'Today' Co-host Jenna Bush Hager Breaks Down in Tears Over Daughter Poppy
Jenna Bush Hager broke down in tears on Today over her daughter, Poppy, while chatting with her co-host, Sheinelle Jones.
On Thursday, April 30, the former first daughter and mom of three unexpectedly became emotional during the NBC morning show, as seen in a clip posted by the Jenna & SheinelleInstagram account.
Bush Hager explained that she has been extra busy lately filming the pilot for her hopeful NBC drama series, Protection, among other major projects.
âI've been working a lot because this has been shooting, and I've had these big interviews and all the book stuff," she shared. "And so this morning when I woke up, I thought, âOK, the next couple weeks, the next couple months, it's, like, kid-focused.'"
Bush Hager continued, âI'm like, âHow can I show up for Poppy in a wayâŠ.'" before becoming visibly emotional. âNow I'm crying. I don't know what's wrong with me. It's because I haven't been able toâŠâÂ

After reaching over to hug her co-host, Jones said, "It's one of those things where we can't do it all at the same time.â She then pointed out, "And also, you just had a whole mommy and me thing, and it was amazing."
"Yeah, but that wasn't with Poppy," Bush Hager said, to which Jones reassured her, "But she's coming."
"Should I lay?â Bush Hager asked, as she pretended to lie down on the table as if she were at a therapy session. That's when Sheinelle acknowledged, âYou guys, we just had a moment collectively, but it's OK. We can't do it all at once.â
To that, Bush Hager then quipped, âIt may look like things are great, but things are falling apart.â
In addition to Poppy, 10, she shares a daughter, Mila, 13, and a son, Hal, 6, with her husband, Henry Hager. Meanwhile, Jones has a son, Kayin, 16, and twins, Clara and Uche Jr., 13, whom she welcomed with her late husband, Uche Ojeh.

Thanks to astrology, tarot, and numerology, thereâs a message for May 2026 that aligns with your birth month. Read on to find your message.
Hereâs Your May 2026 Message, Based on Your Birth MonthCheck for the month you were born for pro insights.
JanuaryStop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, January. Having a January birthday means being influenced by Capricorn and Aquarius, which are the two Saturn-ruled zodiac signs. The Saturnian edge of your birth month speaks to being resilient, responsible, and hardworking. You are held to a higher standard of excellence. While you should continue working hard at your goals, your spiritual message for May says to focus on what you can manage. Donât feel like you have to do everything all at once or that itâs up to you to fix other peopleâs problems. Take it one day at a time and prioritize your goals above all else.Â
FebruaryPerspective is everything, February. You already know how important it is to remain open-minded, thanks to being co-ruled by esoteric Aquarius and fantastical Pisces. The cosmic energy of your birth month speaks to thinking outside of the box, as youâre gifted with the talent of visualization. The universe wants you to tap into your empathy and dreaminess throughout May. Instead of letting logic and rationale rule the roost, the universe says, let your imagination lead the way. You may feel a little delusional at times, but letting your mind wander could lead to a new perspective you hadnât considered beforehand.Â

MarchDonât be so defensive, March. The past few months have left you feeling extra spicy. Your usually gentle Piscean energy has been bruised, leaving your Aries energy short-tempered and brash. Itâs not your faultâthe astrology of 2026 has been especially hard for all March birthdays. Luckily, your spirit team says that May will be easier if you must lower your defenses. This isnât a sign to lower your standards or boundaries; however, your message for May encourages you to accept a helping hand. You donât have to continue fighting alone if youâre willing to let your loved oneâs step in and alleviate some of your tension.Â
AprilThis or that, April? Usually, you know what you want thanks to your assertive Aries attitude and resolute Taurus stamina. Making decisions and choosing a course of action comes rather easily to you. Although you may know what you want, the spiritual energy of May cautions you to weigh your options more carefully than you typically would. It might feel odd to move slowly, but doing so will allow you to move intentionally. Waiting to see what each avenue, venture, or option offers you will give you a better idea of what you want to do. The key is being patient while considering all options. Â
MayHappy birthday, May! Whether youâre a lovely Taurus or curious Gemini, you have so much to look forward to this month aside from celebrating your birthday. Your spirit team says itâs time to move it or lose it. Instead of feeling unsure and scatterbrained, you will feel uniquely confident in your next steps. Your mind will be clear, allowing you to see where a venture may lead or what a decision will entail. Normally, this much foresight comes with anxiety, but not this month. Your self-assurance will bloom when youâre courageous and brave. Donât think twice if thereâs something you wish to do, pursue, or become.Â

JuneWhat will you have to celebrate, June? You take celebrating seriously thanks to being co-ruled by social Gemini and caring Cancer. It doesnât matter if youâre honoring a friend, family member, or a near stranger. Uplifting others fills you with joy. Your spirit team wants you to know there will be much to celebrate in the weeks ahead. In particular, a small group of close-knit friends or a long-time bestie will want to share good news with you. Likewise, donât hesitate to share your wins with your inner circle. Even if nothing is on your social calendar yet, trust that there will be ample opportunities for merriment all month long.Â
JulyAway you go, July. The universe encourages you to start thinking about your next big adventure. On the one hand, your Cancerian nature may implore you to stay home and play it safe, but on the other hand, your spirited Leo attitude desires passion and excitement. May isnât the time to be overly conservative with your whims, resources, and energy. Youâre asked to dream bigger about where you want to go, not only this month, but for the rest of the year. This is the perfect time to plan an international trip, long-term vacation, or even look into visas elsewhere. The world is your oyster.
AugustThis too shall pass, August. Like everyone else born in August, you carry the tender-hearted Leo spirit and anxious Virgo mentality with you. The last few months may have tested your kindness, patience, and overall bandwidth. You could have gone through significant setbacks and losses during this time. Although the pain of heartbreak and disappointment lingers, your spirit team wants you to know that things will begin looking up starting this month. You may not believe this cautiously optimistic message right now, but trust that you will be in a better mental and emotional state by the end of May.

SeptemberA new lease on life awaits, September. The first part of this year has pushed you to your limits. Your careful Virgo foresight has helped you plan accordingly, while your diplomatic Libra attitude has kept the peace. Managing yourself and everything else hasnât been easy, but the fruits of your labor will pay off starting this month. Your spirit team says that May will produce real, tangible blessings. For some September babies, this might result in a new job or financial opportunity. For other September babies, there will be security and stability to look forward to. Regardless of what may unfold, you can trust that youâll be rewarded for your hard work.Â
OctoberHonor your mental and emotional needs, October. Although youâre guided by balanced Libra, youâre also still predisposed to the emotional intensity of Scorpio. Working with Novemberâs two star signs isnât easy, since you may appear outwardly fine in an effort to hide your true feelings. You may feel more comfortable pretending like youâre okay, but the universe says Mayâs a month of healing and vulnerability. If you want to regain true mental and emotional balance, you may have to be more upfront about whatâs bothering you. Opening up about your anxieties and pains can be scary, but it can also accelerate your healing journey.
NovemberAn opportunity will come knocking, November. Answering the call might be equally scary and exciting. The Scorpio within you might be a bit suspicious, but the Sagittarius within you is ready for something new. Donât overthink when this opportunity presents itself, because the universe is conspiring in your favor. Some November-born might have a chance to pursue love and romance, while other November-born ought to follow their creative spark. Youâll know whatâs meant for you, since your intuition and discernment will be loud and clear when it arrives. Even if youâre trepidatious, you should still pursue the opportunity in good faith that it will bring joy and happiness.Â

DecemberGet out of your head, December. Despite having jovial Sagittarius within you, your serious Capricorn has taken the lead. Seeing all that could come is challenging if the first few months of 2026 have left you high and dry. Your mental health and sleep schedule could have been seriously affected. Spirit wants you to know that thereâs a chance to move past these mental and emotional blockages this May. However, your ability to heal depends on how you can alchemize your fears, insecurities, and worries. Spirit says to find solace in journaling and dedicating time to a non-work-related hobby. Trust that better days are ahead when you find a healthy outlet for your stress.Â

9 Phrases To Shut Down a Micromanaging Boss, According to an HR Expert
Given the state of the world and job market, you may feel guilty for complaining about your bossâat least you have a boss (and job, for that matter) in this economy. Yet one HR expert says you need not feel guilty about detesting micromanagement in the workplace.
"Dealing with a micromanaging boss is disempowering," says Shawnee Irmen-De Anda, the chief people officer at Thriveworks, a mental health company offering in-person and online therapy services nationwide. "It can make you question your abilities, your managerâs trust in you and also slow you down from doing an effective job. All of these can start to weigh on you and impact your mental health."
Irmen-De Anda has almost two decades of experience in human resources and talent acquisition. She's seen the harms of workplace micromanagement firsthand and says it's vital to know how to handle it.
"It is important to address the issues of micromanaging early, before the behavior becomes too ingrained in your work style," she states.
Of course, she knows it's easier said than done.
"Addressing it can be nerve-wracking, especially if it is causing you to feel like your manager does not have trust in you, but itâs important to do so early and candidly in order to create a more harmonious work environment and dynamic," she shares.
Having some go-to phrases to shut down a micromanaging boss (respectfully) can help you preserve your passion for your work. To help, Irmen-De Anda shares nine things to say to stop micromanagement in its tracks at work.
Related: 12 Phrases That Make You Instantly More AssertiveâWithout Sounding Rude, Psychologists Say
What Is Micromanagement?"Micromanagement is when a manager is involved at a very detailed level in every area of your duties," Irmen-De Anda tells Parade.
Micromanagement may look different depending on the boss. For instance, your direct manager may require you to send any and all emails to them for approval before putting them out into the world. They may want complete access to your calendar and inbox or remain overly involved in the "minutiae of your day-to-day."
It can leave you feeling like you lack agency and your boss's trust, resulting in frustration, poor job satisfaction and basement-level self-confidence.

5 Common Signs of a Micromanaging BossWhen you know the signs of a micromanaging boss, you can take steps to rectify the issue (or flag it in job interviews and potentially turn down an offer). Irmen-De Anda's top five signs of a micromanaging boss are:
- Tracking every movement of yours. Every step you take toward completing a task and every mistake you make are tracked and noted. "This signals a lack of trust and can make you feel like you are under surveillance," Irmen-De Anda notes.
- They direct exactly how your work should be done. Expectations and instruction are to be expected in a manager-employee relationship, but it can veer into "too-much" territory with a micromanaging boss. "Over-directing exactly how something should be done demonstrates their need for control," the HR expert says.
- They require approval for every decisionyou need to make. The rules don't change even if the decision is small. "Unless there's a good reason for thisâlike a strict budget processâthis takes any decision-making autonomy away from you and is a way of asserting their authority," she reports.
- They require very frequent check-ins. Irmen-De Anda isn't bemoaning weekly one-on-ones or daily huddles, especially during peak seasons. "Checking in with your manager can be healthy, but too often can be a sign that they need to control your progress rather than trusting your outcomes," she clarifies.
- They are highly critical. This one can feel the most toxic of all. "Micromanaging often goes hand-in-hand with perfectionism," Irmen-De Anda reveals. "While constructive feedback can be useful, an overly critical manager can lead you to lose trust in your abilities."Â

How To Deal With a Micromanaging BossUnsplash
Dealing with a micromanaging boss requires delicacy, curiosity and pre-emptive empathy and compassion.
"Give your boss the benefit of the doubt that they donât understand that what they are doing is micromanaging," Irmen-De Anda advises. "They may be an inexperienced manager and feel they need to be very involved in every detail in order for them to do a good job, or they may have learned that behavior from a boss of theirs."
Still, you'll want to address the issue early, because the HR expert warns that a micromanaging boss can erode your self-confidence later.
"Have a candid conversation pointing to the specific behaviors and the impact that they are having on you," she says. "Try to get to the root cause of their behavior."
For instance, she notes that they might tell you they are under a lot of pressure from the powers that be to close the deal you are working on, or that a poor performer botched a presentation in the past. From there, Irmen-De Anda suggests being transparent about how their behavior affects you. The goal isn't to seek verbal revenge but to come to a place of mutual understanding and agreement.

If your boss seems willing to work with you, she shares that you can address their fears and work together to find solutions that alleviate their concerns, without overstepping into your lane at work.
But manage expectations; progress isn't guaranteed or linear.
"Unfortunately, for some micromanagers, the behavior is deeply entrenched, and it can be hard to change," she explains. "Depending on your relationship, you may be able to gently call out when these behaviors are creeping back in. If they are not receptive to change, however, you may need to address your own level of response and acceptance."
She says your HR team may be able to guide you on how to handle a micromanaging boss.Â
"If none of these actions result in behavior change and you feel it is negatively impacting your mental health or confidence in your abilities, that may be the time to consider a job change," she adds.

9 Phrases To Shut Down a Micromanaging Boss, According to an HR Expert 1. âI tend to do my best work with clear ownershipâYou crave clarity and autonomyâtwo things many workplaces value. Yours might too, but your boss may need a heads up that you prefer little (to no) hand-holding.
"This phrase puts the focus on performance and offers autonomy as a solution for the best results," Irmen-De Anda says.Â
2. âI can tell this role and the work I do are important to you. How can I make you feel comfortable in stepping back?âYou and your boss are likely working toward the same goals. That means you're on the same team. That said, when they're constantly up in your business and not giving you any independence, they can feel more like an obstacle than a guidepost. These lines bring the focus back to the "team" aspect of office life.
"This is a collaborative way of finding a solution, without focusing too much on the problem," Irmen-De Anda states.

3. âI can lead this and will update you once the job is done"It takes a certain amount of gumption to use this phrase on a micromanaging boss, but the payoff is huge if it works.
"This clearly asserts your confidence in your ability to run the project," Irmen-De Anda notes. "Adding that you will provide an update at the end of the job gives them a clear deliverable."
It also reminds your boss that you don't plan on leaving them out of the loop. Â
4. "Iâm noticing a bottleneck. I think it would be more effective if I provide X rather than Y"Irmen-De Anda says you may fill in the blanks by saying, "I think it would be more effective if I provide a weekly update rather than daily.âÂ
"Managers care about efficiency, and this phrase places the focus on an opportunity for improvement rather than a frustration," she explains.

5. âI can run with this and will keep you ccâd for visibility"This phrase is a great way to assert autonomy gently while alleviating a micromanaging boss's fears of the unknown.
"Managers often equate visibility with control," Irmen-De Anda says. "This gives a micromanager the feeling of control they desire without a need for constant oversight."Â
6. "To move faster, it would help if I could make the decisions at this level"Red tape can hold back projects and teams. This phrase seeks to cut it outâand shut down a micromanaging boss by emphasizing how they could benefit from moving out of the way.
"This highlights an inefficiency and provides a solution without specifically calling out their behavior, making them more likely to ease off," Irmen-De Anda notes.
7. âI want to make sure weâre aligned on expectations"Irmen-De Anda suggests immediately following this phrase with a question: "Are there any concerns about how Iâm handling this?â
Does it put you in a vulnerable position or open you up to constructive criticism? Yes, but it also gets to the root cause and can lead to solutions beyond micromanagement.
"It gets at the heart of the matter without being combative and will help you both get on the same page," she says.
8. âCan I suggest some tools that will provide oversight of my progress without such frequent check-ins?âPlatformsâlike project management systems and shared to-do listsâcan ensure your micromanaging boss can keep an eye on project status without constantly bugging (and delaying) you. Irmen-De Anda loves that it focuses on a fix rather than the problem (and your boss may admire it too).
"It provides a solution that directly addresses their need for oversight," she says.

9. "Can we align on the outcome, and Iâll take it from there?"Talk about diplomacy and subtle self-advocacy.
"Being outcomes-oriented moves the focus off the process and onto the end result," Irmen-De Anda explains. "Having an agreement on that end result should minimize the micromanaging to get there."Â

Final TakeawaysMicromanagement in the workplace can erode self-confidence and lead to frustration. Irmen-De Anda, an HR expert, suggests addressing it head-on.
- Notice the signs of micromanagement. Constant criticism and over-involvement in your daily tasks (like requiring approval for every email you send) are among the signs of a micromanaging boss.
- Lead with the benefit of the doubt. Remember, your boss may be inexperienced or under pressure. They may not mean to micromanage you.
- Tell them how their micromanagement affects you. For instance, you might use phrases that mention the bottleneck their need for check-ins causes or that you work better when you have clear ownership of a project.
- Focus on solutions. Think tools that let you update your boss on your status and negate the need for regular check-ins.

âBrady Bunchâ Star Christopher Knight Reveals Rare Cast Bond That Still Lasts 58 Years Later â âFamilyâ
Christopher Knight opened up about his close bond with his Brady Bunch co-stars nearly 60 years after they first met as child actors. Knight, who played middle son Peter Brady on the ABCsitcom from 1969 to 1974, told People magazine that he considers his former castmates âfamilyâ even today.
"I mean, we were a big cast, that very much even today, acts like family,â Knight, 68, shared. âIt was a special group of people. For the six of us who were still on this planet, um, weâre lifelong friends. I don't know, other than my own brothers and sisters and my own blood, there's nobody, whom I'm friends with that is from a deeper [moment], in time.â
âIt's going on 60 years now, right?â the actor added of The Brady Bunchâs 1969 premiere. âAnd it actually exists a year earlier now because we did the pilot in '68. It's hard to believe it's been that long ago.â
Knight co-starred with Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen on the beloved sitcom about a blended family, and he still keeps in touch with all of them. Fellow Brady Bunch stars Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, and Ann B. Davis have since passed away.

Other Brady Bunch stars have talked about being âfamilyâKnight isnât the only Brady Bunch cast member who cherishes the feeling of family shared with their co-stars. In an interview with Digital Journal, McCormick, who played eldest sister Marcia Brady, said she âdearly loved everyone connected withâ the showâincluding those behind the scenes.
âI feel like it was one of those times when everything comes together, and it was just a magical connection,â the actress shared. âWe had fun and everybody, including the crew, are in my heart forever.â
The Brady Bunch didnât end with the â70s sitcom. The cast members went on to work together on a variety show, two TV movies, and multiple spinoffs. Most recently, they reunited for the HGTV home renovation series A Very Brady Renovation.
During an appearance on The Magificent Others podcast, Olsen, who played youngest child Cindy Brady, said the castâs bond canât really be explained to outsiders.
âI think anytime that they get us together and let us be ourselves, like the HGTV show, it's always good because we have, it's the most unusual relationship,â Olsen, 64, shared on the 2025 podcast. âAnd then for us kids, we did grow up together. We all know that there's only five other people on the planet that will ever really know what our childhoods were like. And if one of us were to die, we would all lose a limb.â
The One Disney Attraction Built 37 Years Ago Today That Everyone Still Wishes They Could Ride One Last Time
If you walk into the heart of Disneyâs Hollywood Studios today, youâll see the stunning neon glow of the Chinese Theatre, but for a certain generation of travelers, the building feels like a beautiful shell.
On this day in 1989, The Great Movie Ride officially opened its doors, promising to take us "into the movies." While itâs been closed since 2017 to make way for Mickey & Minnieâs Runaway Railway, the nostalgia for this specific journey hasn't fadedâit has only deepened.
For many, it wasn't just a ride; it was an education. As one user on Reddit poignantly shared: "I wouldn't have bothered with Alien or Casablanca at a young age if it wasn't for that ride... those rides might seem dated these days... But they're so charming, and nostalgic, and magical, taking the fictional and making it real."

View this post on InstagramThe attraction mastered the art of the 'total environment.' It didn't just show you the movies; it made you smell the smoke of a Nostromo vent and feel the weight of an orchestral score. And it was one of the last bastions of the "live guide" era, where a Cast Member would literally step off the vehicle to engage in a shootout with gangsters or cowboys. That human touch made the experience feel alive in a way that modern, screen-based attractions often struggle to replicate.
Writing for Theme Park Insider, Robert Niles captured the feeling of many fans who couldn't make it back for a final farewell: "So here's what I miss most from The Great Movie Ride, a too-rare quality that GMR exemplified wellâit gave its cast members an active role to play."

"As I always sayâGreat is right there in the title. We arrive in Orlando on 22nd August, it's killing me to miss having one last go. It's one of our family's favourites and was a must do for us," commented Kelly Muggleton.
Even though the park has transitioned from a working film studio into a place where you "live" your own adventure in Star Wars or Toy Story, thereâs a distinct "Hollywood" identity that left with those rides. Built 37 years ago today, The Great Movie Ride proved that sometimes, the best way to travel isn't to a new planetâitâs just a few feet into the silver screen.

National Anthem Singer's Technical Issue Leads to Cool Moment During NHL Game
A microphone failure before a major NHL playoff game unexpectedly created one of the most heartwarming sports moments of the week after Buffalo Sabres fans joined together to help singer Cami Clune finish âO Canadaâ during Game 5 against the Boston Bruins.
The emotional scene took place at KeyBank Center on Thursday, before the first-round Stanley Cup Playoff matchup between the Buffalo Sabres and the Bruins.
Just seconds into Cluneâs performance of the Canadian national anthem, her microphone repeatedly cut out. Instead of awkward silence filling the arena, thousands of fans instantly stepped in and sang the anthem with her.

The moment quickly spread online after TNT Sports US shared video clips of the crowd singing along to the song while Clune smiled through the technical problems. Fans online praised the Buffalo crowd for turning what could have been an embarrassing situation into a powerful show of unity.
Clune later responded to the viral clip herself, writing, âThatâs me singing!đ„čBuffalo had my back, GO SABRESđđ â
View this post on InstagramShe also shared her gratitude on Instagram, posting, âWhat a crazy but cool moment!! Thank you all for singing along,â before adding, âWe have the best fans ever!â
The Sabres have long played âO Canadaâ before home games because Buffalo sits close to the Canadian border and has strong ties to nearby Ontario. Even when a visiting NHL team is not from Canada, the anthem remains part of the teamâs game-night tradition.
That tradition made the crowd's response even more meaningful. Most of the nearly 19,000 fans inside the arena were American, but they confidently sang the Canadian anthem from start to finish while Cluneâs microphone faded in and out.
The unexpected singalong became one of the most talked-about moments from the NHL playoffs this week. Clips shared by the Sabres, Clune, and NHL-related accounts collected hundreds of thousands of views across social media platforms.
Fans from both the United States and Canada flooded comment sections with emotional reactions.Â
One user wrote, âI guess there is still some faith left in society after all. Love to see it.â
Another added, âBuffalo to the rescue! đŻâ€ïžâ
A third comment praised the atmosphere inside the arena, saying, âAbsolutely incredible. Buffalo loaded with real ones. Respect!!! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ
Others joked that the cityâs reputation received a boost from the moment, with one fan writing, âBuffalo just gained some aura đđâ
Another reaction read, âPure class Buffalo!!! Well done đđđâ
One viewer also pointed out how unusual the scene was in an all-American matchup, posting, âNever seen the Canadian anthem sung at a USA vs USA game. Love it!!â
Who Is Cami Clune?ÂClune is no stranger to performing in front of large audiences. The Buffalo native rose to national attention during Season 19 of The Voicein 2020. During her blind audition, she earned a rare four-chair turn and a coach block, making her one of the standout contestants that season.
She originally chose John Legend as her coach before eventually joining Kelly Clarksonâs team after Clarkson used her steal during the knockout round. Clune later advanced to the semifinals.
Outside television, Clune has become a familiar voice in Buffalo sports. She serves as the official anthem singer for the Sabres and has also performed at Buffalo Bills games, NASCAR events and other major sporting events.
Tuesdayâs emotional anthem moment happened before a tense playoff game that ended in disappointment for Buffalo fans. The Bruins defeated the Sabres 2-1 in overtime to stay alive in the series.
Defenseman Rasmus Dahlin scored early for Buffalo before Elias Lindholm tied the game in the second period. David Pastrnak later scored the overtime winner.
Even with the loss, the Sabres still lead the playoff series 3-2 as they continue trying to win their first playoff series in nearly two decades.
For many fans, though, the loudest moment of the night happened before the puck ever dropped.

How To Book The First Cruises To Sandy Cay, MSCâs Newest Luxury Escape
For travelers who've already mastered the art of the Caribbean getaway, MSC Cruises just dropped a major reason to look ahead to 2028. The line officially opened bookings for its Summer 2028 season today, revealing a massive six-ship deployment centered around a game-changing "double" private island experience in The Bahamas.
The headliner for the season is the debut of Sandy Cay, a brand-new luxury private island retreat located just off the coast of the existing Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. While Ocean Cay has become a fan favorite for its marine conservation focus and pristine beaches, Sandy Cay is designed to be its more intimate, elevated sibling. Guests sailing in the summer of 2028 will be among the very first to step onto its aragonite sandsâwhich the line describes as some of the "purest and brightest in the world."

View this post on Instagram A New Dimension of Island LifeMore than just a beach expansion, Sandy Cay is a strategic move to offer two distinct flavors of Bahamian paradise in one trip. "Weâre always looking for opportunities to give our guests new ways to experience MSC Cruisesâ mix of European style and American comfort," says Lynn Torrent, President of MSC Cruises North America. "Guests can look forward to the new experiences weâre building in key destinations like Ocean Cay and Sandy Cay... aimed at ensuring they have the best beach days possible."
While Sandy Cay focuses on serenity and seclusion, the original Ocean Cay is undergoing its own transformation. By the time the 2028 season kicks off, visitors will find new dining venues, an expanded family lagoon and a dedicated adults-only beach area. These upgrades are part of a broader plan to allow two ships to dock simultaneously, doubling the capacity for those coveted overnight stays under the Bahamian stars.

Whether youâre looking for a quick three-night "no-stress" getaway from Miami on MSC Seaside or a seven-night Western Caribbean trek from Galveston on MSC Seascape, the 2028 season is built around accessibility. From the luxury of the MSC Yacht Club to the excitement of the newest ships, the line is clearly aiming to be the "everything app" of the cruise worldâwhere every coordinate, including the new Sandy Cay, is designed for discovery.

1966 One-Hit Wonder Became a Garage Rock Classicâ âDestinedâ To Be a Hit
In 1966, the rock band Question Mark & the Mysterians had their first and only chart-topping hit with â96 Tears.â The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Oct. 29, 1966, and remained on the music chart for 15 weeks.
Rolling Stone ranked the â96 Tearsâ one of the Top 10 One-Hit Wonders of all Time, noting that it was one of the most âmemorableâ songs of the â60s garage rock era. âOriginally titled â69 Tears,â the Michigan-based band recorded the song in their managerâs living room in 1966, and it hit Number One in October of that year,â the outlet noted.
Destined to be a hitKnown for its distinctive keyboard riff and âtoo many teardrops" chorus, â96 Tearsâ is credited to singer-songwriter Question Mark (Rudy Martinez), who recorded it with bandmates Frank Rodriguez (keyboards), Bobby Balderrama (guitar), Frank Lugo (bass), and Eddie Serrato (drums). Â In an interview with Vice, Balderrama recalled a group brainstorming session.
âOne day, Frank started playing a little organ riff, and we really liked it a lot,â he said. âI kinda came up with the chord riff, and every time we practiced, we recorded everything. At first it didnât have words. Then Question Mark said he had words for it, but I thought he was just singing off the top of his head. I thought he was just improvising.â
The band recorded the song originally for the Texas-based label Pa-Go-Go Records and began to hand-distribute it to radio stations. Before long, listeners began requesting the song, and it blew up.

According to Goldmine, amid the success of â96 Tears," the band was signed by Cameo-Parkway Records president Neil Bogart.
Rodgriguez was surprised by the songâs No. 1 status. âI didnât think the song â96 Tearsâ was gonna go anywhere, but it did real good,â he shared, before explaining his organ work. âA lot of people think my keyboard parts were done on a Farfisa or Vox Continental. But, actually, I recorded the song on a Hammond A1 organ, without the rotating Leslie speaker engaged.â

In an interview with Best Classic Bands, songwriter Question Mark said he always believed in the song, even when a TV rock band got in the way.
âI believe it was September 3 when it went nationwide. It debuted at 75. October 29, 1966, it went to number one,â he recalled of his lone No. 1 hit. âThe Monkees had come out with their new series and âLast Train To Clarksville.â We were in Dallas promoting â96 Tearsâ at a TV station. They said, âOh, we really like your song better, but we're gonna have to go with The Monkees this week and then yours next week, because they have a new TV series.â I said, âif you really feel ours is a better song, then why don't you do it?â âŠ.It's too bad we didn't have a TV series. People don't realize those two songs came out at the same time, and we beat 'em to number one first!â
âNobody really believed in the record except me,â the singer added. âNot even my group did. I knew it was destined to be a million seller.â
'90s Country Music Icon Released First No. 1 Hit Song 27 Years After Beginning Career
Billy Ray Cyrus spent decades as one of country musicâs most recognizable voices before finally earning his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019.Â
The country singer, who launched his career with his debut album Some Gave All in 1992, reached the top spot thanks to his feature on Lil Nas Xâs smash remix of âOld Town Road.â
The song became one of the biggest music hits of the decade and gave Cyrus a milestone that had taken 27 years to achieve.
âOld Town Road,â originally released independently by Lil Nas X in December 2018, exploded in popularity after going viral on TikTok. The remix featuring Cyrus arrived on April 5, 2019, and quickly climbed the charts.Â

By April 13, 2019, the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks.
For Cyrus, the achievement marked a major comeback moment after years of chart success in country music but never reaching the top of the all-genre Hot 100 chart.
His signature 1992 hit âAchy Breaky Heartâ had previously peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. While the song became a cultural phenomenon and helped launch a worldwide line-dancing craze, it stopped short of the chartâs top position.
Cyrus first entered the music scene in 1992 with the release of Some Gave All. The album became a huge commercial success, debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts.
The project produced several hit singles, including âAchy Breaky Heart,â âCouldâve Been Me,â and âSheâs Not Cryinâ Anymore.â The album eventually sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and became one of the best-selling country debut albums ever released.
Even with his early fame, Cyrus never reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the peak of his â90s popularity.
Over the years, he continued releasing albums, acting in television and movies, and later introduced himself to a younger generation through Disney Channelâs Hannah Montana, where he starred alongside his daughter Miley Cyrus.
Still, his career received an unexpected resurgence when Lil Nas X invited him to join the âOld Town Roadâ remix in 2019.
Cyrus said he immediately connected with the song when he first heard it. He later explained that the lyrics reminded him of the Old Town Bridge in Kentucky, where he spent time as a child.
The collaboration also arrived during controversy surrounding the songâs removal from Billboardâs Hot Country Songs chart. Billboard stated the track did not contain enough elements of todayâs country music, sparking widespread debate about genre boundaries and representation in country music.
Cyrus publicly supported Lil Nas X after the decision.
The remix of âOld Town Roadâ shattered records around the world. The song topped charts in multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom.
It also became the fastest song ever to receive Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America after selling 10 million units in the U.S. The single has since surpassed 17-times Platinum certification in America and sold more than 18 million copies worldwide.
The song blended country, rap, and trap influences, creating a sound that stood out from mainstream radio at the time. Produced by YoungKio, the track sampled Nine Inch Nailsâ â34 Ghosts IVâ and featured banjo sounds mixed with trap-style drums and bass.
Lil Nas X reportedly bought the beat online for just $30 before recording the song in one day.
The success of âOld Town Roadâ also earned Cyrus his first Grammy Awards. At the 62nd Grammy Awards, the remix won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video.
The trackâs historic 19-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100 broke the previous record held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Menâs âOne Sweet Dayâ and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankeeâs âDespacitoâ remix featuring Justin Bieber.
For Cyrus, the chart-topping moment proved that his music career still had room for new milestones nearly three decades after it began.

1974 Performance Named âGreatest Solo Everâ Still Stuns Musicians Today
A live performance recorded more than 50 years ago is still leaving even seasoned musicians trying to figure out what they just heard.
Captured in 1974 at Londonâs Ronnie Scottâs Jazz Club, a now-legendary piano solo by Oscar Peterson has taken on a new life decades later after musician and educator Rick Beato called it âthe greatest solo of all time.â
Related: 1982 Hit Named âMost Complex Pop Song of All Timeâ Released 44 Years Ago Today
The clip features Peterson performing a blues-based improvisation with his trio, but what unfolds over the next several minutes goes far beyond a standard solo.
Beato sets the stage early in his breakdown, acknowledging the weight of the claim while standing by it: âYou guys know that I'm into hyperbole, but when you see this, you're going to say, you know what, that may be the greatest solo of all time.â
Related:Â 1964 Song Ranked in âGreatest Songs of All Timeâ Became a Powerful Anthem
What makes the performance so striking isnât just speed or technical precisionâitâs how much is happening at once. Peterson moves seamlessly through multiple styles, shifting between bebop, boogie-woogie and stride piano, often sounding like more than one player at the keyboard.
At several points, Beato notes how difficult it is to even comprehend what Peterson is doing in real time, particularly when heâs improvising complex right-hand lines while simultaneously building a full accompaniment with his left.
âTo improvise over that is extremely difficult because he's making up both parts,â Beato explains.
Related:Â 1968 Hit Ranked Among âBest Road-Trip Songsâ of All Time
That balancing actâplaying lead and rhythm simultaneouslyâis part of what gives the performance its almost surreal quality. As the intensity builds, Peterson layers in walking bass lines, rapid-fire runs and sudden shifts in feel, all without losing control of the structure.
âIt sounds like two people playing,â Beato says at one point.
Even the musicians on stage with him seem caught off guard. Throughout the performance, guitarist Barney Kessel can be seen reacting in real time, exchanging looks with bassist Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen as Peterson pushes the solo further.
âThat's how you know that you're playing with a great player when you're looking at each other and go, man,â Beato says, pointing out their reactions.
Related: 1977 Hit Named âGreatest Two-Chord Song of All Timeâ Was a No. 1 Smash
Despite the complexity, the foundation remains simpleâa traditional blues structure that Peterson continuously reshapes, bending it into something far more expansive.
The result is a performance that feels both controlled and completely unpredictable, which helps explain why it continues to resonate decades later.
Beato ultimately places it among the most remarkable displays of musicianship heâs ever seen.

Quote of the Day: Garth Brooks Perfectly Explains Why Life's Struggles Ultimately Become Our Greatest Gifts
Growing up in Yukon, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks was one of six kids in a blended family. Mother Colleen was a professional country singer who recorded singles with Capitol Records and appeared on the Ozark Jubilee, but would sacrifice her successful career in order to focus on her family. But she always inspired a young Garth to chase his passion. "She gave me permission to have unlimited dreams," he wrote in his memoir, American Thunder. "Mom said, 'Hey, a mistake is okay if you tried your best.'"
His father, Troyal, worked as a draftsman for an oil company and taught Garth not only the power of hard work, but also his very first guitar chords. His mom and dad constantly played traditional country music in the house, while his siblings introduced him to the tunes of singer-songwriters like James Taylor. Meanwhile, his friends at school shared records from rock bands likeQueenand Kiss.
That combination of genres would ultimately inspire his trailblazing soundâbut getting that sound to the masses was hardly an overnight success. Long before the sold-out stadium tours, Brooks had to navigate the grueling gap between his mother's unlimited dreams and the seemingly endless rejection he faced in the music industry. From his humble beginnings playing college bars to becoming the best-selling solo artist in U.S. music history, Brooks learned that the journey to making your dreams a reality is never a straight shotâand it's exactly where life's most valuable lessons are found.
Quote of the Day by Garth BrooksParade/CanvaPro
"Too much credit is given to the end result. The true lesson is in the struggle that takes place between the dream and reality. That struggle is a thing called life."
In a world that celebrates the highlight reelâthe Grammy wins, the platinum albums, the sold-out stadiumsâBrooks is asking us to pay attention to the middle chapters. Because when we begin to accomplish our goals, we realize that the setbacks we faced along the way are a huge reason why we made it to the finish line. You learn so much during the challenging times and truly build your character. It's so important to remember his words any time you feel like giving up.

Deeper Meaning of Garth Brooks' QuoteâTrust the ProcessIt's hard to believe that someone who's sold over 170 million albums could have faced constant rejection. But for Brooks, it was a harsh reality. After graduating college in 1984, he played at local Oklahoma bars and one night, an entertainment attorney happened to be in the audience. Impressed, he not only offered to help produce a demo, but also share his industry contacts in Nashville. At just 23, Brooks thought it was his big break and planned a road trip.

But after arriving in Music City, he immediately realized that it was flooded with thousands of incredibly talented singers and songwriters, all looking for their shot. And those executives? They weren't waiting for himâthey were busy, inaccessible and unimpressed. Less than 24 hours later, Brooks got in his car and headed back to Oklahoma. âThings happen for a reason," he's said. "How you translate them at the time makes them good or bad."
"The Dance" singer spent the next two years playing local gigs, honing his craft and maturing. In 1987, he returned to Nashvilleâbut this time around, Brooks was no longer a naive youngster; he was a true hustler. He worked odd jobs, sang on other writers' demo tapes and spent months making genuine connections in the industry. And it was about to pay off: In April 1988, he performed for Capitol Records executives in a formal audition. Unfortunately, they passed on him completely, but Brooks kept going.
A few weeks later, he was scheduled to play 9th at a Bluebird CafĂ© showcaseâa time slot when most insiders would have already left the building. A true professional, he arrived super early. And when the night's second performer didn't show up, he went on in their place. Lynn Shultsâthe same Capitol executive who had rejected him just weeks earlierâhappened to be in the audience. After hearing Brooks perform "If Tomorrow Never Comes," she waited offstage and told him: "Maybe we missed something here. Come to the label tomorrow. Let's talk." On June 17, 1988, he signed a recording contract with Capitol Records.

Had Brooks succeeded during that first Nashville trip, he never would have developed the grit, artistry and storytelling depth that made him a household name. You see, ultimately, it wasn't the record contract that made him a superstar, but the resilience he built during the years it took to earn it. That gap between the dream and the reality wasn't just a detourâit was the exact struggle that made his legendary career possible.
Because he didn't just survive the space between his dream and his realityâhe let it shape him into one of the greatest artists in country music. It proves that the struggle isn't something to rush through; it's the very foundation of the life you're trying to build.

- "I've lost loved ones in my life who never knew how much I loved them. Now I live with the regret that my true feelings for them never were revealed."
- "You aren't wealthy until you have something money can't buy."

Costway 5-Tier Geometric Bookshelf, $65 (was $270) at Target Shop at TargetThe design is what really sets it apart. Instead of a traditional grid layout, it features an asymmetrical, S-shaped structure that feels modern and sculptural. It almost looks like a piece of art, which makes it a great focal point in any room. It comes in three colors â black, brown, and white â to match your space.
You can purchase it in a pack of one or two if youâre looking for a more symmetrical setup. Placing two side by side can also create a simple DIY room divider, which is especially useful in open layouts or studio apartments.
In terms of size, it measures 27.5 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 62.5 inches tall. Each shelf offers about 20 inches of length and 12 inches of height, giving you enough room for books, decor, and more. It has a 45-pound weight capacity, which is solid for everyday storage needs.
Itâs also built with durability in mind. It has a metal frame, and the shelves are made from sturdy particle board with thick edge sealing to help extend the lifespan. A stable base and non-slip foot pads add extra support while also protecting your floors from scratches.
For added safety, it comes with two anti-toppling kits that let you secure the bookshelf to the wall.
