being hurtful," Dr. Chait says.
Massachusetts-based therapist Sarah Kalny, LMHC agrees, explaining to Parade that proper use of sarcasm often "reflects an individual's capacity to understand subtext."
She notes that sarcasm is similar to problem solving, since "utilizing sarcasm tends to involve the balance of conflicting meanings, understanding what they are conveying or is being conveyed, and can be a bit of a cognitive workout."
4. Delegating tasks to others"The ability and willingness to delegate can be perceived as selfish but actually suggests someone with good awareness of both their own capacity and of othersā capacity," Dr. Chait explains. This behavior often comes up in professional settings, when an employee delegates tasks to others.
AndĀ according to Dr. Chait, as long as someone is delegating intentionally, it can be a good thing for everyone, as it "results in freeing up their own time but can also lead to others feeling included and well-utilized," she says.

5. Having rigid routinesWhen someone rigidly sticks to a certain routine every day, such as a morning routine or bedtime routine, it can come off as extreme or even as an inconvenience to others. However, for routine-lovers, there's often a reason for their inflexibility.
"They may be adhering to [their routine] so rigidly because they know it works for them, decreases the chances that they donāt get things done, and serves their needs in a way that allows them to show up in other spaces or with other people as their best self," says Dr. Chait.
6. Disagreeing with the majorityIn a heated conversation amongst a group, the easiest thing is often to agree with the majority and keep your head downābut in actuality, the person who speaks up and disagrees with the masses may be the smartest person in the room.
"While this can lead to people thinking youāre being difficult or are not getting something they think is obvious, it can instead be a sign of someone who wants to make an informed decision," Dr. Chait says.
7. Changing one's opinionIt can be easy to form an opinion and convince yourself to stick with it forever. Broccoli tastes icky! Staying up late is cool! Jazz sucks!
But according to Dr. Chait, intelligent people are often more open to learning new information and using it to change their opinions.
"This sometimes can come across as selfish if others think you are making things more difficult by changing your mind," she explains, "but the ability to take in new information and readily change your opinion is actually a sign of intelligence."

8. Not responding to messages right awayWhenever a friend "leaves me on read," aka doesn't respond to my text within a few hours, I tend to spiral a bit. But according to Dr. Chait, someone's delay could actually mean they're trying to be thoughtful in their response or stay productive in their work.
"They may set aside time in their day to respond to such messages so they are not regularly interrupting their day or flow to respond," she says. "Taking a few minutes to respond to texts, emails or DMs can distract from other tasks and actually make it harder to complete tasks efficiently."
Related: People Who Avoid Responding to Texts Right Away Often Share These 9 Traits, Psychologists Explain
9. Outsourcing services and choresOne final habit that can come across as self-centered is "spending money on services that other people may do themselves," says Dr. Chait. This may include hiring a housekeeper, getting your car professionally washed, having your nails done or hiring a personal assistant.
"When people are financially able to spend money on these kinds of services, it frees up their time to focus on higher priority or higher value things," she explains.
4 Kind and Considerate Habits That Can Signal High Intelligence, According to a PsychologistIt's not only "selfish" habits that can suggest high intelligence. In fact, Dr. Chait notes that a number of traits associated with kindness and compassion can also indicate high intelligence and high EQāsuch as the four listed below.
1. Including othersAccording to Dr. Chait, people with high intelligence tend to be aware of other people in group settings and purposefully try to loop those who might be feeling left out into the conversation.
"They may notice people on the outskirts of a group at a social setting or in a work environment and will smoothly incorporate them into the larger group interactions," she says.
Related: 13 Surprising Habits That Make You 'Instantly Likable,' Psychologists Say
2. Code-switchingAccording to Dr. Chait, highly intelligent people may excel at "adapting [their] language appropriately for the audience," otherwise known as code-switching.
"Knowing when to use technical language vs. when to use lay people language is an important skill," she explains, "and using it with others allows them to better engage with you."
3. ListeningAs Dr. Chait discussed above, intelligent people often change their opinions after learning new information, which some may see as "selfish" or combative. However, Dr. Chair sees this as something with kind intentions, as it's essentially a version of listening to others and respecting their opinions.
"Being able and willing to listen and learn from others can be a sign of intelligence," she says.
Related: Want to Display Your Active Listening Skills? Try Using These 33 Powerful Phrases
4. Remembering details about othersHow good does it feel when an acquaintance or friend you haven't seen in a while remembers a small detail about you? According to Dr. Chait, this kind trait actually may indicate high intelligence or high EQ.
She explains: "Doing this demonstrates that someone has done a good job listening to others and holds onto personal details which allows them to deepen their relationship and better understand the other person."
Final TakeawaysSometimes, behavior that may seem selfish is actually an indicator of high intelligence.
- Saying no and setting boundaries is a smart way of protecting oneself. If someone sets a boundary with you, it's likely more about their preferences than a reflection of how they feel about you.
- The black sheep is often the smartest one in the group. Whether someone comes off as an outlier because they enjoy ample alone time or because they tend to disagree with the majority, these traits may signal high intelligence.
- Kindness and compassion can indicate intelligence just as much as "selfish" habits. Everyone contains multitudes.

Legendary ā70s Drummer and Member of Iconic Supergroup Turns 77
Some talent goes unnoticed for a musician's entire career. Luckily, one artist from the 1970s came across a rare opportunity that put his name on the map, and he went on to help shape some of the decade's greatest music.
Joe English, the American rock drummer best known for his work with Paul McCartney & Wings and Sea Level, turns 77 on July 2. Born in Rochester, New York, in 1949, English became part of one of the most famous post-Beatles chapters in rock history.
English joined Wings in 1975 after answering an ad for a drummer. The opportunity turned out to be far bigger than he expected, leading him into Paul McCartney's band during one of its most successful eras.
His first album with Wings was Venus and Mars, which was released in 1975 as the follow-up to Band on the Run. English also played with the band on Wings at the Speed of Sound, a 1976 album that arrived while the group was in the middle of a major world tour.
English's time with Wings also gave him a chance to step out from behind the drum kit. On Wings at the Speed of Sound, he took lead vocals on "Must Do Something About It," showing another side of his musicianship while the band gave each member a chance to step forward.
He also performed with Wings during the band's Wings Over the World tour, a major run that helped define the group's live legacy. During that period, English was part of the lineup that brought McCartney's post-Beatles music to huge audiences around the world.
After leaving Wings, English returned to Georgia and became part of Sea Level, the Southern jazz-rock group led by Chuck Leavell. The band grew out of the Allman Brothers Band orbit and blended rock, funk, blues and jazz into a sound that stood apart from many other groups of the era.
In a 1979 interview with Beatlefan, English reflected on the change, saying, "I just had to have a change of musical scene." He also said he enjoyed his time in Wings and learned a lot in the studio, but wanted to return home and see if he could make it as Joe English, not just as someone connected to Paul McCartney.
With Sea Level, English continued building a career that stretched beyond Wings, allowing him to explore various different sides of 1970s rock. He later formed the Joe English Band and moved into Christian rock, releasing music through the 1980s.
Though he eventually stepped away from the music industry, English's career remains tied to a remarkable period in rock history. As he turns 77, his work with Wings, Sea Level and his own band remains a reminder of the lasting impact he made after getting the chance to bring his talent to a bigger stage.

Best-Selling Author's Classic Novel Ranked Among 'Books You Can't Live Without' on Goodreads
Some books fade with time, while others only seem to become more meaningful as new generations find them.
Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends has earned a spot on Goodreads' "Books You Can't Live Without" list, ranking No. 39 out of 1,651 books. The placement highlights the lasting popularity of a poetry collection that has remained a favorite for children, parents, teachers and longtime readers for decades.
Originally published in 1974, Where the Sidewalk Ends brought together Silverstein's poems and drawings in a collection filled with strange characters, playful humor and deeper messages tucked inside simple language. The book introduced readers to a world where imagination could stretch far beyond ordinary rules, turning everyday ideas into something funny, odd and unforgettable.
Silverstein was already known for his wide-ranging creativity before becoming one of the most beloved names in children's literature. Along with writing and illustrating books, he worked as a cartoonist, songwriter, poet and performer. His career included books such as The Giving Tree, A Light in the Attic and Falling Up, but Where the Sidewalk Ends became one of the works most closely tied to his legacy.
Silverstein once explained that his creative life was driven by the need to keep finding something new. In a 1968 interview with Stars & Stripes, he said, "I have to find change in my work all the time to have any satisfaction."
He also said he was drawn to shorter forms, adding that he liked writing children's books and poetry because he could create poems quickly. That approach helps explain the energy behind Where the Sidewalk Ends, a book filled with short, imaginative pieces that still feel alive decades later.
Goodreads describes the book as "outrageously funny and deeply profound," a phrase that helps explain why it has lasted so long. The poems are often silly on the surface, but many of them also capture the way children see the world, mixing curiosity, rebellion, humor and emotion in a way that still feels familiar years later.
That balance has helped Where the Sidewalk Ends remain more than just a childhood favorite. For many readers, the book became an early introduction to poetry that did not feel intimidating or overly serious. Silverstein's style made poems feel playful and accessible, while his drawings gave the collection a personality that was instantly recognizable.
The book's Goodreads ranking also reflects how often readers return to it later in life. With more than 1.5 million ratings on the platform, Where the Sidewalk Ends continues to stand out as one of Silverstein's most widely read and remembered works.
Decades after its release, Where the Sidewalk Ends still holds a rare place in popular culture. It is a book many people first meet as children, but its humor, imagination and emotional pull continue to follow them long after they grow up.
1972 Soul Epic With a Groundbreaking 12-Minute Runtime Named One of the Essential Temptations Songs of All Time
Few vocal groups have shaped popular music like The Temptations. The band's original lead singer and founding member, Paul Williams, was born on July 2, 1939. The music legend passed away in 1973, just a year after one of the band's most ambitious recordings was released. With a runtime of nearly 12 minutes, "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" remains one of the group's most influential achievements.
Blending a lengthy runtime with cinematic storytelling, psychedelic soul, orchestral arrangements, and funk, "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong and produced by Whitfield. The song transformed the Motown legends from hitmakers, known for beloved classics like "My Girl" and "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," into groundbreaking musical storytellers.
A new ranking includes "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" among The Temptations' 20 most essential songs. Here's why:
āThis vivid depiction of a broken home boasted one of the most stunning arrangements in Motown history and one of the most inspired, atmospheric intros of any pop-soul hit. It became their final pop No. 1 and another Grammy Hall of Fame inductee, and can be enjoyed in its full near-12-minute glory on the All Directions album.ā

Why "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" Is One of The Temptations' Essential SongsThe Temptations boast one of the most remarkable catalogs in popular music, and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" stands apart because it combines the group's legendary harmonies with emotionally rich performances and masterful storytelling. The song follows a son trying to uncover the truth about his late father, unfolding like a movie as each verse reveals new details while building emotional tension through sparse vocals and an extended instrumental introduction.
At the time of its release, the song was nothing short of groundbreaking. "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" pushed Motown into bold new creative territory, proving that soul music could be ambitious, cinematic, and commercially successful all at once.
The Temptations' Lasting Influence on Popular MusicThe Temptations' smooth harmonies, polished performances, and innovative storytelling have influenced generations of artists, from Rod Stewart and The Rolling Stones to New Edition and Hall & Oates.
