Move over, Wordle, Connections, Connections Sports Edition, and Mini Crossword—there’s a new NYT word game in town! The New York Times' recent game, "Strands," is becoming increasingly popular as another daily activity fans can find on the NYT website and app.

With daily themes and "spangrams" to discover, this is the latest addictive game to cross off your to-do list before a new one pops up 24 hours later.

We'll cover exactly how to play Strands, hints for today's Spangram, and all of the answers for Strands #714 on Sunday, February 15.

How to Play Strands

According to the New York Times, here's exactly how to play Strands:

Find theme words to fill the board.

• Theme words stay highlighted in blue when found.
• Drag or tap letters to create words. If tapping, double-tap the last letter to submit.
• Theme words fill the board entirely. No theme words overlap.

Find the “spangram.”

• The spangram describes the puzzle's theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.
• The spangram highlights in yellow when found.
• An example spangram with corresponding theme words: PEAR, FRUIT, BANANA, APPLE, etc.

Need a hint?

• Find non-theme words to get hints.
• For every three non-theme words you find, you earn a hint.
• Hints show the letters of a theme word. If there is already an active hint on the board, a hint will show that word's letter order.

Released in 1988, the music video featured the iconic "anti-gravity lean,” now considered one of Jackson’s signature moves.

Michael Jackson’s Soon-to-Be-Released Biopic Michael

From music to the big screen, the King of Pop lives on with an upcoming biopic.

Michael, set to hit theaters on April 24, stars his nephew Jaafar Jackson.

According to the 29-year-old actor, he never thought that he would be playing the role of his late uncle.

“I never dreamed to be an actor or even thought of playing him, but I knew it was a calling," he said in a behind-the-scenes interview as released by Lionsgate on YouTube. "Embodying Michael, I really had to earn the role and prove to the filmmakers that I was capable of becoming Michael. Essentially, it was starting at the roots and finding the authenticity."

Director Antoine Fuqua expressed his admiration for Jaafar Jackson for his perfect portrayal of the music icon.

"Day one, all I could think of was, 'Can Jaafar really pull this off?' Man, when the music started and he hit those first few moves, I mean, this guy killed it,” he recalled, adding, “I looked at Graham and Graham looked at me, I was like, 'Who is this guy?!'”

The cast of Michael also includes Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family, Colman Domingo as the father and the Jackson 5 manager Joe Jackson, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, Juliano Valdi as young Michael and Miles Teller as renowned celebrity lawyer and co-executor of the Michael Jackson estate John Branca.

The daughter of the late, great James Garner has broken her silence on NBC's reboot plans for his iconic '70s PI series, The Rockford Files.

David Boreanaz was recently revealed to be taking on the role of James Rockford this pilot season, and Gigi Garner is shutting down any opponents by putting her full support behind the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum—and for most, Boreanaz' sweet gesture toward her

Gigi took to social media after news of his casting broke to share that the Bones star "was kind enough to share that he was offered the series & thinking about it" before he officially accepted the role. He called Gigi to see how she was feeling about the series being rebooted and gauge her reaction to him stepping into her father's shoes, and it's clear she's on board.

"If anybody can do it, HE CAN!" she wrote on X. "I'm 💯 on board! It is going to be great!"

Fans called Boreanaz a "class act" for his obvious care with the role, which swayed many who were on the fence—or even against—the reboot into more positive responses.

"Okay. Him calling you for your blessing, has changed my mind," one wrote, sharing they were "Willing to give him a chance now."

"Okay, knowing that he reached out to you about how you felt about it has just sent my opinion of the man up a LOT," another agreed. "...I'll be watching this show knowing he cared enough to reach out to you. <3."

"The first thing I thought about is how you would feel about it..it looks like that's the first thing he thought about as well. A class move," somebody else complimented.

Some stood firm, though, that "James was one of a kind," and there was no place for a reboot. As one pointed out, "Most of the original Rockford stories don't translate to a world with cellphones and the internet, so they'll have to be very creative to capture the old magic."

Gigi then shared a screenshot of a tweet from the actor sending thanks not only to NBC for the legendary role, but her and her father, as well, sharing with fans, "David actually thanked my dad, me and NBC 😉."

"DIDNT believe anyone could work," one admitted. "I was wrong. He works😊👏👏."

"He is perfect to carry the legacy," another declared.

Some remained "skeptical" that a newcomer could "ever live up to [Gigi's] dad," but, as one wise fan noted, "Obviously, it’s not going to be the same show, but it’s gonna be a re-envisioning of the show."

"David will do a fine job and do it justice," they added with certainty.

The upcoming reboot, should it be ordered to series, will follow the "newly paroled" James Rockford returning to his job as a private investigator, "using his charm and wit to solve cases around Los Angeles," according to the official logline. But, "It doesn’t take long for his quest for legitimacy to land him squarely in the crosshairs of both local police and organized crime."

The character description goes on to say Rockford is a “witty, world-weary and chronically broke private investigator whose charmingly gruff exterior masked a strong moral core.”

The original series, which produced over 100 episodes, ran from 1974 to 1980 on NBC. Boreanaz's strong track record suggests the reboot will likely do the same (as one fan quipped online, "This dude collects long-running network TV series like there’s nothing to it, so I guess an advance congrats on your multi-season run, New Rockford Files.").

Garner died at home in 2014 of natural causes. He was 86. Since then, his daughter has maintained a social media account dedicated to his memory, keeping his legacy in the limelight with throwback photos and memories.

Audrey McGraw, the youngest daughter of music legends Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, stunned fans with her beauty and talent during a recent performance in New York City.

On Feb. 14, Audrey shared a bunch of photos from her show, writing of the experience, "Night 2 at the beautiful @casaciprianinyc Thank you for having me, it was such a special run. ❤️@angelobianchi." She tagged the hotel Casa Cipriani New York, where the performance took place.

The 24-year-old singer credited photographer Alexandra Arnold for capturing the photos, while also declaring that the "badass suit" she wore was from the brand ONE OF.

While the show itself was exciting and impressive, Audrey's outfit for the performance was particularly eye-catching. She wore a lacy black bra underneath the suit, which consisted of a cropped, open jacket and high-waisted pants. She accessorized with a black fabric headband that tied in the back, highlighting her short hair, while the third snap revealed she had on a body chain as well.

Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye knows the best way to celebrate Valentine's Day is with a dip in the pool.

Frye Loves to Take a Dip in the Pool

Back in January, Frye took to social media to welcome the new year with another set of stunning bathing suit photos. Sporting a white bathing suit and black sunglasses, the brunette beauty went for a dip in a swimming pool and looked like she was having the time of her life.

Lisa McHugh, an acclaimed Scottish-Irish country-pop star, was preparing to make a return to the stage after battling a series of health setbacks. 

However, those plans have changed. 

In a new post on social media, McHugh revealed she was recently rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with sepsis. 

According to Mayo Clinic, sepsis is “a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection.” Without prompt medical treatment, it can rapidly worsen, progress to septic shock, and lead to death. McHugh, who was scheduled to perform her first concert of 2026 alongside Nathan Carter on Thursday, Feb. 12, at The Clanree Hotel & Leisure Centre in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland, had to postpone the show, but she shared that she is “receiving the best care and treatment.” 

“Hi everyone, I’m so sorry to say that I won’t be able to perform tonight with @iamnathancarter at the @clanree_hotel, Letterkenny,” McHugh wrote on Instagram on Thursday, Feb. 12. “I was admitted into hospital a couple of days ago with sepsis, but I want to reassure everyone that I'm in the right place and receiving the best care and treatment to help get things under control.”

McHugh went on to say that while she feels “disappointed” about the situation, her main priority now is focusing on her recovery, so she can eventually make a return to live performing.

The News Comes After a Series of Health Issues

The difficult news comes less than a year after McHugh revealed she was diagnosed with a condition that had caused her to lose the use of both her legs for two months. In the summer, she revealed she was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) as well as a diagnosis of Trigeminal Neuralgia from earlier in 2025.

“FND is a condition that affects the way the brain and nervous system work, leading to a range of neurological symptoms such as limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, walking difficulties, spasms, sensory issues, cognitive problems, and more,” she wrote at the time in an Instagram post. “The specific cause for FND is unknown, but one of the main triggers is stress, trauma, and anxiety. And while there is no cure, it is treatable provided you adapt your life as much as possible to manage it.”

She added, “....With all of that said, I’m going to sign off and take time out from everything for a while to concentrate on recovering fully. In the meantime, I’d really appreciate all of your prayers & I’ll soak up this time with my beautiful family and be grateful for every day.”

The "Barracuda" performer and her husband first started dating in 2011, and it seems like they quickly fell in love, as they got married the next year on April 28. The two have been together ever since, occasionally showing off their lovely blended family on social media.

Wilson and Bywater met through their manager, as she told People in 2021, "I had my manager come with me on the first dinner I had with him. I just was too nervous to go on a date after 20-plus years of the stability of marriage. It was way scary." The Heart guitarist got divorced from her first husband, director Cameron Crowe, in 2010.

"By the third date, I finally was brave enough to just drag myself to see him. I told him, 'Don't pick me up. I'm driving myself,'" she went on, talking about how their relationship started. Lamb of God sparked mixed reactions from the public after making a significant move.

The heavy metal band, fronted by Randy Blythe, is ushering in a new era as they unveil a striking visual transformation.

Recently, observant fans may have spotted the band’s new logo replacing the old font.

Although both featured their signature dark aesthetic, the previous one showcased a gothic-style typeface, which gave the logo an extreme-metal feel, while the new one has cleaner lines and more legible lettering while still maintaining that dark tone.

In a recent interview with Hardlore, Blythe opened up about the band’s major visual overhaul.

"Our logo, to be perfectly honest, needed changing,” he mentioned in the channel, adding, “It’s the papyrus font. Had we known 20-whatever years ago that we would wind up looking like a falafel restaurant menu, we wouldn’t have used that."

Following the interview, fans have divided reactions regarding Lamb of God’s new logo.

In a post on Reddit, one fan found “the new one is boring af.”

“I'm not opposed to them changing the logo, but the new one is just boring and generic,” a fan added.

“The new one looks like the modern version of every company’s logo, ironed out and more generic. I personally like the old one a lot more; it has more personality,” a commenter echoed.

One thought that the frontman’s comparison to a falafel was hilarious, noting, “I prefer falafel, but this made me laugh so hard.”

As for one Reddit user, the person agreed that the logo was due for a change, adding that the new design is a welcome improvement.

“Love the logo. It’s the LOG and has been for 20+ years! Also, I felt this way since the 90s. The logo change is always a kiss of death. It seems like bands, when they are officially not what they once were, you always get the dreaded logo change,” a commenter said.

During the interview, Lamb of God’s vocalist also talked about their soon-to-be-released album, set to launch on March 13 through Century Media and Epic.

"In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America,” Blythe revealed. “Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago."

Amid the visual changes and release of a new album, the heavy metal band is set for a European and North American tour, kicking off in Maryland on March 17, followed by a string of shows in Canada, the Midwest of the U.S., and the East Coast before continuing in Puerto Rico, Türkiye, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany and more.

As the search for Nancy Guthrie nears the two-week mark, a new report reveals the technology detectives are using to find the missing 84-year-old.

"Investigators have used what is called a 'signal sniffer,'" reporter Brian Entin shared on Saturday, February 14. "It is a small device that was sent in and attached to the Sheriff’s helicopter. It can detect Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker signal. The helicopter has to stay low and move slowly for it to work."

As news of the use of "signal sniffers" began to circulate, many social media users who have been closely following the case of Guthrie's disappearance were left with more questions than answers.

"How come they waited 2 weeks for this?" one fan tweeted, which appeared to be the consensus among users.

However, it is unclear whether the Pima County Sheriff's Department and/or the FBI have been using this technique in their search from the beginning. Helicopters were seen circling the Catalina Hills area earlier this week.

The latest update comes one day after SWAT raided a residence approximately two miles from Guthrie's Tucson, Arizona, home.

Authorities "detained a man and a woman from the house and they also detained a man from a traffic stop at a Culver’s restaurant very close to that house," Entin shared via YouTube on Friday evening. "And I’m told that it’s all connected. I’m told it could be a mother and son that were detained at the house and maybe a brother at the traffic stop."

It was later confirmed that no arrests were made during the raid.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department has been tight-lipped since the SWAT raid, sharing simply, "Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case."

Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI – no additional information is currently available," the department tweeted on Friday.

The FBI has upped its reward from $50,000 to $100,000 for "information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance."

Detectives on the case are still searching for a male, "approximately 5’9” - 5’10” tall, with an average build," as seen in footage recovered from Guthrie's doorbell camera from the night she disappeared.

What made the show even more engaging was its interactive format—she fielded viewer questions in real time while cooking, demonstrating not just her kitchen skills but also her ability to think on her feet and connect with her audience.

With her background as the former executive chef of Gourmet magazine, she was trusted by viewers in the late 1990s and early 2000s for her culinary advice, giving her credibility and charm in equal measure. This earned her a decade-long run on the network, cementing her as one of Food Network's foundational figures.

9. The Kitchen (2014–2025)

The most recent cancellation, and possibly the most shocking, is The Kitchen. Co-hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian, Sunny Anderson, Jeff Mauro, Sonny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Marcela Valladolid, and, later, Alex Guaranaschelli, this talk show-style program was wildly popular. It served 40 seasons on the Food Network, offering home cooks simple, seasonal recipes brought to you by multiple celebrity chefs and personalities with broad backgrounds.

According to TV Insider, the show was canceled in December 2025 due to "a strategic evaluation of resources, shifting network priorities and corporate restructuring under Warner Bros. Discovery."

10. Cutthroat Kitchen (2013–2017)

Cutthroat Kitchen was one culinary competition show that many cooking fans could get behind. Not only is the host, Alton Brown, one of the most unique television personalities of our time, but he also plays the perfect manipulative schemer to run a show that thrives on sabotage and high stakes. Chefs on the program had to use their provided $25,000 wisely, forcing opponents to make ridiculous ingredient substitutions or trade their most-loved culinary tools for random pieces of equipment that are difficult to work with. It was one of those shows that kept you on the edge of your seat, and Alton Brown was the one driving the boat.

After 15 seasons and almost 200 episodes, Brown called it quits in 2017, craving a return to simple, cooking-focused programming. He reportedly stated, "I've had enough... I need to get back to what I do." The spring of 2025 brought a new Cutthroat Kitchen series, Knives Out, hosted by chef Brian Malarkey. The result, though, has brought about mixed reviews from fans. Only time will tell if it will hold up to the classic run!

The great Sara Bareilles once crooned, "I'm not gonna write you a love song." But hey, at least there's a playlist out there featuring of all the best ones, courtesy of a certain celebrity chef.

Ina Garten took to social media on Saturday, Feb. 14 to honor the winter holiday known as Valentine's Day by sharing a sweet photo of her husband Jeffrey Garten. But in the same breath, the renowned cook, 78, mentioned her "Favorite Love Songs" playlist that's still available to fans on the biggest music streamers.

"How romantic is an adorable man in Paris with a huge bouquet of roses?" the caption of the author's recent Instagram post reads. "Happy Valentine’s Day! Don’t forget my playlist Ina's Favorite Love Songs is available on Apple Music and Spotify."

Fans showed their appreciation for the TV cook's holiday-themed post — and hit playlist — in the comments section. "Happy Valentine’s Day, Ina! Hosting a Valentine’s brunch today & made your blueberry ricotta breakfast cake 😍," wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, "Been listening to this playlist for years. ❤️"

Country star Reba McEntire brought fans along on a very special tradition she has with her longtime partner, Rex Linn, in a new video on Valentine's Day: going to Sonic Drive-In for a special holiday meal.

The two shared a video narrating the 2026 edition, with Linn in the driver's seat as he declared, "We are on our way to the greatest Valentine's meal on the planet. Sonic."

McEntire jumps in from behind the camera, prompting Linn to tell the fans that it's the sixth year they've participated in this tradition, although he later corrected himself, noting that it's actually their fifth year doing so.

Linn said of the meal, "Not only is it not that pricey, but it's the best food ever...It will be the greatest Valentine's dinner of all time."

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are so excited," McEntire said as the couple pulled up to the Sonic, with Linn adding, "I'm a little emotional," right before ordering their food.

In the caption, McEntire shared some more about the experience, writing, "Rex and I had a wonderful Sonic Valentine’s Day Lunch a little northeast of LA. I ventured away from my regular order of a #1 number cheeseburger, no onions, to the newly added Smashburger. While it was great, I’m still partial to Rex’s homemade one! 😉 Rex had the foot-long cheese coney with jalapeños. And of course, we had tots!"

"We finished with an incredible mouth-watering chocolate peanut butter shake. Amazing!" she went on, before wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day and encouraging them to try Sonic.

Conflict is a part of life, whether we like it or not. Some of us are conflict-avoidant, while others are willing to face it head-on—and then some. 

As licensed psychologist Dr. Natalie Bernstein defines it, conflict occurs when expectations, wants and needs do not align. 

“In a relationship, it often leads to heightened emotions requiring active steps toward resolution,” she explains, emphasizing that conflict isn’t necessarily bad—it’s a signal that something needs to be addressed. 

“It usually shows up when one or more people feel threatened emotionally or physically,” says Dr. Judy Ho, PhD, a Clinical and Forensic Neuropsychologist, a tenured Associate Professor at Pepperdine University and author of Stop Self-Sabotage and The New Rules of Attachment. 

Discord becomes something else altogether when it becomes physical—in this case, these incidents shouldn’t be ignored, and it’s important to leave if you can and report it to the appropriate people or authorities. 

But, the majority of disputes tend to be verbal in nature, and encompass a disagreement with a partner, a misunderstanding with a friend or family member or friction with a colleague. The Impact Unresolved Conflict Has on Your Relationships

Healthy conflict comes to a resolution, but unresolved conflict can negatively impact relationships, leading to resentment, lack of trust or eventually withdrawal from the relationship, as Dr. Bernstein explains.  

Unhealthy conflict is typically handled poorly or is chronically avoided, Dr. Ho states. 

“Resolved conflict, on the other hand, can strengthen relationships, leading to an increased sense of feeling valued, heard and understood,” Dr. Bernstein shares.

8 Phrases That 'Instantly Escalate' Conflict, According to Psychologists1. “You always…” or “You never…”

Dr. Bernstein says that both of these phrases “turn one’s experience into a reflection of their character, magnifying the problem.”

2. “You’re too sensitive.”

This phrase dismisses one’s emotional experience, and according to Dr. Ho, it’s a form of gaslighting “because what you are saying is they are too sensitive, and it’s their problem, rather than [validating] their emotions.”

As a result, as she says, the other person in the conflict will feel invalidated and may either shut down or escalate to be heard.

3. “This is just how I am—you can’t change that.”

Dr. Bernstein says that this particular phrase “denies responsibility, willingness to change or accountability for their actions.”

4. “Fine. Do whatever you want.”

These words communicate withdrawal and resentment. 

“‘Do whatever you want’ means you don’t care about their actions, feelings or what they ultimately want to do,” Dr. Ho states. “You’re saying, ‘I don’t want to be part of this.’ It leaves the other person feeling emotionally abandoned or punished.”

5. “Why do you make everything such a big deal?”

Deflecting away from the reason for the conflict, Dr. Bernstein says that this phrase suggests that the issue “is the person’s problem, not the actual problem.”

6. “That’s not what happened.”

“There isn’t always an objective truth—there’s always [a] differing perspective, and saying this shows them that you don’t care what their viewpoint was,” Dr. Ho says. “The person feels erased or gaslit, which quickly increases defensiveness.”

7. “Do you always have to start a fight?”

As Dr. Bernstein shares, this phrase invalidates the other person’s feelings by suggesting they are overreacting or that their needs are “too much.” 

8. “Whatever.”

This single word can quickly escalate an argument. Dr. Ho says that it signals disengagement and contempt, like what they say does not matter. 

“It communicates that the relationship isn’t worth the effort,” she says.

How to Properly Approach Conflict in Your Life

As mentioned, avoiding conflict isn’t necessarily healthy, so there are ways to “fight fair.” 

“It’s more important that when conflict arises, both partners want to come to the table and deal with it constructively,” Dr. Ho says, and recommends slowing down your own emotional reactions, staying open minded instead of rushing to defend yourself and speaking about your own experiences rather than accuse the other person of feeling one way or doing something to spite you. 

“Try active listening, which means you listen for a few sentences, then try to paraphrase what they say and then ask if you got it right,” she advises. “This gives both of you an opportunity to correct any misunderstandings right there in the moment instead of letting it spiral, or build into resentment because you thought they meant one thing when they didn’t mean it at all.”

Dr. Bernstein suggests “staying in your lane” during conflict by telling the other person what you need rather than what they aren’t doing. 

“Set time limits for discussions, especially if one person seems to become more emotionally upset during periods of conflict,” she says. 

Conflict can actually improve relationships, even though it seems counterintuitive. 

“If you can view the discussion as an opportunity to share their experience and strengthen the relationship, rather than viewing their words as attacks, you are more likely to resolve the situation quickly,” Dr. Bernstein says. 

Dr. Ho concludes, “Don’t be afraid of conflict, even if it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s the best way to get truthful and more deeply connected with a person you care about.”
