Lisa Marie Presley Once Opened Up About the Pain of Graceland’s Family Graveyard

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:46am

Graceland was always Lisa Marie Presley’s home, but it also became a place where joy and profound loss quietly lived side by side.

Over the years, the Memphis estate came to represent far more than a famous landmark. At its center, the family graveyard, where her father Elvis Presley, grandparentsGladys and Vernon Presley, and great-grandmother Minnie Mae Presley were laid to rest, stood as a constant reminder of the loved ones she lost and the emotional weight she carried.

In a 2003 interview with Playboy magazine, as reprinted by Elvis Australia, Presley reflected on that responsibility. She spoke candidly about her true feelings toward the home she grew up in.

The entertainer discussed her song "Lights Out," whose lyrics navigated the immense weight of her family legacy and her grief surrounding her father, Elvis Presley. The single addressed her complicated relationship with Graceland, and reflected on her family's burial ground.

"The back lawn of Graceland is a graveyard, basically. How many people have a family grave in the backyard?" she asked.

Presley continued, "How many people are reminded of their fate, their mortality, every day? All the graves are lined up, and there's a spot there, waiting for me, right next to my grandmother."

When asked by the outlet if she planned on being buried alongside her family members, Presley admitted, "I don't plan on anything. I'm sure I'll end up there."

She quipped, "Or I'll shrink my head and put it in a glass box in the living room. I'll get more tourists to Graceland that way."

Presley’s ancestral home became a tourist attraction in 1982. According to Billboard, opening Graceland to the public helped preserve the historic home while also covering the estate’s high inheritance and maintenance costs. Priscilla Presley and Jack Soden, CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, opened the mansion for tours in June of that year, and it has remained open to visitors ever since.

The Meditation Garden, which is essentially a family graveyard, was the place where Presley buried her son, Benjamin Storm Keough, in 2020. In 2023, Lisa Marie Presley died at 54, and she was interred alongside her son, across from her family.

In June 2023, Lisa Marie's mother, Priscilla Presley, was permitted to be buried near her only husband at Graceland. PEOPLE Magazine shared court documents of the family's plans, which stated, "To the extent of her authority, Riley agrees to allow Priscilla to be buried upon her death in the Meditation Garden of Graceland. The burial location will be at the location closest to Elvis Presley without moving any existing gravesite."

Ring's Super Bowl Ad Spotlighting Dog Rescues Features Harry Nilsson's Song

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:44am

Whether it's your baby or fur baby, the thought of living "without" them is just out of the question for parents — and pet owners.

With its new ad campaign airing during the Super Bowl, Ring is now hoping to alleviate the pain for owners of furry friends if dogs happen to go missing.

It is Ring's founder Jamie Siminoff who narrates the emotional spot, stating that "pets are family, but every year, 10 million go missing, and the way we look for them hasn’t changed in years — until now."

He continues, "With 'Search Party' from Ring, one post to the Ring app starts outdoor cameras in the area, looking for a match," going on to boast that since the feature’s launch, more than a dog a day has been reunited with its family. See the potentially tear-jerking clip below.

And fans of the late, great Harry Nilsson might catch on that his iconic song plays over the ad, which shows a young girl greeting her new puppy, putting up "missing" fliers alongside her dad, and expressing joy as the dog returns home. As Billboard reports, Nilsson's "Without You" is one of the most recognizable heartbreak ballads of the 1970s, a cover of Badfinger's original track.

Nilsson’s version peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1972 and retained the top spot for four weeks, the magazine also noted on Monday, Feb. 2. "Without You" has also been covered by Air Supply and Mariah Carey, among others.

Other Super Bowl ads have been debuting online before the big game, including an Oikos spot starring Kathryn Hahn. The Emmy-nominee, 52, recently opened up exclusively to Parade about why she was excited to partner with the brand.

“I’m a mom, I have teenagers, so the fact that I could maybe throw one of these [Oikos products] at them on the way out the door gives me, like… I just feel like I’ve done my job as a mom for that day, that they have enough power to get through the rest of their day,” Hahn told us.

Jelly Roll Sparks Debate With His Response to Political Question on Grammys Red Carpet

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:41am

Jelly Roll is catching some heat for dodging a question about politics on the Grammys red carpet.

While attending the event on Sunday, Feb. 1—during which he won his first-ever Grammy Award—the country music star was asked by reporters to comment on recent events involving ICE amid ongoing protests across the U.S., but he declined to offer up any clear opinion.

In footage from the interview uploaded to social media by journalist Tomás Mier after Sunday night's ceremony, Jelly Roll, 41, insisted, "People shouldn't care to hear my opinion."

"I'm a dumb redneck," the "Need a Favor" star continued, adding, "I haven't watched enough. I didn't have a phone for 18 months."

View this post on Instagram

Despite mentioning that he has now had a phone for 4 months, Jelly Roll said he still doesn't use any social media, stating, "I've become so disconnected from what's happening."

Many fans on social media were dissatisfied with Jelly Roll's response, with one commenter on Instagram saying he has "a lot of privilege" to be unaware of what's currently going on in the country.

"His silence and fake ignorance says more than he knows," another critic chimed in.

"How can you be an artist and make culturally relevant art without having any idea of the human experience happening in your own country," someone else wondered.

But in his red carpet interview, Jelly Roll explained that growing up in a "drug addict household" left him unaware and disconnected from the topic of politics for much of his life.

"You think we have common calls about what's happening in world politics?" he said. "We're just trying to find a way to survive."

However, Jelly Roll still claimed to have "a lot to say" on the matter, while promising in the interview, "I'm going to [speak on the topic] the next week, and everybody's gonna hear exactly what I have to say about it in the most loud and clear way I've ever spoke in my life."

Jelly Roll—whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord—also briefly mentioned politics in his acceptance speech after winning Best Contemporary Country Album during Sunday night's show, stating on stage, "Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party."

The Most Resilient Zodiac Signs, Ranked

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:39am

Resilience is unique for each person. Overall, it isn’t about never breaking; it’s more about how you recover. Per astrologers, every zodiac sign has its own way of surviving hardship, even if it doesn’t look like traditional strength. Spiritually, resilience is less about toughness and more about transformation. For some zodiac signs, it means enduring challenges quietly, while for others, it means reinventing themselves after facing setbacks. Astrologers will typically agree that while every star sign possesses strength, some are inherently more likely to be better suited to weather storms, adapt, and persevere. Here’s a ranking of the zodiac signs from most to least resilient, along with explanations for each ranking.

The Most Resilient Zodiac Signs, Ranked from Most to Least Likely

Check for your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs.

Scorpio

Scorpios are widely considered the most resilient sign of the zodiac. Ruled by Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, Scorpios have an unmatched ability to transform pain into power. They are not just survivors of hardship because they actually emerge stronger, wiser, and more self-aware. No matter how many times they fall, they always rise again.

Capricorn

Capricorns are built for endurance. When life gets tough, they lean on discipline, patience, and long-term vision rather than emotion. They may struggle internally, but they rarely quit, steadily climbing their way out of setbacks. Resilience for Capricorn is quiet, persistent, and deeply rooted.

Taurus

Taurus may resist change, but once challenged, their strength becomes undeniable. This earth sign has incredible staying power and resists being shaken easily. Taurus regains its balance through inner resolve and stability, and they survive by standing firm when others give up.

Working this way helps them recover steadily, even if they're emotionally affected. Virgo resilience comes from adaptability and mental strength.

Aquarius

Aquarius handles hardship through emotional detachment and perspective. They're able to step back, look at the bigger picture, and avoid drowning in feelings. While they may not process emotions right away, they adapt quickly and keep moving forward. Their resilience lies in innovation and emotional independence.

Aries

Aries is resilient in the moment, charging forward with raw determination. Aries quickly recovers from setbacks, but may struggle with long-term emotional wounds. Their strength lies in courage and momentum rather than reflection. Aries survives by refusing to stay still.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius uses optimism as a survival tool. They bounce back by focusing on future possibilities and lessons learned rather than dwelling on pain. While this helps them recover quickly, they sometimes avoid fully processing deeper emotions. Their resilience is fueled by hope and perspective.

Cancer

Cancer is emotionally resilient but deeply sensitive. They feel pain intensely, yet their ability to nurture themselves and others helps them heal over time. Support systems are crucial to their recovery, and once they feel safe, they regain strength. Cancer survives through emotional depth and care.

RELATE?: The Most Loyal, Devoted Zodiac Signs Ranked, According to Astrologers

Gemini

Gemini can struggle emotionally under prolonged stress. They often cope by distracting themselves or talking through problems rather than sitting with discomfort. While this helps in the short term, deeper resilience takes time to develop. Their strength lies in flexibility, not endurance.

Pisces

Pisces feels everything, which can make resilience a challenge. They often absorb pain deeply and may retreat into fantasy or escapism when overwhelmed. While they are compassionate and spiritually strong, they struggle to bounce back quickly. Healing for Pisces is slow but meaningful.

TRENDING: The Most Powerful Zodiac Signs Ranked, According to Astrologers

Libra

Libra ranks the lowest on the resilience list, not because they are weak, but because conflict deeply unsettles them. They thrive on balance and harmony, and prolonged chaos can drain them emotionally. Libras will often rely on others for support during hard times. Their strength emerges once peace is restored.

Classic '80s Metal Song Makes Surprising Appearance in New Trailer

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:17am

Two celebrated franchises have come together for an unexpected but epic collab: Guns N' Roses and Mobile Suit Gundam.

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that "Sweet Child O' Mine," from Guns N' Roses' landmark debut album, Appetite For Destruction, will serve as the ending theme for the newest Gundam film, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery Of Nymph Circe.

The company released a special promotional trailer featuring the song (which, at first, feels like you're watching an animemusic video you downloaded from Limewire in 2002). Slash's unforgettable opening notes echo out alongside scenes of romance (a passionate kiss, a warm embrace) and destruction. As Axl Rose's unmistakable voice kicks in, you might think this is a trailer for a romantic indie film…if not for the giant robots and explosions.

But romance has been a key component of many Gundam series. Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery Of Nymph Circe is the second of a trilogy of films adapted from the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway novels (written by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino). The promotional video, according to Blabbermouth.net, highlights the protagonist Hathaway Noa's inner conflict as he "struggles to move on from his feelings for Gigi Andalusia."

While swayed by her cryptic words, he continues preparing for [his] mission — the attack on the Adelaide Conference. Meanwhile, Kenneth Sleg of the Federation Forces prepares a defense operation for the Adelaide Conference... when he is approached by Handley Yoxon of the Criminal Police Organization with a secret proposal. As Hathaway and Kenneth pursue their respective goals, Gigi also sets off for Hong Kong to fulfill her own role.

The video also gives Gundam fans a glimpse of the new mobile suit "TX-ff104 ALYZEUS". The film hit Japanese theaters last Friday (Jan. 30), with a global release soon to follow.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam series debuted in April 1979; the show was groundbreaking, not just for its premise of fantastical "mobile suits," aka giant robots, but also for how it depicted war in a more mature and realistic way.

Though initially cancelled due to low ratings, reruns (and the introduction of model kits) sparked a renewed interest in Gundam. Over the past 45 years, there have been numerous installments, adaptations, and timelines in the series (here's a breakdown at Crunchyroll).Gundam remains one of the most iconic franchises in anime and pop culture history.

Guns N' Roses have endured similar highs and lows as Gundam. Forming in the mid-80s, the group struggled until the release of the "Welcome to the Jungle" music video. The album also contained "Sweet Child O' Mine," which became the band's sole No. 1 Hot 100 hit. After some generational-defining songs like "Patience," "Don't Cry," and "November Rain," personal and professional issues fractured the band.

In the '90s, GNR was essentially just Axl Rose and a lineup that lasted only one album—the comically delayed Chinese Democracy. In recent years, original members Axl, Slash and Duff McKagan have patched things up, reforming GNR alongside longtime keyboardist Dizzy Reed, drummer Isaac Carpenter, keyboardist Melissa Reese and guitarist Richard Fortus.

Slash spoke to KOMP 92.3 on Jan. 27 and said that GNR were working on repackaging some tracks from Chinese Democracy before working on a new album of "all new original stuff."

Colman Domingo Leaves Fans Speechless in New Michael Jackson Trailer: 'The Transformation is Crazy Good'

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:09am

The upcoming 2026 film Michael already has fans in a chokehold after seeing Jaafar Jackson portray his legendary uncle on the big screen, and Colman Domingo is only adding to the shock. Taking on the role of Joe Jackson, Domingo has left fans floored by his uncanny, near-perfect resemblance to the King of Pop's father.

Michael's newest trailer revealed more of how the movie adapts the pop icon's upbringing into one of the world's most infamous singers. The trailer begins with Michael Jackson's voice saying he's the "greatest of all time" before cutting to his childhood, becoming the Jackson 5 with his siblings.

Domingo is seen as Joe telling his children at the dinner table that they have to be willing to work for it if they don't want to be stuck working the steel mill like him. The trailer details the personal family struggles as the Jackson 5 rise in international fame and Joe's firm hold on his children's success.

Seeing Domingo as the pop icon's father left many fans shocked with the actor's uncanny resemblance. An X user posted a side-by-side comparison of the actor versus a real-life family photo of Joe with his children, with one fan commenting, "transformation is crazy good."

— tabloid junkie 🌊 (@theplacehotelly) February 2, 2026

"Makeup team going crazy," said one fan, while another fan commented, " I forgot what the guy playing him used to look like lol."

Other fans commented how the movie's make-up department is already in the running for winning an Oscar based on Domingo alone, with one fan sating it's "scary accurate" and "Nasty yet beautiful work."

Related: Catherine O’Hara’s Last TV and Movie Role Before Her Death at 71

Part of the shock surrounding Domingo’s portrayal stems from his chilling transformation into Joe Jackson, fully embodying the pop icon's dark and controversial family history.

"Coleman said make me Evil," said one fan, while another added, "he looks evil asf that's Joe right there."

Seeing Domingo as Joe Jackson, even had one fan saying, "Perfect characterization, it really looks like the old man came back from hell just to play himself. No more!"

"colman looks so fucking atrocious… the costume department got joes look DOWN," said one commentator.

Michael Jackson often publicly spoke about the emotional and physical abuse at Joe's hand, describing beatings, verbal abuse, and fear during their upbringing. The trailer hints at exploring the storyline when a young Michael tries to stand up for himself, while his father pointedly says, "I told you what to think."

Some fans are already calling out an Oscar win for Supporting Actor for Domingo in the role.

Disney's Dinosaur Attraction Permanently Shuts Down After 28 Years

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:03am

It's always a sad day whenever an iconic theme park attraction permanently shutters its doors. Such is especially the case when it's a ride that's been around as long as Disney's Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom, one of the original attractions at the park for the past 28 years.

In spite of its nearly three decade long history, February 1 marked the final day of operations for the fan-favorite thrill ride, officially closing a chapter in Animal Kingdom's ongoing vision for the animal-themed amusement park.

Originally, Dinosaur was one of the initial attractions featured at Animal Kingdom upon the park's opening on April 22, 1998. For its first few years of operation, the attraction was known as Countdown to Extinction, before being rebranded as Dinosaur to coincide with the release of Disney's 2000 animated film of the same name.

Taking visitors on a fast-moving trip back in time, Dinosaur saw guests step into the Dino Institute to learn more about the wonders of the past. Upon meeting an eccentric scientist, guests then board a Jeep-style time machine that transports them back to the Cretaceous period.

With numerous dinosaur audio-animatronics characterizing the ride experience, Dinosaur allowed visitors to come face to face with many of the most fascinating creatures from prehistorical records, including the fearsome Carnotaurus and the far more docile Iguanodon.

While the ride has long been a popular attraction among guests at Walt Disney World, the company had previously announced plans to shut down the ride to make way for a new park area themed after Indiana Jones.

This new Indiana Jones-themed attraction is expected to open in fall, 2027 as part of the new Tropical Americas area of Animal Kingdom. In addition to the Indiana Jones ride, the area will also include an attraction inspired by Encanto, the critically acclaimed 2021 Disney animated musical that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 94th Oscars.

15 Black Artists Who Shaped Country Music

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 10:00am

Beyoncé’s much-anticipated eighth album, Cowboy Carter, arrived in 2024, and as many fans suspected, it’s in part a tribute to Black artists who’ve gone ignored in country music, as Renaissance was a love letter to house.

As the woman herself put it, “This ain’t a country album. This is a Beyoncé album,” but Cowboy Carter could certainly teach casual country fans a few things they didn’t know about the genre. The album features two spoken-word intros from Linda Martell, the first Black woman to play the Grand Ole Opry, as well as guest appearances by contemporary stars Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts.

If Cowboy Carter has piqued your interest in Black artists’ foundational role in the history of country music, then Rissi Palmer is one of the best people you could turn to to learn more. Palmer, who in 2007 became the first Black woman to chart a country song in 20 years, is the host of Apple Music’s Color Me Country, where she highlights artists of color who have too long gone ignored in a genre that has remained incredibly resistant to change.

“My biggest goal was just wanting to make sure that artists of color had a platform where they could go, where they felt comfortable enough to just tell the story, not to edit the story, not sugarcoat the story, but just tell the story,” Palmer says of her radio show.

“And also I wanted to course-correct, because so much of this stuff has been hidden and has been kept from the general public. I don't think on purpose. I think more so just because people don't see it as important, and it is important. And I'm trying to, with the show, actively combat erasure.”

Here, Palmer shares her thoughts on Martell and 14 more Black artists who are essential to understanding the history of country music—and where it’s going next.

15 Black Country Music Artists1. Lesley Riddle

Most country fans know the Carter Family as some of the earliest pioneers of country, but far fewer know that Mother Maybelle learned her technique from a Black man. “He was a pastor and a master guitar player who was missing fingers on his left hand,” Palmer says of Riddle. “And it caused him to have to change the way that he played because of that, and he developed this very distinctive style of playing."

"Basically, what is known as [Maybelle’s] distinctive guitar playing style—he taught that to her. He was also the person that went out and gathered the music for [the Carter Family’s] first record. A lot of that music came from Black people. It came from Black churches. It came from music that was being sung by enslaved people in the field, music that they were sitting around playing around the campfire and that sort of thing."

"One of the biggest songs that the Carter Family is associated with is ‘Will the Circle Be Unbroken?' It's written in the Country Music Hall of Fame on the walls, and it's this song that Black people have been singing in church for years. Lesley is very much tied to the lore and iconography of the Carter Family and does not get the credit I think that he deserves for that.”

2–3. Etta Baker and Elizabeth Cotten Etta Baker

Palmer draws a direct through line from Baker and Cotten to Beyoncé's “Texas Hold 'Em,” which features a distinctive guitar sound and Rhiannon Giddens’ banjo playing. “They are both pioneers of the Piedmont blues guitar style,” Palmer explains of Baker and Cotten, who were both from Palmer’s native North Carolina.

“It's like a rolling guitar kind of lick, and they both were originators of that. These were just two women that were master guitar players. When we think of blues, we always think of older Black men. We don't often think about Black women, but they had a very distinctive style, so much so that Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, all these people have cited them as influences on their playing style and their singing style."

"‘Going Down the Road Feeling Bad’ and ‘Freight Train’ are two songs that I think are exemplary of their technique and their playing style that has influenced the American songbook from the moment that they were released.”

4. Lil Hardin Armstrong

Hardin was Louis Armstrong’s second wife and a successful musician and composer in her own right, but her achievements have been greatly overshadowed by those of her famous husband. “She was an accomplished pianist and she was a bandleader at a time when women, especially Black women, were not leading bands,” says Palmer.

“She and Louis Armstrong arranged and played on Jimmie Rodgers’ ‘Blue Yodel #9,’ and they were uncredited. They're all over it. In future years, as Louis became famous, people gave him credit for that, but people rarely give Lil the credit for that. And as far as my knowledge is concerned, she's the first Black female to play on a country album with that song.”

5. DeFord Bailey

Bailey, a harmonica player who was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, was the first Black performer to be featured on the Grand Ole Opry. “That was the first sound that you heard whenever you turned on the Grand Ole Opry radio show,” Palmer says of Bailey’s work.

“He was one of the cast regulars and could not even stay in the same hotel with his peers and never received the renown that he deserved, which meant that wasn't able to translate that into a full career, nor was he able to translate that into financial stability.”

6. Ray Charles

Photo by James Kriegsmann/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images

Charles is known as a pioneer of soul, but in 1962, he released Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, which helped point the genre in a new direction even though it wasn’t embraced by country radio. “So many Black artists at this time grew up listening to country,” Palmer says.

“Back then there weren't that many radio stations, and so radio stations would just play a lot of different genres at the same time. So, many Black people, myself included, grew up listening to country in the same way that they consumed R&B and gospel and all these other things. And then to take it even further, because of religion and religious beliefs, so many Black people were not able to listen to secular music, and so they could only consume gospel music and country music.”

Charles had already been reshaping other genres with his earlier work, and he did the same thing with country on Modern Sounds. “He was a master at that,” Palmer explains. “He took these songs and turned them into these lush arrangements and just these really soulful, beautiful versions. You are hearing them in a completely different way than you did with the original records."

"And because of Ray, you can also make a direct tie to the change in Nashville in terms of these very lush arrangements and the lush background, vocal arrangements, and that sort of thing. But country radio didn't touch this record at the time when it was released, and it was only celebrated in pop and some in R&B.”

7. Charley Pride

Pride, who was a Negro League baseball player before he was a country star, is one of the most successful country artists of all time, charting 30 No. 1 hits throughout his career and becoming one of only three Black members of the Grand Ole Opry.

"Ray Charles doing Modern Sounds in Country and WesternMusic and the subsequent success of that record are completely directly tied [to Charley],” Palmer says. “You can make the argument that one happened because of the other, meaning Charley happened because of Ray Charles. And even though he was loved and was welcomed into the fold, he faced racism from his peers."

"There are very well-documented stories of Willie Nelson calling him the N-word, or George Jones writing [KKK] on the side of his car. Those are things that are ugly, and we don't like to think about them because George Jones and Willie Nelson are two of the icons of country music, but this is what the climate was like for him, and they were ‘joking’ with him. And so Charley took all of this abuse and unfortunately had to do it with a smile and keep his head down and keep moving."

8. Linda Martell

Photo by Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images

Martell, as mentioned, is actually on Cowboy Carter, delivering powerful words about the slipperiness of genre. “Genres are a funny little concept, aren't they?” she says on “Spaghettii,” which also features Shaboozey. “In theory, they have a simple definition that's easy to understand, but in practice, well, some may feel confined.”

Martell’s first and only album, Color Me Country, was released in 1970 and served as the inspiration for the title of Palmer’s Apple Music show and her grant fund. “Her story is so exemplary of so many stories in the space,” Palmer explains. "She was sought after because Shelby Singleton, who owned the record label that she was signed to, Plantation Records, was looking for a female counterpart to Charley Pride."

"That was pretty much the onus for every Black female that got signed at this time, was to be a counterpoint to Charley Pride. So much of the literature that I found whenever I'm researching is these record companies saying, ‘Oh, she's the female Charley Pride,’ or, ‘She's Charley Pride in a skirt,’ or all these different things. And so they weren't really being sought after for their own individuality. They were being sought after literally as a marketing tool to be the counterpoint to Charley."

Martell’s album and several singles landed on Billboard’s country charts, but Singleton dropped her from Plantation after her labelmate Jeannie C. Riley started blowing up with the song “Harper Valley P.T.A.” Martell cut another album for a different label, but Singleton made sure that she never got to release it.

“Shelby so cruelly blacklisted her in Nashville, so nobody would touch her,” Palmer explains. “So she ended up having to leave and go back to South Carolina and raise her family. And she drove a school bus for a while and never stopped singing, never stopped performing locally, but just never got the attention and the dues that she really deserved and was robbed of the career that she absolutely could have had.”

9. Tina Turner

For those surprised to see Turner on this list, Palmer has this to say: “The woman is from a town called Nutbush, Tennessee! I don't know how much more country you could be.”

Like Charles, Turner was raised on country music, and her first solo album, 1974’s Tina Turns the Country On!, featured covers by country icons like Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson. She earned a Grammy nomination for the album in 1975—in the R&B category, despite the fact that “country” is right there in the title.

“I actually have this album framed in my office,” Palmer says. “I love the cover so much, and I love Tina Turner, so this is a personal favorite of mine. And again, this did not receive any attention from Nashville or from the country charts or country radio.”

10. Alice Randall

Randall is a true polymath: She’s a songwriter, a novelist, a cookbook author, a professor and more. She was one of the few Black songwriters on Nashville’s Music Row, and she wrote the 2001 novel The Wind Done Gone, which retells Gone With the Wind from the perspective of an enslaved woman.

On the music front, her most famous track is “XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl),” which was cowritten with Matraca Berg and became a No. 1 hit for Trisha Yearwood in 1994.

“I call her my fairy godmother,” says Palmer, who appears on the Randall tribute album, My Black Country: The Songs of Alice Randall. "I say that because Alice has been just such an incredible advocate for me and for Black women in this space, and specifically making sure that they are paid what they are worth. She's an incredible songwriter, but more than anything, she's just a really effective advocate for us."

"Alice came to Nashville specifically to be a country songwriter, and I also think that's an important distinction, because out of all the Black women that have written songs that are hits, like Tayla Parx and Muni Long and even Donna Summer, Alice is the only one out of all of them that is specifically a country songwriter that came here to do that. She's just a very cool person. For a long time, she was the publisher for Garth Brooks, and she's had songs cut by Glen Campbell and George Strait and so many of the people that we think of as country music royalty."

11. Rissi Palmer

Palmer, to be clear, did not ask to be included on this list, but she deserves to be here all the same. In 2007, she became the first Black woman to chart a country song in 20 years with her debut single, “Country Girl.”

She’s since released three solo albums (and is currently at work on her fourth) and has collaborated with fellow Black country groundbreakers like Miko Marks and Gangstagrass. In addition to hosting her Color Me Country radio show, she also cofounded a grant fund of the same name to support underrepresented groups in country music.

12. Rhiannon Giddens

Giddens, like Martell, appears on Cowboy Carter, playing banjo on “Texas Hold ’Em.” While her music falls more into the folk and Americana categories, she’s done a ton of work to make sure that people know the banjo was invented by enslaved Black people.

In addition to her solo work, Giddens has released music as part of the band Carolina Chocolate Drops and the group Our Native Daughters, which also includes Amythyst Kiah, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell

"On top of the fact that she's written operas, she has done all of this really great music historical work,” Palmer says. “She is a strong, fabulous, well-versed, seasoned musician, and first and foremost, a classically trained singer. So that instrument is tip-top, and I'm really glad that people are getting to be reintroduced or introduced to her for the first time because she really is incredible."

"Without trying to sound like a fangirl, she's another woman that I admire greatly and have been really inspired by. She's not a commercial country artist, and that's not a dig. She is an old-time bluegrass performer, and I think she would even tell you that, but she has made an indelible mark."

13. Mickey Guyton

Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images for CMT/Viacom

After Palmer landed on the charts with “Country Girl,” it was eight more years before another Black woman achieved the same milestone. That was Guyton, whose 2015 song "Better Than You Left Me" hit No. 34 on the Country Airplay Chart.

In 2020, she became the first ever Black woman to earn a nomination in the Best Country Solo Performance category, for her song “Black Like Me.”

"It’s wild to think that it took another eight years for there to be another Black woman chart,” Palmer says. “Mickey was, at the time when she dropped her first single, the only Black woman signed to a major label. Now that's not true, there are others, but she was one of the only ones. Mickey's had a really interesting career in that it took her 10 years to release her debut album, which is wild when you look at her peers.

"It took ‘What Are You Gonna Tell Her?’ and ‘Black Like Me’ for her to kind of break out. Country radio has not budged to play her and to play any of these songs, and so she continues to work, but she is a byproduct of what happens when country radio does not support you, because it's very hard to have a career when you don't have the backing of country radio."

14. Chapel Hart Trea Swindle, Danica Hart and Devynn Hart.

“Chapel Hart, I think, are superstars,” Palmer says of the trio, which is made up of sisters Danica Hart and Devynn Hart and their cousin Trea Swindle. "The fact that they're not signed and they're not on a major tour right now is baffling to me. They've been on America's Got Talent, they've had Loretta Lynn singing their praises and they’re regulars on the Opry, and they're just incredible musicians."

"I had the pleasure of taking them to Europe to be a part of the Color Me Country takeover stage at the Long Road Festival. And when I tell you they damn near caused a riot when they tried to get off the stage at this afterparty that they were performing at—they were only supposed to sing three songs, they ended up doing a 90-minute set. It was incredible. They just have this effect on people whenever they see them. The genre is missing out on some big energy by not taking a chance on Chapel Hart."

15. Darius Rucker

Photo by Denise Truscello/Getty Images for iHeartMedia

After fronting the ’90s staple band Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker pivoted to country music, eventually becoming one of only three Black members of the Grand Ole Opry. Though Rucker had years and years of experience under his belt by the time he began working in country, he’s been open about the fact that he’s faced discrimination from the establishment.

“Darius came into the situation being a superstar through Hootie & the Blowfish. You would think, ‘Oh, he's probably had a really easy time.’ I had him on the show and he talked about some of this stuff for the very first time, the way that he was treated when he first came to Nashville, and the skepticism and the outright racism that he faced at radio, trying to get people to play the first single,” Palmer says.

“I don't think on the surface you would think that that's what was going on with him, because you see him getting No. 1s and doing all these tours and fishing with all the other artists and that sort of thing. But in the very beginning, it was really hard for him. It just goes to show you that it doesn't matter how famous you are, it doesn't matter how much money you have or anything. You still at some point have to face some of these realities, unfortunately.”

These 4 Birth Dates Become Wise Later in Life, Per Experts

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 9:58am

To quote Pericles, "Time is the wisest counselor of all." Do you ever take the time to truly look back at your life? Whether you’re reading your weekly horoscope or your life purpose astrology, your mind is often focused on the future. However, some of your biggest realizations may occur when doing the opposite—looking back at the past. By allowing yourself to go down memory lane, you may become more in touch with your resilience—and more importantly, you may notice how much wiser you’ve become

And while most of us become wiser with the passage of time, those born during specific birth dates may experience this coming-of-age sense of informed confidence more prominently. This ability to grow into a stronger version of themselves is connected to numerology. Most specifically, their birth date number. You may wonder: why numbers? The language of numbers is universal and the most ancient and simple way of understanding how energy is expressed through us. Read on to discover which four birth dates age and mature into becoming wise later in life, according to expert astrologers and numerologists.

Which Birth Dates Grow Wiser Later in Life?

If you were born on the dates below, you may find yourself getting wiser—and therefore, happier, as time progresses.

Born on the 7th — Bridge Builder of Wisdom

As the most complex single digit, seven carries a unique energy due to its planetary rulerships. Ruled by Ketu (the South Node of the Moon) in traditional astrology and Neptune in modern astrology, it speaks of those born on this day being naturally inclined to spiritual practices. When young, they may feel confused about their life direction and need to experiment with a wide range of interests. But once they find a path that allows them to unite their intuition and analytical mind, they begin accessing their inner wisdom.

Another esoteric practice, tarot, says a similar story. In the minor arcana, 7 moves the energies of the spiritual to the material realm, bringing the opportunity for things to take shape. Those born on the 7th of any month come with immense past-life guidance, and as they learn to trust that guidance from spirit, they become wiser with the passage of time.

Born on the 12th — The Wise Artist

Those born on the 12th age into peak wisdom. Twelve is truly a special number, as it’s infused in humanity’s entire existence. In your younger years, you may be more preoccupied with social interaction as a way to get to know the world around you. Everything that you absorb now—especially the fun moments—is meant to enrich your soul. After all, your birth date, reduced to 3, is ruled by Jupiter, the jovial planet of knowledge.

But as you get older, you may notice all these rich life experiences being the catalyst for your creativity, most specifically, your verbal and writing skills. It’s not that you’ll stop connecting with people—it may be more about reaching more people with your expansive and heart-warming ideas. As the years go by and your focus shifts to bringing your medicine to the world, the more personal fulfillment you’re meant to feel.

Born on the 17th — The Wise Builder

If you were born on the 17th, you’re ambitious about your goals, but most specifically those related to your career. More likely than not, you knew what you wanted from a very young age, accumulating both knowledge and experience since then. Your excellent financial instincts are no coincidence, as your birth date, reduced to the number 8, is ruled by Saturn

Because Saturn rules time itself, you benefit even more than others from often revisiting your past accomplishments. As you go down memory lane, you may realize that big breakthroughs occur when you allow yourself to adopt a more fluid approach to life. As you grow older and collect more wisdom, a true sense of inner trust builds when you realize that in reality, you’re always in the right place, at the right time, and with the right people by your side.

Born on the 27th — The Wise Humanitarian

Some birth dates are experiential, and those born on the 27th are one of them. You love being surrounded by people, but it may not always be for socializing. What you’re looking for is to expose yourself to a wide variety of experiences as a way to accumulate knowledge. For this reason, the more you see, taste, connect, and absorb, the wiser you become. Searching for variety is truly your modus operandi, giving you a well-rounded view of the world around you.

Astrologically and numerologically, 27 reduces to 9, a number that responds to the energy of Mars. As your primary activator, the red planet constantly inspires you to seek newness to feel confident. So whenever you make major life decisions, trust that opportunities arrive at divine timing to support your personal growth.

'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Official Trailer Is Finally Here

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 9:54am

Gird your loins! The first full-length trailer for the most-anticipated sequel of the year has finally dropped.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 sees the main cast of the original film — Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt — back together, with business matters taking them from the Big Apple to Milan, Lake Como, and beyond.

This go-round, Streep’s Miranda is still at the helm of Runway, with Tucci’s Nigel right by her side. Hathaway’s Andy, however, now holds the position of Runway features editor, while Blunt’s Emily is a boss in her own right with a pair of assistants flanking her person.

As the trailer rolls, Andy remains a punching bag for fashion’s elite. “Look what T.J. Maxx dragged in,” Nigel barbs. “Who is this? Do you know her? Do I know her?” Miranda pokes. “You’ve changed. You have. You're much more confident. Kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?” Emily smirks.

Teased in last night’s Grammys then released online, the trailer has already racked up more than 4.5 million views. And it comes 20 years after the original film released to major fanfare in June 2006.

Based on the same-name novel by Lauren Weisberger, The Devil Wears Prada follows ambitious news editor Andy Sachs through the “hell on heels” world of high-fashion via the editor-in-chief of fashion bible Runway, Miranda Priestly.

According to Variety, the sequel follows Priestly “as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.”

New faces include Kenneth Branagh, who plays Priestly’s new boyfriend, as well as Sydney Sweeney, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet. Lady Gaga will make a cameo appearance.

‘Inside Edition’ Journalist Deborah Norville, 67, Is an Absolute Blonde Beauty After Leaving the Series

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 9:49am

Legendary Inside Edition journalist Deborah Norville is back at her alma mater, and she looks better than ever.

Norville, 67, who joined the popular American tabloid television program in 1995, is known as the longest-serving female anchor on national TV. While she chose to step away from the series in 2025, she's still a news icon who inspired legions of young people to pursue journalism careers. Norville recently returned to her alma mater to speak with students about her lengthy career, and from the stunning photo of her standing in front of the school, it's safe to say she's still the iconic blonde beauty she was on TV.

"Back where it all began!! What a day (and more to come) as I was back at @ugagrady for an amazing honor and even better, a chance to spend much of the day with the talented journalism students studying to make a difference thanks to the First Amendment," Norville captioned her photo, which showed her arm outstretched as she stood in front of the school. "Years ago someone told me their mom used to say to them, 'Remember where you come from.' Well, I come from Georgia and the Grady School at Georgia was critical to my success. How lucky I was to start there ❤️🖤."

Norville Left 'Inside Edition' Last Year

Last year, Norville announced on Inside Edition that she would be leaving the show after 30 years.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to be here at Inside for all these years,” Norville shared. “A milestone like this is a time for reflection and on reflection, I’ve decided that now is the time for me to move on from Inside Edition.”

The TV icon went on to say that while the network tried to keep her, she hoped to pursue other things that her role on the show wouldn't allow.

“There are things I’d like to do, places I want to do them that continuing here don’t permit,” she noted.

Reflecting on Some of Her Biggest Stories

Norville later took to Instagram to reflect on her lengthy career with the series, and reflected on what American culture was like at the time she joined the show in 1995.

"When I started this job, Bill Clinton was president, O.J. Simpson was on trial for murder and Forrest Gump was about to win big at the Oscars,” Norville shared.

In the caption, she elaborated on why she decided to leave.

"30 years doing anything is quite the milestone and after 30 years anchoring Inside Edition, it’s time to do something new. I have declined the offer to continue at IE and will move on at the end of this season. It’s been an amazing ride and I will leave with gratitude for the people I have worked with and for - and the viewers who have watched," Norville wrote. "Twice before I made career moves for personal reasons (Chicago to NBC News in NY, CBS News to Inside Edition) and they were the right decisions. This decision is also motivated by family … and I know it it’s a good one. There’s lots more to come from me … just from a new place."

Doechii Recreates Isabella Rossellini’s Legendary 1992 Movie Look at the Grammys

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 9:26am

The 27-year-old is now a second Grammy winner, having won for Best Music Video. At the 2026 Grammys, Doechii had fans stunned with her second look of the night, which many felt mimicked Isabella Rossellini's looks in Death Becomes Her.

While presenting the award for Best Rap album, Doechii changed out of her red-carpet look, which consisted of a multi-colored corset gown by Roberto Cavalli and an equally dramatic 13-foot train.

Her second look consisted of a draped top adorned with multiple jewels, and a feathered A-line skirt by Givenchy to match the jewel tones.

Fans felt the look was oddly familiar and quickly deduced that the rapper might have been channeling Rosellini's character, Lisle von Rhuman, from the 1992 black comedy fantasy film. In Death Becomes Her, the actor and model was introduced wearing a halter-like top entirely made of strung together jewels. It was paired with a velvet red wrap skirt.

Rosellini's ensemble became iconic, screaming seduction, and fit into the movie's overall theme of beauty and youth. Death Becomes Her starred Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, and Rossellini.

The plot centers on narcissistic Madeline Ashton (Streep), whose acting career is spiraling downward. She invites her longtime friend and rival, Helen Sharp (Hawn), to her poorly received Broadway play. While Helen hopes to flaunt her seemingly perfect life, Madeline does what she does best: steals Helen’s wealthy surgeon fiancé, Ernest Menville (Willis).

The film then jumps ahead several years to reveal Madeline and Ernest trapped in a disastrous marriage, with Madeline grappling with the loss of her once-famous beauty. When she reunites with Helen, now successful and stunningly youthful, Madeline accepts a mysterious offer from Lisle von Rhuman to drink a potion promising eternal youth. The revelation of how Helen achieved her own ageless glow soon ignites a vicious, darkly comedic catfight between the two rivals.

New Michael Jackson Biopic 'Michael' Debuts First Official Trailer

Mon, 02/02/2026 - 9:10am

After months of avid fan speculation and the occasional teaser, Michael Jackson's new biographical drama, Michael, has officially received its first full-length trailer.

Taking viewers on a heartrending journey through the course of Jackson's career, the new trailer opens with a thunderous performance from the King of Pop at a sold-out stadium, performing his trademark dance moves to the beat of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."

"You're confident," the trailer's narrator, Nia Long's Katherine Jackson, says over the opening. "You're strong. You're beautiful. You're the greatest of all time."

The trailer then quickly devolves to a montage of a young Michael Jackson (Juliano Valdi) growing up with his family members in the Jackson Five, all the while his father (Colman Domingo) iterates how important it is that they use their musical talents to ascend further up in the world.

"You all want to work in the steel mill like me for the rest of your days?" Comingo's Joe Jackson asks his family. "'Cause I sure as hell don't. You willing to fight for it?"

Past this, the trailer then jumps to Jaafar Jackson portraying his real-life uncle Michael. As he grows older, the trailer shows Jackson beginning to question the iron grip of his father's managerial influence on his life, leading him to desire a solo career.

"I love my family," Jackson says at one point in the trailer. "I just want to do my own thing. I just have all these ideas in my head. I just got to get them out."

Directed by Training Day filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, Michael is set to arrive in theaters on April 24, 2026. Starring an all-star cast that includes the likes of Long, Domingo and Miles Teller, it also marks one of the rare musical biopics to feature the direct involvement of a surviving member of Jackson's family, as seen through the starring appearance of 29-year-old Jaafar Jackson in the title role.

The statement is met with confusion from Dante Falconeri (Domanic Zamprogna) and Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), as the implications begin to sink in.

Elsewhere in the preview, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) pleads with Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), exclaiming, “You have to get me out of here.”

Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gathers Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), and Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) before declaring, “Let's get started,”

One user wrote, “I never thought I’d say this, but I’m rooting for Ric to be ruthless as he was when he came on GH in 2002 😂 I want him to be petty as heck!”

A second user theorized the return of a previous General Hospital storyline might be in play, sharing, “So, is it memory mapping? Faison's memories in Cullum's brain and Peter's in Nathan's?”

A third user added, “Willow is on my first and last nerve, so sick of her, now she wants to play dirty just so she can get her kids back knowing she doesn’t deserve to be around a kitten let alone children, after what she did to baby Daisy, I hope these writers don’t drag this out it’s getting boring and utterly annoying, she caused all this mess herself and still continues to blame everyone else, girl bye!”

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams weeknights on Hulu.
