In 1977, the Bee Gees were riding high on the success of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The legendary pop-rock trio, comprised of brothers Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb, closed out the year with the No. 1 song in the country.

The song,  “How Deep Is Your Love,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 on December 24, 1977, and remained there for three weeks. “How Deep Is Your Love” also won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group in 1978.

Nearly 50 years later, Billboard ranked "How Deep Is Your Love” one of the top 50 love songs of all time, on a list that included the group’s little brother Andy’s “Love is Thicker Than Water.”

The song was one of several Bee Gees hits on the soundtrack for the John Travolta disco movie Saturday Night Fever, but it was almost a fluke hit for the musical brothers.

Billboard noted that the Gibb brothers had not even seen the script for the movie when they wrote the soundtrack song, instead assuming there’d be a love scene in the film. In addition, the outlet revealed, “They intended the song for Yvonne Elliman, but their manager Robert Stigwood insisted they record it themselves.

Elliman’s husband, Bill Oakes, was the president of Stigwood’s RSO Records, but Stigwood felt “How Deep Is Your Love” would be better suited for the male trio’s voices.

In the book The Ultimate Biography of the Bee Gees, Stigwood is quoted as telling the group, "You've got to do this song yourself, you should not give it to anybody.”

They didn’t, and the rest is history. In a 2001 interview with Billboard, Barry Gibb even named “How Deep Is Your Love” as his favorite Bee Gees song.

The Bee Gees almost skipped ‘Saturday Night Fever’ altogether

The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack remains one of the biggest movie soundtracks of all time, but the Bee Gees almost didn’t do the music at all.

According to Stereogum, the Bee Gees weren't originally supposed to be involved with the movie, but Stigwood convinced them to write songs for the film, which they did over a weekend while in France. After Stigwood insisted they record “How Deep Is Your Love,” the Bee Gees tweaked the arrangement.

“A lot of the textures you hear in the song were added on later,” Barry Gibb once said, per American Songwriter. “We didn’t change any lyrics, mind you, but the way we recorded it was a little different than the way we wrote in the terms of construction. A little different for the better, I think; the title ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ we thought was perfect because of all the connotations involved in that sentence, and that was simply it.”

Yvonne Elliman recorded another Bee Gees-penned song

Elliman ultimately recorded another No. 1 hit song that the Bee Gees wrote for the movie, "If I Can’t Have You.”

In a 2011 documentary, Elliman looked back on her Saturday Night Fever hit. “I really loved ‘If I Can’t Have You,’ but I liked it that the song wasn’t typically disco as I wasn’t a huge disco fan,” she admitted, per UDiscovermusic. “The disco thing was fun, but it was glittery, and I wasn’t into glitter. I was really into classic rock, my jeans, and my guitar.”

Turning 52 today, she reminds fans why her charm and talent made her a beloved TV icon.

Although the science-fiction comedy My Stepmother Is an Alien was often credited as her early breakout role, it was the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer that truly cemented her status as a rising star, thanks to her portrayal of Willow Rosenberg.

Initially, she wasn’t part of the original cast lineup. The role of Willow was first played by Riff Regan in an unaired pilot before Hannigan ultimately took over the role, as mentioned by ScreenRant.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer also featured Willow’s character not just as Buffy’s loyal friend, but also highlighted her romance with Tara Maclay, played by Amber Benson. At the time, it was one of the first long-term lesbian couples on American television.

Expressing deep gratitude for the storyline, she shared how the show’s portrayal of a lesbian relationship has positively impacted fans over the years.

“To this day, there are so many people that have come up to me and told me their story,” she told BuzzFeed, adding, “I can't even describe what a nice feeling that is and to know that something I was a part of helped somebody get through a challenging time and have hope. The fact that it made them feel less alone or something, I'm just so happy that I can be a part of that.”

Following her long run on the series, Hannigan once again starred in a beloved TV show, How I Met Your Mother, where she played Lily Aldrin, a kindergarten teacher and amateur painter, and the love interest of budding lawyer Marshall Eriksen, portrayed by Jason Segel.

The actress considered working on the sitcom as something dear to her because of the cast and the crew behind it.

“It was such a special group on How I Met Your Mother,” she mentioned to BuzzFeed, “It was so much fun to go and get to play with those guys every day. We had the most incredible crew, and it was a dream job, honestly.”

In How I Met Your Mother, Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders starred alongside Hannigan and Segel as part of the main cast.

Interestingly, her two iconic roles landed her notable recognitions, including Best Supporting Actress on Television at the Saturn Awards and Best Choice TV Sidekick at the 2002 Teen Choice Awards for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while she took home Favorite TV Comedy Actress at the 2010 People's Choice Awards for her role in How I Met Your Mother.

Since The Pittpremiered in January 2025, some viewers have expressed their desire for Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) and Dr. Melissa "Mel" King (Taylor Dearden) to have a romantic relationship.

Married at First SightU.K. and Australia host and dating coach Mel Schilling, who just revealed her terminal cancer diagnosis two weeks ago, is dead at 54.

The beloved reality star's passing was announced on Instagram on Tuesday by her husband, Gareth Brisbane, who shared that she "passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love."

"To most of you, she was Mel Schilling - matriarch of MAFS and queen of reality TV. To Maddie and me, she was our wee Melsie: an incredible mum, role model, and soulmate," Brisbane wrote in a heartbreaking post.

“In her final moments, when I thought cancer had taken away her ability to speak, she ushered me closer and whispered a message for Maddie and me that will sustain me for the rest of my life,” wrote Brisbane. “It took all of her remaining strength … Even then, her only thought was for Maddie and me.”

When Did Schilling Share Her Terminal Diagnosis?

Two weeks ago, Schilling took to Instagram to share that the colon cancer she had been diagnosed with in December of 2023 was now terminal.

"Unfortunately, in late February 2024 during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered in my lungs. The cancer had metastasised and my world changed again in an instant. Over the past two years, while filming MAFS, I underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told I was eligible for a groundbreaking clinical trial specific to my gene type, due to start in March 2026. Once again, my optimism soared that I might beat this thing," she shared.

However, she started to suffer from blinding headaches and numbness down her right side over Christmas. She soon learned her cancer had spread to the left side of her brain, and radiotherapy wasn't successful.

"My oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do," Schilling shared.

The star concluded by expressing her gratitude and encouraging others to get checked out if they had any health concerns.

Kelce grew up playing multiple sports, including football, baseball and basketball. When it was time to go to college, he followed his equally athletic brother—now-retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce—to play football at the University of Cincinnati.

"Being two years behind him, I've naturally always kind of followed his footsteps," he said in an interview with NFL Films.

In 2009, his freshman year, Kelce’s college football career nearly came to an end when he failed a drug test. His scholarship was revoked and he was kicked off the team. But his brother had his back, moving Kelce in with him and speaking to the head coach about allowing him back on the team.

In April 2024, he signed a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs that's helped boost his net worth. According to Bleacher Report (citing reporting from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero), Kelce will make $34.3 million over the two-year term.

Still, although no one would deny Kelce is well paid, his value as a tight end can’t compete with that of a successful quarterback. After a lot of speculation that he may retire following the Chiefs' relatively abysmal loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl, in March 2026, Kelce signed a $57.735 million contract to be with the Kansas City Chiefs for three more years.

"I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty short and brief,” Kelce said of his retirement consideration in an interview on the Pat McAfee Show. “The Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it. You always need to take a step back on it. Breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is, and things like that. But man I'm still in love with this game, I'm still in love with going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out and playing the game."

Kelce has a guaranteed $12.2 million for the 2026 NFL season, but the rest of that huge sum may never see his bank account. He may also get an additional $3 million in performance incentives if the Chiefs have a successful run to the 2027 Super Bowl.

“The Chiefs’ new contract with TE Travis Kelce is structured as a 1-year, $12M deal with another $3M in incentives, with additional years included for cap purposes,” NFL expert Ari Meirov explained on X. “If Kelce wants to continue playing after this season, the deal will be renegotiated next year. As currently structured, it’s set up for this to be his final season, after which he would retire, allowing the cap hits to be spread out over those added years.”

“For context and clarity, Travis Kelce’s contract with the Chiefs includes a trigger date next June that exists strictly for cap purposes,” Meirov added. “He does not actually have another two years and $40M+ coming to him after this season.”

It’s no secret that NFL playmakers can generate big bucks through endorsements. Kelce is no exception. He stands to make around $5 million per year in off-the-field earnings, according to a 2023 article by Business Insider.

“I wouldn't be surprised if he doubles that number,” sports marketing analyst Bob Dorfman told Insider. "Kelce was already one of football's most successful endorsers before his hot romance, but now he's sizzling hot—swiftly grabbing the attention and buying power of a whole new fan base and demographic."

Dorfman is, of course, referring to Kelce’s romance with pop superstar Taylor Swift. In just 24 hours after the Sept. 24, 2023 Chiefs versus Bears game—at which Swift made an appearance—Kelce’s merchandise sales went up 400%.

Kelce has also experienced a massive spike in social media followers and podcast listeners (he co-hosts a show with his brother called New Heights). While this doesn’t translate directly to cash, it does pave the way to more lucrative advertising deals.

Travis Kelce’s annual salary was around $17 million, according to the details of the two-year extension he signed with the Chiefs in 2024. He will receive $34.3 million for the contract, or just over $17 million per year.

One passenger recently revealed that the pilots’ final act was truly heroic.

What Happened in the Collision?

It was a perfect storm of events that led to the fatal collision. On the ground at LaGuardia, passengers aboard a United Airlines flight complained of feeling ill from a mysterious odor. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey dispatched a rescue truck to assist.

At the same time, in the air, Air Canada pilots were preparing their passengers for an emergency exit. They instructed people to leave their luggage and evacuate as quickly and safely as possible. The plane ultimately made a rough landing, and passengers believed they were in the clear—but that’s when the nightmare was just beginning.

“It was like a grinding sound. Then, a couple seconds after that, you just felt the collision,” passenger Rebecca Liquori, a registered nurse sitting in the emergency exit row, told NBC News. “It was like the loudest boom I’ve ever heard.”

What caused the collision is still unclear. Early reports indicate there may have been a series of contributing factors, including possible radio failures, runway miscommunication, and human error.

Air traffic control audio recordings revealed a controller saying, “Truck 1, stop,” after previously instructing it to cross the runway. Post-collision, audio captured a controller saying: “I messed up.”

“We didn’t know what was going on—if the plane was going to combust,” Liquori told the outlet. “Everybody was scared. Everybody thought they were going to die.”

The Life-Saving Efforts That Saved the 72 Passengers Aboard

Liquori knew she had to act quickly to get herself and her fellow passengers to safety; she had no idea if the plane might catch fire.

While she exited the aircraft in what she estimates was just three to four minutes, she emphasized that it was the unnamed pilots who made the biggest difference. She said she “felt them brake” as they hit the ground, slowing the aircraft before impact with the truck and ultimately absorbing the brunt of the collision.

“I’m just so appreciative that they were able to save us, but I’m just so sad that they weren’t able to make it home to their families,” she said. “I wouldn’t be here had it not been for the pilot acting quickly.”

Another passenger identified only as Joseph, who was traveling with his fiancée, also credited the pilots for their survival.

“I fully believe that these two pilots, who unfortunately lost their lives, did everything in their power to stop the plane and slow it down at the very last minute,” he said. “They deserve all the credit for being heroes that day.”

The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision is still ongoing.

Heart conditions are pretty serious on their own—there’s no doubt about that. You may experience scary symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, swelling and palpitations, for example (which are always signs to go to your nearest emergency room). Plus, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States.

Unfortunately, in addition to all of that, a certain heart condition can increase your risk of a stroke. A stroke presents with symptoms such as weakness, headaches, mental and cognitive changes, chest pain and even hiccups. Plus, it’s a leading cause of death and long-term disability. 

The heart condition we’re talking about is atrial fibrillation, often referred to as “AFib.” AFib can cause a person to experience the heart symptoms mentioned above. It’s the most common heart condition, affecting 10.5 million adults (which is a whopping three times as many as previously thought).

How AFib Can Contribute To Stroke Risk

AFib is an irregular heart rhythm, and a stroke is when the brain doesn’t get enough blood flow—and the former causes the latter? Fairly often, actually. “AFib is a common cause of strokes and tends to cause severe strokes,” says Dr. Jonathan Sussman, MD, an electrophysiologist at Atlantic Health. In fact, AFib increases stroke risk fivefold, and about 22 percent of strokes are related to AFib. That’s far from nothing.

The explanation behind it all comes down to blood flow. “During AFib, blood flow becomes sluggish in the atria, or upper chambers of the heart,” explains Dr. Kevin Kwaku, MD, PhD, director of clinical electrophysiology at Dartmouth Health’s Heart and Vascular Center and president-elect of the Association of Black Cardiologists. “When blood flow slows, it tends to clot.” 

“These clots can travel through the circulation, obstruct blood flow to the brain and cause strokes,” Dr. Sussman adds.

Even if you feel relatively “fine,” you might not be in the clear, by the way. Dr. Sussman warns that “Many AFib patients have no symptoms but are still at risk.” According to Dr. Kwaku, “feeling few symptoms can be even more dangerous, as it can lead to delayed diagnosis.”

Additionally, other heart conditions can increase your risk of stroke—not just AFib. Examples include coronary heart disease, heart valve defects and enlarged heart chambers. 

So, as evidenced here, heart health helps the rest of your body stay healthy, too. That gives us all more reason to practice heart-healthy habits.

How To Reduce Your Risk of a Stroke from AFib

AFib isn’t entirely preventable, with aging and family history as unmodifiable risk factors, Dr. Kwaku says. However, some lifestyle adjustments can reduce your risk and improve treatment. Dr. Sussman clarifies that they don’t affect stroke risk directly very much, but they can do a great deal to help you manage AFib. Examples include regular exercise, minimizing alcohol use and managing other health conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes and sleep apnea.

When it comes to preventing a stroke caused by AFib, Dr. Sussman recommends medication or medical devices. “Anticoagulant medications, often known as ‘blood thinners,’ decrease the likelihood of clots and strokes,” he says. “Alternatively, devices can be implanted in the part of the left atrium where clots mostly form, to block blood flow in [and] out of that area and decrease the risk of stroke.”

Dr. Kwaku says there has been “an explosion in recent years in treatment options” beyond medications, including catheter pulse field ablation and left atrial appendage occlusion. While they sound scary, they're minimally invasive, he says, and can “markedly reduce symptoms and stroke risk from AFib.”

So yes, AFib can increase your risk of stroke—but at least it’s not something you’re powerless against.

Roughly one month after the death of his co-star Carrie Anne Fleming, Supernatural actor Jim Beaver has shared an emotional tribute to the actress on Facebook.

On February 26, 2026, the 51-year-old Fleming passed away from complications arising from her battle with breast cancer. Beaver, who portrayed Fleming's on-screen husband in the hit fantasy horror series, previously lost his wife to the same disease, a tragedy he referenced in his heartfelt tribute to Fleming.

"To find a soul mate once in life and lose her is unmitigated pain. To find one twice and lose them both is something that words cannot shape," Beaver wrote.

"To love and be loved is a pearl above price, but such pearls do come more than once or twice to the lucky," the 75-year-old actor continued. "But to find oneself paired with someone who not only loves and is loved, but who seems by magic or the grace of the gods to understand you, to want what you are, to want you to be what you are, who GETS you and never feels the need to have you defend who you are, and about whom you feel the same -- how many of us can say that spark of divinity has alighted on us once, much less twice?"

Discussing his grieving process, Beaver said that Fleming's death proved a serious toll for him both mentally and emotionally, calling to mind the immediate aftermath of his wife's death.

"Cecily's young death came near to destroying me. Far fewer know that I found something akin to that again some years after Cecily's death," he wrote. "Carrie Anne Fleming was cast as my wife on Supernatural in my fifth season on the show. I fell for her hard, and I did it mere seconds after meeting her. To my joy and shock, it seems the same thing happened to her."

I’ve been traveling with just a carry-on for nearly eight years now, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to checking a suitcase again. I love the freedom of having my bag with me my entire journey, enjoy the time saved by not having to go to baggage check or claim, and I love the challenge of packing light. A lot of my experience comes from being forced to limit what I pack—between traveling the country for a year on a Broadway tour (and only using one suitcase) to living in extremely small quarters on cruise ships for five years.

After both of those experiences, one or two week trips felt like nothing. Packing more than a carry-on almost feels over-indulgent, too much and honestly, a hassle. I’m about to embark on a 7-day cruise, so I decided to bring you along on my packing journey. Let’s go!

I Only Pack 3 Pairs Of Shoes

I always strictly follow the “3 pairs of shoes” rule when going on a trip. I genuinely think that that’s all you need, and after you hear these tips, you’ll find it’s easy to do. First, the type of shoes that you bring is very important. Bring a pair that is comfortable to walk in, a pair that is appropriate to the location that you’re visiting, and a pair for evenings or dressing up. Most importantly, the shoes need to go with every single one of your outfits.

For this cruise, I chose three pairs of shoes that are all tan in color. I have a pair of comfortable sandals, which will be perfect for both walking around the ship, hanging out by the pool, and going to the beach in port. Then, I packed a pair of tan ballet flats, which I will wear on casual dinner nights. For the few “dressy” nights onboard, I packed a pair of nude heels. Now, as a wildcard, I will wear a pair of white walking sneakers when I travel to the ship. These can be used if I choose to do something more adventurous out in port.

Four Bottoms And Four Tops Are Key

For bottoms, I chose two pairs of shorts, a pair of long jeans and a long skirt. Then, I chose four different shirts that match each one of those options. The shorts will be worn during the day, and the jeans and skirt are intended for the evening. Technically, with these eight items, I actually have eight options for day outfits and 8 options for evening outfits. That in itself is more than I'll even need for the trip.

Sundresses Are Versatile

Especially for a cruise, sundresses are a must. I wear them both during the day when I’m relaxing by the pool or at the beach, and I can also dress them up by wearing them with heels at night. They also tend to be thinner in material, so it’s very easy to pack them in a compact way. These are a must-have for most cruise vacations and any other tropical trips, and technically, I didn't even need that many for this trip.

Choose Your Evening Clothes Wisely

When going on a vacation, it’s great to know how often you’ll actually be dressing up. I know that for this cruise, there are really only two nights where I am expected to dress in a more formal way. So, I packed one long dress and one pantsuit. Then, I have my long skirt (that’s already included in my bottoms) as an option for dressing up in the evening as well. By choosing exactly what you're planning to wear ahead of time, that easily stops you from overpacking.

The Final Details

It’s a cruise, so of course, you need bathing suits! I chose to pack three bathing suits for the trip. I know there are some people who prefer to have a different one for each day of the trip, but I have my three favorites, and I don’t mind re-wearing them. Then, I packed a packing cube worth of underwear and socks, and included a pair of pajamas as well.
For toiletries, I don’t need to bring shampoo, conditioner or bodywash–those are going to be available in my stateroom bathroom. I also don’t need a blow dryer, only a straightener to style my hair as well as a hairbrush.

Everything fit seamlessly into my carry-on with the use of packing cubes. I usually use compression packing cubes, but lent them to my mom for the trip, and I still had plenty of room.

Finally, I always bring a personal bag with me as well, and in there, I pack my computer, all of my chargers for my electronic devices, a book, my water bottle and my travel documents. Technically, I still had a bit of room in this carry-on, so I could probably fit most of those items in there, as well.

3 Rules for a Stress-Free Stateroom

1. Use the "Magnetic" Secret for Extra Space

Most first-time cruisers don't realize that cruise ship cabin walls are actually made of metal. Because space is so limited in a standard stateroom, I always pack a few heavy-duty magnetic hooks in my carry-on. You can stick them to the walls or the ceiling to hang your wet bathing suits, your lanyard or even your daily itinerary. On this day in 1945, Warner Bros. officially gave to the world the colorful feline creation, Sylvester the Cat, one of the most instantly recognizable members of the Looney Tunes cartoon cast.

A regular character in Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, Sylvester initially debuted in the animated short, Life with Feathers, back on March 24, 1945.

Created by influential animator Fritz Freleng (the primary artist behind other equally influential characters like Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Yosemite Sam), Sylvester was best known as the on-screen rival to several prominent Looney Tunes protagonists.

This includes his repeated confrontations with his regular counterpart Tweety, as well as Speedy Gonzalez and Hippety Hopper.

Though the character initially appeared in 1945, Sylvester wasn't formally named until 1948's Scaredy Cat, with his name coming courtesy of animation giant Chuck Jones. Originally, Warner Bros. gave him the name of Thomas, but the studio decided to alter the name to avoid confusion with Tom the Cat from MGM's Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Having appeared in 103 cartoons during the Golden Age of American Animation, Sylvester remains one of the most popular on-screen characters in Looney Tunes' history, with his number of appearances falling just behind Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck.

One of the many Looney Tunes characters voiced by the prolific vocalist Mel Blanc, Sylvester also has the distinction of having three of his cartoon shorts winning the Academy Award: the most for any Looney Tunes character. This includes 1947's Tweetie Pie, 1955's Speedy Gonzalez and 1957's Birds Anonymous.

Over the years, he's also appeared in almost every major media tie-in or subsequent Looney Tunes-inspired cartoon that's come out, as seen from his return appearances in Baby Looney Tunes, The Looney Tunes Show, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and both Space Jam movies.

One of the most common questions Murphy fields is whether she’d participate in a reboot of Bewitched.

“If they asked me to appear on the show, absolutely I would! I’d love to be included in some way, and I know fans of the original Bewitched would enjoy that fun reference to the past,” Murphy said in a recent interview with New Idea.

That may come in handy, because back in November, Deadline reported that an hourlong reimagining of the classic TV series was in development. A bit different from the original, the new series would follow Samantha and Darrin, who fall in love at first sight.

“But in order to be together, they’ll have to navigate their disapproving parents, walk a tightrope of cultural clashes, and bridge the divides between their families and worlds,” the description continued.

The Sully clan is ready to leap from theaters to home screens.

The third installment in James Cameron’s epic sci-fi franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, made its theatrical debut on December 19th last year. A few weeks later, it crossed the $1.4 billion mark, becoming the 17thhighest-grossing film of all time with the original 2009 Avatar holding the #1 spot and 2022’s The Way of Water sitting at #3.

Now, 102 days later, the film is set to be available for digital purchase and rental from March 31st onwards. And those wanting to get their hands on a physical copy won’t have to wait longer either, with the disc release hitting shelves on May 19. (via People)

The film picks up right after the event of The Way of Water, with the Sully clan still reeling from the death of their family member, Neteyam, the eldest son of Jake and Neytiri. As a new threat emerges from a rival Na’vi faction, the Mangkwan clan, whose leader Varang seeks to reshape their culture, former villain Miles Quaritch doubles down on his hunt to capture Jake.

The third instalment brought back Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, among others, in their recurring lead roles, with Oona Chaplin joining the cast as the new antagonist.

Fire and Ash is part of a five-film franchise, with installments slated to release through 2029 and beyond.

The Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special was supposed to be a nostalgia trip, but it turned into a property-line dispute when Miley Cyrus outed Alex Cooper for a "creepy" real estate play.
