Blake Lively Gives Fans a Rare Look at One of Her Four Kids in New Family Photos

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 7:08pm

Blake Livelydoesn't do family photos often—but when she does, the internet stops scrolling.

The actress, 38, took to Instagram on Saturday, March 28 to share a carousel of photos from a recent trip to the UK, including a very rare glimpse of one of her and Ryan Reynolds' four children.

In the softly blurred shot, Reynolds, 49, can be seen carrying their little blonde-haired kid on his shoulders as the pair stroll through a garden. It's the kind of low-key, candid family snapshot Lively rarely shares publicly, which made it all the more special for fans. It is unclear, however, which of their kids it is.

"So grateful for the best week with my loved ones," she wrote in the caption, alongside a British flag emoji. "Thank you @wrexham_afc and all the players and everyone who works at that stadium for the performance of a lifetime. The greatest 10,000 people to share an emotional roller coaster with is in Wrexham."

View this post on Instagram

The trip centered around a March 7 Football Association Challenge Cup match in Wales, where Wrexham—which is co-owned by Reynolds—faced off against Chelsea. The couple were photographed in the stands soaking it all in, packing on the PDA in the process.

The post also featured a playful nod to her sisterRobyn Lively, who appears in slide ten thinking she's being photographed for her outfit, only to discover she'd been caught on video instead. "Shout out to everyone (like my sweet sister in slide 10) who thinks someone is taking a photo of their cute outfit, when it's really a video," Blake quipped in the caption.

Other photos showed the couple shooting archery, selfies at the stadium, and a sweet photo of Lively with former Great British Baking Show judge Prue Leith—a moment many fans couldn’t help but comment on.

“Prue!! I’m so jealous! 😍,” one fan noted.

Another shared, “I’m here for @prueleith.”

Lively and Reynolds share daughters James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and their 3-year-old son, Olin.

Made from 28% polyester and 67% viscose, which is a material known for its silk-like feel, this loungewear set is soft to the touch, lightweight, and breathable. It’s ideal for spring, summer, and fall days, as it provides ample coverage while also promoting airflow to keep you from overheating. Viscose and polyester are also great at wicking away moisture, allowing sweat to quickly evaporate rather than absorbing into the fabric. The other 5% of the material is made of elastane, so it’ll stretch along with your movements.

Simple yet stylish and chic, this set features a classic oversized tee with a crewneck and drop shoulders that give it that slouchy fit. The sleeves give this top an elegant feel, gracefully hanging down and ending around the elbows. This top has a relaxed silhouette that’ll loosely drape over your body instead of clinging to your skin.

The matching bottoms have a similar flowy and unstructured silhouette. The wide-leg fit gives the pants an airy feel for all-day comfort. The waistband boasts elastic all around that’ll stretch with you instead of digging into your stomach. For convenience, both sides of the pants have cargo pockets where you can stash your essentials and go about your day hands-free.

Pair it with sneakers, sandals, and even kitten heels for a look that’s relaxed yet elevated. You can also have some fun with this set and mix and match it with other pieces in your wardrobe!

One shopper described the material as “buttery-soft” and said that it’s the “comfiest” loungewear set. Another shopper commented that the short-sleeve tee and long pants combination makes this set ideal for “all seasons.” A third added that it’s “perfect for lounging but still looks put-together enough to wear in public.”

1974 Career-Defining Classic Was a No. 1 Hit Song 52 Years Ago Today

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 6:54pm

In 1974, a teenage country singer delivered a song that would become one of the decade's most enduring hits.

The iconic artist Tanya Tucker earned a No. 1 hit with "Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)" 52 years ago today, becoming a highlight of her early career and a lasting influence on modern country music.

Born on October 10, 1958, in Seminole, Texas, Tucker began her journey in the industry at a remarkably young age. By the time this single arrived, she was still just 15 years old, already competing with widely respected country musicians.

Released in late 1973, "Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)" rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart on March 29th, 1974. The song also crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, gaining a diverse and devoted audience.

Written by David Allan Coe, the track stood out for its emotional depth and maturity. Its understated sound and honest, direct lyrics gave Tucker room to deliver a performance that felt far beyond her years.

In a 2007 interview with Country Stars Central, Tucker shared, "That's the good thing about music, you can always perform, be a performer. ... So, I'm very, very lucky in that way. My audience, my fans, keep me going."

The single's success marked her third No. 1 hit, further establishing her as one of the most prominent young voices in country music. It also demonstrated that she could produce more personal and introspective music while still connecting with a wide audience.

Over time, the song has remained closely tied to Tucker's legacy. It continues to be recognized as one of the defining tracks of her early music, capturing a moment when her voice and song choice aligned with a strength that resonated across generations.

More than five decades later, "Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)" still stands as a key part of her story, reflecting the breakout success that shaped her career.

'Tournament of Champions' VII Week 5 Live Updates: The Sweet 16 Kicks Off

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 6:44pm

Tournament of Champions VII continues as the first half of the Sweet 16 step back into the arena for four matchups.

ICYMI, last week the fourth secret culinary icon was revealed to be Aarón Sánchez, though (like two of his fellow icons), he got upset in the final round of the night by Kenny Gilbert.

The Secret Culinary Icon twist was great in theory, but most of them were so far removed from competition cooking that they just weren't ready for TOC. I think it'd be a fun thing to use again next year, but they need younger heavyweights who haven't basically retired from competition cooking. I think the four icons should've been Lorena Garcia, Marcus Samuelsson, Bobby Flay and Michael Symon.

Judges this week are Michelle Berstein, Kenny Oringer and Geoffrey Zakarian.

Beware of spoilers ahead: Don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

Matchup 1: No. 2 Jet Tila vs No. 6 Claudette Zepeda

Randomizer categories: Whole chicken for protein, Fresno peppers for produce, rolling grill basket for equipment, weeknight dinner for style and frozen peas for the wildcard ingredient.

All cooks are 35 minutes.

Dishes: Jet decided to make green pea chicken curry with rice "pea-laf," LOL. Claudette prepared pollo con sopa de arroz, which is a chicken and rice soup. She added lemongrass and hoja santa (licorice and pepper herb) to the broth.

Winner: By a score of 80 to 75, Jet defeated Claudette to advance to the Elite 8. It was use of the Randomizer that got her; he won by only one point on taste and they tied on presentation, but Jet won by four whole points on the Randomizer. That's just his TOC experience coming out. If she decides to keep coming to TOC, Claudette could be a contender.

Matchup 2: No. 2 Britt Rescigno vs No. 3 Kevin Lee

Randomizer categories: Bone-in ribeye for protein, escarole for produce, meat grinder for equipment, guilty pleasure for style and pepperoni cups for the wildcard ingredient.

Dishes: Kevin prepared a country-fried bone-in ribeye steak with gravy, while Britt went with a steakhouse burger. Honestly, ground up ribeye with pepperoni cups in the mixture made into a burger sounds dynamite.

Winner: By a score of 80 to 75, Kevin took down Britt, which is a bit of an upset just considering how well Britt has done on TOC over the years. Wow, he annihilated on taste—he won that category by six points! Britt won by one point on Randomizer and they tied on presentation.

Matchup 3: No. 4 Jonathon Sawyer vs No. 8 Aarti Sequeira

These last two matchups are the two I've most been looking forward to this week. These should be great.

Randomizer categories: Tiger prawns for protein, purple napa cabbage for produce, tortilla press for equipment, date night dinner for style and soybean curls for the wildcard ingredient.

Dishes: Aarti decided to make laksa, which is a Southeast Asian spicy coconut soup. Jonathon prepared tiger prawn and cabbage bisque with prawn chips made of rice paper in the tortilla press. That is super creative.

Winner: By a score of 85 to 79, Jonathon has advanced to the Elite 8 where he will take on Jet Tila. Jonathon won by three points on taste, two points on Randomizer and one point on presentation.

Matchup 4: No. 1 Lorena Garcia vs No. 5 Joe Sasto

Randomizer categories: Black cod for protein, sunchokes for produce, smoking gun for equipment, high-end lunch for style and canned sardines for the wildcard. I feel like this lends itself to some super fancy tacos maybe?

Dishes: Joe decided to make a sunchoke and black cod chowder with chive and bay oil and a sunchoke sardine salad on the side, while Lorena prepared smoked leche de Tigre and black cod ceviche.

Winner: By a score of 80 to 77, Joe defeated Lorena and will advance to face Kevin Lee in the Elite 8. Joe won by three points on taste and one on use of the Randomizer, while Lorena won by one point in presentation.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Ranked ‘Most Read Book’ in United States on Goodreads

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 6:22pm

Best-selling author Andy Weir is back in the spotlight as one of his most popular novels continues to resonate with readers.

His book, Project Hail Mary, has been ranked the most-read book in the United States on Goodreads over the past week, based on user activity. The distinction reflects how frequently readers are marking the book as "read," highlighting its continued popularity several years after its release.

Originally published in 2021, the novel also earned the Goodreads Choice Awards for Readers' Favorite Science Fiction Book of the Year, further cementing its status as a modern sci-fi favorite.

Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace, a man who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memories slowly return, he realizes he is on a critical mission: to save Earth from an extinction-level threat. With his crewmates dead and humanity's future at stake, Grace must rely on science, ingenuity and determination to solve an impossible problem while discovering he may not be as alone as he first believed.

"I just wanted to start right away with a mystery to grab the reader and pull them in," Weird told TheNew York Times. "One thing I've found is that if you start with a bunch of unknowns and make the reader curious, they get that satisfaction of having this thing answered, but then something else is asked and so on."

The novel has been widely praised for its blend of high-stakes storytelling, scientific detail and emotional depth, hallmarks of Weir's writing style, which first gained global attention with The Martian.

Renewed interest in the book has also been fueled by its recent film adaptation, which brings the story to the big screen. The movie, starring Ryan Gosling, has introduced the story to a wider audience, sparking fresh enthusiasm among both longtime fans and new readers.

"He added a lot of nuance to the character, just via body language and alternate lines," Weir told USA Today of Gosling's performance. "He would come up with other lines. He got to ad lib, of course. So he ended up with a much deeper, more nuanced version of Ryland than I ever wrote,: Weir says.

With its continued popularity on Goodreads and growing attention from its film release, Project Hail Mary remains one of the most talked-about science fiction stories in recent years, proving its staying power well beyond its original debut.

"The best thing you can hope for as a writer, honestly, is to just write something that you yourself would enjoy reading," said Weir. "And so I try and put myself in my readers' shoes."

6 Novels Coming in April 2026 You Cannot Afford To Miss Whatever Genre You Love

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 6:15pm

It’s not always easy to find something to read, and that’s not because there’s nothing new. There is sometimes just too much to pick, and you’re not sure where to start. While Goodreads certainly has some great options when it comes to specific genres, you may want to open your mind to other types of stories.

Even if you don’t, going through the Goodreads selection means that you end up picking something that so many others choose. You want to find the lesser-highlighted books, and we’ve got six great selections releasing in April 2026 across the genres.

‘Piper at the Gates of Dusk’ by Patrick Ness

Known for his Chaos Walking series and other science fiction books, Patrick Ness is back with a new series of novels, although it’s actually a continuation of the Chaos Walking set of stories. Piper at the Gates of Dusk is the first in his New World series, bringing a story that is set 20 years after a monstrous war that almost tore the New World apart.

Viola and Todd’s sons, Ben and Max, only new peace until now. A sudden sickness has infected all the young people, and of course, everyone wants to know where it came from. Was it the Spackel? Maybe it’s that mysterious object in the sky? As children start to disappear one-by-one, Ben and Max decide to search for answers through their own processes.

Piper at the Gates of Dusk will be released on April 1, 2026. It’s perfect for those who love sci-fi, and don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous series. This is a great jumping off point, but you’ll definitely want to read the Chaos Walking books afterward.

Penguin Random House

‘Go Gentle’ by Maria Semple

Back with her fourth novel, Maria Semple brings a touching and hilarious story about a woman who seems to have it all figured out. Adora Hazzard may be a divorcee, but she is content with her life on the Upper West Side of New York City. She has her job, her daughter, and a “coven” of like-minded single women.

Only, there is a secret that she has kept from everyone. This secret threatens to get out, as a charming secret walks into her life. Adora suddenly realizes that she may be missing something after all, but is she willing to risk it all for whatever this is? Is it even all worth it?

Go Gentle will be released on April 14, 2026. It’s perfect for those looking for a bit of romance, while also looking out for something that sparks positivity and creativity. It’s focused on life, and sometimes, that’s what we need.

HarperCollins

‘The Hotel Guest’ by Rosemary Hennigan

A young woman, Kit, is heading back to Abbaye de Saint Maurice in the French Alps decades after a previous visit. Her first visit was for a summer job, which was supposed to be a new start, but soon, a mysterious group of guests threatened everything, including her darkest secret.

So, she fled, and now she’s back. She couldn’t help but return, where she learns that her former flame is writing a memoir to expose the mysterious group’s secret. Could Kit decide that the group that threatened everything is worth protecting, or will she choose the man she is interested in?

The Hotel Guest by Rosemary Hennigan will be released on April 28, 2026. This is something for those who like a little drama and mystery, while also looking for something a little more psychological in nature.

‘Purple State’by Dana Perino

Have you ever questioned if love can cross the political spectrum? Can we cross party lines and have a successful relationship, or is this something fundamental to who we are? Purple State by Dana Perino questions that, as 25-year-old New York PR professional Dot searches for something new in a small town.

She gets the cozy cafes and the lack of hustle in her day, and she’s even up for the challenge to flip the Wisconsin area blue. However, what she doesn’t expect is to fall for a hockey-loving local, Danny, who is everything that New York men are not. And now she needs to question if there’s a way to make things work.

Purple State is coming out on April 21, 2026. If you’re looking for a romance that has all the questions you’ve been thinking about yourself, this is the novel for you.

‘Mrs. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block’ by Jesse Q. Sutanto

Do you need a comedy in your life? How about something that is a little like Legally Blonde but set in the culinary world? Mrs. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block by Jesse Q. Sutanto is a must, following the titular character, who is a doting Chinese Indonesian trophy wife. When she finds out that her husband, Henk, is leaving her for a must-young private chef, she decides to enrol in culinary school.

Of course, the hilarity begins just by Mebel enrolling in a program in a rainy, tiny English countryside town rather than Paris. As she does start to make friends, she realizes that this venture is no longer about revenge after all. It’s all about finding herself and doing something that she loves.

Mrs. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block is coming out on April 28, 2026. It’s a must for those who need a story about a woman starting again in her 60s, and in a genuine and hilarious way.

Costco's Farmhouse-Style Outdoor Kitchen Island Will Be the Epicenter of All Your Al Fresco Meals

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 6:05pm

My obsession with indoor-outdoor living is very real. I love those homes where the walls basically disappear and the whole space opens up to a perfectly styled patio. I mean, why choose between inside and outside when you can just blur the line completely? Particularly when the weather warms up, the very idea of a living room spiling into fresh air and a dining space stretching into the sunshine feels so light and inviting.

It's pretty amazing how much bigger a home can feel when you invite the outdoors in, and let the indoors flow out. Even a smaller space takes on this airy, almost resort-like vibe when there's that seamless connection. Add in some cozy outdoor seating, plants and soft lighting, and you've basically got an extra room—it's just outside. It’s aspirational, sure, but also surprisingly attainable in little ways.

1975 Timeless Classic Was a No. 1 Hit Song 51 Years Ago Today

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 5:17pm

In 1975, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes released a song that would become one of the defining tracks of the disco era.

Their single, "Bad Luck," climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles and also topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play, helping cement the group's place in music history.

Written and produced by the legendary team of Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, the song was a hallmark of the Philadelphia soul sound that defined much of the decade. With its driving rhythm, lush instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics, "Bad Luck" stood out as both a dance floor hit and a message-driven track.

"In my view, Harold Melvin was a very talented person," Gamble told Wax Poetic in 2021. "Harold Melvin could take anybody. Give him thirty days. He would have you in a tuxedo, patent leather shoes, and have you dancing on the stage. He was great. God bless him. He passed away now, but he was a great man."

The group, featuring standout lead vocals from Teddy Pendergrass, brought a powerful emotional intensity to the song, elevating it beyond a typical disco record. Pendergrass' commanding voice gave weight to the song’s themes of struggle and resilience.

"A lot of the time, the people didn't know who Harold Melvin was because they would see Teddy Pendergrass out there singing," said Gamble. "He was singing his heart out. There's nobody to even compare to Teddy Pendergrass in those days or even right now. I don't know nobody that can even compare to Teddy Pendergrass. The guy was unbelievable."

"Bad Luck" also played a key role in bridging the gap between soul and disco, helping to shape the sound that would dominate clubs and radio throughout the late 1970s. Its influence can still be heard in later dance and R&B music.

More than five decades later, "Bad Luck" remains a timeless classic, one that continues to resonate for both its infectious groove and its enduring message.

Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless star Stacy Haiduk is sharing personal advice about confidence and self-trust in a recent interview on social media.

Haiduk appeared on her Days of Our Lives co-star Sal Stowers’ social media series, Women to Women, where guests share advice and life lessons for future generations.

She began with a simple message: “Trust in your gut,” she said.

Haiduk elaborated on that idea, encouraging people to listen to their instincts. “That voice inside you that whether it’s good or bad, you need to take a moment, take a break, understand that you don’t have to say yes right away. Trust in that,” she said.

Her second piece of advice centered on what she called ‘know thyself.’ She explained, “knowing thy self takes a long time, it’s the journey of life that we have and its discovering things and trying new things and being bold out in the world.”

She added, “Being brave out in the world. Be yourself, but you only get to be yourself and know yourself when you take that step into the abyss.”

The beloved actress concluded, “So trust that it will all be there. Use your gut and be bold out there in the world.”

Haiduk recently thrilled fans by returned to The Young and the Restless as the iconic Patty Williams, following nearly a decade long absence from the role.

In an interview with TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane, Haiduk explained that Days of Our Lives had made the decision to rest her character and had written her off canvas, allowing her to pursue other opportunities when The Young and the Restless reached out.

Behind that stunning floral arrangement is an LED sign that says, "There's so much beauty it could make you cry." It's such a simple message but one that often gets lost in our day to day.

"Wonderful reminder," Gaines wrote in the caption.

To kick off spring, her Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas are doing their best to bring a little bit of beauty to everyone with a series of events appropriately titled Spring at the Silos. It includes both free and ticketed activities for all ages, running from March 6 through April 25 (so, yes, there's still time to check it out if you're in the area).

"This is how I feel going to your guys’ section in Target," they wrote.

I’ve Read What People Are Calling the Next ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ — But It’s Much Darker

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 5:04pm

In a world where women speak 13,000 to 16,000 words a day, it’s hard to imagine one where we’re silenced. It’s no wonder then that Vox by Christina Dalcher is presented as something perfect for The Handmaid’s Tale fans. After all, the cover is sure to make you think of that scene when Aunt Lydia pulls down the cover of the Handmaid’s mouth in the Capitol to realize that her mouth has been pinned shut.

Vox goes a slightly different route, bringing more of a sci-fi element to the story, but it’s one that stands out. It’s a world where women have been silenced, only allowed to speak 100 words per day, and when they speak more than that, they’re given electric shocks that get more painful the more they push their limit.

Despite being out since 2018, Vox is gaining a new audience. This is likely because it’s described as the next Handmaid’s Tale, but it is far darker when you look at all the details of the world.

A World Where Even Sign Language Is Banned

What about writing things down? Or maybe it’s possible to sign? Women can’t even do that. They try to do the simplest thing, such as blow a kiss, and yet, they’re punished for that. Young girls aren’t taught how to read or write fully, because what’s the point? They won’t need to work, so there’s no need to learn any of this.

Like in The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, some people were able to escape. They saw what was coming, and they headed to Canada or Mexico, as America became the laughing stock of the world. However, our lead protagonist, Jean, couldn’t do that. Her young daughter didn’t have a passport, and when she went to apply for it, not only did it never come, but her own passport was confiscated.

Now, the families are prisoners in their own country, and young children are being raised with the new way of life. Jean tries hard not to hate her own sons and husband, but she can’t help it, especially as one son shows he’s more and more indoctrinated into the system.

It’s hard not to feel for Jean in this situation, and as a mother, it’s easy to feel her pain in thinking how much she hates one of her sons. This isn’t the man she would have raised, but she’s getting no choice in the system. All she sees is how her daughter is going to be raised without even knowing the life before, and there’s an element of helplessness in it.

At one point, her daughter, Sonia, complains about being taken out of school, sharing that she was going to win the contest at school that day. The contest? Speaking as few words as possible, and the day before, she had only spoken two during the school day, making it clear that she was fully into the idea of speaking less simply because she was so young.

A Book Designed to Make You Think

This is one of those novels that is designed to make you think about the current situation now and what could be. Of course, there are elements that simply aren’t possible in the world that we live in today, but it feels like it’s only because technology isn’t quite there that leads to the world of Vox not being created.

Is this a perfectly written novel? No, there are moments that the plot speeds by a little too quickly. There were times I had to go back, feeling like I’d missed something because of the speed. That doesn’t take away from the thought-provoking story we’re pulled into, although the ending could have done with just a little more work. Something was missing, as we just seemed to get there with an “ah ha” moment, which, for the world that was created, didn’t quite make sense.

I don't want to get into too many details here because of spoilers. However, in this world, it turns out that Jean is one of two women who are needed to help further particular language science, which is somewhat ironic considering the men want to keep women silent. She initially doesn't want to help, but as she's given an opportunity she can't pass up, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Part of what makes this story a little darker than The Handmaid’s Tale is the way that it explains how the regime formed. We get to hear of the protests that came before, and how certain people rose to power and gradually took over in a larger way. It’s something that The Handmaid’s Tale TV series eventually gets into, but the book doesn’t, and that’s simply due to the form of storytelling.

So, if you are looking for another book like The Handmaid’s Tale with a darker twist, Vox should be on your TBR pile.

2000s Actress With Major Hit Song Turns 45

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 4:58pm

"Let me be your star!"

Megan Hilty, best known for her various roles on Broadway, such as Glinda in Wicked, Brooke Ashton in Noises Off and Madeline Ashton in Death Becomes Her, is celebrating her 45th birthday on Sunday. She also starred on the musical TV drama SMASH from February 2012 to May 2013, playing Ivy Lynn and singing the Grammy-nominated song, "Let Me Be Your Star."

Born and raised in Bellevue, Washington, Hilty began voice lessons when she was 12 years old and became interested in opera. She ended up attending Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in 2004, and made her Broadway debut as the standby for Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked, alongside Idina Menzel. Eventually, she took over the role from Jennifer Laura Thompson in May 2005 for a year.

While performing in various theaters around the country, Hilty also made multiple TV appearances in different shows such as The Closer, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Ugly Betty, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Desperate Housewives and Shark. In 2012, the actress starred as Ivy Lynn in NBC's SMASH, which follows a New York City theater community and the creation of a new Broadway musical. The show's first season garnered many nominations at the Emmy Awards, Golden Globes and the Grammys.

"Let Me Be Your Star," one of the most popular songs in the series and in the Broadway community, is sung in SMASH's pilot episode as a duet with Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee). Written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, but in the show's universe, it was written by songwriting duo Tom Levitt (Christian Borle) and Julia Houston (Debra Messing), Karen and Ivy (Hilty) sing the song as each of them is preparing and auditioning for the leading role of Marilyn Monroe, for a fictional musical based on the 1950s star's life titled Bombshell. The song was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and the Grammy Award for Best Written Song for Visual Media.

After the series ended in two seasons, Hilty played Liz on another NBC sitcom titled Sean Saves the World.

Though SMASH ended 13 years ago, the fanbase and theater community still rally behind the NBC sitcom. In an interview with CBS, Hilty wondered, "Where were [the fans] years ago?!"

"The fan base has grown so much since the show got canceled, which is sad," she told the news outlet in 2015. "The show ended just as I feel like the whole binge-watching phenomenon started, so now people are looking for shows to binge-watch, and I think that's where all these amazing fans have come from. I'm reading on Twitter all over the place, 'I can't believe I missed this while it was on air, and now I can't get enough of it.'"

Hilty finished her run in Death Becomes Her on Broadway earlier this year, which gave her a second Tony nomination, and is now preparing for a concert tour around the East Coast and London. She is set to open for her Megan Hilty in Concert series in the Round House Theater in Bethesda, Maryland, on April 18, and conclude her run on July 5 at the Town Hall in Massachusetts.

Tickets for Hilty's upcoming tour are available on her official website, and SMASH can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video or rented on Apple TV for $2.99.

Trader Joe's 'Whimsical' New Candies Have Fans Buzzing This Spring

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 4:43pm

Some customers love Trader Joe's best for their healthier and affordable options — but the popular grocer also has its fair share of delicious sweets.

And just recently, the chain introduced Mushroom Shaped Gummy Candies for a limited time, and they've certainly got fans buzzing online for their festive cuteness and citrusy, sour flavor.

The gummies got some love from Martha Stewart's website recently, for example.

"Their chewy texture and fine coating of sour sanding sugar are reminiscent of other pucker-inducing sweets and are perfect for tucking into Easter baskets or stashing in your tote," reads the enticing write-up on Stewart's site.

The Instagram account @traderjoesobsessed also plugged the gummies in a recent post, boasting that they're "so cute and would be a perfect cake topper for a mushroom theme or for cupcakes $2.29." Check out the product's preview image below.

View this post on Instagram

"Made for us in Germany, these whimsical Gummy Candies are shaped like rosy little Mushrooms, complete with pink button caps and pale stems, courtesy of fruit & veggie juice," reads the product description on Trader Joe's website. "Each mini Mushroom offers a lively combination of sweet and sour, with a charmingly chewy texture and pixie dust-like coating of sour sanding sugar (an extra-fine blend of sugar, citric acid, and malic acid—the latter of which works in tandem with apple juice concentrate to enhance the Gummies fresh, apple-y flavor profile)."

On that note, if you're now enticed to stop by your Trader Joe's location to purchase a bag or two, Parade recently offered a friendly word of advice for customers: Make sure the insides of your reusable bags are in decent shape for the employees at checkout!

There have been online forums created by frustrated cashiers, believe it or not, who have dealt with packing customers' items into noticeably gross bags. One reported on Reddit that they once found a cockroach inside, for instance.

"It’s serious," said the source, “but Tiger has yet to look in the mirror and say, 'You’re 50 years old and need to act like it.'"

The insider continued to People, "He is enabled by people making money off of his talent and reputation, but with his injuries and age, he is frustrated and depressed about his state of health. He wants to play in major tournaments like the Masters, but he needs to get real. Once he does that, he should be better off because people do like Tiger. He is a good person."

Those close to Woods say that the athlete "has never really gotten over" the death of his father, Earl Woods, in 2006.

"Tiger needs to get a grip on his limitations and make arrangements for them," said the source. “His peace of mind has run amok over golf and his pain."

Woods had recently returned to professional golf after recovering from multiple injuries. He had undergone back surgery earlier this year and had suffered a ruptured achilles last year.

The insider also commented on Woods being a very private person who "despises public scrutiny."

"He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games," said the same source.

Woods had been previously involved in two other major car accidents in 2009 and 2021. The 2021 crash in Los Angeles led him to sustain serious injuries.

11 Best Barrier Repair Creams To Calm Stressed-Out Skin, Tested by Dermatologists

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 4:26pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If your skin suddenly can't tolerate products that used to work fine, feels tight and uncomfortable after washing, or looks red and inflamed for no apparent reason, your skin barrier is probably compromised.

But before you blame the weather, stress or bad genes, the most common culprit is actually something you're doing to yourself: over-exfoliating, layering too many actives or using trendy multistep routines with harsh ingredients your skin can't handle.

The skin barrier—that outermost protective layer dermatologists call the stratum corneum—functions like a wall protecting you from the outside world. When that wall is intact, your skin stays hydrated, calm and resilient. When it's damaged, moisture escapes, irritants get in and suddenly everything stings. The good news? Barrier repair creams can fix this, often within weeks, by replenishing the exact lipids your skin has lost.

We consulted board-certified dermatologists to find out which barrier repair creams actually work and what you need to know before buying one.

Related:11 Best Skin-Tightening Moisturizers, According to Celebrity Derms

Top Barrier Repair CreamsWhat Is the Skin Barrier, Exactly?

Think of it as your skin's protective shield—and it's more fragile than you'd expect.

All six dermatologists we consulted used the same analogy to explain the skin barrier, which tells you how universal and useful it is. Dr. Halliday McDonald, board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of ERLY Skincare, describes it as a brick wall, explaining, "The skin cells are the bricks and lipids like ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids act as the mortar that holds everything together."

This outermost layer—the stratum corneum—does three critical jobs.

"A healthy barrier performs three critical functions: prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and maintains hydration, protects against irritants, microbes and allergens, and regulates inflammation and immune signaling in the skin," explains Dr. Ali Shahbaz.

When that system works properly, Dr. Whitney Hovenic notes, "skin typically appears hydrated, calm and healthy."

But when it's damaged? "Skin becomes dry, sensitive and prone to inflammation," McDonald says. Dr. Nicole Lee adds that you'll notice "dryness, redness, sensitivity or a tight or uncomfortable feeling in the skin."

What Are Barrier Repair Creams?

What makes barrier repair creams different from regular moisturizers is that they don't just hydrate the surface. They actually restore the structural integrity of your skin barrier with ingredients that mimic what's naturally there. Think of it as rebuilding that brick wall rather than just painting over the cracks.

The goal, as Dr. Brendan Camp puts it, is to "help skin retain moisture, calm inflammation and improve the texture and appearance of skin" by restoring it back to its healthy state.

These creams are helpful for dry, sensitive or compromised skin because they contain "lipids that mimic the skin's natural structure, such as ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids, along with humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid that attract water into the skin." Dr. McDonald says.

Related: 9 Korean Skincare Staples Professionals Reach for Again and Again

How Does the Skin Barrier Become Damaged?

Spoiler: you're probably doing it to yourself with your skincare routine. Dr. McDonald sees this pattern constantly in her clinic. "One of the most common causes I see is overuse of skincare products with harsh actives. Multi-step skincare routines have become very trendy, and people are often using products that are inappropriate for their skin type or layering products incorrectly," she explains. "Over-exfoliation with acids or scrubs is also very common."

And it's not just aggressive exfoliation. "Other triggers include harsh cleansers, retinoid overuse, environmental stressors like cold weather or low humidity and inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or rosacea," Dr. McDonald shares. "Even frequent washing can disrupt the barrier."

Dr. Hovenic lists additional culprits: "pollution and UV exposure, and even chronic stress or poor sleep." Dr. Shahbaz adds that aging itself can cause issues since it leads to "reduced lipid synthesis."

The result? "When this happens, the skin loses moisture more easily and becomes more reactive to products that previously felt fine," McDonald notes.

Dr. Shahbaz adds that "ceramide levels decline, TEWL increases and the skin becomes more susceptible to inflammation and irritation."

What Skin Barrier Repair Ingredients Should I Look For?

The three key lipids appear on every dermatologist's list.

"The most important barrier repair ingredients to look for are ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol, which are the lipids that naturally make up the skin barrier," Dr. Hovenic says. These ingredients are among the most well-supported for helping restore barrier function.

"Ceramides are especially important because they make up a large portion of the skin barrier and help prevent moisture loss," she adds. "Cholesterol and fatty acids are also key because they work alongside ceramides to rebuild the barrier structure."

Beyond the core lipids, Dr. Lee recommends looking for "glycerin, hyaluronic acid and panthenol. Ingredients like niacinamide can also help strengthen the barrier by improving lipid production and reducing inflammation."

Dr. Hovenic agrees, noting she likes to see "niacinamide, which can help strengthen the barrier and reduce inflammation, along with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin."

Dr. Camp adds soothing ingredients to the list: "centella asiatica and aloe" for reducing inflammation, plus "squalane and shea butter" for enhancing texture.

How Often Should I Use Barrier Repair Creams?

Twice daily is the standard, but severely compromised skin might need more. As for when exactly, the experts say morning and night.

But if your barrier is really damaged? "If the barrier is significantly compromised, for example after a chemical peel, retinoid irritation or eczema flare, using a thicker cream more frequently throughout the day can help accelerate healing," McDonald advises.

Dr. Chang Son is even more aggressive for acute damage: "If you have active skin damage (e.g., acute sunburn or severe dehydration), I recommend applying the product aggressively—multiple times per day—until repair is achieved."

Patience is key. "Barrier repair takes time, so consistency is key. Most people start seeing improvement after four to six weeks of regular use," Hovenic shares.

Related:A Dermatologist Says This Habit Makes Skin Look Older

Are Barrier Repair Creams Good for Eczema?

All six dermatologists gave the same emphatic answer: yes.

McDonald shares a fascinating detail about the genetic component. "In a common form of eczema called atopic dermatitis, there is often an underlying genetic defect in the skin barrier, most commonly involving a protein called filaggrin. Filaggrin helps organize and strengthen the outer layer of the skin and plays an important role in maintaining hydration," she explains.

So, when this protein is deficient or dysfunctional, the skin barrier becomes more permeable, allowing moisture to escape while irritants, allergens and microbes penetrate more easily.

The solution? "Regular use of barrier repairing moisturizers helps restore the lipid structure of the skin, reduce dryness and decrease the frequency of flares," McDonald shares.

Lee agrees, explaining, "These creams help restore the skin's protective layer, which reduces moisture loss and makes the skin less reactive to irritants."

"For atopic dermatitis, it's also important to have an appropriate medical treatment regimen, usually including prescription medications, to manage the underlying inflammation," Dr. Son says.

Can Anyone Use Barrier Repair Cream?

Almost everyone can benefit, even if your skin isn't currently damaged, but they’re particularly helpful for people with dry, sensitive, eczema prone or over-treated skin.

But even people with oily skin may benefit from barrier repair cream: "When the barrier is healthy, the skin is better able to regulate oil production and tolerate active ingredients." Dr. Hovenic says. The key, as Dr. McDonald points out, is choosing a formula that matches your skin type so it provides hydration without feeling too heavy.

Dr. Hovenic calls this "a dermatologist-developed classic that contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic formula suitable for most skin types."

Three experts rave about this balm, which tells you how effective it is for damaged skin. Dr. Hovenic describes it as "a rich balm formulated with panthenol, shea butter and madecassoside to soothe and support severely dry or compromised skin."

Dr. Camp loves that it's a "multi-purpose skin protectant cream" that "hydrates cracked, chapped, chafed skin" with ingredients like "panthenol, thermal spring water and madecassoside, which is derived from the centella asiatica plant."

Dr. McDonald calls it her best drugstore pick for helping "skin recover from dryness, procedures or over exfoliation."

Dr. Hovenic suggests using this for acne-prone skin because it's "a lightweight formula that delivers ceramides and peptides while remaining suitable for acne-prone skin." Finding a barrier repair cream that doesn't feel heavy or cause breakouts is challenging, and this solves that problem.

The gel-cream texture absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy film, while the peptides add anti-aging benefits alongside barrier repair.

Dr. Hovenic recommends this "for patients looking to pair barrier support with advanced anti-aging care." What makes this unique is that it combines barrier repair with peptides and other actives specifically designed to address aging skin.

As skin matures, it naturally produces fewer lipids, so this formula replenishes what's been lost while also supporting collagen production and skin firmness. It's a favorite in dermatology offices for post-procedure care and mature skin that needs both barrier support and anti-aging benefits.

Dr. Lee recommends this because "it replenishes ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids in a ratio designed to mimic the skin's natural lipid composition." That specific ratio matters—it's not just about including these ingredients but getting the proportions right to match what your skin naturally produces.

This is the cream dermatologists reach for when regular moisturizers aren't cutting it. The rich texture feels luxurious and works beautifully for mature skin that's lost natural lipid production.

Best Luxury: Epicutis Hyvia Crème, $195

Epicutis

Dr. Lee calls this "a beautiful barrier-supportive formula that combines hydration with anti-inflammatory peptides to help calm the skin and strengthen the barrier."

What sets this apart is the peptide complex that goes beyond basic barrier repair to actively reduce inflammation. It's particularly good for skin that's both compromised and inflamed—think rosacea, post-procedure or hormonal sensitivity.

Dr. McDonald says this is great for extreme situations because "it forms a protective seal over the skin and can reduce transepidermal water loss by up to 99 percent. By preventing moisture from escaping, it creates an optimal environment for the skin barrier to repair itself."

This is also what dermatologists recommend after laser treatments, chemical peels or any situation where your skin is raw and needs serious protection. The only caveat? "Don't use if allergic to lanolin," McDonald warns.

Best Lightweight: Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream, $50

Sephora

Dr. Shahbaz specifically recommends this for oily skin types who need barrier repair without heavy texture.

The gel-cream formula absorbs quickly and layers well under makeup. The ceramide complex is potent enough to repair compromised skin while the lightweight texture won't cause congestion. It's particularly popular with people in humid climates who need barrier support but can't tolerate thick creams.

Best Soothing: Avène Cicalfate Cream, $25.99

Ulta

Both Dr. Shahbaz and Dr. Camp recommend this for its calming properties. Dr. Camp specifically loves the emulsion version with "thermal spring water, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and a copper zinc-sulfate complex" that creates "a lightweight, soothing recovery emulsion that helps restore skin and provide intense hydration."

Avène's thermal spring water is clinically proven to calm irritation, making this ideal for skin that's inflamed and compromised simultaneously.

Best for Reactive Skin: Tower 28 SOS Recovery Cream, $24

Amazon

Dr. Shahbaz recommends this specifically for sensitive, reactive skin. Tower 28 is a clean beauty brand founded by someone with severe eczema, so every product is formulated with truly sensitive skin in mind.

The cream is free of potential irritants while still delivering the ceramides and lipids needed for barrier repair. It's particularly good for people who've had reactions to multiple products and need something ultra-gentle that still works.

Daphnée Duplaix Opens Up About Nicole’s 'Carefree' New Life on 'Beyond the Gates'

Sun, 03/29/2026 - 4:19pm

After years of marriage, Beyond the Gates star Daphnée Duplaix is revealing how Nicole Richardson Dupree is navigating her new life, and a sizzling new romance, after her world was ‘blown to smithereens.’

In a recent interview on The Gatekeepers Podcast, Duplaix discussed the character’s evolving storyline.

Duplaix said Nicole initially struggled with the change. “She was definitely torn at the beginning because it's so not who she is,” she explained.

However, she said conversations with Nicole’s sister Dani (Karla Mosley) and her mother Anita (Tamara Tunie) helped shift her perspective. “After speaking to her sister and her mother, and they both had the same thing to say, she leaned into it and she's exploring and she's having fun,” Duplaix said.

After years of marriage to Ted (Keith D. Robinson), Duplaix noted that this phase is entirely new for Nicole. “It is the first time that she's been carefree and let loose,” she said.

Duplaix described Nicole as “very type A,” adding that she’s now embracing a lighter, more spontaneous side of herself.

Nicole is currently exploring relationships with Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley) and Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan).

Duplaix reflected on filming multiple romantic scenes, with both of her suitors, so close together. “When we had the two bedroom scenes a day apart or two days apart, I was like two guys in a week. I was like, I can't believe they wrote that, but let's go for it,” she said.

The actress added that Nicole’s shift comes after a major emotional upheaval. “She came out of something that pretty much took over her entire life, her family, her husband. When that got blown to smithereens, she just wanted to be soft and not resentful and angry. So when these two opportunities came up, she was like, ‘Screw it,’” she said.
