1973 ‘Best American Rock Song’ Ranked Best Classic Rock Needle Drop in Film
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird,” which was just named the greatest American rock song, is also one of the most utilized classic rock songs in film. With its storytelling lyrics, slow build to explosive payoff, and legendary guitar solo, the Southern rock hit makes for the grandest companion to pivotal scenes on the big screen.
American Songwriter gets it. The outlet recently published a roundup of the best uses of classic rock songs in movies and, of course, “Free Bird” made their selective list. The particular film they cite for using the song to keen effect is Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Courtesy of 20th Century Fox
Released in 2014 and directed by Matthew Vaughn, the action thriller stars Taron Egerton and Colin Firth as members of a stylish spy outfit battling a global threat in the form of a crazed tech bro, played by Samuel L. Jackson. The film’s action is brutal yet classy, creative yet classic, and entirely on display in the killer church scene.
A wildly thrilling, though incredibly bloody, gun fight in a house of worship, the scene mixes hand-to-hand combat and weapons mayhem with slick choreography. It’s basically a gauntlet Firth’s immaculately dressed agent has to kick butt through. All the while, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s tune provides the soundtrack. The scene is too brutal to post here, but you can watch the whole battle royale here.
Should you want a lighter take on “Free Bird”-in-film, we highly recommend Elizabethtown. Despite playing out like a dilutedJerry Maguire knockoff (too harsh?), Cameron Crowe’s 2005 rom-com is still a decent watch — specifically because of its soundtrack, which features a funeral concert complete with “Free Bird” and an actual bird on fire.
We also must point out that AS left off THE actual best use of ’70s classic rock in film from their list. In addition to Kingsman and “Free Bird,” the outlet cites Almost Famousand Elton John's “Tiny Dancer,” and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2and Cat Stevens' “Father and Son.” Great picks. But where is Reservoir Dogs and Stealers Wheel’s “Stuck in the Middle With You”?
The 1972 hit soundtracks a significant tonal shift in Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 crime thriller about a group of colorful bank robbers who start to turn on each other one by one. As Michael Madsen’s Mr. Blonde begins a fit of torture on a captured cop, he tunes the radio to his favorite song, “Stuck in the Middle With You,” of course, then goes about dancing and making light of a truly dark switchblade moment. Watch it here.
Now, we get it: These things are highly subjective and everyone has their own take on the best use of classic rock in movies. So, shout-out your favorite classic rock cine-tune moment in the comments. And don't miss out on the band's new music video for "Free Bird."
Kingsman: The Secret Service is streaming on Hulu, Elizabethtown is streaming for free on Pluto, and Reservoir Dogs is streaming on Peacock.

‘Catching Breast Cancer Early at 31 Years Old Saved My Life—Here’s What I Wish Everyone Knew About Early Detection’
While deaths from breast cancer have declined greatly in the U.S. (a whopping 44% since 1989), breast cancer diagnoses are unfortunately on the rise, according to the American Cancer Society.
As with any cancer, early diagnosis is key to overcoming breast cancer. When it's caught early, the five-year survival rate is greater than 90%. (This means that more than 90% of women diagnosed with stage 1 or stage 2 breast cancer live at least five years after diagnosis, and typically live much longer than five years past diagnosis). But the later breast cancer is diagnosed, the lower the survival rate is. Once cancer has spread beyond the breast tissue, the five-year survival rate drops to 31%.

It’s recommended that women of average risk for breast cancer get regular mammograms from age 40 to 74. But if you have a family history of breast cancer, it’s recommended to be screened earlier. Lucy Abrams, a therapist who lives in Ohio, knows this firsthand. Here, she shares her health journey and what she wants everyone to know about early breast cancer detection, especially if you have a genetic predisposition.

Lucy Abrams.
The Importance of Knowing Your RiskAbrams knew from a relatively young age that she had a family history of breast cancer.
“A bunch of women on my mom’s side of the family had breast cancer, so my mom ended up getting genetic testing done when she was 40 to find out if she had [a mutation of] the BRCA1 gene,” she tells Parade.
BRCA1 (BReast CAncer gene 1) and BRCA2 (BReast CAncer gene 2) are genes that produce proteins that help repair damaged DNA. Everyone has two copies of each gene, one copy inherited from each parent. People who inherit a mutation of one of these genes have an increased risk of several types of cancer, including breast cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, 60% of women who inherit a harmful change in BRCA1 or BRCA2 will develop breast cancer.

When Abrams’ mom found out she had a mutated BRAC1 gene, Abrams says that her doctor told her to get tested for the gene when she was 25. “There was a 50% chance I would have the [mutated] gene and if I had it, the risk of getting breast cancer was high,” Abrams explains.
Knowing this, she followed the doctors’ advice and underwent genetic testing. Like her mom, Abrams also ended up having a mutation of the BRCA1 gene. “Because of this, I knew that it was really important for me to stay on top of my breast cancer screenings,” Abrams shares.
In the summer of 2023, she went for a routine doctor’s appointment. She had kept up with getting regular mammograms to screen for breast cancer, only missing one. When her doctor did a breast exam, she felt a lump and recommended Abrams get a mammogram and ultrasound.

During the ultrasound, the radiologist found a tumor, which was sent to be biopsied. The tumor turned out to be breast cancer. “I first found out through a message in MyChart. It said it was an invasive ductal carcinoma, which I immediately Googled,” Abrams says. Her doctor called her an hour later to confirm and explain the diagnosis.
As anyone would be, Abrams was shaken by the news. She was only 31 and was in the middle of planning her wedding. Even though she had a family history of breast cancer, she had been staying on top of screenings and doctor’s appointments, doing everything she could to look after her health. It didn’t seem fair. It wasn’t fair.
“My mom and fiancé went with me to my doctor’s appointment the following week, which is where I was given my prognosis and cancer stage. I had stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC),” Abrams says.
Drastic Highs and LowsReceiving a breast cancer diagnosis completely altered Abrams’ life.
“Everything was happening really fast,” Abrams tells Parade. She and her fiancé moved into Abrams’ parents’ house to be closer to Cleveland Clinic, where Abrams was being treated.
Before she had time to process her diagnosis, her calendar was filled with appointments for chemotherapy.
“Originally, the treatment plan was for me to do 16 rounds of chemo and then have a double mastectomy,” Abrams says. She also had to consider questions she had never thought about before, such as whether she wanted to freeze and preserve her eggs or if she wanted to meet with a plastic surgeon after her double mastectomy.
And though she loved her job as a therapist, chemo completely wiped Abrams out and she had to cut her client list way down.
“I had to reprioritize everything, which was really hard,” she says. Though there were many hard moments, there were some bright ones too, such as Abrams’ wedding day. “We got married in Scotland surrounded by our immediate family and close friends, which was really great,” she shares.
Lucy Abrams
Abrams hit her hardest moment after nine rounds of chemo. “I started getting really dizzy, to the point where I wasn’t even able to make it up the stairs. I didn’t even feel human anymore,” she says. Abrams met with her oncologist and underwent MRIs, which showed that her tumor was completely gone.
Given this improvement, Abrams’ oncologist told her she didn’t have to continue chemo. “The chemo had completely killed the cancer, which is awesome,” Abrams says. This was December 2023, at which point she was declared completely cancer-free.
Though the chemo worked, Abrams moved forward with getting a double mastectomy. “Because of the genetic mutation, my plan was always to get a double mastectomy when I was 40 because my cancer risk was so high,” Abrams explains, adding that getting cancer meant she would just do it earlier than planned.
She also plans to get a hysterectomy in the next few years to eliminate the body’s primary source of estrogen, which will lower her risk of getting breast cancer again.
What She Wants Everyone To KnowNow, at 34, Abrams is cancer-free. This is largely because she knew her risk and took action by staying on top of regular cancer screenings and doctors’ appointments. That’s how her cancer was caught early.
“What I hope people will take away the most from my story is to not skip cancer screenings,” Abrams says. “Some people don’t want to be screened for cancer because they don’t want to know if they have it, but it’s way less scary to know if you have cancer than to not know and for it to get worse."
Abrams also stresses that it’s important to advocate for yourself. If you feel like something is “off” with your body, speak up. If your doctor doesn’t take it seriously, seek out a second opinion. No one knows your body better than you.
If you don’t know if breast cancer runs in your family, consider discussing genetic testing with your primary care doctor. The more you know about your body, the more proactive you can be in terms of your health. For Abrams, this intel saved her life. It just might save yours, too.

1985 Hit Ranked Among ‘Greatest Power Ballads’ of All Time Hit No. 1 41 Years Later
In 1985, Mötley Crüe released a song that would go on to become emblematic of the power ballad era.
Their track, "Home Sweet Home," has since been ranked among the greatest power ballads of all time by Ultimate Classic Rock, thanks to its emotional resonance and enduring popularity.
Originally featured on the album Theatre of Pain, the song stood out for its softer, more introspective tone, which proved a stark contrast to the band's harder-edged image. Built around a piano melody and a soaring vocal performance, "Home Sweet Home" quickly became a fan favorite, capturing themes of longing, life on the road and the desire to return to something familiar.
While it was a major hit in the '80s, it peaked at No. 89 on the Billboard Hot 100. But, it's story didn't stop there.
More than four decades later, the track experienced an unexpected resurgence when the band recorded a new version, a collaboration with country legend Dolly Parton. Released in 2025, the updated rendition introduced the song to a new audience and propelled it to No. 1 on the MediaBase Classic Rock Songs chart, marking a remarkable full-circle moment.
"Dolly looked at me and said, 'I really love these lyrics,'" Mötley Crue bassist and "Home Sweet Home" songwriter told Forbes. "This was one of her husband Carl's favorite songs. And she goes, in her very sweet southern accent, 'When you're young, you want to get as far away from home as possible. You want to chase those dreams. You want to chase whatever you want to do. And then once you get there, it's the journey getting back to your roots.' I was like, 'No one's ever explained my lyrics to me that clear.' That just touched me on so many levels."
The crossover success highlighted the song's universal appeal and the enduring draw of the beloved country star. Stripped down or reimagined, its message remains just as powerful, resonating with listeners across genres and generations. Mötley Crüe and Dolly Parton even made an official music video for the new version of the song.
Few songs achieve that kind of longevity, let alone return to the top of the charts decades after their debut.
"It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe's 40th Anniversary re-release of 'Home Sweet Home,'" Dolly shared on her website. "I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic."
Today, "Home Sweet Home" stands as a timeless classic, one that not only defined an era, but proved its staying power 41 years later with a whole new audience.

1998 ‘Days of Our Lives’ Departure Ended a Record-Breaking Run of Six Distinct Roles That Changed Daytime TV Forever
On this day in 1998, Eileen Davidson final appearance in her original five-year run as Kristen Blake-DiMera on Days of Our Lives.
Davidson joined the soap in 1993 as social worker Kristen Blake. After Kristen was saved from a mugging by John Black (Drake Hogestyn), she was grateful, until she learned his identity and that he was the longtime rival of her father, Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo). Although Kristen tried to keep her distance, Alice Horton (Frances Reid) helped bring the pair together at the Horton cabin, where they fell in love.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES -- Season 29 -- Pictured: (l-r) Drake Hogestyn as John Black, Eileen Davidson as Kristen Blake, Thaao Penghlis as Tony DiMera (Photo by Chris Haston/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images)Their romance faced constant obstacles, including Kristen’s complicated marriage to Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis). Believing John belonged with Marlena, Kristen honored Stefano’s ‘dying wish’ and married Tony after learning Belle was John’s biological daughter, not Roman Brady’s (Wayne Northrop).
Kristen’s marriage to Tony eventually ended, allowing her to reunite with John. Believing a medical issue may leave her infertile, Kristen rushed to start a family with him, and the couple conceived a child, which would change the trajectory of their lives forever.
Things quickly change for the couple again, when Marlena was kidnapped by Stefano and taken to Paris. Kristen followed along in the search for Marlena, but after an unexpected explosion killed Kristen’s mother Rachel Blake and injured her, Kristen secretly lost the baby John believed they were expecting.

Stefano then orchestrated one of the soap’s most infamous twists: hiring a pregnant woman to impersonate Kristen and hand over her newborn as Kristen and John’s child. That woman was Susan Banks, launching Davidson’s fan-favorite multi-role era.
In a February 1997 interview with TV Guide, Davidson explained that she was originally supposed to leave, revealing, “My contract was up in April, and I've extended it for a few more months because they wanted to go with the story a little bit more. You know Jim Reilly. I wouldn't put anything past that man. Anything could happen. I mean, it would be fantastic if Susan just takes over Kristen's life.”
During the storyline, Davidson also played the role of Sister Mary Moira Banks, Penelope Kent, and their brother Thomas Banks, for a total of six distinct parts.
Kristen’s lies were eventually exposed. Susan ultimately traded Kristen’s freedom for her own, while Kristen famously screamed “No!” after realizing Marlena and John had once again reunited and would live happily ever after.
After leaving Days, Davidson returned to The Young and the Restless as Ashley Abbott. Years of fan speculation ended in 2012 when she reprised her Kristen once again.

The role was later recast with Stacy Haiduk taking over as Kristen and Susan. Haiduk has since earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama series.
Recent reports indicate the role of Kristen will once again be rested, with Haiduk expected to leave at the end of this year.
Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.

2017 True-Story Rom-Com Is Now Ranked Among Cinema’s All-Time Greats
The hit 2017 romantic comedy, The Big Sick, starring Kumail Nanjiani, was inspired by the start of his relationship with his wife of 19 years, Emily V. Gordon.
The film, which Rotten Tomatoes ranked as the 130th best movie of all time, focuses on Kumail as he navigates interfaith and interracial dating with Emily, played by Zoe Kazan. Kumail's feelings deepen when Emily is struck by a sudden illness, and doctors decide the best course of action is for her to be in a medically induced coma.
In a February 2018 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Nanjiani and Gordon discussed co-writing the movie, which snagged them an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. According to Nanjiani, the script follows their real-life love story closely.
"Typical boy, meets girl, boy keeps girls secret from family because he's supposed to get arranged married and then she gets really sick and has to be put into a coma story," quipped Nanjiani in the interview.
Nanjiani also shared how he revealed he was dating Emily to his parents in real life. He said that he let it slip out that he was seeing someone who was not of his family's Muslim faith while Gordon was in her coma.
"One time they called and I just answered and I think I was just too tired and I think I just cried on the phone and I said, 'I'm really sorry to tell you this, but I've been dating this girl and she's in a coma right now. She's very, very sick.' And my mom's initial reaction immediately was like, 'Is she going to be okay?'" recalled the comedian.
Nanjiani said after Gordon recovered, his mother told him he needed to either end their relationship or "get married to her." The couple wed just months after Gordon was discharged from the hospital.
"The moment that she went under [for the medically induced coma], I remember looking at her and saying if she comes out of this we're going to get married. And I know it sounds made-up," said Nanjiani during the CBSSunday Morning interview.
Legendary ’70s Actor, Who Starred in ‘Best Movie of All Time,’ Turns 84
Al Pacino emerged as one of Hollywood's defining forces in the 1970s and is now celebrating a personal milestone.
Born on April 25, 1940, in East Harlem, New York, only a few could have predicted that Alfredo James Pacino, later widely recognized by the nickname "Al,” would go on to become one of the acclaimed actors of his generation.
As the award-winning star turns 84, here’s a look back at his most iconic project that cemented his legacy in cinema history.
Al Pacino’s Legendary Film Still Ranked Among the ‘Best Movies of All Time’Rotten Tomatoes, a known online review aggregation website for film and television, released its list of the 300 highest-rated movies of all time.
Al Pacino and Lee Strasberg in the movie 'The Godfather: Part II'The rankings are based on their signature Tomatometer score and the reviews shared by both professional critics and Rotten Tomatoes users.
While the list showcased a mix of classic and modern films spanning a diverse range of genres, The Godfather secured the top spot, earning the title of “the Best Movie of All Time.”
Directed by the renowned filmmaker Francis Coppola, it scored 97 percent on the Tomatometer, which means the movie received mostly positive reviews from professional film critics and a 98 percent Popcornmeter score, which was based on how many verified audience members “liked” the film after watching it.
Critics' reviews described it as “not only grand entertainment, but an emotional and intellectual experience to rival any in cinema.”
Moreover, one critic called The Godfather a “masterfully conducted orchestra,” praising the director’s “meticulously crafted” and extraordinary storytelling along with its stellar cast.
In addition, the public also praised how the movie portrayed the characters brought to life by lead stars Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, with the latter widely regarded for delivering one of his “greatest acting performances.”
The Godfather is an epic gangster and crime drama film that focuses on the transformation of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), the youngest son of Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), the patriarch of the Corleone crime family, and his descent into becoming the head of the mafia.
Michael Corleone not only followed in his father’s footsteps but took over his father’s criminal empire.
Pacino’s remarkable performance earned him a major nomination, among which was the Best Supporting Actor at the 45th Academy Awards, along with co-stars James Caan and Robert Duvall, as well as The Heartbreak Kid star Eddie Albert, but he lost to Joel Grey for his role in Cabaret.
At the time, Pacino famously boycotted his Oscar nomination, noting that he was in a “rebellious” and “uncomfortable” phase of his career.
Moreover, he also felt uneasy being part of the Hollywood awards environment and was afraid and overwhelmed by sudden attention and fame.
“I was young, younger than even my years. I was young in terms of the newness of all this,” he told The New York Times, adding, “It was the old shot-out-of-a-cannon syndrome. And it’s connected to drugs and those kinds of things, which I was engaged in back there, and I think that had a lot to do with it. I was just unaware of things back then.”
On the other hand, The Godfather’ssuccess resulted in a trilogy with the second part, released in 1974, acting as both a prequel and sequel, while the third part, released in 1990, concludes the story.

Carrie Underwood Could Live Off-Grid on Her Tennessee Farm
American Idol winner Carrie Underwood has a large farm in Tennessee that she and her family could live off of if they chose to live off grid.
"I think if I had to, I could be self-sustained at home," Underwood, 43, told Fox News Digital. "I love growing things. If I had all the time in the world, I would… not really need to go to the grocery store for too much. But it’s a lot of fun. You know, I love our chickens. We have cows, we have sheep, we have donkeys. We have horses. I have my garden, and it's a great way to connect with the earth. That's my contribution to the family."
"I feel like a lot of other responsibilities are mine," Underwood continued. "We have a farm manager who is wonderful… He's taking care of my sheep while I'm gone. He looks after the horses and things like that. We do as much as we can, but I'm obviously not there all the time, and neither is my husband, so we do have help."
Underwood along with her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two sons spend most of their time in Tennessee as a family. The "Before He Cheats" singer often shares updates from the farm on social media, whether it's welcoming a new baby goat or growing impressive crops.
While Underwood hasn't mentioned any plans to step away from the spotlight, she did make it clear that her priority in life is her family.
"I hope, more than anything, that's what they take away from me and that's what they remember about me. Like she was mom, and every once in a while she goes and gets on stage," she told Fox News Digital.
Underwood is a judge on American Idol Season 24, which premiered in January. The finale is set to air on Monday, May 11.

Katie Couric Makes Rare Comments About Matt Lauer’s Accuser, Brooke Nevils
Katie Couric is speaking out about Brooke Nevils, the woman who accused former Today anchor Matt Lauer of rape.
Couric, 69, and Lauer, 68, worked as co-anchors on the iconic morning show for nine years. While Couric departed the show in 2006, the duo was widely known for their tight relationship and strong on-screen chemistry. However, Couric made it clear in a recent appearance that she has nothing but sympathy for Nevils, who alleged she was raped in Lauer’s Sochi hotel room in 2014.
“I feel terrible for her,” Couric said at the City Harvest Presents The 2026 Gala: Shaken, Not Stirred, Page Six reported. “I think she’s very brave to write the book.”
Couric was referring to Nevils' book Unspeakable Things, which was published back in February.
Page Six also reached out to Lauer's lawyer for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

What Did Brooke Nevils Say About Lauer in Her Book?Nevils, who previously worked at Today, shared in Unspeakable Things that she went to Lauer’s hotel room in Sochi “drunk and alone.” There, he “insisted on having anal sex” with her. She woke up with pain that was “undeniable,” and it “hurt to walk,” she said in a book excerpt published in The Cut.
Lauer maintained that their relationship was “consensual” and called it “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense,” Variety reported.
In response to her initial allegations of rape, NBC responded with a statement that read: “Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific, and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague.”
Where is Matt Lauer These Days?Lauer served as co-anchor on Today until 2017, when he was terminated. These days, he mostly flies under the radar. However, he was recently spotted with his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, in Sag Harbor, New York, on Monday, March 23, PEOPLE reported. The rare sighting of the duo, who prefer to keep a low profile, came almost two months after the release of Nevils' memoir.

'Storage Wars' Star Was 'Terrified for His Life' Before Shocking Death, Co-Stars Say
Darrell Sheets rose to fame on A&E's Storage Wars. On April 22, TMZ reported that Sheets had died by apparent suicide at 67. Over the past couple of days, Sheets' reality television co-stars have spoken out about his sudden death amid reports that he had been been a victim of cyberbullying.
In a new interview, Laura and Dan Dotson spoke out about what Sheets—who left Storage Wars in 2023 after 15 seasons—had been going through prior to his death.
"His family told us that this has been happening for three years," Laura told Us Weekly. "[It happens to] even strong men that you think aren’t gonna get their feelings hurt. Cyberbullying is a real thing. This made him feel less than, and it really obviously bothered him. He was terrified for his life [and] for the people around him. He didn’t know why he was being targeted."
"He had other things also," Dotson continued. "His health and certain things that might have contributed to [his death]. Relationships, love interests and stuff that would go up and down, but [he] truly, truly was a wonderful, loving person who believed in God."
A&E's Rene Nezhoda previously spoke out what was going on behind the scenes in Sheets' life.
"He had a guy like really, really tormenting him lately on cyberbullying,” Nezhoda said in a video posted to Instagram. "Just because you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us. It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about. Also, it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody."
"Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that’s been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope they look into that guy, and it’s just not a pass, because it’s just not right, guys… You never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through, and what you might push them through," he continued.
Authorities are investigating the cyberbullying claims.
"The Lake Havasu City Police Department [of Arizona] is aware of the cyberbullying accusations, and it is a part of the current active investigation," Sgt. Kyle Ridgway told Entertainment Weekly.

Jamie Lynn Spears, 35, Celebrates Daughter’s High School Graduation: See How Similar They Look
Jamie Lynn Spears posted to Instagram on April 24, speaking about her daughter Maddie’s high school graduation, which is coming up soon. The 35-year-old found out she was pregnant with Maddie, her first child, when she was a teenager filming Zoey 101 on Nickelodeon. She welcomed her to the world with her ex-boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, in June 2008.
“Welp….the grad invites are sent, the cap and gown arrived, and the last regular day of school is here,” the actress said in this Instagram post, which contains several photos of her daughter, who looks just like her. “I guess the lovely state of denial that I forced myself to be in has to end, bc the reality of time is coming at me like a freight train. I know the saying 'the days are long, but the years are short' is one of the most cliche sayings, bc it’s said so much, but I now know that cliches are only said so much bc they continue to ring true in every lifetime throughout the test of time."
View this post on InstagramShe continued, “Having the privilege of watching your children grow up is one of the most beautiful & fulfilling things we can experience as humans, and I am so grateful for each every up & down moment throughout the journey of motherhood this far. It’s bittersweet, bc you’re so proud of everything they have accomplished this far, and so excited to watch everything that their future will bring, while also longing for them to stay your baby forever.”

Spears also reflected on how fortunate she was, and encouraged others to enjoy their time with their children while they can. “I know I’m one of luckiest mamas in the world, so I’ll stop my rambling now, until I completely lose it on graduation day," she said. "I’ll leave ya with another cliche, go love on your babies, and really REALLY try to be present, no matter what else is going on in your professional or personal life, bc you will NEVER regret spending time with your kids.”
One commenter on the post said, “Mama cried reading this. Still clinging to long days. Congrats to Maddie and hugs to you.” Another pointed out that her daughter “looks so much like you!”

Maura Higgins' net worth in 2026 is growing by the day.
The Traitors alum, who will compete on Dancing With the StarsSeason 35, has reportedly been fielding actual acting roles in addition to being a reality show stalwart.
“[There’s] a lot of exciting conversations with designers. Obviously, I really love fashion, so there’s a lot happening around that, which I literally could scream about. [I’m] also having exciting conversations with producers and execs in the scripted world, which could be very different for me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s stuff happening that I could have only ever dreamt of, things that are on my vision board that I probably never thought would become a reality.”

While she was cagey about specifics, a source spilled on some scripted possibilities.
"Maura is keeping her cards close to her chest, but she couldn’t help but tell pals she’s reading scripts for Disney," a loose-lipped insider told The Sun. "Everyone—including Maura—is stunned at how well her career in the U.S. is going. This is just the beginning."
It's great that her career is going well, because Higgins is a pretty big spender. The Sun estimates that the stunner's glam squad can cost roughly $10,000 per day—and that's without factoring in travel costs.

How does Maura Higgins make money? Maura Higgins on "Love Island" in 2019ITV
Higgins makes the bulk of her bucks from reality TV.
In addition to her stateside star turn on The Traitors, as a contestant on Love Island Season 5 in 2019, she likely made about $500 per week, which isn't much—but it was a worthwhile investment considering how much money she's made since first appearing on the show.
She's since gone on to host Love Island USA: Aftersun, Love Island Games: Aftersun and Glow Up. Higgins has also competed on other shows including Cooking With the Stars, Dancing on Ice and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
Dancing on Ice contestants reportedly earn $27,000 and $135,000.

While salaries for I'm a Celebrity... can vary from celebrity to celebrity and season to season, some contestants reportedly make more than $30,000 per day, and Higgins lasted 19 days on the show. That means, if she commanded the $30,000 daily rate, she would've made $570,000.
She starred in her first movie, The Spin, in February 2026.

Her work as an influencer and brand endorser is also particularly lucrative.
Higgins previously had a makeup line with Irish brand Inglot Cosmetics and appeared in videos for makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic (famous for his work with Kim Kardashian) promoting his makeup line. She currently has her own eyelash line at Primark and is one of the faces of MAC Cosmetics in Ireland and the U.K. Outside of the beauty realm, Higgins has appeared in ads for Just Eat (a food and restaurant delivery service) and Greggs (a sandwich cafe). While her paydays for each aren't public, chances are she didn't work for cheap!
According to The Sun, she commanded about $7,000 per sponsored Instagram post back in 2023 when she had 3.7 million Instagram followers, and that payday is likely substantially higher now: She now has 4.3 million followers thanks to the success of The Traitors.
The Sun also reported in February 2026 that Higgins landed a six-figure deal with Victoria's Secret, though the specific figures weren't revealed. She previously had a deal with Ann Summers, a sex toy and lingerie chain, valued at about $676,000.

That said, we know she'll at least make the $125,000 contestants receive for 20 hours per week of training before the season starts.
From there, she'll make $10,000 for weeks three and four, $15,000 for week five, $20,000 each for weeks six and seven and $30,000 each for weeks eight and nine. If she makes it to the semi-finals and season finale, she'll get an additional $50,000 for each of those weeks.

Cyndi Lauper is a Grammy-award winning artist known for her hit songs like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time” and “True Colors.” She has sold over 50 million records worldwide and has recently finished her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Tour, which she called her farewell tour.
“It’s an arena tour, which I haven’t done in a long time,” she told USA Today in 2024. “I just want to thank everybody, say goodbye, celebrate with fans that have been so loyal and sweet and were there for every crazy-ass concert or thing that I did and I’m excited about doing it. I don’t think physically in another five years I will be as good, but now I can do it, you know?”
Although the farewell tour has ended, Lauper isn’t done performing yet. She has just launched her first Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, meant for fans who missed the tour.

1968 Coming-of-Age Hit That Launched a Future Star Was No. 1 58 Years Ago Today
A 1968 coming-of-age hit that helped launch one of Hollywood’s most unlikely stars was the No. 1 movie in America 58 years ago today.
That film is The Graduate, which topped the box office from March 7 through June 12, 1968, and went on to become the highest-grossing movie of the year.
Directed by Mike Nichols, the film starred Dustin Hoffman as Benjamin Braddock, a recent college graduate drifting through early adulthood when he becomes entangled in an affair with an older married woman, Mrs. Robinson, played by Anne Bancroft. The story takes a turn when Benjamin falls for her daughter, Elaine, played by Katharine Ross.
At the time, Hoffman was an unlikely leading man, but the role turned him into a star and helped redefine what a Hollywood leading actor could look like. The film itself struck a chord with audiences for its portrayal of post-college uncertainty and generational disillusionment, themes that still resonate decades later.
Released in late 1967, The Graduate became a box office phenomenon, grossing more than $100 million domestically and eventually earning seven Academy Award nominations. Nichols won the Oscar for Best Director, cementing the film’s place in Hollywood history.
Its legacy has only grown over time. The American Film Institute ranked The Graduate among the greatest American films ever made, placing it at No. 7 on its original list and No. 17 in its later update. The film was also selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry for its cultural and historical significance.
The film’s influence can also be seen in how often its most famous scenes have been referenced and parodied in pop culture, from television comedies to modern films. Its ambiguous final shot, with Benjamin and Elaine sitting silently on a bus as their expressions shift, remains one of the most talked-about endings in movie history. That moment, in particular, helped cement The Graduate as more than just a hit—it became a cultural touchstone that continues to spark conversation about love, adulthood and uncertainty.
From its iconic performances to its unforgettable soundtrack featuring Simon & Garfunkel's iconic songs "Mrs. Robinson" and "The Sound of Silence," The Graduate remains one of the defining films of its era—and a reminder of the moment a new kind of Hollywood star was born.
Cybill Shepherd, 76, Hits the Red Carpet After Sharing She Patched Things up With Bruce Willis
Cybill Shepherd rarely hits the red carpet these days, but the TV legend and boss-lady blonde is back in action and looking better than ever.
Shepherd, 76, who played Madelyn Hayes on the detective comedy-drama Moonlighting opposite Bruce Willis, went on to play a Hollywood actress in the beloved sitcomCybill with Christine Baranski. She's still going strong as an actress, but tends to run below the radar when it comes to public appearances. But the legend hit the red carpet last week at the 26th Annual Beverly Hills Film Festival Closing Night Gala at The Beverly Hilton, and looked every bit as lovely as she did back in the '80s on Moonlighting.

Shepherd Reveals She Patched Things Up With Bruce WillisShepherd starred alongside legendary actor Bruce Willis in the comedy-drama Moonlighting from March 1985 to May 1989. However, the duo had a tempestuous relationship. Last year, Shepherd revealed to PEOPLE that she was able to mend fences with Willis before he revealed his battle with aphasia.
"Yes, I'm very grateful for that," she said, adding, "Yeah, it was time."
Shepherd has previously referred to Willis as a "jerk" in the tabloids. However, after Willis received his diagnosis, Shepherd made it clear that all was clear between the two when she told Extra, "I will always love Bruce.”
What is Cybill Shepherd Up to These Days?Shepherd has been fostering her musical skills with a new jazz club act. Last year, the blonde shared about her act in a promo video for the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Titled “An Evening with Cybill Shepherd,” the Hollywood icon speaks to the camera in the throaty voice that’s perfect for a jazz club singer.
“It’s an evening of music, conversation, and stories,” Shepherd tells the camera. “Join us!”
