It’s one of the latest AMC shows set to depart from the streamer. What’s on Netflix notes that this show could end up staying if Netflix and AMC make a deal, but so far, most shows have left the giant.

All three seasons of A Discovery of Witches are set to depart on Aug. 19, 2026. That means Aug. 18 is the last day to watch, and it’s the same day as all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead, so you’ll want to binge-watch a lot while you still have time.

A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy of books by Deborah Harkness. It follows the story of Diana Bishop, a reluctant witch with ties to the Salem Witch Trials. For years, she has avoided using her powers, but when she is able to get a book that has been missing to Witches, Demons, and Vampires for centuries, she ends up becoming a target.

One Vampire who would love to get his hands on the book is Matthew Clairemont, who is trying to figure out why his species is dying. He wants it to save his own, but others out there want it to destroy the other magical creatures in the world. Now, he needs to protect Diana from these threats coming toward her.

There is a small problem. Her blood makes him want her, and there is something else deep within that makes him need to protect her. However, the rules are that Witches and Vampires can’t be together.

Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode starred as Diana and Matthew. The cast also included Edward Bluemel, Steven Cree, Alex Kingston, and Owen Teale. During the second season, time travel is involved, as Diana and Matthew head back to the Elizabethan period before returning to the present day in Season 3.

The Shudder series is still available on AMC+, as well as other AMC Network platforms. The non-exclusive deal with Netflix was to help a number of AMC Network shows gain new followers — and new subscribers on the main platform. There is time for Netflix to strike up another deal, but AMC will want to take its content back. At least if you don’t get through all of A Discovery of Witches before it leaves Netflix, you can watch it on AMC+.

It is based on the book series. Each season followed each book, but there are creative liberties taken with each of the seasons, which have gained positive and negative comments from readers.

Fans of Oliver Anthony have a new release to look forward to this month. The independent country-folk singer-songwriter announced that new music will arrive on July 21, sharing the news while celebrating his 34th birthday.

Anthony revealed the update in a video posted on Instagram. Alongside the clip, he wrote, "It’s been a good birthday. New Music coming July 21st. Doing Lemonade Days in Bluefield August 29th. Farmville at Longwood August 30th. Life is good."

The announcement marks Anthony's latest return to music after spending much of the past year away from social media and releasing only a small amount of new material.

In the birthday video, Anthony thanked fans for their continued support and reflected on reaching another year.

"I have new music coming out on July 21st. I love you all. I really appreciate you."

While he confirmed the release date, Anthony did not say whether the project will be a single song, several tracks or a full album.

During the video, Anthony also spoke about other recent developments in his life. He told followers that he recently bought a church in West Virginia. Although the building still needs work, he said he hopes to hold a church service there in October.

Anthony also confirmed two live performances scheduled for the end of August. He is set to appear at Lemonade Days in Bluefield, West Virginia, on Aug. 29, followed by a show in Farmville at Longwood on Aug. 30.

The new music announcement comes after a quieter period for the Virginia native. He stepped away from social media for several months before returning in May, when he shared a message discussing algorithms, artificial intelligence and politics. He also reduced his live performances before gradually returning to the stage.

His upcoming July release will be his first new original music since 2025, when he released the songs "Only God Can Save Us Now" and "Scornful Woman." Before that, he had also shared a handful of live cover performances during 2026.

Anthony's name became known around the world in 2023 after "Rich Men North of Richmond" went viral online.

The acoustic performance, filmed outdoors in rural Virginia, quickly spread across social media before the song became available on streaming platforms. The independent release later debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Anthony the first artist ever to enter the chart at the top without any prior chart history.

Rather than signing with a major record label after his breakthrough, Anthony chose to remain independent. He has repeatedly said he prefers to move at his own pace instead of chasing mainstream fame.

That approach continued after the release of his debut album, Hymnal of a Troubled Man's Mind, in March 2024. Since then, Anthony has focused on releasing music on his own terms while limiting his public appearances.

The success of "Rich Men North of Richmond" has also allowed him to continue recording without changing the way he makes music. More than two years after the song's breakout success, it has accumulated more than 300 million streams, showing that interest in his work has continued beyond its viral moment.

Anthony, whose real name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, adopted the stage name "Oliver Anthony" as a tribute to his grandfather. Before becoming a full-time musician, he worked industrial jobs in Virginia and North Carolina and began writing songs in 2021.

Now, as he celebrates his 34th birthday, Anthony is preparing to begin his next chapter.

Willie Nelson had already cemented his place as one of country music's biggest stars by the summer of 1980. But on July 3 of that year, the outlaw country legend took a chance that would expand his legacy far beyond the recording studio.

That's when Honeysuckle Rose made its world premiere in Austin, Texas.

The film starred Nelson, 93, as Buck Bonham, a hard-touring country singer trying to balance life on the road with his responsibilities to his wife and son. As Bonham's career begins gaining national attention, temptation enters the picture when the daughter of his former guitarist joins the tour, forcing him to confront the cost of fame and the choices that come with it.

For fans, the role felt strikingly authentic.

While Honeysuckle Rose wasn't a biopic, the story echoed many aspects of Nelson's own life as a constantly touring musician, making his performance feel natural and believable. Critics praised the singer's easygoing screen presence, and audiences embraced seeing the country icon portray a character who seemed only a few steps removed from the man they already knew.

The movie also introduced what would become one of the defining songs of Nelson's career.

Written for the film, "On the Road Again" perfectly captured the spirit of a musician whose life revolved around touring. The song became an instant hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, earning Nelson a Grammy Award for Best Country Song and later becoming one of the most recognizable recordings in country music history.

Although Nelson had appeared in smaller acting roles before, Honeysuckle Rose marked the project that firmly established him as a legitimate Hollywood leading man.

The success of the film opened the door to a string of acting roles throughout the 1980s, including appearances in Barbarosa, Songwriter, Red Headed Stranger and, perhaps most famously, The Dukes of Hazzard and Stagecoach in later years.

More than four decades after its release, Honeysuckle Rose remains a favorite among Nelson's fans, not just because of its heartfelt story, but because it captured the easy charm, humor and authenticity that made him one of country music's most enduring stars.

For many fans, the film's greatest legacy may be the song it gave the world.

Before he was able to add his real surname, Mellencamp, to his stage moniker, John Mellencamp was known as John Cougar — a name that appeared on his breakthrough album, American Fool, which included the Top 10 hit “Hurt So Good” and the Top 20 hit “Hand to Hold on To.”

But the only song from that album to go No. 1 was a “little diddy” known as “Jack & Diane.” The song soared to the top of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart in the fall after its release, and stayed there for four weeks. 

Released on July 24, 1982, “Jack & Diane” remains a beloved fan-favorite today. But it may come as a surprise to some folks that Mellencamp wasn’t too fond of the song that lends itself as a perfect addition to playlists for long drives on the road.  

“I always detested that song until the last couple three years,” the Indiana-raised Mellencamp admitted during a Zoom conversation with Forbes in 2022. “I watched a football game this past weekend, and 80,000 people were singing that song at halftime. Can you imagine? I thought, ‘S**t.’ I said, ‘How do all these f**king people know this song?’"

Further fueling his dissatisfaction over the song, according to Ultimate Classic Rock, Mellencamp found the tune difficult to record.

“‘Jack & Diane’ was a terrible record to make,” Mellencamp once said, per the outlet. “When I play it on guitar by myself, it sounds great, but I could never get the band to play along with me. That’s why the arrangement’s so weird. Stopping and starting, it’s not very musical.” 

As the song’s sole writer, Mellencamp said he initially wrote “Jack & Diane” as a story touching on the complexities of interracial relationships he had noticed while touring, according to UCR. However, at the suggestion of his record label, he ultimately shifted his focus toward a teenage love story. 

In its finalization, the song went on to become a tune about teenage love in America’s heartland with Mellencamp drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Seymour, Ind. 

The lyrics depict the story of two high schoolers — a football star “Jack” and his love interest “Diane” — enjoying time together getting chili dogs, stopping at a Tastee-Freez, and namechecking James Dean. The hook focuses on living life to the fullest before moving on after “the thrill of livin’ is gone.”

While not necessarily his personal favorite song in his catalog, “Jack & Diane” stands as Mellencamp’s most successful hit, marking his only No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Peter Hook is well-known for being a co-founder of both Joy Division and its successor group, New Order, two legendary post-punk bands who played a major part in music history. But Hook doesn't appear to have many good feelings left when it comes to his former New Order bandmates, Gillian Gilbert, Bernard Sumner, and Stephen Morris.

The talented bassist took a strong stance when he was asked about the possibility of ever reuniting with his former bandmates in a recent conversation with Mojo magazine. The question came up while talking about Joy Division and New Order's joint induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame coming up in November 2026.

"The answer is, no, I will never play with them again. I’d rather die than play with them three," Hook declared before opening up a bit about why he felt this way. "What they did to me and my family when they took the name, it was terrible."

He went on, "You have to have morals in this world, and if I let my morals slip, I don’t think people will think better of me... I lived a lie for so long to maintain the status quo… it saps your soul.”

As for his opinions on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor, Hook was much more excited. He said, "Is it deserved? Without a shadow of a doubt!... Joy Division has been the bedrock of everything we've ever done, and to rise phoenix-like from the ashes to what we achieved as New Order... those 10 years from 1980 to 1990 were absolutely golden."

"It's a hell of a discography, and I still have great belief in the music," he concluded.

Despite the feud between Hook and his fellow New Order founding members, he will be in attendance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Nov. 14. But as he has made clear, he will not be performing on stage with the others.

Hook played bass for New Order until 2007. The band had gone through several break-ups and reformations by then. In 2011, New Order reformed without Hook for the first time, in part leading to the feud and a long legal battle.

After New Order, Hook has had many different music projects, including Ad Infinitum, Revenge, and Peter Hook & the Light.
