For Hayden Panettiere, while becoming a mother was always her dream, the role didn’t come naturally to her. Ahead of her tragic death at just 36, the actress opened up about her traumatic labor and delivery and her heartbreaking battle with postpartum depression. 

Panettiere and her ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, dated on and off for nearly a decade until their 2018 split. Their daughter Kaya, now 11, was born in 2014. Following her birth, Panettiere struggled to connect with Kaya, and it made her question whether she was a good enough mom. 

Simultaneously, she was battling an addiction to opioids and alcohol. And her and Klitschko’s relationship was rocky. She revealed in an emotional interview with Red Table Talk that relinquishing custody of Kaya to her ex was soul-crushing. Furthermore, it meant Kaya living full-time with her father in Ukraine.

“[Kaya] was almost 3 and it wasn’t fully my decision,” Panettiere explained of relinquishing custody to Klitschko. “In fact, I didn’t even know it was happening until she was already over there.”

When asked by the hosts to clarify how the custody decisions came to be, the actress gave more details. “I was gonna go work on myself, and I was gonna get better, and when I got better that things could change and she could come to me and I could have my time with her,” she explained. “But that didn’t happen.”

“I thought she was going over to visit him like she always did,” the actress says. “[Kaya] would go back and forth from me in Nashville and Ukraine, and then once she was over there, it was immediately ‘I want full custody of her,’ which was a shock to me. It was very upsetting signing those papers to give him full custody. It was like the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever, ever had to do in my life,” Panettiere added. “In a country where her uncle [Vitali Klitschko] is the mayor and they are icons over there, it’s a country where it’s very male-dominated. There wasn’t a heck of a lot I could do.”

Despite such, Panettiere said earlier this year that her relationship with Kaya was great. She also praised her ex as an amazing father. 

Hayden Panettiere was public about her personal struggles with prescription drugs and alcohol. As fans and loved ones process her tragic passing at the age of 36, many are reflecting on her journey to sobriety and how candid the late actress was about trying to stay sober.

In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Panettiere revealed she was just 15 when someone on her team began to offer her “happy pills” before she walked the red carpets. “They were to make me peppy during interviews,” she said. “I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction.”

She said that for a while, things were controlled.  “My saving grace is that I couldn’t be messy while on set and working,” she said, noting she was working on the TV show Heroes at the time. “But things kept getting out of control [off set]. And as I got older, the drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without.”

In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, wrote about how her struggles with substances grew out of control following the birth of her daughter, Kaya, and at the height of her battle with postpartum depression. 

She kept working, and things kept spiraling. In 2018, the year her hit show Nashville ended, she sent Kaya to live with her father, which devastated her, and her drinking worsened. Panettiere was hospitalized and diagnosed with jaundice. “Doctors told me my liver was going to give out,” she recalls. “I was no longer a 20-year-old who could just bounce right back.” She eventually entered a rehab program, which she completed in eight months. 

Still, she admitted that sobriety was a daily struggle. Not having daily physical access to her daughter also made things difficult, but she credited her love for her daughter as one of her motivations to live as healthy as possible.

Connie Britton is remembering Hayden Panettiere following her shocking death at the age of 36.

Britton, 59, and Panettiere co-starred on ABC’s Nashville from 2012 to 2018. On the series, the two played fictional country music singers in Nashville, Tennessee.

Britton stared as Rayna Jaymes, a country music icon whose stardom was beginning to fade, while Panettiere played rising younger star Juliette Barnes, who was determined to replace Rayna as the top singer in country music.

Britton shared a touching tribute to her former co-star on Instagram one day after Panettiere’s sudden death on Monday, Aug. 17.

“This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright,” Britton wrote alongside snaps of the pair from their time filming together. “I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔.”

On her Instagram Story, Britton also shared a sweet video of Panettiere singing and dancing with children from the African Children’s Choir.

The pair worked together for five seasons before Britton exited the series in 2017. Panettiere remained with the show through its sixth and final season in 2018.

Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her death to ABC News on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 16.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” Skip said in a statement.

He asked for privacy “as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”

Police told NBC News that they, “accompanied by EMS personnel, responded to a report of an unresponsive female” at around 1:50 p.m. ET on Sunday.

According to dispatch audio obtained by People, law enforcement officials were heard discussing an “overdose” and “cardiac arrest” around the time of Panettiere’s death.

“I don’t have any more information at this time, but it’s looking as though that is the case,” a representative for Panettiere told the publication.

Jason Ritter is opening up about the lasting connection he feels with his late father, beloved actor John Ritter, more than two decades after his death.

During a recent conversation with Hoda Kotb on the Joy 101 podcast, Jason reflected on losing his father and the moments that have made him feel his presence over the years.

John Ritter, best known for his role as Jack Tripper on Three’s Company, died unexpectedly on Sept. 11, 2003, at age 54 after suffering an aortic dissection.

Jason was 23 at the time, and he described his father as having a powerful presence in his life, a kind of “gravitational pull.” After John died, Jason said he wondered how the world could keep spinning without him.

But in the months that followed, Jason experienced moments that felt deeply personal.

He recalled seeing some of the most beautiful sunsets of his life after his father’s death. Then, on the anniversary of John’s passing, Jason remembered another striking moment.

“The whole sky was purple,” he said, noting that purple was his father’s favorite color.

Jason also said he still feels his father’s presence and sometimes intentionally reaches out to him when he needs guidance.

“I need you in this moment, Dad,” he recalled saying.

He explained that he channels his father in moments when he needs advice, drawing on the influence John had on him both personally and professionally.

Jason has also acknowledged the complicated experience of following his father into acting, saying during the conversation that he can’t help but compare himself to John.

More than 20 years after John’s death, however, Jason’s memories of his father extend far beyond his famous career. From beautiful sunsets to a sky that happened to be his favorite color, he continues to find moments that make his dad feel close.

The death of Hayden Panettiere, 36, is as astounding as it is devastating. The Heroes star recently published her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, and as she made the rounds on the interview circuit, she brought a new awareness and honesty to her life.

Her last Instagram post was a photo of her and Randall Slavin, taken 15 years ago. It showed a cheeky, effervescent young woman who was full of life, and the repost seemed to suggest that Panettiere was trying to get back to being that person.

As her loved ones mourn her, her Custody co-star, Viola Davis, shared her perspective on Panettiere in an emotional post, while also lamenting the tragic loss.

“What an amazing talent you were….so gifted,” Davis wrote. “Julius [ Tennon, Davis’s husband and Custody co-star] and I loved working with you….an old, wise soul with such a deep heart. I wish the world had more time with you because I had a burning curiosity about who you were becoming. I saw this beautiful Phoenix rising from the ashes. Your tests became your testimony, and your testimony became your legacy. You will be remembered.”

“Rest well, Hayden,” she added. “Sending healing prayers to your family, your daughter, and all who loved you. May they always speak your name…”

Catalina Sandino Moreno, who also starred in Custody, shared a photo of Panettiere on her Instagram stories, writing “My beautiful Hayden…my heart is completely broken,” along with four broken heart emojis.

As tributes continue to pour in from castmates and friends across her many projects, the messages are similar: a woman who overcame so much trauma, and was just beginning to step into a fuller, more honest version of herself. Authorities in Greenville, South Carolina, say the investigation into her death is ongoing, though they have not indicated any signs of foul play.

Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya Klitschko.

In 1975, one soft rock song accomplished something neither the band that recorded it nor its unusual record label would ever repeat.

“Fallin’ in Love” by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Aug. 23, 1975, beginning a one-week reign at the top.

It became the group’s only Hot 100 No. 1. But there was another first and last attached to the song: “Fallin’ in Love” was also the only pop No. 1 ever scored by Playboy Records.

Written by husband and wife Dan and Ann Hamilton, “Fallin’ in Love” appeared on the group’s 1975 album of the same name. The easygoing love song gave Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds their second top 10 hit, four years after “Don’t Pull Your Love” reached No. 4.

But there’s an odd wrinkle hidden inside the band’s name: Reynolds wasn’t actually in the group anymore when they recorded their only No. 1.

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds Hit No. 1 Without Reynolds

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds grew out of the T-Bones, the instrumental group that scored a No. 3 hit in 1966 with “No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach’s In),” a tune famously used in an Alka-Seltzer commercial.

Hamilton, Joe Frank Carollo and Tommy Reynolds subsequently formed Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, signing with Dunhill Records in 1970. Their breakthrough came the following year with “Don’t Pull Your Love,” which sold more than 1 million copies and reached No. 4 on the Hot 100.

Reynolds left the group in 1972 and was eventually replaced by Alan Dennison. After the group’s relationship with Dunhill ended, Hamilton, Carollo and Dennison secured a new deal with Playboy Records in 1974.

There was just one peculiar condition: They had to keep calling themselves Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds.

Music historian Fred Bronson recounts the unusual situation in “The Billboard Book of Number One Hits,” noting that the trio was actually Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison by the time “Fallin’ in Love” came along, despite continuing to record under the old name.

The arrangement didn’t bother Dennison, who explained to Bronson that he saw the group’s name as an established entity rather than a literal roll call of its members.

And the confusing name certainly didn’t hurt them on the charts.

‘Fallin’ in Love’ Became Playboy Records’ Only No. 1

Released in 1975, “Fallin’ in Love” climbed all the way to the top of the Hot 100 for the week of Aug. 23.

It was an impressive week to be No. 1. The Eagles’ “One of These Nights” sat at No. 2, followed by KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight,” the Bee Gees’ “Jive Talkin'” and Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy,” according to “The Billboard Book of Number One Hits.”

“Fallin’ in Love” also topped Billboard’s Easy Listening chart and reached No. 24 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. Internationally, it climbed to No. 2 in Canada and No. 33 in the U.K.

For Playboy Records, the song represented a high-water mark the label would never duplicate.

It was also the pinnacle for Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. The group followed “Fallin’ in Love” with “Winners and Losers,” which reached No. 21 in 1976. Subsequent singles failed to crack the top 40.

The band finally corrected its increasingly confusing name, becoming Hamilton, Joe Frank & Dennison for 1976’s Love & Conversation. They eventually disbanded permanently in 1980.

Twenty years after the original recording, “Fallin’ in Love” received another life when La Bouche covered it for the Eurodance duo’s 1995 debut album Sweet Dreams. Their version became a top 20 hit in several European countries and eventually reached No. 3 on Billboard’s Dance Club Play chart in the U.S.

But the original remains attached to an unusual double distinction. For one week in August 1975, Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds gave themselves their only Hot 100 No. 1 while simultaneously giving Playboy Records its only pop chart-topper.

Fifty-one years later, neither feat has been repeated.

Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death has sent shockwaves across Hollywood as fans pay tribute to the 36-year-old actress.

While an official cause of death has yet to be announced, many on social media are blaming Panettiere’s estranged mother, Lesley Vogle, for her tragic passing.

Vogle’s Instagram, which is dedicated to her art foundation, has been flooded with hateful and accusatory comments since her daughter’s death was announced on August 16, 2026.

“Her blood is on your hands,” one person wrote before another added, “My mum is exactly like you and I live with the consequences of it everyday. Hope you had a good sleep.”

On X (formerly Twitter) similar comments are everywhere. “An old Hollywood soap opera actress who wanted to live vicariously through her children and now sadly has no kids at all,” one tweet read.

Vogel’s oldest son, Jansen, died in 2023 from a heart condition at the age of 28.

Panettiere’s mom has yet to comment on her daughter’s death. However, in her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” Panettiere claimed that her mother did not want a relationship with her after she asked to stop working with her at the age of 19.

“She never pursued a real relationship with me as just a mother and daughter. Once the business aspect was gone, I hoped she would simply be my mom,” Panettiere said on Jay Shetty’s podcast. “The fact that she didn’t seem to want a relationship with me was a tough pill to swallow.”

Vogel shared her side of the story in May 2026, telling Page Six, “After 20 years of trauma, I took the advice of professionals and chose the no-contact route. As many parents of entertainment children [know], we are all too familiar with the painful observation of watching the self-destructive paths they sometimes choose. No parent hopes for this scenario; we want our children to be the best of themselves and live a peaceful, joyful life!”

She continued, “Sadly, this is out of our control. You cannot save someone who does not want to be saved. Radical acceptance is the most difficult challenge any parent must embrace. Unfortunately, I have seen a great deal of such in my life experience.”

Panettiere is survived by her parents, and 11-year-old daughter, Kaya.

“Oh, and one more thing: What’s your refund policy?”

We consumers find ourselves asking this very question when making any number of substantial purchases. That includes booking travel.

And now, one of the major airlines in the U.S. has just tightened a refund deadline down to the very second, which View from the Wing accurately describes as “brutal.”

For American Airlines going forward, the ticket must be issued at least 168 hours before departure to qualify for 24-hour free cancellation, and the cancellation must be completed no more than 24 hours after ticketing. Miss either cutoff by one recorded second and the cash refund is gone. Yeesh!

This also matters to consumers because those booking close to departure gain no refund protection, forcing reliance on non-transferable travel credits or paying change fees, as Inside Flyer pointed out Monday, August 17.

This reverses a customer benefit American introduced nine years ago. In 2017, American improved its policy by reducing the advance-purchase requirement from seven days to two, View from the Sky reported at the time. It has now gone back to the federal minimum.

The UTC conversion prevents American from having to decide whether the customer’s time zone, the departure airport’s time zone or some other local clock controls.

Rival and competing airlines can be more generous, meanwhile, and policies differ substantially, per View from the Wing. Here are a couple examples:

• Delta has no 7-day advance purchase requirement for qualifying tickets bought directly from the airline, with a risk-free cancellation period that generally runs until midnight the day after purchase, or midnight of the departure date — whichever comes first. In other words, ticket purchased just after midnight receives almost 48 hours rather than exactly 24.
• Alaska Airlines provides a full refund within 24 hours as long as travel begins more than 24 hours after purchase. This protects many genuinely last-minute purchases that American excludes.

On Monday, Aug. 17, the department, led by Sheriff Chris Nanos, shared an update via X.

“PCSD Search & Rescue deputies are responding to reports of human remains found in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard,” the message revealed. “The remains appear to have been at the location for an extended period of time. At this time, there is no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”

The PCSD also promised, “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Nancy, 84, was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31, and her family reported her missing on Feb. 1. Since then, the FBI has released video footage of a masked suspect on Nancy’s front porch and alleged ransom notes. Savannah has also offered $1 million, in addition to other reward money, for information leading to an arrest.

On Aug. 1, Savannah posted a desperate plea on Instagram on the six-month anniversary of her mom’s disappearance.

“Six months ago, someone took her out of her bed in the dead of night. We have lived every moment, every breath, and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since,” the NBC journalist began her message.

Savannah continued, “We are begging for help. We are desperate. We need someone to come forward. Someone knows something. Someone suspects something. Someone recognizes the writing in the ransom demand notes. Someone has noticed something different, strange, troubling or just unusual—perhaps with someone they deeply love. Perhaps they are afraid to come forward. Perhaps they are conflicted. Perhaps they are angry or upset for being in this situation. There is a way out—to tell what you know. You can do so anonymously.”

To conclude the post, the heartsick daughter vowed, “We will never stop looking for answer—and we will never stop looking for the light. We will always be hoping and praying and believing in the best of our world—in spite of circumstance. This is what our faith makes possible. Please. Bring her home. 💛.”

As of writing, however, investigators have not named a suspect in Nancy’s case.

Opening Up About Starting His Weight Loss

Last year, Schwarzenegger opened up about his weight loss journey while speaking at the Inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles. He revealed that the transformation, which included dropping 30 pounds and adding plenty of muscle, “was a big process.”

“I started in 2019, when I was living in Australia. I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities,” Christopher continued, PEOPLE reported. “I was like, ‘I want to go skydiving.’ And my friends were like, ‘Yeah, no shot.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I can’t skydive.’ “

Finding What Worked For Him

Schwarzenegger emphasized that finding his path to health was “not an overnight thing.”

During high school, he attempted different paths, including meal delivery services. However, they weren’t very successful.

“I was doing meal delivery things in high school, and I remember feeling like a weirdo when I was bringing weird lunches to school,” he recalled.

In adulthood, he had to try several different methodologies before finding one that worked for him.

“It took a lot of trial and error, and even still to this day … when you’re saying, oh, before and after photos … I don’t feel like I’m an after yet. I don’t feel like I’m at the point,” he stated.

One method he found to be successful was giving up bread during Lent.

“I lost 30 lbs. just through that,” he noted.

Maury Povich is looking back at some of the most shocking moments in daytime TV, especially the murder linked to the Jenny Jones Show that effectively changed how the era of TV was filmed.

Daytime TV talk shows were everything people could talk about in the ’90s, with multiple series spawning during the time like The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Jerry Springer Show, and Povich’s hit “You Are Not the Father” show, Maury. It was an era of drama, arguments, fights on set, deep-rooted secrets revealed, and chaos. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Povich recalls how an unfortunate incident on the Jenny Jones Show “changed everything.”

Hosted by Jenny Jones, the talk show aired in 1991 and started as any other, focused on cooking, fashion, and celebrities before it was reworked into a tabloid talk show. Its evolution during the second season led to a spike in ratings, as Jones tackled single-issue panel discussions with everyday guests.

While Povich’s show skyrocketed in ratings, so did Jones’s as it focused on biracial families, police wives, and juicy discussions that led to shock and awe. In 1995, the series released its most controversial episode, which Povich explains caused a dramatic shift.

“Things changed in the talk shows [with] the unfortunate killing of a guest on Jenny Jones,” Povich says. “That changed everything. Before that, no guest was ever approached about a subject they didn’t know they were going to be asked about.”

According to reports, “Revealing Same Sex Secret Crush” was an episode filmed by the Jenny Jones show but was never actually released. It was largely due to what occurred after it was filmed, as the episode focused on openly gay singles telling their straight friends they have a secret crush on them.

The episode had Scott Amedure, a 32-year-old gay man, talk about his crush on his 24-year-old straight friend, Jonathan Schmitz. Unknown to Amedure, Schmitz was brought on stage, with the former telling Jones, “You lied to me,” while trying to play it cool. As a result of what occurred on stage, Schmitz was angered and killed Amedure with a 12-gauge shotgun in Lake Orion, Michigan.

Povich recalls the incident having been “terribly embarrassing” and how the murder “changed the whole viewing of daytime TV.” It’s largely due to Jones and the staff having never told Amedure the whole truth of what was going to happen in the segment.

“We had 10, 12 pages of legal documents that each guest had to sign. We had to make sure that there were never questions that were going to be asked that they weren’t prepared for. And every single show, all of a sudden, had an attorney that was attached to the show,” he explains.

Schmitz was found guilty of first-degree murder, with him having told 9-1-1 that it was due to what occurred on the talk show. While Jones was seen as an example of “ambush television” and Amedure’s family filed a wrongful death and negligence suit, the courts found the show “had no duty to anticipate and prevent the act of murder committed by Schmitz.”

Hayden Panettiere told Connie Britton she loved her dress.

Britton smoothed a lock of Panettiere’s hair and told her she looked beautiful. The two were about to play bitter rivals on television. That was Parade’s fall TV cover shoot in 2012, when Panettiere was 23. She died Sunday at 36.

Her cause of death has not been determined. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said Monday that an autopsy found no signs of trauma that contributed to her death, and that the investigation is active and ongoing.

Callie Khouri, an Oscar winner for writing Thelma & Louise, created the show. Nashville cast Britton as a queen of country music losing her crown and Panettiere as the pop-country upstart taking it. After Heroes, Panettiere told Parade, it was “an uphill battle to be seen as anything besides the sweet, all-American cheerleader.”

The singing did not come easily. Panettiere had flirted with a pop career as a teenager and said she had always had very bad stage fright. She studied Carrie Underwood. A choreographer got her moves ready for the Grand Ole Opry. Juliette Barnes, her Nashville character, worried her too, a starlet she called snotty and disrespectful, and she said it would be mortifying if anyone thought that was her.

Britton was doing the same homework. At 45, she trained with a vocal coach before moving on to four hours a day with the record producer T-Bone Burnett. The first time people had to hear her sing, she told Parade, she thought she was going to be sick. Their songs came from Lee Brice, Elvis Costello and others. She moved to the city for the job, bringing two dogs and her 19-month-old son.

Television had gotten female relationships wrong plenty of times, Britton said, and the goal here was to get one right.

Britton said goodbye on Instagram on Monday. “This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright,” she wrote. She had no words for it, she said, only heartbreak, and she told her to sleep easy.

For most of us, the person we are during our college years is very different from who we are 10, 20 and 30 years after graduating. However, those years—typically between 17 and 20 years of age—are also when college students are expected to declare their majors.

Because we all change so much as we get older, it’s not uncommon for graduates to wonder if they made the wrong choice with what they studied at their university. That being said, are there certain college majors that lead to more regret than others?

To find out, we turned to two expert career coaches: Dr. Sam Adeyemi—an executive coach, the CEO of Sam Adeyemi, GLC, Inc. and the founder and executive director of Daystar Leadership Academy—and Fran Berrick, a career coach and the founder of Spearmint Coaching.

In addition to asking which college majors tend to lead to the most regret—and the most satisfaction—we also asked Dr. Adeyemi and Berrick what to do if you’re feeling dissatisfaction about the major you chose.

“No major guarantees satisfaction, and none guarantees regret either,” Berrick tells Parade.

Which 3 College Majors Lead to the Most Regret?

“This is a highly subjective question because there are several factors that contribute to each person’s experience of buyer’s remorse in their choice of college major,” Dr. Adeyemi tells Parade.

Because of this, he chose the three college majors that lead to the most regret based on the 2025 ZipRecruiter Graduate Survey. And interestingly, the three fields of study he named have two key things in common: they have vague career tracks, and they often lead to work in industries with low entry-level pay.

1. Political Science, International Relations and Public Policy

“The jobs related to these majors are public sector or nonprofit-sector based,” explains Dr. Adeyemi.

Because of this, “the pay is generally lower” compared to careers in sectors such as finance or tech.

“This creates financial pressure when graduates are saddled with student loans,” he adds. “Also, these majors do not have clear career paths, unlike courses in the health sciences and engineering.”

2. Communications, Media Studies and Public Relations

“Rapid advances in media technology have resulted in a decline in entry-level jobs for these majors,” shares Dr. Adeyemi.

“Moreover, graduates of English and Political Science tend to compete for the same jobs” as those who major in Media or Communications, he notes.

He also states that these majors “tend to lead to vague career tracks” and that entry-level jobs in media “typically have low starting salaries.”

3. Physical Sciences

“Majors in the physical sciences, like Chemistry, tend not to have clear career paths like their counterparts in more technical disciplines,” Dr. Adeyemi explains. “They may have to add extra degrees to go into academics or higher-paying and specialized scientific careers,” and these degrees can be expensive.

Additionally, in the Physical Sciences, “entry-level salaries tend to be low. This does not help those carrying the burden of student loans.”

Which 3 College Majors Lead to the Most Satisfaction?

Here are three focuses that career coaches recommend.

1. Healthcare-related majors

Dr. Adeyemi notes that majors in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry or Nursing “offer clear career paths” as well as a structured transition from school to professional practice.

“They have options for where to work, from schools and clinics to big hospitals,” he adds. “Their salaries are also good. Moreover, they derive fulfillment from seeing the direct impact of their care on their patients.”

Berrick agrees, sharing that demand for healthcare workers “is strong and stable, tied to an aging population and hiring has held up better than almost any other field. Grads tend to feel good about their choice because the job market consistently validates it.”

2. Any major paired with data or tech fluency

“It’s less about the major and more about the layer on top of it,” explains Berrick. “Grads who build comfort with data and technical tools regardless of what they studied are increasingly the ones getting hired and staying satisfied, because they have flexibility built in.”

3. Engineering

“There is a high demand for engineering majors across several industries,” explains Dr. Adeyemi. “Also, their training allows them to pivot into other careers like tech, marketing and management. They have high starting salaries and derive fulfillment from solving real-world problems.”

What To Do if You Regret Your Major: 4 Steps

Career coaches reveal what steps you can take.

1. Reframe regret

“What shapes career satisfaction down the line isn’t the major itself, but how someone applies it and keeps growing afterward,” says Berrick. “The real story is about skill-building and adaptability, not which academic track someone picked for four years.”

She adds that many college graduates wind up working in jobs unrelated to their major, “which tells you the major is rarely the deciding factor in career satisfaction.”

2. Audit your transferable skills

If you are feeling regret over your major, ask yourself what else you can do with the skills you learned while getting your degree.

“Writing, analysis, communication and problem-solving translate across nearly every industry,” shares Berrick. “Most people just haven’t taken inventory of what they’ve built in all aspects of their academic career.”

3. Take a test to discover your strengths

“Start by taking strength and personality tests online to identify your area of genius,” advises Dr. Adeyemi. “Then do certification programs or serve as an apprentice to someone in order to acquire skills that can help you solve problems.”

4. Learn a new skill that’s in demand

“You don’t need a new degree to pivot,” says Berrick.

Instead, you might consider taking an online or local course to learn a valuable skill, such as basic data fluency or technical tool proficiency.

Having certification in a skill like these “on top of your existing major can open doors fast,” she says.

Get ready for a ‘90s revival on Broadway. Girls’ star Lena Dunham and the Grammy-nominated ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer Carly Rae Jepsen are bringing 10 Things I Hate About You to the stage soon.

Based on the iconic teen rom-com starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Larisa Oleynik, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the new musical will open for previews in exactly one year: On August 17, 2027.

While fans might know Dunham as the star of HBO’s Girls, she’s also a writer, director, and producer. The quadruple-threat will use her writing prowess to adapt the musical’s book. Jessica Huang will co-write with Dunham. 

Jepsen will handle the musical aspect of this Broadway show, writing the tunes and the lyrics with Ethan Gruska. Director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and music supervisor Tom Kitt will join the team. Mike Bosner will produce. Bosner previously produced ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball’ and ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.’

While the film’s followers might hope for Stiles’s return in some way, there is no information about who will star in the upcoming show.

As fans of the movie already know, 10 Things I Hate About You already has deep theatrical roots. The big-screen 1999 blockbuster was based on Shakespeare’s ‘Taming of the Shrew,’ making the new musical an adaptation of an adaptation.

After the ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ musical’s official Instagram page posted the announcement, fans jumped on the chance to give their opinions of the revamped movie-turned-soon-to-be-Broadway hit.

One commenter wrote, “The way a Carly Rae Jepsen/Lena Dunham interpretation of Kat’s poem has the potential to take one leading lady straight to the Tony’s,” as others added, “This is a wish I’d ask a genie for”, “This feels like it was made in a lab for my brain,” and “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.”

And then there was this simple statement that pretty much summed it all up: “90s kids are thrilled.”
