Savannah Guthrie Faced Tragedy When Her Dad Died Suddenly in 1988

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:49am

Savannah Guthrie is going through an unthinkable tragedy as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, has gone missing and authorities believe the 84-year-old was abducted from her Arizona home.

As Savannah and her family, including her siblings Camron and Annie, continue to hope and pray that their mother is found safe, many are wondering about the patriarch of the family, Charles Guthrie.

Charles died suddenly in 1988 when Savannah was in high school.

How Did Savannah's Dad Die?

Savannah has said that her father died of a heart attack when she was a senior.

"My father died when I was 16. I think about him all the time," Savannah told People magazine in 2024. "He was deep and complicated, and he didn't talk to us like little kids. He told us things that I didn't understand at the time but later would remember, long after he died."

“The loss of my father was shocking and devastating. It cracked open our family and crushed us," she continued. "He was our center. We just idealized him and adored him. He was larger than life, and funny, and charming, and adorable. His loss was so sudden and so shocking."

Savannah Has Spoken Highly of Her Father

It's no secret that Savannah looked up to her father. In an essay written for Today in 2014, she talked about some of his qualities and what she remembered most about him.

"My father was a seemingly unlikely mix of qualities: always strong, sometimes terrifying, loyal to the end, and disarmingly gentle and tender when it counted. He was also tall, affectionate and funny; he had that personality that people describe as “lighting up the room.” He was a 5,000-watt bulb who could turn a mundane trip to the post office into a rip-roaring tale. People adored him and gravitated towards him," she wrote.

"But for all these wonderful and magnetic traits, the one I remain most grateful for is his integrity. He had an unbending notion of right and wrong. His moral clarity was demanding and sometimes intimidating, but he tempered it, at the moment you most needed and least expected it, with kindness and mercy," she added.

When Savannah gave birth to her son, she named him Charley in honor of her dad.

Savannah and Her Sister Didn't Want Nancy to Be Alone View this post on Instagram

As Nancy was a widow, her kids did whatever they could to ensure that she wasn't alone. In fact, both Savannah and her older sister decided to commute to college rather than move away so that Nancy wouldn't have to be by herself.

When the pandemic rolled around, it was particularly hard for Savannah, who didn't see her mom for well over a year.

"Been waiting for this moment for 16 long months. Together again," Savannah captioned an Instagram post in March 2021. "I am marveling and lifting a prayer of gratitude for the scientists and researchers who made it possible."

Nancy did not remarry and has lived alone in Arizona—north of Tucson—for many years.

'70s Funk Icon and Rock Hall of Famer Dies Just Days After Turning 75

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:44am

Billy Bass, born William Nelson, Jr., and the founding bassist of Parliament–Funkadelic, died on Saturday, February 1, at 75.

Nelson was instrumental in transitioning the Parliaments from a doo-wop vocal group into a funk powerhouse, contributing both basslines and vocals to some of the band’s most iconic recordings.

The news was announced via the Facebook account of Parliament–Funkadelic frontman George Clinton, though no additional details were shared.

“Rest in eternal peace and funk,” Clinton’s Facebook account wrote.

Born on January 28, 1951, Nelson joined the circle of musicians Clinton met while working at a Plainfield, New Jersey, barbershop. Together, they formed the Parliaments and set their sights on a Motown recording contract.

As noted in Dave Thompson’s book Funk, Nelson proposed that the band bring in a dedicated rhythm section to avoid relying on house bands while on tour.

Starting out on guitar, Nelson saw potential in Eddie Hazel and urged the band to bring him in — a decision that led to Hazel’s unforgettable “Maggot Brain” solo.

Encouraged by Motown great James Jamerson, Nelson switched to bass and learned the instrument on the road. Clinton praised his playing for combining “the Motown flavor with the aggressive rock attitude,” according to Premier Guitar

When Revilot claimed ownership of the Parliaments in 1967, the group had to find a new label and a new identity. They briefly adopted the name Funkadelic, which Nelson claimed to have coined, before later dropping the “s.”

On Funkadelic’s first three albums, Funkadelic (1970), Free Your Mind … and Your A** Will Follow (1970) and Maggot Brain (1971), Nelson played bass and sang lead on at least one track per album. He also contributed bass to Parliament’s debut, Osmium (1970), and guitar to their 1974 release, Up for the Down Stroke.

According to Clinton’s website, Nelson left the band over a financial dispute — a situation that would later mirror similar exits by other P-Funk members.

After a stint with the Temptations, Nelson rejoined the group for the session of “Better by the Pound,” featured on Let’s Take It to the Stage (1975). He earned the credit “Blackbelt Thumpasauric Bass” on Tales of Kidd Funkadelic (1976) and continued recording with Parliament and Funkadelic through the decade.

Following another departure from P-Funk, Nelson performed with artists including the Commodores, Fishbone, Jermaine Jackson, Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson

He also contributed to solo projects by fellow P-Funk members such as Hazel, Ruth Copeland, and Bernie Worrell.

During the 1990s, Nelson fronted O.G. Funk, which released the single “I Wanna Know” in 1991 and the album Out of the Dark in 1994.

Nelson returned to P-Funk that same year and was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the collective in 1997.

Why Lady Gaga Almost Pulled the Plug on Her Dramatic 2026 Grammys Performance

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:44am

There were plenty of eye-catching moments during the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, but none were as hypnotic as Lady Gagadelivering a rock version of "Abracadabra" while wearing a birdcage on her head. The fairly minimalist performance—at least, for Gaga and The Grammys—was considered one of the night's best.

"If any of these other fools want to have any hope of competing with her, they'd have to do something truly drastic," wroteStereogum's Tom Breihan, while Billboard's Joe Lynch said her performance felt "monumental" and "riveting." USA Today's review said that Gaga "was born Grammy-ready"—but in truth, Gaga wasn't. And this performance almost didn't happen.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-R78mvH1gCM

"There was one point a few weeks before the show that we thought we might have to lose her from the show," said Ben Wilson, the Grammys' executive producer, on the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, "because she just was like, 'I just don't see how I can.'"

The issue was timing: Gaga is in the midst of her Mayhem Ball tour. Choreographing and rehearsing a major number for the Grammys wasn't going to happen. In fact, on Jan. 30, one day before the awards show, Gaga was in Japan, wrapping up the fourth and final show at the Tokyo Dome.

After the curtain fell, she had to jump on a plane to fly back to Los Angeles; she touched down less than 36 hours before the live broadcast.

With her back against the wall, Gaga and her team—including choreographer Parris Goebel, director Ben Dalgleish, and her fiancé Michael Polansky—came up with a stripped-down, band-focused take on the song that would do the track justice.

They recruited Mayhem producer Andrew Watt on guitar, co-producer Cirkut on synths and journeyman drummer (and current Nine Inch Nails member) Josh Freese. Gaga commanded two keyboards and a modular synthesizer, leading the band during this raucous take on her dance hit.

Related: Grammys Leave Beloved Metal Guitarist Out Of 'In Memoriam Segment: 'They Suck'

"It was so different, so original, so spectacular," says Winston. Watt worked on revamping the song for this performance, sending a demo of the rock version to Winston in the middle of the night a few weeks before the show.

"I was still awake, but my wife Meredith was asleep. He said, 'You gotta listen.' I crept into the toilet, got my AirPods on, and sat on the loo listening to this thing. And I was like, 'Oh man, this has taken this track to an incredible level.'"

There was also a risk to the performance: Gaga's performance used close-ups captured by a camera mounted on a pre-programmed robot arm. "Once you press play on that robot, it's going," said Winston. If there was an issue, there was nothing they could do until the song was over.

Related: Lady Gaga's Mister Rogers Cover Is Giving Fans 'Literal Chills and Tears'

Thankfully, it all went off without a hitch, and Gaga added another iconic performance (in the truest sense of the world) to her body of work. "What's funny is circumstance drives you to a certain creative [space," commented Winston, "but when you nail the creative, if you could go back in time and not have those restrictions, you'd still choose that creative."

Or, to put it another way, necessity is the mother of invention, and Gaga is Mother Monster.

John Denver Didn’t Write His Beloved ’70s Southern Anthem

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:43am

John Denver’s 1975 ode to Southern life celebrated simple pleasures, but did he really write this beloved anthem?

"Thank God I'm a Country Boy" topped the Billboard charts in June of 1975. The song highlights family, rural life, and a preference for nature over material wealth.

But Denver didn't write the tune. According to American Songwriter, the song was written by John Martin Sommers for Denver's 1974 album, Back Home Again.

American Songwriter reports that Sommers, a member of the singer's band, wrote the song on Denver's 30th birthday, December 31, 1973. The idea reportedly came to him while driving from Aspen, Colorado, to Los Angeles.

The original didn't chart, but a live version, recorded for the concert album An Evening With John Denver, hit the top spot. The event was filmed over a series of dates at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, California.

The song’s live version captures the crowd’s enthusiasm. It is a time capsule of ’70s concert magic, brimming with energy and the joy of shared music.

The song has endured as a cultural touchstone for ’70s country rock and Americana for over five decades. It’s widely recognized as one of Denver’s most iconic hits, often used in movies, TV, and celebrations celebrating rural life.

"Thank God I'm a Country Boy" was one of four number one hits for Denver. The others were "Annie's Song," "I'm Sorry," and "Sunshine on My Shoulders."

In total, Denver hit the Billboard top 10 with seven songs. The additional three included "Take Me Home, Country Roads," which hit the second position in 1971. "Back Home Again" took the fifth spot in 1974, and "Rocky Mountain High" peaked at No. 9 in 1972.

John Denver was known for his heartfelt lyrics and love of simple life, from the wistful longing of Take Me Home, Country Roads to the joyous celebration of Thank God I’m a Country Boy. His music continues to capture the spirit of the ’70s and the enduring charm of country living.

He died on October 12, 1997. He was 53.

'Bridgerton' Season 4 Part 2 Teaser Reveals Sophie and Benedict’s Long-Awaited Steamy Novel Moment

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:28am

Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie's (Yerin Ha) storyline in Bridgerton Season 4 has yet to reach its pinnacle moments. A new teaser for Season 4 Part 2 teases fans with the reveal of one major scene from the original Julia Quinn novel that will have fans blushing.

Bridgerton's official Netflix account released the teaser on X with the caption, "It has been said, the most anticipated moments are often times worth the wait. Bridgerton Season 4 returns February 26th."

Many fans commented feeling overwhelmed with what the teaser implies for the second half of the season, and which scene they are going to adapt from the novel.

"THE BATHTUB SCENE!!!!! I CAN'T BREATHE AAAAAAAH" said one fan, while another commented, "The bathtub scene is happening!!! Book girlies are squealing in delight!!"

The sultry teaser has Sophie and Benedict staring at each other across a steaming bath by the fire. It soon changes to reveal kisses between the two before scenes show Benedict and Sophie naked as she shakes her hair down.

What is this grand scene? It takes place in the latter half of Quinn's An Offer to a Gentleman. Without giving away too many spoilers, the novel includes a pivotal moment involving Lady Araminta and Sophie that leads Benedict and Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) to come to Sophie's aid. It also cements Benedict's feelings for Sophie and his mother's acceptance of their relationship.

Book fans know very well how important the scene is to their ending story, which reveals a hidden secret about Sophie's father and Lady Araminta's (Katie Leung) deception. Afterwards, Sophie and Benedict reconcile their differences and confess their love. Due to prior events, Sophie is in desperate need of a bath that Benedict is all too giddy to help with.

It becomes the second and most important sex scene in the novel. Based on the events of Season 4 Part 1, it's likely the bathtub scene will become the one major sex scene of the season.

Trader Joe's Is Discontinuing a Cult-Favorite $5 Cheese—Stock Up Before It's Gone

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:25am

Every Trader Joe's shopper knows the feeling: you fall hard for a product, build meals around it, recommend it to friends and then one day you spot that dreaded little sign on the shelf. The one that quietly announces your favorite item's fate. That moment is hitting cheese lovers right now, and the reactions online range from disbelief to full-on panic buying.

Shoppers have been spotting "discontinued soon" signs in stores and sharing photos across social media, urging fellow fans to grab it while they still can. For many, this particular cheese has become a staple for weeknight dinners, snack boards and lazy lunches. At under $5, it felt like one of those Trader Joe's finds that punched well above its price point. Now, it appears to be on borrowed time.

User @trader_joes_treasure_hunt reports that Trader Joe's is discontinuing its Everything But the Bagel Cheddar Cheese, a bold twist on classic cheddar that blends creamy richness with the brand's wildly popular seasoning mix. Sold for $4.99 for an eight-ounce block, the cheese is infused with sesame seeds, garlic, onion, poppy seeds and sea salt.

Why Shoppers Fell So Hard for This Cheese

Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel seasoning has been a cult favorite since its debut in 2017, so it was only a matter of time before it found its way into other categories. When the seasoned cheddar arrived, shoppers quickly embraced it.

Fans love how versatile it is. It works just as well sliced onto a burger as it does melted into mac and cheese. Many shoppers swear by it for grilled cheese sandwiches, while others add it to charcuterie boards or simply snack on it straight from the fridge. Some even melt it over a toasted bagel with eggs and bacon for a next-level breakfast sandwich.

What to Know Before It Disappears

According to in-store signage and shopper reports, the cheese is being phased out, though exact timing may vary by location. As with most Trader Joe's discontinuations, once it's gone, it's gone. There's no guarantee of a restock or a replacement version down the line.

If you're hoping to snag a few blocks, your best bet is checking your local store sooner rather than later. Availability will depend on remaining inventory, and popular items like this tend to sell through quickly once word gets out. While Trader Joe's is always introducing new cheeses, fans agree that this one will be hard to replace.

’70s Rock Band Announces Return to Special Venue for the First Time in 12 Years

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:23am

For one night only, the legendary British rock band that dominated the 1970s, Deep Purple, will be performing at Royal Albert Hall in London on Nov. 25.

The one-off performance will feature original band members Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Ian Gillan, as well as more recent members Don Airey and Simon McBride. Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Friday. Deep Purple will also be accompanied by JAYLER, another rock band from the UK, for their appearance.

Deep Purple's return to Royal Albert Hall comes 12 years since they last performed in the historical London venue in 2014, when the band held a memorial concert to honor its co-founder Jon Lord, who died two years prior.

Deep Purple has a storied past with Royal Albert Hall. The band first performed at the venue in 1969 with Concerto for Group and Orchestra, a three-movement composition created by Lord and performed alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The band would then return to the venue the following year as a supporting act for Canned Heat, and then again in 1971 as headliners on their Fireball tour. In 1999, Deep Purple celebrated the 30th anniversary of Concerto for Group and Orchestra with another performance at Royal Albert Hall, this time with the London Symphony Orchestra.

The band's much-anticipated return to the venue in 2026 comes at the end of their upcoming European and UK tour, with their Royal Albert Hall appearance marking the end of the three-month stint.

Fans of the band — both old and new — have been expressing their excitement for the one-off performance on social media.

View this post on Instagram

"Great that Jayler are also supporting at this fabulous venue," wrote one fan.

"Wow ....amazing return," wrote another.

Deep Purple's relationship to Royal Albert Hall runs deep and includes several decades of high-energy and exciting performances, making their return to the venue the obvious choice to mark the end of their 2026 tour and another year of celebrating the beauty and joy of rock music.

KitKat Hacks the 9-to-5: How a 24/7 'Fake' Meeting Promises Uninterrupted Work Breaks

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:19am

The modern office has a new hero, and it arrives wrapped in red foil. In an era where "hustle culture" has turned the standard nine-to-five into a marathon of back-to-back pings and urgent requests, finding a moment of peace feels nearly impossible. On February 3, KitKat announced they plan to fight fire with fire — or rather, meetings with meetings — by launching a digital loophole that every burnt-out professional has been waiting for.

It’s a scene all workers can recognize: a coworker appears deskside or a "quick question" notification pops up onscreen. The traditional break seems to always be under attack, but KitKat’s ruse offers a shield. By launching a 24/7 fake Microsoft Teams meeting, the brand is giving employees a way to disappear in plain sight. The strategy is simple: to get away from work, you join a call that looks exactly like work. It leverages the one universal law of the modern office: nobody disturbs the person who is "on a call."

"No break ever goes uninterrupted – trust me, I would know," says Bana Salah, Creative Director at Publicis Middle East. "But the moment you point to your headphones and mouth 'I'm on a call,' everyone backs off. So, we thought, what if the break was the call?" The "Work in Progress" channel isn't just a static image. To pass the "shoulder check" from a manager or a suspicious colleague, the meeting is designed to look remarkably authentic—and remarkably dull.

When users click the link at nes.tl/Kitkatworkinprogress, they are greeted by a shared screen featuring moving charts, cycling slides, and a presentation that feels just important enough to ignore. Because the call runs 24/7, it serves as a global alibi for workers in any time zone, whether they are navigating a high-pressure morning in Chicago or an afternoon slump in New York.

A screenshot of KitKat's 24/7 Teams meeting.

Nestle

By joining the meeting, your internal status automatically switches to "Busy," effectively blocking your calendar from new invitations and providing the perfect excuse to step away for a literal or metaphorical break. KitKat, known for its "Have a Break" mantra, is positioning this tool as a necessary defense mechanism for mental well-being.

The hack lies in its social engineering: in a professional setting, interrupting a meeting is considered a faux pas. By creating a 24/7 virtual room, KitKat has manufactured a safe zone where the only thing on the agenda is nothing.

Deniz Yamanel, BEO at Nestlé Confectionery MENA, emphasizes that this isn't about avoiding work, but about protecting the quality of the work that remains. "This is about protecting those short breaks that help people come back feeling better," Yamanel explains. "KitKat has always believed in better breaks. All we did was schedule it anytime an employee needs it."

The project demonstrates a pragmatic approach to the reality of office life: sometimes the only way to stop working is to appear as though you are working harder than everyone else. By mirroring the structure of a legitimate corporate call, KitKat is giving the "Have a break" tagline a functional role in the digital workspace.

Eric Clapton Reflects on Abrupt Exit From Yardbirds At Height of Their Success

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:19am

It's difficult to imagine why anyone would choose to leave a hit rock band at the height of their popularity. But such was the case for Eric Clapton's shocking exit from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band, the Yardbirds, back in 1965.

Initially formed in 1963, the Yardbirds are commonly known for giving multiple musicians their big break in the music industry, as seen through the eventful tenures of Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

Yet right around the time the band's popularity was starting to take off, Clapton chose to step away from the Yardbirds, ending his membership in the group after just two years.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Clapton decided to leave the band following the release of their chart-topping single, "For Your Love."

While the song propelled the group to new heights in the industry, the Yardbird's drummer Jim McCarty believed Clapton saw the song's success as evidence the band was moving more towards pop music rather than the traditional blues roots he held dear.

“He didn’t like the way we were going into a pop thing rather than a blues thing," McCarty said. "Everything revolved around hit singles in those days. You had to produce a great hit single in order to keep up. And we tried other things. We tried things from our repertoire. But they never sounded great in the English studios for some reason."

With the Yardbirds slowly becoming a household name, Clapton made the abrupt decision to leave the group, leading him to briefly consider leaving music altogether.

“I was fooled into joining the group, attracted by the pop thing, the big money and traveling around and little chicks,” Clapton said. “It wasn’t until after a year and a half that I started to take music as a serious thing."

"I intended to pack up playing all together," the iconic musician continued. "I was kind of screwed up about everything. Playing with a group like that puts you in a very strange frame of mind. You lose a lot of your original values."

The 4 Birth Months Learning to Rest Without Guilt

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:16am

Do you find it hard to believe that you deserve rest, or that taking a break isn't a waste of time? If you lie down for a nap when you're exhausted and are suddenly hit with a wave of guilt, you're not alone. In today’s fast-paced world, it seems like everyone is always on the go. With just a click of a button, we can easily dive into a comparison game, watching others on social media achieve their goals while we’re lying in bed.

While it can be difficult to avoid comparing ourselves to others' highlight reels, even the most successful and accomplished people need relaxation, rest, and time to replenish their spirits. According to astrologers, four birth months are associated with individuals who may need to learn to rest without feeling guilty. Rest isn't weakness. It is a strength. These individuals are often active, ambitious, or lively and struggle to grant themselves permission to hit pause.

FOLLOW-UP: 3 Birth Dates Learning to Rest Without Guilt, Per Experts

Which Birth Months Must Remind Themselves That Rest is Productive?

Birth months are listed. Disregard your birth date.

January

People born in January are typically long-term planners. They excel at envisioning their goals and making slow but steady progress towards achieving them. However, they often struggle to embrace rest. Whether they are ambitious Capricorns or eccentric Aquarians, these individuals can take on too much responsibility for everything and everyone around them. Remember, it's okay to relax. Taking a break doesn’t mean your goals will disappear; instead, it allows you to grow sustainably.

RELATE?: The 4 Birth Dates Everyone Naturally Loves

April

If you were born in April, you are likely a vibrant and dynamic individual. As either a pioneering Aries or a steadfast Taurus, you are driven and determined at your core. Your life is often fueled by passion, leading you to chase exciting experiences, ambitious goals, and new opportunities. The thought of resting might not even cross your mind, as it doesn't seem appealing to you. However, to maintain your active lifestyle, rest is crucial. It's important not to overlook recovery until you reach burnout. By prioritizing cozy time, you will find that life flows more favorably for you.

FUN!: Which Bad Bunny Song Mirrors You, Based on Birth Month

June

If your birthday falls in June, you are likely mentally agile. Your mind tends to have a multitude of thoughts and ideas racing, like having many tabs open in a web browser. You could be an intellectualGemini or a sensitive Cancer, making you highly attuned to external stimuli. As a result, rest is especially important for you. However, with your active mind, you might find yourself avoiding downtime, using constant activity as a distraction from anxiety or overthinking. This can create a vicious cycle in which mental exhaustion leads to increased worry. It’s essential to take time to just be. Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you for it.

EXPLORE: Your Lucky Power Color, Based on the Year You Were Born

December

December-born individuals are full of adventurous whims. Whether they are philosophical Sagittarians or steady Capricorns, those born in this month have a strong desire to explore their full potential. Their greatest fear is missing out, which often leads to overbooked planners filled with commitments they couldn’t resist saying yes to. While they enjoy having a good time and exploring uncharted territory, it’s important for them to recognize when they have reached their limit. Paying attention to their body's signals for rest can help prevent burnout, which may lead to crankiness, frustration, and restlessness.

Lindsey Vonn Shares Emotional Update After Crash and Reveals If She’ll Compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:10am

Lindsey Vonn is down but not out. One of the most decorated alpine skiers in history, Vonn is sharing an update on her plans to stage a comeback at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan after a disastrous crash sidelined her in January. The 41-year-old skiing legend revealed details about the extent of her injuries following her crash and whether she still plans to compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn Shares Injury Update After Crash View this post on Instagram

Fans are calling Vonn an “inspiration” as she shares an update on her comeback plans. In a post shared to social media Tuesday morning, Vonn writes:

“Well… I completely tore my ACL last Friday. I also sustained a bone bruise (which is a common injury when you tear your ACL), plus meniscal tears but it’s unclear how much of that was there previously and what was new from the crash.”

The athlete then revealed that after taking time to process her injuries and consult with doctors, “I have determined I am capable of competing in the Olympic Downhill on Sunday. Of course I will still need to do one training run, as is required to race on Sunday, but… I am confident in my body’s ability to perform. Despite my injuries my knee is stable, I do not have swelling and my muscles are firing and reacting as they should.”

Fans Rally Around Vonn’s Olympic Dream

“You’re amazing, cheering for you,” responded one enthusiastic fan, echoing the sentiments of many who have followed Vonn’s career. Another added, “You’re amazing. We believe.”

Fans have delighted in following Lindsey Vonn’s quest for gold at the upcoming Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy, nearly six years after she retired from professional skiing in 2019. Determined to chase one more Olympic dream, Vonn returned to professional skiing following a knee replacement surgery.

A Historic Comeback at Age 41 View this post on Instagram

The athlete has defied expectations since announcing her return in 2024, delivering strong performances on the World Cup circuit. Vonn, 41, became the oldest woman to win a World Cup downhill race and is scheduled to compete for the 2026 U.S. Olympic team, marking her fifth Olympic bid.

Just weeks before the start of the Winter Games, Vonn suffered a crash in a World Cup downhill race in Switzerland. The famed skier was airlifted to a local hospital and has remained mostly out of the spotlight since the injury.

Grit and Resilience Define Lindsey Vonn’s Return

Citing a “chance” she can still race on a torn ACL, Vonn once again displays her signature grit and resilience as she moves forward with her comeback, unwilling to let the aftermath of last week’s crash sideline her latest Olympic dream.

Savannah Guthrie Mother Nancy's Pacemaker Stopped Syncing With Her Apple Watch

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:10am

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing after the abduction from her Arizona home—and police say the 84-year-old's pacemaker has stopped syncing with her Apple Watch.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, a law enforcement source told Fox News Digital that Nancy's pacemaker last synced with her Apple devices roughly 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. Investigators said they believe that's when she was taken out of range, as her Apple Watch was left behind.

Additionally, the police source told Fox News Digital that "blood drops" were found leading from the entryway outside the house to the driveway.

On Feb. 1, Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) launched a search for Nancy, describing her as a “vulnerable adult” who was last seen at her home on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31. The PCSD declared her Tucson home a crime scene on Monday, Feb. 2, revealing later that day that she Nancy was “taken” from her residence “against her will,” in the middle of the night.

Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that blood and signs of forced entry were both discovered at Nancy's home, although they didn't confirm who the blood belonged to.

Also on Tuesday, Prima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said DNA evidence was found at the crime scene. “We took some samples that we hope will have enough profile of a DNA—profile that gives us some identification as to what we’re looking at,” he said. However, it could still take “several more days” for conclusive DNA test results for the samples from the crime scene.

Savannah has broken her silence about her mother's abduction and asked fans for prayers as Nancy remains missing.

Winter really does drain all the color out of the world, doesn't it? Everything outside turns some version of gray or brown, the sky feels permanently overcast, and even the snow somehow manages to feel dull after a while. That's why bringing a little color indoors feels so necessary this time of year. One of the easiest ways to do that is with bedding, especially something floral and cheerful that reminds you that brighter days actually exist. Even when it's freezing outside, crawling into a bed that has pops of color and a lively pattern instantly lifts the mood.

Floral bedding gives your room a sense of life when everything else feels kind of sleepy. (Ironic considering you want to be sleepy in bed.) It's a little reminder of spring while you're still wearing three layers.

Marshalls' Moss & Willow 3-Piece Garden Cotton Quilt Set is just the thing for bringing a bit of spring indoors, even when the wind and snow are howling outside. It comes in queen and king sizes, priced at $49.99 and $59.99, respectively.

The set comes with one reversible quilt (two patterns for the price of one—doesn't get better than that) and two matching shams. It's pre-washed for softness and machine-washable, making the set easy to clean at home.

There are so many great home finds right now that are perfect for a refresh when you want to bring some color inside (since there's very little outside at the moment). For instance, if you're in need of some new tableware, Dollar Tree's cheery hydrangea stoneware is an affordable option. And Costco recently stocked some super cute Anthropologie Icon glass dupes that boast bright fruits. But perhaps my favorite is a vibrant Tupperware meal-prep set that's both functional and pretty to look at in your fridge.

Go ahead, make it feel like spring inside your home. Mother Nature may be the boss of you outside, but you can create a warm, pastel-filled environment within your own four walls any time of year you choose. So make the bed with florals, then cozy up with a beach read and pretend like the warmer weather is already here. You deserve it.

Oscar-Winning Actor Finally Makes His Super Bowl Ad Debut

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 11:01am

George Clooney will appear in his first Super Bowl commercial during Super Bowl LX, starring in an ad for Grubhub that is already gaining attention for its unusual creative approach.

The 30-second spot airs during the third quarter of the Feb. 8 broadcast, and one of its most notable elements is the involvement of filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, known for distinctive, stylized cinema.

Unconventional Craft Meets a Big Game Stage

The commercial, titled Grubhub Will Eat the Fees, unfolds inside a lavish setting where formally dressed guests enjoy a grand dinner composed of takeout meals. As the evening reaches its peak, the “final course” arrives: the fees. That’s when Clooney’s character steps in, delivering the line that gives the spot its name.

Rather than opting for slapstick humor or familiar comedic beats, the campaign leans into Lanthimos’ visual sensibilities, making the scene feel more like a short cinematic vignette than a traditional commercial.

A New Creative Play for a Major Broadcast

This represents both Clooney’s and Grubhub’s debut in a Super Bowl ad. The collaboration was designed to showcase a new benefit from Grubhub: the company will eliminate delivery and service fees on restaurant orders over $50 as a long-term policy.

Clooney said he was “thrilled” to work with Lanthimos, describing the experience of shooting the spot as feeling similar to being on a film set and praising the director’s clear creative point of view.

What It Means on Game Day

Super Bowl commercials regularly serve as cultural touchpoints, with celebrities often lending star power to memorable ads. This year’s Grubhub spot stands out in part because of the creative team behind it and the way it frames a familiar consumer experience. The dinner party setting and cinematic presentation invite discussion and curiosity beyond a simple brand message.

Whether viewers respond primarily to the humor, the visuals, or Clooney’s presence, this commercial’s blend of star power and auteur direction makes it one of the more talked-about entries before the game even begins.

‘90s Rocker Says You're Ruining the Concert for Everyone Behind You

Tue, 02/03/2026 - 10:59am

If you’ve ever been stuck watching a concert through someone else’s phone screen, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan says you’re exactly the reason his band enforces a strict no-phone policy at shows.

The longtime rule limits photos and videos to a few approved moments, and according to Keenan, it’s less about controlling fans and more about basic courtesy — and protecting the shared live music experience.

“It’s not about us; it’s about the person behind you, because they’re having to look at the show,” Keenan explained on the “Steve-O’s Wild Ride!” podcast.

“This person paid, like, 70 bucks for a ticket, and now [they ’re] back here trying to see the show through your phone. That’s just rude to people. That’s why we pick a couple songs and go, ‘You can film these,’ but don’t ruin somebody else’s experience for the rest of the show. It’s just selfish, and you’re unaware of your behavior.”

The rock legend clarified that his stance has less to do with technology and more to do with consideration for others.

“There are a few things, when you’re a kid, that your grandma or your mom taught you. Like, there are the danger ones, and then there are the courtesy ones, right? The danger ones are like, ‘Look both ways before you cross the street,’ right? There’s a short list of five things: don’t put your hand on the stove; don’t run with scissors. And then there are the courtesy ones: please, thank you, yes or no, sir, yes, ma’am, no, ma’am. Don’t point — pointing is rude.”

To make his point clear, Keenan pulled out his phone during the interview and aimed it directly at host Steve-O, adding, “You point and shoot.”

The same phone-free rule applies to Keenan’s other bands, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle — so if you’re heading to Puscifer’s spring North American tour for Normal Isn’t, expect to put your phone away.

Tool isn’t alone in pushing back against constant phone use at live shows. Artists including Bob Dylan, Jack White, Guns N' Roses, Alicia Keys and Childish Gambino have also required fans to limit or fully lock away their phones during concerts.

In many venues, devices are placed in secured pouches handled by staff, allowing access only in designated areas or after the show ends.

White has previously explained that limiting phone use directly affects how he performs onstage.

"I don't have a setlist. I really react to the crowd, just like a stand-up comedian would. If I finish a song and it’s 'tah-dah!' and it's crickets. I don't know what to do now," the rock artist said in a 2018 interview with Apple Music

"What I don't like, is that how they really feel or are they just not even paying attention because they are doing this, they are texting? When you go to a movie theatre, a symphony, church, there are all these moments in life when people put them away and engage."

DQ Launches the Ultimate Game Day Spread—With a 'Brilliant' Nod to 'Taylor' and 'Swift'

Dairy Queen is gearing up for the Big Game.

Ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, the franchise is launching the ultimate game day spread.

We all know that half the fun of the Super Bowl (aside from the actual game and the Halftime Show) is the food, with the most popular items being wings, pizza and chips and dips!

Now DQ is taking out the stress of figuring out what to order with the latest offering, which also comes with a little cheeky Taylor and Swift nod. No, not Taylor Swift, the global superstar, but rather TyrodTaylor and D’Andre Swift.

"Despite rumors that may have been swirling late last year, the world’s most famous pop star won’t be making an appearance on stage at the big game, but in true DQ fashion – where fun and flavor are part of the playbook – the brand is bringing Taylor and Swift to fans this Sunday. Are you ready for it?" the press release shared with Parade said.
