Every generation has that one movie that really defines it.

With Generation X, whose coming of age coincided with a seismic shift in Hollywood, cinema moved from the 1970s blockbuster era to the gritty independent boom of the 1990s. That shift helped shape a generation defined by rebellious, cynical, and groundbreaking films with undeniable swagger.

According to Collider, there’s one film—a Royale with cheese, if you will—that captures all of the above and more: Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 gem, Pulp Fiction.

“For Generation X, disillusionment and irony were defining traits,” the outlet writes about the film it considers Gen X’s most important, “and no film captured that cultural moment like Pulp Fiction. It turned the rules of narrative upside down, weaving together nonlinear storylines filled with pop culture banter, sudden bursts of violence, and memorable characters.”

Released inOctober 1994, Pulp Fiction is a crime thriller told through four primary vignettes out of chronological order. Set in Los Angeles over two days, it scrambles the lives of hitmen, a boxer, a mobster’s wife, and diner thieves into a fragmented narrative that embodies the irreverent spirit many associate with Gen X.

“For Gen X, Pulp Fiction felt like a generational manifesto: irreverent, rebellious, and endlessly quotable,” Collider says. “It was the film that proved their worldview, fragmented, cynical, but alive with possibility, belonged on the big screen.”

Written and directed by Tarantino, whose résumé already included Reservoir Dogs and the screenplay for True Romance, Pulp Fiction brought together a Who’s Who of Hollywood, with John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, Tim Roth, and many others embodying a “new kind of cool.”

Together, they gave life to Tarantino’s mosaic of morally ambiguous criminals, fixers, and dreamers.

“No movie captured this sensibility with more swagger, and its impact was immediate and seismic,” the outlet says. “Pulp Fiction influenced countless filmmakers and reshaped how audiences thought about storytelling. Its meta quality, referencing scores of movies and shows, also resonated with a generation who had grown up with home video and easy access to cinema's classics.”

Another reason the film resonated so deeply was its soundtrack. A genre-defying mix of surf rock, soulful R&B, classic pop, and country, it was perfect for what Tarantino famously described as his “rock and roll spaghetti western.”

“I never understood what the hell [surf rock] had to do with surfing,” Tarantino told Rolling Stone. “I don't see the connection between this music and surfing—to me, it sounded like rock and roll spaghetti western music. What I don’t want to do is, and I see it happen in a lot of movies, [is] just turn up the soundtrack to create a false energy.”

From Dick Dale’s "Misirlou," The Centurians' "Bullwinkle Part II," and Link Wray’s “Ace of Spades,” to Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell,” Urge Overkill's “Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon,” and Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man,” the needle drops became as memorable as the dialogue itself.

The soundtrack went on to become a multi-platinum bestseller that peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 and lingered on the chart for 70 weeks. Meanwhile, the film earned seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, with Tarantino and Roger Avary winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Now 32 years later, Pulp Fiction is still wearing the crown. If every generation has that one defining movie, Gen X has never needed a second choice.

Few love songs dominated the charts in the '70s quite like "Tonight's the Night."

Released in 1976, Rod Stewart's tender ballad became one of the biggest hits of his career, spending an impressive eight consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nearly 50 years later, it continues to stand as one of the defining soft rock anthems of the decade.

The song showcased a different side of Stewart.

Co-written by Stewart, "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" traded the swagger of his earlier rock hits for an intimate, acoustic-driven arrangement centered on romance and vulnerability. His unmistakably raspy voice, paired with gentle guitars and understated instrumentation, gave the recording a warmth that resonated with listeners around the world.

"This came to me in the middle of the night, as songs often do," Stewart said in an interview. "I always keep a note pad and cassette recorder by my bed, among other things. Steve Cropper and I worked out the arrangement on Friday morning and it was in the can by Friday night, lyrics being finished by the following evening. We spent more time working on the somewhat complicated intro than the song itself. It was banned by many radio stations because of its lyrical content, but, nevertheless, a little scandal never did anyone any harm."

The lyric in question was suggestive, and loaded with innuendo: "Spread your wings and let me come inside." But, the sexual nature of the lyrics didn't stop audiences from listening; in fact, it had the exact opposite result: The single became an immediate sensation.

It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight straight weeks, making it the longest-running No. 1 hit of Stewart's career. The song also reached No. 1 in Canada and became a major international success, helping propel the album A Night on the Town to the top of the charts.

Part of the song's lasting appeal comes from its emotional restraint.

Rather than relying on sweeping orchestration or dramatic vocal flourishes, "Tonight's the Night" unfolds with quiet confidence, gradually building its romantic atmosphere through subtle instrumentation and heartfelt delivery. That understated approach helped make it a cornerstone of the soft rock movement that flourished throughout the late 1970s.

The track also featured a French spoken word section, which was performed by Stewart's then-girlfriend.

"I was going out with Britt Ekland," he told Mojoin 1995. "I'd just moved [to the United States.] So that's 20 years ago. I remember I got her drunk, pissed as a fart to sing that old French bollocks on the end, because she didn't want to do it."

The song also became one of Stewart's signature recordings, joining classics such as "Maggie May," "You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)," "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and "Forever Young." Decades later, it remains a staple of classic hits and adult contemporary radio, introducing new generations to one of his most successful performances.

Although musical trends have changed dramatically since its release, "Tonight's the Night" has retained its popularity thanks to its timeless melody and universally relatable themes of love and anticipation. It continues to rank among the standout ballads of Stewart's remarkable catalog.

Nearly 50 years after spending eight weeks at No. 1, "Tonight's the Night" remains one of soft rock's most enduring classics. Its combination of heartfelt songwriting, memorable vocals and understated production has ensured its place as one of the defining love songs of the 1970s.

Richard Gere almost abandoned one of his most memorable films all because of one missing piece. In a recent interview on The Movie Podcast, Gere revealed that Primal Fear nearly fell apart before it even started filming, due to a casting struggle that had him ready to quit the project entirely. The role in question: Aaron Stampler, the troubled 19-year-old altar boy accused of murder, whom Gere's character agrees to defend pro bono.

According to Gere, the search for the right actor proved far more difficult than expected. While plenty of big-name young actors auditioned for the part, they kept falling short. "They did fine with the crazy part, but they weren't believable as being normal," he explained, noting how essential that balance was to the character.

Gere, now 76, admitted he'd reached a breaking point. "I said, 'We can't do it without an actor who can play that part, it won't work,'" he recalled. Just as he was ready to walk away, a casting director in New York flagged one final audition. "This kid walked in. I think he's really terrific," the casting director told the team. That "kid" was Edward Norton.

Norton, then completely unknown, flew out to read opposite Gere. The impact was immediate. "We all thought, 'Wow, what has he done? Nothing,'" Gere said, recalling the team's disbelief at how strong Norton's performance was for someone without any film credits. Wanting to be sure it wasn't a fluke, they brought him back for a second read and Norton somehow surpassed himself. "He was, and is, that kind of extraordinary talent that he can be believable and lying at the same time," Gere said.

That audition changed everything. Primal Fear went on to become Norton's film debut, and his performance as Aaron Stampler earned him a Golden Globe win, along with Best Supporting Actor nominations at both the Oscars and BAFTAs. 

Nearly three decades later, it's hard to imagine anyone else in the role. Primal Fear turned out to be a launchpad for what would become one of Hollywood's most respected acting careers. Proof that sometimes, the right casting decision comes down to the wire and greatness is often just undiscovered potential.

His longtime partner, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, gave followers a behind-the-scenes look at her trip to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium ahead of Norway's quarterfinal against England on Saturday, July 11, sharing a series of Instagram Stories from game day. 

She kicked things off with a smiling selfie on the way to the stadium before posting a video of the pitch as fans began filling the stands. Then came the outfit reveal.

Johansen showed off a form-fitting dress version of the Norwegian jersey and Haaland's full name “Braut Haaland” across the back, posing outside the stadium before thanking the woman who seemingly designed it. She wrote, "@fioonaax Beautiful dress. Glad we could make this happen. Thank you so much." She followed up with more pics of the dress on her main feed, including one that was featured on the cover of Elle Norway.

While Johansen has become a familiar face in the stands during Haaland's biggest matches, the couple has actually known each other for years. Both grew up in Bryne, Norway, and played soccer for the same local club before reconnecting as adults and beginning a relationship around 2021, according to the South China Morning Post.

Haaland, 25, has even revealed that Johansen was the one who made the first move. "She sent me a message. But she played for the same club I played for, Bryne. So she checked me out, I didn't check her out," he recalled during an interview with NRK.

The pair share a son together

The pair welcomed their first child, a son, in December 2024 and have, for the most part, kept their family life out of the spotlight. Johansen, meanwhile, has built a career of her own as a fashion influencer.

Johansen has been nothing but supportive throughout her man’s World Cup run. She’s shared several glimpses of the experience on social media, including photos from the stands and post-game celebrations.

The matches and celebrations of the 2026 FIFA World Cup are still well underway, with Norway and England playing their quarterfinal match today and the final game of the tournament just one week away on July 19. Yet, at the same time, the global soccer/fútbol community is processing a terrible tragedy.

At just 25 years old, South African midfielder Jayden Adams has passed away. News of his death was announced early in the day on July 11, although his cause of death remains unknown at present. Adams' passing devastatingly comes just two and a half weeks after the South African team had a remarkable World Cup win in their match against South Korea on June 24, with a final score of 1-0.

Although South Africa did not ultimately proceed beyond the group stage at this year's World Cup, they delivered a solid performance, tying 1-1 with Czechia on June 18 and only giving up one point to Canada in a 0-1 game on June 28 after losing 0-2 to Mexico in their first game of the tournament on June 11. With that solid effort from the team, the 2026 World Cup felt like only the beginning for Adams, which makes his sudden, unexpected death all the more shocking and painful.

To honor Adams, the Norway versus England game began with a moment of silence for the late player, with both teams standing on the field, side-by-side with their teammates.

The South African Football Players Union also posted a message on X about Adams' passing, saying, "Death has cruelly stolen one of our own. It has robbed our nation of a remarkable footballer, but it will never take away the legacy Jayden Adams leaves behind. We will forever remember his humility, his extraordinary talent and the pride with which he represented South Africa. Rest in eternal peace, Jayden. You will never be forgotten🙏🏾."

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young was celebrated as one of the greatest supergroups in history, but the legendary quartet's legacy was also remembered for its turbulent relationships, earning it a place among the "messiest band breakups" of all time.

Revisiting the feuds and personal conflicts that overshadowed its remarkable success, Rolling Stone compiled its list of the 50 ugliest breakups in the music industry, featuring bands that experienced bitter legal feuds, fractured relationships and onstage brawls.

With music icon the Beatles topping the rankings, followed by Oasis, Live, Sonic Youth and the Everly Brothers, who landed in the second through fifth positions respectively, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ranked No. 13.

Initially, the group was a trio formed in 1969 by members of The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and The Hollies. It was only David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash who came together to create one of the most influential supergroups.

Since the members were already established musicians, the band sparked immense anticipation, helping make its self-titled album a massive commercial success.

Released in 1969 by Atlantic Records, Crosby, Stills & Nash featured the hit singles "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" and "Marrakesh Express," which both charted on the Billboard Hot 100, with the first peaking at No. 21 and the latter at No. 28.

In the same year, just months after releasing the album, Neil Young joined the group after Atlantic Records and the band's management negotiated his entry, forming Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

The quartet played its live debut at Chicago's Auditorium Theatre on Aug. 16, 1969, followed by a legendary second performance at the Woodstock Festival two days later.

Although Grateful Dead members later described their own Woodstock performance as one of the band's "worst sets ever," the festival became a defining moment for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young because it was only the second time the quartet had performed together.

"This is the second time we've ever played in front of people, man. We're scared sh–less," Stills told the crowd at the time.

In 1970, they released their first album with Young as a member.

Titled Déjà Vu, the album featured the hit songs "Teach Your Children," which peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Our House," which reached No. 30 on the chart.

After releasing two more albums, American Dream and Looking Forward in 1988 and 1999, respectively, the quartet's final run effectively ended in 2016.

Although the band broke up and reunited several times after its 1969 debut, it ultimately reached the end of its 47-year journey.

Unfortunately, the band's legacy was overshadowed by a bitter final breakup.

Nash blamed his departure on David Crosby, saying that his longtime bandmate's volatile behavior and treatment of those around him made it impossible to continue.

"Right now, I don't want anything to do with Crosby at all. It's just that simple," he mentioned in a statement as cited by Ultimate Classic Rock. "In my world there will never, ever be a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young record and there will never be another Crosby, Stills & Nash record or show." He declined to say specifically what Crosby had done, simply saying that, "I was letting Crosby be who he is. I let people play their hand in front of me, and I let him do it and then I make a decision."

Another long-running feud developed between Crosby and Young, leading to a permanent, bitter estrangement that prompted the rhythm guitarist to call his bandmate selfish.

"He only thinks about Neil, period," Crosby said, per People, adding, "That's the only person he'll consider. Ever!"

The estrangement lasted until Crosby's death in 2023. Despite never fully reconciling, Young offered a respectful tribute to his former bandmate.

"David is gone, but his music lives on... The soul of CSNY, David's voice and energy were at the heart of our band,” he said, as mentioned by UCR, honoring Crosby's legacy.

Only Murders in the Building costars Meryl Streep and Martin Short turned a low-key London theater night into a once-in-a-lifetime surprise for a group of talented artists.

The rumored couple attended a performance of the play 1536 in London’s West End, then made their way backstage afterward to congratulate the cast in person. Actress Tanya Reynolds documented the special visit in a series of Instagram photos, sharing the details of the surprise appearance in her caption. "The Queen and King came to see us last night," Reynolds wrote.

The outing comes as Short leans on Streep following the loss of his daughter, Katherine, who died at 42 on February 23.

"It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short," a spokesperson for Short said in a statement to People on February 24. "The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world."

A source close to the pair told Page Six in May that their connection has only grown stronger through it. "They just work so well together," the insider said. "It's like each one of them is exactly what the other person needs at this stage in life. It all feels incredibly effortless between them."

Both Streep and Short are 76, and the insider described a bond that's rare to find. "Everybody should be so lucky to find somebody who fits into their life the way they do each other's," the source explained. "They make each other laugh, they support each other and there's just a calmness to their relationship. It never feels forced."

Streep and Short had been together for well over a year by the time their romance became public knowledge, and the pair still keep most of it private. Page Six reported in March this year that this connection caught them both off guard. "Meryl couldn't help but fall for Martin," the source said. "He is a gentleman, he keeps her laughing and is an all-around positive person. She loves being around him."

Neither of them has confirmed the relationship, but their latest outing makes it easy to believe it's never too late to find love or genuine friendship in life.

Rock icon Jon Bon Jovi and his band Bon Jovi made their highly awaited return to the stage on Tuesday, July 7, but it didn’t come without a minor mishap. 

During the finale of the rocker's setlist, at Madison Square Garden in New York, he nearly took a tumble after what appeared to be him stubbing his toe on a staircase leading up to the stage platform, where the rest of his band were playing. 

The moment captured in a fan video and posted to Instagram shows Bon Jovi dressed casually in a pair of skinny jeans and a long-sleeved shirt and belting out the words to the encore of his setlist, his 1988 smash, “Bad Medicine.” The track peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and belongs on the glam metal band’s New Jersey album.

At first, he appears to walk down the stairs to get closer to the audience during the chorus of the song. Energizing the crowd with his enthusiasm, Bon Jovi waves one hand back and forth and incorporates a few jumps and shimmies into his performance before heading back toward the stairs. 

That’s when the singer, 64, loses his footing, nearly taking a nose-dive. Luckily, though, he proved his prowess and caught himself just in time to shake-off the near-mishap and continued to make up a few off-the-cuff dance moves before finishing off the beloved tune. 

“Just a little stumble then straight back into it,” the caption reads over the video. “Like a true rock star.” 

“The consummate pro!👏👏👏” One person commented below the post, while another follower wrote, “Awesome to see him back where he belongs❤️.” 

“My heart dropped when I saw that Tuesday. 😮” A third person captioned, sharing their concern. 

Bon Jovi’s Madison Square Garden concert as part of the band’s Forever Tour marked their first large-scale performance since 2022 and the first of nine sold-out shows. The band’s return to the stage also serves as Bon Jovi’s comeback performance since undergoing vocal cord surgery.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Bon Jovi’s 21-song setlist included several fan-favorites, including "Who Says You Can't Go Home,” "You Give Love a Bad Name," "It's My Life," and "Livin' on a Prayer," as well as newer songs like 2020's "Beautiful Drug.”

Luke Wilson is a proud father.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new comedy, The Hawk, on Thursday, July 9, Wilson, 54, opened up about becoming a first-time dad after welcoming a child with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Kendall Yates.

“It’s just what everybody says about it, but I’m just trying to do a good job,” the Legally Blonde star shared. “I’m very proud to be a dad.”

Wilson’s comments come just days after People broke the news that Yates had quietly given birth to their first child — a daughter — after several years of dating.

While it’s unclear when the baby was born or what they’ve named her, the couple and their child stepped out publicly for the first time on Tuesday, July 7, at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, for a press reception ahead of the Netflix series.

Wilson and Yates, who carried their baby girl in a carrier, did not stay for the entire event, with People reporting that the couple spent just under two hours there before leaving early. While attending the reception, the new parents introduced their newborn daughter to Wilson’s castmates and other guests, according to the outlet.

The couple has been dating for several years and has largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Prior to stepping out with their baby, their most recent public sighting came in April, when The Anchorman alum and Yates, who is 30 years Wilson's junior, were photographed walking together in Los Angeles.

Though Wilson has had plenty of experience being an uncle to his brothers Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson's children, becoming a father was something he said he didn’t seriously consider until entering his 50s.

During a chat with Hoda & Jenna while promoting the Western Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 back in June 2024, Wilson opened up about what he wanted this next decade to look like, and touched on the possibility of welcoming a child of his own one day.

“I definitely, you know, want to start a family, and both my brothers have great kids, and I so enjoy being around them,” Wilson said at the time.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce finally tied the knot last weekend at Madison Square Garden. While Swifties still wait for pictures from the secretive ceremony, Deuxmoi spotted the newlyweds together at the wedding of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Laura Kruk.

Smith-Schuester is a wide receiver for the New York Giants, but previously played alongside Kelce for three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Celebrating his friend’s special day, Kelce and Swift were glammed up and holding hands at the wedding.

Harper’s Bazaar reported that Swift’s dress was a long floral brocade gown made by Markarian, which they said “felt appropriately romantic for her newlywed era.” The dress featured floral motifs with pinks and magenta tones. It also had gold detailing and a strapless corset bodice.

Photos released by Deuxmoi show Kelce and Swift talking with other wedding guests and holding hands as they walked through the venue.

While some Swifties were excited to see the photos, others said that the drone images were “exactly why they got married at MSG and not outside somewhere.”

“The paparazzi are invasive and shameless,” one user reflected in a comment on Deuxmoi’s post. “So many people hating on them for how they planned their day, but I think it was brilliant. They were in their own bubble and save from the prying lenses and crazy fans.”

Paparazzi aside, some fans were happy to see that the account spotted Swift living it up as a newlywed.

“There’s something super romantic about going to a wedding during your honeymoon days,” one fan said. “It’s like you get to relive it from the outside in.”

“Honestly best she’s ever looked,” another commented.

So, to help make the antiquing process more enjoyable, Parade spoke with four interior designers about what they're looking for in flea markets this July: Daniela Alilovic, the founder of online interior design platform Spaces by Dee; Nitya Seth, the Design Head of India-based firm Nityanamya; Kanika B. Khurana, the Principal of California-based firm Kanika Design; and Swati Goorha, the Founder and CEO of Swati Goorha Designs, which serves New York and New Jersey.

Although these four interior designers come from different corners of the world, they have something in common: they're all hoping to find vintage artwork at flea markets this summer. As they explained to Parade, whether you score an antique oil painting or a simple retro sketch, you're buying something unique that no one else will have.

"Newer art pieces tend not to have the same charm and history behind them, so I prefer to hunt in the flea market," Alilovic explains to Parade.

Alilovic, Seth, Goorha and Khurana will all be looking for artwork at flea markets this summer.

"I love the idea of finding older art pieces," says Alilovic, who's hoping to find artwork in vintage ornate gold frames. "I can either utilize only the frames, or I can keep the existing art pieces."

Seth is searching for abstract oil paintings from the 1960s and 1970s, explaining that "they add one-of-a-kind color to a room without the high prices of big galleries."

Goorha will be on the lookout for framed artwork, such as paintings, sketches and prints, especially ones in unique frames.

"Flea markets allow you to purchase art that is unique or has some type of personality as opposed to the generic and overproduced artwork found in stores," Goorha tells Parade.

And finally, Khurana will be looking for antique oil paintings, which she likes to incorporate into contemporary spaces. "I prefer to blend vintage artworks into modern home spaces to create a warm, unique spatial atmosphere that is not rigid or stereotypical," she says.

2. Handmade pottery and ceramics

"Handmade pottery is something you should always be on the lookout for," according to Goorha.

"It brings in some great texture and personality to an area without making it look too over-the-top with decoration," she adds. "Some of my favorite things about handmade pottery are earthy glazes, unique shapes, and items which will allow me to hang a branch, add some fresh flowers or just let them sit alone on a shelf."

3. A statement blanket

With fall already around the corner, Alilovic has her eyes peeled for a vintage wool blanket for her couch.

"I am on the hunt for a statement wool blanket," she says. "I want something that has an older style pattern, as if it comes from Grandma's closet. Something is comforting and cozy about vintage blankets, and I want to bring that feel into my living room."

4. Burled wood furniture

Seth believes July is the ideal time of year for for finding vintage Italian and French burled wood furniture. Burled wood, aka burl wood, has a natural "rich, wavy wood pattern" and is typically very expensive — but at a flea market, you might be able to score a good dea.

"These rare pieces add warmth and high-end texture to minimalist spaces" and can "serve as bold focal points in modern rooms," she explains.

5. Murano glass chandeliers

"Mid-century Italian glass fixtures are a major July focus," according to Seth, who's particularly a fan of Murano glass chandeliers in fun colors.

"These colorful pieces bring artistic drama and soft light to formal entryways," she says.

6. Brass decor

Vintage brass should definitely be on your wishlist at flea markets this summer.

"Designers love scooping up tarnished trays, bowls, and candleholders," says Seth. "This metal adds a warm, metallic shine that makes rooms feel richer and more inviting."

Goorha says that her favorite antique brass item to hunt for is candlesticks.

"The brass decorative items can be easily carried to an area that is lacking in warmth and immediately bring a warm element into that space," Goorha explains. "Decorative candlesticks, trays, bookends, or small sculptural objects are all good candidates for placing on a shelf, mantle, or coffee table."

Khurana calls brass candlesticks a "timeless" furnishing item, whether it's polished or has a natural oxidized patina. "They can adorn dining tables, fireplace mantels, and bookshelves, and complement both traditional and contemporary home decor. I never pass up pieces of this type," she says.

7. Mirrors

According to Goorha, vintage mirrors can "immediately add character and dimensionality to a space."

Specifically, she looks for vintage mirrors made with soft, aged glass, as these "can make an entryway, powder room, or console table seem much more thoughtful and curated than a new one."

"Vintage baskets are the most versatile accessories for home spaces," according to Khurana. "They can store miscellaneous items such as throw blankets and magazines, while also serving as wall decorations to add natural texture to a space."

Khurana is currently searching for small pieces of furniture made with solid wood, such as side tables, stools and benches.

"This type of furniture is sturdily built, easy to refinish, requires very little maintenance, and can add warmth and unique recognizability to home spaces," she explains.

Goorha has also been looking for some small wooden stools, as they are extremely flexible.

"They may be used next to a chair, in front of a tub, below a console table, or as an additional plant base," she says. "And just like most things that develop a bit of a patina (small imperfections), they seem to have been around a while and provide a comfortable 'homey' atmosphere."

How to Find Amazing Antiques at Flea Markets

So you have your list of what you'd ideally like to find at a flea market... but how can you actually make sure you score these items?! Here are a few interior designer-approved tips.

1. Get there early

"Professional dealers set up and sell the best treasures before normal buyers wake up," explains Seth. "Getting there early ensures you get first pick of rare, high-value items."

"Getting there earlier than others will give you a chance at getting some of the best furniture, artwork, and mirrors," adds Goorha.

2. Take your time

Alilovic recommends going slowly, especially when looking for artwork.

"At times, there are many art pieces stacked, and people do not take the time to look through the frames," she says. "You will miss out on some hidden gems at the flea market if you don't take the time to look!"

"With enough patience, visitors can find unexpected high-quality items," adds Khurana.

3. Shop for something timeless, not trendy

"I never use whether an item is currently popular as a judgment criterion," says Khurana. "I take whether I will still like that item five to 10 years from now as my core standard, and I only choose pieces with excellent proportions, natural materials, and classic craftsmanship."

4. Don't judge the finish

Both interior designers note that a damaged finish — such as one with scratches and fading — can easily be repaired, and shouldn't prevent you from investing in a beautiful antique.

"Don't let perfection in finish, material, or color stop you from buying something with great potential," says Goorha. "What matters most are fit, shape, proportion, and quality of materials."

Khurana agrees, adding that "solid craftsmanship is the primary standard for assessment," not an item's current appearance.

5. Cultivate relationships with sellers

Befriending sellers and dealers at your local flea market could be what helps you score your dream antique.

"Talk directly with regular sellers and tell them exactly what you need," advises Seth. "They will often call you first when they find special items that match your style."

Sharna Burgess is setting the record straight after John Stamos' recent comments about Dancing With the Stars.

Stamos, 62, appeared on season 27 winner Bobby Bones' The Bobbycast podcast, where he shared his reasoning for declining to appear on the ABC dance competition, despite being asked to join "every single season."

"I said, 'Don't ever ask me again. I'm never gonna do that show,'" the Full House alum told Bones, 46, during the July 7 episode.

"What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools. They're breaking their feet, calluses," he continued. "I don't want that."

Days after the interview, Burgess, 41, who was partnered with Bones when he won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2018, took to her Instagram Stories in a since-deleted video, where she explained why Stamos' comments bothered her.

"Why do I care because I’m not on the show? Because I was on the show for 15 years," Burgess began in a since-deleted video shared on her Instagram Story, according to EntertainmentNow. "Because the man that you’re speaking to is the man that I won with, who was the underdog, who laid it all out on the floor every time on what he did not start off being good at."

"That is the last thing Dancing With the Stars is about," she added.

Bones faced backlash over his victory, with both Dancing With the Stars co-host Julianne Hough and former host Tom Bergeron publicly saying they did not think the radio DJ deserved to win. The backlash became so severe, in fact, that Bones voluntarily returned his prize to producers.

Stamos jokingly referenced that same sentiment when speaking to Bones about his win and the controversy that followed.

"You shouldn't have won," Stamos quipped, arguing that his Fuller House costar Juan Pablo Di Pace, who competed during the same season as Bones, "got 10s all the way across the board, and you came in and somehow won."

Joking that the competition was "rigged, Stamos added, "I was gonna call ABC!"

However, Bones, who reconciled with Bergeron, 71, earlier this year after receiving an apology, now takes the criticism in stride, jokingly telling Stamos, "I'm the jackass!"

"I never had a plan to do it, but ABC, because I was going on my fourth season with Idol, said you needed to do that show as promotion," he continued, explaining that he had no dance experience before joining the series. "No one that has never danced has won, but I just kept blasting and I won."

And that's precisely why Bones believes Stamos would make the perfect Dancing With the Stars contestant.

"You would love it," Bones maintained. "You would learn so much about yourself."

Johnny Galecki is trading family time for stage time again. The Big Bang Theory star is returning to acting after a seven-year break and he's doing it in style. According to a Variety exclusive, Galecki is set to portray legendary playwright Tennessee Williams in the Chicago stage production of Kowalski, marking his first professional acting role since stepping back from the spotlight in 2019.

"I've been fortunate enough to spend more time living than performing," Galecki said on his Instagram. "It turns out those aren't separate pursuits for me." He added that the return feels especially meaningful given the location (*Chicago) is where he first started his career. "Honored to return to the stage and in my city by the lake... where I first began working, as one of my literary heroes, Tennessee Williams", he said.

The play, written by Gregg Ostrin for Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company and directed by Colin Hanlon, will run from Sept. 19 to Oct. 25. Set in 1947 Provincetown, the story imagines the charged first encounter between Williams and a young Marlon Brando. A meeting that would go on to shape "A Streetcar Named Desire," the 1951 film that earned Brando his first Oscar nomination and cemented his reputation for intense method acting.

Galecki elaborated on how the project came together, crediting a combination of timing, talent, and personal readiness. "The planets aligned. Gregg's writing, Colin's vision, and the feeling that after seven years of quietly observing life, I finally had something new to bring back to the work," he explained, referring to the play's writer, Gregg Ostrin, and director, Colin Hanlon. "Add to that the privilege of portraying one of my artistic heroes, and it became impossible to say no."

Galecki's return to the stage isn't entirely new territory - he previously appeared in the Tony-nominated Broadway play The Little Dog Laughed. Long before his Emmy-nominated run as Leonard Hofstadter on The Big Bang Theory, Galecki spent years on Roseanne from 1992 to 2018, along with credits including American Dreamer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Vanilla Sky, Hancock, Entourage, In Time, and Rings, as well as voice work on American Dad, Family Guy, and A Dog's Journey.

Galecki's break from acting followed the end of his run on The Big Bang Theory in 2019 -*the same year he welcomed his first child. Now, with his family firmly established, Galecki is stepping back into the spotlight - proving that sometimes the best second acts come from taking the time to live first.

Thriller films have a tendency to fill theaters due to their enthralling plots. While not every thriller is considered a movie masterpiece, some have received accolades from both critics and audiences alike. For instance, Collider recently released a list of "the 15 most universally loved thriller movies, ranked."

The list, published on July 10, featured popular thrillers like 1995's Se7en, The Silence of the Lambs from 1991, Memento, released in 2000, and Rear Window from 1954. Collider put late director David Lynch's 2001 film Mulholland Drive, starring Naomi Watts as actress Betty Elms, at the top of the ranking. The publication suggested that the film has remained so beloved due to its use of surrealism that causes its disturbing storyline to be difficult to unfold, making it an almost interactive mystery for the audience.

Mulholland Drive holds a score of 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

David Lynch Revealed that 'Mulholland Drive' Was Originally Going to Be a Television Series

In an interview for Criterion Collection Special Features of Mulholland Drive, alongside Watts, Lynch revealed that the film was supposed to be "a possible spinoff" of his popular ABC television series, Twin Peaks. However, an ABC executive wasn't impressed with the proposed show's pilot, killing the project.

Lynch, who died in 2025 at the age of 78, clarified he viewed the situation as "a gigantic blessing," as he eventually realized Mulholland Drive could be made into a feature film. Lynch also shared that his friend, French filmmaker Pierre Edelman, helped him fund the movie. In addition, Lynch said by the time the film was greenlit, he "had zero ideas" about the overall storyline. According to the director, ideas for the film finally came to him after a meditation session.

"This is a true story, that night the night of the green light, with no ideas, I sat down and did my meditating. And this particular meditation, I dive down in there and, as I say, like a string of pearls one idea after another came, and I knew exactly what to do," said Lynch during the interview.

Antoinette Bower, an actress known for numerous roles, including appearing in The Twilight Zone and Star Trek, has died at the age of 93.

Her friend, Carlotta Glackin, told the Hollywood Reporter that Bower died in an Eagle Rock senior retirement home in Los Angeles on April 30.

She also starred in the 1972 film Superbeast, along with her role in Prom Night, where she played the wife of Leslie Nielsen and the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis. She also appeared in The Evil That Men Do (1984).

In an episode of TheTwilight Zone titled  “Probe 7, Over and Out,” which premiered in November 1963, she played Eve Norda, a woman stranded on a planet. Then, in Star Trek, she appeared in the season 2 episode “Catspaw,” which premiered in October 1967.

Other television shows she had roles in include Adventures in Paradise, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Hong Kong, Wagon Train, Thriller, Hawaiian Eye, and Perry Mason. She also appeared on on Combat!, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Burke’s Law, The Wild Wild West, I Spy, The Fugitive, The Invaders, The Big Valley, Bonanza, Mannix, Hawaii Five-O, Get Smart, Hogan’s Heroes, Mission: Impossible, The F.B.I., Columbo, Kojak and Murder, She Wrote and The Thorn Birds.

For three seasons, Bower had a recurring role on the TV drama Neon Rider. She then left acting.

Following the news, many paid tribute to the actress.

"Just found out that one of my favorite actresses passed away earlier this year at 93 #RIP Antoinette Bower," one person wrote.

"Rest in peace Antoinette Bower. Was great in Columbo," another person commented.

Ella Langley is the queen of the crossover hit right now. One of country music’s biggest superstars on the charts, the singer-songwriter has been dominating with her upbeat heartbreak ballad, “Choosin’ Texas,” which spent 11 weeks at the top of iTunes and has enjoyed an even longer reign on other Billboard tallies.

This week, however, Langley was unexpectedly dethroned by an ’80s icon.

Bonnie Tyler, the Grammy-nominated powerhouse behind some of rock’s most unforgettable anthems, died earlier this week at the age of 75, and fans immediately turned to her timeless catalog.

According to Forbes, Tyler became the “queen of iTunes in America” as listeners rushed to revisit the songs that defined her legendary career.

“Whenever such a talent departs this world,” the outlet writes, “fans respond by turning to streaming sites and websites like iTunes to stream and buy the biggest and most memorable tunes and albums from the artist, and currently, Tyler is the queen of iTunes in America.”

The response was immediate. Eight of Tyler’s greatest hits appeared on the iTunes Top Songs chart, with the singer sweeping the top three spots: “Total Eclipse of the Heart” landed at No. 1, followed by “Holding Out for a Hero” at No. 2 and “It’s a Heartache” at No. 3.

“Her current performance is especially notable,” Forbes adds, “considering the fact that it is Friday (July 10), the beginning of a new tracking week within the global music industry. Fridays are when the vast majority of musicians drop new releases, as it gives their work a full seven days in which to sell as well as possible and perhaps become charting wins.”

Elsewhere in the Top 40, a second edition of “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” and "Straight From the Heart” make appearances, while lower on the chart sit “If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man).” “Together,” a 2025 collaboration with electronic dance producer David Guetta and Hypaton, makes its debut at No. 174.

Tyler’s march up the chart pushes Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” to No. 4. Meanwhile, debuts from Anthrax and Shania Twain begin their tenure in the Top 10, per Forbes.

According to a statement on Tyler’s website, the beloved Welsh singer, born Gaynor Hopkins, died “unexpectedly” on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at a hospital in Portugal.

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in a hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” the statement read. “We will issue a further statement shortly, but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”

Nearly three decades after Princess Diana's death at 36, her memory remains a meaningful part of daily life for Prince Harry and his family.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, attended Scotty's Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, England, on Saturday, July 11, where he shared how he, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, honor his late mother on both her birthday and the anniversary of her death.

During a Q&A session at the 200-plus-person event, which marked Prince Harry's final public appearance of his U.K. visit, he was asked by a teenager if he does anything special to commemorate the anniversary of his mother's death on August 31 or her birthday on July 1. Harry's response was a "sweet" one.

"Yes, we do lemon drizzle cake," Harry told the 16-year-old, per People. The teen also experienced the loss of a parent, after his father, Reverend John Hill, a member of the Royal Navy, died in 2010.

Although Prince Harry stepped back from his royal duties after relocating to California with Markle, 44, in 2020, the Duke of Sussex continues his charitable work as a Global Ambassador for Scotty's Little Soldiers, a British nonprofit that supports bereaved military children and young people.

Prince Harry said that baking a lemon drizzle cake in honor of his late mother each year is a meaningful tradition for his family. Princess Diana died in 1997 after suffering injuries in a car crash in Paris when Harry was just 12 years old.

"I think traditions are really, really important," he explained, adding, "Especially when they're sweet."

Harry's comments come amid a U.K. reunion for him and his family, with Markle and their two children making their first visit in four years to see their grandfather, King Charles, and Queen Camilla this week.
