Remember VHS? Fans Are Already Shopping the Vintage Re-Release of This Groundbreaking Horror Film
"Now available on video and DVD..." Cue the nostalgia as we think back to simpler times, when video stores and VCR/DVD players were at the forefront of home entertainment.
Collectors from certain generations might still have certain hard copies of movies in their possession, be it on disc or even VHS. Remember the epic Titanic release that was a whopping two videotapes?
And now, with news of a franchise reboot making waves this year, the groundbreaking 1999 horror sensation known as The Blair Witch Project will be released on the throwback format, thanks to Lionsgate, in addition to a newly remastered hi-def quality that fans and newcomers deserve.
The two-disc Blu-ray edition includes the filmmaker-approved revitalized original theatrical cut and festival cut restored from the original Hi8 videotapes and 16mm film elements, available in the U.S. for the first time, plus the original 35mm theatrical exhibition release.
Fans can thus relive the terror of three film students who disappeared in the Maryland woods while shooting a documentary about the local Blair Witch legend. All that remains is bone-chilling found video footage... and unanswered questions.
And yes, the film's promotional marketing back in '99 was so authentic-looking that moviegoers went into theaters believing they were watching an actual documentary gone wrong.
Lionsgate took to social media on Tuesday, August 4 to promote the special re-releases, which are now available to preorder here.
"Experience the filmmaker-approved restoration of the horror sensation," reads the Instagram post's caption, in part. See below.
View this post on InstagramFans have since flooded the post's comments section to express their excitement for the home-entertainment releases. "Wow. Instant purchase," wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, "Preordered!!!! So excited!!"
Back in April, exciting details were unveiled about the upcoming reboot. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the original movie’s directing team joined the production as executive producers. Additionally, the two male leads of The Blair Witch Project — Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams — are also on board as executive producers.

Smooth Hair Hack: Amazon’s $12 Mulberry Silk Pillowcase Reduces Frizz, Tangles, and Breakage While You Sleep
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
The beauty world is never short on products promising healthier hair and glowing skin. Every week seems to bring another viral serum or overnight treatment that claims to transform your routine. But one of the most talked-about beauty swaps among editors, influencers, hairstylists, and dermatologists isn't something you apply at all — it's the bedding you sleep on. Silk pillowcases have earned a loyal following because their smooth surface creates less friction than traditional cotton, helping reduce hair frizz, tangles, and sleep creases while you snooze.
If you've been curious about making the switch, the Suatien Mulberry Silk Pillowcase at Amazon is an affordable place to start at just $12. The silky fabric allows hair to glide more easily across the pillow instead of catching on the fibers. It also feels cool and smooth against the skin, beating the summer heat and adding a little everyday luxury to your nighttime routine without the luxury price tag.
Suatien Mulberry Silk Pillowcase, From $12 at Amazon Shop at AmazonUnlike cotton, which has a textured weave that can catch on strands of hair as you toss and turn, silk creates an exceptionally smooth sleeping surface that lets hair glide across the pillow. That difference in friction is what has made silk pillowcases such a beauty staple. As hair moves more freely overnight, it's less likely to become knotted, frizzy, or flattened by morning, and the gentler surface may also help reduce unnecessary breakage caused by repeated rubbing.
If you spend time blow-drying, curling, diffusing, or styling your hair before bed, switching to silk can help preserve that effort a little longer instead of undoing it while you sleep. The silky fabric also feels noticeably cooler than many traditional pillowcases, adding a refreshing touch that's especially welcome during warmer months or for anyone who tends to sleep hot.
The benefits extend beyond your hair, too. Cotton is naturally absorbent, which is great for towels but not always ideal for your pillowcase, since it can wick away some of the leave-in conditioners, hair oils, serums, and skincare products you apply before bed. Silk is far less absorbent, allowing more of those products to remain on your hair and skin where they're meant to work. Simultaneously, the smooth fabric is gentle on your face, making it less likely to leave behind the pronounced sleep creases that can linger after a full night's rest.
Despite its luxurious feel, the pillowcase is designed for everyday use, as it's durable and resistant to wrinkling and staining. It can be machine-washed in a mesh laundry bag using a gentle detergent or hand-washed, then air-dried in the shade to help maintain its smooth finish for years to come.

A whopping 31,000 Amazon shoppers gave this “super soft” and "luxurious" pillowcase a five-star rating, saying that “you can feel the difference the second your face hits the fabric.” One reviewer wrote, “Since switching to this silk pillowcase, my hair is noticeably smoother and less frizzy.”
Others highlighted the hidden zipper closure, calling the feature “a game-changer.” Another shopper explained that “it keeps the pillow perfectly tucked away and prevents that annoying ‘sliding out’ that happens with traditional envelope-style cases.”

1982 Rock Song Inspired by Continent the Band Had Never Visited Hit No. 1 a Year Later — and Is Still a Karaoke Staple 44 Years Later
Toto's 1982 track "Africa" has a love-and-hate relationship among fans and even the band, which saved them from being one-hit wonders and was inspired by a country they had never been to.
By the early 80s, Toto was on a thin line, unable to produce resonating hits since their success with "Hold the Line." According to LouderSound, keyboardist and principal songwriter David Paich penned the track "Rosanna," which gave them the green light from Columbia to produce the rest of the album, Toto IV.
Soon, Paich began working on "Africa" while he was messing around with his newly acquired Yamaha CS-80 keyboard. It made a "brassy sound" that became the opening riff of the track, and soon developed the chorus after humming a melody.
“'Hang on,' I thought. 'I’m a talented songwriter but I’m not this talented!' It was as if a higher power was writing through me, because this stuff was coming out like magic," he explained to The Guardian.
Paich revealed the track to the band and its inspiration being about Africa, with guitarist Steve Lukather having said they naturally found the last fact "hilarious." Not only had no one in the band ever gone to the continent, but "I don't know that Paich had ever flown over Africa."
"'If this is a hit,' I said, 'I’ll run naked down Hollywood Boulevard.' I thought the song had a brilliant tune, but I remember listening to the lyrics and going: 'Dave, man, Africa? We’re from north Hollywood. What the fuck are you writing about? ‘I bless the rains down in Africa?’ Are you Jesus, Dave?'" said the guitarist.
The keyboardist would reveal that the inspiration came from his own childhood and interests. One of the reasons he became a rock star was to see the world and grew up going to an all-boys Catholic school where "a lot of the teachers had done missionary work in Africa." Part of the track's lyrics came from stories he heard of missionaries blessing books, Bibles, and crops, and even the rain.
"They said loneliness and celibacy were the hardest things about life out there. Some of them never made it into the priesthood because they needed companionship. So I wrote about a person flying in to meet a lonely missionary. It’s a romanticised love story about Africa, based on how I’d always imagined it. The descriptions of its beautiful landscape came from what I’d read in National Geographic" explained Paich.
The track would be one of Toto's biggest hit singles, which was popular upon its release. It was only a year later, in 1983, that the track landed at the top of the charts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Paich's ability to describe Africa's landscape led many to believe he had personal experience, with the keyboardist having first visited well after, in the 1990s.
"Africa" remains a rock staple among fans, and even a karaoke favorite. Even the band admits they have a love-hate relationship after playing the track for decades. Paich admits he "Sometimes I hate that f*cking song too," but relishes its newfound fans every generation.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Release Date Moved Again Following Prison Fight
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' release date has been pushed back.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons shared on Tuesday, Aug. 4, that Combs will now be released from New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix on Feb. 20, 2028, per PEOPLE. The music mogul's release date has been moved several times.
Most recently, it was moved from Feb. 23, 2028, to Jan. 24, 2028.
This comes after Combs was reportedly involved in a fight at the federal prison at the end of July. At the time, ABC News reported that the other inmate “made a remark to Combs, which instigated the event." Following the fight, Combs was sent to solitary confinement
“It is unclear if he will be temporarily in solitary confinement or if it will be long-term,” The outlet detailed. “A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said the agency does not comment on the ‘conditions of confinement, disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety, and security concerns.’"
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted on the more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. During his time behind bars, he is participating in a drug-abuse rehabilitation program, which can potentially reduce an inmate’s sentence by up to a year, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
It was also reported on Aug. 4 that the judge in Combs' criminal case signed an order authorizing the feds to take possession of the things confiscated during his arrest and raids on his homes, per TMZ. Among the items are multiple iPhones, iPads, hard drives, as well as $9,000 seized from the Park Hyatt Hotel on September 16, 2024.
’70s Rock Legend Cancels 2026 Tour Dates
Todd Rundgren, the rock legend behind the smash hit "Hello It's Me," announced the cancellation of a series of tour shows amid his 2026 tour.
Billed as the Damned If I Do tour, the '70s music icon is booked and busy with a string of concerts across the U.S., Europe and the U.K. this year as he celebrates his music legacy throughout his diverse half-century career.
As part of the multi-leg run, he was initially scheduled for a 10-date trek across the U.K. and Europe in September.
Unfortunately, he was forced to halt five shows in Europe due to “logistical” reasons.
Todd Rundgren performs onstage during a concert at Cosmopolite Scene on November 05, 2025.In an Instagram update, Rundgren apologized for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.
The affected dates include shows in France, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.
However, the management advised ticket holders that they are expected to receive refunds through their original point of purchase.
View this post on InstagramMeanwhile, fans voiced their disappointment in the comments section, especially since many were thrilled to see Rundgren perform live.
“It was a dream coming true going to see Todd in Paris. Very sad,” one wrote.
“I’ve been a Todd fan forever. Have never seen him in concert (with the exception of playing with RINGO). And now Amsterdam is cancelled. Deeply disappointed and utterly heartbroken,” a follower said.
The same goes for a fan who mentioned, “This is really a devastating blow. My five-year-old son has been talking nonstop about how excited he is to meet Todd. It has been a dream of his…one that finally seemed within reach.”
On the other hand, the remaining European and U.K. dates will push through, kicking off on Sept. 6 in Revislate, Italy, followed by shows in London, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow.
In addition, fans can also look forward to the upcoming U.S. fall leg, which will begin on Oct. 21 in California, with the 20-date trek concluding in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 21.

1979 Rock Song, With 20-Year-Old Singer, Is Still a Powerful Hit 47 Years Later
When The Cure released "Boys Don't Cry" in 1979, frontman Robert Smith was just 20 years old and determined to take the band's music in a new direction. The two-and-a-half-minute single didn't chart in the U.K. at the time, but nearly 47 years later, it's become one of the band's most powerful songs.
Smith, Michael Dempsey and Lol Tolhurst wrote "Boys Don't Cry" together, with Fiction Records founder Chris Parry producing. The track was a big departure from the band's debut, Three Imaginary Boys. Smith later said that album had been shaped too much by others, and he was frustrated the band didn't have more control over their own sound.
“I had dreamed of making an album, and suddenly, we were making it, and my input was being disregarded,” Smith told Rolling Stone. “I decided from that day on, we would always pay for ourselves and therefore retain total control.”
"Boys Don't Cry" came from that same place, questioning why men were discouraged from showing vulnerability.
“When I was growing up, there was peer pressure on you to conform to be a certain way,” Smith said. “And as an English boy at the time, you’re encouraged not to show your emotion to any degree.”
“And I couldn’t help but show my emotions when I was younger. I never found it awkward showing my emotions,” he continued. “I couldn’t really continue without showing my emotions; you’d have to be a pretty boring singer to do that.”
Instead of falling in line, Smith said he chose to push back. “So I kind of made a big thing about it. I thought, Well, it’s part of my nature to rail against being told not to do something.”
The band also wanted to steer away from writing shallow songs, another knock against their debut. “Our songs came from our lives, like our diary,” Tolhurst explained. “A lot of things that happened in my life and in Robert’s life were very upsetting. So that’s what we wrote about.”
Parry believed the single had hit potential right from the start. “‘Boys Don’t Cry’ was my pick for the top 10,” he said in the Cure’s biography, Ten Imaginary Years.
But when the song was released on June 12, 1979, it didn't chart in the U.K. Parry blamed Polydor, Fiction's parent label, for failing to properly support the release.
“‘Boys Don’t Cry’ was a hit song and it should have been a hit,” Parry said. “Robert was disappointed and he had a right to be. It was a farce.”
Fast forward a few years, after some lineup changes and hit songs like "A Forest," "The Walk," "The Lovecats," "The Caterpillar" and "In Between Days," Fiction decided "Boys Don't Cry" deserved another chance. They reissued it in 1986 with a new vocal, a remix and a music video.
This time, it reached No. 22 in the U.K. and also charted in Australia, Germany, Spain and France.
Nearly five decades on, "Boys Don't Cry" remains one of The Cure's biggest hits, having even passed one billion streams on Spotify.

Brittany Cartwright Slams Jax Taylor and Former Publicist Lori Krebs Amid New Romance
Brittany Cartwright isn't holding back, providing her unfiltered thoughts following the news that her estranged husband Jax Taylor is dating her former publicist Lori Krebs.
The Bravo star spoke about this shocking new romance during an interview with PEOPLE, which shared a video posted on Aug. 4.
"I never wish bad for anybody but they have to be absolutely miserable,” Cartwright said. "and I hope they are.”
"My honest opinion is that my ex needs a mommy,” she added. “I've never seen another publicist want to be the center of attention like she did.”
This comes shortly after Taylor confirmed he is in a relationship, responding to a fan's comment suggesting he should be on The Bachelor on his July 29 Instagram post.
"No thanks I’m taken," he simply wrote.
And while he didn't officially confirm it is Krebs he is dating, the two were spotted quite close after TMZ shared photos of the two during the weekend of July 11 at Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They had their arms around each other in a pool and then later had a dinner date.
Cartwright and Taylor first met in 2015 while the third season of Vanderpump Rules was filming. She made her first appearance on the hit Bravo show in season 4 before becoming a series regular until her and Taylor's departure after season 8. And with that, her first appearance was with a car full of boxes, as she had packed up her life in Kentucky to move to Los Angeles to live with Taylor. The two went through a rough patch in 2017 after Taylor admitted to cheating on her with Vanderpump Rules alum Faith Stowers, and while they tried to move past it, the two broke up at the end of season 6. However, they got back together off-screen, with Cartwright being a huge source of comfort to Taylor following the unexpected passing of his father. In June 2018, they got engaged and married a year later. Cartwright and Taylor welcomed their first child, Cruz Michael Cauchi, in April 2021, but just a few years later, in February 2024, they announced that they had separated. Cartwright officially filed for divorce in August 2024.

1984 Rock Song, With 23-Year-Old Singer, Was a No. 1 Hit 41 Years Ago Today
By the summer of 1985, Tears for Fears had become one of the biggest bands in the world.
Leading the charge was "Shout," an anthemic rock song fronted by Roland Orzabal, who was just 23 years old when the single was released. Built around a commanding chorus and a message of emotional release, the song quickly became the duo's signature hit and, 41 years ago today, found itself at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
"Shout" marked a dramatic evolution for the British duo.
Written by Orzabal, Ian Stanley and Curt Smith, the song appeared on the band's second album, Songs from the Big Chair, which showcased a bigger, more expansive sound than their synth-pop debut.
"I had the chorus to 'Shout' and I had a rhythm which was stolen from a Talking Heads track from off 'Remain in Light,'" Orzabal said in an interview. "[Keyboardist] Ian [Stanley] and [producer] Chris [Hughes] played around with the rhythm, and they came up with the flute motif which runs through the verse and the chorus. Ian suggested various notes on the verse and that sent me off on the verse melody."
The song's layered production, soaring guitars, and unforgettable refrain helped distinguish Tears for Fears from many of their contemporaries.
The lyrics also carried a deeper meaning.
Rather than encouraging anger or confrontation, Orzabal has explained that "Shout" was inspired by the idea of expressing bottled-up emotions instead of suppressing them. The song reflected themes that had long interested the band, particularly the psychological concepts explored throughout their early work.
"You could see the slow transition from the personal perspective to a more social and political perspective," said Orzabal.
Listeners embraced it around the world.
Released as the album's second single, “Shout” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart, and hit No. 1 in numerous other countries. It became one of the biggest-selling singles of 1985 and helped propel Songs from the Big Chair to success in multiple countries, cementing Tears for Fears as international stars.
Its legacy has endured for decades.
"Shout" remains a staple of classic rock and '80s radio, has appeared in countless films and television shows, and has been covered by artists across multiple genres. Its massive chorus and universal message continue to resonate with listeners, making it one of the defining songs of its era.
"It's a great song to have in your arsenal!" Orzabal told Classic Pop Mag. "I really felt that track at the time but, after decades of experience, I must admit I can sing it now without feeling it. It's still a great song to do at the end, but it’s more one for the fans' emotions now."
Forty-one years after reaching No. 1, "Shout" remains one of the most recognizable rock songs of the 1980s. Featuring a 23-year-old Roland Orzabal at the height of his creative powers, the song became an era-defining hit whose impact continues to echo across generations.

What Happened to Perez Hilton? Inside His Health Crisis Before Apparent Self-Harm Livestream
Perez Hilton allegedly live-streamed his own self-harm video on Tuesday, August 4.
The self-proclaimed "OG Influencer" took to TikTok Live fully nude, where he suffered what many viewers are calling a "psychotic break." While it's unclear what prompted the meltdown, Hilton previously suffered a near-fatal health crisis earlier this year.
Perez Hilton's HealthThe internet personality opened up about his 21-day hospital stay that he claimed was caused by his own "stupidity."
"It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me," he explained in a March 23 YouTube video. "Before I was hospitalized, I had the flu. I had the flu for about a week. I'm not a person who is a partier or abuses things. I took my medication for the flu for a week."
According to Perez, he was "stupidly" taking his medications on an empty stomach, which caused him to develop an ulcer, "then a perforation, and then sepsis."
"The first few days were a lot of pain and constant tests," he explained. “They couldn’t find where the perforation was."
He ultimately underwent a laparoscopic surgery to rid his body of the infection.
"Now that I’m home, I’m not 100 percent. I brought the hospital with me…They had to insert a PICC line, which is like a big fancy scary IV with two lines, and one goes to my heart," he said. "I said, 'Okay, I’ll do whatever you recommend because I’m not going back to the hospital. It’s a one-and-done for me.'"
View this post on InstagramShortly after his release, Perez found himself back in the hospital with a blood clot in his leg.
"I’m back at the best hospital in Las Vegas. I’ve already seen some of the nurses that took care of me for 21 days when I was here fighting and beating sepsis, thanks to these amazing doctors, nurses, and God," Hilton said in an April Instagram update. "And now, I’m back, and I have to have emergency surgery tomorrow. And I’m so happy. I’m so grateful. Because this is a blessing from God. We caught this early."
He added, "If that blood clot had gone to my lungs, or my heart, it could have been real bad. So tomorrow I’m having a thrombectomy, where they are knocking me out. I’m being put under in emergency surgery and they’re going to remove the fully occluded blood clot."
Despite his health crises, the blogger has remained active on social media, with his most recent video uploaded to YouTube on Sunday, August 2.
Perez Hilton Self-HarmPolice responded to Perez Hilton's Miami home on the evening of Tuesday, August 4, after receiving multiple calls about apparent self-harm being live streamed on social media.
The father of three was reportedly home alone at the time, but viewers claimed he was fully nude during a TikTok Live and exhibiting unusual and disturbing behavior.
According to social media users who witnessed the ordeal, Perez allegedly was in possession of a butcher knife and covered in a red substance that appeared to be blood.
"In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication," a statement from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, per Rolling Stone. "Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public."
"At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family," the statement explained.
According to some viewers, Perez appeared to be "slashing himself everywhere."
UPDATE: A person believed to be Perez Hilton has been taken from his Miami home into an ambulance following a reported self-harm incident.
Miami-Dade authorities earlier responded after multiple calls about a livestream, spoke with family, and monitored the situation while… https://t.co/gvuZEbc4ea
Eventually, TikTok ended the live, took down the video, and blocked his account.
Paramedics were later seen taking someone from the home into an ambulance, TMZ reported.
"The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention," Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office PIO told the outlet. "The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual's family."
"We are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton," Hilton's agents, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, said in a statement, per TMZ. "At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez's health and well being, as well as the well being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further. We appreciate everyone's concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time."
