Michael Douglas, 81, Set to Publish a Memoir This Fall

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 8:04am

Longtime actor Michael Douglasis marking a new chapter in his life. The two-time Oscar winner is set to release a memoir this fall with Grand Central Publishing.

The memoir, currently untitled, is now available for pre-sale and will be released on October 6, 2026.

“After being asked for many years, I’ve finally decided it’s time to tell my story on my own terms.  Not the highlight reel, not the version shaped by headlines or box office numbers, but the real one,” Douglas told Deadline

“I’ve lived a life that unfolded in public while being deeply private at the same time, and there’s a difference,” the Wall Street actor added. “This is about where I came from, what I fought against, and what I chose for myself. Fame can blur the truth; this is my attempt to bring it back into focus.”

In addition to Douglas’ career and philanthropic work, the memoir will also touch upon his relationship history, marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones, his battle with stage four cancer, and his son Cameron’s struggle with drug addiction and the law.

Grand Central Publishing’s Editor-in-Chief, Coling Dickerman, praised the upcoming project, saying in a statement, “Growing up in the shadow of a Hollywood legend, navigating a risk-taking career that has spanned six decades and included films that defined our culture, privately fighting health and family battles while in the glare of the spotlight — Douglas’ life is a towering achievement in perseverance.”

Dickerman added, "That he has chosen to tell his story with such honesty and intimacy is a gift to his fans as well as everyone who wants a front-row seat to Hollywood’s most turbulent and thrilling years."

Douglas began acting in the 1960s, and some of his more notable roles to date include Gordon Gekko in Wall Street, Daniel Kaffee in A Few Good Men, and Vincent Bugliosi in The Black Dahlia.

'Deadpool' Writer on Stunning Viral AI Clip: It's 'Over For Us'

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 8:01am

A 15-second AI-generated video showing Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt has sparked a fresh round of anxiety in Hollywood, with one prominent screenwriter warning that the industry’s foundation is shifting faster than many expected.

The clip, posted this week by Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson, depicts the two stars exchanging blows on a rooftop in admittedly cinematic footage that is polished and convincingly lifelike. Robinson said he made the video by entering a brief prompt into Seedance 2.0, an AI video model owned by ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok.

Rhett Reese, the screenwriter behind Zombieland and Deadpool & Wolverine, had a frank response when seeing the clip. “I hate to say it,” he posted to X. “It’s likely over for us.” When a commenter dismissed the video as poor quality, Reese argued the direction the technology is heading matters more than a single example. In his view, the tools are advancing toward a near-term reality in which a single person could generate a film “indistinguishable” from what major studios release, provided that person has the talent and taste to guide it.

I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us. https://t.co/248PmWnEgr

— Rhett Reese (@RhettReese) February 11, 2026

'In next to no time, one person is going to be able to sit at a computer and create a movie indistinguishable from what Hollywood now releases, ' Reese posted. 'True, if that person is no good, it will suck. But if that person possesses Christopher Nolan’s talent and taste (and someone like that will rapidly come along), it will be tremendous.'

Reese later said that his read is not optimistic. 'A post to clarify: I am not at all excited about AI encroaching into creative endeavors,'; he said. 'To the contrary, I’m terrified. So many people I love are facing the loss of careers they love. I myself am at risk. When I wrote ‘It’s over,’ I didn’t mean it to sound cavalier or flippant. I was blown away by the Pitt v Cruise video because it is so professional. That’s exactly why I’m scared. My glass half empty view is that Hollywood is about to be revolutionized/decimated. If you truly think the Pitt v Cruise video is unimpressive slop, you’ve got nothing to worry about. But I’m shook,' he added.

One poster summed up the issue like this: 'Maybe the MPAA should have gone after the very obvious copyright infringement a few years ago from the companies training LLMs. It's like if you ran a jewelry store that got robbed a bunch but you didn't really do anything about it until the robbers opened competing store across the street with your stolen merchandise.'

Ironically, Reese went on to say he assumes the people at the top are also using AI.

'I suspect (could be wrong) that many screenwriters are using AI heavily in their writing, and many execs are using it heavily in their analysis of writing,' he said. 'So, hilariously, all the people are sitting back watching as AI critiques what it just created.'

Fans Doubt ‘Sister Wives’ Will Return Despite Reports of Season 21

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:51am

Sister Wives fans are not convinced the TLC series will return for a new season.

In a Reddit thread, viewers believe the series has simply run its course. After nearly 16 years, the Brown family is no longer the cohesive unit that originally drew audiences in.

Kody Brown now lives monogamously with Robyn Brown. His three spiritual wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown Woolley, left the family over the course of three years.

"The Garrison tribute episode is when the entire series should have ended. There never should have even been a tell-all," one fan wrote.

A second penned, "I predict there will be about one hour total of new content for the entire season, and the rest of it will be showing us those same awful 12 pictures over and over that they’ve shown us in every episode for 20 seasons!"

"I'm in the same boat. I'm still hoping for real answers, and I can only hope Meri and Jenn [Sullivan] start pushing more," a third Redditor claimed. A fourth believes, "As long as they have viewers, the same clips and storylines will drag on forever."

During the Season 20 One- on-One episodes, as reported by PEOPLE Magazine, Kody told show host Sukanya Krishnan that doing the season-ending interviews felt “harder than the year before.” He called them a “special nickname”: the "chicken s*** chit chat.”

View this post on Instagram

In a separate clip, Kody said the interviews make him feel he's "constantly swimming upstream. I'm tired of the antagonistic discussion. I'm tired of throwing the accusations at each other.”

The One-on-One host shared her experiences interviewing the Browns on the podcast The Sister Wives Professor.  She admitted she can only push the cast for information "as far as they want me to go.”

She added, “We’ve seen the family unravel since the first time I sat down with them in 2022, to what’s happening [now]. It’s gaining their trust, too. There are so many layers to this family’s story. Some of it we’ve heard, and we think we all know it, but the reality is we don’t know all the nuances within their own family culture, and we peel back the layers as much as they’ll allow us to.”

Christine and Kody's daughter, Mykelti Brown Padron, confirmed in an interview for the Growing Up in Polygamy YouTube channel that the family has filmed content for a 21st season.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.

HGTV Pulled ‘Rehab Addict’ Amid Slur Backlash — But Another Host Lost His Show Over Fraud

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:42am

A resurfaced clip of Nicole Curtis using a racial slur cost her HGTV’s Rehab Addict, but former host Charles Todd Hill lost Flip It to Win It — and his freedom — after a 2019 fraud indictment.

The 2013 series followed five teams of house flippers who bid against each other for sight-unseen abandoned homes. But off-camera, Hill, a former house flipper, was running a real estate scam where he convinced real estate investors to fund home-flipping projects, but instead diverted much of the money for personal use.

Prosecutors said Hill controlled the company’s finances, falsified balance sheets, and obtained loans using misleading financial information. Rather than spending investor funds on renovating properties as promised, authorities alleged he used the money on luxury cars, vacations, and personal expenses, disguising those purchases as construction costs in company records.

Approximately 18 homes were involved, with at least 11 homeowners left with completely unfinished or partially finished homes, forcing them to take over contracting themselves. Prosecutor Oanh Tran said the impact of Hill's scam was tectonic. "Businesses were shut down, one victim lost his home, so the consequences of his fraud are far reaching that cover various aspects of life that these victims are still dealing with," he told a local ABC news station.

Hill was ultimately convicted and sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay approxoimately $10 million for real estate and financial fraud.

Flip It to Win It contestant Beau Eckstein said he had positive interactions with Hill while on the show, but revealed that the series wasn't a truly realistic view of the house-flipping business. "I think the TV channels always show, like everybody's making 150K profit - have you ever stopped and said well, there's no interest, there's no real estate commissions involved - like what you're forecasting is not actually reality,"  he said.

Curtis' Rehab Addict had recently returned to HGTV but was pulled when a clip surfaced online of her saying a racial slur on-camera, but then asked producers to delete it. Curtis has since apologized, admitting she knew it was wrong and vowing it would never happen again.

Kate Hudson Reveals the One Thing She and Mom Goldie Hawn ‘Never’ Talk About

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:36am

It’s all about work/life balance. On Friday, January 13, Kate Hudson and her mom, Goldie Hawn, sat down with fans at a special screening and Q&A of Hudson’s Neil Diamond biopic, Song Song Blue

While speaking with host Pete Hammond, Hudson, 46, revealed that she and Hawn, 80, “never talk about acting.”

“We talk about film and we talk about experiences. But my parents, they're not stage parents,” the Almost Famous actress added, referring to Hawn’s longtime partner, Kurt Russell

Hudson went on to say that Hawn and Russell, 74, emphasized her “craft” above all else. “It was always more about me learning my craft versus them trying to give me advice,” she recalled.

Hudson later gushed over her mom’s thoughts on Song Song Blue, telling fans, “It was so much fun for her to ask me questions about my process.”

Back in January, Hawn opened up about her relationship with Hudson.

“For the most part, we're always talking about the kids. It just is not, ‘How's the business going?’ I don't do that,” the Oscar winner told People at the time. “There's a lot of things other in life that are meaningful. Our work is part of what we do, and it isn't who we are. Those are two different things.”

Hudson has three children: sonRyder, son Bingham, and daughter Rani. She shares Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham with ex Matt Bellamy, and Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

‘Facts of Life’ Star, 62, Debuts New Hairdo and Hints at Truth About Cast Drama

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:26am

Lisa Whelchel debuted a new hairdo as she made a big announcement. On Feb. 13, The Facts of Life star posted a video to Instagram to show off a new, shorter shoulder-length style for her blonde hair. Whelchel, 62, went on to explain the reason for her new look.

“I got my hair cut today,” she told fans in the video. ‘I figured something new deserved a new ‘do.”

Whelchel then announced her new Substack titled Throw Out the Bathwater.

“I’m sharing stories I’ve never told before,” she said. “It’s been 18 years of living them, and I’m finally ready to share. My time on Survivor, 30 days in a silent retreat, walking in a camino, four ayahuasca ceremonies, faking in love, falling out of love. You name it, I’m sharing about it

Whelchel directed fans to a link to get her first free story, which drops Feb 19.

Whelchel is best known for her role as Blair Warner on The Facts of Life. The NBCsitcom aired from 1979 to 1988 and co-starred Nancy McKeon, Kim Fields, Mindy Cohn, and Charlotte Rae. In 2012, Whelchel competed on Survivor: Philippines, where she tied for second place and won the coveted fan favorite vote. The actress currently hosts MeTV’s Collectors Call.

Lisa Whelchel will address ‘Facts of Life’ reunion drama

For years, fans have been hoping for a Facts of Life reunion, but there was drama surrounding a planned revival—drama that appeared to be pointed at Whelchel.

“We all started to consider it a little bit,” Cohn revealed on Sirius XM’s Jeff Lewis Live in 2024. “We got into talks, and we hired a writer. The four of us got together on a Zoom — this was during COVID — and we had meetings with Norman [Lear] about it.”

Cohn then claimed there was “drama” with one of the co-stars that sabotaged plans for the reboot.

“One of the girls went behind our backs to try to make a separate deal for a spinoff deal just for herself and devastated the rest of us,” she said. “I’m just saying, for a 40-year friendship and sisterhood, there was a tidal wave of emotion around it.”

Cohn described the mystery cast member as a “greedy b----.” After fans discovered Instagram photos of Cohen, McKeon, and Fields hanging out with Whelchel, many assumed the Blair Warner actress was the troublemaker.

Following her Throw Out the Bathwater announcement, a fan wrote a comment to Whelchel that said, “I would like to know more about the relationship among the Facts of Life cast. I was so disheartened to learn that we may never again see you all together. I am truly a super fan and would love seeing you all together again doing something fun!”

“I plan to write about that,” Whelchel promised in the comment section.

Whelchel previously expressed disappointment that The Facts of Life revival never came to fruition.

"We were all very, very disappointed that it didn’t work," she told Closer Weekly in April 2025. “We’d been trying to find a way to work together in some capacity for probably the last 10 years. So, when it looked like this was going to happen, we were all really excited. The contracts were signed, and then the writers’ strike happened, the actors’ strike happened, and then, unfortunately, [Charlotte Rae] and Norman Lear passed. After that, it just kind of dissolved."

"We were all quite disappointed," Whelchel reiterated.

13 Best Eyelash Curlers, Tested by Celebrity Makeup Artists

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:17am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

On the surface, it might seem like all eyelash curlers do the same thing—curl lashes. But actually, it's pretty important that you pick the right curler, and not all of them are created equal. If you're ready to upgrade your curler, or you don't own one yet, Parade spoke with six celebrity makeup artists to learn about the 13 best eyelash curlers. While it may seem like just any lash curler can get the job done, the one that's the most right for you can change the game.

"You really want to match the lash curler to your eye shape," says Kasey Spickard, a celebrity makeup artist in New York City. "There are also smaller lash curlers and half lash curlers if you ... want more precision," he adds.

For Patty Bell, an award-winning film and television makeup artist, a good curl is key for your eye makeup look. "If you want to instantly open up your eyes, get yourself a good eyelash curler. It’s like a face lift for the eyes," she says. "Invest in a good one. It makes such a difference in your makeup."

One makeup artist even called it her one must-have beauty item. "An eyelash curler is the one tool I’d take with me on a desert island," says Jenepher Reynolds, founder of the Jenn of Arch beauty brand.

Want your own desert-island eyelash curler? Here's what you need to know about picking the best one for your face.

What Should You Look for in an Eyelash Curler?

"When you’re looking for an eyelash curler, pay attention to the shape," says Natalia Malova, a New York–based makeup artist who's created looks for fashion week runways, magazine shoots and more. "It should match the curve of your eye so it lifts lashes from the root without pinching."

She also recommends finding one that's wide enough for your entire lash line and also has a soft silicone pad for a "smooth, natural curl" that still protects the lashes.

Top Eyelash CurlersHow To Use an Eyelash Curler

"I like to start as close to the base of the lash line [as I can] and gently squeeze the lashes in the curler for 10 seconds," says Bell. "This instantly lifts and opens up the eyes, giving a bright-eyed, younger look."

Just make sure you're waiting to apply mascara until after you've curled your lashes. "Curling after mascara can cause lashes to stick, crease or snap," says Catrina Breitweiser, a celebrity makeup artist and founder of MBC Cosmetics. She adds that you can gently pulse the curler "at the base of the lashes for a soft, natural-looking lift."

Malova cautions those with fake lashes and extensions to skip the curler entirely. "They can bend the lash band or damage the extensions," she warns.

How To Clean Your Eyelash Curler

"I personally spritz my lash curler with 70% alcohol and wipe down with an alcohol
wipe [to clean it]," says Spickard. He recommends Honest Beauty alcohol wipes.

Breitweiser says the tool should be deep cleaned weekly at least with alcohol or micellar water. It's also important to replace the silicone pad "every few months to keep lashes healthy and prevent damage," she adds.

13 Best Eyelash Curlers, Tested by Makeup Artists1. Best Overall: Shu Uemura Iconic Eyelash Curler, $28

Amazon

This eyelash curler got a shout-out from several of the makeup artists, with Bell calling it her "holy grail of lash curlers" and Malova saying it's "the gold standard."

Malova loves how close it gets to the lash line without pinching. "It’s also one of those tools that lasts forever," she tells Parade. "You don't need to keep replacing it, just change the silicone pads occasionally."

Bell says the curler works with all eye shapes and gives a "natural-looking curl." And the tool is handy for both right and left-handed users, says Kate Johnson, a hair stylist and makeup artist who's worked with the cast of Love is Blind (she's also the founder of The Bridal Beauty Team and co-founder of Glossed Finishing Studio). Johnson says the Shu Uemura curler "has a great grip" for righties, lefties and "people with wrist or hand issues."

2. Best Drugstore: e.l.f. Pro Eyelash Curler, $6

Amazon

This drugstore option is "affordable, accessible and effective," says Breitweiser. That's everything you want from an eyelash curler that you can easily grab while traveling or to keep in your purse for a last-minute event.

3. Best for Beginners: Tarte Picture Perfect Lash Curler, $25

Ulta

Designed with an ergonomic grip, this curler gets Breitweiser's stamp of approval for beginners. She calls it "intuitive and foolproof" to use. The tool is made with comfortable handles and a purple silicone pad so you can more easily see each lash while you're curling.

4. Best for Straight Lashes: Panasonic Heated Curved Eyelash Curler, $40

Amazon

Breitweiser likes this electric eyelash curler for "stubborn straight lashes." It's designed with dual curved pads for a long-lasting curl, and it can be used with or without mascara.

Reynolds notes that "very straight, downcast lashes" can often benefit from a little bit of heat to help them hold their curl.

5. Best for Short Lashes: Preo Prima Curl Up Individual Eyelash Curler, $18

Amazon

Bell loves this individual lash curler for those with short lashes. "[It] allows you to get the closest to the base of the lash line and gives a more precise curl to some of the hard-to-get lashes that a traditional curler can't reach," she says.

6. Best for Deep-Set Eyes: Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler, $33

Amazon

Both Malova and Spickard recommended this curler. "[It] works especially well for slightly deeper set eyes or eyes with a stronger lid bone," says Malova. "The shape feels very controlled and the pressure is gentle."

Spickard says it's his "go-to lash curler" and he likes that it has "a strong curl that lasts."

7. Best for Almond Eyes: Revlon Extra Curl Eyelash Curler, $8

A

Reynolds says this curler is "precise and balanced" and "great for almond-shaped eyes." The tool is shaped to give an even lash curl across the whole lid.

8. Best for Small Eyes: Surratt Relevee Lash Curler, $40

Amazon

Malova likes this curler for those with smaller eyes for whom standard curlers may feel bulky or wide. "It has a slightly narrower curve, so it fits the eye more comfortably," she says.

Johnson tells Parade that this is the curler she personally uses. "It's designed to curl beautifully with less force, and you are able to get close to the lash line without worrying about clamping skin around smaller eyes," she explains.

9. Best for Sensitive Eyes: Shu Uemura S Curler, $28

Shu Uemura

If you have sensitive eyes and using a curler feels daunting, try this one out. "There’s no side bar so it's impossible to pinch the skin," Reynolds says. She adds that she loves the "soft padding" that it has.

10. Best for Long-Lasting Curl: Shiseido Eyelash Curler, $28

Amazon

Breitweiser recommends this tool for lashes that "hold curl all day without over-clamping." Spickard also likes this curler, because it has a slightly flatter shape to help "grab all of your eyelashes."

11. Best for Everyday: Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler, $17

Walmart

"It’s a classic for a reason," Johnson says of the Tweezerman curler, adding that it "opens and closes easily and [is] widely accessible in stores." Reynolds also calls this one a "reliable" everyday tool choice.

12. Best Heated: Grande Cosmetics LASH-LIFT Heated Lash Curler, $39

Amazon

Bell says this heated tool is "perfect for anyone who has trouble using an eyelash curler." Just hold the curler at the lash base and comb up to achieve lift. "[It's] not as damaging to the lashes like a traditional eyelash curler that can sometimes crimp or break the lashes if too much pressure is applied," Bell says. She recommends using this heated curler after mascara for all-day results.

13. Best For Inner Lashes: Shiseido Mini Eyelash Curler, $9

Dokodemo

When you're trying to get to those stubborn inner lashes, Spickard recommends this mini curler. "It doesn't overtake the entire eye when you’re trying to curl the lashes," he says.

Six Flags Great Adventure Announces Return of Fan-Favorite ‘Wild Ride’ for 2026

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:10am

Theme park fans have had a lot to process lately. With industry shakeups, park closures in some markets and persistent rumors about what could be next, coaster loyalists have been watching closely to see which brands double down. For Spring-Summer 2026, Six Flags Great Adventure is making a very public case that it’s all in.

The biggest headline in New Jersey is the return of what the park is calling its “wild” ride—and the quotation marks are intentional. This isn’t a new coaster. It’s the comeback of the Safari Off-Road Adventure, a sprawling, drive-through wildlife expedition that feels worlds away from lift hills and launch tracks.

Guests board rugged, open-air trucks and set out across sweeping habitats home to more than 1,200 animals representing six continents. One moment you’re rolling past towering giraffes stretching toward the trees; the next, you’re eye-level with rhinos or spotting lions lounging in the sun. The guided format adds another layer, with onboard narration that turns the journey into part thrill, part discovery.

What makes the return especially notable is how seamlessly it now fits into a park day. In addition to operating from its traditional Base Camp entrance, the safari will also feature an in-park boarding location near major coasters, making it easy to pivot from high-speed thrills to wildlife encounters without missing a beat. Calling it a “wild ride” in the headline isn’t just wordplay—it reflects how this experience delivers adrenaline of a different kind.

And that’s just one piece of a broader push.

View this post on Instagram

Across the company’s footprint, Six Flags Over Texas is preparing to debutTormenta Raging Run, a headline-grabbing coaster already generating buzz for its record-setting ambitions. Up north, Six Flags New England is adding a new first-of-its-kind thrill of its own, reinforcing the chain’s commitment to big hardware in multiple regions. Coaster upgrades and track improvements—including ongoing refinements to fan favorites like El Toro in New Jersey—signal long-term investment rather than short-term splash.

At the same time, Six Flags is leaning back into recognizable IP, with Looney Tunes characters stepping into a more visible role across parks—an unmistakable nod to families who grew up with Bugs Bunny and now visit with kids of their own.

Related: What We Know So Far About Six Flags’ New Looney Tunes Land

Perhaps the most strategic shift for 2026 isn’t a ride at all. Six Flags’ Gold Pass is expanding to cover an entire region rather than just one home park, opening the door to multi-park weekends without juggling separate tickets.

In California, that means fans can bounce between Six Flags Magic Mountain—long considered a coaster capital for its stacked lineup of record-setters—and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, where thrill rides mix with animal encounters. A single regional pass suddenly makes it easier to chase bucket-list coasters on Saturday and try something completely different on Sunday.

In the Midwest, the ripple effect is just as compelling. With Cedar Point now part of the broader Six Flags family, Gold Pass access across that region puts some of the most celebrated roller coasters in the country within reach. Cedar Point’s skyline of steel regularly dominates enthusiast top-10 lists, drawing riders who plan entire vacations around marquee attractions. Pair that with other regional parks, and a long weekend can quickly turn into a coaster crawl.

For fans who track opening days and ranking debates like sports stats, this regional flexibility changes the calculus. Instead of choosing one “home” park for the season, passholders can map out mini road trips—sampling signature coasters, revisiting classics and stacking credits across multiple properties. In a year when Six Flags is emphasizing both headline-grabbing additions and returning favorites, widening the access net may be one of its smartest plays yet.

In a season framed by uncertainty elsewhere, Six Flags is choosing momentum—mixing animal encounters, iconic characters and record-chasing coasters into one very loud statement about where it’s headed next.

The Easy Way To Turn a Can of Crescent Roll Dough Into a Fancy Valentine’s Snack

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:05am

Valentine's Day food is often fancy and formal (steaks with herby butter, whole lobster), but when you're at home for the holiday celebrating with your family, you might want to keep things a little more casual.

To share the love with kids and adults alike, maybe you're looking for something that's fun, unexpected and ideally easy, so you're not stuck in the kitchen all day. Enter: pizza roses. I'd seen the cute little rolled-up pastries online before and made a mental note that I should try them sometime. When they popped up the feed of one of my favorite food creators, Stephanie Gigliotti, I knew that now was the time.

"We’ve been making these for years," Gigliotti tells Parade. "I usually make them for football games or a Super Bowl party but I thought they’d be perfect for Valentine’s Day, especially if you’re more of a savory person instead of sweet person or for a fun snack/easy dinner idea to surprise your kids for Valentine’s dinner."

The pretty pastries look impressive, yet they come together with minimal ingredients and very little prep time. They start with a can of crescent rolls, which is something I often already have in the fridge. Layer on some pizza-inspired toppings, roll them up, bake them in muffin tins and you've got a cute and easy Valentine's snack or dinner.

To see how this recipe would translate at my house, I headed to the kitchen to give it a try. Read on for my full review, plus everything you need to know to make this cute dish at your place.

What Are Pizza Roses?

Courtesy Angel Albring

Pizza roses are a playful twist on pizza in handheld muffin form. Some recipes call for pizza dough, but Gigliotti's version uses canned crescent roll dough to make things easier. Strips of dough are topped with pepperoni, cheese and other tasty things, rolled up and baked in a muffin pan. The swirl of dough with pepperoni pieces tucked inside bakes up in a rose-like shape. They’re hearty enough to double as a quick dinner, especially when served with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

🌹🍕 Pepperoni Roses 🍕🌹 Because snacks can be romantic too. Unroll crescent dough and pinch the seams together into one rectangle. Cut into long strips. Sprinkle mozzarella down the center, then overlap pepperoni slices along one edge (let them hang over a bit for that rose look). Roll up tightly, place into a greased muffin tin, sprinkle with Italian seasoning, and bake at 375°F for 12–15 minutes until golden and bubbly. Serve warm with marinara for dipping and watch them disappear faster than flowers ever do. 💐➡️🍕 Perfect for parties, game day, Valentine’s Day, or anytime you want to impress with minimal effort. #PepperoniRoses #CrescentRollHacks #EasyAppetizers #PartyFoodIdeas #PizzaSnacks

For serving, marinara sauce is good to have on hand, but not strictly necessary. You will also need a lightly greased muffin tin to bake the rolls.

How To Make Pizza Roses

To make these pepperoni pizza roses, start by unrolling the crescent dough and pinching the seams together to form one solid rectangle. This step is important because it prevents gaps and helps the rolls hold their shape. Once the dough is sealed, slice it lengthwise into long, even strips.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Brush the pizza sauce on the dough strips, then add the mozzarella. Sprinkle the cheese down the center of each strip, keeping it fairly contained so it doesn’t spill out too much during rolling.

"I used shredded mozzarella because that’s what I had on hand, but sliced sandwich mozzarella would be easier to work with," Gigliotti shares. "Don’t use too much pizza sauce on the dough or the dough will be gummy. Add a thin smear, then add more on the side for dipping."

Next, overlap pepperoni slices along one edge of the strip, allowing part of each slice to extend over the side, which will create the rose petal effect once the dough is rolled up.

Working carefully, roll each strip up tightly. This step takes a little patience and practice, but don’t stress about perfection. Arrange the rolled “roses” in a greased muffin tin.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Once all the rolls are in the muffin tin, sprinkle with Italian seasoning and bake at 375°F until the dough is golden and the cheese is bubbly. Let them cool slightly, then serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Are Pepperoni Pizza Roses Worth the Effort?

These pizza roses were an unexpected win. While they’re often served as a snack, they absolutely worked as a quick dinner in my house, especially on a busy night. The rolling process does require some patience, and I’ll admit it took a few tries to get them looking just right, but I already know how to roll them better next time.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Flavor-wise, the rolls had crispy edges, soft centers and plenty of cheesy, pepperoni goodness, which made them a hit with my whole family. My kids devoured them, and my husband asked for more without hesitation. They’re quick, crowd-pleasing and just different enough to shake up dinner or a holiday spread without causing extra stress.

Tips, Hints and Tricks

1. Have patience when rolling the dough

Rolling the dough takes a bit of practice, so don’t be discouraged if the first few aren’t perfect. They’ll still taste great, and you’ll likely find your rhythm as you keep rolling. Keeping the dough cold until you’re ready to work with it helps prevent sticking and tearing. If the cheese or pepperoni starts slipping out, gently tuck it back in as you roll.

2. Get creative

For variations, try swapping pepperoni for cooked sausage, ham or even roasted vegetables. Different cheeses, like provolone or a mozzarella-blend, also work well. You can also choose a different dough. "I used crescent roll dough this time but I’ve used pizza dough and puff pastry," Gigliotti shares. "The perfect 'use what you have' recipe!" She adds, "These would be great brushed in garlic butter or drizzled with hot honey while warm!"

3. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer (or enjoy them cold)

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheated briefly in the oven or air fryer to restore crispness. Gigliotti said her husband likes these crescent rolls roses cold, so "they could be a lunchbox idea with pizza sauce on the side."

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Overnight Update: Authorities Detain Possible Mother-Son-Brother in Raid, Traffic Stop

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:02am

Update: The Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NewsNation's Brian Entin the overnight commotion was them "just tracking down leads. No arrests. And no signs of Nancy."

Original article below.

Authorities may be a big step closer to finding out what happened to Nancy Guthrie.

On Friday, Feb. 13, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed that there was DNA found in Nancy's home that did not match her or anyone in her close circle. A short while later, the Pima County Sheriff's Department along with SWAT went to a staging area with rumors of a manhunt circulating online. Then, police showed up at a home about two miles away from where Nancy lived.

According to Entin, the movement was directly related to Nancy's disappearance.

"It has been an insane four or five hours in Tucson," Entin said during an episode of his YouTube show. Authorities "detained a man and a woman from the house and they also detained a man from a traffic stop at a Culver's restaurant very close to that house. And I'm told that it's all connected. I'm told it could be a mother and son that were detained at the house and maybe a brother at the traffic stop," Entin continued.

The vehicle that was being looked at in the Culver's parking lot was a Range Rover. It was later towed.

Entin had a front row seat to the raid as he was able to get into the police perimeter before it was set. He said that authorities did not need to "use force" to enter the home and that the man and the woman "surrendered." Entin went on to say that authorities were at the home for hours collecting evidence and called it a "pretty big development."

Meanwhile, the Pima County Sheriff's Department shared its own updates on social media.

"There is no press briefing scheduled for tonight regarding the Nancy Guthrie investigation. A written statement is forthcoming," one message read. About an hour later, the department posted an update. "Reporting that current law enforcement activity is surrounding a home belonging to a former county attorney is NOT accurate," it read.

After another hour had passed, a third update was posted.

"Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case. Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI - no additional information is currently available," read the post.

— AZ Intel (@AZ_Intel_) February 14, 2026

Nancy has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities have been working diligently to find her and to find the people responsible for her disappearance.

It is unclear if the people who were detained on Friday night were suspected of being directly involved with Nancy's disappearance or if they could have been behind any of the emails sent to TMZ demanding money for information about Nancy or her would-be kidnappers. There's also a chance that the people detained don't have anything to do with the case.

At the time of this writing, no arrests have been reported.

Megyn Kelly Has a Strong Response to Kevin James' Take on Politics

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:00am

Megyn Kellywants more actors in Hollywood to follow in Kevin James' footsteps.

After the King of Queens star explained in a new interview why he chooses not to publicly share his opinion on politics, Kelly insisted that more celebrities should be taking a page out of his book.

James, 60, recently told Variety that he doesn't weigh in on politics because "There are experts who know much more than I do."

"I'm just focusing on what I can do, delivering a fun, heartfelt break from the craziness of the world," James told the outlet in an interview published on Thursday, Feb. 12. "Everybody carries themselves around all day long with a lot of stress. It’s necessary in some ways, but you also need a break. You’ve got to look around and find the good in things. Otherwise, you’re just not going to function."

"I want to make people have fun, have hope and get a nice escape in their day," the Paul Blart: Mall Cop star added.

"Is it that hard, Hollywood?" Kelly wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to James' statement, while imploring other actors, "Just be like Kevin James."

Kelly has long expressed frustration when democratic celebrities use their platforms to speak out about politics. Most recently, the former Fox News anchor slammed stars like Natalie Portman, who spoke out against ICE and the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti while attending the Sundance Film Festival last month.

"We don't give a s—t what Natalie Portman thinks or doesn't think about this," Kelly said on the Jan. 27 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, further calling the Black Swan actress a "know-nothing Hollywood starlet."

Kelly also took aim at Jimmy Kimmel, who became emotional during his late-night show while speaking about Pretti's death at the hands of ICE agents.

"Save your acting for someone who cares. Save your fake tears, which, in Jimmy Kimmel's case, are always about himself," Kelly said during the same episode of her show.

Bob Dylan Called This 1968 Song the Most Powerful of All Time

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 7:00am

When Bob Dylan hands out a compliment, it shouldn't be taken lightly.

With a career spanning decades, the legendary singer-songwriter focused heavily on his own material and maintained a relentless touring schedule, placing him amongst the greats in music history

And while it would be easy to pinpoint his own songs as some of the most powerful of all time, as he's had plenty of chart-topping hits that tackled social justice and politics head-on, Dylan actually bestowed that honor on another artist.

His choice—a blues rock/ R&B track—provided insight into the many facets of his eclectic musical taste and his ability to recognize authenticity regardless of era or genre.

The tune Dylan championed as the most powerful of all time was revealed in a 1969 interview with Rolling Stone.

Dylan explained that it was Johnny Thunder's "I'm Alive" that caught his attention when he first heard it played on the radio.

When asked by the outlet's JannWenner if he was currently impressed by anything in the rock music scene, he immediately pointed to the song, stating, "Never heard it either, huh? Well, I can’t believe it. Everyone I’ve talked to, I’ve asked them if they’ve heard that record."

"It was one of the most powerful records I’ve ever heard," he continued, adding, " Well, it was that sentiment, truly expressed. That’s the most I can say … if you heard the record, you’d know what I mean. But that’s about all …"

It's one of the highest compliments coming from Dylan, and though the song was first recorded by R&B singer Johnny Thunder and released as a single in 1968, it was written by Tommy James of the Shondells, who later had his band record their own version in 1969 for their album, "Crimson & Clover."

Despite getting Dylan's seal of approval, the song never achieved the same success as Shondell's other hits, including "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Mony Mony."

Over the years, many artists have put their spin on the song, including Tom Jones, as it appeared on his 2008 album, 24 Hours, along with Don Fardon, whose cover was released in 1969.

According to Rock and Roll Garage, Dylan's memoir titled "Chronicles" also cited composer Harold Arlen's 1941 track "Blues in the Night" as a powerful and timeless song.

"The powerful 'Blues in the Night,' 'Stormy Weather,' 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' 'Get Happy.' In Harold's songs, I could hear rural blues and folk music. There was an emotional kinship there. I couldn't help but notice it. I could never escape from the bittersweet, lonely, intense world of Harold Arlen," he wrote of Arlen, who may be best known now for composing the classic Wizard of Oztune.

The Surprising Story Behind The Beach Boys’ First No. 1 Album

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 6:27am

By 1964, The Beach Boys had already placed 17 singles on the Billboard charts, including their first No. 1 hit, yet a chart-topping album had still eluded them, until a live record finally claimed the top spot.

According to U Discover Music, the band didn't claim their first number one album until Beach Boys Concert. It was recorded live in August 1964 at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento California.

Beach Boys Live hit the top spot on the album charts on December 5, 1964, unseating Barbra Streisand's People LP from the top spot. The album’s raw energy and infectious harmonies quickly made it a favorite with fans, cementing the Beach Boys’ rise to the top of the charts.

The album contained some outstanding Beach Boys material, such as "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Little Deuce Coupe," "I Get Around," "Don't Worry Baby," and "In My Room." Shortly after the live album, Brian Wilson retired from performing.

American Songwriter reports that Wilson suffered a panic attack in December 1964, shortly after the album's release. The band was on a flight to Houston when this occurred.

Wilson made the decision to stop performing with the band. However, he remained an integral part of their writing and recording processes.

“I used to be Mr. Everything,” Wilson told Earl Leaf, as reported by Rolling Stone. “I felt I had no choice. I was run down mentally and emotionally because I was running around, jumping on jets from one city to another on one-night stands, also producing, writing, arranging, singing, planning, teaching—to the point where I had no peace of mind and no chance to actually sit down and think or even rest. I was so mixed up and so overworked."

He continued, "We started recording the Beach Boys Today album. We were about halfway through the album, and one night I told the guys I wasn’t going to perform on stage anymore, that I can’t travel."

View this post on Instagram

“I told them I foresee a beautiful future for the Beach Boys group, but the only way we could achieve it was if they did their job and I did mine. They would have to get a replacement for me . . . I didn’t say 'they.' I said 'we' because it isn’t they and me, it’s 'us,'" Wilson concluded.

Originally, Wilson was replaced by Glen Campbell, who toured with The Beach Boys in early 1965, playing bass and singing. Thereafter, Bruce Johnston joined the touring group that same year, providing vocals and playing both keyboard and bass guitar.

Although the group would go on to have some of the most influential albums in the recording industry, The Beach Boys would not hit the Billboard top spot again until 1974 with Endless Summer.

Beach Boys Live proved that the band’s raw, live sound could capture fans’ hearts just as well as a polished studio hit.

Marriott Just Opened a First-of-Its-Kind All-Inclusive Resort in Barbados

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 6:10am

When it comes to Caribbean beach escapes, travelers usually have to choose: boutique personality or all-inclusive ease. Now, Marriott International is betting they can deliver both in one address.

The hospitality giant has debuted Marriott’s Crystal Cove, Barbados, A Tribute All-Inclusive Resort, marking the first time its Tribute Portfolio brand has entered the all-inclusive space. The 88-room property sits on Barbados’ coveted West Coast, about 16 miles from Grantley Adams International Airport, along a stretch of shoreline known for calm, crystalline waters and velvety sand.

Tribute Portfolio hotels are typically celebrated for their individuality and strong sense of place, and this opening signals Marriott’s intent to bring that same personality-driven approach to a format traditionally associated with convenience and predictability. In other words: expect less cookie-cutter, more character.

“Bringing Tribute Portfolio into an all-inclusive setting is an exciting moment for the brand as well as the entire Caribbean region,” said Brian King, President, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International in a statement.

“Crystal Cove naturally captures what makes the brand so compelling—personality, creativity, and a true sense of community—while delivering the ease and inclusivity that we know travelers crave. Crystal Cove brings the Tribute Portfolio lens to island living in a way that feels fresh, connected and distinctly Barbadian," he added.

At Crystal Cove, design weaves together color, texture and open-air living. Guest rooms and suites overlook either gardens or the sea, while three lagoon-style pools anchor the social energy of the resort. Terraces and breezy gathering spaces encourage lingering, whether over a sunset cocktail or a mid-afternoon coffee break.

Dining is folded into the experience with two restaurants and a café-style concept. One venue, High Tie Bar, highlights Bajan and Caribbean flavors with ocean views, while Artisan Restaurant focuses on chef-led menus in a more intimate setting. Vista Terrace Coffee & Wine Bar transitions from morning espresso to evening pours, and swim-up Cave Bar tucked near a cascading waterfall adds a playful touch.

Beyond the plates and pools, the all-inclusive structure covers motorized and non-motorized water sports—and that includes kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and even water skiing—along with a children’s program created in partnership with CAP and a refreshed fitness center outfitted with Life Fitness equipment. Guests can also tap into a “dine around” option at participating sister properties within the Barbados Collection, broadening their culinary choices beyond a single resort.

Reservations are now open for stays beginning February 12. For Marriott, the launch isn’t just another Caribbean opening—it’s a test case for how far a lifestyle brand can stretch into the all-inclusive world while still feeling distinctly local.

Uma Thurman is just as stunning as any model on the runway at New York Fashion Week.

The acclaimed actress, 55, who rose to international superstardom as Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, has tackled everything from superhero flicks like Batman & Robin to Woody Allen's romantic dramedy Sweet and Lowdown. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Will Be Streaming Soon

One of Thurman's most famous roles was in Quentin Tarantino's two-part martial arts action film Kill Bill. Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, which combines the classic film with added footage, is headed to streaming soon.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will be available for digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Feb. 17, according to a new listing on Apple TV, Forbes reports.

Just be sure to carve out four-and-a-half hours for the epic! And lots of popcorn, of course. Here's the trailer below:

Her Advice to Daughter Maya Hawke

Thurman's daughter, Maya Hawke, is a rising star in her own right. While Netflix's Stranger Thingscatapulted her to superstardom, she followed in her mom's footsteps by appearing in Tarantino's 2019 hit Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood

During an appearance on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang, Poehler asked Hawke what advice Thurman gave her about working with Tarantino.

“‘Keep your shoes on,'” Hawke replied, in reference to Tarantino's alleged obsession with bare feet.

“Keep your shoes on,” repeated Poehler, laughing. “Keep ’em on, baby. Perfect advice. Perfect.”

Hawke went on to say how much joy she found as a child hanging out on movie sets with her mother and her father, acclaimed actor Ethan Hawke.

“It was like this safe, little world where I could be alone. No one needed to be watching me. I could walk over to Crafty and take cookies and M&M's and gummy bears and get them and I could go watch the stunt people practice," she said, saying it "like Disneyland."

'80s Rock Band Announces Update on 45th Anniversary Tour

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 5:32am

Australian rock legends The Church have added five new North American dates to their 45th anniversary, The Singles / 1980–2025 Tour, expanding what is already a major summer run across the U.S. and Canada.

The band shared the news directly with fans on Instagram, writing, “NEW SHOWS ADDED! Happy to announce we were able to add a few more shows to our upcoming summer run in the U.S. and Canada.”

The added concerts include:

  • June 30 – Norwalk, Connecticut
  • July 1 – Woodstock, New York
  • July 2 – Cleveland, Ohio
  • July 3 – Homer, New York
  • July 4 – Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Steve Kilbey and Ian Haug of The Church perform at The Vic Theater on June 28, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.

An exclusive fan pre-sale for tickets and limited VIP packages began Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time for members of the band’s “nightfriends” fan community.

Spotify and local venue presales followed on Thursday, while the general public on-sale started Friday at 10 a.m. local time. The group urged fans to act fast, noting that several shows are already sold out and others are close to capacity.

View this post on Instagram

The newly added stops come as part of a five-week tour that begins June 5 in Seattle and wraps July 11 in Denver. Originally postponed, the rescheduled dates now mark a full celebration of the band’s 45-year career.

The Church's 45th Anniversary

Formed in Sydney in 1980, The Church built a global following with their dreamy mix of post-punk and psychedelic rock. Their breakthrough album Starfish produced the hit “Under the Milky Way,” a song that still draws cheers decades later. Other fan favorites include “The Unguarded Moment,” “Reptile,” “Tantalized,” “Metropolis” and “Ripple.”

In recent years, the band has seen a creative resurgence. Their 2023 album The Hypnogogue and its companion release Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars (2024) earned strong reviews and brought fresh attention to their evolving sound. In November, they released the single “Sacred Echoes (Part Two),” which added to the excitement around this anniversary run.

Frontman and founding member Steve Kilbey described the track as “Bleak and yet beautiful… unlike any previous Church song ever with its almost orchestral climaxes and its sombre mood. The music is by turns delicate and sparse turning into a churning monstrous racket. Intense, forlorn and exultant!”

The five added concerts signal strong demand for the 45th anniversary tour. Some venues on the schedule are already sold out, including multiple nights in Phoenix. Other cities have issued low ticket alerts.

The full routing includes major stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, New York City, Chicago and more before closing in Denver on July 11.

The current lineup features Kilbey alongside longtime drummer Tim Powles, guitarist Ian Haug, multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Cain and guitarist Ashley Naylor.

For fans who have followed The Church since the 1980s, this tour is more than a string of concerts. It’s a milestone.

As the band wrote in their announcement: “See you out there this summer!”

Fan Asks for Help Returning Beloved '50s TV Star’s Lost Wedding Album

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 5:31am

A devoted fan is hoping to reunite a piece of television history with the family of a beloved star.

On a popular classic TV Facebook page, a man recently shared an unexpected discovery: what he says is June Lockhart’s original personal wedding album from her 1951 marriage to Dr. John Maloney.

“Can anyone put me in touch with someone who knows a family member or former co-star of June Lockhart?” the fan wrote. “I have her original and personal wedding album from her marriage to Dr. John Maloney in 1951. … If anyone knows how I can get in touch with Anne Lockhart, please let me know. I would love for her to have this album. Please note: I am not trying to sell this. I would love for it to go to her family members or former coworkers."

The album, which includes dozens of black-and-white photographs, appears to document Lockhart’s wedding day in remarkable detail. The images show the actress smiling in a lace gown and veil, holding a bouquet of flowers and standing on the steps of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Another photo shows the bride and groom toasting one another, while a separate image captures the ceremony inside the cathedral’s Lady Chapel.

An invitation included in the album reads:

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lockhart request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter June Kathleen to Doctor John Francis Maloney Tuesday, the sixteenth of January at ten o’clock The Lady Chapel Saint Patrick’s Cathedral New York.

Lockhart, who died in June 2025 at the age of 100, was best known for her roles on Lassie, Lost in Space and Petticoat Junction. Beyond television, she also built a respected stage career, earning a Special Tony Award in 1948 for Outstanding Performance by a Newcomer for her Broadway role in For Love or Money. In 2008, she donated her Tony Award to the Smithsonian Institution for display in the permanent entertainment archives at the National Museum of American History.

According to the Facebook post, the man came into possession of the album through his brother, who recently passed away.

“My brother (who recently passed away) was a HUGE fan of hers and I do believe he was friends with Anne,” he wrote. “I'm not exactly sure how he acquired them, but he did.”

Lockhart had two daughters, Anne and June, from her marriage to Maloney, which ended in 1959.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with admiration for both Lockhart and the man’s efforts to return the album. “She was beautiful until the end,” one person wrote. Another added, “So pretty.” Others chimed in with messages like “Wow,” “Wow, love this,” and “So thoughtful and kind of you.”

Several commenters suggested reaching out to Lockhart’s former co-stars, including Jon Provost from Lassie and Bill Mumy and Angela Cartwright from Lost in Space, all of whom remain active online.

The fan reiterated that he has no intention of selling the album and simply wants it returned to Lockhart’s family.

I Tried the Viral Olympic Lava Cake and It’s Even Better Than I Expected

Sat, 02/14/2026 - 5:30am

If there’s one thing I learned from the last Olympic Games, it’s that athletes have access to some surprisingly decadent desserts. You might remember the viral Olympic Village chocolate muffins from Paris 2024 that completely took over the internet. Now, at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan, it seems athletes have discovered a new dessert that might just outshine its summer predecessor.

In a video shared by Canadian short track speed skater Courtney Sarault that helped spark the excitement, I got my first look at the Olympic Village’s new luscious dessert: lava cakes. While Courtney and her peers gasp at the sight of the cake being cut open, revealing a velvety, gooey chocolate ganache inside, an athlete watching the excitement says, “I eat that every morning.”

As someone who wasted no time baking the 2024 chocolate muffins myself, that was all I needed to hear to give this rich, molten, velvety dessert a shot. And while I have a tendency to overbake anything brownie-adjacent (don’t we all?), this recipe is surprisingly forgiving and easy to pull off. So if you’re a fan of gooey chocolate treats, you’ll want to follow along to see exactly how it's done.

While I’m sure the bakers behind the Olympic Village lava cake are keeping that recipe under lock and key, Chef Danielle Sepsy didn’t let that stop her from recreating it for us non-Olympians at home. After all, she made headlines back in 2024 for her take on the chocolate muffins, and I was more than happy to let her recipe-for-two guide me.

For the chocolate ganache, you’ll need 2 ounces of good-quality dark chocolate (finely chopped, 60 to 70 percent) and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream or whole milk. For the lava cakes, you’ll need 4 ounces of the same dark chocolate (finely chopped), 1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1 large egg at room temperature, 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon instant espresso powder (optional) and a pinch of salt.

Make the ganache: Start by heating your cream or milk until it’s just steaming. When ready, pour it over the 2 ounces of chopped chocolate and let it sit for a minute as it begins to melt, then stir until glossy and smooth. Let the mixture chill in the fridge or freezer just long enough to firm up so it’s easy to scoop.

Prep the ramekins and melt the chocolate: While the ganache chills, preheat your oven to 400°F and butter two 6-ounce ramekins or mini cocottes. Give each one a light dusting of flour, tapping out any extra and set them aside. Next, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and the remaining 4 ounces of chopped chocolate together. You can do this in short bursts in the microwave or gently over a double boiler (a heatproof bowl set over simmering water). Stir until everything is velvety smooth, then let it cool just slightly before moving on.

Mix the batter and assemble: Now whisk in the egg, sugar, vanilla, espresso powder (if using) and salt until the mixture is shiny and smooth. Gently fold in the flour, stopping as soon as it’s combined, then begin spooning half the batter into each ramekin. Now take half of the chilled ganache and roll it into a little ball, then nestle it in the center of each ramekin. Cover with the remaining batter and repeat for the second ramekin.

Bake and serve: Bake on the center rack of your preheated oven for 13 - 15 minutes. Times may vary depending on your oven, but this is the detrimental part that I always find myself making mistakes. For lava cakes and other brownie adjacent recipes, its always better to pull it out of the oven early to retain the moist gooeyness. The edges should be set, but the center should still be soft—this is where you’ll find lava cake perfection.

Once removed from the oven, let them rest for a minute, then invert them onto plates, carefully remove the ramekins and dig in while it’s hot!

My Honest Thought’s About the Viral Olympic Lava Cake Olympic Lava Cake cut open

Nathan Hutsenpiller

This was my first ever attempt at a lava cake, and while I knew I would probably overbake the exterior, I was still pleasantly surprised by the results. Each bite is incredibly rich, thanks largely to the high cacao content in the dark chocolate, and the interior is wonderfully gooey. I wasn’t exactly sure how big to make the chocolate ball before assembling and baking, but I ended up pleased with the size I chose, as it provided ample molten center without being overwhelming.

The cake itself has a delicate texture that is sturdy enough to hold its shape, and even with an overbaked exterior, the inner bits were still satisfyingly soft and moist. A light dusting of powdered sugar and a scoop of ice cream will only elevate it further, complementing the decadent chocolate and creating a truly indulgent experience.

I can see why, when executed properly, this dessert has gotten so much attention. While mine at home lacked that perfectly glistening exterior, I still couldn’t help letting out a little gasp of delight as I cut into it for the first bite. And since this recipe is so easy to make, I’m already looking forward to future attempts to properly achieve Olympic-levels of glory.

3 Tips for Making the Viral Olympic Lava Cake Olympic Lava Cakes served and cut open

Nathan Hutsenpiller

  1. Melting the chocolate: If you don’t have access to a stovetop or just want to keep things easy, melt the chocolate and cream for the ganache in short 30-second bursts in the microwave, stirring in between. Just make sure to go slowly so it doesn’t separate.
  2. Double boiler option: For a gentler approach, use the double boiler method to melt your chocolate and butter. Place a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water and stir consistently until it’s silky smooth.
  3. Do not overmix: Once you add the flour, gently fold the batter just until combined. Overmixing can make the cakes dense instead of soft and tender.
  4. Baking tip: Learn from my mistakes and keep a close eye on your cakes during the last few minutes of baking. The edges should be set while the centers stay soft and gooey. It’s always safer to pull them closer to the start of the 13 - 15 minute window, since they’ll continue cooking slightly as they rest on the countertop.
